January 2024 Omegaverse Challenge Masterlist
I'm writing for a lil The Last Kingdom omegaverse challenge with some friendos from discord.
Day 1: First Meeting - Sihtric uses an app to find himself two Alphas to help with his heat. Modern au.
Day 2: Flirting - Sihtric always gets super embarrassed and runs away when either Uhtred or Finan flirt with him. So Uhtred hatches a plan.
Day 3: Date - Sihtric and Finan go on a first date and Sihtric invites Finan back to his place. Modern au.
Day 4: Holding Hands - Finan holding Uhtred’s hand in order to pin them down as Sihtric rides him.
Day 5: With Friends - During the Eostre feast Sihtric, Finan and Uhtred’s fuck in the hall.
Day 6: First Kiss - Finan finds out Sihtric has never been kissed and fixes that error.
Day 7: Teaching the Other Something - Uhtred teaching Sihtric how to deep throat without choking(in a bad way).
Day 8: Surprise - Uhtred comes home his birthday and Finan has left him a very special surprise. Modern au.
Day 9: Formal Wear - At Stiorra and Sigtryggrs wedding and Sihtric has a surprise for his husbands. Modern au.
Day 10: Chores - Sihtric is trying to do chores around the house and the Uhtred keeps trying to distract him. Modern au.
Day 11: Cuddling - Aftercare after Finan punishes Sihtric for being naughty with Uhtred.
Day 12: Patching Each Other Up - Sihtric wins a fight but gets a good beating in the process and Finan is trying to patch him up. Modern au.
Day 13: Watching the Other Sleep - Sihtric watching Uhtred sleep and decided to wake him up.
Day 14: Flowers - Sihtric ends up with a crown of flowers woven into his hair.
Day 15: Snowy Nights - Sihtric, Finan and Uhtred are all cuddled up to beat the chill from a cold winter.
Day 16: Lost - Sihtric experiences his first heat since Uhtred was sold into slavery.
Day 17: Clothing Swap - Sihtric stole Finans hoodie as he went into heat and is still wearing it when Finan finds him after getting home. Modern au.
Day 18: Confession - Sihtric has a confession for Finan and Uhtred.
Day 19: Lazy Day - Finan, Sihtric and Uhtred spend a lazy day together under the guise of going on a hunt.
Day 20: Exes - Sihtric unexpectedly goes into heat and calls up his ex to help him through it. Modern au.
Day 21: Proposal - Sihtric is so fucked out he forgets his plans and just blurts out "marry me"
Day 22: Rain - Sihtric and Finan get caught in a rainstorm, they run back to the hall and fuck in front of the fire. Uhtred catches them at the end.
Day 23: Jealousy - Sihtric hires an alpha to help him through a heat. Uhtred and Finan get jealous.
Day 24: Arguing - Sihtric is being sent to spy on yet another dane camp. Him and Finan argue about it.
Day 25: Making Up - Sihtric and Finan make up after the plan to rescue Skade.
Day 26: Fantasy - Sihtric leads a fertility ritual in Coccham and gets something he always wanted in the process.
Day 27: Wedding Day - Sihtric. Finan and Uhtred have just been married, this is their wedding night.
Day 28: Something New - Finan tries something he was led to believe he wasn't allowed to want.
Day 29: Dancing - Sihtric and Finan get dirty at a dance club. Modern au.
Day 30: Favorite Memory - The first time the Sihtric, Finan and Uhtred share a heat together.
Day 31: Meeting Parents/Family - Sihtric and Finan meeting Uhtred’s family for the first time. Modern au.

Writing Stats - Quarter 1, 2024
I've always wanted to track how much I write every day. It's my favorite thing about Nanowrimo and Camp Nano is the tracking and seeing my progress in numbers rather than pages. Last December, @sparkstar-trash and I decided to do a mini Nano between the two of us from December 11th to January 14th. It was kind of a success, kind of a fail on both ends, but it did spark (no pun intended) a love for this spreadsheet I had made.
All that to say, I've been keeping track of my writing stats this year and decided that I would do updates every three months (mostly for myself so it doesn't overwhelm me in the end) to see how things change.
Below the cut, you can see everything and how I kept track of things!
I'm participating/participated in quite a few events this year so far. This first quarter, I've been working on: Steddie Love Month, Stobin Month, Steddie Omegaverse Valentine's Day Exchange, Stranger Things Reverse Big Bang, and Stranger Things Big Bang.
I also decided to embark on a 90 Day Posting Challenge to help encourage me to write daily and to make shorter pieces. It's been really fun so far and helped me accept that not everything needs to be perfect to be fun and post. Posting started February 1st, so I'm on day 61 of the challenge today!

