SHARING SPACE — Carmen Berzatto.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: just a blurb, how you ended up moving in with Carmen :)
warnings: established relationship, reader is implied female (but little use of specific pronouns), fluffy headcanons, some smutty implications, some smutty implications but still fluff, mentions of alcohol and smoking, blurb is set once they're rebranding The Beef into The Bear.
i need more Carmen fluff this man is my whole life. btw this is super short but i'm sooooo burnt out :'(
It started with you "accidentally" falling asleep in his bed from the night before, panicking and hurrying to put your clothes in the morning before he had to rush to work. You weren't technically dating, but you were too close for comfort to be considered something as shallow as "friends with benefits." It was more than that.
But then things seemed to slow down. It turned into spending an extra ten minutes enveloped in each others arms. You shared, "good mornings" between sickly sweet kisses, his hands feeling up and down your torso while your fingers entangled in his hair. Carmen whispered about how much he didn't want to leave—as much as both of you knew he had to.
"You're gonna be late, Carmy." You'd groan, cupping his clean-shaven face and planting small kisses on his cheeks. Carmen let out a sigh of disappointment, realizing his short moment of bliss would be over the second he thought about leaving.
"I'm gonna clean up, 'kay?" He'd mumble, kissing your sweet lips one last time. His pupils dilated at the sight of you in his sheets, something he wish he didn't have to cherish from how little free time he seemed to have.
"Mhm."
Once he'd hop in the shower, you'd get yourself dressed before pouring him a warm cup of coffee, occasionally placing any dirty dishes stranded in the kitchen in the sink as an act of courtesy. You'd check the time, 7:00am,
As much as it pained you to leave without a proper goodbye, you worried that Carmen needed space- that he didn't have time to pepper kisses along your cheeks before he left.
"Bye Carmy!" You'd call out, but not quite loud enough for him to hear from the bathroom.
He wished you would've stayed just a little longer.
Eventually, you caught on. At one point, you swore you saw Carmen popping his head back into his bedroom to see if you were still there as you were already halfway out the door. From that point on, you started leaving little notes next to his coffee, littered with "I'm so proud of you," and sweet comments like, "break a leg Bear," and sometimes even an "I'll see you soon."
Then it turned into spending all weekend, every weekend, in his apartment—even though you'd been stopping by the restaurant between closing hours, and spending a good hour or two with him every other day of the week.
It just wasn't enough.
You started bringing a share-sized blanket and bottles of your favorite drinks whenever you came over, which was practically 4-5 times a week by that point. That blanket ended up rotating between your apartment and his, until it finally resided on the couch.
Wrapping himself in that blanket whenever you weren't around, reminded him that there was something else to think about; that there was someone else who needed him just as much as he did them.
You started leaving little things like your hoop earrings on the kitchen counter, or your puffer jacket on his coatrack, wondering if they'd still be there by next weekend; wondering if Carmen would ever have the heart to give them back to you. (Spoiler alert, he kept everything you ever "forgot"' in the exact same spot. Having a piece of you in his home at all times seemed to make up for your absence during the week, even if it just made him miss you more.)
Then you started packing extra clothes with you that you'd stuff into an empty drawer in Carmen's dresser. You brought your travel-sized, makeup bag with you, which you just ended up leaving in his bathroom. Along with your meds, and your skin care, and practically everything else you couldn't live without.
...
"You should just move in at this point." Carmen let out a breathy laugh as he watched you do your makeup, his eyes meeting yours in the reflection of the bathroom mirror. Not even 20 minutes ago, he saw you pick out an entire outfit from the spare clothes you brought, not even realizing that you left a pair of black shoes that went with everything, right in his shoe rack.
"I practically live here now," you paused to put on some mascara, your mouth gaping open as you tried to concentrate, "but my lease is up on the 23rd." You joked, twisting the cap on your mascara back on and tossing it into your makeup bag.
"I mean—would you want to? Live here? With—with me?" He physically turned to look at you, your reflection not giving him enough clarity. He needed to see you, whether you said yes or no. You felt your stomach turn, and the question seemed unreal.
"I— yeah, I guess. Only if you want me to, but that'd be pretty... cool." You turned your head to face him, gazing into his desperate eyes. He needed to be able to call this apartment "ours," not just "his."
