trying to learn to let go

i think I'll be getting rid of most of my wardrobe? i find myself constantly skimming thru my closet and feeling that "nothing to wear" bullshit come on despite plenty of options. so it probably just means I'm overdue for an aesthetic overhaul

I'll be selling on Depop, but I guess I'll post here too? 🤷🏾‍♂️ do people thrift on Tumblr 😆 There are just some specific items that I am not comfortable selling to random anonymous strangers (read as: anything with African print, esp if I designed it)

For Onthyes - How is your oc about medical care? Do they avoid any form of healthcare that they can, do they seek it out over every little scrape? Do they treat their injuries/illness all by themselves?

For Ventis - If you had to choose a single object to act as a symbol for your oc, what would it be? Why?

Onthyes is 1000% the kind of guy to like never go to the doctor cause he was raised in a toxic environment where needing medical attention makes you look weak. His mom learned healing magic for that very purpose, since he kept getting hurt while training with his father and then just not going to a doctor. His father’s a big fan of “just walk it off you’re fine” meanwhile Onthyes is actively bleeding out from a stab wound or something.

I think Ventis and Onthyes are both super touch starved, but they handle it differently. Ventis tries to avoid touching others too much and he’s shy about being touched, but it’s just out of fear that he’s gonna get too excited or something. He doesn’t wanna get caught grinning and blushing over a handshake. When Ventis gets really comfortable with someone he’ll start touching them a lot more but it takes him a long time to get to that point. Onthyes is super touch starved and he makes it everyone else’s problem. He’s pretty touchy, like he’ll give hugs or pat your shoulder or put his hand on your back if he needs to get behind you for some reason.

Ventis is like,,, a super expensive vintage designer sweater or something. Or a carved sodalite dragon’s skull. But for symbols I usually use clouds and lightning to represent him.

I answered this one for Ventis eariler so I'm just gonna do Onthyes (and @sapphicccici you can correct me if I'm wrong about anything at all Onthyes is technically your son not mine). Ingredients: lemongrass, fresh squeezed orange juice, your own blood, your lover's blood, campfire ash. Put it in a bowl under direct sunlight in the middle of summer and inhale the vapors to instantly disappoint your father.

Onthyes tries not to get attached to things and especially people out of fear of losing them. He has this silly little curse on his bloodline or whatever where he's destined to lose his first love and I'm sure it gave him some attachment issues. Even though he tries really hard not to form attachments he can't help but do it anyways. It's a hard question to answer for Ventis. His dragon blood gives him some serious hoarding instincts so he definitely likes to have Stuff even if he isn't using it. But I think after getting banished from his home he stopped hoarding objects so much and started hoarding love. He gets really attached to people and doesn't like to let them go even if they're not good to him. He does have that aloof 'black cat energy' as well, so he acts like his friends don't mean a lot to him but they really really do.

I've also already answered this for Ventis so I'm doing it for Onthyes- Onthyes's father used to hit him with 'surprise training sessions' aka he would just attack him with no warning or anything, so Onthyes is really obsessed with watching his back and sleeping with his sword and shield within reach. He's also picked up a lot of military-ish habits from his time in the guard, like waking up stupid early. Ventis is trying to teach him how to relax and sleep in every once in a while, but he's not super successful.

i feel so lucky that tonight i discovered your tumblr page by chance as i myself huge huge huge fan of asoiaf and fire&blood fan and they are powerful distraction from my upsetting daily routine i need to get through. Therefore, i spend everyday daydreaming thinking brainstorming lots of things

my recent question mark in my head is about Jahaera and aegon the third situation. So in the book it says, jahaera and aegon were very very quiet very reserved and didnt spend any time together since their 2 or 3 year long childmarriage they both endured. And i am also thinking even children werent initiative, but they were also kept apart from each other . As regents and other powerful adults wanted to have more power and bigger chance to getting closer to the crown through marriage. And if jahaera or aegon needs to be chosen to get rid of , that would be jahaera in their eyes as jahaera being declared the heir and sitting on the crown could be a potential for other female heirs being set aside question their rights. Therefore i feel jahaera was chosen for to be killed instead of aegon , just because of the gender not because of whether this is green or black case.

Anyway i should just get to my question , in the book cannon, after jahaera’s suicide(murder), aegon the third reportedly give jahaera’s own doll to myrielle peake(hand of the king’s daughter)

this is sooo weird to me, and i genuinely dont think george martin just put it out that detail for no reason. Apparently in the book myrille played with the doll as if it was a real one so thats a obvious hint to how myrielle and her father the hand of the king wants myrille as queen very much. But what i can not understand is why the hell aegon had jahaera’s doll and gave it to myrille, like why did it have to be jahaera’s own doll

do you have any insight into this detail in the fire blood book? Why would aegon give jahaera’s doll to myrielle when he could just gift brand new doll to myrielle? Its not like aegon the third would be short of money to buy a simple 1 doll.

and aegon the third and jahaera were said several tomes in the book how they had no contact no closeness nothing between them, they only sat quietly next to each other in formal royal events which was again so rare.

i wonder maybe that was not the case? Maybe they just started to be friends and hand of the king got scared and thats why he insteaf of murdering jahaera later he did it before aegon the third would get attached to her better?

And also what do u think of jahaera and aegon the third pairing in general? I love daenaera so much and i dont think daenaera made aegon feel anything negative but i feel jahaera and aegon could had reached deeper feelings whereas i felt daenara was superficial beautiful positive distraction

Hey, sorry I'm answering so late ... I usually take off from the computer on Friday-Saturday and then come back on Sunday Night - though I'm writing this at 4:30AM on a Monday Morning.

And, I feel you, times are pretty lean around here too on a personal level and as a writer I tend to retreat to fictional worlds - my own or others - to get through the day. Which is why I get sucked into Downton Abbey and HOTD. So, I got you ... you're among friends on that regard.

I'm not sure I've got an inside track to GRRM's thinking, though we tend to be kindered spirits in terms of writing tact and methods. I've just been a fan for a good thirteen years and used to get into the weeds with fan theories and the like.

I'll be honest with you, Aegon III giving away Jaehaera's doll like that really, really - REALLY - bothered me. It's a personal tick of mine, probably because I've always been a pretty poor guy and didn't have a lot of toys - I've learned to be a book and imagination kinda person. So, I get super sentimental about toys - especially dolls. And it twisted me up inside when I read that.

I would be wary of believing "Fire & Blood" because it isn't a reliable source of the actual events - it is written and sourced by many unreliable narrators with their own agendas. So, the idea that Jaehaera and Aegon III had no contact or closeness can't really be taken as fact when, most likely, the conspirators who murdered Jaehaera fucked with the records.

To be honest with you, Jaehaera and her death is another casualty of "Oh shit, this is gonna be part of a TV Show ... let me change this." Because, when I first read "A Song of Ice and FIre" and "Dunk and Egg" Aegon and Jaehaera where the parents of Daeron, Baelor, Daena, and the others. Daeron "The Young Dragon" was literally named after Daeron "The Daring" because he was the uncle of Jaehaera and a hero to the common people of Westeros. It made sense.

Now, I've come back to the fandom a few years to see that GRRM has got a Velaryon hard-on and that he killed off Jaehaera and changed it so that Aegon III ended up marrying his niece or some shit. So now, naming their eldest kid Daeron makes absolutely no sense other than perhaps Aegon III admired Daeron a lot as a kid, despite the fact that Daeron was the biggest reason for Rhaenyra's death.

I'm sad to say that the doll part is something new to me that I, myself, have only read recently and I cannot grasp for the life of me the point of that little detail, beyond, Aegon III was just trying to be nice. Though, I would subscribe to your theory that Aegon and Jaehaera were probably closer than the book lets on, close enough that he would keep her favorite dolly when she was gone and think it important.

I don't know, man ... that whole retcon to the end of the war bothers me a lot. There isn't a point to it other than GRRM trying to shoehorn in the Velaryons wherever he can to make them more important so that people will care about them in the upcoming show.

