Squash Banana? 👁👄👁
That was one I was actually really hoping to post sometime, so it has an actual summary!
Danny can’t tell if he’s haunted by the Ghost of Bad Timelines Future, or just hallucinating. Whichever it is, he just wants to be left alone to do his homework and fix his relationships with his friends and family.
Should I ever finish it, there will be lots of wholesome Fenton bonding with a side of unease, courtesy of an ambiguously-real Dan

Danny: Hey, I need you to be my boyfriend for a week.
Jason: What.
Danny: My parents are coming over and I've apparently accidentally talked about a partner more than once and only realized when they said they wanted to meet them.
Jason, currently still solidifying his power as a Crime Lord: Excuse me?
Danny: Let me get this out of the way, I do not consider you at all a person of romantical interest and a friend. But I need you to act as my partner for only a week until my parents go on their merry way over to my sister, okay?
Jason: Is there, quite literally, no one else to ask this?
Danny: You're my only friend who lives in Gotham, plus we share the same apartment.
Jason: That's almost sad.
Danny: You in?
Jason: Sure, why not.
===
Maddie: Danny, honey.
Danny: Yes mom?
Maddie: I don't mean to.... question, who you choose as your parent but. Well, me and your father was just wandering if he was a... [Maddie gestures with her hand] you know, one of those.
Danny, uncomprehendingly staring at his mother's hand: What.
Maddie: Oh dear, how do I bring this up. You know, one of those.
Danny: Mother I need more context.
Jack: If your boyfriend a crime lord!?
Maddie: Jack!
Jack: What? Beating around the bush wasn't helping!
Danny: Say WHAT?
===
Danny: Hey dude, thanks for helping with this even though you didn't need to!
Jason: No problem, I wasn't doing anything too [Crime Lord activities flash through his mind] important.
Danny: Can you believe my parents thought you were a crime lord though? Weird am I right?
Jason:
Danny: Jason. You are scaring me.
Jason: Haha, yea that's weird isn't it?
Danny: Jason.
Jason: Well, I have to leave now to attend to my totally real and totally not crime related job at the ice cream shop.
Danny: [Squints eyes]
Jason: [Internally sweating bullets]
Danny: Suuuuure, bring me back some ice cream though.
Jason: [Thumbs up and leaves]

DPXDC prompt: Parents don’t approve of Dead on main
Fentons are geniuses but not multitaskers. They’re used to giving their all to the most important thing on the list, forgetting even food and sleep, and then going back to something else.
So when they find out that Danny is Phantom, they panic and can’t think of anything else. Well, until they see the Gotham News on TV. What does it matter if their boy’s ghost or not? He's in bad company now and dating a crime lord! That's a real problem. No time to whine about their research about the nature of ghosts. Their boy is in danger! Change of priorities, urgent change of priorities!
~~~~~
So, when Danny moves in with Jason because of identity reveal, Batman prepares for various outcomes. To the flow of GIWs in Gotham, to the parents of the boy who may continue to hunt him and even to the likelihood that Maddie and Jack will accept their child without any questions. Bruce is a genius, but he forgets to include one important variable in the equation, namely his son. Despite the anti-hero’s current status, Red Hood is still remembered by the general public for his bloody methods of controlling Crime Alley. Which could definitely bother..anyone, to be honest. And it's understandable that video of Red Hood and Phantom beating Black Mask up on news did not make a pleasant first impression.
However, Bruce himself know a completely different side of his son and therefore could not tolerate the completely unfounded accusations from Maddie. Batman: How dare you! My boy is an angel. Your son is incredibly lucky to have such a thoughtful and caring partner. Jack: Yeah? I don't think so. How do we know he’s not just going to use Danno powers in his criminal plans? Maddie: We’re taking our boy home and it’s out of the question. Batman: Yeah? And how do we know you’re not just taking him for your experiments? Danny *whispers*: Um, Jay, we should go away, if you remember. Red Hood *whispers*: Yeah, yeah, I know. But just listen to it. Usually we can not get a word out of him. A temporary cure for emotional constipation is a true miracle. May your parents stay longer if, you know, they will not try to shoot you or smth else?
~~~~~
Maddie at home*aggressively filing a petition against anti-ecto laws*: I don’t care if the parental rights aren’t over the ghosts. How dare a bloody furry tell me I have no official right to take my son home and shove my own quotes in my face calling him a thing?!
Vlad who has long wanted to get rid of GIW *enters the house*: Bonjour, need a helping hand? Jack and Maddie *exchange glances without knowing if Danny’s secret should be revealed to their friend*. Vlad: Oh, for Ancients’s sake. *Snaps his fingers and goes Plasmius* Vlad: I’m also a stakeholder in it, okay? ~~~after two hours of talking~~~ Jack: Wait, V-man, if you know about Danny being Phantom, you know about his boyfriend too? Vlad: Red Hood? How could I not. I often visit Gotham for business deals. This is a favorite topic of newspapers and gossip. I don’t know who he is without a mask but I must admit the guy has a good aim, a lot better than you, Jack. Maddie: *pulls out the Ghost Peeler*

I recently saw a DP/DC post about Jason being Danny’s bio dad, and I want to spit out my own idea of it:
1) Jason doesn’t know he has a kid. He’ done a lot of shady things and met a lot of shady people, and you can’t tell me he remembers every night of it.
2) Danny knows he’s adopted, he just doesn’t care.  3) Danny suddenly has to care one day because of Ghost Prince legality reasons where he needs his parent/gaurdian to sign something important because he’s a child, and Clockwork refuses to. Obviously he can’t bring this to Jack&Maddie, and Jazz isn’t old enough to sign either, so he tries to find his biological parents to maybe only slightly bully this hapless civilian into signing a piece of paper that says Danny *can* sign things, and then fuck off.
4) Danny sets off to find his bio-parents only to find that his mother is dead and not a ghost, and his father is somewhere in Gotham. Which is where the Bats are.
5) With a bit of help from his court and Wulf, Danny scours the city to find whoever the hell this “Jason” is, because just knowing his first name clarifies very little in a city like Gotham.
6) A few of the court physicians accompanies this search party because they’re headed to Gotham, and there’s no telling what kind of bullshit will happen, even if there’s no ecto-weaponry within a hundred miles.
7) One of the oldest physicians encounters Red Hood, and is immediately revolted by the nasty-ass ectoplasm they haven’t seen since Pariah was locked up the first time. Naturally their first impulse is to get this absolutely wretched ectoplasm out of this human as soon as possible.
8) Jason, naturally, doesn’t trust this glowing green person who makes the Pit writhe and try to get away. As such, he makes getting any kind of ghostly medical attention as difficult as possible.
9) Medic #1 gives up doing it solo, and conscripts the other medical personnel to help them effectively pin Jason (now out of costume) down while they filter out the nasty shit and replace it with clean ectoplasm from the Realms so his body doesn’t go through shock from suddenly having no ectoplasm.
10) Jason is still riled up and suspicious as hell, but he does notice that the Pit isn’t really there anymore. There’s still something there, but it’s not the constant anger he’s learned to live with. It’s calm, almost peaceful, actually. It takes all of two seconds listening to them giving out instructions to realize that they’re behaving like actual, good doctors giving out real medical advice. They repeat themselves when needed, and make sure to go over the whole of their instructions thrice to make sure he knows what they’re saying. It’s incredibly weird for Jason, but if drinking this weird not-pit-water stuff once a week or if he’s craving it from this weird glowing container is what keeps the Pit from bothering him 24/7, then so be it.
11) Jason asks what the actual fuck these people are doing here, because Metas generally know to stay away from Gotham.
12) They explain that they’re ghosts, and that they’re with a search party looking for a man with the first name Jason, and is likely to have black hair, blue eyes, or both.
13) Jason immediately puts together that they’re looking for him, because he knows his life well enough that he knows there’s no hope that the Jason they’re looking for is some random civilian who happens to have black hair and blue eyes.
14) Jason asks why they want to find this man, and if they have a way to confirm whether or not the person they find is actually the person they’re looking for. He nearly has a stroke when they say that they need him to sign some important thing because his son -which, WHAT?!?! When did he have one of those?!?!?!- is the High Prince of the Infinite Realms, whatever the fuck that means, but can’t sign official documents into law since he’s a minor.
15) Jason, against his better judgement, tells them his name, and says it’s possible that he’s the Jason they’ve been looking for.
16) He is right.
17) Jason has to grapple with the fact that he not only had a son he didn’t know about, but the son also died before he could meet the kid, and then apparently became the prince of the dead.
18) Somewhere in this time, Danny (as Phantom) finds out about the nasty Lazarus water from his physicians, and tells Jason that Amity Park is a place where he can find much better ectoplasm if the man needs it for health reasons, and that he just needs to contact the right people. Preferably one of the local vigilantes rather than the Drs. Fenton.
Timeskip (how far depends on what you want to do in the meantime)
19) Red Hood goes to Amity park on Bat business. This is where Danny and Jason each find out about the clusterfuck that is the other’s life.
20) Shenanigans.

Eye candy is now my Sugar Baby?
Vlad and Danny came to a mutual understanding. Vlad gives up killing Jack and gets Maddie and Danny's friendship. Vlad also debuts Danny as his heir, making Danny one of the most eligible Batchelors of his time.
At the age of 22, he's fresh out of college and has to navigate the political world of billionaires.
With marriage proposals left and right, one can only take so much before snapping.
It happens when he was making an appearance at a Premire involving space (movie or new Nasa project he funded). Walking down the red carpet several reporters kept hounding him. So much camera flash, the mics and cameras being shoved in his face. He snapped.
He scanned the crowd and zoned on the one person who could help. With a mischievous grin (the paparazzi caught this), he strode towards his target, snaking his arm of the persons arm and kissed him on the cheek, then whispered "play along" on a low voice no other would hear.
He knew this guy. He was kind, has a big heart, and is such an eye candy. He was Jonathan Samuel Kent, aka superboy.
Jon was in a similar position to Danny. The girls kept coming in waves and flirting with him. It was honestly exhausting. He came to the event with his mom as her assistant but lost her while chasing the stars of the movie for a scoop. The noise, bright flashes, and the constant flirting are starting to get him.
Suddenly a cold calm washed over him as a guy suddenly snaked an arm with his, kissed his cheek and whispered "play along". When he looked, he gave the most smitten, love struck expression he could make.
"Danny, my starlight!" Jon said excitedly.
"Jon, my sunshine I missed you!" Danny replied.
And so the two got lost in their own world chatting and catching up. Oblivious to the reporters snapping pictures and scribbling notes.
When Lois came back she saw the two, but only Danny seemed to have noticed her. She gave him a knowing look at screams. You owe me.
Overall, Danny had a great time, and at the end of the event, he came home with a heart much fuller and a scheduled date with his new boyfriend.
Lois to Jon: Just letting you know. I approve, use protection, and let us know when to expect grandkids.
Jon: Wha- Mom! (Embarrassed)
Clark: Your mother is right. You could get Danny pregnant regardless if he's a boy. His Halfa status would allow him to make kids he only needs your ... ahem ... fluids.
Jon: Dad! (Already thinking of having kids with Danny)
Danny: Personally, I like 3 kids, maybe 2 boys and a girl. The ghost treasury is mine plus real world billionaire anyway, so I can support you and the kids. Hey! Wanna be my sugar baby?
Jon: Okay, that's enough. BTW. Im a top only.
Danny: *eying Jon like a piece of delicious meat* I do 💍🤵‍♂🔔🤵

