I want to talk about how Techno fights I’ve decided.

So everyone who’s ever watched the guy knows he’s great at PVP, but they don’t seem to necessarily understand why. And Techno’s fighting style is actually really interesting compared to others, especially compared to what I’ve seen from other top PVPrs, like Dream.

So first, let’s talk about Dream, because Dream is well known for being a great pvper and I love remembering my boy beat him. Dream is smart and straightforward. He stays mobile but has mastered axe crits and the shield mechanics. Dream fights like a classic tank, steamrolling through hits. It’s simple, it’s effective, and it’s overwhelming - he just rolls through you like you aren’t there. Add on pearls and crossbows and you’re able to tank from a distance as well.

It’s a really popular tactic! Combined with enchanted netherite, using this tactic you become both the unrelenting force and the immovable object. Even I use this tactic to some extent. It’s easy, it’s effective, it utilizes a lot of the game’s mechanics, it’s arguably what most people expect from Minecraft PVP now, post 1.16.

Now let’s talk Techno - playing Minecraft and specifically PVP games starting with 1.8 pvp! I have actually been playing that long too, so I recognize a lot of tactics he uses from my own experience on faction servers. 1.8 focused heavily on attention, accuracy, click speed, and not getting hit in the first place because armour was way less enchantable, way less protective, and way easier to break. Obviously skywars’ games don’t require you to care about armour durability, but it’s just to keep it in mind.

But anyway, 1.8 pvp necessitates movement. You HAVE to be mobile, you have to get out the way because as soon as you stand still in front of someone, you’ve been spam-clicked by someone with a diamond sword and you’re dead, bro. You’re dead as dicks. You're deader than dead. You died before your ping even caught up to you dyin, man. 1.8 pvp is all offense and movement.

And especially in Factions PVP, something Techno mentions doing a lot on his own, the other biggest way to win a fight in 1.8 is to lag the other person out and/or make it even harder for someone to touch you with mobs. When I played factions I had a decent laptop, and the main way I defended myself was chickens. They move a lot, they update a lot, and its Really easy to get a lot of them. Similarly, you can use just about any other mob, but chickens are easiest to put wherever you want them to be. Coincidentally, you can also do this with wolves, if you've got a good enough computer to keep them all stood up around you, with the added benefit that if someone decides to fight you, you now have a swarm of mobs between you and them.

So, to break it down for you bc thats a lot of info! I'm gonna split this into two categories: Hypixel PVP and SMP PVP.

In Hypixel PVP, Techno's main strengths were experience, general skill at the game, speed, good ping, and focus. Simply put, the guy's just really fuckin Built to do 1.8 PVP and he exploits a lot of classic mistakes that players make post 1.9 - they stand still, they dont spam click, they expect armour to do more. Techno is fuckin SPEEDY, both in game and when it comes to accessing what's going on around him and sorting thru items. Its a strong combo, and hes a strong opponent.

in SMP PVP, theres a LOT more factors to think about and also to exploit. The players are there, in call with him, to be taunted. Almost everyone he plays with isn't skilled at 1.8 pvp, as well - and that leads to a few key advantages. The main one is that unlike players used to 1.16 pvp, Techno has evolved a style that keeps the spirit of 1.8’s necessary movement while compounding how much damage he’s able to do by using things like fireworks, crossbows, slowness and harming arrows, fully enchanted netherite with full prot4 and thorns3. Thorns3 is a stacking enchantment; if you have ONE item that is thorns3, there is a chance when you are hit it will do 1/2 heart of damage per hit. If you have all four pieces enchanted, you can do up to 2 hearts per time someone hits you. That’s huge, especially because Techno doesn’t use a shield regularly, hence why he never really takes his armour off.

Techno’s mixed style is something that comes as a surprise - a lot of people keep up with versions and change their fighting style as the versions change - but Techno only adapted his. He didn’t need to relearn things, just add to them. His movement is unpredictable and he uses pots like it’s second nature. Those sorts of things are what makes Techno fucking DEVASTATING as an opponent. 1.16 is a lot of standing still and holding your shield up but that shit doesn’t work when your opponent runs around like a hyperactive toddler the whole time. And technos ability to negate the usefulness of a shield - something that is absolutely OP in game - is one of his biggest strengths.

Techno’s style is a unique mix of 1.8 and all the versions following it, focused on building on skills he already had and bolstering the things he was weak with like sheildwork or axe crits. It’s absolutely fantastic and fucking genius.

going to start posting wips here instead of twt. i want to draw more group scenes and backgrounds and just generally be more ambitious, even though my main focus is and always has been improving how my people look i wanna get better at everything. this is an idea i thought of for an anniversary drawing and i decided to just go ahead and do it now

also soft-painting-small looks bad at big sizes huh maybe that's. why it's named that (i don't have a go-to sketch/line brush in krita i just keep trying different things)

anyway i used csp more again in the last month bc a) i had a new ssd and Could b) still adapting to krita and it was stressing me out and i was trying to improve my anatomy and struggling bc learning to use krita was slowing me down. but being reminded of how much celsys sucks and how i need to not rely on csp sticking around made me start working on adjusting to krita again

thoughts on that below the cut (rambly and definitely not of interest to anyone who isn't also extremely interested in digital art programs)

like i said my main motivation in making the switch: celsys sucks and is untrustworthy. krita's excellent filter variety and way way better brush engines and amazing paintbrushes are huge incentives also though and i think given time and money and support it could easily outdo csp.

csp has so many impressively flashy features that i just...did not use or find useful in application. like the 3d models - couldn't get them working at all on my old computer and then when i could on this one...they're hard to pose, finicky, don't look as good as similar modeling programs, etc etc...i just did not end up using them much and when i did i didn't really know how and they often made things look worse. really they were only good for doing like. fashion poses for outfit design when i didn't want to spend time on the anatomy. vector brushes didn't work for me at all and just made my lineart look really stiff and uglier than ever (and then i decided to ditch lineart altogether which. smart move i think bc it is not my friend.) basically csp has loads of what look like incredible time saving features on its homepage etc, and then in actual execution i didn't really find any of them practical to use. *paul hollywood voice* all style no substance