Also, I still have my first edition " A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" Illustrated hardcover version that still has Jaehaera Targaryen as Daemon Blackfyre's grandmother and Aegon II and Helaena marked as his Great-Grandparents. And the post script that says that Aegon V (Egg) married his older sister, not a Blackwood.

um um um. evelynn and milo ummm ...... these two dont have a super developed story yet ehmmm ,,,,, my most developed oc is fran but i get embarrassed talking about them for too long ehgjehfje

ok um evelynn and milo grew up in a lab, it's the only hospital in their small town (greenlake) so everyone goes there. 'greenlake medical center and labs.' behind the hospital front is a huge fucking lab. that's where evelynn and milo grow up, till theyre about ,,, 13 years old. atp one of the employees is beginning to feel guilty for working at this lab. it's not the best place to its 'subjects'. evelynn staring at him through the camera as if she can actually see him and sending him 'signals' on pieces of paper is not helping.

eventually he decides. he's breaking these kids out. he's become attached to these two and his job is rotating him out of this position soon anyway. and he does successfully! he adopts the two, quits his job, and flees greenlake ehmmm ,,,,, sparknotes version of the lore god 😵‍💫

so evelynn is a mechanics and sciences FREAK. she loves fucking around with chemicals, taking shit apart and building shit, she loves science. most of her stuff is to "make her and milo's lives easier" (it usually doesnt). she would drink a random chemical if prompted. when their new dad adopts them and breaks them out and they get a new home, the garage is fully dedicated to evelynn's Weird Shit. her room is full of it too. she's weird. milo loves to garden and knit and sew. he enjoys crafting as well.

evelynn also has extremely minor telepathic abilities. speaking into other's minds and influencing/morphing their moods is really it.

evelynn's flooded the house before on accident. she's also set a couple fires. she's a whizz with chemicals and mechanics though. milo is very withdrawn, shy, has a horrible fear of people and thinks everyone has intent to hurt him (he gets a bit better with it), evelynn is very outgoing, incredibly strange, and a little bit dense. no one knows if its on purpose or she's just Like That naturally. /silly

evelynn and milo both produce a translucent green material from their skin that can be shaped, hardened, and also reabsorbed back into their skin. they are twins and are both trans in the opposite directions. the material they produce can be used as functional objects (for example, a pair of scissors) but it must be reabsorbed after a while or it'll just disappear. they cant make permanent objects. they also have teeny tiny horns <3 this doesnt have much significance its jusr smth ive kept due to sentimental reasons from their first designs. it does not signal that theyre underworlders, theyre just little horns. cause i can.

my current brainstorm point for them is theyre chips off of a previous person or something. or something split evelynn and milo into two different people . grain of salt here its still a brainstorm point . um

tldr evelynn is a weird fucking Person and milo likes to garden and is Scared thank you goodnight . sorry if any of this is like actually unintelligible or the grammar got killed somewhere i got . very giddy. their dad does not have a name yet i forgot to do that when i made him. he does have a super rusted and beat up truck that is probably going to fall apart at any second though.

Oh hi!!? It’s always a bit of a surprise to get any likes on my Horrible Histories movie posts, I sorta send them into the void for self satisfaction😆, but it was even more surprising when your username popped up! I hope you’re feeling better. For the playlist ask game, obviously I’m asking if you’ve got any songs for Atti and Orla.

What a pleasant surprise! 🥰 I got such a good laugh out of your Horrible Histories movie post, and it made my whole day so thank you so much for that! 😊 It really is a small fandom world, isn't it? Thank you so much for the well wishes and for the ask! 🥰 I have to admit that I am positively giddy to have an excuse to think about Horrible Histories: The Movie! 😁

To tell you the truth, I actually have a whole playlist of songs for Atti and Orla [I call it "Of Love and Sundials" because I amuse myself 😅]. Of course, they have a lot of wonderful canonical songs already (including a (sort of?) love song. That second verse and also the Latin translation makes me think it's a love song, but I suppose it's up to interpretation). Anyway... unfortunately those songs are not available to listen to in my country or to purchase internationally (believe me I've looked into it) which has been such a frustration when the songs get stuck in my head. (True pain is running around humming "something something sharing" for two weeks at time with no respite 😂). My sister and I actually once physically typed out all the lyrics to one of the songs by pausing the actual movie over and over with subtitles, and I also translated part of Atti's part of "Orla Alone" into the original Latin when I super bored once (my teachers would be so thrilled to know how I was utilizing my many years of "serious" Latin knowledge 😂). But mostly, I just made a playlist of non-Horrible Histories songs (and I got really, really attached to song "Lost in The Woods" from Frozen 2) as a way to fill the void. Dead Deku AU // Figurines (～￣▽￣)～

Corruption

I started out writing this in a way that badmouths WoW and its concept of corruption and...

Actually that's kind of fair, but there was some unfair splash damage going on.

See, the concept of corruption as it appears in Warcraft 3 is pretty good. WoW's continuation of that is...fine. Neutral, because it's not new writing, really. And I never found him super interesting AS Lich King; The story is in how he BECAME the Lich King.

Anyway.

WoW has a bunch of corruption scenarios and unfortunately a lot of times the writers treat it as this...evil personality goop? Get too much goop on ya, and now you've got the evil personality. This writing of corruption is outrageously lazy and narratively destructive. Like, it devalues the writing that's already been done, AND doesn't generally add much.

The corruption of Arthas in Warcraft 3 is personal - preying on his pride, yes, classic, but also on his desire as a fledgling prince to protect his kingdom against an unknown and horrifying threat. The sentiment of "I'll do whatever is necessary to protect this kingdom" gets carried by his corruption to its illogical extreme of "including burning down a city of my own citizens."

This is actually a good use of corruptive power in storytelling! When corruption magnifies some positive trait and twists it into something bad, that still means its presence in the story was magnifying a character trait, giving us insight into the character's deepest motivations.

The problem with the goop method is it often overwrites the existing character. Some new writer can't be arsed to read the lore for the character they're now lead writer for, so they just say "Fine, he gets corrupted by The Darkness and he's super evil now. I guess we'll keep his vibes as I understand them from watching two Youtube videos and skimming an art book." This is what I mean by "narratively destructive."

Now, I want to mention that this contrasts with one of the best-known stories of corruption in fiction, the One Ring. That thing isn't really personal so much as an allegory for the exhaustion attached to trying to do the right thing, the general corrupting nature of power, and the way that even the bravest and noblest people need a friend willing to check them and warn if they're starting to go off the deep end.

Having corruption attached to both of those disparate concepts is where a lot of the confusion comes in. One great use of corruption is as a lens to view our falling hero's psyche more closely (and perhaps via funhouse mirror distortion) but that's not a definition of what corruption in fiction is or should be, and it's not even the only good use.

But I maintain that if I ask why a beloved blorbo has a heel turn and you say "corruption" you haven't really answered the question.

4. Is there an item your character liked that they can’t get back?

Her laptop </3 She loves that thing to bits but it's completely destroyed when she uses it as a blunt force weapon. TECHNICALLY she could just get herself a new laptop, but not only do they not make laptops in that model anymore (It's old as helllllll), but she's also got the "sentimental about every object ever" autism and misses HER laptop specifically </3

12. Does your character personify objects?

Not super. A little bit, she'll use he/she pronouns for objects you wouldn't traditionally, but she doesn't really personify them much, though as mentioned in the last answer, she gets reeeeeeal attached to them anyways and feels MISERABLEEE when her stuff breaks </3

What flavor would your character say their personality is?

Hmm... she'd probably answer with "sour" but not in the way of like, the actual act of Someone Being Sour, she just likes sour food. I feel like if you wanted to get complex with it she'd say like. a salad dressing of some kind. This makes sense to me I PROMISE

3. Is your character more prone to fight or flight?

FLIGHTTTTTTTTT GIRL STOP RUNNING!!!!!!! Though she's seen her way through the whooole spectrum, her original death has her response as freeze, and when she thinks there's a second break-in down the line, her response is fight (That's where her laptop gets broken </3 RIP Maggie's laptop). Overall though her panic response tends to be "get me the fuck out of here" and her kind of extended breakdown she has at the end has her literally just running away repeatedly

4. Does your character believe in myths and fairy tales?

YESSSS very much so. Given that she's spent her entire life being told ghosts aren't real when They Very Much Are and she KNOWS they are, basically every other myth or fairy tale or anything she's told isn't true she's a LOT more skeptical on the person telling her its not true. Generally she doesn't fully believe in like, magic creatures or anything, but like... she definitely believes in bigfoot. She's probably one conversation away from believing in mothman. And even with "doesn't believe in magic creatures" she'd lean more in the way of "there's some supernatural element at play, but not outright magic". The only thing she definitively does NOT believe in is alien encounters, since she CONSTANTLYYY gets ghosts telling her they'll tell her where aliens are kept in exchange for favors, and they're NEVER telling the truth

11. Does your character have strong willpower?

Hmm... probably not. But that's kind of the point. She's very much grown up being told she's wrong about how the world works despite knowing clear as day everyone else is wrong, but she's also very nonconfrontational, so while she's not giving up on her beliefs easily, she's very quick to just shut down and let people do whatever they want and she'll just let them run their course without correcting them. She also has like... zero willpower in trying to make herself do anything </3 Executive dysfunction SWEEP

14. Is there a secret thing your character longs to hear?

She wants literally anyone to tell her she's not crazy. She wants apologies from her parents and her brother for never believing her. The only people who support her status as a medium are people who clearly don't know what they're talking about, or people who are just saying she's not to try and reason with her rather than actually believe her because they know she's right. At this point she doesn't tell anyone about her seeing ghosts, because it's easier than having to deal with people who don't believe her, or people who want her to perform stupid party tricks with her ability, but she so desperately wants someone who actually resonates with her and understands even a modicum of what she's experienced. She does Not vocalize this however because it just gets met with MORE pitying and in general just not the responses she wants, plus she's intensely nonconfrontational and Voicing Her Opinions is part of that

KARD's four-song debut project is one of my favorite debuts--not only does it remain a k-pop classic, but it also produced one of my favorite songs ever. As I'm checking out KARD's newest comeback, I wanted to reflect on the k-pop debuts that have stuck with me in the same way KARD's did.

