Believe it or not, I wouldn’t. I have no interest in a ship that is toxic from both sides and lacks communication and trust. Even if El was a dude or Mike a girl I would not ship Mildud because it is ✨toxic ✨ , and they have both proved to be happier broken up and that they work better as friends.

Also, stop assuming I like stuff because it’s gay. That’s just weird and basically saying I have no judgment except of the fact that things are gay.

Melvin “Proof” I Came Across And My Take Against It

so i was bored and decided to check and see what the melvins were up to. i was surprised to see them actually have “mlvn proof” and somewhat resembling bylers in that way. however, i do have problems with what they said and i’m going to try and articulate my thoughts on the “proof” shown below:

here is what i think:

1) i think op is forgetting that immediately after el stood up to angela and whacked her in the face with the roller skates, mike looked at her, shocked, saying “what did you do?!”. he did not look like he was happy that she did that. clearly, this contrasts his reaction to when she stood up to HIS bullies, then he looked quite happy.

2) they were also this close to putting the pieces together when it comes to mike’s unhealthy idealization of el’s powers/his obsession with her as his “superhero”. whenever mike is in trouble, el is there to save/protect him. evidently this must have started his obsession with her as someone who can protect him and his friends, which is NOT necessarily something romantic (or healthy since he hyper fixates only on her powers and no other substantial quality of her’s).

3) the reason el wasn’t able to stand up to angela at the moment they chose to show was not because mike wasn’t there but because el tried using her powers – which she no longer had. mike may have been part of the reason el was pushed over the edge at rink-o-mania (including angela’s statement about hopper), but his subsequent reaction did not suggest that it was something he would’ve supported wholeheartedly.

4) the wheel’s significant and ties to “wheeler” is interesting to me not because of what op said but because of jonathan and argyle’s conversation in the van. jonathan brought up how the “wheels are plastic”, and if wheels = wheeler (in this case mike) then it could reinforce how mike was being like plastic, fake – not himself.

5) i just can’t see midleven (in the romantic sense) as a “united front” i am sorry. they are never on the same page and have so many communication issues that i feel vecna would sooner admit defeat than midleven ever working together as a unit.

op has some arguments but i don’t think they really set those arguments into context and what it actually means for mike and el’s characters. i like how op at least tries to come up with some sort of melvin proof instead of just saying “mike is straight!!1!1!”. however, i just don’t see how some of their arguments connect to each other/make sense in the way they are trying to maneuver it.
