Ok Alastor shippers of all sorts, I'm going to put in my two cents and before I get into I'm a pro shipper all around just don't be mean to each other and tags are there for a reason.
My credentials: I'm an gray ace, aro person who's been around Fandom a very long time. Personally I've been initiated with the “but al is ace aro so you can't ship him” discourse and first off that's not true both because we can date -I Have a long term Partner- and because I've explored a lot of my queer identity through Fandom and fanfics and I think others should get the chance to do the same. I'm sure a lot of people will learn they’re ace aro because of alastor. That being said ik a lot of you writers out there aren't ace aro and are new to the topic so I'm going to go over some of my personal suggestions of how you could make Canon compliant works. (And if you do any or find any please send to me I'd love to see it)
Oblivious Alastor
Canonically this man doesn't know he's an ace in the hole. And I don't believe an egomaniac like him would assume that there's anything “different” about himself. ik when I was a baby ace I thought everyone was just being dramatic basically before realizing I was the exception. I can see this going 2 ways.
Radiostatic (pre show): vox is obviously completely smitten with al and al sees dating a more powerful overlord as an advantage(which vox in the past was the more powerful of the two). And Al starts getting slowly more and more uncomfortable and vox gets pushy in a very manipulative way.
Radioapple: enemies to friends to lovers? After Al and Luci become close friends, Luci starts to catch feelings for Al and Al agrees to date him seeing as he is fond of him and he's a very powerful ally so why wouldn't Al date him? As the relationship progresses they’re both confused by Alastor's behavior. Luci tries to be respectful. You know maybe he's just very against pda. And al doesnt understand why he's not feeling the things he's meant to.
I can see Al reverse heteronormativity- ing his way into assuming he's gay because he's NOT straight.
Malicious intent
Same as the last one except Al knows he doesn't have feelings for them like that and is trying to be toxic and uses them. IE what if Al was a gold digger actually.
Maybe I am in love?
Al actually thinks that he MUST be feeling a romantic connection because this is the closest he's ever been to someone and once again, gets steadily more confused as he realizes what he and his partner are experiencing is different.
All of these can end in nice queer platonic bliss and I think any story where Al and his partner discover he's ace after establishing the relationship is inherently interesting.
Last note some ace vocabulary
Ace and aro are a spectrum. Typically with ace people they will self identify as either sex positive, sex negative, or sex neutral. With Al it's generally head cannoned that he's sex negative but that's not explicitly Cannon and sex positive and neutral aces are valid.
Sex negative: is self explanatory it's what everyone thinks aces are; I don't want sex ever the idea grosses me out ect.
Sex neutral: is when someone doesn't have the desire for sex but isn't repulsed by it either. If they are in a relationship and their partner wants to have sex they’re open to it but don't expect initiation on their part.
Sex positive: people have a hard time understanding this because it's the seperating of the need for sex from the want. Typically if a sex positive ace were to never have sex again they'd die happy but if they have a willing partner they are happy to participate. It builds intimacy. It feels good, it's nice but it's not the same as being allo and having that cardinal lust.
note: please know what type your head cannoning Al as in your works when writing it, although people of course can change which they feel they align with, it's important to know how he's feeling about it.
I'm not as familiar with aro terminology but like with ace it's more about the drive the need the anguish. Al wouldn’t in cannon crave romantic connection.
Like with ace it's not actually cannon what type of aro he is some aro people are completely repulsed by the idea of romantic relationships or they only like it in theory (which playing around with the idea of Al liking a relationship in theory but not in practice could be a lot of fun.)
The gray romantic umbrella are aro people who can have romantic attraction to some degree. They’re still aro you can head cannon Al as it but please do a little research into which one you think your version of Al would identify with there quite a few so I'll spare the list here.
Demi romantic is when someone can develop romantic attraction for very specific people, very rarely. These people won't be on Bumble but might fall for someone after knowing them for a few years (or an indeterminate amount of time, my timeline was a year and a half I shit you not) a lot of you are looking for that.
As for kink. Lots of queer people especially are into kink because it's intimate, it's physical, it requires trust but it's not actually inherently sexual a lot of the time. And we do know that Al likes torturing and being dominant so yeah he'd be kinky that's completely canon compliant.
At the end of the day Al is ace aro in the show and that's what counts. Have fun be creative, explore the depths of your queer little minds and please be nice to each other.
(and if any of you make works related to this please please please send them to me thanks)

I honestly hate how the shipping discourse for the show is all about which guy Katara should end up with and no one questions why we think Katara needs a boyfriend by the end or if she should have had one. Like the big problem with Kataang is it's treatment as necessary. I guarantee that a canon Zutara would have been similarly mocked and derided for how forced it was that these characters who had maybe three scenes of positive interaction in the whole show would suddenly be made the endgame couple in the finale, like it would be far more infamous than Kataang.
I don't agree that Kataang was treated as "necessary" as in "Katara NEEDS a boyfriend because a female character NEEDS to have a romance arc/subplot because that is a RULE of writting, not an optional thing to add to a story" but rather as in "This was literally set up, foreshadowed and developed from the beginning and we're not throwing it away just because the fandom latched onto a different idea" which is how good storytelling works.
Katara had plenty of moments that developed and challenged her as a character without romance being a factor. Her friendship with Aang was equally as meaningful and important to the story as their romance. Kataang might not be everyone's cup of tea - hell, for a while I was only lukewarm on it myself - but it is very far from this "problem" people act like it was.
But you are fully correct when you say Zutarians tend to act like Katara is only worth anything if she's with Zuko - that's why the overwhelming majority of them disregard EVERYTHING about her character to pretend she was "just Aang's girl even though Zuko is better" and their fanfics/headcanons have her do things like move to HIS nation, marry him and be FIRE Lady, dress only in RED, only care about the politics of HIS nation, and their kids only ever inherit HIS title and home (even in stories in which the South actually has stuff).
They disrespect and disregard Katara WAY more than the show or any Kataang fan I've ever seen ever did. The series actually treated her with a lot of respect - again, I'll never stop pointing this out, we hear HER backstory and motivations in the first minute of the show, while Zuko and Aang only got the same threatment 11 episodes later. The writers even made her suddenly go from "struggling to learn waterbending without a teacher" to "Self-taught prodigy" because they realized there'd be more opportunities for her character to shine if she was already great at it.

this also bother me. the fandom doesn't have a less than ideal view of anne rice because she didn't want smut of her characters. the fandom was upset at anne rice that not only would she dislike the porn, which is a perfectly normal response that anyone should be able to respect, but also went out of her way to legally persecute people to force them to take all of fanfictions down. all of it. even the most domestic coffe shop unhorny fluff was scrubbed off the face of the internet, forcing writers into create increasingly complicated way to ever publish their stories that, once again, also included the ones that were as SFW as you can get. consider again that her books themselves include things like Claudie, a vampire who eternally looks like a 8 year old child, basically in love with her own father figure and Lestat developing a sort of incestuous relationship with his own mother, that he turned into a vampire. Armand was a literal teen when he became the lover of Magnus and turned into a vampire himself, that later went to become the lover of Louis, again, while having a teen body. but a person writing about any of the adult characters having sex, that was worth having lawyers sending letters to them and scare them out of their minds. or not having sex at all, just having normal fun with these characters.
i'm not surprised that LO doesn't know or care about any of this because this is all old fandom history before she was obssesed with writing about how much Meg from FG and her self insert were so in love. i don't think either that she'd care even if she knew because when has LO ever cared about anyone but herself? have you ever wondered why people put disclaimers at the start of their fics saying "i don't own these characters"? nowadays that practice is almost completely gone for good reason, because it should be obvious that if you're making fanart then the canon is not yours anyway, but it was originated because of authors like Anne Rice who actually went out of their way to try to control fandom because they couldn't accept fandom existing.
