im getting so sick of the kinnies debate its literally inescapable
here's a common way of speaking to/about KFF that i see frequently:
KFF: how many kins do you have?
Otherkin: uhh, "kins"?? did i kiss the memo where "kin" was changed into a verb? whats next, suddenly all of the gender identities i have will be my "transes"? get a load of this guy
literally this is so fucking cringe and i hate this type of response and i always will. "this person doesnt know better, im gonna sarcastically play stupid to make fun of them for asking a genuine question!" like who are you helping? you know what this person is trying to ask you. for a community so prideful of critical thinking, it feels hypocritical to pretend to miss someone's very obvious point. hey wait... this sounds familiar...
"but im so tired of kinnies! i dont have the energy to educate them anymore!" ok so dont reply at all then. this type of reply is the opposite of helpful. if a new community did this to me i would ditch them immediately because the publicly ridiculed me. thats not very welcoming and safe if you ask me.
the appropriate response is a gentle correction? if you really want to correct them? just a little "hey, we try not to use kin as a verb here just so you're aware :0) i have 4 kintypes," and move on with the conversation. its literally so fucking easy, and hey guess what, you didnt make them feel small and bullied by you, so they're probably going to stay in the Otherkin community now. or again, alternatively, just dont reply at all if you have nothing kind of helpful to add lol
if youre an Otherkin person really struggling with the idea that our community is unhospitable (and thats why people are leaving, rejecting terms, avoiding participation, etc) please take a look around, because this is exactly why & this type of thing is fairly common i mean im writing this post because i literally just saw this happen with my own eyes. so

witchy tips for witches with depression <3
I've been struggling with depression for some time now and I've been having a lot of issues practicing my craft since the lack of energy and motivation, so I decided to compile a list of simple routine things you can try to add to your daily life to get you back on the craft and maybe make you feel better :]
theres no instant cure to depression but there are ways to make it a little less bad, and little by little get you back on your feet !! these may not work for everyone as I am writing down things that work for me and just simple ways I use to incorporate the craft into my daily life. please please please also seek prefessional help if you're able to !! talk to friends and family, you're loved and cared for !! google depression self help tips for more tips, I know most of them may sound dumb or trivial or useless but it is so worth a shot adhering to them for some time, maybe you will notice an increase in your mood :D
1. veiling
when I go out, I wear a scarf on my head to protect my energy or keep me in a good mood, depending on the days activity. you can wear a scarf around the house or go out with it and putting one on also works for a bad hair day (read: haven't washed hair in a week) ;D
just cleanse the scarf by maybe shaking the unwanted energies out of it or with incense or with whatever you see the best and bless the scarf with your intentions for the day :D
2. cleansing
if you have a hard time taking care of your hygiene ( it's okay I promise, it can be very exhausting :/ ), try getting some baby wipes on your bedside table and when you wake up / before you go to bed, wipe your face, armpits, feet etc. with the wipe and with the intention of cleansing. it's quick and very easy and I promise that it's worth it, you'll feel a lot more fresh afterwards. you can do the same with washing in general ! if you take a shower imagine the bad thoughts and depressive energy go down the drain in a black/gray/brown stream of dark water !! you'll feel a lot more fresh and maybe a bit clear-headed even :)
3. tea magick
while getting your cup of tea / coffee, stir your days intentions into the drink or do this:
stir clockwise thrice to bring positivity, stir counterclockwise to let out negative energy in your next three sighs and then seal the spell to let the sadness repel.
I recommend black tea or white tea or chamomile tea and add some honey / sugar to sweeten the deal !!
4. shadow work
I know that one of the last things you might want to do is dwelve deep into your feelings but it really will be useful in the long run. if you feel yourself getting upset or your mood suddenly dropping, try getting to the bottom of it; what triggered the emotional reaction? take a deep breath, relax into your feelings as they are in that moment and be honest with yourself. observe them without judgment and try to find out where they came from and how to solve the conflict.
here's some prompts and questions you can try asking yourself:
how did you feel ( more accurately than just upset; were you angry, jealous, sad, lonely etc.) ?
is there something you can do right now to solve it ?
how could you handle this situation in a healthy way? eg. try to come up with healthy coping mechanisms.
how can you maybe prevent this in the future?
try the court trial thought challenging technique. if these thoughts or this situation was a court case, which side would win? imagine yourself as the defense attorney. you need to gather 100% foolproof evidence you have siding with the negative thought and then defend it against the undermining counterpart. it's kind of a pros and cons type of list but you adopt the viewpoint of an outside viewer to get a clearer and more realistic view of the situation. this thought process can help you realize that some negative thoughts aren't truthful and help you let them go. you can Google "the court trial cbt" for more on this technique :D !!
5. studying the craft
we're all individuals and we react differently to bad states of mind but what I do often is distract myself by being on my phone and I know ( I hope so, at least ) I'm not alone in this. as a witch, you're always developing and learning new things, was it about learning different kinds of ways to practice your craft or getting to know other practices or maybe reading a guide how to grow your own herbs ! point is, if you're gonna distract yourself, you could try reading ebooks or articles or even tumblr posts about things that interest you !
maybe try making a list of subjects, topics and practices that interest you and set a goal for yourself to read at least about 3 subjects on the list per day !!
6. making pinterest boards / planning
this isnt directly magick but I think it does count as practicing your craft. make mood boards for the next full moon, come up with spells, make pinterest boards about cool things that interest you or maybe start planning for the next sabbath ! just have fun with it, maybe colour coordinate your pin boards or arrange them by season !
7. go out for walks
it is so so so important to try to adhere to some routines. a big part of managing depression is taking care that you get enough sleep, eat enough and do fulfilling, nice and healthy things. go outside and try to look for rocks or crystals from the nature ? or try foraging ! or maybe go for a walk during sunset/sunrise and admire the beautiful sky and clouds ! ANY reason to peep your nose out of the house is a good reason. maybe go meditate to the nearest park ? or try yoga !!
8. interests and passions and things you loved to do
I know that it might be hard to find joy in the things that you used to like doing but you should try to do at least one thing that you used to love doing for 10 minutes every day ! incorporate a little witchcraft into it too if you want to !
draw or paint a sigil and maybe colour it
sing your favourite song with intent that matches the lyrics
try freestyling with any instrument you play and let your intuition guide you with the chords and notes that come out ! you can try also making small melodies that correspond to different intents and use them for cleasing or happiness or protection !!
bake or cook something you've always wanted to try ! look up the ingredients' correspondences and cook with desired intents !
please know that you're not alone !! my dms are always open if you want tips or just someone to talk to, too :) you don't need to do all of these but maybe try taking some inspo and adjust it to your life and surroundings and daily life and come up with ways of your own, it's your craft after all !!

Gender variance and it's link with neurodivergency
Okay so this is it going to be another long one
All quotes will be sourced with a link to the scientific journal I took it from
Okay Tumblr, let's talk gender (I know, your favorite topic) my preface on why this topic matters to me is: I'm autistic ( diagnosed moderate to severe autism) I'm nonbinary trans ( in a way that most non-autistic people don't understand and actually look down on)  and I went to college for gender study ( Mostly for intersex studies but a lot of my research was around non-binary and trans identities) I will be using the term autism as pants when I have experience with however when ADHD is part of the study I will use ND which stands for neurodivergent and yes this is going to be about xenogenders and neopronouns.
autism can affect gender the same way autism can affect literally every part of an identity. a big thing about having autism is the fact that it completely can change how you view personhood and time and object permanence and gender and literally all types of socially constructed ideas. let me also say hear that just because Society creates and enforces an idea does it mean that it doesn't exist to all people it just me that there is no nature law saying that it's real and the “rules” for these ideas can change and delete and create as time and Society evolves and changes.  gender is one of those constructs.
