It still fascinates me that Akiren canonically is reluctant to tell the others about "Igor" and ultimately does not. You have a dialogue option to try explaining where the Metanav comes from when Makoto questions it, but Akiren shuts it down with something about it being too hard to explain if you try going that route. Again, Akiren does know how he and the others get the Metanav; Yaldabaoth tells him he gave it to him and will give it to potential accomplices in the future. While Akiren knows about this and also that "Igor" keeps alluding to future ruin, every other Phantom Thief is in the dark. And this is fascinating because without the blinders of "oh Igor's been good every previous entry, he's just cryptic", Yaldabaoth-as-Igor comes off as an extremely shady adult in an entry all about shitty adults manipulating and abusing kids, and Akiren is put in a weird spot where it is natural that it'd feel difficult for him to tell his friends about his connection to "Igor", which seems like a real good spot to get manipulated in.
I 100% believe that the only reason Akiren doesn't actually end up getting played for a fool with this set up is because he has main character privileges. Like, I can't speak for p1/p2, but 3-5, the main character is kind of a power trip. You make friends with a bunch of people, you can romance any girl (rip if you wanna romance boys outside p3p), you are The Special One.
Please imagine if Akiren wasn't the main character and it was either Ryuji or Ann (hell, while we're doing hypotheticals, let's say the game would let you pick which one you wanted to play as). Ryuji/Ann is the PoV character, but Akiren still starts as the nominal leader because he seems to have a better clue what he's doing then, and first-time players are like "wow, he's pretty cool, why aren't we playing as him" until you start getting PoV cuts to him interacting with Yaldabaoth and it's like.......not spelled out that "Igor" is bad news, but also it definitely seems like something isn't right, and again, this is the game of shitty adults manipulating kids. So you already know Akiren's background isn't great, he's not in the best spot, and now there are just these little hints that huh ok maybe your cool friendly leader is. doing something weird. hey buddy are you going to tell us about this weird guy??? No???? Not until a mid-game upset where the PT discover what they've been doing has been manipulating public cognition in a bad way they might have avoided if they'd just known to have the slightest suspicion about this old man most of them are just now hearing about and Akiren is having a meltdown out of guilt and shame because he didn't explain anything partially because it'd be hard but also because what if people didn't believe him, he acts cool but has trauma from his arrest and his hometown doubting him and he 100% avoided doing or saying anything that might make him anything less than the perfect trustworthy confidant for all his friends (which, guess how a few teammates would be reacting, so between that and Akiren having a meltdown, now Ryuji/Ann is the official leader! Yay, you're actually playing the leader now! Isn't that great? ...Yippee????)
and then on ng+ you just spend early game circling Akiren at his hangout spot yelling "TELL US YOU DUMBASS WE'LL STILL LOVE YOU AND IT'LL SAVE A LOT OF PAIN" but alas the plot is written.
anyway yes I still believe they set up Akiren so perfectly to be manipulated not just as part of the Phantom Thieves but as an individual, because of his own personal vulnerabilities, and that it would 100% have happened if he was not protag.

Hiii, could you please make some hc for guevara, mumon, musashi and retsu with an s/o that is basically an abnormality, for example she has like 4 arms because she was suposed to have a twin but she like ate her in the process and is like albino bit still has some color in her hair like blond and ginger and is like deaf due to the amount of abnormalities that she has and has like spots on her body due to vitiligo and things like that, like a really really weird s/o that is like extremely unic.
I would like to see musashi's reaction like thinking she is like a ghoul or an goddess or even an angel or something.
Sorry if it's too long or it doesn't appeal to you.
Have an amazing day and hope everything is ok with you 💕💕💕
Situation: S/O with some bodily peculiarity / S/O con alguna particularidad corporal.
Characters: Jun Guevara, Mumon Katsuragi, Musashi Miyamoto and Retsu Kaioh.
Jun Guevara.
He cannot believe what he sees, they must be a deity that came down from the heavens to delight humanity with their presences, so majestic and merciful.
No one should doubt his love for his S/O, there is simply no more way for Jun to show how much he loves his S/O in case anyone has any doubts, no matter how they look.
As if this man could find anything wrong with his partner, really, he is an idiot in love with the sea and his S/O. There's nothing else on that head other than his S/O. I'll even leave it at this point, it's just obvious.
Mumon Katsuragi.
Mumon can be curious, but he is extremely laid back, he won't dig too deep if the S/O's are reluctant to talk about their aspects.
He may be a little silly, but he is not an idiot and he knows how to read people, so he will be in charge of making his S/O feel at ease when they are with him.
Sporadic and sincere praise, smiles and good wishes. He is sweet.
If they ever seek to be heard, Mumon will be there, he will listen to their insecurities and make them feel loved. He can understand if they feel too left out in some places and will comfort them for that.
He can make his S/O happy, no matter what they look like, he loves them.
Musashi Miyamoto.
To be honest, I think he would see the S/O as some kind of supernatural deity or spirit.
His mind is greatly influenced by traditional beliefs where he respected and feared supernatural creatures because they brought fortune or destruction.
I think he would kneel in front of the S/O after watching them uncomfortably for a while, asking for wisdom and strength to continue getting stronger.
A little reluctant to stop believing that they are deities, even if someone else or the S/O themselves explains that this is not the case. He'll stop mentioning it out loud, but I'm sure he still believes it.
Their relationship is a little strange at first for this very reason; Many people ask for kisses/blessings from their partners for good luck as motivation, while Musashi will firmly believe that his S/O does grant him luck.
He is the most faithful and devoted admirer of his S/O, he is also the most dangerous, he does not accept insults towards his S/O. They are warned.
Retsu Kaioh.
MY man is really understanding, he wouldn't be able to single out anyone for any particularity, because that's not honorable.
For this man, the sentimental and spiritual connection is painfully important, it is at a level far above the physical appearance.
The S/O will not need to worry about awkward questions when talking to Retsu, he would never point out the S/O's particularities unless they themselves are willing to talk about it. He understands that some people don't like to talk about these issues, so he won't touch it.
If they dare to talk about their aspects, they can trust that Retsu will listen, perhaps the question of “Does this affect your health?”, will leave Retsu's lips listening to them. That's all he cares about.
I'm not trying to say he's the best option yes that's exactly what I mean, I just want to clarify.
Versión en español
Jun Guevara.
Elogios esporádicos y sinceros, sonrisas y buenos deseos.

