Ahem-Anon reporting for duty 🫡
I have come with a mighty need. The need is called: dragon miguel and mermaid reader. I mean hmmmggh? So cute? he a firey dragon, she a pretty lil mermaid? He totes call her his sirenita. Total opposites and kinda a forbidden love? A romeo and juliet thing, minius the tragic death ending. And they always secretly meet in a cave (miguel build it so his sirenita can swim there) they decorated it together and it’s just the best of both, their own little world and happy place. And i can’t help but wonder how do they do the 👀👀👀👀 and omg what if he gets her pregnant and all? Like he was away for a few months to defend his territory and she surprises him with her baby bum and its all dragon nest building and him being protective as f. Also scared because damn? This is a first since the beginning of time. Baby Gabi would totes be the first waterdragon 😂
Can I have your imagination borrowed for a second? Please? HOLY fuck. When I read dragon Miguel only reminded me of that beautiful fan art of him as a dragon I saw on Pinterest ♥️♥️. A bit long if you squint.
Crimson. His hands were covered in little crimson stains that oozed from his side. He was... injured.
Impossible.
A dragon? Like him? The King of Dragons. Foolish. But as much as he wanted to shake the measly pain that pulsated every time he moved forward, to the rocky cannon on the forgotten beach, it remained there, etched and oozing.
The cannons were used as his lair, his home. He collapsed on what seemed to be his bed, a l shaped stone that was a few meters away from a small entrance from the sea. Like a secret entrance.
The splashing as he collapsed alarmed him, red eyes shone in anger as a low growl echoed through. And then, his eyes settled on you. Burning eyes softened in curiosity as he saw dainty fingers peeking behind a stone, your eyes settled on him, watching his every move.
Was he hallucinating? No.
He certainly wasn't because the creature stared at him, more specifically to his wound. You went back on the water, long fish-like tail, shining softly, like if the rainbows had decided to adhere in your scales.
A mermaid?
He believed them extinct. Humans had surely haunted everything they could lay their wretched hands on.
A few moments later, the splashing returned, this time you weren't hiding behind the rock. You were before him, naked torso, wet hair stuck on your back. Hands holding what it seemed to be a moss-like plant within a shell. You offered. He frowned.
Why would he trust her? for all he knew Mermaids were also wretched creatures that lured men to death. But your frown matched his, like you had you just read his thoughts.
"Your blood will only attract other creatures that won't be as kind as I am" You mumbled. His eyes widened slightly. Of course you could speak. His blood dripped on the water and you scrunched your nose, pushing the shell further near him.
"You're welcome" you giggled and went back from where you came.
--------
Ever since that encounter, Miguel would certainly find subtle ways to lure you back to him. He surely wasn't inmune to mermaid beauty, his trust issues however made always to look past your looks, he wanted to find out what your intentions were, why you were always willing to just stare at him, expecting to something to happen, why would you always come back.
"Im just curious as to why I have been forbidden to mingle with the creatures above. You aren't that bad."
You'd smile sweetly at him to look back at the water.
"I gotta go. Will I see you again?"
He'd just nod and you disappeared.
His injury had been long healed. A couple of hours after you had offered the moss actually.
--------
He'd see you again and again, almost every day, a weird sort of fear settled in his chest whenever you didn't show up for more than three days. You had created this sort of routine where you would just show up, staring at eachother until one of you, (you mostly of the time) asked for questions.
What was up there on land? Was there a lot of humans? Who was he? Why was he hiding? Patiently he'd explain through short answers just to see the glint in your eyes at every word that came from his mouth.
Three days had passed, no sign from you, until you'd appear again, cuts and wounds covering your body, sweet scented blood oozed from your cuts, too tired to remain conscious.
Humans. They had tried to hunt you.
He'd pick you up and put you to safety, your torso resting in the sand. A few droplets of his blood wetted your lips. You'd be fine when he'd return. He turned on his back, rage boiling as the beast within him roared to be set free. He flew away with a new target on sight. The docks.
----
You were his adoration. Despite the world trying to hurt you, you remained kind, ever sweet and curious. You were his Sirenita.
He'd burn entire ships for you. The world itself if you asked him nicely enough. Dragon's nature prevented him to share with others. Not that he wanted to share you with anyone else anyway. It was only you and him.
The first kiss held so much passion, sweetness and longing. You couldn't lay in his lap without feeling dizzy by the lack of water after a few minutes. A trouble that seemed a big impediment to completely have you for himself.
He disappeared with the promise of coming back.
Was he?
You didn't know but hope set in your heart. He had never broken a promise so far.
----
Upon his return he gave you a small potion jar, you drank it after he explained what would it do. Bit by bit fins and scales were shedded from you, melding into humanoid like features, only to finally reveal supple and unmarred human legs and feet.
You were now also part human. He kissed you, cradling your wobbly body on his strong arms.
----
You mated almost every night, the once hidden cannon on the beach, forgotten, as he had taken you to his real home. Hidden away in the mountains, but close enough to the sea to sate your need of swimming and dive. You could shape-shift at will. But preferred to be with him, nesting in his arms.
-----
You'd notice your belly expanding and getting rounder by each month. He had noticed too. The urge to devour and crush anyone who trespassed in his home had only turned stronger, making his dragon form to become more vicious to the outside, yet careful to not being discovered.
Miguel would feed you, take care of you until a baby was born. It was a girl.
He was The Dragon King. And now a father.
A clueless one if you might add.
He'd flinch when tiny baby arms would flail to take a hold of him. He'd growl whenever said baby wailed at night, interrupting his rough mating with you. Strangely enough, his daughter only quieted down when he held her or you nursed her.
----
He'd marvel with pride as his daughter swum through the waters, faster than a ship could ever do. But of course the three would remain hidden from the world. Away from prying and wretched hands that could hurt you.
You both were his treasure. The things he held dear the most.

a/n ↠ part 4/5 of the legend has it series!
don't like it, don't read.
you couldn’t believe your eyes.
there was a stunning girl in front of you with a beauty unmatched by any other woman in the country. she was completely naked, hardly spoke, and her wrists were sore for the restraints tight around her only moments ago.
until you stepped in and fought every sailor on the ship she’d been brought onto, defending her from the grabby hands of every man aboard. chaewon could only watch in horror, wondering if she was next. when you came up to her after the bloodshed, she tried to writhe out of the taut knots behind her back, not understanding that you had only come to defend her.
the more you marveled her, the more you wondered how a naked girl seemed to be birthed directly out of the sea, you came to only one logical conclusion. she was not human. rather, she was not supposed to be.
it didn’t account for the supple pair of legs that she had, but it did account for her inability to use them. it was not safe for a woman around the territory where drunk men sailed for months without contact from the opposite sex. that was why you took chaewon, which she later told you was her name, all the way back to your cabin.
though on the way there and when she arrived, chaewon acted very unfamiliar with her surroundings, as if she had never seen ordinary things like trees and hairdryers before. she couldn’t walk, falling to her knees with every effort. and though you had never believed in the supernatural, unless this girl lived under a rock her whole life, then she had to have come from underwater.
“you’re not from here,” you’d confronted within a couple hours of having her inside your room.
chaewon’s eyes flickered with terror. she had heard horror stories of what happened to mermaids when they got too close to humans.  how merciless humankind could be.  she was to stay clear of it, though she had gotten close to the surface. among other things. “that’s not true.”
you scoffed, “baby, please. it’s not hard to tell. you’re like a fish out of water.”
chaewon swallowed to damp her throat. she guessed it was an apt comparison, all things considered. never had she not been very interested in the upper world. it was so foreign and she ached to explore it and all of its dangers.
when she said nothing, you knew you were right on the money, and continued, “i don’t know how you’re here nor do i care to. but your lack of familiarity with the human world is concerning and if you want, i can teach you how to act like one of us. the second people know you’re not like the rest of us, there’s no telling what’ll happen to you.”
chaewon whispered, “you’re gonna teach me… how to be human?”
“i’m going to try,” you clarified. “at the very least, it’s important that you know how to run and care for yourself.”
that was what you said, but little did chaewon know, you had much darker intentions in mind. the second you saw her exposed body, tangled in knots, you knew that you had to have her. and you knew that nobody else could.
still, you did teach her the basics of being a human. how to cook simple things and the like. you allowed her to step outdoors, though only under your supervision. given her curious nature, you wouldn’t be surprised if she attempted to run away, just to explore the unfamiliarities of the world around her.
everything little thing astonished her. you had never seen anyone with such glimmering stars in their eyes. nature was chaewon’s favorite. she loved holding little snails in her hands and gawking at the wildflowers near your cabin, but never dared to pick them. she likened them to vibrant coral reefs. it was astounding how life on earth could be so similar yet so different to life underwater.
things stayed that way for a while, but your urges quickly took precedence. given how frequently you were around chaewon, it was difficult to suppress them. because you only had one bedroom, you offered to let her share your bed.
the most difficult thing you had ever done was keep yourself composed while you slept not even a total of inches away from each other. when you went to bed, you were at least a couple of inches apart, though when you roused, she was cuddling you. you couldn’t stand being so close to her and not doing a damn thing about it.
that was where the lies began.
after plenty careful shopping, you presented chaewon with a number of brassieres for her to sport around the house. only, she was under the impression that they were innocent tops, much like the ones she wore back home in the ocean.
maybe they weren’t exactly the same. the tops were a bit more revealing than the ones that she used to wear, but chaewon accepted that she was not home and was more than happy to embrace human tradition.
and then it was time for you to strike.
“chaewon,” you called out, popping your head into your bedroom. chaewon was sitting on your bed with an earbud in, listening to music you’d shown her. “i bought you some more clothes.”
chaewon’s eyes twinkled. “really?” so, so naive, you couldn’t help but think.
she didn’t question the alarming amount of so-called new clothes that you bought her, only constantly expressing her gratitude. she could never wait to try them on, much to your amusement. and maybe your delight. there was a reason why you bought so many.
you didn’t say anything, just smiling while you outstretched your hand, the bag dangling from your fingers. chaewon instantly lost interest in the music she’d been listening to, which she’d said before reminded her of sea nymphs, and leapt up to accept the bag with the politest thanks you’d ever heard.
chaewon didn’t think twice about whether or not it was normal to change in front of you, removing the underwear set she was currently wearing to don the new one you bought her. just the sight of her naked, even if only for a couple of moments, made an ache develop between your thighs.
this set was an innocent white color with flimsy, see-through fabric. chaewon stepped in front of your mirror, eyes brimming with wonder. “it’s so cute - i love it! thank you!”
“anything for you,” you said quietly, your eyes fallen to the hind view that you had of her ass.
noticing something, chaewon’s face quickly soured. “but there’s a cut,” she said, referring to a slit in her underwear. “i think it’s ruined.”
playing dumb, you asked, “can i see?”
chaewon nodded, crawling onto your bed and spreading her legs so that you could see the cut in her underwear that had her so saddened. you crept over, separating her thighs a little more to examine the slit that gave you perfect access to her holes without the need to slip them to the side.
your mouth was watering at the sight of her pretty pink pussy. if you were being frank, you thought you deserved a round of applause for being able to wait it out this long. your patience was never good when it came to things like this.
as if your fingers had a mind of their own, one of them moved to brush against her cunt, and you swore you heard the slightest tremble in chaewon’s breath. you knew, as it were, that she was indebted to you. chaewon had only you to thank for the sense of security she felt, no matter how false, and you wholeheartedly intended to keep it that way. though you also knew that, if kept naive enough, chaewon would happily do as you asked.
chaewon shifted uncomfortably. “is it ruined?”
“no, it’s not. it was designed like that,” you said matter-of-factly, rising from the position. sometimes the best lie was the truth.
chaewon was evidently confused. you adored that she processed outwardly, all her features cutely tensed. “why?”
“because it’s a special outfit,” you replied. “it makes it easier for fun activities humans like to do.”
naturally, chaewon had ample interest in the human world and their ways of life, and she desperately wanted to be a part of them. “can we do it?” she asked.
you chuckled, resisting. though only because you knew she wouldn’t back down. “you don’t even know what it is.”
“well, yeah, but…,” chaewon trailed, sitting up now. “i’m really curious.”
you sat down beside her, planting a palm on her exposed thigh and leisurely beginning to move it in a pattern. “have you ever heard that curiosity killed the cat?”
“no, it’s always been curiosity killed the otter.”
you snickered. “and did satisfaction bring it back?”
“something like that, yeah,” chaewon chirped.
if chaewon noticed how much closer your hand got to her hardly clothed pussy, she said nothing. “i could show you so much satisfaction, chaewon,” you purred, leaning into her ear, in spite of the fact that it was only you and her there to bare witness to whatever unfolded there in your room. “but only if you want to.”
“i want to,” chaewon replied without a second thought.
you pulled back, eyes flitting up her face. “you sure?”
chaewon bobbed her head excitedly. she had no idea what you had in store for her and yet she was so enthusiastic.
“lie back down.”
chaewon did as told, eager.
you were back between her slender legs again, separating them, and thumbed the little slit in her underwear. “you wanna know what this is for?”
“badly,” was chaewon’s response.
you doubted there were even words to describe just how mad she drove you. without a second thought, you dove your head between her plush set of thighs, your self-restraint snapping. you clamped your fingers onto her thighs for now, only lapping at her as if you had something to prove.
little noises were already escaping her parted lips and they were the sweetest sounds that you’d ever heard. they were accompanied by little breaths, tiny moments of her quickening heartbeat before it was as if her pulse died, then came back to life.
and it stayed like that, until it didn’t. until her breaths started to come quicker and quicker, and her soft moans increased not only in frequency, but in pitch. it wasn’t difficult to be enamored with her. the second you discovered that such saccharine noises could be ripped from the very back of her throat, you knew that you would do everything in your power to keep her isolated from the rest of your world. she was not for sale and she was yours.
“woah,” chaewon exhaled, chest heaving like a raging ocean. “that feels really good.”
you hummed, though you didn’t part to speak, because you didn’t plan on moving until you were certain that she had orgasmed. desperately did you need her to cum on your tongue. and your fingers. you inserted a pair inside her cunt, her gushy walls accepting.
the stimulation from both your warm mouth and adroit fingers made chaewon’s entire body start to shudder, an involuntary reaction that she couldn’t begin to control. this was pleasure and she had never before felt anything like it. especially not when you were tonguing her clit like it was nothing, sending floods of warmth and sensitivity to wreck through her core.
chaewon could barely speak as it was, every thought evaporating from her brain, though that only proved how ravaging this feeling was. it was destruction in its natural form, in its truest nature, and it was raw.
“oh my gosh,” chaewon whimpered, the cutest little look on her face.
there was a large part of you that just wanted to make her feel like this forever and ever, and you needed to know how much she could take. as much as she was yours (even if she didn’t know it yet), she was delicate, and though you wanted to protect her, you couldn’t shake the part of you that longed to break her.
only you could be trusted with the most intimate workings of her physical form. those sailors might’ve been motivated by the same interests as you, the same pent-up desires, but none of them would care for chaewon the way you had.
maybe it was naive of you, for a change, to think that you could keep a spirit as longing as chaewon’s kept away and suppressed, but if push came to shove, there were many things that you were more than willing to do if it meant it would keep her closer to you for another day. she would just have to understand that this world wasn’t made for her. and there was no way you could be certain she’d be safe out there.
i’m going to make her depend on me, you thought, resolved. i’m going to make her need me. she’ll forget about the rest of the world. she’ll forget about home.
that you were certain of.