ANYWAY all of that being said the only things i really miss from csp are the one click export buttons, the change layer to drawing color button, and finally and most of all just the general performance and practicality of it. csp is designed for a reasonable newbie to pick up and use. not quite as much so as like sai or medibang but pretty accessible. krita is just. not. at all. probably the hardest of these programs to learn from a technical standpoint. it just has SO MUCH and is generally made by and for people with above average tech skills which can make it more confusing. like the way layers and groups work is fundamentally different from the common, accepted way ps/csp/sai/everybody uses. and sure maybe alpha inherit is technically Better than clipping masks but it also makes things more challenging and less accessible. very linux design yknow. it is harder to just open krita up and Use It without looking up how to do specific things, it is harder to get away without reading documentation and watching youtube tutorials and memorizing keyboard shortcuts, you need to know how layers work and how to cut down memory usage in a file, basically you can't cut corners in learning krita like you can with similar programs (esp if you are like me and have been playing in said programs since you were. maybe 4)

and of course all that being said krita is a small dev team making an open source free product, whereas celsys adobe etc have massive teams and $$$ at their disposal so of course it is not apples to oranges and this is not a criticism of the krita foundation, just that it makes the product harder to learn and use and i get why people are turned off by that. i'm turned off by it! and all this hinges on your pc even running krita because it is more demanding than most (in most cases i've seen at least. definitely seen some people say they have issues with csp and can run krita, computers weird.) but it sucks that a few features are prone to issues no matter what. as cool and intriguing as so many of the features are...gmic plugin is crashy and liquify tool just lags to the point it's unusable. :(

but i don't want to end on a negative note and make it sound like i hate krita, krita's great, it's just never felt quite as natural as sai and csp have in the past so that makes things more uphill with it. but i'm trying. and trying to get over my Very Bad Social Anxiety to post on krita-artists and ask for help from *shudders* Knowledgeable Strangers when i don't understand things

anyway uhhh krita is hard and art is hard but i think it'll be worth it and also fuck celsys

How to Download Marvel comics for free!

I’ve been thinking about writing this for a while especially since we’re all stick inside but last week Marvel made the shitty decision to transition various print titles to digital only, meaning they’re directly taking revenue away from local shops rather than delay the titles, so since Marvel thinks digital comics is such a cool idea I’m gonna show you how to download as many as you’d like! (oh also this is for windows only, idk how to do it if you own a mac but also you’re rich anyways so who cares buy the comics richie)

I don’t want to take money away from the people that need it, not the actual companies of Marvel and DC fuck them they’re dying and they deserve it, but for my own rationalizing I want to take a minute to plug the Hero Initiative, basically what it is an organization that provides for comic creators that are having hard times, comics are a rough industry and you don’t get into it to get rich, I won’t go into it too much you can read for yourself but it’s been endorsed by Stan Lee, Justin Ponsor, Mike Grell, Skottie Young, Rags Morales, a lot of big names, so I’d ask if you do follow this guide and download some comics for free please consider donating to the Hero Initiative (they also sell autographed prints and you can commission some really famous artists)

anyways onto the good stuff! I’m going to be doing a fairly brief but easy to follow guide, there will be links at the bottom of the post so look for those, I’ll probably be making a few other posts with some more info so also check back for those if my blog is still here

What do I need?

You’re going to need 4 basic things if you want to do this as easily and safely as you can

1) a good anti-virus

2) anonymous web browser (Tor)

4) a safe and reliable source for the comics

4) a torrent program to download the comics

Also optional: VPN

Anti-Virus

it’s good to remember when torrenting that no one is your friend, everyone is out to trick you and no one cares, honestly you should also have a good anti-virus though, I’m not really gonna tell you which one you should have but Norton 360 is pretty good but say that in a room of CS majors is the quickest way to start a fist fight, honestly just google it, you’re gonna have to do some research, but really you’re good as long as you don’t go with Avast or Kaspersky, I’m going to go over typical tricks and traps later to ensure safety, this is just basic overall security thing

Anonymous Web Browser (Tor)

next we’re gonna download Tor (you can do this before getting a VPN, like I said either one is going to put you on a list but using one to cover you getting the other at least mitigates it lol) Tor is a great open source project that allows for basically complete anonymous web browsing, it’s a project dedicated to privacy and disruption of corporations ability to control every aspect of our lives, also a friend of mine bought K off silk road with it once in highschool, really not too much you need to know about it before using it, just download it, let it configure and you’re good, also use Duck Duck go that it comes with, don’t switch it to chrome or anything, Duck Duck go is anonymous search service which better lends to Tor’s protection

Where to get the torrents

Now this is really important because you can have everything else set up but without a safe reliable source none of this is gonna do any good, but this is the dangerous part, torrent sites are notorious traps (I bricked more than on family PC on limewire) and this is why I said earlier to remember these people are not your friends and are out to hurt you, don’t click banner ads, don’t believe pop ups, make sure your virus protection is on and it’s a very good idea to have an adblocker on, also look out for another post I’ll be making on what download buttons to trust for different popular torrent sites

when talking comics (and remember specifically only Marvel comics) there’s no other name out there than Nemesis43, he is a god and he’s going to be your new best friend, there are groups and sites out there that do comic scans that you have to pay to join or like apply to join, that shit’s dumb as hell and I’ve never used them once and I’ve got more comic than I can read in my lifetime, you don’t need em and you especially don’t need to give them money, donate to the Hero Initiative instead

Nemesis has moved around a bit in the past (if you remember the WWT debacle) right now the main site for him is ettv (there will be a link at the end of the post) sites a bit barren but he’s there, he also has a reddit he gives updates on very rarely, generally if he moves he adds where his new home is in a text doc in his recent uploads, I fully trust him and his uploads, he’s been doing this for years and I’d never have a second thought downloading from him, also because he uploads so much he’s often very highly rated and verified on whatever site he’s on