Now I'll take it by you reading this you know what transgender people are  (if you don't understand what a trans person is send me an ask and I'll type you up a pretty little essay lmao,  or Google it but that's a scary thought sense literally any Source or website can come up on Google including biased websites so be careful I guess LOL) anyway to be super basic trans people are anyone who doesn't identify as the gender they were assigned at Birth (yes that includes non-binary people I could do a whole nother essay about that shit how y'all keep spreading trying to separate non-binary people from the trans umbrella)  some people don't like to use the label and that is totally fine by the way.
now autistic people to view the world in a way differently than allistic (neurotypical) ppl do.  we don't take everything people teach us at 100% fact and we tend to question everything and demand proof and evidence for things before we can set it as a fact in our brains. This leads to why a lot of autistic people are atheist (although a lot of religions and this is not bashing on religious people at all I am actually a Jewish convert)  this questioning leads to a lot of social constructs being ignored or not understood At All by a lot of autistic people and personally I think that's a good thing.  allistics take everything their parents and teachers and schools teach them as fact until someone else says something and then they pick which ones to believe. autistic people study and research and learn about a topic before forming an opinion and while this may lead to them studying and believing very biased material and spitting it out as fact it can also lead them to try and Discover it is real by themselves.
because of this autistic people are more question their gender or not fall in a binary way at all as the concept of gender makes no sense to a lot of us. “ if gender is a construct then autistic people who are less aware of social norms are less likely to develop a typical gender identity”
no really look: “ children and teens with autism spectrum disorder ASD or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder ADHD  are much more likely to express a wish to be the opposite sex compared with their typical developing peers” That was posted in 2014. we have been saying this stuff forever but no one wants to listen. the thing is gender variance (being not cisgender or at least questioning it)  has always been closely hand-in-hand with autistic and ADHD people I'm even the doctor who did that study understood right away that it all made sense the whole time: “ Dr. Strang said they were initially surprised to find an overrepresentation of gender variance among children with ADHD. However, they later realized that prior studies have shown increased levels of disruptive behavior and other behavioral problems among young people with gender variance”  SEE YOURE NOT WEIRD YOURE JUST YOU AND YOURE NOT ALONE IN THIS!!
5% autistic people who did the study were trans or questioning. it was also equal between the Sexes fun fact. that may not seem like a lot till you realize that the national average is only .7% that's literally over 700% higher than the national average. That's so many! and that's just in America.
in Holland there was a study in 2010 “ nearly 8% of the more than 200 Children and adolescents referred to a clinic for gender dysphoria also came up positive on a assessment for ASD” they weren't even testing for ADHD so the numbers could be even higher!
now I want to talk about a  certain section of the trans umbrella that a lot of autistic people fall under called the non-binary umbrella. non-binary means anything that isn't just male or just female. it is not one third gender and non-binary doesn't mean that you don't have a gender. just clearing that up since cis people keep spreading that. non-binary is an umbrella term for any of the infinite genders you could use or create. now this is where I'm going to lose a bunch of you and that's okay because you don't have to understand our brains or emotions To respect us as real people. not many allistics can understand how we see and think and relate to things and that's okay you don't have to understand everything but just reading about this could be so much closer to respecting us for Who We Are from you've ever been and that's better than being against us just for existing.
now you might have heard of my Mutual Lars who was harassed  by transmeds for using the term Autigender (I was going to link them but if it gets traction I don't want them to get any hate)  since a lot of people roll their eyes at that  and treated them disgustingly for using a term that 100% applied correctly.  Autigender  is described as " a neurogender which can only be understood in the context of being autistic or when one's autism greatly affects one's gender or how one experiences gender. Autigender is not autism as a gender, but rather is a gender that is so heavily influenced by autism that one's autism and one's experience of gender cannot be unlinked.” Now tell me that doesn't sound a lot like this entire essay I've been working on with full sources…..
xenogenders and neopronouns are a big argument point on whether or not people “believe” in non binary genders but a big part of those genders is that they originated from ND communities and are ways that we can try to describe what gender means us in a way that cis or even allistic trans people just can't comprehend or ever understand. Same with MOGAI genders or sexualities. A lot of these are created as a way to somehow describe an indescribable relationship with gender that is so personal you really cant explain it to anyone who isnt literally the same as you.
Even in studies done with trans autistic people a large amount of them dont even fall on a yes or no of having a gender at all and fall in some weird inbetween where you KINDA have a gender but its not a gender in the sense that others say it is but its also too much of a gender so say youre agender. And this is the kind of stuff that confuses allistic trans people and makes them think nonbinary genders are making stuff up for attention, which isnt true at all we just cant explain what it feels like to BE a trans autistic person to anyone who doesnt ALREADY know how it feels.
In this study out of the ppl questioned almost HALF of the autistic trans individuals had a “Sense of identity revolving around interests” meaning their gender and identity was more based off what they liked rather than boy or girl. That makes ppl with stuff like vampgender or pupgender make a lot more sense now doesnt it? We see that even in the study: “My sense of identity is fluid, just as my sense of gender is fluid […] The only constant identity that runs through my life as a thread is ‘dancer.’ This is more important to me than gender, name or any other identifying features… even more important than mother. I wouldn't admit that in the NT world as when I have, I have been corrected (after all Mother is supposed to be my primary identification, right?!) but I feel that I can admit that here. (Taylor)” and an agreement from another saying “Mine is Artist. Thank you, Taylor. (Jessie)” now dont you think if they grew up with terms like artistgender or dancergender they would just YOINK those up right away????
In fact “An absence of a sense of gender or being unsure of how their gender should “feel” was another common report” because as ive said before in this post AUTISTIC PEOPLE DONT SEE GENDER THE WAY ALLISTIC PEOPLE SEE IT. therefore we wont use the same terms or have the same identities nor could we explain it to anyone who doesnt already understand or question the same way! Participants even offered up quotes such as “As a child and even now, I don't ‘feel’ like a gender, I feel like myself and for the most part I am constantly trying to figure out what that means for me (Betty)” and also “I don't feel like a particular gender I'm not even sure what a gender should feel like (Helen)”
Now i know this isnt going to change everyones minds on this stuff but i can only hope that it at least helped people feel like theyre not broken and not alone in their feelings about this. You dont have to follow allistic rules. You dont have to stop searching inside for who you really wanna be. And you dont have to pick or choose terms forever because just as you grow and evolve so may your terms. Its okay to not know what or who you are and its okay to identify as nonhuman things or as your interests because what you love and what you do is a big part of who you are and shapes you everyday. Its not a bad thing! Just please everyone, treat ppl with respect and if you dont understand something that doesnt make it bad or wrong it just means its not for you. And thats okay.

for the last couple of days ive been riled up as fuck by some absolutely rancid takes about how cql is a better narrative than mdzs. nothing new, just the usual trash about mxtx’s writing being homophobic for - spins roulette wheel of contrived reasons. honestly, the antis cycle through some truly astonishing leaps of logic to suit their biases and will say pretty much anything to prove their non existent points.
anywho, i got mad, and basically did the virtual equivalent of snapping at someone, cause they were regurgitating the same asinine takes that have been discussed and explained to death by multiple blogs. i didnt mean for it to be a personal attack on any specific blog, it was just the post right at the top of my dash on a particularly bad day.
i dont mean to guilt anyone or be rude about anyone’s personal preferences for a certain adaptation or medium. that is not my intent at all. if you like cql over mdzs, good for you. enjoy yourself and indulge in fandom in whatever way brings you joy without hurting other people!
the thing that really gets my goat (and what my earlier comment was actually about) is people specifically coming into the tags for the novel and spreading shit all over the space for fans of the novel with biased lies and misinformation about the canon, to sound morally superior.
if you are of the earlier type of blogger, please continue and i wish you a very pleasant day! but, if you’re the second type of blogger, i hope you step on multiple legos for the reasons stated under the cut, cause this shit is about to be long.