If anyone knows a thing or two about sex scenes, it’s Sam Heughan. Over the past decade, the 43-year-old Scottish star of Outlander, the cult-hit historical drama, has filmed hours of notoriously raunchy footage in his role as Jamie Fraser, the dashing 18th-century Highland rebel, with his wife, Claire – a time-traveller from the 20th century, played by Caitríona Balfe.
Yet two years ago, Heughan, as one of the executive producers (with Balfe), introduced an intimacy co-ordinator to choreograph such scenes, which had been criticised by many as excessively violent.
“The industry’s completely changed since Outlander started,” Heughan says, sitting in a Soho bar on a visit to London from his home outside Glasgow. “Not just our show but also shows like Game of Thrones were very graphic, with no room for the imagination, in a way that’s quite jarring now. As young, keen actors, we were just expected to get naked and go at it. Caitríona and I formed a bond and trusted each other, but there were times when we were pushed too far.” He was especially troubled by a scene involving full-frontal nudity in season one, when Jamie was tortured and raped by his rival, Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies). “That really didn’t sit well.”
Everything changed following the MeToo scandal, leading Heughan to employ Vanessa Coffey to choreograph the sex scenes. “So now everyone knows what the boundaries are, like in a football or rugby match. It’s been so helpful and freeing, and it was because I didn’t want younger actors to go through what we’d gone through. Now, the scenes are sexually charged, but not gratuitous.”
Despite his heartthrob status, Heughan – who’s 6ft 2in, with the strapping physique his role necessitates – is modest and thoughtful company. He also had Coffey enlisted to co-ordinate his latest project, Channel 4’s erotic thriller The Couple Next Door, filmed during the short break between Outlander’s seasons nine and 10, in which he plays Danny, a policeman living in a Leeds suburb in an open marriage with Becka (Jessica De Gouw).
“We didn’t want to make a salacious or seedy show about swingers,” Heughan says. “It’s about the psychology behind it – what is it to be in an open relationship where two characters love each other so much that they can invite people into that relationship? I think it’s possibly the greatest form of romance to allow your partner this, if it’s the itch they need to scratch. My character struggles with it.
The couple’s (initially) strait-laced neighbours are played by Alfred Enoch and Eleanor Tomlinson, who in 2019 finished five seasons as Demelza in Poldark. With Outlander about to start filming its final season, she and Heughan compared notes on moving on from a huge, long-running costume drama.
“It’s emotional. For me, the prospect’s hugely bittersweet. It feels like getting out of an institution. Outlander’s like a family, it literally defines who I am.” After all, Heughan has created an empire of Outlander spin-offs, including books, television travelogues and his spirits brand, The Sassenach – named after Jamie’s nickname for the English Claire – not to mention his charity, My Peak Challenge, which has raised nearly £5 million to fund a variety of causes, including hunger relief and blood-cancer research. “I’m ready for new challenges, but also nervous about what it’s like in the real world,” he says.
Still, he felt now was the right time to wrap. “Outlander could have finished after the ninth season, but, personally, I felt we hadn’t quite got there. So now we have the problem of pushing the writers to do something that’s hopefully satisfying for the audience, but also exciting.” So Heughan doesn’t yet know how Outlander ends? “No idea, and it’s really tough because Diana [Gabaldon, the author on whose novels the series is based] has written so many books.”
The show has a vast international fanbase; VisitScotland has cited a 67 per cent rise in visits to the show’s locations, such as Culloden and Inverness. “I do feel like I’m an unofficial ambassador for Scotland, and sometimes I don’t think the show is given enough credit for what it’s done for Scottish tourism,” Heughan says. “I think the numbers are even bigger than they say, because reams of Americans are just making their own itineraries. Doune Castle’s numbers are up 800 per cent, it’s been completely renovated as a result.”
The show has also transformed the local film industry. “For 10 years, we’ve been employing people at over 200 Scottish locations, we’ve started an intern scheme, we’ve built a studio with five sound stages where there was nothing before. So it’s going to leave a legacy.”
The son of an artist single mother (his father walked out when he was a baby), Heughan spent his early childhood in the Borders, his teens in Edinburgh, before studying at Glasgow’s Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where his mentor was third-year student James McAvoy.
Having worked in London and Los Angeles, Heughan fell back in love with Scotland when he was cast in Outlander. Initially against independence, filming the first season in the run-up to the 2016 referendum transformed him into a vocal advocate. “Scottish politics right now is a bit of a mess, which is a shame, but maybe they’ll find a new rallying cry. We’re a great wee country with amazing resources, most of which are controlled by the British. Similar small European countries have great identities.”
Initially, Heughan is hesitant to discuss the issue, aware taking either side will provoke a social-media backlash, but then he decides: “Why can’t actors have opinions? The problem is you have to come down on one side, there is no room for debate. Everything has become so aggressive and then social-media algorithms mean you only get to see one side of the argument.”
He had his fingers burnt when last month he signed an open letter from Artists for Palestine UK, alongside the likes of Tilda Swinton and Steve Coogan, which accused the Government of “aiding and abetting” Israeli war crimes, but failed to condemn Hamas’s terrorism. The following day, Heughan rescinded, saying he hadn’t “fully understood” what he was signing.
“I was maybe naively calling for peace, which is what we all want, but, unfortunately, that situation is so complex, I can’t understand it all,” he says now. “As an actor, you have a platform, but if you put your thoughts out there, you upset people, but you’re also damned if you don’t say anything.”
Heughan’s taking time to navigate a potential post-Outlander career path. “I’m a workaholic, but I have to be discerning. Whatever I do next, I have to feel really passionate about.” Possible plans include directing and exploring a different side to Scotland than misty heather and bagpipes. “I think that underbelly you see in [Ian Rankin’s] Rebus and Irvine Welsh is very interesting, there are still pockets that are very hard and gritty.”
Back in 2005, he auditioned for James Bond in Casino Royale – the role that eventually went to Daniel Craig. Now, there’s a new vacancy. “I’ll throw my hat in the ring,” he says, grinning. “I’d be a brilliant Bond, I’m good at action and I’d bring a lot of emotional intelligence.”
There might even be space for a personal life. Heughan’s mystified by “facts” he reads about his private life online. “There’s so much nonsense that’s completely false – apparently, I have a daughter. News to me!” he says, flushing. The truth, he says, is that Outlander leaves no time for relationships.
“It’s insane hours and takes over everything. Caitríona’s carved out a beautiful family for herself that she protects very well, but I’ve seen how hard it is for her to do that. I want a cat, but I’m too scared even for that, how would I look after it? One day, maybe,” Heughan says, dreamily.
Posting again as some people had difficulty opening the previous link.

Submitted Prompts #85
*deposits the cleaned skull of a deer* As tribute, darling.
F
Danny doesn't erase the memories of his parents after the Reality Trip episode. Maddie and Jack tell Danny they love him and try to help via helping him figure out what the limits of his powers are and what he needs to be a healthy half ghost, but G.I.W. find out, catch Danny and tada, vivisection on our favorite Ghoat Boy. A rag-tag rescue mission ensues, consisting of some of Danny's "rogue's" and Valerie, who was brought into the fold earlier. A big battle in the Main facility happens that the group barely manages to get Danny out and escape to Fentonworks. Jack and Maddie, knowing there was nowhere way, set the portal to blow and, with heartfelt platitudes and tight holds, send the children through to save them and sacrifice themselves to keep the Agents from capturing Danny once more. Tucker, driving the Spector Speeder, tries to keep the group calm while Sam, Valerie, and Jazz work to patch up Danny.
In trying to stop Danny from fully dying, Jazz makes a wish, completely forgetting about Desiree's powers.
"I wish there was a world where you could be safe, little brother." Jazz whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks and pressing a clean wad of gauze onto Danny's bleeding chest as Sam works diligently to sew him back together.
The Speeder rumbles, and Sam barely has time to look up, horrified, at Jazz before Desiree's silky smooth voice whispers across their ears. "So you have wished it, so shall it be..." Green mist swirls around Danny's chest before exploding outward, momentarily blinding the teens.
Tucker barely has time to stop the Speeder from smashing face-first into a shiny metal wall, sending the occupants tumbling on the floorboards of the cabin. "Fuck, Jazz, you can't say the W-Word! It's taboo for a reason!" He starts to reverse the Speeder when the door was ripped from its hinges.
Valerie's suit slipped over her body as a wrist blaster was pointed towards their assailant. Her arm dropped slightly, and her shoulders relaxed. "Holy shit, what did you wish for, Jazz?" She asks, staring at the burning red gaze of Superman, who had tossed aside the door like it weighed nothing.
"Did we hope realities?!" Sam yells out, quickly jumping to her own feet while pulling out her Laser Lipstick and popping the cap off in preparation. "Cause that looks real to me!"
Tucker is the one to step forward, eyes trailing over the statuesque form of the Comicbook Hero. "Pinch me, cause this can't be real." He holds his arm out to Sam, who immediately digs her pointer and thumb nail into his sweaty skin. "Ow! Fuck, Sam." He watches as the red fades from Superman's eyes and he settles down onto the ground quietly. "Nope, comics are real cause he's not a ghost and he was fucking flying."
"How did you get up here?" Superman's voice is smooth, strong, with a hint of a Midwestern twang, and looking closer at the Boy Scout shows he was a mix of all of the live action actors that had played him on the Silver Screen. His suit is just like the comics, vibrant and brightly colored with the stylized symbol for the Hoise of El emblazoned proudly on his broad chest.
"Jazz, you wished us into the fucking Detective Comiscs world. I... I think we're in the Watchtower, the one that orbits Earth..." Tucker's legs give out as he continues to stare at the World's Strongest Man. "We're not in Illinois anymore..."
And then we get further in where Danny heals and then looses his shit about his parents sacrifice and then the rest of the JL try to adopt these spitfire kids. Could throw them to the Titans, or to the Young Justice group, anything really.
Really, I just wanted to get this one out of my head.

OK, I got it : Telegraph shitshow, anyone?
Oh, what the hell. I had no patience and couldn't picture myself fidgeting in a dull supermarket and ending up by forgetting half of the things on my list.
So, here it is, all of it.
Proof of buying:
Tumblr media
Yeah, "between Outlander's seasons nine and 10'. See how accurate the girl who wrote it is? How about a cobbled something to address the real issues at stake, of which there are three (more on this, in my next post)?
LOL? LOL.
Anyway, there goes. Passages in bold are marked by me:

I love the tall Jazz concept, but what I love more is tall Fenton siblings
Jazz has to be taller than Danny, she could be 6"9 or 6"10
Danny could be 6"7
I'd say Danny started growing when he was 16
His ghost form doesn't/hasn't aged though because reasons....
In my mental sinario Dan turned over a new leaf with some help comforting from Jazz and he's 1 or 2+ inches taller than Jazz, like 6"11+
He doesn't have a human identity because he likes staying in the zone more, unless he's looming over amity for some strange reason or visiting Jazz,(Jack or Maddie)
Honestly now that I'm typing it I can see them making time to visit him in the zone
Maybe they feel regret, if they hadn't been so caught up on their ecto experiment and research the portal accident wouldn't have happened, he wouldn't have been so scared to tell them he's part ghost, and they would have had time to notice his school grades were low so he wouldn't have felt he need to cheat
Dani at age 12 is like up to Danny's neck in his original height at age 14, so I'd say she's like 4"10
But when danny has his growth spurt she grows to Danny's original height of 5"5 when she reaches 14
I guess some part of her want to seen as a younger sibling(because of the whole vlad clone replacement fake family, she wants a real one, so she emotionally doesn't allow herself to grow faster than danny, jazz & Dan) and she still hasn't hit her growth spurt like Danny did, but when she does or allows herself to she'll 1 or 1 1/2 inch shorter and danny being
She has a ligit human identity which has been set up by Tucker, Technus and Desiree......, let's say she was at boarding school from 11 and below
Does Wisconsin have a boarding school?
Well it does now, she was being taken care of by Vlad (who had made up with the fentons)
He sponsors them now....(these dots are really me just holding back from explaining 😭)
Dani also travels alot (paid by Vlad of course) and she trusted to take care of herself, from her past roaming experience (plus she's a fenton/phantom 💪) she visits when she wants to and on holidays
I'd like to say her obsession is freedom, she can be who she wants to be and not someone she failed to be, (this is also why I think that mind control wouldn't work on her like Danny) which is also why I give her a water core since unbound it can mold into anything
Let's say Vlads ghost obsession was making him crazy, all that time he was alone with that ecto achnee made his obsession seeking out kin someone who'd understand him, aka Danny
Especially when he wanted something but he didn't know what, so he got rich to try to fill the void, and then when he found something that would fill it aka Danny he wanted him to join him
Honestly all that time alone, with his doctors not know what the hell is wrong with him, and him having to figure out his powers blind, his feeling of abandonment from Jack & maddie, the root of the problem being Jack and seeing Jack happily with a family
Made him even crazy
Making him want to steal from Jack, aka wanting Maddie and Danny
(I know I didn't explain this as best as I wanted, but this is not what I came here for)
He gives up the mayor seat to a nice guy who like to drink tea, has a mustache and looks like he gives nice hugs
Anywho as I said he sponsors the fentons who in turn sponsors Amity park with ghost tech, ghost shields in certain places
in the future after canon (beside the whole identity reveal) there should be a Amity park announcement that can pic up different ecto signatures that Maddie and Jack put in like
" ANNOUNCEMENT CODE RED LVL 3 Ghost Snake"
"ANNOUNCEMENT AMBER IS HAVING A CONCERT IN AMITYS PARK 3RD PARK AT 7PM"
Also what if they have like a GhostGo app (like pokemon go) Let's say Tucker created it and if you see a ghost you can take a picture of them and it'll be added to you own personal database
I imagine Youngblood being rare cause only children and child at heart can see him, but even if they take a picture of where he is he'll still show up blank, but they have the option to draw him
Anyways I can imagine after everyone is grown up Maddie and Jack start traveling to paranormal places to research ghost activity
(I've also have in my headcanon from someone else, that years ago before the portal they went to a event in Gotham to get Bruce Wayne to sponsor them and he laughed in their face)
.......
Reasons why Danny's ghost form isn't aging
Even tho he knows he wont turn evil like Dan there's still some uncertainty mentally that's holding him back, like no one being able to stop him of he turned evil, he doesn't like being strong......
He know he wont be like Dan (which is why his human form is aging to an extent) but in his ghost form there still that lil fear of becoming evil and that's stopping his ghost form from aging and looking like Dan
Like around 18 years old he is crowned crown prince(he was already a prince, but now they're really getting him ready for the throne" and he starts learning about ghost history and kingly stuff, but then he learns that the whole tittle comes with a power boost (I've read a fanfic that does this and loved it) and now that too powerful to stop if he turns evil is slowly creeping up the just a lil 🤏
The more I explain this the more it Branches off into my other mental sinarios I was just trying to tell the height differences......
Well....The whole town is liminal, some more than others and they are sick of the Justice league not taking them seriously and answering their pleas. Like after the whole town went into the zone and they still didn't help, they gave up on them and now hold a strong disgust towards them
Ok im done, I really had to force myself to stop typing this is not what I came here to explain....
Just one more thing
I should mention that Danny wanted to be an astronaut, but because of the ecto in his blood he can't so he stuck with being a Nasa engineer (I think they don't need your medical history for that) plus he can fly to space any time he wants
In the zone Dan is called Lord Phantom, older brother of (crown) Prince Phantom, Jazz would be called Princess Jazz, but I don't want the justice league to figure out their identity, like I want it impossible unless they're trusted enough to be told
But once again amitians don't like the justice league so....... she's called High Princess.
Dani could be called Princess Dani or princess Phantom
(She's called Ella in her human form)
18 + 5 = 23/24 when he's with nasa(still dodging being crowned, basically king without the crown, he'll take it soon... maybe that's why the justice league comes knocking [like that one fanfic where all the magic users feel it] after a long time of connecting to Amity park), Jazz would be 25/26 psychologist in Gotham, just meeting or going out with Jason, Dani is traveling places hard to reach, and is in ghost knight training. Don't know what Dan would be doing? Or Sam, Tucker & Valarie would be outside the zone
I imagine the fenton siblings towering over the Wayne's/batfam if she ever introduces them, Honestly still mad at frickin Bruce from friendly neighborhood vigilante ch. 14
Anyways the reason for this is because of the recent tall jazz fanfic had my mind running.
........This is posted some days later, I really went off track and didn't even want to post it anymore. I really just came to talk about the heights. The only reason why I finished it is because of another headcanon that formed while I was typing this, which will be in part 2 !

