Dragon IK AU:
Im glad that you like the idea, it has been brewing in my head for a good while now. About Bailu, you dont need to know about her, what i meant is Bailu’s design is what i imagine Ik would look like with visible dragon traits. Just search up Bailu in google and see her design, it would somewhat fit Ik.
Now i originally imagine her to be a small bby dragon when she goes full dragon but i like the idea of Ik being able to be a BIG and little dragon because it would hilarious. Like the small human you’re trying to kill is suddenly a huge ass dragon, easily beat you up, then after beating you up, become a small little baby dragon. (Also do you know that small dragon zhongli merch plush? Yeah that’s small bby dragon Ik)
Now that you mention her powers that comes with being a chinese dragon, i feel like Levi would be the most helpful on trying to understand it. I dont think i mention this but Ik doesnt know she was half human and half dragon at all. All her life, she thought she was fully human, now she is actually a dragon with all these cool powers. But not everything comes easy the first time. Ik might have some crisis with the revelation she is a dragon (maybe??? I mean being an actual dragon that your home country worship isnt a small revelation). With Levi’s connection to the sea and such and also having Lotan, Levi can help Ik control her powers and Lotan can help with her getting used to her new form since hydra and chinese dragon are somewhat similar. (Also about the wish granting magic idea, maybe it’s best that Ik doesnt have that because Mammon would definitely use it to get more grimm or pay off his debts)
And about the god thing, wouldnt that make Ik a demigod? She’s half human from Zhao and half dragon from her mom, that’s essentially what a demigod is right? But tbh, i just see it like a half adeptus thing with Ganyu and Yanfei. Also the celestial realm… idk how they would feel with a demigod(?) being in devildom but what i do know it wouldnt be a pleasant one

ah, gotcha! i'm always a sucker for this specific kind of dragon horn, so definitely a fan of this design (though not sure how to feel about the fact that bailu apparently isn't a child and just looks like that)
i think levi would definitely be ik's main guide for figuring out her new dragon abilities! they'd go out on a trip to the sea and just spend ages playing around with the water (though ik's control isn't great, so sometimes she'll accidentally start summoning a tsunami and levi has to jump in to get things under control)
i definitely wouldn't use the god aspect of chinese in a literal sense, but the celestial realm hearing of a 'functional demigod' appearing in the devildom would probably be cause for alarm. unlike the angel hybrid au though, they've got no claim to her custody despite the divine heritage, so i guess they'd just have to stew in it until they think of something...
as for the brothers, levi of course is super hyped!! mammon is similarly so ("hell yeah we can go flying together now!!!"), while satan is reassessing his animal tier list because ik's little dragon form might actually be even cuter than a cat. asmo's delighted by both big and little forms, because the former is magnificent and he loves getting to help shine her scales, and of course the latter is adorable
belphie probably tries to get ik to conjure up storms so that they'll cancel school. he basically uses her little dragon form as a hot water bottle, and meanwhile beel likes getting flown about when she's in Big form because he's normally the one doing the carrying, so this is a breath of fresh air!
lucifer's probably the only one who even considers the celestial realm's thoughts on this, but ultimately he's like "who gives a shit what they think" and starts a little diary to keep track of ik's growth (which he's very proud of)

I feel Iike you may be all over the place like one moment it’s this the next it’s something else there may have been a lot of things that changed or leaving behind recently. I do feel that you’re leaving something or something left and you’re moving on but it still lingers in your mind. You may have had an awakening or saw the truth of something and now it’s in the past. You regret and think about this life decisions that you made but this happened for a reason it helped you grow and glow. I feel like you’re gaining control for the situation and rebuilding yourself. If you were dealing with a person I feel Ike they were very rude and troubled they would lash out a lot very masculine energy but like toxic masculinity. cant talk to anyone irl about this so here i am lol. my mom used to make comments about my body, and how id be so much pretty if i lost some weight (when her comments started getting to me i looked up my bmi (ik bmi isnt the best assessment of weight/ health) to see if i was really that bad and i was normal leaning underweight) that kinda helped me, and i felt better for a while, and her comments on my body stopped (but her comments on her own never did) but i guess in quarantine it got to me more than i thought lol i started browsing the ed side of tumblr and downloaded a calorie tracking app, for two weeks i ate less than it recommended (im an overachiever lol) but i didn't lose any weight (technically i did but it wasn't visible so it doesn't really count lol) but the whole time i was terrified of depriving my body of fuel, accidentally starving myself, and overall doing more harm than good(which is why i refused to purge or fast) so i deleted the app and stopped. this was one or two years ago, so i thought it was over it, but lately the little nagging voice thats been telling me how much better id look and feel if i lost weight is getting louder (and more convincing). i want to lose weight but I don't want to do it unhealthy/obsessively or spiral out of control. any advice? (i dont think i had an ed, just an unhealthy relationship (ig fear would be more accurate lol) w/ calories/food in general)

