when ghost came back from deployment he had just got paid and of course wanted to treat his darling wifey. he took you to the mall and you began shopping picking out some clothes before finding some adorable flared jeans. you picked them in your size before heading to the dressing room with simon trailing behind, two bags in hand.

you pulled on the flared jeans they only got to your thighs. you pulled them off checking the label it was your size.. they just didn’t fit. you tried again and it only got to a quarter over your ass.

‘eveythin’ okay in there?’ simon asks through the curtain he kept shut for you. not trusting it.

‘no…’ you admitted, a little bit of frustration growing.

he opened the curtain and walked in before shutting the curtain. he looked down seeing how it didn’t go. ‘they don’t fit,’ you tell him looking up with glassy eyes. you were always this size, yeah maybe you put on some christmas weight but still you never went up.

‘so? get ya the bigger one, no big deal,’ he tells you as if it was nothing. because it was nothing, just some overthinking and stressing. si left and got you the bigger size before returning. he handed you the new trousers before putting the new ones on.

‘they fit?’ he asks in a mutter, you were never to keen on everyone knowing your business. he came in to the little dresser seeing them. he had a half smirk at the way the jeans fit your ass, your curves looked great. ‘see no big deal,’ he smiles at you.

you smiled, it was no big deal it was a pair of jeans and so what if you got the bigger size? you looked stunning and you always look stunning.

In TG 86 Ice flew the mission right? And who saved the day, Mav… as spare.

While I was in the shower it hit me that Mav knew that he could fly with Bradley (Ice coded) so who would Mav trust to save the day if he needed it? Jake (Mav coded).

SO!!!!!

Bradley was presented as the Ice coded character between the two of them. He’s slow but perfect. Methodical, aloof and arrogantly pulled back. Has friends but keeps the at the distance and butts head WITH Mav over trivial things but also thinks Mav is reckless and dangerous. Bradley also dislikes Jake, or at least has a rivalry with Jake based on the unpredictable nature and recklessness that Jake flies with. Bradley also doesn’t have a problem with calling Jake out on his flying (“you’ll someone to an early grave” which mirrors “yeah I have a problem, you’re dangerous”).

WHERE Jake is presented as the Mav character. Loud, charming, the center of attention. Hated for his talented ALSO!!! Uses songs to convey feelings (throw back to Mav singing to Charlie and Jake playing Slow Ride). Jake also flies like Mav (fast, carefree, leaves his wingmen- Mav even commented on that). Jake also KNOWS that he’s reckless dangerous and wears it like a badge of honor. (“We’ll anyone who follows you will just run out of gas. But that’s just you, ain’t it Rooster?” Mirroring “you’re right, Iceman, I am dangerous”).

Jake flying spare wasn’t saying that Bradley’s the better pilot or even a comparison on their talent, it was a direct reflection OF their talents. Jake can pull off insane flying but he’s unpredictable and thrives in environments where he can improvise and rely on himself. Where Bradley thrives where he has a plan and can be perfect. They’re both insanely talented but in different ways.

So Bradley who is Ice and Goose, the two people Mav knows he flies well with, Mav would pick him as the wingman because Mav can predict that and trust Bradley in the sky like he trusted Ice. BUT!!!! Mav would trust that someone like himself would be able to save the day because he SAVED the day. Which is why he would put Jake in as the last defense. Because Bradley could NEVER fly spare where Jake could NEVER fly wingman because Ice is a wingman and Mav is the savior.

And I think that it’s so cool.

What is your opinion about the ending of Miraculous?

(I'm using this ask as my chance to talk about both episodes as a whole, not just the ending-- spoilers ahead!)

My thoughts on these two episodes are mixed, but positive overall. :)

Over all, I enjoyed the episodes. It was fun, the action and animation were great, and there are parts that I really really loved that are being adopted into all my kwami headcanons right now and no one can stop me. I was worried with how the season would end based off of some things I heard, and was prepared for the worst-- but these were enjoyable episodes to watch.

However I will not lie that I am not happy with how some characters were handled. I'm sorry but I will never be happy with Gabriel being seen as a hero, and the fact that Adrien wasn't there or even told what happened?? Gabriel getting a statue?? Gabriel acting like he cared about Adrien when he clearly didn't?? No... just no, its not right or fair. I could go on about this all day, but I won't as there's a lot to say about these episodes.

Adrien not getting a role in this finale I am mad at. Him being left in the dark about what happened I'm also not happy with, HOWEVER... seeing Marinette's age, mindset, and everything she's been through... I don't feel that her actions were out of character. I can see a young teenager under pressure wanting to protect the one she loves from a horrible reality. I'm not saying her keeping the truth from him is right, but I can see how it fits into the narrative. As long as the fact that this lie was told is addressed in the future (and the weight it will no doubt put on Adrien) and not just brushed aside, then I won't get up in arms about this scene yet, and I will wait to see how its handled in the future.