Thoughts:
Keeping track of my stats really motivated me to keep writing every day, even when I didn't want to. The monthly prompts and 90 Day challenge have gotten me into a really good habit of writing every day, no matter what, with smaller goals like the prompts being great starters for the fics I'm working on.
March was really tough and I lost a lot of writing time, so I'm pretty impressed I got as much as I did. Things have changed drastically in my life since I started this, which is so weird after three years of consistency, so trying to find this new balance is, well, a challenge. If it wasn't for @lady-lostmind and the Stobin Month prompts, I don't think I would have stuck with writing through my bad days like I did. And for full transparency, there are a few days where I wrote under 10 words that day, but they're still 10 more than I had and I sat down and tried to write. The intention was there, so it counts.
Either way, I'm really proud of myself for getting to this point, I have so many fics I'm working on or have planned and I hope the next quarter is as fulfilling as this last one has been.
Thanks to all of you who have read, liked, reblogged, kudos, commented, bookmarked, and rec'd my work. From vocal to silent readers, you've all cheerleaded me into where I am now and I'm really thankful to be in this position.
Now off to more sprints to see if I can't beat these numbers for the next quarter.

BL & Me: 2023 Edition
To celebrate my full first year as a BL fan I decided I wanted to do an end of the year list. Something to commemorate the absolutely wonderful fandom year I've had. Prior to watching my first BL, I had not participated in any fandoms since 2015. Getting back into it reminded how much fun it is and I've met and followed so many amazing people in the last year (technically, I watched my first BL in October 2022, so it's been more than a year...).
These lists are going to focus on the BLs (and two Thai dramas that wanted to be and probably should have been BLs) that came out during 2023 (or their finales aired in late January through February). Since I'm still playing catch up on older BLs, there are several that I watched for the first time this year but I might do a separate post for that.

Thailand: 38 Dramas, 1 Movie
Japan: 1
Korea: 0
Taiwan: 2
Clearly I need to watch more from Korea. Currently I'm making my way through Taiwan's BLs so once I am sufficiently caught up on those, I will be moving over to catch up on Korean ones. Until the last month or so, I had never seen a Taiwanese BL, so that's what started me on watching those - I'm almost done with the ones that have been recommended to me so far.
It's plain to see that I love Thailand's approach to BL's the most; they are what hooked me into BL and keep me watching.
Most Anticipated BLs: Bed Friend, Between Us, Cutie Pie 2 You, Moonlight Chicken, Naughty Babe
My Highest Rated Shows on MyDramaList: I Feel You Linger in the Air (10), La Pluie (10), Moonlight Chicken (10), Our Dining Table (10), Laws of Attraction (9.5), Midnight Museum (9.5), My Dear Gangster Oppa (9.5), Only Friends (9.5), Shadow (9.5) and Kiseki: Dear to Me (9.5).
It's a very interesting mix of shows here - one from Taiwan, one from Japan, and the two regular Thai dramas.
Favorite New Trope: Waltzing Gays. 2023 said, "Let the gays dance!" and they did.
Memorable Fandom Moments (The Good, The Bad, And The Absurd):
Altering the name of Moonlight Chicken. When we heard the name of the show, it was impossible not to make fun of it just a little. Many a nickname/play on words was created for this show and it was so much fun to see what others would come up with.
The ONN fandom protesting the O part of their ship landing a new BL and a new BL partner (complete with hiring a truck to drive around with a sign).
The Pit Babe Omegaverse post breaking containment and topping out at just over 69k notes (NOICE).
Playing "Spot the Cameo" during Midnight Museum and watching while GMMtv marched out practically their entire pool of talent for the show and yet still needed both Gun and Nannon to play more than one character.
Playing "Spot the Cameo" for Kiseki: Dear to me as they practically had all the major BL actors cameo in the show.
The fandom exhaustion over the marketing/casting announcements for Red Peafowl and the eventual fandom decision to just worship our lord and savior Kuhn Feathers instead.

