Don’t know if this has blown up on Tumblr but, in the new Spiderverse film (spoilers), we see Gwen’s room which features a trans pride flag above her door. We also see a smaller flag sowed into her father’s police jacket.

They have been some theories sparked off by this with people speculating if Gwen is trans or just an ally. I find the argument about allyship to not quite hold up given where the flag is located. Someone’s bedroom is a very personal space and Gwen has only had one friend before Miles so it seems like the flag isn’t a social indicator for allyship but something more personal.

It’s perfectly possible that Gwen feels such close allyship that she keeps a pride flag in her room but I can’t really think of a justification for this. This level of passion for allyship would probably come out of a personal connection to a trans person but Gwen has very few people she feels close to (especially at the start of the film), namely: Peter Parker and her dad. These are the only people that could’ve inspired her allyship and it is possible for these characters to be trans, and one or both of these characters being trans would explain the trans flag on her dad’s police uniform since Peter was close with her dad, however I cannot find any further evidence of these character’s transness though it is possible.

It is semi-plausible to say Gwen saw trans people struggling online, and her father was convinced by this to wear a pride flag on his uniform to show allyship, though I personally don’t know any allies who have pride flags in their room.

This also seems like a strange detail for a film that is so purposeful in its visual nuances so I would imagine the reasoning behind this is less convulated than the allyship theories.

Another clue to her possible transness could be in her universe’s animation style which uses blues, purples, whites and pinks- the colours of the trans pride flag.

When I was watching the film, I spotted the trans flag and thought it was interesting. I hadn’t heard the rumours or even watched the full trailer. As the plot unfolded, I made some comparisons between Gwen Stacy’s expierience in the film and my own trans experience; the alienation from society, the anger at the world, the search for a community, the disconnect with family and the eventual acceptance of family. This made me feel a rather intimate connection with the character and her story and I think it’s actually encouraging me to come out to my mother but I haven’t yet (I asked if I could go to pride with friends and she said yes so hopefully that gives me the confidence).

This subtle but poignant dropping of the trans flag into the film, the film’s nature of making every detail significant and the clear comparison between her character arc and the general trans experience gives me the impression that the team behind the film intended for Gwen to be allegorically, or even canonically, trans and, if so, I hope they do more with this since I was genuinely brought to tears.

Whilst we can not prove Gwen is trans, we can’t prove she isn’t trans and, as explained, it isn’t impossible. I read through the reddit post and found a lot of people, unsurprisingly, saying that this is just Twitter making everyone think everyone is trans and she is conclusively not trans but I don’t use Twitter (as a loyal Tumblr girl) or had heard anything about Gwen’s story arc so my experience was as organic as anyone’s experience who came out of the cinema thinking she was cis. This stubborness to not believe Gwen could be trans is ignorant, from my perspective, because there’s no reason to say she isn’t trans. It’s more logical to assume characters are cis because most people are cis statistically but, here, we have evidence for possible transness so it feels more like a Shrödinger’s transgender- where a character could be trans, due to non-conclusive evidence, or could be cis, depending on what the writers (in regards to cannon) and fans (in regards to headcannon and fan works) choose.

I had a mighty itch to sew something new for this year's Vienna pride parade! I have my amazing rainbow dress of course, but I kinda wanted to add to my rainbow closet. I have a couple more clothing ideas, but due to what fabric I could find last minute I went with a rainbow flag skirt, with the 6 classic colours.

(So, red - orange - yellow - green - blue and purple.) Doing something with the updated flag would be cool aswell, though I see that one more as a top. I don't know why, but that's how it is! Anyway, for this year's new rainbow skirt I went with linen fabric - because linen is amazing and I love it dearly. Linen always makes me happy and I DEFINITELY need more linen clothes for sure!!

The skirt is made up of 12 stripes (/rectangles) of fabric: each 66cm wide and about 70cm long. I used the pre-made edges of the fabric for the hem, because I like the effect that gives the hem (and it also saved me a ton of work with hemming the almost 8m hem circumference the skirt ended up with!!). Each of the 12 stripes of fabric was gathered down to about 16cm at the top, (after sewing together all the sides) and then attached to the purple waistband.

And yes of course the skirt also has pockets!!!

There was a hole in the green fabric, which I immediately had to mend before it gets bigger. I covered it with a fabric patch cut from a scrap of the green fabric (see pic 5 for what I did, I folded the scrap around the paper shape I've drawn, removed the paper and hand stitched it over the hole).

Pic 3 shows the washed fabric hanging on a metal drying rack, so it can air dry.

Pic 4 shows the cut to lenght individual pieces of fabric lying next to a purple/violett sewing machine, all ready for action!

Pic 5 is a close up of a paper pattern piece about to be cut out, with a pencil, a cute purple ruler, sewing thread and a brown muffin shaped pin cushion arranged aesthetically.

Pic 6 shows the rectangles already joined into a skirt, with the top edge gathered down, lying on the wooden table next to the sewing machine.

Pic 7 and 8 are close ups from the pride parade: they show a young fat white woman with long brown hair wearing a sunny-yellow summer top with big poofy sleeves and a red sports bra underneath. She's got classes and for accessories magenta coloured felt flower earrings (with yellow flower middles) and a rainbow flower necklace. You can see her friend in the background of the close-up (with her head cut off). It's a thin white woman, wearing a shiny silver-white close fitting cropped bodice and a circle skirt with pink, white and purple srtripes on it. Pic 8 shows the above mentioned two young women hugging and enjoying a moment of peace. There's a rainbow banner ceiling above them.

Finally, Pic 9 shows the young fat white woman with long brown hair standing ontop of a relatively empty pride parade truck, she's smiling and showing off her rainbow flag skirt. A green cloth scarf is tied like a belt around her waist and you can now see that she's wearing dark red velvet shoes with socks in a very similar colour. [/id]

“darling?” he called from your bedroom upon hearing you arrive home, “please, join me in our sanctuary, I’ve prepared a surprise for you.”

you smiled, gundham knew what a special month for you it was, and so he wanted to contribute to your happiness in his own way.