"Woah..." Danny's voice trails off as he takes in the cave.
"Welcome to the Batcave, home to all the bats and birds of Gotham. My name's Jason." Red Hood tells Danny as he takes off his domino, revealing swirling tealish blue eyes.
"Oh, I'm Danny, can't believe I forgot to mention that before..."
"It's fine, Danny. Let's get upstairs for some food, huh?" Jason says with a smirk before leading the way to an elevator.
"Me want to go." Bizarro speaks up as they pass a seating area.
'I'll stay with B, as much as I love to watch the matches between you and you family, the less people the better for this, I feel." Artemis pats Jason's shoulder before peeling off with Bizarro, leaving Jason and Danny to continue on alone.
"Alright, then... So, everyone you'll meet is either a vigilante or the butler, Alfred. No matter what the media says, Alfie's the real force behind the Wayne family, believe that." With that casual reveal, Jason steers Danny into the elevator.
"Wayne. Bruce Wayne? The fruitloop who's known for being a playboy... is Batman?!" Danny's voice echoes around the small space with his exclamation.
"The one and only. Prepare to be interrogated. He won't hold back just because you're a kid." The elevator doors open with that warning, revealing a study with wood paneling, many bookshelves, and quite a few picture frames.
The desk is covered with paperwork, paperweights, picture frames, and writing utensils. The leather chair behind it is made cozier by a throw blanket. Perched in said chair is a pre-teen boy of middle-eastern complexion with an intense expression and the green eyes to match.
"Todd. Who allowed you to bring in a civilian through the cave? I doubt Father is aware of this, as we have not been made informed via briefing." Damian glares at his second eldest brother.
"Oh, shut it, you demon. I'm taking this kid in, with or without the old man's approval." Jason continues to steer Danny out of the room, letting the grandfather clock close behind them. A single toll of the clock's chime rings out as the two leave the study.
Danny looks back at the clock, seeing a green post-it note sticking out from behind the glass. "Clockwork," He whispers, turning back to face the black-haired man. "You're taking me in?"
"Kid, your parents are never going to see a single hair from your head again if I can help it. I won't be your dad, but I can be a brother." Jason looks Danny in the eye as he says this, wanting to get his point across.
"My sister... she should be coming to Gotham soon. Can you keep an eye out for her? Her name's Jazz, Jasmine, Fenton. But she'll likely change her last name soon."
"Will do, kiddo. Just give me a picture later. Now, any food preferences or allergies? Alfie'll want to know." The two continue the trek through the manor as the dialogue continues to flow.
"Well, this is the dining room. Take any seat that you're comfortable with. Don't feel forced to answer the old man's questions." With those instructions, Jason opens the heavy oak door to the room.
As Danny enters, he's shocked by the amout of people with black hair and blue eyes. Jason acts as Danny's bodyguard as they approach the long, stately table.
"Jason, who is this?" The man at the head of the table asks.
"This is Danny. I'm taking him in." Jason tells Bruce, who lifts a single brow.
"Father, Todd brought the boy in through the cave." Damian tattles to the bat as he enters behind Danny and Jason. The latter of which glares at the youngest while muttering under his breath.
"Did this one have a chance to figure it out? Or did you fully skip that part of the tradition?" Tim asks from his place three seats to Bruce's left.
Jason gives the stalker a tongue-lash of an answer. Duke chuckles as the response, earning an elbow to his ribs for it.
"Never see me sit next to you again," Duke hisses to Tim for that hit.
"Nephew or baby brother?" Cass asks as she appears in the room, startling all but Danny, who had noticed her while Jason was responding to Tim.
"To be determined, but brother is more likely." Jay tells his little big sister as she glides over to the table to claim her seat.
"When was this decided?" Bruce begins his interrogation before the two even take their seats, earning him a look from his father-figure.
Dinner passes somewhat uneventfully, at least for a manor of vigilantes. Danny answered whichever questions he was comfortable with, while also making some small puns to keep the atmosphere light.
"You just happened to come across a punster, huh?" Tim asks Jason as Alfred serves dessert.
"Didn't realize it until twenty minutes ago, so, yeah. Dickie must never find out." Jay growls as he looks around the room, fully expecting his older brother to just pop in at the mention of his name.
"I must never find out what? Oh, who's the new face? Hi, I'm Dick!" The acrobat drops from the vent, landing in his designated chair before turning to Danny with a wide grin.
Sensing the impending pun-off, Bruce, Jason, Tim, and Damian groan.
"You go by that willingly?!"

Listen I love DCxDP crossovers as much as the next person, but every time I see people write John Constantine offer as a solution summoning something I cringe internally a little bit. John is all up for self-sacrificing and doing things you shouldn't but he does not fuck with other creatures he knows shit-all about.
On the other end, do you know who does fuck with creatures they know shit all about?? And keep summoning things and making deals with things they shouldn't be summoning or making deals with? And also doing this most of the times with the express intentions of dealing with the dead?
The Winchester Brothers.
Where are my season 15 fix-it fics where Dean does not give up, he does not say "oh well Castiel died after confessing his love for me I guess that's it" or where Sam does not say "well my brother died during a run of the mill vampire Hunt -not even because of the vampires but because of a rusty nail. Let me just abandon him forever after everything we've gone through and finally actually listen to him and get myself a family with my blurry wife and random son"
And instead they do again summon something that is completely separate from everything else they've dealt with before and they actually managed to contact Danny who somehow is the king of the Ghost Zone or whatever fucking shit you want. Maybe you can make the empty nocturne! That would be really fucking cool :O so Danny somehow gets convinced to bring back Castiel or Dean or both.
Ok now I'm actually thinking about it.
You can even make it adult Danny by simply following the Supernatural timeline. Danny gets his powers in 2004, when he's 14, the Winchesters start looking for their dad in 2005, and they're... 20 something. Castiel joins the brigade in 2009 (I thought he showed up in season 5 lmao it's been a while since I've watched it), Chuck starts writing the books- fuck I don't know. 2012? Was it season 7? **Looks it up** fuck nope he starts writing when they start, that's my mistake. I meant when does he show up. And that's together with Castiel. Wow. Give me Danny who is an in universe Supernatural fan. He's the prime target audience! Starts reading after he gets his powers because we'll they're ghost hunters but the ghosts are actually evil. So it's fine. And they're fictional anyway so no big deal.
But then Chuck stops writing (end of season 5) and Danny is extremely disappointed.
He doesn't learn the truth until 2018 (season 13) when Jack wakes up The Shadow and consequently shakes the Infinite Realms. Nocturne has to be somehow connected. Maybe they're not The Shadow themself, but a subordinate? Like Frostbite is the leader while the yetis are his citizens. And The Empty is the realm they live in.
Now Danny is slightly terrified because it means all the things that go bump in the night are real. Which is a scary as fuck thought. And also wonders why they've never had hunters in Amity, or why he and the other ghosts are different from the ones in the books.
But he can't really do anything. To help.
Hunters definitely have checked out the town. There's no way they'd fly under the radar. But either there are already hunters INSIDE Amity And they've staked their claim on the town, no outside hunters allowed. Or there's something wrong w the entire place that makes it so that people don't really realize anything is wrong with it. I til they're inside it. But when outside nothing :/ all normal.
I feel like it wouldn't be Dean who summons him though. As much as I love him, they are aware that pretty much only God could pull out Cas and Jack wasn't going to do it any time soon.
But Dean dying like that? No Sam is not going to let his story end like that. But they've pretty much exhausted all options. What's he gonna do? Make another deal w a demon that's going to ultimately make more of a mess? Who's gonna make a deal w a Winchester anyway?
I don't know how Sam would find a way to contact Danny. The Fentons were the first to make contact with the Zone, so the bunker's unlikely to have any resources. Bobby's gone, so that's a bust. He'd have to find something new. Something no other hunter has interacted with, ever.
Again.
Because let's be real. The Winchesters already did that plenty.
Maybe he stumbles upon Amity by accident and sees it as an opportunity, idk.
Sam's kinda more willing to give monsters the benefit of the doubt. They know angels are not all bad, they had werewolf friends, and so on and so forth.
So sure he might start off listening to the Fentons at first, but if he were to interact with Danny (as Phantom ofc) one on one he'd probably see that they're wrong.
Danny would freak out of course. On one hand, fuck man. He's a fan. That's so cool.
On the other, he knows nothing will stop the Winchesters. He's deader than dead if Sam was there to hunt him.
But alas, he'd do anything to help him get his brother (and Cas, as a treat) back. Who's gonna stop him? God? Jack? Idk man I feel like he'd let them have this one lmao. Or still Danny could definitely argue that he's the king of all afterlives, so what he does to his subjects is none of his business (since God (or at least Chuck couldn't) can't interfere w The Empty, only the afterlives he controls. So heaven and hell. Not even purgatory iirc)

