I'm still here.
I work for a school directly now and we've finished a school year.
This was me at one point trying to find an apartment in China:
Tumblr media
I was legit considering living in a hotel because of this. I posted on WeChat explaining the situation and the secondhand embarrassment my local acquaintances experienced moved two in particular to step in and help me find a place to stay.
I didn't want to talk to the school's HR because she was hounding me about why I didnt have a Chinese girlfriend. She asked with her whole chest during the interview if I was changing jobs because of a woman.
Even as a fluent Chinese speaker, going to those housing agencies and watching them call up landlords and explain to them that a foreigner wants to rent, only to overhear the landlord asking "white? or black?" was never not embarrassing.
Everyone was all "dial 123456 and report them!" Tried that. I was all automated prompts which then lead to an app I had to download but then couldn't use because I didn't have a Chinese ID. No surprise, honestly, but was worth the shot I guess? (A lot of institutions are designed on purpose to be exhausting. You can know this in a place like China because they'll tell you straight up: If you wanna complain about is, dial this number. Good luck lol)
It was only luck that the person who reached out to help me was the random gym trainer who added my WeChat after searching for a place to workout literally 2 days prior.
Fast forward to now. School's out. Typical shenanigans: students making accidentally racist microaggressions. One kid commented that "it doesn't look right having a teacher who should be a rapper or basketball player; I don't think you're professional and can't take you seriously." And after the whole apartment malarkey, I could only give him a look, shrug my shoulders, chuckle at his inbred ignorance and keep teaching. Too tired to give the you-probably-haven't-learned-this-about-yourself-yet-but-you're-racist talk. It's 2020something, I'm saving my energy.
I'm just here to save up to leave. That's all. I now have friends in a different country and I'm working to collaberate with their career endeavors more intensively.
I'll be out of here soon enough. Just need to get a few things in order.

I know nobody gives a shit about this in comparison so posting a save file with uncredited builds in it, but reminder of that time @mapanou started calling me out of name and spewing hateful nazi ideology at me out of nowhere just bc i made a lukewarm criticism of a paywaller and I dared to say black people are often criticized more for being angry... but since only one of my parents are black that ain't allowed 😬 some of yall acted like this was okay but I didn't forget it, I notice how some of their friends are acting all betrayed now bc their homie turned out to be a sims content thief but you knew who you were laying down with clearly. You were glad to support an extremely nasty ass person when the vitriol was directed at me, but God forbid someone not credit a build! anyway guess who was struck down and it wasn't me bitch 💀

That aside, since the insufferable cunt had the nerve to mention the One Drop Rule, which has been used as a tool to discriminate against all black people and keep their mixed offspring othered for as many generations as possible, here's some sources on what it actually refers to (and some related articles about the struggles of mixed race people). It's a method of discrimination by white supremacists, not a way for mixed race people that you think are unworthy of speaking to "claim" to be black. If you're lurking, mapanou, i hope you and your friends read them and understand something you should have already at your "very big age".

^ the basic gist for the lazy. and just an added bit. I don't know if mapanou has ever seen me, because I barely know them and certainly didn't share with them, but I have been doxxed plenty and my pics probably shared to them by others and im obviously not white though i am light skinned. im very proud of my dark natural hair, brown eyes, thick lips and big nose that I all got from my father. I have nothing to prove nor hide about who I am. I am black and asian and white and I love every part of what makes me, me. I am mixed race and if you don't believe or like me as I am that's your problem not mine. just wanna clear that up for all the people that may have been confused about it. and for all my followers that are mixed, especially black and asian, I love you and you have a place here. your voices and experiences are valuable and you deserve to be heard. that's all I got to say.

if you used to be smosh fan account and just got back after the announcement then please….do me a favor and watch the content that involves the other cast members. i know its hard to adjust to changes like the channel not just being about ian & anthony anymore, but please do give the squad and even the newer cast members like chanse, angela, etc. a chance. i’m dead serious when i say that the content smosh has made since last year has been the most entertaining and you won’t regret checking a couple videos out from all their channels.

Fellow gentiles as The Terf (JKR)’s Game comes out this month I am gently reminding all of us that we should be thoughtful about centering ourselves and our experiences (eg. trans people) when speaking about this game given that the entire premise basically builds off blood libel and antisemitic tropes.
We should be doing more to care for our Jewish brothers and sisters and ensuring their well being, and that begins with acknowledging that even without the anti-trans agendas she pushes, she has pushed antisemitism within her books for years and though not directly involved, her upcoming game does the same.
Basically, all this to say: boycott the game for her transmisogyny, obviously, but the antisemitism should not be secondary to that, especially given the spike in antisemitic violence right now.

i know this is an unpleasant memory and you dont have to answer ---- how the hell did that racist edit of your mlp art even reach your eyeballs in the first place
someone actually sent it to me to let me know about it (not with bad intentions) - there were actually two edits and the one that came first was a whitewashed edit (i had drawn twilight sparkle as brownskinned in the original piece). i tried to ask people to report the post to take it down, but that didn't work, and the blackface edit came a day-ish after. in the end the website basically removed the options to report the post for the specific racist stuff and i don't think it ever got taken down lol... it's been over a year and it's not as bad to talk about now, but it still pisses me off a bit

I want to be 100% clear that this post about examining your biases applies to everyone who exclusively enforces top/bottom gender roles in fandom (which I specify in the post, I'm not claiming that enjoying one character as a top and the other as a bottom is bad, I'm specifically talking about how this often extends into applying additional gendered roles based on the assignment of top vs. bottom)
Just because you're picking the "unexpected" person to be the bottom/sub/fem/soft/weak doesn't mean you're not reinforcing heteronormative gender roles.
Just because you've examined your racism and realized its wrong to be putting POC in the exclusively dominant role, but do so by putting them in the exclusively submissive role doesn't mean you aren't enforcing heteronormative gender roles (and similarly, just because you're not enforcing heteronormative gender roles doesn't mean that you have fully examined your racist interpretations of different characters, which goes deep enough to be its own post directed at fellow white queers)
Just because you picked the character who experiences explicit homophobia to be the top, but still engage in erasing all of their feminine traits and forcing them into a box that is directly opposed to how their character was written, doesn't mean you're not enforcing heteronormative gender roles!
Its ingrained in us. All of us. Its in me, too. But until you CHOOSE to notice it and actively break away from it, you will continue to be a part of the problem.