They also save random memes/pics related to seggs in their camera roll, I wonder what do y'all search history are like 👁️👄👁️ (I love y'all thou 🥰💕)

(yes again Ik this has been mentioned a lot) I would see y'all worrying about smtg all of the time if you went out with your friends and would carry a medium sized bag with everything inside it. Wet wipes? ✔︎ Band aid kit? ✔︎ Sewing kit? ✔︎ Extra clothing? ✔︎ Pens? ✔︎ (and the list goes on)

The Fellowship reacts to ur top surgery
((This is 100% self indulgent. im dysphoric and in need of validation ok leave me be))
At least in my experience, showing off ur chest after surgery is a trans thing. Trans femmes, trans mascs, androgynous non-binary ppl, agender ppl, doesn’t matter. Makes sense too, when at least in the US u pay thousands for that designer chest. So here’s my take on how the fellowship would react. CW for top surgery and the things that come with it. Also for those who are pre op and dealing w dysphoria it could b emotional.
Gandalf would give u advice beforehand, telling u what to ask ur surgeon, walking u through the procedure and what to expect in recovery. Upon seeing ur chest post op for the first time he’d prob say something like “ah yes, fine work indeed. Be sure to thank your surgeon for me.”
Aragorn, man of few words, will simply high five u n say “nice”
Legolas would 100% be the “OOH IT LOOKS SO GOOD” kind of friend, u know? Prob would ask lots of questions abt the procedure and healing process.
I 100% believe and support the headcanon that dwarves are super chill abt gender. They do not give a fuck and i love it. So gimli being himself would prob react like an overly proud dad. like “YEEESSS!!!” (U know, like the one part at the end of FOTR) and attempt to raise u up on his shoulders. Depending on what race u see urself as In Middle Earth, he’d have varying degrees of success.
Merry: *lifts shirt* hey me too! Teet yeet buddies ((I love trans merry so much I’m physically shaking. Trans Meriadoc rights))
Pippin, upon hearing abt loss of sensation after surgery, would start repeatedly poking ur chest (with consent) saying “well can you feel this? what about this?” He’ll also bring up how he’s heard of ppls n!p grafts falling off after surgery and will ask u if ur worried abt that, and what u would do if they did fall off. U can’t tell if he’s being serious. Also bc I’m a believer in genderfluid/genderqueer pippin, i feel like he’d def make t!tty exchange program jokes.
Ik a lot of ppl headcanon him as being a little transphobic but I’ve always headcanoned Boromir as the person who takes time to learn but once he does is aggressively affirming and pro trans rights. Or like the ally who’s the embodiment of the “he a little confused but he got the spirit” meme. So like he doesn’t get it but he recognizes it makes u happy and is happy for u bc of that. Also he will 100% go up to bat for u. He may not always say the right things but he’ll show up when it matters. I think he’d be curious abt the process and want to ask u abt it, but would b nervous to say the wrong things.
Sam is the person who asks abt ur recovery, checking in to make sure ur feeling ok, and is ur after surgery support. He’ll help u for the first couple weeks after, make sure ur taking ur meds when u need to and u have everything u need to make recovery as quick and easy as possible. He also learned as much abt it before hand as possible, even asking ur surgeon more questions than u did. Upon seeing ur chest for the first time, he’ll make comments abt how it’s healing very well, and ask if u have been doing everything the doctors said.
I feel like Frodo would say something v intuitive. “I’m not sure if this is an alright thing to say, but this looks right on you. I’m not sure how to explain it. It just seems better for you. Like a weight is gone. You look happier, is what i mean.”
Bonus:
The Fellowship as a whole, but specifically the Rich Boy Squad (Merry, Pippin, Frodo, Legolas and Boromir) see to it that everything is covered, so u don’t have to worry abt the cost
U express concerns abt post op depression/regret and some of the members of the fellowship (u decide who) help u write letters to remind urself why u did it in the first place.
U go swimming for the first time post op w the Fellowship and it’s one of the best and most affirming experiences ever.
I don’t know why. I can’t explain. But I’ve decided gimli is good with textiles. He makes u a very large and very soft blanket