This apartment felt more like a home than you than anywhere else you resided in Chicago. You made your commute to work from this apartment, you ate and showered and slept in this apartment, bits and pieces of you were tossed all around this apartment, you brought home every new piece of clothing and jewelry back to this apartment.
Carmen literally made you keep a spare key in your wallet, advising you to come over whenever you needed something—even if he wasn't home. He trusted you with his space,
He took it upon himself to buy you a toothbrush, the shampoo and conditioner you raved about after he complimented your hair, and extra pads/tampons/menstrual cups (since he wasn't sure what you used,) just for when his bathroom would be occupied by you. He cleaned out the hidden cabinet behind the mirror above the sink, making sure you had a place for all of your things. He moved all of his cologne, deodorant, lotion, etc in the cabinet underneath it.
All he ever wanted was to make sure you felt safe.

Oooh, a line from a fic, you say??? How about Upon A Star, Bojan and Jere on the couch in front of the fireplace? Or is too Christmas-y now that the holidays are over?
And now here they were, alone together and the lines finally crossed. It had been a day of glittering frost and the smell of pine and Jere’s surprisingly good gingerbread, and now he was about to fall asleep in the arms of a man whose body fitted his own as though they were made for each other. All was calm, all was bright.
Yeeeeah, since I’m the #1 christmas hater, one christmas themed drawing is enough. BUT I still tried my best to somehow stay in the mood, thinking about the light coming from the fireplace etc…

Their Duel begins, and Raphael starts off strong, with powerful monsters to guard him against everything the Other Yugi tries to throw at him. Even the attack that had defeated the god Obelisk is useless against Raphael. And like before, Raphael seems to be willing to do anything to keep his Guardians from the Graveyard, even at the cost of his own Lifepoints.
Would a man like that really play the Seal?
Other Yugi tries to remind Raphael of his bond with his Guardians, to make him look at himself and the respect he shows his monsters.
But it's no use. His words never seem to get through to the man.
"I'm willing to accept the darkness in my heart. That's what makes us different, Nameless Pharaoh," he says flatly, staring down at the cards in his hand with a neutral, tight-lipped expression. "Unlike you, I'm willing to make it a part of myself, to fulfil my destiny until the time of my own sacrifice."
On the street far below, Yugi's friends stop in their tracks outside the Paradias headquarters. Téa gasps, her heart sinks as a pillar of teal light illuminates the rooftop that towers over their group.
Are they too late?
They all race into the building, across the lobby to fill the elvator. It ascends achingly slow, every second filled with trepidation. Tristan shifts the unconscious Joey on his back. Kaiba taps his foot.
When the doors finally opens and they all spill out onto the roof, it's to a dismal scene. Their friend standing at only 500 Lifepoints, facing a powerful Guardian Eatos with black feathered wings and 7000 Attack.
"That's the monster that beat him last time--" Tristan gasps.
But this time, Other Yugi has a plan. He's able to force Raphael's turn to end, to buy himself some time.
But is that all he can do? Stall?
He glances at the group of his friends cheering for him now.
Another turn comes and goes, before Other Yugi finally pulls the Eye of Timaeus. Yes!! It fuses with Yugi's beloved Dark Magician to create a dragon with an effect to make it powerful enough to destroy Raphael's Guardian.
Will this finally make him see?
Watching his beloved Guardian fall?
A storm of black feathers swirls across the field. When they settle, Raphael has steeled himself once again. He stands with his fists clenched, his jaw set, his shoulders tight. As he shakes with rage, he sets a cutting, red-eyed glare at the Other Yugi.
The Seal pulsates. Throbbing like the pulse in Raphael's ears.
Other Yugi feels his blood run cold.
"You sent my Guardian Eatos to the grave...." Raphael's voice shakes with resentment.
The rooftop seems to crack open, a black mist errupting from the crevice. A rotting hand, bound in dirty bandages reaches up from the depths of hell.
"But you can never kill it. Their corpse will take revenge."
The monster that climbs to the field stinks of decay, red eyes glowing behind a white mask and a mess of long, matted hair. It reaches out one of those rotting hands, and a massive, black scythe appears.
In order for the zombie to attack, Raphael has to sacrifice all of his other monsters on the field. He sends them all to the grave without a hint of hesitation.
"How could you," Other Yugi gasps. "After all you did to keep them alive--"
There's nothing he can do as the undead Guardian Dreadscythe destroys his Amulet Dragon. Other Yugi's Lifepoints drop to 300.