Something I’ve noticed about a lot of Rhaenyra stans (that is so aggravating) is they are always talking about they don’t want Rhaenyra to be "whitewashed" but when you bring up the darker things she’s done/will do (calling for her younger brother to be “sharply questioned,” ordering Ser Vaemond’s head to be chopped off and then feeding him to Syrax, never punishing her husband for ordering Blood and Cheese (and I wouldn’t be surprised if in the show they have her order Blood and Cheese), ordering the death of Nettles for having a romantic/sexual relationship with her husband and yet not extending those orders to her husband, and her blatant racism towards Nettles) suddenly Fire & Blood is just a misogynistic book meant to paint Rhaenyra(and Daemon) in a bad light.
I wonder who’s going to tell them they can’t have their cake and eat it too 🫠
Moving the goalposts is their favorite pastime 😗
Tumblr media
One moment Fire & Blood is the most reliable source when it talks about how the realm thought a seven-year-old Rhaenyra was a darling(albeit spoiled) child and how romantic it is that Daemon crept on her at fourteen (cause that’s the evidence they use to support him luving her so very much even though he left the capital when she was a child because he got butthurt over her being made heir, but he realized that he could still be close to the throne if he seduced her and forced his brother to hand her over to him🙃) which is still underage by Westeros standards. The next it’s not to be trusted because the evil men have it out for my Valyrian queen.
I suppose for some it is easier to believe a white woman, who is fine with killing her own flesh and blood, innocent babies(I love Daemon, but a son for a son should’ve meant going after Daeron or Aemond, but they weren’t easy targets), is a complete and total innocent victim 100% of the time😗
I’ve never ever heard of a white woman using her privilege to try and commit a hate crime against a Black woman. Like ever. Especially not a white woman who comes from a racist family who’s own grandmother mistook a Black man for a demon because of his skin tone. It just can’t be true 🙃
She was just stressed. You know how that goes cause we've all wanted to commit racially motivated murder when we are stressed ☺️
They are happy with the show painting her in the best light possible and will even cheer on the show doing away with book canon(see how much they celebrated Laena being “unloved” by Daemon) that they claim to love so much if it makes queenie look good🤷🏽‍♀️

So I made a post some months back. It was my most popular post for a while, not sure why but, it was. But in light of the new chapter I wanted to bring it back up.
Tumblr media
At the time, this post had shippy connotations and still does but, I want to talk about the bigger part of the post. I’m sure we can all agree that the picture that chapter 370 is painting is far more important than any possible canonicity of a fanon pairing. I got a lot of reblogs on this post talking what I put in tags so I’d like to extend my point.
I saw people talking about how this chapter is boring and not important and I felt disappointed… but I realized why they feel like that. Because this part of the story isn’t relatable to everyone. It’s the same reason people call Deku a bad MC. The same reason most of the western audience reduces Uraraka to just a love interest. The reason why people find it hard to empathize with and understand Touya or Bakugou. They can’t relate and are only here for the fight scenes. Which is fine. We’re all products of our environments and experiences so yea it’s okay to not find a certain plot line relatable but to say that it’s boring and “not important to the story” is saying that you’re unable to make out the bigger meaning and you’re kinda invalidating the real people that have actually experienced persecution.
The biggest conflict in mha arguably is the way people of authority treat others based on their looks, quirks, and talent. And we can take Bakugou and Hawks as examples for why mindless praise and ego strokes at such a young age can be just as bad as being looked down upon and bullied. They’re different experiences but both resulted in toxic mindsets about themselves and changed the mindsets of the people around them as well (the hero commission seeing hawks’ talent and training him to be a warrior essentially [like nagant but her experience started much older], bakugous friends and teachers praising him to the point where his ego inflated and causing the people around him, including his parents, to believe that he’s an untouchable force that never and shouldn’t need help [minus deku, which is where their conflict came from]).
The mutant rebellion is just a more obvious way of telling what’s been going on for the entire story. Which goes back to the tag in my original post:
I think the morals of the story is why it’s [mha] is more attractive towards POC, the lgbt community, those that have been looked down upon for being different, or people that have experienced having expectations they couldn’t reach being thrown on their shoulders…
What’s being explained in this chapter isn’t just some plot device. It’s a moral that’s applicable to real life and you saying it’s not important makes you look like a prick. And it’s not just an issue amongst individuals, it’s an issue highly influenced by celebrities and government officials. Making it a systemic and societal issue, just like it’s being portrayed in mha.
tl;dr
If you can’t relate to anything that’s going on or being said in the recent chapter and you don’t like it, shut the hell up and skip the chapter. Let the people who can relate gain a little bit more respect for Horikoshi for even thinking about addressing an issue this blatantly.

I almost gave rtd a mental brownie point for accidently writing martha jones as an amazing character. but then I thought about it for more than 5 minutes and was like "nope, no, never mind its still just the mammy trope."