Karma: I see something with ladders, could have also been superstitious. Classic and cringe ik but I got those feelings and vibes. I see war somewhere the morning after I put this in my drafts. A man or guy fighting, now a boy. Struggling in the trenches, mudded and scared shitless. New crush at church...
So if y’all have or haven’t been keeping up with my posts about this guy, he’s new to our church and joined the youth choir. I’m really attracted to him and I wanna get to know him.
This past Friday, I went on out to choir practice and he happened to be there so you can imagine my excitement, especially when I was hoping he’d show.
One of the very first things that happened between us was he sat down in a chair literally so close to me. I was like “hollup, what is personal space to you?” But I lowkey liked it
I literally got up like a minute after that to go charge my phone bc I was so shook that he did that, I like couldn’t believe 😳 and then when I sat back down, I sat one seat further away
Idk, I hope it wasn’t awks and that nobody noticed! 😭 I’m sure he did, but nobody else. also I didn’t tell you, but for a while it was only like 4 of us there
And that made for such an intimate setting for me personally, because we were all talking and really connecting on a deeper level about praise and worship songs
Occasionally we were making eye contact and idk if I’m reading too hard into it, but I felt sparks. Like the eye contact was definitely consistent and healthy between us.
So that was good. I had to at one point hand over a bag of carrots bc we were sharing food with each other and he went “I don’t really eat carrots like that.”
It wasn’t my food, but I was just happy I could hand him the bag. When we started practicing, he was a lot more talkative and was suggesting lots of songs, it was nice!
It was interesting to hear him speak yesterday after not getting to all this time, he has an accent. I found it actually kind of hard to understand tbh.
That threw me all the way off bc I didn’t expect him to sound like that at all. But hearing him speak so much was totally cool. And eventually I got the privilege of finding out he knows Spanish.
So not that y’all would know, but I’ve been learning Spanish lately and when that topic came up? I was shocked! What are the odds? In my head I was thinking, he needs to teach me.
And then as if my friend who was there could read my mind, it was like she said exactly what I was thinking: “you are my new friend! You’re gonna help me learn Spanish.”
And like I felt so in sync with everyone who was surrounded by me right then. It was super crazy how the only people there were all interested in speaking Spanish and singing Spanish songs?
I’ve been very serious about learning Spanish at the moment so I’m hoping it comes in handy in the near future. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess.
Later as the night went on, we started to brainstorm song ideas and then eventually narrowed down on a few and began practicing them.
We for the most part sounded beautiful with our harmonies and I kept fooling around with going back and forth between parts to find the best sounds/harmonies.
Since we weren’t 100% sure of the melody, I kept playing around with the tenor note. At one point I recall him mumbling to his cousin who was already attending our church:
“Is she a tenor?” LOL it was definitely a loud enough question for everyone in the room to hear so I wondered why he hadn’t just asked me personally.
I wanted to answer him personally but we were in the middle of singing our next line for the song and I didn’t want to be more disruptive to our progress.
So the night consisted of a lot of laughter and beautiful singing between us. I caught some looks of him and tried to make sense of myself that I was finally into a guy.
As the night was coming to an end, we were closing out in prayer and we were standing fairly close to each other so I knew this meant I’d have to be holding his hand tonight.
Or so I thought! Literally right as we had touched the tips of each other’s hands, we began to separate to make room for two other people who were behind us.
To say I was devastasted would be an overreaction honestly. I was actually moreso relieved! However, I must add that it seemed he was just as eager as me to hold hands?
Which I thought was interesting! 😳 so we ended our prayer and everyone stayed back to chat a bit, he was lingering around me looking at a flyer that was being handed out.
I actually almost forgot, but he asked me “is this _____________?” On the flyer since we were talking about going out to support our fellow youth at a play.
He was standing right in front of me asking at that point, so I was the one to answer him yes. I felt a little special ngl, like maybe his position of standing was intentional.
So we were all kinda just taking our time leaving to go upstairs. Everyone was standing in around the same place for a minute or two and he was there with his cousin.
I felt like... a weird vibe like he was waiting to see my next move and keep up with me so he could get to sit with me. But I was trying my hardest not to pay him any mind.
Like I just wanted to see where that moment was gonna take us bc I felt as if he wanted to talk to me individually now and find out more about me but he wasn’t sure if it was a good time.
Anyways we all started to slowly walk upstairs to listen to the grief fellowship and discussion of our pastor’s passing. And I’d say that was the last of our interactions for the night?
Maybe, just maybe, he’ll be interested? I can never tell if they’re interested back. I want to believe he is bc I feel like I can always pick up on vibes heavily.
My first few encounters with running into him in the past, my mom actually confessed to me today that she had seen him looking in our direction at one point this past Sunday.
That gave me a lot of hope bc my mom and I were saying if he doesn’t reciprocate, then don’t be the chaser, just leave it alone. Especially since she admitted he looks like a Casanova.
Which I was a little upset about. Once she said that, it made me nervous bc Ik girls will have an eye on him and he is gonna be a hard one to lock down by just looks.
I’m not one to want to compete with other girls for a guy’s attention. It’s just not worth it and I don’t want/need that kind of drama in my life, so for this guy, he def has to like me more.
Which is why, moving forward, as much as I would like to get to know him, I think it’ll only have to be as a friend for now and from afar if I have to since I don’t wanna get hurt.
I think it’s in my best interest to just take things slow, observe how he tries to interact with me and analyze amongst my mom and friends. But most importantly, pray to God for guidance.
So far, the vibe is fine for me. I don’t get any nerve-wracking or anxious thoughts about him. When I was around him, he didn’t make me as nervous as I’d usually be in the past.
That made me feel good. However, I’m gonna keep checking in with my intuition and the vibes and my analysis’ making sure that I’m not rushing into/forcing him to try to like me.
It has to naturally happen and he has to reeeeally be attracted to me or I believe this will never work. So I’m gonna leave it in God’s hands, as easy as that may seem, it’ll be hard.
And my mom was also saying she thinks he could be younger than me by a little, so if that’s the case, I’m definitely gonna be cautious. I’m not really into younger guys, so I’m definitely concerned about that.
All the other times I’d seen him in the past, we’d share some glances of each other and I would always wonder if it was an “i’m-definitely-attracted-to-you” look or something less.
From here on, it’s just an observing and praying game and I’m gonna make sure I play it safe. Before I go on about this boy, lemme focus next on learning his name and age 😂

