Persona 4: Kiri no Amnesia (Summary)
Tumblr media
I said I would do it, so here it is! I bought the Persona 4 spinoff light novel a couple of days ago, ran through it, and decided to write a summary since I don't feel confident enough to translate the whole thing page by page. For those who don't know, Kiri no Amnesia is a light novel set shortly after Yukiko's dungeon, covering an accidental trip into the TV World with just Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko. It was written in order to expand on the Shadows of the first two victims, Mayumi Yamano and Saki Konishi. It's not not canon, considering how it resolves in the end, but at worst I think it's some good insight for people who wanted to see more of Saki, like me.
There are no major spoilers for people who have played at least the first couple hours of Persona 4.
With that in mind...
The first part of the book is pretty slow and uninteresting. It basically functions as a recap of things up to this point, with the main trio (for this book: Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko) doing some training after school without Yu. This was before any supplementary material named him, so he's just referred to as "the transfer student" or "leader" in the narrative, and he's also absent for pretty much the entire novel due to certain developments.
Yosuke angsts about Saki a bit, but he tries to keep it to himself and puts on a bright smile so as to not worry the others. I found this part, and other parts like it pretty sweet, because Chie is really attentive to him when he gets in these moods. Being novelized means that a lot of the wacky anime hijinks are toned down, and so there's a surprising amount of very sincere bonding between the trio that we don't get to see in other P4 media.
When they leave for the day, Yukiko and Chie are the first to go, while Yosuke hangs back. Reflecting on a discussion about how they need to use the same TV to enter the same place, Yosuke gets lost in thought about how Saki must have been lost and afraid when she was thrown in. He's shaken out of his reverie by the sound of someone crying from one of the other TVs, but although he's curious about it, he stops himself before doing anything stupid.
The next day, the group meets up again to train, but Yu is late and sends a text saying to wait up. Then there's some filler about them hanging out, eating, bonding, etc, but Yu texts again saying he's later than he thought and to go on without him. Initially, they don't want to, but they do go over to the TVs where Yosuke once again hears the weird voice—which he doesn't mention to Chie or Yukiko, but he's distracted enough that they comment on it. He then asks them to cover him while he just checks inside, but of course he can't see anything without the glasses. He starts to get back out of the TV, but of course at that very moment, a wayward child shoves him in and Yukiko and Chie naturally follow.
They end up in what we will term Magatsu-Inaba, but to them it's just Inaba inside the TV. Shadow Inaba? Whatever. Everyone gets mad at Yosuke for being stupid, he apologizes, but he figures that they can just walk back to the entrance since they all know how to navigate Inaba. (Teddie can't reach them through the fog.) The problem is that they quickly discover the landscape is covered in black holes, blocking the easiest path back. They decide to take a detour to a nearby park, which Yosuke says he didn't know about, but there's someone already there when they arrive. Sitting on the swings alone is... Saki Konishi. (!!!!)
Yosuke understandably freaks out, and his first reaction is a mixture of shock and anger, since his initial assumption is that this is the Shadow that killed Saki. However, when he confronts her, she doesn't know anything, and I mean anything. She doesn't know who or what she is, and she doesn't even know what Shadows are. Yosuke has trouble being angry with her after that, and the trio has a quick meeting to acknowledge that she probably is a Shadow, and Saki's Shadow for that matter, but things are different because she doesn't seem malicious. Up to now, the human-like Shadows they've encountered have known TOO well what they are, but this girl doesn't know anything.
Putting two and two together, they come to the conclusion that there are holes in the landscape because "Saki" doesn't remember anything, and if they can get her to remember, then they'll probably be able to get back. This means traveling with her, which everyone makes their peace with. (Yosuke in particular says that he can't ignore someone who looks like Saki, despite everything.)The first roadblock they run into is that Yosuke can't call her Saki because she may nevertheless be the Shadow that killed her. Considering her condition, they decide to call her Amnesia.
They do some traveling, a Shadow shows up but it's way too strong and they bolt. When they find a place to rest, they sit for a little while and try to jog Amnesia's memory. Yosuke is clearly struggling with Amnesia's existence when she looks so much like Saki, so Chie intervenes and they have a little back and forth where Yosuke says something mildly funny and Yukiko explodes in laughter. Yosuke apologizes to Amnesia for Yukiko interrupting their important conversation, but she wistfully says it's okay, and she's jealous of people who can laugh. Yosuke is conflicted: he wants to help "Saki," but this is likely "Saki's Shadow."
He muses on his friendship with Chie and Yukiko for a little while, quietly grateful for them because they were the first people to welcome him and make him feel actually wanted in Inaba, and then Yukiko finally calms down. They decide to take a snack break with some supplies they had from the real world, so the trio+Amnesia split Yosuke's several Dr. Salt NEOs. After some discussion about how weird the flavor is, Amnesia mentions... she can't taste it! The trio calls an emergency secret meeting about how weird it is that someone can't taste Dr. Salt NEO, so Amnesia is absolutely a Shadow, but they can't do anything about it right now.
Incidentally, when Yosuke opens his, he accidentally sprays it all over Chie and Yukiko. Although they try to use their Personas to clean up, this will be important later.
Some other stuff happens, and Yosuke muses on the differences between Amnesia and Saki. Amnesia is much more self-deprecating and pessimistic than Saki he knows, and Yosuke knows from Saki's brother that she was a "good sister," so Amnesia just seems particularly sad. He tells her that she might not be the Shadow that killed Saki after all...
Amnesia's eyes suddenly glow bright yellow, and she starts muttering "I... killed... I killed... I..." over and over to herself. Although the trio prepares for a fight, Amnesia suddenly snaps out of it and seems to have forgotten what even happened. Weird!
They try to keep moving forward after that, but Chie and Yukiko complain about being sticky and they decide to reroute to Amagi Inn, since they're not making any progress with Amnesia anyway. Chie and Yukiko are excited, Yosuke cannot believe they're actually going to go to the hot springs in the TV World, and Amnesia is just trying not to be a nuisance.
The girls all take a bath while Yosuke stands guard, and shockingly, there's nothing particularly perverted about this scene. Amnesia and Yosuke have a little moment where, after Yosuke insists that Amnesia take a bath too so she can relax and try to recall something, she calls him kind and he gets flustered. After she, too, joins Chie and Yukiko, Yosuke worries that he's starting to see Amnesia and Saki as one in the same. He wonders what the difference is between a human and a Shadow with no malice, but he decides that's not a question he can answer.
In the meantime, Chie has a moment where it says she's gazing at Amnesia "with the gleam of an old man in her eyes" and comments to Yukiko how pretty Saki/Amnesia is, so she understands why Yosuke was in love with her. She fills Yukiko in on Yosuke's crush on Saki and really brings the mood down, but it's a nice moment where they acknowledge that Yosuke is really in pain and he's working harder than any of them to solve the case. Chie also raises the hopeful possibility that Amnesia is the real Saki, and the body they found was her Shadow.
After a bit, they move on to lighthearted girl talk and Yosuke tries not to pop a boner outside from listening to them (Yukiko asks Chie to "open her body") while waiting for them to finish.
Amnesia leaves first, and in a thoughtful mood, Yosuke asks what Amnesia would do if she could leave the TV World. She says she wouldn't leave. Although she doesn't remember anything, she feels like being here is a punishment she must serve for a sin she doesn't recall. Yosuke says she's strong for carrying that burden, but she says it's the opposite—she feels like she's probably running away from something.
Yosuke is about to hit her with the ultra smooth line of "if you have to run, run to me," but then he's suddenly interrupted by a Teddie Transmission warning them of a huge Shadow in the area. Yosuke panics because Chie and Yukiko are still in the bath and Amnesia can't fight, but he says he'll buy time while Chie and Yukiko get informed and dressed.