[Rules: B-sides from the debut album count because I said so!! Also, I tried not to pick obvious ones--like of course ShinEE's "Replay" and Yena's "Smiley" are awesome, but I think most of us already know that!]

Hot Issue -- 4Minute: This can't be my favorite 4Minute track, since "Volume Up" and "Crazy" exist, but it's REALLY fun. It's catchy, and the members really lean into the concept in a way that foreshadows later greatness. With a debut like this, it's hard not to love 4Minute, I think.

I Will Show You -- Ailee: Since "Heaven" was just a single, I'm not counting it as an official debut (plus, I like this one better, anyway)! "I Will Show You" is a transcendent showcase of vocal power that hits me right in the heart and carved out a space just for Ailee in my memory from first listen.

Fight Day -- Bol4: I actually didn't know that this was their debut until I looked it up and checked, but it's always been my favorite from their first album. It's alt-rock with a little bit of bite to it, added mostly by Bol4's unique vocals, and it's still one of their best songs.

One of Those Nights -- Key: This was actually my favorite song ever for a solid year or so, though Phoebe Bridgers eventually knocked it out of the top spot. The chorus just never stops hitting for me, transporting me to the soft, sentimental world of my favorite Webtoons with just a few notes.

Yolowa -- GWSN: This does a great job of displaying their signature super-sweet sound while pairing it with maybe their most memorable melody ever ??? Too good to be a b-side, truly.

Stay Up -- Baekhyun: Another b-side, but this album is too good for people to just listen to "UN Village." This track is a very soothing combo of a catchy chorus and muted tones--in other words, it's a perfect intro to his later albums!

Bon Bon Chocolat -- Everglow: I know everyone thought "So Bad" was pop perfection, but I'm actually kind of meh on it--which is especially weird considering that StayC is my favorite k-pop group! "Bon Bon Chocolat" is my "So Bad," icy but full of flavor. I think a lot of people liked "Bon Bon Chocolat" when it came out, but I don't hear about it enough anymore, so I'm bringing it back as an act of public service!

Flowering -- Lucy: This may well be my favorite Lucy song, and they've released some absolutely BEAUTIFUL stuff since. Right from their debut, they've had the bittersweet sound perfected, and this track is a wonderful demonstration of that.

Swear -- E'Last: I still vivdly remember experiencing this debut--the title track is grandiose, even a bit too melodically complex for a pop release, which fascinated me and kept me attached listen after listen, trying to figure out all the pieces of the song. Their vocalists take the challenge well, though, giving a performance to remember. Still their best song!

Ponzona -- Purplekiss: I'm glad "Sweet Juice" brought orchestral Purplekiss back, because I think its lush instrumental is exactly what made their debut so great. Though I haven't loved too much of their music since, I think I keep tuning in because of just how much I enjoyed this one.

Glassy -- Jo Yuri: The best Jo Yuri--a musical balancing act, a stunt I can't look away from, with equally delightful sections of chaos and order. Sweet and charming, but just dangerous enough to keep me interested from start to finish!

A channel I like, kpop stuffs, actually released a video ranking fourth gen debuts while I was working on this post! It's cute you should watch!! "Glassy" is way too low I'm crying (/j), but it's FINE I'll live I guess...

from my observations here's what your favourite Gorillaz character may say about you ^^

2-D- This can go one of a few different ways- either you really enjoy a good lovable dumbass or you're drawn to his trauma. Or you just like his design/sentimental attachment (but that can be said for literally any of them so yeah-) While 2-D isn't a dumbass all the time, nowadays he's sort of been flanderized and that's just how a lot of people know him. Anyway! If he's your favourite you're a softie in some way, even if you don't know it. You're very lovable and probably valued very deeply by your friends, they really love you and value your friendship despite your flaws. You might be a bit odd and you may even be bullied, but strangely it doesn't phase you much and if it does, it's all at once in a big breakdown once you really get to thinking about everything that's happened to you. You're definitely a creative type in a lot of ways, and you're probably an animal lover with a lot of different, intense interests. Maybe a bit spacey, but people take you for granted and you surprise them with your wisdom. Also, you really enjoy early 2000s fashion and grunge-esque aesthetics along with weirdcore and just, knives in general

Murdoc- You enjoy a good bastard. Just, an absolute piece of garbage. Yes. Or, you are drawn to his abusive tendencies due to your own trauma- OR you empathize with his trauma and actions because something similar has happened to you. You tend to be a bit more aggressive and sarcastic, but you're still very sensitive and you feel bad when you accidentally hurt your friends feelings, even if you won't admit that to them. You may be emotionally distant at times but you always feel your emotions very deeply. You may struggle with addiction, whether that's to hard drugs or even just your phone. You tend to have frequent mental breakdowns but hide this fact from your loved ones. (its okay to ask for help!) You may feel regret for a lot of things, but that's ok! it shows you're growing. I believe in you. ...Alternatively, you could just be drawn to his charisma and find comfort in his quirks

Russel- You're a great cook or you're a picky eater. You always notice when someone in the group is being ignored, and you're INCREDIBLY intuitive and empathic. You don't talk very much, but when you do, you always have an air of wisdom about you. People really love being around you and grow close to you abnormally quickly. You have a comfortable presence. You are incredibly loyal and will always stand up for your friends. You may struggle with paranoia or obsessive tendancies. You're the mom of the group and always make sure everyone's doing okay, constantly monitoring their moods and resolving conflicts.

Noodle- depending on the phase you either just really like kid characters or really love a good badass. You probably like Pokémon. You definitely had a neko oc at some point. You tend to hide your pain from others but it comes out eventually. You're annoyed by people who won't listen to what you tell them and hate being talked at. You really hate when things don't go your way. People see you as mature but you're still a kid inside and and never developed the best coping mechanisms because you had to suffer the worst of your trauma alone. You feel that nobody will ever understand what you've been through so you just keep quiet about it.

Cyborg Noodle- I dont know how to describe it but you have the saddest, happiest most broken and empathetic energy about you. You have abandonment issues and are likely nonbinary. People tend to view you as immature. You're very insecure.

Del- You're super bubbly and outgoing- and very impulsive. You get along with basically everyone despite pissing a bunch of people off. People just tend to forgive you super quickly because you're just so fun to be around. Although you're friends with everyone, you only have one very good friend, but they're your everything.

Ace- You grew up on the Powerpuff Girls and theres an 89% chance you had a crush on him as a kid. The bulk of your love for him is sentimental. You're a nostalgia nut and an absolute goblin. Your fav colour is def green and you've been a villain sympathizer as long as you can remember. A sense of humour is something you really value in a friendship. You like to keep things light because you grew up in a chaotic environment and you really just want to retire, emotionally. You're highly dependent, loyal, and appreciative of your friends.

Paula- You love a good underdog AND a bastard. You're an advocate and you're very defensive of her. You're emotionally mature and socially aware. Also, you love late 90s and early 2000s fashion. You're big brain, point blank, and probably a leader. People may see you as aggressive but in a positive way.

Sal- you're a liar, no, he's not your favourite

A little pleased when he first hears this; probably teases you about having to share a birthday with him but otherwise doesn’t comment on it much AT FIRST

Then he realizes that he actually looks forward to celebrating his birthday a lot more because he knows it’s also your birthday

He likes being able to share this day with you (somewhat smug about it in some cases if his brothers are jealous), because his birthday really doesn’t mean that much to him, with all the years he’s lived

But with you, he looks forward to every year and to being able to celebrate his birthday (and yours) with you

If you make comment about how happy he looks about it, he’ll get all flustered but won’t deny it; but if YOU say you’re happy about being able to share his special day with him, he’ll look at you so softly

Sharing his birthday with you makes him feel a little special-- because this is something that’s truly only between you and him-- and he has some really strong urges to just steal you away on your shared birthdays just so you can spend the entire day together

Mammon

Super hyped about it and very smug about it to the point that even if his brothers didn’t care before, they definitely do now

Tells everyone that sharing birthdays is proof of his superiority as your first man (somehow-- it doesn’t really make sense but his brothers bristle at it anyways)

Very, very happy that he gets to share his birthday with you-- like ridiculously happy-- because his birthday was HIS day but now it can be the BOTH of your days and that’s something, isn’t it?

He always loves it when his birthday gets around but it’s even better now that he knows he can revel in that feeling with you

Doesn’t think about the probability or anything like that, but indulges in the excitement that it brings him, being able to plan and prepare for two birthday bashes in one day

Gives him the excuse to go all out because he knows his brothers would have let him indulge himself but now that you’re involved he knows none of them would dare complain about the extravagance of everything and you bet he’s taking advantage of that HAHA

He’s planned everything way before and he always includes you in the planning-- it’s an excuse to spend time with you, but also to get to know you more, knowing how you would like to celebrate-- and him being able to fulfill your wildest dreams for you

The most mild reaction out of all his brothers

He thinks it’s neat that you share birthdays but it doesn’t necessarily change how he feels about wanting to celebrate you on that day or how he feels about your relationship

If anything, he thinks it’s a little funny because that means you, Belphie, and him are all born on the same day and-- wait, does that mean he gets even MORE food if they’re celebrating more than two birthdays?