He can't give up now. Even without his powerful dragon, the Pharaoh swears to see this through.
But his heart aches for his enemy.
And all he can seem to do is stall.
Even after returning the Eye of Timaeus to his hand to play again, he can't destroy Dreadscythe. He lets out a frustrated scream as his dragon is destroyed again, leaving him with a measly 10 Lifepoints.
"Why are you just drawing out the inevitable? What makes you think you can escape your destiny?"
Other Yugi is quiet as he draws for his next turn. He looks at the card he's just pulled for a moment, and his expression softens. "Why are you so sure you can't?"
"It hurt, didn't it? When you sent all of your precious Guardians to the Graveyard, your heart was screaming. Wasn't it?"
Raphael falls silent, narrowing his red eyes at his opponent.
"My Partner helped me see how important it is to understand the burdens of my enemies. To feel their pain.... You've accepted the darkness inside yourself, but that Seal is keeping you from accepting the sorrow you feel too. So, I'll remind you."
The card he plays next lets him take Monster Reborn from his opponent's Graveyard. But this time, it isn't his own monster he revives.
White feathers rain from the sky as Eatos rises again, on Other Yugi's side of the field now.
But Other Yugi isn't done.
He still has one card in his hand, and as he looks at it now, a little smile crosses his lips. He glances behind him, to the unconscious form of his best friend, still held on Tristan's back, and plays the Claw of Hermos. The Goddess Bow that it creates raises Eatos's Attack, matching that of the Dreadscythe.
The zombie's effect prevents it from being destroyed, at the cost of one card in Raphael's hand. But the Bow's effect allows Eatos to attack again whenever that effect activates, over and over, until Raphael has nothing left to discard, and the two Guardians go down together.
Raphael falls to his knees as he calls Eatos's name.
A hush settles over the battlefield.
"I knew you'd call for Eatos. And not that thing," Other Yugi says, after a moment. "You called out for the light, you changed your heart. You can change your destiny--"
"I said it's too late for that." Raphael takes a deep breath. He doesn't bother to stand again. When he looks up from the card he's just drawn, that pointed malice in his eyes has once again turned to sorrow. "The Seal of Orichalcos will take the loser's soul. You still can't change that."
He plays Soul Charge, instantly bringing back every monster in his Graveyard... except for Dreadscythe. The resurrected monsters can't attack this turn, but it doesn't matter. Every one that takes the field drains 500 Lifepoints from Raphael.
They hit 0 as Eatos takes their place on his field, and the Seal closes in around him.
But as the Other Yugi swallows down the bittersweet taste of this victory, his eyes go wide.
Though the light of the Seal fades, Raphael doesn't. The man blinks in confusion, reaches for the turquoise stone around his neck, only for it to crack and shatter in his hand.
There's little time to assess what just happened, however, as the building begins to shake.
"Run," Raphael orders. "This building is set to collapse when our Duel ended."
Though the others immediately turn to run for Kaiba's waiting helicopter, the Other Yugi hangs back, trying to pull a man twice his size to his feet. "I'm not leaving you, Raphael. Get up," he urges, but the Duel had taken its toll on him. Though the Seal had left his soul, it had seemed to sap all of Raphael's energy as it faded.
He tries to stumble along, to support himself and follow, and the Other Yugi does his best to support him. But as pieces of the rooftop crumble around them, it's clear they can't both make it in time.
Raphael slips something into the Other Yugi's hand as he makes up his mind. Takes a deep breath and summons every trace of strength he has left to scoop up the much smaller man and toss him onto the open ramp of the helicopter that hovers at the building's edge. But there isn't time for him.
As the others help pull him safely inside, the Other Yugi screams for Raphael as the facade of Doma's corporate empire crumbles to dust.

"#And if we consider the canon (?) that St. Dunstans aka the Dying God from s2 is the one who originally created the Shaman and Rock" YO WAIT WHAT
OH. SHIT. AHAHA. OKAY. LMAO let me try and explain. this skdldjdkd AS A FOREWARNING THO!! this is all just. What I've pieced together from Daytrippers idk if it's TRUE ive never gotten conformation yknow!!!!!!! Okay! Anyway!
BASICALLY! Throughout Daytrippers, St. Dunstans seems to be talking about a past and constant conflict with a demon or devil of some sort? He refers to it a couple different times:
You keep away your Cloven Hooves! Your forked lying tongue!
