“Can you two please just get a room already?” your brother whined as he rose to his feet. “Or at least stop flirting so openly in front of me. I’m gonna go buy some more drinks and snacks. Figure this out.”
You laughed at your brother’s murmuring as he walked to the front door of your apartment. He’d come over with his newly made friend, Haneul, while out on a short vacation from the military. And while things had started very awkward between the two of you, as the drinks kept getting poured, you both began to loosen up. Then the nonstop flirting started.
From batting eyes at one another to cooing at each other as you ate, it was comical, to anyone who wasn’t your bother at least. Not that you could blame him. It must be rather hard to sit there and watch as your little sister is blatantly flirting with your best friend - while drinking. He’d have to draw a line when got back to the base after the weekend ended. No more flirting with my little sister bro.
“He’s just jealous,” you whispered as you heard the front door shut. “Normally I dote on him quite a bit. He likes feeling needed.”
Haneul laughed, taking a sip from his glass before leaning against the couch, “He never stops talking about you and I can see why. If I had a younger sister who I adored and was incredibly proud of I wouldn’t stop talking about her either. I’d also be irked by the guy she’d be flirting with in my presence though.”
You burst out laughing uttering a small “hypocrite” in between laughs. When you settled down you sighed in contentment. During the few months your brother had been completing his mandatory service, he had been calling regularly and was constantly talking about the things he and Haneul ended up doing causing some extreme secondhand embarrassment on your end. It was nice to finally meet the second half of the comedic duo who could never seem to catch a break.
“You’re really pretty when you laugh,” he complimented after a couple of moments of silence, a light pink dusting of blush spread over his cheeks. “Like really really pretty.”
Your stomach buzzed a little at his compliment, causing you to turn away as you felt your face heat up a bit, not used to getting called pretty out of the blue. Even more embarrassed because you had been flirting with the man with no shame whilst your brother was there but now that he was gone…
“This isn’t the alcohol talking,” he whispered moving a bit closer. “But I think I really like you. And I’m not just saying that for shits and giggles either. I mean it. I think I may have somehow started liking you before I even met you just listening to your brother talk about you.”
Your breath faltered for a split second before a smile graced your face, “I’d laugh and say that’s not possible but then I’d be lying to myself.”
Without missing a beat the two of you continued flirting managing to sneak a few pecks here and there before your brother came back, only to catch the two of you in a rather compromised situation.
“I THOUGHT I SAID GET A ROOM!”

LEGACY PROJECT: FUTURE DREAM S005 ( SCENARIOS )
SCHEDULE TYPE: TRIMESTER / WEEKLY
SCHEDULE RESTRICTIONS: Cannot be paired with another trimester schedule, unless stated otherwise
like mentioned in the sign-ups post, every week ( until JULY 3 ) we will give the contestants one prompt in which you would have to answer in a form of a 300+ WORD SOLO. while you are not required to do these prompts, it is beneficial if you want to earn additional points for the first part of FUTURE DREAMS S5. please note that the point rewards you will get for completing these tasks will be revealed after the first part has been released!
WEEK 2 ( JUNE 12 – JUNE 18 )
several days before JUNE 13, all of the trainees participating in FUTURE DREAMS S5 have been told by the coaches to prepare a ONE MINUTE performance as a preliminary assessment for the show. not much is shared in regards to the assessment except the fact that they will be spending all of JUNE 13 performing and watching the performances. on JUNE 13, all of the trainees head to the auditorium and sit in their designated spots. with a table and nine empty spots in front of them, people begin to question even more who will be watching the performances.
the curtains open and BAE MINWOO, LEE JAMES, and SEO HANKYUNG appear as they perform one of their b-sides from HARU’s current album, ‘THE CAFÉ’. as the three of them sit down in their respective spots, another three enter the stage and it’s KANG WOOHEE, NAM SARANG, and PARK HAEMI. the three members of BLAZING perform their upcoming japanese single ( which will be released on JULY 15TH ), ‘EVERYTHING’. soon after, KIM HYUNBIN, LEE SHINHAE, and SEO HANEUL make their appearance as they perform their movie soundtrack ( that will be released on JULY 2 ), ‘DIAMONDS + AND PEARLS’.