The second place I’d recommend is getcomic (again there will be a link at the end), now this is very important, never donate to them, they kinda suck, basically they’re plugged into a bunch of different scanner groups and just steal those scans and put them up and then ask for donations, basically they’re just an aggregate (Nem kinda is too but he doesn’t ask for donations and stuff), they usually use browser downloads which are a complete pain so I’d really recommend Nemesis over them but they do have TheComicGuy on torrent galaxy for larger files but that updates a lot less frequently then the main site, again I trust these guys (as long as you’re on the actual site) but don’t trust any banner ads or pop ups, also for downloading they give multiple options, a lot are very sketchy, just use the main server

also there’s other sites like readcomics or newcomics, never used em, don’t like em, use at your own behest

On sites like ettv you’re gonna want to use the magnet, someone years ago told me it was safer and I just believed them and have always used em, not sure if it’s true but it’s worked so whatever, really you shouldn’t be too worried about this stuff and if you follow this guide you’re going to be way over prepared to download comics, really no one cares about comic torrenting, movies, video games, tv shows that’s the stuff people really get caught on, this is just nerd shit

I’m going to be making another post showing how to use these sites, and other sites comic can be found on so look back at my blog for that

Torrent program

This is pretty basic, just get utorrent, it’s what I’ve always used, it works, whatever, definitely look this up with a VPN on or on Tor, it’s simple to use, I’ll be doing a short tutorial on how to make it even safer

Lastly this one is optional but a pretty good idea, for more than just this

VPN aka Virtual Privacy Network

honestly you can get the anonymous web browser (Tor) or the VPN first, their both going to help cover you downloading the other and honestly both are going to put you on a list for googling them (which is why I suggest looking for someone who just already has the .exes ((I always keep them on a thumbdrive for when I have to reset one of my computers)), I might try to make a google drive with em but also I might not bc that sounds like work and I’m already typing all this up), anyways I’m not really gonna explain what a VPN is, there’s a lot of resources that can explain it better than I can but basically it masks what you do on the internet, there’s a lot of choices when picking a VPN but the big thing I looked for when choosing mine was 1) non-US based so it’s harder for US investigation agencies to request stuff for them or get anything from them 2) one that doesn’t keep logs, honestly they all do even if they say they don’t, but you wanna look for one that hasn’t turned over many logs to US agencies and 3) unlimited peer 2 peer connections which is complicated but basically means you can torrent stuff anonymously and with decent speed. Like Anti-Virus there are a ton of different VPN’s out there, you really have to do research because there are actual accounts of FBI agencies crating VPN’s telling people they’re anonymous when really they had direct access to all the info, I haven’t done any research but NordVPN seems kinda like one of these, really the more they advertise the more suspicious I am, Just google “best vpn 2020″ and look at like 5 lists and read the the stuff, personally I use IPvanish which unfortunately is US based and while it gave over logs in 2016 even thought they said they didn’t keep any but now they’re owned by a new company that super double promises they don’t (again who cares they all do) but they’ve allow P2P and use 256-bit AES encryption

I wanna take a second to mention that this isn’t going to be free, this is the only place you’re going to be spending money (besides donating to Heroe Initative of course), a good VPN is about $100 a year which all in all isn’t terrible, technically you can just get by on the anonymous browser but this gives you an extra layer of security to pretty much ensure you won’t get caught and plus in the ever worsening internet hell world a VPN is becoming more and more important, I’m sure you can find articles about it but yea you don’t technically need a VPN but it’s useful for more than just this

How to work it all

Ok so this is gonna be a little stream of consciousness, as this all kinda has been, so sorry but I’m gonna try and explain it as best I can and also feel free to ask any questions on this blog, I’ll check back eventually I’m sure

So first thing first, make sure you’re virus protection is on and you’re connected on your VPN if you’re using it (you can google “what is my IP” to double check it’s working) then load up Tor, let it load and connect up and whatever, then go to https://www.ettvdl.com/user/Nemesis43 (I’m just gonna show this with Nemesis43, maybe I’ll make another one for getcomics but that’s pretty straight forward, also nem is better)

now remember we’re only here for Marvel comics, so scroll past all those thousands of other comics this would work exactly the same for, I’m gonna go for Ant-Man #4 which was released on the 13 as a digital only comic despite the first three issues being physical copies and now sit on my shelf forever unfinished making me look like a complete penis

it may take a while but it’s going to look like this, click on the blue words, it’s gonna take you to a page that looks like this

now from here we’re going to get the magnet link, right click and select copy link address, I like doing this because it limits my interactions with the page, note the advertisement at the top telling me I need a VPN despite thinking I’m in Guadalajara (which for legal reasons I am)

just copy that and then go to utorrent and click the add link

it’ll open a little box, it should add the link automatically, if it doesn’t just hit ctrl+V

hit ok and it’ll load it up, it might need to download some metadata but after that it should be good, oh also it might bring up a window basically asking where you want to save it and what to name it, you can set all that up in preferences, I did so I just turned that window off and can’t be assed to turn it back on, just hit ok if you don’t wanna bother with that stuff, it’ll go into your downloads by default

and that’s it really, it’s that easy, I might make another thing talking about how to make utorrent more anonymous or whatever so look for that, but stock it’s fine, also when it’s finished downloading it’s gonna start seeding (like uploading to someone else) I’ve always been a scumbag and I never seed but Nemesis seeds stuff so much you really don’t need to anyways, just select it and hit the stop button (the black square on the tool bar)

I’m dyslexic and I want to write fic, I actually do write some just in my phone notes, but problem is there’s sometimes spelling mistakes or missing words etc in my writing and even if I check it over then I still inevitably miss some. Is it worth trying to put my fic out there if people are just gonna ignore it for not being grammatically perfect?

First of all, imo it is always worth sharing creativity, and second of all, everyone sometimes screws up (eg. uses the wrong versions of words, spells something wrong, drops words etc), so don’t feel like you’re the only one who does that. I know I do. But I do have to say that regularly posting noticeably grammatically flawed work is probably going to be super depressing for you because yes, many people will ignore it, especially for a major fandom or ship where they can easily find something else.