there are many very valid reasons that you could legitimately dislike the novel or critique it for. but, somehow cql only people never bring up any actual literary analysis or critique apart from the much reused and recycled ‘homophobic stereotypes’, ‘sexual deviancy’, and *checks smudged handwriting on hand* ‘for using narrative devices, genre tropes and generally having plot that isnt paper thin and has nuance’.
this isnt a particularly new fandom, tho i did come into it later than most. so, i really thought that the fandom would be much more settled and all of the early discourse about misunderstanding the source material that new fandoms have, would have been put to rest. i couldnt have been more wrong unfortunately.
digging even very shallowly into the tags for the novel throws up so much extra context, meta, clarification and discussion lovingly and painstakingly written and compiled by blogs and chinese fans, about the same exact topics that cql only people like to bandy about. but, it also brings up tons of muck that castigates mxtx’s work as ‘homophobic’ and ‘glorifying sexual violence’ and all manner of other unsavoury accusations that have little to no textual evidence to back it up except for people’s bad faith attempts to take scenes and themes out of context, from the canon and tar them all with the brush of good and bad moral judgement with zero nuance.
i seem to have hit a few nerves by replying to that one blog. i was admittedly short with them and could have been nicer about the way i phrased things. but honestly, i dont really care anymore about being nice. people seem to be far ruder about and to people who care about the novel and constantly have talked over people from the community to misunderstand and vilify the author and the book. so, no i dont particularly care if i came off as rude.
from posts that were again made in the novel tag. someone seems to be questioning why i havent addressed the fact that the novel glorifies sexual violence and feeds into homophobic stereotypes, because apparently fans of a book thats just a little short of the size of the lord of the rings trilogy even without your so called dubious sexy bits, are the ones who cant read 🙄
there have been so many people who have addressed the sex scenes and your so called glorification of sexual violence, with great nuance and patience. but yall dont seem to like reading. so i’ll make it simple. ITS NOT FUCKING HOMOPHOBIC OR GLORIFYING SEXUAL VIOLENCE. TAKE A MEDIA STUDIES CLASS AND LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP SOME READING COMPREHENSION. for anyone who does care to know more, ill reblog the relevant posts right after.
ive been meaning to reread the novel anyway cause i dont think a novel of that size and density can be fully grasped with all its nuance(something cql only people wouldnt know if it hit them in the face) in the first read where you’re caught up in the plot. ‘cause the roughly 400,000 words are mainly a horror/mystery novel with a romance woven into it with a fairly deft hand.
tldr: im genuinely sorry that so many people seem to miss the very heavily bolded themes of political intrigue and the fickleness of morality that inform and strengthen the romance in the novel, instead choosing to focus on a paltry couple of chapters that arent even in the main book. im sorry that they can read something in such bad faith that a canonical gay couple getting married and living happily together in the goddam text is considered homophobic; while a product of heavy censorship created by an industry that short changes actual queer communities, whilst still baiting them for their money is considered groundbreaking gay content. if you think anyone is reading mdzs to “wank off” to gay people. you’ve either very clearly not read the book, or clearly dont know how actual erotica works.

I think I finally figured out what bothers me about Firebringer.
Admittedly there's a lot that bothers me about Firebringer, but I'll focus on the one thing that bothered me for the most and longest, and finally figured out today.
Now... this isn't a hate post or rant or anything. I know Starkid worked hard on Firebringer and did their very best, I acknowledge that and respect it,,, but there's problems in Firebringer I don't want to ignore and want to talk about.
Controversial topic... Jemilla and Zazzalil's relationship. Yeah, I know. Feel free to unfollow or scroll past but I really do need to get this off my chest.
There's the half where people absolutely love the ship and think it's amazing, and then the other half where they aren't a fan of it..... and I'm on that side. Jemilla and Zazzalil's relationship always had rubbed me the wrong way, and I never knew why until now.
There' no development. I know I know, "They're cavemen, they don't care about development in relationships!1!1" You're probably right, maybe cavemen only had sex and had no romantic feelings. I wouldn't know, I dont know if there's any evidence or proof to say so.
But Starkid never goes for realism or 100% accuracy. Like, why stop there? Why draw the line at that? I wouldn't care that there was no development if there never was any in the musical... But there is.
I loooove Grunt and Emberly, adored them. They're sweet dumbasses, I fucking love that shit, they're the physical embodiment of "pure of heart, dumb of ass." They're kind to each other and genuinely seem in love,,, but it bothers me that they get development.
Why. They aren' the main characters, the story isnt about them. Why do we get to see THEM start a relationship and see it grow. We get two songs about them and, I don't know, like 20, 40 minutes of them on screen together fleshing it out? Why couldn't that go to Jemilla and Zazzalil?? Why didn't we get to see them develop the same way Grunt and Emberly did? Yeah, we get a song, but I never got the same feeling or vibes as J did with Just a Taste or Paint Me.
Maybe its just me. Maybe I completely miss the romantic tone and vibe in the one song they have to set their relationship up. It's possible, but why not make it clearer? It's totallt possible I'm just stupid, but reading the lyrics and listening to the song I don't get the vibe. I don't get the feeling that it's THAT song. Everytime I watch that moment, I never get the feeling I did like I did for Just a Taste/Paint Me.
It just makes me think of two people, who once disliked each other, hell even dispised each other, had to overcome it and work as a team to save the people they love, their village, qnd get to understand and even appreciate other. Like, I thought this was the moment they were finally going to become friends and respect each other and come to care for each other!!
I thought that scene would of played out like Jemilla seeing how being risky and trying something new can actually be good and even necassary to do things and advane, and Zazzalil begrudely respects and even thinks it's cool to think and plan, and being rational and level headed. But that never happened, and then they ended up together, very randomly???? I never expected it, I never saw it coming. I was thrown in for loop, exactly like how jarred I was with the whole Chorn reveal.
Their relationship felt like it was added in afterwards. Like it wasn't given the same amount of time and work like other parts were. We get to see the other characters grown and change and development in their own ways, but we never saw that in their relationship. We get to see in Grunt and Emberly, but they weren't the focus of the show. They were just a side plot until it got intertwine with the main plot. Which is another thing that bothers me, the plot. It's messy, (not that it's always a bad thing, all Starkid shows are a little messy, like TTO for example), but it's kinda too messy?
Like Chorn's reveal with no set up or without a single clue, Molag constantly breaking the fourth wall to speak with the audience, the jokes in the middle of something going on that aren't always progressive or moving the plot along, just there for laughs. Grunt and Emberly's whole love story. Like, why was it even in the show? Was it to add more time, more script, was the show too empty, was ot just to break up the main story? Take Grunt out and the show would of gone exactly the same, this time Snarl would take a villager and not an outsider. Like I said I absolutely adore Grunt and his relationship with Emberly, but the show could of gone on without it and nothing would of really changed. Jemilla and Zazzalil could of had that time.
I guess it's disappointing, especially to me, that Starkid's first show that had two main characters that were WLW didn't get to properly develop it's relationship, while the straight relationship does.
I'll probably edit this properly in the morning, but yeah that's pretty much it. Tell me what you think. Yell at me, unfollow, agree, whatever. Good night,, love y'all 💕

like when you decide to retire from tumblr but they confuse you with a pubert of 13:
https://defendor-of-freedom.tumblr.com/tagged/COME-HERE-TO-UNDERSTAND
Tumblr media
recently (and to nobody surprise) they have infammed me again, I mean, it's not that I don't deserve it, but at least let me go to the bathroom for 2 minutes before calling me Nazi again!
in this case it was for the user. @ / bonnieschmonnie
link: https://bonnieschmonnie.tumblr.com/
So, let's see what he has to say about me.
image 1:
Tumblr media
... excuse me, but who the  are @ / nest-of-the-artist and @ / just-another-undertale-blog?