I've mentioned it before, but I think I finally want to try and explain how I write the characters in my Saiki K fics. It's mostly for me because I love talking about writing and Saiki K, but maybe some of you will enjoy this, too.
I did Toritsuka because @akechi-gf mentioned wanting tips on writing his dialogue, but 1) I felt bad info-dumping on his post and 2) didn't quite answer the dialogue answer and jumped straight into characterization (Sorry! Hope this still helps you in some convoluted way, if you're willing to read it all LMAO)
Obviously, he's very aggressively horny. He and Aiura are probably one of the firsts to laugh over something that could be taken the wrong way. But I think it's his way of trying to connect with others. He might open a conversation with some odd, vaguely creepy comment on a girl with the intention of moving the subject to something else.
He's vulgar, though I don't consider him much of a swearer. Not when compared to Kuboyasu or maybe even Kaido.
I personally write him as someone who is very opinionated. If he thinks Saiki is being too passive, or in over his head, Toritsuka is going to tell him straight up. Even if he knows the other won't take it well.
That's a big part of their relationship, I feel: even if Toritsuka is the first to cower away from Saiki puffing out his chest, he's also the first to come bounding back. He's not a 'once burned, twice shy' kind of guy. He doesn't really hold grudges, and can't quite go through with threats. I think it's why Saiki puts up with him. Like Nendo, Toritsuka is very devoted.
If you want to portray him differently, that's alright, but I always feel that something people miss with all the Saiki K. characters is that most of them are genuine assholes. They're teenagers, and I feel Toritsuka exemplifies this best. He'll say hurtful things and fucking mean them. It doesn't make him a bad person, but he definitely doesn't have the same emotional regulation as...I was going to give an example but I don't know if any of the kids are good at that. Akechi, maybe.
And speaking of emotions, he's not the best with them. He understands them, sure, but he's not even remotely delicate. That means he'll back off easily when he thinks things are beyond him. If Saiki tells him to leave it alone, that's what he's going to do. He isn't a bad guy. Toritsuka doesn't want to actively make things worse.
And on that note, he's also really fucking whiny. I try really hard not to shy away from making characters unlikable in certain aspects. If they're annoying, make them annoying. If they're a jerk, then so be it. I don't like sacrificing personality for likability. I just make sure its balanced out by other things. Toritsuka, despite his faults, has a lot of things genuinely good about him. He has pure, unadulterated faith in people, a genuine desire to become a better person (after some nudging), has shown care toward his ghosts...there's definitely stuff there.
Toritsuka's world view is fucked up, point blank. The way he talks about women isn't right. If I wrote from his perspective, it'd probably include him objectifying them. But, depending on what period of his development he's in, he might be able to step back and acknowledge that what he's thinking isn't right. He's very capable of growing and changing. Even if he's reluctant with it, he starts being less self-centered and more willing to do things just because it's the right thing to do.
He has mommy and daddy issues up the fucking wall. I think it colors his interactions with the other psychickers (who are willing to keep him in check), especially Saiki (who mother-hens basically anything that moves). He needs guidance, even if it's a bit of bullying.

I do really want to think of how i want Bruce and Damian's relationship to go down b/c I think their dynamic is greatly influenced by Bruce's failures as a father and some of those failures are IC but some of them are stupid as hell.
Also note: this is kind of my thought appendices to this (link) reblog chain
it can be hard to square Son of the Demon Bruce with Batman and Son Bruce (and like. impossible to square him with Batman Inc Bruce). But it might be able to be done (we'll see that later). first
The failures that I think are in character to Batman at that time (2000s)
Being exacting in his standards and uncompromising: Bruce is a perfectionist and he applies this to everyone he works with (except sometimes Tim and Robin Jason) much to their utter annoyance. He's also fairly egotistical and thinks that his way of doing things is right, so he wants people to be perfect his way, not whatever way they are doing.
(examples from this from text: Damian often feels like Bruce just orders him to be a mini-me and doesn't explain things in Tomasi's run on B&R, and honestly like... Bruce doesn't explain things. He's like "don't go on patrol b/c I todl you not to" he doesn't mention that Nobody is out*, he didn't explain his connection to Nobody, probably more that aren't on the top of my head at the moment)
Being predisposed to judging Damian harshly: Thinking of this post (link) about Bruce referring to Cass (when talking to cain) as "You made her like us" when referring to her training. Bruce seems to put a lot of focus on actions, rather than like 'you're innately a good/bad person'. That's probably why he was so reluctant to believe that Cass killed someone at first, he was convinced the video was faked. And Damian has done a lot of actions that Bruce would hate -- as well as attacking Tim, who did have a favorite-syndrome going on at the time. Like Bruce was consistently the best to Tim in that era. And since Tim was in Bruce's house when this was going on it is possible Bruce feels like he was responsible for not 'controlling' Damian better. That could hypothetically influence later interactions.
Not being emotionally available: He is pretty much never emotionally available, it would be OOC if he was emotionally available.
With the combination of those 3 factors, it's very easy for Damian to feel like his only connections to his dad are what he can do for him in the field and blood.
I also think that Bruce's failures as a father are not really that OOC to Son of the Demon Bruce, because while Son of the Demon Bruce was very enthusiastic about having a kid and like 'he'll be the happiest baby in the world!' there was an incredibly important second part which was he became controlling of Talia to the extent that he acted like an idiot (tried to force her out of combat when they were in the battlefield, causing someone to sneak up on them and she had to kill that person to save Bruce's life). Talia winds up faking a miscarriage to try to get him to act like himself and not a possessive overprotective weirdo who will throw away everything he was working for previously.
and when he does see her next, in detective comics annual 1, he is very cold to her and judgmental of her despite them having parted on not hostile terms (he obviously didn't know she faked a miscarriage).
Like my assumption is he has so many emotions wrapped in this that he would be afraid to address them (as typical) and make many mistakes.
But then like.
The failures I think do not work for him period:
Him wanting to give Damian back to the League of Shadows because he had a vision that evil future batman damian would get gotham destroyed. I'm sorry but like. If your Batman is pro sending a child into an abusive situation based on some dream they had you don't understand batman, fundamentally, at all.
Not caring what's going on with Damian as long as he's not destroying the world (this is like. TT2016 to modern era stuff). Like if anything I think he would tend to micro-managing out of worry (like he was in B&R 2011) or being demanding and exacting, not like "oh not my problem." maybe if Damian was living w/ Talia (non-morrison version) he'd be a lot more hands off, since he was fine w/ that after RRAG. But like. that damian was not living w/ any of his parents or family members.
anyway it is so frustrating when like. one character's interactions are very tied into things that don't work for another character but i hope I can make it work.
*granted I'm sure if Damian knew that Nobody was out he would've been like "ah so it's dangerous and you need my help even more" XD

