let me get my husband for you! - diluc
Pairing: Husband!Diluc x Wife!Reader
Genre: Fluff! Female reader.
Word Count: 1.4k
Notes: You decided to visit Diluc at the tavern as he worked – somewhat a rare occasion – and a new Mondstadt resident has to learn the hard way that you’re not available. Warnings: guys are weird lmao and they say out of pocket things sometimes (also the ending sucks lmao)
It was a typical night at Angel’s Share tavern. It was definitely busy, as expected from a weekend with many of the knights and guild members coming in and out after a long day of work, as the same with regular citizens as well. It wasn’t even close to closing, so everyone was loud and in good spirits and drinks were handed out by, what seemed like, the dozen. You were one of those patrons, though you didn’t exactly spend all day fighting off hilichurls or taking care of problems that were more of a topic for the knights. Much like your husband, you yourself was somewhat of a business owner as you had taken on your parent’s family business that had, of course, been handed down to them many years ago. Today was busy for you, as you had to get up early and deal with meetings and other tasks all day long. With that being said, you also needed a breather from the stress of the day! Not only that, but you hadn’t seen Diluc at all today except for when you two departed in the morning, so you just couldn’t wait until late tonight to see your handsome husband. While you weren’t usually one for loud drunks or even alcohol itself, you did make rare appearances in the tavern just to surprise your husband and say a few hellos to people you knew that frequented the establishment. And even if you didn’t know many of the customers personally, they all knew you as the tavern owner’s wife – or better yet, just that you were married to the Diluc Ragnvinder – so a spot at the bar would be cleared just for you, no questions asked. So when you walked in tonight, your nice clothes still on from your earlier meetings, a barstool that had once been occupied by a member of the Adventurer’s Guild opened up with your name written all over it.
You’d always start off with a glass of wine and it would always been the finest (and on the house) because Diluc would always been delighted to see you. (The shine in his eyes and warm smile would always make an appearance as soon as he noticed you.) Even if he couldn’t always talk to you since he was busy, having your presence was enough. You’d normally chat with someone else, like Rosaria who was seated next to you tonight, so you weren’t alone or just awkwardly sitting and waiting for your husband to find the time to say something to you. And in hindsight, you guess that was why newcomers didn’t always catch on that you and the winery owner were married. The drink he’d slide over to you could just be because you were a frequent customer, right? At least, that’s what the guy that sat on the other side of you thought, because once he saw an opportunity pop up, he struck up a conversation with you.
“I don’t normally see a pretty lady like you in here alone,” he greeted, drawing your attention away from your friend on your other side.
To be fair, you knew it was best to not play along with these people. However, when your husband was just across the bar, lost in his own world of serving and cleaning, you couldn’t help it. After all, it was a little amusing to see the looks on people’s faces when they realized that not only were you already taken, but you were taken by the uncrowned king of Mondstadt. “Well, I decided it was time to finally make an appearance here,” you joked, your voice a little louder than normal so the man could hear you over the other rowdy patrons. You would never explicitly flirt with them or lead them on, but instead answer their questions and engage in what little chit-chat you could before having to play a damsel in distress and have your husband make them aware that you weren’t available. (As if the wedding ring on your finger didn’t already say that, but who was paying attention to it, anyways?)
“Let me guess,” the guy started, very obviously checking you out before smirking. You could tell he was already teetering on the edge of being completely drunk. “Your husband’s out of town? Because any guy with you would be smart enough to keep you at home, ya know?”
You looked off in feign thought, humming. “I’m not sure I do know, actually. Enlighten me.”
He smirked. “Well, obviously. You’re beautiful so every guy is going to want you. Or, are you trying to get away from him? That’s it, isn’t it?” He took a sip from his glass before gesturing toward yours. “Let me buy you drink.”
“Oh, no thank you, I haven’t even finished this one,” you said, showing how your cup had over half still. Besides, even if it was close to being empty, you could only manage about one full glass before becoming a bit too tipsy yourself.
“Listen,” he stated, turning more toward you. “I’d be more than willing to let you out of whatever situation your old man at home has got you tied up in, whether it be for tonight-” he hiccupped, “- or for however long you want it to be. In fact, if you want me to tell him how it isn’t fair that he’s not letting you get out and let yourself go as a pretty lady like you should, I will!”
“You will?” you asked, placing a hand to your chest, giving him a kind smile. “That’s so kind of you. Actually, my husband is here tonight.”
The guy blinked before quickly looking around. “Really?” he asked, his eyes returning to yours. “Well, point him out to me and I’ll give him a piece of my mind and then you and me can have a great night together.”
You smiled bigger, your eyes twinkling. You could feel Rosaria giving you confused looks as you faked searching for this mystery husband of yours before exclaiming a silent “oh!” and leaning toward the bar. “Hey, honey! This guy wants to talk to you!”
And this is exactly why you liked being a little meanie and playing with flirts like this. Because as soon as Diluc turned around from his task at hand, a look of question on his face as he made his way over to you to see what was going on, all life seemed to drain from the man that once really wanted to take you out two seconds ago. “What can I do for you?” your husband, who actually treated you very well, asked innocently, unaware of the interaction you had just been having.
“Uh, I just uh, wanted to you tell you that your wine is fantastic. Best wine I’ve ever had, really,” the man lied, his face beginning to turn a shade of red similar to your husband’s hair. “Unfortunately, I think I might have had just a little too much tonight and I have to go home.” Before Diluc could say thanks and wish him a safe return home, the man abruptly slipped out of his seat and took off out the door. The pyro user turned to see you and Rosaria snickering like someone had told you two the best joke in the world. He suddenly caught on and sighed.
“Y/N, you have got stop scaring my customers like that,” he chided, moving to stand more in front of you. He placed his elbows on the countertop and held out his hands for you to take, which you did immediately. It was a little habit you two had whenever Diluc had enough time to talk to you while working. He’d rub his calloused fingers over the soft skin of your knuckles as you two would talk, dreamily gazing into your eyes as if he couldn’t get enough of you (because, really, he couldn’t).
“I’m not scaring them away. I’m sure he’ll be back,” you giggled. “He’ll just know better than to hit on me next time! If I left it up to you, then they would be scared away and there wouldn’t be a next time.”
Well, Diluc couldn’t argue with that logic. In fact, the customers he had gotten onto himself for flirting with you hadn’t been back since. There were only a couple of them, and those time had been when you had gotten a little drunk yourself and weren’t too aware of the intentions of others. Besides, he found it amusing how much enjoyment you got out of showing off your spouse. But, he wouldn’t outright admit to that, of course.

HAPPY EARLY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU AND JIMMY ❤️❤️❤️ would he have any plans for your anniversary? :3c (@raylex)
HI LEX!!! 💛💛💛💛 THANK YOUU IM SO EXCITED!!
oh definitely. jimmy's love language is act of service so of course he definitely plans something special for our anniversary. he doesn't usually go for fancy dinners because we dont really need it anyway (we show love by little things that matters) - but for this special occasion, he'd take me to the fanciest restaurant he could find. he saved up just for this - and for later surprises ;)
after dinner, we would drive around the town and stop by our favorite park just to take a look at the beautiful scenery of the twinkling lights of the city. he'd crack jokes, serenade songs with his awful singing skill, and surprise me with heartfelt gifts. anything to make me happy, he'd do it. he wants to make me smile. ( ◜‿◝ )♡
After all, it's a special day for us. and even though he doesn't need a special day to be affectionate like this (he's usually affectionate anyway) but he wants to celebrate just how far we've gotten. and we're so grateful to have each other. 🧡

Help-Liv-finish-her-Big-Bang WIP game! 💫
Hey peeps! Lex @thefreakandthehair made their own version of the WIP game specifically for their Big Bang fic and it looks fun and challenging. I totally voted, will be back to vote each week. Unfortunately, that, like the regular WIP games, doesn't work for me. We're all different types of writers and that's okay. I'm catering this one to me. You should feel free to the do the same!
My goal is to have the full 100% draft of my Dirty Dancing AU completed by August 31st and I need deadlines to make that happen (that inattentive ADHD yo). So, rather than asking people to pick a new WIP for me to work on or vote words into scenes (I can't write that shit out of order). I'm gonna do this:
Each Monday from now until then, I'm gonna post a motivation poll. For every vote encouraging me to get my goddamn shit together, I will write 100 words before the next Monday's poll.
With each new poll, I'll post a good size snippet that your votes helped motivate me to write during the previous week. Today I'm posting one (below the cut) that I wrote this weekend.
Snippet below the cut:
It’s just a few cabins down from Eddie’s which is how Steve had known where to go last night, they’d walked past it before seeing the commotion at Chrissy’s. They knock but Eddie uses a key to open it just a bit and ask if they can come in.
She looks tired. Wrung out but in the way that shows she’s just been through something not in the way that she’s still going through it. Her normally shiny eyes are dulled but her smile spreads when she sees Steve behind Eddie. Putting her hands out, she says softly, “Steve, come.” She beckons him closer before opening her arms so Steve can lean in for a hug. “Thank you, thank you so much Steve.”
He’s uncomfortable. Not with the hug, he likes Chrissy. She’s sweet and strong and so brave. Her arms are small but her hug is tight. No, it’s not her. It’s the praise for something he didn’t do. “I didn’t do anything but get someone who could actually help you.” He says softly when he pulls away to sit in the chair that he’s pretty sure Robin slept in.
Eddie swoops in for a hug, “Tell him Chris, he won’t hear it from me.” He kisses her forehead as he pulls away and then leans in to kiss Steve on the mouth, squeezing his thigh as he pulls away. It’s unexpected but not unwanted. Steve feels his cheeks go pink and Eddie grins, biting his lip before flouncing out with wild energy. “See you tonight, Stevie!”
Steve’s eyes follow him out and when he turns back to Chrissy, her eyes are twinkling and she’s got a full bright smile shining towards him. “Finally! Tell me everything!” Her nose wrinkles then and she amends, “well, not everything just like the non sexy parts.”
“It’s Eddie, Chrissy,” Steve looks at her seriously, “it’s all sexy parts.”

when they have to leave early
Includes: Childe, Diluc, Gorou, Xiao, Venti, Aether, and Tighnari.
Genre: Fluff! Established relationships. Gender neutral reader.
Word Count: 180-200+ for each.
Notes: Bullet imagine of some of the Genshin boys being mushy with you since they have to leave early in the morning. (unedited, sorry!)
Childe:
You were used to Childe having to leave earlier in the morning than you since he was a harbinger and he always had some sort of work to do before the rest of the world woke up.
Doesn’t mean he enjoyed leaving you so soon, though.
In fact, it was a sour start to his day when he had to and he’d always be irritable until he saw you again.
He’d probably lay awake for a while, placing slow, soft kisses on any part of your body he could reach before ultimately slipping out of bed to get ready for the day. He could never, ever, ever accomplish this without waking you up, though, so whenever he’d come back to the bedroom, he’d find you sitting up, waiting for him.
Broke his little heart seeing you so sleepy, but not wanting him to leave without his good morning kiss from you. It would simply be a crime if he left without it and you didn’t want to add to his uh, already large list of crimes.