with all nine of the senior artists sitting down, PARK HAEMI takes her microphone and asks whether the trainees were aware of their assignment. after hearing everyone’s responses, HAEMI adds that the trainee will be called one by one ( in random order ) to stand up on stage and before performing they will reveal publicly the senior group that they want to impress. all of the senior idols will be judging the performance based on various categories so it is up to the trainee to find a way to make sure to impress the one they’re most interested in ( and the other artists as well )!
for this, you would need to write a solo about their PERFORMANCE ( you can include your muse’s thoughts with the surprise and all, but the main focus should be on the performance ). because the trainees were notified beforehand about this task, they can bring a musical instrument if they wish for their performance. if you plan on using a song for this performance, you can either use the songs that are canoned ( please refer to the lgcent blog and the senior artists pages for ideas and if you need clarification over what the irl song is, please message the main ) OR songs that were released before JUNE 2019. as for this solo, please use the hashtag lgc:fdscenarios and submit the following form to the lgcpoints blog before JUNE 18, 2022 11:59PM EDT.

A nuclear power plant is built in a rural town, but soon an earthquake causes the power plant to explode, exposing the people to radiation.
Film Affinity
Jae-Hyeok (Kim Nam-Gil) struggles to save his family and country from a nuclear disaster.
Heartbreaking. This movie is HEARTBREAKING!!! I'm still crying. Jesus. If you're like me and you have a very soft, easily shattering heart, but also love pain, I recommend this movie for you!
The film follows mostly the story of Jae-hyeok (Kim Nam-gil) and his family and partners at the nuclear plant during the disaster. It's about the struggle, you know? It's very interesting to see the change in mindset of Jae-hyeok throughout the movie, his own growth as a person, what's inside his heart, what he considers right and wrong and yet what he does regardless- But also the different ways in which people reacts to everything happening around them. From those that run away, to those that decide to stay regardless of the risks, the variety of characters and points of view makes for a really interesting society to analyze. If you like politics, you might find the government's response at the pressure and this new terrifying scenario quite interesting too. (F you, prime minister!)
If so this movie isn't based on real events, it's very easy to actually sympathize and picture the scenario on your own day to day life, the performances help a lot on setting the mood, and the sequences are smooth enough that you don't really miss any details.
Besides the oh so cliche "hero" turn towards the end of the movie, our main character Jae-hyeok stays true to himself, showing that raw emotion that so many times our favorite characters seem to lack.
Overall, would watch again!

the loud blare of the fire alarm rung but ms. kim’s screaming instructions managed to beat the sound. you turn around to glare at jay. you pick up your notebook and throw it to him.
“this is your fault you idiot! if you would have just-” you shout
jay throws the book back at you and it hits your face.
his eyes widen before he tries to contains his laughter “s-sorry i didn’t mean t-too ”
jay bursts our laughing before someone gets a hold of his lab coat.
“YAH WHO ARE YOU- JAKE MY MAN,” jay goes in for a bro-shake
“yeah not right now dude,” jake drags him away outside and jay dramatically puts a hand over his chest and waves goodbye to you.
you roll your eyes before heading out of the door and out the emergancy exit.
a tall penguin’s eyes glance around before seeing your face and letting a sigh of relief. he jogs over to you, “(y/n) don’t scare me like that, i thought you were still stuck in there.”
sunghoon swings his arm over your shoulder. you sigh, “i was stuck in there because jay was arguing about who started the explosion.”
you and sunghoon both glance at the whale cry of jay.
jay was laying on the ground, acting dead while jake was panicking and jungwon rolled his eyes, nudging jay with his foot
“what about him do you like again?”
“i don’t know?”