“coming, baby!”

you smiled, taking off your shoes and slipping on your slides as you made your way to the bedroom.

upon opening the door, you smiled, almost wanting to cry.

he’d set up new blankets in the varying shades of the bi flag, he had lit candles that sat on either side table of your big bed that smelled of vanilla and cedarwood, him sitting on his rocking chair with the devas all arranged in little blue, purple, and pink bowties, and then you finally noticed the glowing stars he’d hung and stuck to your ceiling, knowing your love for them.

“awh, my love this is beautiful.” you smiled, reaching to your eyes, and he returned it, carefully setting down the devas and standing up to make his way to you, wrapping his arms around you comfortingly.

“my paramour, this is the least I can do for your special time of the year, so please, let me treat you like the royalty you are. you deserve it for all you trek through in this miserably intolerable existence, gaining this month purely because your heart lies in two directions. let me love you my darling, I wish to see you shine like the stars on our ceiling.”

you teared up, his beautiful vocabulary and comfortingly deep voice made you smile and bury your head into his thick chest.

“thank you, gunny. this means so much to me.”

“just as you do for me, my starlight.” he kissed your head, running his ringed fingers through your locks. “let us relax, hm? I’ve prepared a bath for you, we mustn’t let the water get cold.”

you nodded, smiling more, as you walked with him to your bathroom, the devas following your trail as the door shut.

JM ID : Chaos photo folio concept photos

Oh My God.

He took me to the stars.

Oh My God.

He showed me all the stars.

Lyrics are in female but I kind of think they are somewhat appropriate here, so I changed them. Sue me (actually don’t, I can’t afford it).

We definitely have Artemis intertwined in JM’s concept. Chaos too.

I still think we need to wait and see the end result. Those masks they still do remind me the Jackalope A LOT. I need to see how it all connects.

Until today, when the actual book cover was revealed what we got was dark and mysterious and perhaps the contrast between perceived good/pure and perceived evil/sinful with the white and black.

And then we get this:

This caught me off guard.

Where do I start?

The colours? Where do they fit in? How do they connect with the black and white we saw so far? Another side to JM we’ll be getting to see?

The pink and blueish purple. First thing that popped into my mind was the Bisexual flag colours. Pink blue and purple.

Or the Bigender flags/colours.

Then we have the Love and 1981 on his T shirt. The colours of the stripes are hard to identify. The T shirt could mean nothing, but for some reason I believe that nothing JM does, in a project such as this, is meaningless. So I was thinking: why is 1981 significant? And what does it have to do with love?

I have my suspicions.

HIV was first identified in 1981. The illness that was stamped as the ‘gay epidemic’. An epidemic that on the one hand vilified the LGBTQ+ community, but on the other hand served as a catalyst to push forward LGBTQIA+ rights and the Pride movement in many countries around the world.

And I did go looking for other important events, including in SK happening that year. 1981 was the first year of the fifth republic in SK. Also the year that martial law was uplifted in SK. So, relatively important, yes, but is it connected to the Love on the T shirt?

My gut says it’s not about that.

Could be something else. I could be totally utterly wrong. But it is kind of a coincidence.

And do we talk about the wings?

Is that JK’s fallen angel?

This is JM showing us himself. Sides we haven’t seen just yet, or at least not as clearly as he is showing them to us right now.

And I can’t help but think how very brave JM is for doing that. Opening himself up to us the way he is.

He is showing us this knowing there are very ugly sided to Army that will at the very least frown upon this or even slam him for it. And we know there are many that will do much worse than show their displeasure ever so civilly. Let’s be honest. We know who they are. We know how ugly this is going to get. And I think I can rather confidently say that JM knows too.

All that and more.

He is showing us this knowing, at this time in space, that his enlistment is approaching real fast. At this point in time enlistment is imminent. Exemptions are seeming less and less an option.

He is so so brave.

And I love him even more for it.

We also got the little crowns with JM’s book, to compliment JK’s moon cycle, perhaps? Do we have some ‘You are me I am you” going on here maybe?

Writing Request: The culture shock that the witches are going through by being in the human realm. Particularly dealing with the fact that the Boiling Isles being free of homophobia and transphobia while the human realm isn't like that. Maybe Luz trying to figure out the best way to explain that horrible aspect of the human realm to her friends so that they stay careful. Or she started by explaining the bi flag in the house that Camila got to support her when she came out before going to the demon realm.

Warning beforehand about. The most mildest of suggestiveness. I probably don't even actually need a warning. Anyway.

Luz paced back and forth across the room. “Guys, I need to come out to my mom in the coolest, most creative, and rad way possible. Any ideas?”

Amity raised a hand. “What’s ‘coming out’?”

“Coming out of what?” Gus asked, “Your skin? Oh my titan, are you molting?”

“Do humans molt?” Willow asked him. He shrugged.

“No! Come out! As in, tell her I’m bi?”

Hunter raised a hand.

“Yes! Hunter! Idea?”

“What’s ‘bi’? Is… are you sick or something? Are you dying? Is that why you haven’t told her yet? You should tell your family if there’s something wrong, she can help you!”

Amity grabbed her girlfriend’s face in her hands. “You don’t feel feverish. Is it interna bleeding? Are your organs bursting?! Ohhhhh I KNEW catching the common mold might have been really bad for humans!”

“No, no, I’m okay, Amity. I’m not sick. Hunter, bi is short for bisexual.”

“Which is…?”

“You know,” Gus interrupted, “she can reproduce in two different ways!” He squinted at Luz. “What’s the second way?”

“No. Gus, just… no. Bisexual. I’m attracted to multiple genders? You know, like some people are attracted to guys, and other people are attracted to girls, and then I’m attracted to both.”

There was a collective “ohhhhhhh” from her friends.

Right. Sure. Probably the boiling isles had different words or something. “Sooooo… any ideas for the most spectacular coming out of all time?”

Amity clasped her hands together, pressing her index fingers to lips. “Riiiiiiight, there’s that. So, that’s like… telling your mom that we’re dating?”