The Shadow speaks to him from a black hole that has appeared, and he notes that the voice is familiar, but he can't place it immediately. It asks him if Amnesia is important to him, and although he hesitates, he ultimately answers yes—to which the Shadow cheerfully promises that she'll kill Amnesia and drop her to the depths of hell.
Yosuke says he's not going to lose "her" again, and the Shadow gets angry, telling him that he's stupid for placing anyone else above himself. "You use whatever you can, you take whoever you can, even if that means you have to have an affair! Are you stupid?!" The Shadow is particularly hostile to the girls once they all rejoin, saying that she'll let Yosuke run away while she kills the others.
The Shadow is obviously super overpowered, and honestly there was a lot of fighting description here that I didn't care about so I skimmed it, but the critical part of this whole fight scene is that the Shadow is about to get a KO on Yosuke—but he suddenly hears Amnesia call "Hana-chan!" and feels a chain wrap around his arm to pull him out of the way in time. They manage to escape with some effort, but in the process, the Shadow destroys the Amagi Inn, to which Yukiko vows revenge.
Yosuke later compliments Amnesia on her chain moves, and Amnesia suddenly hears a voice within her saying that she prayed to forget this power. Her mind goes blank, and she can no longer remember what they were talking about. She's shocked to hear that she apparently did something in that fight.
There's a little bit of a drag here where they boringly make it to Shadow Junes and boringly hang out, but suddenly Yukiko and Chie feel incredibly faint. Yosuke summons Jiraiya to Dia them, but it doesn't seem to have any affect. Amnesia gets the feeling that she can do something, and so she folds her hands and, unbeknownst to her, casts Posumudi... because the Shadow onsen poisoned them! Duh!!
But the same thing happens again where she forgets what she just did, which by now, is something very bizarre that none of them are sure how to handle. They're afraid to push it after her short-circuiting earlier, and the trio acknowledges that trying to force her to remember might result in her going crazy... you know, like a Shadow. Yosuke once again privately muses on the nature of a Shadow, thinking, “If she looks like Senpai, talks like Senpai, and acts like Senpai, who cares if she’s a Shadow? …is a crazy thing to think, isn’t it? But I…”
At this point, to him, "Saki" and "Amnesia" are the same person.
Anywho, a little more of this and the Shadow from before shows up with yet another hole, and this time they recognize it as Mayumi Yamano's Shadow, and realize the holes are from her and not a result of Amnesia's memory loss. She transforms into Iwanaga(-hime), and in what may be a series first, Yukiko actually recognizes the legend. She says that after she got Konohanasakuya, she did some research, and Iwanaga came up as part of the story. She gives them a quick rundown, which is that Iwanaga and Konohanasakuya were sisters who were offered to a man for marriage, but Iwanaga was rejected because of her appearance. Chie comments on how rude it is to judge people on appearances and glares at Yosuke, who gets defensive.
I once again skimmed over the battle stuff because it truly is boring to read, but if you really need to know, Iwanaga is made of stone. Her schtick is that she feels like she's the most important person in the world and she doesn't care who she has to hurt to get what she wants. She loathes Misuzu Hiiragi and feels as if she was unjustly punished, since she doesn't see what's so bad about falling in love with a married man. Although even her Shadow seems to have truly loved Namatame, she really hates women and constantly refers to the girls as dumb brats. She calls Yosuke "little boy."
Anyway, things are looking bad. Yosuke tries to reason with her, saying that although she/Mayumi Yamano is guilty, she doesn't have to live her life full of this resentment. This does not work, despite Yosuke's best efforts, and she really starts to beat the hell out of Yosuke. More things happen, everyone does some cool moves, so on and so forth. Yosuke knocks Amnesia out of the way of an attack, but in doing so, he falls into one of the holes. Although he manages to catch himself on the edge, he's slipping and there's too much space for anyone to come save him. I liked this part, so I directly translated it.
“So this is it, huh?” An image of his “partner” appeared in his mind—the boy who helped them all awaken the power of Persona. “Sorry… I guess I’ll have to leave the rest to you.” Yosuke’s eyes naturally fell to Amnesia, who was gazing at him in horror. He gave her a smile as if to say “don’t worry.” “Satonaka and Amagi will keep you safe. They’re good people, so you’ll be fine.” His smile conveyed all this without words. —“He’s going to disappear.” Amnesia heard a voice from within her. “Will you taste the same regret you did when you killed me?” It was her voice. It was the voice of Saki Konishi. Amnesia was the embodiment of Saki’s latent desires—a Shadow. Saki’s desires had been calm, so Amnesia was not full of the same anger that characterized so many other Shadows. But a Shadow was a Shadow. Destruction was their nature. When the fog clears, that destruction manifests. And on such a day, Amnesia had killed Saki. Unable to bear this sin, Amnesia had erased her own memories. Every Shadow has a unique power from its individual identity. And the power given to Amnesia, borne of Saki Konishi, was called “Oblivion.” Saki Konishi had wanted to run away from everything that was keeping her trapped, to forget all her pain.
So, obviously, Amnesia is able to call on her powers after this, and she uses her chains to save Yosuke from the hole. Now that she's "awake," she's able to help in the fight, and she tells Yosuke that she can erase memories. They come up with a plan to erase Iwanaga's memories so that they can defeat her and/or get away, whichever comes first, but Amnesia needs to be able to touch her. Everyone comes together for their epic battle, and once again, a part I liked.
Yosuke was full of confidence [as he prepared to face Iwanaga]. Saki’s voice observed this from within. “Hana-chan always had this unreliable air about him… but I guess boys grow up fast when you’re not looking.”
Although Amnesia manages to touch Iwanaga and unsettle her, her power isn't strong enough and she just sends Iwanaga into a mindless berserk state. Amnesia realizes that there's only one thing left to do, and although she didn't want to show anyone this form, she realizes there's no choice.
Her body is consumed by black flames, and once again, here's a little translation.
Her body grew twice as large, and a black lace shawl covered her face. She wore a long, jet-black dress with lace gloves up to her elbow: clothes that one would wear to mourn the dead. The skin that was visible between sections of black was as pale as snow, and the chains that had previously only extended from her arms wrapped around her body several times, as if binding herself. She had the appearance of a human, but she was not: she was a Shadow, and her golden eyes gleamed from beneath the lace shawl.
Seeing this, Yosuke is briefly pained by the undeniable realization that this is the Shadow that killed Saki, but if Saki had just known about Personas, if she had known to accept her true self, then she wouldn't have died.
With Amnesia's magnified power, they all manage to defeat Iwanaga, and with her death, the holes clear from the landscape and Teddie is finally able to properly contact them. Amnesia changes back to her "human" form, ashamed, but the trio is openly supportive and grateful to her for helping them. Knowing that they'll be headed home soon, everyone encourages Amnesia to come with them. Amnesia thinks that she shouldn't, but in Yosuke's mind "a Shadow that could become a Persona" is no different from a human.
She agrees to walk with them, at least, and as Yosuke glances back at her conflicted expression, he thinks, "I hope you can smile someday, even if it's not for me."
Moving on to the final chapter, everyone reunites with Teddie, and they come up with the great idea for Amnesia to stay with Teddie. That way, they'll be able to keep each other company, and Teddie will be able to teach Amnesia about being a Shadow-but-not so that she can understand herself better. Feeling optimistic, everyone happily says their goodbyes. Yosuke waves to her and grins, telling her "See you tomorrow, Senpai!" before going back to the other side.