Flight
For Sarah @sarahcakes613, who requested something Nick related and fluffy. I hope I delivered!
Ship: Nick/Dante
Rating: G
~
Nick’s always loved the feeling of flying. The air rushing past him, the momentary belief he could defeat gravity. The way it feels is something he’s never been able to explain, not even to Matt. His brother gets it, to an extent, knows what it means to him. But he’s never found someone who connects with the defeat of gravity quite like he does.
Well. Until now.
He watches Dante Martin spin through the air like a ballerina or a superhero, defying gravity in a way he’s only seen from himself in videos. He’s rapt, captivated, by the way this young man scatters gravity like it’s nothing but a suggestion.
“We gotta have a match with them,” Nick says, with a weird sort of frantic energy.
Matt stares, looking baffled as he turns away from the monitor. “Uh, yeah. They’re a tag team, we’re a tag team. Kind of how it works?”
Nick can’t explain why. But it’s more than just that.
They collide from time to time, and it’s not until the second trios title match that he sees it in Dante’s eyes: he gets it. He gets it. Matt and Darius and AR Fox, they all fly. Plenty of people in this business do.
But Nick think Dante gets the same, glorious, impossible to define, feeling in the air.
At the end of the match, Nick practically sprints backstage to catch Dante before he leaves. Nick’s lucky for once; Dante’s alone in the hallway. He can’t help but run to chase after him, heart racing a million miles faster than he can handle. “Dante!” he calls.
Dante’s hesitant, a little reluctant as he turns around. Nick figures he deserves it. But he doesn’t want it. “Yeah?”
“I, uh,” Nick searches for the words he’s never been able to find, “the flying. I mean, your wrestling.” He slows himself down. “You’re really good.”
Dante’s face lights up like an ocean sunrise. “You think so?”
“Do you – do you get this weird feeling when you’re flipping, like it’s where you belong?” Nick’s not sure if those words capture the way he feels, but it’s the closest he can get.
Something falls over Dante’s face, and he slowly breaks into this half smile, half look of awe. “You feel it, too?”
Nick loves Matt. He loves Kenny. More than words can say.
But there’s something special about someone else getting it, understanding this nebulous part of himself he’s never been able to explain to anybody else. He can see it in Dante’s eyes. “Wanna go to the ring after filming and try a bunch of flips?”
Dante nods, dancing a little on his toes. “See how far across the ring we can jump?”
“You get it,” Nick says. There’s a little flutter in his heart that promises either a lot of joy or a lot of heartbreak in his future, maybe a combination of both, but he lets it happen. This is too good an opportunity to pass up.
Dante looks hopeful, though, eyes with a hint of shyness behind them. “I’ll see you there.”

Comfort Food
Fluffy Daisuga one-shot in which Daichi is sick and Suga just wants him to go rest. And also a sandwich is made.
On AO3 >
--
“Out, out, out!” Koushi commands. He stands by the kitchen island, chest puffed up and face stern as he points an indignant finger behind him, towards the living room, “Out of the kitchen this instant, or so help me…”
“Kou, I can do it myself. I’m not…” Daichi begins a valiant attempt to wave his husband off, but stops short when Koushi raises his eyebrows in disbelief. It’s clearly an invitation to keep talking, the look on his face says he’s waiting, that he’d like Daichi to continue and do all the work of digging the hole for him. Shoulders slumped, Daichi sighs in defeat… and that sigh turns into a cough that rattles his chest and has him leaning on the countertop for support.
“You are ,” Koushi says as he moves swiftly to Daichi’s side. He places his palm in between his shoulder blades, moving it firmly up and down until the coughing fit subsides. “Dai, come on, you need to go back to the couch. I’ll finish your…” His eyes flit to the ingredients laid out before them and his brows press together. “What… what were you trying to make?”
Daichi sees the confusion on Koushi’s face and follows his gaze to the pile of things he’d dragged out. Leftover spaghetti, a tomato, cheese, half an onion, a stick of butter, a head of lettuce, cilantro, carrots, celery, a bag of potato chips, an orange…
“A… sandwich?” Daichi answers, reluctant to explain but knowing he’ll have to.
“Babe, we have got to get you to the doctor,” Koushi says. One hand is still on Daichi’s back, and it makes a gentle circle as Koushi places the other on Daichi’s forehead. “You’re messing up food . Your fever must have spiked… Are you hallucinating?”
Daichi laughs, and it’s a rough, grinding sound for all the gunk in his chest and the fire in his throat. He meets his husband’s wide-eyed stare - the shock plain on his face - as Daichi takes the hand that had been pressed against his forehead into his own.
“No,” He says, “Worse.”
The look Koushi gives him, how he’s so completely flummoxed, the way his mouth hangs open, and the way it was so obvious that his brain was working to make all the dots connect, makes Daichi chuckle again. He’s always handsome, but sometimes he can be so damn cute it hurts.
“I’ve reverted. You’re looking at how I ate in college,” he explains in a tone that is as serious and solemn as he can make it, “It’s a dark past, I didn’t want you to see this. I must be sick.”
“You don’t say?” Koushi responds, and his tone is somehow both sarcastic and flabbergasted. He turns again to the food on the counter. “This is… a sandwich? Really?”
“Not yet,” Daichi answers, “It will be. Or was going to be. It’s like… a patty melt, but with spaghetti. Kind of… greasy comfort food.”
Koushi’s mind again goes to work, assembling a sandwich in his head based on the facts at hand, and finally looks up.
“Ok, I get all this,” he says, gesturing to the spaghetti, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and butter, “But celery and carrots?”
“Gotta have some kind of vegetable on the side,” Daichi explains, “That’s how you know it’s healthy.”
Koushi wrinkles his nose at Daichi and shakes his head. “Keep telling yourself that… but ok… I guess the chips are a side, too…”
“Nope, they go on it… for the crunch. It’s a texture thing.”
“Uh huh,” Koushi says, dubious, and just looks at him for a moment before rolling his eyes and continuing down the list. “The cilantro?”
“That was actually a mistake. I thought it was parsley… but I wouldn’t be above trying it.”
 “Acceptable answer… and… the orange?”
Daichi shrugs. “I just like oranges.”
“Thank god,” Koushi breathes out in relief, “I was scared you used the juice for, like a sauce or something.”
Daichi hums thoughtfully, “Well now that you mention it…”
“Gross,” Koushi says, “I love you and you’re gross and I want you out of my sight.”
“That’s mean,” Daichi says, hand to his heart in mock pain, “You should be nicer to me… don’t you know I’m siiiiiick.” He stretches the word out, trying to be cute, but the way his shredded voice delivers the line is more like a sputtering lawnmower.
“Yes, I do! And big, sick babies belong on the couch so their doting husbands can take care of them and not serve them garbage food for lunch,” Koushi argues, giving Daichi a shove in the direction of their living room, “Now go, you’re banished from the kitchen.”
Daichi moves to leave before Koushi stops him, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Seriously, chill and let me take care of you for once? Please?” He says in a lower, sweeter tone that makes Daichi’s heart lurch forward and brings a dumb, stupid smile to his face. He nods, wishing he weren’t sick so he could collect this man in his arms and kiss him until neither of them could breathe.
But he’s having trouble enough breathing as it is. The journey from the kitchen to the couch is long and arduous, and he’s woozy by the time he finally sinks into the nest Koushi made him as soon as his temperature hit 38.
The sounds of Koushi banging around in the kitchen fill the air, and Daichi takes a moment to look around him. He’s bundled up in soft blankets and supported by part of their not-insignificant collection of pillows. He has water, medicine, tissues, and cough drops at his fingertips. There are books beside him, some are a few volumes of a manga Koushi desperately wants him to read and some are books of puzzles to occupy time. There are empty mugs that had held tea to soothe his throat and help him sleep. Koushi had even let him borrow that damn stuffed bear he slept with when Daichi was away so he’d have something to brace himself when the coughing fits were too bad.
In short, he is surrounded by all the trappings of his husband’s love for him. If he’d ever doubted that he was loved… here is all the evidence he needed to prove it. Daichi is so full now that his chest hurts for a reason other than the congestion it contained. It’s overwhelming. He feels like crying out of happiness, but instead he just holds on to Koushi’s bear more tightly and closes his eyes.
He dozes a bit, coming back to reality when Koushi gently touches his shoulder. There’s a plate in his hand and a look in his eye that’s hard to read. He seems… hesitant? But there’s also the look of expectation and maybe even a hair of smarmy pleasure on his face.
“After this monstrosity,” he says, using his free hand to replace his bear with an older pillow, “I hope you never doubt my love for you for even a single second.” With that, he lowers the plate onto the pillow and stands in triumph over them.
Daichi looks at the plate in shock. He’d made the damn sandwich. All that earlier - Koushi wasn’t really poking fun at him… he was making sure he understood what Daichi was planning for each ingredient, so he could replicate it for him. That too-tight feeling from earlier returns, and maybe it’s because he’s so sick that he can’t regulate his emotions, or maybe this is just who he is, but he does cry, just a little, over his sandwich.
“Hey,” Koushi soothes, and slots in next to him on the couch, one hand stroking the short hair at the back of his neck. “What’s this about? Did I do it wrong?”
“No,” Daichi answers, sniffling and rubbing at his eyes, “I don’t feel good, and I’m tired, and everything hurts, and I just. Love you so much.” He knows he’s being pathetic, but that’s ok, because he can be pathetic in front of Koushi.
“Awww,” Koushi says and his hand trails down to Daichi’s shoulder so his arm is wrapped around him in the best semblance of a hug he can create, “I know, Dai. I love you, too. I hate that you feel so shitty… maybe eating will help?”
Daichi nods, knowing that Koushi is right. He needs calories to fight this infection or flu or whatever it is, so he picks up the spaghetti melt that his husband made him and takes a bite.
“And? Is it every bit of greasy garbage comfort food deliciousness that you dreamed of?” Koushi asks, grinning.
“And more,” Daichi says around the bite in his mouth. He swallows, grimacing. Toasted bread and chips didn’t go down well with a sore throat, but it was what he wanted and that’s what water was for, anyway. “It’s perfect. The cilantro is a nice touch.”