Anne Rice was a complicated person who went through a lot of changes on her life and i'm not interested in portraying her as a eternal villain. later on her life she went out of her way to write her own smut series. as far as i know, she ended up just not caring about fanfic anymore and writers are not facing the same trouble they did before.
but to say that all she did was just say she didn't like smut of her character and nothing else is a bold faced lie, either by ignorance or pure malice i don't know, but a lie all the same.

Write and Create for Yourself First | thoughts on fanfiction, art and external validation
When it comes to fanfiction, or any creation for that matter, so many people judge their own fics, art and talent by the amount of interaction with it.
I only know because I recently used to be one of them.
For people who seek external validation, if they have a story that has a thousand kudos or notes, they consider it worthy.
But if it has only 2, or god forbid none, then they feel like it wasn’t good or they “wasted their time” writing it. But that’s just not true, and it’s such a hurtful way of thinking about yourself and your own work. It’s only human to feel drawn towards external validation, but it’s your choice whether or not to chase it.
I implore you to think about it a different way, and hopefully make you feel a little better if you are the kind of person who thinks this way. Because in most cases, kudos, likes, comments, interaction—it’s a reflection of exposure, your current following, the luck of an algorithm, the traffic to that specific corner of the internet, or just how niche of a genre you’re creating in.
Not talent.
Think about this: imagine someone you idolize, respect or even envy the talent and success of. It could be a famous musician, author, a fellow fic writer—anyone who is successful and talented.
Now ask yourself: if no one in the world, not one single soul, ever saw any creation this person ever made…
Would it make that person any less talented?
If that famous musician never shared their music with anyone, are they no longer talented? Are they any less worthy of feeling confident in themselves and their work? Should they feel any less about themselves because they don’t have anyone validating their talent and ability?
If your favorite book writer kept their stories to themselves and never shared them, are they any less brilliant?
No.
But society makes it seem like it.
Think about your favorite books or movies or fanfics—(not your own, but someone else’s work that you love)—that don’t have a lot of kudos or likes or engagement. You love this story/creation. It touched you and you can see how incredible it is. Does it matter that the rest of the world doesn’t? Does it make you love it any less? Do you look at the kudos count and then say “Oh, wait, now it isn’t good anymore.” How many times are you commenting on something saying “I can’t believe this doesn’t have more comments/likes/etc!”
Do you realize how many people say that about the fics you’ve written that have little engagement? Even if they don’t tell you, there are people who are thinking it. There are countless posts and comments on tumblr from people who admit they don't comment because they simply are shy or don't know what to say.
External validation is a dangerous hole to fall into. Because the more you reach for it, the more you rely on it, the deeper you fall.
The easiest way to avoid falling into that hole is to look at your creation the moment you’ve created it, and capture the feeling you have right then and there. What does it make you feel? Did it help you cope? Did it make you smile or laugh? Did it make you cry and ease some of your emotional weight? Did you just feel that you created an incredible thing, and that you love it so much?
Someone liking it or not liking it doesn’t change what you feel in that moment.
Sometimes, you just have to wait for your time. Maybe your creation needs a few years and then it’ll get noticed and you’ll be rolling in success.
Does that mean you’re supposed to feel sad and invalidated until that happens?
If you currently have a creation that’s seen some external validation already, what would you tell your past-self who just posted it, and is waiting for engagement, thinking it isn’t good enough until they get some?
Think of all the time you spent sad, waiting for everyone else to change your mind. Think about how much power you’re giving them! Imagine that person whose underappreciated fic you love. If they were sad about it, what would you tell them?
Because sometimes, there are just things that won’t get exposure. There are just tv shows that won’t get picked up or movie deals that fall through and never get made, books that never get published and fics that never get read.
And if that is devastating to you, I ask you why you’re writing them in the first place.
Of course we all want to share our creations and get comments and positive reviews. And they are wonderful and fulfilling and inspiring and motivating! But if they are the only reason you are creating, if you always feel you wasted your time on a story that receives little interaction, you will feel empty so much of the time. You will always be wanting more, because you are focused on the quantity of them. When you are in this mindset, the moment after you finish reading the most heartfelt review you’ve ever gotten... you’re already waiting to get the next one.
But instead, if you create for yourself, if you sit in that moment of creation and you feel incredible about it, just between you and yourself… and you remember that feeling and that fact even after posting it publicly, everything else is just extra. It’s just the cherry on top. If you wrote that story because you needed to get something off your chest and you did, it doesn’t matter what someone else thinks of it.
If you felt incredible when creating art, then that art is incredible.
Hopefully, you are sharing your work with people, rather than writing it for them. Or, more accurately, for their positive feedback and compliments. Comments are sweeter when they aren’t viewed as payment to you or validation, and are instead like a gift to you.
You are always happy with your work if you view it this way.
You are sometimes happy with your work, depending on the actions of other people, if you rely on external validation.
Obviously you can do whatever you want! It’s your life and it’s your creations. But I can at least tell you that you will be a lot happier if you create for yourself first and take everything else as a wonderful surprise addition.
Because as someone who has climbed back out of that external validation hole and saw the sun for the first time in a long time, I can at least tell you that it has been so much happier for me.
.
I wrote an addition to this post to answer this question: How do you write for yourself first when you are making writing a professional career? That post is here!

Memories, Held Back Feelings and a Vow (Snow Owl AU)
After much, much, much, trial, error, self inflicted perfectionism, Grade A writer's block and sheer reluctance to finally post this, here’s my latest official fanfic.
The following takes place in an Alternate Continuity of the DC Comics Universe in which the character of Mary Lloyd Grayson, mother of Richard John 'Dick' Grayson' aka the first Robin, the Boy Wonder, not only survived the infamous performance of Haly's Circus at Gotham but later went on being a crime fighter in her right, hence Snow Owl.
I would like to dedicate this fic to my many friends and mutuals on this beloved hellsite for your patience, honesty, and support throughout this time.
I shall tag the following: @thattimdrakeguy @spider-jaysart @celaenaeiln @mothnem @lightdusk96 @camo-wolf @missmadness145 @starlightbelle @adalineozie @tarisilmarwen @sillymanwithocs @bluerene @nightglider124 @bluegarners @orange-s-mario @vampirehal @snothing @confusedhummingbird @lesbiananitafite @richard-grayson-wayne @batboyblog @gothicghost2000 @sbd-laytall @wisegirlandseaweedbrainforever
Of course as with anything; All characters, concepts and locations both in story and in reference are owned by DC Comics Inc. and Dc Entertainment, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery.
Please Reblog and/or Reply for any constructive criticisms. I will be more than happy to address them and they are very appreciated
And now, enjoy your feature presentation, thank you
As nighttime produced a clear and starry night that draped over the city of Bludhaven, its two protectors, Snow Owl and Robin the Boy Wonder had just barely wrapped up with patrol and stopped any plots and schemes from the superstitious cowardly lot that creates chaos in the streets. With the tight and combined efforts, the streets were safe, their job and their vow to protect innocents in pursuit of justice had prevailed, at least for the night. Thankfully, as they enter the bedroom window to Snow Owl’s room and slip off their respective boots before stepping on the bed right before them, they are reminded in their minds that the upcoming morning was a lazy Saturday so they could sleep in after such a wonderfully exhilarating night.
Since he goes first onto said bed, the Boy Wonder proceeds stepping unto the beige soft wall to wall carpeting, a quick yawn almost escaping his mouth as he does so. Shortly, his mother goes right after him, stepping off the bed on the opposite. As she closes the window right behind her, Snow Owl takes one quick last glimpse to the clear and star-filled skyline that hovered over the city they just finished patrolling across.
She looks to her son, now barely getting off her bed and stretching his arms out in hopes to loosen up that exhaustion he feels all across. “You know what, Snow Owl,” he says as he then lifts up one of his legs behind him, “We might need something much more discret for our security than just your window.”
His mother also proceeds to stretch out one of her own legs to shake off her own exhaustion, while shrugging her shoulders in agreement.
“Well, you do have a fair point there son. Last time I checked though we don’t have a chimney so sliding in like Santa Claus isn’t exactly an option as far as I know”, Snow Owl lightheartedly snarks while making her way to her dresser. From there, she takes out a light blue t-shirt and black sweatpants, meant to change into them once she showers off the dried up sweat and even grime they both got throughout this night.