I know I said I had multi-accounts for each topic, but this is just ridiculous. because a)
it isnt nest-of-the-artist   is eden-of-the-wise. the next one uses the zoom to be able to read better (and no, i dont edit the post, dont be so hardhead)
op: https://defendor-of-freedom.tumblr.com/post/188002673033/story-time-and-important-changes
Tumblr media
b) Let's see, I know that respect is not your thing, but do you think im THAT silly? would you really believe that I would make a blog that was only about undertale after having openly said what I would do? Look, I'm going to tell you a secret, but dont tell anyone because it's secret my undertale blog is literally a blog like any other and I camouflage my undertale content with content from other fandoms, so, in this way, the posts that had me watched would be looking for a blog of only undertale and not a random blog.
pedophilia:
Listen kids, want to f*ck childrens is bad, don't do it.
Now seriously, I will say what I think of pedophilia.
If you are a pedophile, let me tell you, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM IN YOUR HEAD, wanting to f*ck a child is immoral, insane and totally repudiable, there is no coherent reason to justify pedophilia, so please, if you are a pedophile, go To the psychologist, seek help, you are not well, you are not a mentally healthy person. you're screwed.
Now, for others, DONT USE VIOLENCE AGAINST PEDOFILES, the pedophiles: Do they deserve jail (if they have committed the crime)? HELL YEAH! do they deserve to be locked in the asylum? HELL YEAH! Do you have to hit them with baseball bats? NO If a pederesta (a person who is sexually attracted to children but who has not yet committed the crime of pedophilia) sees an angry comunnity leaving a guy hospitalized for having photos of naked children, do you want to know what that pederesta will do? that pederesta will be scared and try to suppress what he feels, instead of seeking professional help. and the long wing will become a pressure cooker ready to explode at any time.
and now, about me: If my goal is to have pictures of minors for sexual purposes: there is google, you know? That very little known search engine? Maybe you've heard of him.
and if what I want is directly live action (for say it in some way): Where I live there is something called "schools" (maybe you could go to one), and in case you don't know, they are FULL of children. many children.
whatss easier? Contact minors on tumblr so i can get photos of them for sexual purposes or (even more improbably) to find us in real life? or go to google to the nearest school? Decisions, decisions.
this in the case that I like minors, but, being honest, the truth is that I consider it too disgusting. so no thanks.
next point:
Tumblr media
I consider that your skin color, sexuality, gender or social class are not essential factors when judging your moral.
Tumblr media
"No, you want the freedom of the people, what a facist person"
the Muslim religion is indifferent to me, isnt better or worse than other religions in the past, the truth is that its cultural and scientific contributions are undeniable, but its marked machism makes it somewhat unattractive to me. if you are muslim, but you arent machist or sexist, then good for you and my respects.
yep, I plead guilty to harassing the most readical sectors of tumblr, but my explanation is here:
https://defendor-of-freedom.tumblr.com/tagged/COME-HERE-TO-UNDERSTAND
nazis:
they are violent zero scientific evidence to support theyr points they are assholes
no, I don't like the Nazis, but that doesn't justify killing them, we don't live in the 14th century, there are prisons, you know?
If you have a penis but you feel like a woman, good for you, if you have a vagina and you feel like a man, good for you. live and let the rest live as they please.
Tumblr media
thats just-another-undertale-blog, and again, i dont know that person
I won't even bother to see what the hell they were arguing about
Tumblr media
kill people is bad, next point:
Tumblr media
I think they fight for the wrong reasons at the wrong time. Before discussing whether a certain artist sexualized a character or not, we should first strive to ensure a better world (you know, Chile, North Korea, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, etc.) Then we will have time to discuss about draws and fiction.
again,
the Muslim religion is indifferent to me, isnt better or worse than other religions in the past, the truth is that its cultural and scientific contributions are undeniable, but its marked machism makes it somewhat unattractive to me. if you are muslim, but you arent machist or sexist, then good for you and my respects.
again,
If you have a penis but you feel like a woman, good for you, if you have a vagina and you feel like a man, good for you. live and let the rest live as they please.
Tumblr media
again, eden-of-the-wise. no nest-of-the-artist. No idea who the hell happened to call his blog like that.
I don't have enemies, I know about extremist people, but I don't consider them as enemies, but as mere political rivals. and I emphasize, the idea is to break the glass bells of the most radical sectors, such as: Nazis, KKK, who support the Chinese regime.
Tumblr media
safe from what? of the opposite opinions? good luck with that.
Do you know what you do with all this? you lessen the impact of the true enemy every time you call a Nazi to someone who doesn't think like you, you reduce the image of threat people have of them the same with transphobia, Islamophobia, racism, etc. people, person, HUMAN BEINGS, of flesh and blood like you or me, ARE BEING KILLED, and you go and take their movement as an insult, YOU ARE NOT DIFFERENT FROM THE CHILDREN OF 8 YEARS THAT CALL ¨WHORE¨ TO ANYONE WITHOUT KNOWING THE CULTURAL CONTEXT AND WEIGHT OF THAT WORD. stop stealing the fight of others, stop taking such a threat as an insult I DON'T CARE IF YOU DO NOT RESPECT ME, BUT AT LEAST RESPECT THE FIGHT OF OTHERS, RESPECT THE TRANS, THE MUSLIMS AND ALL THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS.
god, what horrible world.

reading hamlet for the first time (act 5: the finale)
masterlist
none of you told me it was going to be this painful . none of you.
a5s1
“Ophelia’s dead.” “Enter CLOWNS!”
Like im sure this has a different meaning in EMA but im gonna make fun of it because it’s fucking hilarious. (future (present? (now past once more (?))) antares coming back to say i did look at nfs and yeah theyre gravediggers)
“First Clown: What is he that builds stronger than either the mason, the shipwright, or the carpenter? Second Clown: The gallows-maker; for that frame outlives a thousand tenants.” damn not even just this one quote but these are some depressing clowns
hamlet and horatio!
okay there’s something about all of hamlet’s skull talk that makes me uneasy. like, not even the topic, just something in the words and how earnestly and (pardon my pun) gravely hamlet’s speaking about this. and it’s almost a mournful tune, too. it’s a huge difference from his “we’ll all be eaten by the same worms” speech to the point that it’s almost haunting.
“HAMLET: I will speak to this fellow.” C O N F R O N T
“HAMLET: I think it be thine, indeed; for thou liest in't.” (incomprehensible scribbling)
HAMLET, NOT IN ENGLAND: oh yeah lol he was sent to england huh u know why lmao
wait. did the. did the pirate situation get resolved. before act V.
I mean i think hamlet mentioned something about three years but the pirates are so fucking glossed over like what the fuck
“First Clown: 'Twill, a not be seen in him there; there the men are as mad as he.” HOLY SHIT ROAST THEM JFC
“HAMLET: Let me see. (Takes the skull)” THIS IS THE SKULL SCENE! I fucking KNEW it was bullshit that holding the skull was in the to be/not to be speech. I saw it being presented as such like once or twice while reading and I KNEW IT
hm okay so hamlet picks up this guys skull, of someone he used to know, and sure maybe i could ignore the “those lips i have kissed” but then he goes on to mention alexander the great and i mean come on
but jesus like i feel like im not doing justice to the stuff hamlet’s saying. just, the gravity of it all. Its kinda hitting home a bit hard bc like ive had a crippling fear of what happens after death and being forgotten etc since i was like in fourth grade and this is @ing that phobia
like, with that julius ceasar thing. “O that that earth which kept the world in awe / should patch a wall to expel the winter flaw,” it’s so strange. like, every fucking human who has lived, whether they be emperors, murderers, inventors, peasants, or philanthropists- as long as they weren’t blind, they’ve all looked at the same sky. like. It doesnt matter what the fuck you did or didn’t. It’s wild.
