I kind of wish I didn’t take like, this really long break in the middle of the episode because, this episode really deserved my full attention.
As people mentioned on discord, this is a really well written backstory for Scarlemagne, full of flawed choices in desperate situations. It’s kind of a fucked up scenario that’s kind of heart wrenching thinking back on it.
And I’m SO glad Kipo got all this information. She knows that Dr. Emilia can’t be trusted. She knows why Scarlemagne is the way he is. She knows she has a brother. All that is going to be very important in her decisions down the line.
And, I love how Kipo showed Scarlemagne compassion in his time of need. It’s that kind of stuff I love this show for.
Ha, to think I was so unmotivated when I started today, but I just kind of swallowed up the rest of this episode. Truly a testament on how good this show is xD
Anyways, I’m HOPING to liveblog tomorrow. I don’t want to keep you all waiting any longer, and I have a shit ton of other stuff to get to as well this rotation so, I’ll try not to dawdle. I wonder if I can stealth blog tonight? I tend to be more productive when I actually get a stealth blog session in... eh, we’ll see. Usually too zoned out by the evenings. xD
Anyways, thank you all for joining me! I love you! <333

No but holy sh*t am I mad- IM ACTUALLY GONNA RANT ABOUT IT-
I can't believe Disney cut this short just because it has this representation- which
BY THE WAY IS WELL AND BEAUTIFULLY SHOWN-
That barley gets ANY attention or representation AT ALL in kid's shows
WE COULD HAVE LEARNT SO MUCH- SO MANY THINGS ABOUT- I DUNNO LEMME MAKE A LIST
1. The rest of the coven leaders
2. Perhaps more about Belos and his past- as Philip
3. Probably more about Amity's family n stuff
4. Luz learning more spells ( yes, I actually believe Luz could learn more about magic using glyphs and stuff)
5. More about the coven magic- for example, the way how people that do the illusion routs (I'm guessing all students who learn it) can like- see other people's memories and stuff. Like- I wanna see more with healing, potion and the oracle- and so on! I just think we could've seen more about the magic within. Like- how maybe amity can do all that abomination jazz like Darius does!
6.speaking of Darius- MAYBE A MOMENT OF HUNTER SEEING HIM AS A FATHER FIGURE???
7. In case you forgot- Luz having a Palismen? Like- I'm not sure if we're seeing it in season 3 but-
I could go on and on-
Apparently Disney couldn't do it just cuz of gay little kids!
Just cuz of some beautiful representation!
I feel like Dana and the crew we're disappointed and- probably overwhelmed due to trying to fit as much as they can in like- 20 mins each episodes!
And they wanted to make this for so long!
I'm actually PISSED
Honestly- I actually liked watching Disney as a kid but- Disney actually got me pissed at THIS-
I watched amphibia and the show is great by the way and I'm so happy that Sasha is a bi!
Like- you f*CKING go queen!
Me and my sister we're thinking that- what if Matt Braly wanted to show more about Sasha being a bisexual?
I think they we're smart about it putting it right in the finale but- I'm just thinking about cuz even if they did add more of Sasha being a bisexual, Disney would straight up be like- " haha f*ck you, I'm gonna cut the paper short! ". Unless Sasha found out that she was bisexual as she got older- now that's a different story.
Congratulations to amphibia.
Back to the owl house. The show's great, amazing, beautiful- all the positives- Dana, we love you- thank you so much. But when seeing the episodes- when it god like- the Intense scenes where you see alot of like- important bits- the Intense important bits-? It just- Snap! There it goes, it just goes so quickly it gives me so little time to see more of one scene until it gets to the other and so on. It hurts to see that- like imagine if Disney didn't f*ck up and left the episodes as it usually was gonna be- imagine getting longer scenes instead of it flashing to one another for like 1 min or sumn. I think it would've been more- lively. I'm absolutely not blaming Dana and the crew for this, it's Disney at fault, like, I'd cartoon network can allow space rocks be gay, a Princess made out of gum and a vampire queen to be lovey dovey, or when DreamWorks allows a well built women and a cat-girl be together and so on- WHY CANT DISNEY? Is it that hard, Disney???
(I'm not sure if Pixar allowed anything gay- let me know if they did)
Shout out to Steven universe, adventure time, She-Ra, kipo and other shows adding LGBTQ rep.
I might be done ranting so hard I'm not normally the type of person to get mad- it's just that- I watched Disney as a kid and loved it- but as I grew up and become a better person- (and a little gay) and getting this show right when it gets- almost ruined actually- IM F*CKING SETTING A BUILDING ON FIRE!
Sorry for the negativity and all- but alot of people we're doing it so I was like ' can I also release some of my anger with you? ' and boom! Ya get this FAT LONG MESSAGE!
Disney do better!