Upon seeing his mother with some fresh laundry in her arms and realizing he best do the same, he makes his way to first his own bedroom for his own clothes to change into before heading for the bathroom.
“Don’t forget to make sure to get every single part washed up”, Snow Owl reminded her son while slipping off her domino mask and gloves, “you never know where any dirt or other stuff might be left on you...”
“Don’t worry, Mom, I got it”, Robin says with confidence and a firm understanding. “I'll also make sure not to take too long. We have to make sure the water bill doesn’t go up too high in how much we pay for it, right?”
Snow Owl nods. She remembers their last bill having an additional zero than their usual ones. She gives her son a thumbs up. “You got that right; I’ll make sure not to take too long as well. Good thinking.”
With a simple thumbs up to his mother, Robin also takes off his own mask and continues on his way. However, as he does so, there’s something about him, Snow Owl notices. For a briefest of seconds there, she thought she was looking at…someone else. Snow Owl cannot help herself from feeling a sort of…. feeling. Her love for her son allows her to see something in him. She cannot help but see…. her husband, the boy’s father in that smile, that confidence he exudes, just this sort of spirit present within him that reminds her of the man whose unfortunate tragedy those years ago molded the crime fighters they are today.
She closes her unmasked blue eyes as a sort of burning sensation starts slowly igniting in them. A sudden heaviness weighs upon her knees, her ability to stand up slightly slipping away and her breathing picks up. Grief, sorrow and loss. In trying to remember the good times and happy life she had with her husband, those emotions accompany them.
It’s a part of her that’s getting better every day but even after all this passed time, it’s still not easy to completely let go of. What does matter though are as such; in her and her son’s hearts and memories, her husband lives on, they both have brought in the criminals responsible for that loss to justice and above all else, they have each other. It’s those facts that helped Snow Owl overcome her grief numerous times before as it does now. She takes a deep breath in clearing her thoughts. Those thoughts might come back another day, but she’ll be a tad bit more prepared in dealing with them when the time comes. In the meantime, gently holding her domino mask in her hand and regaining her composure, Snow Owl fixes up her bed after the landing both Robin and her made on it and makes her way to the living room.
Once there, she takes note of the pillows, notebooks and pencils littered on the carpeted floor right in front of the couches. No doubt, her son was in the middle of homework duties before immediately jumping at the chance to join her on patrol. She cannot help but have a chuckle as she picks up the notebook and pencils, placing them on a nightstand next to said couches and the pillows back to where they go. Despite being one smart cookie, her son was never really the biggest fan of doing homework. But hey, at least he knows better than flunk it completely, lest he face her wrath. As she prepares to take her seat on the couch, finally giving her legs a break from their use throughout the entire day…. that feeling suddenly comes back to her. Next thing she knows, as her back lays down on the softness and smooth surface of the leather couch cushions, her mind has painted something else entirely for her eyes to see.
As she opens them, Snow Owl’s see…him. But wait is that…her son?
It can’t be right, his jawline looks a bit too firm, and the pupils in his eyes are a dark shade of green, almost emerald.
“Mary? Dear?”
That baritone in his voice and that nickname.
Suddenly the memory in her memory begins to play. She’s not in full control of her past self. She’s at that moment not Snow Owl, defender and hero for the downtrodden of the city of Bludhaven. She was Mary Elizabeth Lloyd-Grayson, wife of John ‘The Flying’ Grayson and mother of her son Richard, you can call him ‘Dick’ for short. Now, she’s not in the well-kept, simple and modern apartment within the smaller urban neighborhoods next to the gym she calls her job sight, she looks within her memories, finding herself at the small, thin steel made trailer, a bit more cramped in spacing but with also similar beige wall to wall carpeting. This wasn’t just a dream; this was her life.
She finally answers her husband who calls for her attention. “Yes John?”
John flashed a content smile as he heard his wife’s reply, “You know that I love ya, don’t ya?”
She nods with a peaceful and all too real smile on face. She doesn't even have to say a single word to let him know. John then leans to press a small yet all too loving kiss on his wife’s cheek.
“Well, it’s always good just to double check,” John says as he lifts himself off his seat and offers a hand for his wife to help her off her own like the gentleman he can be. She takes it and right on cue, both hear a familiar small voice call out from the entrance to the front door.
“Hey, guys! C’mon, we’re gonna be late for practice!”
Both parents chuckled at their seven-year old’s impatience since he was so excited to show them his newest tricks on the ropes. She cannot but smile upon seeing her little boy bounce on his two slipper clad feet right in front of the trailer door with a pouty look on his face. His father proceeds to lay a firm hand on his jet-black hair and slightly ruffle his fingers across it.
“All right, Little Man. We’ll be on the way”, John tells his boy with a firm smile. With her son excitedly leading the way and her husband by her side, she reaches for the handle of the door, turns it, and slowly opens the door, stepping out into the bright day ahead of them.
“Hey, Mom?”
A voice that belonged to her son but now very slightly older sounding snaps Snow Owl out of her memory. Her unmasked blue eyes open to see another smaller pair of blue eyes that belonged to her partner, her son. Instead of Robin the Boy Wonder, he was now Dick Grayson, clad in a blue cotton T shirt with an all too familiar red and yellow S shield that symbolizes Metropolis’ own resident hero, black sweatpants not dissimilar from his mother’s and in his hands his Robin outfit as he was taking the red, green and yellow modified acrobat suit to the laundry machine.
Upon bringing her senses back to the present, Snow Owl stands back up, remembering about her own clothes back at her bedroom and gives her a small smile.
“Sorry about that”, she says as she makes her way to said bedroom, “just was...,” she had to stop herself since usually, whether it was good memories or bad ones, any reminder of the life she had with John before it got so cruelly taken away always was a bit of a sore spot for her soul. She couldn’t bear having her son see if she could help it. He doesn’t need to see his mother in grief, he already has enough on his plate, especially his own reminders about the father he lost. Before even a sign of impending tears can make their way to her eyes, Snow Owl takes a deep yet quiet breath so that her curious son wouldn’t hopefully notice and collects herself before continuing her way to her bedroom...
“Were you thinking about Dad”, Dick asks just as Snow Owl reaches the hallway. She turns around with a surprised look on her face to see Dick’s own, which had a mix of curiosity but also...shame and guilt.
Unable to withhold her answer, Snow Owl sighs and looks at her boy with her head a bit down as she tries maintaining her composure. “Y-yes, Dick. I was”, she finally answers. Then it was her turn to ask something, “but, how do you know?”
Dick’s face scrunched up a bit upon hearing that, which immediately got her mother’s worry since she might have a suspicion about just how long he knew about her own grief despite herself trying to be strong as he is for her. Finally, Dick sighs sadly and looks up to his mother with his eyes having a guilty look on them before he finally opens his mouth to say what he has been meaning to for quite a bit.
“I... I kinda knew ever since at least... when we first moved in here”, Dick says with his voice beginning a hint of crack before taking a deep breath to collect himself before continuing with his answer. “It’s just... I sometimes hear you cry some nights when you can’t sleep, usually after you had a dream about what happened to Dad and well.... the fact he’s.... not here anymore. Is that true?”
Snow Owl stood there almost at a loss for words on how much her son knew about it all. Unable to come up with any counter at that moment, only able to nod slightly at her son’s inquiry.
Dick once more sighed sadly in guilt as he put his Robin outfit on top of a seat on the couch while taking a seat. “I just wanted to say.... I’m sorry.”
This got Snow Owl’s attention like something else, she was kind of expecting it but nonetheless found herself surprised. “w-Why would you be sorry?”
“b-Because....”, Dick once more had to breathe out before stating his answer, “because...I-I know I know shouldn’t worry about it since it’s your business, your own thing and all. I shouldn’t spy on you like that and….” Before Dick can go on, an ungloved hand rests upon his shoulders. He looks up to see his mother with a sympathetic look on her face.
