I love how comfortable Adam and Lute are around each other.

I mean, look at this

So they're casually together during the extermination, much like how friends gravitate towards each other when in an event even if they're not talking or doing anything, just because it feels easier than being alone. Or perhaps Lute flew closer because she saw the huge war machine approaching Adam and got a little worried.

Charlie and Vaggie are going to attack them, and look at what they do:

Despite being Adam the one closer to Vaggie, he doesn't move an inch. They don't say anything (besides the shit talk) and Adam doesn't even look at her, he expects Lute will take care of Vaggie with no order from him, even if he's closer.

Obviously Adam is confident and doesn't think Vaggie can hurt him at all, but he clearly trusts Lute to get her out of the way. He probably knows how bloodthirsty Lute is for Vaggie and lets her have her without a word, and Lute complies, again, without a word, leaving him to handle the strongest of the enemies at that moment (Charlie).

So in this second, Adam and Lute communicated in silence. Adam didn't move and trusted her to cut in even if it was him the one under attack, and finally Lute trusted him to handle Charlie so she could fight Vaggie, as she didn't seem worried at all of the possibility of Charlie coming to protect her girlfriend.

They're in harmony. They're just natural together.

He lets her grab him like this and is willing to listen to her. It's clear he respects her and deep down appreciates that she'll keep him from doing something stupid, even if he whines.

She also climbs him? Lol. (Look at how she holds onto his arm 🥹 she's super comfortable with touching him!)

They're always hyping each other up, like in their songs:

(Look at Lute's smug face here 👇, she's sooo satisfied with what Adam's saying)

I honestly believe that they kinda make each other worse, that neither of them would be SO mean all the time if they didn't have the other: a companion who is always backing them up, who agrees on any crap that comes out of their mouth (Lute lets him talk shit about random women and nods, Adam goes along with Lute's homophobia despite seeming to not care that much about homosexuals).

Many portray Lute being a lot smarter than Adam, but I think they're both dumbasses. I mean, we laugh at Adam for saying he never made a mistake in his fucking life, but it was Lute who first stated angels don't make mistakes, somehow keeping a serious face. I think Lute seems smart because she's more quiet and cares about the rules, but she doesn't do logic very well either and can be impulsive too, as shown in the end of ep. 1.

They're probably each other's best/only friend, because they're just so unlikeable. And it makes sense they'd deeply care for one another. They care about that person that stands them and agrees with them and actually enjoys being with them. They're always seen together, hanging out even off duty. They clearly have a lot of fun.

I'll be honest. I ship GuitarSpear, I love it, but I don't know if I want it to be canon for 2 reasons:

1. Lute might be a lesbian.

She is so repulsed by homosexuals that it feels personal. Talking about how disgusting and blasphemous Charlie and Vaggie's love is, or how many cocks were in Angel's mouth and calling him a whore. She cares too much about it for it to not be personal, and I think it makes sense that she'd be a closet lesbian with a shit ton of internalized homophobia. She probably knew about Vaggie's sexuality and held a lot of resentment towards her before tearing off her wings. Maybe she was even attracted to her and was so repulsed about it that she redirected her self-hatred to Vaggie.

2. I think it could be better for Adam's character.

Let's just think about it. This character has a very distorted view of women, he has a fixation on them and hypersexualizes them. So the idea of this horny man, who always sees women with sex colored glasses, being good friends with a hot female below him in the hierarchy with no sexual or romantic interest whatsoever is nice to me. It'd work as sort of a redeeming quality in regards of his relationship with women, and I personally think this man is very redeemable. Let's hope he gets a second chance!

Still! All of this trust and comfort and team feelings can be read as romantic and I certainly wouldn't mind if it becomes canon! They could be the best villain couple!

Summarizing, these two are soulmates, end of the story. They're worse together, but also probably provide the other of a very needed company.

I have no clue if Adam will actually come back, but if he doesn't, I'll feel very bad for Lute. Yeah, yeah, she's an evil bitch, I don't care.

i hate to be a hater but here’s a little yap about ep 6 of the pjo tv show

- i was soooo disappointed in this episode! i literally got bored halfway through LMAO and kept getting distracted which was so upsetting!! because the lotus hotel is one of my favourite chapters of the lightning thief!!

- starting from the beginning; i wish wish wish that we’d gotten the ‘you’re my friend, seaweed brain - anymore stupid questions?’ moment because i just love that moment

- but if they weren’t going to give that moment to us surely they could’ve at least given us?? something??

- instead of just luke’s fan service-y ‘old married couple line’

- i also think the whole the trio things tlt is clarisse thing is just?? underwhelming. the show hasn’t done a very good job at making us really understand the stakes here!!! it feels like they’re just fucking around and i don’t like it!! like they literally missed the deadline!! and that didn’t even feel like a big deal!! that should’ve felt earth shattering!!

