“hi,” you greet KYO with a perky tone that has him eyeing you suspiciously as you sidle up next to him. “what are you up to?” he asks and you can’t help but roll your eyes. “nothing. i just wanted to ask you something.” kyo doesn’t respond but he’s looking at you in anticipation so you continue, “would you kiss me for $10 or the prettiest girl in the world for $700?” it’s his turn to give you a quick eye roll which earns him a playful slap on the arm. “answer my question.” he sighs in resignation before replying definitively, “i’d kiss you for ten dollars.” “wow,” you drawl but a teasing smile tugs at your lips, “so you don’t think i’m the prettiest girl in the world?” kyo lightly bonks your head. “i already answered your question.”

over video call, you’re halfway through a game of 20 questions with YUKI when you ask him, “would you kiss the prettiest girl in the world for $700 or me for only ten bucks?” and you don’t expect him to already come up with an answer in an instant. “normally,” he says with emphasis, pausing for a second before he continues, “i’d kiss you.” you immediately feel your eyes turn into saucers. “what do you mean ‘normally’?!” yuki cracks up but he doesn’t relent, “i’m in college. i would need the money.” “i’m actually gonna break up with you.” he laughs harder at the empty threat before schooling his features as if to appease you, “you know you’re the most beautiful girl to me. i’d kiss you for 700 dollars.” “nice save.”

minutes have passed since you asked HATSUHARU your question yet all you’ve gotten from him so far is the blank expression on his face—he seems to be pondering over it as he stares into the distance. “so…” you speak, easing him out of his thoughts, “what’s your answer?” he then looks you in the eye and says, “i’d kiss you.” at the tip of your tongue sits a teasing comment in an attempt to dare hatsuharu to name someone prettier than you but he cuts you off with a kiss, his lips on yours, immediately wiping the smirk off your face. when he eventually pulls away, his expression is still as neutral as ever. “that’s ten dollars.” bastard.

“hi, tori.” you walk over to HATORI where he’s sat at his desk, reading some files at the moment but he doesn’t mind your intrusion into his workspace. “hi, sweetheart.” “you busy?” “i have time,” he says as he takes off his glasses. “okay. i have a question.” hatori swivels in his chair away from his table, making room for you to sit on his lap which you happily do. “okay,” you repeat, “would you kiss me for ten dollars or the prettiest girl in the world for 700?” that is the last thing hatori expected to come out of your mouth but he decides to play along, taking his time to mull it over. “just say i’m ugly,” you joke which elicits a chuckle from him. “you know i don’t think that.” “then what’s your answer?” “i would kiss you,” he says sincerely. as soon as he catches the telltale sign of you holding back a smirk, he quickly adds, “don’t ask-” “who’s prettier than me then?” you interrupt, satisfied with yourself when hatori only sighs. he knew it.

Fruits Basket Reactions: Doing the "Hide! My boyfriend/girlfriend/partner is coming!" prank on them

A/N: I'm finally starting to do Fruits Basket stuff! I'm super excited! I hope you all enjoy!

Arisa (Uo)

"Ha! Yeah right. Who's your other partner? Hana?"

You anticipated that she would not fall for this prank of yours, so you had been prepared. Like rehearsed, Hana suddenly came through the door.

"Y/N, are you ready for our date?"

This caused Uo's jaw to drop.

Hatori

He would give you a tired glare when you appear before him and tug at his sleeve. Even though you knew he knew what you were doing, you still did it. It was fun. To you, sure. To him, not so much as you had gotten Shigure & Ayame doing it.

"This is the 10th time you have done this, Y/N. While I'm not so bothered by you doing it, Shigure & Ayame have somehow gotten involved. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?"

"No of course not."

Kureno

You weren't expecting him to laugh and let you know that he knew of this prank. He would pull you in for a hug before mentioning that he was your only partner.

"Aw! Who told you? It was Shigure, wasn't it?"

"Actually it was Ayame."

It would be then that he notices your pout and rests his forehead against yours. "If you do it again, I'll make sure to hide, okay?"

Kyo

As usual, you catch him off guard and he rushes to find somewhere to hide. He hadn't really even thought about what you said. He would be hiding behind a chair in a kitchen when Yuki would see him and laugh at him.

"What are you laughing at?"

"Stupid cat. You're their boyfriend."

"Y/N!"

Momiji

Rather than rushing to find a hiding spot, he would worry that it was true. It couldn't be, right? By the look on your face, you seemed pretty serious. His heart would break a little. He needed to know.

"Do you really have another partner, Y/N?"

Saki (Hana)

Honestly? She'd humor you when you run over to her giggling. She just liked seeing you smile. And honestly, some of these things you came up with also got her to laugh.

"Oh no. Wherever should I hide?"