That doesn’t mean all is lost, though!

Here are a few things you might want to try:

Get your phone to read your fic aloud. I’m not sure how exactly, but there is usually something in accessibility settings where you can do this. Hearing work read aloud will help you notice where things don’t sound right, where there are dropped words and so on. Then you can fix these issues, and thus improving your writing and your chances of getting & keeping people’s attention!

Write it, re-read to edit, then change the font and re-read to edit again. This has been super helpful for me, and I know quite a few fic writers who use it. It’s something about our brains seeing different shapes and having to work that little bit harder to make sense of it, rather than just scanning over what it’s read 50 times already. Seeing something in a different format and/or font makes us look at it differently and so we tend to pick up more mistakes. (This is one of the main reasons people tend to notice flaws after it has been posted).

Wait a day. Write the fic, maybe edit it, then wait a day and edit it again before posting. Similar to the above, it means your brain has not become accustomed to what it is reading and is therefore less likely to tell you what it thinks should be happening but rather, what is actually happening. You’re likely to catch more mistakes that way.

If possible, use a computer, or at least a tablet with a bigger screen than your phone. It is better for typing, and with more space dedicated to each letter/more spaces between letters, it is less likely that you’ll make spelling errors. Using a cursor or again, having more space to touch, also makes it easier to go back, edit, cut, copy/paste, delete and add things without “oops it deleted the whole paragraph” “no THAT word no THAT- dammit-” and all that shite carrying on.

If possible, use a word processing software like Microsoft Word, Pages, or OpenDocs (part of the Apache OpenOffice suite - this is an open source version of Office basically, so it is free - I used it for several years during high school, and it didn’t give me any trouble!). These programs will have functions such as spelling and grammar checks which, while not 100% flawless, will generally steer you in the right direction.

*handy cheat tip: some email services, and even tumblr (on a computer at least, idk about mobile, bc writing on mobile is an EXTREME pain in my ass so I say again, if possible use a computer) may also offer similar word-processing style recommendations, especially as regards spelling, so if you can’t use one of these softwares it may be that copying your stuff into an email or post and editing it there is helpful.

Get a beta reader. This is another area in which networks and tagging can help you. A beta reader is essentially an editor, and they can have many different functions, from input into concept and plot holes (sometimes these are known as ‘alpha readers’, but I think that’s become outdated), to your basic grammar and spelling functions. If you say that you’re looking for a grammar & spelling beta for x fandom/ship, you may find an ongoing relationship with one or two people who regularly beta for you, or if you don’t write much fic, it may be better to say something like “hi I’m looking for a grammar & spelling beta for a 1000 word peraltiago fic, is anyone willing?” or something like that, and someone will probably put their hand up to help you out. Much like fic writers, they will almost always do it for free, especially for shorter & non-commissioned fic.

You could also of course, just “suck it and see”. I don’t know how poor your grammar etc is, but you might not actually in the end make many more mistakes than anyone else. If you’re willing to put up with a problem which, to be completely honest, will probably happen anyway (eg. insecurity about whether or not your fic is good enough, and why isn’t anyone reading it?, etc), then you could go right ahead and post! If you’re finding that people aren’t engaging, you could perhaps then consider the above. Who knows? It’s not a blanket rule that “no one will read if you use the wrong “they”!” or something like that, and above all else fic is supposed to be fun. It might be worth posting and just seeing what happens, but if you’re very concerned that nobody will read it because of the grammar and such, then definitely use some of the above. (but be prepared for that insecurity to stick around - it’s something that most if not all fic writers feel, so welcome to the party

Storage media for a cyberpunk story

So after I read this post by @by-ethan-fox where he mentions having a reason for your cyberpunk character using cassette tapes because they aren’t subject to the ‘draconian copyright rules’ of a dystopic future, I was thinking I’d make a little post talking about other out-dated storage media you could use - might be useful for writers, but mostly bc I felt like being a nerd.

1. Compact Cassette This is a pretty dated medium, used in early home computers - it holds around 660 kilobytes per 90 minute side of a cassette [wikipedia]. For comparison a 2 page, 1000 ish word docx document (modern word format) is about 20kb.

When using this medium, a user has to manually press play on a recorder device like the one used with a commodore 64, and they would have to change sides of the cassette when one was filled. There are also tools that used VHS / Betamax tapes from a little later on but these weren’t super common. Both have a chance of being easily damaged so that’s something to bear in mind if a character is running all over the place.

Not much space on here for DRM (Digital Rights Management) but you could definitley fit a program script or important document (I’d suggest using Text files as PDF for example can get easily into tens or hundreds of megabytes.

2. Floppy Disks There are lots of versions of these from the big 8-inch, 5 ¼-Inch actually floppy diskettes - to the (relatively) newer and more iconic 3 ½-Inch floppy. I’m going to focus a little more on the 3 ½ inch. This had a hard plastic case, so is a little more robust than something like a CD, DVD or Blu-ray - but you can easily destroy the data by opening the slider and scratching the magnetic material hidden within.

This might be a bit more practical for a character to use - floppy disks and readers are still much more attainable today than cassettes (you can literally buy them on amazon), so you could fit more on them, although this is dependent on the type - early types could fit less and are less readily available, i.e. a 3 ½ inch floppy used by an early Mac mightn’t work with a later model IBM PC or modern diskette readers. (See wikipedia for types.) A later High-Density floppy from the 80′s would hold around 1.44 Megabytes (you’d need 711 to make up a Gigabyte [x])

These disks did have some copy protection on them however, usually preventing copying media from the disk or requiring the original disk in order to be run (in the case of games or software) [x]

3. ZIP Disks So this might appeal more if you want your character to use an unusual or inaccessible media.

ZIP Disks were a floppy-disk alternative developed by a company called Iomega, often being called a “Super floppy”. These had capacities of 100Mb initially, but were expanded to 250Mb then 750 later on [wikipedia]. So you could fit a lot on this, even a few pictures with hidden messages perhaps?

