okay, so in the Gotham tv show (this has spoilers for all 5 seasons, so read on if you're okay with that) the way that they approached writing the joker was actually really up in the air in the beginning. this is because they didn't have the rights to use the name "joker," and so fox (the company that made the show) planned on making a bunch of smaller characters in the show as a kind of easter egg as people who could be the joker or who resemble him in some way.
this changed when cameron monaghan (the actor for both jerome and jeremiah) guest starred in s1e16 "the blind fortune teller." in it, the character of jerome is introduced as a 17/18 year old boy who travels with the circus with his mother, who is a snake dancer. he is meant to be one of the aforementioned joker-like characters in the show and wasn't actually supposed to be included again after that episode, if i am not mistaken.
however, the viewers LOVED his performance and jerome came back in season two as a member of the maniax, a group of arkham inmates who were broken out of the asylum. i won't go too into detail about the actual plot, but in seasons two, three, and four, jerome shows up in at least a few different episodes with very memorable storylines each time.
it isn't until season four of the show that jeremiah is even revealed at all! jeremiah and jerome are identical twin brothers, however, jeremiah has been in hiding for years under the fake name "xander wilde" in an attempt to escape jerome, who wants to get revenge on him for lying to their mother about what he (jerome) did when they were children. basically, jeremiah lied to their mother (lila, who jerome is revealed to have killed in 1x16) that jerome tried to kill him, causing jeremiah to be sent away and be adopted by rich people and get to go to a well-funded private school where he could live out his best life as a child prodigy (which was jeremiah's end goal to this), whereas jerome was left behind in the circus that they lived at (haly's circus, the same one that dick grayson later was raised in before being adopted by bruce). during this time, jerome was horrifically abused by his mother, his uncle, and his mother's many romantic partners. this eventually caused him to crack, which creates the character we see in the show.
here's an easy way to remember the difference in their personalities:
in the standard american deck of cards, there are two jokers: one that is black and white and one that is in color. in this analogy, jeremiah is the black and white joker and jerome is the one in color.
this is jerome:
he's got a *very* boisterous personality. he's outgoing and charismatic and, of course, severely messed up in the head. he *enjoys* the pain he causes people and does it with little to no reservations. he thinks things through less thoroughly than jeremiah but jerome always has a plan and is actually quite smart. i couldn't do him the disservice of calling him the dumb twin, despite some points about jeremiah that i'll get back to later.
anyway, jerome has a grand plan for all of gotham: he believes that, fundamentally, everyone in the world is like him and is also at least a bit crazy inside. he wants everyone to tap into their inner selves and let themselves run free / go crazy. he successfully ensnares huge hoards of gothamites with his persuasive way of speaking and interesting flare to his words. he amasses a large cult following, all of whom are very similar to him in the sense that they all demonstrate similar signs of instability.

jerome kind of invented the iconic "HAHAHA" signature joker laugh in the gotham universe, even though he isn't the one who goes on to become "mr. j" (gotham's version of the joker) in the end (that's jeremiah, though i have a lot to say about that).
jerome's always smiling, a genuinely creepy smile that throws people off at first but can be really scary once you know what you're looking at. he single handedly turns gotham into a madhouse on multiple occasions and is the one who basically spread the "crazy" to the general population (for short: genpop).
he's a classic cult leader in the sense that he can mesmerize a whole room with his magnetic presence but also will ruthlessly cut down any of his followers if they so much as upset him (or even if they're just being annoying or could have a greater purpose, like when he stabbed a follower in the gut to take their blood to draw a frowney-face on bruce).
that reminds me, another important thing to know about jerome is that he has an iconic stapled-on face! this is because he died once (in season two, though he came back to life for season three onwards) and one of his followers tried to revive him using some insider medical knowledge from doctor hugo strange (who is just... a whole thing. ew.). he thinks that he failed at doing this and steals jerome's face so that he can wear it on television in an attempt to control jerome's followers (spoiler: this doesn't work).
however, it turns out that jerome *was* revived from this, and he's pretty upset that some dude stole his face! so he uses a staple gun to re-attach it after he gets it back (and kills the guy who did it). his face is later punched off by jim gordon but reattached more properly during his time at arkham afterward (the carnival scene happened in season 3 and jerome came back with a kind-of healed face in season 4).

jerome is the colorful joker because he's very much expressive. he lets out every single emotion he feels---unless he's trying to deceive someone, at which point he is a phenomenal liar. (in season 1 when we are first introduced to him, he almost successfully gets away with the murder of his own mother.)
jerome is funny and laughs a lot and is *loud.* he's also absolutely insane and incredibly cruel, as well as impulsive, but he's able to curb his instincts if he feels like he can pull off a big plan.
jerome is a showman by nature. he's a product of the circus and it *shows.* everything he does is like an act, something that is acknowledged by many people in the show.
he's a funky lil dude. totally crazy, but kind of adorable at times.
he's also SEVERELY traumatized from his horrible past and has huge trust issues.
so, yeah. jerome is colors! remember that.
unfortunately, pookie died in season 4 and doesn't seem to have been revived this time </3
now, onto his twin brother jeremiah!
jeremiah is, at least at first, presented to be the complete opposite of jerome. he's calm, collected, and seemingly sane---at least at first. bruce trusts him at first and he even befriends him for a period of time before jeremiah betrays him.
jeremiah is a genius engineer, and, when looking into his past, we can assume that he was a child prodigy. he worked with thomas wayne before he died and designed the wayne plaza building under the aforementioned alias "xander wilde." he also locked himself in an underground maze for ~6 years (i believe?) and never went outside, instead sending his proxy (ecco) out to act in his place during business transactions.
as seen here, jeremiah seems to be the complete opposite of showboat jerome:
when we first meet jeremiah, we are told that he is totally sane, but we can later see that this is not the complete truth.
i'll use jeremiah's project as a metaphor for this. jeremiah was building a set of generators which could make energy harvesting and usage much less expensive and much more bio-friendly (if i remember correctly). bruce promised to fund his project and jeremiah accepts his offer quickly.
after jerome dies in season 4 after kidnapping bruce and jeremiah, he left behind a concoction of chemicals that seemingly make jeremiah go insane. this is a play on joker toxin / joker venom from the greater dc universe.
however, after jeremiah reveals his new self
he says that the spray did not actually change who he actually is, but just gave him an altered appearance. there are a lot of fan theories about this, but the general consensus is that the spray likely lowered his inhibitions, which gave him the kick needed to reveal his true self.
even his complexion resembles the joker he corresponds with: black and white. he is the black and white joker because he isn't as expressive, is way more calculated, and is more cruel and less happy. even his skin is paper white.

that looks a lot more like the joker we know and love today, right? bleach-pale skin, red painted lips, green hair. he's instantly recognizable as the stereotypical joker now.
remember when i mentioned the generators? let's go back to them. the entire time that the generators have been around, they've also been perfectly functional as powerful bombs. their ability to be used as bombs does not undermine the fact that they can also be used as generators, and both of these things were true at the same time *for the entire time they have existed.*
it is in this way that jeremiah's paradoxical nature has always existed. jeremiah is crafty, cunning, and absolutely vicious. he has no care or concern for human life in general and will sacrifice most people in his life if it means that he will get what he wants in the end.
this is shown both before and after the joker toxin in how he lied about jerome when they were children (which caused jerome to be heavily abused) and in how jeremiah willingly killed one of his most devoted and beloved followers, who was being ransomed, just because someone put him on hold and it was personally easier for him to just kill him than sit on hold on the phone for a while. (he also has a vicious streak, though, because he immediately moved the demolition of the bombs up to immediately once he was out of the blast zone because those people inconvenienced him.)
something that's important to realize about jeremiah is that he has an issue with being called crazy. jerome does, too, but he eventually comes to accept the term, almost like he's reclaiming it, but jeremiah is *violently* against it. that's one of the things that set him off in the previously mentioned interaction.
both jeremiah and jerome are obsessed with bruce, though in different ways. jeremiah sees bruce first as his best friend and later as the "brother [he] could never have, that jerome could never be." jerome just sees bruce as a particularly entertaining and interesting kid who he enjoyed tormenting who he would eventually kill.
anyway, despite jeremiah being crazy (or, depending on who you ask, just less inhibited) he is still crazy smart and calculating. he thinks through everything before he does it and his master plans seem like they go on forever with 10000 parts to them and backups and contingencies galore.
the only time that jeremiah ever really seems to break out of this is when he's fighting with bruce. while he still does have a greater point to make or something he's trying to accomplish, he thinks through things less with him and shows his impulsive and rash side a bit more, which is interesting because jerome showed his thoughtful and contemplative side when faced with the obstacle that is bruce thomas wayne.
i love parallels and contrasts, especially in these two characters! i just love writing about twins, they're always so interesting.
some important things about their relationship to one another:
even though jerome kidnapped jeremiah and seemingly strapped a bomb to his neck (after breaking into his house and telling him that he would kill him), jerome doesn't seem to actually want jeremiah to die. instead, as we later find out, he wants jeremiah to unleash his true self and carry on his legacy of chaos and cruelty in gotham for him after his death. this is why he left behind the laughing gas for him.
(the fact that jerome thought to do all of that shows that he really was a smart character and that he truly did understand the world around him well. he knew exactly what would happen in the event of his death, i.e. bruce offering to fund jeremiah's work and jeremiah accepting, as is shown when jerome has the joker venom in a present box which claims to be sent from wayne enterprises.)
jeremiah *hates* to be compared to jerome in any way, as he thinks of himself as "the face of true sanity." he actually has an entire notebook full of jerome's ideas, which he says he will outdo and perfect, thus defeating his brother in the end, which i don't know if i agree with, but whatever.
i think that it's because of the reputation that jerome got at the circus. jeremiah wanted people to think of him as better than jerome and as the perfect child, which he succeeded at. to him, jerome is synonymous with crazy, which i've already mentioned that he hates to be called.
okay, just one more part to talk about. the infamous, much anticipated Mr. J!!!
in the series finale, it is revealed that jeremiah, after falling into a vat of acid, is horribly disfigured and pretends to be in a vegetative state for the whole ten years that bruce is on his quest to improve himself before becoming batman. he does this as a way of waiting for bruce to come back to gotham so he can continue to be obsessed with him.
however, though this is jeremiah, it seems that he has actually gone through immense mental trauma sometime during this time (perhaps during his fall into a vat of chemicals), which has caused him to sort of lose his sense of self. he once says that there was "another me" [another him] once, which is, of course, referring to jerome. this implies that jeremiah sees jerome as an extension of himself, almost, and almost makes it seem as if mr. j is a whole different entity of his own.

IDOLiSH7 Hunger Games Simulator
I used to play this thing all the time with other characters and fandoms. Now it's time for them to go through it!
Im using this website, you can press "Load Season" and paste the code XKs4qINi to load the main cast, then press "Edit Cast", scroll to the bottom, press "Submit" and you can proceed afterwards!! (the edit cast part is for it to refresh the whole thing, otherwise you will be playing my simulation ^__^"")
Now for the main attraction! I did one run of it and oh. . Experience under the cut! (VERY LONG POST)
Beginning!
Most people run away from the cornucopia, with the exception of them:
WHERE DO I BEGIN. Mitsuki's furious rage (contained in such a short body) made Tamaki give up. At least Sougo scored a mace for them (violently). Ryou loses also.
Minami fights Anesagi for a bag too, and Riku and Touma fight as well. Minami and Touma get their bags.
Weapons obtained: Nagi - sword, Torao - pair of sais, Okarin - handful of throwing knives (oh!), Momo - bow and arrows
Manager uses violence! Basket of bread obtained.
DAY 1
Not even the break of dawn, Momo already is set out for ZOOL. His archery skills are... admirable. Sorry Touma, your fight for the bag didn't save you
On this episode of Torao Needs A Therapist - WHAT. And on another note - Riku would probably be the worst person to go to with that request, I'm glad he went to him
Mitsuki also has a very... depressing thing going on, in spite of fighting so vigorously with Tamaki over a bag. And Yuki would never hurt his kouhai (with an, cough, exception).
Some of the other contestants sadly weren't lucky enough.
Nagi and Banri are killed gruesomely (an explosion and whatever torture Ryou did to Nagi). It's unclear if Gaku had an intention for murder, but we'll see later.. as for Ryou, he should find a better way to vent his anger after failing his fight for supplies.

Starting the night off with something light - they're all decently equipped, and Momo is dealing with some stuff after killing Touma, but as always, not showing it. Mitsuki probably needed this mood lift too, since he didn't do too well before.
Tenn sees their fire but decides to stay hidden, trying to calculate his next move.
And continuing the trend of going to the worst people possible to be making this request to - we now know that what Gaku did was most likely an accident, and Banri just got caught up in it. Sorry, Gaku, you're gonna have to live with it.
In the distance, Takanashi Papa is trying to gather resources...
OLD MAN, DON'T CLIMB TREES, YOUR LIMBS MAY NOT BE SUITED FOR IT ANYMORE. Otoharu Takanashi joins Banri in heaven.
Other contestants find themselves alone...
Utsugi questions his sanity. Tsumugi questions her sanity too.
Anesagi cries herself to sleep.
Yaotome Papa attempts to start a fire, but is unsuccessful.
Ryou goes to sleep. (as one should after murdering a guy, you sick sick man)
But wait.. AN AMBUSH?!
Iori, Tamaki and Minami are no longer alive, because their attempt at ambushing was gravely unsuccessful. For all the planning Iori and Minami could do, there is no stopping Tamaki from acting rash..
And as a cherry on top, Torao finds new powers within himself after Riku's kind words this day and decides to-
Fatally injure Yamato! What an end to this night.

DAY 2
As the Sun's rays creep up on the grounds, people wake up and start their day with-

As the remaining center of ZOOL, Haruka is doing his best to cover for the teammate in the "mercy" department. Thank you for sparing Sougo.
And Tenn is doing his usual thing.
In other, minor news:
Momo discovers a river.
Okarin diverts Tsumugi's attention and runs away. (Tsumugi CAN be scary, believe me)
Utsugi thinks about home.
Ryou fishes. Yuki constructs a shack. (treating it like a farming sim, I see)
Yaotome Papa travels to higher ground. (as he always does in his life)

Districts 2 and 9 are wiped out! Torao has the highest kill count (3) (I don't count Riku, Ryuu and Yuki in that because they were a team in killing the ambushers, and there's no way of telling who contributed the most)
NIGHT 2
Okarin and Sougo really love their campfire stories. And now that Tenn has calculated his moves from the past night, he can safely be in their company, now with his brother too.
Utsugi receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor.
Momo thinks about home. Yuki looks at the night sky. (sighss)
Haruka passes out from exhaustion.
Yaotome Papa and Torao both see the campfire, but stay hidden for the night.
A peaceful night indeed.. Wait!
An unlikely (by threat or withholding resources) alliance of Anesagi and Ryou is going after Tsumugi and Gaku! The Manager-Idol duo survive through their sheer power (Tsumugi) and the urge to protect (Gaku).

DAY 3
Usual day, as usual it can be.
Haruka fishes.
Sougo tries to sleep through the entire day. (uncharacteristically so, perhaps from exerting himself too much)
Tsumugi runs away from Momo. (knowing his archery skills, it could have been a worse outcome. glad Momo's not out for blood)
Yuki attacks Gaku, but he manages to escape. (Gaku, what did you say to him?)
Yaotome Papa steals from Tenn while he isn't looking. (TRIGGER's property is his property too, right?)
But there's more!
Riku plays with some dangerous toys and finishes Torao's kill streak by exploding him, with Utsugi getting caught in the explosion too (That's the second manager who barely did anything and exploded. Stop exploding your local managers)
And maybe give your managers medicine next time too? Okarin received clean water earlier, but it clearly wasn't enough to stop the deathly infection.
Deaths - Torao, Utsugi, Okarin
District 8 and 11 got wiped out! 2 members of i7, 2 members of TRG, the entirety of Re:V and 1 member of ZOOL are alive. Tsumugi and Yaotome Papa are still alive too.
NIGHT 3
Surprisingly devoid of spilled blood, the night is spent peacefully
Haruka thinks about home.
Momo and Tenn run into each other and decide to truce for the night. (best interest in mind, and looking after a kouhai too! great!)
Yuki, Yaotome Papa, Riku, and Gaku sleep in shifts. (unexpected to see Gaku team up with his old man, but things happen! Riku and Yuki decide to continue their alliance from before)
Sougo receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor. (so that no people can die from infection injuries ever again.)
Tsumugi questions her sanity. (i would too)
DAY 4
The cornucopia is replenished with food, supplies, weapons, and memoirs from the tributes' families.
Yuki and Gaku get into a fight over raw meat, but Yuki gives up and runs away. (he needs it for his makeshift soba, Yuki!)
Haruka decides not to go to The Feast. And as we see, it was one of the better decisions.
Yaotome Papa decides to end all sorts of rumors and blow up Riku. Unfortunately, Tenn's "twin sixth sense" couldn't make him get there in time to lead Riku away, but at least they're together now. Two kills on Yaotome Papa (and, like son like father, both he and Gaku are responsible for most explosion deaths. brilliant. please don't continue!) (also fun that Riku was playing with explosives earlier and now died. because of them)
The Feast also brings us a fight!
Sougo has had a mace since the beginning, and now he decided to use it well! And well, he used it. Momo's bow/arrows and Tsumugi's raw strength just couldn't compare.

DAY 4 (CONT.)
Yuki camouflauges himself in the bushes. (already looks the part)
Yaotome Papa constructs a shack. (what else to do after setting off an explosive)
Sougo tends to Haruka's wounds. (very cute moment after a double-murder, but now these medicals supplies are getting some use!)
Gaku practices his archery. (did you not hear what they did to another archer moments ago?)
NIGHT 4
Yaotome Papa and Yuki tell stories about themselves to each other.
Gaku receives a hatchet from an unknown sponsor. (GREAT.)
Sougo tends to his wounds. (efficient and great! probably one of the better doing contestants)

DAY 5
Yaotome Papa starts the day off by making a wooden spear. Let's see how others are do-
BETRAYAL! After all the injuries have been healed, and Haruka's mind cleared off from screaming, he went straight for it! What a twist!!!!!! WHAT A MOVE!!!
And Sougo might not be the only one with the bad luck today.
Gaku gets betrayed by the ice and his own body, and drowns in the lake. Sadly the received hatchet will never be used.
Let's see how Yuki's doing.

And now it all comes down to these three.

Haruka and Yaotome Papa talk about the tributes still alive. (not a lot of them, and you make 67% of the population now. this is just Yuki gossip)

We don’t talk a lot - We haven’t talked in probably about a year or so now, since I left the fandom space we met in. I’ve changed usernames since then - I went by Wheat on discord. Sorry I’ve been so distant. I never knew how to talk to you since it’s been a while.
Even still, I want to tell you that you were important to me, and still are. I wish we could talk more. I want to talk about your new interests. What are you into these days? I’ve been getting into some older games these days, but I’ve been missing pokemon a bit. I want to get back into it. Do you still draw Sky? I never asked you about them with as much detail as I wanted to. I was always worried about being too intrusive, but I regret that now. Your OCs are really imaginative. I know you’re into tensura now, right? Season 3 is coming out soon. I’m excited for that.
I want to get to know you again. I don’t know what happened with whatever you left behind, and I don’t know if this is a weird message to send, but you’re important to me and I want to let you know that you are. I wouldn’t be who I am if you weren’t there in the beginning. Thank you for being you.
i dont know how to talk either. every sentence i say either feels fake or self centered, selfish. and dont worry about being distant; it happens, especially when interests change. i dont blame you.

i don't really draw anything right now. i dont know if i can go back. it was my only hobby, yet my therapist said that it wasnt enough, even when i was at my lowest. well, at the time. ive set a new low score at this point. i dont want to draw. i don't know what id draw. i dont think i can. my computer is kinda a no mans land at this point. i don't really touch it anymore. im glad you liked sky though. i never understood why she garnered so much attention. i could never write a good enough character for her. she was a mary sue in that way, with no real character flaws, let alone the... everything else. either way, like i said, im glad you liked her regardless. it means a lot. the attention i got because of her made me really happy.
like i said, im not really into anything right now, but i guess tensura would be regarded as an "interest." im... looking forward to season 3. i read one of the light novels thats going to be adapted a month or two back though, so i guess its gonna be a moment before i get to "new" content.
i dont know if theres anyone to get to know anymore. i was already in a depressive episode before this disaster, now i dont know if theres any going back, if theres any way to recover. it isnt a weird message to send, and its appreciated that you care for me but. im not sure if i can trust anyone again. im not sure if i can even trust myself. even in the aftermath, the people i thought i could trust either no longer talk to me or still interact with those who hurt me. i guess its selfish to ask them to cut off those friends too. but ive always been selfish. self centered. egotistical.
regardless, im glad i had some positive impact despite my mess of a personality. thank you for your words

in the s4 openings, mei takes a way more prominent role than she did in the s1-s3 openings, fighting alongside mk. almost like she's gonna have a bigger role in this whole arc or something. mei contained the uncontainable flame and was able to use and withstand it without destroying the world. and now the jade emperor's power doesn't have a vessel, and nezha's seal won't hold forever. are u picking up what im putting down (<- high on copium)

Mei and the Samadhi Fire
aka, something i think about a lot & am hoping to see her wield once more T^T
so, I honestly will be super disappointed if the reason why we don't see the Samadhi Fire anymore is because her dragon abilities "canceled out" the fire (which would diminish the Grand Power™️ of the fire since it's supposed to be an end all be all power that can and will extinguish reality).
HOWEVER! while reading the lmk wiki (something i tend to do if i want to make sure i'm not just pulling stuff out of my ass for nothing) i found this:
The Rings of Samadhi are three special rings that were created by Tang Sanzang to seal away the Samadhi Fire. After the Samadhi Fire was reforged, the rings often acted as Mei's weapon of choice, being one of the ways she can utilize the Samadhi Fire
and
Pyrokinesis - After Season 3, Mei was able to create common green flames, which succeeded her powers to control the Samadhi Fire, which she, according to Master Subodhi, could no longer wield
and
Samadhi Fire - At first, Mei had difficulty controlling the fire because of her fear of hurting someone with it. In "Embrace Your Destiny", Mei eventually learned how to surpass her doubts about controlling the Samadhi Fire by being trained by Red Son, and used it to destroy Lady Bone Demon. Because of her dragon heritage, Mei can't be harmed by the fire, but still has to control it through controlling her emotions

i am so glad you asked, deary >:)
we were already made aware that Mei's miraculous ability to avoid earning irreplaceable burn scars from the reality breaking fire is no thanks to her dragon heritage despite being mortal. this is most likely why Ao Lie was able to withstand the flames that first time thanks to his scales, BUT dragon scales can only do so much. the fire will still fight against it's vessel (host? body?) unless they are able to commune with it and "embrace" the fires.
as Red Son said, Mei is "strong enough to contain" the fire, but with training and meditation, she could be able to wield it. it's similar but also different to when Mei first got her dragon sword. even without its special abilities, anybody could pick up the sword and claim it as their own, BUT only a chosen few are deemed "worthy" of fully wielding the sword in it purposes (protecting one's family and home).
so, yeah, thank you dragon ancestry for preventing mei from burning herself and the wold into a crisp. the rest of what Mei does, that's all her. and i want to focus on something else the wiki says: "the rings often acted as Mei's weapon of choice, being one of the ways she can utilize the Samadhi Fire."

right, so, in helping Mei wield the fire (because i'm assuming just raw-dogging it would be suicidal for any beginner trying to use the Samadhi Fire), she converts their original purpose of containing (since they are no longer the ones that need to hold on to it) and reverse engineers them to help her current the fires to her will???
at least that's what it looks like to me. also, lmk we should absolutely bring this back. Mei with the 3 rings hovering over her whenever she summons the flames. can you hear me lmk, are you listening, can you hear me breathing down your necks as i plead-
but then, after s3....it's like the fire left her??? or is more dormant than before. HOWEVER (i love this word btw) as @gumy-shark said, Mei shows up in the lmk intro more often. so, let's do a comparison, yeah? of s3 and s4's intro (just to show how Mei is being inserted into a more prominent role in the intro itself starting now lol)
ok, ignoring the beautiful paused piece of MK's smushed face, these 2 pictures occur at the same place in their intros. MK flying into the TEA car, and MK and Mei flying into an ancient Chinese towers while in the scroll. and in the next two,
their placement ALSO happens at the same time (also the lighting is very similar....huh, i wonder why?). what do we notice? no Mei on the left side of the first pair, and no MK on the left side of the second pair. just MK, our lovely main character (also, has anyone else gotten a kick out of MK being a letter away from MC? no? just me....that's fair) and just Mei, our beloved dragon girl. because while Mei's story was also important in s3, the main plot focused on MK trying to regain his powers and defeat LBD. HOWEVER, in s4, we have both Mei and MK in the scroll trying to save their friends, and when they split up, BOTH characters meet someone important to their past (Subodhi being swk's mentor so like MK's mentor grandpa??? and Mei meeting her literal ancestor, Ao Lie) and BOTH come to learn something new about themselves.
HOWEVER >:) while Mei's encounter leaves her more self-assured and solid about her place and identity, MK's encounter leave shim with more questions, some denial, trauma, and the works (hooray!)
anyway, what can this tell us about the upcoming season? well, firstly, i believe Gumy is right! this is sort of like lmk's "subtle" way of showing that Mei's role will become more important to the narrative. they're telling us, "hey, don't forget about her. don't ignore her storyline just yet." and yeah, we should not :)
we still don't know the whole story on why Mei doesn't wield the Samadhi Fire in s4 (is she scared of it? did she decide it was better to only train and meditate with it? is she even aware that she can still use it? or did she give the 3 rings (now her rings bc she reconfigured them) to Nezha for safe keeping and hope for the best? WE DON'T KNOW!) and that is a pretty significant event to just ignore.
like, yeah, sure, it's brought up by Master Subodhi but all he says is, "as someone who once wielded the Samadhi Fire," WHICH GIVES ME NOTHING! he also mentions that Mei has the potential to be even powerful if she just took a minute to think before letting her impulses rule her, but i'm not mad over that. but, that does give the hope that Mei in the following season will have an arc where she attempts to slow herself down and think about the consequences (and she's done it before!! her actually thinking about how "Wukong knew the risks")
so yeah, i am in agreement. and my theory is, at the end of s5 is when she "reawakens"/summons the Fire once again, now that she is more confident in her powers and strengths and takes the time to consider her options on how to defeat something big (i wonder who 👀)

spent a whole two days avoiding spoilers just for my dad to cancel our ted lasso watch party. i miss him dearly, but i can't keep ted lasso away too long
episode 8 was... weird
a good weird i think
i dont know
more human than heartwarming
but heartwarming all the same
felt like a beard after hours type film.
anyway here were my highs and my not-quite-low-but-not-great-either middles.

- nate and jade. god i love them. so beautiful and kind. about time nate got the loving he deserves.

its very sweet that disco and the other quirky man didnt make fun of the man-meeting. sad that nate misses so much of what he used to have

- colin really overcompensating his supposed straightness :(
- isaac and colin scene. quick. catches you off guard. disorienting for viewers and characters. real sad

- everyone was so soft-spoken this episode. and insightful. a really different style of writing

- roy is still so insecure, asking who the video was for. we saw the beginnings of that in season 1, what with him praising keeley on breaking up with jamie when his opinion was unnecessary. their breakup was mostly based on him not feeling good enough for keeley. idk. its just sad
- rebecca's scenes being too quick, all used to support characters in need. sure, we got a lot of vulnerability in episode 6, but the 180 from that to barely anything... not feeling it
- ted wanting to hire a private investigator? i know he's hung up on michelle and dr jacob but, man, what an uncharacteristic action

- interesting filming techniques. not as snappy and impersonal.
* i think my main grievance is the divergence from routine ted lasso style film. happy go lucky, dramatized character voices, + more to low voices, wisdom, close-ups. its a little too human for me. a little too raw. i tend to dislike episodes similar to this one, like no weddings and a funeral, though that was more tolerable (? hell of a word, it was more than tolerable but whatever)
i think right now i need an escape rather than reflection. so its really a me-thing rather than a poor-writing thing. or maybe its both.

incoming sappy post for baby’s birthday
my best friend had been watching stranger things since the beginning, and once she found out i had never even finished season 1 (don’t yell at me 😅), she had a FIT. she practically forced me to watch it so that we would have something in common to talk about and jesus h christ am i glad she did.
i loved it. i finally understood why there was such a huge fandom surrounding this show. i binged it all as fast as i could. and then when i started season 4, i saw him. i was immediately transfixed by his character, his performance, and just the way he carried himself. i fell down a rabbit hole, trying to figure everything out about this man that i could which in turn, made me watch practically everything he’s ever acted in.
i just thought he was amazing. the way he’s able to just perfectly nail every single character he ever plays, and make you feel exactly what you’re supposed to feel while watching him was magic. i truly believe he is one of the greatest actors of his generation.
so i started liking a lot of photos and videos of him on instagram, and following some fan pages on there and i made a friend through him! it was crazy that after watching him in one season of a show would turn into this crazy hyper fixation over everything he could ever do 😂
and one day i got the random idea to log back into tumblr after years of abandoning it, wondering if people still write fan fiction and if they wrote about him. plot twist, they do, and im so so so glad they do. i came across @ceriseheaven and let me just say, i had NEVER read anything that transported me the way her writings did.
i read everything. i was mesmerized. i kept reading any and everything i could find about joe or eddie and that was when i found @choke-me-joey . i saw the way she would write about any and everything that could possibly come to mind when it came to joe and eddie, and somehow finding her turned into a real friendship. a friendship that i honestly will cherish for the rest of my life.
these two beautiful creatures really inspired me to start writing again after idk 8 years?? and holy shit has it been a whirlwind. i was so nervous to start again, thinking that i was going to be absolute shit. but you guys all made me feel so welcome in the writing community, and you’ve really supported me in this journey and i can’t thank you enough.
even when i was deep in my 1D phase, i never felt a sense of community like i have here. and i never developed friendships the way i have with you guys. i genuinely can barely remember what my life was like before this but i can imagine it was pretty miserable since you guys weren’t in it 😘
so happy birthday joe. thank you for everything. 🤍

Im truly so speechless I don't even know where to begin. Number Four Was Always You was the most thoughtful and well-organized and clearly so well-loved (as the writer for their piece) fic. I haven't been so blown away by a fic in a very long time. Your character descriptions were so quintessentially accurate and truthful to the characters and their actors' portrayal of them! So many times while reading, I found myself smiling or nodding along and thinking, "yep, that definitely would've happened." I hope you know how well you wrote their voices and captured the spirit of the show, as well as it's storytelling. Please believe my complete sincerity when I say that THIS is my canon season four. Period. If you ever chose to dive back into this world, I'll be there every step of the way. (Honestly, I could read how the rest of their lives played out from your perspective!!) Bravo, my friend! And THANK YOU for putting this out in the world for us.
Oh wait!!!! I HAVE TO FANGIRL OVER CHAPTER TEN. The whole story was amazing and had me literally smiling to myself constantly, and chapter 10 was the perrrrrfect ending omg. But my absolute favorite scene was Ted's confession!!!!! I giggled out loud and just smiled for a solid 15 seconds before I could keep reading. You clever thing, you!!! You'd set us up so well with Ted's multiple plans for himself throughout the fic and following through storytelling-wise with each one. So when I tell you how UNPREPARED I was for his sudden confession, but how PERFECT AND WILDLY ROMANTIC IT WAS omggggg I'm still giddy about it the next day. Gahhhhh just perfect. You've got a new fan for life! I'll ready anything you write for this lovely ted lasso fandom of ours!
IM LITERALLY SOBBING THANK YOU SO MUCH season 4 was about ted and trent falling in love we all know it <3 i'm truly so flattered tha tmy characterisation and character arcs were so satisfying to read, i can't say thank you enough it was so fun to write and the fact that it resonated so much;;;; pls, y'all are too nice to me. i really loved writing that fic, i'm glad that the epilogue was good too omggg, they're SO romantic in their own little weird way!!! the romance just WORKS for them bc they're with each other, it's less about the setting and the setup and more about how obsessed they are <3 i hope you also enjoy the rambling headcanon post i wrote about the propsal scene that i just posted (that's how all my plot documents look before i make them make sense by writing the fic hahaha) and i have a few other ted lasso fics in the works!! they're coming!!!!

Billy Hargrove Season 4 Spoilers
Just needed to get this out cause i have a lot of feelings right now
I think all us Billy stans were somewhat expecting this outcome tbh. Just due to the blatant disregard the duffers had for Billy’s character to begin with. They always sounded like they openly hated him so I’m not at all surprised that they got lazy with their writing and his characterisation.
Honestly im just incredibly sad for Billy, that his abuse from his father was swept under the rug and never properly acknowledged. That the duffers wrote that Billy’s father, his abuser, was grieving him and didnt want to be in Hawkins without him? Even tho every single scene we saw with the two of them together, it was tense and violent? Billy was literally always in tears after every altercation with his father. I find it to be bullshit that that was how the duffle bags chose to wrap up Billy’s trauma. They showed us his childhood, they showed us the thing he feared most in his life was his father. They showed us his mother being broken down to the point that she had to leave not only her husband, but her child so that she could survive. As someone who has been the child in this very situation, I can say it meant so much to me to see it being told in main stream media. It made me feel seen, heard and honestly its one of the reasons why I was drawn to Billy in the first place. That his character was complex and nuanced, that he felt real to me. Why, while I have never condoned his treatment and behaviour towards the party or the people around him, I can understand him.
He was an antagonist, but he was also a victim. And it doesn’t take much empathy to understand that everyone has their own demons that they’re dealing with.
If you’re an anti, fine, I honestly don’t care. I understand you don’t like Billy, hell, that you despise him. That’s fine. I’m not asking for you to like him, I’m not telling you to change your mind or your feelings where he’s concerned. He’s done some deplorable shit and I’m not making excuses for him.
I’m just saying that I’m sad. So very fucking sad that a character like him, with so much potential to change and grow into something new will never be- where he could learn how to be a better person and be given the tools to control his anger and his feelings. So that he could fix the good relationships he had left in his life and apologise for the shit he had done- I’m sad this opportunity to show that a person can be capable of change has been taken away. That we’ll never get to see Billy dealing with the consequences of his actions and growing from it.
I wasn’t expecting anything from this new season, and now that we’ve seen how the duffles have treated him, I’m glad he didn’t get as much screen time as we wanted. It would have hurt more to see his character misused and written more poorly than what it had already been.
I’m sad, but thankfully fanfiction exists. And you know what? The wonderful fanfic writers and authors we have on AO3 and other websites are much better writers than what canon content has ever given us. Not just with Harringrove, but with all the ships and world building in the ST fandom. And that is something I am extremely thankful and comforted by.
But yeah, Anti’s, I get you don’t like Billy, but please don’t interact with us stans. Don’t come onto our posts, into our tags and into our areas and shit on him. We’re just minding our own business and dealing with our disappointment.
We don’t care if you don’t like him, so why do you care so much that we do?

okay i need to ramble about evil morty some more because he’s literally suchhh a good character i love how season 5 ended and i hope we never see him again.
in the beginning his entire plan was kind of vague, and i partly think this might be because he didnt have a plan. the writers literally hadn’t conceived of his end goal, he just ... you know.. had it out for ricks. i hope this isn’t some false memory or delusion, but i swear i’ve read something about the writers not having planned evil morty to be anything more than a one off character, and to be fair to them, that’s usually how it goes for r&m. a character or location is introduced, and it isn’t usually reoccurring.
evil morty made the return because of the fandom. and even then, he isn’t exactly reoccurring. he appears in 3 episodes, and every single time he seems to leave a bigger impact. he’s just. so well made that basically any backstory/goal would have worked at the end of season 5. of course this is partly due to everything having been kept so vague up until the last episode, but still! i think the route the writers went was perfect, because not only does it finish his arc very nicely for the fans, it also gives the writers the perfect “out” from this whole accidental storyline they created, because, again, i doubt that evil morty was ever planned to be much. i think s1e10′s ending was the intended end, with him literally disappearing into a crowd of identical mortys, but i think it goes without saying that i’m glad it wasn’t.
i’m also really glad that he wasn’t given a dramatic backstory, because, well. i dunno, he doesn’t really need one. the implications are pretty bold and in-your-face. he’s endured a lifetime of systematic abuse, and ... what more do you need? theres no necessity to include scenes of gory abuse and mistreatment, because in conditions where ricks can breed “the perfect sidekicks”, ones who are forgiving and patient and kind, one of them got fed up.
and my god. his characterization!!!!! ugh. om nom nom im licking my fingers clean because wow. he’s an asshole! he’s very much deserving of the “evil morty” title, because he’s a bad guy. he tortures a huge pile of mortys, keeps them prisoned, he kills an entire citadel’s worth of ricks and mortys, just so he could leave the central finite curve. and i respect that! like, yeah, it’s a super dick move, but, well. when you know everything, when the bigger picture is practically spoonfed to you, it’s hard not to sympathize. he remains so calm and so apathetic towards everything around him, and just!!! he’s a treat to watch. this cunning personality and this grand escape plan mix so well!!!!!
something else that i think about constantly. the writers. people who are very infamously not into the whole dramatic overarching plot thing. and that’s understandable, because longevity and money etc etc. but even then, they managed to squeeze in this one character, this one little guy. and by the end of his story, he basically doesn’t exist anymore. his arc ends with him leaving the r&m universe. and it’s great for his character, a big success, an escape from the endless cycle of abuse. and it’s great for the writers, because they’ve ended the one longterm project they had. and what a creative way to boot a character from a show. just. gah!!! love evil morty. so much

so okay context for this hc overall is that there are hybrids of the newer mobs but most of them like they dont know theyre hybrids till the mobs like appear but theres some cases where the hybrids like do exsist before the mobs properly exsist in minecraft. idk i know how this works in my head but i dunno if that makes sense
so beef is born a lil baby ravager hybrid in like a pillager group, one day when hes still quite young he gets left behind somewhere whilst theyre travelling or sth - no one looks for him or anything because ravagers dont really care for their young so yeah
he gets found by a very kind villager lady who like adopts him and teaches him everything about the world and players and such, one of the things she told him was that the players dont know about the ravagers or even the pillagers yet so he should always hide his ravager-ness from them (cause like the worlds that exsist are very developed but the ones that the players end up in arent as advanced its like weird)
the village he grows up in is fairly small, nestled into a cliffside but sometimes a wandering trader visits, bringing gifts and stories of far off lands and beef is so curious about it and so when hes old enough he leaves to explore the world
he ends up in mindcrack full of players and new friends but its clear this world isnt the same, the villagers are weird and wrong, he keeps his horns filed down and his sleeves long enough that it covers the markings on his arms (cause like the ravagers have the bluey silver like cuffs things and in my brain like when the baby ravagers are born the magic pillager guys do like a thing that makes bluey kinda markings on the ravager where the cuff things go and like its a thing like this ravager is owned and isnt like a wild one and also makes it like magically easier for the cuffs to like stay there, so beef has the markings)
then he joins hermitcraft with lots of people, new friends and old, and he still hides it, he ends up telling the nho during season 5 during the whole jungle shit, like sth abt the them being trapped and beef has to tell them bc his horns are growing and he cant file them down - although beef is unsure if bdubs actually remembers
beef wasnt technically in season 6 but when he returns in season 7, everyone knows about ravagers now, and beef knows its a hybrid friendly server but he still doesnt tell anyone, he does use his part ravager status to his advantage a little in decked out (the ravagers always hesitate and are slightly reluctant to attack him bc they know hes part ravager)
season 8 he still doesnt tell anyone but the whole alien transformation thing happens which makes beef feel real weird and bad bc of his hybridity, so he decides he will tell everyone before season 9
every like new world beef goes to his horns revert back to their original state so beef is kinda glad he doesnt have to do anything with them this time when he starts the new season, he walks into the pre season meeting before they enter the world, sleeves rolled up and horns on display
he feels v awkward abt it and is kinda just like uh so im a ravager hybrid and everyone is like :o oh, x asks how long hes been hiding it and if thats why he wasnt there in s6 - bc remember that thing abt like hybrids like being activated when they appear in the like game that i mentioned at the beginning - and etho who is like standing net to beef scoffs at that and beef is like uh no ive been a hybrid the whole time which everyone is very surprised by bc like born hybrids arent exactly rare and even happen with the newer mobs but mostly the born hybrids from the newer mobs happen after theyre like in the game
when i say in the game i mean when they got added to the game like yknow but like this isnt a game for the people bc its just their life but phrasing things is hard