2022 Fic Writing Stats
I found this a couple months ago and tossed it in my drafts, because I was proud of how much I’d written in 2022. Of course, that all stopped when I started playing FFXIV...but I still wrote a lot in the first part of the year!
Word count on AO3: 40,279 across two accounts
Number of fics on AO3: 21
Average Words Per Story: 1,918 - about right, I’m a shortfic writer!
Fandoms written for: DC Comics, mostly Batfamily
Total Words Written: I have too many drafts for this. But I would say there’s at least 15k unpublished I wrote this year.

Shortest Story: Cut Open by Your Hand, 772w, some quick knife and blood play
Longest Story: Omegaverse harem heat porn, because I had to write so many people having sex! But only just over 5k.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? Well the end of the year got sidetracked, but I definitely wrote more though a lot didn’t get published because I agonized over editing.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write most? My descent into DC Comics and the Batfam continued, as did my descent into problematic smut writing. Let’s just say I really let my preferred kinks fly.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? I’m glad I got to write a Green Lantern fic! I know the overarching fandom is overrun with Batfam, so I’m glad I could contribute a little and sneak in some Guy/Arkillo.
Did you take any writing risks this year? Let’s just say there’s a couple of kinky smut fics that have 0 comments and leave it at that.
Do you have any fanfic or general writing goals for the new year? The nature of MMO subscriptions makes me want to get the most bang for my buck, so I don’t know what my writing looks like for the next year. I have some stuff I want to finish, but maybe I’ll dip my toes into a new fandom? I might have to make a third AO3 account for readerfic.

Most popular story of this year (by kudos): Smut: omegaverse non-con somno fic. Gen: little vampire Dick Grayson in Bit Off More Than He Could Chew, which got a nice bump from the DC vs Vampires comics giving us Vampire King Dick.
Personal favorite: TimRa’s enemies with benefits in With the Enemy (For Good Reason), because people just don’t write the pair how I’d like so I did it myself.
My favourite fic to write: Bit Off More Than He Could Chew, how to introduce Batman to the idea he has a smol vampire in his house
Most fun to write: The Temperature’s Hot Enough to Hatch a Stone, But Will It Hatch an Egg was very fun. Just a bunch of silliness.
Story with the single sexiest moment: Oral cock warming into face fucking. Like I said, I let the kinks fly this year, oh man.
Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story: Probably that omegaverse noncon somno fic I mentioned earlier. It also comes with a side of underage, incest, and forced mating.
Most challenging to write: I have this unpublished fic that’s gone through about three rewrites at this point...it includes multiverse shenanigans and lots of feels, so the limited 3rd POV I normally write in didn’t seem right, tried a different POV, tried combining into 3rd omni, and that’s where I left it. I will get it done!
Funniest fic: Temperature’s Hot Enough, accidental baby acquisition but it’s an egg instead is great
Fluffiest fic: Bit Off More probably, I just think baby vampire Dick is so cute
Saddest fic: I don’t do a ton of sad, the closest is probably the accidental incest fic (they didn’t know they were related but one of them learns)
Fic I’m proudest of writing: Temperature’s Hot Enough, like I said, more non-Batfamily stuff!
Least popular fic: Well, Temperature probably because it’s the only thing that doesn’t include a Batfam member.
Biggest disappointment: tbh, the zero comments on my werewolf boyfriend smut.
General writing reflections: Ignore the readers, write the things you love! Clearly these readers don’t have good taste. (Ok, there are some lovely commenters, but I wish they’d show up on some other stuff!)
Ok I’m too lazy for the rest of these, but I’m leaving them in maybe for next year. But overall, a good year! I’m glad I could really get back into writing. I do hope I can rededicate some time in 2023.

Summary: Sihtric, Finan and Uhtred are all cuddled up to beat the chill from a cold winter.