WAAROM IK LIEVER ANALOOG FOTOGRAFEER EN WERK MAAK
Een tijdje terug was ik in het Poortgebouw. Mijn beste vriend woont daar en op donderdag kun je daar voor een paar euro goed eten. Terwijl ik hielp met de drankverkoop, raakte ik aan de praat met een Chileense man, zijn naam ben ik vergeten. Vanwege mijn Peruaanse afkomst sprak ik hem aan, met de uitdaging om het gesprek in het Spaans te voeren. Deels omdat hij matig Engels en vrijwel geen Nederlands sprak, maar vooral omdat ik te weinig mijn best doe om mijn moeders taal op peil te houden (andere vorm?).
Hij was documentairemaker, ik beeldende kunst student, de gesprekken gingen al snel over perspectief en het vastleggen van momenten. We hadden het over Martín Chambi, een van de eerste inheems latijn-amerikaanse fotografen, en zijn bijzondere foto’s. De belangrijkheid van zijn rol binnen een wereld waar het narratief meestal uit een westers oogpunt wordt weergeven. En vanuit deze uitwisseling ontstond er een begrip voor mijn intuïtieve drang om zoveel mogelijk analoog te fotograferen (en te creëren), die mij een beetje sprakeloos achterlieten.
Het vastleggen van momenten is het het vastpakken van iets dat fysiek ongrijpbaar is. Het is het vasthouden van iets wat passeert en het zo uit te rekken en een plek in de toekomst te geven. Het vastgelegde moment, in het speciaal analoog, wordt met alle zorg en aandacht tot in de puntjes uitgerekt door het wachten, ontwikkelen, bewerken, drukken, ophangen, delen, etc.
“Houd je van voetbal?”
“Niet echt..”
“Maar je weet hoe het werkt toch?”
“Ja!”
“Het is net als het moment dat iemand de bal in het doel schopt door hem uit de lucht terug te schoppen. Op dat moment moet je weten wat er achter je speelt - het verleden, wat er gaat gebeuren - toekomst, en precies in die samenkomst, op het juiste moment: de bal schieten - het heden. Het is de exacte samenkomst van deze drie, die zorgen voor een goal. Net als wanneer je een foto maakt, zonder dat evenwicht is de foto niets.”
Het is de creatie van een samenkomst tussen verleden, heden en toekomst ineen en dat vervolgens zo lang mogelijk herbeleven.
“Ik ben jaloers dat jij dat kan, dat vastleggen. Ik wilde het liefst fotograaf worden, maar ik ben daar niet goed in. Daarom ben ik maar gaan filmen.”