Most definitely asks this to Lucifer, who only stares at him from his desk before burying his face into his hands

He may have the mildest reaction, but the things he says about being able to share his birthday with you are very sweet

He’d very inadvertently embarrass you by saying stuff like “Do you think we could have sang happy birthday the same time you were born?” or “Now I’ll never forget your birthday. I’m glad we get to celebrate something nice like that together.”

Beel is a very honest and honest, straightforward person when he speaks, so he’ll be so sweet to you when he talks about being able to celebrate such a happy occasion together-- birthdays made him happy but being able to celebrate the birth of his two favorite people in the world is even better

Belphegor

“Oh, okay. So does that mean we don’t have to buy presents for each other?”

Laughs when you throw a pillow at him in response, but he’s kidding (mostly)

Definitely is the type of person who would joke about you, Beel, and him being triplets now because you’re all born on the same day and that now you have to stay forever because of it (kidding! Sort of)

He teases you if you’re a little happy with this discovery but for the most part Belphie himself, much like Beel, has a very mild reaction; much like his twin as well, he does admit that thinking about being able to celebrate his birthday with his two favorite people make him a little soft

Even he’s prone to some romantic thoughts, fantasizing about being able to spend the entire day together with you-- because honestly, what are the odds that he has another person he shares birthdays with? And it happens to be the other person he happens to really care about

If you address that it makes you happy that you get to celebrate birthdays together, he’ll blush and try to brush it off as not a big deal, but you know he’s happy about it too

Helios- A Character Study

I have always been fascinated by Helios so I’m especially excited about this post! If there’s any other additional information you would like to add, ask, or discuss, feel free to send an ask or a post so I can adjust and clarify for you. But before that, I have other things I want to add that are important regarding my blog- I will be expanding and analysing other characters in MLQC, so not to worry Victor, Kiro and Lucien (and Shaw, Eli?, Savin?) stans! I has't not hath left thee! In addition, before every analysis/study that I do, I will post a hint (such a quote) that will foreshadow the upcoming character/topic I will be covering. I know it’s not necessary and literally nobody does it but this is great fun for me so I also want to try to make it fun for you guys to approach my blog and my work! This is a spoiler buffet. Please don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled! This is probably the longest post ever on my blog so enjoy :)

Who is Helios?

??: Do you know what Helios means? The mocking in his face had returned. He suddenly came close and placed his hand on the window behind me. I was imprisoned in his arms and couldn’t move. His eyes drilled into my own. I felt that if I showed even the smallest hint of discomfort or fear, he would use that as an excuse to push me away. MC: Helios is the sun god from Greek mythology- ??: I don’t like that name.

Helios is the God of the Sun, sight and a guardian of oaths. He is seen to be riding a golden chariot to bring the sun across the skies each day from east (where the sun rises) to west (where the sun sets).

Kiro has lots and lots and lots of sun, light, dark and shadow imagery attached to him. Kiro is noted to be everyone’s sun, especially for MC and vice versa as she’s noted to be the one to chase the darkness away with Kiro following through. When he has those stage moments as his idol identity, it’s expected for him to be the guiding light (especially for his fans, the Kirophiles)- “the sun” and “hope” as to what “Kiro” represents, without any impurities associated with that persona. Which is ironic for Helios, who dressed mostly in black without the blonde hair, to have that same name as the God of the Sun working in BLACK SWAN- the organisation with the name literally having “black” in it as well.

“If Kiro is this exuberance and this life, Helios is the opposite of that. It’s what if we took someone who stopped finding reasons to be happy, who stopped finding a lot of things to be passionate about and was just trying to get on day by day- they react to the things that happen to them, rather than going out to look for adventure. Helios lacks a lot of emotion that Kiro has.” -Sean Chiplock, Kiro’s VA

Kiro and Helios

“If I had a dark side… I should hide it from others, right…? Can I really be imperfect?”

There had been a lot of discussion around Helios in relation to his transformation, whether he was acting and what Kiro’s connection with BLACK SWAN is.

To clarify, yes- Kiro is Helios. Helios is Kiro. Just like how Kiro admitted to MC that he’s also the hacker KEY. Helios is just one of the personas that Kiro has (which I will expand on in a future post). This, however, does not hinder negatively on Kiro’s personality, but introduces us to another side of him, one that shows effective in-depth characterisation. Especially when we first view him as the cheerful idol with the power to passively attract others. Kiro first gave off the certain impression to Sean Chiplock that you “don’t take off the calm and quiet person, because you don’t want to see the other side of them”.

Kiro and Helios, which one was the real him? Neither? Or both? -Clinic Date

Before MC has her first encounter with Helios, we have to look more into Kiro’s background and childhood.

Kiro was experimented on as a kid. He didn’t know his name, his birthday or where he came from. Through the experiments of genetic modification, he obtained his evol. Only when MC and the original KEY came to him, did he really strive to fulfil his sense of purpose of “we shall stand in darkness as we defend the light”, and also to protect MC back. His mentor used to be the original Helios, one of the twelve-ranking positions in BLACK SWAN, but went missing when Kiro was 15. Been given the name Kiro, using his idol identity, accepted this as Helios and as of the leader of BLACK SWAN to rid Leto- the true evil of the Season 1 timeline.

It is evident that he does genuinely care about his fans, his career and music despite all of this. This aspect of him is very much true (we see that he exposes a person scamming his fans in Chapter 3 and that in his various dates he dedicates his work to comforting his fans in their everyday lives). However, with this much love and support from everyone with very few knowing his true intentions and darker past, it is easy to “trip up” upon these identities, in a way that he would feel so lonely (as I reiterate what I said above) that everyone would think he’s the perfect man (not saying he isn’t because we all know he is!) without any troubles or experiencing difficulties climbing up the ranks to be where he is now- especially with his evol being charm and control. He would wonder if it’s really him or his evol making people act this way towards him (why he has this much love and attention).

In reality, every teacher who has met him adored him very much. But because of this, Kiro always remained in fear. From the beginning to the end, he had felt that the love and care from others was akin to smoke - surging at first, but from thereafter, dissipates gradually. -CN Stunning Young Idol Rumours and Secrets

He’s like a little sun with no dark spots at all. No wonder people say people say he has a super power. He seems to be loved by everybody… -Chapter 3-1

“A lot of people adore me, but only when I’m doing my thing on stage. They wouldn’t want to see me now...” -Visiting Hours Date

It would be incredibly hard for him to keep this standard and uphold these burdens with his identity as Helios and KEY as well- where everyone would believe those personas of him to be the “vice”- the “evil”, in morality play. Because when the people who love you only know and love this side of you, what becomes of you when you lose it all?

Superstar Kiro was a little angel who received the admiration and respect of thousands and thousands of fans. What the hacker KEY sounded like was someone with malicious intentions.

Kiro didn’t know which one of his identities was more famous. Though of course, nobody would correlate these two polar-opposite identities together. -CN Heavens Home for Children Rumours and Secrets

He always looked so carefree in front of people, smiling and laughing. But when he was alone in the corner, he always looked so solemn and tired. Countless times, Savin had wanted to talk to Kiro about his work, life and feelings but with just a few words, Kiro would always put him to ease. -That Boy Makes Me Worry Rumours and Secrets

However, behind his brilliant smile, I could occasionally feel something different. It was like paper that couldn't be penetrated. After all, he was a superstar. Ordinary people like us wouldn't understand their world, they must have one or two faces of their own behind the screen. -Secret Base Rumours and Secrets

In the makeup room, sitting on the sofa, Kiro had lost some shine he had under the spotlight and looked a little bit exhausted. -Confession Date

In a way, Kiro still staying so pure and happy when others are around is because he doesn’t want people to suffer like he did. He had an extremely rough time when he was young, but his beliefs, light and hope that MC gave him allowed him to fight for better days.

I then thought about the superstar Kiro many years later, who was always shining and effortlessly charming. This made me really sentimental. How many things must he have been through to become strong enough to bring light to other people? -Echoes of Time: Parisian Salon

She looked so pretty when she smiled, and she also had a father who loved her dearly. She was definitely… someone who deserved to live the most. -CN Top Experimental Subject Rumours and Secrets

His dazzling smile conceals something underneath, just like how the dazzling sun shrouds darkness underneath. Hidden in the depths of his own secrets are things even darkness doesn’t know of. If darkness had a mind of its own, it might think it doesn’t fit with this pure and simple youth. Just as how everyone thinks of him as a simple, innocent Kiro, the sunlight casted on him, able to pierce through him completely, with rays of light refracting onto the floor. Actually, since a very long time ago, he no longer was a youth… But now, for her sake, he’s willing to become a youth again. -CN Youthhood Rumours and Secrets

The thing I like most about you is that you never admit defeat and you always stay positive. Every time I see you it's like you’re this brilliant sun and I feel charged of energy. Maybe all the lonely times I’ve been through... was so that I could meet you. -Confession Date

When they were younger, they were together as test subjects for evol. MC promised him donuts. He gave her a stuffed teddy bear. Kiro tried to help MC escape but they got caught and separated. They had spent quite some time together, so Kiro would be able to recognise MC once they had met again. Kiro had to replace another child for a top experiment, and the workers thought he’d die anyway as he was too weak. But still, he had survived and became the first and only successful subject. MC showed him that there was kindness- light- that still existed in the darkest of places. And in the darkest parts of his heart, there was MC to light those areas up for him :)

“Look, this world is so beautiful, and you don’t need to be afraid anymore.” But till now, he has yet to find her. But he remembers her eyes. And one day, he will find her within a vast sea of people.