I see you still, you creep around these parts.
And I knew, there was nothing to you. A tale and a mask and a fright’ning story.
Decades of conflict,
I had kinda had my suspicions that this was the original Shaman, which were more or less confirmed in WHY, which is the episode right after Bru's "please, one more time" monolouge, when St. Dunstans says this specifically:
I remember what I saw. Your broken, beaten form, ‘Please’ you said, ‘Please, one kind mercy for an old enemy’
In reference to the Demon/Devil, which sounds a lot like the "Please, one more time," line that Kane says in K&F v the Town Council, and is repeated and emphasized in WHY.
Going through the transcripts, every time St. Dunstans refers to the Demon, it kinda parallels something Kane has said or done.
So the scared, the lonely, the lost, were within your grasp. It is too much, far too much.
This line is similar to when Kane says:
It’s all in me Brutus! it’s fractured and mirrored, and fractured and mirrored, but I kept it!
(^ its worth noting that when he says that line, Kane seems to b in pain/straining, and it seems like its too much magic for him, which is. A whole other thing BUT. Not the time) (also this isnt the only example but im trying to keep this as short as possible)
anyway! It seemed to me that this was implying that the Devil/Demon was the original Shaman, like I said before, which is only reinforced by the fact that his name is fucking. LUCIFER.
It's also reinforced with the fact that THIS:
Tumblr media
Is literally on Kanes official tarot card!!! Its literally a Demon and a monk/saint arguing or fighting or something!
The final, seemingly obvious confirmation that Kane and this Demon or Devil were both incarnations of the Shaman was with this:
In the last monologue from St. Dunstans he says:
And on that Day, I decided, to be the Thorn forever in your palm
which is directly said/referenced again at the end of that episode when the Thornbush Princess dies:
KANE: She’s gone. There is a thorn in the palm in my hand.
the Princess and everything else weird about Twomy is a manifestation of this dying God/saint, and leaving that thorn in Kane's hand was directly fulfilling St. Dunstans promise??
anyway!!!!! I dont think that St. Dunstans created the Shaman, but i DO think that he created the Rock.
In HOW, he seems to be talking to the Shaman, and almost sympathizing with it, and understanding that the Shaman/Demon won't be able to take on all of the magic/keep the universe balanced by himself.
In reference to this, and seemingly speaking TO the Shaman/Demon, St. Dunstans says:
But I didn’t wish for you to be alone, in your struggles.
It's already been established that Kane and Feels need each other/depend on each other/are "the grounding point and the man without ground"
To ME, in MY OPINION, the "I didnt wish for you to be alone" line seems to imply that St. Dunstans either created and/or appointed someone else to be the Demon/Shaman's opposite, to help the Shaman, to be the Rock, yknow??? And thats where the original Shaman and Rock come from?
It also could be that St. Dunstan created the Rock to ground the Shamans powers, maybe in an attempt to weaken the Shaman?????? Idk
It's also interesting and worth noting that in the first season, Kane (the Shaman/Demon/Devil) accidentally kills Alice (the SUCCESSOR of St. Dunstans), however temporarily, in Wonderland.
To ME this kinda feels like the Shaman, not Kane, making an attempt to kill its tormentor/enemy, St. Dunstans, who at that point I think was using Alice as kind of a host?
Like Kane even seems confused and appalled when Alice appears to be dead, and I wonder if that was because of the Shaman acting on its own volition, and just using Kane as a vessel to get what it wanted for all these years y'know?
This is so incoherent and rambly I'm sorry please lemme know if you need me to clarify anything further. and ALSO AGAIN I COULD BE TOTALLY WRONG IDK JACK SHIT THIS IS JUST WHAT IVE KINDA PUT TOGETHER!!!!!
I'd really recommend reading the Daytrippers transcripts cause I'm sure there's stuff thats relevant to this that I also missed!!!
TL;DR: St. Dunstan, seemingly having been in an age old battle with an entity I THINK is the original Shaman, created the Rock to help the Shaman, in a moment of pity and sympathy.