“Dick”, Snow Owl says with an equally understanding tone, “you miss your dad as well?”
Once her question reaches his ears, Dick silently buries his face into his hands. He nods a ‘yes’ while his breathing starts getting a bit more ragged. He was trying best not to lose control of any impending tears himself.
“Dick,” Snow Owl calls with a concerned and worried tone to him, “Just breathe. Nice and easy, okay?”
Dick once more silently nods as he struggles to keep his breathing under control. After some effort and time put into it, Dick can collect himself just enough to speak coherent words again. He puts those words to the forefront by taking his face off his hands and looking up at his worried mother, tears seemingly wanting to be free from eyes but through sheer will of his own, he’s able to keep them in.
“Yeah,” Dick croaks out as he looks up to his mother’s worried face, “I miss Dad too.”
Snow Owl nods in understanding and sympathy. She now understands what goes through her son’s head with only a few words. They are both in the same boat regarding how that loss impacted them to this day more so than she thought. She does wonder something though before taking a seat next to him. “Well, why didn’t you tell me about that earlier?”
Dick takes a deep breath and clears his throat before looking back at his mother with hope for him, the tears in his eyes being all dried up. While the tears had certainly faded out, they left a sign via redness in Dick’s eyes. Nonetheless, he pushed himself onward with his answer. “It’s just that,” He briefly pauses to clear his throat before proceeding, “you go through enough. Some nights.... I....I can hear you cry yourself to sleep. Especially on Dad’s birthday...or yours.”
Snow Owl tries to reach a hand, but her son then continues.
“I mean...you have enough to worry about already. With your jobs, both at the gym and when you’re called up to protect Mrs. Drake, trying to keep our house clean,” Dick feels something in his voice start cracking very lightly before continuing, “me. It’s a lot, Mom and I can’t just make it worse and harder for you by bringing up Dad and how much I miss him all the time. Because...well, you miss him too.” Dick finally finishes, taking a deep breath to collect himself now that he has said what he needed. Now it was just a matter of his mother’s reaction to it.
At first, Snow Owl found herself at a loss for words once more. She hadn’t anticipated how much this life was hurting her son. The signs were all there though now that she can think; the dour look on her son’s face after dealing with bullies at school, the distant and heavy sighs he has whenever he visits the park and seeing other boys his age with their own fathers, while he’s there at the corner and just doing his own acrobatics or other such small things more or less with only his mother as his audience. In all that, all she was able to do was leave him be given he’s always been one to do it on his own. But she couldn’t just backpedal everything after what they had been through together. She takes a deep breath; she might not know what to say exactly but she has to say something. Something for her son to hear, something that can either cheer him up or get her message across to him. It’ll be preferable to remaining utterly silent. Damn if she does, damned if she doesn’t.
“Look, Dick, you’re right, I do miss your father as well”, Snow Owl says, hoping whatever words come out of her mouth will be some sort of breakthrough for him. “And yes, there are some moments and nights where I have thought of him and all he is, what he has done for our family back then and how much I’m sure he still matters to you and...
At that moment, Snow Owl freezes right in her tracks, looking ahead of her and seeing a truly distraught and baffled look on Dick’s face. That came out wrong, the tears in Dick’s began to reform, she had to do something about it, and fast if she is going to...
“Wait…what do you mean that you’re sure he still matters to me”, He was getting started with his rebuttal, Snow Owl for sure now knew she screwed this royal, and it was about to get worse, “Is that supposed to mean that…he doesn’t?”
She closes her eyes cause that Grayson temper was starting to quickly ignite inside of him, so best to let him let it here rather than trying to counter, it’ll only make far more violate. She sees Dick take a deep thought; he was going to say more, a lot more.
“Mom....What makes you believe that what happened to Dad doesn’t matter to me? Do you really believe that every single day I am reminded by my own memories of all those times we were all together and when we were happy doesn’t matter to me? You think the reason.... like just tonight Me joining you on patrol to make sure the people in this city don’t have to lose a loved one to crime like we lost Dad …. you think the reason is something other than Dad so therefore... It.......Doesn’t.... matter? Well get this, it does matter. My school, my crime fighting, where I’m from and what I do that isn’t crime fighting stuff. All that matters to me but who the hell are YOU to say that Dad doesn’t matter to me...Huh?! I get what you go through, why else do you think I try helping whatever I can; laundry, getting some days to make our dinners, paying our bills and watching out if we get things too pricey for us. You’re not the only one doing all that, Dad would’ve done it too, that’s why I do it because he would’ve...I can’t just let you be Miss Dad when I know how to do all that too, someone else must be like how Dad was back then. Thing is though” Dick was breathing heavily; he was losing more control of his tears now on the brink of spilling out of his eyes.
But he can’t stop right now, he had to keep going, she needed to hear this, two damn long years after the fact, she must. Taking one more deep breath, Dick continues, “Here’s the thing.... I....I don’t how I’m even able to do it! I just do it because it’s the right thing to do. But...but...I hate how my school can be. I hate how even if I do fit in the best I can and make sure my grades are top notch, I... I can’t help but feel like I still don’t fit given where I’m from and who I am. I hate how this entire city just, one day after another, no matter how much we try to help, they’re always.... ALWAYS...an ambulance that must get because we failed, and someone got hurt or even worse. I hate that we can’t see Pop Haly every day like we used to, Harry, Regina, Calvin, Raymond, Zitka...all of them, we had to leave them once we lost Dad. I hate, hate, hate, hate Zucco for what he done, for ruining you and me...I just...I HATE IT HERE!! I....just want...I want to go back to how it was before all this...If I’m gonna be someone who can help you take care of the house, can’t it be our real house...the trailer? I just want to go home...our real home” With that, at the end of what he had built up and hurting in his heart and soul for the longest time finally coming out, Dick once more tries his darn best to break through his tears, glaring hurt and heartbroken eyes towards Snow Owl’s own masked ones. Masked eyes, that were also beginning to develop tears of their own....and Dick saw this once he was able to focus on the sight in front of him.
Now he’s all too happy to stand up for what he thinks or believes in if need be; after all he’s done with that man dressed like a flying rodent during those times his mother and him work in Gotham. But this was Snow Owl, the one he was meant to help, both here at this quaint apartment with all he can do as the man of the house and in the streets of Bludhaven almost every night as the Boy Wonder, the one he made an oath by a candlelight to aid in protecting the innocent and stick to the path of righteousness when donning the red, green and yellow those two years ago, the one who makes him his breakfasts, lunches for school and even sometimes dinner when he’s not doing it, the one who was the very first face his eyes ever saw less than five minutes upon entering the world on his personal very first Day of Spring. Snow Owl is his mother and he just made her cry, breaking her heart. He broke her soul and reduced her to tears, tears she tries now to control herself and taking her own deep breaths.
“I...I’m sorry”, He immediately stands up, wiping away his own tears from his eyes and slowly walks his way out of the living room. Snow Owl is too lost within her thoughts to pick up on her son’s bare feet stepping on the carpet floor. Once she’s able to briefly come out of her thoughts to realize this, it was already too late. She only takes one step forwards before she then hears the door to Dick’s bedroom close. He was guilt ridden and self-hating; she hates it when this happens because it’s one of those case where she can’t be there for him no matter how much she really wants to be there for him, but knowing him, he’ll just gently tell her to leave him be, no matter how many knocks to his door she wants to do. Besides, if his guilt induced self-isolation wasn’t bad enough for her, Snow Owl has a whole cavalcade of other feelings and thoughts running through her head; Shame, her own guilt, helplessness, regret, and just overall, grief. As far as she knows, it’s justified she has these thoughts permeating her mind and soul; it’s a punishment for her.
What kind of Mother is she supposed to be? What kind of Mother allows her child to bottle in so much of this soul darkening negativity and sorrow in their hearts? What kind of Mother forces her only child to grow up far faster than he can handle? What kind of Mother spends more time grieving the loss of her beloved husband than trying to help her child recover from such a loss himself? What kind of Mother does all that and it only takes her child finally and seemingly buckling under all that pressure, all because she didn’t do anything prior to stop it and step up as that mother she should be?