In the TV World, Teddie and Amnesia discuss the less positive reality. Amnesia is going to disappear, since the person she came from is dead. It's possible for her to live a little longer if she doesn't use her powers, but ultimately, no matter what she does, she doesn't have long left. Amnesia says that it's not a problem... because she's going to use her oblivion powers to erase herself. She saw how heartbroken Yosuke was about Saki's death, and she doesn't want to do that to him again. So, she considers it the kindest thing she can do for the people who were so kind to her to quietly and secretly disappear. Teddie protests, of course, but as he's tearfully insisting for her to stay... he suddenly stops, and wonders what he was just talking to himself about. He feels sad for some reason, but maybe he's just lonely because Sensei and the others haven't visited yet?
He hopes they come back soon.
On the other side, Yosuke and the others are actually at the moment just before Yosuke falls in, and everything is fine. Yu contacts them telling them he's on his way, so they go to the roof. Yosuke realizes, however, that he feels strangely sad, and his chest hurts like he's lost something. Chie asks why he looks like he's about to cry, to which Yosuke actually does start to cry. Yu arrives at the same moment, and Yosuke hurriedly turns away so Yu can't see him shedding any tears.
Yu apologizes for being so late, and explains that he lost track of time helping a sick cat near his house. Yosuke, still sniffling, demands what's more important—them or a cat?! But when Yu turns thoughtful, Yosuke realizes that that's the type of person Yu is. He helps anyone, no matter who they are. He turns back to Yu and tells him that it's okay, because he wouldn't be Yosuke's partner if he didn't stop to help a cat, and then Chie and Yukiko make fun of him for having a runny nose.
Yosuke thinks to himself he's so glad that he has these people as his friends, but he can't help but feel he forgot something important as they leave. From the TV, he thinks he hears someone whisper "yes, you did, but please don't try to remember," but he writes it off as his imagination.
The End.
Despite this being a way longer summary than I set out to write, I did leave out a lot of small, non-plot-important details. If you love P4 and you can read Japanese, it's probably worth it! Yukiko and Chie are especially good in it and have lots of great friendship moments with each other and with Yosuke as well. I was really surprised by Yosuke and Yukiko's friendship, in fact, since I feel like the game and especially the spinoffs have kind of given the impression that Yukiko doesn't like him very much? But she respects his conviction here, and they're a great team. It was really cool to see how the three of them interact without Yu, and it gave a lot of insight into what their friendship might have looked like before he showed up.
Overall, I was really satisfied with this and I kind of regret that there weren't more novels like this. I thought Saki's Shadow was cool, and it was really interesting to see Mayumi manifest with such viciousness. Chie even comments that it's hard to feel bad for her!
Like I said, there is some other minor stuff I left out for ease of reading, so if you have any questions about stuff, feel free to ask!

god fuckign dammit i cant stop thinking about thefucking hospital scene
just rewatched it and i don't want to spend 5 hours formatting a long unhinged twitter thread so here we are. i am mishmashing the game and anime and manga scenes together in my personal canon blender. p4 spoilers of course
cause like, naoto is the one to suggest they throw namatame into the TV. and kanji's on board with it too. but the one yu has to fight over it, the one yu has to think carefully about and talk down, is fucking yosuke hanamura.
of course everyone has a personal stake in it considering namatame was going around kidnapping everyone, but yosuke specifically...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he phrases it like "we have to stop him before he hurts anyone else," but it seems like a big part of his motive is revenge. saki's kindness meant a lot to him, regardless of how real it was, or selfish his motive is, and it wasn't fair she had to die. so now he's gonna kill namatame. and it doesn't matter if that goes against his morals, or if no one else is willing to do it. he is absolutely dead set on killing namatame (pun intended). the only thing stopping him from doing it is yu.
it's ironic looking back. because like yosuke, namatame also lost someone important to him, and is trying to use his power to do what he thinks is right in his own way... just like yosuke wanted to be a hero, namatame wanted to be a savior, but yosuke is too blinded by rage in the moment to see that. the big difference is who got to them first. yosuke's had yu with him the whole time to keep him grounded, and eventually, the whole investigation team- namatame got adachi.
(side note- i more often think about yosuke+adachi parallels; how they're both bored with everything, but yosuke has the team and adachi pushes everyone away, but that's not really relevant rn lol)
there's also the scene where yu goes to confront the true killer alone, and yosuke's waiting outside when he comes back. and at that point he's not angry anymore, just… disappointed. (feelsbadman) but i don't think it's because he changed his mind.
after you calm him down in the hospital, he's STILL thinking about doing it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(another side note- the va in this scene is top notch. this line gave me chills rewatching it. first time i saw the hospital scene i was getting a little scared lol)
and after learning the true killer's identity he fucking hates adachi. even after defeating him he never really forgives him. he still gets pissed and tries to attack adachi when he shows up unexpectedly in ultimax:
Tumblr media
yosuke was 100% willing to kill someone, and he'd 100% do it again if his partner gave the okay. but as much as he hates adachi, he understands that he's important to yu, enough to know yu would break their promise and sneak into the TV alone. and despite how he might feel, he doesn't want yu to lose someone important to him too.
there's also the scene in the anime after the hospital, where after yu tries to send everyone home promising he'll be okay, yosuke comes back to comfort him. he's still upset, but he's deferring to yu's leadership and more importantly, making sure that his partner is okay comes first.
that's why i think it's great the anime puts the fist fight after the hospital scene. cause he spends his whole social link struggling with his grief and insecurity and jealousy; and then, in december, with tensions running high and these nasty revelations about himself and awful feelings swirling inside, it all finally comes to a head. and he tries to get it all out in the only way he knows how: two dudes beating the shit out of each other. Thats True Love Babey.
not much of a point to all this, except that i really love yosuke's character (and souyo) lol. something is wrong with him. I Know What He Is. he's like the team mood maker and he's always joking around (and i think golden especially looooves to play him up for comic relief), but perhaps the moments when he lets the veneer slip are the moments where he shines the most.

Thinking about Yu having a shadow + a palace is interesting because of the possibilities.
But here one idea for it:
Yu's shadow is a malformation of everyone's shadow.
Let's think about it!
Yosuke: The feeling of covering your feelings with surrounding yourself with people; to not be alone. Yu contently surrounding their self's with bonds to not be alone.
Chie: The feeling of surrounding yourself with people that NEED you. To make yourself feel superior and cover your inferiority. Yu is constantly surrounded by people who are willing to traumadump on to them, He is constantly surrounded by people who have "worster" problems then him. Which can easily turn into a "[Blank] has it worse then me" "compared to everyone else I have no issues".
Yukiko: Waiting and longingly wanting someone to SAVE you from your own helplessness. Yu's feeling of the town, their situation, the feeling of wanting to run away from there and go back home. OR! Yu hoping that somebody anybody would love him to get rid of this feeling of inadequates, to help him run away from the the expectations of everything.
Kanji: Hiding Your feelings (and sexuality) with machoness (or being a chad in this case) to protect yourself from denial of acceptance. Yu becoming a chad and is conveniently perfect at everything didn't come out of no where. It's a front that keeps people around, something that gives a machoman leader that no one question.
Rise: Willing change yourself to satisfy others in such big extent and losing yourself in the making. This can be it's own post but heres a summary. In every social link Yu has to say what the person want him to say, do what they want him to do instead of being their self or just being a regular friend. Yu has to be the PERFECT friend, the PERFECT leader, the PERFECT student, the PERFECT big bro, the PERFECT partner.
Naoto: Making yourself more MATURE to fit with the adult of society so you can be USEFUL and not just thrown away. If it wasn't a issue enough that Yu feels like that have the responsibility on fixing their friends problems then Yu fixing the adults problems as well is. Yu makes themselves more mature for their age to be relied on not just their friends but grownups as well.
Namatame: Helping people to the point where your superiority complex turns into a savior complex. In every social link Yu fixes the problems in that person's life.