@electrivolt said: The feline seems to be more... antsy than usual. One hand fidgeting with the hem of his shirt, gaze pointedly avoiding Roark, and perhaps the most telling sign to something being wrong to some degree— the jacket he's sort of quietly claimed as his own now tucked under his arm rather than wrapped around him. That's definitely not right. Volkner's apparent reluctance to speak hardly helps. "Could... could you maybe..." The faintest hints of frustration are a bit too clear, if overshadowed by shame, when words are harder to string together than it appears, another try needed before he can really voice thoughts. "... Could you— wear this again for a while...?" Ah. That is maybe an odd request, or at least unexpected. And he's trying, to explain himself and say something more, against the increasing inner struggle and the red now coloring his face. "It doesn't... smell like you anymore..." That— it does make sense, doesn't it? After clinging to this one feeling of safety and familiarity for so long, he just... can't quite let it go just yet, no matter however much progress they have made together and how well adjusted he may be to the life on the landship. He needs this one thing more than he lets on doesn't he? / catboy and gator boy therapy, really.
Tumblr media
The archosaurian cants his head to one side, finding Volkner in his lab at this hour when he work assigned in the engineering department... all signs pointed to something being wrong with all of the body language the feline was showing him. He was always the anxious sort, unsure when it came down to anything he wasn't completely convinced over. Much of it was confidence, Roark learned quickly, especially after the sheer differences the two had when standing next to each other.
So, he patiently waits, hands resting in his pockets—thankfully, he was only setting up some displays he procured from the last excursion he took to Sargon, finally prepared and cleaned after finding time in between operations to focus on his hobby work. So far, this display was going nicely! He was proud of the placards and shadowboxes! A little smile crosses his features in comfort. "Don't worry, take your time," he offered in the midst of Volkner struggling to put words to his requests.
Ah, but, when he finally does get it all out, it makes sense, doesn't it? Sure, a bit unexpected after all this time, but... well.. there was a reason why Volkner kept his jacket on religiously after finally convincing him it'd be okay, huh? Surely, a feline and an alligator would connect the dots there. When it does hit him, Roark's cheeks mirror that of Volkner's, and he can't help but chuckle in embarrassment ( he knows his cat would having him around every hour if he had the opportunity, but the reminder in these kinds of ways still hit him hard ).
Thankfully, living on Rhodes came with the perk of more than one or two choices in clothing if one asked nicely. There was a plan for the perpetually cold feline, after all. "...That's awfully cute, Volk.." he finally answers him, not at all uncomfortable, all things considered. If there's anything that's helped Volkner, it was the sense of safety, wasn't it? "Here, let's trade then, if you don't mind wearing black for a little while?" His Rhodes-issued jacket came before the fluffy one Volkner now wore, after all. Once shed, Roark folds it over and offers it over for him to inspect. "How's this?" On the plus side, that means he can feel comfier with Volkner lingering, doesn't it? Well, maybe this helps both of them.