Shigure

He would smirk when you'd come up to him while he was writing. You really thought you could mess with him, Y/N? Well, he could play that game.

"Is that so? Just in time for them to see who really knows how to take care of you. Shall we head to the bedroom while we wait for them?"

Tohru

She would blink a few times before rushing to find a hiding spot. She didn't want to be seen by your- wait a minute. You got her again. She would laugh and tell you that she would surely get you back.

Yuki

He would have been sleeping when you come into the bedroom and whisper it to him. So in his sleepy state, he gets outs of bed and walks downstairs. He almost makes it outside the door when Shigure's loud and confused voice fully wakes him. Expect to be the victim of his death glare.

kyo sohma was the boy you always chased after.

for someone who always came off as hot-headed and impulsive, you were able to see the soft, vulnerable side within. kyo was an orange, someone you had to peel apart to get what was good, to get what was inside.

a boy who was wronged since he was born for something he never did. they say he’s sinned by simply existing, yet how could the sweet boy that took care of you be a sinner?

you were 5 years old when you met him. he was 6 at the time, and his mother had recently passed away. it was a couple of months later that you met him. you were at kazuma sohma’s dojo when the older man introduced you two to each other.

“kyo, met y/n. y/n, meet kyo. y/n is a year younger, so make sure you take care of them, kyo.”

at first, he didn’t like you. you could tell by his childish glares and the way he crossed his arms every time you came over. it wasn’t until you confronted kazuma that you learned the reason why.

“he’s just scared,” he reassured you, his hand on your back. “he thinks that you’ll eventually take me away from him. and don’t tell him this, but i think he’s scared to befriend you because he thinks you’ll leave. will you, y/n?”

you turned your head to the man, “no… mom left me like his did, so i understand him. i want him to know i won’t leave. how do i do it, kazuma-san?”

that started the time where you never left his side.

as much as you could, you’d always go to kyo first. when people said mean things to him for being the cat, you defended him. when he was alone at the dojo, you tried your best to come over and keep him company.

eventually, kyo warmed up to you.

“y/n is a year younger, so make sure you take care of them, kyo.”

he remembered those words from his master, and he followed them through. when you came over to keep him company, he always made sure to take care of you by making you snacks. and when people started talking about you because you would defend him, he’d yell at them.

“they have nothing to do with this! if you’re going to talk bad about someone, then let it be me!”

you never did anything wrong, so let the world be damned if they thought otherwise.

as the two of you grew up, he continued to think that. however, you didn’t know that. during an encounter after he had run away from seeing a woman he once knew in an accident, he yelled at you.

“GO AWAY!”

kyo was sitting alone in a dark room before you bothered to go inside. your hand, gentle, touched his shoulder. you were going to ask him what happened before screamed at you.

“k-kyo,” you stuttered in shock.

“you never know when to quit,” his body shook. he then clenched his fists, “just leave me alone! you’re always coming back to annoy me… leave…! JUST LEAVE! I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE AGAIN!”

he always coped by running away, which is what he did at that moment. he was distancing himself from you. if you were in that woman’s position and said what she did… he’d lose a reason to live. so if he was ever going to lose you, he didn’t want to care. he wanted you far away from him before he fell apart.

you didn’t get to see him until almost a full year passed. since you were a year younger than him, you were also a grade below. you weren’t supposed to, but the head of the family had sent you to go to kaibara, the same school that kyo and other members of the zodiac go to.

things didn’t go well the first time you two saw each other. well, you thought of it that way. you found him in a certain position at the wrong time. and with no explanation, it hurt you more than you thought.

you stood, frozen, at the scene in front of you. it was the first day of being in high school, the same school as him, and you were attempting to find your way around.

it was easy, really. the private school organized classes by their grades or department. you were coming back from the restroom when you saw kyo, his fist resting on the wall behind a brown-haired girl.

the boys the cat zodiac was trying to intimidate had run away, almost bumping into you. as kyo’s eyes followed them, they landed on you. the moment he made eye contact with you, his eyes widened.

no one had told him that you were also enrolling in the school. and after your last confrontation, he never got to talk to you again.