Kiro remains speechless- quietly listening to the little girl speak. The little girl struggles to pull on his hand. Their fingers interlock together, the warmth from her palm gradually coursing into Kiro’s heart. “Don’t be afraid. I’ll protect you.” Kiro turns to look at her - to look at her perseverant brown eyes, looking at how the corners of her lips turn upwards. Kiro slowly learns how to curl the corners of his own lips from her. It’s the first smile to have appeared on his face. “This time, I’ll be the one protecting you.” Kiro says excitedly. He stands outside the airport, staring directly at the sun. “I’ll find you, and protect you. I even have a mountain of souvenirs stored in my luggage- I’ll give them to you! And my purest heart - I’ll give it to you too!” -CN Youthhood Rumours and Secrets

Helio’s Transformation

“Because only you can awaken me from darkness, no matter when.”

When Kiro transforms to Helios, it mainly affects his physical appearance. His hair grows longer and changes to colour, and his black (and super cool) NIRVANA tattoo appears. When he is weak, the tattoo fades (seen in Clinic Date.)

Nirvana- a transcendent state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects of karma and the cycle of death and rebirth. It represents the final goal of Buddhism.

I looked at his silver hair. It looked very natural with no signs of hair dye. In the serene moonlight, it was very beautiful. It wasn’t dyed, and it didn’t look like it turned silver because of an illness or something. -Chapter 17

Helios’s ring also plays part of his transformation. This is ultimately connected to BLACK CABIN and the 1908′s White House Explosion- when evol was born. From this high-dimensional space, Kiro is able to take on as Helios- who also known to be BS’s first generation of god. He can change upon his will, and influences from BLACK CABIN/QUEEN can cause him to lose control.

The golden hair mixed with the bright silver. He raised his finger, and the silver ring flashed. He muttered quietly, as if speaking to the ring and to himself. -Behind The Curtain Part 6: After Returning

Moonlight shone through the window, illuminating his silver hair with a golden glow for an instant. He buried his face in his right elbow, and large beads of sweat formed on his brow, as if a kind of uncanny transformation was occurring. “NOT NOW!!!” He howled hoarsely, his eyes now golden in the darkness. Chapter 14

He turned and looked at me, his face a pallid white. His smile was still gentle. Suddenly, I felt intensely uneasy.

MC: “We’re going in, right?”

Kiro didn’t answer, his eyes intent on me gleamed with a flash of golden light above. When I looked carefully, I discovered his eyes turned into this exquisite gold like pure amber, or crystallised time.

Kiro: “I command you…”

I have never heard him sound like this before. Stiff, stern and solemn.

“All within my range of control belongs to me. Now walk onto the rooftop, lock the door, and don’t let anyone in… including me... Don’t be afraid. You’ll be okay. I said before, I will definitely succeed this time. I will always protect you.”

In saying this, he believes that his own sacrifices are necessary, no matter what the situation is. Kiro is willing to dim or even smother his own light and sun for MC to be safe and happy.

A black figure suspended in the air behind Kiro, just like scythe-toting Death himself… I seemed to see a golden-winged bird fly by, like a ray of light crossing the sky, leaving a temporary light trail in my vision.

“Death”, “golden-winged bird”, and “light”.

This sentence was highlighted in the chapters’ outline from the chapter contents. This implies the symbolism of the phoenix bird- the mythical bird that rises from the ashes and is reborn again. Kiro was captured by BLACK SWAN as punishment and had undergone modification- and was resurrected as Helios.

Chapter 17

He was standing in front of me. Half of his face was hidden in the shadows, but I could see the sharpness of his eyes and eyebrows. He took the notebook away from my hands before I could finish my sentence.

As MC gets tied to the table, flashbacks from suppressed memories emerge. We see Kiro and MC together being test subjects. (Fun fact- Kiro and MC’s blood type is O!)

White walls. A deserted lab. A cold med table. And a blond boy with agony in his face. Next to him lay a brown-haired girl who was unconscious. …Was that me? I looked at the blood pouring out from the IV. Tears came from my eyes. Kiro… Our lives were connected long before. But where are you now?

She finally realises that Kiro was that boy from the orphanage.

AND I JUST REALISED SOMETHING. HAS HELIOS NEVER OUTRIGHTLY ADMIT THAT HE’S NOT KIRO? LIKE HE NEVER SAID “NO”??

MC: Are you really not Kiro?

??: How long are you going to keep calling me by that wrong name?

(Yes, it’s technically the wrong name because right now he’s called Helios but he’s also technically still Kiro!)

He didn’t sound particularly annoyed, but I felt saddened.

MC: I…

I looked at his face. Every line, feature- they resembled Kiro, but at the same time wasn’t.

MC: I’m sorry… I must be wrong…

I hung my head low. His face may resemble him, but his expressions were so unlike Kiro and I didn’t want to see that.

But my intuition told me that my hunch was not wrong. If that was correct, then one of my paths was already sealed.

Helios: What makes you think that I wouldn’t? You already know where I’m from. Why are you being so naïve? I shook my head. MC: Kiro wouldn’t do this to me… An unknown emotion flashed in his eyes.

Poor Kiro, having to pretend to not know MC and act so cold towards her. It must have been incredibly hard and painful for the both of them. Please just LET THEM BE TOGETHER.

Kiro isn’t risking MC see this darker side of him. He truly doubted if anybody would accept him as Helios, because he was just so used it before as an idol having to act so perfect on screen, showing everybody what they wanted to see.

“MC. Step a meter away from him, and close your eyes.

The golden flashes in his pupils were the last thing I saw before I closed my eyes.

“I command you to forget what just happened. And I command you to forget about me. Remember, I’m just Helios.”

My memories were being erased bit by bit. Kiro was fading from my sight. His smiles, his eyes, his warmth… all of them became vague like a fog and disappeared. I tried my best to hold onto them, but it was all in useless.

Kiro… Even the name I tried to hold on till last was wrenched away from me. He watched silently as MC closed her eyes and blacked out in his arms.

“I’m sorry…”

He apologised again quietly. His eyes that once held warmth and brightness were again now filled with shadows.

“I will find the truth that you’re looking for. I don’t want you to bear that heavy burden. I’ll come back to you some day, but not today. Don’t remember my dark sides. In your eyes, I will always remain Kiro to you. After I take care of everything, things can go back the way they were between us. This time, I’ll make sure that you don’t have to wait long.”

“He looked a lot like Kiro. But it wasn’t him.”

In my palm was a small candy glistening in the sunlight. On impulse I unwrapped the paper and put it in my mouth.

MC: Apple flavour…

It somehow crossed my mind that it was Kiro’s type of flavour.

He wants MC to still have faith in him, and to trust in his abilities to protect her, as the candy is a motif for their relationship and exchange towards each other. (This was the same back in the orphanage when they were together too.) However, as his identity as Kiro, not the Helios she encountered. (Dramatic ironyyyy)

“We shall stand in darkness as we defend the light.”

Thorns Date

In the photo, Kiro looked completely different from what he usually looked like. On the glistening water, a youth held a birdcage, with a glint of melancholy in his drooping eyes. This was the last set of photos before quitting.

Kiro asked for my praise with shiny begging eyes, as if the prior sorrow and blue were all my illusions.

We stood very close to each other, yet at this moment, I felt there was a formed gap between us.

“MC, do you think the imprisoned bird can get out of the cage?”

There seemed to be a ray of golden light flashing through my mind but I couldn't catch it. (The thought that Helios came to see her?? Yes.)

I remember his distance, his apathy, yet puzzling familiarly.

Helios saw the magazine falling from my bag, his face flashing with complicated emotions I couldn’t comprehend. And I felt the familiar feeling of being touched deep in my soul.

“You like gazing at me a lot.”

Standing at the edge of the dark abyss, he opened his arms and leaned backward without hesitation. He fell straightly like a folded winged bird in the moment. (Similes, metaphors and symbolism galore!)

I sat on the ground limply and closed my eyes to avoid the dazzling light. This scene felt so familiar as I had experienced such a farewell.. Why?

My senses told me this man was Helios, yet the feelings from deep of my heart were so real.

“Helios! Do you… know how the imprisoned bird can get out of the cage?”

“Why do you think I will answer this question?” Behind such eyes, there seemed to be something else I couldn’t make out in the shadow.

I seemed to see him unfold a pair of black wings on his back and about to flutter away. No more cages could imprison him and nothing could make him stop. Helios walked from the bright light into the shadow.