“First Priest: No more be done: We should profane the service of the dead To sing a requiem and such rest to her As to peace-parted souls.” hey i get that there are cultural taboos around suicide but like this guy’s a dick it isnt even clear if it was suicide, like, she was so fucking crazy she might not have even known she was, y’know, in a lake or w/e
laertes, dude, my guy. maybe jumping into a grave is cosmic foreshadowing for something you don’t want to happen to you. js.
“HAMLET: [Advancing] What is he whose grief Bears such an emphasis? whose phrase of sorrow Conjures the wandering stars, and makes them stand Like wonder-wounded hearers? This is I, Hamlet the Dane. (Leaps into the grave)” hamlet is NOT one to be out-extra’d (posting-antares here to say, wait, ‘whose phrase of sorrow conjures the stars? is this my aesthetic-speeches-summon-ghosts theory? probably not, but i havent mentioned it for a while)
“LAERTES: The devil take thy soul! (Grappling with him)” IN A FUCKING GRAVE. THEY ARE FIGHTING. IN A GRAVE.
all because hamlet doesn’t want to be out-extra’d. my god.
“QUEEN GERTRUDE: This is mere madness: And thus awhile the fit will work on him; Anon, as patient as the female dove, When that her golden couplets are disclosed, His silence will sit drooping.” Ah yes gertie just talk about the distraught and angry madman as if he isn’t there. that’ll diffuse the situation.
You know what? We still haven’t discussed the pirates.
a5s2
“HAMLET: So much for this, sir: now shall you see the other; You do remember all the circumstance?” If this isn’t gonna be about the pirates im gonna. scream.
“HAMLET: My fears forgetting manners, to unseal Their grand commission; where I found, Horatio,-- O royal knavery!--an exact command, Larded with many several sorts of reasons Importing Denmark's health and England's too, With, ho! such bugs and goblins in my life, That, on the supervise, no leisure bated, No, not to stay the grinding of the axe, My head should be struck off.” god, though. imagine that. being exiled to another country by the person who killed your father, only to find out that they were going to have you killed, anyways. that’s fucking terrifying. jesus christ.
Damn this idea that pretty handwriting is ~beneath~ nobles confuses me so fucking much. I got called haughty once just because my main handwriting is cursive. I mean, they were right, but their evidence was circumstantial at best.
“HAMLET: That, on the view and knowing of these contents, Without debatement further, more or less, He should the bearers put to sudden death, Not shriving-time allow'd.” Hamlet’s Revenge.
but also, what the fuck, dude. two wrongs dont make a right.
damn i kinda lost myself while reading but it really doesn’t sound like hamlet’s insane anymore. Like he’s… tempered himself. he doesn’t feel insane, just solemn.
“OSRIC: Your lordship is right welcome back to Denmark. HAMLET: I humbly thank you, sir. Dost know this water-fly?” goddamn ROAST HIM HAMLET (also what a fucking mood)
Osric put on your fucking ha--
The wind is
The wind is northerly
“HAMLET: No, believe me, 'tis very cold; the wind is northerly.” I remember someone saying that this is important
Okay here: “HAMLET: I am but mad north-north-west: when the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw.”
oh no
Osric just wear ur fucking hat u doof
“OSRIC: Exceedingly, my lord; it is very sultry,--as 'twere,--I cannot tell how. But, my lord, his majesty bade me signify to you that he has laid a great wager on your head: sir, this is the matter,-- HAMLET: I beseech you, remember-- (HAMLET moves him to put on his hat)” excuse me a WAGER
but alas all hamlet cares about is osric’s fucking hat
“HAMLET: What's his weapon? OSRIC: Rapier and dagger. HAMLET: That's two of his weapons: but, well.” hamlet u sarcastic little shit i love you
I mean so is horatio. I love him too.
This stuff with the competition is. not gonna end well. not at well.
“HAMLET: I do not think so: since he went into France, I have been in continual practise: I shall win at the odds. But thou wouldst not think how ill all's here about my heart: but it is no matter.”
hamlet no. listen to your heart or whatever. jesus christ don’t do it.
“HORATIO: Nay, good my lord,--” HAMLET LISTEN TO HORATIO
Ohhh hamlet
okay reading what laertes said, you know what? i’m giving laertes one last chance. please do not prove me a fool, laertes.
everything is giving me mad anxiety. e v e r y t h i n g.
claud’s speech is insanely sketchy
“KING CLAUDIUS: [Aside] It is the poison'd cup: it is too late.” One, so that’s why it was sketchy. Two, the POISONED CUP?
IT’S TOO LATE?
Gertie’s. Dead.
Shit, shit, shit
“LAERTES: [Aside] And yet 'tis almost 'gainst my conscience.” YES! SO PLEASE! STOP FIGHTING!
“LAERTES wounds HAMLET; then in scuffling, they change rapiers, and HAMLET wounds LAERTES.” Oh no oh no oh jeez eheu they’re hurting each other, shit, fuck,
“LAERTES: ...woodcock…”
“KING CLAUDIUS: She swounds to see them bleed. QUEEN GERTRUDE: No, no, the drink, the drink,--O my dear Hamlet,-- The drink, the drink! I am poison'd. (Dies)” one, i love how claud is desperatley trying to stick to the plan, its almost adorable in a childish sort of way. two, oh god. ohhh god. gertie.
Oh no.
this is the bloodbath. THIS IS THE BLOODBATH.
BODY COUNT: 1
“HAMLET: The point!--envenom'd too! Then, venom, to thy work. (Stabs KING CLAUDIUS)” ...
BODY COUNT: 2
wait and hamlet’s on death row, as with laertes. Oh no.
“LAERTES: He is justly served; It is a poison temper'd by himself. Exchange forgiveness with me, noble Hamlet: Mine and my father's death come not upon thee, Nor thine on me. (Dies)’ oh my god already??? I haven’t even really accepted king claud’s death?? jesus christ??
My friend just sorta nudged me and asked if i was alright and i. I’m not. i’m in shock. goddamn. what?
BODY COUNT: 3
goodness thats three in like less than thirty seconds JESUS CHRIST
“HAMLET: Heaven make thee free of it! I follow thee.I am dead, Horatio.” that’s chilling. just, the poignancy. that’s so fucking spectral. i’m not okay.
“HORATIO: Never believe it: I am more an antique Roman than a Dane: Here's yet some liquor left.” No no no on no nononon NO NO oh my god are you going to-
“HAMLET: As thou'rt a man, Give me the cup: let go; by heaven, I'll have't. … If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart Absent thee from felicity awhile, And in this harsh world draw thy breath in pain, To tell my story.” hey i’m crying in study hall. i’m actually crying. what the fuck. I don’t cry unless i’m thinking about that one pair of 18th century shoes with the really good photo quality (transcribing-antares here. I fucking love those shoes. I’m looking at them right now and they’re so fucking beautiful. they look how velvet feels, which is odd, bc they're apparently silk. I don’t care they’re just so fucking lovely)
F O R T I N B R A S?
“HAMLET: O, I die, Horatio; The potent poison quite o'er-crows my spirit.” I’ve identified my emotion. Dread. pure, unadulterated Dread.
for all of you that’ve listened to the penumbra podcast: do you remember the concierge, right before final resting place, saying “you do realize you can just like, leave, and everything will be hunky dory and you won’t have to deal with the emotional consequences this episode will bring you” because i’m seriously considering doing that right now.
“HAMLET: The rest is silence. (Dies)” shit. (posting-antares here to say that i forgot to do the body count but honestly im crying while formating because of this goddamn fucking 400 year old play)
“HORATIO: Now cracks a noble heart. Good night sweet prince…” oh god. horatio.