“kyo?” the brunette called, looking between both him and you.

unsure of what to make of everything, you looked down to the ground for a brief moment. your grey hair swept over your face before you left. just like kyo would, you ran away. you didn’t get to hear him call out your name as you did.

the next time you saw him, still the same day, the brown-haired girl was there too. you learned that she was the tohru honda your fellow zodiac had been talking about. besides them, there was yuki, momiji, hatsuharu, and tohru's best friends, uotani and hanajima.

they asked for you to join them in playing, but you turned them down. as you politely bowed down at them in apology, your hands tightly gripped the straps of your bag. you just couldn't bear to stick around kyo.

you knew he didn't want you around, he told you himself. if he was staying, then you thought it was better for you to go.

and as if the world was trying to torment you, you kept on seeing him. as much as you tried to avoid him, gatherings kept on being set up, and you'd often get dragged into it.

one thing you noticed after a while is that kyo didn't make an effort to talk to you. he'd act like he normally did for the most part, but he was a twinge softer than he was before.

what hurt the most is when you saw him smile. oh, that beautiful smile of his. your heart cracked when you recalled that it wasn't for you. he was talking to tohru when he grinned, slightly turning his head away.

again and again, you continued to see tohru make everyone smile and laugh. she had only been sweet to you, yet you couldn't help the feeling of burning jealousy in your heart. kyo pushed you away, yet he let her in. jealousy was ugly, and you hated yourself for feeling it.

with that, you let the distance between you and kyo grow further. despite the storm of feelings in your heart, you pretended like it was all okay. it only took so long for your heart to burst.

your day had already started off roughly after you saw akito in the morning. and to make matters worse, you ended up at shigure's house after school. momiji dragged you over, and now you sat with the older man while kyo helped tohru in the kitchen.

after getting a glimpse, you were sure they were cooking your favorite food. watching kyo cook it with tohru left a sour flavor on your tongue.

"you know," shigure spoke teasingly, "envy doesn't suit you so well."

you peeled your eyes away from the two in the kitchen, "what are you talking about?

he smirked, "oh, you know what i'm talking about. kyo pushed you away, and now you feel like our sweet, little tohru has taken your place. it's written all over your eyes."

"shigure-"

"you wish you were in her spot right now. it seems like kyo has made his choice, and you weren't the answer. it both angers and saddens you, doesn't it?"

“you never know when to quit. just leave me alone! you’re always coming back to annoy me… leave…! JUST LEAVE! I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE AGAIN!”

everyone downstairs had jumped when you suddenly slammed your hands on the table. kyo and tohru turned to where you and shigure sat, but you were already running out of the house.

the dog zodiac closed his fan, "oh my, seems like they took that to heart."

"what the hell did you do!?" kyo yelled at shigure.

the man cheekily looked at him, "oh kyo, you seem to care a lot."

"of course i-!" the orange-haired boy stopped mid sentence.

he let out a stressed sigh before he sprinted in the direction you ran off to. things weren't supposed to be like this. today was the day. he's said things, hurtful and untrue, and he wanted to fix it. yet there he was, spending over half an hour searching for you.

it was when he heard a familiar howl that he knew he had found you.

kyo moved towards where it came from to find you, adjusting your shirt. a branch snapped beneath his feet, and you whipped towards him at the sound. the tears that ran down your cheeks glistened underneath the setting sun.

you would've ran away, but kyo was faster. he grabbed your wrist and held you back, catching his breath. he didn't budge as you tried to free yourself. you wiped away your tears before you decided the effort to escape was fruitless.

"why?" you asked. "why are you here?"

"why'd you run away?"

"i asked first, kyo."

"and my question is more important."

with his words, you finally gained the courage to look him in the eye. when you did, kyo could see the clear pain you held. your eyes used to shine when you hung out with him, but now you looked at him with heartache.

“more important?” you repeated. “don’t act like you actually care now. you’re the one that told me that i annoy you. if i did, why would you come to find me?”

“i didn’t mean it, (y/n).”

“is that so?”

kyo gently let go of your wrist, “it wasn’t supposed to be like this… that day, i- i pushed you as far as i could. i’m sorry, i regret it.”

you would’ve made a comeback, but kyo’s sincere eyes captured your attention. he clenched his fist at his side, “all i do is hurt people, and i didn’t want to hurt you. so… i did the first thing i usually do. i pushed you away..”

“and tohru? what about her?”

he looked at you confused, “huh? what does she have to do with this?”

you clenched your fists lightly, knowing that she had everything to do with this. you frowned, “she’s a pretty girl, you know. she’s also been so kind to me too, just like everyone else was saying. i can see why they all cling on to her, why you do the same. she makes you happy, huh…” the horrible feeling of jealousy bubbled inside of your stomach again.

“you think i like her, don’t you?”

it went silent.

of course you did, you thought. tohru was such a sweetheart, so it was no wonder that kyo seemed to be that comfortable around her.

when you couldn’t bring yourself to answer, kyo had sighed. he brought his hand to his face, covering it from you. it was when you were already looking away that he took a peak at you from between his fingers.

you had curled up into a ball on the ground, staring at his shoes. you glanced up at him when he began to take steps towards you. he knelt down to your height and hand your hand. you parted your lips at the action.

“you’re wrong, (y/n). tohru… i only care for her in the way a friend does. her mom, she- i knew her. the one i care about in that way is you. any feelings you think i have for her, i have for you.”

the pace that your heart began to beat at had increased, and the jealousy you felt in your stomach began to dissipate. for years, you thought anything you felt was one-sided. but as he cupped your cheeks, you realized you were wrong. you teared up again, pressing your forehead against his.

“kyo,” you murmured, heart racing, “please say it. i need to hear it from your-“

“i love you, (y/n). i love you and only you,” his thumb brushed over your lip. “after all these years, you’re the only one that’s made me feel like this… like i’m running in circles. it’s always you. now quit it with the tears, you crybaby.”

you let out a laugh, forehead still pressed against his. the cat wiped your tears away from your cheeks gently, even as new ones fell. he pulled your body in close, providing you comfort through a hug.

“so we’re okay now?” you shyly asked.

kyo looked away, “if that’s alright with you… i’m sorry for acting like how i did, truly. i want to stay. i want to stay with you for as long as i can. please, (y/n), let me be selfish.”

“selfish? oh, you’re anything but that,” you pulled away from his hug. a smile graced your face, “but if you see it that way, then i want to be selfish with you. i thought that you wouldn’t ever choose me, but you proved me wrong. i want you, kyo. all of you and what you have to offer. i love you, so please take care of me.”

all he could do is stare at your precious face. with his right hand on your cheek, he had done what he always dreamed of doing. kyo moved his head closer to yours and pressed his lips onto yours. you immediately closed your eyes, basking in the feeling of his slightly-chapped lips.

“even if you stop feeling the same,” he told you, “i’ll take care of you until the end of my days.”

He will get up going after you asking why you kissed him thinking it was some type of prank from Yuki

He will be surprised when he finds out that is not the reason why you kissed him but instead that you wanted to because of your feelings for him

He would ask why and as you explain he can feel his heart swell with warmth grabbing you and kissing you back and after that the two of you were together

Tohru

She was cooking dinner when you came in giving her a smile and getting one by her in return as she covers the pot of rice

You helped her with the stir fry washing your hands and before she knew it you grabbed her and gently kissed her immediately walking out of the room after

Tohru came into your room later that night asking you about earlier in the kitchen and at dinner making you turn a bright red telling her your feelings for her making her smile and giggle in the pillow she was holding

She leaned in kissing you as you reciprocated smiling big both of you giggling as you moved over letting her lay down next to you talking and watching tv until you both fell asleep

Yuki

The two of you were walking home from school as you did a lot of the time due to your parents work schedules so you helped each other with homework and hung out together and sometimes with his family

The two of you had feelings for each other for awhile and you decided the night before you were finally gonna tell him of your feelings but instead you went for it and kissed him when you were a block away from his house

He was surprised but couldn't talk to you due to you hiding in Tohru's room after bursting in and telling her everything that had happened until he gently took you in his room and talk

After talking for awhile the two of you planned to go out on a date that next weekend sealing the promise with a kiss before going downstairs where tohru secretly smiles as you sat down next to each other for dinner

“what are you doing out here? it’s getting cold,” kyo speaks as he walks out into the garden, finding you laying in the cold grass that surrounds you while you’re looking up towards the sky. “i’m looking at the stars, kyo. come watch them with me.”

he raises an eyebrow at the suggestion but since it’s you who’s requesting it, he can’t help but carefully sit down beside you, looking up towards the sky. “lay down, you’ll break your neck otherwise,” you mention, weakly pushing at his shoulders from the position you’re in and he sighs but eventually agrees and lies down beside you.

“look, those ones look like a heart if you focus,” you point up towards the stars as if there aren’t a billion of them, but kyo tries to follow the direction of your finger and squints his eyes as he tries to see what you mean, and eventually, he notices the stars slowly taking the form of a heart.

when he turns to look at you, he notices how you’re already smiling at him widely as you’re proud of your discovery. he can’t help but chuckle, ruffling your hair which causes you to let out a quiet giggle. “we should still go inside or you’ll catch a cold,” he says as you look back up towards the stars.

“just a little while longer, i’ll be fine.”

kyo lets out a sigh but is silenced as you lay your head on his chest, seeming to cuddle into him. “don’t you think it’s peaceful to look at the stars? you can look at them and try to see different forms, i think it’s very cool. sometimes you might even see planets,” you mumble as kyo reaches one hand down to brush through your hair.

“i suppose i don’t do it often enough to realize how peaceful it is,” he whispers which causes you to look up at him with a soft smile playing at your lips. “let’s do this more often then.” “only if you bring blankets out next time, because now we’re going inside before you get really sick.”

“what do you think you’re doing?” you pause mid action feeling the presence of your boyfriend towering over your hunched figure.