As these weren’t nearly as common as traditional 3 1/2″ floppy disks they would be well suited to a cyberpunk character trying to safely store their programs, but you’d have to think about how they got hold of the blank media and how they access it - maybe they made their own reader which they managed to squeeze into their cyberdeck.

I don’t know if these had the same hardware protection as 3 1/2″ floppy disks (i.e. the notch cut in) but I would assume they have the same software type copy protection.

4. Pocket Zip / Iomega Clik! This is one of my favourite obscure media, again it is an Iomega product similar to other storage media at the time but never took off. These are basically like miniature hard-drive disks capable of storing around 40Mb (a 100Mb was in the works but wasn’t released according to Wikipedia). These are much higher-density than floppy-disks of the time, but their small size meant that they were limited in capacity which I think lead to their death. I think these would suit a more modern styled cyberpunk story - they are metal cased and look strikingly different to the other types of storage I mentioned.

Again the less common factor means it would be difficult for a character to obtain the disks as well as a reader for them, but would be a very cool way to store lots of programs.

With all these storage types, they will have capacity for some sort of copy protection, whether through a simple key or algorithm- but won’t have the spare capacity for complex DRM technologies like modern media such as DVD’s, Blu-Rays or flash storage, so would fit that break-away from large corporate control, especially as they are no longer normally supported.

Encryption I just wanted to mention quickly that there are also ways of hiding data in plain-sight, such as steganography. This means you could hide a text file inside a bit-map or jpeg image for example- these work in different ways - with bitmap changing bytes in the image, it is more noticeable. A program such as Jstego uses the Jpeg compression algorithm to hide a file inside the image and is much harder to detect. One person hid a zip-file containing the entire works of Shakespeare in a Jpeg image.

ok i was not planning on writing that much <- me when i literally make any post. anyway its under a read more. first three paragraphs is just me complaining abt 8tracks the rest are updates/ramblings about how the project is going on if anyones interested :p

8tracks is literally so broken fr its sooooo annoying. like i couldnt delete playlists from collections for the longest time till i found out that if theres more than one tab open you cant delete??? playlists??? which. annoying since i play music on one tab and work on organizing on the other but whatever. so it was fine and working and i was able to delete a bunch of playlists/collections.

occasionally it got fucked up again so i just deleted the tab and it seemed to fix it until. i was splitting the rose collection into rose and grimdark rose and. it would Not let me delete. like i closed and reopened the tab so many times. i refreshed. i SHUT DOWN MY COMPUTER and it STILL DIDNT WORK!!!!!!!! SO i made a new rose playlist and manually transferred them all to it before changing the name of the original to ‘delete’ so when i regained the ability to i could

but then. as i was working on another playlist. i regained my ability to delete (as well as move playlists around in a collection which is ALSO something i wasnt able to do) and i was so overjoyed. finally….i could delete this playlist…and as i went to go click delete….nothing happened. IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am fuming rn i hate 8tracks layout so much no wonder it shut down this web design is absolute shit

anywayy im currently organizing the collections on 8tracks itself for ease of access and archiving :D im gonna make a masterlist of all character/relationship/misc collections WITH the amount of playlists in each. my thoughts are that if there are collections that people want me to do then they can request and ill focus working on that! esp for smaller characters/relationships that dont have many playlists. and also its nice to be able to see it all in an organized list

currently i have about 2,300 hs playlists in collections out of the 5,800 playlists in the hs tag on 8tracks. i got an idea of making one giant collection with all hs playlists in there (or all the ones i have in my current collections) so if i go to save a playlist i can easily see if its already in a collection. plus i can actively see how many i have archived compared to the amount in the hs tag. my plan is once theres about 1000 left then ill just go to the bottom of the tag and work my way up to see if i can find any playlists i missed <- i knowww i said i wasnt gonna archive them all but im a little bitch and i like completion

on that note some other things: ill be rewriting my pinned post since i did it in one sitting at like 2 am and its not very good LOL and i already have the character masterlist written i just need to finish making some collections and updating my lists

i still need to make the relationship playlist masterlist which will be a lot harder since for characters i just grouped them in their respective character groups. but for relationships thats harder. since on one hand i can definitely do that even if it might get a little specific. but on the other hand i kind of want to do it by popularity [ex. 100+ playlists, 50+ playlists, under 5] but thats really messy and it would be hard to navigate esp for smaller ships but good in a statistical pov. idk i might make both and people can use whichever works better for them

one last thing i want to clarify: i always say ‘relationship’ and not ‘ship’ playlists bc not every playlist that involves more than one person is romantic. it could involve romance/friends/family/strangers/etc etc. its just any playlist that features more than one person. also im going to be categorizing all relationships by saying ——— and ——— instead of any ship names bc i find this is better to address relationships playlists since not everyone views their playlist the same way. esp in a fandom like hs where we have officially 4 types of romance! and not to mention family relationships and such. just a little clarification

Ugh a new rper showed up in the fandom the other day, and… Man. I promoted them bc I want to be a supportive member of our small community, but their blog is /unreadable/. And if it weren’t for the fact that someone /else/ had used a similar theme before, I wouldn’t’ve been able to find their pages either, with how greyed out and inconspicuous it is. I have pretty good eyesight (not 20/20 but close), but I had scoot within inches of my computer screen to try to read it. And before someone suggests zooming in, zooming in doesn’t help the fact that the text is like 2 shades lighter than the background. I tried to read it, I really did, but it’s /impossible/. This is what I mean guys, with the graphics.

OH AND GUESS WHAT. EVERYONES CLAMORING TO RP WITH THEM. They literally have two posts: one is a promo, the other is a starter call. They haven’t even started posting starters for the starter call. I’m extremely hesitant to follow them back after they followed me. I usually reblog promos to help people out, not necessarily follow them. Plus, it seems pretty clear to me they’re not about to follow my rules (it says that for interacting, they need to send my PW before I follow back and guess what? Mutuals only. So I guess they just wanna “read” my blog right? No? Who the fuck knows bc when someone presses follow it could mean a billion different things).

