She understands him better because of it, sees just how the gloves are made. She can't touch him but touches the thing that's closest and most intimate to him. She finds what keeps him sane and returns it to him. It's nearly erotic without being sexual, don't you think?

I in fact think about this an awful lot. For me, there are two specific details about Inej putting Kaz's gloves on that feel very intimate and the first is her own hesitance to do so. She talks about how she knows that Kaz would tell her to just get on with it but that she feels as though she's violating his privacy by taking them - I don't have my book on me but I'm pretty sure she says it feels like going into his rooms and rifling through his belongings without permission. The second thing that feels incredibly intimate to me when I read this scene is that when Inej notices that the gloves are unlined and have thin slashes in the fingertips she realises that this is so he can maintain contact with cards or coins or so on when pickpocketing and performing slight of hand and she describes it as "touch without touch". TOUCH WITHOUT TOUCH.

INEJ WEARING KAZ'S GLOVES IS TOUCH WITHOUT TOUCH. THEY ARE SO CLOSE AND YET THEY ARE SO FAR AWAY FROM EACH OTHER and I'm pretty sure that it's after this scene once they're on the roof together that Inej says it's the first time they've touched skin on skin (though please correct me if I'm wrong) so this is the closest they've ever got to touching before!!!!!!!!!!

I can’t wait for Kanej to reunite so that Inej gets stabbed and Kaz carries her all the way to the ship without his cane and proceeds to remove Oomen’s eye with his bare hands cause he can't handle the thought of losing her again.

six of crows fans are so insane that they could see kaz and inej make eye contact once and go “oh my GOD. THEY SHOULD GET MARRIED. THAT EYE CONTACT WAS SO POETIC. I WANT A LOVE LIKE THIS.” but if they ever kissed everyone would go “HOW COULD THEY. this is a TRAVESTY. they RUINED kanej. i am NEVER buying a book EVER again.”

It seems to me that we are all a little too obsessed with them.

More little details that you might have missed/forgotten about in Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom

(Part 4, I think)

1) When Bahjan said that if she didn’t eat anything he would have to force-feed her, Inej’s immediate reaction was to reply that if he tried then she’d but his fingers off and honestly I just love that so much what a damn icon

2) It also took Inej all of five minutes to become suspicious that Bajhan and Alys were having an affair, and there are several instances later in the book that heavily imply her to be correct

3) When Jesper was a kid and first realised that he could pull colour from objects, his first instinct was to bleach a massive swear word across his father’s jurda field; this will never fail to amuse me

4) In the first chapter of Six of Crows, Leigh has Joost wish that Anya’s eyes were blue instead of brown because they would be easier to compliment, then spent the rest of two novels having Kaz and Inej internally describe and compliment each other’s brown eyes over and over again - it gets me every time

5) When Colm first arrives in Ketterdam and Jesper is terrified to tell him the truth of what’s going on, Wylan panics and makes up a lie about being duped out of their money. He also immediately takes the blame, claiming that he suggested to Jesper that they took a deal that turned out to be false. Not only is this linking to the point the books like to bring across about the best lies being close to the truth by referencing the deal with Van Eck going south, but it’s also a heartbreaking nod to Wylan’s trauma when he internally explains his reasoning for doing it; that he couldn’t bare the idea of Colm’s stress and confusion turning to anger that he would take out on Jesper. We as the reader know Colm to be a wonderful man and a far cry from Van Eck, and although Wylan quickly learns this in that exact moment it’s a dark nod to the paralysing fear he had of his own father because of the abuse he suffered, and the terror that every parent is like that and he has to put himself in the way to protect Jesper.