Luz gave her a thumbs up. Finally, some progress. “Yeah, that’s part of it! But also just letting her know that I like both in general.”

“…Why? I mean, why’s it such a big deal? We’re dating. We tell her we’re dating, right? Why’s it matter if you’re… bi-sechs-ual?”

Luz hissed in. Thing had been so much more relaxed in the demon realm, she’d forgotten until now that it wasn’t always so simple. “Welllllllllll… it’s… not a huge deal in the demon realm, but here, in the human realm… people can get really weird about you liking the same gender as yourself. Or about you expressing your gender in different ways.”

“What?!” Gus yelped, “Why?!”

“Lots of reasons. Religion. It’s how they were raised. Someone in power told them to. I don’t know how it all started, but… that’s how things are here. So telling people who you are, who you like, it can… well, it can be dangerous. A lot of people have to hide who they are from the people around him. And ‘coming out,’ or telling people about it, can kind of be a big deal!”

Luz shrugged. “My mom’s not one of those people who would be weird about it, at least I don’t think so, but… this is really important to me, and I want to do something amazing about it so that my mom will know just how much it means to me.”

“I can help with some illusions!” Gus suggested, “What’s some stuff about being bisexual? I can make them appear!”

Luz opened her computer. “I’ve got a couple of pictures of Amity and I on my phone. I could do a little presentation. Then Gus’ illusions… maybe I could get her an ally pin? But what if she doesn’t want to wear it?”

“Let’s just stick with the presentation and the illusions for now,” Amity suggested, “Afterwards, maybe the pin?”

“Yeah. Yeah, okay.” Luz pulled up a picture of a pink, purple, and blue flag. “Okay, Gus, listen super close, here’s what I think we should do…”

“Luz?”

Luz twisted her new bi pin around on her hat with a small smile. “Hm?”

Hunter tapped his index fingers together. “Do you think… you could explain it again?”

“Explain what?”

“Being bi.”

Luz blinked. Weird request. Maybe it was different, but it was hardly the strangest thing she’d ever had to explain. Had she been unclear about something earlier? Maybe she’d been too vague? “Uhhhh okay, so, I’m attracted to more than one gender, right? Guys, gals, nonbinary pals—”

“Right, right, what does that mean?”

“What?”

“Being attracted to someone? Like, literally? You’re being pulled towards them?”

“Oh.” Luz hummed. “In a way, I guess? But not literally. More emotionally.”

“So… like how people were drawn towards Belos?”

Luz’s spine straightened. “No! Well, maybe, I don’t know what went on in anyone’s heads, but no, not like that, it’s… mmmm… okay, well, it’s like… you like them. Like a LOT. And you want to spend a lot of time with them, and be near them all the time.”

Hunter frowned. “So, more like how I want to hang out with you and Gus?”

“Uhhh I doubt it.” Luz let out a short hiss. “Wow. Okay. You know what, romantic attraction is weird to explain, let’s do something easier. Hunter, do you, uhhhhhh… do you know how babies get made? Not, like, however grimwalkers get made, the normalish way?”

He flushed bright red. “Of course I do. I’ve taken anatomy lessons.”

“Okay, well… attraction is… wanting to do that with someone.”

Hunter frowned. “Attraction is… wanting a baby with someone? That’s… weird.”

“No? I mean, yes, but you don’t have to… actually have a baby.”

“Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy would you do that if you didn’t want to make a kid? What would be the point?”

Luz’s cheeks burned, and she yanked her beanie down over her face. “Uuuuuuughhhhhh forget I said anything. Just… mmmmmmmmmm… yeah, forget it.”

“Wait—no—Luz—sorry, I’m sorry, I just…” Hunter took a deep breath. “I don’t think I understand it? And… I’m just… I don’t know if it’s just one of those things that I never got exposed to in the coven, like having friends, or if it’s… you said it yourself, grimwalkers don’t get made the same way, so maybe… maybe that’s why?” Hunter tugged her hat up, looking her in the eye. “Basically, is this something I’m going to figure out eventually? Or is it something I’ll have to pretend I feel so that they don’t realize I’m a grimwalker?”

Luz perked up. “Oh! Well, actually, good news on that, I don’t think it’s a grimwalker thing. Hang on.” She grabbed her computer, typing “asexual” into the search engine and clicking on the wiki. She handed the computer to Hunter. “Here.”

Hunter scanned the page, his eyes widening. He looked at the page, then back at Luz. “You want to make babies with Amity all the time? And that’s normal?!”

Luz choked, coughing and flushing red. She dropped down into her desk chair, burying her head in her arms. “Not all the time,” she whispered hoarsely.

“Does Amity know that? Have you told her?”

Luz clutched at her beanie, thumping her head against the desk. “Hunter! You can’t ask people that! Quit talking about me, talk about you. Obviously you don’t want to…”

“Nope. Not even a little. Gross, Luz.”

“It is not,” she protested.

“Very gross.”

“Hunter, that’s how 99% of people are!”

“99% of people are very gross,” Hunter insisted.

“Okay, okay. Whatever.” Luz spun around in her chair. “You want to make a powerpoint?”

“What? No, I don’t think it matters that much.” Hunter pointed at the computer screen. “I like this. I’m keeping the word. You know, technically, grimwalkers do reproduce asexually! So I’m asexual in all respects, yeah?”

Luz burst out laughing, gasping for air. “Yeah,” she wheezed, “Guess so.”

Hunter marched down to the basement with the computer, and Luz followed. Hunter plunked the computer down on an old card table and cleared his throat. Willow and Gus looked up from the earth book on plants they were looking at, and Hunter pointed at the computer screen.

“This is me,” he announced, “It is a totally normal thing for humans—and presumably witches as well—to be. There are no strange or hidden reasons for me to be this way.”

He beamed and gave Luz a thumbs-up over Willow and Gus’ heads as they examined the computer screen. Luz put her face in her hands.

Very smooth, Hunter. Not suspicious at all.

