hi all, idk how will this post reach the intended audience who can help me out on this but - i have been listening to Japanese folk singer Ichiko Aoba lately, and i am just so so fascinated by her sound. I possibly couldn’t explain this as deeply as I feel, but this past year there have been random discoveries as such, musically, academically and such, that I have found myself being more and more drawn to Japanese culture. In order to be able to read Japanese someday, and immerse in the culture better, I have also started Japanese language lessons.
for now, if you have any suggestions on things i can read (will have to be in English for now), listen to, or watch, to understand Japanese art and culture better, please please let me know!! i cannot explain this almost spiritual connect i feel, it feels like finding home. and i have never fully felt at home anywhere i have lived in.

the absolute beauty of singing “i just want to see you in the morning” over and over again in Autumn Town Leaves is just. a lot is happening here, but all that matters to me is that i see you in the morning. the lack of demands, the absence of big expectations, just a simple wish to wake up next to one’s lover in the morning. i am not asking for anything else, i just want to see you in the morning.
