Genuine question: I know that Jewish people don’t say ‘rest in peace’, rather, ‘may their memory be a blessing’, but I watched the film Yentl recently, and they only ever said ‘rest in peace’, which I found a little odd, as it contradicted what I knew of Judaism. Do you know if this would have been cultural difference, a mistake or purposeful change on the part of the writers, or any other reason? I’m not Jewish, but I’m interested in learning about different religious and cultural practices, and I’ve been trying to learn more about Judaism recently, so it was something that stood out to me.

It's a purposeful change to make the appealing to gentiles. There's a lot of elements they changed in the movie- Jews don't call the Tanakh the "Pentateuch" in regular conversation, for example. Even the names were changed to be easier- in Isaac Bashevis Singer's short story, Hadass's name is Hodes, which is a far more common Yiddish name than Hadass. And of course the original short story is much more sexually charged and gender challenging, but Barbara Streisand specifically sanitized the film to appeal to secular audiences (in the same way Fiddler on the Roof sanitizes the original Sholem Aleichem stories). Listen I love Babs but she literally holds the copyright over the short story in English now even though she didn't write it so now in order to make an adaptation that isn't as whitewashed as the Yentl film, artists have to use only the original Yiddish story.......I love the movie but it's also deeply sanitized and whitewashed deliberately, because the only way Jewish stories can be told is if they're "cleaned up" for gentiles' consumption.

Every time Anders speaks about the dangers of demonic possessions regarding blood magic and how against it he is, and someone goes "he's one to talk! He's an abomination" I start seeing spiders. Anders was in solitary for a year. If there was a time he would've succumbed to a demon it definitely would've been there or immediately after. But what really grates my gears is that what he did with Justice is not even comparable to a mage getting possessed by a demon bc they slipped up in their dealings with said demon. Whether you believe Justice got corrupted by Anders or not, he was a spirit at the time of their joining, and Anders did it to help him (and so together they could help others). I think something that has ruined the most black butler content on Tumblr for me is those little banners at the ends of posts like "s*ebaciels dni". I understand being made uncomfortable by a ship, but artistically, having that there makes the content so much more difficult to enjoy. I just saw an absolutely beautiful fan edit, but it had one of those banners on the end, and it immediately ruined it for me. It snaps me out of that emotional appeal so much I can't look back and enjoy it anymore.

Honestly, there are so many more ways to avoid interaction with a part of fandom you don't like than adding something that takes away from your creation. I want to enjoy the piece, not be turned off by a passive aggressive banner. If you just tag the post with "sebaciel dni", most people who enjoy the ship will have that tag blocked and will not see the content. Even if someone does, and someone tags it as sebaciel, you have the power to block that person. You can block them and they won't see your shit. It's that easy, really.

This isn't even about ship discourse. I really don't care how you feel about sebaciel. I just get annoyed when the enjoyment of something someone put time and effort into making is stunted by something so entirely unnecessary.

This scene is one of the best ones of the 2015 show.

Instead of using it for the first episode, they should have used it as the ending episode and left the show on a cliff hanger if they knew they were cancelled. OR, if you're going use it for the first episode make something of it. Make this the cause for his complete disregard of feelings, people and causing his ego trip in the show. He is reset and Penny is like 'Oh no, Uncle Gadget' in such a monotone way when he does need to be restarted.

Does he know her computer book is more than a simple toy? No. Does he know she secretly helps him in almost every case? Also no.