I find the fact that Hugo seems to be far more likely to ascribe ulterior motives to Wolf than to Kipo to be incredibly funny.
In 'All That Glitters', while Kipo is definitely doing it all out of love, everything Kipo does is an attempt to guide him towards her ideal outcome. And yet Hugo takes her at her word every time she insists otherwise. This despite her proving herself capable of outmaneuvering him (telegraphing her contingency plan in doing so) with her secret farmer rebellion in Corndog King. She played him like a fiddle in season 2 and yet in season 3 he still seems to be operating under the idea that she's too naive to ever be plotting anything behind anyone's back.
Meanwhile, Wolf is never anything but straight-forward in achieving her goals. She's consistently blunt in her methods and reasoning, yet Hugo is constantly looking for the hidden angle (that just isn't there). In 'Prahmises' he immediately assumes that Wolf tracked him down in order to interfere with his plan to assassinate Dr Emilia and is initially skeptical when she says otherwise.
All this is especially hilarious because Kipo's not even subtle. Like, at all. Like I pointed out earlier: she essentially revealed her back-up plan to Hugo while they played Corndog King and it just sailed past his radar. On the other hand, everyone else has always known that Kipo's kind actions, while genuine, are also part of Kipo's plan to bring about world peace. They just go along with it, usually because they know that trying to talk her out of it won't work. Wolf, Lio, Benson, even Dr Emilia, they all know Kipo's scheming. Hugo's the only one who somehow keeps missing the memo.

I am begging you, watch Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.
This show is so slept on, but lemme tell you - it’s good. The show has a plethora of good racial, queer and neurodivergent representation, and it’s just good.
Legit none of the main characters are white. We have Kipo, the main, who is half-Black and half-Korean (ignore her pink skin) and her crew Benson and Wolf, who are both Black. Benson’s love interest is Latino/Asian. In fact, if I’m correct, the most important white character in the entire show is the main antagonist for season 3.  Edit: why the hell did I write black twice.
(Spoilers in this paragraph) A side character, Asher, who is in seasons 2 and 3, is canonically non-binary. I can’t remember if their pronouns are used in-show, but the creator confirmed it on Twitter. On top of this, Benson’s love interest I mentioned? Yeah, his name is Troy, and he’s canonically pansexual. On top of this, Benson actively comes out in an episode where Kipo asks him out; “I like you as a friend...because...I’m gay!” Very sweet episode.
While there are no canonical neurodivergent characters, Kipo is heavily adhd-coded. Wolf has clear trauma from her “family” and the abuse she went through. The show tackles racism (in a way), abandonment, betrayal, found family and healed trauma from families.
Now the plot. The story is a refreshingly original tale of Kipo, a girl that lived in an underground city her whole life. This is because “the surface” has become overrun by “mutes”, animals that have doubled, tripled, quadrupled or plus in size. They can also think, talk and scheme - and they hate humans. However, when Kipo is thrown to the surface with no hope of getting back home, she has to work with what she’s got - which is a small but angry Wolf and a flaky but loyal Benson. And a whole lot of mutes that would like her head on a stick.
Last thing - the cast is actually pretty star-studded. Kipo is played by Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko Miyashiro, The Boys - Glimmer, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power - Katana, Suicide Squad). Seasons 1 and 2 antagonist Scarlamange is played by Dan Stevens (Matthew Crawley, Downtime Abbey - The Beast, Beauty and the Beast - Alexander Lemtov, Eurovision; the story of Fire Saga). And Dave is played by comedian Deon Cole, who was also in Black-ish at a point. Edit: probably the biggest name, at least to me, is the side character Lemieux, portrayed by Grey Griffin (Azula - Avatar, The Last Airbender, Moon and Jackie - SVTFOE, Ice Queen - Adventure Time, Masha - The Owl House, and many more).
Honestly, this show is so good. Please please please give it a shot. If you like Amphibia, The Owl House, Hilda or SPOP, watch it.
Okay final edit I promise: The soundtrack fuckin slaps. Apologies to everyone in the tags pointing out that I missed it