Adachi: Interestingly enough Adachi motif is what I imagine Yu's original feelings about being in Inaba. Yu knows he's only going to be here for a year, they're not going to be here long. So what's the point of making friends and getting cozy with people if it's not going to matter in the end. Just get good grades, keep your head low and everything will be fine.
!BONUS! Mitsuo: This was explored in the anime but let me still cover this. The feeling that no matter how much effort Yu does to people please, to be useful, mature, manly and ect. It all didn't matter, all his friendships and bonds were just superficial, no matter what Yu will always be a empty human-being and no one would want to stay with a lying manipulative savior complex. So why try fighting it? just accept it, You'll always be alone.
All of this leads to my idea that Shadow Yu will hold much more respect for the IT then Yu but still babys everyone. Thinking that he's the ONLY one that can fix you by becoming what you want. Shadow Yu would constantly traps you, making sure you don't LEAVE the palace so you don't LEAVE HIM.

-of course, he too would paint you mugs and bowls, and he would paint it with designs or colour that remind you of him
-his stomach would be full of butterflies every time he would see you use the mugs or bowls that he painted, or he would see you flaunt it to others that he made it for you
-he would imagine domestic mornings with you drinking coffee/tea from the matching mugs you both made for each other(the thought makes him giggly and kick his feet)
"I painted your favourite flowers." "I painted you as a duck chio^^"
Sawamura shoji: baking dates
-flirts with you the whole time but acts like he's doesn't know that he's doing it
-is a sucker for doing clichés with you in the in he kitchen like back-hugging you while mixing something, tying your apron for you, putting up your for you, etc...
-smears frosting on you, then makes out with you with the excuse he's "just cleaning you" up
-his favourite part of the while baking process is when he two of you would be washing the dishes while cake is baking in the oven, like sachio doing something domestic with you makes him fold
-makes bomb ass coffee/tea drinks for the cake
"I like the cake, but I prefer your cake anytime." "excuse me-"
Odajima yuken: shopping dates
-goes to 12 different stores with you and you will not leave without buying something
-YOU.WILL.NEVER.PAY.FOR.ANY.THING. You? paying for something? Over yuken's rich, hot, gorgeous dead body
-will buy you everything you try on or you say that looks good
-if he tries something on or look at something the you say "it looks good on him" or "it'll look good on him" he would definitely buy 10 different versions of that clothing item
-Ice cream after the whole shopping trip is ESS.EN.TIAL.
"Your ass looks too good in that. Don't buy that." "That is a... very confusing comment yu"
Shoji sameoka: late night drives
-already has a playlist for your late night escapes playing in his car
-hums along or sings along to every song in the playlist with you, while his hand would tap the steering wheel to the beat, and the other would be holding your hand
-buys some snacks and let's you feed him while his driving
-admires how beautiful you look while the blind is blowing your hair
-your destination would be the beach. He would just love to lay in the sand with you while the breeze caresses your faces slowly, and the waves would slowly mix into music that would play from his phone
"Why are you looking at me like that, sho?" "Because I would rather admire you than the stars"
Nakagoshi ooki: music shop dates
-serenades you with a guitar, he randomly picked up
-he has like a bunch of songs dedicated to you already, and if you ask, he would play them for you
-he would stop and just listen if he hears singing or humming along to the song that was playing in the shop
-loves it when you would design/draw on his picks
-he would buy all the songs you recommended to him
"My music taste is your face." "ooki, as much as sweet, that is, I really don't get it"
Tsuji: skateboard Park dates
-now, this could go two ways, but let's go with if you don't know how to skate
-would be very protective of you while teaching you, he would never let you go so you wouldn't trip
-but if you do trip while learning and get like scratch, wound, or a bruise from it, he would immediately start acting as if it's the end of world
-and if you just wanna watch to avoid that whole fiasco of tripping, tsuji would show off and do some extra tricks in front of you
-while walking home from the park, the wo of you would make stops and random food trucks you see on the road, and of course you guys would buy some, then continue walking while eating the food you bought
"We are never skateboarding again." "it was just a small scratch tsuji"
Shibaman: arcade dates
-his immediate goal would be to win that giant bear that you can only get via tickets, for you
-fails miserably at the claw machine a million times before admitting defeat
-the both of you ATE THE WHOLE PLACE on that just dance machine
-you lowkey beat his ass at those shooting games, but he did redeem himself in the basketball games
-at the end of day Shiba did not win you that giant Teddy bear but still you got a cute but smaller stuff toy, Shiba swears(on smokey's grave) that he will win you that giant Teddy bear
"I swear on all my ancestors' grave that I will win you that bear, babe." "Shiba its okay-" "NO ITS NOT" "oml-"

so basically, yukiko has a big fat crush on chie but chie doesn't feel the same since she's the token hetero, and chie's had crushes on every guy on the investigation team at some point but eventually raised her standards after realizing her own self worth. you go girlboss. in the meantime, rise's got feels for yukiko but she can't say anything because unfortunately all of inaba is under the compulsive heterosexuality spell.
elsewhere, kanji used to have the hots for naoto but those feelings kind of faded, and after he sorts out his problems with his bi-ness good ol' yosuke comes to him with his own sexuality crisis and they talk it out for a long long time, and in that timespan they definitely shared a kiss but decided that's really gross and they're not going down that path.
yosuke's so totally into yu anyway who feels the same but they're both too scared to confess because they think the other is too good for them, also yu's too busy secondhand experiencing homosexuality through involuntarily watching his uncle and his twink coworker get it on while they're drunk. please, there's children watching.
naoto's the one responsible for rise's aro awakening since they also sat down and had a big talk about queerness with a capital q, where they concluded she was not straight, not lesbian, not mspec, but a secret fourth thing and those feelings she has for yukiko were definitely not what she thought they were. (QUEERPLATONIC!!!)
naoto might have thought they had a crush on someone on the team at some point, but really they're just experiencing friendship for the first time and don't know how to handle acceptance other than wanting to gather everyone up and kiss their faces all over. me too naoto, me too.
teddie is just sitting back and watching all of this unfold. he doesn't get why relationships are so complicated. me neither teddie, me neither.

Okay, so the closeted queer vibes I'm getting from Yosuke are honestly off the charts. Maybe it's my rainbow lenses, but can we talk about how he's constantly making comments like how he bets Yu is good with his hands? And him asking whether Yu is attracted to Chie or Yukiko felt less like bro talk and more like putting out feelers without realizing it. He's also pretty upbeat about Yu being his "partner" but switches back to saying he "doesn't know him that well" when Chie starts grilling him over whether or not Yu has a crush on her or Yuki.
His attitude around the girls reminds me a bit of Richie in Static Shock. Remember how he's canonically gay, but they couldn't actually show it, so they just made him the most unconvincing straight guy ever, being all "Oh yeah. Girls! I totally like girls! Look at how hot that girl is!" Yeah, I'm getting similar vibes.
I also just entered the Kanji part of the game, and understand that Yosuke's attitude is...to put it kindly...blatantly homophobic asshole.
That being said...there was a time for me around that age when I was utterly terrified at the very idea of being attracted to "another woman." I had a full-blown panic attack in middle school when I thought I had a crush on someone who wasn't a guy. I would use "gay" and "lesbian" as insults because that was what kids in my white Catholic childhood home did.
It wasn't until mid high school that I started seeing things differently. A lot of it happened because some of my friends started coming out, and I wasn't about to disown or be a jerk to them! Eventually, I started watching whatever queer media I could find, and found myself fascinated by it. But I wasn't about to let any of my classmates SEE what I was reading!!! Hell no!!!
It wasn't until college that I allowed myself to be fully out. And that was when I was able to start actually exploring my identity. I realized I was nonbinary. I spent years thinking I was pan, because I was always able to appreciate the beauty of all genders and had had platonic crushes before, and finally realized in the past few years that I'm aro/ace.
Being a teenager in rural Japan in the early 2010's, I'd imagine that Yosuke would have even fewer options than I did at that time. Not excusing his behavior, mind you, or my own back in the day, but I definitely feel like there's some extra context here, even if canon says otherwise.

Autistic Anime Boys Side A Round 1 Match 11
Tumblr media
Propaganda:
Yu -
"Like all Persona protags, he hardly canonically speaks. Seems too cool for school but is actually just a cringefail guy who loves his little sis Nanako, likes to fish and make beef stew, and also likes cats. He also solves murders with his friends and forcibly teach people the power of friendship! And to paraphrase one of my mutuals, "I love Yu because he just stands there like •_• and then everyone falls in love with him. Gets accused of dating like every girl he meets, gets teased by every girl on the investigation team, has whatever he has going on with Yosuke. This kid and his autism swag". Oh yeah there was also originally gonna be an option for Yu to romance said Yosuke guy, including the confession dialogue being recorded in both Japanese and English, but it was removed because ALTUS hates gay people </3 But don't worry because there's a mod that adds this option back in because the devil works hard but gay JRPG fans work harder."
Sechs -
"As a teenager his father reveals to him that he's actually not human and then he essentially intellectualizes his own crisis toward that so hard that he talks himself into enacting a doomsday plan to make all life cease to exist so technically nobody will suffer anymore. So he takes two of his fellow wizards both of whom are absolutely infatuated with him (one of which is the closest the BlazBlue series gets to a canon gay man imo), takes a super powerful weapon from his father and in a sort of misunderstanding slash random event ends up killing him, and then the three of them flee the country and start trying to act out his plan. He pretty much just stares at people silently and only talks occasionally, when he does it's usually either a short sentence that is either blunt or vague. His magical attribute is gravity magic idk as someone with vestibular/proprioceptive sensory issues gravity magic is an autistic as hell magic to master in. He also has a funny name. In the joke route he is also written adding a sort of gap moe attribute to his tendency to not talk a lot where he stops talking in any instance where he's thrown off a social script or doesn't know what to say, and in the gatcha spinoff of course because they have to make him at least cooperate with you he tends to read as less overtly evil and more just having low empathy and a strong sense of his form of "justice." There is so much more I could say about him he's one of my favorite characters in the entire BlazBlue extended universe he's just a very cool character both as a villain and a circumstantial ally. Vote for funny guy named sex as a win for autistic emo twinks everywhere."

Anyways since I'm writing an au for once I think it's the perfect time to post about another
Persona 4 Magic au
So those of you who follow me or recognize me (hi!! Welcome back!!) Well you might say "Scream"- that's me, -"you have a Persona 5 Magic au, is this the same universe?" And my answer is
Uh. Sure. It can be I guess
Anyways let's talk about shit
Yu Narukami is a witch. His parents were both magic users, but had outer sources of magic. As a witch, Yu can cast spells and shit with the magic within him. His parents are going abroad for a year and send him to live with his uncle in Inaba, with a catch
His uncle knows nothing about magic, so Yu had to pretend to be a normal human for the whole year
He's never had to hide his magic before, so it'll be a real challenge for him. But, he's willing to try
...yeah it doesn't go well
When he shows up, he can already feel magic within the town. There are magical beings present and almost immediately, someone turns up dead in a mysterious fashion. No one else can see the gills on the woman's neck but him, or so he believes
Yu becomes fast friends with a few kids in his class that really stink of barely-hidden magic.
Yosuke Hanamura, with his prominent canines and his suspiciously homemade juice boxes
Chie Satonaka, with her boundless energy, knowledge of the moon, and her love of meat
And Yukiko Amagi, who stares so oddly. He doesn't have much evidence for her yet, but he will
Then, a third year turns up dead. Yu sees the little horns on her head when he sees her on TV the night before. Another magic person is dead.
Then, Yukiko goes missing, and everything gets started
Okay that's it for me talking like that I'll lay out what the plot is and what everyone is and shit
So basically. Adachi is a seer, a human who can tell when someone's magic, and he finds out that the entrance to Mirror Inaba is in the TV. Plus, every monster he tossed in, died. So he sets up a plot to get monsters kidnapped and shit cause "they're subhuman anyways, I should be allowed to have fun with them"
Yu Narukami is a witch, as I said
Yosuke Hanamura is a vampire! He was a born vampire, but his mom is human so. His traits are real watered down. He's fine in the sun and can eat small amounts of garlic, but he still drinks blood
Chie Satonaka is a werewolf! There's a small werewolf pack that's been in Inaba for generations, and she's a member. Born a werewolf, she's really connected with her animal self, and is in control during full moons
Yukiko Amagi is a Fox Selkie, but her coat is an abnormal colour due to the fact that her grandfather was a Kitsune. As a fox she's mostly dark red with a white belly, eyebrows, and tail tip, but her paws are black, as are the tips of her ears. She can make vague illusions, and her coat stays locked with her mother's at the inn
Kanji Tatsumi is half Oni. His mom is human, but his dad? Full Oni. He has an older brother that lives with his dad, since both of them can't hide their demonic traits. Kanji looked human enough as a kid, but he's just started sprouting his horns and his teeth are a little larger. Plus, he's real tall and big
Rise Kujikawa is a daughter of Hathor, the Egyptian goddess of Love, beauty, music, dancing, pleasure- you get the gist. Her mother is her birth parent cause I said so. Her grandmother is a potions master, and Rise has decided to learn the craft as well
Naoto Shirogane is the youngest of the Shirogane Animal Shifters. The bloodline has been watered down over the years, to the point where the only animal form Naoto can take is a snow leopard. His markings are closer to blue shades than whites and blacks, and there's a little butterfly spot right on his chest
And Teddie is from Mirror Inaba. He is the only conscious being there, and grants protection to the team when they go to save people. He's not sure what he is, but he looks like a bear. Maybe.
Anyways yeah. Monster crew. Please ask me about this I'm proud of it

Junpei has quickly found that Ken’s dungeon is fucking weird.
While reminiscent of Tartarus, there’s an almost haunting aspect to it that sends chills down his spine. It has a few reflections of real life in it that seem unnervingly out of place.
Framed photos of SEES and the Investigation Team, snapshots from his memories of everyone. Junpei sees him and Fuuka playing tag at the Naganaki Shrine the last night before Nyx’s awakening.
He sees Shinjiro and Kotone dangling from the jungle gym- Shinjiro is upside down, beanie clutched in his hand, off his head.
He sees Ken and Akihiko messing around on the slide, discussing ways to slide down it. He sees Makoto sitting on the steps to the offeratory box, a smile on his face and headphones sitting beside him. There’s no music playing in his ears tonight. He’s enjoying the moment as much as everyone else, in his own special way. Koromaru sits beside him, tail a grey blur and his red eyes shining in the moonlight.
He sees everyone having fun together, and feels an odd twinge in his chest.
Shaking himself free from the memories, he continues on his way through the dungeon.
The Investigation Team, thankfully, seems to know what they’re doing. They work together to take down Shadows, because even separated into different groups they still work together. It’s impressive, seeing the way they all mesh together in a fight. He’s especially impressed by Naoto and Kanji, how effortlessly they work together and how seamlessly their attacks blend.
It reminds him of Akihiko and Shinjiro, if he’s honest.
When he recalls how many floors there were in Tartarus, he groans in mild frustration. 264 floors, and they’re only on the second floor.
“Yo, Fuuka,” he grumbles as he, Aigis and Chie brave the dangers of the now-third floor. “How many floors are in this thing?”
Fuuka doesn’t answer. Rise makes an almost strangled-sounding noise in his earpiece.
“What the... That’s way more floors than usual!” She cries, and Junpei’s stomach sinks.
Aigis glances back at him. “The rough estimate is fifty,” she answers, and Chie stumbles.
“How many!?”
Junpei just sighs, swinging his sword. “Better than two-hundred sixty-four floors, at least.”
Aigis nods, then glances around the corner. Yu’s group is fighting with ease, Yosuke and Yu bouncing around and shouting to each other.
They move on, and so does their own little ragtag group.
When they ascend the stairs, a voice rings out across the entire dungeon.
“I’m so sorry.... It’s all my fault...”
“What the- What’s that!?” He asks, and Chie winces.
“In a dungeon, the creator of it can sometimes... Speak. Actually- no, it’s more complicated than that,” she says, and Junpei leans against the wall. The floor has no Shadows, so they have at least a little time.
“A dungeon shows the turmoil of someone’s heart. Kanji’s was a bathhouse, representing his desire to hide in the fog. Naoto’s was a lab, representing their desire to change. It sorta varies from person to person. In a dungeon, the person’s Shadow can ‘speak’. It’s more of a reflection of their innermost thoughts, but it comes out as their voice. Yukiko wanted to run away from her problems, Rise wanted to have control over her own life. Those thoughts were reflected by their Shadows. Make sense?”
Aigis frowns. “What do you mean ‘their’ Shadows? Shadows can belong to people?”
Chie nods. “It’s normal for people to have them. They’re formed by a suppression of thoughts. Mine formed because I didn’t want to accept the fact that I thought I was better than Yukiko, that she depended on me for everything. But once I accepted that, once I started working on myself to change that, then my Persona formed instead. That’s happened to everyone... Well- except Yu. He’s a special case, I think.”
“So... Can anyone have a Persona?” Junpei asks, and Chie nods after a moment of hesitation.
“Probably. I mean, if people accept their Shadows, then yeah.”
Junpei falls silent. Do the others in SEES have Shadows? Would accepting them mean their already-evolved Personas got a boost? Would their Personas change?
“...Let’s keep moving. We can’t afford to waste time,” he says finally.
There was a time and a place for contemplation, he's learned. And this wasn’t either of them.
Faintly, he can feel Trismegistus stirring. Chidori was with him, encouraging him to fight for the truth and his friends. That thought makes the prospect of his Persona evolving further even more terrifying.
He doesn’t want to lose her a second time.
i was honestly expecting the SEES to be absolutley SHOCKED that the number of floors in a dungeon was about 12 instead of 264 but also makes sense for ken's to have a large amount since hes used to 264 floors. the kens voice... baby its not your fault dont worry GAHHH!! SEES learning how shadows work in p4. im excited to see ken's shadow in this au... what he'll be like. also all the memories in his dungeon... he values everyone so much which also ties into his guilt... ALSO CHIDORI!!!! AHHHHH

if you’re still taking requests, can you do Yu just teasing Yosuke? Also with Yosuke getting very flustered?
Sorry it's been so long since I've done one of these - I'm still planning on doing them, it's just been a couple of months lmao.
Their little banter is always really fun to write though
“C’mon, Yu, Partner, please. Just this once.”
“No, you’re never going to learn if you don’t do it yourself.”
“I know how to do it. It’s just so much work.”
“I’ll check it for you when you’re done, but you can’t copy mine.”
Yosuke sighed, leaning forward, resting his cheek against his math worksheet sitting on the coffee table he was sitting in front of, staring up at Yu. He was sitting on the couch, legs crossed as he read his book.
He had come over to Yu’s house to get some homework done, but now that he was there, all he wanted to do was anything besides homework. Yu had already finished all of his before he had gotten there, so he was just relaxing while he had to work. It wasn’t fair.
“You know, if you let me copy it, then we’ll have more time to hang out.”
“We’ll also have more time to hang out if you stop complaining about it.”
“Not even to make out?”
Yu hummed, looking up from his book. “Not interested.”
Yosuke pouted, sitting up straight. “That’s rude.”
Yu opened his mouth, but as he looked at him, a smile started tugging at his lips. “You have a little something.” He tapped his cheek.
“Huh?” He reached up, wiping at his cheek. What could he have possibly gotten on it? “Did I get it?”
Yu bit his lip like he was trying to keep from laughing. “It’s still there.”
He wiped it again, harder this time. Nothing was coming off on his hand.
“Here, let me,” Yu said, setting his book down.
He knelt down next to him, putting his fingertip in his mouth before reaching toward his face with it.
He leaned back. “Why’re you putting your spit on my face?”
“It won’t come off otherwise. Besides, it’s not the first time my spit has been on your face.”
He let out a noise he didn’t even know he was capable of making, his face heating up. “Yu!”
“Am I wrong?”
He looked down at his lap. “No.”
Yu placed his fingertip against his face, wiping off his cheek - presumably getting off whatever was on it. “There.”
“What was it anyway?”
“Pen.”
“Pen?” How had pen gotten on his face? He looked down toward his worksheet, a realization coming over him. He had started writing on the worksheet in pen right before he had asked Yu if he could copy his. It must have still been wet when he had put his face down on it.
He groaned, rubbing his face with his hands.
Yu hummed. “Don’t worry. You’re still cute even with pen on your face.”
He let out an involuntary squeak, turning away from him. How did he always find the most embarrassing thing to say?
Yu grabbed one of his hands, pulling it away from his face. “Even cuter now. In fact, I would say that you’re one of the cutest guys in the world.”
Through the intense embarrassment that flashed through him, one thing stood out to him. “One of?”
“There might be someone cuter than you.”
“Who?”
“I don’t know. I haven’t seen every guy in the world.”
He pouted, crossing his arms over his chest. One of? Why only one of?
Yu let out a laugh, wrapping an arm around him. “So far you’re the cutest guy I’ve ever seen.”
Despite himself, his heart started beating faster. Why did hearing him say that make him so happy?
Yu leaned forward, pressing his lips gently against his cheek. “You are really cute. In fact, you’re super handsome, and adorable, and pretty, and gorgeous, and-”
Yosuke cut him off, his face growing warmer with each word. “Yu!”
“What? It’s true.”
“It’s embarrassing.”
“You’d better get used to hearing stuff like that.”
“Maybe you should stop saying things like that.”
He hummed consideringly. “No.”
“No?”
“I’m not going to stop because I love you and I want you to know that.”
His heart was racing in his chest. Hearing him say that made him strangely giddy. “Fine, I guess if you’re really set on it.”
Yu smiled warmly at him. “I am. Now though, you need to get your work done.”
He groaned. He had forgotten about that part.
Yu looked at him for a second before grabbing a pen off of the table beside him, clicking it open, then taking his hand, starting to write on it.
“What are you doing?”
“Writing something important.”
“What?”
“You’ll see.”
He waited until he let go of his hand, then flipped it toward him so he could read what he had written.
It was three words written in Yu’s neat handwriting, surrounded by a circle of hearts.
I love you
He was starting to get used to living in a world where his face was always way too hot. “You’re embarrassing. But…” His voice got very quiet. “I love you too.”

hi its me, that aromantic anon back at it again 👋
id like to politely request for yet another platonic x gn!reader, but this time with rise kujikawa. both her and reader jokingly flirt with each other a lot, but its all 100% platonic, no matter what anyone else thinks. (also if you want you can have the reader try to be her wingman, she gotta get that seta/narukami ass somehow /j)
please and thank you
┃Platonic! Rise Kujikawa x gn reader
₊˚⊹♡ wc: 720~
₊˚⊹♡ warnings: not proofread, fluff, silliness
₊˚⊹♡ Pillow Talks: I love your asks aromantic anon! Also the wingman part is so funny to me and simultaneously so real
₊˚⊹♡ Masterlist
“Looking like a snack as usual, Rise!” You wink in her direction, and she jokingly gasps, covering her cheeks in faux embarrassment.