WHY I SHOOT FILM AND RATHER WORK ANALOGOUSLY
Some time ago I was at Poortgebouw. One of my best friends lives there and on thursday you are able to eat a decent meal for a few euros. While I was helping out with selling some drinks, I started a conversation with a Chilean guy, I forgot his name. Due to my Peruvian background I approached him, with the challenge to have a conversation in Spanish. Partly because his English was just reasonable and he spoke little to nothing Dutch, but mostly because I came aware that I put to little effort in speaking my mother’s native language.
He was a documentary filmmaker, I a visual art student, naturally the subject diverted to perspective and the capturing of moments. We talked about Martín Chambi, one of the first indigenous latin american photographers, and his particular images. About his importance of his role within a world where narratives are mostly formed from a western point of perspective. And throughout this exchange grew a self-understanding of the intuitive push to mostly shoot film and work analogously, which left me a bit dazed.
Capturing moments is to grasp something that is physically intangible. It is holding onto something what passes by and by doing this: extending it and giving it a place in the future. The captured instant, especially when this is analogue, is extended to the fullest with utter care and attention by waiting, developing, editing, pressing, hanging up, sharing, etc.
“Do you like football?”

“But you have watched a match, haven’t you?”
“Yes!”
“It is like the moment that one of the players scores by hitting the ball backwards in the air. At that moment you have to remember what is going on behind your back - the past, what is going to happen when you touch it - the future, and at the exact right split moment, hit the ball - the present. It is in that precise coming together of these three, that make the goal possible. Just like when you make a picture, without that balance the picture will be nothing.”
It is the creation of the coming together of past, future and present in one and trying to experience that for as long as possible.
“I am jealous that you can do that, capturing moments. I wanted to become a photographer, but I found out I wasn’t good at it. That’s why I started filming.”

Pairing: Liz Allan x wlw!Reader
Summary: Requested by the lovely @tomhollandcouk! Vaguely, a gay Liz fic. In detail, Liz takes the chance in admitting her feelings, but different men in her life make the relationship complicated.
Warnings: Swears, gay (ik not a warning but), Liz’s parents are homophobic.
Word Count: 3095 (ik it’s long but it’s not long enough to split)
A/N: Again, this fic is gay. Also, this one is angsty and sad. Rip. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I liked writing it!
Junior year, things were supposed to be easier. Sure, you were going to be studying your ass off for the SATs and starting to look at colleges, but it wasn’t supposed to be so stressful. Midtown knew their students were trying to get test scores that were MIT-level, so junior year classes were meant to be a little more lax. Until about halfway through junior year, things were easier. Your SAT scores came back, and you cried with a good friend of yours, Betty, about how well you’d both done. While eating your celebratory ice cream, your world came crashing down.
“Say, (Y/N), you mind if I ask you a personal question, best friend to best friend?”
Raising an eyebrow at her, you replied, “No, go ahead.”
“How long have you loved Liz?”
You sucked in a breath, causing you to choke on the water you were drinking. “What?” you asked as you were gasping for air.
Betty gave you a look. “Come on, (Y/N). I see it. I know that look. It’s the same one I always give Kenny.”
“Are you sure?” you asked, blush creeping up your neck.
“Judging by how red your face is, yeah, I’m sure.”
You rubbed your face with one hand and said, “Y’know, I haven’t really talked about this with anyone…” You trailed off, but the look in Betty’s eyes urged you to go on. “Look, Betty, I’ve had a crush on her since we all became friends back in freshman year… I guess I kinda… fell in love with her sometime along the way? I don’t really remember one specific event where I definitely knew, but… I know it for sure now.”
The smile on Betty’s face was brighter than sunshine. “(Y/N)! That’s so cute!”
“Oh, stop, no it’s not. Being in love with your best friend is stupid lesbian shit that should only happen on TV.”
Betty shook her head. “Nope, it’s happening to you, and my intuition tells me that it’s also happening to Liz.”
This made you glare at Betty as you retorted, “Yeah, and I’m straight, Betty.”
She made a sharp “ugh!” noise in offense, and her mouth dropped open. “(Y/N), I’m serious!”
“I don’t believe you…” you replied, going back to your ice cream. “And don’t you meddle in this, Miss Future Journalist,” you added as an afterthought.
“Okay, (Y/N)… Best friends honour,” Betty gave in with a heavy sigh.