In spite of how he may come off, Buster isn’t completely oblivious and naive to his parents and what they’re really like. He has acknowledged his sibling’s experiences with his parents and he doesn’t deny them. Which is interesting because he’s typically seen as very oblivious to his mom’s true nature. But in reality, that’s not really the case. He is more aware than many give him credit for and I feel like one of the ways we see this is in how he treats Gob.
The rest of the family completely disregards Gob, brushing him to the side and not taking him seriously. Even Michael, while he does care about Gob, he doesn’t really understand his brother(he also just doesn’t have time for his antics with all his responsibilities but this does play into it). Buster, on the other hand(something I’ve discussed before), is very similar to Gob. They’re both very emotional, they’re both very dependent, it manifests differently but I believe they both, not just Buster, deal with anxiety to some degree(Gob’s reaction to Buster’s hook speaks to having a deeper trauma tied to the lessons his father taught them), and while not canonically, they’re both have very neurodivergent coded stuff about them(there’s probably more stuff I could mention too). This is all to say that Buster actually is able to understand Gob. Able to see the method to some of his madness, unlike the rest of his family, and that grants him an easier path to putting himself in Gob’s shoes when for the rest of them, the connections Buster makes aren’t automatic and they would need to give Gob a second thought in order to really try to grasp why he is the way he is. That is part of why Buster treats Gob the way he does. It’s not purely just naivety and innocence fueling his view and treatment of his older brother.
Gob doesn’t give Buster any reason to be kind to him; in some ways, more than anyone else in the family. And yet, Buster is almost always willing to hang out with Gob, helping him or even actively seeking out his help. This is because he sees how the rest of the family treats his older brother, always excluding him, always refusing to help him, not taking him seriously, etc, and he feels bad for Gob and wants to make him feel better. When their father shuts down Gob’s Tiny Town idea and Gob is clearly dejected, Buster offers to help him with it. I talked about this in the previous post I mentioned but Gob wants to be to George Sr. what Buster is to Lucille. And I think that Buster recognizes this. I think he sees how much Gob loves their dad and Buster can relate to that in how he loves their mom and he knows how special it is to receive love(“love”) from her. How unique he is in getting, like, anything positive. And Michael and Lindsay to an extent both at least have one parent, like him, who kinda favors them, but Gob doesn’t have anyone. And because of that, he views that from a sympathetic angle.
There’s also the time after Gob, in a panic, tried to end his life when he thought the prosecutors were gonna get some information out of him and he believed that was the best solution(on a separate note, the speed of which Gob resorts to that, I think, says something). Gob is at the park with Buster and he’s all low energy and shameful and unmotivated. He explains to Buster how he “freaked out” in front of the prosecutors and describes it in a very Gob-like fashion, saying he was like a little girl in a little dress and little pigtails and little saddle shoes. Gob is clearly upset, like he is in many situations where he’s “overreacting”, “just freaking out” over something viewed as insignificant. But instead of making fun of Gob or dismissing him, Buster listens attentively and kindly and empathetically agrees with Gob’s description of “freaking out”. What comes off to me as a very, “Yeah, I’ve been there,” kind of tone. It’s very different to how anyone else in the family responds to Gob’s fits or slumps. He doesn’t respond with reluctant kindness or waving away the issue as making a mountain out of a molehill, but with understanding.
It’s not like it’s only that he feels bad for Gob that contributes to his kindness. I think he also just genuinely does enjoy his company and likes hanging out with his older brother. A lot of the reason they get along is because they’re so similar, they just gel(again, not canon, but it’s the neurodivergent bond). Buster also looks up to him. In a vacuum, I think they’d be friends. But even still, a lot of that stems from him being able to view Gob’s behavior sympathetically. Like, Michael also cares about Gob but he doesn’t view Gob the same way Buster does. He can’t relate the way Buster can, and because of that, he treats him differently. Michael doesn’t see Gob being mocked and reprimanded for the same things that Lucille excused in himself. Buster does.
Buster sees Gob’s rude behavior, itself, through that lens as well. He can excuse Gob’s sourpuss attitude because he knows a lot of that comes from jealousy towards him, since surely, Gob sees aspects of himself in Buster, just as Buster does with him. “Why was Buster loved and not him?” So he acts out and roughs Buster up and acts dismissive towards him since he doesn’t know any other way to express his frustration. But we see that a lot of this is a facade. There’s the time in the show when, feeling as if he didn’t have any friends, he goes to hang out with Buster, timidly asking if he was home. He actually does appreciate Buster’s company and his efforts to be kind to him in spite of him being a jerk.
Gob actually does make some semblance of progress when Buster is kind to him that one time with the Tiny Town. I think the main reason it never does much in the long run, though, is cause Gob is dealing with a lot of inner turmoil that is actively working against any progress he may want to make and also just that Buster, even if he technically, on many levels, may be the one most fit for the job, isn’t the family member Gob goes to if he needs comfort. That’s Michael. And while Michael knows the surface level stuff that gets Gob to calm down, again, he doesn’t understand or relate to him like Buster does. So it’s hard to make any meaningful progress when Gob is hardly ever accepting of Buster’s support and he isn’t getting the support he needs from Michael.
It’s cool that Buster, a character viewed to be very simple-minded, does appear to have a deeper understanding of Gob than anyone else in his family. Feels weird to say after season five, but Buster really is such a kindhearted character in a lot of ways. I think that’s an overlooked addition to the cast he brings. He’s mainly viewed as an anxious wreck who’s way too attached to his mom and yes, that is a major part of his character, but his kindness should be valued just as much.

Top 5 wheel of time characters?
oh man, okay. I feel like this one is always a struggle for me because it kind of depends on what criteria I'm going with...but here goes.
1. Rand al'Thor. Ah, yes! My traumatized, depressed, miserable son! My 'another character often described as whiny' beloved! I feel like...generally speaking, I don't connect with Chosen One characters. I just don't get attached in the same way, I don't have the same amount of feeling about most of them. I think what makes Rand different is the fact that he is (a) a Chosen One who is specifically, explicitly doomed to die, (b) determined to do a good job at being a Chosen One even though he's miserable about it.
It's like...yes, he spends a couple books being the reluctant hero, but once Rand actually accepts that yeah, this is happening, he goes from denial to pretty much...throwing himself into trying to get shit done and make some of his own choices and do some good before he inevitably dies. He's just. You know. A mess. And I'm a weakness for a character who is a mess, particularly one who is falling apart but just keeps on trudging through anyways because there's no other choice.
2. Ishamael/Moridin/Elan Morin Tedronai. I feel like of all the various motivations the Forsaken have for joining the Dark One I vibe with Ishamael's the most, which is probably bad. It's just...the fact that he thought himself into a nihilistic despair about the inevitable end of the world and then was like. ok then guess I might as well help make that happen. and then goes on to completely lose his mind over the course of several thousand years. and also how he craves the sweet release of not just death but specifically total annihilation.
And on top of that his extremely homoerotic obsession with the Dragon as his inevitable opponent and counterpart to whom he is eternally bound in struggle until existence itself ends.
What a guy.
3. Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag. I feel like people have started to talk more about how Tuon is A Problem and absolutely they're right but I still love her very, very much, probably because she is A Problem. Tuon is just...she fascinates me. I want to put her in a terrarium and study her. I want to sit her down and ask her probing questions about her psychological processes. I want to follow her around and observe her like a tagged bird. You get the idea.
She's just...complicated, and not very nice, and not very good, and yet, and yet. She's a character who has bought completely and wholeheartedly into the Seanchan cultural mindset and perspective - but, regardless of the reader's view, the narrative never positions her as an antagonist. I think it's that complication/contradiction that draws me to her.
Tuon is someone who is really...seeing the world for the first time, when we meet her. Encountering real people and a real existence that isn't centered around her role and position and surviving assassination attempts. I feel like she has a lot to figure out, and while I don't think she's trying to learn...to a certain extent I think she's learning anyway.
...you know, it occurs to me that one could argue that Tuon goes through at least part of an accidental domestication arc. I will have to revisit this thought as I reread the last three books in the series.
4. Min Farshaw. I feel like in some ways this is more about me latching onto Min the first time I read the series for reasons I...cannot fully explain, really? I feel like if I'd read the series for the first time later on, I might not have adopted her quite so hard, but as it is I just. Love Min very much. I feel vaguely guilty about it sometimes. Yes, that is a very silly thing to feel and I am aware. I think it's just...she's relatively sensible, she's a secret nerd, she was/is a horse girl and she's one of the women in the series who is a little less traditionally feminine despite her clothing choice changes for Rand. That's probably part of why the adoption, actually. That would check out.
5. This is the spot that really fluctuates depending on when you ask me. The most common inhabitants, I'd say, are Nynaeve, Mat, and Aviendha, but my deep and abiding and somewhat inexplicable fondness for Semirhage now and again rears its ugly head. I feel like Aviendha's probably a good answer here, though. I mean. She was right there in my Livejournal username for years.