Snow Owl, as she slumps into her seat on the couch, cannot help but come to that conclusion. She’s been a bad Mother and as of now, she’s lost in a sea of fog in her mind telling her very much that. Within that fog clouding her mind, some other words, some sounding awfully like herself or some even sounding like her own mother, start coming in from and reach her ears internally. The words themselves are not a pleasant type for her to hear.
Inside her, she felt a sense of failure; yet she also claims that no, a true failure would be if he outright stated he hated her straight to her face. Though he did hate where they were.
This place they live in indeed provides only bitterness over what they lost; though what other choice did Snow Owl and her son have frankly? Their old home was about to go bankrupt via all those lawsuits had they stayed there. It was either them or their home, there was no other way out and nowhere else to go.
Inside her, she now knows she shouldn’t have let her son join in her crusade to fight crime since he has already so much to do at a mere 12 years old; however even if Snow Owl wants to agree with that one, it wouldn’t have stopped her little boy from joining anyways. He was just as determined if not even more so to find the culprits responsible for what happened to John in that fateful performance. There was no stopping him and she knew it. What better way to help alleviate that burning passion of justice for their family than letting him in as her partner.
Despite her best efforts pointing out what was the reality of their lives up to this present day and how much could’ve been done given what they were faced with. But those harsh words kept going and going in her mind, her guilt and self-hatred, as far as she’s concerned well justified, pounding her consciousness like artillery shells exploding across the trenches of the Western Front a century ago. Every time she seemingly gets a rebuttal to those questions and her doubts, a new one would pop up in the middle of it. They just kept coming, each one pounding in her head with intensity, figuratively more artillery shells kept coming by the second.
It was that intense and no matter how hard she tries, they just keep going to the point she can barely even move out of her seat on the couch, her t-shirt and sweatpants still right to her side, awaiting the moment she can change into them after her shower. Finally after shutting her eyes, reigning herself in, Snow Owl notices her breath was getting heavier and with one gulp of her, she snaps her eyes open. Those voices and doubts had almost instantly stopped. But that doesn’t mean she didn’t feel like it was done. Far from it, she’s been dealing with them for years by now, and given what happened right now with her son…those are more that’ll come in the near future.
Realizing her clothes to her side and thinking to herself that maybe a shower can help clear her mind out of....
Suddenly, in her utility belt, Snow Owl’s communicator device starts buzzing, and upon looking at who’s calling, she can see it’s the BPD Chief. She knows this must be serious given how rarely he ever calls her unless there’s either a super criminal on the loose or probably some sort of morbid case not even the forensics department can stomach. She dreads if it’s that type since Dick might be the Boy Wonder but his pained look of discomfort upon seeing a cadaver that either hits too close to home or just unpleasant enough for him to start losing his lunch, that’s a look on his face Snow Owl strives into making sure he doesn’t have to feel if she can help it. Hence, usually in these cases would come Robin being noticeably absent from meeting with their allies.
Snow Owl in short order puts back on her domino mask and presses the answer button. About two seconds later, the face of the Chief of the BPD appears on her screen. “As much as you might or might not like me and how much I certainly don’t like you, it looks like there’s a little something I think you can handle over here. Even my crew certainly can’t stomach doing this one, maybe except our local Medical Examiner, I know for certain she likes you, but I don’t know why the hell she does, but even she might need you around for it.”
Snow Owl went through a torrent of emotions as the Chief spoke to her; amusement in hearing the jealousy in his voice over how much Robin and her were able to do compared to his crew, shrugging her shoulders in acknowledgement of her friendship with said Medical Examiner Trini, but at the end of it a cringed look on her face despite her best efforts to hide it since it was exactly what she was expected but not she didn’t want it, since he mentioned Trini at all can only mean one thing.
“Body turned up, Chief Bruno?” Snow Owl asks with the tiniest silver of nervousness in her voice despite her vocal range accommodating the stoic persona her mask dictates she shows. The fact right after Chief Bruno then sighs and shakes his head while pinching his nose only helps confirm it. However, it didn’t truly prepare Snow Owl for the Chief's next reply as he once more opened his eyes to see Bludhaven’s local vigilante’s masked eyes right back at him. “It’s male, found underneath Little Drawbridge by some kids, probably street punks, looks like it’s recent. We don’t have all the details of it yet, hence why we’ll need your stinking bird butt over here, but best we can tell, victim’s been dead for at least since yesterday and given by the marks we saw on him, no doubt first degree murder, combination of bullets and a knife......he’s a kid.... about 12 at most. Real nasty.”
Snow Owl couldn’t help but gasp. No wonder Bruno’s guys or even Trini need help with this one. Poor kid is probably about Dick’s own age and for someone to do such a horrible thing to him and seemingly dump him to hide their crime so carelessly and cruelly, that’s something she won’t stand. She makes a vow to prevent this from happening and strikes back against the criminal element if it does. One thing is for sure though as she takes a deep breath to process this news; Dick can’t come over tonight, not just because of the nature of this case but given his little moment he had not too long ago, he needs time to himself.
After taking one more deep breath, Snow Owl looks to the Chief on her communicator, “I’ll be there shortly. Tell Trini to meet me in the Examiner’s office and get that victim ready. I’ll bring over my tools for the autopsy if need be.” With a nod, the Chief disconnects, ending the call and allowing Snow Owl to head back to her bedroom and quickly find her boots. As slips them back on and prepares to open the window, she makes a vow within her mind; it was a vow for Dick.
“I know tonight was a little rough, but I want to let you know I’m not mad at you for saying you needed to after so long. There’s nothing wrong with feeling like the pressure is a bit much, especially with all that you have done for so long, too long already for me and this home we live in. I am so dearly sorry you had to bottle it all in when I should’ve said something to help with it. If you don’t accept my apologies and hold it against me, I’ll be fine with it. At least though, you must know that I will try to be better starting today. You made a vow to protect the innocent and be my partner as best as you can. Well, here’s my vow for you; I promise that I will try to be more open with myself for you if you ask. I’ll step up when I need to with the things that need to be done around here. I’ll be as much of your partner as you are mine. After all, family at the end of the day are just that. They’re partners to each other. Sure, I’m leaving you to take your time off for the night during this case, but I promise you, you can be involved in it in due course. I vow from here on out.... I’ll try, Dick. I’ll Try.’
With those words in her mind, Snow Owl, her secret identity being Mary Grayson, locks the windows after stepping out of them, double checks her utility belt for every tool she needs, takes out her escrima stick to fire off a grappling wire and makes her way to the BPD Precinct.
It’ll be Saturday tomorrow anyways so if this thing goes all-night, at least she can still sleep in. Still, a real shame that there’s no movie night but what can she do about it.

You may have mentioned this before. If so, pardon! But I'm curious to know your most recommended shows? Both amongst the current lineup but also your all time faves! - Noah
Noah, my friend, I am SO HAPPY you asked. I have no self control whatsoever so I will be answering this with a thoroughness nobody wants or needs. (also I will answer this question over and over for many reasons: 2 being that A- my tastes/favorites change on a damn-near hourly basis and C- I love dramas so much that I'll always be willing to talk about them!)
Side note: If you take a look at my Whump List Library, you'll see that links are highlighted in purple if it's a favorite (or one I simply really liked) It's safe to assume I recommend all of them but I'll go ahead and list my best of the best!
PLEASE NOTE: If you don't use any of the streaming services these dramas are on, I suggest DramaCool and KissAsian. There are other free services you can use but these two tend to work best for people.
UNDER THE CUT
Tumblr media
Vigilante (MDL) - This is by far my favorite drama right now. Like- above all of the other ones that have ever existed. (That's saying something believe me) I'm not exaggerating when I say I watch it every single day. Every single day. I'm mak,ing a whump list for this one and I may have fanfics in progress.