Sorting out my Thoughts regarding Tolya and Inej
A few days ago, I finished watshing Shadow and Bone Season 2 and
what.
The.
FUCK.
Some background before you quote me on this!
I first fell in love with the crows on Season 1 of S&B. They, along with the sheer insanity of the fandom that I resonated with, encouraged me to buy the duology and read the hecc out of it. Out of all the grishaverse books, I've only ever read the six of crows duology, so I only know show!Tolya from S&B Season 2.
I am an avid Kanej shipper. I love Kaz. I'm in love with Inej. Love them together and as individual characters. (recently started rereading, and since mentally separating the show and the books, i've been really seeing them in a new lights from both angles! and both endear me.) I hold this ship sacred and very close to my heart, and nothing will ever change that.

Like any other fellow fan who followed the series primarily because of kanej, who learned to peck for crumbs in the briefest (longest) of gazes and the subtlest of interactions, I was on the edge of my seat anticipating every smidge of development between my favourite pair.
It wasn't a steady rise in progression, but it was the Kaz and Inej way, and I loved it. Ot's nice that they kept that sense of angsty realism from the books. (Can't say the impact and heaviness of Kaz's trauma and backstory was fully communicated, but Freddy did SO GREAT.) The sort-of push and pull kept me positively on my toes throughout the whole series, so I became laser-focused on their relationship the whole time.
Then came rolling Episode 8.
GLORIOUS 'and how would you have me?' MOMENT. the tension, the looking at each other, the miniscule changes in expression, the way you could see the monologue in the pause between responses - yes, im talking about kaz 'you, inej. you.' brekker (bless u freddy carter) - and the sheer fragility of the moment. it's everything i could have asked for in an adaptation of that scene
AND I WAS ABSOLUTELY FLOORED.
(and devastated. angst symptom, really. but mostly floored.)
Then we got a little moment with Nikolai and Mal, and damn, even after a break-up-but-not-really-a-break-up, INEJ LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL I SKDJFKDJ
She looked hopeful, which makes sense. For her, its a new beginning. Its a half equivalent of the ending she got in crooked kingdom. The best thing about it is that she just doesn't look like she has any regret. (Not that she doesn't care about Kaz, but that she doesn't regret not settling for less than she deserves.) AND INEJ - inej deserves that kind of weightless freedom.
AND THEN AND THEN
THAT SCENE
THAT SCENEEEEEE
TOLYA OFFERED A HAND FOR THE BAG. LIKE, NOT EVEN TO HELP HER UP YET, SPECIFICALLY FOR THE BAG, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. Inej is a bit estranged by the gesture (She's so used to mannerless crows lol) but gives it, anyway. Tolya offers his other hand. Inej, endeared, but confused, accepts the help, AND YOOO
THE HEAT.
THE HEAT IN TOLYA'S GAZE AS INEJ WALKS FURTHER ONTO THE SHIP.
THE LITTLE SMALL SMIRK AS HE LOOKED AT HER.
THAT. BROKE ME.
WHAT. THE. FUCK.
The tension was there. It's so obvious. THEY (production) MADE SURE IT WAS FELT. I'm balling because I got totally played by the pacing.
Most of what I felt throughout the scene mirrored Inej's. Did not consider AT ALL that Tolya was holding any interest for her, so the quiet and the emphasis in the nonverbal cues in the scene really built up the realization, and that expression Tolya had after Inej turns away hit me in the face like it was Kaz's cane.
Looked for images online, showed it to my friends, and REALLY had to ask their opinion if said expression was a look of interest or I'm just overthinking it. IT COULD VERH WELL BE HIM PLAYFULLY TEASING HER BEING UNUSED TO GENTLE FRIENDLINESS, RIGHT? Friends said that look is their exact look when looking at their love interest, and mhm. Admittedly, I was in denial.
Saw a reddit thread about it! I WAS SO GLAD I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE WHO SAW IT. THEY EVEN LISTED SOME OTHER SCENES FROM OTHER EPISODES THAT POINTED TO TOLYA'S INTEREST, and oh, they were so right.
Having rewatched it, it was really obvious. The tension was there when I really looked at them. I EVEN MISSED HOW TOLYA WAS TELLING OVHAL TO TAKE HIM INSTEAD OF INEJ.
I felt like, from that, I really should have seen it coming.
But I understand that it was easy to get distracted by the other narratives! Such as wesper troubles in paradise, hyperfixated on the way tolya meditated(?) to withstand the poison longer, INEJ'S DELUSION????, Jesper's heartwarming and simultaneously heartbreaking dream, KAZ DENYING HOW MUCH INEJ MEANS TO HIM, Ohval's badassery (i did not think she could get any more badass, but she did), and that wonderful fight scene??? Oh, yeah. So much was happening.
After that scene in episodr 8, it was hard not to try following where his gaze led for the rest of the episode, and definitely found it briefly landing on the part of the boat that Inej was a few seconds later revealed to be hanging from.
Did I already love Tolya before the scene that dropped the bomb? Yes. Do I still love Tolya? Yes, I do. Do I love him so much more for it, regardless? Yes, yes, yes.
Tolya alone with his passion for poetry, family, adventhre, and his superstions was loveable enough. But anyone who treats Inej with the respect she so rightfully deserves also gets a great in my book.
BUT DID I IMMEDIATELY FEEL GUILTY FOR NOT REALLY BEING ADVERSE TO THE IDEA OF TOLYA BEING INTERESTED IN INEJ?
Honestly, a little bit.
But Kanej would always be endgame. And I do not see Tolya as a threat to that.