love ur kpop readings sm, do u find a lot of idols are willing to discuss personal topics / feelings within reason ofc? like its smth they can vent about if they want too or do some of them sometimes refuse to discuss particilar topics?
Hii anon!
Thank you a lot! 💙
Well for Hyunjin for example he really wanted to explain me how he felt, it seems that he felt at ease to talk to me because when I saw him he had his head down and eyes closed but that behavior of a friend that tells you « let me explain you… *sigh* ». I was flusttered in a way that he felt comfortable enough to tell me his feelings instead of letting his guides with me. Bangchan for example seems very honest and is mature whenever I connect with him. I seem to mostly connect with him than his guides but they are not far from him as well.
Also, San’s guides are open with me? I don’t know if they naturally are open with readers but when I was doing a reading an anon asked me (it got lost so I have to redo it 😭😬) his guides were very cheerful! Like « yes let us tell you! » lol. So if thet still trust me San and his guides could feel comfortable sharing personal things with me but I will keep to myself what they don’t want me to expose.
Jay felt really more excited to talk about relationships, he could be so romantic so he could be more open to that matter.
Jihyo is also mature, open yet somehow guarded/secretive. She still wants to have her own secrets. The same goes for Wounyoung but she is more friendly-like to me compared to Jihyo.
Hailey Bieber is also open and honest! She seems to be the type of person to make things clear and no doubts and uncertainty shall be left. She is fair, so if she had to talk about personal stuff she would be careful about what she shares and would want to make sure that what she feels is also felt by the reader.
BTS are open to many kind of questions except mental health and bad habits… they are more reluctant about it. Some are also protective of their FS.
But it also happens that sometimes idols share more than I want lol so I just brush it off and don’t write it or try to write it in a non intrusive way (because that’s part of the reading somehow) and a way the guides would accept.
I gave some examples about who is more open and who is more reluctant. It highly depends on the topic and how they feel around your energy (their guides and their own energy). I also have a theory but I am not sure yet so I won’t dwelve too far on this haha but that’s quite interesting to see who is comfortable in general and who is not! :)

Day 9
I can’t believe it has passed 9 days of school observation already. Everything has happened so fast! and I’m still processing what I have been able to experience in the school.
about my day…
This Tuesday our head teacher came back from her medical leave, feeling better than ever.
In comparison to her previous lesson, this time she seemed very reluctant and energized to direct her class.
Before starting, she made sure to ask every student <one by one>, how they were feeling, to test the waters…
And well, as you can expect… inside the classroom we can find different type of students. Some can be very interest in the lesson, some others are not very focused, and some don’t even bother to show a bit of interest on the class; and I been able to observe each kind.
Although it’s still difficult for me to find a way to approach those so called “difficult students”, I’m interested in getting to know what’s behind their attitude. Perhaps, they just need someone to talk to or a space in which they can feel some peace - who knows? - I wish I could get to know more about their backgrounds, but that seems not possible since I’m not legally working for the school.
Agh! Sometimes I wish I could do more than what I’m able to. The most I’m allowed to do is to ask if they’re okay, and from that, see if they’re comfortable sharing their thoughts. If they’re not, I’ll just go, but if they are willing to express their concerns I’ll be very happy to listen. However, I know that that’s not an usual situation inside the classroom. From what I have seen, students often have an attitude whenever they don’t feel okay. They have a tendency to not be very expressive with their emotions and prefer to be quiet at the back of the classroom.
Sometimes I wonder what’s on their minds.
Maybe there’s a need of socio emotional learning.
Not only because of those situations, but because it could be a useful tool to cope with demanding situations that students might go through in their lives.
— (i just noticed I wondered too much that I lost my first idea, I’m sorry, reader) —
… after doing that, she started the lesson by asking her students if they remember what they saw on their last class (which was weeks ago though) and they clearly said no, so she started to recall the content seen in order to refresh their minds.
Then she showed a ppt and started to explain it.
What caught my attention the most was the selection of the vocabulary. She putted 20 new words for students’ to learn on it, that were connected with a video.
Then, the students had to do a vocabulary activity with the words they learned and, in here, we (our group) have to intervene in order to help the students who were a little bit confused by the amount and difficulty or the words selected.
Regarding this point, what I was able to evidence was that students get usually confused by non-cognates. However, I’m not stating that cognates are easy for them because that’s not true, but students were able to suppose what they meant in Spanish by guessing.
Now, in regards of the vocabulary selected I was very concerned, too because of the selection of words because there was no connection.
For example: there was the word
Hater - Work of art - Make feel - Own
(These were taken from a video of Lana Del Rey, but in my perspective, they were very difficult for students to understand because her level of English is obviously very high in comparison to the proficiency level of students)
I’m NOT saying they are not capable of learning them. What I’m trying to say it’s that the material selected might not be the most appropriate thing to apply in relation to the actual level of English of the students.
Learners feel unmotivated when they notice they don’t understand, and we don’t want that.
However, the class went by and we help the students finish their work.
Then we had our break and here, we asked the Math teacher if we could go to his classes and he said that he was going to make students work in a worksheet and he didn’t need help (I was a little bit upset about this), but at least we had some time to eat peacefully.
Then we went to the last class of the day, and then we went home.
That’s it for that day