He recalled her last question and her sad and confused eyes. Suddenly he recalled an ancient story. There was a kind of bird. It was always trapped in the thorns of fate from the moment of its birth. If the most beautiful thing was doomed to be exchanged with the deepest pain. He would overcome all obstacles to come back to her. And be her sun again.

The story that Helios recalled could be The Nightingale by Hans Christian Andersen.

In Ancient China, one of the forests lived a nightingale, who sang so beautifully everybody would stop and listen. The nightingale was renowned to be the best wonder out of all the things that the travellers abroad had ever seen. However, the Emperor of China didn’t know that such a bird existed, and demand to have it found.

The bird had come willingly to sing for the Emperor, singing so sweetly that tears came out of everybody’s eyes. The nightingale lived in the court thereafter, until one day the Emperor had received a mechanical copy of the bird, golden with precious gems and all. The nightingale had left, and all the courtiers had said that it was an ungrateful creature. It was therefore banished from the empire.

The mechanical bird had stopped working, only being able to play once every year. Five years had passed, and the Emperor fell ill that nobody expected him to live. Death had arrived to the Emperor as he prayed for the bird to sing a note. The living nightingale had appeared again, and had come to sing out of trust and hope for the Emperor. Death went to look at the Emperor’s renowned garden as the Emperor was thankful for the bird’s singing. She sang again, and the sun rose through the window and as everybody thought the Emperor had passed. The Emperor wanted the nightingale to stay by his side but it refused. It cannot live in the palace, but promised to visit the Emperor to sing to him.

Similar to Chapter 14, in this date, Kiro is represented as the bird, trapped in the cage. He had to release what everyone wanted him to be- Kiro, the shining sun/bird trapped in the cage under their control- ironic how his evol is absolute control because his charm would have drawn people this way in as a result. And the only way to be free was to be resurrected, to escape, to disappear from public view- to become free as Helios.

Light Pursuit Date

“Will you forget me?”

Kiro was becoming faint like a water mist. Panicking, I reached out to grab him but he slipped away from my fingers. An invisible wall had come between us and I couldn’t get close to him. This one step was like an unbridgeable gap between us, but it was like a line that we could never cross.

Will I forget Kiro? That sudden question in my head became clearer, and made me tremble in panic.

He had the name of a sun god, but even I couldn’t feel any bit of warmth.

MC: What is Helios here for?

Helios: We meet again, MC.

This was the first time that Helios called me by my name. He was brusque as ever, but there seemed to be a small amount of yearning in his voice. He did not act the way like the Helios that I used to know. His attitude and manners were surprisingly refined… like he was acting out a whole different persona.

The music changed into Por Una Cabeza- the tango song that I was very familiar with.

(I absolutely love the intertextuality that the game has. It’s a Spanish tango song that was also appeared in Scent of a Woman starring Al Pacino where the tango scene featured a blind man dancing with a woman who didn’t know how to dance and was scared of making mistakes. This correlates perfectly for MC and Helios. MC’s body is reacting to Helios as if he was Kiro...)

I didn’t drink, but I felt drunk somehow. Otherwise how else would this reachable warmth and illusion of intimacy familiar?

We were so close to each other, but the distance between us was only one step away, but a step we could never cross.

Helios looked up when he heard my voice. His eyes seemed to have trouble focusing. His blue eyes wavered like a lake sprinkling with sunlight. Surprisingly, there was sorrow, and naivety in those usually unfeeling eyes.

He lowered his head and his chin rested on my shoulder. I have never seen Helios so vulnerable. His hands were wrapped around my waist, leaving no space between us. Helios didn’t answer and continued to keep me pressed to his body. There was a deep aura of loneliness and bitterness about him that was barely discernible from his cold exterior.

Because to me, you were familiar to someone I deeply care about. Because my soul resonates when I am close to you. Because…. of a ridiculous assumption. Did I reach the edge of truth? Or was I just deceiving myself? A thick fog was obscuring me from seeing the truth clearly. I didn’t continue talking or thinking. MaybeI was so vaguely aware that this was the closest I could get to him. Only one step away but a distance I could never close.

MC is also scared. She’s in turmoil. She wants to know the truth but she’s also sitting on the fence with it. Especially due to the memory wipe. It’s like, “maybe it’s better if I don’t,” and “I think you are that someone I care so much about but I can’t be sure about it because even if I ask you, you won’t tell me, and I don’t know what to do.”

Stardust Date

Kiro: That’s right. I’m going to a far, far place. And I will stay there for a very long, long time. Don’t cry when you start missing me. MC: I’m not going to cry!

Kiro: But I will. So promise me, alright? Don’t forget me, even if I leave.

Two days afterwards, I heard him talk to someone on the phone. I’m pretty sure it was his voice, but it sounded like he was a completely different person.

What was he trying to hide? Did it have anything to do with his “leaving”? Was it out of his own will or was he involved in something under duress?

The confident smile on his face as he glided his fingers across the keys fluently, showed his passion for this show. As songs were played after another, he became more focused. I could tell from his expression that he was fully immersed in this performance. As long as he was given a stage and music, he’d become the centre of attention no matter what position he was in. However, the more passion I saw, the more I was scared for his “leaving”. He is the sun- what will happen to his supporters when they lose him? And what about me? What will happen to me?

Light and Shadow Phone Call

MC: Is that melancholy in your voice? It’s unlike you to be down like this.

Kiro: Really? Does everyone think I’m that shallow?

MC: Of course not. But you are the brightest and warmest sun, so it’s easy to be touched by your optimistic side first.

Kiro: But right now, the sunlight is getting too strong that it’s scorching…

MC: Hmm? Is it? right now it’s sunset where you are?

Kiro: Yes. I’m sitting atop of Namibia’s Dune 45 and everything is red. Even the sun is sinking low.

MC: Soon, it will sink beyond the horizon.

Kiro: Yes… Miss Chips, Since you say I’m like the sun, and the sun eventually sets...

Kiro: If I have a dark side, I should hide it from others, right?

MC: Why should you hide it?

Kiro: Because, I don’t want to show you and I don’t want to disappoint others.

MC: But you’re just you, Kiro.

Kiro: I am who I am?

MC: Yes. Why can’t a sun have shadows? Even the real sun has sunspots! People who really care for you will love both the warm sunny side and the occasional dark, depressed side.

Kiro: But I always feel...

MC: Everyone has a side they want to hide in the shadows. No one is expected to be required as perfect. That applies to my little sun as well.

Kiro: Can I really be imperfect?

MC: Absolutely. To me, all sides of you are worth cherishing.

Kiro: Thank you, MC.

MC: What’s there to thank?

Kiro: Because… only you are willing to see the weak and plain side that I’m hiding and accept both my light and my shadow.

MC: That’s why I’m your own personal tree hole! I’ll keep your sorrows tucked away for you!

Kiro: Thank you Miss Tree Hole. I’m so lucky to have you. In fact, you are my sun who gives me light to embrace the world every morning. Thank you, for always being there by my side.

This call is so significant for Kiro, and his battle between light and dark. After his evol went out of control, he’s afraid of hurting his fans and MC. Similes and metaphors are used to compare his evol/different personas as the sun and how it will soon go down. He confronts the truth that he will also have to leave the public view soon, and uses this opportunity of the call to confirm what MC thinks if he had imperfections/shadow sides. And of course, to thank her before he leaves.

Chapter 21 (Winter World)

He was so fast that his moves were a blur. He dodged every attack and landed his own with grace and strength. It was like watching a silver moonlight dancing in flowing moves.

“You seem to be completely ignorant about how weak you are.”

I was trapped in a little cage he made with his body against the wall. The cruelty in his face crumbled the last of my shields. he didn’t stop there. He leaned in with his whole body hemming me into the confined space he created.

Helios: Weaklings should learn to survive on their own. No one will teach you that.

MC: I don’t want to be a weakling forever.

Helios: Then you better figure out how to become stronger.

He dropped his sarcastic tone. Instead, each syllable fell from his mouth with upmost earnestness.

Helios: Use all your strength. Every method you can think of. Abandon your past...even abandon yourself. If you can’t do that, then just go back tot the world you came from.

1562 clutched tightly on his friend’s blanket, refusing to let go. However, in the end, he was shoved onto the ground because his strength was too weak. He had collided so hard that he couldn’t get up for a long while. -CN Top Experimental Subject Rumours and Secrets

If MC hadn’t come, then there would be no real sun in his life. He would only have artificial light. And he would be right- Helios would be just Helios. He wouldn’t bother much about fans or music, but using this identity to climb the system. He had to learn the hard way on how to survive. Nobody was there for him, thus it would be harder for him to feel empathy towards others in situations other than this.

The sun had risen completely. The increasing bright light drowned everything that belonged in the darkness. Helios remembered that day a long time ago. In the darkness, the withered hand touched his head and said faintly, “become Kiro, be the so-called “sun”.