Chapter 4: “Danny Needs a Break”
Jack, Maddie, and Dani had just finished filling out paperwork in Lancer's office when, as was quickly becoming their usual, a ghost appeared. The Fentons leapt into action, joining up with Phantom and the Red Huntress, who had also detected the unwanted guest on the premises. If there just so happened to be two Phantoms in that fight, the students of Casper High were none the wiser.
After the ghost was taken care of and the Fenton family was back in Mr. Lancer’s office, Dani suggested that she should also be included in the time management plan for Danny. She would need one similar to his, if not the same, when she started studying there next year since she was a Phantom as well. Her parents and Mr. Lancer agreed.
After a few days, they fell into a sort of rhythm. Dani and her parents took the day shift, while the others were in school, with Danny helping them out on the more difficult ones. The original Team Phantom took the afternoons. At night they alternated turns, so if someone patrolled a night, they had the next night off.
It had barely been more than a week of the routine and the new members of their team were already starting to realise just how much work really went into ghost hunting. It really did help, spreading the load evenly like that, but even with everyone pitching in, Danny was still exhausted. It turned out that leading multiple teams meant you had to do a lot of running around. Everyone agreed that a real break was what he needed.
“You need a break? That’s easy, you should try travel!” said Dani as she popped a chip into her mouth. Sam and Valerie nodded in agreement.
The teens were chilling in the Fenton’s living room after school. They were all there, well, almost all –Tucker couldn’t hang out because he was busy with Mayor Business™. Sam and Valerie were on the couch, with Dani sitting cross-legged on the floor next to them and Jazz was curled up in the armchair reading a book.
Danny paced from one side of the room to the other, unable to sit still. “As much as I like the sound of that, I can’t. I thought you guys of all people would understand… I can’t just leave, Amity Park isn’t going to defend itself!”
“Danny, I love you and all, but all this pacing is starting to make me dizzy.” Sam patted the empty seat next to her, an unspoken invitation.
Danny paused in his steps, taking in the worried faces of his loved ones before sitting down on the edge of the cushion. His foot bounced nervously, his body a coiled spring.
Sam sighed before continuing. “What if, I don’t know... Valerie here could,” Sam gestured to the girl next to her, “protect it for a while… Your parents could even close the portal, you know, temporarily…” she suggested gently. They had talked about this before, about Danny taking a break. Maybe this time he would listen.
“I don’t know Sam… Not that it wouldn’t be nice– I mean, it sounds so easy when you put it like that.” said Danny, rubbing the back of his neck. And it wasn’t like he didn’t want to take a vacation, he just wasn’t sure if he knew how to anymore. Any other time that they went on holidays, it was to places nearby or the portal was locked, or both. He was always on call, Amity Park was never without a protector.
“Hey, I would be down for that,” Valerie chimed in. “And if your parents closed the portal while you're away, it wouldn’t even be that bad.” After all, she knew she could take care of the ghosts that used natural portals or found other ways to escape the Ghost Zone and torment the people of Amity Park.
“No, I guess it wouldn’t be too bad… And we have done that in the past… but…” Danny’s mind drifted back to the last time the portal was closed for a longer period. The GIW had almost managed to destroy the Ghost Zone, he couldn’t let something like that happen again.
“No ‘buts,’ Mister, you need a real break. No fights. That means no ghosts.” Sam crossed her arms with a stubborn look. “No portal, no ghosts. It’s that simple.”  She remembered the last time they locked the portal, everything had turned out alright then. It had been nice and peaceful, no ghosts at all! Or almost no ghosts, she couldn’t quite recall the specifics at that moment, but everything had turned out okay in the end.
Just as Danny was about to retort, Maddie walked into the living room. “Hey kids, what are you talking about in here?” she asked playfully.
In her hands was a plate of freshly baked cookies, still hot from the oven. The kids had been meeting up at their house more and more lately, and while the Nasty Burger would always be their favourite hangout, it was easier for them to talk about ghosts more openly here. Maddie loved having them around, and she always tried to keep their favourite snacks on hand.
She offered the plate to Valerie first.
“Oh, thanks Mrs. Fenton!” she said after taking one. Valerie had quickly learned to love Maddie’s homemade cookies.
“Thanks, Mom!” Danny and Jazz said at the same time, both reaching for the same cookie. Danny glared at his sister while she just rolled her eyes and then they each grabbed a different one.
When it was Sam’s turn to take one, she simply shook her head with a polite, “No, thank you.” She wasn’t sure if this batch was vegan or not.
Mrs. Fenton seemed to realise her mistake and drew back the plate, winking at Sam, “Don’t worry, dear, I have some special ones for you in the kitchen. I’ll bring them out in a moment.” Lastly, she offered the plate to Dani before setting it on the coffee table.
“Thanks, Maddie!” said Dani, biting into the cookie. “Well… we were talking about closing the portal while Danny is away.”
“What?” Maddie’s step faltered briefly as she walked back to the kitchen to grab the second batch of cookies. “And where exactly is Danny going?” she asked, offering one to Sam. She was getting better at those vegan recipes, if she did say so herself.
Sam accepted the cookie with a smile this time.
“We’re trying to tell him that he needs a real vacation. He needs to travel, to get away from Amity Park this summer...” Valerie was the one to answer.
“Oh...” said Maddie with dawning realisation, then, more dreamily, “A real break… that would be nice.” She put the plate of vegan cookies down next to the first one.
“Yeah, a real break,” Jazz finally spoke. She turned to address her brother and sister, “Now that everyone here knows about you two, and Valerie here is more than capable of stopping all kinds of ghosts, even you…”
“Hey!” protested Danny, raising his hands in mock offence.
“No, no, she’s right. I’ve kicked your scrawny ghost butt plenty of times,” said Valerie, with a teasing grin.
“Oooh! Now that’s something I have got to see!” Dani joined in the ribbing.
Jazz cleared her throat, “As I was saying little brother… You know what I mean. She’s good, very good, maybe even the best on our team. She certainly gives you a run for your money.”
“Yeah, okay…” said Danny. He was still insecure about it, but Jazz had a point.
“Listen, this whole year has been one thing after another, right?” she asked.
Everyone nodded.
“So, everyone is exhausted, right?”
Again everyone nodded, wondering where she was going with this.
“And you know that breaks are supposedly for breaks, right?” asked Jazz one more time, getting a last round of nods.
“Tell that to the ghosts,” Danny huffed. A real break was nice in theory, but it was easier said than done when you had the restless dead attacking the city every day.
“And that’s why I’m here, dummy,” said Valerie, teasing just a bit. “You don’t have to do everything by yourself, you know.”
“Me too!” said Dani, grinning “That’s why I said travel, and far away, and I mean it! Far, far, far away… So far that none of the ghosts will be able to bother you.”
“Definitely!” Jazz agreed. “It has to be far enough that you wouldn't even try to fly yourself back here.” She knew full well that her brother would try something like that if they let him.
“How far does that need to be?” Maddie wondered aloud. She knew that her son was strong, but just how strong was he? What kind of flight range did he have? How was his stamina? Her scientific mind whirled with questions.
“Well,” said Sam, almost without thinking, “once we travelled across the whole country in three days–”
“You did what?” Maddie cried, cutting off Sam. She doesn’t remember Phantom or any of them travelling that far.
“I mean, I’ve travelled all over the country, too…  but it took me a lot longer than that. You know, stopping here and there… but… meh.” Dani shrugged. When she told them that she had been places, she meant it.
Maddie looked at her youngest with new eyes. The United States was a big place, to think that Dani had been out there all alone… If they had known, they would have taken her in a long time ago.
“We had transportation,” Sam explained, breaking Maddie out of her musings. “It wasn’t just Danny flying us. And it was an emergency.” She had forgotten that nobody actually knew about that, since Danny used the Reality Gauntlet to make it so nobody but the three of them remembered it.
“Then we should probably try going even further, visit someplace outside the country… like Europe or South America… although it’s getting cold down there now, so it wouldn’t be as much of a summer vacation…” mused Jazz, thinking of different options. While the northern hemisphere was getting hotter, the southern half of the planet was gearing up for winter. She supposed it might be a nice escape from the sweltering heat though.
“Europe could be nice… We could finally go to Paris… ” said Maddie, considering the possibilities and letting herself become cautiously excited over what she thought was an old, dead dream of her high school self. She also conveniently forgot about the apparent cross-country trip her son and his friends had been on.
“Woah, woah, woah!” Danny put his hands up as if to ward off this topic of conversation. “Are you guys for real?” Everyone seemed to be on board with just leaving the country, and Amity Park, unprotected. This was getting out of control.
“Well, yeah, of course we are!” Valerie said. “It’s not just your sister who’s worried about you, we are too. We’re your friends, Danny, we care about you. And even with us helping you,  you still look like you’re about to pass out all the time. You need a break, a real one. I have to agree with Dani, travel would be good for you. Paris, like your mom suggested, should be lovely right now, and it’s nice and far.”
Valerie smiled. She could very easily imagine how beautiful Europe would be this time of year. There was once a time in her life when she could have easily taken a trip there, back before her dad lost his job. A few months ago she would have blamed her turn of fate on the ghost boy, but now that she had learned the whole truth, including about Cujo… Well she blamed her dad’s company for that. Why they would just “get rid of” the dogs like that, is a mystery and cruelty.
“You know what, Paris sounds perfect! I could probably pay for everyone to go on the trip, even you Val,” Sam offered. The two girls hadn’t always gotten along, but since Valerie had officially joined the team, Sam had been putting in the effort to make her feel included.
“What?” Danny’s voice had an edge of panic to it as he looked between everyone in the room. They all seemed to be seriously considering this trip, and not only that, they looked happy about it.
“Or not...” said Sam, remembering how her boyfriend could be sometimes.
“Better not, or Mr. I-won’t-leave-Amity-if-it-isn’t-protected here will never relax,” said Valerie pointing her thumb at Danny. As much as she appreciated the offer, she couldn’t accept it. A trip like that would be expensive, and she wasn’t going to let Sam pay for everything, as nice as that sounded.
“You’re no fun, Danny!” Dani pouted. “How about this: you relax, I stay.” She put a hand to her chest, proudly. After all, she was a Phantom, too.
“What? No! You’re family, Dani! You should come too! We- we only just found you…” he ran a hand through his hair, causing it to stick up wildly. Then, unable to sit still any longer, he abruptly stood and resumed his pacing.
“I know, I know,” Dani replied, trying to calm her brother. “But, look, I’ve had plenty of travelling lately, I wouldn’t mind being a bit of a homebody for once. And, no offence, but I could use a break from you guys. Don’t get me wrong! I love you and all, but this family is kinda overwhelming, especially when you’re used to being on your own.”
“Danny darling, you’re pacing again,” Maddie pointed out gently. “It’s very sweet that you want your little sister to go with you, and that you trust Valerie to protect Amity Park while you’re gone, but I was about to suggest that you kids go and your father and I stay behind instead. Even with the portal closed, which yes, is a good idea, someone should stay, you know, to monitor it… make sure the Ecto-Filtrator is still good…”
“I can monitor the portal!” Dani excitedly cut in. “It can’t be that different from Vlad’s, right? And it was one of my chores to change the Ecto-Filtrator. After his first portal blew up his mansion, he was really paranoid about that sort of thing, so he made sure I knew how to do it! You and Jack should get to go, you were just talking about how you’ve always wanted to go to Paris, and you guys have been working really hard! You deserve a vacation.”
“Then it’s decided,” Jazz clapped her hands authoritatively. “Valerie and Dani will stay behind to keep an eye on Amity Park and the portal, and the rest of us will take a much needed vacation. Now, I’m going to go find Dad and let him know the plan.” Jazz left her book on the side table, her reading had been non-existent since the casual planning started- well, not that casual. Everyone needed a break, including her. She headed for the lab in search of Jack, muttering to herself about passports.
“Great idea sweetheart!” Maddie called after her. “Tell your father that if he doesn’t come up here to finish discussing this together, he won’t get any cookies!”
“Okay, Mom!” Jazz shouted back and kept going down the stairs.
In a quieter voice, Maddie addressed the rest of the kids, “I’m going to go grab my laptop from upstairs so we can start checking everything that we need...”
Just like that, Danny, Dani, Sam and Valerie were left alone in the living room.
Danny finally stopped pacing, sighed, and sat back down next to Sam. The girls exchanged relieved looks, it seemed like Danny had finally accepted the possibility of travelling for real.
“He wouldn’t get any cookies?” Valerie asked softly. She looked down at the plate. Surely Mrs. Fenton didn’t think they would eat all these before Mr. Fenton could get any, right?
“It’ll help get his attention...” Danny explained, rubbing the back of his neck self consciously. Sam nodded along, after all she had known the family for many years and was well aware that sweets were the best way to get through to the man.
“Ah!” said Valerie, an understanding smile lit up her face. She had seen Mr. Fenton working while eating before, and at that time he had been helping build a very important machine that saved the world.
“Any snack works, but fudge is his favourite...” Dani added, feeling embarrassed as well. She wished Jazz was there too. It wasn’t fair that she got to miss out on the kind of quality sibling bonding that happened over being embarrassed by their parents.
“I’ve had your mom’s fudge, I can see why it’s his favourite!” Valerie giggled. “Okay, while we wait for the others to get back, I’m gonna call my dad and let him know that we’ll be having Dani over for a while.” That could be a good option to help out. She picked up her cell phone and began to dial.
“But I can stay here...” Dani tried to protest. She had just started thinking of her room as her room, instead of the guest room. She had finally gotten used to living there and thinking of FentonWorks as her home. She was also used to being on her own, fending for herself, staying where it is home shouldn’t be that much of a problem by comparison.
“Normally, yes, but with the FBI and CPS on the Fenton’s case… I don’t think that’s a good idea...” said Sam delicately, knowing that it's a sensitive topic, especially for Danny.
Danny made a thoughtful face, looking a bit disappointed with himself, but didn't comment. That interview with both representatives defending his parents was a wild time.
“Oh right, you guys told me about that… ” said Dani, remembering the explanation the Fentons had given her not that long ago. They had gone over the whole interview with her, from start to finish, it had played a major role in Vlad’s sentencing.
Meanwhile, Valerie was remembering a similar, though less detailed, explanation. She set her phone back down, realising she’d gotten ahead of herself. Even though her suggestion wasn’t a bad idea, they should decide what to do first, as a group.
“All right, we’re here!” said Jazz. Everyone turned their attention to the doorway as she walked in with Jack not far behind.
“Same here,” said Maddie, laptop in hand. “I almost couldn’t find it! It was under a pile of laundry for some reason.” She shrugged.
Jack sent her a guilty look, then, noticing the plates of cookies, made a beeline for the coffee table. "So, kids, Jazzy–pants here has been telling me that you’re planning a little trip!" He picked up one of the vegan cookies and took a bite, making a face when he tasted it.
"Here, dear," said Maddie, giving him the tray of regular cookies. "Actually honey, it's more like a proper holiday. You know, we haven't had one in a very loooong time." She opened up the laptop and turned it on.
"Mr. Fenton, Danny needs a vacation, a real one, all of you do. When was the last time you had one, a real–real one?" asked Sam, crossing her arms and fixing the man with a stern glare. She knew very well that the last proper holiday was supposed to be the trip that didn’t happen, the one that they cancelled at the last minute.
"Well… we went camping, and me and Danno went on that fishing trip and, uh… Hey Mads, where did you and Danny go that last time? Or was it the time before that one…" Jack muttered as he drummed his fingers against his chin. He was beginning to confuse himself.
"Jack, those trips were more like short bonding time with the kids, not a real family vacation. And in those cases it was just me or you with one of the kids… well, except that time we went camping… and that was…" Maddie looked at Danny, asking silent permission to talk about it. She knew that hadn’t been their best moment as parents, the way they hadn’t believed in Danny. In the end it was just a ghost problem, a ghost that only kids could see. That fact had been hard to learn and accept.
Danny sighed, "Don't remind me, please. Even Jazz thought I was crazy." He ran a hand down his face.
"In my defence, I didn't even know he existed, let alone the fact that we wouldn't be able to see him!" said Jazz, trying to defend herself again after all these months.
"Well, maybe if you’d acted your age…" Danny crossed his arms and sent Jazz a bit of a mean glare.
"Danny… It's alright now. Let it go," said Sam. She quickly grabbed Danny's hand and gave it a squeeze, trying to stop the argument before it could really get going.
Valerie was the one to break the awkward silence, "All right, so… back to planning?" she  asked. She didn’t know the full story, but she could tell that it was getting personal, and fast.
"Oh yeah!" said Jack enthusiastically. He turned to the others with a huge grin, "So, Paris you said?"
"Well, yes honey, I mean… I’ve always wanted to go there… and it's too far away for Danny to try to fly back. You know how he is." Maddie explained.
"You could fly here from France?!" Jack asked, excitedly. He never thought that would be possible even for Danny. He was about to ask a million questions when Maddie cut in.
"Jack, dear… the idea is for him not to do that. It’s supposed to be a time for us to relax," she said.
"Well…" said Danny after a couple of seconds of silence, a thoughtful look on his face.
"Don't encourage him, Danny,” Jazz scolded. “You know he won't stop if you get him going." She knew well enough how that would go and then they’d never get this vacation planned. Boys. If it weren’t for her and her mom, they’d never get anything done.
"I'm not! I'm just saying… I don't know… maybe?" He shrugged. They hadn’t tested his abilities in a very long time and he’d gotten stronger since then, so it could be possible, but he didn’t have a good answer for his dad.
"Look, I wanna know how strong I am just as bad as you do,” Dani piped up, “and there will be plenty of time for that later, but you’re so worn out that any tests you guys run won’t really be accurate anyway, you know? And we’ve got more important things to think about right now, like figuring out where I'm staying," she said pointedly.
"Well, I know that my dad won't mind at all if Dani stays with us while you’re gone,” Valerie said. She pulled out her phone to check her messages. “But I should probably wait to call and let him know until after you guys know for sure when you are going… and all that.” She put her phone back into her pocket.
"If you won’t let me pay for the trip, at least let me pay for your hotel,” Sam blurted out. She put her hand up to stop Danny, “And before you say anything, I could even go with you if I paid for it. My parents wouldn’t mind. They’re always trying to get me to go on fancy rich people trips to Europe anyway. I already have a passport, and it won’t be hard to get the rest of the paperwork taken care of. I have it covered. It would be just like the last vacation when I got to travel with you guys… Although, that never really happened did it? Sometimes I really hate that we used that ‘reset button’…" She sighed. Yet another reason for them to take this trip, Danny needed to have a real break, he deserved it. If that meant using a good portion of her family money, so be it. It wasn’t like they couldn’t afford it.
"What? Do I want to know?" asked Valerie, confused by Sam’s statement. She didn’t remember hearing about a trip that never happened. If they had mentioned it before, she had definitely forgotten.
"No, you don’t. Trust me…" said Jazz. She waved her hand, “Alternate reality. You’ll just get a headache.” She had learned what happened and it still confused her. She didn't know which deadly situation –specifically for her family– was the worst. Maybe it was the one where they all died, although she could swear that the other one with reality changing couldn't be much better.
"Sam, sweety, you don’t have to do that! We’re more than capable of paying for the trip ourselves,” Maddie said, trying to steer the conversation back to planning. They were so easily sidetracked… “but thank you for offering.”
"Oh, it’s really no trouble at all, Mrs. Fenton! And I want to do everything I can to help Danny," she replied with a smile.
Maddie paused to consider Sam’s offer, she knew how determined the girl could be when it came to doing what she thought was right. They would probably end up allowing the hotel payment just because this seemed like something she was very passionate about and probably wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.
“Are you sure your parents would be okay with that?” Jazz asked pointedly. She knew that Sam held a certain amount of disdain for her family’s wealth, and had a bit of a personal vendetta with her parents.
“I’m sure,” said Sam. “This is one thing they’ll agree to no problem. Well... I might have to dress up and take some pictures for the family social media while we’re there, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.”
"We could take some pictures together," said Danny, suddenly warming up to the idea of travelling. “Paris is called the City of Love, after all.”
Jazz cleared her throat, getting them back on track. "So... Mom. Have you looked up plane tickets to Paris yet?" she asked, gesturing to the laptop.
"You guys will probably need to fly out of Chicago," said Valerie. That’s what she’d always had to do since the Amity Park airport only handled domestic flights.
"She’s right, you know," confirmed Sam.
"So, we’ll need to fly out of Amity and then take a connecting flight to Paris…" mused Jazz, thinking aloud.
"That's what the online booking system says," announced Maddie, reading her findings from the laptop. There wasn’t even an option for a direct flight from Amity to Paris, all the options include travelling to the O’Hare International Airport in Chicago first, as that was the closest international airport.
"Wait… is everyone here going?" Jack asked, completely lost. He understood that they all needed a break, but nothing else other than the possibility of his whole family going to Paris–probably a sign that he needed a break, too.
"No, honey,” Maddie replied gently. “Dani is staying behind with Valerie to keep an eye on Amity Park and the portal, even though we’re going to be closing it while we’re gone. Danny has made it very clear that he wouldn’t be able to really relax if we left the city completely unprotected.”
"Oh, right… that makes sense… I think…" said Jack, processing the information. He was a bit unsure about just the four of them going, but looking around, everyone else seemed to be in agreement. He hoped it all worked out for the best.
“We’ll need to round up everyone’s passports…” Maddie said absentmindedly as she continued researching for their trip, then she realised something. “Oh, I suppose it’s good that Dani volunteered to stay, her passport hasn’t even come in yet.”
Danny was feeling a bit more confident about travelling, but he was still worried about Dani. He turned to Valerie, “Are you sure it’s alright for Dani to stay at your house?" he asked. He knew it would be okay with Valerie, but what about Valerie’s dad?
"Don't worry! My dad won't mind at all! Actually, he would probably be thrilled to know I'm bringing friends over, you know? Or just a friend…" Valerie said with a bit of a bittersweet smile. After she had been kicked out of the A-listers, she had thought she’d never have friends again. She shook herself out of her thoughts and winked at Danny, “Also, you know, he knows.”
“And not only about Danny,” said Jazz, “but about yourself as well. And that’s saying something. Nobody knows about you. Well, other than us, of course!"
"But he doesn't know about me," said Dani. How would they explain the fact that she is also a halfa, and not just any halfa, but Danny’s clone. Although, it wasn’t like anyone was going to say that detail, right?
"Don't worry, Dani, Valerie's dad should be all right. He knows about Danny because he was there helping with the machine in Antarctica," Sam explained what Valerie had implied. She knew that Dani didn’t know exactly how many people, or who, were in the know about Danny’s secret. They weren’t thrilled that a bunch of people knew, but it was in the past now.
"Exactly!" said Valerie. “My dad’s seen some pretty crazy stuff. I mean, he’s been dealing with my ghost hunting for a while now… It takes a lot to faze him, you’ll be fine.”
"So,” said Maddie with a single clap of her hands, bringing the attention of the kids back to planning, “considering that you kids are going to be on summer vacation in about a week, we should get our tickets for next Monday… That will give us the weekend to pack." She typed in the new travel date. It also helped that flights were cheaper during the week. They had been saving money up for a big trip like this for years, but the less they had to spend on plane tickets, the more they could do once they got to Paris.
“Oh, that’s a brilliant idea, Mads!” said Jack, looking over her shoulder so he could see the laptop screen.
“But we still don’t know if Valerie's dad would be all right with Dani staying with them… And Dani is family too…” Danny tried one more time; it was a weak argument, even to his own ears. Family was important, but sadly without a passport Dani wouldn’t be able to travel anyway. He was going to miss her a lot, a fact he would be keeping to himself, otherwise his sisters would tease him endlessly.
“Oh, Danny-boy, it’s all right, your mother and I will call him afterwards, but your mom here is finding good offers to go to Paris right now. Although I don’t get why it has to be with a connection...” Jack wondered aloud looking between Danny and the laptop screen, taking a bite out of another cookie. He hadn’t been paying much attention during that part of the conversation.
Maddie sighed, “Jack, dear, you know Amity Park doesn’t have an international terminal,” she reminded him, “and please don’t get crumbs on the keyboard.”
“Yeah, Mr. Fenton, the closest international airport is O’Hare in Chicago,” Sam picked up the explanation. “Did you know that it sees more international flights than any other airport not on the East or West Coast?”
“How do you know that?” asked Valerie, raising an eyebrow.
“Probably because her parents like to travel a lot, and maybe they mentioned it before...” Danny trailed off, worried that it would sound like he was bragging about Sam’s family. He knew Valerie wasn’t as well off as she used to be, and he didn’t want to sound rude.
“It’s true,” Sam confirmed with a shrug, “and little pamphlets full of fun facts are better company than my parents when their flight’s been delayed.”
“Oh… ” said Valerie. Even though she had just offered to pay for the Fenton’s hotel a few minutes ago, it was so easy to forget that Sam actually had money, or, well, her family did. She never acted rich, and it was hard to tell from looking at her, what with the whole punk goth thing she had going on. Valerie wouldn’t judge her for being rich anyway, but still.
“All right!” exclaimed Maddie, drawing the kids’ attention away from their fun facts about travelling. “I think I found something! There’s a flight from Amity Park to Chicago at 6:00am Monday morning, then a connecting flight at 8:00am that will take us to Paris!”
“That sounds perfect!” Sam commented. In the past, before they had finished the Amity Park Airport, it had been a bus trip to Chicago, and a much earlier morning.
“Doesn’t it?” Maddie said, very pleased with herself. She continued reading the travel details to the others, “The flight from here to Chicago is about a half hour in the air, so even if we have a delay, that gives us plenty of time to get from one gate to the other once we land at O’Hare… And then it’s another eight hours to Paris… Which means we’ll get there around 11:00 pm Central European Time!
“Wait,” Danny said excitedly, “I could fly us to Chicago!” He knew that it would be so much easier and faster, and then they wouldn’t have to worry about their plane being delayed.
“No!” Jazz cried, a bit louder than necessary. She pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed, “Danny, the whole point of this trip is for you to have a break. Doing crazy things like flying a family of four across the state is not taking a break. So please, give the powers a rest, okay?” She looked at him with pleading eyes.
“I hate to agree with Jazz,” Sam ignored the other girl’s shout of indignation, “but, Danny, you have been doing a lot lately, even now that you have help.” She squeezed his hand a bit and gave him a worried smile.
“Yep!” said Dani, dramatically draping herself over his shoulders. “You’re like, the king of micromanaging, bro. You need to learn to take a chill pill.” She hid her worry behind a mask of teasing. She had been standing for a little while now, but she didn’t think Danny had seen her until she laid herself on him.
“Et tu, Dani?” Danny asked in mock offence. She’d only been living with them for a short time, and she was already on his back as much as Jazz, and even more literally.
“Oh, wow...” Valerie murmured. She understood that he was worried about Dani, but she seemed happy. Valerie wasn’t really sure what was bothering him so much.
“Oh, c’mon Danny, don’t be like that! We’re not ganging up on you just because we feel like it, you really do need a break. You know Dani can take care of herself, and she’s learned a lot about taking care of others from watching you. You’ve done so much for her, and for everyone here,” Sam gave his hand another squeeze, “let us do this for you.” She knew that Danny needed a bit of a push to let go of the extra worry.
“She’s right, you know,” said Jazz, giving him a small smile.
“Yeah, Danny, I know I'll be alright, and I’m super excited to show you just how much I’ve learned! Mom and Dad will call Mr. Gray—”
Dani was interrupted by Maddie and Jack gasping loudly.
“What? What did I say?” she asked, confused at their reaction.
“You called them ‘Mom and Dad’… without even thinking about it...” Jazz said proudly. Dani didn’t usually call them that, but when she did, she had to make an effort at it.
“Oh… yeah I guess I did!” Dani said and smiled a big smile. She hadn’t even noticed, but at some point she’d stopped thinking of them as ‘Jack and Maddie’ and started thinking of them as her parents. The Fentons had shown her what family really means, and that was so special to her.
Danny finally smiled too, “All right, I guess we’re going to Paris! Mom, Dad call Mr. Gray now please...” That way the last of his worries would finally disappear.
“With pleasure,” Maddie wiped away a happy tear, “but we should finish booking our flights at least before we talk with him.” She turned her attention back to the laptop.
"Good idea Mads!" added Jack, wiping away a tear of his own and looking at the laptop screen, too.
"If you find a good offer, take it before it changes. My parents complain about that all the time; you’ll never find the same offer twice, but might find a similar one if you’re lucky. Not that they need it anyway, but you know how they are…" Sam rolled her eyes with a shrug.
"Mmmmm… true,” Maddie hummed, keeping her eyes fixed on the screen. “We should have searched on incognito, at least we could have compared prices better…" She knew what Sam was referring to, the theory that airlines use cookies to track which flights you look for, increasing their prices.
"But what we have here seems like a reasonable price, right?" asked Jack, pointing out the details of the flight on the screen.
"No to interrupt or anything,” Valerie cut in, “but do you guys have any idea how long you’ll be gone?" She had texted her dad while the Fentons were focused on the travel details. He didn’t have a problem with Dani staying with them, but wanted to know how long they would be looking after her.
"I thought you said it would be alright!" Danny cried out, his anxiety spiking again.
"It is, but it would still be nice to know ahead of time," Valerie snapped. She could tell by his tone that he was worrying again, but he was really starting to test her patience.
"Oh, right… sorry." Danny rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
"It's alright," Valerie sighed, she felt a bit bad for letting her temper get the better of her.
"I’m so sorry, Valerie, we completely forgot about that!“ Maddie gave her an apologetic look. “Well, we’re leaving next Monday, and we’ll want to have at least a week there…"
Danny blinked at that information. "You haven't decided how long we’ll be gone yet?" he asked incredulously.
"Well, we have a couple of tabs open to compare prices for that…” Maddie said, Jack nodding along, “and it looks like it would be worth it to take two weeks." After all it seemed like there wasn't that much of a difference between some of the prices, and it looked like round trip tickets were slightly better than one way.
"Oh… yeah, that sounds okay…" said Danny. At least two weeks didn’t sound that bad, even though he didn’t know what he was supposed to do for that long, not yet at least.
"Then that's the plan!" Maddie nodded decisively and clicked ‘confirm’ to purchase four round trip tickets.
"We’ll be getting back to Amity Park late on a Friday night, two weeks into your summer break," Jack informed the kids. That is, if he was reading along right.
"Great, now we have an answer for Valerie’s Dad!" Jazz said with a smile. She knew that taking a two week trip to Europe wouldn’t leave her with much time to finish getting ready for university, but it was going to be worth it.
"Yeah, that works!" said Valerie, typing up a text to her father with the more detailed plan.
And just like that, Maddie and Jack booked their flights from Amity to Chicago, and from there to Paris, France. The Fenton family was going on an adventure, and they couldn’t be more excited. Before they could celebrate, however, they needed to talk with Valerie’s father, after all, they needed to finish sorting out Dani’s stay.
Thankfully, Mr. Gray was pleased to have her over, Danny had done so much to help their family in the past, and he was more than happy to return the favour. Although he insisted that wasn't the only reason that he accepted, he was also very proud of his daughter for making a new friend. It was just like Valerie had said it would be.
With all the big things sorted out, everyone started to go their separate ways. Jazz returned to her book after helping Maddie find their passports. Valerie announced that it was about time for her to head home, it was getting late, and she would need to rest up for the coming days. She gave a final wave to Dani at the door, she would be keeping a close eye on the girl, even if she thought she was too old for it. And finally, Dani was left to her imagination, already fantasising about taking care of the house and fighting the ghosts that, if any, came with a closed portal.
Sam gently reminded Danny that they had homework, forgotten in favour of planning an international trip, and the two of them decided to go up to his room to work on it. She took his hand as they climbed the stairs, giving him a warm smile. She was so glad that he had finally relaxed and warmed up to the whole travel idea.
Jack and Maddie began looking for hotels that were in their budget, but paused their search to cook dinner.
That night, after the meal, Sam was invited to stay over – it wouldn’t be the first time either, even though those old times were with Tucker in the room too and they had all been just friends. Sam did accept the offer of course, after all sleeping there wasn't new for her, and she always loved to just enjoy spending extra time with Danny. To be continued :D :D