The people who have been fucking ignoring me are clamoring to rp with them.

I mean to be fair we’re rping different canons, but for all I know, almost all my duplicates are inactive or slow right now. I’m the only one left who consistently writes multipara and novella. So what gives?

I guess this is just another ranty, rambly post about how much I really hate this trend towards grey aesthetics and all that. I don’t find them appealing at all. I find them blurry and horrible. I find fancy, curly text, or double small text, unreadable.

Like there’s no good explanation at this point for why no one interacts with me, but all of them are perfectly happy talking to one another. Zero. Well, at least no positive explanation or at least a neutral one. At this point I’m ready to say they care more about “aesthetic” than writing skill bc I guess they’re more willing to rp with someone with zero RPS on their blog and no writing samples than someone who has been writing their canon for more than two years and going. Someone who does everything from multipara to novella… And someone who for some reason is writing a canon who is getting less and less popular or something. I don’t know what it is. I just don’t know. I’m hurt, a little confused, and very spiteful, and it’s been harder to contain these feelings with the rise of burn blogs and being stressed due to other factors. I want to call people out for this. But I know it’s just out of jealousy and spite… Sigh. It’s hard I guess, being old school and coming from humble beginnings. And I guess hard because I used to have so much activity when I first started out. No one cared about whether you formatted or wrote with icons. And this was only two years ago. When did the icons come into play? Formatting? “”“”“"Aesthetics”“”“”“? I’m just tired i guess, of school, of these invisible standards, of some glass ceiling I’ve been hitting because for some reason I have to /prove/ I’m good /despite/ my theme being actually accessible (for the record it’s not the default theme, although tbh I have mad respect for people who do use it bc man there’s a reason? Why that’s the default? Because it’s user? Friendly?) or /despite/ not using icons. Can I just not have despite? Can it just be "and”? I’m fed up and frustrated, because this new blog is just the epitome of “people only care about aesthetic and not about actual writing”. It’s true. They literally haven’t even written anything yet and have people calling them “a quality writer”. Like what the fuck? And the same people turn around and apparently can say I am “a perfect writer” when there are people watching in a discord channel, but can’t be bothered to write with me or reblog my promo or write an ooc post on the dash saying my writing is perfect. Thanks. Really makes me feel like y'all are genuine. You’re only welcoming to people who match your aesthetic, not people who bother to put their effort into writing instead of graphics. Actually I do put effort into my graphics. I reckon I’ve put more effort into my graphics than all of them combined. They’re all done from scratch, from art to filters to backgrounds. But I guess this means nothing when you can just slap a lead-colored filter onto a badly cropped picture of your muse’s foot and call it a day.

Headcanons below!! VVVVV

I say "Main Home" here because they do have multiple homes, at least one in each mate's home country (pretty hugeass ones in St. Petersburg and outskirts of Bangkok), but this is their "home base" so to speak.

It's located in Hasetsu, and without researching too much into Karatsu's actual layout in rl, I'm placing it somewhere within long but manageable jogging distance to both the Ice Castle and Yuuri's parents' inn. A lot of Japanese rural towns (including my own hometown) have slowly been losing their traditional single storey homes and ricefields and have been turning them into apartment complexes to maximize money yield. In this AU, I HC that Victor and Phichit bought one of these lots and turned it into a huge ass fancy mansion for their family. Again, in this AU those two are filthy rich (though Minami also comes from money), and given the very rural location of their home, the location should be comparatively affordable. Given their family's fame and the amount of frequent travel they do, I figure it's okay for them to want their main home away from big cities and in a place harder for fans/paparazzi to stalk them.

In general, their home is modern but homey, more cream and natural wood colors over pure white, with areas that are more traditional Japanese. Each personal area is customized to its inhabitant’s liking.

While I think most of the rooms are pretty self-explanatory/I haven't thought that much about them myself, here's a floor by floor breakdown of some of the important rooms and what they're used for.

F1 (G) - Ground Floor

Main Entryway - Is traditional Japanese style, very large area where people can take off shoes, big ass shoe cubies on both sides where both family and guests can store their shoes. Inside the home, in general no shoes except in the basement floors.

Living Area - Main area to entertain guests/chill. Tons of couches, super plush carpets to roll around in, huge ass glass doors with a great view of the back yard to watch kids through. Small movie theater screen can descend from the ceiling in front of said glass doors.

Kitchen - Pretty big but manageable domain, everyone considers it Phichit's domain whenever he's home but Yurio spends a lot of time in there too. Also has a small corner for kids to watch parents cook/help if it's a task that requires some extra table space.

Bar - Victor and Chris especially like chilling here, another great guest entertaining spot. Tons of alcohol beneath counter.

Dining Area - Has a huge round table that can fit all of their main family members and a few guests. Because it's so large and therefore impossible to reach around, it's Chinese dim sum table style, with a center that can rotate. It's fantastic because plenty of room for everyone, but it can also be pretty lonely when a lot of people are away, in which case the present family members may choose to dine in another area.

Chill Area/Music Area - Another place with lovely carpet and nice couches, also a grand piano bc every Rich House needs one of those right AHAHAH (of the kids, Arisa plays most).

Study Room/Library - Has lots of tables and computers and books in every language. A good place to chill, but also where Minami likes to tutor the kids. Sitting at the tables gives a great view of the back yard.

Back 2nd building (with kitchen/dining/living) - Second entirely unnecessary smaller building in the back, most important feature is the elevator, which goes through all the floors.

Back yard - Lots of pretty lawn and nice cobbled paths. Is completely enclosed by a stone wall high enough to discourage trespassers but low enough to not feel cut off from the rest of the world (and allow in neighborhood cats, but keep the dogs safely in when they're romping free). Yurio is half-assedly attempting a vegetable garden in the corner with varying levels of success. They like having barbecue parties in the summer, followed by mini fireworks <3 Victor and Chris like skinny dipping in the pool in the middle of winter, Yuuri and the others will watch from the balconies thanks. There's also an area in the back that has a retractable cover, which can look down into the giant communal bath in basement 1.