At that time, he had lowered his eyes, nodded blankly, and simply walked out into the night, emitting a false light that was not his own. But today… Helios looked off into the distance, and seeing the dazzling morning light, he remembered the girl… At that moment, he saw the real sun. -Between Light and Darkness Rumours and Secrets

From “Behind The Curtain”, MC fell into the space-time gap and was saved by Helios. Even though he couldn’t see her as they were in different dimensions, she could be influenced by him. This wasn’t the first time that he’s tugged on that bond tying them together to BLACK CABIN. Thank you Helios also for helping bring MC back to her original world.

Chapter 28

Kiro: You should know about everything that I’ve done.

MC: I know that... you’re Helios.

Kiro’s eyes flickered and blinked at me. The golden hair under the now eclipsed sunlight seem to have an extra glow to it. Kiro: Is my name really that important?

MC: Why did you hide it from me? I trusted that you would tell me. That no matter what name you had, you really wouldn’t change...

Kiro: If a superhero were to turn into an arch-villain, would those who always believed in him lose hope? What he want most is for you to be a fairy, free of all cares. Not getting hurt, not getting worries, whose only responsibility is receiving signals and joy and happiness.

Kiro: However, if she is determined to go do something difficult, and she wants to bear this burden on her own... then I wish for her to be a little superhero, who can fly through it all with ease.

Chapter 29

“Don’t get all angry. The person beside you didn't even notice any difference between us. Or put it another way, it seems that “you” aren’t important in this role that you’re playing. Anybody can replace you.” -Anole

Anole is wrong (and just jealous). MC did notice, and plus, he probably wouldn’t have survived in the top experiment that Kiro had undergone in the orphanage. That was something only Kiro would have survived, with his willpower and determination in his heart to make a better life for himself and MC- something that Anole clearly lacks.

I had never seen Helios laugh before. His smile wasn't as dazzling as his golden-haired counterpart’s, but one could say that if the former him was the sun, then his smile was now a gentle moon.

THE IRONYYY. Helios is finally okay with showing this side of him to her, from watching her go through trials and tribulations in the Winter World with the other Helios- of course he wouldn’t want any danger to be near MC, but knowing that she can handle anything after all that she went through, he now knows that it’s better for her to be with him instead. Also he learnt how to smile from her and now he’s smiling again as Helios and I’m just so happy

Whether in the face of violent, nefarious enemies or a wave of blood and bullets, he’d never shown any fear. I got the feeling that he was somehow nervous, or even afraid. Was it because he had to return into the spotlight, back the shower of roses and applause?

Well… when he decided to give all that up and step into the darkness with no turning back, what was he thinking then?

He leaned on the wall and rested awhile, staring intently at the black tattoo on his right arm… he looked at himself in the mirror. His silver strands of hair were tingled with gold, as if bathed in sunlight. And for only that one time, he didn’t avert his gaze from the desire in his eyes. It was like looking at a self portrait—so distant, yet so familiar. It was only now that he realised: this was the moment in his life most worth reliving. Once again, he had become Kiro.

In the PV/Karma (photo down below), we see him wearing black- not as Helios but as Kiro! Again, ironic how he’s holding a comeback concert he’s wearing black, a colour that represents darkness and shadows. It had been noted in the Snooper Rumours and Secrets that this is way out of Kiro’s style wardrobe. However, this signifies a range of things. The two personas are “merging” as he no longer hides this persona to MC- they’re one in the same. It has always been this way and will never change. The colour black also means power and authority, but can mean fear and grief. This is the same outfit when Kiro was doubting himself in the Light Pursuit Date as well.

Right now, if we’re talking moon phases, Kiro right now is in “the void”. Meaning he’s “nowhere”. He’s Kiro but he’s also operating as Helios. He feels nervous to go back but it does come so natural for him to be in the spotlight. He feels stuck at crossroads with himself, especially when he got forced back to perform by Anole.

Ultimately, it’s like he’s saying “no matter what becomes of me, I will always stay true to you.” And I think this is perfectly translated as Kiro says,

“Miss Chips, wait for me.”

(”Wait for me as I fight for us both. So you don’t have to suffer.”) But we suffer either way.

His light and sun has always come from MC. He will always keep running towards his sun, no matter which persona he embodies. This, we can be certain on. (New Season 2 Chapters please don’t oppose this LOL.)

“I await you at the end of the opposite path.”

But okay uhh, I'll just choose 5 (omg it's so hard) also, I'm a huge angst and dark fic lover with endings that don't necessarily end well + mind the tags pls

1. the good days by romanoff (mcu!stevetony)

My Thoughts: what can i say about this fic that I have not already? This fic is so painful and I always reread this fic or honestly, any of romanoff's works when I need a good cry. I personally thought that they wrote depression really well in terms of showing how it hurts the people you love too, which is something that I personally feel I don't really see in other works. So 10/10 from me

2. Saudade by aslightstep (mcu!stevetony)

My Thoughts: This was THE post-cacw fic for me back in 2016, and it honestly still is in my top 3 of post-cacw stevetony fics. I felt that this fic dealt with the fallout of civil war in such a realistic manner. It's basically a "not a love story but a story about love" trope. And BOIII, it's so painful reading it because Steve & Tony clearly love each other still despite everything, but love really isn't enough to make a relationship work sometimes

3. Parody of Illusions by Imperium (616!stevetony)

My Thoughts: Marvel just never follow up on their storylines huh, but anyways this fic imo NAILS 616!Steve's characterisation. This fic deals with the fallout of Hydra!Cap and Steve's thoughts surrounding it. It honestly felt more like a character study with stevetony elements of course

4. parthanatos by ooka (616!stevetony)

My Thoughts: another fic that felt more like a character study than a relationship-centric one, but this time it's tony-centric. this fic is a canon divergent fic that led to tony having to adjust in the future, with only steve as company because the others have died. I thought the writing was superb and i just felt Tony's frustration, helplessness and grief immensely throughout

5. Where Our Restless Monsters Sleep by Mizzy (mcu!stevetony)

My Thoughts: everyone has their THE endgame fix-it fic, this is mine!! It's super long but it honestly did not feel like it. Not only did this fic felt like I was reading a published book with a fantastic plot and characterisations, it honestly felt like something that I can genuinely see happening 10 years (iirc?) in the MCU's future. Definitely a must-read!!!

They really like to feel safe (kinda like taurus) they like to have a home that's secure so they tend to resist change. They can be pretty sentimental. They're guided by their emotions. They're pretty vulnerable and have a deep capacity for love. Very sensitive, can get hurt easily. Can be touchy, dependable and caring

Keeho: libra, air. Very sociable, just really love being with people. Very approachable. They really like balance but they can unintentionally cause problems because they spread themselves too thin. They really have good intentions but they could 100% lie to not create waves. Theyll kind of do anything to keep the peace. They can be pretty indirect/ hate confrontation, which can drive some people mad (🙋🏼‍♀️its me😂)Real masterful at avoiding things. They have high expectations and tend to compare things.

Moons

Theo- scorpio: I love this boy so much wow😭

He's and emotional boyyy. So he really likes emotional intensity. He feels things really deeply. They can really see through to the soul of a person. They unconsciously get uneasy when things are too calm/ easy and might seek emotional excitement/ drama. All or nothing. They dont want flings, they dont start things unless they'll finish them. Ok so they love commitment, they seek it ok, but they're also super cautious and suspicious of everyone. They tend to unintentionally test the people in their lives for loyalty...But after theyve committed they're incredibly loyal and protective😭Some people can be intimidated by them but others are drawn to them. They seem to just know things, crazy good intuition.

Keeho-Aqua, air. Unique, used to being different, shy kids. They're kind of detached and like to observe and try to understand others. So he has pretty strong barriers. Anyway they strive for that equality and diplomacy. Very pleasing communicators. They might be focused on trying to sound smart they forget to listen to the other person😂 They're gentle and adapt to others comfort levels. They are always looking for compromise, they hate absolutes in opinion. Great mediators (wow great leader) They can get lost in indecision because they weigh the good and bad almost endlessly. HELP it's hard for them to give a compliment without adding something 😂BOY. They try to make everyone happy. They tend to need other people to make a decision....but when they give input this mf will probably choose the other option💆🏼‍♀️

Venus

Theo- taurus- I want to give this boy a hugggg😭

So they need to be comfy. They need dependability in their relationships. Can be possessive in love. They're very touchy in their affection. They do hate change but they are incredibly dependable. To win them over you need to show your loyalty and show how much they mean to you. They can take a while to warm up but that's just because they're a slow/ cautious earth sign. Dont push them, but get comfy with them, do cozy things together. " Harmony and peace are important factors in the art and music they are attracted to." They really said harmony💖

Keeho- virgo, earth. Not flirty👀👀 pffft ok. Tries to win someone over with devotion and showing them a ton of attention. Cautious, slowly makes his way into their heart. Sensitive and insecure in love😭 They need to know feelings are mutual before they make a move..... Can childishly tease their crush💆🏼‍♀️ But they have good intentions. They arent attracted to show offs, they like understated, unnoticed people. These people love quietly helping and doing the little things. You'll win them over if you recognize their efforts, they just want to be appreciated.

Mars

Theo- sagittarius, fire.