- also where was the zebra. where was percy being able to talk to the zebra :(

- i wish also that they’d done more with grover in the start of this ep - they could’ve showed us his character rather than just giving us a massive exposition dump

- the EXPOSITION!! i was fine with it in the first few episodes, bc like the book isn’t exactly perfect with exposition either but it’s actually getting to a point where i think it’s taking me out of the story!

- why why why did they skip the lotus hotel stuff??? omg! i can understand some of the other changes (e.g. waterland) but the lotus stuff would’ve translated soo perfectly to screen!! it would’ve been such a good way to build tension without having the characters ohtroght saying to the audience “this is the lotus hotel. time doesn’t move properly here, and if you’re not careful you can forget who you are.”

- i still can’t believe that they didn’t adapt the book this chapter! it would’ve been so perfectly suited for screen! this tv show also has a tension/stakes problem so it would’ve been a great way to help fix that

- also they’re meant to be TWELVE ! ofc they come across a hotel with infinite food and games and money and love it! the whole point is that across the series we’ll see them grow and become more wary of these things! i could understand why they made the change with medusa, but them knowing what they were walking into here just felt like such a boring choice

- and if nothing else the lotus hotel episode should not be boring!!

- also why are we talking about may castellan🤨the reason it has so much impact in the og series is because you’re putting these pieces together and then it all just hits you

- but here it’s just like…

- and hermes’! i don’t have an issue if they wanted to include hermes’ in this scene - cancel me but i think lmm lowkey ate - but i don’t understand why they would do it in this very expositiony way. and are we not meant to think that hermes’ is neglecting luke too?? at least until som?? if i was writing this and i reallly wanted to include hermes’, i feel like there are sooo many different ways to include him that would’ve read sooo much better. still brainstorming what those ways are, but point still stands

- i did think the taxi scene was really funny tho sue me

i hate to be a hater because i really wanted to love this show! and i really did enjoy some specific moments and episodes! but i just wish they’d done a closer adaptation of the book - i think they’re trying to do way too much way too soon and they need to just let the characters and the story breathe for a bit before trying to really go heavy in with all these really in your face themes and exposition

EDIT: I just realised I watched till ep 2 without realising and put some ep 2 content on here as well, so I'll be making a seperate post with some more content from both the wos in a bit!!

MONN guess who’s watched ep 1&2 for our #vvrewatch2024!! i was legit kicking my feet, giggling like a 15 year old, going absolutely BALLISTIC at peun and talay and their universe travelling friendship 😭😭😭

here is a brief rundown of my thoughts on these episodes. there are definitely SEVERAL more things that I thought/felt while watching but your girl isn’t so inept with an online community watch party hehe. don’t you worry, though!! that shall definitely get better in the coming few weeks!! now for the rundown

1. how young were our boys?? like ik they’re both old enough (older than me at least!!) but do you see they were such babies??? ohh man i missed my clumsy talay and my cutely annoying peun 😭😭😭 i mean just look at them mon

2. i cannot help but notice and appreciate how much care and attention this show was made with. like look at the colours in this picture

i wish i’d taken a video of this scene because what mastery. the colours, the angles, the background score, the sets, the sheer artistry of this production never ceases to amaze me and you shall be hearing a lottt more about it from me in the coming weeks, my love.

3. borrowing from my previous point, this show is soo magical, mon. like this point is just an appreciation for moments like the one below. i remember watching this one with goosebumps because the lighting, jimmy’s singing, js’s acting, the camera angles everything just makes you feel like you’re in a dream. maybe that’s how it was for peun & talay over here because i’m universe travelling ???? and i found someone from my own universe ??? like what??? too good man, i really cannot fall in love with this show enough

4. i do not have a picture for this, but throughout these eps, in the scenes where you see the switch between sea and ohm, there are so many instances where you can see the confusion/hope/conviction in sea’s face (it also translates into ohm’s btw) as he tries to get this pakorn to talk to him and get back to his universe/life. i’ll take a picture to show you in my next post maybe (because a girls texting you from work lmaoo) but this was just one of those parts where you could see the care and attention that went into making VV

5. bonus point. this scene was hilarious 🤣🤣 sea swearing will always be soo cute to me, like look at this cutie patootie swearing heheheh

6. second bonus point. again no pic, but what a gift ep1 must’ve been for the bad buddy fans?? since vv was my first bl, i was admittedly CLUELESS during my first watch of the show. with this rewatch though, since i’ve already watched bbts, i can really see how much people would’ve lost their minds during ep 1&2. the fact that we even got milklove??? chef’s kiss 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

that’s all of my thoughts for the first 2 eps mon!! i cannot wait to hear your thoughts babe, and sooo excited for this communal rewatch experience :)))

Ashton Greymoore for the character ask meme

First impression: I was obsessed with them from the start tbh. When the first ep of c3 dropped I hadn't started watching cr yet but I had enough cr mutuals that I saw all the new characters and when I saw that two of them were a nb rock guy and their nb robot friend?? I was obsessed. Instant favourites.

Impression now: I was correct lol. Ashton and FCG are still tied for my c3 faves.