Haneul was curled up on the couch, her eyes closed as she recalled her time at the Kim Estate in the morning. She had a good time getting to know Sehun's friends, but she still felt lonely, her grip on the couch cushion growing tighter. Vivi was seated in front of her, his eyes on her and whimpering slightly. He could sense how sad she felt, leaping onto the couch and curling up beside her, brushing his tongue along her cheek sweetly.
She opened her eyes, meeting the Bichon's concerned eyes and stroking the white curls of his coat. "I'm okay, boy... just resting..." She knew it was a lie, but she didn't want him or Sehun knowing she was sad.
"Neullie?" Sehun's voice came from the doorway of his study. He had caught her talking to Vivi, making his way toward the living room, where she got into a seated position. "Do you need anything? Food, water?"
She shook her head, remaining silent. Vivi jumped off of the couch so his master could take a seat beside her.
"I meant it when I said everything in this apartment is yours just as much as it is mine," he said. "that also means you can depend on me. If you need anything, let me know. I want you to feel at home."
"Thank you," she bowed her head for a moment. "I'm alright though... really."
"How about we go out?" He suggested, and she tilted her head slightly in confusion.
"Didn't we go out a few hours ago?"
"I want you to meet someone," Sehun stood from the couch, walking toward the coat rack to grab his trench coat. "Come, we'll have a good time, and I want to get some bubble tea."
Bubble tea? She thought with furrowed brows. She found it rather peculiar that a man like him would like such a drink but then again, he had a fluffy dog that looked like a cloud for a pet.
"Vivi's leash is in that basket," he gestured, pulling her out of her thoughts, and she gave another nod, standing from the couch and grabbing the dog's leash, and while she was at it, she went to her room to grab her coat, securing the leash onto the Bichon's collar, ready to leave the apartment.
Sehun took his keys but instead of taking the car, he decided they would walk. "I promise, you'll like her. She's like an older sister to me. She's a little rough around the edges but she'll take care of you too." He opened the door and allowed her and Vivi to step out, still keeping her silence. Haneul began to wonder if this woman was involved in the same work as him. Either way, she wouldn't let her guard down, at least not until she was completely comfortable around Sehun and his friends.

Haneul held onto Vivi's leash as she walked through the city, and Sehun was just a step ahead of her, his hands tucked into the pockets of his trench coat, wearing a handsome smile on his face.
"Where exactly does your friend live?" She asked and he looked over his shoulder, his eyes turning into crescents.
"She owns a book shop which I frequent often. It's just up ahead," he spoke. "And don't worry about her strict expression. She's actually very sweet once you get to know her."
Vivi walked ahead, his tongue out of his mouth when he spotted the shiny brown door of the book shop. The display case revealed many of the latest books that had been put in stock and the sign hung just above the entrance, reading The Revé.
Sehun opened the door, the bell above jingling when he allowed the brunette and his dog to step inside. Haneul could smell dry parchment in the air mixed with red velvet ice cream cake, and rose perfume, the shelves stacked with books as well as the counter.
"Noona!" Sehun called out. "Noona, are you here?"
"Well well," a beautiful voice cane from behind one of the shelves. "This is a surprise, Sehun-ssi. Crawling out of your hidey-hole and actually coming to see me! What's the occasion?"
"You know why," he rolled his eyes playfully. "I want you to meet someone. You know you're just as ruthless as I am, being the Matriarch of your syndicate."
"The word being Matriarch," she put emphasis on the title. "You're Junmyeon's little hitman. There's a difference." She stepped away from the shelf, revealing herself to them—a strikingly beautiful woman with pale skin, long black hair, and a thin, petite physique, her eyes brown and her expression cold and hard. Her lips were painted a rose red, which matched the fitted dress that hugged her frame in all the right places, white heels on her feet.
"Omo..." Haneul mumbled as she took in the older woman's features.
"Neullie, I'd like to meet Bae Joohyun, the Matriarch of the Red Velvet Syndicate," Sehun introduced her to the woman. "Noona, this is Cho Haneul. She's under my protection."