“Y/n, stop iittt! You’re making me all hot and bothered!” Rise returns your wink with a charismatic one of her own, and soon you’re both giggling at the ridiculousness of said interaction.
The others look unamused, quite used to your antics. You and Rise are like two peas in a pod, often flirting with one another, albeit in a joking manner. You both know you’re just joking so it’s all in good fun.
“Geesh Rise, if you really feel that way about Y/N why don’t you make a move already? We all know you have the charm for it.” Yosuke mumbles. Chie voices her agreement beside him. Rise’s eyes light up in what you suspect to be a similar manner to your own.
She moves closer to you, batting her eyelashes playfully as you mockingly swoon over her. You chuckle when she wraps her arms around you in a hug, squealing when you return it. Yukiko starts laughing uncontrollably as Kanji makes a remark that leaves Rise fuming.
You spot Yu up ahead, finally making his way over to the rest of you. You lightly elbow Rise, drawing her attention. You nod your head in Yu’s direction, and her entire demeanor changes. “Senpai! I missed you!” She practically skips over to Yu as she throws her arms around him, burying her face into his shoulder as she squeezes him in her notorious tight hugs.
You wiggle your eyebrows when Yu catches your eye, and his cheeks redden.
Oh?
Yu joins the rest of you with Rise clinging to his arm, and you all engage in amicable chatter before you disperse to look for clues on the latest potential Inaba murder victim.
“Oh, Rise, Yu, you two should investigate together.” You mention. “Huh?” Rise perks up at the suggestion, yet her cheeks warm in surprise. Ah, you’ve caught her off guard with your suggestion, but Yu is a desirable man. You gotta help your girl out as best you can, before someone else gets with him.
“Oh? Why is that?” Yu looks genuinely confused, and one of the girls voices their protest.
“Because Rise has something important to discuss with you regarding her career. She doesn’t feel comfortable telling everyone yet, so she wants to do it one on one until she feels more comfortable voicing her concerns with the group. She’s still an idol you know.” You come up with that on the spot, praying the investigation team buys your bullshit reasoning.
Rise’s eyes alight with delight when no one has a retort, leading to Yu’s easy agreement. The two of them walk off, and Rise glances behind her to meet your gaze. You wink, giving her a subtle thumbs up. She mouths an enthusiastic ‘Thank you!’ in your direction, leading to an amused smirk presenting itself on your face.
“I know what you’re up to Y/N.” Kanji announces. You glance at him in surprise, only for him to say “Rise’s just too shy to be open and honest with the rest of us without putting on that idol persona of hers, right? That’s why she’s gotta discuss it with senpai alone first huh?” You nod in agreement at Kanji’s off base understanding, but it helps your case significantly.
The rest of the investigation team ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ as if that totally makes sense. Naoto shakes her head in dismay as she pinches the bridge of her nose. Yosuke emits a sigh akin to disappointment as the rest of the group actually buys that reasoning.
“Anyway-! Let’s investigate guys. We can’t call ourselves the investigation team if we don’t play the part!” You successfully divert their attention as the rest of you set off in a group before you split up, asking around as you search for clues.
You receive a text later that evening with Rise’s heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity you provided her.
You send a silly winky face with a kiss in reply, smiling when she sends you a rose and a ring in turn.
You cherish your friendship with Rise, and you hope she can find the happiness she deserves.
Hopefully with the man of her dreams, aka Yu Narukami.

a couple of persona 4 headcanons
Just a list of my Persona 4/affiliated media headcanons (I really hope this doesn’t get buried lmfao…also before you ask no I don’t normally post persona I kinda got hooked through the Honkai SR fandom. What can I say, Yu’s very relatable about not wanting to upset and needing to protect the cute kid calling you “big bro”)
I have no idea what’s going on with the whole “Teddie lives with Yosuke” thing because I have literally searched up everything (don’t ask about my youtube watch history please) and here’s my take on it: Yosuke basically came home with a Teddie in tow, presented him as a guy with nowhere to go who was willing to work for his keep, stuffed him in his closet because the “spare bedroom” is his dad’s home office or something, and at some point the Hanamuras just accepted they have two sons now because how can you not like sweet, innocent, naive-but helpful Teddie? Also Yosuke played Teddie’s disappearance off as him being at Yu’s or something. I have no idea how that man pulled this off but it worked. (yes I”m a sucker for hanabros)
I still can’t decide which i prefer: Yu x Yosuke or Yu x Rise (I do like the idea that RIse grabbed Yu, flung him over her shoulder, and marched off into the sunset, though like…have you seen the Persona 4 partner dances???)
I’m actually kinda surprised Yu just goes back to wherever he came from for his third year, like just stay in Inaba for your last year of highschool? You already stayed a whole year. And he canonically has parents who are away a lot on business. But to make sense of this, I propose: He goes back only because the school he’s going to gives him a leg up into the uni he wants to go to (which is understandable. Inaba is a tiny rural town in the middle of nowhere, he’ll probably get some better connections in a city school or something). He definitely comes back on every holidays possible, and messages his friends so often that his new friends at his other school are just like “bro….please at least wear the right uniform….”
RIse’s idol group starts flinging around wild theories on what she did during her year-long break. It ranges from everything from hooking up with three different guys (they spied on her while she was doing a video call with the others (FaceTime apparently existed in 2012, which I kinda forgot about. I think the flip phones kinda just threw me off.)
Yukiko and Chie definitely get together. Have you seen those two? They’re definitely roommates, at the last.
At some point someone asks about Teddie’s bear costume, and Yosuke covers up by saying Kanji made some alterations to it. Kanji does not approve, and Yosuke is seen later running through Inaba with an angry Kanji on his heels.
Also that new outfit Teddie wears in the epilogue of Golden? That’s just Yosuke’s old stuff - Teddie still wears the first human clothes he ever got for fancy occasions, but between Yosuke and Chie they manage to talk him into regular stuff.
And they definitely have a running joke where they introduce Teddie as an exchange student from France (with that bright blond hair and Ouran Host Club-esque style choices, it was bound to happen) whenever they meet someone new. Yosuke knows Teddie will play along anyways, but buys him sweet treats as a bribe anyways. They usually drop the act pretty quite, but it’s really funny for the Hanabros. Especially if Teddie is crossdressing, because that man totally kept his Alice outfit.
Kanji, unfortunately for Yosuke, uses Teddie as a model whenever he decides to get creative. Yosuke is considering getting a second closet because Teddie shares most of Yosuke’s old stuff. Like clothes (Yosuke is the only one who has stuff in Teddie’s size, and Teddie’s growing a bit anyways), In the winter, Teddie regularly shows up to places wearing Yosuke’s sweaters and jackets, and Yosuke is just thankful that Kanji makes Teddie stuff like that in Yosuke’s size so both of them can wear it.
TImeskip: Nanako moves to the city with Yu for highschool, so she can attend a more liberal-arts focussed school. Yu doesn’t mind (he’s like, 26 at this point, and probably works some kind of office job (he likes a bit of quiet in his life, after the chaos called his teenage years and having famous idol Rise Kujikawa as a mate) (and also he gets free Nanako time) and Dojima, finally taking more breaks from work, sometimes drops in to say hi and maybe buy dinner.
Yu also gets to shovel talk Nanko’s first boyfriend. Nanko has to spend half an hour reassuring him that Yu is actually in fact a really nice guy….and then turns around to see Yosuke and Rise waiting for their turn to shoveltalk. And while Yu is scary, having your girlfriend’s older brother’s brofriend and Risette staring you down was not a good follow up. Nanako is rightfully mortified, Yu does in fact bake apology cookies, and Yosuke and Risette manage to drag the couple into an impromptu dance session to ease the tension just a little after nearly scaring the poor kid half to death. (The poor kid is someone in the Phantom Theives, because I saw a really cool AU on AO3 and it lives rent-free in my head. And I like the idea of Nanako becoming a Phantom Thief because “it runs in the family, thanks a lot Yu >:l “
Naoto ends up taking Aketchi under her wing. Does she mind? I mean, to her he’s not entirely horrible. Is she pleased with his actions? …that’s debatable
Inaba becomes known for having great weather. Except for the one time Marie catches a bug going around the town, that ends up behind a horrible mid-January snowstorm. .
Those are the ones I have right now. I’m still working my way through everything (HSR is taking over my brain, I love the Astral Express crew dynamic-)
(also I'm really disappointed we didn't get human Teddie dancing with the others. I need that boost of serotine of watching Yosuke and human Teddie try to dance together.)

Persona AU video game ideas
(Update!! part 2 here)
Okay, so I've had this idea for a really long time now. Completely unrealistic and self-indulgent but whatever. The internet was made for screaming into the void, anyhow. Hopefully, someone will think this is cool. What if each Persona user got their own video game? An alternate universe game that lets them be the hero of their own story?
Yu Narukami - Killer is Dead
I had a lot of ideas for Yu. A runner-up idea was Devil May Cry. You know, monster-slaying, grey-haired, sword guy with a Stand voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch? But I went for Killer is Dead because I think Mondo really exudes that bad boy, gangster energy that Yu also does. Which is funny, 'cause Yu is practically a saint but whatever. Not too much to explain for this one. Katana go cut-cut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yosuke Hanamura - Ninja Gaiden Sigma
It's the definitive ninja game. All of the acrobatic moves, monsters, magic abilities, and wall-running makes it a no-brainer for me. There are tons of other ninja games out there, but none fit Yosuke quite like this one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chie Satonaka - Sleeping Dogs
There are quite a few martial arts games nowadays. I considered Sifu, but the fighting in that game was a little too efficient and skilled for Chie. More Donnie Yen than Bruce Lee. The over-the-top combat of Sleeping Dogs I think is a better fit. Plus, this game also involves a some John Woo style gunplay for bonus Hong Kong cinema points.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yukiko Amagi - The Legend of Korra
Hear me out. Platinum's Legend of Korra game features a character who uses physical movement to bend the elements and attack long range. Sort of like Yukiko (especially in the Arena games).
Okay, I realize this one is a bit of a stretch, so if anyone has any better ideas, please let me know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kanji Tatsumi - Yakuza Kiwami 2
Back to the obvious stuff. Duh, right? Kanji and Kiryu have very similar fighting styles. Unskilled and scrappy, lots of grappling, as well as improvised weaponry. Plus, Kanji always had a sort of a reputation as a trouble-making gangster. It fits too well honestly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rise Kujikawa - Hi-Fi Rush
Thank CHRIST this game came out. For the longest time, I had no idea what game would fit Rise. A J-pop version of Brütal Legend? J-pop Metal: Hellsinger? BPM: Bullets Per Minute? Maybe Final Fantasy X-2? Finally, my search is over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If this interests you, I might have a part 2 coming. In the meantime, please somebody give me some ideas for P3mc and Junpei.

Jealous HnL boys
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
note: the bold dialogues are the boys, and you're the italics
Hanaoka Fujio
-gets jealous but does not realise it
-gets really pouty and sulky when your attention is taken away from him
-follows you around like a lost puppy until he gets your attention back
-keeps the 'friendly' facade around the guy until the guy leaves and his smile just immediately drops
"I don't like him at all, and i couldn't care to know his name, so therefore, I would not be giving him a nickname. Hmph!" "Fujio I-"
Tsukasa takajo
-literally glares at anyone who goes near you within 5 feet
-already hates everyone's guts, so just imagine the hatred that he has for the guy who is flirting with you
-though he gets really jealous easily he tends to hide it all and act cool when in the inside he is already screaming for the guy to get lost or punch the guy when he tried to initiate physical contact with you
-acts all salty and needs to be persuaded after the whole incident
"I don't like this guy at all." "tsukasa, he is literally 6 ft away from me . What are you on?"
Todoroki yosuke
-doesnt really get jealous since he is secure in your relationship, and he is too proud to be jealous
-though he still can't help but feel possessive every time a guys would approach with romantic intentions
-doesnt wanna be too close, though still close enough to keep an eye on the guy if he tried anything
-if he can't take the jealousy anymore, he would just take you away without saying anything and distract you so you won't go back to the guy(not like you wanted to anyway)
"I wonder how many punches he can take?" "Yosu, I swear to god-"
Ueda sachio
-gets jealous easily, and everyone knows ot except you
-literally all smiles towards you, but once you look away, the leader of the housen killer corps appears
-makes sure to stay close to you in case the guy tries anything
-just has this terrifying and intimidating aura around him while he's behind you until the guy goes away, and when the guy does leave, it's all sunshine, rainbows, and daisies for sachio
*mumbling*"I'm gonna fucking kill this guy if he doesn't leave anytime soon" "chio? You said something?" "Nothing baby^^"
Odajima yuken
-like tsukasa, gets jealous really easily but hides it under his smartass facade
-since he is showing his smart ass facade, so expect a lot of back-handed compliments towards the guy
-makes you wear his sweater so everyone knows who they're messing with if they ever flirt with you
-is literally draped in you like sloth on a tree 24/7
"You know you're really good looking with this lighting." "But isn't it dark?" "Yu omg-"
Shida kenzo:
-gets jealous easily, but unlike tsukasa and yuken, he is not afraid to tell you that he's jealous
-momma's boy, so he basically knows what you might feel if he doesn't communicate his feelings (SHIDAKEN GREEN FLAG FR)
-you are his no.1 priority, so your comfort and emotions will always come first before his
-no filter at all. If he sees something wrong with the guy, he'll immediately point it out
"I'm sorry, but your breath really stinks." "kenzo, stop omfg-"
Shoji sameoka
-another momma's boy(it's my hc idfc) that is not afraid to tell you how he feels
-he will be gorilla glued to your side the whole time, and this is rare since shoji is not one for pda
-literally just side eyeing the guy the whole while occasionally letting out an annoying scoff
-his hands are just on your waist the whole time with the occasional rubs and squeezes to assure you that he is still there and can take you away any time you want
-is not afraid to tell the guy to fuck off if he had enough tolerating his shit
"Fuck off, go find someone else to bother with your bullshit" "shoji atleast let him finish-"
Misaki Mario(roah)
-now I don't why anyone would even try and flirt with you if they already saw roah with you but ig let's just say some dumbass really tried for the sake of the hc
-now roah would get jealous but not to the point that he'll get bothered by the feeling since he trusts you and knows you won't flirt back
-if he sees the guy being more and more eager to flirt he just uses his big figure to tower over the guys and intimidate him
-now if that doesn't work, which is rare, he won't hesitate to pull into his (ginormous)chest, keeping ou there until the guy gets a hint
"Honey, cmon, the kids are waiting." "roah, ssshhhh oml"
Mashii takehiko(mercy)
-mashi does gets jealous but won't tell instead he shows you
-he would also pull into his chest while talking 'friendly' threats to the guy
-he would puff smoke into the guy's face if the guy won't shut the fuck up
-he would puff smoke into your mouth while making out with you infront of the guy
"Cmon, let's make out in front of him." "And here I thought you didn't like pda, takehiko"