another attempt at building his own life came around the age of 16, when lestat disappeared with a travelling group of actors. he fell in love with performing. however, it didn’t last long. as days later he woke up to the actors gone and his brothers to take him home.
it isn’t until his twentieth year that lestat finally finds true freedom. he meets and befriends and violinist named nicholas, and upon his mother’s insistence that lestat know freedom, he travels with nicolas.
here, he gains a job as a backstage assistant in a theatre, while later being offered a shot at going on stage and becoming a professional actor. however, it is not long into this that something drastic happens. a change lestat was wholly unprepared for, when a man named magnus enters his life.
magnus kidnaps lestat and very soon after, he is made into a vampire. however, his maker quickly commits suicide and lestat is left to grapple with eternity on his own, adapting to his new life. however, as magnus’ only fledgling, he inherits all his wealth. and so, lestat buys the theatre he used to perform at, but tends to avoid contact with the human world he was once a part of, including nicholas.
in fact, it is during this time that lestat first gets a glimpse at other worlds: a mistake one night, leaving him falling through a portal to another world.
earth.
and somehow, later, others from his life back home come through and connect with him: his mother being one of these.
it isn’t until a while later that lestat’s mother, gabrielle, arrives in paris, dying, that a further change occurs in lestat: he forges his own first fledgling, changing his mother into a vampire to save her.
for months, they travel and live together, eventually taking in nicki and changing him too. many different events occur over this time, including lestat meeting and coming to know of armand and then by extension, marius. inevitably, this leads to lestat being fed some of marius’ ancient blood to regain his strength after burying himself in the ground for a time after his mother leaves him.
shortly after meeting marius, he takes him to see those who must be kept – akasha and enkil, the first vampires and rulers of their kind who appear as living statues. marius explains then how vampires came to being, and the next night, when lestat is alone, he visits akasha and enkil to try and wake them inspite of marius’ warnings against this.
his plan actually works, and akasha allows lestat to drink her blood as she drinks his. that is until enkil awakens in a jealous rage and attacks lestat. thankfully, lestat is saved by marius. marius then tells lestat to leave the island and although reluctant, lestat agrees. and this… is where he comes to new orleans. and meets louis de pointe de lac.
from here, the events unfold as is known: lestat, louis and later claudia spend some 60 years together, before going their separate ways. their time together is beautiful, but clouded with tragedy and pain.
over the years, there are a couple of occasions where lestat and louis reunite, but never for very long. perhaps… that is due to change.
especially now lestat is drawn back to storybrooke, a place where he can practically feel the magic coming through.

REFLECT (Oren)
send REFLECT for me to explain a traumatic event in my muses’s past and talk about their perception of events,  which parts have stayed with them longest and how it affects them now.  (  sender can request specific scenes/backstory  )
Tumblr media
For the most part, Oren wouldn't be considered a muse with trauma. His position of head of his coven COULD bring that but hasn't so far. But there is one incident that would be considered traumatic to him.
This incident occurred in his adolescence with some teenagers that were from magic families. He had thought to doing magic schooling such as those mages because their view on it was different from what he knew. His coven had been reluctant but Oren was a rather stubborn kid and if it brought positive relations (for once) then they'd let him try.
However, it didn't. Oren was bullied because of his curiosity of 'lower' studies rather than ones with strong foundations and the like. But it wasn't this that had scarred Oren. No, it was actually a magic fight that he was pulled into. He and his opponent matched each other over and over. But it was a cheap shot at his familiar, Vian, where it all went wrong. Vian doesn't have a particularly hardy vessel, being a dragonfly, so even with some deflection, it was enough to actually hit Vian and their surroundings.
Vian was buried and Oren had abandoned the fight in favor of searching for his familiar. But unable to find any trace other than part of a wing and unable to hear their voice through their connection, Oren believed that Vian was killed. While Vian would not truly die, their death meant the end of their contract and Oren was no longer their master and could no longer summon them.
The reality of this made him sick. It was no different from losing a dear friend or family member. He had gotten sick and despondent that his family came to bring him back home. He was inconsolable over the incident. But there was a silver lining. It took a lot of energy so they could not announce before hand but Vian made their way back to Oren. They hadn't perished but had been immensely injured and had to inch their way to some mana supply to recover themselves.
Despite the assurances, Oren always blamed himself for the incident. If he hadn't accepted the fight then maybe it never had to come to that. It also solidified ensuring protection to his familiar so that they would never have to part before the dissolution of their partnership. This led to the making of the malleable golem body that Vian tends to inhabit now in protection to their master. It also makes him reluctant to send Vian out for precarious magic situations and thus why he does things like his astral projection hacking himself.
It also solidified Oren's disdain of mages, which are any magic users that take strict discipline study (usually via an academia of some kind) and usually belonging to or upholding an elitism of magic. While he had reasons to dislike them, this just smeared it with the worst light. To him mages are blue bloods with no dignity or sanctity and makes it a personal, petty grudge to humiliate them when he can.

The connection that you had with Druig was different than the ones you had with the other Eternals.
It was strange to everyone else because you both couldn’t be more different. Druig was this brooding, sarcastic, and sometimes rude person. While you were this energetic, kind and the ultimate people person.
At parties, you were one of the few that was standing in the center laughing and dancing to the music. Druig would be a wallflower. He found enjoyment watching you smile and have the time of your life.
Whenever you all weren’t fighting off the deviants that plagued Earth, you were practically attached at the hip with Druig. He would make you laugh harder than you ever had. It was the simple moments with him that you enjoyed the most. The times were he would read you a story so that you could fall asleep. Or the moments during dinner where he would save you a seat beside him so that you could have a side conversation if needed.
Druig was always looking out for you in battle. He didn’t know how he would be able to function if something happened to you. The thought alone was unbearable to him. He genuinely thought that you’d be by his side forever.
Then, the events of Tenochtitlan occurred.
Everything that you had grown to know seemed to change all at once. Thena had Mahd Wy’ry. Ajak said that the only way to stop her from hurting herself and the others was to erase her memories.
She wouldn’t remember anything and you felt like your heart was shattering into a million pieces.
As everyone stood around waiting for Thena to wake up, you had a million thoughts roaming around in your head. You looked over at Druig and he seemed to be lost in his own mind as well.
When Thena did finally wake, you listened as Ajak explained to her what was going on. You held back the tears as Thena cried. Normally, she was the strong one in the group. You’d never seen her cry before.
Suddenly, Druig surprised you by voicing his concerns. “Why should she trust you? You’re asking her to let you erase who she is.”
“Druig,” Ajak said calmly, “I know you’re upset.”
“Upset?!” He shouted making a few of you jump in shock, “We’ve trusted you for 7,000 years and looks where you’ve gotten us. I’ve watched humans destroy each other when I could stop it all in a heartbeat. Do you know what that does to someone after centuries?”
Druig’s words weren’t a surprise to you. Lately he’d voiced that he wasn’t too sure that he could trust Ajak. You thought that maybe he just needed sometime to himself.
You moved closer to him and placed your hand lightly on his shoulder, “Dru.”
The tension in his body didn’t ease like it normally would’ve with your comforting touch. Druig was finally getting the words off of his chest that plagued him for so long now.
Druig turned away from your touch and looked over the carnage that was below.
“It ends now.” He said before controlling the minds of everyone that had been fighting. They all stopped and faced him.
Ikaris moved to try and stop him and you braced yourself for a fight between them. You had never so much as thought to fight the other eternals but you knew you would defend Druig with all that you had.
“Let him go.” Ajak ordered.
Ikaris looked like he was reluctant to do so but still listened to her.
Druig looked at you. You could see the pain in his eyes. You took a step closer to him and Ikaris grabbed your shoulder. “Don’t.”
You shrugged him off and went to stand in front of the man who unknowingly had your heart.
There were tears in his eyes. Druig looked at you as if it were the last time he’d ever see you again. Honestly, he wasn’t sure what you would do next. He knew how much you loved being around the others. He wouldn’t ask for you to trade your happiness for being with him.
“I have to do this.” Druig said to you.
You nodded, “I know. That’s why I’m coming with you.”
Druig shook his head, “I can’t ask for you to choose, (Y/n).”
“You’re not asking for me to choose. I know what I want to do and I want to be with you.” You said confidently. You knew if you stayed with the other Eternals, your heart would be wherever Druig was.
There was a hint of a smile on Druig’s face. “Are you sure?”
“I’ve never been more sure of anything.”