“fuck,” chaewon whimpered, followed by an itching cry of your name. it did something to you, make something fracture from within.
there was something about the sound of your name on her tongue that made you lose was what left of your goddamn mind. noting that she was (obviously) close, you were more vicious in your endeavors, drinking all of her arousal like you were parched.
in a way, it wasn’t far from the truth. it had been a long time since you’d found someone to satisfy your cravings and yet you’d forgotten everybody that came before chaewon. with your mouth on her pussy, and your name on her lips, she was all that you could will yourself to think about.
chaewon only thought about you too, because you were the first to show her ecstasy of this caliber and it felt ungodly. she could make little sense of what was happening to her body - the involuntary movements and the want flaring through her core in large numbers. and second after second, it somehow only intensified.
there was a sensation sitting heavy on the pit of her stomach that she couldn’t describe. it wasn’t crushing, though chaewon knew that it could consume her not if she let it, but if it so pleased. she wasn’t chanting your name, but it was like her whines went through one of your ears and the other. you were completely gone, drunk off a hint of her.
calling out your name again, louder, chaewon followed, “i think something’s...”
the last of her sentence was cut off by a final, sharp cry of ache, heavy on her gut and weighing on her chest. your thumb was on her clit, continuing to stimulate her as she got off, wiggling her hips forward into your mouth and writhing uncontrollably.
you took great delight in watching her fall apart at the seams, because there was something about it happening at your hand. chaewon was at your mercy and you preferred it like that, because that way, she had nobody else to run to. it was your name she cried while she battled pleasure for authority over her body and ultimately surrendered every bit of it.
you didn’t stop until chaewon’s body slumped and gave in to exhaustion. rising from your knees, you came to sit beside her weak figure, observing from a different angle. “so, was it fun?”
“yeah,” chaewon exhaled shakily. “can i do that to you?”
something about the thought of chaewon’s pretty little face between your legs made you giggle, though you weren’t opposed. “another time,” you replied. “i have something else you can do.”
as if she weren’t utterly spent, chaewon’s eyes sparkled with eagerness. “like what?”
minutes later, you had a strap-on secured around your hips, and it was your turn to lie back on the mattress. chaewon had jumped to undress you the second that the words escaped your mouth, obedient and eager to please as she was, and you wallowed in every second. now, she was more than excited to ride your strap.
though she looked amazing in it, you removed the bra from her chest no sooner had she stripped you bare. you wanted to squeeze her pretty breasts in your palms while she rode the soul out of you.
chaewon glanced to you, looking at you with so much wonder, and asked, “how far do i go?”
“whatever’s comfortable, baby,” you said nonchalantly, in spite of the fact that you were counting down the seconds until she’d be bouncing.
in the next minute, chaewon was lowering herself onto you through the little slit in her underwear, careful and steady. because of the sheer size, you were surprised to see her sink completely down, though also dumbfoundedly proud.
your eyes darted to her face. every emotion was etched across. “too much?”
not anymore than she asked for. “no,” chaewon replied, shaking her head. “i can take it. i promise.”
it didn’t take a genius to understand that chaewon was resolved to impress you, no matter how taxing it was or how much it took out of her, and you were honored to realize that she had such a high opinion of you. obviously, she didn’t know the extent of how dangerous you could be, in spite of the fact she witnessed the bloodshed you’d caused in her defense, though you hoped that she wouldn’t need to.
chaewon started slow and you didn’t blame her, just trying to get accustomed to the unmistakable girth, and those pretty little sighs began to simmer into your ears again. you would never be able to get enough of them. matter of fact, you were certain they would start to replay in your head at one point.
chaewon rasped, “it’s really big.”
“do you need to go back up?”
“no!” chaewon vehemently insisted. “i can do this.”
“i’m sure you can, angel,” you purred, tightening your hold at her perfect hips.
though you’d been tempted, you didn’t try to guide her along, sensing that she would definitely refuse all help and insist that she was perfectly capable of riding you on her own. so your hands just stayed still and flat, allowing her to do as she pleased.
all the while, you were enjoying the view from below, watching her take you like a queen upon her throne. her breasts dangled tantalizingly in front of your face, almost as if they were begging to be sucked. you were of a mind to test yourself, gauging how much you could handle before your greed consumed you in your entirety.
to say the least, you knew that it couldn’t have been a lot.
it was bewitching how she managed to swallow your strap whole. though you were aware that she could barely take it as it was, you fully intended to buy larger toys to use on her. with some size training, you knew she would be taking it all like a champ in no time. she had the resolve and tenacity.
and more importantly, she had you. for whatever reason, whenever you were in the picture, her happiness skyrocketed. maybe it was because you essentially saved her life or took her in and taught her the ways of human life, but whatever it was, chaewon had her affections alloted to you.
“you’re so pretty,” you whispered with a two-minute delay. you were too absorbed in your thoughts to relay them just as quickly as they appeared in your brain.
chaewon started to beam, smile stretching from one ear to the other. hearing your praise made her whole face flush, little whines slipping from her pink lips. and though you couldn’t feel it, much to your chagrin, she couldn’t help but grip around you.
lifting one hand from her hip, you started to fondle her supple breasts, kneading them with your hands. chaewon’s eyes fluttered close as her pace quickened and she settled on a fitting rhythm, riding effortlessly now that she’d adjusted to your size. one of these days, you wanted to rail her into oblivion, but it would wait. you were more than content to watch her bounce on top of you.
chaewon, to say the least, was enthralled. not only in the wonders that were your lifestyle as a human being, but the forbidden pleasures she’d been deprived of as a mermaid. there was something about how this big whatchamacallit felt, brushing against her walls and strumming her to climax all over again.
you satiated her curiosity. some of it, at least. but what mattered in the moment was that she was satisfied, just as you swore she would be, and in ways she couldn’t fathom. from the throbbing in her core to the wriggle in her toes and the heat spasming in her palms, all of it was unthinkable.
fuck. oh my goodness. fuck, was all that floated around chaewon’s head, because if she wasn’t saying it (her mouth was far too occupied with those sweet-sounding cries to speak), she was definitely thinking it.
chaewon was far too dazed to even notice, but you, for one, were addicted to the wet sound that came with every meet of her hips with your strap. you were showing her what it meant to be aroused. and someday, if she somehow did escape you, even though you couldn’t imagine letting yourself permit that to happen, you would make sure she knew that nobody could ever bring her euphoria quite like you.
there was sweat gathering at chaewon’s face, an indication of how long and how hard the two of you had been at this, but all you really gave a damn about was how it made her skin glisten. how beautiful it looked when coupled with the sunlight filtering through your open window. you weren’t concerned with being spied on, because with how deep in the middle of nowhere you lived, you rarely had visitors and certainly no neighbors.
“it’s happening again,” chaewon noticed, referring to the sensation in her gut.
“that’s normal,” you said, assuring.
chaewon’s movements only got more vigorous, as if she couldn’t wait to get herself there, and you knew that it wasn’t far from the truth. “i’m so…,” she trailed, breaths coming quicker.
“you’re close,” you finished for her, grinning. “cum for me, baby. show me you can do it again.”
you knew that she could. god, she came so hard when you were going down on her. you yourself could’ve came untouched just from watching her get off.
“so close,” chaewon squeaked, rocking herself against you harder. and much, much faster. she was so impatient. “please.”
you were coaxing her there, whispering, “milk my strap, baby. come on. do it for me.”
for whatever reason, everything felt so much more intense in that moment compared to every second preceding. the room seemed a thousand degrees hotter, which the sweat down chaewon’s back was a testament to, but half the heat was coming from inside.
then the girl on top of you arched into you and it was game over, her stilling as the chase came to an abrupt halt. release was instantaneous. chaewon could feel it everywhere and it was mind-numbing and explosive. she wrung her toes, anchoring herself on your bare shoulders as raw pleasure shot through her chest and spine.
and you watched every second. you were obsessed. all you could think, eyes fixed to her orgasming form, was, she’s so goddamn gorgeous.
when the unsparing afterhighs faded, chaewon slumped against you, weakened by her continuous actions and the energy put into the hunt for climax. though you desperately wanted to push her, you would save it for another day. she was panting hard and heavy against your chest, so worn.
chaewon’s misty eyes flitted to yours, whispering, “did i do good?”
“you did perfect, angel,” you crooned, kissing her forehead. chaewon giggled, dismounting you and snuggling closer to you. “absolutely perfect.”
it was comfortable silent (other than the combined sound of your open-mouthed breathing) for maybe five minutes. you wallowed in the weight of chaewon’s body on your chest and her breath on your neck, a reminder that she was there.
what you didn’t speak was for her to ask, “can we go again?”
your eyes flickered in shock. god, this girl just doesn’t know when to quit, you thought amusedly.

since y'all seemed to want this.... here's the live notes i took while listening to each song for the first time (bold are thoughts i had during later listens)
fortnight:
‘i was a functioning alcohol till nobody noticed my new aesthetic’ what the fuck does that even mean…
love the fact she gave post the female collab treatment. don’t wanna hear what he has to say.
they’re voices sound actually good together?
some pockets of the melody are catchy
okay i don’t hate this
ttpd:
her red flags are on fire in this song lol
this seems very half-cooked
also jacks weird mixing continues to plague us all
CHARLIE PUTH???? WHAT THE FUCK WHY HE HERE
tattooed golden retriever??? ……no way
my boy breaks all his favorite toys:
i blinked and it’s half over
this also is like… half cooked and didn’t need to be released tbh
i love the way she sings the second verse tho
down and:
the production does not match the vibe
did tpain produce this
i’m… kinda bored lol
like i have nothing to say this also didn’t need to be released tbh
this grew on me a lot actually
so long london
the production is so futuristic?
oh im obsessed with how she sounds on this one
her talk-singing in the verses is great
honest lyrics without any clunky unnecessary metaphors! a win!!
the fast-paced verses with th slow chorus is really really cool
a favorite so far
daddy i love him
i can barely hear her? the bad mixing continues
‘growing up precociously sometimes means not growing up at all’ oh yeah WE KNOW
is this…… is this about her dating matty and loving how people hate him… no fucking way she’s this stupid
SHE IS BEING THIS STUPID
‘it’s white noise’ yeah yeah that’s exactly how id describe him
.... anyway y'all remember when fans really believed the little mermaid theory and this song was supposed to be about how 'joe stole her voice' lmaooo
we will pretend this one doesn't exist!
fresh out the slammer
are we getting another ‘i didn’t cheat technically’ song lol
what is this weird tempo change….
okay kinda catchy
it’s sounds exactly like you are in love at the end….. jack is really out of tricks
florida
‘my friends all smell like weed or little babies’ what the fuck is she even talking about anymore
i’m sorry but i’m laughing at the phrase ‘fuck me up florida’
again the production sounds so detached from the vocals
i honestly still have no idea how i feel about this one
guilt as sin
an real instrument?? wow crazy
okay she’s kinda cute? catchy and fun, love the melody
i love when she goes up at the end of the vocal
okay…. i don’t mind this one she’s catchy, a little too long and drawn out but cute
who’s afraid of little old me?
what is this production? it’s way too soft to be as threatening as they’re trying for
why did jack push her vocals back so far when she’s supposed to scream…. that’s ruins the whole thing…. she’s supposed to be screaming and threatening….. not quiet and far away…. hello
this song is trying very hard to be threatening but it’s not... vigilante shit 2.0
‘you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum they raised me’…………… upper middle-class pennsylvania?
‘i’m drunk on my own tears isn’t that what they all say, that’ll  sue you if you step on my lawn’ okay bar?
the bridge was good but that’s about it.
i can fix him
…………… not another matty song oh god
‘i can handle a dangerous man’…… im too stunned to speak this is so embarrassing
wow taylor really is that girl who like ‘women supporting women’ and then dates/defends a racist bf…. a walking example of white feminism
intersectional feminism found dead.... twice....
loml
okay this is really nice?
I WAS ACTUALLY ENJOYING THE SONG WHY DID SHE RUIN IT BY SAYING ‘MR STEAL YOUR GIRL’ 💀
if we ignore that one line we're good this is good. im refusing to let that line ruin such a good song
i can do it with a broken heart
‘bitch smile’ why are there so many cringey lyrics on this album lol
what is this song omg why do i kind of like it
taylor please learn depressed isn’t a synonym for sad
they recycled the mastermind production
wait till taylor finds out most of the entire world is sad while they're doing their job and has to pretend they're not
smallest man who ever lived
oh i think i like this?
‘you said normal girls were boring’ GIRL AND YOU DIDNT IMMEDIATELY GET UP AND LEAVE??? EWWWW??? she's not beating the pick-me allegations
'i just wanna know if rusting my sparking summer was the goal' okay love that line
i like this a lot
the alchemy
no….. no way this is real
i cannot
THE SPORTS METAPHORS WE JOKED SHED DO THAT AND SHE ACTUALLY DID IT OH NO
touchdown ✅ teams ✅ benches ✅ winning streak ✅ the league ✅
she’s doing…… the worst thing ever this is so laughable
the corny lyrics are on overload
‘this time it’s heroine with an e’ didn’t she write folklore? i can’t remember
that literally was an snl parody of a taylor song
clara bow
love how the guitar sounds… bet money this is an aaron track
a stevie nicks reference!! a win!!!
i like this one a lot no cringey lyrics yet
nope never mind she name-dropped herself don’t like that
overall really liked it tho
the black dog
i think i like it?? this is kind of what i expected the album to be
okay for once the weird production choices kind of pay off
imgonnagetyouback
kinda catchy?
she loves a fancy car getting wrecked line
the pre-choruses are the best part
this would’ve been better without the jack of it all bc he loves a song that doesnt build to anything
this just comes down to personal preference: i don’t like her lighter vocals with jack’s heavy production (ie most of lover lol)
the albatross
a real instrument!!! production that matches taylor’s voice and is well mixed!!! aaron’s arrived!!
i think it’s solid, has good writing and she sounds great. that's about it.
chloe or sam or…
took me a solid minute to have any semblance of a fuck to know what was going on but okay
okay i love this one
wayyyy more emotive than like… most of the original album
a lot of the 2nd version (or whatever this is lol) are way more emotive, maybe because her voice isnt drenched in reverb so we can actually hear her voice emote better
how did it end
this sounds like an old school adele song?
i love this one too….
her being upset people wanna know what happened but then also feeding it while promoting the album oop
i love the story of this one it's so refreshing
so high school
THE PRODUCTION is so good ugh aaron never fails
the man here is a walking red flag girl and the lyrics are ~not it~ but the production is too pretty to hate it
fuck these lyrics are so bad lol
maybe if i disassociate hard enough i can ignore the lyrics and just listen to the production and vibe
give me a karaoke version of this song and we'd be so back
i hate it here
i mentioned disassociation and she made a whole song about it!!!! this one’s mine!!!!