Favorite moment: There are sooo many moments but the bit where Ludinus casts feeblemind (or something?) on Kadija, and Ashton comes in and is just... so gentle with her... That bit hit me sooo hard and is still my favourite Ashton moment. I think it's such a good representation of who Ashton is, the way he cares so fiercely for people who've been hurt by the world, and the way you can tell that he understands what it's like when your mind is working against you... ohhhh boy.

Idea for a story: I want to write a Fearne/Ashton/Chetney ot3 fic so bad lol. I think there is soooo much potential with those three.

Unpopular opinion: I actually really like Ashton's character design? I've seen a lot of people redesign Ashton bc they don't like the red clothes with the purple and green skin, or they don't like drawing the crystal hair... But I never found their look to be clashy? I also think it's fun that in a world where people have unnatural hair and skin colours, they won't necessarily be matching their clothes to their hair and skin lol...

(But also I have no problem with people who do redesign them! Redesigns are fun!)

Favorite relationship: Ooh that's tough... Ashton and Orym have sooo much potential and sooo many great scenes together and I can't wait to see how their relationship evolves, platonic or romantic... But also special shoutout to Ashton's relationships with FCG and Chetney and Fearne because I love those ones a lot too.

Favorite headcanon: Literally anything that @masterqwertster has written in their Rockin' It series has been adopted into my genasi biology headcanons... That series is great.

watched eps 1 and 2. i only wanna talk about stuff i haven’t seen hashed out a million times. because im tired

heres what i LIKED:

like i said, the designs are sooo good. i LOVE the designs

the childhood pics of velma and daph were sooo cute

velma’s mom is sweet :) i like her from what we’ve seen. i doubt she left i bet shes part of the mystery

velma dealing with hallucinations/trauma and fred dealing with his dad making him feel inferior masculine-wise could be really cool plotlines if they were in a better adult scooby adaption

the guy whose leg gets cut off was a funny gag. thats the kinda gory joke i wanna see in an adult scooby adaption

“500 DOLLARS?? THATS LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS”

the drugs being named after their catchphrases is funny

velma and daphne’s romance so far is really cute and probably the best part of the show. yeah i know velma tried to kill her in episode 1 i really dont care at this point

daphne’s writing has its issues but shes still the best member of the gang in this one

the mystery is interesting and i wanna see how it plays out. im interested to see that aspect of it

heres what i DID NOT LIKE:

the meta 4th wall breaking shit. all of it. at this point im SO sick of this trope just let it die and make something genuine and beautiful for once

fred’s voice is Not Good. velma and daphne’s voices sound good at least but i dont like fred’s voice acting. i think glenn howerton could be a great voice actor for another character but it just doesn’t sound like fred to me

velma’s dad being verbally abusive to her and velma being mean to her stepmom. what an unhealthy family

shaggy calling velma a bitch. literally evil

SWEET BUT PSYCHO IS IN THIS FUCKING SHOW DIE DIE DIE

all the other factors that people have talked about ad nauseum. the metoo joke. the h*tler joke. the jokes about fred’s genitalia. so on and so forth.

emphasizing that shaggy isn’t a stoner doesn’t really hit. either make him smoke weed, or don’t bother bringing it up. you can’t have it both ways

this could have been an original property and NOTHING would change. they really did just make this a scooby doo IP to make as many people angry as possible. i 100% believe that.

it’s just not funny. even if everything offensive was removed, it just wouldn’t be that funny of a show.

MISC THOUGHT: i dont really give a shit that scooby isn’t in this show. other members of the gang have been absent before and it’s been fine. he’ll be okay

anyway. im not viscerally angry rn. it had a few things i liked and am probably going to cling to but overall it was shit. i think waiting for a bit to watch it softened the blow. if i had went in completely blind, i would be seething at this moment. but i already did my seething

Sahara Sensei to Toki-kun (2023) ep. 4

Ongoing Review: It keeps getting better. Ongoing Rating: 8/10

Summary: Yanki remakes himself after falling for his class teacher. Yanki’s senpai and senpai’s adoptive brother have strained relationship thanks to love.

Pairing: Class teacher X Yanki Side-pairing: Senpai X Kouhai adoptive-brothers

What I liked:

# Two classic BL tropes at once: sensei X student & adoptive brothers

I didn’t expect these tropes to come-up in these times - when BL is getting so much attention from non-fu(腐) people [not that all fu people enjoy these tropes equally] with their different sensitivities and sensibilities. It helps that the source is shonen ai.

There is no escaping the shonen ai wave, I guess.

I love the entanglement between the pairings. I love how sport and pain are entwining the characters. Todo senpai and Icchan sensei share this bond that feels so warm. Todo stops Sahara from completely brushing off Toki’s advances by always bringing it up. He even apologized to Sahara for being rude to Toki. Sahara too is maintaining his closeness with Todo while advising him. I also enjoyed how yandere-ish Toku-chan (Todo kouhai) is. Loved how he enlisted Toki to talk to Todo senpai by bribing him with a photo. What I liked the best was how Toki employed his yanki repute to save Todo senpai from guilt about wanting to back-off from the match.

I am happy that it was Todo senpai’s romantic interest and words that made Toku-chan run away from home. Such a perfect storm in the making. I am awaiting the thundershower and the rainbow.

# Sahara sensei

The actor is excellent. He got those fleeting expressions which are priceless. It is a haven of hope in the deluge of not-so-great acting and idol acting in a lot of Japanese BL.

Two most eye-catchy moments:

His little eye twitch when Toki-kun brings up the swimming past.

Sahara’s expression right before Toki-kun headbutts Todo.

# Delinquent moments

I thought since Toki-kun is reforming himself, we won’t get anymore yanki moments. I am so happy the narrative didn’t set that aside. That headbutt scene was sooo good. I also liked Toki confronting Todo senpai. While I really want a sarashi bearing yanki spirits like Honda in a BL, I’ll take what I get and be grateful.

# Forgotten past

Another classic BL trope. I am somehow glad this popped up. Sensei semes (I assume) are complicated by power-imbalance which if not balanced by warmth and vulnerability would not suit the breezy style of this BL.

# White moonlight* who brought Sahara to his knees and Toki-kun who would scoop him up, probably

Now that I have seen previews of Sahara on his knees (while white moonlight walks on), I am very excited for his past. I was super queasy about Sahara’s white moonlight, but now that I have Toki-kun’s punch to look forward to I am all in. I am also eagerly looking forward to the mirroring of that scene with Sahara kneeling in rainwater in the past and Sahara kneeling in lake water in the present with Toki right behind him. Toki probably have to grovel hard after punching his sensei.

The bloody sweet kiss being Sahara's first helped too.

# Wardrobe choice and colors

The basketball match day costumes are particularly good, imo. Sahara is softened without his physical education teacher outfit meanwhile Toki-kun dresses up in blue. Blue hue is used to tone the frames that day. While the coloring leaves much to be desired, it is not overtly moody. Just enough to step away from the brightness that permeated the frames so far.

# Location exploitation

So many locations in and around the school. It feels open and enjoyable. The delinquent sure knows all the nook and corner and his sensei (who is also his senpai) knows how to get their faster. A lot of BL have very tight feel in terms of ambience thanks to under exploitation of available space. This one is a blessing.

What I didn’t like:

I know I am nitpicking, but what were they thinking. They gave us so many exquisite shots in this episode. They clearly know how to do a good job.

White moonlight – in Chinese, Tamil and Malayali cultures (among other probably), white moonlight refers to love-interest. It is frequently in reference to someone you don’t end up with but has had profound impact on you.

KinnPorsche Ep11 Lines of Power

You know the drill by now: I'm here to talk about lines of power, staging, and framing in KinnPorsche.

D: I'm a day late. Apologies. My power went out yesterday... which, as @antique-forvalaka pointed out to me, is pretty funny. Totally different line of power.

This post focuses mostly on the first sequences with Vegas, Pete, and Khun Kan (or however we feel like spelling his name today). I won't be showing anything graphic, but there's some camera angle work that is SO interesting that I gotta dive into extra detail.

I have a few fluffier images later to lighten up the post, though, I promise. 😉

Pay close attention to the camera tilts (aka the Dutch angles) throughout this scene. I can't even cover everything because there are sooo many shots and angles, but I'll call out my favorite bits.

The two pics above establish the tilts. Vegas's angle tilts left, and Pete's angle tilts right. Their angles are leaning away from each other, like the opposing poles of magnets.

Be careful how you watch the scene... sea sickness may occur. There's lots of tilting back and forth, and when the cuts are fast, I feel like I'm on a boat that's rocking with the waves, very discomfiting.

Then we get a disruptor coming in. Hello, Khun Kan (Kun, Gun, whoever the hell you are).

This shot is so severely tilted, and Daddy Scarfs-a-lot has a biiiiiig thick line of power at his back with that unobstructed column in the foreground. He stepped in, took control of the room, and is like a crushing power looming above both Vegas and Pete.

What do we have here? Vegas is the focus in this shot, and his angle changed. THIS. THIS GOT ME.

Vegas has gone from the one abusing to the one being abused. He's taken on Pete's tilt, going to the right.

I see what you did there. I SEE IT. And I am so impressed by this choice. 🤌

Khun Namechanger takes a deep breath, cools his emotions, and returns to practical decision-making. He brings the scene into an upright position for the moment. The vertical column to the right helps steady the rocking boat that is this entire scene (though only briefly).

After Papa Goatee leaves, Vegas resumes his left-tilt angle.

FIRST SHOT: Oh hey, look, the column is tilting left, so that screws up the tilts from the establishing shots, doesn't it?

NOPE.

In the top pic here, Pete's head serves as the right tilt. If the camera were also tilted the way it usually is for him, his head would practically be horizontal, which wouldn't be any good. So Pete's right tilt still remains in effect, only with his head.

SECOND SHOT: There we go, back to normal with the pillar leaning right. Pete's head in both shots? Parallel. SO PARALLEL. Holy crap.

This is so good it blows my mind. 🤯

If anyone decides to break down every single angle from theses early VP scenes, link me, please? I'd love to see it.

Tableaus! Beautiful tableaus once again! (I explain what a tableau is back in Ep 5 LoP.) These really look like they could be sets on a live theatre stage.

Mostly I want to say how much I appreciate what they've done with P'Chan here.

This demonstrates a great way to accomplish a lot without any dialogue, using the staging to tell a story.

In the first shot, P'Chan is off to the side. He isn't really necessary to this conversation. Then for the Porsche scene, not only is his gun out, but he's looming like an avenging angle.

Peak comedy.

This is my freebie for this post. I haven't gotten a freebie for ages.

It's pretty. I like it. I could stare for hours.

Oh, and there's a damn reflection again. This show drives me mad.

Tankhun is so big here, and Porchay is so smol.

Tankhun's size is emphasized in multiple ways:

Tankhun can't even fit in the frame — the top of his head is getting cut off, emphasizing his stature.

Tankhun is in the foreground, whereas Chay is in the mid-ground.

Tankhun's fluffy jacket more than doubles his width.

These details all add up to make Chay look even more child-like than usual, out of proportion to Tankhun. His smolness is perfect for a scene where Tankhun basically adopts Chay as another little brother.

In this scene, Kim finally (at long last) makes a big breakthrough in his investigation.

Check out the background! It's an open doorway, a direction, a way forward, even if it isn't the direction he expected his sleuthing would go.

Bro i just finished season 3 and there’s too much mileven ;-;

I mean I do think they’re cute but NOT ROMANTICALLY. Platonic eleven is where its at.

It makes me lose hope lowkey but then I remember that season 4 exists and Mike Wheeler is NOT straight at all. As straight as a mfin circle. You cant tell me he wasn’t infatuated with Eddie CMON its confirmed he even grew his hair out to be like him ��

I get scared sometimes tho 💀 like what if they don’t break up. But they def will. Honestly as long as Mileven breaks up PLZ

Mileven just doesn’t have that chemistry that Lumax and Jancy and even Elmax and Byler have. And they never will and its so OBVIOUS like you don’t even have to be a Byler to notice it. Bro even one of my teachers said Byler has so much more chemistry than Mileven and she thinks will and Mike should get together and I love her for that 😭 and shes like in her late 40s sooo

It’s not even delusional to think it’ll be canon like there’s stuff everywhere cuz everything is so intentional. Its so POSSIBLE and in my opinion they ARE endgame 100% idc you cant change my mind.

I mean the szn is really good and I like the aesthetics too like the MALL and the OUTFITS r all so cool. it’s fun I mean I love Stranger Things but I just hate how apart Will and Mike were the whole season and the way Mike ACTED like dude chill tf out 💀💀 and then Will was hardly ever shown again, this is like the last few episodes of the season.

But ofc we have the famous “its not my fault you dont like girls!” Mike, your internalized homophobia is showing 🤭

Its funny cuz I always LOVE the first 2-3 episodes of each season and then obviously it gets sad 😭 and hella action too but its still good BUT I HATE WHEN CHARACTERS DIE LIKE POOR ALEXAI WTF?? He deserved better and so did Bob obviously.

Nobody better die in season 5 istfg. Like all of the OG cast has to survive PLEASE LET THEM LIVE.

I also watched the first ep of season 4 and I love Chrissy but ofc, vecna put her out of her suffering, and unfortunately I think Will is also gonna get vecnad in szn 5 cuz my boy has been thru it ALL. When is he not being hurt in some way he deserves nothing but happiness.

Like whats gonna happen after Will confesses to Mike? I mean I still can’t believe it, it’s actually happening and the painting and all that and then he’s gonna be so sad cuz he’ll think Mike doesn’t feel the same and I have SO many fanfic ideas honestly

Also I adore Elmax SO MUCH I honestly wish they could be canon I just love them they’re so prefect for each other. Max is the #1 Mileven anti lmao. I keep remembering how she wanted to be friends with Mike in szn 2 but he was so rude to her like BRO WTF. I still like Lumax but like…consider Elumax.

But El deserves better and she does deserve to be on her own away from Mike.

Also Robin’s coming out scene will never not get me I LOVE HOW SUPPORTIVE STEVE IS i freaking love Steve I mean like honestly who doesn’t?

And also Jancy had that “oh we’re just friends” moment before they got Murrayed like Jopper. Murray getting matchmaking all the Byers? PERIOD. He better finish that in season 5.

Review: Destined With You (2023)

An instant classic...for some

Synopsis: Being a civil servant is not the easiest job, and for Lee Hong Jo, its only made worse by being transferred to a team that can't stand her. Her first assignment on this team is to demolish a centuries old shrine, which is held on the private property of Jang Sin Yu, a sharp lawyer haunted by a curse as old as the shrine. Her efforts surface a spell book with a mysterious past that only she can use. In need of a miracle, Sin Yu makes a deal with Hong Jo to use one of the spells on him, in a move that ultimately sets their fates in motion. Can love bloom in cursed soil, or will they be cut red-handed?

MZ Overall: 9/10, you had me at "I am Groot"

... aaaand absolutely not before "I am Groot." Seriously, I almost gave up on it early, thank god I didn't. When I saw the love triangle blooming I stuck around and am glad I did. If you are looking for a romcom that hits all the hallmarks (past lives, love triangle, jealous ex, etc.) you are in the right place. The leads have great chemistry, though it does feel like they are sometimes off in their own little worlds. Rowoon (as Jang Sin Yu) is great at playing a love-sick character, and Jo Bo Ah (as Lee Hong Jo) is the perfect ingénue AND doomed shaman--talk about range. Definitely give it a watch, this is easily one of my top favorites of the year (right behind Love to Hate You, of course).

Jang Sin Yu: ThAtS A cRiMe!!!

Ok, I got that out of my system. This was my second Rowoon drama and now Netflix thinks he's the only guy I want to see on my screen. I'm not mad at that, but I do think if his role in this and Extraordinary You (2019) are any indication, I may need a little bit more time before I can handle the brand of lovesick desperation that he brings. Not a bad thing, but much like candy you can have too much of a good thing. I will be looking out for his stairs scenes going forward, in much the same way I have cataloged Hyun Bin's elevator scenes. (It's an art people!)

This show strikes a near-perfect balance between time spent on the side characters, developing the main couple, fanning the flames with the love rivals, and hinting at the past lives of this group. Seriously well done, I did not have any complaints in this area. Really my only gripes would be the first few episodes, which really tested my resolve on supporting womens' wrongs. If it were not for the next episode previews at the end, I would not have made it past episode three. After that, it's smooth sailing with lots of laughs, drama, and suspense as the many mysteries of the show unfold. Those first eps are why this only gets a 9/10 for me though. Otherwise, A+ work!

As I sat down to write this review, it occurred to me that the setup for the show was kind of similar to Parks and Rec, if you're mainly looking at the fact that the context for the show is a municipal parks department, leading to lots of outdoor events and internal politicking. It also works in the comedy department, because both shows had me absolutely ROLLING with laughter at the absurdity of some of the stuff going on. I cannot recommend this drama enough!

AC Overall: 7/10, could've been great but

It took me sooo long to finish the show, even on 1.5x speed (thank you, Netflix). And I was so excited at first! Like MZ, I thought the first few eps were...off, but once the show fully planted its feet I fell for the silliness, especially the supernatural love-spell aspect of the drama, and the stupidity with which those entranced acted "because of it". But the show ultimately became unbalanced, and the fantasy charm faded to reveal...a few thriller episodes within a cute and silly rom-com. It's not bad, just...took a turn I wasn't looking for at the time.

Honestly, its fine if you don't take it too seriously, and don't barf at cute moments like I currently do. Solid, just know what you're getting in to. It's definitely a cutesy rom-com with a dash of thriller and pinch of fantasy.

AC Review (with miiiinor spoilers):

It wasn't all bad! I cheeeesed at Sin Yu inadvertently confessing his "love" for Hong Jo against both of their wishes, and was curious about how Hong Jo's crush on her second lead Jae Gyeong would play out considering. It was a pretty unusual and juicy love triangle at first, especially with the fantasy aspect of Sin Yu's feelings...and possibly Jae Gyeong's...but somewhere they decided to ignore the whole love-spell part of the drama and Sin Yu just--accepted his love for Hong Jo? And Jae Gyeong barely put up a fight. And and I wasn't convinced Hong Jo actually had feelings for Sin Yu, I feel like he just wore her down with pretty words and concern. And and and I just kept thinking of Legend of the Blue Sea the whole time--much better fated love fantasy drama. But alas, I got too far along to just stop.

Hong Jo's character annoyed me quite a bit. She had a way of acting shy most of the time, but would suddenly talk with her chest at other moments...it's personal, but I really dislike the demure act when it's clear it's not real. But, Rowoon as Sin Yu made up for it in the beginning. The character was played and written well; we could feel the (delicious) inner turmoil when he recognized his feelings.

Overall, this was a drama-that-couldn't for me. But I must admit, the early, fun moments of Sin Yu fighting his inexplicable love for Hong Jo were classic in itself.

[Sorry for my baby english] Does 12 ep is the end and 13ep is a special?

Tsurune story by Kotoko Ayano is so good and Kyoto Animation destroyed it. I can't believe how bad animeTsurune is, and they still call it adaptation. This anime has nothing to do with adaptation, it's completely different story, everything is different (story, personality, events, relationship). KyoAni made this story ridiculous, boring and homophobic.

Tsurune is my favorite story and I had high hopes for season 2. I thought they'll do better than season 1. Ohh I was sooo wrong. Director really said: "Adaptation? What's that? *reads* That's too good, and gay, ew- *trows light novel into trash can*". Too many ridiculous moments like Minato forgot how to shoot, Minato hurts his nail so Seiya freaks out like Minato was dy'ing, Seiya-Nikaido "pee" moment (wtf was that?), etc. Most dialogues were on kindergarden level or weird - It feels like writers didn't have ideas about what characters should talk. Homophobic - yes, KyoAni got rid of every gay moment, and LN has it a lot! Director Takuya Yamamura is disgusting. Tsurune is about Minato and Masaki relationship, their bond, fate. Weird things happening to Minato and Masaki is there to protect him. Kyudo is right next to it. KyoAni completely disposed of MasaMina relationship. AnimeMasaMina feels like they're strangers, in whole season 2 we got only few seconds of strict master-pupil moment and that is it. They're not close, not a lil bit. Minato not thinking about Masaki all the time, about his body, touch, their alone time, how he wants Masaki only to himself, how he's afraid of losing him. We didn't get Minato' confessions and Masaki's scar doesn't mean anything. Masaki has more screen time with everyone else, especially with Seiya and Nikaido, than Minato! Minato doesn't feel like MC, he's like an emotionless ghost in this season, MC is Seiya, Nikaido and Shu right after him. KaiSei, RyoNao and SaseMoto also don't exist. So yeah, no boys relationships screentime but we got a lot of girls screentime and even het love…Takuya Yamamura is really disgusting. What are they gonna do with book 3 and Masaki's real name, past and family? Because right now, when they got rid of MasaMina relationship, Masaki's name doesn't mean anything also cuz it's connected with Minato. I have a feeling that season 3 will be worse than s2. KyoAni gonna ship Masaki with 'that' woman.

Artstyle, animation, music, soundeffects - I'm on my knees! No words, 100/10, chef's kiss, delightful, respect. I have only good things to say.

Imagine if we could get an adaptation of LN, all that good moments from LN on screen - how popular this anime would be! Pls, Kotoko Ayano don't listen to KyoAni, keep writing the novel like you did with 1&2 book.

Lazy in Space Thoughts Pt.2 Reanimated

Hey all! I recently watched the reanimated eps of Bee and Puppycat on Netflix and wanted to share.

Spoilers and all under the cut! 🐝 🐾

I really loved getting to see the older episodes reanimated in the newer style, the colors were spectacular! And I liked that they actually tried to set things up earlier like showing some of Bee’s dad, the ship under the ocean, and the ‘hands’. I also enjoyed seeing some new locations and outfits for Bee though, I hate to say I’m once again left with some mixed feelings

While it was nice seeing the newer style, the characters at times looked a little off? I don’t know if it’s because of the style but so often everyone looked off model. Deckard’s design stood out the most to me. Also sometimes the facial expressions weren’t as exaggerated in the style as much as it could’ve been

The episodes were rushed overall, so much was skimmed over and it seemed they only did that to shove other plot threads in from season 2 that already existed. In the 2nd reanimated episode, ‘who would want this’, Bee just has the gum randomly, they barely set up Bee’s dislike of water, and it doesn’t really end with her bonding a bit with Puppycat like before (he neither helps with the farm or saves Bee from the cats in the bathhouse).

Then reusing the video game temp job from Bee’s birthday in the original for a montage sequence in ‘who would want this’ actually made me a little sad. It felt so hollow when that was an episode I really enjoyed and related to Bee--her doing all the sidequests to distract from things she didn’t want to deal with and because it felt good to be good at something. Which is instead replaced with her making perfect donuts in the 3rd reanimated ep ‘What do you want to be?” by doing basically nothing...

Also in that ep she says she ALWAYS goes to the arcade for her birthday when in the original she didn’t like to do anything on her birthday because of the memories it brought up about her dad (and possibly her being sick). The moment between Bee and Deckard when she finds out he was leaving was also toned down and had so little emotional impact compared to the original. That was one of my favorite scenes and it felt like nothing here.

I found myself barely relating to Bee at all in this. and she emotes/reacts waaay less than before and lacks in dialogue a bit. Also Bee and Deckard’s relationship seemed watered down too. I didn’t get the idea that they’d known each other for years, it was written like they were casual friends instead. He didn’t even know when her birthday was in this.

Then Deckard and Cass just accept Cardamon being the landlord?? They only question it once and then start asking a CHILD to check out the house and kick out Toast??? It was so weird

Speaking of Cardamon, I don’t know why the emotional moments with him and his mom were so toned down when they a chance to do more with it. I think they could’ve showed a little more of how he struggled or why he has no caretaker. It’s just acknowledged that he’s alone once and then forgotten. I would’ve taken more of that than a pointless ‘origin story’ of how he ran into Sticky.

Puppycat’s character got some of the worst of it imo. he’s way more destructive and a jerk this time around for some reason? Somehow less fleshed out than before. I’m not sure what they were trying to get at with him. I was also confused at him not minding being a ‘pet’ when before he absolutely detested it and was often destructive because of others treating him like one or him frustrated not being able to do certain things. There were also sooo little moments between him and Bee that their relationship wasn’t built much.