"Sehun, what did I say? It's Irene," She scolded gently, turning her brown gaze toward the girl, which softened immensely, a smile creeping onto her face, and he struck expression had disappeared. "Oh my... What a beautiful doll she is! How on God's green earth did you find her?" She questioned the raven-haired male, wearing her stern expression once again. "Did you do something shady?!"
"Aniya!" He shook his head vigorously, his eyes widening slightly. "One of Wonbin's men put his hands on her and I stopped him before he could—"
"What, so you can put your hands on her too?!" She grunted, and Haneul chuckled sheepishly at their banter, gripping Vivi's leash tighter. "Tell me, did he try anything on you?!" Irene faced her abruptly, concern etched on her face. "Did he touch you inappropriately? Ask you for something?"
"N-No," The girl answered, smiling awkwardly.
"See?! She said no!" Sehun exclaimed with exasperation. "Aish, jinjjah! Noona, what do you take me for?!"
"All he did was ask me to live with him," Haneul explained. "He said his apartment is just as much mine as it is his." Sehun flinched at her words, and he wasn't looking forward to what was coming next.
"Is that so?" Irene smiled sweetly before spinning around and punching the hitman in his gut, knocking the air out of him until he stumbled into the other room, falling onto his knees and coughing for air. "What were ya thinkin', ya pervy bastard! Get outta here! Take a hike!" She yelled in Daegu Satoori, grabbing the door and slamming it shut, leaving him in the adjacent room.
Haneul could hear him groaning with pain, now knowing what he meant about Irene being rough around the edges. She was a tough person, and their relationship was definitely like that of siblings. She wondered if she treated all of the boys in EXO the same way.
"That boy can't think straight sometimes," she huffed, returning to the Seoul dialect, stepping away from the door. "How about some red velvet ice cream cake? I made a new batch today and I certainly can't eat all of it since my girls are out on an assignment. You'll have to finish it with me."
"A-Alright," the brunette said. "Thank you, Irene-ssi..."
"Please, call me Unnie," she gestured for her to follow, speaking cutely toward the white dog beside Haneul. "And Vivi-ssi! I have some treats for you!"
"Is it okay to leave Sehun like that?" Haneul asked.
"It's fine," Irene waved a hand with a laugh, leading her deeper into the store. "I always punch him like that. It does him more good than harm, actually." They entered the kitchen, which was colored white with a wooden table covered by a cherry print table cloth. While Irene gathered treats for Vivi and cut up two slices of ice cream cake, Haneul took a seat, looking around the quaint room with the sunlight shining through. On the walls were several pictured of Irene and four younger women. She had to guess that they were the girls she was referring to a moment ago.
She's like Junmyeon, she thought, still looking around before taking off Vivi's leash to let him walk freely. She's supposed to be a stone-cold leader of a crime syndicate but... she is so normal...
"Here you go," Irene put the plate of ice cream cake in front of her, taking her seat across from the brunette with her own slice and smiling fondly, and Vivi dug into his meal in the corner of the room. "I meant it back there when I said you're beautiful. I've never seen such pretty brown eyes and silky hair. I can see why Sehun has taken a liking to you."
Haneul made a confused sound, her cheeks flaring before she waved her hands in front of her. "Oh, it's not like that at all!" She protested. "He told me about my past, and how I'm the sole survivor of the Cho Clan... and then there's the fact that there are people out to kill me, and those same people were the reason for my Halmeoni's death... he's just protecting me..."
"You sure it's not some scenario where the monstrous softie falls for the beauty?" the older woman teased, giggling uncontrollably before continuing. "I'm okay joking, but you never know what can happen. Things haven't been the easiest for Sehun ever since he became a part of Junmyeon's family."
She stared at the woman, perplexed, but she didn't have to say anything to hear more.