Synopsis: After Kim Ji Yong (pictured above on both sides) witnesses his mother's brutal murder and her attacker's light prison sentence, he begins living two entirely different lives as an adult. On weekdays, he's a model student at the police university (left). During the weekends, he punishes criminals who'd received light sentences and continue to commit criminal acts with the name Vigilante (right). (MDL)
Tumblr media
Fuujinshi (MDL) (Whump List) - If I had to choose a favorite Japanese drama, Fuujinshi would be my pick. Like, it's not even close. By a long shot. This drama was recommended to me to make a whump list for and I remain eternally grateful. This is one I rewatch a lot.
Synopsis: Osagami Kakeru is a blade master who is tasked with the mission of sealing the ''blades of filth'' called Kegareyaiba. These blades are born from the dark sides of people's hearts and make those corrupted by that filth murderers. However, with every blade sealed, the filth also affects Kakeru... (MDL)
Tumblr media
Healer (MDL) (Whump List) - This is another one of my favorites! It was actually my favorite Korean drama before Vigilante came around. They're definitely similar but I will say that Healer is not nearly as dark as Vigilante. They do, however share some cast members!
Synopsis: Seo Jung Hoo is a special kind of night courier, known only as "Healer" by his clients. For the right price and with the help of a genius hacker, he gets his clients whatever they want, as long as it doesn't involve murder. His latest job leads him to a second-rate tabloid writer, Chae Young Shin, and the successful reporter, Kim Moon Ho. He begins to uncover the mystery of his own shared past with the two reporters, thus putting them all in danger. Can this errand-boy-turned-vigilante save everyone? (MDL)
Tumblr media
Duel (MDL) (Whump List) - Another big favorite of mine! This drama has almost every trope you can think of, it's wild. This one has been one I've suggested to people since day one. If Duel has no more fans it's because I'm dead.
Synopsis: Jang Deuk Cheon, a hardened detective cop whose daughter is kidnapped, begins a chase against great odds to solve the mystery of his situation and find his child before it is too late. He starts to hunt down the suspect using the one clue he has: Two men with the same face were at the crime scene.
Tumblr media
The Untamed (MDL) (Whump List) - If you know me at all, you know how much I absolutely ADORE this drama. It's my favorite Chinese drama ever and yes, it's another drama I watch over again a lot.
Synopsis: Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji, two talented disciples of respected clans, meet during cultivation training and accidentally discover a secret carefully hidden for many years. Taking on the legacy of their ancestors, they decide to rid the world of the ominous threat. But in a dramatic turn of events, Wei Wu Xian dies. Sixteen years later, Wei Wu Xian is brought back to life through a self-sacrificing ritual. He conceals himself behind a mask and assumes the identity of his summoner. Soon, Wei Wu Xian reunites with Lan Wang Ji and they start working together to solve the mysteries of the present and unravel the truth behind the events in the past. (MDL)
-----------------
Honorable Mentions:
Flower of Evil - (MDL) (Whump List)
He is Psychometric - (MDL) (Whump List)
Sweet Home - (MDL) (Whump List)
The K2 - (MDL) (Whump List)
Semantic Error - (MDL) (Whump List)
(I'm gonna stop here cus I could keep going.)

Saltiest witchcraft opinion you have, go!
Oof bro. How much time do we have?
Saltiest? Man. Thats hard.
Right now?
I do not respect anyone - *anyone* that writes about witchcraft in a clearly affected tone, at all. I see it everywhere, its getting more prevelant by the day, and the youngens fall for it, and shell out BIG time, turning themselves inside out over these... liars. Copying them, modeling themselves after them, fretting because they feel that seperation as being not a seperation between reality and sheer fictionalized persona, but a seperation between them and any chance of ever being equal to...liars! And yeah theyre liars, cuz thats a pretense they affect, they dont go to the gas station and say shit like "The Wise would moste appreciate ten gallons of Gasoline, a moste potente solvent of airy virtue, known for feeding the spirit of combustion within the iron heart of mine moste reliable automobile."
I don't respect it, i see all hat, no cattle, roleplaying an image, not any evidence of anything with substance, lots of research, sure - but anyone can research, anyone can share their findings, anyone can talk like shakespeares least effective fluffer, its false. Its a lie, its marketing, its like "positive spin" but make it an even redder flag, and i dont see how a culture of people that are supposed to exercise discernment get taken for such a ride. It just smells like self insert fanfic based on a false ideal and then they sell it for money and like? id be naked before i wore that. Its offensive, its stereotyping, its crooked, its dishonest and dishonorable, and it does a disservice to the people these writers say they *serve*, it speaks to me of persons that have to have a pedestal to stand on because god forbid anyone be their equal.
*ducks to avoid flying tomatoses*

Twilight Clown Takes—Part 7
Featuring Twilight being both queer and homophobic, more deranged Rosalie fan dumb, and a random simping for Sarah J. Maas. On nom nom away
Twilight Is Homophobic AND Queer!!1!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or…and I’m just throwing it out there…Twilight is a romance and the romance genre are notoriously heterosexual???? To the point where one of its nastier tropes is the predatory gay villain (looking at you, Outlander)????
Hell, even now the number of homosexual characters in romances are low, mostly just limited to supporting characters. I suppose it’s improved in recent years, but even in fantasy romance you get, like, Mor from ACOTAR.
Tumblr media
At least Clown OP has the self-awareness to know they are indeed writing fanfic.
But regarding the “Edward/Bella would never last and they would get divorced!!” clownery…what canonical basis is there even???? They could barely last six months apart without having a complete nervous breakdown. Yes, they are blinded by their own insecurities and delusions, but they eventually communicate and resolve their issues fairly easily. Their love proves greater and helps them overcome these.
Tumblr media
You would think Kristen Stewart would have an easier time playing Bella if she were so obviously bi-coded. Instead we got the most awkward and ill-fitting performance of a major character in years, to the point where her version of the character is among the most hated film characters—ever. Part of it is definitely the stupid script and questionable direction, but there is also a matter of casting type. Bella is a modernized romance heroine while Stewart is a grounded indie actress who at BEST can play a major fantasy heroine—a more emotionally intelligent version of Katniss. Perhaps an animated TV show will be beneficial in that respect, in actually casting for the character.
Rosalie Fan Dumb
Tumblr media
Bella: *wants to be a vampire*
Rosalie: How dare you, an autonomous individual different from me, make a completely different choice than what I would make!!!1!! 😡
Clown OP: Complexity 😍
Seriously, we have got to have a long talk about this fandom’s idealization of Rosalie resenting Bella her own autonomy and pissing on her own choices. Edward literally has the exact same position as Rosalie (except that homeboy doesn’t hate Bella for it and understands why) but he is criticized so much more harshly. What the hell is going on?
Also, Bella was gung-ho on becoming a vampire anyway, so this pregnancy did not change her plans in the slightest. Hell, it was her plan to get changed right after birthing Renesmee, so it was all on her terms. Let’s not pretend she was at any point coerced into vampirism! For all this whinging about Bella’s agency, it’s the anti fandom itself that refuses to acknowledge it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Except that in Midnight Sun we do see Rosalie’s hostility from Edward’s POV and boy, is it super petty and irrational—she cannot even stand to be in the same room as Bella! It’s completely juvenile, which is well, par de course for vampires frozen in their adolescent state.
But again we have the victim blaming. Bella’s existence doesn’t endanger the Cullens; it’s the Cullens’ existence that endangers Bella, as Edward correctly notes and angsts about. The only way Bella endangers the Cullens is that she knows their secret—but of course, she would never tell, so it’s moot point. It’s not even on the table after the car accident scene.
Tumblr media
Sarah J. Maas? You mean the author with prose like unseasoned rice? You mean the author with 80% of the most boring ass worldbuilding and 20% actual erotic sex scenes, her actual strength? You mean the author who literally turned her first love interest evil and stripped him of all his personality in the sequel just so that her female MC could end up with the fan favorite antagonist (who drugged her and made her dance suggestively in front of people)? That Sarah J. Maas? A better writer than Meyer? Really????