“Good night sweet prince…”
(yet again tis transcribing-antares here to say that im fucking sobbing right now, the shoes are no match for this, and ‘goodnight sweet prince’ is actually never going to leave my head.) (editing-antares here to say im fucking crying again god fucking damn it) (posting-antares back again saying that this fucking line. this line. my god.)
“HORATIO: What is it ye would see? If aught of woe or wonder, cease your search.” oh, horatio. god. that isn’t something said without tears staining your skin and a bitter tone hard-won, not that its possession is a victory.
oh my god. this can’t. no. this can’t end like this. What. no. people must have rioted. No. no!!
i typically hate it but i would GLADLY accept a deus ex machina right about now!!
okay my friend just took my phone away from me and shut it off because i kept on trying to scroll past the end
jesus christ
okay so i’m not going to be okay for like, several eternities, so im going to play the sims until i. until i die, probably. my god.

The Problem Isnt Just Trump. Its Our Ignorant Electorate.
For many of us, mornings have taken on a certain nauseating sameness. We roll out from beneath the blankets and, before the scent of coffee has reached our nostrils, we are checking the news feeds for the latest semi-literate tweet coughed up by the ranting, traitorous squatter occupying the Oval Office.
The rest of the day is spent in a kind of horrified suspension, holding our breath, waiting for whatever outrage will inevitably belch forth from the White Houseonce a bastion of seriousness and decorum, now ground zero for the demise of western democracy. How many lies will Trump spew today? Which dictators will he suck up to? Will he smear a Gold Star family? Attack a woman who dares to call out his smarmy predations? Unveil a puerile, racist nickname for a Senator or member of his own cabinet?
As much as we loathe it, however sickening it might have become, every day seems all about him, a former game show host and real estate failure, a hawker of rot-gut vodka and bullshit degrees from a fraudulent University who once styled himself as the Donald. The cable news shows lead with his most recent flatulence, the op-ed pages brim with intimations of doom, late night comedians are having a field day.
He is the president and, thus, bears watching. But we would be mistaken to think that he is truly the center of our universe, a man with a plan, commanding the heights, directing the action.
Virulent as he may be, Donald J. Trump is a symptom not the disease. Without us, he would amount to nothing more than what he had always been before the bizzaro presidential election of 2016: a foppish narcissist desperate for any measure of affirmation; a joke; a nothing. He did not create his voters. They have been there all along, seething with sometimes justifiable anger and suffering their various insecurities. They created and enabled Trump. And make no mistake, in all their vulnerable humanity, they are us: Gullible, compliant, distracted, marinating in irony.
At root, we the people are the problem.
We are understandably reluctant to impugn the intelligence and integrity of our fellow citizens. It is arrogant, uncivil, bad form. Who are we, any of us, to hold ourselves superior? When Hillary Clinton referred to some Trump supporters as deplorables, she was roundly castigated on all sides. How dare she? Yet it is an uncomfortable reality that anywhere from a fifth to a third of our electorate can be fairly (if gently) described as low-information voters. If the results of numerous polls and questionnaires are to be trusted, they know very little about the world they inhabit and what they do know is often woefully incorrect.
Surveys conducted every two years by the National Science Foundation consistently demonstrate that slightly more than half of Americans reject the settled science concerning human evolution. They are not unaware that virtually all credible scientists accept the overwhelming evidence that we evolved from earlier species. They simply choose not to accept that consensus because it doesnt comport with their deeply held beliefs. Many also embrace the absurd notion that the earth is only six thousand years old. Astonishingly, in the early 21st century, around a quarter of our citizenry seems unaware that said earth revolves around the sun.
It is a mistake to regard concern about such ignorance as effete snobbery or elitist condescension. While misapprehensions about basic astronomy, earth science and biology may have little impact on these folks daily lives, does anyone actually believe that similarly uninformed views arent likely to affect their grasp of policies regarding, say, climate change? Income inequality? Gun violence? Immigration?
Profound knowledge gaps like the aforementioned reveal an inability to think critically and leave a person vulnerable to all manner of chicanery. We are all ignorant about many things. Dont get me started on my dismal grasp of mathematics! But the hallmark of a sound education is not glorying in what you think you know, but, instead, appreciating the vastness of what you dont know.
If ignorance is the key that opens the door for charlatans like Trump, improved education, whether in school or in the public square, would seem to provide an obvious solution. But here we confront the perverse Dunning-Kruger Effect identified by psychologistsessentially, the less we know, the more certain we become of our superior knowledge. We have also discovered that exposure to facts and evidence does not always have the expected impact. Many people, when confronted by irrefutable proof that some core belief is incorrect, dont change their minds but dig in their heels. What feels right to them must be right and no amount logic and reasoning will dissuade them. Emotion trumps evidence.
Not too long ago, I fell into conversation with a woman aboard an airplane. Our chat somehow turned to health care. She offered the opinion that people who couldnt afford health insurance didnt deserve medical services. Why should she pay for someones care when they were obviously too lazy to earn their own money?
Because Im my own kind of fool, I rose to the bait. Did that mean they should be allowed to die in the street? I wondered. Well, no, she said. That would be inhumane. They could always go to an emergency room. So she was willing to pay for their care, I observed, but only in the least efficient, most expensive manner. This gave her momentary pause, but she quickly regrouped, simply repeating her prior assertion: Why should she pay? I didnt ask who she planned to vote for in the then-upcoming presidential election, but given that she had also voiced the opinion that women were, by virtue of their gender, unqualified to be news anchors, Im guessing it wasnt Hillary Clinton or Jill Stein.
She is hardly the worst example of an unthinking voter. Bill Maher once invited onto his show former GM Executive Bob Lutz. One supposes that such a fellow has benefited from an adequate education and that hes open to reason. Yet, when the subject of climate change arose, Lutz denied it was happening. A bunch of nonsense as far as he was concerned.
As it happened, Maher had also invited Neil deGrasse Tyson, an astrophysicist, educator and Director of the Hayden Planetarium. Tyson patiently explained why Lutz was misinformed. The planet was warming. Humans were largely to blame. This is how we know.
You might expect an educated person to respond by at least engaging on the topic. Tyson was, after all, vastly more knowledgeable on the subject at hand. Had their roles been reversed, with the topic being cars, I have no doubt he would have deferred to the automaker, asking questions, trying to improve the state of his own knowledge. Not Lutz. You could see him shutting down before Tyson had even warmed to the topic (no pun intended). As Upton Sinclair famously put it, Its hard to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on him not understanding it.
youtube
Anyone who has watched the focus groups of Trump voters has seen this sorry dynamic played out again and again. Everything, no matter how tawdry or malicious, is excused or minimized. You get the feeling these folks would accept the sexual molestation of teenage girls as a trade-off for Neil Gorsuch. In fact, many did in supporting Roy Moore.
Welcome to the Post-Truth Era.
Much has been written about the impact social media and the internet in general have had on how people receive and absorb information. By now, we are all familiar with bots, trolls, phony scandals and the tendency of folks to hunker down in their own info-silos. The old adage that a lie is halfway round the world before the truth gets its socks on has never been more salient.
Consider the recent attacks on one of the young Parkland shooting survivors. A teenager who had just witnessed classmates being gunned down at his own school quickly discovered that speaking up for common-sense gun regulation resulted in vicious trolling and the viral lie that he was a paid crisis actor. This was similar to what befell the grieving families of the small children murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. Imagine waking one morning in a state of searing grief over the violent death of your baby to discover that some odious prankster like Alex Jones is telling his gullible audience that the whole tragic incident was staged, that your child was actually a paid performer doused in artificial gore and posed in a gruesome tableaux of death.
That Jones and his ilk have not been thoroughly shamed and driven from the public sphere says a lot about our growing tolerance for vile nonsense.