F2 - 2nd Floor

The "Parents' Floor," also has open areas that look down into the 1st floor and up into the 3rd floor, makes the ceiling feel super tall in those areas :'D

Nest - The biggest main feature of this floor. A huge room with an enormous round bed, it's heavily padded and shaped a bit like a very shallow and plush bowl filled with blankets and pillows. Any of the family can sleep there, and it's usually the favorite place to sleep. Can fit all the main family members including the kids when they're a bit older comfortably. Also has some nice lil tables and desks and a huge veranda overlooking the backyard if people just want to chill. Absolutely no sex allowed in this room because kids can come in at any time.

Other Communal Sleep Room - Also known as "The Icky Room" by the kids, aka the communal room for when the adults are feeling frisky >.>; If people are doing stuff in that room, it's okay for the other adults to assume it's an open invitation to join. Also has a very big bed that can comfortably fit most of the adults at once, and also a very large jacuzzi bath for cleanup...The kids have all had their own Experiences TM, but in general have learned to steer clear if they hear Noises.

Yuuri's Room - All bedrooms are the private domains of the individual, and everyone needs to knock and get permission to enter. Most of the time people prefer to sleep in the Nest, but it's important to have a private space too. Also holds personal belongings, personal closet, etc.

Yuuri doesn't have as many belongings as some of his mates (other than merch of Victor which he absolutely won't get rid of HAHA) and has a relatively small closet as someone who doesn't particularly care for fashion. That being said, he's the most likely to invite a husband or more to come join him, so his private bed is the biggest.

Phichit's Room - While he can't be at home as much of the others especially when he's younger, he needs access to all of his work when he happens to be home, so has a decently sized office attached to his room. Has a big walk in closet and shares a bathroom and veranda with Yuuri, reliving their good ol days as roommates. Also has 3 enormous glass tanks for his hamsters, which Yuuri and the kids take care of when he's away.

Victor's Room + Yurio's Room - These two honestly don't spend that much time in their own rooms except to access their huge ass wardrobes, but again having a private place to retreat to when needing space is important. They share a bathroom and veranda.

Minami's Room - While he assumed he was a guest, he intentionally asked for a room close to the nursery so he could sprint in to take care of the kids before they bothered their parents. He, like Yuuri, has comparatively little in personal belongings (except for Yuuri merch, which he also stubbornly refuses to let go of). Has his own private bathroom, which is nice because he frequently stains it with hair dye...

Chris's Room + Otabek's Room - While technically "guest rooms,” they stay so frequently and for so long that they more or less naturally became "their" rooms. They're across the wing from Victor and Yurio and mirror their rooms in most ways.

Nursery - Easily accessible to both Yuuri and Minami, though the kids weren't there often as they often sleep next to their parents in the Nest or their respective rooms. Also partially taken over by cats, who think the cribs make excellent cat beds...

F3 - 3rd Floor

The "Kids' Floor," pretty much has the same cut outs looking down into the first floor as the 2nd floor.

Big Chill Area - Directly above the Nest and is very open, with a veranda that overlooks the veranda of the Nest. Good place to chill and roll around in. Also connects to several other pretty big rooms for specialized activities for the kids.

The Twins' Rooms - Were offered separate rooms but they asked that the wall be torn down so they could share the space. They have a hugeass walk-in closet honestly bigger than any of their parents' because they haven't learned moderation. They also like having their beds pressed together into one larger bed. Their veranda overlooks Phichit + Yuuri's. Share a bathroom with Arisa and Yuuji.

Arisa + Yuuji's Rooms - Relatively moderate rooms, Yuuji has to go through Arisa’s room to access the bathroom but they don't mind.

Play Room + Study Room - More places for the kids to chill, though adults are in there sometimes too.

2nd Kitchen/Dining Room - Because sometimes the main kitchen is occupied and it's easier to go up a floor? Arisa also likes experimenting with baking here.

Corner Chill Area - 'Nuff said, why you rich people need so much space, gods.

Big Guest Rooms - Some nicer bigger guest rooms, including a fancy one with access to a jacuzzi bath. For Important Guests like Yakov and Lilia.

Window Glass Hall - Big hall with all glass walls that goes over the back yard. A refreshing place to practice dancing, but if anyone wants to do anything there they generally have to shoo off the occupying mass of sunbathing cats.

R - Rooftop

Rooftop Ice Rink - Because of course they freakin' have one. Generally only iced during the winter, and they can skate right up to the edge where they can look down on the back yard and also Hasetsu and probably the ocean. In the summer is a nice flat field for other things.

Track - "Go run some laps on the track," Victor can command and they don't even need to leave the house...

Living Area - Another nice place to chill.

Dining Area - How much do these people eat...

Misc Room - Why do rich people have so much space.

B1 - Basement 1

Aka, Exercise Floor

Ice Rink - The indoor one, available all year round because of course they have one. Not nearly as big as a full size rink, but large enough for some decent solo practice, is great for when weather sucks and they don't want to go out to the Ice Castle. Yuuri especially loves going to it at bizarre times of night when he can't sleep and wants to meditate on the ice.

Weights/Mat Room - 'Nuff said, gym at home keep those muscles ripped yo.

Cardio Room - All them runnin' machines. Also has access to a multi-stall bathroom.

Dance Studio - Pretty darn big, honestly bigger and nicer than Minako's ballet studio. So Minako teaches the kids here. Walls can change between mirror mode or multiple solid color modes, and door seams are near invisible. Also has drop down poles.

Sound Proof Practice Rooms - For all your deafening screaming and instrument shrieking needs...

Communal Bath - Because apparently being jogging distance to an actual free onsen wasn't enough. Big ass bathing area, sure most of the bathrooms come with baths but why bother when you have this masterpiece in the basement. Has a changing room and multi-stall bathroom for after various exercise, opens into a cleansing/shower area, and then nice big private communal bath. The main bath area has a section of the ceiling that can roll back so they can bathe beneath the open sky/let the snow fall on them which is honestly the best type of onsen experience. Even has a small waterfall that Victor can sit under in comfort however long he wants. On the other side, there's a small area with even hotter water and a sauna, along with a pretty lil rock garden.