Scooby Doo x Goosebumps
This better be some universal foreshadowing that we're getting a Scooby and Goosebumps crossover or I'll be so mad!
This week while I was in Barnes & Nobles I came across this and almost cried from joy. I'm a huge fan of Scooby- Doo and Goosebumps so this was just perfection. I know this was most likely a setup from leftover Halloween stuff, but I love it (also give the person a raise for the idea)!
Headcanon Time/ Scooby Doo x Goosebumps AU:
The Mystery INC is called by an anonymous benefactor to help find some missing people (mainly children) in a small town.
The gang jump to it since they love mysterious, but they love helping people more.
Once they arrive in the small town they begin investigating and hear strange stories around town for example: an evil dummy coming to life, a witch who grants terrible wishes, haunted mask that attach to people and turn them evil, cameras that predict omens, and so on.
At first the gang thinks it's another hoax and real estate plot, but the stories sound eerily familiar like something out of a 1980's -90's children horror book series.
The townsfolk don't trust Scooby - Doo due to his abilities to do things a normal dog can't possible do: speak human language, cook, dance, the works. This hurts Scooby and makes him start doubting himself (how dare you townspeople!).
The gang then investigate a writer who half the town think is responsible due to the kidnappings are similar to the horror novels he writes. When they meet the writer it's none other than *drumroll* R.L. Stine (who plays himself in the movie fanfic).
Mystery Inc: It's famous children's horror writer, R.L. Stine!
At first Velma is excited to meet the famous R.L.Stine, but after her encounter with Ben Ravencroft, she fears he'll be the same as Ben. Until -
R.L. Stine: So, you've met Mr. Ravencroft. How was he?
Velma: (Gloomy) I was excited to finally meet one of my favorite writers. Only to be disappointed when he turned out to be evil.
R.L. Stine: Yep! I met him before, he's a huge jerk! You should've met Stephen King aka the 'Adult horror writer of Goosebumps'.
Velma: *Perks up*
R.L. Stine reveals that he called them, and he is the cause of what is going on due to bunch of works he never finished/ can't find the ending for a current story from his old typewriter he had since he was nine, and if he can't come up with an ending soon things will get worse. The gang don't believe him and think all the rumors around town about him being the kidnapper are getting to him. The gang stays with R.L. Stine's place during the investigation and Scooby and Shaggy come across certain items from the Goosebumps, Fear Street, The Nightmare Room, and The Haunting Hour franchise. Scooby and Shaggy come across Slappy in his inactive state and unknowingly read his spell.
The next day Stine's home is trashed with a message in blood (or ketchup) reading: SLAPPY'S BACK!
Slappy (played by Jack Black or Cal Dodd) plans to possess Stein to bring a new era of horror to the world. He's been bringing all the monster/villains to life and the real world and framing Stine for the crimes.
Slappy: Hello papa, I'm back!
R.L. Stine: Slappy!
Slappy: That's right. Ooh! I see you got some friends and their dog.
Scooby: Rog rhere?
Shaggy: Check it out Scoob, the puppet really is haunted.
Daphne: Yeah, I guess we were due an evil dummy sooner or later.
Slappy: (Flabbergasted) W-what? You're not scared of me?
Fred: No offense Mr. Slappy, but we've dealt with real monsters before.
Velma: Zombies, cat-people cultist, witch's ghost, aliens, virus monsters, the list goes on and on.
Shaggy: Me and Scooby here even taught at a monster school once.
Scooby: Reah!
Slappy: Wow! I just met you people and I hate you already.
The gang and Stine recruit now adults Carly Beth, Danny Anderson, Hannah Fairchild (ghost child), and a few others to help end Slappy's reign.
There's an epic battle and the find a way to defeat Slappy and return everything to normal. R.L. Stein and the gang are cleared of all charges and are now heroes to the town!
It wouldn't be Goosebumps without a twist - Slappy survives and with his own typewriter he begins writing his own series. His first book is of the original Goosebumps series with an image of Mystery Inc. and R.L. Stine in the Mystery Machine with looks of terror on their faces.