Trump did not invent Fake News. The Big Lie has been the stock in trade of con men and tyrants since time immemorial. But he understands its value. Alternative facts as his lickspittle factotum, Kellyanne Conway infamously put it, has long been his metier. Hes a bullshitter, a phony and now hes our president.
This shouldnt have happened. But we let it happen, though Trump did have plenty of help
Unsurprisingly, the Fox propaganda machine and any number of right-wing radio ranters enthusiastically clambered aboard the Trump Train. They were abetted by many in the mainstream media who, mindful that Trump lured eyeballs to advertisers and too timid to call him out as the carnival barker he so obviously was, went along for the ride. A number of Republicans in Congress dismissed him at first. But when it became clear he had a shot at winning and that his devotees comprised at least half of their party, they scurried to adopt him as their useful idiot.
Its true that we are not all equally culpable. Roughly three million more people voted for Trumps chief opponent. But the right-minded among us didnt do enough to forestall the plainly looming disaster. The proof of that is the Trump presidency itself.
So, if we in our various incarnations are the problem, then what is the solution? Is there any way out? Wed better hope so. Whats certain is that its on us. We made a wreck of our government and its up to us to fix it.
There are positive signs:
A once compliant media has begun to take the gloves off. Genuine conservatives, outraged that their movement has been hijacked by philistines, are sounding the alarm. People are rising up and calling BS. For every Sean Hannity there is a Rachel Maddow, Jake Tapper or even Shepard Smith (at Fox News, no less!). For every Paul Ryan, there is a David Frum or Max Boot. Frothing crowds at CPAC are countered by the #MeToo movement and impressively eloquent teenagers fed up with politicians of any stripe who cower before the gun industry. On a good day, a John McCain or Jeff Flake will stand up to the cringing accommodationists in their own party. And, of course, Donald Trump himself, along with his corrupt lackeys, face a formidable foe in the person of Robert Mueller.
NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers recent testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee should mark a turning point, though he merely confirmed what has been apparent for some time: that even as our nation is under attack from a Russia determined to subvert our democracy, the president has not directed any relevant agencies to defend the country. This is a violation of the oath Trump swore on inauguration day and smacks of treason. We have entered uncharted waters.
Whats clear is that we need to use all non-violent resources at our disposal to rid ourselves and our country of the dangerous infection spreading from the White House into our body politic. These are not normal times and our usual reflexes will no longer suffice.
Trump is a problem of our own creation. We must become the solution.
Ron Reagan is an author and political commentator who lives in Seattle and Arezzo, Tuscany.

[INFJ] (Gay) ENTP-INFJ Success Story
First post, only doing so to add a glimmer of hope/inspiration/affirmation to the whole INFJ-ENTP thing. And our relationship is rather stereotypical, and stereotypically awesome. I am a gay male INFJ. He is gay male ENTP. Ive read that female/male dynamics are way different -- probably due to the social/gender role thing. So, being 2 guys, in similar situations socially/psychologically, is really a blessing. I'm a clinical psychologist in training (INFJ stereotype); he's a lawyer in training (ENTP stereotype). He's extremely quick, smart, intensely mental, sensual, sociable, and curious. I'm extremely quick, smart, intensely mental, sensual, not AS sociable, but just as curious and open, Im just slower on the "draw" and I dont take social initiative. I dont brag --- we only recognize each other's quickness, simply because we keep up with each other very well -- no matter the topic/lack of topic. We simply dont get this level of engagement outside of deep academic reads, complex historical, musical, cultural, political, legal topics, etc. He absorbs his knowledge and experiential wisdom from the external world, and brings it in to himself, then will ask me my view. I absorb my knowledge through my internal world, and express it out, and he will naturally soundboard, recapture what I say, reframe it, and boom -- new idea/talking point. Seamless conversational nonsense, of depth and quality I've only experienced within my own mind when im alone (stupid narcissist self-centeredness INFJ thing to say, I know). We both ask each other "what" we are "getting" from an experience, as if to try to understand "our other self" better, as if this helps us understand our own selves, which is probably what the "growth" thing is -- where we both see ourselves, through each other, in varying vantage points, so there really isnt any "issue" that both of our minds cant somehow work to something positive. Since the second we met, our chemistry was such that each date that begins as just a broad "lets see a show/hang out/go eat"-- turns into 5AM on a worknight, and we have to split and go home. Today, the same follows. No matter what happens, our days/nights blur into a continuum of "what day/time is it? I have work tomorrow I guess I should go!" We are at a position now where we just naturally plan stuff to do, and if it works out cool, if not, then another time. We aren't clingy -- we are independent, weird, do our own thing, and still come together and its like we're back home (at least, mentally/emotionally). Yes, his "Thinking"-centrism is evident, in that when I have an "Emotional-Apocalypse" moment, he struggles to think of what to say, and even tells me he wish could reach down deep for some inspirational woo-woo. Personally, its enough for me that he cares this much to help mirror and support me, despite his having no clue what to do. Yes, my emotional clinginess has been evident, as just a few days without him and I became a 12-year old middle school girl, and had a break down. He reassured me, and now I'm ok! We've both been open about this sort of "blindness" we have (where my emotions consume and destroy my logic; and his logic is keeping him, he thinks, from finding the "right" thing to say. He overthinks in his presentation, as his perception/vision is so broad and complex, he often worries of talking too much, writing too much, etc -- especially about himself. Similarly, I would overthink, but I think my more "Judging" quality helps narrow down and refine. He/we are idea generators; but typically I'm a bit more "practical" and "on it". As an ENTP, he's prone to boredom, and is constantly looking to engage. As an INFJ, I'm not bored too often, because I readily engage with the right person/environment. Because I'm a slow-to-open/weirdo, he has plenty to pick at. And since we/I am always trying to grow, try new things, learn new knowledge, theres always SOMETHING to discover between us -- it just happens in natural conversation stream. ENTPs do love debate -- supposedly, INFJs are delicate little flowers about this. I am not, and I personally hate when people cannot "debate" without getting feelings hurt or whatever. INFJs supposedly dont love debate because we take it personally? Yes, I used to. I grew out of this when I realized its not personal. Simple as that. So now, we can make fun of each other, call each other names, poke and prod at each others funny ideas and embarassments, and its totally for fun, openness, laughs, and acceptance. No feelings hurt. If anything, feelings/bond made stronger. Also it does help we are actually interested and passionate about 99% of the same things -- we can flip to any music, movie, etc and both of us will be completely into it-- either because we love it, or we just love taking in a new experience just for the sake of it. So yeah we're gay, and that probably makes us minorities among minorities, and neither of us fit gender roles too well (both of us just nerdy sorta weird guys, not into a scene), so I dont know how this applies to the general population... but if its any encouragement -- the dynamic is real, is palpable, and almost scary at how quickly it hits -- dizzying. But, after the initial shock, the realization of what it is sets in... and its the coolest feeling in the world. Not a high. Not intoxication. But--- more, me. And he becomes more "him". And for two people to offer judgment free, supportive space for each other to be the weird unique freaks we truly are, and often have hidden in various layers of our personality/personas, is my definition of love. So, when you find that person... maybe their type is the match for you, maybe not -- but in my case, it was straight out of the "textbook" match. So, its real. Of course, when he gets bored of me, all Ive asked is that he tells me, and we will go from there :) I'm a cautious optimist, or maybe a hopeful cynic --- but I've a good feeling/intuition (eyeroll) about this. Even if it doesnt stay intimate or romantic or whatever the label (dont care about labels) -- THIS feeling, THIS dynamic, the ENTP-INFJ thing, is real. So, to anyone wondering of an ideal match --- Idk much, but I do know Ive only felt this same feeling with 3 people in my life across multiple states, cities, schools, clubs, etc. -- and then, to add the romantic/intimate thing to it.... holy crap. Mountain moving. http://www.typologycentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92063&goto=newpost&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr

The internet isn't harming our mind of 'deep reading', it's cultivating it

The internet isn't harming our mind of 'deep reading', it's cultivating it
September, the first positivity officers of the United Arab Emirates’s Ministry for Happiness will start their schooling in pleasure technology, a software designed for them via the University of California, Berkeley, and Oxford University. The UAE established its Happiness Ministry in February. In July, the government of Madhya Pradesh nation in India accompanied suit. It will be controlled through the internet.
