I swear to actual Gog no nom-transfem outside of Tumblr actually understands June as a character and it will be the death of me. If I see another cavalcade of people turn up at the slightest mention of her name saying "ohhh I don't see it, I don't think it makes sense, tbh it'd just be better if they didn't at this point" I'm going to turn into the Joker. I read further down on that "June would be better as a trans guy imo I'm not transmisogynistic I mean femtransphobic" reddit thread and it made me want to become a nomad wandering the Appalachian peaks
Yeah like I'm gonna be real. I think entering fandom and using characters as nothing more than a source for projection really screws up your actual reading of the text (said as someone who has done that before!) And if you're unwilling to let go of that interpretation, you're going to be operating in a fundamentally different reality than everyone else who bothers to read the text.
June at this point is on the edge of becoming canon. She's been "canon" for years now, the evidence and reading of June as transfem has been thoroughly documented and discussed. She is a thing. That is happening. And while Homestuck often draws in fandom ideas and discussion, it's rarely going off of things that weren't at least partially in the text themselves.
I don't hold all of Homestuck's text as scripture. My distaste for, say, transmasc Roxy, has been growing as I actually began to read and understand more. And if people want good transmasc readings, there are plenty of great options! Jane, Dirk, Aradia and Nepeta are all wonderful examples of strong transmasc readings. I'd say there are, on the whole, maybe fewer than transfem readings, just because Homestuck is a very transfeminine story. It's about trying to escape and defeat the ultimate force of masculinity that pervades and lords over the story, contrasted by the Space aspect, which has some of the most transfeminine goddamn characters in the whole comic (even a basically canonical one in Calliope). It's a story with Vriska Goddamn Serket in it for the love of god!!!!
Also not to get too deep into the weeds but arguments like "well she actually admired her dad a lot and wanted to be like him" seem to forget the Literal Familial Strife he had with his dad every day, or the fact that his dad always seems to be a bit of a sore subject, or maybe, perhaps, John is not always being one hundred percent honest about his feelings about his father who died when he was thirteen. Honestly, even outside of a transfeminine interpretation, it's just a deeply surface-level reading of John.

I've seen multiple people relate Vox and Alastor's relationship to Batman and Joker's relationship (mainly from the Lego Batman movie)...and ngl, I do kinda get it and giggle at it. Maybe their relationship isn't exactly like Batman and Joker's, but I can definitely see their comparison...with Vox being Joker and obsessed with getting Batman (and this case Alastor's) attention, regardless if it's negative, positive, or even healthy to be so determined to get this one fucker's attention, no matter what kind it is. And with Batman/Alastor not reciprocating Vox/Joker's feelings, where Batman/Alastor don't crave the others attention all the time unlike Vox/Joker's obsession for it from them (I hope that made sense)
Makes me think of the term "Kismesissitude/pitch romance" I saw mentioned on another RadioStatic post and after looking it up and went "...huh, that actually kind fits them ngl"

also people who haven't read homestuck discovering kismesissitude for the first time is so funny (I read it back in 2016. so let's just say I have known it for a while LMAO) but yes it was actually in fact one of my first thoughts when it came to this ship on vox's side. I refused to let the homestuck seep through but ultimately I just can't escape it can I. (I said it in one of my reblog tags once but if defined in homestuck terms: I'd say it started as red feelings then became black feelings that vacillate to red sometimes post-rejection BUT I REFUSE TO TALK ABOUT THIS IN HOMESTUCK TERMS AT LENGTH.)