Last small little tiny thing is Felix. Like... it feels out of character for him to just be like "yeah hero team!" and for the hero team to be like "yeah Felix!" Feel like more should have been addressed on Felix's character as a whole.

Okay-- enough about the negative-- onto all the awesome parts about these episodes! :D

First of all-- hero team!! Full time holders!! Saved kwamis (I'm so sorry Nooroo that you're still out there you deserve so much better!!) I love it, this is what we needed, and I hope the identity rules ease up among the heroes after this.

Next Nathalie. Oh Nathalie, the queen, amazing-- 11/10 this episode. She full on goes in dying and is ready to shoot Gabriel with a crossbow?? Like girl, you're amazing!! I'm glad to see that she is better now, she deserves it. Anyways I love her.

Adrien getting his amok-- yes, finally.

Marinette's Ladybug and Black Cat unification was a lot of fun. Its too bad the name Lady Noire was already taken, but I loved this whole fight. A piano being dropped on Gabriel's head, Gabriel's reaction to Marinette being Ladybug. Marinette beating Gabriel and just summoning all the Luck Charms... she was a boss. I loved the checkmate scene. I love how she did try to reach out to Gabriel (not that he deserves a second chance but Marinette is just a sweetheart). I loved Gabriel's betrayal to her with a Vemon because it was his last in character moment, I loved that we got to see all the other characters in action. The classmates, Fei and the New York heroes. All great scenes.

Now finally onto the gold of these episodes: THE KWAMIS. Hehehehe they were amazing, they were beautiful. Yes give me all their true forms, give me Gimmi (hehe) they look SO cool and epic. I originally thought I wouldn't like a true-form kwami or a fusion form of them but never mind they're glorious they are my children we need true forms for all the kwamis look at how powerful they are!!

And how the Wish works... I never really liked the whole "destroy the universe and create a new one" idea they had going on in other episodes, and I'm so glad they went with an equal price. And maybe destroy and remake the universe still has a role in it all but give me the green strawberries as a price. The whole Wish scene with how it works and the true form of the kwamis was fantastic and I love it so much.

*gasp! If you had your own home you could put your plushies wherever you want! Like the living room!

The problem with streaming

Okay first of all, I’m not an expert on this subject. Secondly, I am not the first person to say this. I’m just writing it down because these thoughts just keep bouncing around in my head. Thirdly, there are many, many problems with streaming, many of which are being discussed right now, but this one just seems like the Big One to me, especially as someone who is not a writer or an actor, but a mere consumer of content. 

So one of the main reasons for the current writers and actors strike is streaming, and the fact that these workers do not make residuals on streaming because the studios don’t have to license out the different shows and movies like they did before streaming. This is because each major studio has their own streaming service, and their content is exclusively streamed through their own platform. 

From a glance, this can seem like a competitive market, right? Peacock is competing wit Hulu which is competing with Netflix and so on. All of them are in competition, which means that this is a healthy market, not run by monopolies. Right? 

Wrong. 

In the current system, each studio has a monopoly over their own catalogue. Netflix has a monopoly on Stranger Things, Disney has a monopoly on The Mandalorian, etc. This means that none of these studios are actually competing, because they know if you want to watch any particular show, you have to watch it on the platform that made it. That gives the studios the incentive to make as much new content as possible to try and make a show that attracts new viewers. As has been pointed out many times, this means that shows get cancelled after just a couple of seasons, because people don’t usually sign up for a streaming subscription for the third season of something. They sign up when the first season comes out and there’s a big buzz. 

The other effect this has, the effect that is felt more on the consumer side of things, is that there is also little to no incentive to improve the quality of the streaming platform itself. If you want to watch Stranger Things, you have to go to Netflix (or stream illegally), no matter how poor Netflix’s actual streaming platform is. As long as it actually streams the content, that’s good enough for the studio. That’s why you rarely see streaming platforms make any big updates to their platforms other than fixing bugs. 

So what is the solution to this? Well, in my opinion, it’s obvious, and also very unlikely to happen. Streaming services should not be allowed to have a monopoly on the properties they own the rights to. Now, they should still hold the licensing rights, but they shouldn’t be able to be the exclusive streaming rights of a property. Not sure if I’m using the correct terminology, but basically, I think that if Netflix makes a show, they have to allow other other streaming services to purchase it. The other streaming services would have to pay Netflix to stream it, but those other studios would do that because more content on their platforms can only benefit them. Say you really want to watch Ted Lasso, but you don’t want to subscribe to Apple TV+ (and you don’t want to pirate it) for just one show. What if they bought streaming rights to a show that they assume has a similar audience, in order to convince people to sign up, say Parks and Rec. That may be more of a draw for a larger audience. Not sure what this would look like, if there would have to be some objective way of valuing properties and then enforcing that starting price, so the owners of the licensing rights can’t just charge more than anyone is willing to pay. 