‘without all the racists’ GIRL HUH
WHAT WAS THE REASON
also... girl don’t act like we don’t know you’re fine with that lololololol
if i had a dime for every time i was liking a song to then have it slapped away because of a bad, out-of-pocket lyric……
thank you aimee
this isn’t grabbing my attention
oh the bridge is interesting
it’s meh
i will never be thanking the people that bullied me thanks tho
i look in peoples windows
what do you mean aaron didn’t produce this??? it’s well-made and has instruments?
i love this one, again a really interesting and unique concept that's very refreshing to hear at this point when a lot of the songs feel repetitive
the prophecy
aaron guitar!!!!
she’s nice i like her
i've really grown to love how she sings this one, the melodies are cool.. however i feel like we've heard the same melody.. like on this exact album... where she upturns at the end of every line...
cassandra
this seems very…. familiar… idk i feel like we’ve covered this (i mean there are 31 songs we’ve already covered everything lol)
this is such an aaron song, that's a classic 'the national' piano
i like her voice in this one tho, sounds good
peter
oh love i love this
now this? THIS feels the most like a taylor swift song
once again she’s at her best with a simple instrument and emotive simple lyrics
the piano reminds me of champagne problems
the bolter
i like this! the chorus is so cute
oh i like that ending line a lot!
she’s cute, a little long and drawn out but cute
robin
i haven’t seen anyone talk about this one
welp…. i literally have no feelings toward this one but sounds pretty!
the manuscript
oh this is soooooooo powerful
i love this concept
her ending the album on another introspective album that sums everything up a la dear reader yep yep!!
if you actually read of this ily 💗

There Are Many Ways To Deal With The Awkward Tension Of Reconnecting With An Old Friend. Beating The Shit Out Of Each Other.. Is A Way
and also there’s mermaids
“Bdubs! Hello, hello, what are you up to today?” Scar laid across his bed, kicking his legs as he watched the trail cams sitting at his desk. There was a lot of shuffling on the other end of the phone, so Scar waited patiently, letting his mind wander. It had been a week since The Incident at the cove, but Mumbo still hadn’t resurfaced. Scar didn’t blame him of course, Mumbo was the flighty type and Scar himself would have been scared shitless if he had been there (and who knew what they were talking about; Scar’s cameras didn’t have sound), but Scar couldn’t keep himself from worrying.
He had driven out there the moment Etho left, of course he had! Grian made some excuse, as if Scar couldn’t tell when he was lying, but it didn’t matter, because Mumbo was back, and Scar didn’t need to be babysat anyway. Unfortunately, Mumbo hadn’t been around, nor had he been there the next day when Scar had made the trek, so instead he settled on watching the trail cams over the course of the next week. Of course, Mumbo hadn’t shown up, not even once. And Scar reviewed all the footage, even from when he was asleep or away from home- it wasn’t a crime to be excited about your friend, alright?
In the meantime though, since he couldn’t just watch his cameras all day, Scar spent most of his free moments terrorizing Etho.
“Scar! You’re on speaker, I’m watering my plants. Might be a little feedback, I’m moving around. As for plans, not much, but this is going to be the next hour of my life, so, there’s that,” Bdubs mused, and there was a lot of feedback. When Bdubs started to fill his watering can in the sink, Scar couldn’t even hear a thing.
“Perfect! I was just wondering, is Etho home?”
Scar guessed Bdubs didn’t hear much of what he said over the water, but Etho’s name was enough of a clue, Bdubs yelling across the apartment to where his roommate was probably lounging on the couch. “Etho? What do you want me to tell Scar?”
Bdubs shut the water off, and Scar heard the tail end of a groan. “That I’m not here. Bdubs, I told you that is always the answer, you do not have to ask me every time.” There was a bit more grumbling, but Scar couldn’t make it out.
“You might’ve changed your mind. I don’t know,” Bdubs continued, undeterred, “And I got two new plants I wanted to show him, I need help with names.”
“Why would you ask Scar of all people- his names are awful.”
“Hey!” Scar yelled to be heard, but he was deftly ignored.
“I like Scar’s names. They’re dumb, but always kind of sweet, y’know? And when I look at them and remember, it makes me smile.”
Scar preened, cutting in before Etho got another word in, “Why thank you! Yes Bdubs, I would love to come over and look at your plants. Can I invite Grian?”
The surprised silence was a little bit painful, but didn’t last long, “Grian? Sure, I don’t see why not! You guys talking again?”
“Ah- kind of. We’ve been stuck a little bit at the ‘sending cat videos over Instagram’ stage of things for about a month, but we’ve seen each other one or two times since then. Last week actually, we hung out for like an hour. It was nice.”
“Oh no.” A distant Etho said, and after a bit of feedback, Scar heard Bdubs respond sharply,
“Oh no, what?”
Scar cringed a bit, but Etho didn’t seem bothered, an accusatory edge to his voice, “I bet Scar tried bonding with his estranged friend by telling him about all his conspiracies! Just a week ago, that’s when this mermaid business started. Neither of us have even met Grian!”
“Scar wouldn’t do that.” Bdubs defended astutely, Scar following up with his own placating Noooooooo! to which Bdubs turned on him immediately. “Scar! You did not start sharing your Etho conspiracies with Grian, did you?”
“I would never! I would never, Bdubs, you think so little of me!”
“I am uninviting Grian. I can not deal with two idiots interrogating me about random bullshit. Mermaids, spies, aliens- offensive, by the way, Scar, nor was I grown in a tube.”
“I didn’t say you were an alien, just abducted at a young age! Also, that’s what a tube-grown clone would say, just you wait until I find your doppelgänger. I have a feeling you don’t remember, implanted memories and such, but once I get enough evidence you’ll see. Also you can’t uninvite Grian because I didn’t call you. I called Bdubs. And Bdubs invited him.”
“Bdubs! Uninvite Grian.”
“Oh..” Bdubs said, “But I’ve heard so much about him, I really would love to meet him! And you know I’d just love to show off the apartment, it’s been ages since anyone has come over, and so much has changed! Actually, I haven’t even seen most of my friends in like a month. You know, we need to do more group hangouts. I’m going to plan something. I’m going to do it right now.” Again, Bdubs turned on the sink to fill the watering can, and Scar missed 90% of what he was saying, though he did catch an exaggerated groan from Etho.
“Great! I’ll be right over! Unless you wanted to pick me up?”
Bdubs shut the sink water off. “I don’t. It’s a two minute drive, you’ll be fine.”
“See you in ten, then! It’s a lovely day for a walk.”
Bdubs scoffed, and Scar could hear the eye roll over the phone, “Enjoy, then.” Scar smiled, hanging up without another word, and gathering his things for the walk over, only glancing a normal amount of times at his monitor before slipping out the door. He lifted his phone to call Grian, but lost his nerve and texted him instead. They’d talked about this last night, so it wasn’t a surprise or anything; Grian had said that Scar clearly wasn’t any good at needling any information out of Etho, impatient as he always was, but Scar didn’t think Grian would have the tact for this kind of thing. Grian disagreed, and the arrangement was made.
Grian was utterly taken with the idea of a translator, a sentiment Scar didn’t entirely share. It would be nice, yes, and Scar would really love to know the things Mumbo had to say, but he was not optimistic about Etho agreeing to do something like that- he wasn’t even sure Etho knew the language at all. Despite him and Mumbo seeming to get along, that could have just been solidarity between the species, and even though Etho did just randomly show up as a human out of nowhere one day, Scar wasn’t entirely sure if the time before that was spent solely as a mermaid. There could be more than one mermaid language! He and Grian didn’t know anything at all, really.
And if all of these things lined up perfectly (which Grian seemed to think they would), getting Etho to do anything was still a fucking chore. Etho was a man of habit. Once he decided he liked something a certain way, he never wanted to change, and a lot of these little habits could be massive deals like: leaving the house! Most days, Etho did not leave the house, doing freelance work that facilitated that lifestyle (game testing/design/other programming work- Scar didn’t quite remember). When he did leave the house however, he only wanted to do so with Bdubs, holding Bdubs’ hand (his emotional support Bdubs; Etho’s words, not Scar’s), literally going nowhere without being within a few feet of Bdubs, as if the ground might open up and swallow him whole if his roommate strayed out of sight.
And it wasn’t entirely Etho’s fault. He was largely visually impaired, in part due to his albinism, and in other part due to the old injury that spanned across his right eye, leaving him mostly blind and practically devoid of any hand-eye coordination. Bdubs met him in a vulnerable time, so he’d kind of latched on, afraid of most other people for quite a long while, so Scar did understand, he did. However, sometimes Etho’s stubborn mannerisms could be very frustrating, especially since he was often opposed to any and all efforts to find him other accommodations.
Scar had been trying to convince him to get on the waitlist for a service dog for years (among quite a few other things), and that he would even help him train one from scratch (something Scar had always been interested in doing, and he had connections that could help him out), but Etho just wouldn’t budge. Bdubs really loved the idea, and the apartment they’d moved into a couple years ago had been explicitly picked because it allowed dogs, but alas, Etho was Etho, and whenever he and Bdubs made even the tiniest bit of progress to convince him, he would double right back weeks later.
This aversion to leaving the house did not, however, stop Etho from fucking off by himself constantly, which drove Bdubs crazy more than anyone else. If Etho was feeling nice, he’d give about a day’s advance notice, but half the time Bdubs would just come home from work to a note and an extremely unspecified time frame of when Etho would be back. That was part of the reason Bdubs wanted him to have a dog so badly; he really worried when Etho would go off by himself for days at a time, especially when he seemed to be so dependent on Bdubs so often. Though, Scar got the sense Bdubs was just as much an emotional support as he was a physical one, and told him as much on bad days when Bdubs couldn’t quite get out of his own head. Maybe that’s part of why Scar was so frustrated with Etho so often. It didn’t feel fair to Bdubs.
Still, what did Scar know anyway? Etho had been getting a bit better with his agoraphobia as well as general fear of literally everything, and in the past year he’d even gone out alone with Scar or Cleo; mundane things like taking a walk or grocery shopping, but monumental all the same. In hindsight, maybe the reason Etho was so opposed to a service dog was because of the part time mermaid business; he couldn’t exactly take it into the water or take care of it when he was away. Maybe the responsibility was too much pressure? Still, surely he had some control over when he was or wasn’t a mermaid; there had been someone else, someone he was coordinating with. Scar hadn’t known Etho had any other friends. Somehow, this felt just about as monumental as learning magic was real- maybe that was mean, but it was true. The stranger had been dressed oddly as well, though the robe was likely because mermaids didn’t really wear clothes. Pants probably wouldn’t end very well when you’re growing a tail.
He didn’t get much more time to think before he was at Bdubs’ and Etho’s apartment, taking the elevator up after he was buzzed in.
“Hello there!” he announced himself as he walked through the door, greeting Bdubs with a hug and Etho with a wave. He left Etho to whatever he was doing on his laptop, letting Bdubs sweep him away to the new members of the household. Scar named the cactus Squishy, which both of them found hilarious, and the vine Maple, for no other reason than it felt right. Grian arrived just a few minutes later, just as Etho was making sandwiches and Bdubs and Scar were chatting at the kitchen table, but Bdubs got up to greet him, his natural smile coming through. Scar’s own smile fell strained, his fingers curling against the grained wood as he fought to stay seated. Maybe Etho heard the squeak of his chair or his nails against the table, because just a moment later he was behind Scar, setting a plate on the placemat in front of him, and trailing a hand over his shoulder as he returned to the kitchen island. About the extent of Etho’s physical affection, and a gesture Scar appreciated deeply. After setting down two more plates; one for Bdubs and one for Grian, he sat by Scar’s side, leaving the chairs opposite from them open.
Bdubs and Grian didn’t join them immediately, Bdubs eager to give his tour, so Scar found something else to talk about while they waited, Etho offering his own sparse input while he played solitaire instead of eating, the cards laid in place of a plate. Scar wondered absently if Grian’s heart clenched like his did when he heard the other’s voice, or if there was just something wrong with him. He noticed Etho staring from his good eye, though had trouble reading him. Etho never did emote very much, and in combination with the mask, it wasn’t easy. On the other hand, Scar was sure Etho saw right through him.
“How do you like your sandwich?” Etho asked, turning back to his game, though it was quite obvious Scar hadn’t touched it.
“I was waiting,” he said, feeling a bit awkward, but Etho shook his head.
“Don’t.” There was intention there, so Scar didn’t fight him, getting the sense Etho was trying to tell him something he just wasn’t understanding. Maybe he looked less like a kicked puppy when he was eating. Or maybe Scar was just reading too much into it, and Etho just wanted to know how he liked the sandwich. But then again, Etho didn’t ask a second time.
It wasn’t long before Grian and Bdubs joined them though, Scar not noticing at all that Grian chose to sit across from Etho instead of him, but he didn’t get the chance to linger, not with Bdubs’ bright conversation and Etho’s small banter. It was nice, homey.
“So.” Etho started suddenly, Bdubs’ prior story hardly having ended before he spoke up, “When’s the interrogation? You’ve got me on the edge of my seat here,” he said, visibly relaxed as he continued his game, “Still on mermaids, or is it something different? It’s gotta be an event to have invited a partner in crime.”
Grian looked surprised, giving Scar a startled look that made him laugh, “Of course it’s still mermaids, we know, Etho, so it’s best if you admit it now. You’ve got a part time ocean job! That’s where you’re always disappearing to, obviously.”
“I- seriously? Scar, you told me I lack subtly! I didn’t think he knew yet!”
Etho laughed, and Scar did as well, giggling over his mostly eaten sandwich, “I did not say subtly. I said tact. How else am I supposed to get Etho to admit he’s a mermaid if I don’t tell him I think he’s a mermaid?” Scar began eying his glass of water, inching his hand toward it, but faster than a flash, Etho caught his wrist.
“Not again.”
“Not- Scar?” Grian squeaked, Bdubs scoffing in turn.
“Please don’t make another mess, I do not need to ask our neighbors to borrow a mop for the third time this week. If you aren’t going to finish it, water goes in the sink.”
“It was an important experiment!” Scar threw up his hands, Etho’s still attached to his wrist, “The first time could have been a fluke! He’s got to turn into a mermaid somehow!”
“If only it was that easy,” Etho said dryly, and laughed when Grian gaped at him, elbowing Scar, “Your friends are so gullible.”
Scar rolled his eyes. “Okay, in Impulse’s defense, you really played into the abducted by aliens bit- he was concerned! He really thought you were being experimented on!”
“Yeah,” Etho sighed, content, “That was hilarious.” He stopped for a moment, letting go of Scar’s wrist to take the glasses of water to the kitchen island, “This is too dangerous, actually. I will now be removing the temptation.”
“He doesn’t trust me,” Scar side eyed Grian with a small smirk, satisfied when Grian let out an exasperated groan.
“Is this what you’ve been doing all week? Just pouring water on Etho’s head? No wonder he hasn’t admitted anything! Is- do you guys just do this constantly? Make up reasons for his disappearances? No wonder he’s not taking you seriously! Have you even brought up the trail cams yet?”
The entire room froze, like time had completely halted. Bdubs’ eyebrows furrowed, giving Scar a confused look, while Scar put his head in his hands. “..No tact.”
“What?” Grian looked briefly panicked, his voice pitching up an octave, “Did I say something I wasn’t supposed to? What- Scar, why didn’t you tell me? What else haven’t you said?”
Etho hadn’t turned around from his place at the island, just standing there, staring stiff straight ahead. “What cameras, Scar?”
Ah. Yeah. The exact kind of bad tone Scar was really hoping to avoid today and also forever.
“Scar,” Bdubs said darkly, always quick to the defense, “You have not been stalking Etho, have you? You have videos of him?”
“No- It’s not like that, Bdubs, I was watching something else- they’re trail cameras, they’re for animals, the fact that Etho was on them was just chance! I promise I wasn’t deliberately looking out for anyone, it just happened that-“ Scar grit his teeth, struggling to fix this before Bdubs actually caught wind of what was going on, “There’s nothing actually on them. I was hoping to get some cool footage of the deer in the forest preserve by the lake, the one without trails or anything. Just saw Etho through one of them, thought it was an odd coincidence. I know you’re very particular about your privacy, Etho,” Scar shot Grian a sharp look, Grian not getting the message in the slightest and bristling through his panic.