"Sehun was orphaned at a young age. He was taken to the children's home and he wasn't treated well. Then, Junmyeon's father came and adopted him. Ever since then, Sehun had been a part of the EXO syndicate without realizing it," the older woman leaned back in her chair. "It wasn't until he was in middle school that he found out. He would learn to shoot a gun for the first time at that point. Mr. Kim wanted to groom him into the most ruthless hitman in the underworld, and he succeeded. Everywhere the Kim family went, the people had their eyes on the tall, cold man, and he never hesitated to pull the trigger. Sehun's life had always been darkness, but this time, it was like there was no escape."
"I see," Haneul looked down, frowning.
"But now, he has you," Irene pointed out. "I think you're just what he needs to restore that vibrancy he once had. Even now when you two walked in, I saw that eye smile of his, and I haven't seen it in years. The boy has been lonely and he could use a friend right now. All those people he killed and the women he's slept with--they couldn't do a damn thing to take away the darkness in his heart. So you stay close to him, alright? Can you promise me, Haneul?"
She was beginning to understand why he was so desperate to make her stay when her friends dragged her out of his home. He may have had his brothers and she knew there had to be many women he was with in the past, but he was still lonely--living in that apartment with just a dog for company. Haneul began to think she wasn't being considerate of his feelings. She was so caught up in her loneliness and missing her friends when really, Sehun had been alone ever since he was a child. Losing the one family she had left and her life turning upside down didn't compare to what Sehun had been through.
She could feel the guilt seeping into her heart, lifting her head and giving Irene a nod, "I promise."
When this was over, Haneul would apologize to him. I won't ask to see my friends, I won't ask to leave, and I won't ask for anything else... I don't have the right...

"What do you mean she stayed behind?" Hoseok questioned, looking between Jungkook, Bella, and Taehyung. "You're telling me that, out of her own free will, she stayed with him?"
"That's exactly what she did," Jungkook nodded toward the older male. "Neullie said something about not wanting to be the reason why we get hurt."
"Which makes no sense," Taehyung spoke with anger in his tone. "That hitman must have manipulated her into thinking she'll put us in danger! He's preying on her mind because she's still grieving!"
"Okay, but," Yoongi spoke up, seated on the couch and looking toward his friends. "What if he has a point? And this is Neullie we're talking about. She wouldn't make a stupid decision."
"Yah! You can't believe the words of a criminal!" Jin exclaimed, emphasizing with the motion of his arm. "And she is grieving, you know! People always make bad decisions when they're sad!"
"I agree with Yoongi hyung," Namjoon raised a hand. "I don't think she made the wrong decision."
"Namjoon!" Bella protested. "For all we know, he could have taken her somewhere far away and locked her up!"
"But he did help her when that guy attacked her, did he?" Jimin debated. "I don't know much about the EXO Syndicate and how dangerous they are but we have to trust Neullie. She decided to stay to protect us and she's smart. She would have detected some sort of danger right away. Halmeoni taught her to trust her instincts."
"Aish," Taehyung cursed, running his hands through his hair in frustration. He didn't like seeing his friends or his family in danger. The thought of them getting hurt made him uneasy and a man who had the potential for putting Haneul in harm's way was out there, keeping her away from them. "We're getting her back no matter what and we're leaving this hellhole of a city--somewhere where he won't tracking us or her down."
"We can't just leave!" Jimin told him. "We have The Magic Shop to look after!"
"I know," the younger male began. "and trust me, I've stayed here just as long as you have and this has been our home for God knows how many years... but I've reached my limit."
"What do you propose we do then?" Bella wondered, facing her lover.
It was best to start from scratch--start a brand new life away from the violence Seoul was known for. Taehyung didn't hesitate to answer. "We move to Busan."

The café was warm and cozy, the scent of milk, cinnamon, and chocolate permeating the air, accompanied by the chatter of people and soft pop music in the background. The wooden tables were flawless, leaving off a thin sheen from the gold lights after the handsome waiter ran a damp cloth over each surface. Haneul was seated across from Sehun, a cappuccino in front of her with a "heart" latte art, and Vivi was seated by her feet. Sehun had bought himself chocolate bubble tea, and he was currently scrolling through his phone.