Hello again 😅 I did not expect Fire defense + Cosmic Basic exams to come and I'm really struggling to get SS on both :/
These are the teams I tried for the Fire exam
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I first tried it with team 1 but I'd mostly get As and rarely any Ss, Team 2 and 3 both got me very close to SS also below is also the team I tried for SS in the cosmic basic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are my scores for both the exams as you can see im super close in the defense one but I cant seem to score any higher :/ ( I even maxxed out my Treys healing just for this )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My SSR spells are as follows
Dorm Riddle 10/10
Dorm Trey 10/5
Dorm Azul 5/10
Dorm Leona 5/10
Dorm Vil 5/10
Dorm Jade 6/10
Dorm Floyd 7/10
Halloween Jade 5/10
GM Ace 10/10
Dorm Epel 1/1 😅
And everyone else is 5/5
I also have all the SR + R cards ( besides the new halloween SRs) + I have some(?) Alchemy tokens stocked up so I have enough to max out another spell if needed
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to reply! Have a nice day/nice!!
Hello~
For Fire Defense you want to bring more Water cards to take less damage, so try:
Dorm Azul (Water/Water), healer and double Water spells
Dorm Trey (Water/Flora), healer and tanker (Flora spell unused by turn 5)
Lab Lilia (Water/Water), double Water and debuffer (HP buddy with Trey)
Lab Idia (Water/Water), double Water and HP buddy with Azul and Trey
Robe Riddle (Fire/Water) or Dorm Jade (Water/Fire), choose based on DMG needed to end battle on turn 5 without needing to use Trey’s Flora spell
Some other combos you can try by replacing some characters (NOT Azul) from the team above:
Dorm Deuce (Cosmic/Water) + Lab Ace (Cosmic/Water), healer
Lab Idia (Water/Water) + Robe Ortho (Flora/Water), healer
Dorm Jade (Water/Fire) + Lab Floyd (Water/Cosmic), debuffer
Defense exams have a lot of great Rs and SRs to help you, so give them a try!
Your Cosmic Basic team is pretty good, it’s just that SS there is the equivalent of SSS in other basic exams haha;;; one thing you can do is replace Cater with SM Jade for an extra DUO, he’s Azul’s POW buddy and Leona already has Vil as his POW buddy too, so he can be used as your last DUO instead of Riddle.

Forget-Me-Not: The Face of Death
Chapters 1 , 2 , 3
Ah finally! This one took me a hot second to complete and get out, but the long awaited chapter 4 is here where Sam gets some interesting help from the ever beloved Heroes of Chorus. Also please do not forget to share and reblog this so others can see it!
-
Sam found himself pacing back and forth at the international spaceship landing at the edge of New Aromonia. Tucker and Kai were supposed to be here an hour ago, and there's no sign of the ship that's supposed to bring them here from the moon of Chorus. He was about to go over to a man with a tablet to ask about an arriving ship, but he stopped at seeing one coming in.
1. This is the ship.
2. He is only disappointing himself.
The bounty hunter was leaning more towards the latter, but when the ship landed and the hatch opened, nothing but loud voices came out, and there walking out in a possible argument, were Tucker and Kai. Tucker noticed the man first and waved over to him with a grin. But Sam didn't expect to see Agents Washington and Carolina follow out.
"Hey! Sam!"
He just put up a hand as a wave before crossing his arms. He started to feel his chest tighten, and he had to steady his breathing at the spike of nervousness he began to feel. Is it because hearing his name is different? Or is it due to the heroes of Chorus seeing the face of a man who tried to kill them for the first time? Probably both.
Wash looked around the spaceship landing and noticed Kai staring with her mouth hanging open. With a slight chuckle, he nudged her in the side.
"You're drooling."
"Well, I'm sorry that Mr. Bounty Hunter man is sexy! I don't wanna be rude, but that X on his face is calling me 'Here! X marks the spot for you to sit~'"
Tucker looked over his shoulder at the Polynesian woman as he walked over to where Sam was. "Sorry! I think he's gay, so tough luck!"
"IT'S ALWAYS THE GAY ONES THAT ARE HOT FUCK!"
That made Tucker laugh before turning his attention to Sam, who had his face in his hands. When the Hispanic looked at the Blue, the silence that stretched was awkward.
"So uh... It's... Kinda weird seeing you without your armor. I mean, like. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's different. And knowing your name too, which is all the more weird," Tucker started, rubbing his hand together since they felt clammy.
"I agree. I'm not usually one to freely give out my name. But for the sake of the mission and Chorus, it's needed to keep who I truly am hidden." Sam glanced over Tucker's shoulder to where Carolina and Wash were and raised a brow.
"I thought you said it would be just you and Kakaina."
"About that. I brought them along because maybe it'll get them used to you. Plus, those two need to wind down. No matter how chill they seem, they're always uptight."
A sigh left him. As much as he didn't want to draw attention to himself for this, maybe the extra bodies will be of aid. Sam then motioned the group to follow him to the car he rented. Wash started to move forward as a silent Carolina and a pouting Kakaina followed him, mumbling about how it's such a disappointment that Sam might be into men instead.
Once within the safety of the car away from prying eyes, Carolina crossed her arms as she fixed her gaze on the back of Sam's head. "So. This is the horrifying mercenary Locus out of his armor. And with his name entrusted to the same people who took him down."
"Need I remind you, Carolina. If it weren't for me, you'd be an empty shell of armor with a skeleton and rotting flesh inside."
"Eugh. No need to put that imagery in my head."
Tucker looked over his shoulder from his spot in the passenger seat. "Plus, he's a bounty hunter, not a mercenary. He doesn't kill anymore."
Sam mumbled a 'thanks' to the clarification before sighing. Honestly, he's a bit scared they'll turn him in simply for being Locus once this is over. Tucker could be playing a facade, and Kai... Well, that one is no trick with how upset she looks.
"Washington. Do you remember back at Crash Site Alpha during the war-"
"When I baited you to shoot at my helmet? Yeah. It ain't hard to forget that."
"Right. But before that, when the ship full of prisoners came down. Among those men, do you remember one that was flying?"
Wash took a moment to think back to the war. His memory is fuzzy on many details due to his injury, but he needed a moment to think back to that part. He remembers bullets hailing down on him and the troops and something blue zooming overhead. But that's the extent of it. A man came down with the prisoners, but he was flying instead...
"I think I do. Was there a blue guy?"
"Don't strain yourself too much on the details, Wash," Carolina reassured, then turned her attention to Sam. "His memory is still not that great. So don't press him unless you want to be pressed back."
All Sam did was shrug a shoulder at her light threat. "But, yes. His name is Anubis. A mercenary Felix brought to help out since that man is one of the most dangerous killers out there. As for why I brought him up, he's the one I was sent after."
Tucker was listening to what was said. He remembers Palomo panicking about a "demon" on the battlefield that was flying. And then remembered what Sam told him about this guy. "So, you said clubs is where he hangs, right? Then we gotta get ready!"
"I was told about the best club here! I can get you guys in," Kai chimed in with a grin on her face. Sam glanced at her from the review mirror as the others turned to look at her. Some looks were shared, but they agreed to this club she mentioned.
"But, first things first. You three need a serious change in outfits. Especially you, Sam, since I feel you need help the most."
That made him sigh. He wasn't going to argue with her logic on his choice of clothing, especially for something like a club where he has zero experience on how to dress. And so with that, Kai started to give directions to a dress and suit shop while Tucker looked up the club mentioned previously to see if there was a theme of sorts going on.
Semi-formal.
-
"Kai. I hate to break it to you, but I'm going to need something that can be tighter."
Kai looked over to Wash with a raised brow before placing a hand on her hip. "The fuck do you mean 'tighter?' That thing is your size."
The ex-freelancer shook his head as his hands carefully worked to loosen the vest-like corset. "No. I mean something a bit smaller. The exact size isn't going to cause the effect you're looking for."
"I agree with him," Tucker said. He stood up to show how he looked in the light blue and white one. "If you wanna put a man in a corset, you need to go for something that really hugs the figure. The idea is to look slim while having a range in motion, but being able to breathe."
That made the Polynesian huff as she crossed her arms. "Who are you to talk about fashion, Tucker? Last I recall, your sense of fashion sucks major balls."
"He does have a point." Sam came out from the dressing room he occupied, all black with hard-to-see patterns loosely hanging off his torso since he had zero ideas on how to tighten a corset. Surprisingly, Carolina, sitting quietly, decided to help out the large man.
"For a man that's been in the army, you should know how to lace up a boot. This is no different."
"Don't patronize me. I haven't had to tie something behind myself for a long time."
"Well, at least you have us here to help you, Mr. Scary Man. Also, Kai, please. Can you look for a smaller one?" Wash looked at Kai with a little puppy dog face. She sighed and nodded since the blond was busy removing the corset he had on. Thank god for dress shirts.