“You didn’t tell me-“
“Sorry.” Scar interrupted him through gritted teeth, “I shouldn’t have shown anyone. Just got excited, I wasn’t thinking. Thought you met one of my friends, that’s all.” If there was any doubt about exactly what Scar and Grian had seen before, now there was none, as obvious as the tenseness in Etho’s back when Scar said the words out loud. Bdubs noticed it too, of course he noticed. Scar just hoped he didn’t pick up on the hurried lie.
“You should go.” Bdubs said, just as tired as he sounded angry, but his voice softened when he turned to Grian, “I’m really sorry. Now’s just a bad time.”
“I understand,” Grian got to his feet, looking relieved for an excuse to run, “I didn’t realize.. I’m sorry. Your apartment is lovely, truly, and lunch was great as well. Thank you.”
“Scar.” Bdubs turned a glare his way, and Scar was up and away in the same moment, passing Grian on his retreat to the door. For a moment, Scar considered taking the elevator, then came to the conclusion that nothing would be worse than getting in a small box with a furious Grian. Unfortunately for him, Grian followed him down the stairs, and not even his own long legs could keep him far enough from his wrath.
“Scar.” Grian’s venom was a quiet hiss, potent enough to knock him over, “What was that? Seriously! What the fuck? Why didn’t you tell me you hadn’t said anything! I didn’t realize you were just poking fun all week! I thought you were serious about this!”
“I thought- I thought- I don’t know! I thought we were just going to hang out, have a little fun! I thought you might want to meet Etho and- I don’t know! I didn’t expect you to say anything in front of Bdubs, come on! I didn’t think I had to tell you! I just thought you would know that!”
“You don’t think Bdubs knows?”
“I- Grian, of course he doesn’t know! What gave you any impression he did?”
“You- seriously!? You’ve been telling me all week about this friend that disappears or locks himself in the bathroom for days at a time and you don’t think his roommate who you tell me he’s extremely codependent on has any idea? I don’t believe that at all!”
“Etho is very protective of his privacy, Grian, and Bdubs respects that. I promise you, he doesn’t know. Etho takes his secrets to the grave.”
“I just don’t believe it. I don’t.”
“Come on, Grian!” Scar didn’t mean to shout, but he wasn’t very sorry either. Grian only came down harder on his heels, nearly tripping him down the stairs.
“What? What?” Grian growled, stomping as he went, “This is insane. You’re just expecting me to accept that Bdubs asks zero questions? That Etho just doesn’t eat when he’s locked himself up? You told me Etho can’t drive, so how does he get from place to place when he’s got to go to the water?”
Scar seethed, and it took all of his self control to keep walking. “It’s nice to hear you know more about my friends than I do, Grian. If you must know, it’s been quite a point of contention for them for years! Maybe you have to stick your nose where it doesn’t belong to get information out of your friends, but mine actually like to talk to me, so I’d appreciate it if you believed me when I tell you for certain Bdubs doesn’t know, and even if I didn’t explicitly tell you not to say that shit, maybe it should have been common sense!” Scar stepped hard onto the lobby’s landing, huffing as he strode toward the front entrance, but was stopped short as Grian grabbed the back of his jacket, yanking hard.
“So this is my fault now? Go on, Scar, if you’re thinking it, then say it. Turn around and say it to my face. Say it!”
“What’re you gonna do,” Scar scorned, pushing Grian off his back, “Throw a fit in the lobby? Hit me? You don’t even care about Etho, you’re just interested in what he can give you. People like you are the reason he has to hide.”
“I hope you’re not implying what I think you are, Scar.” Grian’s eyes were dark, but Scar couldn’t have given less of a fuck.
“Come on,” Scar sneered, “Don’t think I didn’t notice. The minute you stopped looking at Mumbo as a way to make a quick buck, you stopped caring altogether. You didn’t even want to see him when he came back! He’s not worth your time anymore. No one’s-” Grian reared back, and Scar didn’t get to finish before Grian nailed him in the jaw, sending him stumbling. And fuck if it didn’t feel good.
Scar saw red, lunging forward and grabbing fistfuls of Grian’s sweater before shoving him to the ground. Grian did not go down easy, kicking forcefully at Scar’s legs, then getting ahold of his shirt and dragging him the rest of the way down with a strength Scar didn’t know he possessed.
“You hurt me!” someone wailed, and after a moment, Scar was pretty sure it was him, only nearly rolling out of the way as Grian threw another punch.
“I want to!” Grian shrieked in return, winding back, but Scar kicked him before he could finish, leaping on top before he could sit up. Grian battered Scar’s stomach with his legs, and Scar found himself wrestling blindly on the floor, clawing at skin and sweaters for any purchase at all. The ding of the elevator stopped both of them in their tracks. Scar was only aware he was on top, only aware his hand was raised when someone grabbed it, yanking him up and right out the two sets of front doors. Scar just let himself be dragged to his feet and away, bodily awareness returning slower than the time it took him to walk an entire block. He only realized Grian was trailing after them two blocks later. Them. Etho, walking so far ahead of him, the two of their arms were taut. He did not speak. He did not look back. Well. Scar was a little too in shock to do either of those things anyway.
Etho brought them to one part of the forest preserve close to their houses, the least populated part, typically known for its unkempt trails and thin walking paths with not much to see, so, perfect for being yelled at probably. Which Etho seemed eager to do, since they didn’t even get five feet onto the trail before Etho turned, still aggressively holding Scar’s hand. The few seconds he waited for Grian to catch up were some of the tensest in Scar’s life.
“It is just my luck,” Etho began, and Scar was pretty sure he’d never been more afraid in his entire life, “That I happen to know the two idiots in the entire country who’ve befriended a fucking mermaid.”
Scar didn’t say a word. Neither did Grian.
“Does anyone else know?”
Scar looked at Grian. Grian looked at Scar.
“No,” Scar said.
Etho sighed raggedly, shoulders falling, “Okay. Okay. I need you to tell me exactly what was on those cameras. And if you haven’t deleted the footage, you will. Actually, I’d like to go to your place and watch you delete it. I need. The peace of mind.”
Scar looked at Grian. Grian looked at Scar.
“Will one of you two just talk to me?”
Scar pursed his lips, looking at Grian. Grian looked right back. Scar glanced guiltily at Etho, then right back to Grian, and Grian looked-
“Scar. Scar. Tell me what you saw.”
“Uh-” Scar startled, finding this a little unfair since he had answered the last question, but Etho was very scary and looking at him expectantly, so there wasn’t much else he could do, “We saw you and Mumbo. The mermaid. And we saw you laying on the beach for a while. And then Mumbo came back, and you didn’t look so good. And there was that other guy-”
“So you saw everything,” Etho cut him off flatly, looking tired. Scar nodded feverishly, and beside him Grian did the same. Etho let go of Scar’s hand, only to put his head in his own. “What are the chances.”
“Do you speak his language? The same language as Mumbo?” Grian piped up, and Scar shot him a startled look, to which Grian glared back, to which Scar glared back, to which-
“Uhm,” Etho sounded confused, removing his hands from his face, “Yes? I imagine we grew up in the same place.. Don’t ask questions about where I’m from. Actually, don’t ask me anything at all. Don’t talk to me.”
But Grian lit up, eyes shining brighter than Scar had ever seen them, “I told you!” he shot back at Scar, who folded his arms, but Grian was not deterred, turning back to a frightened looking Etho, “Will you teach me? I want to learn it, I want to talk to him. I want to know what he’d say to us if he could- so you grew up a mermaid? You learned English! Could you teach him English? I- I mean we’re already teaching him, but it would be so much easier if you could help us!” Grian cut himself off, looking sheepish before continuing, “Is he- do you know if Mumbo’s actually a guy? I mean, I doubt he cares what we call him, but I was just thinking about that the other day, we don’t actually know.”
“I- no? No, no, and no, no, I am not doing any of that. Why do you even-? No. And Mumbo isn’t anything, we don’t do gender, but he did tell us he liked the pronouns you gave him, so hey, there you go.”
“I-I want to thank him! And I want to tell him I’m sorry.”
Etho stared for a moment, stunned, and Scar found himself similarly shocked, giving Grian his own wide eyed stare. “That’s.. Sweet,” Etho finally said, conflict creasing his brow. “Well.. thank you is,” ‘Thank you,’ “and I’m sorry is,” ‘Sorry.’ Etho snapped as he whistled, presumably in intervals where a mermaid would have clicked. “I guess I can send Scar voice memos if you want them, but full offense, I do not want your number.”
“What?? Why not!”
“I think you’re going to be very annoying.”
Scar snorted, and Grian snapped to face him, looking about two seconds away from committing manslaughter, but he seemed to calm himself down enough to speak to Etho again. “Okay. Fine. Then tell me how to say ‘I’m sorry I took advantage of your trust and tried to shoot you in the face.’”
Etho, deadpan, started to translate, but Scar interrupted him with a startled, “You did WHAT?”
“Yeah,” Grian said, the notes in his voice all casual. He looked at his nails, almost bored, “Came out right after he bit you. He had no idea. Wanted to know what it was I was holding.”
“I- I can’t believe you! And you never told me? What else have you done and never said a word about?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know.”
“Okay, enough of this, I don’t care,” Etho pushed between them in a forceful huff, “Scar, take me to your house. I’ll send you the thing for Grian later, and as an apology for screaming at each other so loud we could hear you on the fourth floor, you’re going to walk me home. And never talk about this ever again.”
“Okay, wait, I don’t actually want to say that to Mumbo-“
“Come on then.” Grabbing at Scar’s hand, Etho started to drag him the other direction, ignoring the offended sound Grian made behind him.
“I’m not just going to go away.” Grian huffed, following at Scar’s heel, “We have to walk the same direction. And I don’t agree to these terms either, I have quite a bit to say to you.”
“Annoying.” Was all Etho had to say to that, and Scar could hear Grian seething behind them. He wasn’t about to push his luck with Etho though and stayed quiet, walking at his side instead of awkwardly behind him. Grian (pointedly, Scar imagined) didn’t even stop when Scar and Etho turned off onto the street that led to Scar’s house, not looking their way or saying goodbye, and most definitely pissed off this didn’t go his way. Scar was glad for it. He was glad to be right. He was glad to feel ugly.
Etho stuttered to a stop when he reached Scar’s desk, and Scar only remembered now that he should probably feel embarrassed about this. Even Grian had been surprised and possibly a little concerned, but sue Scar for caring about his friends! Four cameras displayed on two separate monitors wasn’t even that many. It was like he was the only person on the planet that thought mermaids were cool!
“This is.. Wow, Scar.” If Etho was trying to hide how judgemental he sounded, he was doing a poor job, but then again, it was Etho, so he probably didn’t care to preserve Scar’s feelings. “This is always going?”
“Yeah.” Scar said shortly, sitting down to pull up the footage from the prior week, and aching at the thought of deleting it. And he would, obviously he would for Etho, it was just.. the first videos he had of Mumbo. It didn’t matter how grainy the footage was, it was Mumbo, and he was coming back, coming home to see them. God Scar wanted to see him. But honestly, it would probably be best for Mumbo as well if no photos or videos of him existed anywhere. The last thing Scar wanted was for something awful to happen to him. “Here it is,” Scar leaned back, showing Etho the sped up clip. In the end, it didn’t matter much if Scar deleted it; he’d already watched the whole thing like a hundred times, basically committing it to memory.
“You really did see everything,” Etho breathed, and Scar nodded numbly, chin resting on his hands as he watched. “I gave Mumbo quite the fright. I feel a little bad about it.”
“You should feel bad. He hasn’t come back.” Scar had to fight to keep his voice even, but Etho wasn’t stupid, looking a bit awkward as he shifted his weight.
“Sorry ‘bout that. I didn’t know. I mean, I really didn’t know, obviously, but if it helps you feel any better, I doubt he’ll be gone for long. He really likes you guys, was excited to show you all the stuff he brought up from deeper waters.” Etho paused for a long moment, staring at his hands. Earlier in the week, they had painted each other’s nails, and the paint on Etho’s was already chipping. He always did enjoy peeling it off.
“You could apologize yourself, y’know. Come out and see him, at least once.”
“Ehhh,” Etho shrugged his shoulders close to his body, his frown evident even through the mask, “I don’t know about that, Scar. I doubt he likes me very much anymore anyway. Mermaids can be jumpy things, and he was very kind, but nervous. He didn’t like Joel at all, which is reasonable; there’s not a single person on the planet that likes Joel, and that’s the way he prefers it. I just mean to say he probably associates the two of us now, and even if he liked me before, he probably sees me as a threat now. If you think about it, we kinda came in and trashed his safe place with a bunch of bullshit. He will not be pleased.”
“Joel.. The other guy? Your secret friend?”
Etho snorted, “Friend is a strong word.”
Scar frowned, worry creasing his brow. Etho seemed a little alarmed by the expression, but Scar spoke before he got the chance to backpedal, “Is.. Who is he, then? Is he..” Scar trailed off, searching for the right word. It was a little hard to get over how uncomfortable Etho looked before the change, and even afterwards, Scar couldn’t imagine it being anything less than painful, “hurting you..?” Scar decided on, and Etho looked away, back to the screens.
“It’s complicated. Joel’s a weird guy,” Etho didn’t look very much like he wanted to elaborate, but Scar’s supremely Unsatisfied With That Answer face seemed to convince him, “Joel is.. I don’t know. He lives on a small island off the coast, concealed from most human sights; maps, satellites, and such. I believe he was cursed, or maybe banished there at some point- even knowing him for so long, most of the details are unclear. I don’t even know if he was ever born, or just- made by someone else, messing with forces they definitely shouldn’t. All this to say, I don't think he has parents, and it's quite up in the air about whether or not he has a conscience either. He doesn’t really see the world or the people in it as anything beyond how it can entertain or benefit him. So when I ended up washing up at his shores, he thought he might be able to use me to escape. Get off the island, you know? He was half right.”
“Do I need to beat the piss out of this guy?”
“No,” Etho said, all too simply, “He’d probably just wipe you off the face of the Earth, literally. I don’t know exactly what he is, but he’s got some sort of power over the island. You’ll never see it, he would never let you, but the place he’s made for himself is beautiful. He doesn’t do much else besides terraform it and watch unsuspecting ships crash into it and laugh at them; really, he’s not a pleasant guy. Extremely arguably not human, either. I don’t know much about it, I’ve never gotten to meet his.. relatives. Heavy quotes there. Doubt they’d be very pleased that the embodiment of pure evil they created found a way to leave the little island prison he is confined to.”
Scar stared, pretending to understand any of that made any sense. “This all makes perfect sense to me.”
Etho scoffed a small laugh, “Welcome to the club. Imagine that’s your only exposure to ‘humanity’ for two years, and then you finally get out into the real world and realize that actually magic doesn’t exist anywhere and that guy that peeled you off the rocks was an outlier. Anyway, it was pretty cool to figure out people were nice. But yeah, basically, my understanding of what he did to me was split our souls? We share them, kind of, which means a whole lot of bullshit, but mainly it means that he doesn’t start melting every time he sets foot off the island. He doesn’t melt at all as a mermaid, though he’s just about as reclusive as it gets, so he hangs around anyway, terraforming the underwater bits of his island. Apparently there’s a lot of safeguards meant to keep him trapped there, but they don’t account for species changes. And no, I don’t know why I don’t melt. He thought I would for ages, but apparently spellwork attaches to people specifically, and doesn’t transfer over soulbounds? I don’t know.”
“You’re losing me here, Etho.”
“Yeah. That's about 80% of the reason I didn’t tell Mumbo anything. Because then he’d ask questions, and I’d just have to shrug my shoulders and say I don’t know, because literally, I do not know. I’ve just started accepting these things as they happen to me. It really doesn’t help that Joel is a compulsive liar. But I guess to kind of answer your question, no, this was not voluntary, and I have very little control over whether I’m human or not. Joel has too much power over me for me to call him a friend, but as a placeholder, it works. I wouldn’t go back though, if you were wondering. To being a mermaid. I’m happy, much happier than I was in the ocean; I just couldn’t quite find my place. And you guys have computers, seriously, that shit is awesome.” Scar thought he saw a ghost of a smile under Etho’s mask, but it quickly vanished, “Of course, my life is now in serious jeopardy, but if all else fails, I guess I’ll just go back to the island and live there full time again.” Etho shrugged, and Scar frowned, fidgeting.
“We aren’t going to tell anyone, Etho. I can promise you that, really. Neither of us have said a word about Mumbo- we both know what could happen. I don’t want either of you to be killed or sold off somewhere or anything, especially not you, god.” Scar paused, closing his eyes and bracing himself, “And I.. I really think you should tell Bdubs.”
“No.”
“Come on, Etho, just listen-”
“No. And that’s the end of it. I don’t care who it is or how much I trust them or even the extent they would go to keep this secret a secret, I will not take any risks. And Bdubs respects that, he respects that some things I’d rather keep to myself, so it’s none of your business whether I tell him anything at all. You don’t get a say, not when your life isn’t on the line. I have very little control over my life, Scar, and now there’s two more people out there that have more power over me than I do. So if you really love me, you won’t say a word about this ever again.”
“I-” Scar looked helplessly at his hands, unable to look Etho’s intensity in the eyes. “Okay. I’m sorry. I won’t ask again.”
Etho’s shoulders relaxed substantially, and he closed his eyes for a long while, silence slowly chipping away at the tension. Scar didn’t dare break it. Eventually, Etho did so himself, “And Joel’s alright. He’s not alright for you or anyone else, but he’s alright for me. I like him. He really likes me; a bit clingy, honestly. He doesn’t really.. he doesn’t know how to respect me as a person, but he’s trying. It’s easy enough to ignore. We get along, so it's nothing for you to worry about. But if it’s okay, that’s all I really want to talk about him right now.” Etho quieted, and Scar nodded, not entirely knowing what to do with this.
“I’m sorry,” he said instead, “I’m sorry this happened to you. And I.. I mean, I don’t understand it all, but I hope you’ll find a bit more power over your own life.”
Etho nodded, but in acknowledgment rather than agreement, “I won’t.”
There was nothing else to say. Scar deleted the footage without another word, showing Etho in every way he could manage that it was gone, not because the other asked, but because he wanted to. He wanted Etho to feel safe. Though, no matter how long Scar scoured his face, it was impossible to tell.
“Alright,” Etho stood a little straighter after it was done, “I’m going to head out now. I know I asked you to walk me back, but I actually think I’d rather be alone right now. Thank you, Scar.”
Scar blinked, surprised, “Are you sure? Bdubs wouldn’t mind driving over if you wanted him to. He’s probably worried, you know how he gets.”
“I want to be alone right now.”
And that was that.
The front door clicked shut as Etho exited, not even wanting to be walked to the door, and Scar was left to lay in bed and sit on everything he had learned. None of it made any more sense with the passing of time, and Scar felt so overloaded with information, he was finding it easier just to accept it all without question. My friend was a mermaid. Still is, but part time. He’s got some sort of magic bond with some freak that treats him poorly, but apparently they hang out just fine. Friend might be a demon. Those might as well be real. Magic is real. Kind of. Scar wasn’t sure if that one would process in his brain anytime soon. And how did this damn island work? If people disappeared on it, surely someone would notice eventually. Surely the government knew, or something. Maybe the government already knew magic existed. They must, right?
It kind of sounded like Joel killed people. Was anyone going to do anything about that? Damn, if Etho ever decided to talk about any of this stuff, that would be the craziest rage room session of all time. He wouldn’t, though. A shame.
At this point, Scar kind of felt like his brain was going to explode, so he simply stopped thinking about it. Unsuccessfully. Then he laughed out loud when he imagined trying to explain everything Etho had told him to Grian. Grian the control freak, who needed to know every detail in order to be satisfied, who would needle you for hours if that’s how long it took him to get the facts straight. Grian was a pretty good mediator among their many interconnected friend groups for that reason; he came with his own biases of course, but when it came down to it, he just wanted to get the whole story, and that was useful for working out miscommunications.
Grian. Nothing about him was satisfying. God, Scar was angry, he was so angry, and that felt bad, but so much better than being sad and awkward all the time, and suddenly Scar wanted nothing more than to be back on the dingy carpet of the apartment lobby, hissing and grunting and beating the piss out of each other; finish what they started. But he couldn’t exactly do that, so he took a shower about it instead, head resting idly against the tile as the water ran down his back. About an hour of that passed before he got bored of it, so he got out, not even remembering if he washed his hair, and collapsed once more onto his bed. The thought still hadn’t left his head. He eyed his phone dangerously.
Etho had sent him a text telling him he got home safe, no doubt sent after Bdubs pestered him to do so. Pearl had asked something about needing to buy some more supplies for the sanitation department at the zoo, which Scar okayed without even looking at the list. He opened Grian’s messages.
‘Are you sober?’ Scar watched the screen idly, eyes half lidded, but perked up a bit when Grian answered quickly.
‘yes? it’s 3:00 Scar’
‘why.’
Scar typed and deleted the message for five whole minutes, struggling to put his thoughts to words. Well. At this point, there was no sugarcoating this.
‘I want to fight. And then get very drunk. And then maybe fight again. And then throw up probably’
‘We didn’t get to finish’
‘would feel irresponsible asking if you were not sober’
‘how sweet’
‘I’ll be right over. I want to trash your house’
‘I did not invite you.’
Grian did not respond. Scar didn’t need to wait more than a minute before knowing he wasn’t going to. Fine then. Good to know he wasn’t the only person here that was fucked in the head.
And ten minutes later, Grian was knocking at his door. Knocking continuously, obnoxiously, until he seemed to remember Scar had a doorbell, and then he focused most of his energy on ringing that a thousand and one times. By the time Scar made it to the door, Grian had evolved his strategy to do both at the same time. Scar flung the door open to a smug looking Grian, and promptly slammed it in his face the moment he moved to step inside. The muffled yelp through the wall was deeply satisfying, and when Scar reopened the door, Grian was cradling his nose. Scar couldn’t help but crack a smirk.
“Not so smug now, are you?”
Grian opened his mouth to speak, once again moving to step forward, but Scar slammed the door closed again, pushing with his whole body in the case Grian tried to stop it with his hand, then cackled when Grian yelped a second time, his shoes scuffing on the pavement outside.
“You are SO childish!”
“And you’re a damn bore.” Scar began to open the door once more, but was surprised when Grian burst through it, grabbing Scar by the collar and yanking him down so hard their heads collided, both of them reeling, but Grian not letting go. The silence was long as they both recovered, heads still close enough that Scar could smell Grian’s ragged breaths.
“You.” Grian pushed out through gritted teeth, “Smell nice.”
Ah! So he must have washed his hair after all. “Just showered,” Scar said simply, and Grian sniggered, glaring through narrowed eyes.
“For me?”
“Not quite. Just had to after touching you, makes me feel dirty. Doesn’t matter how often you shower, you’ll never stop smelling like fish-“ Scar didn’t quite get to finish, Grian slamming him against the wall opposite of the front door, which, by the way, was still wide open.
“I wonder how long it’ll take you to start smelling like manure again. Guess we’ll find out when you start to sweat.”
“I suppose we will. Mind closing the door?”
“What, afraid someone’ll see you getting your teeth kicked in?”
“Yes, actually, I’d rather not have the police called on us, thank you very much.”
“That’s a risk I’m willing to take.”
“Fuck off.” Scar shoved hard, and Grian stumbled back against the amour by the door, knocking the keybowl clattering to the floor. Scar shut the door, eying Grian smugly, “Did you really think I wasn’t letting you hold me? Come on G, you’re not that strong.”
Grian huffed, lunging for his arms instead of answering, and the next few moments were spent fighting over wrists, grabbing and pulling and yanking for any kind of control. Scar hit another wall, just barely tackling Grian under a punch. But Scar couldn’t quite drag him to the ground like he so desperately wanted, and fell hard as Grian kneed his stomach, stealing his air. Scar did end up getting his wish of taking this to the floor, but instead with Grian’s hands like vices around his wrists and the wind knocked out of him. Not.. ideal.
“One minute,” he wheezed, and Grian snickered, digging his nails around Scar’s wrists.
“Did someone get more than he bargained for?” Grian cooed, “You’d look so pretty with a black eye, don’t you think?” Grian raised his fist, but Scar just barely caught it before it could collide with his face, his own hand still smashing painfully against his nose.
“Aren’t you just a little flirt today?” Scar sneered, yanking Grian’s arm down and throwing the rest of him off balance, then kicking him into the opposite wall.
“No,” Grian grunted, gritting his teeth as Scar shoved him up by his arms, shoulders battering the wall, “I just tell it like it is. Whether or not you think it’s flirting is a you problem.”
“Alright,” Scar huffed, shaking out his hair. He lifted Grian off the wall and slammed him back against it, pinning him harshly against his chest, “Then I think you look quite nice yourself, hunched over and panting like a dog.” Scar narrowed his eyes, dark. “Just telling it like it is.”
Grian kissed him. It wasn’t nice, nor was it pretty, and Scar was too startled to even move against it, only jerking back after another moment.
“What the fuck was that?” Scar spat, new anger coiling in his gut, but Grian didn’t flinch, eyes narrow and even.
“Whatever you want it to be, I suppose.”
Well.
Scar had known the answer to that question for a while, hadn’t he? Grian’s lips were chapped, unpleasant to the touch, as he was sure his own were as well. But it wasn’t much of a problem, not as tongues collided, as Scar remembered every unpleasant sensation of making out with someone, still intoxicating all the same. Sick. They were both sick in the head, weren’t they? Scar was dizzy with it- actually, on second thought..
“Grian,” Scar breathed, forehead resting on Grian’s own, “We should probably.. get checked out by a doctor.. or something.”
“What?” Grian laughed, a breathy thing with little sound, “Like, for mental illnesses?”
“No, for concussions. But. Also that, probably,” Scar joined him in laughing despite himself, breathing heavily against Grian’s chest, and eugh, yeah no, he was definitely still dizzy, but at the same time..
“Maybe,” Grian’s lips grazed Scar’s cheek, settling around his jaw, still tender from when Grian had punched him. The bruise was dark the last time Scar had checked. “But I believe you promised me we’d get ‘very drunk’ earlier, and I haven’t forgotten. Where else have you bruised I wonder,” Grian mumbled, pressing a kiss to the tender skin. Scar whined, looking away, and Grian giggled, pressing light kisses to his throat instead.
“That’s.. dangerous.”
“You think I’m dangerous, Scar?” Grian pushed impossibly close, and despite being the one on top, Scar felt as trapped as if he’d been pinned.
“Well, yes,” he admitted, suddenly feeling a bit shy, moreso when Grian giggled against his neck, “I was still talking about the concussions though. And drinking. Y’know.”
“Hm,” Grian considered him thoughtfully, though it was a bit distracting to feel the vibrations against his skin, “You make a good point.” Grian paused, lips gliding to the corner of Scar’s own, “Then whatever you decide, I’ll follow. Personally, I’d love to wake up tomorrow regretting today.” Grian’s fingers trailed up Scar’s side, thumb brushing below his shirt and making him shiver.
“Likewise,” Scar murmured, letting Grian trail soft kisses across his jaw, “Well.. Let’s see where this goes, hm?” With the way Grian was looking at him, Scar was starting to get a pretty good idea of exactly where this was going, and he didn’t have a single complaint. “Yeah,” he sighed, closing his eyes, “Let’s make a mess.”

More BlaCaviar/Pearlviar
I had done this a while ago, but many times I just scan the drawings and completely forget about them in my "Scan" folder. Also, lately I have been very stressed and losing hours of sleep, nothing serious, just family events and the fact that I am close to finishing my university degree. I've also been a little addicted to ARK: Survived Ascended but that's another topic.
Anyway, as I was coming up, a long time ago I had made a story that I never finished, but maybe one day it will end (XD) as soon as I drew it and I forgot about it. After years of the beginning of the marriage of Black Pearl and Caviar, adding the birth of their two daughters, the republic never knew who Black Pearl really was, it was only known that the Duskgloom Sea attacks had stopped, no one knew the reason, It just happened, without imagining that the beast of the Duskgloom Sea now inhabited the republic.
For a reason that I have not yet questioned, the republic ends up finding out who BlackPearl is, causing panic in the republic (Something not very surprising yupee) in addition to the fact that the sailors who have lost ships and family in the Duskgloom Sea, made a demonstration in they seeks justice since BlackPearl is responsible for those losses, she knows it, but she has changed and tries to make an apology that obviously no one accepts, they want to bring her to justice or take justice into their own hands. Caviar, who defends his wife, knows that there must be justice but not in that way, but the inhabitants of the Republic take him as an accomplice of the "Beast of the Duskgloom Sea" where things end up getting out of control, since even the Other Elders of the Republic get involved, Custard II being one of the most involved, since he sees the Sovereign of Duskgloom Sea as a great help to defend the republic, basically, a weapon.
As he is the "Leader" of the Elders of the Republic, he decides to propose a deal to Captain Caviar and BlackPearl, where he would calm all the Republicans, forgive the mermaid's crime but only if she agrees to be part of the arms of the Republic. republic, although it is a good proposal, neither Black Pearl nor Caviar are convinced when they learn of the bad tricks of Custard II, by not accepting a whole disaster results that ends in the separation of the members of the Salty Shark, the imprisonment of Caviar and the capture of BlackPearl. And I left it until then, I didn't take up the topic again because I was busy with my classes.
Regarding the separation of the Salty Shark, it was to keep Caviar and BlackPearl's daughters safe, since, if they try to use BlackPearl as a form of weapon or defense of the republic, they could do it with the girls as well, after They are all half Mermaids, this would lead to an adventure in the ocean, where the girls find out that they are like their mother, seek help from BlackPearl's sisters and blablabla. I stayed there and didn't continue, maybe one day I'll come back but, that's the context of these doodles

Pairing: Bachira Meguru x Mermaid! reader
Summary: A story where Bachira helps a mermaid in problems and they grow attached to each other because of their curious personalities.
Tumblr media
"Haha! We got one!"
Two men near a little bay secluded from the quiet coast.
"Look at her scales! So shiny!"
Deep waters full of vibrant corals, home of many fish... and some mermaids.
A strong net imprisoned the mermaid, who fought against the force that was pulling her away from the sea. When a dirty hand went to grab her, she defended herself.
In this world, a mermaid's poison sold like gold, being the most powerful in the world. It was used for medicine and drugs, among others. It was very rare and very precious.
"Ah, careful! Did she stung you?" Panicked eyes stared at their companion.
However, as a mermaid, if your poison isn't deadly or lethal,
"Huh? What is this? It just felt like a little zap."
You weren't worth more than tuna.
"Really? We spent hours fishing for this?"
The mermaid still tried to resist against the tight ropes that held her hostage.
"I don't know man." The stung man ran a hand through his hair. "Maybe we can sell her scales or something."