How would you describe the relationship between kudos/comments and fanfic quality on Ao3? In my experience so far, there is hardly any correlation! I imagine this must be very frustrating as an excellent writer.
There is no relationship. Fanfiction is the same as traditional publishing in that respect: books take off if they've scratched a particular itch for the current market, regardless of quality. Fandom isn't any different. Something might be both well-written and popular, but whether or not it's well-written is coincidental; it isn't popular because it's well-written, but because it's supplied the right thing at the right time for a particular community's readership. There's also an element of pure dumb luck: I've seen fics that I expected to take off that really didn't despite the fact that they featured popular tropes and ships executed in a way that I anticipated would resonate with fandom, and didn't (at least on a large scale level) for no discernible reason, while similar fics blew up.
On a personal note, I've had those screaming into the void moments, and they are disheartening, because making fanworks, be they fic, art, or gifs, is an attempt to participate in a community, and no or very little response feels like a rejection from people with whom you have tried to share something you mutually love.
That being said, I don't expect a certain number of kudos or comments, and I don't compare myself to more popular writers, firstly because it's usually not a fair comparison, i.e. we're writing in completely different styles, on completely different topics; it would be like comparing novels from two totally different genres and lamenting that one didn't sell as many copies as the other. And secondly because, frankly, I almost never like what's popular in any given fandom I've ever participated in, and so I write what I want to read, because there's often nothing, or very little, that scratches my particular itch. So I am limiting my potential audience right from the very beginning, which means I have to go into it with appropriate expectations. And honestly, I have done a lot better than I would expect in terms of feedback, because I would consider myself pretty middle-of-the-road in terms of popularity, and I'm surprised I'm not that super obscure writer one whole person has heard about.
At the end of the day, no one should be basing their self-worth or their perception of their abilities on the amount of comments or kudos they have. Low kudos/comments are not a condemnation of your skills, and are a reflection of nothing other than whether or not you're writing about topics that are popular within one niche subset of complete strangers.

So based on the point in time in CC. Would any of the class have fanfics about them? Not like what you did with Kiri and Izuku, but full on them as the main characters of the fic.
Shoto and Iida are probably the only ones directly in the Hero fics, but that's less because of them and more because they appeared in fanfics written about their family members. They're not really 'characters' in these fics as it's their respective Hero family members who are getting the main focus and they're just added for flavor text and scenes of "My self-insert meets X Hero and they either fall in love or get adopted and are eventually introduced to their family". They're written very ooc in these fics because while they're known to exist and there's a few photos/videos/Hero family member mentioning them in an interview floating around, it's not enough to get their personality down so they're more whatever tropes needed for the writer.
Same with Momo, but less common because she's just from a rich family rather than a Hero family like the other two, but there's an occasional mention of the wealthy family as an excuse to have the characters go to a charity gala and she occasionally appears in those. We also get non-Hero fics that are like. Either 'sold to One Direction' type of thing or basically the family being the Batman to the self-insert OCs Robin and just yoink that's my child now. But again, Momo's personality is entirely made up because the public doesn't know much about her and she's just whatever tropes the writer wants to throw in for the story.
Jiro miiiiight be in this a little bit as well depending on how famous I decide to make her family. We know they're musicians and seem to make a living on that, but they don't seem to be full on famous rockstars. So even if she appears in the same way as the other three, it's on a smaller scale.
Also Denki 100% has fanfics but as his Minecraft Streamer persona rather than the family or anything. So he's the only one who shows up at UA with fanfics written about him that are actually focused on him and also in-character.
Thanks to the Sports Festival, the class is starting to edge into the spotlight. They're still pretty niche in terms of fans, and the characterization is all over the place because so little of them is known. But the 1v1 battles absolutely inspired a lot of rivalmance fanfic. But no one's really stuck out more than usual.

I once read a fic where sakura was written exactly in character and when she discovered n and s relationship she immediately got angry at naruto ( like I think she would in canon), but then some people started to flame the author about why are they writing sakura like that, like they're being too harsh on her.
So yeah, I think in some cases authors write H and S more likable so they don't upset anyone and get bullied.
Hmm it's plausible. However, writers usually write what rings true to them, what seems believable to them, otherwise it reads insincere and it shows in their writing. I can't say much in relation to fanfic writers given most of them aren't professional writers, they mostly just write for fun or self comfort.
What I do know for sure is that if one is sincerely writing a canonverse divorce SNS fic in Boruto era, one has to pay attention to the granular nuances that Kishi himself so shrewdly wrote and drew himself in Gaiden and Boruto the movie. He insistently puts repeated emphasis on how Sasuke mindfully keeps physical and emotional distance from Sakura. Their relationship looks dysfunctional, stilted and forced. While Sakura still tries to establish/force intimacy with Sasuke like usual, he still consistently keeps her at a distance, even now when they are married and have a child together, to the point he doesn't even know what his own daughter looks like. Sarada suspects her own mother is hiding something from her about her own father. Kishi succeeded to do one thing that he definitely wanted to achieve with Gaiden. To create doubt, suspicion. To make SS look shady and phoney. Because it just wouldn't have been in character for Sasuke to be happy or content in this sham of a marriage. Because he is a gay man stuck in a het marriage with a woman he doesn't like or respect. He is unhappy and displeased to see her, doesn't even crack a smile, hasn't seen her in years btw. They talk to each other in such a cosmetic manner, calling each other my husband and my wife. Never kissed, to Sakura's great dismay. Does this look like a dynamic that would facilitate Sasuke canoodling casually with Sakura?
Kishimoto insistently shows Naruto idle away his time at his office, counting headbands, even when there's nothing significant keeping him there. Like he purposely doesn't wanna go back home. He sends his clones to attend important ocassions with his family. But for Sasuke, he is always, always there in person. He sleeps anywhere but in his own master bedroom he shares with Hinata. His wife knows nothing worthwhile about him that she can tell to comfort her son about his own father. Instead, Kishi makes Sasuke satisfy Boruto's curiosity that Hinata wasn't able to. Naruto thinks of Sasuke when receiving the love bento and not Hinata who made it for him. His own son reminds him of Sasuke and not his spouse who birthed him.
Both these families are pointedly portrayed as highly dysfunctional. The husbands aren't there more than 90 percent of the time, the women know nothing of worth about their husbands. Sakura doesn't even know if Sasuke wears glasses. They have been married for over 12 years, happy families who have been together for such a long time don't behave like this. Naruto and Sasuke look perennially tired, wretched, and downright miserable.
If two gay men were forced by circumstances to keep appearances, by being married to entitled and self absorbed women they have no love for, wouldn't this be exactly how they would behave? These women who were only motivated by what the boys represent and not by who they really are. Hinata and Sakura don't know their own husbands. And it's in character for both of them. A spouse who wants to possess their object of desire without any concern for anyone but their own selves, wouldn't they behave exactly like Sakura and Hinata? They would.
And thing is, when the boys are with each other, they clearly look like their older selves. Spirited, lit up. Happy. Never with their families.
When writing a divorce SNS fic, one has to at least try to write a believable narrative. And no one has to even look anywhere else, just look to Kishi, he has already given us a lot of material to judge and interpret the characters the way it would be, realistic, believable. Kishi's writing rings true.
Naruto and Sasuke are akin to two outsiders living in a world that doesn't or wouldn't acknowledge their truth. A world where they can't be their true selves. An unfair and prejudiced world. A reflection of the real world as understood by Kishi. Naruto and Sasuke are driven to live in the shadows, having secret meetings. So if one decides to write a fic where they are made to officially unite, they will need to acknowledge the reality of world that had been stopping them until now. Hinata and Sakura are not only part of this world, but are also complicit in Naruto and Sasuke's suffering. So if one wants to portray a narrative that culminates into Naruto and Sasuke taking a stand against the world that had been the reason they were apart till now, then one will need to portray this world in character, including Hinata and Sakura. Otherwise, the narrative will not only not ring true, it will be disrespectful and unjust to Naruto and Sasuke's characters.