Sam grunted as Carolina tightened the strings to sinch his waist. Tight, uncomfortable, not yet broken into. He has worn figure-fitting suits, but nothing like this where it felt like the first time fitting into new boots. Once the redhead was finished, the Hispanic stretched out his arms a bit since the corset had tightened up and pinned the sleeves to his arms. Once there was some wiggle room, Sam turned to a mirror to see how he looked.
Wash let out a whistle at the sight as he laced up a different vest that was handed to him. "Gotta admit. Ya look good in that, Sam."
Tucker looked over and raised a brow as he leaned back in the chair he was in. "I'm gonna have to agree. It's a good look for you."
"I've worn tight suits, but never a corset."
"All I can say is that you look hot! Actually, both you and Wash do. What kind of training do you guys do that you have hips for days?" Kai crossed her arms with a grin on her face.
"You def look better than Tucker, that's for sure."
"Hey!" Tucker paused, stood up to look at himself, then at the other two, then back to himself. He looked more straightened out than like an hourglass. This realization made him start flinging curses out left and right.
"Well, he did have an alien baby, right?" Carolina questioned as her head tilted to the side, unsure if she remembered being told that.
"He did! Remember when we had to fix the past because of that asshole we all joined up when Tucker gave birth? So yeah. He had one."
"It's baby fat then!"
"Huh. Wonder what happened to all that training I put you through before we joined up with Kimball."
That made Tucker huff as he crossed his arms. "I got killer thighs and calves. Not a full-body workout!"
"Shame. Legs for days, but no abs."
The comment from Sam lead to Kai and Wash laughing, Carolina snickered. Tucker just sat back down with a pout as Sam smiled a little and adjusted the cuffs of his sleeves. Everyone took a breath to calm down and assess if they got what they wanted. Wash went to try on a different color and was satisfied with the black and yellow one he found. The group was then set for the night.

Through the windows of the car was the music audible. Loud, heavy, and vibrated in the chest that it was enough to make one take a pause to bask in it.
Sam, Tucker, Kai, Wash, and Carolina all got out of the car and a valet took the keys without being prompted. The owner must have very good money to be paying for valets. Looking at the building, the top of it was similar to an upside-down pyramid, but what would be the tip was wide as a base for support so it would never tip. It was certainly the grandest club in design and lighting for a warehouse-size building.
Tucker motioned to the two Freelancers to follow him towards the bouncer. The brutish man let them in since they are a fraction of the Reds and Blues, then stood in front of the door again. Kai looked to Sam and gestured for him to follow her towards the door. Since she was known for her raves in the gulch, she played the bouncer to convince him that Sam was her bodyguard, which he was easily convinced and let the two in.
The inside of the club was just as grand as the outside. Left of the entrance was the bar, the length of two warthogs to accommodate the many people within. Along both walls were booths and tables, and some half-circle couches had a platform at the center with a dance pole. The club was pretty much what anyone would expect one to look like, along with the thumping music rattling one's eardrums.
The music suddenly died down to a low bass, everyone went quiet, and all eyes went to the stage. Excited whispers started up in seconds, whispers about "the owner" coming up to put in a show. Of course, this caught Kai's attention since she's never heard of club owners putting on performances for their patrons. She knows she's joined in with the people that went to her raves, but this sounded like a whole different level.
The beat changed to the start of a new song; the lights changed to match it as a group of people walked up onto the stage and got into position. The lights came on to show five men, the one in the center dressed differently from the others. How people squealed made it easy to tell that man was the owner. Dark hair with hints of gold tied back in a bun, skin a shade lighter than Sam's. The sleeveless shirt made two thick black tattoo bands with a line with patterns that are visible. There was something about how the lighting reflected in those oddly golden eyes that made the group stare, something unspoken without any sort of indication.
Sam ducked his head low and muttered to Wash how they needed to find a way to talk to the man on stage since he is the owner thanks to the many people screaming as the song progresses and the men start to dance. Kai was like the others: Screaming in absolute excitement at the entertainment. She's lost to them. Tucker then moved closer and whisper/shouted as to why it felt like the owner is looking right at them anytime he looks towards the crowd. Carolina noticed this too and didn't like it one bit since no one makes that much eye contact when performing unless there was a reason behind it. All they could do for now was wait till it's over, then they could hopefully talk to the man.