"He's gonna sell it all 'cause he's Danny Phantom"
that's so fucking funny, i hate how much i love this!! i have made it way too long, rip to my five sentence rule - there's such a goldmine of content here lmao
👻
"I'd say it's been going on for... about a month now?"
"Two months," Sam interrupts. "It started just after your parents came in, remember?"
"Oh, Ancients, yeah, them. I can't believe I forgot that."
"Yeah, dude, it's thanks to them that this all started!" Tucker's practically vibrating in his chair, far too cheerful about the whole thing.
"Yeah," Danny sighs, looking directly into the camera. "Thank you, Mom and Dad. Thank you very much."
"Danny's parents are ghost hunters, which, as you can imagine, got Michael very excited. And very into ghosts. He accused Meredith of haunting him the other day, now he keeps spraying her with holy water and yelling 'Begone, foul spectre!' He's really taken a liking to Danny's parents."
"Can't imagine why."
"Yeah, and then—then—" Tucker dissolves into laughter, wheezing as he tries to catch his breath. "Then he brings in that personal trainer! In her yoga pants and crop top, with a pilates ball and everything! Sends her over to—to see Meredith, and then—oh Ancients—then when the woman leaves and Meredith is still there, he locks himself in his office and blasts the Lord's Prayer!"
"We think he mispelt exorcist. Hired someone in exercise instead."
"Exorcists are all phoney, anyway! And PTs are only slightly less phoney, so make sure you do your research and get someone that actually knows what they're doing before you commit, kids." Danny says, pointing down the camera. "That's how I got so jacked."
Both Sam and Tucker share a look before bursting into even more laughter. With a soft smack on his arm, Sam can't help but tease, "Please, you're 5'4" and look like you'd break your arm if you ever picked up a ream of paper. No wonder your sales are so low."
"Wow, that's so rude. I can't believe you'd do me like that. I'm 5'4 and a half, thank you."
"That's right, babe, and we love you for it."
Their laughter peters out and the trio slowly pull themselves upright in their chairs, remembering the cameras and the story they're meant to be telling.
"Honestly, thanks to these guys, the past few weeks have been a nightmare."
"Now who's being rude? At least this is one of those fun nightmares that you can laugh about later."
"Nope, this is a normal nightmare that everytime you think you've woken up from, you get back to work and see your boss dressed up in a hazmat suit that your parents sent him and realise that actually, maybe the real nightmare was the work colleagues you made along the way."
"Oh. Yeah, that sounds about right, sorry, Danny."
Tucker puts him on the shoulder and stays silent for a grand total of five seconds before turning back to the camera with an ecstatic grin on his face and a deep breath.
"Anyway, everytime one of us goes into Michael's office, we sneak something off his desk and blame ghosts. Sam's hidden some speakers in the ceiling that play recordings of her crying on a timer."
"I should have been an actor. I also got some of the warehouse guys in on it, so everytime Michael goes down there they'll throw a box or two around and make some ghostly moans. Didn't even ask why, they just agreed."
Sam's back to looking very proud of herself. Danny's back to cradling his head in his hands.
"Is that why Boxy's been about lately? Guys, seriously? I need to sleep!"
The only answer he gets is a shrug as Tucker turns back to the camera.
"Oh, and I've also installed a script on his computer so that whenever he types the word 'ghosts'—or 'goats', again, he's not really great at typing—his screen starts getting all staticky and closes down. He shrieks everytime, it's so funny!"
"I wonder if he'll go with a different PT to exercise his office next?"
"We should suggest P90X—your office ghost free in three months or your money back!"
Sam and Tucker are both burst into laughter, sinking deeper into their chairs as Danny just shakes his head. It takes a solid minute for the two to calm down, and more than one pointed question from the producer to get them back on track.
"Where's it going? Does it really have to go anywhere? Can't the joy of the bit be destination enough?"
"I wish it would go away," Danny groans, still not lifting his head. "I get enough of ghost hunting in my free time, I don't need it here, too."
"I've changed Danny's employee file to list him as deceased just to see how long it takes Michael to notice."
"Seriously? Tucker, really? That's—"
"Genius, Tuck. And then we can be all: 'Michael, what are you on about? Danny's been dead for three years!' I can't wait to see his face!"
"You guys know that Dwight's going to actually try to end me if he finds out, right? Pretty sure Dad slipped him a Fenton blaster before he left."
"You know what they say," Tucker says, grinning directly down the camera, "'Gaslight, Ghost them, Get pranked, boss!'"