This would force studios to sell the streaming rights to other streaming services, thus giving people who worked on those shows or movies residuals. Now, it still wouldn’t be the same as pre-streaming television, where you would get paid for every airing, but I think it would at least be an improvement on the current situation. Also, each season of a show should be licensed separately, so every streaming platforms have to pay for the streaming rights for each individual season. These changes would incentivize: 

-Creating longer running shows. I imagine it would be easier to sell the licensing rights to an established show, than a brand new show with no established audience. 

-Improving the streaming platforms themselves. Have you ever been annoyed about the fast forward and rewind functions on desktop and mobile? I sure have, but under the current system, there is no incentive to make them any better. 

-It would also likely make the different streaming platforms fall under a specific genre or niche the way that TV channels do. If you want to get people to subscribe to your streaming service, you purchase the streaming rights to content that you think will attract a similar audience to the properties you already own. 

-Making fewer, better shows. Everyone knows that the tv market is bloated right now with so many streaming platforms coming out with a ridiculous number of new shows to attract new subscribers. If you can’t hold the exclusive streaming rights to a property, then there is less incentive to create a massive number of new shows, but rather higher quality, long running shows that can be sold for more money. This might also re-incentivize making shows with longer seasons, as you could also charge more for more episodes. 

tl;dr: Streaming services currently have a monopoly on the properties they own. Monopolies are bad, and in this case they hurt both the viewers and everyone involved in the production of the shows and movies other than the studios themselves. Studios should not be allowed to own a monopoly on a given property.

there wasn’t much except a black shoebox with his belongings, you started looking through, two fat sketchbooks, a few rings and a few photos that had gotten dusty. you picked up the rings slipping the one on, a red velvety box. you opened up the kid with a pop a small yellow post it note.

‘finally got the balls to propose to her? don’t fuck it up johnny” a note to himself. to whom the lucky girl was you couldn’t tell; but if you found out who it was you’d save the box to give to her.

you looked through one of the sketch books sketches of all the force, random notes, drawings of various cool objects. you didn’t realise how good soap actually was. a few polaroids stuck into pages. one of him and ghost a few days before.. before he died. titled in soap’s signature scruffy handwriting ‘me and ghostie’

the other sketchbook very similar before finding a letter at the very bottom of the box. you opened it up.

‘dear the nosy git who looks through my stuff,’

the first sentence having you in a moment of silence, reading the sentence in his voice. making a tear well up in your eyes.

‘i’m most likely dead if your looking through my stuff so here’s my will.

- my sketchbooks go to gaz, only one of you that won’t ruin them.

- all my money goes to price in supporting the sas, I want it still running when i’m long gone.

- ghost gets all the photos, I know he’s a softie even if he didn’t admit it.

- y/n gets the ring, tell her i’ll always love her, even if I didn’t get to tell her.’

I have a lot of thoughts on it, where do I begin?

It's a little thing, but Marinette's hair being in a bun was adorable. But also it is adorable that she changed her hair style so it was the same as the one that protected her.

Also my respect for Socqueline has gone up a ton. I didn't really have any opinion on her character before this episode but she epically protected Marinette. What more is there to say?

Then Chloe... gah, where to begin?? I knew she was bad, I knew she was horrible to Marinette for years, but seeing it on the screen for ourselves... stay away from sunshine daughter, Chloe.

Adrien officially ending his and Chloe's "friendship" was a fantastic scene. Adrien this whole episode, actually. He was mad. He was in protect-Marinette-mode and it was beautiful.

Sabrina looks like she's been pushed to her limit more and more each episode. I hope we do get to see her break free from Chloe soon, she's in such a toxic relationship and she deserves better.

I've seen other posts mention that they wish they had used a new character instead of Kim for the "prank" on Marinette, and I agree. Having a character whose been part of the superhero team (not counting Chloe, she full on betrayed them) be the one to have been the one to pull something so cruel on Marinette was just so... jarring, for lack of a better word.

Another thing I think they could have done if they wanted it to be Kim would have Kim realize full on what he had done during the flashback instead of a whole year later. Like he pulls the "prank" because he thought it would be seen as funny, but when he sees Marinette's reaction he has his realization of what he did. I am glad they're having Kim's character get on the right track though even if it took a lot for him to realize what he had done.

This episode also got me wondering what might have happened if Chloe hadn't gotten Kim to pull that "prank". Like what if Marinette and Kim had started dating? How could it have changed canon if it had lasted? How would it have impacted the characters?