"Aish... you know that hurt, right?" He said to her. "What Noona did to me, I mean..."
"You kind of deserved it," Haneul spoke softly.
"Ah, not you too," he pouted, looking up from his phone and at her now. "Don't tell me she's made you rough around the edges too!"
"She just gave me ice cream cake," she shrugged, smiling innocently.
"No wonder you agree with her," Sehun leaned back and sunk in his chair, putting his phone down. "Anyway, you haven't your coffee. You don't like it?"
"I'm just waiting until it cools down a bit," Haneul replied, her hands in her lap and her eyes on the table before continuing, "Um... Sehun...?"
"Yeah?" He inquired, smiling at her now. It still made him sad that she was still so closed off from him. He could tell how tense she was, but he knew she was trying. The way her hair fell around her, the slight movement of her arms indicating she was turning her hands in her lap. He wanted to reach out and tuck her hair behind her ears, hold her hands--anything to ease her. "What is it, Neullie?"
"I'm sorry," she apologized, her eyes closing her and shoulders dropping, her expression helpless. "Irene unnie told me you've been having a hard time. I should have been more considerate of your feelings instead of saying terrible things to you... I wasn't being fair to you when all you want is to protect me."
Sehun mulled over her words, chuckling softly and leaning forward, tilting his head to the side, "You don't have to apologize. I'm the one who scared you. Maybe I did deserve that punch because now that I think about it, I was following you around, which is a bit stalkerish..."
"But Junmyeon told you to," she protested. "It wasn't like you had bad intentions."
"Maybe not, but nothing can properly explain why the hitman of EXO suddenly appeared to kill someone before he could touch you," he pointed out. "There's nothing to apologize for. All I ask is that you stay safe," he looked down for a moment in contemplation before adding. "and I'll even let you see your friends and work at The Magic Shop. All you had to do was ask. I'm not going to keep you locked away in that apartment. I know firsthand what it feels like to be lonely."
She was taken aback, opening her eyes to meet his, her lips parted slightly. The guilt was beginning to seep in, shame stirring in the pit of her stomach, and Haneul closed her mouth, tears stinging at her waterline. She sniffled, looking down again and doing everything in her power to stop her tears, but it was all in vain. She broke into silent sobs and began to wipe away at her tears. He's so nice to me and I judged him too quickly... I'm so pathetic.
Sehun watched her with surprise. clearing his throat and pulling out a handkerchief from his slacks. He extended his hand, offering it to her, "Gwenchana... please don't feel bad," he spoke like he had read her thoughts. "You've been through a lot and you've shed a lot of tears too... it's only normal that you won't trust someone after everything you've been through..."
She pulled her hand away from her face, accepting the handkerchief with a bow of gratitude and cleaning up her face, "Gomawo... I feel like an idiot...
"You're not," he assured her. "Please don't cry. You're prettier when you smile."

Step by Step - BTS Fan Fiction (Chapter 4)
Chapter 4 - 2k word count
"Haneul, you're biting your nails."
I snapped back to my senses with these words. A voice belonging to Young Jae echoes throughout the dimly lit, empty cafe space as he returns to his conversation on his phone with his girlfriend. After the meeting with Mr. Kim Chul Soo we've reached the decision that waiting in the cafe was the best option was for us to sit out the whole day in the cafe until it's late at night when all the crowds have left so avoid as much public contact as possible. It was also a safety concern for both ourselves and... The reputation of BTS... the CCTVs in the cafe made sure we weren't leaving anytime soon. It would've been bad if we were mobbed by overly passionate fans but... even worse in the values of BigHit to have us blabber about something else that may lead to more public outrage. How these values came to be absolutely baffled me... Although, I do admit I can see why any celebrity's livelihood would easily outweigh mine any day of the week.