One Mind-Four
Tumblr media
Pairings: Druig x Eternal!Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, swears, and maybe some smut here and there.
Summary: For so long, the Eternals were on their own. That was until a Celestial event brought them all back together. Reader is reluctant to help because in order to do what her fellow Eternals are saying, she would have to connect with a century old love; one that she promised herself that she would never work with again.
A/N: I cannot even begin to explain how hard it is to find Druig gifs that work for each chapter. Tags are open!

Nasty teeth snarled down at me, the Deviants saliva covered my face as I tried my best to break free from its grasp, legs violently shaking. I did my best to try and locate a weapon or any kind of object that I could use against the Deviant.
“Y/N!”
I craned my head to the left and saw Druig making his way towards me, shot gun in hand. My vision was blocked from the sharp teeth smacking at me, desperately trying to get a taste, so that I wasn’t able to see Druig jump over the Deviant before running and jumping off of it, shooting it in the head.
I did feel, however, the blood splatter all over me, painting me in its dark amber color.
“Mother fucker,” I spat while heaving the large monster off of me.
Druig was quick to help me to my feet and began wiping the blood away from my face.
“Are you alright?”
I shrugged with a grimace and began to pull up my shirt to expose the fresh teeth wounds on my stomach; three of them.
He was on his knees to expect them, and I hissed with his fingers brushed against my hot skin.
“Fuck,” I cursed.
My eyes peered down at him and when I saw his mouth so close to the skin above the top of my pants, a place he had kissed many times before, I bit back a moan. His large blue eyes gazed at me, filled with worry.
“I’ll be alright,” I reassured him, fingers brushing the hairs from his face.
For a moment, everything around us fell underground, him and I being the only things in the middle of the Amazon. Our gazes were locked, breathing steady and in sync, and the fingers that were in his hair were now cupping his cheek. Druig leaned into my familiar touch, lips ghosting over my palm.
Any doubt I had, wondering if Druig and I could work things out, was pushed out of my body. We did have a lot to talk about and hopefully after this upcoming fight, we could get that chance.
Before we could say another word, Kingo’s yells brought us back to the current fight, and Druig was up on his feet in one swift turn. Gunfire rang around us and I took in the sight, a gasp falling through my lips.
A handful of the villagers had their own guns drawn, shooting at another Deviant that had found its way into the camp. But what shocked me most about the whole scene was their gold eyes.
The Deviant began fighting back against the stray bullets, slamming its tail into whoever, it could, bodies flying into random houses.
“Damn it, Druig,” I pushed at his back.
He stumbled a bit before turning his attention towards me, closing the new gap between us. He was so close now I could feel his warm breath fan over my lips and knew that if I lifted my chin even the slightest, our lips would touch for the first time in almost a century.
As much as I would have loved to taste them again, I stood my ground and nodded towards the villagers.
“Let them go.”
“Now is not the time, love,” he warned.
I pushed his chest this time. “Can you stop being a smug bastard for one minute and realize what you’re doing?!”
Bullets whipped past us while Druig shrugged. “It’s working, isn’t it?”
I shook my head as slight tears welled in my eyes. This Druig was different than the one I had left. This one had no remorse for controlling humans; the longer he controlled them, the less he cared.
My hands linked with his. “Please, Dru. You’re better than this.”
His eyes bounced from our hands to my face and my lips mouthed another please.
Druig let out a deep sigh and dropped one of our entangled hands, raising it to the air. Golden specks shone in his eyes and I watched as the villagers slowly dropped their weapons. They were confused as to what they had done, seeing the Deviant trapped under a large tree, thanks to Sersi.
“Druig,” one of them said. “What’s happening?”
“Go! Get to the river!” He demanded.
The river.
It was the plan, our plan, for centuries. If something bad happened that would cause us to leave everything behind, we would regroup at the river down the bend and figure out a plan for our new home.
I couldn’t tell Druig thanks because the Deviant broke free from it’s makeshift cage and began charging towards us.
“Move fast. Go!”
Druig directed me towards one of the small houses where we hid on the side of it. I looked for something to use as a weapon when Kingo asked for someone to buy him sometime.
A smirk curled at my lips when I saw a shovel a few feet away.
“I can only give you a few seconds!” I yelled.
Kingo nodded, powering him the flames at his fingertips. “All I need, sweetheart!”
“He’d always been a flirt,” Druig grumbled.
I simply gave him a wink before using my gaze to throw the shovel right into the Deviant’s head, knocking it back a few spaces; which gave Kingo enough time to slip underneath, shooting its head off with a blast.
“Karun, did you get that?!” Kingo yelled.
“I did, sir!”
Druig and I both looked towards the valet and groaned in annoyance.
“How the hell did he get another camera?” I asked, astonished.
Druig ignored my wonder and moved some hair from my face that began sticking to my skin, thanks to the other Deviant’s blood now drying.
“You need a shower,” he noted.
I scoffed. “You don’t smell all that pleasant, either.”
Suddenly we were both knocked onto our asses, Druig falling on top of me, as another Deviant slammed into us. We rolled in the leaves until coming to a stop against a tree.
“Oh, fuck me,” I groaned in pain.
My old wound began pooling blood into my hands and I squeezed my eyes shut.
Druig looked over his shoulder to see that the Deviant was now making a direct line towards us. His arms encased around me in a protective shield and I stared up into his eyes, a quick thought if this was going to be our last memory we shared together.
Ikaris fell from the sky, blocking the Deviant’s path with his laser eyes, and ripped its jaw apart.
“Show off,” Druig spat towards Ikaris.
I smacked the skin of his bare arm. “Forget your hatred for the man and help a lady to her feet, would ya.”
Druig slowly helped me to my feet, careful not to hurt me anymore that I already was, and forced one of my arms to wrap around his neck for support.
“I’ll take care of ya, don’t worry love.”
His sweet words fell on deaf ears because the scene in front of us had my full attention.
“What is it?” Druig asked.
I merely turned his face with a finger and a gasp fell from his mouth.
Sersi somehow managed to turn the Deviant into a tree.
All of our thoughts ceased when we heard Thena’s screams through the trees.
I pushed myself free from Druig’s grasp and sprinted towards Thena’s wails, ignoring his yells of protest.
“No,” I cried, feet coming to a sudden halt.
Gilgamesh lay dead in Thena’s grasp, her cheek pressed into his chest and muttering the same words over and over again.
“I’ll remember.”
Another one of the Eternals had fallen to the hands of the Deviants and I couldn’t help but question if Sersi’s plan was even worth it anymore.
