In this tutorial, I want to show you how to set up and run the ESP32-CAM with a small example.

Buy an ESP32-CAM

The ESP32-CAM for this tutorial I bought via ebay.de for just under €8 incl. shipping costs. You can get this microcontroller at aliexpress.com or also banggood.com for a much cheaper price, but these portals are not the most reliable and my experience has shown that it is a big gamble whether the parts arrive at all or intact.

Connection and circuit

As already mentioned, an FTDI module is required.

FTDI Modul Since we want to operate the ESP32-CAM via 5V, we have to set the jumper on the FTDI module to 5V additionally.

In the window of the board manager is now searched for the term "esp32" (1), there should be exactly one hit, which we install with the button "Install" (2). After the driver has been installed (this can take some time depending on the internet & computer speed of the computer) we can close this window with the button "Close" (3).

Arduino IDE - board manager, install ESP32 Although I have a 50Mbit line, the download of the approx. 32 MB package took an unusually long time, so please allow a little more time for this process. Setting up the board in the Arduino IDE If you have installed the board driver now, you have to select it and change some default values.

Configuration of the microcontroller ESP32-CAM in the Arduino IDE Upload the example from the ESP32 package The ESP32 package comes with an example for the ESP32 - CAM, if you don't have it you can download it for free from the GitHub repository espressif/arduino-esp32. Alternatively I offer you a ready configured sketch at the end of this post. Once you have uploaded this example, you will need to restart it once. This restart can be done either by using the reset button or by removing the power supply and plugging it in again. In the serial monitor of the Arduino IDE you can see the following output.

When the process is complete, then the connection to the Wi-Fi network is established and the IP address of the ESP32-CAM module is displayed.

Web page in the browser of the ESP32-CAM Streaming with VLC player The free VLC player is a true all-rounder when it comes to playing multimedia files. It can also open and play network streams. I have already presented this for the Raspberry PI Camera B01 and now I would like to show it for this ESP32-CAM. The address for the stream is http://:81/stream, you can either read the IP address from your router or from the serial monitor of the Arduino IDE. In the VLC Player navigate to the main menu "Media" > "Open Network Stream…" to start the dialog "Open Media". In this dialog you have to enter the address shown above (of course with your IP address), in my case it is "http://192.168.178.51:81/stream".

Taking a picture You can also get a single picture from the active ESP32-CAM, just end the address with "/capture" instead of "/stream". A photo is now taken and displayed for 10 seconds.

Hand Pies

(Includes small, snackable pies!)

“The variety [of hand pies] presented below, made famous at Cuttle’s Meat Pies located in Waterdeep’s Trades Ward, is flavored with bacon and leeks and is extremely popular across the Heartlands, the Dales, and even the Savage Coast of Faerun, where hungry adventurers simply can’t get enough of them.” - Heroes’ Feast, p. 21

I think we can all agree that pie is one of the best foods ever (take that cake lovers). But, why should its awesomeness only extend to fruit, pudding, or whatever olden times had going on?

The Hand Pies in Heroes’ Feast are a great, filling meal to close to a long day. Packed with awesome carbs, proteins, and spices, they’re hard to resist!

I was really interested to see if there was a way to turn the traditional, larger pies into snackable finger foods that could be brought to school or made for a party. After a little bit of testing, I found that they could! Since my main goal for this post was to create the snackable ones, I will be incorporating my process into the main body of my review instead of just keeping it to the notes after each step.

Although not the fastest meal to make, there are several ways to speed up the process and give yourself less work!

For the ingredients:

6 slices thick-cut bacon*

1 large (about 8 ounces) Yukon gold potato, peeled and cut into ½-inch pieces

2 leeks, white and light green parts, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced

1 tbsp. (3 g) finely chopped fresh thyme

Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

4 cloves garlic, finely chopped

1 pound (500 g) ground beef**

2 tbsp. (16 g) all-purpose flour

⅔ cup (160 ml) low-sodium chicken broth

¼ cup (60 ml) chopped fresh parsley

Pastry for 2 double-crust pies (about 1 ½ pounds), thawed if frozen

1 egg

Ketchup, grainy mustard, or steak sauce to serve (optional)

* I couldn’t find any thick-cut bacon at my grocery store, so I used double the amount of regular cut bacon instead.

** I used medium ground beef.

Preparing the Filling:

I cooked the regular cut bacon in batches in order to avoid crowding the pan. Because I was using thinner bacon, I had to cook the bacon all the way until crispy instead of just slightly browned.

I didn’t have enough rendered fat after cooking for the 2 ½ tbps. required in the next steps. To make up for it, I supplemented the missing amount with a neutral-tasting oil (like vegetable, canola, safflower, and grapeseed).

For the vegetable mixture, I first cooked the potatoes in 1 ½ tbps. of the reserved fat over medium-high heat. This took about 7 minutes, stirring frequently (above-left image).

Next, I added 1 tbsp. reserved fat, leeks, thyme, and ½ tsp. salt to the potatoes and cooked them for about 4 minutes. Then, I added the garlic and stirred it in until fragrant - about 1 minute.

Finally, I transferred it to a bowl, wiped out the pan, and returned it to medium-high heat.

For the beef mixture, I cooked the ground beef until it started to lose its pink colour (4-5 mins). You want to make sure you’re breaking up any large clumps as it cooks.

Next, I turned down the heat to medium and added the flour, stirring constantly for 1-2 minutes. After, I added the broth and ¾ tsp. salt, scraping the skillet to dissolve anything that got stuck to the bottom. The above-right image is what the beef mixture looked like after cooking it for 2 minutes. It shouldn’t be super liquidy.

Above is what the hand pie mixture looked like when I combined the vegetable and meat mixtures. After combining, I allowed the mixture to cool for about 20 minutes (barely warm).

When the mixture cooled, I incorporated the crumbled bacon and parsley. Finally, I covered it with cling wrap and put it in the fridge.

NOTE: To adjust the seasoning at this point, I would recommend only using pepper. I found the mixture was plenty salty.

Constructing the Pies:

First, I preheated the oven to 375℉ and lined two baking sheets with parchment paper. You could also use nonstick silicone liners.

Since I was using a homemade pie crust, I divided my dough into quarters then rolled them out on a lightly floured work surface until I could see the surface through the dough. I lightly floured the top of the dough and my rolling pin to keep the dough from sticking to it. Follow the same method if using store-bought dough.

To prevent the dough from breaking while chilled: start by rolling it out a little in one direction, rotate 90°, roll it out a little, and repeat. This way, you’re not just stretching the dough in one direction.

As you work with the dough, try not to let it get too warm! The chilled butter is what gives the pie crust a flaky texture. If you feel the dough start to warm up too much as you work with it, cover it with a clean, damp kitchen or damp paper towel and place it in the fridge for a few minutes before continuing.

If you notice any tears appear while you roll out the dough, overlap a bit of the dough in that area and roll over it using the rolling pin. If the tear is too large to do this, patch it up with some dough scraps and roll over it to seal it.

To create envelopes for the filling, I used a stencil to create 10 by 8-inch ovals for the large ones and used a ~3 ¾-inch diameter circular cookie cutter.

From my dough, I was able to get two large pies and 15 smaller ones (not using all the dough scraps will net you about 12).

NOTE: A bench scraper and/or a thin metal spatula is your friend while working with the dough. To make the pies easier to fold and transfer, make sure to go around and lift up all of the dough from the work surface.

For the large pies, I placed one cup of filling on the bottom third of the dough and left ~1 ½ inches for the border (above-left).

For the small pies, there are a few changes I would make with how I constructed them (above-right). Although using only a ½ tbsp. of filling made them easier to handle, you should absolutely use between ¾-1 tbs. instead. You may not get as clean of a seam, but it will help the pies stay juicy and have a better dough-to-filling ratio.

Also, I would consider using a slightly larger cookie cutter (4-inch diameter) and shaping the dough to be more like an oval. I think this would help with the difficulties when using more filling.

Finally, be mindful of how much filling you’re making/using. The amount of filling called for in the recipe is great when making four large pies but significantly less is needed when constructing the smaller ones. Out of the 15 made, adjusting for the recommended increase in filling would mean just barely 1 ½ cups is needed!

To ensure minimal food waste when only making the mini-pies, either make 2.5 times the amount of dough or make ¾ the amount of filling.

Put the filling for the little ones on the bottom half of the circle/oval leaving room for sealing and crimping.

To seal the pies, I started by dipping my finger in water and going around the seam to moisten it. Next, using my bench scraper, I folded the dough over the meat filling. Finally, I used a fork to crimp the edges closed.

If you notice any breaks in the dough while you’re folding/crimping, don’t worry! Use any spare scraps of dough to cover the tears. If a tear appears when crimping the edges, cover it with scrap dough and crimp it down.

Each regular-sized hand pie took about 8 mins to assemble from rolling it out to sealing it. So, it will take you around half an hour to do all four (at least the first time).

The snack-sized pies took about 8 minutes for 4 of them. Therefore, it will take you just under half an hour to make 12 of them. When I put together all of my dough scraps for the little ones, I was able to make 3 extra snack pies - 15 in total.

Always use your bench scraper or flat metal spatula when working with or picking up the pies.

TIP: Because each pie takes time to construct and because we want the pie crust to stay cool, place each fully constructed pie in the fridge after sealing it. For the smaller ones, place each batch of 4 in the fridge as you finish them.

TIP: If you’re running out of space in your fridge for the baking sheets, use a cooling rack to place one tray on top of the other.

TIP: Wait until the pies have chilled in the fridge to score the X. It’s much easier to cut into the firm dough than the softer one.

Above is what the pies looked like before and after baking in the oven for about 40-45 mins. Be generous with the egg wash to give each pie a nice golden brown colour.

Overall, I would give this recipe a 4.5/5. Both the regular and the snack sized hand pies were delicious. Although, I would recommend eating the larger pies with a fork. They were a bit too flimsy to be eaten by hand. However, the filling to pie crust ratio was perfect.

As mentioned in the filling step, the only changes I would make to make the snack pies better would be to use a slightly larger cookie cutter and use more filling. Other than that, they were amazing. Everyone in my house agreed that they would make for great appetizers or finger foods for a party because “you can eat them and just feel like you’re snacking”. You can even turn the assembly into a fun activity (or pass off the work to guests who like to arrive early)!

I would highly recommend not making this a one-day event. As the longest hands-on recipe so far, I would split up the work as follows:

Make the filling the day before

Make the pie crust and construct the pies the day of

Not only will this division of work make the recipe less daunting but it will allow the filling to chill completely - making it much easier to handle.

TIP: Although the prep time seems a little daunting, you can save time by completing certain parts of it while cooking. For example:

Cut up the potatoes and leeks while the bacon cooks

Chop up the thyme while the potato chunks cook

T H U R S D A Y, 8:15 am. Inhaling as you looked at the ceiling, you were debating whether you should text him or not. You know that you were being childish and that this truly wasn’t a big deal. But you really couldn’t get what Kei said to you out of your head. The words “I think you are clingy.” really casted a heavy shadow on your heart. Never in a million years did you think that you would make your lover feel that way. If only you can explain to him you didn’t mean to come off that way or tell him that you come to the realization that he was right, you have been acting like a leech.

After some time dwelling on texting him, or even driving to his house, you decided that you were being stupid and you should wait to see if he will say anything tomorrow. After all, he did say he will come this weekend, right?

Fidgeting with the promise ring, still staring at the ceiling, you found yourself falling into a deep worrisome sleep.

Upon hearing the alarm you have set for this Friday morning, you already wanted this day to be over. Getting out of the habit of checking your phone first thing, you forced yourself to leave the warm bed and head to the bathroom. Flickering on the lights, you see your reflection. It wasn’t as bad but you couldn’t help but noticed how pale you looked, sick maybe? Or just lack of sunlight? Finishing up in the bathroom, you walked to your closet to change into something comfortable, yet appropriate to wear outside in the cold weather.

Finally, you grabbed your phone checking to see if Kei had said anything. And to your surprise, he did.

“Would you like to meet at the cafe?” 9:40 am

Eyes widening, seeing the time it was currently 10:15. Shit, you whispered, you quickly texted the words, “sure, the one near the school?” Sighing loudly, you felt the vibration of the phone meaning he texted back, quickly. “Yeah, meet there in 10 mins?” You agreed but as soon as you shut off your phone, you mentally scolded yourself for trying something new today and not checking your phone right away.

While heading out, you greeted your parents a good morning and explained to them that you were going to eat with Kei and they agreed seeing as you really needed to go out and get fresh air. You guessed that being cooped up in your room this whole week might have sparked the thought that you and Kei were going through something.

Immediately, your face was hit with a cold breeze as soon as you walked out. You thanked the gods that the cafe was exactly a 10 minute walk from your house. Every step you took, you got lost in your thoughts wondering what you both would say to each other. Would he ask for a longer break? Were you that clingy for him to think that he needs more than a few days? Or maybe he wanted to break up? Who are you kidding, you knew Kei isn’t the type to break up over a small argument.

You quickly shook those thoughts out of your head as you turned the corner of the street. Glancing near the door area you saw him. Kei swiftly opened the door and hurried in. Taking in a deep breath in, you walked towards the door.

Hearing the door bell ring, you walked in to be welcomed with a strong scent of coffee. The atmosphere in the cafe was calm and quiet. You hoped you two wouldn’t be yelling, you really don’t to interrupt people study sessions.

Looking around, you eyes met his. The shine from his glasses threw you off but you knew without a doubt that he was sharing at you. You quickly walked to the table he was at, noticing that he didn’t order anything. But that really didn’t matter to you. What mattered was that you can finally be with him, hear his voice, look at his face, maybe hold his hand.

That's when reality hit you, you were sounding clingy. You knew that if you went to him sounding like this he would definitely notice that nothing changed in your head this past week. Sitting down, you hear him inhale slowly, and a small, “Hi” came out of his lips.

“Hi,” you said cheekily. You both stared at each other waiting for the other to say something that might ruin this relationship. But neither of you said anything. You notice that the silence was comfortable. It was like being here in front of him explained how you both were doing these pass few days.

“I know I might sound hypocritical, but I really missed you,” Kei breathed out, “I wanted to call you, and explained to you that I was a complete jerk. I shouldn't have said those words. I wanted to apologize before you thought of anything bad but, Tadashi said I should wait it out and see.”

You looked at him with a small smile, “Do you want the truth?” slightly teasing him, “I feel the same, I wanted to call you, to hear your voice. But I realized that, that's what you were talking about. I was being clingy and I should have given you some space. After all, we just finished exams and of course, you were tired. Will you forgive me?”

Fidgeting with the promise ring, Kei figured that that will become new habit of yours. He found it adorable. “I suppose I should be apologizing as well. I’m sorry that I wasn't openly honest with you. And if you want to break up-” “Is that what you want?” you questioned him listening closely.

“Of course not! I want to be with you. And only you. You're not a waste of time. I now understand that time with the ones you truly love are precious and that, “I promise you that time will never stop us from loving each other” Kei spoke out proudly pointing at the ring.

You couldn’t help but blush. This man truly is a sucker for you, but you are too. With that being said, you stood up and reached out your hand, telling him to grab it. He agreed. “Let's move past this and finally go on a special date.” You commented, getting tired of this mess. “Anything for you, darling.”

so this is me, rating the freaking seasons of lego ninjago. here we go

Masters of Spinjitzu: 7/10

Good set up. It's short and easy to watch. Also, nostalgia. Not my favorite, but good.

Rise of the Serpentine: 8/10

a good start to the series. it has its bad points like every season does but, yknow. I enjoy the building found family dynamic but you cannot tell me that that one cole-centric episode was not queer-coded as fuck. Because it was and I am not taking criticism. overall good!

Legacy of the Green Ninia: 7.5/10

This would have been a good end to the show imo. I'm glad it wasn't, but I can't really say I'm a fan of Lloyd getting aged up. He deserved a proper childhood dammit! The ending was good, solid banger. Also, Garmadad. Yes.

Rebooted: 5.5/10

I'm taking off points because it was eight episodes. Also, Zane and PIXAL's romance subplot? Literally took like, three episodes. Not even an hour, man. Not terrible, ending-wise But stop giving Lloyd and Zane trauma, damn you!

Tournament of Elements: 2/10

HOW. HOW DID YOU FUCK UP THIS BADLY. I loathe this season, solely because its supposed to be Kai-centric, AND IT DOES HIM THE FUCKING W O R S T POSSIBLE WAY. Also, the Kai and Skylor romance subplot sucks. And you're gonna tell me we DON'T address what happens when Kai holds the staff?! Bullshit.

Possession: 9/10

I adore this season with every fiber of my being. The Kai and Lloyd dynamic? Banger. Morro as the villain? Banger. The ending? Banger. By far, one of the better seasons.

Skybound: 6/10

Weehhhhhhhh, not my favorite. Nadakhan is a good villain and genuinely intimidating, and there are moments where you do genuinely fear for the ninjas safety. Hate the ending. How do you just erase everything like that?! I could also just say: "THIS NEVER EVEN H A P P E N E D." and my point would still be made.

Day of the Departed: 8/10

Thoroughly enjoyed this! Love the Cole-centric stuff. Pretty good special. Also, Morro! I love him your honor.

Hands of Time: 7/10

Not bad. Acronix and Krux are good villains. Not my favorite, but good. How many secrets is Wu gonna keep from the ninja? WHO KNOWS ANYMORE!

Sons of Garmadon: 7.5/10

Mediocre at worst. Harumi is definitely not a villain I saw coming until it was too late. She's also very hateable! Good written villain. But, the plots a little shakey.

Hunted: 8.5/10

HOLY SHIT GIVE LLOYD A BREAK MAN. My boy has been through so much and now he's on the run. Oh God. Oh can somebody please give him a break!! in all seriousness, I enjoy this one more than the previous. Its just better for some reason idk! Maybe its the dragons.

March of the Oni: 7/10

Why was this so short????? Wtf???? Bro, no. Solid, but short as hell.

Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu Scrolls: The Fire Chapter: 4.5/10

Character writing is shaky. Plot holds steady BUT NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF WU HAD JUST SAID SOMETHING.

The Ice Chapter: 7/10

Character writing is significantly better here. Plot still holds steady. Could be better, but at least it's not the Fire chapter.

Prime Empire: 7.5/10

Not the greatest in terms of plot writing. However, Unagami is a good villain. Redeemable. I like it. Good season. Not great, but good.

Master of the Mountain: 10/10

I'm biased, yeah. But can you blame me? Its just a really good season! And honestly, Cole-centric AND vague dnd-themes? You've won my heart. Also, Vania is a very well-written character. She's also not a love interest to Cole either!! I'm in love.

The Island: 8/10

A good special. Better if you watch it as the 40 min special. It's good set-up for Seabound. Its still not the greatest in terms of plot, though.

Seabound: 9/10

I cried. I will admit it, I cried during this season. It's such a good season, and the last episode just had me bawling. For this being pretty much the sole Nya-centric season, I hate that it just had her become the ocean at the end. I saw it coming- still cried. Also, if I had a nickle for every season of Ninjago that started with S and ended with -bound and killed off Nya in some way, I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot, but its weird that its happened twice right?

HI. so i watched TATBILB: A&F a few weeks ago, and I have some words. Before I begin, i'd like to preface that i'm literally 17 and have no film experience, and that I've read this book once maybe 4 years ago but here it is.

ps. if you haven't gotten it already: there will be spoilers. Heavy spoilers.

first of all, i'm sorry but i really didn't like the little edit things. Maybe I've reached that point in my life where I don't f with that anymore. Like when theres a drawn house and it slowly fades so it's real life?? no thanks

the music choice... I honestly didn't have that big of a problem with it, but my korean friend kept going "wtf is this music choice" so i'm quoting her on that.

the filming and editing. well maybe it's just me but I didn't really like it. yk when you're watching a youtuber and they do those zoom in things and it's sort of fast and funny? I think there were a few times the movie did that and i didn't like it.

literally, lara jean looking directly into the camera?? it feels like it's breaking the 4th wall and maybe they're doing it to be edgy but no thanks i didn't like that either.

WHY???? Her breaking the 4th wall added NOTHING to the movie. It just took me out of the experience. I especially didn’t like it when they did it in PS I still love you when they temporarily broke up.

THEY SET THE MOVIE IN OREGON. WHAT WAS THE REASON. THE BOOK WAS SET IN VA, AND I LIVE IN VA SO I FELT A CONNECTION TO THE BOOK. AND THEN THEY GO AND SET IT IN OREGON. WHAT. WAS. THE. REASON

OREGON DIDN’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE COLLEGES. THEY’RE STILL PRETTY FAR AWAY FROM STANFORD. IN THE BOOK, UVA WAS CLOSE BY SO LJ WOULDN’T HAVE TO BE TOO FAR AWAY FROM HOME. NO OFFENSE TO THE STATE BUT WHY OREGON. THEY COULD OF PUT THEM IN CALI AT LEAST

ONE OF THE REASONS WHY LJ WANTED TO GO TO UVA IS BECAUSE HER FAMILY WOULD BE CLOSE BY. BY PUTTING THEM IN OREGON, YOU TAKE AWAY THAT REASON. i just want to 👊 whoever’s idea this was

FURTHERMORE: THEY CHANGED UVA AND UNC TO STANFORD AND NYU. I AM INFURIATED. THE WHOLE POINT WAS THAT THEY WANTED TO GO TO UVA BECAUSE IT WAS LIKE 10 MINS FROM WHERE THEY LIVED AND IT'S A STATE SCHOOL. LARA JEAN FELT LIKE THE WAS GAURANTEED TO GO TO UVA AND WHEN SHE DOESNT, IT ACTUALLY HURTS THE READERS.

in the book, LJ was waitlisted from UNC, rejected from UVA, and accepted to W&M. I’m sure you can find like 40 people at our school who can relate to this situation. I doubt 40 people in our school can relate to being rejected from Stanford BUT accepted to NYU. dear writers, please give teens across the nation (your target audience) realistic expectations for college admissions.

YOU'RE GONNA TELL ME THAT PETER AND LARA JEAN WERE ACTUALLY QUALFIED ENOUGH FOR STANFORD. LEMME JUST SAY, I'VE APPLIED FOR COLLEGES THIS YEAR AND I FEEL LIKE I HAVE A PRETTY GOOD GRASP ON WHAT IT TAKES TO GET INTO CERTAIN COLLEGES. YOU'RE TELLING ME THE TWO OF THEM. REALLY. GOT. INTO. THOSE. SCHOOLS. pls.

DON’T GET ME STARTED ON THE KISSING BOOTH. ELLE AND NOAH ARE POSSIBLY THE DUMBEST CHARACTERS I HAVE EVER WATCHED. I DON’T SEE THEM DO A PAGE OF HOMEWORK AND I DON’T EVEN THINK THEY ATTEND CLASS. LIKE MAKING A KISSING BOOTH FOR ONE FUNDRAISER FOR A CLUB THAT CONSISTS OF 2 PEOPLE DOES NOT COUNT AS ENOUGH TO GET INTO HARVARD. but that’s a different movie...

this is literally the idea that television and movies have in making it super easy to get into ivy leauges. as if some in state college isn't up to society's standards of where or where not it's ok to go to college. it's when gabriella montez goes to stanford, troy goes to berkely, ryan evan goes to julliard, teddy duncan goes to yale, cody martin is accepted to princeton, HANNAH MONTANA does to stanford.

and lara jean wants to study english lit. she never says “i want to go to stanford because of their great english lit program”. it’s only “i want to go to stanford because my boyfriend is going and i have no other life outside of him

fine. make your characters seem awesome by making them go to awesome colleges. but still. this is upseting.

you know how awesome it is to hear UVA, the college I've always wanted to go to, in a published book? and for them to just rip it away- espeically when UVA is so attainable?? Yea yea movie directors, i get it, UVA isn't good enough for you. whatever.

They had AT LEAST 5 MONTAGES. 5. FIVE. WHO NEEDS THAT MANY MONTAGES. To quote my friend "the movie is all montage and 30 mins of plot" AND I CAN'T FIND IT IN MYSELF TO DISAGREE WITH HER.

AND THE DANCES. I REALLY DIDN’T NEED TO SEE NOAH CENTINEO DO WHATEVER HE CALLS “DANCING” IN 2 MONTAGES. I know everyone fell in love with noah in the first movie, but i’m pretty sure everyone fell out of love with him in this one.

again, i know nothing about movies, but 5 montages?? it seems like you're just filling space and trying to make everything seem ✨awesome✨ and ✨amazing✨. SURE. everything might be awesome and amazing, but this movie was 1 HR AND 55 MINS. and you decided to add 1 HR of montages? WHy. AND. one of them was in slowmo. i can't

THEY HAD VOICE OVERS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE MOVIE. sure. 1 at the begin and 1 at the end, I think that's cute. BUT THE WHOLE MOVIE?? WHY. like bruh- have a focus.

literally did anyone read the freaking book? Remember how- in the book right? Margot was actually really not ok with Trina bc she's sort of replacing their mom? and Margot is rlly not ok with it but gets over it?? see how that was summarized in like 5 seconds in the movie? Oh i'm sorry you used all your time for the movie making STUPID MONTAGES but can we get some actually emotionally beats next time?? thanks.

ok this is a big problem i have with the movie. in the 3rd book, peter tries to have a relationship with his dad who ran away from him years ago. He struggles with that relationship the whole book. This is good stuff. people can relate to this. the scene in the diner where peter “confronts” his dad was CRINGEY. It could be noah’s acting but i couldn’t take him seriously. AND HE FORGIVES HIS DAD AFTER 30 SECONDS. the movie tries to include these smaller storylines but can’t because of the time limit. i’m no screenwriter, but i’m sure there could have been a way to subtly move that plot line during the entire movie rather than that one conversation in the diner

and in the book, peter has to train for lacrosse so he has to eat healthy which stresses him out. i specifically remember him getting mad at someone (maybe it was john ambrose, i don’t remember fully) for EATING HIS CARROTS. this just shows that peter has a life too. he has to worry about lacrosse along with losing lj. but no, the movie makes him look like the perfect boyfriend who has no other worries in life except for the girl in front of him

remember how- in the book (right?? bc they had a book to go off of???) Stormy was a part of the 3rd book? like a BIG part?? They LITEALLY just used her as John Ambrose's grandmother (WHICH IM PRETTY SURE THEY DIDN'T EVEN DO IN THE MOVIES). literally, stormy and john ambrose were throw away characters in the second movie and i am infurriated. BUT ALSO I LOVE JOHN AMBROSE HOW COULD THEY DO THIS TO HIM??

and remember, how in the book, how the dog's name is "Jamie Fox-Pickle" and they changed it to HENRY??? where is the flavor. what was the reason. SERIOUSLY.

BUT ALSO. CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG BUT THERE WAS A POINT IN THE PLOT WHERE PETER'S MOM TOLD LARA JEAN TO BREAK UP WITH PETER. DOES NO ONE ELSE REMEBER THAT?? AND THEY CUT IT ALL OUT OF THE SCRIPT?? LIKE WHY. WHAT WAS THE REASON.

ok those are my biggest book grievances I think. but lemme just say, they NEVER went to NEW YORK. They literally wrote that in for the purposes of NYU. in the book, Chris and Lara Jean DRIVE to UNC because that's ATTAINABLE. BC THEY'RE STATE UNIVERSITIES. ANYWAYS

LJ’s and Chris’s spontaneous trip to unc showed their friendship in a good way. I never really liked chris as a friend to lj but during the trip, they are besties and it shows. the movie tries to do that in ny but peter is also in ny for some reason. she should have fell in love with ny WITHOUT peter at her side nagging her to sneak out and go on a date. she should have spent more time with chris rather than thinking about peter while she was watching the band.

the scene where Lara Jean is in New York and at the party and she sees the band? To all the boys I've loved before: Always and forever?? more like To all the boys I've loved before: gay awakening time.

when they moved the pink couch to the subway? WHy? They wanted snazzy pics.

when Lara Jean and Peter were making up and it was a really cute sequence AND THEN THEY MADE HER LOSE HER V CARD. FINE. I GET HOW THAT'S REALISTIC BUT IT WAS A CUTE SCENE. MY FRIEND ALMOST STARTED CRYING AND THEN LJ LOST HER V CARD AND WE COULDN'T STOP SCREAMING.

this is different from what was in the book (for the 100th time). In the book, they don’t do it and it shows that you can be in a high school relationship without being physical. I strongly appreciate that message. This darn movie had to have her lose her v card. WHY. IT ADDED NOTHING TO THEIR RELATIONSHIP. THE YEARBOOK SIGNING WAS SYMBOLIC ENOUGH

the montage where it's a montage of all of lara jean's and peter's cute moments?? ok fine. that was cute. but they literally just took scenes from past movies. imagine the impact if we like hidden moments from their relationships. maybe they're laughing in the car together. maybe they're watching they sunset. maybe peter is looking at her lovingly while she sleeps. WHAT IF. it WASN'T a montage of all the "bigger" moments of their relationship, and we got to see them just exist.

UGH. THE VOICE OVER AT THE END OF THE MOVIE IS SO CRINGEY I CAN'T

Some redeemable qualities

while i didn't like most of the songs, "like me better" by lauv will always be loved. especially since it's a call back from the first movie?? I can ftw

WHY WASN’T “LIKE ME BETTER” THEIR SONG???? I really thought it was a good song to be their song and they referenced it in the beginning. No offense to the “beginning middle and end” people, but i felt no attachment to that song.

they customized her phone. it looked like it was a 7 (idk rlly, i don't know crap abt iphones) but they customized it. Granted, I KNOW lara jean would be the one with the aesthetic background with color coded folder, but still- they did give her relevant apps. some to note include; tiktok, spotify, instagram, netflix, notes, messages, facetime, maps, whatsapp and the STANFORD APP?? whatever- i'm chill.

they did make lara jean make choices so that was good.

the prom ask?? That was cute. with the pancakes??

at the end when Peter played the song even though earlier he didn't like it?? I liked that. i liked that a lot. ok fine i more than liked that a lot. There are multiple texts where my friends are screaming at each other. In fact, 26 separate messages.

chris in general. granted, she was more present in the books, but i'll take what i can get.

there was so much they could’ve done with the movies, and i just feel like they didn’t deliver on anything. Jenny Han, i’m sorry. The movie overall, ik someone who cried about it and someone else who gave it 7/10. props for them but jeez i just wish for more.

i nod, embarrassed.

then he cracks up a little, “how long did it take for you to pick a film?”

“i paused it, was waiting for you.”

“yeah?”

“yeah.”

“alrighty then,” he slumps down, letting me get away with the white lie. “this better be good or else you’re held accountable.”

the professional teacher’s vibe is disappearing and transforming into a perky one.

he’s wearing a loose t~shirt with long sleeves and it’s even rolled up. his hair is damp and floppy, making him so much more attractive. he runs his hands through it, flipping it back as the stray droplets of water roll down his neck. i would gladly lick them off for him if he doesn’t mind...

“why’s my phone locked for 60 minutes?”

“huh?” i snap out of my daydream.

“my phone, why’s it locked?”

*ding dong.*

“maybe...you put the wrong password in?”

“pretty sure i didn’t, and you’re the only other person in this house, no?”

*ding dong!*

“aha..ha,” i giggle nervously.

“does it look like i’m laughing?” he asks me condescendingly.

my smile disappears.

*ding dong! ding dong! ding dong! ding dong!*

“ight, i’m coming!!” sir shouts, grabbing his wallet. “..jesus christ, break my damn doorbell, will you..” he mutters under his breath angrily.

i only ate 2 slices of pizza so i wouldn’t look like a fat bitch in front of sir. he, however, didn’t even eat any. so much for being ‘starving’. he was just casually watching me eat. i could feel his eyes on me each time i took a bite and the odd olive or pineapple went rolling down into my lap. it was so awkward!

we’re halfway through the movie and i felt the need to say something because jay, the character, was such a jerk.

“i mean, it’s actually rather heartbreaking. daisy was locked away for most of, if not, her whole life. and now she is finally free, finally able to experience the pleasures of the real world. she put all of her trust in him and he abandoned her. that’s so not cool.”

as i’m analysing the film, i feel his eyes analysing me.

“well, you can’t blame him,” sir counterattacks. “jay had his own life, his own problems to deal with. she was just another added problem to that.”

“then he should’ve led her back to the hospital again instead of taking her on this joyride purely for his own greed.”

“remember, she chose to take part.”

“he was being selfish.”

“he was lending her a hand.”

“which is what ultimately made her fall in love with him in the first place,” i state like a full stop.

sir’s whole face just speaks wow. “so why didn’t you do my analysis homework then, huh?”

“because it’s boring,” i look him boldly in the eyes, his slicked back hair has me feelin’ oozy and woozy.

“oh, it’s boring?” he emphasises, raising his eyebrows. “is that so?”

“yup,” i purse my lips.

“what was it again?” he grabs my arm, pulling me into his lap. “‘boring’, did you say?”

i’m trying to escape and he’s trying to hold me still. gradually, our laughter dies out and we become aware, so much more aware.

“got some on your mouth,” he says in the heat of the moment, running his thumb over my bottom lip.

there was definitely no pizza sauce or whatever on my mouth, but i play my part. somehow, his thumb finds its way inside my mouth and i instinctively wrap my tongue around it. his green eyes glimmer like shiny marbles as he watches me

suck

on his

thumb.

i feel pressure underneath me, something building up in stiffness. i shift his hand away, glancing down and then back up again. his marble eyes, they just look at me. look through me.

no way in hell did i imagine this moment to actually happen. i mean, most of us girls had these insane crushes on teachers, but never did i think it’d unravel like this.

he firmly places his hand on my lower backside and pushes me closer to himself. “what, you scared now?” he whispers, dominance combined with confidence, topped off with lust.

i gulp, trying to sound brave, “and why would i be scared?”

“you should be,” he replies.

i am lost for words. this kind of intimidation is seductive. all i wanna do is kiss him! though i won’t make the same mistake of glancing at his lips twice.

he speaks in a soft tone, “has anyone ever told you how captivating your~”

“my eyes are?” i finish his cliché line off for him.

“...your lips,” he corrects, casting his gaze down at them.

i bite my bottom lip, flustered for acting like a smartass.

“you know, on some occasions, i’ve noticed that you bite your lip when you’re nervous. it’s cute,” he grins, “i like it more than i should,” and waits patiently for me to fall into his devilish trap.

believe me when i say i’m trying goddamn hard to not sink my teeth into my flesh! which is why i replace it with a mere innocent gulp.

“but on most occasions, you gulp,” he says as i’m gulping.

he removes the hair from my neck.

i get hella anxious, hella aroused so i..

“nuh~uh,” he shakes his head and pulls my bottom lip down with the pad of his thumb. “‘nough biting from you, sweetheart. those are mine to bite now.”

am i dreaming right now?

i try to reposition myself by moving a little back so that i’m not directly on him. as i do this, his erection rubs further into me and i slightly moan kinda too evidently. my eyes open super wide and i instantly shut my mouth. it surprises me that it doesn’t faze him one bit.

“your t~t~thing is p~poking me..” i gesture with my eyes to his manhood.

his orbs shine like someone has stabbed an apocalyptic emerald sunset multiple times. it’s glorifying. magical. the stuff dreams are made from. and instead, he pushes me further down onto his sculpture. he leans his head in, his mouth millimetres away from mine.

“and do you like it?” he questions seriously.

our noses touch, our lips brush...

“answer the question.”

“yes,” i squeak. “i like it.”

i try to remain as calm as possible, but it’s impossible due to the nerves causing havoc inside me, particularly the nerves between my thighs. i don’t know what to focus on. that mouth? his eyes? or down below...

“may i let something be known, luv?” sir requests politely.

i nod.

“i can see your tits...through that shirt...” he whispers sexily.

my breath hitches up.

kiss me! why won’t he kiss me? just fucking kiss me! shit, it’s impossible not to look. i give in and look at his lips. the corners curve slightly into a wayward grin. i see... he wants me to initiate it.

welp, sorry, no can do, mister.

he literally places my bottom lip between his teeth and lightly tugs at it, his breaths hitting my mouth like rose petals. this act is enormously enticing, but i know he’s teasing me.

my turn.

i purposely grind in his lap and he suppresses a hoarse groan. then he scoffs. very conceited. he’s so gonna lose. i keep my lips impossibly close to his for when he forfeits which should be right about...now.

he shakes his head smugly.

i frown, pouting.

he half~smiles adorably.

fine, i have a better idea. one he doesn’t see cumming coming.

i lift away the waistband of my borrowed sweatpants and grip his hand. his body automatically tenses up. i can feel him getting harder from just the thoughts i’m giving him. i bring his hand closer to me. he’s losing and it’s hella entertaining to watch.

unexpectedly, a phone goes off and i jump in fright. i rapidly get off him and he returns to his usual, rigid ways. he aggressively clears his throat before answering that stupid device.

whilst pacing up and down and holding his forehead, he stares at me intently like i’m that fucking maths problem again!

Thick, hazy, soft morning Fahrenheit 47º at 7 1/2 a.m. Downstairs at 8 20/.. to speak to Goodyear (from near Brookfoot and Southholm) come about the stone in George Naylor’s land – Bids 5/. [shillings] a yard but wishes a hole to be opened to see the stone, and if worth more will give it – His 2 partners are Heap of H–x [Halifax] and Naylor of Willow hall – Said he was to tell George Naylor of upper place where he would like the hole to be made and I would see about it – He staid talking an hour till Throp came –

Then breakfast in 20 minutes and out with Throp at 9 40/.. to 12 20/.. – Took Throp all along the walk – Then to Well-royde upper wood – Will plant it at 15/. [shillings] a thousand with oaks at 10/. [shillings] in rows 2 feet asunder, and the plants 2 feet asunder in the rows, and between each plant in each row put in 2 acorns – (he has acorns from London at 4/. [shillings] a thousand – come from near Dorking) and keep the piece now trenched clear for 4 years at 20/. [shillings] a year – If the rough piece at the top was planted it would cost 10/. [shillings] a year additional keeping clean –

Then took him to the Cunnery wood – Hardly a good handsome plant in it – Has done very ill – Would fill it up with good 2 or 3 feet plants and uphold and keep them sufficiently clean for 4 years at £5 an acre – But could get it all trenched over at 1/3 a rood of 49 square yards which would be about 6 guineas an acre – And plant it with acorns at 40 /. [shillings] an acre and the acorns would cost about a guinea an acre (acorns at 4/. [shillings] a bushel and 1/. [shilling] a bushel carriage and about 3 or 4 bushels per acre) would make the trenching and planting with acorns about £10 an acre and then would keep all clean at 40 /. [shillings] an acre – Thus this plantation of about 3 acres would have cost me in 4 years about £50 – Said I would think about it –

At Lidgate at 4 30/.. – I had met Miss W– [Walker]’s postboy with a note asking me to dinner at 5 and stay all night tomorrow – The Mill house Rawsons cannot go to her till the 3rd and ask whether this would interfere with our going to York –

You know how glad I shall be to see you and remember how truly happy [y]ou will make me if I can be useful to you in any way in your enterprize au secret. I reproached myself not a little yesterday that it did not occur to me to say this yesterday. I thought of it before you had been gone five minutes.

Very good of her, but thought I, I shall take care of getting under obligation of this kind. Declined going tomorrow – Miss Parkhill urged my going to them – Said I was afraid I could not even promise for Thursday –

Sat talking 3/4 hour to them got up to come away – Miss W[alker] took me into the dining room. Explained that I thought it better not to stay all night again during Miss P[arkhill]’s visit, and declined even breakfasting there, and made Miss W[alker] agree that I was right. She seemed glad to see me and more affectionate than usual. Kept me twenty five minutes. To call again at Lidgate on Friday –

Home in 1/2 hour (dark) at 6 10/.. – Changed my things – Dinner at 6 1/2 – Had Pickles with the man he summoned the other day for cutting sticks in the hedges – Pretended greatish anger and difficulty in letting the man off (at Pickles’s entreaty) for paying for the summons, and giving Pickles 5/. [shillings] –

Wrote the following in answer to note I found on my desk from Mr. Mitchell the land valuer (who had been to speak to Mr. Carr about Godley, who said that, out of gratitude to me, he should make me the 1st offer of it) –

“Shibden hall Tuesday 20 November 1832. Sir – I was not at home when your note arrived – I shall be glad to see you tomorrow morning at the earliest hour you can make it convenient to come after 8 – At 8, if that hour will suit you, will suit me best – I am, Sir, etc. etc. etc. A Lister" –

Sent this note by John to "Mr. Mitchell, Cowmarket, Halifax" – Wrote the last 24 lines till 8 40/.. – Then read from 100 to 113 volume 1 Langhorne’s Plutarch and had a little nap till 9 3/4 – Then went into the other room and sat talking to my aunt till 10 50/.. –

Letter from Lady Stuart dated 16 November, 4 pages of 1 large sheet and a 1/2 sheet full from Lady Harriet de Hagemann, Copenhagen, dated 4 November. Both franked by Lady Althorp and printed over the top on his majesty’s service – Both very kind letters – Both Lady S– [Stuart] and Lady H[arriet] de H– [Hagemann] wishing to see me – Lady S– [Stuart] would I hope receive the shawl the day after she wrote – Asks my interest for Mr. Wortley – I shall explain about this – Still not knowing what Vere will do –

Observing Tumblr bugs

So I did some more work digging and observing around on tumblr wondering why posts are missing in on dashboard search tags, since you know? You have the power to search for terms in a post or tags on the dashboard. I also noticed that some posts don’t show up at all..

So, for WordPress when post don’t show up, you would change the date the post was made (The current time and date) and it would be added back to WordPress search where everyone can see it.

With WordPress, It’s a very easy fix to deal with. Not really a problem when you think about it.

Now with Tumblr, Dear lord. I can kinda see why Tumblr is seen as a hellsite.. Mainly for the issue, the site breaking search engine. It’s a mess..

So, for tumblr, it’s very different. Things I noticed.

A notice: Should go without saying but if your blog and posts are adult themed and not meant for anyone but adults, your posts will never show up. You can show a like of things but porn is a no go here.

1. There are some tags on Tumblr that will show your post for 10 mins+ before removing the post from the tags recent tab. If your post is popular (I.E. 3 notes or more) It will still show up there.

The tags I know where this happens is the tags “Twitter”, “WordPress” Let me know if you know of any other tags that act like this.

1.2 There are times when your post has 5 main tags but they won’t or don’t show up in search or tags. Retagging works in some cases but most of the time, it does not work.

2. Sometimes when you have 5 tags you want your post to be found in dashboard search, they just don’t show up. Sometimes if they showup, they show up on a new post (i.e. Re-upload) with the same tags will fix the problem.

2.1 Please remember this, as it may be another reason. If you have links in your post that are blacklisted, remove them. I can not say if having blacklisted links after the URL ban dropped may affect your post in the future or not.

Tags make it easier for readers to find posts about a specific topic on your blog. For instance, you could tag your landscape photographs with #landscape or posts about your butler with #butler. Tagging your posts is as easy as you’d expect. When you create a post, enter the tags in the field at the bottom of the post form.

Tips:

You don't need to put a tag in quotes or start with a hash symbol (#).

Hit enter to separate each tag.

Only the first 20 tags on a post will show up in searches. After that, you’re just tagging for show.

Tags on Tumblr can have spaces in them. They are the most legible tags on the internet. Hooray! - Tagging your posts

3 It also seems the URL ban + being able to search posts for terms in the post or tags has had a weird effect on posts. Reblogs don’t count, as they only show up on your blog and not searchable

I was looking in a part of tumblr called “tags not working” and I’m not the only one with this issue. Some post seems to suggest the election day and/or tumblr tag system is broken (No shock about it being broken)

Search for multiple tags or terms

To search for multiple tags or terms, all you have to do is use the right syntax. For example:

picnic lunch - returns posts with the terms “picnic” and “lunch” anywhere (e.g., #picnic basket, or #lunch break, or a post using the word picnic).

#picnic lunch - returns posts with the #picnic lunch tag.

#picnic #lunch - returns posts with both #picnic AND #lunch tags.

There is a 4th option that a user or bot may have reported your post for spam or mass Automation by a user/bot. (If you post too much) If you use tags that someone thinks is not fitting for a post of yours or if you used any import tools to upload posts from one site to Tumblr. You may fall under this rule..

What I can assume is that Tumblr system for keeping spam like post out of search + the URL ban + being able to search posts by terms / any tags has hit a great number of posts made by users..

If that is the case, you have to re-upload the post to see in search or find it by terms.

I will talk about this later..

And there is a 5th option which I can’t prove to be true or false.. I have heard the porn bots that like or retweet your posts is another reason to why your posts may not show up in search / tags but can not prove this but something to keep in mind..

If you have a secondary blog account on your main that posts or reblogs adult things, be careful, I can’t say how much this may or may not affect you since there no way to test this but keep that in mind

I don’t know if adult blogs that like / reblog your posts will affect you or not.

There is one last option.. And this is a very extreme case.. but..

If your posts aren't appearing on Tumblr-wide tag pages, it might be because your blog is pretty new and we need to make sure you’re not a robot or a spammer.

Make sure you’ve verified your account via the email we sent when you joined Tumblr. Once you’ve used your account for a while (and done normal, human things with it like follow other blogs and like or reblog posts), your posts will start appearing on tag pages.

If you are a robot or a spammer, you should visit our article about account deletion.

On the help center page for Troubleshooting tags. The post I quoted worries me. There could be a chance your account is marked as a robot or a spammer. If, at that point happens.

You have 2 options. 1. Contact Tumblr support and tell them your problems and pray to god that they do something to help out, and hope they don’t send a automatic response which can amount to “we will try to do something but won’t“

2. Backup your blog, make a new account and re-post everything there by hand, and let your followers know of the new account. Your current account may be marked as a spammer account or a robot.

So… How do you get your post to show back up on Tumblr Dashboard search with the power to search for terms and any tag on your post, and tags that are after the 5th tag on posts?

ANSWER: Re-upload the post or posts that is not showing up in tags or is no longer searchable on Tumblr Dashboard. It’s the only current fix to the problem for why posts are no longer showing up in tags / searched by terms

This does work but if the post didn’t have a banned link. This is worth a shot but be warned that your post may fall under the 5 tag or less rule.

For users who only reblog or like, this will not affect you. But those who don’t reblog and make posts, this affects us greatly. When our posts can’t be seen by other users besides followers.. I don’t man, not feeling it since most followers may / are no longer active.

Since the dashboard search engine is awful and tumblr @staff don’t seem to want to fix this issue or know how to fix the issue. This is the only way from what I tested.

If you have this issue but don’t want to re-upload posts to fix it. You have to go by the 5 tags can be searched, and you can’t term and your posts may or may not show up in tags. I could be wrong but I know there are people who don’t want to use a wrong around for this bug if you got more then 50 posts.

You can test to see if your posts are searchable by making an empty tag that has never been used, ever. Then go to mass post editor and add the empty tag as the 6th tag to 30 or 20 posts at a time and search the said tag. If your posts that you tagged with the empty tag show up in that tag under the “most recent” search and not tagged.

A empty tag (Your username) seems to be able to hold 40 or 20 of your posts at a time. That’s why it is best to do 20 or 10 to test them. You may need to wait a bit as there is delay for posts to show up. Or you can add the empty tag to 3 of your post as the 6th tag or anything after the 5th tag works.

However, if the tag being used is brand new or barely used it can affect some post from what I tested.

Brand new tags (Never used aka no posts in the tag) Can hold 40 of your posts.. Sometimes it can hold more?

non-empty tags (Tags that get used once in a while) Can hold 3 posts and there is a post delay

Very active tags can hold 3 post but if you post a lot, your older posts in a tag will be hidden after a fourth post is made but will show back up after a week or so. Sometimes Tumblr may break and the post might not show back up if hidden and you probably have to reupload it or re-tag?

If you see the post in most recent or popular search, your posts can be found by terms / any tag but this is me just observing and testing about 20 posts

Now should say this. New tags that never been used can hold 40 of your posts sometimes more? But this is if you are trying to search by term and not tags

This means users can search for your posts by tags and tags after the 5th tag as well or terms in your posts on tumblr dashboard. (That is good, very good)

Because I tried to bring my posts from WordPress to Tumblr via a defunct import tool named wp2tumblr and as a result of my post falling under these rules of spam here what I took note of.

Posts that don't show up or can not be seen working well in tags or at all and not coming up in the search terms. Out of 147 posts. only 113* of my posts do not show up right in tags or search nor can they be searched by terms or tags (Some tags do not show these post after 2 weeks. You have to wait a week to see them but nothing happens..)

So only 34+ posts can be searched by tag / terms / seen in tags or searched by terms

113 posts have bugged / shadow flagged for spam / search from the effects of using wp2tumblr to import my wordpress posts to tumblr..

Only way to fix this is by re-uploading the post to allow it to be found in tumblr tags and search terms.

Again, if you don’t see your post show up in search or tags, you will need to re-upload the posts in question.

And for me, I hate having to re-upload posts to have them be seen again but I will have to do it if I want my posts to be seen. Even if that means re-uploading my rants, vents, talking about users, and other things. So you will be seeing me upload some posts that may be 2017 or 2018 related.

Your followers may or may not be annoyed with you as a heads up if you re-upload posts to fix this issue.

And even if you do this, there is no 100 % plan yet or there is a chance someone may see you re-upload a post as spam.. Or the post may not show up later

But I thought I share what I have been observing how things been working on tumblr. If anyone has a better way of dealing with this, let me know.

Because when you make a new post, it is seen in tags / search. And it is searchable be terms or tags after the 5th tag

Again, if your post is not showing up in tags, re-upload the post in question and it will be back in search to be seen by everyone

However, another issue came to me. If you reupload the post it can be found in search and by terms.. now however If you edit/delete the tags when having more then 5 tags on the post and go down to 5 or less.

Your post may fall under the 5 tags or less rule and may also lose the right to search for that post by terms but something to look out for.

Update: It seems some of my new posts are not searchable by terms anymore.

I contacted Tumblr Support but got a fast reply but it was a copy and paste. I don’t know what Tumblr Staff is doing but it’s anything but helpful.

Here a list of my posts that got hit or don’t show up.. I added clear to the post name meaning it works / shows up. I need to look at all of them. I have since deleted some old posts so this list is outdated and this is not all of the posts yet..

Some post below don’t have the right name but keep that in mind

I’ve always loved numbers. There’s something reassuring about the way they’re always the same, how they make the world more logical, more reliable. Somehow, to me, they’ve always made sense. I guess it’s not surprising that when I started running, I quickly got excited about numbers. It was fun seeing that I could run the loop I did in 30 mins last week in 28 mins now, that I can add onto the loop, that I can run 40 mins instead. When I got a watch, it got even more interesting. I can run 1 km further than last week, 30 sec faster per kilometre, I improved my 5k time by x, I ran this many kilometres this week. Distance pace time. It was fun.

That was years ago. In the meantime, I’ve run anything from 5k races to a marathon, I’ve run a 1:58 h half marathon, a 24 min 5k, I’ve run 55 km in a week and 50k in a weekend once, I’ve done over 1300m of elevation gain in a single run, I’ve run on trails and roads and paths, I’ve run up and down mountains, I’ve run countless miles and miles and miles and I’ve loved most of them. I care about running in a way I don’t care about many other things.

At the beginning of this year, I took a break from running because I was feeling so burnt out from it. I told myself I had to take at least one month off, and then I would reevaluate. Between skiing and some health issues and some general life stress, it ended up being more like two months. In the end, the first time I ran again was when Ben and I were visiting his parents and his dad asked if anyone wanted to go for a run. I spontaneously decided to join, but barely a mile into the run, I found myself having to stop because I was sobbing and couldn’t breathe. Later that evening, I cried in Ben’s arms. “I don’t think I want to run anymore”, I said, and it felt like I was losing a part of myself. I’m a runner, I’ve always been a runner. How can I not love running anymore?

Ben’s advice was to do something else for a while, and I did. I focussed more on climbing, which was wonderful, and even started cycling a bit. In a way, it felt like I was grieving my loss of running, but mostly, I was just so relieved. It was hard to admit it, but I was relieved I didn’t have to run anymore. I only realised how much pressure I put on myself with it when that pressure was gone.

In the last few weeks, I’ve started running agin, but it’s totally different this time. I don’t track my runs anymore, I just run. The first few times, the difference was incredible – it felt so freeing. I’ve seen other people suggest this but it never made that much sense to me, because I love looking at the data after, collecting weekly mileage, having fun hitting fast splits. And yet, without even noticing it, I put myself in a cage of numbers, and the more time went by, the smaller the cage got.

Whenever I read about people who just go running, without a plan of how long it will take them, I used to wonder how they did that. One of my favourite books is Eat and Run by Scott Jurek, who used to frequently go off into the woods and just run for hours. It seemed impossible to me to go out on a run and not know how long it was going to be, especially long runs like that. And I used to think that maybe, maybe, one day, when I’m a stronger runner, when I can run 50 miles a week, or 60, or 80, when I can run marathons and more, I’ll be able to do that too. But no matter how much I ran, I never seemed to get to that point.

Having surprisingly good runs, unexpectedly long runs, requires me to get out there even on days where I don’t feel like it’ll be a good run. Because otherwise, all I ever do is live up to my expectations, and that’s when it goes well. More often than not, I fall short. Going out on a hard day, for me, requires giving myself permission to not have the run I planned, no matter which way. I have done that in the past, but I’ve never felt good about it, or even okay, most of the time. I’m starting to learn that.

The only relevant measurement to me, now, is joy. All I need to make a run perfect is to find joy in it, small or big. And just like in the past, that can be hitting hard splits, or knowing that finishing this run will let me hit a 50 km week, or this will be my longest run this year. Numbers can be a great joy, but they’re no longer allowed to be the only one. So the joy can also be coming back from a short run feeling refreshed and having a better day at work because of it, or having a fun run with my friends, or a run in a storm where the best part is the hot shower after. It can be the great views from the top of a hill or the cute deer I saw or how happy the dog was when I took him out.

None of this is really anything new – I’ve always loved these things, and I’ve always run for these things. But I’m no longer letting numbers decide that a run wasn’t good, and that’s radical to me, and new and beautiful.

I didn’t think I was going to run today. I sat in front of my laptop working all day and I felt sluggish and tired when I finished. But then, I stepped outside the front door, took a deep breath, and decided I wanted to get some fresh air. So I went for a run. It would have been okay if it was just 10 minutes, and it would have been okay if it turned into a walk. Instead, it ended up being my longest run this year so far. And just like that, I’m running off into the sunset.