*Note, while some people wear shoes on this floor because of the various exercise rooms, they all have pairs of shoes that they only use here. In other words, it's relatively clean, no outside dirt, and people generally also feel comfortable padding around barefoot or with slippers only.

Heat Room/Emergency Room - Where Yuuri goes when his heats are strong and he wants more privacy than the 2nd floor rooms. Is separate from the rest of the house and has multiple pheromone blocking doors that keeps his scent mostly inside. Has a big bed, a fridge, and a bathroom for his mates to care for him. They clean up really well after each heat, and because of how isolated the room is, how well equipped it is with sustenance and a bathroom, and how sturdy the walls are, it can double as an "emergency room" in case of threat. Built so it can survive a bombing, and the hall door can close seamless. Helps that only family members know this room even exists, as heat rooms aren't usually openly talked about ^ ^;

EDIT, added: Washing/Drying Machines Room - BECAUSE IT WAS DRIVING ME INSANE that I forgot to add one in the first time round because yes it's a small detail but NECESSARY. It's a big room that has a ton of machines so everyone can do their loads separately, with plenty of counter space for folding and racks for things that can be air dried indoors. It's Japan though so they like to dry their things outside when it's nice out. Located conveniently right next to the elevator.

B2 (P) - Parking/Garage

Ramp - Leads down from the ground floor, is very wide and can comfortably fit 2 large cars side by side.

Parking Lot - Can hold all the family cars (Victor's hot pink convertible, Yurio's custom tiger-print Jaguar convertible, Phichit's cutesy hamster-themed Volkswagen, Minami's painfully plain but honestly most useful family van, Yuuri's also very normal energy efficient car, and a handful of motorcycles courtesy of Otabek and Yurio's growing collection) plus that of guests.

Basement Recreation Room - Called that, but honestly mostly a garage/tinkering area. Generally considered to be Otabek's domain when he's around, he likes bringing in bikes and sometimes cars through the big ass doors they can drive through so he can fiddle with them. Nice couch area for people to watch.

Boiler Room - Bc every bigass house needs a bigass one right? *squints* IDK ARCHITECTURE MAN, just say it works 'kay...

You were absolutely uncomfortable. Your hips and back burned with discomfort. And there was nothing that you could do about it.

There was no epidural. No hospital. Nothing.

“You’re not suppose to be in here,” A voice called out. Dean flew across the room, hitting a wall harshly.

You tried not to panic, focusing on your breathing. You had to focus on giving birth to your child and just pray that her father or uncle don’t get killed in the process.

“I leave for two seconds and you two idiots show up.” The demon bellowed angrily. “You can never trust these low class demons.”

“You forgot about me,” Castiel announced his or killing the demon instantly.

“Is it me or did that feel too easy?” Dean groaned, getting off the ground.

“Can we worry about that later? This baby is coming here and now.” You stressed loudly, feeling the urge to start pushing.

“Dean, call 911.” Sam urged his brother, running to your side immediately.

“No, no,” You grunted, gripping Sam’s hand tightly. “Too many questions. Hospital later.”

You breathed in quickly as you pushed once, screaming at the intensity of the pain.

You could hear Sam talking to Dean and Cas, most likely telling them to do stuff.

Dean switched places with Sam, his face contorting in pain as you gripped onto his hand. Sam went to stand between your legs, probably having some clue on what to do. And Cas stood watch, to make made sure no other demons would appear.

The pushing seemed to go on for eternity but she was finally here.

“Hey,” You whispered softly, tears filling your eyes as Sam handed her to you.

She was wrapped with one of Dean’s flannel, soft brown hair on the top of her head.

“Oh I’m so glad you’re okay, baby girl.” You cooed to your daughter, her small hand latching onto your finger.

“What’s her name?” Dean asked quietly beside you, smiling at the interaction between you two.

“Marie,” You and Sam answered almost together.

Sam placed a gentle kiss on the top of your head and then repeated the action on his daughter.

“We should probably get you to the hospital.” Sam told you, and you nodded agreement.

out of all of them, esther is the best at reminding people to be organized and do self-care (tho she doesn’t always take care of herself)

she spends a lot of her time in her own head, she really values alone time, and she needs to recharge after she spends time around people

even people she loves

jack’s also adhd, had been diagnosed for a while and has almost all of the opposite symptoms as esther (which is another one of the reasons it took them so long to figure out esther)

jack always works better after he moves, if he runs a little or bounces a ball around or is shaking his legs, rocking on his heels

he makes lots of rolling rrr sounds and blows his lips when he’s frustrated

the pencil chewing ended in splinters and the pen chewing ended in ink all over so now he has a little necklace with a chewable shark

Over 2.2 bln people world-wide will be playing games in 2018. A hit game is fun but also an opportunity for deep learning and transformative experience. As technology, politics and urbanisation makes our lives more complex, games can help us to learn faster about things we need to know to thrive in this new post-truth world. Cybersalon.org will host a panel on how game creatives and social innovators can put spotlight on real-world challenges like state and work surveillance, fake news and anti-democratic practices of modern governments while providing inspiring game experience.

THOUGHTS: I thoroughly enjoyed this event. Attended out of sheer curiosity, as I saw the listing on Newspeak House. I hear about video games everywhere and have heard/watched interesting video game analysis, but have never really played video games or seen the appeal. I’m always interested in different creative mediums used to reach people and engage them beyond just entertainment purposes (while also providing the entertainment, but not letting that dilute the message behind it). So I definitely appreciated being introduced to all these video games that hope to make social impact. I found them all fascinating - I even bought the Red Strings Club! I also got to play a bit of Off Grid afterwards, which was quite cool. Looking forward to when it comes out. The panel was the highlight for me though, I found the discussion about video games as a medium informative and thought provoking.

games come out of something inherently not political - the arcade, for entertainment, to disappear into something entirely different

unity engine didn’t think it would politicise game dev but it has (was to democratise), so much easier to do it.
