Wilderness: The Secret of Grist Ridge
Taking its name from the its centuries old owner, the rolling highlands known as the Domain of Daldivain still bears the scars from when it was vast salve farm that fed the armies and granaries of the old empire. Since the empire's fall the people of the domain have maintained small settlements and scattered villages, herding over the the valleys and rises their debt-bound ancestors once toiled to cultivate.
All is not as peaceful as the picturesque vistas of the domain would suggest; cloud drakes, once a rarity and folkish sign of good fortune have become invasive in the region, beginning to prey on livestock and even lone travellers as their numbers swell.
After having several of their homesteads savaged by the beasts, one of the villages has sent for the party: The majority of its residents including the majority of its elders want the party to hunt the beasts back to their lair, but their wisewoman claims to have had a vision that points them to Grist Ridge, the old ruins that lay at the heart of the old autarch's domain. Most have no idea what the mushroom addled crone is talking about, but there is some rumour of treasure in the old mill that may make it worth checking out.
Adventure Hooks:
Early in their journey our heroes encounter a band of warriors led by Haltri Drakesbane, a woman who sees herself as the protector and future leader of the domain's people. Already having proven herself by slaying the beasts that preyed upon her kinsmen's land and several other villages, she's more than happy to ally with the party and split the glory if it means driving the drakes out for good. Her offer is not without caveat: Haltri hopes to leverage strength of arms into a unifying authority over the scattered peoples of the domain, and her detractors (including the village elders who sought the party out) fear what her ambitions may lead to if she goes unchallenged.
Feeling an inexplicable desire to wander, the journymage Enilo (along with his fluffy familiar, Cloudchaser) has sought out the ruins at Grist Ridge, spending days exploring and journaling about his experience. Enilo doesn't know it yet, but he's been called by the goddess of sky and enlightenment to receive a revelation that may change the future of the domain, provided the party's willing to have him tag along during their exploration and later defend him when Haltri shows up sometime midway through the delve to take the ruins for herself.
Though a number of the usual dungeon denizens have made their home in Grist Ridge, there is something malevolent skulking around its deepest reaches, filling the tunnels between the old windmills with the echo of scraping chains and a distant grinding sound that unsettles to the bone. It leaves handfulls of corroded coins from the old autarchy in places where others may find them. The locals know not to touch these, as it seems accepting the gifts of the lurking horror means inviting it to follow you home.
Background: One of many such sites left over after the fall of the old Autarchy, the ruins today known as Grist Ridge once surveyed a vast domain of slave farms owned by one of the old empire's richest men, Lord Daldivian, who's mark on the region endures even centuries after his death.
The old lord bought up the debts of hundreds and dragged them off to work in his fields, grinding them down much in the same way his mills ground down the grain they cultivated. Because he didn't need to pay his workers he was able to sell grain for less, bankrupting score upon score of the region's old farming families and creating people desperate enough to sell either their ancestral land (expanding Daldivain's domain) or themselves into bond slavery for fear of starvation, swelling his workforce from hundreds to thousands.
Daldivane was of course using lives as grist for his ambition long before the first mill was built: The region that came to be his was originally open wilderness along the Autarchy's border inhabited by worshipers of the goddess Yithini, who the old empire considered heathen and thus worthy of extermination. Lord Daldivane used his in with the imperial military to raze their homes and shrines, sowing his first fields with meal ground from their bones. He also used this military connection to hunt the endemic species of drake near to extinction, both because the beasts were sacred to Yithini and because they threatened to impede his expansion.
Further Adventures:
Enilo's observations of the region and the ruins (built on the space of Yithini's demolished temple) will eventually lead him to a series of revelations: The drakes aren't invasive, they are merely returning to their natural population levels after being culled. The environment is healing because of the return of its natural predator. There were people who lived in the domain before who's existence and subsequent elimination Daldivane concealed, who lived in harmony with the drakes through their worship of the now forgotten sky goddess. Unexpectedly finding himself a prophet, Enilo will return to the people of the domain and begin expounding on this secret history, reawakening the worship of Yithini in what was once her sacred land and sparing the people from further clashes with their draconic neighbours.
Haltri does indeed have ambition, taking the exactly wrong lessons from the stories of Daldivane she imagines herself as a new, kinder, autarch, seeking to reclaim the mills of Grist Ridge and rebuild the economic engine that made the old lord one of the richest men in the known world. This will of course require the denizens to be put to work in the fields once again, but in her opinion its the least they can do to repay her for driving the drakes away and keeping them safe. Its up to the party to uncover these ambitions, or perhaps look aside for the sake of their new, increasingly powerful ally.
The thing stalking the foundations of Grist Ridge is a demon born of Daldivane's pittiless greed and the sorrow of those he enslaved. Stalking around the lowest reaches of the ruins and emerging only at night, it resembles a man dressed in tattered finery of the old autarchy with his legs fettered together and his arms bound to a yoke. Where its face should be there is only a cracked millstone, grinding forever and ever over its bleeding and lipless lower jaw. Most disturbingly of all It hungers for bones: placing severed limbs or whatever stray mice it can catch in its mouth and grinding them to powder, sometime after its meal coughing up bloody autarchy coins the way an owl might a pellet. Though it does not speak or perhaps even really THINK the demon of Grist Ridge believes in fair commerce, as any who feed it are due a compensatory amount of treasure just as anyone who takes from its offerings owes it in some way.

Are request still open and if they are can you make a Klaus Mikaelson one shot the girl is Tyler Lockwood sister and she hates Klaus so she rejects him as her mate but at the end she accepts him so like fluff at the end
Tumblr media
What are you doing to me?
Finding out your mated to the all powerful original hybrid who ruined your brothers like and forced him to become half vampire while also terrorising your childhood friends and what not isn’t exactly at the top of my bucket list.
Him being a willing participant when it came to the whole ‘soulmate’ arrangement was also not meant to be in the cards.
When I realised we were mates I was 99% sure he would immediately reject me as a mate. As strong as a soulmate makes you, it will also always be your greatest weakness. I would be able to kill him far easier than anyone else and I was certain he would want to kill me first.
So him leaving me expensive gifts was…unexpected to say the least.
Detailed drawings of wolves and the full moon in the sky with a poem hand written on the back had my heart fluttering in ways that I should not have enjoyed.
But he had destroyed my brothers and the people I consider my family’s lives.
And so, despite the utter agony I was inflicting on both him and myself, I rejected him as my mate.
It’s a rare thing for wolves to reject their one, the side affects are awful in a way to force your mind into reconsidering.
The crippling pain was emotionally tormenting and physically exhausting. After the initial rejection I was barely able to leave my bed, eat, drink, I barely spoke a word and each time I fell asleep I was haunted by a similar image of Klaus.
Damon had messaged me letting me know Klaus had been out of sight for nearly 3 weeks after.
The pain lingered, never truly gone but it had dimmed. Though a sharp pain would shoot through me when he was too close, when the bond knew I was purposely ignoring him, and i could always see him wince at the same time.
The few times I didn’t shove him away, well I felt much better. He brought peace to my wolfs inner battle between soulmate and family because in reality I knew that he was both. I was just too afraid to admit it fully.
Though I couldn’t help but occasionally step a tad bit closer to him, to feel the warm buzz that ran through my bloodstream.
He was a lot less subtle though.
Often, as soon as his wolf sensed mine approaching he was all over me. Hands would be rubbing up and down my arms, his lips on my neck in a desperate instinctual need to mark me. And what was worse was that my wolf was all the more compliant and for a few wonderful seconds I could indulge in the blissful sensations. My head back, hands firmly gripping his henley and moans leaving my lips, my wolf having the desire to present myself in a truly embarrassing fashion.
Though he would always push it a tad too far, a grope to my ass, his canines about to pierce my skin, and I would be pushing him away. My wolf panting as I nearly tripped over my own two feet to get away from him while ignoring the intense feeling of my heart being squeezed unpleasantly.
I always managed to just scrape past him.
Suffering alone in my room again at the recurring torture of rejecting a mate.
His continued flow of presents didn’t help either, only made me feel worse seeing effort put into paintings of me and my wolf. He hadn’t turned into a hybrid, not yet at least, he probably knew that would be my last straw and id maim him.
But I knew he had followed my wolf on the full moons, I always woke with brand new clothes beside me, lead on a cotton blanket with a pillow under head and the snapping of twigs in the distance as he walked away.
And even though I should have said absolutely not when he personally delivered an invitation to his family’s ball, with those stupid puppy dog eyes, I couldn’t bring myself to.
“Please love, just one dance and if you don’t like it…then I’ll leave you be and accept your decision” as soon as the words left his mouth, both our souls twisted in agony making my teeth grind.
“Fine, just one” I whispered and he nodded, pulling me into a quick hug to calm down both our pain. Which it did like water on a fire, entirely putting out the flames and leaving us calm and quiet.
And then the dress arrived at my door, with matching shoes and accessories and I realised I actually had to do this.
Walking into his house sent a chill down my spine, my body felt much warmer and my wolf was howling inside me.
A hand on my shoulder had me whimpering softly making an arm wrap around my waist and pull me aside to another room.
“Shh love, we don’t want the rest of the guests hearing such lovely sounds” klaus murmured into my ear and I pressed against him, a small moan leaving my lips.
“This is too much for you isn’t it my love?” He whispered, his hand tilting my head making me look up at him.
The entire house smelt like him, I had seen parts of it in the dreams of him when he was suffering from my rejection. Which now intensified my guilt, my emotions were running haywire. I was in his home; I was in the wolf’s den.
Without thinking my hands tugged at his blazer, pushing it down his arms before my fingers began to pull his shirt open
“Woah love, it’s alright” he muttered, his hands grabbed mine and before I could blink we were outside. The cold air cooled down my boiling skin as I panted and he stroked my hair away from my face
“There we go, it’s okay” he cooed, the back of his hand pressing against my forehead.
“I hate this stupid bond” I whispered, covering my face.
“I know love…we can have our dance another time, I’ll take you home” he uttered, his tone was sad and my heart ached again.
“Stop it” I whispered “please stop it”
“Stop what love? What’s wrong?”
“Make it stop fucking hurting! I rejected you weeks, months ago! Why does it still hurt!? What are you doing to me?” I whispered, tears filling my eyes and spilling over. I looked up at him to see him in a similar state though no tears had fallen from his eyes yet.
His hand moved to cup my face and I couldn’t help but lean into it.
“It will only stop hurting us when you truly reject me. Somewhere, inside you, you still haven’t truly given up on the idea. You either have to reject the bond once and for all or accept me” he explained softly
“I would’ve been able to reject you if you left me alone. You kept sending all those things and being so kind, you did this to me” I whimpered
“I wouldn’t have done that if I couldn’t feel your soul still reaching for mine” he uttered “I would never intentionally harm you”
I let out a quiet sob as my soul pleaded for his.
I leaned forward so my head could press against his chest, my eyes closing at the content feeling that rose in me. I could feel myself giving into the bond, our souls slowly binding together. His hand held the back of my head, I could hear his heart speeding up as mine mimicked it.
His other hand moved around my waist, pulling me to him. “Good girl” he whispered “you’ll feel so much better now” he reassured “I promise I’ll make it better now sweetheart”
He kissed my head softly, his hand rubbing my back “let the bond form my love” he encouraged.
I focused on the connection trying to relight the candle.
I could feel the second it happened, my knees growing too weak to stand making him chuckle quietly and wrap both arms around me. He lifted me so my face could be right infront of his, prompting me to lean forward and press our lips together.
Our souls entwined as we did so, endless amounts of passion poured into one act.
The silent appreciation that this was real and it was only just the beginning.

Okay but imagine The Bishops Of The Old Faith having a darling and sharing them... That's my concept idea, thank you! :D
This'll probably be short due to the amount of characters but I'd love to experiment with this :) Idk if you wanted Narinder or not, but I included some sections with him.
Yandere! Bishops of The Old Faith General Concept/Idea
Pairing: Romantic/Platonic - Harem
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Cults/Religious themes, Overprotective/Possessive behavior, Isolation, Disturbing descriptions, Blood, Sacrifices, Violence, Forced companionship/relationship.
Tumblr media
For this concept I imagine maybe you're some sort of companion/messenger for the Bishops.
Leshy is the youngest, the chaotic and egotistical ruler of Darkwood.
Heket is the sister of the Bishops, the cruel Bishop of Anura and a deity of famine.
Kallamar is the cowardly ruler of Anchordeep, always submissive to his fellow Bishops... he is a deity of pestilence.
Shamura is the wise yet surprisingly sympathetic ruler of Silk Cradle and deity of war.
Lastly there's Narinder, The One Who Waits, a sadistic/cruel deity of death who betrayed his siblings long ago... he resides in the afterlife but originally had a temple of his own.
Despite this... I HC Narinder was once loving towards his siblings and followers.
The Bishops of The Old Faith are powerful beings due to their crowns.
They are some of the last surviving gods in these realms.
You are a servant of The Old Faith, am enchanted mortal who serves the Bishops.
You have been given a prolonged lifespan... but are still vulnerable to death by other means.
As a servant, you have grown a bond with the Bishops.
Leshy often looks forward to your presence in Darkwood, welcoming you into his temple and growing gardens of flowers for you to enjoy.
As egotistical as he is, the young Bishop adores yours presence.
Heket often orders followers offer food to her so she can prepare feasts for her beloved friend and servant in Anura.
She warms up to you, as you are well loved servant of her siblings.
Kallamar shows giddy excitement when you visit Anchordeep, often supplying you medicine with Leshy's help if you need it.
Kallamar even enjoys creating trinkets from crystals to give you.
Shamura welcomes you to Silk Cradle with a fanged grin, soothing your mind with wise tales as you sit in a silk hammock.
They do hope their siblings have treated you well...
Narinder often invites you to his temple to help tend to the dead and wish them off to the afterlife.
Narinder is the one who has blessed you with a long lifespan... but he wishes he could make you fully immortal to all wounds.
Each Bishop loves you deeply, sharing you amongst themselves as you roam the regions.
Their bond with you often causes fights.
The typical sort of siblings fights... right up until Narinder's betrayal, at least.
For the most part they work together to care for their dear servant.
Followers who do not respect you are harshly punished by their Bishops.
You are a key figure in their faith, worshipped as the loyal servant of The Old Faith.
Even when Narinder betrays his siblings with differing beliefs, he tries to drag you into his prison to keep you away.
The other Bishops, his siblings, disagreed with such a thought.
Now your time with them is different.
The remaining Bishops are more cautious and overprotective of you.
While Narinder, now known as The One Who Waits, pines for you within his prison.
Leshy holds you close in the gardens of Darkwood, unable to see you due to his gouged eyes.
Heket keeps you fed, but conversation becomes harder for her.
Kallamar is now even more fearful than ever, hearing dulled due to Narinder's torment... he never wishes to let you go and begs you to stay with many crystal gifts.
Shamura is now less sane, yet still wise... always speaking in riddles and keeping you wrapped away in Silk Cradle for long periods of time.
The remaining Bishops keep you under close watch, protective yet thankful Narinder never got his claws on you.
Meanwhile Narinder plots his escape... planning to have his revenge for being imprisoned.
As lamb after lamb is slaughtered... growing fear makes the Bishops' obsession worse.
Your freedoms are restricted the longer things go on...
Soon your only relief may be Narinder's release at the hands of The Lamb.
Only then will your ties with Leshy, Heket, Kallamar, and Shamura will be lifted...
In exchange for possibly an even worse beast... changed from his previous self due to years of imprisonment.

Muse Mixup Madness—March 1, 2024
(If you don't know what this is, see this post)
welcome back to the second round of muse mixup madness! the first time around went great, and i'm hoping to see people have just as much fun with this one!
starting this month, i'm going to begin marking prompts as high or low fantasy. low fantasy prompts should be compatible with any blog canon, while high fantasy ones might inherently involve things that more grounded blogs might prefer to avoid, like eebydeebies, sapient pokémon, hybrids, or crossovers. there will always be at least one low fantasy prompt.
(note! these labels are completely arbitrary, and there are no rules in muse mixup madness. if you're a low fantasy blog and some interpretation of a high fantasy prompt appeals to you, go for it.)
with that out of the way, let's get into this month's prompts!
1. The Road Not Taken (low fantasy)
Everyone has had decisions to make in life, some of them more impactful than others. With this prompt, you'll be looking into what may have happened if your muse chose to pursue a different path in life from the one they did.
2. Rags to Riches/Riches to Rags (low fantasy)
A character's socioeconomic status growing up has a huge impact on how they interact with the world and the person they become. If your character's family was richer or poorer, how would that affect them?
3. Another World (high fantasy)
If your character was a Faller originating from somewhere other than the Pokémon multiverse, where would they be from? What would they be like? If your character is already a Faller, explore who they'd be if they'd been a Pokémon character from the beginning.
(For a lower fantasy take on this one, you can remove the crossover element and focus on the effects of being or not being a more canon-compliant Faller.)
4. I've Got a Type (high-ish fantasy)
Does anyone else remember typed humans? They were a minor character trend around a year ago before they died out, and now with hybrids around they've been more or less forgotten. I liked them though, so this prompt is for an AU where your character is one of them! If they already have a type due to being a Pokémon or hybrid, give them something unconventional for their species instead.
5. Bonded Rivals (high fantasy, requires partner)
Maybe it's coincidence that your character and your partner's keep meeting, or maybe it's fate pulling them to each other with some sort of invisible (or visible) tether. But whatever the reason, and whatever the level of supernatural involvement, every time they see each other there's some level of fighting or competition involved. After a point, they do have to have built up a mutual respect through that... right?
(Or in other words, this one's a soulmate AU, but for rivalry instead of romance. You can sprinkle in any trappings of that you like, or keep it wholly mundane for a more low-fantasy take if you prefer.)
a little note on that last one—it's entirely possible it appeals to you, but you don't have anyone to do it with. if that's the case, you can make an open invitation post on your blog or use the notes of this post to coordinate.
and once again, for my records, please answer the poll! again, it's not binding, this is just so i can gauge popularity for the prompts.
(also, please reblog this post when you see it instead of just scheduling it for day of so more people have a chance to see it while there's still time to prepare)

Hi, I want to ask do you have any headcanon about how Fang date boboiboy 's element?
Oh, absolutely! Thank you for asking, be prepared in advance for a 100-page essay though >:D /j
To me, Fang and BoBoiBoy have a chill, playful dynamic with each other.
I personally like the initial direction of the Original series that BoBoiBoy and his elements are the same person, the only difference is the core personality that shapes into which element.
Galaxy is still relevant but more in terms of world-building and less about characterization is my most preferred take :>
⚡ With Halilintar:
Tumblr media
As Halilintar represents anger and Fang has a lot of pride, I feel they’re the easiest to provoke each other, either playfully or consequently leading to a fight (at the end of the day, they’d just show off their powers and act cool about it).
They’d have solo training sessions somewhere devoid of people, that’s the kind of ‘ideal’ date for them.
🌪 With Taufan:
Tumblr media
Taufan embodies the desire to be free and out with the world. Fang fought for his autonomy at the end of Season 3 Original. I feel they’d be able to empathize with each other a lot.
Taufan loves the sky and space, perhaps he’d tag along with Fang on space missions, watching the stars through the window while Fang is driving, just the two of them in the monitor room is enough for a ‘date’.
⛰ With Gempa:
Tumblr media
Fang and Gempa are very grounded in their duties, responsibility and diligence are qualities both possess.
They’d bond over midnight coffee and piles of paperwork, while jokingly telling each other that this is like a date.
It is, isn't it?
🔥 With Blaze:
Tumblr media
Whenever they find each other in the same room, Fang would know BoBoiBoy is distressed about something, and Blaze would want to spend time with him.
And spend time they do. Soccer, basketball, any physical activities,... you name it. Only that Blaze gets over-excited at times and may or may not accidentally damage something(s) and/or place(s)...
In the end, Fang just invites him out for ice cream instead.
❄ With Ais:
Tumblr media
Ais has that “don’t care” attitude that tests Fang’s patience more times than not. This BoBoiBoy handles emotions by pushing them away and Fang would call him out for that.
Yet, Fang gets overwhelmed sometimes. Ais would just silently motion Fang to join in his activity, which is to lie down and do nothing. None says a word and it can be perfectly kept that way.
🌵 With Duri:
Tumblr media
Duri wasn’t explored thoroughly in the Original Series, so I can’t exactly tell what he represents. I like to think he holds a mischievous strike though, it’s part of his childlike personality and aligns with BoBoiBoy’s whole person.
Duri would prank Fang to no end. And as annoyed as Fang is, he isn’t unfamiliar with pettiness. They’d pull all sorts of tricks until one gets tired and calls it quits. Then it’ll just be a pleasant afternoon where they tend to the garden together. That’s dating for them, I suppose.
☀️ With Solar:
Tumblr media
Goodness, they contrast each other to the core. Light and dark, contradicting yet complimenting one another. Solar is always eager to show off his wits, and Fang never goes down without a fight (when it comes to BoBoiBoy, that is).
In every library that exists, there are THEM. The library at school, in space, on another planet, etc. I imagine them going through every book, competing to see who understands the subject most.
No books could tell them how actual dating works though. Still on the right track, imma tell ya...

hi! for the blurb request for Hotch could you do something where they have to like spar against each other and hotch obviously doesn’t go 100% against reader even though she take it but he’d just feel guilty :) all fluff
No warnings just cute sparring fluff!
Tumblr media
Hotch had never known some one to hold there own quite like you. Unlike himself or Morgan you didn’t seem threatening to many, but he’d seen you kick more ass then the entire team put together.
So when you flitted into his office, the distracting scent of your shampoo and your mouth moving. Hotch struggled to pretend like he was listening rather then admiring. Lucky for him he managed to catch the tail end of your rambles “-So would you like to spar with me? As I said the others already all have training partners…”
Ah yes. The bureaus new training modules had been insisted upon by Strauss. Apparently the team needed a refresh on combat training which the team had originally all groaned at. That was until they started to make it interesting.
JJ had come up with the brilliant idea to pair off with Morgan, betting that she could kick his ass which to be truthful, Hotch didn’t doubt one bit. Then Reid and Garcia had bonded over their mutual hatred for physical activity, deciding to work together so they could spend their mandatory sessions complaining. And Rossi was easy to convince when Prentiss had murmured something along the lines of ‘I bet you don’t even have it in you to fight me old timer…’.
So that just left you. Beautifully scary you. Hotch had planned to ask you formally, maybe even invite you to coffee after your sessions and somehow ween his way into actually asking you out properly but like he always had, Aaron feared the rejection.
The idea of your usually neutrally joyful expression moulding into one of pity and uncomfortableness kept him up at night. Worst of all he knew you wouldn’t even be cruel about it, you would let him down easy, spare him the inevitable embarrassment-
“If you don’t want to Hotch it’s alright… I can ask one of the trainees too-“
“Sounds like a plan agent… does 8am work for you?”
And so here you both were. 8am on the dot at the bureaus training gym. You looked just as beautiful in sports wear as you did in your every day outfits which was frustrating. He foolishly had hoped maybe your tired appearance would lower his nerves, but who was he kidding. He’d seen you bloody and bruised on the field and still then he had wanted to kiss you.
“So… should we just head straight into it?”
Hotch simply nodded and suddenly an onslaught of all new obsessive thoughts pressed there way into his head. Should I go easy on her? What if I end up hurting her and she hates me? What if she notices I’m not trying and feels insulted?
“Helloooo earth to Hotchner? If your mind is somewhere else we can reschedule…”
“No… no not at all, my apologies… let’s just practice combat punches today… I’ll hold the mat and you can start…”
He hoped maybe the early morning meant that you hadn’t noticed the way he tripped over his words, but by the looks of the smile creeping up over your face he assumed that wasn’t the case.
You took your stance, gloves on and shoulders firm. The first two punches were measured but after that the mat received the brunt of your wrath. He managed to keep steady but just barely, you were incredibly strong. Who knew that scary look of anguish nestling it’s way between your brows could be so… sexy?
“Right you go…”
“I’m not sure we have time…”
Pouting. Godammit you were pouting.
“Hotch we’ve been here less then 15 minutes… we have the gym booked till nine…”
Dark eyes flashing to the floor, Hotch had no choice but to concede to your demands. Aaron slipped his gloves on and forced his eyes not to latch onto the extent of your thighs that had been showcased as your shorts had rode up.
Rolling his shoulders back and aiming for the mat being grasped between your hands, poo Aaron took his first swing. It was weak… admittedly on purpose. And you noticed immediately. He swung a second time hoping it wasn’t too strong, the thought of knocking you over and was far worse then being perceived as an all show no cigar kinda guy.
“Seriously? That’s all you got Hotchner? Maybe Strauss was right… if our unit chief punches like that we do need training…oh-“
Before he could even think about what he was doing Hotch’s bravado got the better of him, and he took a third swing full force. Clearly you hadn’t been prepared because the mat had been hit so hard it put your balance of kilter causing you to stumble falling on your butt with an oof.
“Oh god… y/n- uh agent I am so sorry… I- are you laughing…?”
Your giggles echoed off of the walls of the training gym and Aaron couldn’t help but let his usual furrowed brow relax at the noise. Extending his arm, Hotch pulled you to your feet disregarding the mat as he scanned your body for any signs of damage.
“I tell you what boss I take it back… that was quite the hit…”
“My apologies again I… I’m sorry…”
So stuck in his web of self pity and guilt, Hotch missed your brazen grin as you took a daring step towards him.
“I tell you what… I know a way you can make it up to me…”
“How?”
Hotch was even more stunned when you pressed a finger into his chest.
“Take me to dinner after we finish on the next case…”
His smile alone gave you the answer to that request.

Tumblr media
Trusting someone is a gamble itself, you can never know who you will face and if they can be a friend or foe. And sometimes, it’s better to not trust anyone other than yourself, because danger is always near. Danger can be both an unknown face and a friendly one.
Your brother always said you’re too kind to everyone and tend to never notice someone’s twisted game, he always repeated to not let anyone know your deepest secret or fears because you never know what they can do with that information. However, you weren’t of the same opinion, always believing that there is good in everyone. And, unbeknownst to you, that will be the cause of your downfall.
Haruchiyo never thought that his plan could work this fast, for days he spent time and energy creating the flawless plan to ruin Hanagaki Takemichi and Tachibana Naoto’s lives. And the main character of his plan is you, Hanagaki’s beloved little sister and Tachibana’s fiancée. He thought he would take weeks or even months to be able to infiltrate in your life, to gain your trust before crushing it like a worm. However, you were found to be quite a surprise, and Haruchiyo couldn’t believe it.
You did all the job for him, you let him in your life and made him aware of your deepest secrets and desires. You were a fool, how could you not sense the malice of his tone whenever he talked with you? How could you ignore how rarely he talked about himself or his family?
How could you be that clueless? Why you didn’t get suspicious when you almost met him everyday in places he didn’t belong to? Were you that dumb? Haruchiyo, however, was glad that your dumbness made him work less, and in a glimpse of days, he could brag the status of being your friend.
Something went wrong, however. Haruchiyo didn’t pick up the signals soon, he only noticed how increasing was his desire to know where you were, what were you doing, who you were with. He wanted to know more, even if it had nothing to do with his original plan. Slowly his fixation on ruining your brother and your fiancée focused only on you, now you were not just a secondary character, but the main lead, the only one who was living in his mind.
Haruchiyo was losing himself, he didn’t know himself anymore, there was no trace of the cold and sadistic serial killer, “The Mad Dog”, now replaced by a fool obsessed with his enemy’s beloved little sister.
Every day, he woke up with the constant need to check on you, he spent hours stalking you both on your socials and in person. He justified himself, saying that he only does that to make sure his plan goes on, and no problem arises, but in reality, he just wanted to be with you always. How he loathed when you went out with that fiancée of yours, how Haruchiyo wished, it was him that wrapped his arms around your shoulders, or he pecked your cheeks and blessed his eyes with your cute expressions.
You and Haruchiyo were meant to be together, it was already chosen, and no one would oppose it, not even you. And, that's why, Haruchiyo completely changed his plan, now he will save you from a fate not suited for you, and give you the real fairy tale you deserve.
However, he should first focus on destroying your bond between you, your brother and your boyfriend. And Haruchiyo already knew how.
When Haruchiyo invited to his house, to see a new movie and try new drinks he created, you accepted without hesitance, it has been ages since you could spend time with him, between work and the preparation for your wedding with Naoto, you hardily had time to breathe.
How naive you were. You should have not accepted his invite, maybe now things would have gone differently.
"And that's my new drink, it's called "Lovely obsession" and it's alcoholic free. Just as you like" Haruchiyo says smiling, his diamond scars curving alongside, and you grin in return.
"Thank you, Haru! You know me so well, maybe in another life we were besties!" you giggle and take a sip, the pinkish drink tastes of strawberries and lemon, a strange combo, but it tasted so good.
The conversation went on for an hour, as always you were telling him about the preparations for your wedding, how excited you were, how you couldn’t wait to see what Mitsuya prepared for your wedding dress. It was a luck, that you were so engrossed in your talking that you didn’t see the scowl adorning his angelic features, the hate burning in his eyes, how his whole body was tense at the mention of your fiancée.
Hot… Too hot
The dizziness was clouding your mind, you were feeling too hot and there was something wrong. A strange tingle was growing in your lower tummy, pressing your knees together, you tried to regain control, but it was just a futile attempt. You needed something to stop this desire, you needed now. You couldn’t just call Naoto, he was on his duty with your brother, you just have to satisfy by yourself, but you couldn’t do that in Haru’s house. Before you can get up, a cold hand touches your shoulder, your hues meet his turquoise ones.
“(y/n) what’s wrong? Do you need a hand?” His soft voice murmur, his words are a temptation, but could you really cheat on your future-husband?
Guilty starts eating your conscience, how could you even think about cheating Naoto? After all he did to you, it would be a slap on your relation. Maybe… If you just use Haruchiyo’s help and never see him again, it wouldn’t be considered as cheating. You would satisfy your lust and nothing will change between you and Naoto.
And those words, leaving your lips, were your downfall.
“Haru… Help me, please.”
He won, Haruchiyo won and no one will interfere, not when he had you where he wanted.
His eyes drink every detail of your body, now marked with his cum and love bites, he feels like an artist when he is done painting his masterpiece.
His fingers trace every curve of your body, trying to memorize the softness and the warmth of your body, his eyes memorizing every mole, scar or imperfection on your body.
A masterpiece, that’s what you are for him, and now you are his.
The cum oozing from your pussy is a clear sign, marked as his both inside and outside, maybe, if he was lucky, he could even get you pregnant.
His lips find themselves on your neck, leaving wet trails until he arrives at your tummy, peppering the skin with soft kisses.
“Ngh- H-Haru” Your soft moans brings him back to reality, your lustful and teary eyes staring back at his.
“Sweetcheeks, you are such a greedy baby, you always want more” - He teases as he bites your thigh, leaving another red mark - “Don’t worry, Haru will give you whatever you want.”
Moaning again, you buckle your hips, wanting to feel Haruchiyo inside you again for the nth time that night.
The initial guilt was nowhere to see now, not after he made you that good, and you had to admit that not even Naoto could make you feel like that.
However, not you didn’t care about the consequences of your actions, you just wanted Haruchiyo to fuck you rough like you want.
“Such a good girl you are, sweetcheeks.”
“Ngh-! Haru! M-More!”
Haruchiyo smirks delighted, he is impressed by how now you could only think with your pretty pussy. And he isn’t disappointed at all, he has a soft spot for cute, airhead girls~
He kisses you again, before turning towards the camera.
“Sweetcheeks, we should make another good show for your nii-chan and your idiotic fiancée.”

Leloir Park, Buenos Aires 1981 - Freddie and Ricardo Petracca
Dinner of the band at Ricardo Petracca's house after the show.
Petracca : "I remember Freddie, he was a great, great guy"
Not everyone can take a picture with a glittering artist worldwide. Ricardo Petracca (67) did it some time ago, and today he can boast of having an image no less than with Freddie Mercury, when he was 29 years old. And as if this were not enough, it is not just any, because it takes the Queen vocalist on his shoulders.
It is known that the legendary British rock band took their music to the last corner of the planet. In 1981, for example, it was the first great band to include Latin America in its tours. Many Argentines treasure in their hearts the passage of "The Queen" by the Club Vélez Sarsfield, in Capital; by Rosario, Córdoba and Mar del Plata.
Ricardo Petracca, a neighbor of Pilar for 25 years and nephew of the then president of Vélez, was one of the few people who could enjoy the stay of Queen well up close. "I did not want a normal photo, so it got on my shoulders and the photographer of the band captured the moment," he laughs.
Account that Mercury had the custom to sing the subject "We Will Rock You" raised "to caballito" of a custodian disguised of a personage of science fiction. This is how the idea came about and the moment was reflected in a photograph that is currently framed in the house of Ricardo's younger son.
As good hosts, his family invited the British group to a barbecue in his villa in Parque Leloir, in Ituzaingó. But Petracca only wanted to have a picture with the singer.
"To be honest, I was never a faithful follower of 'Queen'. I did not know them as much, I preferred to listen more to the Rolling Stones and even Latin music, "he reveals against what anyone could imagine. And he says: "One day they offered to buy me the photo, but I did not want to. It's something I keep for myself, and it transpired from one day to the next. "
The photograph shows that original moment, but the reality is that the Pilaren was with the members of the band during the 20 days of his stay in the country. That 27 of February of 1981 had to go to look for them to the Airport of Ezeiza, where hundreds of fans waited for their arrival. "There were many people willing to do anything to get close to their idols. With custody we had to invent a kind of fence to protect Freddie and make him enter the hotel, "he recalls.
"The shows in Vélez I lived on the side of the stage. During the recital, Freddie was transformed and was carried away by the adrenaline ", recognizes. The 40 thousand people who crowded the stadium vibrated to the rhythm of rock and remember that it was so powerful "the blow of the sound of the speakers that ran to the people of their place".
"I remember him as a guy, we spent hours talking about life," he admits modestly. In the course of those days, they cultivated a friendship that kept her in time with the sending of letters. "At that time my family had the largest glass company in Argentina. In the barbecue we shared, he saw one of our vitraux and commissioned one for us by letter for his house in London, "he says. Although with a hand in his heart he confesses that he doubts that the piece has reached its destination.
The photo, his anecdotes with the emblematic band and his personal bond with Mercury, make Petracca the envy of the followers of Queen. "I lived very nice moments. If he were alive, I'd love to meet him again. He was a very special character, "he says with some nostalgia

Is it possible sjm changed her mind since that interview long ago about elain and lucien healing together? I noticed that ACOWAR showed clear signs that sjm was still going for elucien and that azriel barely had any setup as a character. Yes, we got a lot of him, but he was not a prominent character in a way Lucien was. With Lucien, we learned about his heritage and a bit more of his past. We even got inside of his head. But in acofas, there was a shift. We went from Elain defending Lucien in front of Graysen and smiling at Lucien's joke to her ignoring him and avoiding him completely. Azriel also gained a lot more prominence while it feels like Lucien faded into the background in a way. This sounds silly, but the idea of sjm abandoning a perfectly good Day Court plot in favor of a forced forbidden lovers storyline between Azriel and Elain is honestly terrifying.
It's definitely possible!
But since in the same interview she spoke of Nessian ending up together and they did in fact end up together, it's also possible Elucien is endgame as she once envisioned them to be.
I do agree with you that Lucien got a whole lot of buildup in ACOWAR (even before that, his character has been prominent since book 1) and we had a lot less of him in ACOSF but there is a logical reason for that.
Lucien doesn't belong in the NC. He glanced at Elain / "I'm not needed here. I'll fight if you need me to, but..."
And though he went back to Velaris because Elain invited him at the end of ACOWAR, we find out that she's regressed in the novella and no longer engages with him so again, he's got no reason to stick around as he was really only there for her.
Even that's not a big deal because Nesta pretty much confessed her feelings for Cassian in ACOWAR then started ignoring him and got together with many other males in the novella. Elain sharing a few glances with Az and a near kiss is tame compared to what Cassian had to accept as Nesta worked through things.
But with that said, why would Lucien be prominently featured in a Nesta and Cassian book when neither of them are close to Lucien? In fact, prior to SF, Nesta was very antagonistic towards him.
A book set in the Night Court with members of the IC are going to feature.....mostly Night Court characters and members of the IC.
And yes, Az got a lot of build up in SF because he's Cassian's best friend. Is there any other male that would make sense to be as heavily featured in Cassian's book than Az? Especially when Rhys's arc is technically over?
And if you think about it....how much more buildup could Lucien have before he actually gets a book?
When you look at the the buildup Az had in the novella and SF it boils down to:
Az has a mother he visits, we're reminded that he hates the Illyrians even though he is one of them and always will be, there's more to Az than what we originally thought ("Az is different in a lot of ways"), the fact that he wants a mating bond and is struggling with feelings of low self worth, feeling guilty for the things he does, and a hinted at (but not confirmed) mating bond with Gwyn.
The buildup Lucien has had since book 1 is:
His father and brothers were responsible for the death of Jesminda and though he pretends he has, he's never forgotten what they did to her. / He's not allowed into Autumn to see his mother (and he's her favorite child). / Beron abuses his mother and his brother and once again sent his others sons out to attack Lucien while he was fleeing Spring / SJM tells us Eris is looking at Lucien with sadness and regret in ACOWAR. / The big reveal that Helion is Lucien's real father. / That Lucien is not only Helion's sole heir but is showing the dominance associated with a High Lord coming into power. / Lucien no longer has a real home to call his own, he's basically a drifter between the human lands, Spring and the NC and feels sadness over Spring not turning out the way he expected. / His friendship with Tamlin that's in limbo. His SA from Iantha that he hasn't gotten to address / A bond that snapped but has been unaccepted for two years and something that causes him actual suffering while always having to fight his instincts. / Feeling like he's "nothing".
We've got Lucien needing a home, needing to discover his heritage, needing an answer on his mating bond, needing to discover his powers, needing to reconnect with his mother and his brother, needing to restore his friendship with Tamlin, etc. The only thing left to do with Lucien is to resolve all these open ended plots for him and that can't happen until his book (it's not going to happen in a NC book).
When you add all of that into the clues SJM left for Elain belonging in Spring with her scent like Spring, with NC Black sucking the life out of her no matter how much she claimed to be part of the court, with members in the NC trying to prevent her from doing the things the offered to do, I think it's fairly clear that Elucien is on track as scheduled.

𝓐𝓝 ~ For my 6666th post, I decided to compile an Angbang appreciation post to (hopefully) spread some joy and positivity for one of my favorite ships of all time. I tried my best to present the things that I love about Angbang in a broad and open manner, so that it encompasses all sorts of takes and welcomes as many fellow Angbangers as possible.
As I will also say at the end of this: You're cordially invited and welcome to share what you love about this ship and/or add aspects I haven't mentioned in this post. Just keep it positive!
Tumblr media
Melkor. Ah Melkor, the man himself, the myth, the legend, a prime example for chaotic evil and our resident devil. Throughout the Silmarillion, as well as Tolkien's other writings, Melkor is busy hating pretty much everyone... except Mairon, it seems. He trusts him enough to let him run entire fortresses and taught him a lot of dark magic, which, as mundane as it may seem, is a lot more productive and friendly than Melkor has been to other people, including those who serve him. I - and I think many other Angbang shippers as well - love the idea that there is this one person in the world whom he actually likes and appreciates.
Mairon. The eponymous Lord of the Rings and general nuisance, enough to make Eru himself intervene twice, the Deceiver, professional pretty boy and peerless perfectionist. No other Maia has come close to causing as much drama, and something tells me Melkor will be proud once he hears about the Second and Third Age shenanigans. Mairon seems to hate everyone as well... except Melkor, with whom you could argue he might be a little obsessed. He's both frightening and hilarious and, for better or for worse, an icon both in-universe and outside.
Great ship name. Angbang is both a handy and memorable ship name and an amazing pun. It sure is a funny coincidence that my (to date) favorite ship all time also has my (maybe forever) favorite ship name of all time. And if that wasn't enough: If you take Morgoth x Sauron as the basis, their ship name is Moron which... yeah. No explanation needed. The stars aligned with this one.
Opposites attract. There are fundamental differences between Melkor and Mairon as characters, such as the chaos vs. order dynamic (as @maironite also pointed out), their goals - Melkor wanted to destroy while Mairon was more interested in getting things to run smoothly, though both were keen on enforcing their will - and their approach to handling situations they find themselves in - whereas Melkor is often impulsive, Mairon is more patient and calculating. You can also create an ice vs. fire dynamic, though they share the fire element (Melkor used to be the Vala of Fire and Ice and is still seen using these two elements a lot). It gives them some additional friction and spice to work with.
Similarities. Aside from their differences creating chemistry, Melkor and Mairon also share a few similarities and things they can bond over to balance whatever conflicts might arise. Both seem dissatisfied with the plans of Eru and the Valar, want to create whatever they wish to create without rules being imposed on them, have a questionable moral compass at best, like screwing people over and have obsessive tendencies (more on that later). I like to think that they can nerd out about about science and magic for hours, which likely became the foundation of their relationship in the first place, and that they also engaged in deep and challenging conversations that satisfied both of them in ways other conversation partners hadn't.
The Fall. We love fallen angels and a good corruption arc. Mairon's origins as a respected member of Aulë's household - who is still remembered for his skill despite his dark deeds - and moments where he could have potentially been redeemed are documented in the Silmarillion and the subject of many interesting discussions and fanworks. However, while less pronounced and presented as far less likely in the narrative, the same applies to Melkor. Even he started out as "good" and his motives, at least early on, are also understandable: He was dissatisfied with his inability to create freely and completely on his own. You could even say he's a bit of a failed artist which... is painfully relatable. As much pain and grief as both of them have caused, it's also tragic that they couldn't overcome their pride and choose a better path, for the sake of others as well as their own, and that Melkor ended up dragging Mairon down with him; both of them would have had the ability to do truly great things if this hadn't happened.
Philosophical aspects. To read Melkor and Mairon as a couple and their fates as a tragic love story creates interesting parallels with other star-crossed lovers in Tolkien's legendarium and raises fascinating philosophical questions. Can evil love? Can love be evil? Could love have been their road to redemption or was it - at least on Mairon's part - his doom? If I had to summarize my personal take on this, I would say that Melkor unwillingly corrupted love by genuinely being in love.
If you'd like to read a (more concise) take on this aspect which also touches on some other things mentioned in this post, I highly recommend this thread by @naruthandir.
There are just so many things you can read into this relationship and themes to explore, which I appreciate so much. It never gets boring and I always find new ideas to have fun with.
Power dynamics. Now, let me preface this by saying that I'm aware that some of you prefer it one way, some of you prefer it the other way, some see the Vala/Maia power imbalance as inherently unhealthy and like to take that as a central theme of their relationship and some prefer to interpret these two has having a fairly equal relationship. However, I'm not here to debate which take is "right" or "better", nor do I have any interest to. I think that, whichever way you choose, it's an interesting concept to play around with. Did you know that Estë used to be a Maia? I honestly think it would be cool if she still was, just to bridge the divide between Valar and Maiar a bit more. Nevertheless, I think we can all agree that especially Melkor isn't interested in what other Valar think is proper or appropriate and that Mairon, ambitious as he is, probably also likes having a Valarin partner/spouse. It's also interesting as a contrast to Melkor's usual arrogance and thinking that he's above everyone, and if you need something to prove that he wouldn't categorically say no to being with a Maia, look no further than his attempt at (forcibly) marrying Arien in other versions of the story.
Kink. Well, we've talked about power dynamics already, so let's not beat around the bush. We have some hot evil gay sex on our hands here. Super freaky too, if that's your thing. This ship is, in my opinion, excellent for BDSM and was what allowed me to discover and enjoy kink for the first time (though, again, none of this is a must if you prefer other takes). You can play with their existing power dynamic, subvert it, have them live out their sadistic urges, have them do elaborate roleplays, make use of all the creepiness and weirdness of the Ainur, particularly evil ones... they even have a convenient dungeon in their basement! There's so much good and sexy Angbang smut out there and I'd like to take a quick moment to thank everyone who wrote these fics that inspired and entertained me for years - and will do so for years to come.
Queerness. There are a lot of gay ships in the Tolkien fandom and fandom in general, but I still feel like it's important to mention this aspect. In fact, if you'd allow me to share something personal: Angbang was my first contact with queer content and, while this may seem strange considering that I am a woman, it also started my journey to discover my own queerness and I will forever appreciate that (I suppose it was "femboy" Mairon in particular alongside Melkor being a raging bisexual disaster - just my headcanon, not trying to push this on anyone - that finally allowed me to break out of compulsive heterosexuality and heteronormativity). I don't know if anyone had similar experiences with Angbang, but, well, I thought if I'm making an Angbang appreciation post, this might just be the time to include it.
Obsession. Melkor is obsessed with all things bright and beautiful, and this might very well include Mairon. As far as I'm aware, him being a fire spirit like Arien and the Balrogs are is fanon, but he's at the very least associated with fire in canon (on that note: kudos to whoever came up with the "little flame" nickname, it's so cute). Meanwhile, Mairon loves power and, as mentioned above, is obsessed with Melkor and his legacy enough to not only continue what they started, but also create a religion all about him. I like to think that both of them are also very jealous, which certainly ended up being the doom of a few innocent bystanders. They're just angry and evil and insane together and it's endlessly entertaining to me.
Tolkien's accidental "evidence". This could probably be its own post (which I might do in the future, though I'd do some additional research for it), and I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to "prove" to you that Angbang is canon or anything like that, I just find it funny when canon gives me tidbits that I can use for my "agenda". First of all, there's the infamous seduction line that has singlehandedly spawned countless fanfics and most likely raised a few eyebrows:
"In the beginning of Arda Melkor seduced [Mairon] to his allegiance (...)" The Silmarillion
One of my personal favorites is also the fact that, in the Lay of Leithian, Mairon starts ranting about how cool Melkor is - after only briefly mentioning Lúthien - and gets mad at Beren and the others for not stanning his boyfriend master hard enough. To make sure everyone knows exactly how awesome Melkor is, he later made sure people pray to him and perform human sacrifices which, since even any positive effects it might have couldn't reach Melkor in the Void, was apparently just for shits and giggles and to troll some mortals. Now that is what I call commitment! There's also Melkor's trust in Mairon and his fire spirit kink, but I've mentioned that already.
Aesthetics. Spiky black armor is incredibly sexy. Then we have peak hell and hellfire aesthetics. We have crowns and rings. We have fallen angels and fire and ice, as mentioned above. And we have two incredibly hot (literally) angels kissing. You could make them fuck in an erupting volcano. It's just... yes.
To conclude: We love villains, we love dark lords, evil is fun!
What I discussed in this post is pretty much just everything I could think of, with my friends and fellow shippers giving me a few additional keywords to mention, so there's definitely more. I hope this post made some of you appreciate this ship as well, maybe sparked or rekindled some love for it, and I invite you to add on and/or share what you love about Angbang. However: I'm going to have to politely and respectfully ask you to remember that this is an appreciation and positivity post, so I don't want to see any negativity, complaints about the way other people enjoy this ship differently or shade. Time and place. Alright? Alright.
Love you!
"Whom do ye serve, Light or Mirk? Who is the maker of mightiest work? Who is the king of earthly kings, the greatest giver of gold and rings? Who is the master of the wide earth? Who despoiled them of their mirth, the vain Valar? Repeat your vows, Orcs of Bauglir! Do not bend your brows. Death to light, to law, to love; cursed be moon and stars above; may darkness everlasting old that waits outside in surges cold drown Manwë, Varda and the sun; may all is hatred be begun and all in evil ended be in the moaning of the endless Sea!" Lay of Leithian, Canto VIII

Did I spy Alyadrin headcanons in your tags? 👀👀 have any more bouncing around that brain of yours?
you did 👀 it’s twitter canon that alya did think chat noir is cute in season 1 but alya seems to have less than than zero interest in adrien as anything other than the ken to marinette’s barbie. she doesn’t dislike him but he’s really just kinda this prop in marinette’s grand love story, especially in season 1 before dj wifi gets established enough that they start inviting adrien to video chat on their group hangouts. so from that i think there’s nothing really about adrien as a civilian that captures alya’s interest. she supports marinette 100% but doesn’t really get it. she oohs and sighs at the right times when marinette tells the story of the Umbrella Scene but privately she is like. i don’t get it. he is just some polite boy with good hair.
of course i think her opinion of him grows and changes as she gets to know him over the course of the series, but he’s not someone she would’ve have been drawn to on her own. she was just as ready as marinette to write him off in origins, after all. and she’s pretty unbothered by the idea of marinette moving on with luka at the beginning of season 2. but i think sometime in late season 2 through season 3 she starts to get to know adrien a bit more and he’s not just some guy who gave marinette an umbrella one time. they’re not super close but he’s no longer just Romantic Lead #1 that can be swapped out for Romantic Lead #2 with no changes.
and of course by season 5 she’s unwilling to entertain the idea of marinette moving on from adrien at all, even with himself (though that is not entirely about adrien). and clearly some of chat noir’s charms have worn off by season 4, too—though she’s not unaffected in sapotis, so that shift probably happens later in season 2 as well.
(of course they truly bond in the post season 3 instagram timeline which blessed us with multiple alyadrien posts 😌)

Mine is in the circle of hell where every demon is female and they keep hitting on him
Also as for your own personal thoughts, do you think Daigo could have been into Mine?
I mean... maybe because I'm bi, but sounds preferable to burning in hell for "quintillions of years" as described lol
And I've talked about it a few times (though I guess I've never compiled it all in one place), but personally I think it all makes less sense if Daigo isn't into Mine. Take, for example, Mine's original character story. From start to finish, while Mine's agonizing over initiating a friendship, Daigo's the one who's "making moves."
He's inviting Mine out to a bar (one that's intimate and out-of-the-way, located in the Champion District—where, As I'm Always Saying, the LGBT-friendly establishments we're aware of are clustered—with a bartender he's comfortable confiding in). He's asking if Mine's currently seeing anyone, taking care not to gender a potential partner. He's leaving the area where all the nightlife is to take Mine to the hotel district and tell him he "wants some action."
And he's clearly thrown off when Mine doesn't catch on to what he means. Like, I fully believe Daigo was intending to propose a sexual encounter of some kind—maybe going their separate ways, maybe arranging a threesome or foursome with some ladies, maybe a one-on-one with Mine, who knows—and ditch Mine at the hotel.
Then there is, of course, the reserve bottle. Now, I can't speak from experience, but I'm told it's exceedingly unusual to reserve a bottle (particularly an expensive one) for a "friend." And that's sort of corroborated by the story Kashiwagi tells in Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
Like, it's in how they look at each other on the rooftop. It's in how Daigo is willing to lay down his life for Mine without a second thought and always has been, even before Mine felt the same about Daigo. It's in how, despite the fandom's incessant "yandere" characterization of Mine, Daigo is just as willing to kill to protect him.
They have one of the most special bonds in the series to me. They're best friends, and Mine is undoubtedly Daigo's closest confidant; of course, it helps that Mine takes no shit, much like Kashiwagi, but I think it would've been invaluable for Daigo to have someone like that his own age. And Daigo's got nothing but praise for Mine except his misgivings that the seems too guarded around him, but then again, he's not going to force Mine to open up before he's ready.
In a series that's all about beating your own ideals into the other person, it's wonderful to see two people who genuinely like each other and are able to make themselves clear with words and actions alone. When it comes to the thoughts they allow to come to the surface, at least. I think Daigo has to be into Mine, but I also think Mine's too dense to realize it. Perhaps vice-versa, too.
That all ties back into what I was saying about the reserve bottle. I can't help see it as perfectly symbolic of their mutual attraction. Never acting, waiting for "the right time" until it's too late, but holding it close to their hearts even when the moment has passed. And then all that's left to do is preserve the memory.
But, you know, that's just how I'd like to see it. I can't make any definitive statements (not that I was asked to, but as a wiki editor, I can't suppress the urge). Overall, I'm more inclined to believe it's not purposeful. Like, twooo gay major characters!?!?! That's pushing it...

Beyond the Loch | Monster CoD AU | Chapter 1.
Tumblr media
Summary: “With monsters now being used the world over to wage war, the military is desperate to encourage non-human citizens to join their ranks. A young kelpie, John 'Soap' MacTavish, is invited to join the infamous Task Force 141, the first task force in history to be headed up by a monster. Soon after joining, he encounters a black dog, an omen of death known only as Ghost. Determined to prove that not all black dogs are harbingers of disaster and misfortune, he decides to become Ghost's field partner, becoming close to the spirit while everyone else flees from him terror. Only time can tell if he'll come to regret it or not.”
Notes: Decided to create my own CoD Monster AU! I’ve seen loads of different AUs, but this will be my own personal take on what creatures the different characters would be.
Pairing(s): Future Ghost/Soap. Other to be added.
Warnings: Unedited because I’m tired ;w;.
Series Masterlist
Next: Chapter 2.
There’s always been a great deal of danger for monsters living in the human world. It is far safer for a monster to simply hide away their true identity and do their best to fit in among the cruel creatures that fear them. Better for humans to remain ignorant of a monster’s nature than to learn of it and potentially cause panic. Panic only leads to people lashing out and monsters dying.
At least, that is what Soap grew up knowing.
Times have changed, however, and for the past decade the military has been on the search for the monsters living within society. There are enemies lurking in the shadows that have seen the potential monsters can bring to the battlefield, and it has changed the way war is waged for every nation, leaving armies around the world seeking out the creatures they once persecuted and hunted.
That was what originally piqued Soap’s interest in the military. It was dangerous to even consider working so closely alongside humans, especially trained killers, but Soap has always had a rather rebellious spirit. A young Soap was always eager to push the limits and challenge himself, so chancing a stint with the forces was just another potential adventure in the making.
Of course, with age and experience on the field he has grown more tempered and far less naïve. He has encountered more than his fair share of humans who think monsters shouldn’t be serving alongside them and as a result have treated him... less than ideally... but there are also plenty who are simply excited meet a monster in the flesh.
Meeting another monster on a base or in the field is a rarity, despite how desperate the military is to recruit more, so it can often be a lonely occupation. He regularly finds himself missing the cool lochs of his home and his old pod. But like all males, once he reached maturity he had to move on and find his own territory.
Soap had hoped that joining a squad would alleviate the need to have a large family surrounding him, but he found it difficult to truly form a bond with a group of humans. They were friends, yes, but not what he would consider family.
So, when Soap is given the offer of joining Task Force 141, the first task force headed up by a monster, he leaps at the opportunity. Not only will there be at least one other monster on the team with him, but he would be working alongside some of the most experienced soldiers in the special forces. His request is approved by the higher-ups swiftly, and within a few days Soap has packed his bags, farewelled his old team and is standing before his new captain.
Captain John Price is a stoic man, or at least that’s how he appears on first glance. He’s friendly enough, offering Soap a pleasant greeting at the gate, firmly shaking his hand, and then personally escorting him tohis quarters and then the captain’s office where they can speak further. Price silently reads over Soap’s file again, lit cigar hanging loosely from his lips. Every now and then the man lets out a small puff of smoke, and Soap gathers that not all of it is from the cigar.
A dragon. One of the most revered of all monsters, almost always treated with a healthy amount of both fear and respect. Just one dragon would be enough to level a city, especially a mature, experienced beast such as Price. No doubt the military was giddy when they learned exactly what kind of creature they had under their command.
Normally, dragons are solitary creatures, preferring to remain hidden away in their dens and only leaving to hunt or gather more items for their hoards. So, for the special forces to have one working for them is surely quite the treat.
Just the sound of Price’s calm, deep breaths is enough to send electricity dancing down Soap’s spine, his brain instinctively telling him to dive into the nearest lake and hide until the threat of the other monster’s presence has gone. But where there is fear, there is also excitement. He has the opportunity to learn from someone with well over a hundred years of knowledge of warfare. He also can’t deny the relief that comes from having a fellow supernatural being so close, especially with the way Price seems to be so unbothered with masking his true identity.
Dragons are more than capable of appearing almost completely human, but the captain is rather loose with his looks. Deep green scales line the visible parts of his arms, no doubt continuing under his clothes, and his fingers are tipped with rather sharp, curved claws. His eyes occasionally flicker between blue orbs and thin slits whenever something catches his attention, and Soap is pretty sure he can see a reptilian tail shifting underneath the desk.
“A kelpie,” the dragon muses aloud, causing Soap to snap his eyes back up from where they’d been lingering on Price’s arm, “we haven’t had a kelpie with us before, so we’ll have to discuss any requirements specific to your species.” Price looks up from the paper, “then you’ll be able to meet the rest of the team you’ll be working with.”
“My requirements should be listed on the file, sir,” Soap answers, a little perplexed as to why the captain would be asking when he already has all the answers he seeks.
Price just chuckles at that, resting his cigar on the ashtray so he can offer Soap his full attention, “you and I both know that the military is severely lacking when it comes to accommodating monsters. They will give you the bare minimum to keep you alive, but I want to know what you need to be comfortable here, not just survive.”
Soap is surprised – for years now he’s been focused on just getting by, ignoring most of his preferences since they weren’t actual needs – it has been a long time since he cared about his own wants. “Not too much, just access to some water,” he offers, not entirely certain if that’s what the captain was looking for. Normally, Soap would try spending extra time in the shower, running the water as cold as possible, but it’s a poor substitute for being able to completely submerge his body in water.
Price just nods, scribbling something onto the bottom of Soap’s paperwork. “Any dietary preferences?” he continues.
“Meat and fish are what I would normally eat, but I can eat most things,” Soap watches as Price adds that comment too.
“That should be easy enough to arrange, we generally keep fresh meat stocked,” the captain nods, straightening out the papers in his hands, before tucking them away back into the manila file they’d come from. It makes sense that Price would have more sway over what happened on base, considering both his rank and his rather intimidating nature.
The file is placed into a locked drawer under the desk, before Price is standing up and gesturing for Soap to do so. “Well, it’s good to have you on board, sergeant,” the dragon smiles showing off some rather pointed fangs and clasping Soap’s shoulder. “Ready to meet the rest of the team?” he asks after giving his shoulder an encouraging squeeze.
“Aye, sir,” Soap grins back, genuinely eager to meet the men he would be serving alongside.
Price guides him outside and down toward the training grounds. There are dozens of men running laps while a sergeant stands nearby, occasionally shouting something to them, while another group are running an obstacle course. But the captain doesn’t lead them over to the other men, instead moving toward a lone soldier leaning up against a nearby wall.
The man is wearing a rather unnerving skull mask with accompanying gloves adorned with the design of skeleton hands. The man seems uninterested in what the rest of the soldiers are doing, gaze firmly trained on Price’s approaching figure. This is obviously another monster, with a lengthy, furry tail swishing lazily behind him, while unnatural, ominous crimson eyes stare them down.
“Sergeant, this is Lieutenant Ghost, you’ll be working under him,” Price begins, stopping just in front of the man in question, “Ghost, this is Sergeant John ‘Soap’ MacTavish.”
Ghost’s eyes slowly roam up and down Soap, expression unchanging. After an almost uncomfortably long moment of silence, Ghost finally speaks, voice surprisingly deep. “Sergeant,” is all he says, and it seems that’s the only greeting he’s going to offer.
Soap forces himself to peel his gaze away from the glowing eyes pinning him in place, offering a grin to the monster. “Good t’ meet ye, LT,” he chirps, giving a friendly fist bump to the other man’s arm, “lookin’ forward t’ workin’ with ye!”
Ghost’s eyes widen minutely and he blinks, glancing over to Price for a second before back to Soap again.
Price seems to be biting down the urge to chuckle, small puffs of smoke escaping his nostrils as he attempts to hide his grin behind his fist. He clears his throat, finally getting a hold of himself, “we’ll leave you to it, Ghost.” He jerks his head to the side, signalling to Soap that they should be continuing.
Soap offers the lieutenant another grin before turning away to follow the captain. As he’s leaving, he’s pretty sure he catches a soft, “fuckin’ hell,” murmured from Ghost’s direction.
“Is the lieutenant a werewolf or a shifter?” Soap asks just as they reach the building housing the recreation rooms. He has never met a werewolf before, but they’re far from an uncommon sight, particularly in Europe.
Price shakes his head, “no.” He takes a moment to mull over his response, seemingly uncertain about something. “Have you heard of a black dog before?” he asks.
Soap pauses, almost tripping over his own two feet. “A black dog? Ah was told they dinnae stray from their homes,” he frowns, thinking back to the old stories he was told as a young colt. Black dogs were terrifying creatures – it was said that so much as looking upon one would bring nothing but death and destruction – they were omens of chaos who typically preyed upon lost travellers, leading them to certain doom. Yet there were also stories of benevolent ones that would guide people back to safety, vanishing back into the night.
To follow a black dog was to allow the ghostly beast to determine your fate, either leading you to your death or safely back home.
“Usually, they keep to their own territories, yes, but Ghost prefers to... wander,” Price explains, waiting for Soap to catch up with him again, “is that going to be a problem at all?” He continues.
Confused, Soap furrows his eyebrows at the captain, “why would tha’ be a problem, sir?”
“Some people aren’t willing to follow a black dog given their tendency to lead people into danger. The people around them don’t tend to last very long which, obviously isn’t too uncommon in our line of work, but people tend to be rather superstitious, regardless.”
Soap is almost offended that Price would even have to ask, but it must be a prevalent issue if even other monsters were anxious to work with Ghost. “No sir, there won’t be any problems,” he confirms.
When they finally reach the rec room price has been looking for, the room is completely dark, with the lights switched off and no windows. Price reaches for the lightswitch and the moment he flicks them on a loud groan can be heard from one of the coaches. A head shoots up a moment later, subjecting the two of them to an annoyed glare.
“Good morning, Gaz,” the captain grins, offering a smirk as the man flops back down on the sofa with a huff. “Soap, this is Sergeant Kyle Garrick, or Gaz,” he starts, vaguely waving in Gaz’s direction, “Gaz, this is Sergeant John Soap MacTavish.”
Gaz mumbles what is probably some sort of hello, waving lazily.
“Don’t mind Garrick, he’s nocturnal,” Price explains, waving away Soap’s slightly concerned glance and ignoring the annoyed noise Gaz makes when he nudges the sergeant’s feet off of the coach. “Gaz here is a vampire, being awake during daylight hours doesn't agree with him,” he snickers, ruffling the younger man’s hair.
“Y’ ‘right there, Gaz?” Soap asks, unable to resist smiling when the other man tosses a pillow in his direction, “good to meet you too.”
“Soap is the newest member of the team, try not to concuss him, Gaz,” Price grumbles.
“Sorry, sir,” Gaz grumbles, blinking tiredly, “... can I have my pillow back?” he asks.
Soap grins, “sure,” he says grabbing the pillow from where it landed on the floor and immediately pegging it back at the vampire’s face.
Gaz grunts but doesn’t attempt to fight back, accepting his fate. A muffled “thank you,” comes from underneath the pillow and, a moment later, the man rolls over, now lying face down on his stomach. His body glows lax as he begins to drift off to sleep again.
“Alright, we’ll come back again later when the lad is a little more awake. I’ll show you the lake, then from there I’m sure you’ll be able to find your way.” Price pulls the blanket off of the back of the couch, taking a moment to drape is over Gaz’s sleeping body. “The boy was only turned recently,” he adds, quietly, “he’s still adjusting to how things work.”
Soap can only imagine just how difficult it must be to suddenly go from being human one moment to being a monster the next.
After he and Price leave, Soap can’t help asking, “how many non-humans are there on base?”
Price hums in thought, “I would say, approximately half of the task force.”
Soap stumbles for the second time that day, staring up at his captain in surprise. He had expected there to be one or two monsters on the task force, not dozens of them. “Why’re there so many of ‘em? Shouldn’y there only be a few?” he asks, stunned.
“The human-led task forces don’t have the experience dealing with non-human soldiers. They do their best, but they’ll never really be able to understand how we all function, that each species of monster is unique and has different requirements. We can’t all just be lumped into one category and treated the same,” Price explains, “I wouldn’t treat Gaz the same way I treat Ghost – they have different instincts and needs – but most humans make the mistake of thinking one monster will act the same as another and then act surprised when things go wrong.”
He certainly isn’t wrong, he’s seen firsthand how poor the military treats some of its monster recruits, particularly the more uncommon species. “Ye handle all tha’ by yerself? How?”
The captain huffs a laugh, throwing a toothy grin Soap’s way, “with hard work and very little sleep.”
Soap joins his soft laughter, genuinely impressed. He gets the feeling he’s going to enjoy working in this task force.

An expansion on this post about Steve and Eddie drunkenly eloping via an underground pastor at a pride event the same day they get together.
(If anyone wants to write anything inspired by this or the original post please do)
.
It’s 1990 and Steve, Eddie, and Robin end up visiting NY for xyz reason and when they hear about a Pride event they take the opportunity to go. They have fun, get emotional, somehow bond even more. Steve and Eddie have been teetering on the verge of something for what might be years now, the unspoken slow burn of falling in love with a close friend finally getting acknowledged, putting words and actions to the tension between them. They get invited to some more hidden low key community events to follow up the main event.
They get wasted, Robin gets distracted by some fellow lesbians. She gets Steve to let her slip away for a bit, insists that she’ll stay safe and believes Steve and Eddie can handle themselves without her for awhile, perhaps they could take the time to focus on this new evolution in their relationship.
When one of her new friends drags her to where a small excitable gathering is she doesn’t expect to see Steve and Eddie stepping up to the front of the scene. She can’t press herself through the crowd fast enough to interrupt the basement ceremony happening ahead of her. The audience is too loud in their catcalls for her to even make out much of what makeshift vows her friends are sharing but she can hear just enough to know some of it must sound absurd and hyperbolic to anyone paying close enough attention. She makes it to the front in time to see the swoon worthy kiss of a finale before the boys are gently guided to the side and gifted a Polaroid picture as the next couple falls into place in front of the pastor as he puts himself on the line to help same sex couples feel recognized in their commitment to each other.
She drags a giddy Steve and Eddie to a motel a few streets away, manages to keep them safely off each other long enough to snag a couple rooms, doesn’t even attempt to suggest they sleep apart and instead finds minimal sanctuary on the other side of a worryingly thin wall.
The next day they seem to remember all the important details and neither seem mortified with regret which is a big relief to Robin but there’s a stretch of awkward tension through the makeshift breakfast in her room before they checkout where they seem to be trying to get a footing for how to proceed with each other as boyfriends, let alone as unlawfully wedded spouses.
A couple jokes between the three of them and things start feeling more natural, less tense. Steve and Eddie make a few jokes about spousal privilege, Robin playfully laments she hasn’t even had an official girlfriend yet while Steve’s already snagged a husband. Steve counters with how to be fair he and Eddie had only got together a scant 6 hours prior to eloping and never officially used labels so would it really count as him having a boyfriend before her a girlfriend? And if that’s the case she can still brag about that since he won’t ever get to have a boyfriend since he’s married and all now.
It should be a joke but Robin knows Steve, reads the expression on his face, the inflection in his voice. She catches the way Eddie is eyeing him with heart eyes that reflect too much love and adoration and not enough humor for the joke it should be. She doesn’t miss the way he doesn’t make his own quick witted remark to correct or deflect Steve’s assertion. They don’t talk about it in further depth that day, or the rest of the trip.
When they return to their shared three bedroom home life continues in a way Robin assumed it would once her friends figured things out, the boys are more affectionate in a way that would be unbearable if it wasn’t so sweet and slowly one of their bedrooms becomes unused. There’s occasional references and inside jokes that crop up about the elopement but Robin lets it slide for quite awhile after, glad to see her two pining idiot friends are finally happily together. Within the codependency she has with Steve is a constant twist of protective concern and if she lets herself overthink too often she knows she’ll only spiral among a feedback loop of negativity.
It’s when the comments and jokes about marriage and husbands don’t peter out but instead morph into more casual comments that live on the side of too authentic for Robins comfort that the suspicions she’d felt turns to anxious worry that she stops ignoring.
The shiny new rings given to them for the ceremony are still in place on their fingers in a way that really only stands out on Steve’s normally unadorned hand. He gets offended when she suggests he moves it to a chain or something, quips about what kind of husband she must think he is before he gets quiet and swiftly changes the subject when her answer is a fake husband.
It’s 6 months after the trip to NY and Steve is pondering out loud to Robin, which is nothing new, but he’s going on about if it’s tacky to celebrate a 6 month wedding anniversary and how those expectations might differ between dating and marriage. She knows he’s more musing to himself than expecting a response from her but she can’t help the way she eventually explodes on him in frustration born from her concerns that he’s in too deep, too fast.
She suggests that maybe he’s taking the joke too far. He admits it doesn’t feel like a joke. She wants reassurance that he’s not just deluding himself, that the feeling is at least mutual. Steve is too insecure to speak for Eddie since they haven’t explicitly talked about it. They do mutually call each other husbands as a term of endearment and aren’t shy about voicing their love, but a lot of things just haven’t felt necessary to voice. Things just feel right in a way Steve isn’t sure he’s ever felt before. He gets why it sounds insane to want to take their elopement seriously but he thought if anyone would support him wanting to hold onto their opportunity to marry the love of their life, lawfully or not, it would be her.
Robin isn’t so easily reassured. She worries that Steve has fallen victim to playing out his youthful domestic fantasy to the point he’s speed running things and it could be to the detriment of his relationship and his future. She just doesn’t want him to get hurt. Her anxiety runs through all sort of reasons it’s a bad idea. And she lists them off in a near panicked ramble.
He’s young, the relationship is still new, they haven’t even been together a year. How is he sure Eddie is the love of his life? Wouldn’t he have said that about Nancy when he was with her? Has he considered if the trauma bonding is affecting his judgment? He really only came to terms with his sexuality a year ago. He hasn’t decided on his direction in life yet between college or a career. What happened to focusing on finding himself? What if he misses opportunities to find his true potential because he’s prioritizing playing house?
She was the only who knew about their drunken vows, there wasn’t any evidence besides the blurry Polaroid they’d been handed but when she couldn’t ignore the unsettled feelings about the situation she had turned to talking them through as vaguely as possible with Nancy, someone logical and sensible who also knew enough of Steve’s baggage to give some sort of informed insight as she vented.
Steve had been able to handle listening to Robins spiral of doubt, even as it bordered on lecturing, because he knew it came from a place of care and concern as she struggled to understand this discrepancy in their usually compatible logic. But when Robin begins sounding less like herself and more like she’s quoting from memory he doesn’t let her continue.
Robin ends up saying something that sounds just like Nancy and Bullshit. Suggesting Steve might care about being wanted in a relationship more than he did the reality of the relationship, implying every fast track couple was doomed to the fate of Ted and Karen Wheeler’s unhappy marriage or Joyce and Lonnie’s inevitable divorce. She alludes to his abandonment issues, his struggles with self esteem, and his lack of self preservation, as if they might have something to do with why he would want to honor his inebriated spontaneous illegal marriage instead of doing the more sensible and safe route.
Once he’s realized she’s actually been talking to Nancy about him he gets upset. He’s hurt and affronted and as much as he was willing to give Robin some allowance to judge him she had taken her lack of faith in him and in his relationship with Eddie too far. Knowing she’d gone behind his back to talk about him and Eddie to his ex girlfriend and had came out with such negative conclusions and assumptions made him feel raw and defensive. He lets his inner high school bitch take the wheel and watches Robin deflate as he begins correcting her where she’s overstepped.
He’s unable to stop some bitter self deprecation from slipping through when he tells her he might not be the smartest and may not be going many places, or making plans to do big things with his life, but that shouldn’t matter. Not everyone wants to make a difference to the world on a grander and more public scale than secretly saving the world repeatedly from the Upside Down. Not everyone’s priorities are to escape their hometown as soon as possible to disappear into a big city or learn it all at big fancy schools. The only opportunity he currently cares about missing is embracing the direction life will take him and Eddie together, and who they can grow to be while alongside each other. And maybe his aspirations seem lacking to someone as smart and talented as her and Nancy but he’s happy and content in a way he can’t recall ever experiencing, not even with Nancy. And maybe it’d be nice if his best friend didn’t suggest it was all bullshit or insinuate he was an idiot for wanting to keep that feeling alive and strong. There’s more he says but he doesn’t stick around for Robin to respond.
Eddie shows up in time to overhear something that could be taken out of context before Steve storms off but instead of assuming the worst and miscommunication dragging out the ordeal he actually checks on Steve and they communicate via a healthy discussion and Eddie confirms he is just as stupidly invested in Steve and meant every word of his vows too. At first Steve had tried pulling away when Eddie comes to him, Robin (and Nancy’s) words getting to his insecurities and stirring doubt where there’d previously been none. Eddie easily reassures him. Despite not being particularly religious he married Steve under God by the power of a badass rebel pastor and they didn’t need government approval or fancy paperwork or even their friends approval for it to be real.
Robin went to apologize to Steve and Eddie but accidentally eavesdrops which makes her feel even worse for doubting Eddie’s level of seriousness about Steve or that Steve couldn’t handle his own relationship and life, realizing that maybe if she hadn’t been so caught up projecting her own insecurities onto the situation she may of realized Steve and Eddie deserved more credit for understanding each other than she had initially been willing to give them. She does end up apologizing and Steve appreciates it even though he can admit he would of probably stressed out and made an ass of himself over Robin eloping so quickly as well.
For their 6 month anniversary they take the opportunity to get the kids together while everyone is still available. Eddie slips into one of his showy rants against the government and why some laws were better broken, ending it with the declaration that he and Steve being together is a prime example of how worth it some laws are to ignore. Most of the party roll their eyes, used to Eddie’s passionate spiels and gushing about Steve, something that’s only got worse since they returned from NY and were caught being borderline indecent at Joyce and Hoppers wedding reception. Steve had blamed it on their new relationships own honeymoon phase.
Mike who was hanging on Eddies words wrinkles his nose and points out in confusion that sodomy wasn’t illegal in Indiana. This gains everyones attention on him and he flushes, pointing out in his defense that he was just saying it wasn’t exactly illegal for Steve and Eddie to be dating like Eddie implied. The kids rush to tease Mike for just blurting something like that out despite the context until Eddie cuts in to correct the misconception that him and Steve are dating.
This immediately quiets everyone, confused and a little concerned they glance between their two older friends and Steve struggles to keep his face neutral. Beside him Robin shoves her own face in a book in an attempt to hide her own poor poker face. Almost simultaneously Max and Dustin both break the silence, rushing to get clarification and talking over each other as they ask what that means. Steve’s a bit surprised by the amount of hackles raising around the room at the simple statement. Max and Dustin especially looked prepared to follow through on previous shovel talks if necessary, hanging onto every word of Eddie insisting insists him and Steve aren’t boyfriends. They’re just shy of becoming feral as they try to make sense of the situation when Steve finally feels pity and casually chimes it that while sodomy isn’t outlawed same sex marriage is illegal, and yet…
There’s a moment of confused quiet that falls over the room only broken by Dustin huffing exasperatedly until Will lets out an almost involuntary sounding Oh. He’s all wide eyed and pink around the cheeks even before everyone focuses on him and Steve knows Will’s clocked the truth when he sees the way he’s looking at Steve’s ring finger. Will finally meets his eye and offers a hesitant congratulations. It’s only another bated breath before the kids stir with the revelations as their genius minds catch up to the insinuations.
They clarify for El how they eloped and what it meant, how they refuse to let the government dictate their use of matrimonial vows, holy or unholy. Eddie preens under the ability to brag about Steve agreeing to become his unlawfully wedded husband. Steve was prepared for someone to voice skepticism but when he hears Mike through the excited chatter grumbling about not understanding Eddie’s poor choices it means a lot for Robin to be the first to quickly shut it down, a chorus of vocal support following her lead.

So I had a different post up about the miraculous movie and how it wasn't perfect but - as someone who liked the series back when it was just Ladybug and Chat Noir against the world, and sorta naturally dropped it when the show started to introduce more heroes just bc it wasn't my thing - it felt nice and it gave me closure.
I was just gonna rewrite it in a way I liked better, but Jesus, whatever minor desire to pick the show back up again was very quickly snuffed out by how negative the a browse through the fandom tags felt. It's like people who like the movie are rubbing it in with a sort of arrogance, and the people who don't are almost gatekeepy with how "it's not the show" and how inferior it is bc of that. And I feel like wanting to talk about that instead.
Like. There are actual criticisms and praise going around but it gets lost in a sea of salt. It's kinda scary.
Personally, I liked it. It had some very cheesy lines, a couple scene transitions could have been better, What Have They Done To My Son, Plagg, and Adrienette's dynamic would have benefitted from a couple extra scenes (just a few tweaks showing him a little embarrassed or staring a little longer than usual in the Baddie Of The Day Montage(tm) would fix it, since I think they do a decent job of setting Marinette as special to Adrien given she's the only person we see him open up to about his mom, when we know he and Nino are friends and Nino already stated to always be there for him), to make the turning the ball invitation down + reveal hit harder, but overall it was fun. It was different.
What I truly cannot understand how this isn't Miraculous or how it doesn't really have a story. Sure, it's not The Series but in movie format, including the characterizations (they ARE different characters), but?? I feel like the core of who they are, or who they were back when the show began, still remains. Marinette still struggles with self confidence (which is in line with her season 1 self), and I particularly love how you can see how she HAS that spice bubbling underneath the surface, she just needed a push to embrace it and grow more confident (very Origins of her). Adrien is still closed off and quiet, and I love the implication that it was each other that gave them the push they needed to open up and be stronger and more social. I love how it was still Adrien's kindness that made Marinette fall for him, and Ladybug's bravery and selflessness that caught Chat Noir's eye.
Marinette is still clumsy and a little over excited, which we see in the first music, it just has a sense of WONDER to it instead of a frazzled energy like in the show, lol, poor baby. Adrien is still flirty and punny, he's still closed off, except show Adrien is trying to put up a brave face about it and trying to move on, and movie Adrien has lived with grief for longer and developed different coping mechanisms in regards to it. They're both very interesting in their own right, and I think the timing of Emilie's loss really explains the changes in him- movie Adrien is just past the meek attempts to be happy that show Adrien is still trying to do. He lost his mom and lived with an absent father for much longer than his show counterpart and it SHOWS. It's a different flavor of Adrien, but I think it's a neat choice, to have LB be the reason why he chose to open up. Show Adrien was interesting bc he chose to stand up to his dad in order to go to school, but he still felt alienated from his peers. The movie just makes that separation clearer but lets Adrien grow and hang out with his friends* and create actual bonds with them thanks to having first created a bond with Ladybug. It's a cool take on it.
I also really like what they did with Hawkmoth, though I don't think I can compare it to the show bc back when I watched it Gabriel was more or less just the absent father, mustache twirling villain that he was. This is where that * is inserted, I think the biggest change is that show Gabriel was more controlling of his son's life, and more demanding. Movie Gabriel straight up "lets" Adrien go missing for a whole night and only tries to talk to him the day after. He doesn't seem to mind Adrien spending time with his friends. He doesn't micromanage his son, though we still see hints of that control in how he talks about his designs, so its there, just a little hidden, that pride and arrogance. Again, it's a different flavor of Gabriel, but it works within the characterization of the movie and what they wanted for his character. Reminds me a bit of the Gabriel that wasn't willing to hurt Adrien (which apparently is an early series thing only, rip lmao) but was willing to go all out on Ladybug and Chat Noir.
So... yea. Maybe I'm just out of touch with the fandom and the show. Maybe it's because the characters have grown in ways I simply don't know bc I lost interest, and the modern MLB fandom understandably attaches those changes to the characters and wants to see it represented, which is valid. But tbh? I still love early MLB - not bc the "writing was better" or bc of Astruc v Zag shenanigans (are those still going? oh the war flashbacks) - just bc I vibed with the concept more. I love the show versions of these characters. And I think the movie is a different spin on them, but I think it does them justice. It has flaws, but the show also did, and I loved it anyway.
Speaking of just what I watched back then... I still think nothing in the movie tops the Umbrella Scene(tm), but I love that Ladynoir got a cute equivalent in the sparring one. I love the banter in both. I love the Adrienette moments in the show and I love how the movie expands on the inconditional trust between Chat and Ladybug, on how they're partners and always there for each other. I love Tikki in both. Show Plagg is my baby. I love what they did with Hawkmoth in both (movie and s1/some of s2). Master Fu as a cooky old man is hilarious. The cringe somehow got cringier in the movie. I think it's funny that movie Adrien gets to have his own "oh my god the second hand embarrassment, I want to cry" to balance out show Marinette lol. I love Chat still simping for LB and I love the cute little romance scenes, shipping fodder moments were always one of the strengths of the show, and we have it here in spades, so good for me.
It's just... as I said, it's different, but to me it's a love letter to the MLB that captivated me for years. It does its own thing, but I think I'm just gonna make a few tweaks in my head, mash Origins with the first half of the movie, then watch season 1 and a few select season 2 episodes, then go back to the movie to finish it up. I actually think that they complement each other quite well, even with the characterization changes, because, for example, the early seasons compensate for the movie's lack of Adrienette, while the show expands on the ladynoir side. If you use both, then the movie manages to effectively reverse the love square, allow Mari to grow past her awkward self, deal with the bits of insecurity in her that we still see sprinkled across the series, allow Adrien to stand up to and face his father, and give me a satisfying conclusion to the Hawkmoth plot and a cute little reveal.
I could go on over more talked about topics like the music (its fine. Christina inserts a certain breathlesness to Marinette that you feel Lou is trying to capture but she just can't. I got used to it tho, and Lou's voice is lovely) or the animation (gorgeous), like I did in the original version of this post, but to me what mattered most was the... For lack of a better word, the vibe of the movie. To me, it felt like a little time capsule bc it really embodies everything the fandom liked about the show during season 1 and its hiatus. I can't give it an objective score bc I think my 8.5/10 feels very biased, but I loved the nostalgia trip. I loved getting that closure. I'm still gonna go off and enjoy parts of both the show and the movie, because something something stronger together might just apply to them as well :)