“nothing.” you murmur but your words don’t come out clear since you left the spoon in your mouth, also a piece of evidence from your crime.

“how many times do i have to tell you?” comes a huff from behind you and you feel your head being lifted to look him in the eyes as he pulls the spoon out of your mouth “stop eating my ice cream!”

a small squeak escapes your lips as you’re carried from the open kitchen to your shared living room, fingers caress your sides emitting chuckles from your lips “stop!”

“absolutely not.” replies your boyfriend as he continues his attacks whilst you swing your arms and legs around, laughter taking over your entire body.

“i leave you for 5 minutes and suddenly half of the ice cream is already gone?!”

“as a couple, what’s yours is mine.”

“wonderful, care to explain why you get sulky when i eat your food?”

“because what’s mine is mine.”

“you little hypocrite!” before he can continue tickling you, you grab a hold of his hands and press a kiss to his lips.

“there you go, now stop complaining.” you pull away only to find him leaning in closer.

Kyo couldn't help but think this was stupid, he didn't want to go. I mean what kind of idiot has a costume party in fucking February?

But he was doing this for you....because that is what friends do.

Friends.....

Biting his lip he shifted his weight to one foot to another. He wondered if he should tell you how he felt or if he should just leave it alone because why would you ever like him. Shoving his hand's into his pocket he resisted the urge to fix the fake ears on his head.

Wetting his lips, his head snapped to the door and he could have sworn his heart stopped seeing you and there you were, god you were beautiful.

The soft flowy orange dress was clung to you like a second skin, the cut low enough that he had to force his gaze away, you looked so cute with how your fingers were grasped around the fake tail. He could feel his heart racing and god why did his palm's half to be so sweaty?

"You." Pausing, Kyo could feel warmth creep up his neck, his cheeks a deep crimson as he took a nervous step towards you as he placed his hand on your shoulders. "You look."

He was mentally cursing at himself, cursing at himself to just 'spit it out!'

You could feel your own cheek's grow warmth, you adverted your gaze for a moment. "Yes?"

It finally hit him, hit him was he liked this so much, liked this costume on you so much.

You looked like him...you looked like him and he couldn't help but feel happy. Be happy because no one ever made at effort for him. "Beautiful"

He kept his hand's on your shoulder, his crimson eyes staring deep into yours. He was a mess but he didn't care because you did this for him. No one ever did this for him.

Giving him a shy smile, you could not help but let out a small giggle until you stood on your toes as you pressed your lips against his own, eyes going wide he stumbled back. It took a moment to even register that you kissed him.

His heart was hammering in his chest and oh no. It did not like that sad look in your eyes. Cheeks still red he stepped towards you quickly tugging you close as he pressed his lips into yours.

Melting into you, his tongue ran across your bottom lip.

This was perfect, you were perfect and for once in his life he was happy.

Kyo noticed how she never talked to people, she always had her nose stuck in a book. Kyo leaned his cheek into the palm of his hand watching the girl from across the room as she flipped the pages of her book.

Y/n L/n was her name, of course Kyo knew who she was but like most people, they know her as the quiet, smart girl that sat by herself with a book.

Tohru and her friends noticed the Soma boy staring into space or so they thought. Tohru was about to say something but Uotani spoke up.

"Whatcha starin at, Carrots?" She asked with a smirk on her face.

Kyo jetted his eyes away from the girl and turned his head to the window. "None of your business, Yankee." He growled a bit.

"You were staring at Y/n for quite some time." Hanajima said.

"Shut up! I was not!" He exclaimed.

"Wow, I didn't know you were into the quiet ones." Uotani chuckled.

Kyo huffed. "Whatever." He grumbled under his breath looking from the window back to Y/n, who still nose deep into the book she had then back to window.

After lunch, Y/n headed back to her classroom with a new book in her hand that she got from the library. She opened the door to the classroom and walked inside and closed the door again and when she looked up, Kyo was there, sitting in his chair at his desk.

Y/n blushed a bit when Kyo's amber, cat-like eyes shifted to her. "Kyo...hi..." She mumbled.

"Hey..." He said back. Y/n felt a bit awkward talking to Kyo. I mean she's good friends with Yuki but he's nothing like Kyo. And she wonders why she fell for Kyo and not Yuki.

She walked quick over to her desk and sat down in her chair. I guess you can say that her and Yuki have too much in common. Y/n liked Kyo because he's the total opposite of Yuki and oddly liked his hotheadedness.

She sighed and opened the new book and started reading. "Hey!" Kyo's voice made Y/n flinch when she realized he was behind her.

"What's with you and books and stuff?" He asked as Y/n looked behind her to look at him.

"I mean you don't talk to anybody other then Yuki." Kyo said sitting down in the desk beside her.