“Aw, cool!” Willow cheered, “Hey, maybe we could get you a pin like Luz’s! But with this flag instead!”

Gus drew a circle, and an illusion pin appeared on Hunter’s shirt. “It suits you.”

Hunter pulled his shirt out, going cross-eyed as he looked at the illusion. “You think so?”

“Yeah,” Willow agreed, “That looks good!”

“Yeah,” Hunter said softly, smiling at the fake pin, “Yeah, I like it.” He looked back up at Luz, a big grin splitting his face. “I like it a lot.”

bc which miles? comic miles (ew)? itsv/atsv miles? PlayStation miles? i lowk hope it was play station miles bc that one is 17, and while he still is technically a minor, in a lot of places 17 is considered an adult. its still gross but slightly less gross? i'm-- so many thoughts about this.

its not like i don't condone smut, its just hard to figure out where the disconnect is with smut writers. below 18 in the u.s is considered a minor, however in different places its different. for example, in s. korea 19 is adult, not 18.

so likeeee very multifaceted in the sense that laws are different everywhere, and atsv was released in most countries.

i love love love that this fandom has opinions/ visions for characters but yall needa chill. that 'hobie is in love with miles because he turns pink!' is cute when its just your opinion, however the color doesn't necessarily dictate his emotions (at least we don't know for sure, we don't know much abt hobie), and he also turned from yellow to pink while holding mayday. the pink can symbolize adoration if u will. that's not to say you cant have ur punkflower hcs, js don't PUSH it yall. ur human, okay? a lot of people have sexual desires which is cool but stop pushing ur horny on a minor and animated character. its not cool, does not pass the vibe check.

unrelated but in the same vibe as the previous rant-- gwens character. there's a lot of discourse rn about her possibly being trans WHICH IS COOL but I've seen people attack others for politely disagreeing. i love that a lot of people are feeling comfortable and recognized with possible hints towards peoples identities, but please calm the fuck down. it was never that serious, never that deep babes i promise. because, yes, representation is quite wonderful (speaking as a queer black girl) but it doesn't always spark change, sometimes it causes the latter. and in this instance of yall projected ur opinions to the absolute max, is not inciting change. its inciting anger, disagreement, and toxcity. i'm not gonna lie, i'm on the side of lets js leave things where they are until animators disclose something. but rae their color schemes-- yall do know that pride flags were also created with aesthetics in mind, right? blue, pink and white go pretty together, AND they compliment lighter skin tones (like gwen). purple blue and pink go good together too, and we see a lot of that in miles' palate. BECAUSE IT COMPLIMENTS MELANIN. i love love love how people are incorporating themselves and their identities into this movie, shit i even do this, but can yall CHILL? for the love of god.

Aroace lesbian pride flags! Because I couldn't find any until after I'd made them and that one was made using an aroace flag created specifically to exclude mspec lesbians, and in this house, we do not tolerate exclusionism and bigotry. Mspec lesbians are lesbians. So are trans lesbians! So are multigender lesbians! End of fucking discussion!

These are public domain, meaning you can use them for anything you'd use a pride flag for, no credit or permission needed. You can download the HD versions from the web archive here.

My only request if you use them is that, whenever possible, you include an accessible image description, meaning in plain, non-colored, non bolded or italicized or tiny text, not hidden under a read more, ect.

The orange, white, and blue stripes on each one are meant to be the top part of the orange and blue aroace flag, with an extra orange stripe in between the first orange and yellow to show more variety of experiences.

AThane and the symbolism behind the outfit

This has been on my mind for quite some time, pretty much ever since AThane was introduced to the game but it was only with the comic coming out that I realized just what was it that looked so important for me in his design. Yes, I’m not very fast on the uptake sometimes let me ramble xD

As usual, this will probably be a fairly long post so I’m putting it under Read More just in case. And yes, I know this is the Brutus month and tbh, I do love ABrutus and his story is amazing but I don’t really have much to say in terms of symbolism etc.

The Awakened heroes so far didn’t really have any MAJOR changes to their design. Sure, ATalene tied her hair back and got an extra pair of fluffier wings, and AEzizh got buffer and more blue and pink than red and purple but it wasn’t anything huge. There really wasn’t much going on in terms of theme or symbolism that wouldn’t already be there in their original form. Yes, ATalene looks more angelic than the old version and yes, AEzizh now ascends from a ball of demonic purple energy but these changes only emphasize what was already there, meanwhile AThane’s design completely flips the script on his previous aesthetics and feel.

Since his introduction to the game, Thane stood out as being one of the few Lightbearers with a darker theme to his design. Sure, he wasn’t the only one but it was still somewhat of a staple of his. His outfits consists mostly of dark blues, grays, and browns, a lot of them a little faded, and though he’s on his guard, his expression is somber. This goes double for his in-game model. And unlike the other darker-themed characters, he doesn’t really have much to lighten the overall feel up. Estrilda has her flag which has brighter colors and a nice rim of light (and her insane amount of revealed skin which also brightens the pic), Hendrik’s colors are overall lighter and he has more gold on his outfit, his hair being white also adds to a more positive mood, and we could go on. Standing out from the lineup would be Morrow and Scarlet but those are fairly late additions and their palettes are more purposely contrasting than the somber darkness we see in Thane.

In a way, this is tied to Thane’s mental state at that point of his story. After losing Baden, and blaming himself for it, Thane fell into fairly deep depression, one he only somewhat got out of after he started training Estrilda. But going off of the Solemn Vow storyline, even that didn’t exactly get him out of that state much and while he did come to genuinely care for her, how much of his teaching was because he cared and how much was because of his self-assumed debt to the Rayne family is still unclear. I think it’s safe to say that with Baden, a part of Thane died as well. And while Baden wasn’t exactly dead, there is no canon confirmation that Thane would know about that. This is one of the things I really wish they would’ve made into a webcomic since we are apparently getting some comics for some awakened heroes and it would allow for more emotional connection compared to the Voyage of Wonders and plain text description.