Two weeks later, Liz hosted an end-of-semester party. Betty kept pushing you to tell Liz before you went on a vacation with your family, but you kept refusing. You weren’t ready, you kept telling her. Later, you said it just wasn’t the right time. Betty eventually gave up for the evening, letting lose and having fun dancing to the songs Flash was blasting over the speakers. For a freshman, he was a pretty damn good DJ.
You stayed til the end of the party, as always. Since Liz had started being Midtown’s main party host, you helped clean up after parties so she wouldn’t have to do it alone. She always said you didn’t have to, but you always did anyways. After all, it guaranteed you nearly an hour of time with Liz all to yourself.
This time, however, Liz approached you when Flash announced the last song. She’d always come and dance with you and Betty and your other friends, but this was different. Instead of bouncing up and waving her arms to the music, she made a beeline to your group. Then, she gently touched your arm.
“Hey, (Y/N), were you planning on staying after to clean up tonight?”
“Yeah, of course!” You gave her a confused look.
She smiled, and you melted a little. “Okay, great! I just…wanna talk to you about something.” You confused look deepened, and she scrambled for an explanation. “Uh, well, like, say goodbye before you leave and stuff! And I’ve got you a little Christmas gift…”
Your eyes widened. “I didn’t bring yours!”
“It’s okay,” she said, waving a hand. “You can give it to me when we go back to school.”
“Oh, okay!” you said with a smile, and you two danced to the rest of the song.
You both waved at the retreating cars from Liz’s doorway, and then began cleaning up. While Liz took the kitchen, you took the dancefloor, placing your phone on the coffee table and turning on some quiet music. You figured Liz would do the same. Then, you heard her voice from the kitchen.
“Hey, I love this one! Can you turn it up?”
You looked towards the kitchen quizzically, but turned up Hayley Kiyoko’s voice anyways. Hayley was a notoriously gay artist, but you didn’t ask how Liz knew her. Although part of you was aching to know, the part of you that was afraid of the answer caused your throat to go dry. You ignoring the question begging to be asked and went back to cleaning, humming along to “Sleepover.”
After you finished cleaning, you followed Liz into her room. She started with the gift, chewing on her lip. Judging by her nervousness, you figured she had spent a lot of time picking out this gift. The item inside was a necklace with a small pendant of an atom, the nucleus a sparkly blue topaz. Gasping, you smacked a hand to your mouth.
“Liz, I love it!”
“You do?” Her eyes sparkled with delight.
“Yes! Would you help me put it on?”
“Of course.” She stood and walked around behind you. As she fiddled with the clasp, she began speaking again. “Okay, so… I wanted to talk to you about something.”
“Yeah?”
“Okay, I talked to Betty about this like a month ago… She’s kept telling me that I should say this to you…” Her heavy sigh blew air all over the back of your neck, and you tried your hardest not to shiver. “Uh, (Y/N)… I’ve felt this way for a really long time, so I don’t want you to blow this off, okay?” She spun you around and looked into your eyes. “I’m falling in love with you, (Y/N), and I don’t think I can keep pretending anymore.”
Tears welled in your eyes before you could stop them. “Really?”
She gave you a look. “Yes, why would I lie about that?”
“Liz,” you said, placing a hand on her cheek, “I love you too.”
Time seemed to slow down around the two of you as your lips connected. Finally, this moment that you’d dreamed about for literally years was happening. Your heart was beating so fast, and you felt like you couldn’t possibly pull Liz close enough. Your bodies were pressed together, but your hand was still on her back, trying to bring her closer. Any space at all was too much.
Time flew as you kissed, and Liz ended up asking if you wanted to spend the night. After a quick conversation with her parents and a phone call to your mother, you were changing into a pair of Liz’s pjs. You’d worn her clothes hundreds of times, but your hands shook a little as you pulled the cotton shorts over your legs. Now, you weren’t just wearing a friend’s clothes; these belonged to the girl you kissed.
“Can we spoon?” Liz blurted as soon as you walked back in from the bathroom. She flushed and explained, “Uhm, it’s something I’ve dreamt about…holding you, I mean.”
You blushed as well, saying, “Oh, well, of course.”
The two of you got in bed, and Liz draped her arm around you, pulling you close to her body. Getting comfortable, you wiggled back into her. Her other arm was under your neck, her hand out in front of your face. Gingerly, you reached up and held her hand. It wasn’t long before you both fell asleep (after sharing a few more kisses, of course).
The next morning, you walked home wearing yesterday’s jeans and one of Liz’s sweatshirts. You didn’t take it off for the rest of the weekend because it smelled like her.

You went on like this for months. Nearly every weekend, one of you would sleep over at the other’s house, and you’d spend the night kissing and cuddling the hours away. It was everything you’d dreamed it would be and more. Every moment you spent with her, you fell a little more in love with her.
Betty pretended to be jealous that you were hanging out with Liz more than you were her, but she was incredibly happy for you both. Every time you would say something about Liz when the pair of you went out together, Betty would be sure to rub it in that she was right. She was glad to see you both so happy and so into each other, but she was the only one who knew. To everyone else, you and Liz were merely the closest of friends.
Over the summer, however, you got to act however you wanted all the time. Your parents all worked, so both of your houses (or, at least one of them) was empty a lot of the time. Instead of being like typical mischievous teenagers and having a lot of friends over, you just had sleepovers almost every night. You saw her constantly, but you honestly couldn’t get enough of Liz, and she couldn’t get enough of Liz.
That is, until her father came home a day early from a business trip.

