....Hey, Stargate was decades ago, which is another country, and a few days ago I was reading that fic in which John finds Ancient TV, do you know which? It was cool. Anyway, in the far past that you'd know more than me about... how did people watch serials, other than when they were running? There were CD's being sold, or something, right? Would SGA cast have any reference for, say, finding Ancient Disney+? Also, was piracy over Internet... different from how it is now? What experiencies would SGA guys have with this stuff?

Are you talking about Blu-rays? I'm not from the US myself, and when I was a kid we just waited for the DVDs to come out or cable TV, which still aired late episodes
Not sure what you mean by Ancient Disney+
Piracy is, in some ways, better and worse now than it used to be. Anti-piracy laws are looser where I'm from, and streaming services weren't as accessible (or as convoluted lol) but from what i understand there will always be tools if you just looked for it. I have my own approach to it (IF i ever pirated anything, but seeing as I'm a good member of the civilized world, I cannot POSSIBLY conceive of such an idea) but you can always look things up
SGA guys' experience on...piracy? serial TV? Are we talking about the cast, or the characters?

you're in the habit of denying yourself things.
if someone asked you directly, you would say that you love a little treat. you like iced coffee and getting the cookie. you drink juice out of a fancy cup sometimes, and often do use your candles until they gutter out helplessly.
but you hesitate about buying the 20 dollar hand mixer because, like. you could just use your arms. you weren't raised rich. you don't get to just spend the 20 dollars (remember when that could cover lunch?), at least - you don't spend that without agonizing over it first, trying to figure out the cost-benefits like you are defending yourself in front of a jury. yes, this rice cooker could seriously help you. but you do know how to make stovetop rice and it really isn't that hard. how many pies or brownies would you actually make, in order to make that hand mixer worthwhile?
what's wild is that if the money was for a friend, it would already be spent. you'd fork over 40 without blinking an eye, just to make them happy. the difference is that it's for you, so you need to justify it.
and it sneaks in. you ration yourself without meaning to - you don't finish the pint of ice cream, even though you want to. the next time you go to the store, you say ah, i really shouldn't, and then you walk away. you save little bits of your precious things - just in case. sometimes you even go so far as putting that one thing in your shopping cart. and then just leaving it there, because maybe-one-day, but not right now, there's other stuff going on.
you do self-care, of course. but you don't do it more than like, 3 days in a row. after that it just feels a little bit over-the-edge. like. you can't live in decadence, the economy is so bad right now, kid.
so you don't buy the rice cooker. you can-and-will spend the time over the stove. you can withstand the little sorrows. denial and discipline are practically synonyms. and you're not spoiled.
it's just - it's not always a rice cooker. sometimes it is a person or a job or a hug. sometimes it is asking for help. sometimes it is the summer and your college degree. sometimes it is looking down at scabbed knees and feeling a strange kind of falling, like you can't even recognize the girl you used to be. sometimes it is your handprint looking unsteady.
sometimes it is tuesday, and you didn't get fired, and you want to celebrate. but what is it you like, even? you search around your little heart and come up empty. you're so used to denying that all your desires draw a blank.
oh fuck. see, this is the perfect opportunity. if you had a mixer, you'd make a cake.
#warm up#this isn't good#writeblr#this is complicated by the fact i can't stand up too long or i fuckken pass out and <3 hit my damn head <3#but i did take a deep breath and buy myself the stupid rice cooker#and!!! a very cheap sushi kit!!! i have been wanting to try making sushi for literally YEARS#the kit was only like 15 dollars!!!! and i haven't purchased it bc?!!??!?!?!?!!?#..... i didn't get the mixer tho that felt. like a lot. like too much.#on my list is a kitchenaid. one day when i get a check and i have paid off my student debt#and medical debt#i will put that first little bit of cash#into a kitchenaid 5qt stand mixer (with attachments)#i really do just go into their refurbished section and stare lustily at each option#but yeah i feel guilty about the rice cooker even tho i know for a fact this damn thing is gonna be a lifesaver#oh shit also fuck i forgot to mention . poached eggs

truly an old, grumpy bastard. kidding. he’s a dilf without even being a dilf— which is so fucking frustrating because it forces you to imagine actually having his kids and watching him walk around with a chunky baby to bounce on his big, ink covered arm. he always tells you that all you have to do is say the word, and he’d be happy to oblige. to give you a happy baby and make up the warm, bubbly home he never had growing up. he’d put a pretty ring on your finger, too. everything and anything despite your age gap.
and god… is he making sure you fall right into his trap. he’s even at it early in the morning, lounging in the living room with nothing but his briefs on, thick thighs spread and just waiting for you to sit your soft warmth right on top of them. above the elastic waistband digging into his carved hips are those solid abs that reside under the bit of pudge he does have. your eyes trail all the way up, to his beefed up pecs and bulky scarred biceps, while he reads the morning paper and has a mug of tea without a care in the world.
“simon,” you don’t mean to say his name, honestly. it slips out with ease as it tends to, because you cant seem to wrap your head around how this metaphorical and literal mountain of a man is yours. it escapes you on instinct as your feet carry you to him, shuffling in your slippers until your knees bump into his own.
you’re falling into his lap with a kind of desperation that is so familiar to him. he knows— he always does. so a calloused hand squeezes your thigh while you press yourself into him and already begin placing kisses along the underside of his stubbly jaw. his adam’s apple bobs as he speaks.
“ready t’ take me up on that offer?”

Love your bg3 comics! I hope you don’t mind some world/lore building questions!
I was wondering why Kit looks so much more like Dorian than Astarion, and it got me thinking about how vampire genetics work. Do you think that the only physical traits that get passed down are ones from before becoming a vampire? That said, what do you think Astarion looked like before he was turned, and did Kit inherit any of those traits?
i think that would make sense!! i feel like pre-vampire astarion probably looked about the same but less pale and gaunt (personally i hc that he just went grey really early and i’m also in the brown-eyed astarion club)
honestly though, the real reason kit didn’t get anything from astarion is because the redleaf genes are too strong and they all look exactly the same
(he still got the teeth and the fluffy hair though)

To this day I still think "I wish squids were real" is the funniest example of ascended canon ever. Like, the first Splatoon game comes out, someone makes a Miiverse post just saying "I wish squids were real" (already peak comedy), "I wish X was real" becomes a meme in the Splatoon community and gets reposted everywhere.
Then two years later Splatoon 2 comes out and