Furthermore, and the picture above is inverted since I can’t find the correctly-facing one, Thane lost his right arm at the same time he lost Baden. This isn’t enough to end his swordsmanship even if it was his dominant hand but no doubt was this a major blow for both his sense of self-worth and his everyday life. Again, this is already very symbolic of what happened to him because of the loss of Baden – he didn’t die but it would forever be in the back of his mind like a haunting reminder of his failure. For all means and purposes, Thane’s story could’ve ended there, leaving him agonizing over that one moment where he lost his... ehm “best friend” and his arm, the moment of his ultimate failure.

And then came his awakening.

Immediately, the first thing you notice is how much brighter this design is compared to the original. AThane is still wearing the same black suit but now with more gold, and his cloak has brighter colors. Even his hair – and a new goatee – changed from gray to blue. The addition of lighter shades, whites, and the overall light-feeling aesthetic also marks a big step for his mental state and character development. AThane moved to a brighter place. It is very fitting that Thane’s design choices are affected by him losing Baden, while AThane’s are directly tied to finding Baden again, and being able to prove himself worthy of him.

The motif for AThane’s outfit appears to be the peacock, both based on the colors and on the shape his outfit took. Peacocks are, among other things, universally considered the symbol of pride and confidence but various cultures assign them other meanings as well. In Native American cultures, peacocks could be used self-esteem, refinement, beauty, or even sexuality. Hinduism associates peacocks with prosperity, good luck, and protection. And finally, in Chinese history, peacocks were used to symbolize power, beauty, and even divinity.

It is therefore fitting for AThane’s theme to be so heavily leaning into the peacock motif for several reasons. Not only has he gained new power – and it was the power to protect – but he gained a connection to the divine by merging with the elemental wind mark. This was most certainly a tough choice, Thane avoided it for as long as he could, knowing how much of a strain it was sure to put on him. It was no sooner than he saw Baden ready to sacrifice himself for him AGAIN that he made his choice, thus ultimately making this choice about love. Now, whether you see Thaden as platonic or romantic, there is no doubt that some kind of deep love runs between the two. Last time, Baden was the one to act on it and take a tremendous risk. This time, Thane is the one to take the risk, not willing to fail Baden again, even if it costs his life. And finally, we get to the final point of AThane’s design.

Notice how the right side of his cloak is so heavily decorated with the feathers while the left side is relatively plain, the feather design instead appearing on his sleeve. This is the part I newly realized and that really knocked the air out of me once it clicked. By his self-sacrifice, AThane not only made up for his previous mistake, but he gained wings. His arm won’t ever come back, much like Baden will never be human again, but there is now something to substitute it. Now, I’m sure I don’t have to get into the common associations when it comes to wings, but let me just bring up a few most common – and most interesting – ones.

Wings symbolize protection. In multiple official arts of AThane, he seems to be using his missing arm as a way to deflect blows, the shoulder piece serving as a bright shield. This also tracks with how he even gained this new power – in an attempt to protect Baden, on a mission to protect Estrilda, and ending up giving him the determination to try and protect the world.

Wings symbolize freedom. In AThane’s case, it’s the freedom from his haunting past, and the ability to overcome it. It’s a freedom of his weakness and of the fear that he would end up losing everyone again. I wouldn’t be surprised if after this, we saw the character developing deep relationships and let himself get close to people again. He might even feel free to express himself some more. One thing I certainly hope to see once we finally get to the culmination of this arc is Thane, completely exhausted after the battle, perhaps hurt, but looking over the people who helped him get there, and smiling, or perhaps even laughing, letting all the stress and responsibility wash off of him.

And finally, wings symbolize purity and divinity. I touched upon the divinity before but I want to mention it briefly once more because angels as we know them are often intimately tied to both of the previous ties. But furthermore, they are gentle, often self-sacrificing creatures who serve as protectors, soldiers, messengers, and more. This role is fitting for a character like Thane who was a soldier, a castellan, a detective, an arrand boy, and now finally also a protector. It also symbolizes a rebith of sorts. With his rise from the dark depths his mind was in before, he can now fully embrace a new calling.

AFK Arena (luckily) doesn’t have a habit of killing off playable characters but if it did, I believe it to possibly be the perfect culmination for AThane’s arc. This is just my opinion so absolutely feel free to yell at me. I simply think that AThane gaining wings and then possibly falling in the final battle, possibly shielding his allies instead of going in for a reckless offensive, would be the most fitting end to his character development, showing us just how far he’s gone. From someone who needed others to die for him, to someone willing to protect others with his life. But even if this is not going to happen any time soon, simply the fact that he was willing to risk it for the mere chance of being able to save others is already an incredible step forward.

Well, that would be it for this analysis. I plan on going more in-depth about why the characters were picked for their particular elements too but since we only have two so far, that might have to wait. Speaking of which, we’re left down to fire and water, and Wilders and Graveborn. I wonder who will take which element? Wilders already have a character associated with fire, and Graveborn have multiple water-related characters so seeing a switch would certainly be interesting. There’s also the Daimon song video that has the grave symbolized by a large body of water so that could also be a hint... Well, we’ll see in two months. Until then, let me know what you think.

Part 3 of 3

Last, but not least, let’s see what Takashi & Hein are up to 🥰

**helpful note: Hein’s shirt has a poem that ends with “I’m ace as heck so let’s cuddle instead.”**

“Are you sure about this, Mr. Takashi?” Hein asks, clutching the shirt in his hands.

“For the hundredth time, Hein, it’s just Takashi, and yes, of course I’m sure.” The other man says, looking into the mirror. He runs his fingers through his hair trying to style it. When Hein says nothing, he turns and peeks his head out from the bathroom. “What’s wrong? Did you change your mind? We don’t have to go if you don’t want to.”

Hein shakes his head. “No, it’s not that. It’s just-“

Takashi steps out of the bathroom and walks over to the younger man. “Just what?”

“Well, Mr. Takashi, won’t people think it’s weird?”

“Think what’s weird? Your ace shirt? Why? I know we couldn’t find one specific to you, but that’s why Ishida found you those Demi pins you can wear.” Takashi says, gesturing to where the pins lay on the edge of the bed along with a purple, white, black, and grey beaded bracelet.