After he kicked you out of the house for kissing his “little girl”, Liz hadn’t spoken to you for three days. You figured it was because her parents had grounded her, and her (very long) message the moment she got her phone back proved you right. Unfortunately, now, her parents didn’t trust you, and you weren’t allowed over anymore. You told Liz to blame everything on you, that you’d pressured her, so that she wouldn’t get in trouble at all. Even though you knew her parents would never forgive you if Liz ruined your image in their minds like that, you figured it would be better for her relationship with them. You were sure that would be easier to come to terms with than a gay daughter.
In secret, you continued seeing each other. Liz would go to “Betty’s house” to hang out for a few hours and then go home. At one point, her parents were curious why she was spending so much time with Betty all of a sudden, and Liz told them that Betty was “pure and straight”. That one stung you, but her parents liked the answer.

Senior year was a different story. With study groups, her parents couldn’t stop you from coming over to the house. A mutual friend, David, had agreed to be your beard specifically to Liz’s parents, so you would show off new pictures of you and your boyfriend almost every time you were at Liz’s house. One night, her father commented that he respected your “newfound maturity”, and you brushed him off with a nervous laugh while inside you felt like he had set your lungs on fire.
Then, Liz started noticing someone on the Decathlon team: a sophomore called Peter Parker. He was cute, sure, but he was more of a “little brother” cute to you. Not cute like Liz was cute. When Liz said he was cute though, it sounded the same way as when she said you were cute. It worried you, but you chalked it up to paranoia because you were dating the prettiest girl in school in secret. Then, she surprised you.
“What if we both had beards, (Y/N)?”
“Why would you need one? Your parents think I’m the demon spawn.” You expressed genuine curiosity to the best of your ability, trying not to come off bitter.
“Well, y’know, homecoming is coming up…”
You nodded. “We talked about both wearing black this year, right?”
“Something like that,” she said with a laugh. “But…if I had a date, that’ll make my parents really believe I’m done thinking about girls and stuff…” She paused for a moment. “What do you think?”
“Yeah, that sounds fine,” you replied, smiling.
That Friday, when you went dress shopping with Liz and Betty, Liz picked out a pink dress.

The next weekend, the Decathlon Nationals occurred in DC, and your girl nearly died. You couldn’t sleep until she was safe at home, and your mother kept asking if everything was okay. After all, you and Liz didn’t see as much of each other as you used to. You blew her off with some sort of “still one of my best friends” comment.
You worried all weekend, and were more than ecstatic to see Liz on Monday afternoon. Before you could even get a word in, she blurted, “Peter asked me to homecoming! I said yes.”
Peter Parker.
“That’s great!” you gave her an enthusiastic smile. Betty reached over and squeezed your hand, and you could tell she knew something was up.
“Liz, I know that you’re gonna be busy with setting up and all that, but (Y/N) and I were gonna go out for ice cream. Did you want us to wait for you?”
“No, that’s okay! Thanks though!”
Betty dragged you out of the school, and you panicked so much that she just walked you to her house. After covering you in a blanket and making you a fresh cuppa, she sat down with you on the couch.
“Tell me everything.”
“There isn’t much to tell.” You chewed on your lip. “She said something about taking Peter as a beard, but it seems like she actually likes Peter.”
Betty’s gaze fell away from you as she searched for something to say. “(Y/N), I know it won’t make you feel better, but I’m so fucking sorry this is happening…”
“It’s not your fault,” you said as you leaned into her. “I just hope homecoming isn’t too long.”

You went with David and a large group of your friends (including Betty and Kenny) to the dance. Under the lights, the silky material of your dress shimmered, and your friends showered you in compliments. You thanked them with gracious smiles and awkward laughs, but your eyes would barely leave the door. Try as you might, you couldn’t stop anticipating Liz’s arrival. The only opinion you cared about was hers.
When she walked in, she was without Peter. She immediately came up to your group and said, “Dad decided to give Peter a ‘Dad Talk’.” She made air quotes, causing the posse to laugh. As an afterthought, she added, “By the way, you all look great!”
And that was it. Then, she just started dancing with the rest of you like you were just a group of friends. On the outside, you were, but the worry creeping into your lungs was starting to burn. You tried not to grimace as you realized you should have feigned sick like you debated on doing.
As soon as Peter walked in, Liz broke off from the group. He only spoke to her for a moment before running out of the other end of the gym. Slowly, almost in a daze, Liz walked back to the group. She looked defeated and sad, so the group greeted her with a bunch of “are you okay”s and “what happened”s.
“Peter’s ditching,” was all she said.
You chewed your bottom lip as some of your friends latched onto her with a chorus of apologies. Not wanting to feel the butterflies you still got every time her skin touched yours, you focused on having a nice guy with David. You weren’t into each other at all, but he was a lovely friend. Through the past few months, you’d spent a lot of time hanging out and taking cute pictures together, so you’d gotten used to having him around.
During a slow song, he told you, “You need to tell her that she hurt you.” When you opened your mouth to protest, he continued, “(Y/N). You haven’t looked at her since she walked in. It’s obvious something’s wrong.”
You sighed heavily. “Okay.”