For those looking for shows/animes/movies with good lgbt ships, here is a list of ones I personally like. Some of these are canon some are not.
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous (animated show) - Netflix - canon wlw ship and has a character with 2 dads. (Plenty of queer coding aswell)
Heartstopper (live action show) - Netflix canon wlw and mlm ship and a trans (mtf) character, asexual character.
Stranger Things (live action show) - Netflix - canon gay, lesbian and bisexual characters as well as alot of queer coding
Arcane (animated show) - Netflix - semi canon wlw ship
Kipo and the age of Wonderbeasts (animated show) - Netflix - canon mlm ship, Canon non-binary character
She-Ra and The Princess of Power (animated show) - Netflix - canon wlw ship and canon poly ship, a non-binary character and a character with 2 dads
Sk8 the Infinity (anime) - crunchyroll - 1 canon gay character, 1 semi canon gay character as well as many queer coded ones
Sasaki to Miyano (anime) - crunchyroll - 2 canon mlm ships
My Hero Acadamia (anime) - crunchyroll - 2 canon trans characters, 1 canon bisexual character (not the best rep but as long as you stick to the good part of the fandom there is so many good ships)(personally I recommend the manga over the anime tho :])
Luca (movie) - Disney+ soooo much queer coding, no canon ships
The Owl House (Animated show) - Disney+ - canon wlw ship and a non-binary character + a ship for that non-binary character. Character with 2 dads
The Maze Runner (live action film series) - Disney+ (there is also books) - canon gay character
Venom 1&2 (live action movie) - Disney+ - semi canon monster x human mlm ship I think (idk in the comics they are canon and have a kid tho-)
Camp Camp (animated show) - season 1,2,3 youtube, all seasons on RoosterTeeth - queer coding/ kinda canon bi character, one character has 2 dads
Sonic the Hedgehog 1&2 (animated movies) - Amazon Prime Video - canon mlm ship
Marble Hornets (found footage style horror) - YouTube - (the main focus is horror/story and not ships but the creators have confirmed some gay characters) 1 Canon gay character, 1 half Canon lesbian character, 1 Canon non-binary character (in the comics)
Helluva Boss (animated show) - YouTube - 2 bi characters, 1 pan character, 1 character who I think is either gay or queer idk, plenty of canon lgbt ships (Most of the characters are lgbt I don't think I can name them all these are just the main ones💀)
The Goldfinch (live action movie and novel) - Binge - mlm ship but Idk what their sexualities are.
IT 1 & 2 (2017) (live action horror movies) - Binge - Canon gay character, (not great movies for people who get offended though it has some... questionable jokes.)
I also personally like Sherlock and how gay that show was but ik alot of people hated that show due to its queerbaiting so that's why I didn't add it in.
(even if u don't watch Marble Hornets for the ships, maybe it's just my hyperfixation on this show but it's like 14 years old and deserves a bigger fan base and respect cuz its probably the best of its style of horror I have ever seen and the characters are amazing and the story and it makes my writing brain happy :] )
I'll update this as I watch more shows/animes/movies

Ooh, we’re getting this really cool dreamscape of Kipo facing off against her jaguar self.
I love the pink energy in this. I don’t think there’s too much, so we shouldn’t be in danger.

What are some western cartoons you've enjoyed?
Amphibia
Tumblr media
A fun western take of Isekai, without the wish fulfillment escapism that plagues Isekai, which was actually criticized with the character of Marcy, with a lovable cast, great animation and a well made story with a bittersweet yet satisfying ending.
Hilda
Tumblr media
The best modern cartoon period, a cozy and sweet yet action packed and even sometimes dark adventure show about a little girl exploring her magical realism world.
Gravity Falls
Tumblr media
Not nearly as fantastic as everyone and their mom claims to be, but still a great show, with tons of good characters, excellent animation, and an overarching plot that while ultimately flawed (the second half of season 2 really dropped the ball on that one) was still great.
She-Ra
Tumblr media
Great solid show from beginning to end, but especially towards the end when the silly princess stuff finally began to be properly integrated with the actual plot. Also Catra best character don’t @ me.
Kipo
Tumblr media
The most underrated modern cartoon I’ve seen, a superb show with a great story, characters and a truly unique setting, not to mention it did the whole villain redemption thing everyone and their mom was doing at the time, but actually did it fantastically.
Invincible
Tumblr media
Like many others I was drawn in by the brutality of the first episode, and boy did it just keep getting better after it! Just skip everything with Amber in it, and you should be in for the best animated superhero show since JLU.
Arcane
Tumblr media
Love it! From beginning to end it was a wild ride of a show, and this is coming from someone that only knows about LoL through memes and porn. At times it almost felt like I was watching an extended movie.
The Amazing World of Gumball
Tumblr media
This has to be the funniest modern show there is, at least before they decided to use a ton of “funny faces”, when it went down to being among the funniest. Still, a love letter to animation, featuring just about every style of it there is, and with an extremely weird yet fun cast of characters.
Before jumping back to anime I used to watch a ton of these, so I’m sure there’s more, but these are on too of my head and from the last decade, but I can honestly tell you, that my favorite cartoon of all time is:
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Tumblr media
There’s just not a single bad episode in it, and every character has been as memorable as Courage himself.
Dishonorable mentions:
The Owl House: Amphibia but actually embracing the bad of Isekai.
Steven Universe: Started weird, got good but ultimately fell down the stairs due to its terrible obsession with finding good things about terrible people.
OK KO: Garbage character models and too obsessed with making references.
Adventure Time: Everything wrong with modern animation.
Regular Show: Modercai is a simp and just looking at the guy gives me cringe.
Bee and Puppycat: Everything wrong with AT and SU COMBINED.
Korra: Not canon

Just watched all of Infinity Train over the last few days. I definitely enjoyed season 1 (reminded me a lot of Kipo.) Season 2 had a rocky start for me, but really picked itself up in the second half. I ADORED season 3--like the whole season had me just jumping to the next episode. And season 4... I didn't care about at all. Really a fascinating mixed bag.