I have fallen down the ultimate spiral. Usually falling into fandoms are ones that I know well or that I will know well because I just found an interest in them. This time, this time I've fallen into the whole dc x dp. I have no idea how or why the crossover is a thing, BUT I LOVE IT.
I'm not that big a DC fan in general, mainly because I do not have the attention span to understand what is happening (ignore the fact I've watched all of One Piece-) but I have watched all of Danny Phantom at one point or another so like, halfway there kdjnshdf
N E WAY! I was reading lex luthor's ascent from supervillainy to fatherhood real good, go read it https://archiveofourown.org/works/40263192 BUT THEN I SAW A POST, as I casually skim through it when bored, ABOUT JASON AND DANNY MEETING PROMPT/MINI-FIC ON HERE AND I WAS SO IN LOVE WITH IT
So now, my brain as it usually does, wants to write a fic on it. this is why I have so many notes/docs, someone please remind me to organize fdksjnfj but yeah- I might write some of it, I might not- I don't know, but I will absolutely dumb random thoughts I've had about it on you all.
Okay! So I don't see much if anything about it, but I love the idea that Danny is like, a baby in ghost terms. Like no one thought about it much because it was the equivalent of the "BABY HAS A GUN" meme and because the ghosts just wanted to cause some mayhem and have fun, it took them like 2-3 years to look at the overpowered ghost and go; "That's a child-".
Keep in mind, Danny is already technically the King of the Infinite realms via defeating Pariah Dark as well, so all the ghosts are like "a child....OUR CHILD" and now panicking over the fact that this lil ghost has not had a parent(Madie and Jack DO NOT in fact count as parents to the ghosts, or Danny's core for that matter, but it's not because they're human, like, the ghosts are more concerned about the fact that his parents aren't ACTUALLY his parents.)
Either way, Danny now has to avoid Clockwork, who knows he is a baby in ghost terms but almost adult in human terms so still 100% making him king, the ancient is kind enough to alleviate most of the jobs a king has to do at least......for now-
So most of Danny's 16, going to turn 17 soon, year old life is now school, dealing with the few ghosts who still cause him trouble even if he's a baby ghost to them, he does keep in mind how they are MUCH gentler now and tend to "give up" pretty easily instead of fighting him, and 'running' from Clockwork trying to coronate him.
Clockwork knows where he is when he 'hides' but his own ghost core, ancient as it is, can't help but humor the child.
Things go wonk as soon as his parents find out about him being a ghost, surprise surprise. His dad was shoot first, ask questions later as always, but his mom was more...mentally traumatizing my child by claiming they'll fix him and telling him how they would just have to cut him open a little to see what's wrong.
Danny gets hit by one of the shots and goes tumbling into the ghost zone, another shot hitting the portal itself and breaking it as he went through. Some ghost find him and are like "THE BABY!!!!"
Personally- my brain it's Kitty and Johnny finding him because they're more like friends now then much else. Kitty being like an older sister while Johnny is the friend he probably would have dated at some point given the situation since they're both around his age in general, being younger ghosts as well.
Either way, they panic, call Clockwork, since the whole Infinite Realms knows that they're Danny's guardian. Clockwork shows up, and is like "wuh oh" and decides this child needs a parent. BUT INSTEAD OF SENDING HIM TO SOMEONE CONVENTIONAL HE'S JUST LIKE WOOPPSSYYYYY *Throws a very injured and not that conscious Danny at Lex Luthor*
Lex is, despite telling himself he's not, already this random meta-adjacent kid's dad. He's sold. Be it the obvious parental neglect/abuse like he had or the fact that he didn't know he had enough of a heart not to abandoned a hurt child who knows-
Also just as a tangent, Danny 100% talks about clones one times and the two have a long talk about the sentience of clones, because like, Lex didn't think about it in a way that Clones, albeit creations of science more so, are still very sentient beings unlike other scientific creations. And depending on the type of clone, they are much much more human. Cue Lex having a mental breakdown in his bedroom later because oh fuCK HE LEFT A CHILD WITH SO LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD WITHOUT A PARENT- you can't convince me Lex wouldn't be a good dad solely to spite his own.
Danny's adopted and Lex is concerned for sure about this, apparently ghost as he quickly learned, kid that wakes up screaming sometimes. Boy is he glad to have built his whole place around keeping prying meta's out amongst other things- He's trying his best, and Danny is confused as hell about having a good parent. Even more confused because he's rich.
Lex is like "I'm totally doing this to ask about his capabilities" before panicking over Danny getting kidnapped despite knowing the kid could float through a wall if in real danger-
Cue many arguments about if Danny can go do things in general. Lex is very much stubborn about it even though he knows Danny is part ghost. This IS partially thanks to the few weeks it even took for Danny to heal from the blast he took from his parents. Either way, Danny won that argument in the end by saying he'd just float through the walls and go if he couldn't. They settled that if going as a ghost he just had to be careful about heroes and not changing in sight if at all, and if as Danny, he had to take a few bodyguards, though they could be discreet.
Either way, once Lex actually shows the world his kid, and he is so proud to call Danny his kid, Danny gets kidnapped. This is exactly why LEX SAID NO DANNY!!! Either way he gets saved by some Metropolis hero, superman or not, and he's instantly a little shit tm to them. More so because they asked a question about Lex, maybe even implying he was a bad dad, and even if Danny doesn't see him as a dad quite yet, there is no way he's standing for that!
In the end, it's a while before Danny actually goes much further than Metropolis, thank you very much Lex, this halfa knows how to do a thing or two!
Except he runs into trouble right away, that trouble being that uh oh- his underlying health issues he'd been ignoring up until now cuz they haven't messed up since his death- ignore the fact he learn that corrupted ectoplasm makes him basically have heart attacks if in human form because hey! doesn't happen if he's a ghost and he'll just switch before it happens- yeah that suddenly acts up when he runs, in human form because he wanted some coffee, straight into Red Hood. How fun.
Jason is confused because of the pit's usual anger and call for violence, upon seeing this random teen that literally ran into him, fall over in pain. Jason is worried as well obviously like this kid is definitely sick or something, but wHAT?!
He does the only logical thing obviously! taking him to one of his hideouts and not telling anyone-
Danny wakes up, sore, confused, and hella tired. Jason is equally as confused and tired, staring at the kid as he wakes up. The icky ecto doesn't actually hurt Danny from being near it, it's more like his body is thrown into cold water suddenly and it just has a violent initial reaction. So now Danny is trying to figure out why this person, ghost?, he can't tell, has the GROSSEST ecto he's ever seen, and if he's even aware of it. Let alone how the heck he's gonna help this random ghost, because by damn he's still technically the ghost king and his obsession isn't protection for nothing-
Now we have Danny, who's been unconscious for hours might I add, sitting with a very confused Jason. Danny wants to help the ghost person, he might just start calling him a halfa, but he was wrong about Vlad being a halfa, he's actually more of an ecto-possessed person, really confusing. Jason wants to know WHY this kid is making his pit rage not only calm, but worried, so he's having a time, actually having a clear head for once outside of his concern for this random child, that he's only just realizing he technically kidnaped....and definitely has forgotten to tell anyone about- Welp, he's not telling them now, his oddly comforting child now.
I have more ideas from this but I have been writing this for a while now so like- I'll tell ya more if ya want but only then- If I ever do write this it will 100% be more angsty than my blabbering here kjfsdnjkf