When they feel attacked or threatened they have the need to run and just go do something else. Then they come back. It's really go for these people to be physically active, they need a healthy outlet. Can be pretty scattered, they just do what they want to in that moment which can mean leaving a ton of projects unfinished. Optimistic, fun loving. Love a good debate, but with his gem mercury I highly doubt it would get as heated as with a less flexible sign (like me). Passionate, open-minded, but can be blunt. Lol they can be confusing because they go from fun loving to intense. They need space and freedom, probably not a ton cuz he is a cancer, but like freedom to express himself. They have grand and idealistic ideas.

Skip S*x mentions: ok so doesnt have a lot of patience for anything too complex. Loves to have fun and laugh. Lowkey selfish. Can be very direct but almost innocently? Not a fan of people playing hard to get. They dont care for anything to serious in the bedroom (idk this might not be so true with his other placements, but the emotions probably come right after.

Keeho- cap, earth: this boy is v interesting.

Lowkey energy LOL. Very determined. Very goal oriented and focused. They like to be on top of everything. They have a lot of self control. They like to be in control. Really reliable, great leader.

*Straightforward and simple. Will want to keep it v private. They like when they're with someone who's experienced and powerful.

Ok but keeho would love theos mercury because hes unlikely to have extreme opinions and they're both very adaptable, I can imagine them getting into any serious arguments at all. I know keeho would annoy me so much but theo is probably totally fine. K- want to go to A ot B for dinner? T- B, K- ok but what if we go to A. T- ya that's fine. Like wow🤝

Earth venuses😭😭😭😭 they're actually perfect dont touch me. Needs dependability/ wins you over with dependability. Perfection. They both play the long game, slow burn. Keeho literally is attracted to wall flowers goodbye. Just say theo is your soulmate and leave. Keeho called theo his love for a reasonnnn also theo fr didnt say anything cuz yes we are each others love.

They both need their own space

Ok so I think theo would really appreciate keeho non-confrontational self because theos pretty sensitive 😭

It's really looking like theo is the type of person to get lost in their emotions and keeho could really help pull him out of that and help him just chill? Have fun?

Ok sooooo their moons are not the bestttt. Cuz scorp is super emotional and deep and aqua is like... detached. Their emotional selves are very different. But also they could be so intrigued by each other, like trying to understand wtf is going on in their heads.

Ok but theo can 100% see passed keehos emotional barriers and like See him. And I feel like keeho might not have ever felt that before and😭😭😭 idk they could be really really close.

Keeho sounds so sweet and perfect for theo. Always making sure hes comfy😭

(They really both said keep it simple in the bedroom. Like damn ok, keep being a perfect match)

RWBY V8 CH12 Initial Thoughts:

Yes yes I'm late watching the new episode don't look at me. Also @tumblezwei thank you thank you for showing me how to put the read more bit on posts, I can finally put it to good use.

Figured I might as well do a reaction/initial thoughts to this episode since I haven't done that in a while, so here goes:

- Man Ironwood is just. Super overcompensating with his Gun-gun.

"You've done the right thing."

"I have. Feels weird"

-I'M SORRY THAT WAS THE BEST LINE OF THE EPISODE HANDS DOWN. Just. The sass. The growth. Kicking Ironwood in the face while cuffed (does she have experience doing that? Fighting while arrested? It kinda looked similar to Mercury's fighting style too.) EMERALD I LOVE YOU.

- Ngl I feel extremely satisfied that we can finally FINALLY put the "Winter is Totally Going To Be A Villain" theory to bed after this episode. Not that I didn't used to see the appeal of it myself, but v8 made it increasingly clear that wasn't where her arc was headed. Also Schneebling reunion on the horizon? Pretty please???

- *Sees Oscar riding on the Chimera summon with Winter*

*Remembers Oscar riding with Yang on the hoverbike in episode 2*

My Snowpines/Rosegarden shipping ass: Gee Oscar, how come you get TWO big sister-in-laws?

- Small thing but it's always nice to see team ALPN fighting together. I know a few Oscar fans were freaking out about Penny potentially replacing Oscar as their teammate, but like I thought that wasn't really something to worry about. *gently bonks Oscar fanbase* Sillies.

- I'm a little suprised given how Ironwood is the Big Bad of the Atlas arc how quickly he went down, without much dramatic flair or further esculation, but I am so glad Winter got that last awesome shot on him. (and that Oscar managed to get a few jabs in too) And like. He's still alive in jail. So who the hell knows what we're gonna do with him now. Take him to Vacuo along with Jaques apparently. I'm sure that'll go greeeeaaat.

- Ambrosius... after a quick google search the name apparently means "Divine" or "Immortal" in Greek. Hm. Unlike Jinn, not a specific reference to a mythical being, at least not in name, but I'm sure people are already theorizing on that front better than I could. Similar blue/gold design too. So maybe they're all Djinns in a sense, since they grant your desires, but split into four focusing on a specific kind of desire? That works. Anyways, super fun character and I hope they make more use of him. Like, because I wanna see more of his personality and also Oh my Gosh the Things You Can Do With His Powers are Basically Limitless as long as you're smart about it (hint hint get the CCT active around Remnant but Better)

- And gosh were our girls smart. Weiss working with Whitley to get the schematics and coordinates for the exact points of evacuation that they had originally planned out for their ships to create portals to the Vault/Central Zone (?) to Vacuo, Ruby puting in careful thought and wording about creating a copy of Penny with the existing robot parts from her to let the girl who was always there underneath remain and leaving the copy with the virus to self destruct, with Penny's designs for reference, they absolutely did their homework. Of course there was the risk of if Penny could exist without that physical form, but of course they all believed in her.

- Self destructing Not!Penny crawling towards the real Penny is super creepy and hopefully something she doesn't have nightmares about

- Of course the first thing Penny does when she realises she's a Real Girl is hug everyone so she can experience the joy of Real Normal Warm Hugs.

"Are hugs always this warm?"

"Yes, Penny"

"Woooow"

-MY HEART. No actually back up, back up, the Nuts and Dolts shipper in me is singing rn, because all the times Penny has been hugged by Ruby this volume and only now is she actually able to actually feel that hug. Like, the sentiment and emotional support of it was always there and obviously appreciated by her before, but like. Now she can FEEL it.

- I'm super happy for Penny and seeing her back to her cheerful adorable self is Delightful, but at the same time I'm now really worried for her too. She doesn't have to worry about the virus anymore, now she's a regular meat person, but here's the thing. She's a regular meat person. No more rocket boots. No more lasers. No more in built swords attached to her body with strings. No more resistance to harsher elements. No more night vision. Obviously she's still the Winter Maiden, so she's still a force to be reckoned with, and she has RWBY with her, but she's still a rookie maiden that is massively vulnerable right now. She's vulnerable in her new human form to anyone coming after her. And like. Things just feel like they're going too smoothly...

- Speaking of, hello hello my ominous darling Cinder. Just like last volume, when things seem to be going too smoothly, there you are. So Watts cut off Jaune's broadcast and all other communications in the kingdom, and I'm guessing Cinder's jumping in those portal spaces with Neo to come after Ruby and Penny? That along with the "Do Not Fall" warning seems... yeah something's gonna go terribly wrong by the end of this volume. Salem, Ironwood, Mantle, Penny... All these loose ends are just being dealt with so quickly and neatly for me to be fully comfortable.

- tfw you've read Before the Dawn and know that Vacuo was already struggling with refugees coming in since Atlas had closed its borders, Vale was overrun with Grimm, and Mistral had its defences spread thin already being the widest reaching kingdom, along with Leo, Hazel and Tyrian denting it even further in offing all the huntsman and huntresses, and Vacuo's people are already pretty stingy with outsiders, and if there are thousands coming from the kingdom that closed it's borders and ordered an dust embargo... oh boi the Vacuo arc is gonna be a doozy.

- I know it's probably too close to Atlas and therefore Salem, and we need a convenient way to segue into the Vacuo arc, but couldn't Argus have been an option for the portal evacuation? At least, as well as Vacuo?

- OH FUCK YEAH I FORGOT THEY MENTIONED THE WRITERS SAID V9 WAS GONNA BE A DETOUR AND WASN'T JUST GOING TO BE JUMPING STRAIGHT TO VACUO. So like. Are they gonna get lost in a void of time and space? Are they going to jump through time by accident? Or just in space? Both? If you fall do you just end up randomly in the middle of the desert, far from Vacuo? And v9 is just going to be RWBY trekking through the desert? Similar to v6 after the train crash? So many questions.

-Hmm. Torn between Cinder going after Penny/Ruby with Neo in the vault space, or potentially being confronted by ALPN+Emerald... JNR+Emerald seems more narratively fitting, but Neo seems deadset on her and Cinder killing to Ruby...

- I wonder if Qrow is gonna confront Ironwood while he's in jail... Role reversal of the start of the volume. Or maybe he's just going to consider it worth his time.

-Taking all the established Atlas characters right with us into the Vacuo arc seems like it's going to be... A Lot. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if team RWBY really did end up jumping in time in V9 to fast forward on the two city populations integrating with one another, like maybe by a few months? Idk I'm just spitballing. Initial thoughts and all.

- Last point but the hooded cowl is such a great look on Cinder. Love it.