I could feel my senses dulling as I drearingly sipped on my 4th latte of the day. There wasn't much I could do with my phone gone, probably sold off somewhere by now. Apart from some ridiculously old phone games, which I grew bored of within minutes, Young Jae was the only form of entertainment that I had around me all day and he's starting to wear out as well. Sleep didn't come to me at all despite how tired I felt, all the adrenalin from running through the endless scenarios of what may happen soon kept me all too awake and aware of the world that I lived in right now. The company phone ringing jolts me from my stupor. "Must be someone coming to pick us up" I thought to myself. As suspected it was a call from Mr. Kim Chul Soo himself telling us where our car is waiting for us and the plate number.
Young Jae and I left the building promptly after calling up our boss to join us. Young Jae and I were exhausted from this eventful and tiring day despite the fact that we haven't even moved around a fraction as much as we would've on any normal day. Carefully slinking about the narrow streets even though most of the crowds in Itaewon have already went home was just a precaution Young Jae and I made, we've decided today was enough exposure for a lifetime. We arrive at a black van with the same car plate mentioned to us earlier and receive confirmation from the driver that we're supposed to be the people that he's picking up. There was no awkwardness or excitement about being picked up by staff and a vehicle owned by BigHit. I've hardly ever been in a car since my time here in Seoul, nevermind such a nice one. If it wasn't for the fact that this car ride was sending me to what may possibly be the most stressful meeting I'd ever face in my entire life, I might've actually enjoyed it.
After a short drive we arrive and pull up outside the BigHit office building. I've never seen photos of the new building and it blends in inconspicuously with the other buildings around the area, no signs to signal unwanted eyes. We were guided up and into a medium sized meeting room by the man who drove us here, taking no chances for us to wander off by ourselves. Is this how it feels like to be under arrest? As we sit I notice how the bright fluorescent lights highlighted the dark circles underneath Young Jae’s eyes. I could only imagine that mine look worse. The man who drove us over asked if we would like some tea and the three of us lightly declined the offer. I’d personally would much prefer if they let us leave and go home without further ado.
Mr. Chul Soo enters the room wordlessly and holds the door open as Suga enters the room, lips pursed tight in an emotion which I could only read as a mixture of annoyance, exhaustion and guilt. Jin follows in a similar fashion as the previous. The men all sit down opposite of us, Suga and Jin meeting all of our eyes and giving us all each a polite nod. I nod back in return as Mr. Kim Chul Soo begins speaking to signal the beginning of the end of this entire fiasco.
“I hope you don’t mind as I record this meeting as I did before, I’ll also be typing up the conclusions we will reach tonight on my laptop so we get an agreement signed within the next couple of hours.” We all promptly nod and the meeting began. The air in the meeting room was thick with tension especially from me as I was expecting the most repercussion from the matter at hand… Just because I happened to be a girl…
“Let’s hear about Jin’s side of the story first, may I also add that your little late night venture was unauthorized by your manager.” Said Chul Soo expectedly
Jin cleared his throat before he began and sat up straight in his chair before he began speaking, as if he prepared this speech prior to this meeting.
“Well, you see, I was left quite hungry after our rehearsals that day. I was also finding it hard to adapt to our diet back then as we just began training up from our off season.” He flashed a look at Suga before returning to his speech, “As Namjoon suggested this cafe to us before, I was excited to go as it was a nice walking distance from our house and… I just asked Yoongi to come along with me. I know it was my fault for taking pictures with the staff together but… I…”
Chul Soo cut through as Jin trailed off, “Ok I get the idea, Suga?”
“It wasn’t really much to be honest, it happened as how Jin said it. It’s not like you guys don’t know we already sneak out for food, it just came out badly this time.” Suga said a matter of factly. Chul Soo took a deep breath in, seemingly done with Suga’s careless tone.
“I believe that this situation can be resolved easily with this newly added information. Mr Jung, let us step out for a few moments please.” The two men then left to discuss outside the room, voices muffled, leaving the four of us sitting in awkward silence.