"Well, I read books because it helps me escape reality sometimes," Y/n said. "And do you have a problem with me talking to Yuki, Kyo?" She asked closing her book smirking a bit.

"No!" He exclaimed hitting the desk beside her which made Y/n flinch. "I mean, uh, no. You can talk to Yuki if you want to. I don't care." Kyo said looking down at the desk as a pink tint stained his cheeks.

Y/n smiled softly and she couldn't help but laugh at the boy. Kyo looked over at her, blushing deeper. Her laugh was something that he'd never thought he'd get out of her.

"So, you're not jealous of Yuki?" She asked, chuckling a bit.

Kyo smiled smugly. "Like hell. Why would I be jealous of dumb-Yuki?" Kyo asked.

Y/n laughed at the boy as Kyo smiled softly at the girl.

"Well, if you want me to talk to other people maybe I should start talking to you." Y/n said smiling at him.

Kyo gave the girl a shocked and blushy look. "Wha?! Why me?" He asked.

"I just think that a person like you can break through a book nerd's shell." She said.

"What are you talking about?" Kyo asked her as he stood up from the desk beside her.

"Huh?" She answered him, look up at him.

"You ain't a book nerd. You just have a interest, whatever, who cares." Kyo said.

"Kyo..." Y/n blushed softly and smiled. "Thank you...Kyo."

Kyo smiled softly, knocking her head gently with his knuckles. "Dope." He mumbled.

Okay, so, I actually love the thought of queer relationships between the zodiac. It's always been very cute to me, plus it would save them from turning into an animal when they want affection.

Also, for these headcanons, let's just say that trans men/transmascs don't have any effect so that it stays inclusive! (I know Fruits Basket isn't the most trans-inclusive, but we're ignoring that)

Anyway, this would most likely take place before you two start dating. I doubt he'd be the type to commit to a relationship before revealing this part of himself. He's not good at this sort of thing.

So, right now, y'all are just friends. Most likely, you met at school. You're in the same class, or you met through one of his cousins/Tohru.

At first, he avoided you. It had nothing to do with you in particular - he just hates being social. Eventually, you do manage to interact with him, and he decides you're chill enough to be around. So you two become friends.

One day, you, Kyo, Tohru, and Yuki are hanging out outside of school. This is the first time you've hung out with them outside of school, so this is new territory for you. Specifically, the four of you went to the library to study for an upcoming test.

You sat in a back corner, away from everyone else. Tohru had gotten up to go grab a book, but she tripped over the leg of the chair. Kyo was sitting next to her, and he's the one she falls into. Suddenly, there's a puff of smoke, and when it clears, you see Tohru holding an orange cat, and Kyo is nowhere to be seen.

Tohru and Yuki look panicked, and you're confused. The two of them scramble to come up with some kind of explanation, but all you can think about is how adorable the cat is. You assume it's Kyo, although you couldn't explain what happened.

Tohru had put Kyo down by this point, and he walks across the table to get to you. His eyes have the same deadpan look they usually do, which is funnier in his cat form. Sensing no hostility from you, Yuki and Tohru are able to calm down a little bit, and Yuki is able to get a proper explanation out. You process only some of his words, too focused on how cute Kyo looks.

Without much thought, you scoop him up in your arms, gently holding him close. Kyo makes a startled noise, but doesn't struggle too much. Yuki looks amused as he ushers Tohru away, intent on giving you two some alone time.

Kyo asks you what you think you're doing, and you're shocked he can still speak in this form. You shyly explain that you just thought he looked cute, and your body kind of just moved on its own. You go to put him down, but he doesn't budge from your arms. It's barely audible, but you swear you heard him say something about him enjoying the embrace. You chuckle at that as you hold him tighter. If you listen closely, you can almost hear him purring softly.

Then, another puff of smoke appears. When it dissipates, you see Kyo standing in front of you, back to his regular human form. Except for the fact that he's completely naked. You turn away, flustered that you saw him in such a state. Kyo also turns around, tripping over himself as he looks for his clothes. Neither of you speak a word, and it's around this time that Yuki and Tohru make their return.

Yuki still looks amused by the situation, choosing to tease Kyo. Tohru is immediately flustered, still not used to seeing the boys after they transform back. As the boys continue fighting, Tohru comes up to you, asking if you're okay. She knows from personal experience that this kind of situation can be startling, so she wants to make sure that you're feeling alright. When you respond in the affirmative, she smiles.

Kyo and Yuki stop bickering, and Kyo is fully dressed once again. He can't quite make eye contact with you, but he does apologize for what happened, if in his own tsundere way. You laugh a bit, explaining that you're fine, just a bit shocked at what just happened. The three nod, as they can all understand how you feel.

By this point, none of you are in the mood for studying anymore, so you decide to pack up for the night. As you walk out of the library, you turn away from them, as your home is in the opposite direction of where they live. However, you feel something grab your hand, and when you turn to look, you see Kyo. He's still not making eye contact, and his face is a little red, but his grip on your hand is strong.

Quietly, he asks if he can walk you home. You're shocked, and you can hear Tohru cheering in the background as Yuki tries to silence her. After a moment to recover from the shock, you smile and him and squeeze his hand, accepting his offer. He makes eye contact with you for the first time since the incident, and you can see a small smile appear on his face. He tells the others that he'll meet them at home, and you're on the way to your house.

As you walk, Kyo explains everything in as much detail as he can. He leaves out all of his family drama, as that's a story for another day, but he does bring up his curse and how it works. You jokingly remark that he wouldn't transform with you, since you're both boys, and he laughs a bit at that. He gestures to your hands, still interlocked, and states that even holding hands with a girl would cause him to transform. That makes you laugh as well.

Soon you're back home, and he drops you off at your door. He squeezes your hand one last time before letting it go, and he asks if you'd like to hang out again, to which your agree. You do make one more sly comment about wanting to see him as a cat again, telling him that he looked oh so adorable. He groans, but it's all in good humor. He leaves, already thinking of plans for next time.

The two of you don't start dating right away. It takes more time, but this is the first major step. Also, he's willing to be more affectionate with you because he knows he won't transform. It's nothing more than hand-holding on leaning against you for right now, but when you do start dating, he gets very clingy, especially in public.

You don't get to see him transform that often since you don't cause any of his transformations, but when you do get to see it, it's always a treat. He gets so flustered when he transforms, and it worsens when he transforms back to human. You've gotten used to the nakedness after the first few times, but he never quite does, especially when you're around. It's cute.

after witnessing your failed attempts at making one rice ball, KYO suddenly decides to join you in the kitchen, “pay attention. i’ll only teach you once.” you fight back a smile because you know he’ll keep teaching you as long as you keep asking but you don’t point that out lest he change his mind. you expect kyo to grab a handful of rice. instead, he stands right behind you and cages you in his arms, putting his hands over yours to help you mold the clump of rice you already have in your palms. when you’re reminded of his curse, you quickly spin on your heels and push him away, dropping your rice ball in the process. to your surprise, kyo doesn’t seem remotely offended by your action. he’s more focused on the clusters of rice now scattered around your feet. a click of his tongue hits your ears before you hear him say, “you just wasted a good rice ball.” however, the expression on his face is free of disappointment—a small smile slowly curls on his lips as he waits for a realization to dawn on you and eventually, it does. “you’re…” you mutter in disbelief, caressing his face as if to convince yourself you’re not dreaming, “you’re not a cat…” at your reaction, kyo’s chuckles cuts through the momentary silence before he holds you in his arms, pressing a soft kiss on the top of your head in wordless confirmation—this is real. and you immediately return his affection, not wanting to wait another second to bask in his touch. you don’t know which higher power to thank but you still find yourself silently expressing your gratitude like a prayer now that kyo’s curse is lifted. when you pull away, he reaches for the bowl of rice behind you. “this isn’t enough for the two of us,” he deadpans as if a life-changing moment didn’t just happen. you’re itching to ask him when he knew but you deem it a conversation for another time when a suggestion suddenly pops in your head. “we can go out and celebrate instead,” you say cheekily, “i’ve always wanted to try this cat café.” kyo rolls his eyes and you can’t help but laugh. “what?” you defensively exclaim in between giggles, “cats won’t cling to you anymore.”

ever since YUKI went away for college, the only time you’ve really had with each other is when he comes home to visit. you usually have an itinerary prepared but this time, yuki decides to ditch all that. “you have a surprise for me?” you teased him once on video call. yuki simply shrugged, laughing. you tried to coax it out of him but he didn’t budge. “if i told you then it wouldn’t be a surprise,” he countered and when you gave him a pout, he added, “i’ll just see you at home, okay? i love you.” so here you are now, sat in your living room while you wait for yuki to arrive. thankfully, it’s not long before you hear a click from the lock of your front door. “yuki!” you beam at the sight of him and he immediately mirrors your expression. you’re about to take his bags when he swings them out of your reach, carelessly dropping his things to the floor before he snakes his arms around your middle. in a panic, you freeze in his touch and soon, you’re attempting to shove him off of you. “yuki, your curse!” you cry but he only snuggles further into your body. and that’s when it hits you. the boy you love hasn’t turned into a rodent which can only mean one thing—there’s no more curse. you don’t know when or how and as hard as you try, you’re unable to form words to ask yuki about it with your emotions beginning to take over you. yuki only chuckles at your lack of response, “surprise.”

HATORI immediately stops in his tracks upon the sudden sensation, “did you feel that?” “huh?” hatori is almost sure what he felt but he decides to brush it off at your confusion. “tori, you okay?” you ask, raising your hands to cradle his face but he involuntarily flinches at the closeness in case it triggers the curse. “sorry,” you quickly add. he shakes his head, declining your apology, “it’s fine.” you don’t talk about it any further on the rest of the way home but you’ve already reached your doorstep and he still seems distracted. you don’t want to part ways like this so you try again, “are you sure you’re feeling okay?” he doesn’t answer. “hatori?” “can i…” he starts before trailing off hesitantly. he doesn’t finish the rest of his sentence. without a word, he steps closer until there’s barely an inch between you then he wraps you in his embrace. “hatori, no!” you try to push him away in panic but you catch yourself in that same instant when you realize he hasn’t turned into a seahorse. holding your breaths, you both wait in silence for the curse to take effect but the next thing you feel is hatori’s arms tightening around you, making it clear he’s not planning on letting you go anytime soon. before your emotions can get the better of you, a chuckle is bubbling past your lips in relief, releasing any tension that has filled the air. “you have a lot of cuddles to make up for,” you tease hatori but your voice comes out weakly as you keep your tears at bay. and with you in his arms, hatori has never felt so grateful, “then let’s stay like this for a little while.”

“hi,” you beam at SHIGURE the moment he enters your home, “how was your day?” he doesn’t answer right away as if to ponder your question. “it was…” he momentarily trails off before adding, “interesting.” your eyebrows knot in confusion and that’s when you notice something’s off about him but before you can pose another question, shigure leans closer until he’s almost just about your eye level. “can i have a kiss?” he asks before he’s pouting his lips, sporting an effective pair of puppy eyes as you would expect from the dog incarnate. but all that effort only earns him a dubious look from you which elicits a dramatic sigh out of his mouth, “you know i’ve had a long day.” you can’t help but snort at his sulking but you eventually grant him his request. you’re careful to maintain a distance to avoid triggering the curse but in a swift and sudden motion, shigure pulls you flush against him as he kisses you with more fervor. your poor attempt to push him away does little to nothing against his strong arms that he can’t help but smirk against your lips. soon, he’s pulling away, his visage looking brazen as ever, “what’s wrong?” completely stunned and stupefied, you struggle to form the words on your tongue but a single thought plays in your mind—the curse is broken. when your eyes begin to well up, shigure’s cocky grin is immediately replaced with a smile so sincere that it’s such a striking contrast to the words that come out of his mouth, “we can do whatever we want.” then he’s kissing you again.

kyo sohma wondered why you loved him.

before the curse had even broken, before he came to terms with himself, you loved him. without a doubt, you only saw him as kyo sohma, the tsundere ginger you dearly loved.

but why? why love him when he was shunned and cursed out by most of his family for being a monster? kyo thought that maybe there was just something you weren’t seeing, but he realized that he was wrong. you saw everything, and it was everyone else that fell short of doing so.

you were never sohma in the first place, hence your unbiased opinion. the zodiac tale was merely a story passed on from one generation to another in your eyes. its words held no meaning.

despite that, you knew it held its weight to those it concerned. the moment that kyo was free of the curse, it was as if pounds of burden had been lifted off of his shoulders.

he was able to do something that he had held back on for so long. with a swift movement from his arm, he pulled you into a loving embrace.

“i’m yours,” he told you. “i’m all yours.”

it’s been quite some time since the zodiac curse broke, and he was happier than he ever was. with no restraints, he was free to live a life with the choices he could make. freedom had never been so beautiful, especially with you at his side.

you sat right at the small dining table while kyo cooked your guys’ lunch. as if you were a pro, you folded paper roses with red and green tissue paper. multiple completed roses were in a pile at the end of the table.

you had finished your task the moment kyo placed a covered bowl and chopsticks in front of you. on a day like today, he decided to make your favorite ramen.

after setting aside the roses, you excitedly took the bowl’s lid off. the steam cleared and you found yourself staring at the food with a small smile.

“hm, is this what i think it is?” you mused.

on top of the ramen and other toppings was a sunny-side-up egg. however, it was cooked in a soft heart shape.

you gushed, “aww, how cute of you, kyo!”

“don’t mention it,” he shyly looked to the side.

“here,” something red came into his vision. “a super special flower for my love.”

kyo stared at the homemade rose for a moment before gently taking it with his hand. crafted with your hands during your own time, you handed him something he would hold on to for as long as he could.

“super special is right. as long as it’s from you, it’s the most precious thing to me,” he met your eyes, smiling.

as his first love, he hopes you’ll be his last.