So many of the jokes and memorable dialogue were lost too here and there. I was kinda disappointed to not have the “You took too long, now yo candy’s gone. That’s what happens--BAKOW!” Or “IM SHOVIN THE CROTCH ICE UNDER THE DOOR” Those were so much more memorable to me and some friends and I still quote stuff from Season 1 to this day lol

even gags like Puppycat mindlessly floating into Cardamon’s living room to watch Pretty Patrick in season 1 was gone

At the end, I was left with a sort of shallow reimagining of Bee and Puppycat Season 1 with certain plot threads and moments haphazardly spread about only to service Season 2. :( idk, maybe I just sort of hoped for a little more since they went through all the effort to reanimate it all? Guess I didn’t expect to have as similar disappointments as I did with Season 2. Anyway, feel free to share your thoughts, at least I’ll have some more lovely screenshots for you all! 🐝 💛 🐝

Yeah but Cough Syrup wasn’t just about Karofsky. . It was about Blaine too and his own mental health, and the melt down he’s about to have and following on from the slushie shit.

I always find it odd people pick up on a Hevans friendship - I know why. But really there were so many other Kurt friendships that weren’t developed and would actually make more sense. Kurtcedes was left, but he could also have been friends with other nd guys, or girls, but Sam for some reason is the one people talk about.

yeah okay i knew there was something about that first point and i was gonna mention it in my other post but im like on a roll here and i didnt wanna break and try and hunt down the post that explained all the meta xD like i see where the other anon (and everyone else with the same remarks) is coming from but also one time someone explained it really well to make sense for blaine so. i get it xD dont worry!!

and yeah i knooow a lot of the hevans "friendship" fans comes from him allegedly being set up as the original love interest for kurt slash people just hating blaine's guts for literally no reason

but idk obviously im not in that camp and maybe i did ship a teeny bit of hevans on the side but ive said before the more i see people talk about hevans (and blam) the less i want anything to do with it romantically. like im not against multishipping but they're not klaine alskfjsdkl i just dont subscribe to that bc its not interesting to me

but i would like a hevans friendship and they easily couldve sang a duet together in 2x04

likeee take a character like kurt, or blaine, or mercedes, or sam. where their good moments happen bc they are good people. vs characters like finn or rachel where most of their good moments come about only bc they have to fix the colossal fuck up they made 20 minutes earlier in the ep

which is why like yeah the hummelberry moment at the end of 2x04 is sweet on its own but rachel baby part of the reason kurt feels so lonely rn is bc you and your boyfriend were literally scheming behind his back to gatekeep sam from him bc two guys singing a duet together is gay and embarrassing aksjflsk like hello?? youre part of the problem

so ive also said this before but it wouldve been sooo perfect if sam were the one that came up to kurt at the end of the ep to say like hey the competition might be over but i think i owe you a duet so if you're still up for it..?

and then they could've sung together. it wouldnt have been that hard or that crazy or out there to write that in. glee writers hire me now and we'll all go back in time and fix this

the columbo of it all,,,, I love columbo. I love my lil detective. there's sooo many good episodes, here's an inconclusive list of my faves (since I haven't watched all of columbo, I'm only midway thru season 7 rn)

season 1:

murder by the book: any time jack cassidy is in a columbo episode you just KNOW it's gonna be good. the whole mystery gets undone by a horny grocery store clerk. I am not kidding. (also fun fact steven spielberg directed this one!)

lady in waiting: this woman is UNHINGED she is a GENIUS she is an IDIOT I hate her I love her she is EVERYTHING TO ME, DO YOU UNDERSTAND? she's the original evil girlboss

season 2: season 2 has like nothing but good episodes tbh you can't go wrong with a season 2 episode

etude in black: is so cleverly done, I love it I love it I love it.

dagger of the mind: is literally just macbeth. the shakespeare of it all is absurd I love it. the blocking of the final scene where it's the murderers with wax statues in mourning behind them like an actual greek chorus. it's insane. I'm obsessed with it. that's CINEMATOGRAPHY BABES

a stitch in crime: this one has leonard nimoy in it, which should be reason enough for you to watch it.

season 3: again, all hits! no flops!!

any old port in a storm: wine maker has intense homoerotic tension with columbo. columbo is a lil flattered by it.

negative reaction: dick van dyke plays a very fun killer!

season 5: there's a rumor I think that this was supposed to be the last season, so they took some wild swings.

forgotten lady: the way this one resolves made me cry! one of the top columbo episodes of all time!!

now you see him: !JACK! CASSIDY! seriously this is one of my other top columbo eps of all time

last salute to the commodore: the last ep of columbo at the time. very self indulgent. it's so funny.

season 6:

old fashioned murder: I think the most clever murderer we've had? the end scene where he does the ultimate kindness of telling her family that he was lying. god. that gets me. lieutenant firstname columbo ur my best boy

season 7:

murder under glass: OH it's a tasty episode.

make me a perfect murder: I know she did a murder but I think the murder she did was justified like she deserved to go apeshit just this once.