“I’m just worried.” Hein mumbles, rubbing the shirt together in his hands.

“There’s nothing to worry about,” Takashi smiles. “You have a right to be a part of the celebration just like everyone else,” he says, moving over to the dresser. He puts on a bracelet and a dangle earring, both with the colors of the Bi flag on them.

“But, Mr. Takashi, aren’t you worried about what people will say if they see you… with me?”

Takashi turns to Hein, his face scrunched in confusion. “What do you mean?”

“Well… you’re,” Hein gestures to the man standing in front of him all decked out in pink, blue, and purple. “And I’m…” he moves to hold the shirt out in front of him. “Cuddle.”

Takashi blinks. “You think people will wonder why I'm dating someone who's ace?” He asks slowly.

Hein nods, looking down at the floor.

Takashi takes a deep breath, holding in a laugh he wants to let out. “Always so concerned for my wellbeing,” he sighs, walking over to Hein.

He takes the younger man's face in his hands. “First,” he starts, “the only thing anyone is going to think when they see me with you is ‘wow, lucky guy.’ And they’re absolutely right because-” he steps back to look Hein up and down- “damn.”

Hein snorts. “Mr. Takashi, be serious.”

“Oh, I’m very serious,” Takashi grins, cupping Hein’s cheeks again. “And second, it’s none of their business, anyway. You know, how you identify doesn’t change how I feel about you, right?”

Hein nods.

“And you don’t care that I’m bisexual, right?”

“Of course not.”

“Then we’re fine! Who cares about anyone else? It’s just you and me.” Takashi says, emphasizing ‘you and me,’ by tapping Hein’s nose and then his own.

“You’re right,” Hein smiles.

“Aren’t I always?” Takashi remarks, frowning when Hein gives him a questionable look. He squeezes Heins cheeks together so that his lips pucker. “Now, quit worrying and finish getting ready.” He leans down and gives Hein a quick kiss before turning back towards the dresser. “Because I'm going to be your cuddle monster for the entire event. Prepare yourself.”

Hein quickly slips on the shirt while Takashi continues to accessorize. Once the shirt is on, he steps behind the slightly taller man and wraps his arms around his middle.

“What’s up?” Takashi asks, placing his hand over Hein’s.

“Just taking my turn.”

“Your turn for what?”

“Well, if you’re going to be the cuddle monster for the entire event, then I get to be the cuddle monster now.” Hein smiles, pressing a kiss to Takashi’s shoulder.

“Is that right?”

Hein nods.

“Well, get over here then,” Takashi says, spinning around so he can wrap Hein up in his arms and pepper his face with kisses.

Yes i do! I love the colors of the ace flag since purple and black are two of my fave colors. I don't really incorporate it on purpose because I wear a lot of black and purple to begin with. I like the colors of the bi flag minus the pink (sorry Azu). Pink is too bold for me XD but the blue and purple work fine. I like that both flags are casual enough you can wear the colors and not scream you're wearing your pride flag for those of us who aren't out in real life.

How would/did their family/friends react: Leia would be cool with it because she’s bi too and they were each other’s bi awakening lol. Nate would be cool too for the same reasons. So would her family.

What would they wear: She wouldn’t wear something too fancy. Moreso a pink, blue, and purple striped tank with ripped jeans.

Chapter 2: Deja Vu

My eyes wake up from some bright ass light hitting my face. I slowly wake up and see the sun beaming through my windows.

Getting up, I groan softly while holding my head. Man, how much did we drink last night?

Thinking back to last night, I immediately start to smile, remembering the men we spent time together with. Too bad we probably will never see them again.

I get up to go take a shower and brush my teeth.

As I finish my teeth, I hear Mycha get up and do the same. Damn, she looks like a zombie.

“Good morning to you, sunshine.”

“Ugh…” she groans, “I need food.”

“Ok, well we’ll go get some breakfast.” I say to her as I get into my bed and grab my phone off the nightstand. I open it up and notice all the birthday wishes from last night and the time.

12:32 pm

“Or maybe lunch”

“Yea, lunch sounds good, but I want to go shopping as well.” Mycha says, racking her brain for other errands she may need to do.

“Well, I was thinking about going to start my tattoo piece and maybe getting my nose pierced.”

“Ok, we go to lunch and then we go our separate ways and then meet up for dinner?”

“...Yes, that should work. What about dinner at 8? Gives us time to come back if possible and get changed.” I suggest.

“Perfect.”

We both get dressed and grab our purses and keys. She gets in her modified 2015 Ford Fiesta ST while I get into my modified 1998 Acura Integra GSR. I followed her to our favorite hibachi place down the street from our place.

We sit down and eat our lunch. As we sit down, we talk about what she plans to get and what my tattoo may be.

“I’m thinking about getting that tattoo of the yin yang dream catcher for my native american side, and then the feathers flow into the colors of the flags for each of the other ethnicities.”

“Where though?”

“Maybe starting on my ribs and going to my hip.”

“Ma’am, that’s going to hurt.”

“Ma’am, dating my ex hurt. At least, I’ll get pleasure from this.”

Mycha giggles and shakes her head. “I mean … true.”

I laughed a little and we continued eating our food before paying and leaving.

“Remember, we are meeting back at our place at 6 so we can head out. If anything happens, call immediately.”

“Ok, mom.” I smirked.

She rolls her eyes and gets in her car. “Whatever, I love you, bitch.”

“Love you, bitch” I say back while getting in my car and putting on my quick release steering wheel 'til I hear the satisfying ding of the wheel to signify its truly on.

Mycha’s POV

I get to the mall and park in a spot. Walking into the mall, I think about exactly what I want/need to get so I’m not wasting too much time. I checked the time on my phone once more.

1:45pm

Ok that gives about 4 hours to do some damage.

I walk into Macy’s and look for some nice tops I can dress up or down. While walking into the store, I saw that there’s a sale going on storewide.

YES! Buy one get one 50%! I’m here for it.

I searched around and found these pretty v neck t-shirts in multiple colors. Looking at the tops, I can’t choose between colors.

I do wear a lot of black and pinks but maybe this olive color would look nice as well. Ok, but this purple and blue. Oh my gosh and this yellow would brighten up my skin too!

As I’m pondering over these colors, I feel a presence behind me.

“Hi cutie.”

“Look sir, I don’t know who you are, but I’m not -” I start as I turn around and see a familiar redhead, smiling.

“You’re not interested? I can leave you alone if you.” the redhead said, rubbing the back of his neck, sheepishly.

“No no no, I thought you were some creep trying to flirt. I’m sorry.”

His smiles once again.

His smile is so fucking pretty! Ugh! Please, keep that smile!

“No, I get it. Also, I think you should get those. They’d look nice on you.” He points to the tops I was previously looking at.

I turn to look at them and sigh.

“I want to, but I don't know which one to get.”

“Why not all of them?”

“Sir, I’m balling on a budget.” I quipped.

“I’ll get them for you.”

I stared at him for a moment. Did he just - No, don’t accept it because you still don’t know the man.

“I appreciate the offer, but I’ll -”

He goes to grab one of each color.

“Hey! You don’t have to do that! I can get a couple now and get some others later.”

“Later, you don’t know if there’ll be a sale.” He says walking to the cash register with the shirt in hand.

“We’ll you don’t even know my size.” I crossed my arms.

He looked at me, “You still have the size of the shirt you were possibly going to get in your hand, love.” He takes that shirt out of my hand and adds it to the pile on the counter.

“Ok, seriously you don’t have to do it.”

“I know, I don’t have to, but I want to. Plus, you’ll look beautiful with your new shirts and a smile on your face.” He grins as he pays for the shirts and whatever else he grabbed before. “Can you separate the shirts for this? Thank you.”

“Ok, but what is the catch? What do you want from me? How did you even know I was here?”

“Cutie, I came here because they are the only place that carries my favorite cologne and I just happened to catch you walking past me to go to the shirts. Also, I don't want anything, except dinner, if that’s ok with you. Last night got cut short and I didn’t even tell you my name, which is Eijiro.”

Eijiro grabs the bags and hands me my bag of shirts.

So, his name is Eijiro.

“Honestly, I just want to formally introduce myself to you because I find you cute and sweet but feisty, but not as feisty as your friend though my friends like her. It’s not that I don't like her, though! I’m sure she’s a great person and what not but I’m not interested in her like I am you. Wait, I didn’t mean it like that!” He stumbles a bit. Eijiro rubs his free against his neck again, blushing slightly.

I giggled, “I understand and yes, she’s fiery. How about this? I’ll see if she minds going to dinner with us instead of just her and I. Therefore, we all can formally introduce ourselves to each other and I can thank you for the shirt.”

“YES! I mean, yea that sounds great. Here’s my number!” Eijiro enthusiastically reaches for his phone and gives me his number. I texted him and he received my number in exchange.

“Alright, well I’ll text her and I still have about 2 and a half hours before I got to head back. Wanna shop some more?”

“Yea! I’ll let the boys know as well”

I opened my message and sent Luna a quick text to let her know the slight change in plans.

Maybe, one of them, or both, will help her recover from her ex.

Luna’s POV

I feel a buzz from my phone as I pull into the parking lot of Blue Flame Tattoo and Piercings. Once the car is parked and turned off, I pull out my phone and look at the notification.

iMessage from My Wife Mycha at 1:45pm

Opening the notification while taking off my quick release, I read the message.

Mycha: Hey, do you mind if we change plans, slightly? I met Eijiro - or the redhead from last night and somehow, he ended up asking us to dinner with his friends. I know it’s sudden and I agreed BUT I told him I’d ask you. What do you think?

So, they met again. I’m glad, he seemed quite interested in her and it better not just be for sex, or I might just go to jail for murder.

Me: Let me see how I feel after this, and I’ll let you know.

I walk into the shop and the doorbell rings. I’m greeted by a man with raven-colored chin length hair. His bangs could cover his face if it weren’t held back by a bandana. From what I can see, he has a half sleeve right arm, a lip ring, and his left ear is full of piercings.

“Welcome to Blue Flame, I’m Tamaki. How can I help you?”

“I’m here to start my rib piece. I made an appointment with … I wasn’t given the name. My name is Luna.”

“No problem, I have you in the system. The person you’ll be working with should be finishing a client now. I’ll let him know you’re here though. Feel free to chill in the lounge while you wait.”

I go to sit on the couch and look at the tattoo I hope to start today.

Not even 5 minutes late, the previous client comes out. She is thanking the tattooist for her new ink. The tattoo artist comes out and gives the money to Tamaki who puts the money in the register.

The tattooist turns to me and smiles.

Oh, are you serious?

“Well, if it isn’t the spitfire from the club?”

when i was like, twelve or thirteen?? my friends and i all kinda figured it out around the same time together so it was a very like, "hmmm i think i like Women" "oh me too" "yeah i think i'm like. Gay" casual thing (at least, it was to me)

🧡 - How has the way you presented yourself (ex. Clothing, hairstyle, etc.) changed since you realized you were queer?

well im still fucking emo LMAO. uhhh but literally now i cut my own hair and have bangs and bleach it and dye it in ways i never got to. i'd say i'm more comfortable now?? idk my style hasn't changed hugely bc i've always been a "hoodies and skinny jeans" person, but i'm def more comfortable in Formal Clothes now, like button-ups and dresses. also 13yo me would never be caught dead in shorts above the knee but here i am, somehow less Girl yet more Comfortable With Femininity ??

idk i was going to a private lutheran school and also didn't have a lot of freedom in general with my style so obviously things have changed since i've become an adult and the inherent difference in appearance that one takes over the course of a decade and adolescence. this answer is probs v different for people who realized later in life which is fair but like. my queerness has always been an aspect of my identity ever since i was at the age where i was FORMING an identity, so it wasn't like a huge game-changer for me, it just helped explain who i was better.