warnings: language, angst, mild violence (some shoving but no blood or injury), alcohol consumption, themes of depression
word count: ~4.7k
Is this really what my life is supposed to be? Am I fated to continue this way?
He pulled out his phone as he exited through the backdoor of the bar, seeing no texts, no calls. Reading 1:11am. The sigh he let out was one that came from deep within his chest, one that was filled with despair, regret, hopelessness. He strolled towards his barely-functioning car, shoving his phone back in his pocket in exchange for his keys, clutching his guitar case in his other hand. Throwing his trunk open, he tossed his guitar inside with a tad of aggression, frustration running through his system from the crown of his head to the tips of his toes.
The interior of the car was cold and silent, two things he was immensely grateful for as he rested his forehead against the leather steering wheel. He clenched his eyes shut, trying to settle his emotions with a couple breaths even though he was trembling, causing his exhales to come out shaky. He was pulled from his forced meditative state by the buzzing of his phone, but he couldn’t bring himself to answer. Only after three missed calls did he dig his phone out when it began to ring once again, not lifting his head as he brought his phone to his ear.
“What.”
“Jake, buddy, how’d the gig go?” Danny knew the answer already just based on Jake’s lack of greeting, but he figured he’d ask anyway.
Jake could hear music and boisterous laughter in the background of wherever Danny was calling him from, and for whatever reason, it pissed him off further. He wanted to be alone, to sulk in his anger and not be reminded of the joy he could be having.
“It went just how you think it went.” He had no reason to be short with his brother; Danny always called to check in with him out of the kindness of his heart, but these days it was starting to feel like pity.
“I’m sorry man,” he detected a bit of defensiveness in Danny’s tone, “maybe a drink would help. Why don’t you meet me and your brothers at-”
“Daniel,” he sighed, trying hard to right his attitude and not snap at the man offering him a lifeline. “I just need to go home. Maybe I’ll see you later this week.”
“Okay, I just think-”
“I’ll see you later, bro,” and disconnected the line. In truth, he didn’t want to see his brothers for a long time. He did not want them to see his failure, to observe the way he was living or how he carried himself these days. The gig he had that night hadn’t been horrible, but it was not great either. Hardly anyone was in attendance besides the old boozers who drank themselves stupid every night. There had been no money to be made, the bar owner patting him on the back sympathetically after continuously calling him ‘Jack’.
Although he wasn’t in it for the money or the fame, he would like to be able to pay his rent and afford some groceries. Growing up, he’s always been told he was destined for greatness, and that success would come easily to him and his guitar because of how hardworking he was. But boy, were his family and friends wrong about that. He was desperate to keep his career hidden, to conceal his failure and feelings towards such.
Jake drove home in silence, knuckles sheet white as he gripped the wheel. He let the sound of the road beneath him lull his thoughts, focusing on the dotted yellow line and streetlamps passing by. He wasn’t aware that he had been holding back tears until he was storming up the stairs to his studio apartment, throat bobbing as he slammed the door behind him, his vision blurry. Only once safely inside did he allow himself to feel the full range of his emotions.
Is this really how I’m expected to carry on?
He tossed his guitar down on the couch and stomped into the kitchen, eyes hot with searing tears as he blindly grabbed a glass and a bottle of whiskey that he had left out on the counter for easy access. Admittedly, he felt a little childish for letting his emotions run out of control, but if he was being honest, he was teetering over the edge of giving up. Music was his whole world; he loved nothing more than his guitar, and he was determined to move to this city to turn his passion into a career. Little did he know that it would feel like throwing paint at a wall, watching defeatedly how absolutely nothing stuck.
He tried to quell the tiny spot in the back of his brain that was jealous of his brothers. They all were heavy hitters in their respective industries: Josh was an Oscar nominated director, Sam owned his own restaurant, and Danny was constantly traveling around as a professional golfer. They had protested Jake’s idea of giving up and trying to find something else to do, all giving example after example as to why he should stick with it just a little bit longer. They assured him his ‘big break’ was just around the corner, but they’d been saying that for five years now.
Fuck them.
He threw back his glass, gladly welcoming the burn of amber liquid down his throat. He was mildly shocked that he didn’t crack the glass when he slammed it back down on the counter, knowing his anger was getting the better of him. Bracing his calloused hands on the cool marble, he let his head finally fall to his chest, squeezing his eyes shut as he felt the tears fall freely, noting that his muscles were trembling. How long had he been shaking?
Jake…. Jake!
He had gotten used to the ringing in his ears, only intensified when his anger peaked, which was more frequent than not these days. He clenched his eyes tighter still as he balled his fingers into two fists.
“Jake! Dude, hello?”
A hand on his shoulder startled him, jumping slightly before whipping around to see who could be intruding in his home, especially considering what time it was.
“Shit, relax!” A wide-eyed Josh stood behind him in the kitchen, watching his twin with concern written all over his face. Jake braced himself on the counter again, this time facing his brother, one hand grabbed at his chest and the other busied itself with trying to wipe the tears that he couldn’t stop. Only until he glanced at Josh did he notice two more bodies in his presence, Sam and Danny standing in the doorway.
Josh had backed away from him, inquisitively studying Jake’s face, taking inventory of the puffy eyes, runny nose, and overall disheveled look his brother now donned. The two twins stared at each other, discussing silently in their twin-talk before Jake finally broke the silence, having mustered up a facade to try to fool the others that he was, in fact, much more collected than he truly was.
“What are you guys doing here? It’s late, go home.” His voice came out gravelly and watery, and he prayed that no one would comment on it.
“Jake,” Sam called over Josh’s shoulder, “it’s been weeks since we’ve seen you. Where the hell have you been?”
His tone wasn’t pushy like the classic, usual cadence of his voice, but rather laced with the same concern that was evident on Josh’s face. Jake clenched his jaw, his lips tightening into a thin line. Had it really been that long since he’d seen his brothers? He chewed the inside of his cheek as he glanced from Josh to Sam and finally Danny, not being able to look at the latter for too long knowing how he had just hung up on him not even an hour prior. Danny saw the guilt flash through Jake’s eyes for a millisecond before Jake dropped his chin to his chest, relinquishing contact.
“Just… listen, I’ve been around, okay?” He offered quietly, still not having the courage to brave his brothers. “Sorry, but you guys should leave. Please.” And with that, Jake turned back to face the counter, pouring himself another glass of whiskey in hopes that his point would be made. He couldn’t tell his brothers what was going on, not yet, for that meant that he would have to fully admit it to himself, too.
Another hand from Josh on his shoulder pulled him back around.
“Don’t fucking give me that bullshit, Jake. You’ve been missing in action for weeks, hardly return our calls, we don’t know where the fuck you are and you’re just kicking us out?” He spat at his twin, ever frustrated for continuously reaching out his hand only to have Jake swat it away.
He began shaking Jake by both his shoulders, “Look at me, come on, look at me.”
Jake had already begun to dissociate; he was anywhere but in the kitchen with his brothers. His head felt miles away, thoughts buzzing in his ears making it nearly impossible to make out what Josh was saying to him let alone the sensation of his hands gripping his shoulders for dear life.
“We’re worried about you.”
Those four words brought him back to reality.
Jake’s head snapped up, burning his eyes into the culprit of those words. Danny had made his way into the kitchen just a few paces behind Josh, but halted in his tracks as the words tumbled from his mouth. Jake’s lips peeled back to reveal an anger-ridden snarl, already cursing his brother for even thinking those words.
“Don’t you dare say that to me, Daniel,” he pushed past Josh easily and made his way to stand in front of the man who still towered over him, laying a hand flat on his chest and shoving Danny back a couple of feet.
“You fucking morons,” another shove, “come into my place and act like this is some sort of intervention?” He was walking Danny back into a wall, pushing him hard enough to get the man to move but not strong enough to inflict real harm.
Danny put up no fight; for whatever reason, he knew Jake needed this. He stood with his hands at his sides, a somber look on his face as his eyes burned down into his older brother. He kept silent, knowing that any further words from him would ignite Jake’s anger tenfold.
Josh was glued to his spot by the counter, watching his twin’s assault on their friend, jaw hanging slack. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He was used to Jake picking fights with him, even occasionally brawling with their baby brother, but Jake adored Danny. Anything Danny said, Jake listened, no questions asked. He’d never heard Jake speak such foul words to the gentle giant let alone lay a finger on him.
It was Sam who finally broke through, jumping Josh out of his trance, running into the kitchen.
“Jake, Jesus Christ, stop!” Sam shouted, holding his older brother back from his charge on Danny, but to little avail. He forcefully shrugged Sam off, giving one more push to Danny as his voice rose louder, “I’m not your fucking charity case.”
Sam lunged for Jake again, grabbing him with more force than the previous time, holding Jake back as his  breathing increased, anger not only present in his features, but palpable in the heavy air of the apartment. Sam, much taller than Jake and with longer arms, spun his brother around to face him, and in a gesture that shocked Josh and Danny, pulled Jake into his arms, holding him in a tight hug.
Jake’s chest was still heaving but his eyes were blown wide, resting his chin on Sam’s shoulder and making brief eye contact with Josh who stood behind their baby brother. He didn’t fight the embrace; he couldn’t remember the last time somebody had held him. It felt nice, but he couldn’t bring himself to reciprocate the hug, leaving his arms at his sides as he tried to quell his anger. His eyes slipped shut, not bearing to look at Josh in his dimly lit kitchen; when he closed his eyes, all he saw was red. His head was pounding and his ears resumed their ringing, and only when Sam's hold on him grew tighter did Jake realize he was trembling once again.
His brother's voice cut through, barely above a whisper in hopes that Josh and Danny wouldn’t hear.
“Hey Jake?”
Jake kept silent, not confirming that he heard Sam but listening all the same. Sam knew he wouldn’t answer, but he continued on.
“Be the hero you’ve always been to me.”
Jake’s breath caught in his chest as he heard those words. Sam hadn’t told him that he was his hero since they were kids; he never took it to heart, always thought his little brother was just kidding around. But now, feeling like a complete failure, like he’s let his entire family down, he needed to hear something that would give him an ounce of hope. They still believed in him, after all this time of running into wall after wall.
Jake let his tears fall silently behind his closed eyes and stream down his cheeks, knowing that Josh would be able to see them but he couldn’t bring himself to care. Only when Sam felt his brothers breathing even out did he let him go, giving him one more squeeze on his shoulders before retreating next to Danny.
Jake wiped his chin on the back of his hand as he stood in the middle of the kitchen, not exactly knowing what to say. He knew he needed to apologize to Danny for two things he had done that night, but the guilt and his own pride halted him from doing so. He knew that he should thank his brothers for coming to his rescue, but again found himself biting his tongue. Instead, he glanced between all three of them, their eyes expecting and patiently waiting for what he would say.
“I think you guys should go.”
Idiot, stop pushing them away.
“We can stay, maybe order a pizza from one of those shitty 24 hour places-” Sam pleaded, even though he knew Jake was stubborn and wouldn’t change his mind.
“No, it’s late. Please, I really need to be alone.”
He caught Danny’s eyes as he said those words, seeing how Danny’s face fell even more. Jake knew he was disappointing him a little more each day, and he quickly averted his gaze, not being able to bear the sentiment that was easily readable on Danny’s face.
The three of them knew it was a losing battle, so they turned to leave, Danny leading the way with a reluctant Sam on his heels. Josh lingered, pressing a hand to Jake’s back as they stared at each other once more, the words Jake wanted to say radiating off him for Josh to gather. Josh gave his twin a slight nod before withdrawing his hand, joining the others by the front door.
Danny pulled the door open, glancing over his shoulder to Jake who was standing in the doorway of the kitchen, watching his brothers leave. With a faint smile, he turned back forward, walking into the hallway and down the stairs of the apartment complex. Sam followed, throwing him a reluctant “Bye, Jake,” and finally Josh, who didn’t speak another word before he shut the door behind them.
Jake listened to them make their descent, the faint slamming of the heavy front door of the complex evidence enough that his brothers were officially gone. He sauntered over to the door, deadbolting it before returning to the kitchen. He grabbed the neck of the whiskey bottle off the counter and slid down to sit on the floor, his back up against the cabinets as he brought his knees to his chest, the bottle sitting beside him.
He let out a sigh, resting his head in his palms as his tears began to flow again.
“Why do I keep doing that?” he whispered only to himself, feeling even more hopeless than he had previously that night. Why was he being such an asshole? These were his brothers, his best friends, and he knew that they were genuinely worried about him. Hell, if any of them were acting like how he was, he’d be incredibly concerned, too. So why couldn’t he let them in? They so clearly wanted to help, so why not let them?
He took a long pull from the glass bottle, keeping his head resting against the cabinet as he stared up at the hanging light that only had one of three functioning bulbs in it.
You’re such a piece of shit that you can’t even change the lightbulbs.
He smirked to himself before bringing the bottle to his lips again, thinking about the possible lightbulb joke he could make.
How long had he been sitting on the kitchen floor, he wasn't sure; the only marker of passing time was the now empty bottle of whiskey. He groaned, shifting himself to stand and only when he steadied himself with his hands on the counter did he realize that he was truly drunk. He wrenched his head to look at the clock on the wall: 3:10am. Rubbing his temples, he left the glass bottle on the floor, stumbling out of the kitchen after flicking the light off, and trudging to his bedroom. He couldn’t be bothered with washing up, only knowing that his bed was calling him and he had to sleep before the room began spinning too much.
He flopped onto his bed, burying his face in the pillows and letting out a short, muffled scream. Another thing he hadn’t done since he was much younger. His voice course, he flipped onto his back, hands behind his head as he glared at the ceiling. The alcohol had numbed his mind, thankfully, but he could still feel the adrenaline-fueled anger coursing through his body. He let his eyes fall, trying to count his breaths like Josh taught him once upon a time, and soon he was lulled into a fitful sleep.
~~~~~~
Jake was pulled from his slumber by the pool of sweat collecting on his back, the world already spinning behind his eyelids. He could tell he was still being dragged down by the alcohol in his system, so he knew that he couldn’t have been asleep for long. As he came to, his breathing picked up, wincing at the already evident headache he knew he would be dealing with all day.
His hand. There was something in his left hand. No, something holding his hand. As he awoke fully, he opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling. Jake didn't need to see what it was, he already knew.
Josh.
Sometime in the night, Josh had snuck back to Jake’s apartment, using the key his twin gave him when he moved in, and found Jake passed out in his bed. He pulled the covers atop his brother, then crawled onto the bed next to him, laying on his back to mirror Jake. He found Jake’s hand and cradled it in his; this was their source of comfort for each other whenever something terrible happened, especially when they were little. This was how Josh comforted Jake when their dad cut all his hair off. This was how they comforted each other through bad thunderstorms. And now, this was how he would comfort his twin through whatever was weighing him down so severely.
Jake stared at the ceiling knowing Josh was still awake due to his bouts of insomnia. Josh noted the change in his brother's breathing, but opted not to say anything, only giving Jake’s hand a gentle squeeze in acknowledgment.
Neither of them knew how long they laid there, side by side in the darkness of Jake’s bedroom, but the silence was welcome. Jake let the comfort of his twin wash over him, slowly closing his eyes before he breathed out,
“When did you come back?”
“About an hour after you kicked us out.”
That must’ve been only a couple minutes after I fell asleep.
Jake whispered out, “You didn’t have to come back, you know.”
Then Josh turned his head, looking at Jake’s side profile and taking in the details of his brother while his eyes were closed. His cheekbones looked sharper and the skin stretched over his jawline just a little tighter. Josh scowled, please tell me this fucker has been eating.
“Yes, I did.”
There was another beat of silence, and Josh could tell that Jake was gearing up the courage to be vulnerable with him, he just had to be patient. Minutes ticked by, and Josh thought Jake might’ve fallen back asleep, before he heard his brother continue,
“Josh… I don’t think I can keep doing this.”
“Doing what?”
Jake took a sharp inhale through his nose, his emotions already making their way to the forefront of his mind.
“Music,” he answered in a watery voice, “I’m… it’s killing me.”
Josh had a feeling that this was what was weighing on his mind, but it still shattered his heart into a million fractions to hear Jake admit it. By the tone of Jake’s voice, he knew that he had more to say, so he held his tongue.
“I know you all keep telling me to keep going, that I’m gifted or talented or whatever, but it’s not working. I don’t know if it’s because I don’t believe it, or just because I’m not as good as you all think I am.”
He opened his eyes again, watching the ceiling fan make its rounds.
“Mom and Dad always told me I’d be destined for greatness; hell, I’ve been holding that damn guitar since I’ve been in diapers,” he chuckled, bringing his empty hand to his forehead, “but I just don’t know if I love it anymore.” Jake was silent for another moment, trying to string together his thoughts to make them coherent for his brother, although he knew Josh would understand no matter what.
“It sounds like a fucking pity party now that I’m saying it out loud, but doing something creative and putting it out for the world to see and hear is exhausting. I’m playing to people who don’t give two shits. I’m tired of being vulnerable. I’m tired of writing these songs that mean so much to me only for them to mean jack shit to everybody else.”
He instinctively gripped Josh’s hand tighter. Josh continued to listen, shocked by what Jake was revealing. He hadn’t opened up to him like this in a long while, and his heart jumped that Jake felt comfortable enough again to let him see his struggles.
“I feel like a selfish jackass for saying that. I know I should be playing my music for me because it makes me happy,” his words began to crack as the tears formed in his eyes, “but how am I supposed to live my dream when no one will take the bait? Let alone pay my bills.”
“Jake, you gotta-”
He cut Josh off before he could finish his thought.
“Don’t tell me I have to keep going, that’s so easy for you to say. You, Sam, Danny, you guys are successful. Working hard paid off for you, and you're living your dreams. If I’m being honest, sometimes it’s hard to watch.”
The tears began rolling down his cheeks again.
“You all believe in me too much, you think I can do this. But what if I can’t? What if I actually am a failure and let you and our entire family down? Everyone who has rooted for me, who has helped me get to Nashville so I could live out my passion, I’m letting them all down. I don’t know what else to do. I don’t think I have it in me anymore.”
“Well you’re gonna let more people down if you give up,” Josh countered in a matter-of-fact tone.
“What a comforting sentiment.”
“No, Jake, I’m serious. We all believe in you for good reason: you’re talented, you’re intelligent, you put yourself out there and you don’t take shit that you don’t deserve. Nobody works harder than you and I know you don’t see it, but it will pay off. It always does. If you give up, of course the people who have your back would understand, but I think they’d be disappointed. Shit, nobody can play like you can and if I’m telling the truth, I’d be disappointed too ‘cause that would mean nobody would get to hear your music. It’d be a real shame.”
Jake knew Josh was right; he had never thought of it that way before.
Josh continued, “You’ve been in your head, isolating yourself away from everyone. I haven’t seen you like this since you found out Grace was cheating on you all those years ago. You need to get out again, spend some time with us. Remember last year when you would come over with your guitar and the four of us would goof off and sing together? The smile on your face spoke a thousand words. You just gotta get back to that. Maybe really think about what made you want to play in the first place. If you can find the source, you can reconnect with it.”
Classic Josh. He always knew how to calm Jake down while still talking to him straight. Of course they understood each other inside and out, and what Josh was advising was a surefire way for Jake to feel better, even if it wasn’t going to guarantee his career would take off. But right now, he wanted more than anything to feel the passion for his guitar again.
“I love you man, but you gotta stop pushing us away. We want to see you, it’s not the same without you. Sam is worried sick as you can see, and Danny’s not much better either,” Josh slid his eyes over to Jake. “You know, you were a real dick to him.”
Jake groaned, screwing his eyes shut.
“I know, I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
“You’re angry, frustrated. At the end of your rope," Josh said with a shrug. "I just always expected you’d take it out on me instead of our poor sweet Daniel."
Josh noticed a thin smile appear on Jake’s lips and he knew the pep talk was finally getting through.
“Listen, I’m in between shoots right now and I’ve got a couple months off. You are going to have lunch with me once a week, got it?”
A slight nod of agreement from Jake.
“And when Sam and Danny invite you out, you say yes unless you have a gig. I’m gonna try to come to as many of your gigs as I can, but you have to tell me when they are.”
“Are you supervising me?” Jake asked with a sarcasm laden voice.
“Yes! I’m helping you pull your shit together!” Josh laughed out, waving his unoccupied hand in the air. “I hate seeing you like this, it really concerns me. You and I have to stick together, and that means I’ve gotta pick you up when you faceplant and you do the same for me.”
He squeezed Jake’s hand again, emphasizing his point. They stayed silent for a while, Jake letting Josh’s words sink in.
Connect back to the source, huh.
He’d lost sight of that. He knew he loved his guitar more than anything, and he played it as his prominent source of self expression. Jake always found it hard to speak his emotions to others, but with his guitar, he felt like he could bare his soul to the world. It gave him power, confidence. His songs used to build him up, ever enthusiastic to share them with others. He had to get back to that.
“Thanks Josh,” he finally whispered as his eyes slipped shut again, the exhaustion beginning to pull him under.
“Nothing to thank me for, but I did have to resort to extreme measures.” Josh let out another chuckle, “Just don’t give up on me or I’ll kick your ass.”
“I won’t.”
"And apologize to Daniel."
"I will."
And with that, Jake was ushered back into rest, this time a peaceful sleep enveloping him. Josh listened to his twin snore lightly, deciding that he would wait just a while longer before he headed back home. It pained him to see Jake suffering like this; his twin had always been deeply sensitive, but never allowed many into his heart. Only Josh and his brothers were the ones to see the real Jake, and right now the real Jake was hurting immensely. Josh let his eyes slip shut, silently thanking Jake for being so vulnerable with him, letting out a deep sigh as he thought about what Jake had confessed.