He’d tuck you back into bed after you exchanged goodbye’s and many, many more kisses.
Diluc:
HATES having to wake up and leave before you. Absolutely DESPISES it. Diluc would rather have to tell his brother his true feelings about him face to face in front of a crowd of people, or drink alcohol, or, or… ANYTHING but this.
But alas, business is business and sometimes he has meetings early in the morning or something else that needs to be completed earlier in the day. He’d try his best to scoot out of bed as quietly as he could and not disturb you in the process.
This was always so hard, since you two always slept so closely embraced. As soon as he would hear you stir, whether you’d hum him a quiet greeting or simple roll over in bed, he’d say a few choice words in his head for disturbing your sleep. He might be able to sneak around Mondstadt at night undetected, but he could rarely ever leave your side without being found out.
However, whether he accidently woke you up or not, he couldn’t possibly leave you without saying that he loved you or his morning kiss, so he’d carefully place one your temple and whisper a quiet “I love you” before he left.
Gorou:
You would think as a general Gorou could wake up, slip out of bed, get ready and leave so quietly, the lightest sleeper wouldn’t even stir slightly.
Well… wrong.
This man can’t leave without waking you up almost immediately.
“I’m so sorry, honey,” he’d sigh, hastily throwing on his clothes while watching you blink tiredly at him, yawning. His teal eyes would convey just how sorry he was as they were fixed on your figure the whole time. “I have to leave early to go help out some of the new soldiers this morning, I’m sorry.”
You’d be too tired to respond, choosing to simply watch him in silence until he came to give you your goodbye kisses – always three right on your lips whenever you two departed. You would tell him you loved him in your morning voice that would always make Gorou want to stay longer (his ears twitching ever so slightly would give that away, along with the slight sway of his tail), but he’d tell you he loved you more and that he’d be back later for lunch.
Xiao:
Now this man knows how to leave without disturbing you. The problem is that Xiao is so good at it, he doesn’t even want to tell you bye or give you a goodbye kiss because he thinks it’ll ruin it. The sun wouldn’t even be up yet and he knew you wouldn’t wake up for another several hours, so the last thing he’d want to do is ruin that.
Somehow, your body just knows when he’s leaving though, so when he’s just about to slip out of your window and into the early morning air, he’d hear a soft “I love you, dear,” behind him.
Xiao really wishes you wouldn’t do that because your sleepy voice and exhausted eyes staring at him from the bed really tempted him to just discard his polearm and jump back in bed with you.
He can’t, though, so he’d quickly come back to you, one hand cupping your cheek, and give you a chaste kiss that always lasted a bit longer than you expected before saying he’d try to be back as soon as possible.
Venti:
Venti will actually wake you up to announce he’s leaving and no, he will not feel bad about it.
He doesn’t want you to wake up super confused and think he’s like, totally abandoned you!! So this is his way of making sure you know he’s leaving for a bit and will be back later. He wouldn’t know what to do if he gave you the impressions he didn’t care for you and was just leaving abruptly.
So, in the event he does have to leave early in the morning, either of his own accord or because he has a certain outlander to help find their lost sibling, he’ll gently shake you awake and explain that he’ll be off and will return in due time. He wouldn’t give you the chance to protest or express any disappointment in front of him, either.
Venti will give you lots and lots of goodbye kisses, too, because he could never leave you without pouring out every ounce of love his body had for you. And, he makes sure you remember that he’s always with you with the light breeze that takes his place whenever he’s gone.
Aether:
Aether used to leave you in the mornings without disturbing you, but you somehow trained yourself to wake up whenever he left the bed because there were too many times he’d leave and then come back looking like he had taken a beating.
He worried you so much, so now if you don’t wake up, he’ll nudge you awake so he can explain where he’s going for the day. He understands why you’re like this, since most of his “oh, I’m just going to meet with the archon of this nation to find my lost sibling” turned into “I fought an ancient god/fatui harbinger/that same archon almost to death. And no, I didn’t find out where my sibling is, either.”
So yeah, he can’t leave without explaining to you first what the plan was for the day and promises of returning as soon as he could.
And of course, those promises were always accompanied with many goodbyes kisses planted on your cheeks and nose and forehead and lips and-
Yeah, you get the picture. If it wasn’t for Paimon reminding Aether he had to leave soon, he’d stay right there in his spot beside you, giving you good-bye/good morning kisses until he couldn’t.
Tighnari:
Sometimes, Tighnari would have to wake up before the sun rose to tend to his forest ranger duties. Often times, this meant you wouldn’t wake up since you’d be in a deep sleep still. (Thank the archons, because if you woke up it was hard for you to go back to sleep, so the dendro user hated accidentally disturbing your rest.)
It also meant you’d most likely still be asleep by the time he got back since the shift was so early.
That doesn’t mean he would leave without bidding you some sort of goodbye. He’d leave you a note explaining where he was so you wouldn’t worry if you woke up and plant a quick kiss on your head before he departed.
If you did wake up, though, he’d probably take the time to sit beside you in bed and tell you where he was going and what he’d be doing instead of leaving a note. “I should be back in around five hours,” he’d estimate before standing up and announcing he was leaving. Not without a few goodbye kisses, though, of course.

some of the genshin boys when you have a nightmare!
Includes: Diluc, Gorou, Albedo, and Scaramouche
Genre: Fluff!
Word Count: 380-500ish words per character.
Notes: Just short bullet imagines on what the boys would do when you have a nightmare! Just the boys being mushy, love sick fools over their s/o. I realize that this is a kinda popular thing to write about, so I just want to clarify that I didn’t take any inspiration from anyone on this. If there’s anything I’ve written that is very close to what someone else has written, though, let me know! Spoilers for Albedo’s lore and Scara is very loving and probably a little ooc but who cares! I was going to include more characters but I got kinda tired and couldn’t think of anything, but if you want more characters, just let me know and I’ll write a part two! (Not edited btw hehe)
Diluc:
You paced in front of the fireplace, your bare feet padding against the dark, hardwood floors softly as you bit your nails anxiously. The firewood cracked and popped as it burned slowly beside you and the heat it radiated would normally give you a deep sense of comfort, but it was no longer present – not at the moment. Not with your heart beating wildly, daring to jump right through your ribs and your skin and out of your chest and onto the floor.
“Lady Ragnvindr,” head-maid Adelinde stated as she watched you pace around restlessly, “maybe you should sit down and drink a cup of tea. The Master will be home soon.” When you didn’t respond, she sighed. “You just had a nightmare, y/n. Master Diluc is just at the tavern tonight, and he’ll be back before you know it.”
“I’m not going back to the bed until I know he’s okay,” you answered quietly. Adelinde nodded, before scurrying off to make you a pot of tea.
The minutes ticked by slowly and agonizingly, but almost two hours later, the front door to the Dawn Winery creaked open. Diluc entered silently, under the impression that you’d be upstairs sleeping. Instead, he was met with you sitting in front of the fireplace with a teacup in your grasp as Adelinde sat beside you holding the tea pot. When the door shut, you were startled out of your daze, drawing your attention to him as he approached you. “Diluc, you’re okay,” you murmured, standing to greet him.
“Of course I am,” he responded, shrugging his coat off and tossing it aside onto a nearby chair. When you were close enough, he embraced you warmly and placed a soft kiss on the top of your head before planting another on your lips. “Why would I not be? Did something worry you?”
You had almost forgotten about your tragic dream since Adelinde had convinced you to sit down and tell her what was bothering you so much. You were feeling a lot better now, but you still wanted to be awake for your husband’s return to ease the ball of anxiety residing in your stomach that just wouldn’t leave. “I just had a bad dream,” you explained simply. “It made me worry about you.”
Diluc still had you in his embrace, keeping you close to his body. He glanced up to see Adelinde smile gently at him before leaving to go to the kitchen with the tea pot and cup you had sat down. “Well,” Diluc started, “I apologize for not coming sooner, darling.”
Diluc knew that you always worried for him, with his vigilante job and whatnot. He wished he could reach into your mind and pluck those worries out so you wouldn’t be bothered with any scary dreams of something bad happening to him. Since he can’t do that, though, he’ll just hold you close in the bed, hoping whatever bad dreams tried to disturb you during the night would be scared away by his presence.
Gorou:
You never felt the need to worry for Gorou. Sure, he was a general, but you never felt… anxious or scared when he went out to defend the resistance. You were always confident in his abilities. Being a childhood friend of his and now his lover, you knew Gorou was capable.
After the height of the Vision Hunt was reached and all the fighting happened, though, you quickly realized that danger becoming your fiancé was very real and wasn’t just something to brush aside like you had been.
You tried to convince yourself that you weren’t going to show how worried you were for him though and choked down those thoughts. It didn’t take long for those worries to surface in your dreams, however, and turn them into nightmares.
While you slept, you’d be tormented with visions of Gorou being defeated during a battle. The way he’d lay lifeless on the ground, his vision no longer glowing golden but rather fading in color, just like his life from his veins. You’d wake up in a panic before making sure Gorou was still with you, peacefully sleeping beside you after a long day’s work.
Tonight’s nightmare was just awful, though – worse than any other nightmare you had yet. You don’t know why it was particularly worse this time, but it was and you wanted it to stop but it never did. Just when it couldn’t get any worse, you awoke, sitting up quickly and banging your head on something in the dark.
“I’m sorry!” you heard the hushed whisper of your fiancé in front of you. You opened your eyes to see him rubbing a spot on his forehead. “You were whimpering in your sleep, so I was trying to wake you up. I didn’t expect you to jump up like that.”
You felt a dull pain on your skull from the accidental head butt you had given him. “It’s okay,” you reassured. “I was just having a bad dream.”
“I could tell,” Gorou answered, shifting to sit beside you. “I didn’t want you to experience it anymore… so that’s why I wanted to wake you up.” He reached toward you and guided you to lay against him. “I know you’re worried about me, y/n, but it’ll be okay.”
He laid down, you following suit with your head on his chest, and his arms came to lace around you to hold you closer to him. “But you don’t know that,” you murmured, tears surfacing in the corners of your eyes. “What if it’s not okay?”
“I know I can’t promise anything,” he said. “But, knowing I have you waiting for me at home keeps me here. I can’t just leave you here all alone. I never have and I never will.”
You didn’t feel like forming a rebuttal, and instead continued to lay there and let your fiancé play with your hair as you drifted off to sleep once more.
Albedo:
Your eyes popped open and you observed your surroundings, your heavy breaths beginning to calm as you realized you were just in your room, and no longer in whatever hell you had been in in your nightmare. You sat up and looked at the spot in the bed beside you to see it empty. Flashes of your nightmare surfaced in your memories, and you gulped, remembering this was exactly how it started.
Swinging your legs over the side of the bed, you got up and ventured to the hallway outside of your room, stumbling a bit as you had just woken up. You paused before turning the knob to the room your boyfriend often holed himself up in with his research and cracking the door just enough to see him at his desk, swiftly jotting down notes.
“You’re still here,” you whispered without thinking, drawing Albedo’s attention to you as you lingered in the doorway.