🦚 - Are there any queer books/shows/etc. that you would suggest?

for the anime gang, Given is a big one, as well as Sasaki To (And?) Miyano (sometimes i see the title as "sasaki to miyano" and sometimes "sasaki and miyano," idk) - both are mlm high school romances and they're SO GOOD.

the owl house is a huge one for me. our flag means death. what we do in the shadows.

technically the six of crows duology isn't like, A Queer Book (Duology) but there are explicitly queer characters and who DOESN'T love a good heist??

i'm sure i'm forgetting some, i'm VVVVV bad at recalling recs off the top of my head, and i def am too big into fandom/fanfic and know most of my media isn't Actually queer rip

on that note, if y'all ever have any queer recs, PLZZZ hmu!! i have been itching more for like. adult-oriented content like OFMD and WWDITS, with adults figuring their shit out over high school coming of age, but OBVIOUSLY high school coming of age can still slap and i still def consume it. idk if there's a mom "i'll always love you" scene in it i'll cry automatically so

YES THE BISEXUAL FLAG IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT <333 blue/purple/pink is THEEE best color combo, sorry not sorry <333 there are def other pretty flags (aro and ace flags each are fantastic, love the black/gray/white with a pop of color in them sm) but i love the bisexual flag so much. i absolutely wear it frequently. i have multiple tie-dyed clothing items that are this color scheme. i love wearing it, i love dyeing my hair this combination of colors, etc etc.

the genderqueer flag is fine enough but idk i'm not a huuuuge fan of the green/white/purple (esp also now that TERFs on twitter use it to identify each other?? bc those are also the suffragette colors. suffragettes: cool. TERFs: uncool. genderqueerness: banger)

the nonbinary flag hits the aro + ace "black/white/[color]" sweet spot but at the same time it feels like the yellow and purple are from different palettes..... there's a post abt it floating around somewhere that i big agree with......... hmmm

the aromantic flag is banger as previously stated, we love to see it

So I said Blue was next, and he is. He's an absolute Bicon. Hahaha.

Also yes I proudly gave Blue vampire teeth. He looks cute with them.

I decided to mix the colours of the bi flag to make his skin and shirt because when I gave him the dark purple it looked like the Minions from Despicable Me 2. Which was hilarious.

The white in the eye was rushed at the end my apologies so it isn't light pink or blue. I WOULD HAVE MADE IT THAT COLOUR I JUST PANICKED WHEN I SAW HOW DEAD INSIDE HE LOOKED WITHOUT IT-

He looks like an Alien which.. Makes sense considering he lives in Outertale..

this is gonna be the most incoherrent thing ive ever written but i just . . need to get things out of my head

re my weird as fuck dream last night that woke me up at 7am on a saturday. dream (nightmare?) about coming out to my parents and my dad started wearing a trans pride flag tshirt that said trans rights. but???? i have NEVER felt like that applies to me. i can barely even consider myself nb even though that’s probably the most accurate way i view myself.

i cannot STAND being called a girl anymore. i liked it when my dad once misttook me for my sisters bf because we dress the same way sometimes and i had a cap on so my hair was covered. i liked it when someone drunkenly asked me at a club if i was born a boy or a girl because the couldnt tell (i guess based on the way i was dressed? my face looks feminine but i dress masculine idk). when the kids accidentally say yes sir to me at school and then apologise i tell them that’s fine, i dont care if they call me miss or sir. my best friend knows all of this and he tries to show his support by “jokingly”(?) calling me a boy when he talks to his dog (it’s not mean or condescending, idk how to explain, you just have to be there i guess).

i feel weird when people refer to me as “they” even though that’s what i’ve said i prefer, i’m also just used to hearing/reading “she”, but i dont really like that either. but i definitely do not want to use “he”. once again, i guess “they” is the best option but why the fuck does everything just feel so wrong when people use pronouns to refer to me. can’t i just be jazzy. can’t you just call me by name

i said to my sister the other day that i think yeosang is the most attractive ateez member but that i am most attracted TO wooyoung. and yet. when i see wooyoung in his casual cothes, his trackies and hoodies and caps and beanies and oversized tshirts, i think he’s hot, yeah, but mostly i just think “wow i wish i looked like that”. i’m also attraced to ryujin but i dont want to look like her. i dont know what relevence that has to anything, im just thinking out loud.

this has been an ongoing war ive had in my head for like two or three years now

in like 2016/17/18 i spent hundreds of dollars on these gorgeous dresses and brand name makeup that i used to wear to uni events and while i still enjoy doing makeup on my sister whenever she goes out somewhere fancy, i dont ever wear most of it myself. but i love lipstick. i fucking love bold lipstick - red, purple, organe, pink, blue, green, wow, WOW i love wearing lipstick.

i always feel the need to express how much i dislike the colour pink. i’ve been like that my whole life. except i dont actually dislike it anymore. it’s a nice colour. not one of my favourites by a long shot, but compared to how much i hated it when i was a kid, i dont anymore. but i still pretend(?) to?????? i dont get it

i dont want to be viewed as male. i want to be viewed as female. but not a woman. i dont like pronouns. im just a person. i am just a person.

anon came for my throat the other day when i said atiny selca day makes me feel uncomfortable and seeing atinys selfies makes me feel sick. it was never about seeing peoples selfies. i actually love seeing when my beloved tumblr mutuals post pictures of themselves. almost all are “she/her”. i love seeing them, gorgeous and feminine and happy with how they look in that picture and wanting to share it with friends online. i LOVE it. and then i go to twt and see random strangers posting gorgeous feminine pictures and i want to die. cant i be an atiny and not look like that? i dont want to look like that. i dont want people to assume i look like that, that i feel like that. i dont want people to group me with all these girls just because i like a boy group.

i dont even want to get started on how being bi confuses me in relation to all this as well. the idea of dating someone right now who is a girl or is a boy just. no. i dont know. it’s got nothing to do with it but also i feel like it has everything to do with it. i dont know