Only now do I realize that I’m casually sitting across two internationally renowned celebrities, whom I’ve admired from afar and now I get to see them close up. Although the situation was far less from ideal I began noticing things about them which you can’t unless if you’ve met them up close, without all the makeup, costumes and lights. Although Jin’s skin was smooth and barely had any blemishes, it was just blooming a pinkish tinge around his eyes, nose and cheeks, a common result of sensitive skin. Suga had the palest skin I’ve ever seen, I know many people would kill for such a fair complexion. Despite his skin being pale there were imperfections about him, a light sheen of oil can be seen on his forehead through his bangs all the way down his nose and along his cheekbones. Small spots darkened from acne could be seen along his jawline and neck. It wasn’t until now that I was able to see them as… people. Suga then began speaking.
“I’m sorry we didn’t decline the photos, it would’ve been all cleared up by now if we kept you out of the photo.”
“Ah no, don’t worry so mu-”
“It’s technically a violation of our contract. It’s here to protect both sides but… I’m sorry. I felt rude to mention it at the time but I guess that just made it worse. I just want to apologize if I came off as rude earlier, I’m not very good at talking until I’ve gathered all my thoughts together.”
Everyone around the table pursed their lips together, I never thought far enough for something in BTS’ contracts would also be in place to protect fans’ privacy. The fact that I now know these boys had a responsibility to refuse the pictures in the first place made me feel a little bit better about my own mess up but… Also more depressing to know that they’re not free of their job’s duties even in their own time.
Mr Kim and Mr Jung then entered the room shortly and showed us the document which we had to sign. It dictated something around the usual of what I would expect, we do not discuss what happened whatsoever, the pictures are deleted from Young Jae’s phone, we don’t say anything against the official statement to be released later etc. There were arguably some grey areas but there was just one question that itched at the back of my mind.
“Does that mean BTS can’t return to our cafe anymore?” I said aloud. Chul Soo replied with a question of his own.
“Why do you want them to return? Even after all this nasty trouble?”
“I…” I gulped, “I want to be able to offer them a safe space, protect them from prying eyes and give them peace in return for their hard work. I hope that the cafe becomes a comfort to them.” I don’t know what came over me at this moment but the most heartfelt of words came to me. I so longed to be able return the gratitude that I have for these boys. Not only from the fact that they tried to apologize to me when shit hit the fan but also for being there for me in their music. For supporting me, communicating to me and saving me in my worst of times. No matter if I can give them everything money can buy in the world or if it’s only the comfort of a cup of coffee which I can provide to them then so be it.
“Well I ca-”
“The agreement never stated it explicitly.” Suga cut in,
The whole table went quiet as Chul Soo nodded and pushed the documents towards the three of us. We quickly signed the documents and which an exhale, I could slowly feel life returning to normal. Jin let out a yawn, quickly covered by a hand with crooked fingers, signalling the end of a long day.
We were ushered to leave together by Chul Soo and as I exited the room I felt a hand squeezing my shoulder. I looked back, expecting to see Young Jae standing behind me but instead I see it’s Jin who did so. He simply looked ahead as if he did it out of habit, weird. We got down to the lobby of the building and bowed to each other to say goodnight and bid each other goodbye. Young Jae, Mr Jung and I got into the same car which picked us up and were each driven home one by one, I was the last one still in the car as I lived the furthest out from the city. I thought back on what I said earlier about why I wanted BTS to keep visiting the cafe and I couldn’t help but smile bittersweetly at my feelings. As if my heart beats suddenly became painstakingly overbearing for me I felt hollow thuds pulling at my being with each beat. It must just be from the exhaustion I thought to myself, it’s stupid to think that I’d be feeling sad over something so trivial. I arrive soundly at the building which my apartment block is in and thank the staff who drove me and make my way up into the building, into the simple yet comforting little nest I’ve made for myself here. Flopping down onto my mattress, “Everything will be better when I wake up tomorrow” I think to myself as I close my eyes.