“Oh, y/n, did I wake you?” he asked, turning a bit and welcoming you to come in. You walked over to him and once you were close enough, he placed an arm around your waist. “No,” you responded. “I just had a bad dream.”
A look of concern crossed Albedo’s face as he looked up to you. “A bad dream? What was it about to make you so upset?”
You bit your lip, images that hurt you the worst appearing in your mind like pictures in a photo album. His blonde hair, the fire raging behind him, the blood on his hands. “You destroyed Mondstadt, or at least what was supposed to be Mondstadt.”
Your boyfriend stood from his chair and enveloped you into a hug. “Let me take you back to bed.” What you couldn’t see as he hugged you was how concerned he looked at the mention of your nightmare, but he didn’t want you to see that. “Nothing like that is going to happen, okay?”
With that, he led you back to your bed and laid you down, before getting ready for bed himself so he could ensure that you would be okay.
Even though there was a bigger truth to him than what he told you, Albedo hoped that you would be gone by the time he got to that point. And if you weren’t, he at least hoped you’d be spared from the monster he’d become. But for now, he’ll hold you tightly underneath all your blankets to comfort you that he’d never become what he feared.
Scaramouche:
With a jolt, you awoke, sitting up as your heartbeat pounded in your head. This strange feeling of anxiety coursed through your veins and you don’t know what woke you up but it must have been a nightmare. You felt panicked as your eyes scanned the dark room around you, hoping you could remember what your dream was about in hopes of calming down. As for the time being, though, you could only remain scared and anxious over an unknown cause.
“What are you doing?” a voice asked, startling you. You looked beside you to see your husband, gazing up at you from his position beside you. You could see in the soft moonlight his slightly annoyed expression, but in his eyes you saw concern. Your heart rate seemed to slow as you remembered that everything was okay – you were just at home, safe underneath your covers with the man you married just almost a year ago.
“I just had a bad dream, Scara,” you stated, sighing a bit before you laid down once again. “Sorry if I woke you up.” You rolled over to your back to him, back into the position you had been before you had woken up. You knew he wouldn’t be upset if you had – you had come to learn that his annoyed expressions weren’t really anything and that it was always his eyes that told you how he was feeling. Still, you hated that you might have disturbed him, since he needed every bit of sleep he could get.
“I was already awake,” he responded curtly, though you felt his arm wrap around your waist and pull you closer to him. That was another thing: though his tone could be cold and brash, you knew it had been conditioned to be like that due to his work. You could hear the gentleness and love peppered into his words when he spoke to you, even when all others could hear was short, bland sentences. A quick, soft kiss was placed on your exposed shoulder. “Just go back to sleep, y/n. I’m here.”
Even though he didn’t say it out loud, you could hear the rest of his thought in the night air around you, wrapping around you lovingly like the arm wrapped around your waist.
Nothing will ever harm you if I’m here.

get well soon, dear!
Includes: Childe, Diluc, Kazuha, Kaeya, Thoma, Albedo, Xiao, Aether, and Tighnari
Genre: Fluff! Established relationships. Gender neutral reader (if I did use she somewhere, just let me know!)
Word Count: 620-660+ for each character (I expected them to be shorter, but I got a little carried away)
Notes: Bullet imagine of how some of the Genshin boys would take care of their sick or unwell lover! Mentions of being sick, not being able to swallow pills so Childe hides them in your food, vomiting is said once in Kazuha’s, you have a stomach bug in Kaeya’s so vomiting is mentioned, etc.
Childe:
We all know this man, despite being a super scary harbinger, can be the perfect house husband. Honestly, the duality of Childe’s personality is probably what drew you in in the beginning.
So, whenever you catch a cold or some other illness while spending some time with him in his home nation of Snezhnaya, you won’t have anything to worry about while you’re under his care.
He’s had to take care of his sick siblings before, so this wouldn’t be his first rodeo. As soon as you complained about a sore throat or when he noticed you shivering despite being under the warmest blankets ever made, your fiancé would step up to the plate of making sure every need you had would be taken care of before you were even aware you needed it.
Childe can cook, so he’s going to whip up all the recipes his mom would make him when he was sick as a kid. He knows that having a sore throat may call for a softer diet, so he’d fix you several hot soups to cater to your ailment.
He’d constantly check how many tissues you had left so you’d never run out and he’d always ask if you were comfortable or if you needed more blankets, another pillow, etc.
(Or someone to snuggle with!!)
(Honestly, you didn’t even have to ask for that, since he was already all over you, peppering kisses all your face as he wished you to get better soon in between each one.)
(No, he didn’t care if he was a greater risk of getting sick now, he was going to do everything in his power to make sure that you had no worries while you were sick.)
If you’re like me and have some irrational fear (which it’s totally not irrational) about swallowing pills, do not fear! Childe’s younger siblings have prepared him for this, too.
At first, the standard answer to solve this problem would be to just dissolve your pills, or crush them up and put them in water. However, after watching you gag from the awful taste one too many times, Childe had to come up with another solution. He had tried to put something sweet in the water to give it another flavor in hopes of overpowering the awful taste of medicine, but it was no use. There had to be another way for you take your medicine without feeling any worse.
He’d come in with Mint Jelly, a dish you secretly loved but didn’t have often. “I thought I’d give you a treat to help you feel better,” he’d shrug, placing the dish on the bedside table while you sat up against the headboard. You were used to him coming in with both your medications and your lunch at the same time, but seeing him with only your lunch piqued your interest.
“Where is my medicine?” you asked, taking the plate and placing it your lap.
“Oh, I thought I’d let you eat this first. It would be better not to have the aftertaste of crushed up pills ruining the taste of one of your favorite foods!”
Of course, the trick to the whole ordeal was that he had hidden your pills inside, hoping that they’d go by undetected and you’d swallow them with no problems. And when you placed an empty plate back on the bedside table and thanked him for such a yummy meal, Childe couldn’t help but feel accomplished.
Unfortunately, he’d have to come clean about his doings and his efforts would most likely be unsuccessful in the future (he could see you looking for them in your food later), but hey, he’s trying, alright!
He just doesn’t want you to be in more discomfort than you have to be :(
Diluc:
If he’s able to, Diluc is going to be by your side every second until you’re feeling 100% better again. This would be in a perfect world, though, and Teyvat is not exactly perfect, so Diluc would be unable to care for you all the time as he wishes he could.
This just means he leaves you in the hands of Adelinde while he’s gone, because he knows that she’ll take care of you in the way that you deserve, no matter what your illness is. She had always done the same for him and Kaeya when they were under her care, so he knew she was more than capable of doing the same for you.
Diluc would have to leave during the day to take care of business elsewhere, and when he’d leave, he’d depart with a promise that he’d return soon (before semi-pleading with Adelinde to make sure you were okay, even though that was completely unnecessary since she was going to, anyway).
Once he came back, though, only you would be on his mind.
Diluc would walk into the Dawn Winery and say nothing to his staff as he headed straight to your shared bedroom, stripping off his coat as he did so. Moco and Hillie would whisper how endearing it was for him to have his attention on nothing else but you – out of his hearing range, of course.
Upon entering the bedroom, Adelinde would grin and give him a summary of what you had eaten, what medications you had, and how you had been feeling while he was away, or the lack thereof, since sometimes you would feel too bad to do much anything but sleep.
With Diluc back, though, you’d be placed back under his loving care. If he still had paperwork to deal with, he’d handle it beside you in bed instead of downstairs in his office as you slept soundly beside him, curled up into a little ball with your head in his lap. This was so he could keep an eye on you, and if you needed him, you wouldn’t have far to go to find him.
He’d cuddle you and read to you since your brain couldn’t focus enough to do that yourself. He’d braid your hair while you slept and would frequently check your fever like a worrying mother since he wasn’t always sure what to do. Seeing his sorry expression whenever he pressed the back of his hand to your forehead always made your heart warm.
If you had a terrible sickness, one that caused your body to ache all over and rendered you miserable, Diluc would put all of his duties on hold to stay with you. There was no way he was going to leave you alone to feel this terribly by yourself. These types of sicknesses would make you cry because of how bad you felt, and it pained your husband to see you in such a state. He’d hold you close under the covers as you shivered from your fever, placing soft kisses on your forehead and whispering comforting words of affection.
And rest assured that if you ever asked him something while you were under the weather, he’d comply immediately. If you asked him to get you a treat (because sweet treats always made things better), he’d already be halfway down the stairs before you could get the rest of the sentence out of your mouth. If you needed another blanket, he’d bring back five. If you needed someone to hold you and talk to you since your sickness prevented you from falling asleep at night – well, that’s a silly thing to ask for since Diluc was already there at your disposal <3.
Kazuha:
You were on your first voyage upon the Crux with Kazuha, courtesy of Beidou peer-pressuring him into convincing you to come aboard for once. She didn’t know much about you, but she could pick up on that you were too shy to ask if you could go on your own.
(Not only was this just allowing her to meet the special someone Kazuha couldn’t stop talking about, but it was also so Kazuha could stop talking about how much he missed you when he left.)
You had been enjoying it for a little bit, until suddenly you disappeared and Kazuha couldn’t find you anywhere. It wasn’t until one of the kids on the ship asked what was wrong with you that he found you in a shady corner, knees pulled up to your chest and your face as white as the snow in Dragonspine. One look at you and he could tell you were seasick. After all, this was your first boat ride. You hadn’t become accustomed to the swaying feeling of being on a ship, so it was expected for you to become this way.
“I was going to tell you I felt bad, but then I thought you’d think I was… I don’t know… stupid,” you murmured, your voice quiet. As soon as you realized that the dizzy feeling you were experiencing wasn’t normal, you had separated yourself from your boyfriend to hide yourself somewhere so as not to worry him, or draw his attention away from what he had been doing.
“I wouldn’t think you were stupid,” Kazuha chuckled, brushing a strand of hair away from your face and tucking it behind your ear. His smile was kind as he took your hands into his. “This is very common, so don’t feel bad. Why don’t we try to find a better spot to rest in, hm?”
“As long as it’s not up there,” you said, pointing up to the crow’s nest, causing him to laugh. You had gone up there earlier with him and that was probably where you began to feel your stomach churn with the waves as you looked upon the sea around you. “No, dove, we won’t go up there.”
You did feel bad for already dampening your trip, and when Beidou asked if you were okay, you felt worse because you thought that maybe she hated you for putting a damper on things. But Kazuha reassured you that nobody was upset with you, and nobody would be upset with you. Everyone gets seasick at some point!
He’d find the perfect spot for you to lounge at, someplace out of the direct sun so you could prevent yourself from getting overheated as that would just make matters worse.
Kazuha would stay with you until you felt better, sitting beside you with an arm around your waist to reassure you that he was there if you needed him. You’d rest your head upon his shoulder and listen to him recite verses of poetry he’d think of on the spot to cheer you up. If you decided that your little spell was over, he’d help you get up and would most likely keep his arm around you while you walked around the ship, just in case you felt sick again.