"Forget it, the government is very attentive about anything that involves the mermaids' wellbeing."
"Let's just go home."
They both sighed and carelessly let go of the net, letting the mermaid fall unceremoniously on the sand. They didn't feel an ounce of respect for her as they left her under the burning sun to die. The mermaid didn't find any energy left to keep resisting and went limp.
Hell, she knew her poison was worthless. Even other mermaids made fun of her constantly, that's why she travels alone. But being treated like this by humans made what she had left of dignity to crumble.
Tumblr media
Laughter and chatting echoed through the coast as a numerous group of friends arrived at the beach. They dispersed and played volleyball, swam a little, made sand castles... The usual activities in a summer vacation.
Then, a boy with yellow eyes wandered happily further from the group.
"Hey Bachira! Where are you going?"
"To explore!" He shouted back excitedly as he disappeared behind a bush. His friends decided to let the adventurous boy be, being aware of his curious and playful personality.
When he pushed away a big leaf from a palm tree, he was met with an incredible sight. A bay surrounded of vegetation was hiding there. The clear water clashed against the rocks, making a peaceful sound. Despite this, when his eyes drifted where the sand was more prominent, being in the shore, he spot a laying figure. He walked closer to it, examining her with an inquisitive gaze.
'A mermaid?!'
His eyes fixated on the way the sun reflected on her (f/c) scales and her fins laid like silk in the sand. She had pointy ears and sharp teeth were noticeable in her features.
"Pretty..."
However, his mesmerized trance switched to a worried frown as he didn't see any movement from her, the net trapping her body. Just who is so cruel to do this? He tried to pry off the net from her with no avail. The movements made the mermaid drowsily awake as she saw someone else with her. She followed her first instinct and stung him to try and scare him away. The boy jolted away and held his hand.
"Hey don't zap me! I'm trying to help you!"
Although, seeing as the ropes didn't budge, Bachira went off to find a tool that could help him. He found a branch that was spiky at the sides and thought that it should do. He came back and stuck his tongue out in concentration as he worked.
The mermaid's thoughts wandered wildly. What did this boy want with her? What would he do to her? The idea of him taking her poison by force crossed her mind, but after her earlier failed display of abilities, she doubted it. Maybe he really was helping her after all.
Albeit that hopeful thought, her panic didn't decrease. Her quick ragged huffs made her cough harshly. Her skin was dry and her lungs burned with each breath she took. Thankfully, Bachira got the memo rapidly.
"Ah right! Water!"
He looked back and stared at the fresh water from the ocean. Thoughts as grabbing a bucket or making a small river crossed his mind, but in the end he opted to carry her there. She felt strong arms lift and bring her to the shallow waters. The rope scratched her irritated skin and she winced in pain. Bachira apologized softly.
'At least is better than drying off in the sun.' She thought.
She sighed as her body hydrated again, some water being splashed by the boy to wet the parts that stayed over the water level. After he noticed she was feeling better, he continued his task on freeing her. When he managed to cut down some ropes over her torso, she aided him weakly as much as she could with her arms.
Minutes that felt like hours passed and the net was finally cut down to the point he could take it off her with his hands. The mermaid felt as good as ever, no longer being caged in tight cords. She crawled to deeper waters and stretched, going for a quick swim of freedom right after.
Bachira hoped onto a rock near her and watched as she swam skillfully through the water. His eyes lighted up and a wide smile creeped his way to his face. It was a very beautiful sight indeed. He saw her come closer and crouched down on the rock to be more at her eye level. She raised her webbed hand in order to tell him something, but he high-fived her instead.
"That was awesome! You swim really fast!"
She deadpanned at the excited boy. That was... not what she wanted to communicate. She was growing desperate after many attempts of communication were misunderstood by Bachira, who innocently tilted his head. He laughed as this seemed to be a funny guessing game to him. She face palmed and went for another tactic. She raised both of her hands in a motion.
"You want me to wait here?"
She nodded enthusiastically. She really should have learned to speak human language. Before Bachira could say anything else, she quickly disappeared under the water.
Some time passed and she found him still sitting on the rock, whistling a small tune. She approached him and he saw her from his peripheral vision.
"You're back!"
She smiled and stretched her arms towards him, a beautiful shell resting on her palms. He leaned closer to look at it as she had an eager expression on her face.
"Is this for me? As a thank you?"
She nodded again and pushed her hands closer to him. He raised his hand to take the shiny object from her, a childish smile on his lips.
"Thank you, I love it! It's so pretty!"
She only widened her smile in response. They 'chatted' a little more until Bachira pondered it was time to leave. He got up and trotted in direction of his friends before stopping in his tracks and turning around.
"Will you be here tomorrow?" He shouted.
She gave him a thumbs up in hopes he could see it from where he was standing. She figured he did as he slightly jumped and waved her goodbye, making her raise her hand too. She dived into the colorful reef and swam happily among the fish. Maybe some humans weren't that bad at the end.
Bachira was spotted by the group while he came back, skipping along the sand.
"Welcome back. Did you find anything?"
He hid the gifted shell in his swimming wear's pocket.
"Nope." He smiled.
Tumblr media
The next morning, Bachira got ready at max speed so he had time to read a book about mermaids he saw in the shelf in Reo's beach house last night. He found it and quickly opened it, eyeing it's contents.
He passed over all the poison market thing, thinking it was not important. The only thing he wondered is that if that zap from yesterday was it. Having heard a thing or two about the topic, he remembered that a mermaid's poison can be lethal, but very useful.
'I guess her poison is not that strong. Well, lucky me. I could have died.' A drop of sweat ran down the side of his face as he smiled nervously, moving on to the next page.
'Ah, mermaids' behavior and language. This could be useful.'
He read about a lot of stuff regarding body language and signs that indicate emotions, trying to keep all the information in his brain, as hard as that is. Really, this must be the longest time he ever sat in front of a book.
- Shells can be gifted to other mermaids or creatures as a way to express gratitude and/or friendship. The shinier and smooth it is, the more sentimental value it holds.
His smile widened at that information.
'Haha! I knew it.'
He took out the shell and caressed it with his thumb. He did thought it was very nice and lovely. His gaze softened while he felt all giddy in the inside.
"Bachira we're ready! Come down!"
He quickly closed the book and rushed downstairs where all his friends were. He couldn't wait to arrive at the beach and see if you were there, as you said.
Tumblr media
When they set up everything at the private beach, Bachira snook out discreetly and went over to the little bay. Sadly, he did not find the mermaid anywhere, even when he called for her. He didn't let disappoint get to him as he was sure you'll come later; so in the meantime, he went for a nice swim. The water there didn't crash as hard as it did in the shore. Instead, it felt more like a quiet lake, all just for him to relax as he floated.
Truth to be told, the mermaid was there. She nibbled on the remnants of what was a fish. She waited amusingly for the boy to get closer to the center of the bay, planning to surprise him.
Just as he was starting to get bored of doing nothing, he felt a shocking zap on his side. He instinctively turned to that side wide eyed, not missing the way something emerged from the water behind him and threw itself over him, making him momentarily sink.
When all movement ended, he threw his head back onto the surface only for his eyes to directly meet (e/c) ones, full of joy and playfulness. A smile also made its way to his face as he hugged her tightly.
"You came!"
They almost sink again from the action, making her laugh loudly.
'God her laugh is wonderful.'
He pulled back with a fake pout on his face, making puppy eyes at her.
"That was really mean though. I thought we were over all the zapping thing."
She maintained her smirk as she snorted and raised her eyebrows, as if saying: that didn't hurt and you know it. That made Bachira squeeze her cheeks as he laughed at her attempts to escape his grasp. This was not welcomed by her as she brought her fins closer to sting him yet again. Turns out that, much to his dismay, this would be a common thing between them.
"Hey!"
She quickly went underwater given the opportunity and flicked her tail strongly, making a considerable amount of water to splash at the boy's face. She peeked from the water and chuckled at Bachira's expression.
Their splashing game continued for long. She was obviously winning by far, but that didn't mean it was less fun. She swiftly made a quick turn and Bachira's eyes lighted up like a kid who got candy.
"Wow! Can you do any tricks?"
'Do I look like a scenario dolphin.' She wanted to retort.
Bachira saw right through her snarky gaze and sulked slightly. He was getting good in reading her thoughts thanks to the information on that book.
"Pretty please?" He asked behind clasped hands.
She glanced at his expectant eyes and gave in, taking a moment to think. He watched her dive into the water, but he wasn't prepared for what was about to come. The next thing he knew, her body was flying above his head, having elegantly jumped and her scales shining under the sun. Bachira was nothing but amazed as she came out of the water again, a sheepish smile on her lips.
"Wow... Wow! Do it again, do it again!"
They spent most of their time playing and having fun together without a care in the world. Eventually, their laughs died down and they grew tired. Well, more like she got tired; the boy still had plenty of energy left. Despite that, she finally convinced him to take a rest, swimming to shallow waters. When the water level was knee-high, they came to a stop and sat down. He dropped on his butt and she laid face down, them being in the perfect zone between land and water.
He looked at her as she enjoyed the way the soft waves brushed though her body, carrying cool waves with them. His eyes drifted downwards to her gleaming scales and he felt hypnotized by them. His attention was also caught by the way her fins flowed with the water's movement. But, could you blame him? He's never seen a mermaid this close, let alone befriend one.
"Can I touch your tail?" He smiled.
Her head turned in his direction and the question pondered in her head. Even when it registered in her brain, it still felt strange for her, as no one has ever asked that. Nonetheless, she still complied because she trusted him. Her tail was draped along his lap, startling the boy at first before he drew his hand near in a testing motion and caressed her tail gently. When he got no reaction from it, he continued doing so. Her scales were soft and slippery and her fins felt like nice fabric under his fingers.
A shudder ran down her spine at the nice feeling, legging her muscles relax. No one has ever been this affectionate to her, so this was new. Having nothing to do, she moved around and went to feel his legs as well. After all, she's never touched human legs before either.
When both of their curiosities met at the same time, they found themselves in a rare but nice quiet moment, just enjoying each other's company.
Like that, they spent the morning and soon the clock ticked until noon. Somewhere in between, they went to where you could barely touch the ground with your feet and got to know the other about various things. However, they were interrupted by a distant voice.
"Bachira, we're going to eat! Where are you?"
"Coming!"
He turned around but didn't find the mermaid by his side. Instead, he felt her fins glide through his legs in a way of saying goodbye as she took her leave. Bachira noticed something being placed in his hand and brought it up to inspect it. It was another shell.
Happiness and excitement flowed through his veins as he got further away from the bay, fastening his step to meet with his group. Boy, he was loving this summer vacation.
Tumblr media
Like that, they spent most of the summer time. Between laughs, zaps, and splashes; a month passed and they grew impossibly close. In Bachira's bag stood proudly a pile of shiny shells of all colors and shapes, having kept every single one of them. Sometimes, the boy got her one too just to see the wide smile that would appear on her face. Sneaking out and maneuvering through dense vegetation to meet her became a routine for him, surprisingly not getting caught. The same could be said for her, as she swam through the reef everyday in hopes to see him.
One day, they were playing tag. Bachira cheated from time to time and ran to the dry sand, not wanting to always have it because of her always catching him instantly. Nonetheless, he would eventually come back when she begged for him to do so, promising she would go easy this time. That was a devious lie that he always fell for in one way or another as she jumped on him to tag him the moment he stepped on the water.
One of these times, Bachira deflated and sat on the famous rock in thought, feet still soaking in the bay. The mermaid felt slightly bad as she swam closer, thinking it was because of the game. Despite that, she still wore a victorious smirk that said it all.
'Tired of losing yet?'
"Don't get too full of yourself."
She wanted to laugh but couldn't get herself to do so when she heard the uncharacteristic weak chuckle that left his lips. She looked at him and saw his thoughtful expression, eyes barely duller that usual as they hid a foreign emotion behind them. She started to become worried and crossed her arms above his thighs, resting her head on top to look at him. Bachira snapped out of his trance and started at her. After a few seconds, he squeezed her cheeks with a small smile.
"What's with the long face?"
She was unbothered and reached her index finger to boop his nose.
'You.'
She smiled at the way his eyes crossed to look at her finger then at her, rosy pink covering his cheeks. He let her face go and faked a small smile.
"It's nothing really. Just thinking."
She raised her eyebrows, clearly showing that she didn't buy it. However, he didn't let her insist more as he changed the topic.
"I just noticed I haven't asked you your name!"
Her eyes slightly widened in surprise and she retracted her finger. Well, at least that was something she could say. Bachira heard her literally bubbly voice for the first time as she told him her name.
"(y/n)"
"(n/n)? That's a cute name! I'm Bachira, but you heard it before."
She deadpanned as he didn't understand half of it and said it wrong, but she didn't have the heart correct him seeing the now true, happy smile he wore. It was contagious. She chuckled along him and, when the laughter died down, they were left in complete silence. Bachira fiddled with her hair before parting his lips.
"I have to go back home soon."
So that's what it was. She looked up at him from his lap with an unreadable expression. Moments passed and, when Bachira started to grow anxious, she propped herself up in her arms before giving him a hug. He quickly reciprocated it, hugging her waist close and pulling her out of the water fully to let her sit in a more comfortable position in his lap. Without a word, their embrace tightened. This hug wasn't playful nor lively like the other ones, but it was still as welcoming as ever.
"I'll miss you." He whispered into her wet collarbone as he pressed his head there, which she responded by nuzzling her face on his shoulder.
They sat on the rock enjoying each other's warmth not wanting to separate. Her nose scrunched up when stray hairs tickled her face as they pressed their cheeks together, courtesy of Bachira. Their hearts beat in unison under the blazing sun.
She eventually pulled back after some restriction because of his strong hold. She signaled him to wait with her hands as she dived into the water, disappearing in sight. He began whistling waited for her on the rock, his gaze softening as this moment felt similar to their first interaction ever.
She came back clutching something in her hand, which she placed on his hand that pushed against his chest, the tips of her ears red. He tilted his head and watched her amusedly, but in a blink, she wasn't there anymore. He panicked as he didn't get the chance to say goodbye.
However, that thought was quickly dismissed as he felt something zapping his ankle, making him stand up by reflex. He saw her emerging from the water at the distance before his smile enlarged.
"Will you be here next summer?" He shouted.
She gave him a thumbs up and he responded with a little happy jump. He waved her goodbye, making her raise her hand too. She dived into the colorful reef and swam happily among the fish.
Bachira turned around and trotted in the sand and trough the vegetation. He opened his palm and his face went red, his heart skipping a beat. There sat a beautiful coral of reddish tones. His eyes, wide in realization, squinted closed as he widely smiled. He traveled back home with a happy mind.
'Until next summer, (n/n).'
- Mermaids can also gift a coral, this meaning love and affection. The redder the coral, the more sentimental value it holds.
Tumblr media
I have nothing to say except this was very sweet to write.
I had much more scenarios with a mermaid reader but decided to shorten it for it not to be too long.
I tried 3rd person pov here and I'm having a love-hate relationship with it.
Listen to music often, Lethby ༊*·˚

Hiiiii!!!! Could we get some more headcanons of caregiver!damon + little!stefan with caregiver!dean + little!sam? Specifically Stefan and Sam getting into trouble together and damon and dean having to deal with it? Thank you and I hope you have an amazing rest of your day!
Hey friend! Of course I can! This got a little long haha. Hope you’re doing well! ❤️
Feel free to request headcanons, moodboards, etc!
Tumblr media
The brothers meet while Dean & Sam are hunting a case in Mystic Falls. In order to keep them off the wrong vampires’ tails, Damon & Stefan offer to help.
Dean & Sam learn who they are, but the more time they spend in Mystic Falls, the more they realize that vampire =\= bad as a rule. Some are monsters, but some are just regular people who can control themselves.
Dean & Damon bond over their love of cars.
Sam & Stefan enjoy correcting MFHS’ dated history books.
Dean & Sam can’t stay in one place for long, but they agree to visit the Salvatore brothers a few times a year.
Dean is much more protective than Damon is. If Sam gets one scratch, he’s acting like he needs a transfusion. Damon is constantly telling him to calm down, though really, he’s still pretty protective of Stefan.
Stefan & Sam are allowed to go out alone once. They end up staying out late trying to catch the latest threat to Mystic Falls. Luckily, Damon & Dean show up in time.
The two are grounded and have all electronics taken away.
When Stefan & Sam regress, they love to play outside together! They run around for hours before wearing each other out.
While Damon sets up the guest rooms for the Winchesters when they visit, Sam & Stefan end up sharing a bed because they love having sleepovers.
Dean gives the boys more sugar and junk food than Damon likes. The first thing Stefan always asks him is “Can I have candy?!”
When the boys are restless and can’t sleep, Dean takes them for a ride in the impala. They knock out right away.
Stefan often tries to sneak off with Sam to show him how he hunts but they’re always caught. It lands them in time out.
When the boys get in trouble, they always try to barter that the other shouldn’t because it was their idea to begin with. Dean & Damon find it sweet.
Dean constantly asks Damon to join their demon hunting business but he always says no. He doesn’t want to raise Stefan on the road. But he doesn’t judge Dean for keeping it up with Sam.
Stefan and Sam take turns watching their favorite movies, “Scooby Doo” (Sam) and “Cinderella” (Stefan).
The first time Sam hurts Stefan’s feelings is when he says “Cinderella” is for girls. He gets very worked up about it.
At first Dean defends Sam but after Damon talks to him about it, both of the Winchesters learn a valuable lesson.
Sam agrees to watch a few princess movies and soon realizes his favorite is “The Little Mermaid”.
Sam & Stefan write letters when they’re feeling big. When they’re feeling small, Dean & Damon help them FaceTime.
There are a few rough nights when Dean & Damon will call each other to vent. They often do this when their brothers say something they don’t realize is hurtful or they get a little ungrateful. It helps them from saying the wrong things to their brothers.
Stefan & Sam only trust their favorite comfort items (Stefan’s bunny and Sam’s moose) with one another.
Damon gets back at Dean for the candy thing by giving Sam the loudest, most obnoxious toys. His personal favorite is a toy drum.
Damon calls Sam “Sammy” all of one time and nearly gets his head bit off. Something similar happens when Dean tries to call Stefan “Stef”.
Damon & Dean will babysit so one of them can go on a date.
At one point, Damon offers to turn Dean & Sam, pointing out they could chase monsters for eternity. They turn him down, saying at one point they want to be able to live a normal life. Damon respects it.

NGL but...
Since this month is MerMay (I was hoping to draw Mermaid!Mothra, but I'm running out of time 😭), I have a crazy idea running my mind...
P.S. This might be the most funniest (shittiest) Kongzilla fic IDK why I should pull this...🙃
So it starts here...
What if after Godzilla consumes a lot of Tiamat's radiation on her lair and after a battle between the icy grandma and the bald tyrant son-of-a-bitch together with Kong on his side and went home to his coliseum to sleep, he woke up the next day finding his lower half of his own body is replaced by Tiamat's other half of her body?!?!
Now I imagine himself struggling to get up, even destroying half of the human population and the buildings before he managed to reach the sea and swims deeper and guess what? HE FUCKING SWEARS FOR ABOUT WHOLE HOURS.
Tiamat's (and even Scylla's) spirit is seen laughing her (their) ass off because she believes that Tiamat's lair might have laid "a curse" on his act for handing over her lair and the radiation reserves, and an attempt murder yeeesh. Godzilla can't sense because they were dead duh.
Then Godzilla travels back to his old home and goes into one of the Hollow Earth's portal in order to stop this "abominational curse".
Once there, he met Suko while on a hunting trip looking for food. The little ape was flabbergast yet he even laughed at him before Godzilla threatens him to incinerate or his kind, so Suko reluctantly guides the King of the Monsters to the newly built place for the Great Apes where Kong - now King Kong - is their new leader.
Once there, Kong was shocked to see him in his "not so normal state". Most of the Apes are seen snickering while others cannot hold on their laughters, and a few were scared because of his past actions that happened during the war of his and Skar King's history.
While even Kong cannot help but feel empathy of his former-enemy-turned-friend, he decided to seek Mothra out for help. He leaves his kind behind with only Suko and Shimo to guard them down while the two are travelling miles away.
There will be some scenes like Godzilla 'trips' himself right in front of Kong's chest, and Kong was like "WTF bro?! Why're you looking at me?!"; the two eating from their meals they had just hunting down and when their hands touched one another from trying to get that food, they stared like few minutes before breaking their sight out; Kong soothing Godzilla down after having nightmares of his father's death from the MUTOs; both talking about their lives from worse to better; friendship stronger; Godzilla admiring the Hollow Earth and how Mothra had fully evolved into her Rebirth form; etc.
Slowburn Kongzilla was there...
As the two reached from the Iwi borders, Mothra appears to them in the crystal-like temple (Jia, Ilene Andrews, the Iwi Queen, Trapper and Bernie were there; and I cannot imagine about them were flabbergasted about Godzilla's sudden appearance). Godzilla was happy to see her, and Mothra reveals that Tiamat's power has something to do with his form changing. The only way to break out this abominational curse is to "profess your former enemy's self-hatred."
Well, Godzilla already knew that, he cannot but least he told Mothra that he loved her very much, and the moth half-jokingly tells him he is BISEXUAL, I swear Godzilla dislikes that because he is a STRAIGHT MAN, but Mothra knew it otherwise because she can read his mind.
So anyway, Godzilla leaves, but Kong and Mothra follows him. Then there will be arguments, and Godzilla finally had enough. He confessed his feelings for Kong, and Kong was stood still in silence, but he feared about the Queen of the Monsters and Defender of the Iwi Tribe will beat him. However, Mothra never shows anger, but was simply proud about regaining their friendship and allied one another, most of all, feelings~
So the two male Alphas held their hands each other, finally professing their love...and THEY KISS~
...And Godzilla woke up with a loud scream, finding himself back to his cozy 'bed'. Mothra was there cuddling to her husband and just woke up from his scream. Then the King checks himself and his body, only to find out he's back to his normal body. He is happy yet scared about that shit until his wife calms him down, saying it's just a dream and nothing else. Godzilla couldn't help but feels his guts wanted to vomit out butterflies all because he will NEVER EVER gonna accept the fact about his relationship to Kong...
When Mothra falls asleep, Godzilla couldn't help but feels something was off to his matters.
"...Maybe this dream wasn't so real after all...or Kong's not really bad too."
THAT'S ALL FOR KONGZILLA SHORT FIC. 🤫

I would like to understand why people are pretending that the live-action Little Mermaid is going to be good when it's another terrible remake that will misinterpret and butcher the story and moral of the original like the 900 other remakes. Like, I swear there are people on Twitter making this movie their whole personality when it doesn't even look good. After Avatar, you'd think Disney would really devote money to make the water effects look impressive, but nope.
I don't really care if Arial is black, either. Disney did fuck all to defend Halle Baily from the wave racism she experienced (I believe Freeform spoke out back in 2019 and some cast members defended her, but it wasn't enough). Also, reading the behind-the-scenes, it seems like Halle was exploited on set and forced to work beyond her limits. Putting an actor in water for 13 hours a day is dangerous and not something that should be framed as resilient. It would be nice if people stopped acting as if the live-action Little Mermaid is something groundbreaking for Black women and girls when it's clearly just Disney trying to cash on diversity at our expense. They don't actually care about supporting us, based on how they treated their leading lady.
We need to stop supporting these creatively bankrupt pieces of shit. Look at the Lilo & Sitch casting, they clearly don't care honouring POC stories or valuing actors of colour. The Mulan remake was literally filmed within view of Chinese concentration camps and stared an actress who supported Chinese police brutalizing Hong Kong protesters. A lot of people like to pretend that people only have issues with The Little Mermaid, but it's a problem with all of these movies in general. It seems to be more of an issue with Disney as a company, not the actual people working on these films.
Like, I saw the live-action Lion King in theaters and now my sister wants to see this, too. Like, I genuinely think these films are bad on principle.

Hi! Can you write a hange x fem!reader canon au where the reader is a god disguised as a human after having her powers stripped and being banished from her home as a god because she defended humanity after watching them progress as a species and falling in love with them as a whole and hange helps her get used to life as a human and interacting with people and they fall in love through that .Basically a little mermaid situation with hange as Eric and the reader as Ariel!
Tumblr media
New life
Pairing: Hange x fem!reader
Genre and tags: Future AU, romance, falling in love, fluff, cute, sweet, becoming a couple, reader has powers.
Concept: You are found after falling from grace. You're captured and looked at by scientists, but one takes special notice of you. Hange looks after you and teaches you a few things about human life while you educate them about your world. Soon you're showing Hange the magical things you can do and the two of you fall in love.
Tagging only @skittlelover69 because I know she loves Hange.
Tumblr media
You sat in a large dome made of some sort of glass. You eyed the people outside and saw a brunette with glasses waving at you with a lot of enthusiasm. You blushed as they ran over with others shouting at them. They stumbled into your room making you back up from them.
Hange knelt down and put down drinks and food. "For you."
You stared at it before crawling closer. You grabbed the drink and sipped it. You then shoved the food into your mouth and ate. You thanked them in your own native tongue, but they just stared at you. You stared back and felt yourself blushing hard.
You gulped as you gazed at an apple slice with a seed. "Thank...you."
Hange smiled softly. "Tell me about you, where you came from and what you are."
You stared at Hange for a while before they were wrapped up in vines, the door locked up as the whole dome turned into a nature biome with Hange in the middle. You jumped and landed on a large flower and let it lift you until you were facing hange. You sat down on the flower and released a long sigh.
Hange looked around them with a grin on their face. "Wow! You are incredible."
You smiled at Hange. "I was the God of nature, but I was cast out."
"Why?"
You held your hand out as a vine wrapped up your arm and bloomed a flower in your palm. "I watched humans too much. I liked humans too much. I love everything about you. I love how strong you all are and are willing to learn. I was told my love was wrong and misplaced. I refused to abandon you all. So, I was told if I love them so much then I should live with you."
Hange grinned. "I think you and I will get on really well."
You smiled a little at Hange. "You have nice energy. I like you."
You and Hange would talk for hours about your different worlds. The more you talked to Hange, the more you felt hope in your heart that living in the human world would be better. They made you smile, laugh and feel special. You tried your best to impress Hange with different things to get their attention.
Hange sighed. "So, do you think" they chased after you as you made a large tree for the scientists in their outdoor garden "that the environment is going bad because you were sent away?"
You smiled at the happy people. "Being up there, I could keep an eye on everything. Being down here, I do not have the reach I had before." You turned to Hange. "They probably put a God in my place and they'll do a terrible job and I'll be forgiven and brought back, so for now the world will suffer a little. However, I will make a paradise here for you." You cupped Hange's face. "I'll keep you safe."
Hange blushed. "Thank you."
You pulled them down and kissed their forehead. "I have something to show you." You walked over to a little garden. "This collection of plants could help you with a lot of medical issues. They're my gift to you."
"This...this is amazing. This can change lives."
You blushed a little. "We had to keep a lot secret from humans, but now I'm with you all you can have it."
Hange walked up to you before yanking you into a tight hug. "Thank you."
You blushed at being held. "Ah, umm...you're welcome..." You hugged Hange back and felt your cheeks burning with a blush. "This is nice. Thank you."
Hange pulled back and grinned. "Hugs are the best."
You hummed in agreement. "Yes."
You followed Hange around after the hug, your heart racing. You enjoyed being with them and felt yourself watching them as much as possible. Soon you played with them and had fun together. You made them laugh as much as possible.
You ran with Hange and danced around with them. You jumped off a cliff with them and bounced from plant to plant together until you landed side by side.
You hummed a laugh and locked eyes with them. "So?"
Hange smiled. "I loved that. Thank you."
You blushed a little. "I'm glad." You sat up and looked down at Hange. "Forgive me if what I'm about to do upsets you, but I am compelled to do so." You leaned down and kissed Hange. "My heart speaks your name."
Hange tangled their fingers in your hair before pulling you down for a kiss. "Mine speaks yours."
You smirked at them. "Then we feel the same."
"We do."
You snuggled up to them. "I am glad."
Hange held you. "If the Gods ask you to go back, will you?"
"I'm not going anywhere without you, I promise."

Toku Tuesday 46 - Stephen Chow (周星馳)
Hi friends. Welcome back to Toku Tuesday.
I’m not going to write a huge amount tonight because I’m still pretty numb from losing Fall. But, in the interests of spending time with people and having something light-hearted, tonight if you would join me we’ll be watching some of the films of Stephen Chow/周星馳 (Jāu Sīngchìh) - WP says ‘Stephen Chow’ is his ‘professional’ name so let’s go with that...
youtube
Chow was born in Hong Kong in 1962, so during the long period of British occupation (c.f. TT #32). Imspired by Bruce Lee’s The Big Boss (1971) to aspire to martial arts stardom, he went straight into broadcaster TVB’s acting school straight out of secondary school, worked his way up from being an extra to presenting an astronomy program, and eventually got his break to star in over 40 films starting from Final Justice (1988), becoming one of the major martial arts stars of the 90s.
But we’re not here to talk about his acting! Because as a director, Stephen Chow is known for quite a particular thing: effects-heavy kung fu comedies such as Shaolin Soccer (少林足球, 2001) and especially Kung Fu Hustle (功夫, Kung Fu, 2004). These films are remarkable for being live action that feels a lot like highly stylised animation in its sense of timing and 2D composition.
Let’s not pigeonhole him too narrowly though! Look it up and you find that Chow’s got a pretty long list of director credits, starting with James Bond parody From Beijing With Love (國產凌凌漆, The Domestically Produced 007, 1994) about an 007-like spy defending China from a which ironically ended up banned by the CCP for its depiction of corruption; continuing with Forbidden City Cop (大內密探零零發 Imperial Secret Agent 008) and The God of Cookery (食神) both in 1996, and King of Comedy (喜劇之王) in 1999.
Tumblr media
All of these movies star Chow himself, and it sounds like they tend to be heavy on the Cantonese puns. The God of Cookery for example stars a character whose name has the same pronunciation as Stephen Chow’s, but different characters. Perhaps because this proved a little hard to translate, they were popular in China but it would be Shaolin Soccer that got wildly popular abroad, perhaps because its premise is very clear and funny (a Shaolin monk plays football shot like supernatural martial arts) and that was enough of a hook to get people in where they could enjoy Chow’s excellent editing and visual humour - plus as I recall you don’t really need to know shit about football. Same went for Kung Fu Hustle, which can be easily approached as a kind of parody of kung fu and gangster movies, although it works because it succeeds very well as a kung fu movie. (Someone with more literacy in the genre could probably write a more thorough account of its influences and specific allusions... alas that is not me tonight.)
And since then, what’s Chow been up to? C7J (長江七號) (2008) was the last one in which Chow acts as well as directs, following a construction worker’s son adopting an alien - kind of ET-like premise. It proved rather less accessible to the critics, but I’d very much like to track it down because it sounds pretty fascinating. Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons ( 西遊·降魔篇)(2013) was described to me by @mogsk as a really fun take on the story of Saiyuki; The Mermaid (美人鱼, 2016) is a romantic comedy with the amazing premise of a mermaid assassin. I definitely plan to get all of those movies on a future Toku Tuesday.
Tonight the plan is to do something light-hearted and watch Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. We’ll be starting in about half an hour so please come in to twitch.tv/canmom and get comfortable!

HEYYYYY THIS ANON IS BACK WITH MORE PARTS TO THIS AU (this is long)
#5.2 (the mermaid au)
About Kou and Tsukasa:
Since they were turned in the same year and as I said they became friends. But the thing is they are more than friends (not in a romantic sense, don't get the wrong idea lol). They are very co-dependant on each other. Because they could relate to each other a lot. "You have a good big brother? ME TOO!" And their both more reckless and childish traits. And on top of those, them both being turned mermaid at the same time. At first Kou was really iffy about Tsukasa but after having all of their classes together (you know, because Nene is only one mermaid and can only be at one place at a time) a friendship bloomed. But that friendship turned to where they would not go to places without each other. But besides the codependency they have a healthy relationship. They are very close and if some got in trouble the other would be there defending his ass like his life depended on it. They be besties friends <3
Kou would try a lot to try and convince Nene to let him go see his brother, even if it was from afar. Until he realized he would not be able to see his brother again he had a whole breakdown while Tsukasa comforted him. Tsukasa was not the best at it but it was the thought that counted. After a little bit he'd start asking Nene again to at least she'd go check on Teru-nii for him but was once again disappointed once she said she couldn't.
Tsukasa after observing Kou ask Nene multiple times he decided he would not try asking. But as he and the little minamoto got closer he came up with this idea to try and run away to the surface world. Kou was against it at first until maybe a week or two later Tsukasa was awoken by him one night and there they make a book for it. They both shared a big house, that was kinda like a group home but with actually bedrooms. And when they manage to get out of the house (that big house was for turned mermaids to settle in) they somehow also got out of the city without getting caught. And as they were just swimming up they would talk about their how their life was when they were human and how good their brothers were. But after what seemed like hours they noticed a mermaid ahead of them. They thought it might be a mermaid from a different town or so but once they got closer they were met with... Nene floating there with her arms crossed, looking umimpressed. Akane was beside her as she had seaweed tying them together so he would not try and swim away (that was the one and only time she did that, he just kept on threatening to run away and because she was already worried about Tsukasa and Kou she did that. That thing made Akane laugh so it was all good). They were both in trouble and moved to the castle so they would not try to run away again. Tsukasa whinnied and cried about this while Kou would chuckle nervously.
While in the castle to calm Kou's nerves because he was getting really really anxious even with Tsu by his side so Nene had him help her make food for Akane in the morning (by the way Nene is the only one allowed to make food for Akane besides his parents because Akamom didn't turst anyone else to make food for him in fear of someone trying to poison him.). That really did help especially because Kou loved cooking. Tsukasa was just there for the show.
Lil Minamoto after settling in school and his room (that he shared with tsukasa) he did end up developing a crush on Yashiro. Because she was so kind and always made sure they were happy. And she has a cute smile! Tsukasa was the first to find out and teased him about it while he tried to deny it.
BUT LEMON MY BOY,
He's not a mermaid nor is he part of Teru's crew.
He use to go to school with Tsukasa and Amane and when Tsukasa passed away he thought Amane went crazy when he said he was murdered by mermaids. He didn't voice he thoughts but decided to stay away from him as he grieved. They weren't really friends because no one wanted to be friends with a delinquent looking guy such as himself. I'll explain more about his part in the story but right now I have to add in more to the humans.
As I said Teru's crew are mermaid hunters. And that the Minamotos are mermaid hunters. But the Minamoto's only became mermaid hunters after Kou 'died'. Mermaids to the general public are extinct species. There was proof tons of years ago that mermaids existed but no one has seen one in lots of years (other than the crew). The father was the first one to say it was mermaids that killed the mother three years before Kou but lots of people thought he was kinda delusional, Teru included but after he say his little brother drowned he believed him.
The crew's main goal is to kill mermaids but because of weather, other pirates, and other inconvenience causes money to do repair to the ship and because they aren't rich they had to resort to stealing hence them getting wanted.
Magic does exist in the world but only to those who are 'blessed' (or what other's would call cursed). Some come in forms of weapons while others come in form of just normal house objects or you came just do it without a weapon. The Minamotos were blessed generations ago with the ability of electricity. Why were they blessed and by who? Well there are these two morals. They both controls time. One can make you age so fast while the other one can turn back time. They have been around since the very beginning of magic. They have the ability to give a blessing to people or families BUT only if they have a third party member in little group. One who controls the present. They would usually get a human who only lives x amount of time for they are the present (but it only seemed like they didn't live very long for some reason....). So the third on always ends up getting replaced. Their names where the clock keepers. They had no real human name. They blessed the Minamotos years ago one of them saved Mirai when she came down with a sick illness (like that one sickness when Hanako got sick in the manga. I think it was either in one of the extras or in After School Hanako-kun). They didn't know it was a clock keeper. Kako then blessed them with the help of Mirai and a random present person for their kindness.
Teru's blessing comes in the object of his sword which is very great because he's a pirate. Kou's came in the shape of his staff and Tiara having the ability to just use it with her bare hands.
The rest of his crew also have blessings. Mitsuba has an ability to to teleport through objects that have a reflection. Something that you can look at and see yourself in (ex. mirrors, when the water is clear, etc.). He'd sometimes as Teru is checking his mirror, pop out of it and say, "Um... I think you need to straighten out your collar." He was banned from teleporting into the sleeping quarters. He can't teleport if it is out of his radius. Amane's ability comes in two little hako-joudai. Actually he has two hako-joudai in between him and his little brother but after Tsukasa died one of them 'disappeared' which left him broken. He thought that at least if he had Tsukasa's Hako-joudai that he'd still have a little part of him with him. Aoi is the only one who doesn't have a magic ability. All she has is her dagger. She's like Yor from Spy x Family. She's a badass who kicks ass and doesn't take shit.
Out of all the crew Aoi-chan is the one with the most kill count. You know, because they have to steal and fight to get money and all that. (And they also do commissions to obtain money). If someone gets in her way she'll beat the shit out of them and probably end up killing them too. Mitsuba has the lowest kill count. Mainly because one; He can't handle blood and two, he can just teleport away. Teru tries to sweet talk his way out of a fight but if it doesn't work he'll end up killing them which makes him come in second for highest kill count. Amane threatens the person and if it doesn't work he just knock them out and sometimes ends up killing them but he'd rather not.
AND NOW BACK TO LEMON:
He works with Yako, Tsuchigomori and Mei (and other random people) who are basically police. They search for wanted criminals. Tsuchigomori has an ability where he can see the future with is why Yako hates him. She's like, "You stupid spider! You can see in the FUTURE so why CAN'T you just look into your little book and tell us where those stupid kids are?!" And he just responds with, "It doesn't work that way." And she would glare, "That's why you won't get a wife even your book said so." He only said he won't get a wife because when he looked at his own future his future wife would be Yako... so lol. Yako has the ability to turn into a fox while Mei can draw and make it become real. Lemon has no real magic abilities other than him being able to make inventions. He had a small little rectangle that he could do a lot of things on and called it a phone. He made some to for his co-workers so they can contact each other quickly if a crime scene happens and someone is needed.
They play more an antagonistic role for the fact that they are against our main characters.
And now going back to the clock keepers.
Mirai was getting upset about always recruiting new people just to have them die in the end after only a few years. Kako ignored her at first until it to started to bother him. It seemed as if humans where to weak to handle the power to stop time. So they went and recruited a mermaid. But it was the same result as always.
One day as they were chilling at the beach in a tree they saw two little kids. The little girl seemed to try dragging the orange boy into the salty ocean to swim as he objected continuously. Mirai saw a little mermaid in the distance and fast forwarded time so that a wave would form by how fast it was coming in. The little kids didn't seem to notice it at all and the little boy pulls out of her grasp and started making his way back to the towel and umbrella. The girl had crossed her arm and yelled at him while feeling hurt. Then BOOM! Akane had turned around quickly with wide eyes as Aoi was grabbed by clawed hands from the wave.
'At that moment... he wished harder than he ever had in all his 12 years of life... Stop. Stop! STOP! STOP!!!'
"Hello boy. Do you want the power to control time?"
And he agreed. Becoming part of the clock keepers and holds the medal for holding the role longer than anyone before him.
They swapped their spots as time was frozen so it looked like Aoi was the one running away from the wave as Akane was in Aoi's place. And when time started again Aoi stared wide eye as Akane was grabbed from the ground by the mermaid and pulled into the water.
... How have you been doing? And I'm sorry if this is sent in twice and not being proofread.

Ticklish Princes 4
“So your people are entirely vegetarian? That explains Ariel’s aversion to meats!”
“You sound surprised. The sea, and its denizens are my people, or does your kind eat one other?”
Eric tried to quell his frustration. His father-in-law might have allowed Ariel to marry him for her happiness but this dinner made clear that Daddy Dearest still didn’t like his son-in-law. The entire meal had consisted of Eric trying to make conversation and King Triton not even trying to play nice.
He’s in this mess because Ariel wanted to see the men she loves most get along and so arranged for her husband and father to share a private dinner. In theory Eric loved the plan; he wanted to get along with Triton if only for Ariel’s sake but the King seemed to have other ideas. Eric tried to engage him on topics of politics, that was a disaster, culture, which went worse and now dietary habits, two hours into this meal and it couldn’t end soon enough for Eric.
He lapses back into the painful silence when Triton speaks, his first time initiating instead of responding, “I have one question for you Eric.”
“What is it? I’ll try my best to answer it.” He hopes he doesn’t sound too eager, somehow he doesn’t think that will gain him any favor with Triton.
“Why is it your people insist on covering up all the time? Do you all feel embarrassed to be seen a little exposed?”
It takes Eric a minute to realize that Triton is talking about his clothes. He gets the feeling that no matter what he says or how he says it this won’t go well for him. Well, dinner has been a disaster from the beginning, might as well face it head on, then he can’t be accused of being a coward.
“The world above the water is rough, wind, sun, rain, all of them can be dangerous in the right conditions. Our clothes aren’t much but at least it’s some protection.”
The snort lets him know his assumption was correct. All well, better to try and fail than to never try at all.
“I can’t believe my daughter married such a delicate man. Or maybe this sort of thinking is common to all the men up here.” The disdain in his voice is audible.
Eric feels a flush creeping up his neck and his need to defend himself outweighs his common sense. “I am not *delicate* Ariel understands the need for clothes now that she’s living above the water.”
Another snort. “I doubt that boy.”
Something about being called boy gets under his skin more than it should and he’s about to reply when Triton beats him to the punch.
“How about you prove to me you aren’t, unless you’re afraid to find out the truth.”
“Alright old man what do you have in mind?”
“Come over here and I’ll show you.”
Eric comes where Triton beckoned him. In order for a human and merman to dine together there had to be a rather creative setting. In this case a platform floating near the beach carrying a table set with the food. Eric sat at one side, which was in water so shallow it barely comes past his knees. Triton, for his part is at the other side where the water was deep enough for him to remain submerged past his tail. He now motions for Eric to join him on his side of the table and Eric does so, determined to prove his wife’s father wrong on all his assumptions.
Once he’s there though, Triton reveals his true plan and strips Eric’s shirt off with ease. The man blushes and growls angrily, “What are you doing?”
“Just getting you ready to see how thin skinned you are.” The haughty tone only serves to make him angrier. “Keep those, what do you call them, pants, to protect your dignity, mermaids cover their tops so I won’t begrudge you covering your bottom, the other things can go though.” Eric realizes he means his boots and obliges, removing his socks after a rude prompting.
Triton bids him to enter the water which Eric does. He’s a strong swimmer, when there isn’t a storm, and though he knows he can’t compete with a man who is half fish, he’s confident to tread water for a bit. “Well what now?” He asks impatiently and the smirk that appears on Triton’s face infuriates him.
“Just a moment, I’ve never met someone so eager to learn their own weakness.”
Eric is about to snap back when he feels something brush against his side. The sensation catches him off guard and he looks into the water to find it was a fish, one of many coming. They all take turns rubbing against him. His sides, belly, ribs and chest all receive the treatment and after the first few passes he bursts out laughing. He hates himself for it too, this must have been what Triton planned from the beginning and Eric feel for it hook, line and sinker.
    “HaHAHehAHEHaheHAHEhahAHE!”
The sensation gets worse too, the more fish that rub against him the more ticklish he seems to become, it’s like they’re leaving slimy trails on him that make him more sensitive to the touch. Not only does that make it worse but several find their way to his armpits. These fish are different, once they get below his outstretched arms, they spread long, thin and delicate fins from their backs, which find their ways into his exposed hollows. The only benefit here is that these don’t seem to get worse but that’s a poor consolation since his armpits were terrible to begin with.
One particularly cruel fish finds its way into his belly button. It’s tiny and frilly and those frills wreak havoc all over his sensitive skin. They almost feel like dozens of mini feathers and then the fish starts to turn in circles which means the frilly fins are spinning inside his poor belly button.
He isn’t even surprised when his bare and thrashing feet come under attack. Tiny fish start to rub against them. Worse yet, they’re so small they fit easily between his toes...which they do.
“I should have assumed by your need to keep them doubly wrapped that these strange appantages would be even worse than the rest of you.”
Triton must be referring to wearing socks and boots but Eric isn’t really looking to pick apart the insults.
Throughout all of this the only reason he isn’t in danger of drowning is because all his body’s natural struggling from the tickling makes up for the fact that he isn’t intentionally treading water. However it is much more exhausting and he doesn’t know he’s spent until he realizes the terrible tickling is over. Triton must have called off his fishy attackers while Eric wasn’t paying attention.
Before he as time to appreciate not being tickled though, it starts up again. This time the water itself seems to be doing it. It’s as if it has a mind of its own, and worse still it acts like other hands. Excruciating is the word that comes to mind, as he feels finger like watery masses dance across his sides and belly, one dips into his belly button and wiggles around and other play in his armpits. Two also target his feet and get under and between his toes. In all he doesn’t remember a time he’s been tickled so badly!
He hauls himself back on the raft and lays back panting. He expects to hear gloating from the Sea King. Instead he gets silence. Thinking he’s messed up so badly the merman won’t even speak to him he sits up and looks at the towering figure, who appears deep in thought.
“I...expected you to give up. Immediately actually. You see Ariel mentioned your human notion of ‘tickling’ to me and that you in particular exhibit this strange sensitivity immensely. She also said that you couldn’t stand it so I thought I would use it against you. Except that you resisted it.”
Triton pauses and continues to look at him deep in contemplation before finally admitting, “Perhaps I was wrong about you. There is strength in this oddity, at least strength in resisting it. Of you will accept my apology for my earlier crudeness I think I would very much like to start over.”
Luckily even though his head is spinning from the shock, Eric manages some sort of dignified affirmation of this sentiment.
He isn’t sure how but the rest of the meal, which isn’t much thankfully passes in a calmer silence and the King bids him goodnight only after exacting a promise to do this again. Eric agrees but hopes he means the dinner not the tickling. Still, if it makes the man happy that will make Ariel happy and in turn Eric happy, so he could put up with it again if he has to.