And then and only then, will their union look justifiably and accurately portrayed. If Kishi's worldbuilding depicts Konoha to be unsupportive of same sex relationships, and Naruto and Sasuke are a part of this world, then one will have to develop the narrative accordingly to justify their official union. If you write this world, which includes Hinata and Sakura, out of character, then you aren't really doing justice to SNS canon narrative, nor to Sasuke and Naruto's own characters.
Before anyone leaves some whiny, non-sense comment or remark about subjective interpretation on this post, please know that I don't have the energy nor the patience to deal with such comments kindly. Please really think about what I am saying. Deconstruct canon narrative, peel the layers, see what lies underneath. The issue I am talking about is bigger than some sorry ass fic. If you don't depict the challenges and conflicts of the characters in a well rounded way, you will never be able to write a believable or just narrative. Characters are not written in abstraction, they don't come out of oblivion. They are shaped by their surroundings, people around them, their world's weltenschaung, their accepted way of life, a certain philosophy, a belief system. Without taking that into account and building the narrative accordingly, one simply can't write a story or characters that ring true. And Kishi KNOWS this, given he is a master writer. Look to him, be guided by him, if one can't figure it out by themselves. Do your due diligence. Put some effort and understanding in it. Watch other gay media for research, see how these dysfunctional relationships are portrayed. Try and stay true to gay narratives, establish the gay characters' conflict, their struggles, their compromises, their woes, their bitterness with respect to the world they live in. If you wanna write a fic that does justice to SNS and Sasuke and Naruto's characters ie.

By any chance, would you have any tips for being an adult fanfic writer for a tween/youth targeted series?
I have just started to publish my own fanfic after many years as a fanfic reader (and Changeling/Armistice are personal faves) … but I’m feeling like I’m really “other” as an adult writer within the fandom demographic.
I’m literally writing because my kids got me into a series they love… but now I’m a generation removed from the audience. It’s… strange, and I don’t know if there’s some secret to navigating it!
I suppose I have two main directions that my thoughts go to:
Audience. I think the very idea of young adult and youth designations on media (books, tv shows, whatever) is pretty strange. On the one hand, these designations might often be about reading level or signalling that certain inappropriate adult content is not present (for some measure of adult and some measure of inappropriate). But that's more about why someone who is younger might not or maybe should not engage with adult content. That isn't about adults not engaging with youth content. I guess I'm trying to say that the demographics of an audience is simply who engages with it, not who it is aimed at? You are part of the audience. You're not removed from it. It's a piece of media you engaged with and meant something to you in some way. That's real!
If you are interested in writing about teens or other youth experiences as an adult, the only thing that immediately comes up to me is that you should write from your own experiences. And I don't mean this as a trite "write what you know". When I wrote The Changeling, it wasn't about Harry Potter or the youth demographic who might be reading it, it was about my own experiences being a young girl, the questions I had, and maybe some of the things I wish I had had, some of the conversations that would have meant something to me. It was never about preaching to anyone or trying to speak to someone else's experiences, it was a dialogue with my own younger self. We've all been there, right?
I mean, let's be real a minute. Who exactly do we think the authors/writers of the original content were? Were they kids? Likely not. You're engaging in media written by adults for a younger audience.
I ultimately refuse to believe there is anything inherently cringe about any of this. Which is not to say that I never paused and thought about it or wondered. I just believe that if you enter authentically, are willing to self-reflect, the writing itself isn't really an issue.
Now, the bigger issue might be if you are interacting with other fans, in that way I would be very careful and never make any assumptions about the people you might be interacting with. Don't assume you are speaking to other adults. I'm not saying I never interact with younger fans in any spaces, but I set very clear boundaries and do my best to conduct myself in a way that is respectful not only of others, but of myself. Be authentic and lead with compassion. Those are never bad things to center around.

But Zoya would obviously revolt after her family was killed. I get why he did it but i also get why she revolted.
Now I feel like I'm missing a part of the conversation.
But without context, like this- it wouldn't really matter. She's just one (1) soldier, perhaps promissing, perhaps strong above the average, but still just one person. And from what we've seen in later books, she doesn't really have any authority or organizational skills. She's good in throwing tantrums, or intimidation by force, but unlike plenty of FanFic writers, I can't see her as a natural leader. She lacks self-discipline and from what we've seen she provokes either blind adoration (thanks to her strength and looks) or fear she can achieve by bullying people into submission. Neither equals respect, and neither is likely to earn it.
If we read Siege and Storm, nothing was happening untli Alina arrived with the King's blessing to lead the Second Army. Zoya was just another teenager too busy arguing about which Order matters the most. Vain, loud and arrogant, refusing to obey the only person trying to keep the Little Palace running, because he's Corporalnik, yet not offering an alternative until Alina swoops in to save them the effort.
Zoya wouldn't be the only person, who lost someone in Novokribirsk, but honestly- she's not likely to be the only soldier, who lost someone in military action in general. Ravkan war machinery didn't strike me as a system that deeply cares about possible civilian losses. Sure, the scale is unseen before, but I don't think Zoya's change of loyalties would matter without Alina's desertion.
Zoya's just "lucky" her anger has a rather clear target. She knows the Darkling, his involvement is no secret, there was nobody to stop her go looking for her aunt. There's no reason to re-examine the events (like the tiny little fact her aunt lived, until she decided to enter the Fold...). Who would be Zoya angry with, should Liliyana die after running to help people on a battlefield? Or jump into the abyss, should the Darkling use megaCut, like in the show?
I might understand Zoya's anger about losing her family, but I can't get over how much do the details make it look like pure idiocy and her aunt's own fault in a way... to quote The Magicians:
- "What you're doing is very heroic. Now, I mean that. But what's the difference between a live hero and a dead moron?" · "Food tasters?" - "No." · "One dumb decision. So when it's be brave or be smart… You know which one, okay?"

Do you wish your oc's would become canon?
Puuuuhhhh that's actually a though question... so yeah long post under the cut
There was a time where I would have said "YES! BIG YES!!!" right away. Like how cool would this be to have your own character become canon? To see them in comics or screen? To see what other people think about your character, the fanart, fanfics, headcanons etc.
And that's exactly also the part which is why I don't want them to be canon. Because where there are also nice and wholesome fanstuff there is also the other side. And I'm not necessarily talking about character hate...
I'm also talking about things like shipping especially about problematic shipping.
I would hate it so much to see this specific part of the fandom ship my Maggie with her father or anyone else. I mean the ship with her father is self-explanatory! Pedos stay away!!! Beside that, in my head she's aroace. She's not interessted in such a relationship and tbh it would make me sad to see people just ignoring the fact. But I know the fandom. I know that they just don't care about that stuff. I know as long as the character isn't gay they don't care and do whatever they want. I saw so many aroace characters being turned gay by the fandom, which as an aroace annoys me so much. Like they're always screaming about representation while at the same time stealing our represantation away. I mean for Katya I wouldn't mind that much (as long as it's not with her dad or anyone she sees as her family). I'm already considering to maybe make her bi or pan and also have my shipping headcanons with her... but with Maggie it's just different. For her it's so much more complicated to find a ship where I would say yeah that's fine, that fits. I know being aroace doesn't mean to never be in a relationship but there are some other things which is why I don't see her in any realtionship. Or more like why it's so much harder for me to see her to be in one.
I also wouldn't like to see my characters in someone elses hands. I know that in Marvel each run is written by a different author and sorry... but I just don't trust everyone to write my character (Hank's the best example for what can happen...)
As much as I would love to see my characters becoming canon and interacting with canon characters etc. I just don't trust the fandom and other writers to respect my creation like I created them etc. Ofc there will always be the part of the fandom who would make beautiful and amazing additions and fanstuff and omg how cool would it be to see my characters becoming bigger and maybe even people starting to make rp and fan accounts for them etc. But the risk of seeing my characters getting destroyed by people who think they know them better then I do... no thank you...
So yeah that's my take on this while I really would love to see them becoming canon I'm not sure if I would really do it....