After your first incidence of seasickness, he wouldn’t leave you alone. The last thing he wanted was for you to vomit or worse, pass out, all by yourself. He knew you too well, first of all; if those things were to happen, you’d probably jump ship out of embarrassment and swim all the way back to Inazuma before anyone realized you were gone. Besides, if something happened to you while he wasn’t there, how was he supposed to take care of you? That was literally his job, after all.
Kaeya:
Kaeya found it very suspicious that he hadn’t seen you around work yet. When he had left that morning, you said you would come in later since you felt nauseous. He didn’t think anything of it, really, since he had just woken up and felt half-asleep still himself. He remembered telling you that he hoped you felt better and to come see him when you arrived before giving you a couple goodbye kisses before he left.
But now at noon, you hadn’t done as he had asked and he hadn’t even seen you around when he made some rounds around the halls. On a normal day, you could be seen walking around the halls, visiting with other knights, or even browsing the books in the library on your off-time, but there had been no sign of you. Concerned, he asked around to see if maybe you were just avoiding him (perhaps he had stolen all the covers from you last night and you were getting payback?). All the knights he had denied seeing you, Lisa sighed and said she hadn’t see you all day, even Klee seemed a bit down that you hadn’t come and given the young girl her daily hug she always received from you. Finally, when he asked the Acting Grand Master if she had seen you only to met with a shake of the head, Kaeya knew something was up.
Once home, the Calvary Captain was met with a quiet house. He noticed your keys were still by the door with other things you’d always take with you when you left the house, so you must still be home. And when he entered your shared bedroom, he discovered you sleeping peacefully. Only, there was a bowl on the floor by the bed and a bottle of medicine on the bedside table.
He didn’t want to disturb you, so he left you, carefully cracking the door behind him so you could have more privacy. He wouldn’t be going back to work, though, since know his duty was to take care of his spouse! Jean would just have to give him a free pass for the day. Husband duties, what can he say?
After being home for a bit, he’d hear you stir in the bedroom before he’d hear the awful sound of you throwing up. He’d immediately come in, surprising you as he asked if you were okay.
“I didn’t know you were home,” you’d state, your voice hoarse as you sat up to view your husband.
“Well, of course. You never showed up to work, so I had come check on you,” Kaeya said, coming to take the bowl you had thrown up in to dump it out in the sink. “I thought maybe you were just mad at me for stealing the blankets last night.”
You’d grin before saying that you must have a stomach bug since you had been throwing up all day. Kaeya wasn’t exactly an expert on how to care for a sick person, but he did know that you probably needed to stay hydrated considering what was going on. On top of making sure you always had water at the ready, he would frequently check if you needed anything else. However, you were mostly asleep so there wasn’t much you asked for.
But he was still there, just in case!
“You know,” you started after Kaeya handed you dinner-in-bed, “you’re probably going to get this, too.”
The cryo user scoffed, rolling his eyes a bit. “What, no way,” he sarcastically said, smiling a bit. “I guess that means you’ll just have to take care of me when the time comes,” he sighed, placing a soft kiss on the top of your head.
He really didn’t mind, though. He’d risk getting sick a thousand times over and over again just to make sure you were given the best care while you were sick.
After all, those are his husbandly duties!
Thoma:
You had gone to bed one night feeling a bit more tired than usual, but you had just chalked it up to be that maybe you had worked harder than you normally do. However, when you woke up the next morning with a pounding headache and a burning fever, you knew that it was more than just you being tired – you were sick.
“Oh, dear,” Thoma cooed after pressing the back of his hand to your forehead. “You’re burning up, y/n. You must have caught that cold going around.”
Just like Childe, we all know Thoma is also a house husband, which means he’s going to dote on you all he can and give you the best care while he’s at it!
You continued to lay in bed while your husband fished through cabinets and drawers looking for any medications that might help you feel better. He came up partially successful, bringing you some medicine that would help relieve your headache. He got you a glass of water and watched you take them before asking if you wanted to join him at the Kamisato estate while he worked so he could keep an eye on you while also working.
You politely declined, explaining that you’d rather not risk the chance of getting anyone else sick and you saw how disappointed your lover was. His green eyes were filled with concern as he thought about his options for the day. His upmost priority was you, since you weren’t feeling well in the slightest and it wasn’t in your best interest to be left all alone. Besides, if Thoma had to miss a day of work for this, he was sure the Kamisato siblings would understand and not berate him.
“Well, I guess I’m all yours today, then!”
He’d fix you yummy, comfort foods to make your miserable sickness more bearable. He kept a very close eye on you, keeping track of every symptom as it came and went and also the exact minute you took your medications. This wasn’t exactly hard for him to do, since ninety percent of his time was spent in bed with you, holding you close as you trembled from your fever.
You’d try to tell him to go elsewhere in the house since you knew he wouldn’t leave altogether, because you didn’t want him to get sick, too. But he didn’t mind! All that mattered to him was that you were taken care of and given the treatment you needed while you were under the weather. He knew he’d probably get sick, anyways, but that would have to dealt with when it came.
When he had to run an errand, whether it be to get more medicine or pick up ingredients to make another dish for you, he’d make sure you were okay before he ran off. This meant that he’d tuck you under the covers tightly, making sure you were comfortable and weren’t in immediate need of anything since he wouldn’t be back for little bit. Thoma didn’t want you to get up and tire yourself out over something while he wasn’t there.
Yes, he knew you could take care of yourself, but you were sick! This was not the time to show your independence! Let him take care of you like he was made to do <3
(If you tried to get up and get something yourself, Thoma would lightly scold you and tell you get back in bed while he took care of what you needed. “You’re supposed to be taking it easy while I take care of you! You need to rest so you can get better!”)
At night when you’d finally fall asleep since your pounding headache made it hard to, Thoma would stay awake in case you woke up and needed him. But, after a long day and making sure the love of his life had every need of theirs met, he too would drift off to sleep, holding your body closely to him.
Albedo:
You were one to keep working, despite any ailments or injuries trying to hinder you from doing so. So, when you showed up at the Chief Alchemist’s lab in Dragonspine, all he could do was sigh when he saw your sorry state before guiding you to the fire he had built and instructing you to stay there while he found you something to help you feel better.
“So, despite having a burning fever and being barely able to breathe, you travelled all the way here just to bring me these little vials?” Albedo asked, stripping himself of his jacket and wrapping it around you as you sat on one of the chairs around the fire.
“Sucrose said you needed them, but she was busy at the moment and wouldn’t be able to bring them to you,” you explained, hugging his jacket closely to you. “I thought I could help.”
You heard your boyfriend hum as he searched for the medicine he was looking for. “I appreciate the thought, but I can’t see Sucrose letting you get away with that.”
“She didn’t,” you said before coughing. “I took it while she wasn’t watching since she said she wouldn’t allow me to because I’m sick.”
Albedo, grinning a bit at the thought of you doing that, came over to you, holding out the medications you needed to help ease the discomfort you were experiencing. “I gathered as much. I hope you’re okay with staying here for the rest of the day, because you’re not leaving until I do.” Before you could interject, he added, “And you’re not sneaking out while I’m not watching, either.”
Albedo wasn’t exactly doting on you the whole time you were in his lab. He left you to your own devices by the fire most of the time, only coming over to give you medicines when it was time and to press his hands to your forehead to see how your fever was doing. While he was at his desk, though, he’d occasionally ask over his shoulder how you were feeling and if you needed anything. If you stated that you were feeling hungry or cold, or needed something else, he’d get up immediately from his workbench and fulfill your needs with no complaints.
What you didn’t see was his anxious glances toward you every ten seconds, making sure you weren’t dead or doubled over in the fire. Even if he wasn’t at your feet begging to be given some sort of instruction on how to care for you while you were sick, that didn’t mean he wasn’t worried about you.
However, when you had fallen asleep without him knowing and he turned to see you on the ground curled up into a little ball, he had to admit that you gave him a bit of a scare. Despite being in the middle of something, he dropped what he was doing and rushed over to make sure you hadn’t kicked the bucket while he wasn’t watching. Discovering that you were just sleeping, though, he took the time to make you a small cot and moved you to that instead of the stone floor of the lab.
Next time you decided to pull something like that, though, he’d appreciate you telling him you were just laying down since the chair was too uncomfortable to sleep in.
If you were still asleep when he decided his work for the day was done, Albedo would probably make the decision to stay in the lab for the night with you instead of waking you up to go back home. He had plenty here to take care of you, but in the morning he was taking you back home, even if he had to carry you.
Xiao:
Xiao never had any reason to understand why humans get sick, how to care for them when they are sick, or what to do when they do get sick. He himself could not experience this phenomenon and as far as he was concerned, he would never have anything to do with humans so why would he need to take the time to learn about human sicknesses and the like?
Of course, that all changed when he came back after a short, two day departure and found you in one of the worst states he could ever imagine. If you weren’t so sick, you probably would’ve laughed and asked to take his picture when you saw the, well, appalled expression he wore when he saw you. Quite frankly, the first thought he had was that you were dying, but you didn’t seem like you were dying, so the poor adeptus was just very, very confused.
The day Xiao left, you had woken up with a terrible headache and luckily, you were close to Verr Goldet so when you hadn’t greeted her at your usual time that morning, she knocked on your door to check on you. Instead of finding you oversleeping, though, she found you feeling miserable with a fever through the roof.
When Xiao came back though, you seemed to be at the height of your ailment, with the same fever, but with body aches and chills, as well as a cough that surfaced every now and then. You felt so bad, you were close to tears and upon seeing you in such a sorry state, Xiao realized he was actually worried about a human for one of the first times ever.
“Why didn’t you call for me?” he asked quietly, stepping toward you cautiously as he tried to understand what was going on. Despite being in your room at the Wangshu Inn, he felt like he was in a new place altogether, trying to get a grasp of this new environment.
“Because,” you started through a fit of coughs, “I’m just sick. There’s not much you can do about it.” And that was the truth of the matter and Xiao understood that because unlike demons and monsters, Xiao can’t exactly beat your sickness to death and make you feel better.
Still, he wishes he could do more.
He just feels so useless seeing you writhe in pain in bed while he just has to stand there and watch you. If this was any sort of mortal danger, he could take care of you in a heartbeat. Alas, not everything had a simple solution.
So, in an effort to try to take care of his lover, he’d carefully watch Verr Goldet’s actions when she’d come in to help prepare your medicine. It didn’t take long for him to pick up on it, so the next time she came in, she’d find Xiao doing it for her.
His hands were always careful. He’d gently caress the skin of your forehead while you slept, inwardly grimacing at how warm you were. He had watched Verr Goldet place cold rags on you to help, so he’d gently lay them on your head and if you stirred, he’d mentally curse himself for disturbing you. He had heard the inn keeper say that you getting lots of rest was important to your recovery and he didn’t want to prolong your suffering by waking you.
He still wasn’t used to affection and showing his love for you, so while you slept he’d keep watch over you from the window, ready to help you at a moment’s notice in the event that you needed it. While you were awake, he’d talk to you quietly or sit on the end of the bed to keep you company.
After watching you go through this, he was definitely ready for the next time it happened. (Though, after seeing how dreadful it was, he hoped that there wouldn’t be a next time.)
Aether:
Normally, you were always up for a new adventure every day. In fact, it wasn’t uncommon for you to wake up before Aether, bursting with excitement of a new day to discover new people and places.
Today was not one of those days.
You did wake up early (not before Aether, though) and you started off strong, but almost as soon the journey for the day began, you felt awful.
A pounding headache pulsated in your cranium and you felt sluggish as you walked down the dirt path with your blonde lover and his floating companion.
“Paimon thinks something might be wrong with y/n,” Aether’s companion whispered to him, causing him to stop and realize how bad you were lagging behind. He could hear you heaving for breath as you tried to keep up, which was very uncharacteristic of you. Seeing how pitiful you looked, he ran to catch up with you and just in the nick of time to catch you before you collapsed.
“What’s wrong with them?” Paimon asked, watching Aether anxiously lay you down in the grass in a comfortable position. “I don’t know,” he responded, seeing how out of it you seemed, though something told him you were just sick and your body needed to rest instead of go on any new adventure for the day.
“Y/n,” he cooed, gathering things from his inventory that might help you feel better. “Are you okay? What’s up?”
“My head hurts,” is all you could mutter, causing the boy to look upon you sadly but endearingly. “Don’t worry, love, I’ll take care of you.”
“And Paimon!” Paimon interjected, placing her hands on her hips.
With all the plants and other things Aether had collected over his journeys, he had plenty of things that could potentially help you feel better. The only thing was that he wasn’t exactly sure where to start. Him and Paimon would go through everything, trying to recall what they had seen or heard others using, like Tighnari or Baizhu. While this was going on, Aether kept his hand in yours, reassuring you that he wouldn’t be leaving you to face this alone.
The verdict ended up being that neither Aether nor Paimon had any clue as to what to use to help you, but what they could do was make sure that you took it easy for the rest of the day! That being said, Aether hoisted you up into his arms and walked back to the inn you three had been staying in to ensure that you wouldn’t have to wither away under the hot sun like a parched plant. All the way there, he’d murmur little statements of his love for you and how he’d make sure you would feel better in no time.
Once back, he got you tucked back into bed under the soft covers of the inn’s room with a promise of being beside you the whole time. He was as your disposal, so whatever you needed or wanted just let him know! He’d want to cradle you and braid you hair while you laid there pitifully, but he didn’t want to disturb the rest he knew you needed.
Instead, he settled for sitting in the bed beside you, to be near but also not distracting you from sleeping. Even Paimon would be careful of talking too loud or causing any ruckus in the room. They both really care for you and wanted to ensure that you’d be feeling better so you could join them once again!
Even if you did feel 100% better the next day, Aether would probably still be worried and suggest that you two just have one more day of rest before you went out again. “Just think of it as… a cuddle day! Yeah, a cuddle day.”
Who were you to complain about that?
Tighnari:
Being sick? Around Tighnari? Who better to be around when you’re under the weather?
This time, though, it was sudden, taking the both of you by surprise.
First of all, you hadn’t seen the forest watcher all day, since he left before you woke up and when he came back, he was instructed not to disturb you since you had some work to get done.
And it wasn’t because you were incapable of getting any work done with him around, but more often than not, you would find yourself getting distracted and giggling with him rather than completing any tasks you had at hand. Today, though, you needed to complete some data sheets for the research team you were working with before you could find Tighnari and bother him with his work.
It was a little after lunch time when Tighnari heard quick footsteps approaching him. “Master Tighnari!” Collei exclaimed, rushing to meet him, her voice urgent. “I was sent to tell you that-”
“Y/n seems to be sick,” another forest watcher ended. He was part of your research team and he was the one to find you sniffling over your work. “And she won’t stop working even though we told her to take a break.”
Tighnari sighed, though he wasn’t annoyed. This was very like you. “Alright, let’s see what we can do.”
As expected, you immediately tried to say that you weren’t sick, but your congested voice, runny nose, and cough begged to differ. “I have to finish this,” you managed to choke out before being sent into another coughing fit. You tried to slap your boyfriend’s hands away as he reached for your papers, only for him to gently push yours away as a response.
“Well, I’m sure someone else can finish it while you’re out of commission,” Tighnari answered, quickly gathering up your notebooks and papers and handing them off to Collei who gave them to one of your research partners. He placed a hand on your arm and gestured off in the distance toward his home. “Let’s go get you some medicine so you can start feeling better.”
Obviously, since you were with Tighnari, you were going to be given the best treatment the forest could give you. After he gathered some plants and herbs that would begin to help you feel better, he instructed you to lie down and take it easy. With how congested you were, it was hard for you to doze off at first, but Tighnari kept you company until you did. When you finally passed out, he stayed outside the door so he would still be close in the event that you needed him, but he wasn’t directly hovering.
He’s going to be strict with your medicines and healing regimens. The medicine tastes bad? He’s sorry and he’ll try find something to make it better, but you’re not getting out of taking it. You don’t feel like eating? He understands, but you need to, so he’ll make you easier dishes to eat.
But he’s definitely very caring and loving to you the whole time. At night when you can’t sleep, he’ll hold you for a while until you drift off. He’ll play with your hair and pepper kisses on the top of your head while you rest. If he’s out of the house and hears you call for him, he’ll immediately drop whatever he’s doing and check on you and he’ll 100% bring you whatever you’re asking for.
(Unless it’s your work, then you might as well forget about it.) (You probably won’t be seeing it again until you’re feeling 100% better.) (If you convince someone else to get it for you, he will personally fight them for complying knowing you were in no shape to work.)
“Do you really think you’re in the shape to write out all your research? And if you are, do you think the Academiya wants your papers covered in snot?”

talk to me - xiao
Pairing: Xiao x Reader
Genre: Fluff!! Gender neutral reader. Established relationship.
Word Count: 780+
Notes: Xiao isn’t much of a talker, and that’ll probably never change. But, you always make up for the silence. And, contrary to what everyone thinks, it’s something he actually looks forward to at the end of the day.
Truth be told, Xiao did enjoy the peace and quiet. He enjoyed quiet evenings to himself on the balcony of Wangshu Inn, silent walks to take in Liyue’s beautiful landscape, but there was one thing he enjoyed a lot more than those moments.
“So,” you started speaking again once you had taken another sip of your drink to clear your throat. “While you were gone, I finished that book while I was reading, so I started another one!” You sat your chopsticks down, your plate still practically full while your lover’s was almost finished. His eyes were trained on you while you spoke, following every moment of your hands as you dramatically flung them about, watching how your facial expressions conveyed every emotion you were feeling with every word you spoke, admiring how excited you were to catch him up on what you thought he missed while he was away protecting Liyue last week. He had just returned around half an hour ago and as per tradition (or, what was seemed to be tradition now), you invited him to join you while you ate.
Yes, it was these very moments that Xiao looked forward to the most. Half of what you had to tell him was already old news for him. He knew you had already started another book since he’d check up on you at night while you slept during his departure. It’d be a quick visit, just enough for him to make sure you were okay before he returned to his duties. And even during the day, he wouldn’t be too far away from you when you ventured out on walks around Liyue, ensuring your travels were safe and peaceful. He knew all about your friend’s run-in with a ruin guard, or how you found the prettiest seashells during a midnight stroll on the beach.
But it didn’t matter if Xiao already knew what you were telling him as you neglected your lunch. Seeing how excited you would get to tell him all about your week was enough to ease the pain of the karmic debt he was cursed with. He enjoyed listening to you talk about your feelings and share the most personal thoughts you had.
“Anyways,” you finished, picking your chopsticks back up to begin to pick at your lunch once more. Xiao was already done, but he would wait for you to finish before he left you. “Sorry, that was probably a lot.” A light blush painted your cheeks a faint pink as you started to eat once more.
It was a lot. But that was the best part to him. To be able to sit there in Wangshu Inn with you, alone, away from any prying eyes as you told him all about your week- that was everything he needed and much, much more. He understood what you were implying – you talked too much, while he never spoke a single word – and that you felt bad. “No,” he countered, leaning forward a bit on the table you shared. “Tell me more.”
The smile you’d gain from those three words alone was enough to grant the adeptus all the peace he’d need for the rest of his life. You knew he wouldn’t lie just to flatter you – you found that out when you first started talking to him. Sometimes, it was hard to get past his harsh honesty when he was annoyed or dissatisfied. So, at times like this, when he’d request that you tell him every detail he missed while he was gone, or when his first words to you upon his arrival would be “How was your week?” or “What did you do while I was gone?”, you knew he genuinely wanted to hear more from you. This was a stark contrast to how he had been a couple years ago when you two first met, since back then he deemed humans as a waste of his time. Back then, he wouldn’t give you the time of day, but now you were his favorite part of every second he was alive.
Xiao would love to hear you voice every thought that came into your head at all hours of the day. He would love nothing more than to lay on the roof of Wangshu Inn and star gaze as you rambled about topics he didn’t even know about. The intimacy of you sharing your deepest thoughts and opinions was so validating for him. You trusted him, you loved him, and you didn’t care if he didn’t find his own life that interesting to talk about. So, please, don’t feel bad for doing all the talking when you two are together, because to him that was exactly what he needed.

last minute christmas gift - diluc
Pairing: Boyfriend!Diluc x Reader
Genre: Fluff! Female reader
Word Count: 1.4k
Notes: Diluc has to work Christmas day and you’re bound and determined to visit him to spend the holiday with him. Only, the winery staff seems to be doing everything they can to prevent you from leaving and your boyfriend actually wasn’t at work this whole time…? Merry Christmas/happy holidays everyone!! (sorry for any typos i wrote this kinda quickly so i could post it on christmas day hehe)
You could hear soft footsteps approach you as you fished through your jewelry box in search of the perfect pair of earrings to match your outfit. “Oh y/n, where might you be going?” Adelinde’s gentle voice cut through the air and you saw her standing in the doorway to the guest bedroom you were staying in for the holidays. Diluc had invited you stay a few nights at the winery to celebrate Christmas with him and the staff. You wouldn’t be able to visit your family this Christmas, and vice versa since they were so far away in Fontaine, so you accepted your boyfriend’s invitation gladly. You arrived the day before Christmas Eve and you would be leaving tomorrow morning, though you would probably be back the next day since you two spent so much time together.
“I was going to go visit Diluc while he’s working,” you answered, softly cursing as the back of an earring stabbed your finger. “Oh, these would be perfect,” you thought as you grabbed them.
“Oh?” Adelinde’s eyes widened slightly before she smiled kindly. “Y/n, it’s so cold outside, though, are you sure? He’ll be back later.”
It was unfortunate that Diluc had to work today – on Christmas, no less. You understood that it gave Charles the chance to go home and see his family, but still it was upsetting for you so hear last minute that you would barely spend any time with your lover on such a special occasion. That’s why you thought you could go visit him while he was at work, so you could make the most of the holiday. Sure, you spent almost every day with the man, but on Christmas? This was special! “But it’s Christmas, Adelinde. It’ll just be another gift to him today.”
The head maid sighed. “I know, y/n,” she said as she watched you gather your coat and push past her to leave the room. “But do you think he’d be very happy with you if you walked all the way there in the freezing cold?”
A soft smile came across your features as you imagined him gently scolding you. He wouldn’t be mad, of course, but he cared for your safety and he wouldn’t be too thrilled if he heard you had done something like that. “No,” you answered. “But I don’t care. It’s the thought that counts.”
Adelinde bit her lip. Her main job today was to make sure you didn’t leave the winery and here you were, dressed up in your cutest attire to venture out into the snowy afternoon. Luckily, Elzer was there to help.
“Y/n, his shift will end before you know it and then you’ll have him all to yourself the rest of the night,” the butler interrupted, moving a bit to block you from the doorway. “There’s no sense in risking your health. I went out earlier and I nearly slipped and broke my back.”
It seemed like everyone was against you today, despite it being such a joyful holiday. A visible pout appeared on your face as you turned your direction away from leaving and to the couch in front of the fireplace. You admit, you were being a bit silly acting this way since you would be seeing him later in the night, but you really didn’t understand why he had to work Christmas. Instead, he could be here, enjoying the lovely desserts Adelinde had made with you. If anything, you were starting to get a bit annoyed. Here you were, already dressed up pretty, wearing your new perfume gifted to you by the special man in question earlier in the morning, not able to go out as you had planned. You were so frustrated that you felt a tear surface but you blinked it back. It was silly to cry over this. There was no need to act this way over such a small matter.
An hour and a half had passed, and you noticed that none of the staff were in the room with you. They had been idly lurking around, preventing you from trying to leave once more but after Adelinde had given you a slice of pie and a blanket so you could lounge on the couch, it seemed they had assumed that you had given up your endeavors. Their mistake, because you had never take your shoes off and seeing that your opportunity was open, you quickly sprung up, grabbing your coat and quietly slipping out of the winery’s front door.
It was cold, bitterly cold. The wind nipped you as you pulled your coat tightly to you and there was a thin sheet of ice on the ground outside the door. You felt your nose and cheeks turning red already, so that just meant you had to be faster in your travels. You turned to make your escape only to run right smack dab into someone else. If you didn’t know any better, you would have assumed it was Adelinde and begged for forgiveness, but the figure was much too tall to be her.
“Trying to run away from here already, hm?” Diluc chuckled, planting a small kiss on the top of your head while he wrapped you in a hug. “I can tell you’ve already been using the gift I got you.” Before you could say anything, the winery owner was guiding you back inside, which you were thankful for since you were already freezing. You made a mental note that you probably wouldn’t last two seconds in Dragonspine.
Upon entering the winery once more, you were expecting to see the staff giving you dirty looks for making your escape. Instead, they were all giving you warm-hearted smiles. You think that worried you more. “I wanted to come see you while you were at work since it’s Christmas,” you said, looking up at Diluc. His eyes seemed to be glowing, giving him a very cheery and bright appearance. You noticed he kept the small braid you had done earlier, pulling it into the high ponytail he had his hair in.
“I appreciate the thought, my dear,” he responded, guiding you back to the couch you had just come from. Unknown to you, he looked at the winery staff members, which was a message to leave the room while he sat you down in front of the fire, to which they all obeyed immediately. The plate from your pie from earlier was gone now. “About that, y/n, I wasn’t at Angel’s Share.”
You blinked as you watched him give you a sorrowful expression. His cheeks were flushed from the cold outside, but he was warm to the touch. Maybe that’s why the staff was trying to keep you from leaving. “H-huh? What do you mean?”
“Well,” he started, looking over to the crackling fire, “there was a gift I really wanted you to have and today was the only day I could get it. And this was the most important gift I wanted you to receive, so I couldn’t pass it up. I’m sorry for lying to you, but I didn’t want to spoil the surprise for you.”
Your brows were furrowed as you felt him grab your hand and give it a little squeeze. “It’s okay, love, but you didn’t need to lie to me.” You shifted a bit closer to him and you could smell his cologne waft in the air around you. The moment felt tender and warm.
“I hope you can forgive me for that,” he said, almost bashful. “That’s not the point, though, dear.” He cleared his throat and took your other hand, bringing it to his lips to place a kiss on your knuckles. “I know this might be a bit sudden since we haven’t really talked about it, but I thought that this was the right moment. We’ve been together for almost four years now-”
“Are you breaking up with me?” You asked suddenly, interrupting him since you felt like maybe this conversation wasn’t going to end in the way you wanted it to. Your mouth worked faster than your brain this time, and you pressed a hand to your mouth out of shock.
Diluc’s eyes widened, and he blinked as his posture seemed to tense up before relaxing once more. “N-no,” he stammered before reaching into the coat he wore and pulling out the most beautiful ring you had ever seen. The diamonds in the golden ring caught the light from the fire just perfectly, making them glow like snowflakes in the winter sun. “I’m proposing to you.”
Now it was your turn to widen your eyes as you stared at the ring in disbelief. Diluc was right, this was a bit sudden, but you always imagined proposals were sudden and not always expected. Time seemed to slow down as your brain tried to form a coherent thought, but ultimately you were left speechless. Well, except for the eager “yes!” you exclaimed before grabbing him in a tight hug.

burnt out - tighnari
Pairing: Boyfriend!Tighnari x Student!Reader
Genre: Angst, I guess? Comfort later, though. Female reader.
Word Count: 2.5k
Notes: You’ve been working toward your degree at the Academiya for four years now, and as the days go on, Tighnari starts to notice that your diligence to your studies has gone by the wayside. Just when he thinks he has to have a talk with you, it’s brought to his attention that you aren’t just slacking off, but that there’s a bigger problem at hand. (Very self-indulgent lmao.)
Warnings: mentions of burnout and all the things that come of it! Tighnari is unaware of the situation so he’s a bit brash at first. (He also might be a little OOC im so sorry.) Vomiting is also mentioned – not graphically, just mentioned a few times. Also not entirely for sure how the Academiya runs in genshin but I structured it kind of like college to make it easier for me :)
“So, I got the exam, right? And I looked at the first page and was like, ‘Whoa, I know this stuff!’ And I just went through the whole test like that, so I think I did well! There were a couple I was confused about, but I think I got them, so I’m not too worried.” You stood from the crouched position you had been in and sighed, wiping the sweat from off your brow as you waited for an approving response from your boyfriend.
“You always study hard, so I would expect nothing less from you,” was the response Tighnari gave and oh, how damaging to you would it soon turn out to be.
It was a slow process, of course. It wasn’t like you just woke up one day and decided that you had no urge to even step foot on the premise of the Academiya, let alone even gaze in its direction. It was a gradual feeling that started to bubble within after four years of diligent studying and research to graduate and obtain a much sought-after degree in biology. This was a goal you had always been passionate about. Ever since you were young, you always wanted to learn more about the world around you, specifically nature’s role in it. You were still in the process of trying to write your thesis, with the help of your just as diligent boyfriend, Tighnari. Of course, the thesis work was all you – he was just there for support and to help out when needed. A lot of your time together was spent outside in the rainforest, collecting data and observing nature do it’s thing.
You spend a lot of time at Pardis Dhyai, since a lot of your research revolves around botany, but you also travel to Gandharva Ville not only to see your lover but also for research purposes. Your time spent in the rainforest with the forest watchers was always brief and you’d return back to Pardis Dhyai almost as soon as you left, but your stays have gotten longer. At first, you said it was because your work that needed to be done back at “home base” as you referred to it as didn’t have to start as soon as you woke up in the morning but then you changed your story to “Gandharva ville has more materials I need for my research.” Either one was acceptable; after all, students do tend to travel all over the place to gather material and data for their research topics. It wasn’t uncommon for you to even go someplace else in Sumeru for a couple days. The only problem with your second excuse was that you spent more time in Tighnari’s abode rather than outside inspecting plants and their habitats.
“You’re still here? I thought you said you were going to go out in the field today,” Tighnari said, seeing that you sitting at his desk, a notebook opened in front of you. The pages were blank except for a few scribbles and doodles. When he had left earlier, you had told him you needed to go into the field and see how the plants you were observing were doing since you hadn’t since last week. But it appeared that you hadn’t even attempted to leave.
“Oh, yeah, I had a lot to do this week so I thought I’d take it easy today, actually,” you answered.
“Understandable,” was all he replied with, a feeling of doubt surfacing that was quickly shaken away.
This theme of your “I need to blah blah blah” statements and then never actually doing what “needed” to be done became a very frequent occurrence. “Didn’t you say the test this week was super hard? I haven’t seen you touch your notes once in the past two days,” Tighnari noted as you ate lunch one day by a stream.
“It’s not until later in the week so I have time,” you said, shrugging. He decided not to press the issue further, putting his trust in the fact that you’d most likely just study when it came closer to time. Though, he’d really suggest starting now, but oh well.
And it continued like this, but you’d come back and explain that you didn’t do as well on that test as you thought you would followed by, “I should’ve studied more, but I just felt like I couldn’t.” Tighnari asked why you would return so late to Pardis Dhyai when you had work to do there, but you’d just brush it off and say that you could take care of it, you just might have to work longer one day. He’d stand at the entrance of your little “home base” and wave at you, telling you to have a nice rest of the week with a voice in his head saying that something was up with you but he just couldn’t put his finger on it.
You were always so diligent with your schoolwork. So focused and never missing a due date. You were always in the field, ready to learn and make observations. You’d go through notebook after notebook, filling the pages with endless pieces of knowledge and experiences you had come across, completely immersing yourself in your work and loving every minute of it. But now, you were different. Things had changed over these past four years. You weren’t as eager to go out in the field with him and when you were, the enjoyment didn’t last long and you’d get restless and distracted from the tasks at hand. Your stays at his place consisted of basically just you sleeping over until you stated you were ready for him to walk you back to Pardis Dhyai. You didn’t have your nose in books or notes anymore or ask him to quiz you for your next test. It was almost as if you weren’t even a student anymore. Were you just… becoming lazy? Surely not, as that was so unlike you. Perhaps… you had grown to dislike your degree choice, or realized that you just didn’t like it as much as you thought.
Tighnari decided he needed to address this concern of his to you and figure out what was going on. Maybe you just needed a little push to get going again! If that was the case, he was always there to encourage you. Hopefully you hadn’t forgotten all the times he’s helped you with your research, because if you were stuck and didn’t know how to continue with it, he’d totally help you out just as he had before.
When Tighnari entered Gandharva Ville, he was approached by Collei before he could reach his home. “Master Tighnari!” the young girl greeted. “I was waiting for you to return. I was wanting to ask you if there’s anything I could do to help (Y/N)? I didn’t know she was sick and I feel bad for not keeping her company while you were gone.”
“Sick?” Tighnari echoed. “I didn’t know she was sick, either.” His brows furrowed and gazed off into the distance, looking at his home and wondering what he had missed while he was out.
“Oh?” Collei bit at the inside of her cheek as she followed the male’s gaze. “I figured (Y/N) hadn’t ate yet, so I made her a couple pita pockets so she could take a break from her studies. When I walked in, though, she was sitting on the ground with her head in her hands. She said she had just thrown up.”
A lot of thoughts were running through the forest ranger’s mind. At first, he had wanted to retort and say that you probably weren’t studying earlier, but rather drawing meaningless doodles in the pages of your notebook that should have your work written on them instead. But you had thrown up? Tighnari didn’t even waste another second, but instead headed straight to his home.
Upon entering, you were seated on the bed, braiding a series of small flowers together into bracelets, something you’d always do when you were little and out playing in the forest with your friends. You had made several of these for Tighnari in the past, all of which were dried and turning to dust somewhere in a vase in his house. You looked up before going back to your braiding. “I know, I know. I’m not studying. You don’t have to say anything this time,” you said softly, a bit of strain in your voice.
Ouch. “That’s not-“ he sighed, “Collei said you were sick?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah. I just threw up a little. My throat still hurts a bit, but I’m fine,” you responded, a bit of what he assumed was embarrassment written on your face.
Your boyfriend observed the space around you. A half-eaten pita pocket lay on a plate, discarded on his desk, cold and stale. Next to it, your books were open and your notebook was out and he was surprised to see that you had actually been studying. “Why did you throw up? Had you eaten something previously that upset you?”
“No,” you replied. “I hadn’t eaten anything all day until Collei made lunch. I had been doing work all morning since you left.” As Tighnari observed you, he made note of the redness of your eyes. He remembered when he left this morning on his forest ranger duties, giving a hasty kiss on your cheek before he departed, hoping not to wake you up since you were still asleep. That was another thing – you’ve spent a lot of your time taking naps or just laying in bed until it was time to eat, but sometimes, you’d even skip that. More pieces started to fit together in his mind.
Before he could hit you with another round of questions to try to deduce why you had gotten sick earlier, you said something that tied it all together for him.
“I was just doing some of my work and I got overwhelmed. Before I knew it, I felt the need to vomit and thankfully-”
The rest of your statement about how you got out and away from Tighnari’s things just before you vomited didn’t matter because it suddenly made sense now. He just… he just didn’t know how to tell you because it was obvious you weren’t aware of the situation.
“I’m glad you’re feeling better,” he said, coming to sit next to you on the bed. He picked up one of the carefully made bracelets and ran his hand through it before taking it off and laying it back down. The silence was unbearable to him. “About what you said earlier, though, I’m sorry for always getting onto you for not studying. It’s really none of my business. I just know how much you want this degree and I don’t want to see you give up on it.” Maybe he could ease you into this conversation to make things easier.
You exhaled a tired sigh. “It’s okay. I know I should study more. I just… don’t always feel like it and when I do go to study, like today, I just get so… sick. I threw up last week, too, in Pardis Dhyai. I don’t know what’s going on, to be honest.”
“Do you think that maybe you’re just burnt out?”
Your eyes widened a bit, and you peered up at him as he looked at you, his eyes full of concern and worry. You quickly looked away, your fingers fumbling with the flower bracelet in your hand. “No. How could I be burnt out when I love what I do?”
“I understand thinking that, but (Y/N), it’s more common than you’d think.” He shifted his position to be a bit closer and he gently grabbed one your hands to still your fidgeting. “You’ve worked so hard for so long, it’s normal for this to happen.”
“Yeah, but I always take breaks,” you retorted. “I shouldn’t be burnt out already. Not like this.”
His thumb rubbed gentle, loving circles into the back of your palm. “Even before you joined the Academiya, you were working on what your thesis would be and what research you would do. You’ve put in so much time for so long.” He paused, watching a tear drop from the corner of your eye. “You haven’t mentioned your thesis in a while, either.”
“They keep getting rejected,” you hiccupped, pulling your hand away from his. You turned away, feeling a sense of shame because of the position you were in. You pulled your knees up to your chest and let out a shaky breath, feeling the sick, overwhelmed feeling from earlier settle into your stomach again. “I keep trying to come up with something new and interesting, but it’s never enough. I want to keep trying because I love this – I love the research, the new things I discover, the people and places. But ever since my third thesis was rejected, I just felt… I just felt sick every time I think of doing field work.”
Tighnari didn’t know how best to comfort you in this situation. If it was him, he would just want to be left alone to regain his composure, but he knew you didn’t function like that. He moved his position to sit beside you once again and he placed an arm around your waist to pull you toward him. “It’s not uncommon to get your thesis rejected, y/n, so don’t let that discourage you-”
“But it keeps happening,” you cried, your tears dropping onto his clothes. “I don’t feel like this dream of mine is even meant for me anymore. Maybe I’m not cut out-”
“Hey, hey,” Tighnari interrupted you, his voice firm. “Don’t even begin to think like that, because it’s not true. Some of the smartest people out there have gotten multiple theses rejected. That doesn’t mean they weren’t capable of achieving what they wanted. It just means it took a little extra time. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But there is something wrong with you discrediting yourself and your abilities, because you are more than capable of reaching your goals and everyone around you can see that.”
“I’m just worried that if I don’t achieve this, I’ll let you and everyone else down,” you murmured.
“You could never let me down,” he said, sincerity clear in his words. Your lips quivered and you felt more tears surface as you turned to hug your boyfriend. Those were some of the exact words you needed to hear at the moment, and you would most likely need to him say them again at a later time, but right now was all you needed to feel a spot of hope begin to grow inside you. Once he was sure your cries had calmed down enough for you to listen to him again, Tighnari planted a kiss on the top of your head before he pulled back to give you another on your nose. “And you know I’m always here to help you, no matter what it is. I’m rooting for you, Collei is rooting for you, and I’m sure the other forest watchers are, too. We all know that you’re capable of accomplishing this, now you just have to believe in yourself.”

Notes: As Diluc’s spouse, you find joy in doing things with him, especially when the activity is something he enjoys, too. Too bad you can’t even remember the rules of chess, no matter how hard you try. But that’s okay, because Diluc will change the rules of the game, just for you.
Side Note: If there are any gendered terms in this, let me know and I’ll change it asap! I originally had it written as a female reader, but I decided to change it very last minute, so let me know if there’s anything I need to change!!
It was a rainy day in Mondstadt. It wasn’t just a light rain, either. Thunder cracked and lightning flashed across the sky all day long, and the dark clouds hanging above didn’t seem like they were going away any time soon. While Diluc was in his office for the majority of the dreary morning and early afternoon, you were sitting in front of the fireplace reading a book. A little after noon, though, you shut your book with a soft snap! Dismayed at the novel’s ending, you stood and made your way to your husband’s office before gently raking your knuckles across the wood of the door. Once you heard him grant you permission to enter, you opened the door, only to hear him sigh.
“I thought I told you that you don’t need to knock,” he said, placing down his pen and turning all his attention on you.
“Force of habit,” you excused, coming up to his desk. You leaned over and gave him a kiss, another habit you had formed whenever you found him doing work.
“So, what are you doing on this rainy day? Did you finish your book?” Diluc remembered watching you scan your overfilled bookshelf for something to read before you finally randomly picked a book and decided that would be your read for the day.
“Yeah, but it wasn’t that good,” you pouted. “I thought that since I finished my book and you’ve been working for so long, I would challenge you to a game of chess.”
You grinned at the way Diluc seemed to perk up, a soft smile coming to his face. “Oh? I thought you disliked the game,” he teased, remembering that last time you played. Diluc kept beating you, one game after another, and he would’ve just let you win every game after your first loss, but you were just so cute when you were flustered – how your pout wouldn’t leave your face as you tried to determine which move would stump your husband or how you’d try to slap his hand away from taking your pieces in retaliation. He would admit that he wasn’t easy on you that you day, but maybe you could see it all from his perspective, you wouldn’t blame him.
“Well, it’s not fun to lose every time,” you scoffed. “But I enjoy playing with you.” As if you even had to beg him to play (which, obviously you didn’t), you batted your eyelashes at him pleadingly.
“I’m honored to hear such a statement,” your husband grinned, standing from his desk.
††
Diluc had to contain his laughter, but unfortunately you kept noticing his amused smile as he watched you ponder which move you should make. “Did I make a bad move?” you asked, worried, but the pryo user just shook his head.
“No, no,” he reassured, not wanting to break it to you that you were playing the whole game wrong. If it was any other person, Diluc would’ve just walked away from the table, not wanting to waste his time with someone who didn’t even know the game. But with you, he was amused at how diligently you were playing, even though you had obviously forgotten all the rules. You’d move a piece the correct number of spaces, but in the wrong direction, or vice versa. You’d pick up one piece and he could tell you were confused what to do with it, the way your brows would furrow and you’d bite your lip before doing something completely incorrect. When your move was done, you’d look up expectantly at Diluc, waiting for his turn. Since Diluc always let you make your move first, he just followed your lead, even if it felt wrong.
“You’re not letting me win, are you?” you asked, taking Diluc’s final piece from the board. This was the third game you two had played, and it was your third win. There was no way you were winning against someone who knew the game forward and backward.
“Not at all,” he responded, lying straight through his teeth. Even playing with your rules, that would change every now and then, he could still muster out a win, but he didn’t want to ruin your fun. Your little grin as you’d take his last piece remaining on the board, giggling as you teased Diluc for letting such a bad player win made it all worth it. “You’re just getting better at the game, can’t you tell?”
You waved a hand in the air, a triumphant grin on your face. “You flatter me!” And after a few more games, which you won, you decided that you’d save Diluc the embarrassment and stop playing for the day. You remained sitting, moving the pieces back to their starting positions so they’d be ready the next day ruined by thunderstorms. Diluc moved around to your side and stood behind you, placing his hands on your shoulders and leaning in.
“You know,” he started, his mouth close to your ear as he spoke. He leaned forward and grabbed a pawn from your side. “This piece is supposed to move this direction.” You watched as he moved it in a direction completely different from the one you had been moving it. You realized your mistake and your mouth formed a small “o” as a blush crept up on your cheeks. Diluc turned to leave, making his way back to his office and you just stared at the board shocked.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” you asked loud enough for him to hear you as he walked away. “That’s so embarrassing,” you added, a little quieter.
“I can’t win all the time,” was all your husband said in response, the smile never leaving his face. Although next time you two played, it would be fair with the right rules. Not that he was a stickler for that sort of thing, but you couldn’t win all the time, either.

bitter goodbyes, and joyful hellos - kaedehara kazuha
Pairing: Boyfriend!Kazuha x Girlfriend!Reader
Genre: Angst and then fluff
Word Count: 1.3k
Notes: Kazuha has to leave Inazuma, but before he leaves he makes sure to tell you goodbye. You can’t convince him to let you go with him, so you depart, and as time goes on, you figure that he’s forgotten all about you. Only he hasn’t, and you’re the first person he wants to see upon his return to the Electro Archon’s land. There’s no like set timing in Genshin lmao so sorry if my timing seems off from the storyline in this. I’m just going with it lol. Also, my story may be off from Genshin’s story anyways, my bad besties. It’s been a while since I did these quests.
“Y/n.”
“Y/n, wake up.”
“C’mon, y/n, wake up.”
A sigh. “Y/n, please.”
You crack your eyes open and feel the grip someone has on your shoulders loosen. “Y/n,” the voice repeats and your eyes move to see the familiar face of your boyfriend, gazing at you with an unreadable expression.
“Kazuha,” you call back, rubbing your eyes to see clearly as you sit up. “Where were you? I was worried sick about you. Actually, you can tell in the morn-”
“I’m leaving,” he said gently, causing you to stop just as the thunder outside crashed and rattled the house around you.
“H-huh?” you whispered. You heard someone outside talking and you looked at Kazuha, confused. “What’s going on? Why are you leaving? Why now?”
“I’ve told Gorou to explain everything I can’t,” he says. His voice is troubled but calming. As you continue to wake up, you notice how dark and stormy it is outside. It represented how you felt at the moment – in the dark and your mind clouded over in worry and thought. “But I wanted to see you before I left. I wanted to tell you bye.”
You felt tears prick your eyes. Was this forever? “Kazuha, please just explain what’s going on-”
“There’s been… something has happened, and I can’t stay here anymore. I have to leave while I can.” He leaned forward and enveloped you in a soft hug. You were going to miss these. “I love you, and I’ll miss you. But I need to leave while the opportunity is here.” He stood and walked to the door with you hot on his heels.
“I can go with you!” you pleaded, tears streaming down your face. “Please, Kazuha, don’t leave me like this.”
He continued to walk to your front door, his white ponytail swaying with his steps. “You need to stay here. It’s safer for you.”
“Kazuha!” you exclaimed, not knowing what to say any more than just stay, stay, stay. He reached the door and he turned to you before he opened it.
“I’ll be back another time,” he said, looking at your tearful eyes. His red ones glanced over your figure, taking in your sight one last time. “You have my word, y/n.”
You sniffled, your hands clutched in front of you tightly. Lightning struck and the room was filled with a white light. Kazuha moved and you closed your eyes, not wanting to see him leave, only to feel a pair of lips meet yours. The kiss was longer, not rushed despite how hurried he seemed, and passionate, a way to seal his promise. He will be back. Maybe not soon, but he will.
When you opened your eyes, he was gone. The front door was shut, but the feeling of his hands on your hips lingered and your lips tingled and his last “I love you” as he parted from you echoed loudly in your ears. It still felt like he was here, but he was gone.
Kazuha was gone.
††
It’s been ages since Kazuha left you. You sigh as you tear another month off the calendar. Almost three years. You swallow, before throwing the sheet of paper away and returning to the meal you had been cooking.
Gorou did fill you in on the situation. From Kazuha’s best friend being slain by the Raiden Shogun to Beidou offering Kazuha a chance to flee Inazuma since he became a wanted fugitive. For months, you’d waste your days in Ritou, hoping to see him jump off a boat and shout your name from the docks. But with the Sakuko Decree in place, you knew that wasn’t going to happen as easily as it should. And as time ticked on, you thought maybe he wasn’t going to return at all.
“He’s forgotten all about me,” you murmured to yourself as you stared at the water in front of you. Sitting at the water’s edge in Ritou filled you with hope at first, but the more time passes, the more you’re filled with dread instead. You couldn’t write him a letter since you didn’t know where he went. You thought maybe you’d get one from him, but you never did, leaving an empty feeling in your stomach as you’d walk back home like a ghost searching for their resting place.
You weren’t even excited when you heard the Sakuko Decree was lifted. You just knew he wasn’t ever coming back. He was gone for good, leaving you behind with empty promises.
He had been gone before, sure. But those times were different. He’d tell you in advance when he was leaving, have special time with you before he did – he never just got up and left. That means he really had to leave. And the more you thought about it, the more you understood his reason for leaving. But it didn’t satisfy the longing within you. It just made you more aware of the situation – how he really did have to leave, but how difficult it would be for him to come back.
††
It was spring. You had your windows open to let the crisp breeze flow through your home. You were cleaning, sweeping dirt off the floors, dusting the shelves – anything you could to take out the old and dead of winter to bring in the new and life of spring. After a hard day of work, you decided to head to Ritou to watch the sunset before you went back for dinner. An unnecessary trip, but sometimes the crisp, ocean air gave you a better environment for thinking. It’d fill your lungs with new air that refreshed you, sucking out the old that was stagnant and dirty. Tonight, you sat on the docks, your legs dangling off the side as your toes barely grazed the water below. When you arrived, you saw a ship was in and you were glad Ritou was back in business. No thought of Kazuha crossed your mind. You wouldn’t let it.
“It’s a perfect night to watch the sunset,” a voice said behind you. There was a multitude of footsteps behind you, either people leaving or boarding the boat that was here.
You hummed. “Yeah,” you murmured, seeing a pair of legs appear beside you in the corner of your eyes.
“Waiting for someone?” the voice asked. You nodded, turning a bit solemn. You heard the person beside you hum in thought. “You know, when I was off at sea, I’d look at the sky at night and remind myself that the person waiting here for me was looking at the same sky I was. And, despite being many, many miles away from her, I felt close to her.”
You went to agree but the words in your throat were choked and stumbled out in weird mutters as you picked your head up to view the stranger beside you. You knew there was no other person in the world to spurt some poetic nonsense like that other than the one you had been waiting for this whole time. “K-Kazuha?”
His smile was still the same as he peered down at you. Everything about him was the same: same hair, same eyes, and to your delight once he sat down beside you, same kiss, though the first one was a bit needier, hungrier for your touch that he had gone so long without.
“I thought…”
“Thought what?” he echoed, leaning in to steal another kiss.
“I thought you had forgotten about me,” you said as you began to tear up, ashamed you had ever thought that.
Kazuha laughed, the same laugh he had those years ago. “Darling, I thought you might have forgotten about me. That is, until I saw you walk up and sit here. And then I knew. I knew you had been waiting for me to come back this whole time, just as I.”
You were speechless. After all this time, he’s finally back. Kazuha is finally back. Images of his departure flittered through your brain, and you grabbed his hands. “Are you leaving again soon? Please-”
Kazuha kissed your hands that held his. “I won’t be leaving for a long time, love. How could I leave you when I just got you back, hm?”
You sighed, giving him a dreamy-eyed gaze with a grin that wouldn’t leave your face. “Well, I guess you’re lucky I just cleaned the house, then.”

when you leave - diluc
Pairing: Husband!Diluc x Wife!Reader
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 1.1k
Notes: Diluc can’t help that he worries when you’ll leave him, since everyone else has in his life. His only concern is how you’ll leave. Spoilers for Diluc’s backstory! Warning: mentions of death and blood.
It was late. The clock in the corner of the room told him it was almost one in the morning, but Diluc couldn’t sleep. Not with so many thoughts running wild in his mind.
After losing so many people he cared for in his life, he wondered when the next person would leave. When he turned eighteen, he lost his father and through that, he lost the Knights of Favonius. That might have been more of his decision, but ultimately he lost that connection and friends he had due to the negligence of the people who swore to protect Mondstadt. And not long after, he lost his brother, Kaeya, not in the same way as his father, since Diluc can never see his father again. But the two don’t share glances when they pass each other anymore, or confide in each other like they used to. Diluc had to watch, one by one, the friends and family he had leave him. Now, there seemed to be one more person left – you.
Diluc wondered how you’d leave him. Maybe he’d wake up in the morning and you’d be gone, the bed sheets in the shape of you, but without you there. He’d just assume you left early on a commission and would go all day unsuspecting, until he came home later that night. You wouldn’t be back for dinner, leaving your spot at the table empty. Diluc would begin to worry, but he’d tell himself that you were just busy. Maybe you were caught up in something and you were on your way home now, it just took a little longer than usual. He’d stay up all night, waiting for you to return, but you never came. He’d go to Mondstadt City in the morning and the answer he didn’t want to hear would be circulating around everyone he passed. You left him for Liyue, never to return.
Or, maybe, he’d be in his study and you’d walk in, looking a bit upset to say the least. Diluc would ask what was wrong, why do you look so sad? And you’d respond by placing your wedding ring on his desk in front of him. You couldn’t stay with him anymore. He was too closed off emotionally, you couldn’t deal with his past or his long, inconsistent hours – you didn’t want to be with him anymore, and that was that. You would leave, turning your back to him and walking out of his office – out of his life – without giving him the chance to ask you to stay or tell you how much he enjoyed your presence in his life, or that he’d always love you, no matter what.
Perhaps you didn’t leave him physically, though. Maybe you’d leave him… emotionally. After you two would have been together for a while, many years of marriage behind you and in front of you, Diluc would notice you weren’t exactly the same anymore. The shine in your eyes would be gone. You wouldn’t be as excited to see him in the evenings anymore. You’d only respond to him if he talked first, you’d eat your dinner quickly before Diluc could ask you how your day was, and your “stay safe and I love you” remarks as he left became nonexistent. You were no longer in the marriage – emotionally. You were with him physically, but you acted as if it pained you to talk to him. Honestly, you neglected him now. You closed yourself off from him, only coming back into his life when he talked to you, or when he needed you.
On the flip side, perhaps you wouldn’t leave him expectedly. Not that any of the other ways were expected, but death certainly wasn’t. Maybe you’d leave on a commission and your return would never come. Diluc would go out searching for you, only to find your body splayed out on the ground, a pool of blood around you. He’d rush to your side, flinging himself on the ground beside you and grabbing you, hoping that what he was seeing wasn’t real. You’d still be hanging onto life when he got to you, but your time was dwindling quickly – very quickly. Diluc didn’t know if he’d rather live through watching you die to a wound that was too far gone or stumble across your already lifeless corpse. You could barely speak and as you exhaled, droplets of blood splattered around your mouth and dusty earth below you. All he could do was stay with you and tell you that he loved you as he watched you writhe in pain in his lap before you became sickeningly still. It reminded him of another death in his life, and Diluc felt his world spin around and around, leaving him dizzy and without air.
But maybe, you would die peacefully. Maybe Diluc would wake up in the morning and find you in the bed beside him, sleeping peacefully. He’d reach over to touch you, to bring you closer to him so he could hold you a few more minutes before he had to get up. Only when his fingertips touched yours, he recoiled. You were cold – too cold. It was early in the morning and Diluc wasn’t thinking straight, but he knew something was wrong. He’d get up and get Adelinde, asking her to come check on you because she always knew when someone was sick and she’d know exactly what was wrong with you. The head maid would be expecting you to be shivering under the blankets, just down with a common cold. What she didn’t expect was to walk in and immediately know something terrible had happened. The teacup she’d been holding, hoping to give you when you woke up, fell from her hands and shattered in a billion pieces on the ground, much like Diluc’s life was around him. Adelinde drew in a shaky breath, turning to tell her master the worst, but seeing his panic-stricken face as he stood in the corner, his eyes not daring to leave your lifeless expression, she couldn’t help but remember what had happened on his eighteenth birthday. She knew he knew that you were gone, just like everyone else in his life.
Diluc looked at the clock and exhaled a sigh when he saw it was close to two now, and he should be getting some shut-eye soon. He went to move, but the body sleeping next to him stirred. You rolled over and placed your head on his chest in your sleep, restricting Diluc from any further movement since he wouldn’t dare disturb you. He decided that for right now, he’d just relish in having you here with him, right now, and not worry about what the future might hold for him. All that he needed was right here, beside him, and he’d take joy in knowing that you were with him now.