In order to celebrate we thought we would have a relaxed little writing challenge for you guys, who inspire us to keep writing ourselves. As it’s the New Year, the theme for the challenge will be “New”. Yes, that is a very wide spectrum, but it allows you to let your creative juices flow.

2021 Fests I Participated In
Everyone is doing writing self evaluations, so I thought I would start a similar trend!
List the fests that you participated in this year and reflect on them
1. @1daboficfest - My first ever fest! I wrote a fic called I’m Asking You Please, Don’t Talk Dirty to Me in which omega Louis is a filthy talking mind when he goes into his heat unexpectedly, and his best friend alpha Harry struggles to deal with it. It’s my first omegaverse fic, and I really like how it came out! It was a fun prompt that I’m so glad I was able to get, and people seemed to really like it!
2. @wordplayfics - This was such a neat challenge, both using a word as inspiration and only writing a fic in one week. I chose to participate in all five weeks, and I created a series called You Could Be Preoccupied in which Harry signs up for a gay hookup app and hooks up with each of the other boys. They were fun to write, and writing new ships was a good push out of my comfort zone. It was also fun anticipating the word with @neondiamond every week haha! I also am quite fond of my titles because they are all galaxy themed.
3. @bhficfest - I had so much fun writing this fic, He Said “You’re Such a Crybaby” which is a PWP with heavy BDSM, featuring dom Louis and sub Harry, who happens to cry a lot and loves getting teased for it. I chose to combine three different prompts for this, and I think it came out nicely!
4. @1dcountryfest - The fic I wrote for this is called I’m Inviting You (To a Party for Two), and in it Louis gets cheeky while trying to get Harry to come over for a hookup and something new. This was fun because it was inspired by the song Party for Two by Gretchen Wilson. I loved including bits of the lyrics and playing on the country theme for the plot. It was also my first time having an artist for a fic, which was really cool!
5. @1dtrickortreatfest - I wrote two quick fics for this fest! One is called Full Skirt, Don’t Flirt Ballerina, in which Harry and Louis go to a Halloween party, and Louis gets jealous that pretty ballerina Harry keeps “flirting” with people. It was my first time writing non smut since January or February! I was nervous about that, but I’m not mad at how it came out haha. The other fic is called Jack-off O’Lantern, where Harry decides to be naughty and put his undies on display with a pumpkin on the porch, and Louis punishes him for it. I wasn’t too thrilled with this one because it was tough writing smut in so few words, but I’m glad I did it. It was a neat challenge having an exact word count requirement, although it threw me off when Google Docs and AO3 had different ways of counting hyphenated words!
6. @subharryficfest - Another fest that I wrote two fics for. The first is Even If It’s Only For Tonight, which is about Louis inviting Zayn for a threesome with him and Harry. I love how this came out. It was fun writing different perspectives, and I loved writing Louis’ rules for Zayn. The second is called A Picture of Your Open Throat, a bakery fic in which Harry accidentally sends a rude picture to Louis, his boss’ son. I rushed to finish this one, but people seem to like it, so I’m glad! It was a fun premise, and I enjoyed throwing in some bakery metaphors lol.

Bring on Marvel Cinematic Universe Month!
Oh, what a time it was in 2012 when the first Avengers movie came out! People discovered what the comics Stevetony fans had long known — Steve and Tony go together like peanut butter and jelly, coffee and donuts, marmite on toast. The movie launched thousands of fanworks, and we all remember the Tower fanwork days, where Steve and Tony bickered and fell for each other as the team threw movie nights and hoped that Steve and Tony would finally admit their love.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe covers the whole range of possible tropes like found family, pining, enemies to lovers, angst, and the ever popular fix-it works! So many great moments to explore and expand on — Steve and Tony coming together at the Battle of New York, the night at Clint's farm, the devastation of Civil War, Steve reuniting with Tony after he was rescued from space, and fixing the ending of Endgame (or not). And that's without mentioning all the opportunity to drop Steve and Tony into other settings and worlds; soulbonds, sports AUs, "and they were roomates" modern AUs, omegaverse, fusion works, and so many more!
There's plenty of material to work with, some great chances to imagine fork-in-the-road scenarios, and lots to love about Steve and Tony in the MCU — what inspires you?