It's a little unnerving how I didn't see these details and made the connrctions in the series as I watched, but Inej and Tolya are plenty alike.
Both are passionately religious, both know their superstitions, both have an occupation or a way of life that somehow go against some principles of their beliefs, and they SUCKED AT FIGHTING OHVAL LMAO but their movements and actions in episode 6 were really in sync. Could probably inflict more damage together with more practice, but it's a nice detail that they didn't accidentally hit each other even once despite fighting side by side for the first time. (Or I may be overthinking it, and it's just all the characters' innate experiences in fighting because there also wasn't any problems when Inej fought alongside Zoya, someone she also met only recently.) Other than the fighting, it should also be noted that when the door closed, they kinda moved at the same time. could be for cinematic effect. but it can also be interpreted as both of them being right hands mans of a sort, inej to kaz, and tolya to nikolai, leading them to develop similar habits.
These similarities give them something to bond over. Gives Inej someone to learn from. And I don't know Tolya's story yet, but these common traits and interest is part of the main reason I like their dynamic. Doesn't need to be romantic. I feel they can be great friends and close allies, and if they get flirty, that would also be amusing.
I would love to see their on screen interactions in general.

Regarding Inej's trauma and Tolya's Aro-ace representation
If you think about it, these two facts kind of make them compatible. Self-explanatory. If you see this as a ship, Inej not wanting to be touched and Tolya's minimal need/no need for touch is the simplest way to go about things, I feel. Wouldn't fault you for taking that route.
But part of the reason why Kanej works so well is that they encourage and motivate each other to heal from their trauma.
And unless Inej comes out as Ace/Aro/Aro-Ace, it's healthy for book!inej to desire to touch another person in spite of her trauma. No matter how slow the progress.
In the show, Inej's trauma is never discussed at all. It even seems non existent. I could handle them not confronting it directly. It's possible they may be saving it for the spinoff. But the show of physical casual physical contact kind of negates that a bit, such as Jesper coming up to hug Inej and spin her around. But to fit in the narrative, I think Tolyacan help with that. More on that in a bit, but first
The headcanon that Tolya is Aro-Ace
This is really the only source I found regarding any book statements about the origins of Tolya being Aro-Ace. And I've read the fact that Tolya is the only one eith no clear partner through the books have been brought up!
And while I first interpreted this quote from the book as something like, he just doesn't particularly think about it or desire it, and is completely fine with taking his time,
I am also very much in love with the Aro-Ace representation. It's rare, and it feels right on Tolya, to be honest.
Like I said, I don't particularly want him and Inej to be a certain way. (TRYING SO HARD NOT TO PROJECT ON INEJ CAUSE IM ATTRACTED TO HIM) But i do want to see some semblance of closeness between them!
So Queer platonic relationships do exist. I think it's a valid path or ending fanfiction-wise for those who want them 'together' together! I think the exposure to it, and how such a relationship would work, still validates the representation. but I'm not Aro-Ace myself, so do correct me if I'm wrong, and my sincerest apologies if I've offended anyone.
Part of why I still find hope for the Aro-Ace HC is because Tolya doesn't seem to be operating on his interest for Inej based on physical attraction or emotional connection. His intetest truly started from the life debt, then gratitude, thst he'd developed concern for her. I also think Tolya could just be a bit reverent of Inej (hence the look in e08), or appreciate her as a person or someone he could resonate with, but that's my own headcanon.

For how whatever is between tolya and inej could be a significant narrative, please refer to this BCOS THEY SAID IT PERFECTLY AND THATS RLLY THE ONLY WAY I CAN ENVISION IT HAPPENING ROMANTICALLY, AND REALLY ITS SO TRUEEE, AND DOES WONDERS FOR THE KANEJ DEVELOPMENT, would make endgame kanej all the more gratifying. its a bit inej-centered tho, and we also need to talk about how its important to tolya
this one explains how it would be narratively significant for tolya, too. tolya's realization of identity happening in the show also kind of matches the kind of subtle changes the adaptation makes to characters (like how in the show, we are shown inej's first kill, but inej has long resorted to murder in the start of soc), so personally, i agree, and think it would fit.

There have been some supposed leaked backgrounds of The Owl House Season 3 floating around on the internet, like Tumblr. Have you seen them yet and have any thoughts or theories on them, or do you prefer to avoid all potential spoilers? I wonder how they got leaked to begin with, and I hope nothing major spills out before the premiere, since the crew's already had enough to deal with Disney's bullshit. I wonder if Allura has very small telepathy powers that let her talk to the mice specifically, magic is probably why the team was able to see Alfor in the first place too

Hi. I just read your most recent fic and I am so unwell about it actually. That was the most perfect thing i've ever read. Eddie's line about marriage vow best friends!!!
It got me thinking about Eddie in season 6. I've been trying to figure out what was going through Eddie's brain thoughtout season 6 for ages and I think your fic finally helped me figure out most of it.
Specifically when you mentioned buck only feeling worthy of love when he's been injured. This combined with the post of yours that I saw earlier today about Eddie waiting for Buck has me thinking.
Like you said, Eddie knows he is in love with Buck but he is waiting for him at the beginning of s6. This continues right through 6a with the sperm donor arc - where Eddie definitley doesn't agree with Buck's descions. I think it's because Eddie already knows Buck is a part of the Diaz family and already has a kid. It serves as a reminder that Buck isn't seeing the options in front of him. But Eddie keeps waiting
Now this is the bit that your fic gave me an idea about. After the lightning Eddie has just been felt what it is like to live in a world without Buck and there are enough parallels between it and Shannons death that its safe to say eddie is being reminded what it is liek to lose a partner. I was expecting him to do something like the will reveal, only a step further. But he doesn't. Becacuse Eddie sees Buck and he knows that Buck is used to only being loved after he is injured and Eddie doesn't want to do that to Buck because he loves him regardless. So he waits. I think that is maybe a reason why he didn't come to Buck's place. Eddie is still waiting for Buck in Death and Taxes and maybe he feels like Buck is finally in a place where he's started to heal emotionally and maybe he could do or say something soon. and then Buck hits him with the 'she sees me'. And that's when Eddie becomes a bit more open about the dates. Eddie was waiting all this time because he sees Buck and he knows he had to figure things out and how he might feel about all the attention right after the lightning and then he realised Buck doesn't seem to see any of it at all.
(I'm sorry for dumping all this in your inbox and im sorry if this doesn't make sense. It felt weird making it my own post when most of the theory is from you anyway.)
