Karina (Valerina)

Ningning (Ninglerie)

CHAOTIC. They're the closest pair because they've been together since SM Rookie days, and are both fluent in Chinese. MYs love seeing them banter and they call them the Tom and Jerry of the group. Ningning can always rely on Valerie for advice and a shoulder to lean on.

Minjeong was born in Incheon, South Korea.

Her mother is a real estate agent and her father is a teacher.

Her parents divorced in 2012.

Genie went to an audition because she was a fan of 4Minute. The Cube Entertainment building had a similar address to the one of KWS Entertainment, so she walked into the wrong one out of excitement. Inside, she realised it wasn’t Cube, but still auditioned.

Surprised by herself, she got in and started training in 2014. During that time, she attended school and had a difficult time keeping up with school work and being a trainee, making her want to quit, which she thankfully didn’t do.

Minjeong moved into the dorm right away as she wanted to get closer to the other trainees since she was only able to attend the practices after school. At first, her parents were against it and her mother asked her to stay with her, but after seeing how ambitious their daughter was, they agreed to it.

She was the youngest trainee, making the older ones very careful of her. Genie herself said that she felt close to Yoona immediately and felt very comfortable around her. The leader would wake her up every day, so she wouldn’t miss school.

Shortly before debuting with Amour in 2017, she thought about quitting school, but Yoona got mad at her and told her to keep going and helped her with homework and such whenever it got too much for the young girl.

After the bankruptcy in 2020, Minjeong’s mother wanted her to start studying at university, doubting that the group will get back into the industry again, so she did it and started studying Sociology and Social Studies.

She didn’t get a job, but focused on her studies during that time.