After the dance, the plan was to go to the local IHOP for midnight pancakes. You all had gone back to your house to change clothes because none of you wanted to sit in those stuffy booths in suits and dresses. At your house, you confronted Liz after she changed. You offered her a hair tie, and she accepted. While she was preoccupied, you spoke.
“Look, Liz…”
“(Y/N), save it. Please. Don’t tell me you’re sorry that Peter ditched because I know you aren’t.”
Her words stung. “That’s not what I was gonna say…” you trailed off, chewing your lip.
“Well, what, then? Peter leaving has left me in a bit of a mood.”
“I just… I’m worried that you really like him… Like, the same way you like me.”
Liz sighed and rubbed her face with her hands. “You had to bring this up now, didn’t you?”
“Why are you saying it like that?” you asked, even though you already knew the answer.
You felt the tears burn in your eyes as she told you, “Yes, (Y/N). Plus, he’s safe. He’s a sweet boy that both of my parents like… I was planning on keeping our relationship up after tonight.”
“And what about me?” The tears were falling freely, but you didn’t care.
“I was gonna do my best to let you down easy when it was just me and you and not a house full of people.”

One foot out of the Closet, part one: How to tell Your Best Friend
I’m going to attempt to write something for this blog because I’ve avoided it for like *looks back* shit, it’s been like six hundred years! Anyway, there’s probably books of methods of the “proper way” to come out. I’m not going to give you the wikihow version because you can literally go to wikihow and it will give you a complete walk through of what to do if you are questioning. I’m going to attempt to recall what coming out to my best friend was like and maybe give some pointers. Maybe. Because my future-vision senses chaos in the following post.
So, probably a quarter of my lifetime ago (five or six years idk) I remember being at a summer camp and some kids made fun of me because they got it into their heads that I was bi. It was just a terrible experience all around, I was literally screamed at daily for something I didn’t even actually identify as, that is to say, at the time I thought I was straight. Key word being, “thought.”
Anyway, months passed, I kinda forgot about that incident and I lived in denial because I feared the reactions of others and didn’t want to be thought of as some type of monster. I met my best friend. I’ll probably invent some dumb name to refer to her as so you all don’t get lost during story time. Her name will henceforthwardly be, Bird. For no reason.
I hope ya’ll are laughing. I split my spleen or something.
I was a fan of her writing before I met her. Eventually, after being in the same club for a while, we became inseparable. I think we were partners on a type of project and I was emailing her unimportant important crap and I realized I hadn’t actually dealt with what happened with the summer camp. So I had my first vent session through email (super archaic, i know). But I thought I was straight. So I was completely in the Nile about certain facts #fakenews
It wasn’t until three hops, skips, and jumps into the future that we really revisited the subject. Like, I talked about the annoying kids but I never talked about the possibility that I was gay. It was kind of gradual which is a good way to play it (TAKE NOTES: Coming out can be a slow process).
Funny thing is, I’m pretty sure Bird knew before I ever admitted it. I was absolutely obsessed with a different girl (Yay, crappy name picking time! *sticks hand into random man’s hat and pulls out slip of paper* And her name is Bendy Straw. Brought to you by Random Hat Inc. *random man screaming in background*) which is a different subject for a different day. But I always said stuff like, “Gee, Bird, if I could be friends with Bendy Straw, my life would feel so complete!” which is totally, definitely, a paraphrase. I think once I started mentioning how much I JUST wanted to hold Bendy Straw’s hand (I’m as cliche as 1963 Beatles ik) was when it became most evident to me that SOMETHING multicolored and skittle flavored was going on.
FUN FACT: I can’t actually remember how I irl came out to Bird. I just kinda did. It was gradual, like I said. I guess I knew there was little I could do to make her hate me so it just kinda happened. I think that was through Facebook messenger (you really get a feel for how much technology progressed between 2010 and the present thru these recollections). It was still surprising to hear her first reaction to it though. She wasn’t shocked and she was 100% willing to keep it a secret as long as I wanted. Most importantly, our relationship as friends never changed, she never loved me more or less for it.
However, Bird continues to love me less each time I send her 128 GIFs in a row of Kate Mickinnon impersonating Ellen Degeneres thus rendering her phone useless for 5 hours.
