im getting so sick of the kinnies debate its literally inescapable
here's a common way of speaking to/about KFF that i see frequently:
KFF: how many kins do you have?
Otherkin: uhh, "kins"?? did i kiss the memo where "kin" was changed into a verb? whats next, suddenly all of the gender identities i have will be my "transes"? get a load of this guy
literally this is so fucking cringe and i hate this type of response and i always will. "this person doesnt know better, im gonna sarcastically play stupid to make fun of them for asking a genuine question!" like who are you helping? you know what this person is trying to ask you. for a community so prideful of critical thinking, it feels hypocritical to pretend to miss someone's very obvious point. hey wait... this sounds familiar...
"but im so tired of kinnies! i dont have the energy to educate them anymore!" ok so dont reply at all then. this type of reply is the opposite of helpful. if a new community did this to me i would ditch them immediately because the publicly ridiculed me. thats not very welcoming and safe if you ask me.
the appropriate response is a gentle correction? if you really want to correct them? just a little "hey, we try not to use kin as a verb here just so you're aware :0) i have 4 kintypes," and move on with the conversation. its literally so fucking easy, and hey guess what, you didnt make them feel small and bullied by you, so they're probably going to stay in the Otherkin community now. or again, alternatively, just dont reply at all if you have nothing kind of helpful to add lol
if youre an Otherkin person really struggling with the idea that our community is unhospitable (and thats why people are leaving, rejecting terms, avoiding participation, etc) please take a look around, because this is exactly why & this type of thing is fairly common i mean im writing this post because i literally just saw this happen with my own eyes. so