I think I may have been the first of the blogs to get interacted with by the muppet joker, as I received an ask from him relatively early into my blogs tenure and simply let it steep until the other folk started hitting his line and interacting with him. That being said!
No fucking clue who that dude is.
I assumed it was all a very elaborate bit since it's all within the same realm of internet-referencing (particularly, tumblr related internet-referencing in the realm of making wide gestures towards things like tumblr sexymen and error sans from error(??) undertale) bullhockey as every ambitious blog parodying weird fetishes. In combination with his interests being specifically two bastions of internet memes, the joker and kermit the frog, I think he's just a guy who's really committed to the bit.
That also being said.
I got an ask saying he'd gone crazy and was actually doing crazy shit, so. I don't know! Maybe he is just a genuine guy. But I sure don't know who he is and he sure didn't have anything to do with my stuff.

my advice is add on to the design over time and not all at once. its way easier that way. draw a base w a tee shirt n reg old pants if u cant think of an outfit, think of a hairstyle you like to wear the most, fav color/ a color that ends up coming up a lot in your life (maybe you wanna go off of homestuck's thematic colors).
as for a kid symbol, u dont have to think too deeply about it. infact its best if u dont. 5/8 kids have merch tees of some kind that are maybe slightly altered. the others are just something related to their hobbies :] it would work perfectly fine if u have a shirt you like wearing a lot that has a simple design that u just wanna transfer into ur sona.
w a specibus, the kids w normal (ish) home environments used shit they just had around to fight with. i got (garden) shear-kind and a joker-kind for gags and goofs. what's the first thing u would use as a weapon if shit started to go down at ur house :]
u can flesh out the details the more u draw them, or if u dont know what to draw them doing u can edit/ redraw a panel with them doing something. id recommend drawing the stylized sprite after when u got an idea of what u want to do w ur hair. that shit is ROUGH.

Here is another moment of Jane casting doubt on her abilities. And here's where Dirk talks.. about his ancestor for the first time. You know what I guess I can bring up the post where I went over.. dirks jealousy of Dave and self internalisation of that hate? To be honest I'm surprised it got the attention it did. Its been something that I thought about for so long but I never brought it up because it felt and still does to a merit "taboo". Nobody really talks about what admiration can do on the flip side, how it can make you measure yourself up, make you feel attached in a way that provides you with a flip flop between intense aspiration to despisal and envy.
Except.. that isn't exactly true. As I pointed out before, Jane casts doubt on her ability to live up to her ancestors legacy, even if it's just a joking legacy.

I'm not going to provide screenshots, but this is where Seb starts getting antsy, and Dirk says that Jane will be the leader of their group, drawing parallels to page 2682 where John and Rose are talking about their null session, unable to get any further.

This reads to me a lot as something he orchestrated, something he thought up to look cool, but what's the point of saying all this shit when you say afterwards you're just going to say that she's controlling none of it and really it's just you (which really, in the end it wasn't). Jane points out a pretty good point about there not being a true LEADER leader, and Dirk just plows on. He proceeds to have a long and eyeroll worthy emphasis about how much he can serve, how good he is at it, how Jane only has to call and he'll come to the rescue, not to worry at ALL. I mean i have to laugh. Here he is emphasising how much he can serve and he can't. He can't at all. Pushing someone in a direction does not always equal helping. His suggestions are befitting his aspect sure, but doesn't always mean it's the right solution!

Please, bare with me, this is something I thought literally NOW and I will phrase it so badly etc, but I need people to see my revelations (or say that I'm stupid idk).
One thing I ALWAYS criticized about Homestuck Act 6 (and that other criticized about the Epilogues - that I've not read, so don't take me for it), is the way Terezi changed DRASTICALLY and became, generally, more shitty.
From the cool, funny friend with a strong personality and humor, to a whiny, depressed girl defined by her only two relationships - the kismessitudine with Gamzee and her "obsession" with Vriska, and I criticized it (the Vrisrezi relationship) being pale too. I thought it was forced, counting their early interactions.
As a pale relationship lover, I'm embarassed to say that I completelly forgot THIS line:
Yes, of course I remembered that moirails complement each others. Not necessarely in a literal, but more on a "you have this big problem within you, and I can be the solution" -way.
What I forgot is that moirails are not something strictly voluntary. Moirails don't just want *to be* the solution to their partners, they *need* to, it's instinct.
And I might totally just spacing out and stuff, but I think most of Terezi's behaviour during Act 6 can be boiled to the simple "she didn't have Vriska with her". And Vriska will become her moirail. Do you see where I'm going with this?
I used to be REALLY bothered by it, I thought it was lazy writing and shitty attempt to romance, but my eyes right now - at almost fucking midnight - are open (help me).
Terezi and Vriska *do* complement each other! I always described their relationship, jokingly, as "Batman and Joker (but Batman isn't the best person either)", I didn't thought HOW fitting this description could be. No wonder why Terezi was so obsessed with Vriska and finding her etc etc, Terezi is the <<even-tempered troll>> of the relationship! She *needs* to be with Vriska because that's what her fucking instincs are telling her! No wonder why Terezi seemed to off during Act 6, doing stupid stuff without proper thinking and such - like, idk, ENTERING A REALLY TOXIC KISMESSITUDE WITH GAMZEE?? - she had her moirail-mode on fucking 600000 and nobody to vomit it to!
I theorize her relationship with Gamzee was a sort of "desperate call" to her pale desire (look how poetic I am), since we know moirails refrain each other from doing pretty fucking dumb things. And her gaining back her sight can be read as it too!
I'm REALLY hoping I'm not being a "late to the party" kind of person, like I hope I'm not so stupid that everyone realized it before but me---
Anyways, I still don't ship Vrisrezi as moirails, but I understand it now. And I understand Terezi previous behaviour too, the one that I used to hate so much (if I'm not just reading all of this wrongly - could be the case really, it's late ;v;).

This initially sounded like Kanaya wasn't sure if she wanted any kind of relationship with Vriska, but in retrospect, it's clear she was just confused about the type of relationship she wanted.
The post quoted above is my analysis of Equius and Nepeta's relationship. We now know, more or less, the 'reason' that she puts up with him - but I'm still not convinced she should.
For sure - it would have highlighted their relationship as a moirallegiance a lot earlier than the comic did.
I probably wasn't going to guess that they were moirails, though - hell, I still probably wouldn't be able to guess it, if it hadn't been explicitly stated!
I think moirallegiance is romantic. It exists under the umbrella of troll romance, after all. I just think it's also platonic - a contradiction that would confuse a human, but would make perfect sense to a troll.
Not a problem! Shipping dynamics are confusing enough when we're just talking about one type of relationship.
'The Joker has a pitch crush on Batman' is not the take I expected to see in my inbox, but damn if it doesn't make sense.

Doof and Perry are clearly moirails, with Perry as the pacifier. His calming influence is obvious, as Doof's 'villainy' gradually becomes more and more benign throughout the show, and their relationship becomes increasingly casual.

I wonder what the demographics are around troll orientations, actually. It seems as if you can form a kismesis/matesprit pair with a troll of any gender, so maybe trolls are predominantly pansexual.
Honestly, these symbols are very useful. The quadrants are surrounded by an overwhelming amount of terminology, so it's good to have them as shorthand. Equius♦Nepeta, Kanaya♥Rose, etc.

Equius might be fucked up, but he has mechanisms and strategies to not take it out on anyone around him.
There's also CC, the only high-blood whose disposition remains a relative unknown. We've just been semi-officially introduced to her, though, so we'll probably be seeing more of her soon.
Anyway, you're right - Equius has his coping mechanisms, and the implication is that he could be a lot worse. We haven't seen Nepeta act as his moirail yet, but maybe she's been doing so offscreen.

To Equius, Gamzee is a friend with weird caste system baggage that he isn't sure how to deal with. Plus, he's clearly into him, although I can't figure out in which quadrant.
Yeah, I guess it's always possible that a 'typical' auspistice doesn't need much social ability. When you get right down to it, all you really need to do is keep the warring parties apart, so anything beyond that might cross the line into advanced auspisticism.
Maybe a 'meddler' like Kanaya is indeed a rarity, which would make per a particularly popular auspistice. Like I said, there aren't a lot of trolls around with a disposition like hers.
I haven't decided yet if I'll be liveblogging anything after Homestuck - but I've added it to the list of prospective projects. We'll see how I feel when Homestuck is finished with, in late 2034.