Internet mind
Typically, when governments set out to enhance their citizens’ subjective well-being, they present the idea as a good result in itself. That’s not to be sniffed at. However, there’s every other facet to this pursuit. Lots of evidence suggests that glad humans are not bested healthier in the end (and therefore much less luxurious to the state), But additionally higher employee bees.
A simple experiment demonstrates this. While volunteers are asked to carry out straightforward mathematical duties over in going back for modest in keeping with project payment, they do about 10% extra work if they have just watched a couple of minutes of a comedy display. If they look at a monotonous video Alternatively or don’t locate the show uplifting, the impact isn’t there.
Outside of the lab, software program programmers are better at fixing analytical problems when they’re happier. Putting plenty of people collectively, employees’ activity pleasure stages today may even are expecting a company’s price on Wall Street a yr down the road.
Past these slender measures of productiveness, there’s a suite of broader societal benefits – free items – that flow from keeping residents smiling. In Germany, for instance, the 7% of the population that offers blood doesn’t fit into any clean demographic generalisation. It isn’t disproportionately male, or lady hired or not – or more or less educated. However, Germans who document feeling commonly satisfied inside the previous month are much more likely to donate blood than folks who don’t.
As liberal governments parent all of this out and are looking for to encourage happiness and its spin-off effects, there may be at least one visible bump in the road: a countervailing fashion that isn’t making mass-happiness advent so easy. The power to raise citizens’ wellbeing is taking region as people are shifting their communications from in-person conferences to ever more online exchange.
Probably the largest have a look at of its type, meant to evaluate the results of social media use on everybody in Italy, makes for gloomy analysing. It without a doubt hyperlinks spending time on social networking websites with decrease levels of person happiness, and more especially, with a lower degree of well known consider in society.
Long before the Guardian released its marketing campaign in opposition to cyberbullying, even before Monika Lewinsky received a pummeling in the late Nineteen Nineties, there has been rightly reason to suspect that online communities might foster horrific vibes. Fifty years of research has underscored the conclusion that swapping written messages is an entirely ineffective manner to generate cooperation in war conditions. Face-to-face communique is inordinately higher.
This means, of the route, that the web international may additionally already be gambling nicer than it did some years ago, as social media structures have made it simpler for human beings to percentage video and audio cloth. Organisations which include Facebook have cottoned on to the concept that they want to broaden an entire host of soft skills to foster online Concord.
What’s regularly left out in discussions of social media malaise is that people, armed with the brand new happiness research, also can broaden tender abilities in their personal, to shield themselves from the subtly reduced impacts of online interplay. To that quit, right here are a few suggestions to hold your health pretty buoyant.
First, don’t fear approximately what number of on-line friends you have got. Whatever your persona type, age or profits, a have a look at of five,000 human beings (and their buddies) in Canada famous that doubling your range of actual global pals has an enormous impact on your happiness. Increasing your friends on social media has nearly none.
2d, avoid passively scrolling via your Fb feed. Doing so has been proven in experiments to make humans experience little and green with envy as they consume the rose-tinted edits of they buddies’ lives. Actively messaging and commenting on Fb is far less probable to offer you the blues.
Third, if you insist on scrolling thru your Facebook feed, train yourself to pay selective attention to updates from buddies with whom you’re near within the offline global. Their posts are Possibly as biased as everybody else’s, However reading them fosters a unique kind of envy of the nice, self-motivating variety. Through contrast, eating a glut of easy romance and individual adventure sports from distant associates is possible to conjure up a choice to drag others down.
Reading on the internet
Eventually, if you feel small, take pleasure in internet cats, the YouTube content material class with more views-per-video than some other. Research out of Indiana University unearths that the more human beings watch net cats, the more they reveal in the enjoy. (And in case you get definitely into it, you can constantly visit the internet cat film competition.)
Primarily based on their happiness measurements, the authors of that examine cross up to now as to suggest a function for Grumpy Cat and the permanently kitten-sized Lil Bub in puppy therapy, doubtlessly in the vicinity of the actual component.
Are young people losing the ability to study properly? I heartily want they have been because I would then have got a decent table nowadays on the British Library, which turns into overrun with undergraduates in the course of the University holidays. However what approximately younger human beings in trendy who are Facebooking and Tindering all day and can’t deal with whatever more than a soundbite? This alleged ADHD era, in addition to its elders who’ve been sucked into the internet lifestyle, may be chargeable for the human species losing its “deep-reading mind”. At the least, that is the concern expressed by using a group of writers and neuroscientists calling themselves the Sluggish analysing Movement.
In our lifestyle of an excitable neuroscientist, a variety of such arguments appoint the horny phrase “brain” and so sound goal scientifically. However, they’re truly socio-cultural reasons. Absolute confidence there are numerous forms of mission-particular neural developments (i.e., “brain” types) that have been misplaced in the mists of evolutionary time, and whose absence we haven’t any reason to regret. Not many human beings in advanced industrial societies nowadays, as an example, develop up developing the intellectual talents required to kill tasty massive mammals with a properly-hurled spear. But we do not study hand-wringing tales approximately how we have misplaced the antelope-searching mind. So there needs to be an also demonstration that the “deep-analyzing mind” is something worth valuing. And this is by no means going to be a (neuro)medical argument; it is a cultural argument.
As it takes place, I value deep reading – and so, possibly, do you. And so, quite naturally, do all of the youngish human beings I see regular on London shipping analysing seven hundred web page published books such as the game of Thrones collection, 50 Sunglasses of Grey or the brand new Donna Tartt. Stuart Jeffries has written persuasively about the popularity of such doorstops, in addition to sophisticated present day Television collection. This might be a subculture no longer of attention deficit But of “a wealth of care targeted extra comfortably at the matters that warrant it”.
Of path the internet may be distracting – you’re studying this, in spite of everything. It’s true that skimming is tempting, that being crushed with facts is in a few quarters worn perversely as a badge of pride; and that the request to explicit the “takeaway” (or, as a few say, the “to do”) of a prolonged piece of writing bespeaks a philistine facts-age instrumentalism, consistent with which the most effective viable characteristic of writing is to transmit bite-sized facts. And the brand new wave of velocity-reading apps which include Spritz might not assist, due to the fact it’s far well set up that the quicker you examine, the less you maintain approximately whatever the hell it was that just flashed by.
And but the mind in such doomy pronouncements that we’d all be slaves to skimming and thus be permitting our brains to atrophy sounds enormously condescending, simply As it did while expressed in Nicholas Carr’s ebook The Shallows. This type of paternalistic fatalism seems ably refuted via sales of younger Adult blockbusters, as well as by way of researchers who bother to discover what young human beings Clearly do.
Internet mind
In step with John Palfrey and U.S.A.Gasser’s Born Virtual, for instance, a teen’s “information-accumulating system” alternated skimming or “grazing” with a “deep dive” while she found something she may want to get her tooth into. And such nutritious, dense, lengthy pieces of writing are, of course, becoming ever more popular on the very same internet that pessimists blame for destroying our interest spans. Increasingly more on-line magazine startups are dedicated to in intensity reportage or cheerfully non-topical discussions of thoughts over many thousands of fantastically typeset words. Ideal, you might even say, for Gradual analysing.

-- and then, to add the romantic/intimate thing to it.... holy crap. Mountain moving. https://www.typologycentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92063&goto=newpost&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr
