In my class they're talking about autism rn, so some ND headcanons for the boys (main 4 + Butters)

Kenny: Definitely autistic it's so obvious to me for some reason Also PTSD. Dude dies 24/7 and has an awful family life what did you expect?

Kyle: OCD, I know it's a kinda popular headcanon but still

Stan: BPD don't ask why he gives the vibe Depression too because. C'mon it's Stan he's depression personified

Cartman: D.I.D. (this is @richierambles fault btw) (disclaimer: people with D.I.D. aren't usually assholes, they're mostly pretty cool. This is just a headcanon for a character that exhibits D.I.D.-like behaviours, who just happens to also be an asshole)

NICE my post got two notes anyways here's my thoughts on the pines fam handling over/understimulation as a neurodivergent and mentally ill family in my own personal canon

putting this under a readmore again because uhhh as always with my headcanons there's a lot and it'll probably be annoying to scroll thru over and over

if anyone else has any thoughts about this feel free 2 add onto this post <3 <3 <3 would love to hear it!!!!! ^_^

starting off with mabel, obviously she CRAVES stimulation so so badly and is constantly looking for something new to do, to the point where her default state is Slightly Overstimulated. i figure she also struggles with emotional dysregulation (even worse because mabel is literally just a kid and isnt equipped to handle heightened emotions with grace just yet sdfjjds) and she absolutely canNOT be understimulated or else she will explode the ENTIRE state of oregon. however a couple too many unpleasant sounds or textures or tastes at once and her entire day is ruined- well, it's not really, but it sure feels like it at the time. she starts angry crying and hitting things and only really calms down when she is completely separated from whatever was upsetting her or vice versa (her threshold for the amount of overstimulation she can handle before snapping probably lowers Significantly post-weirdmageddon), having waddles with her usually cheers her up a lot quicker though<3

ford is actually similar to her in a few aspects here, he too is running as far away from understimulation as possible, always sitting in his room tinkering with some new invention or running around catching some new creature to occupy himself. (he wasn't always like this! as a kid, between him and stan he was definitely and obviously the more docile one. but as an adult he feels the need to seek stimulation moreso because he needs to distract himself from his constant stream of often unpleasant thoughts) this has the unpleasant side effect of isolating himself from the people around him, but it's not intentional, it's just that busying himself with projects and studying the supernatural is his Default Solution to having nothing to do. it's comfortable for him. he also has the Thing where if he isn't explicitly invited to join someone, he doesn't feel comfortable doing so, even if he really wants to.

dipper and stan are completely different from mabel and ford in that they just. nobody ever told them that understimulation is not the default state of existing for everyone else??? so they just??? Put up with it regularly???? dipper stims frequently without realizing to combat this- clicking/chewing on pens over and over and pacing his room for example, but more often than not it isn't Quite Enough and he doesn't know Why. this is also why dipper's anxiety is So bad- sitting around without making an effort to distract himself from his many thoughts will often get him catastrophizing within minutes (him and ford probably bond over having Too Much Thought Head Full). in fact, if he didn't have mabel around to remind him to have fun and use his time wisely instead of getting stuck inside his own head for hours on end he would probably be a very different and much less emotionally stable person than he is in the show jsdjfjsda

stan doesn't stim very much except when he's genuinely scared or upset, in which case he is cracking his knuckles, gripping onto the closest fabric so hard it almost tears, pulling off his cuticles, picking at scabs etc etc (you can imagine how much he fucked up his skin in the days following both instances of him losing ford). he probably had very different habits when he was a kid though- because come on. stan was totally the poster child for audhd, constantly running around and being loud to satisfy his lil brain. however within a few years certain nd behaviors stop being "cute" to others and instead start attracting a shit ton of ridicule so now his only stims are ones which are inconspicuous and could be passed off as stress habits instead of being a clear sign of neurodivergence- plus he probably ended up developing shittier coping mechanisms while running around for 10 years after getting kicked out. but it's not like he can smoke or drink all the time with the kids (wendy and soos included) around though so his options are kinda limited

These are old doodles but say what. Let's a go, diagnosing fictional characters cause I can do that I want:

💙 Combined type, predominantly hyperactive

💙Always late because she has severe time blindness

💙 Gifted kid syndrome, was a top student in primary school, struggled in highschool

💙 Low sense of bodily awareness- doesn't realise she's sleepy until she's passing out, doesn't notice when she's in pain etc.

💙 Also socially awkward but masks it better with charm and bravado

💙 Makes a lot of mistakes and avoids tasks that make her have to think too hard; was never able to hold down normal job

💙 Chatter box; messy; thrives on chaos; very forgetful, easily distracted; impatient, interrupts people, impulsive & impulse spender; insomniac

💙 Two moods: couch potato or restless

💙 Fidgety stims: pen clicking, lip bitting/making faces, hair fiddling, foot tapping/bouncing, playing with trinkets she's found

💙 Long term hyperfixation/special interest in cars, boats, helicopters etc.

💙 Hyperfocus mode before a job means lots of long hours researching and neglecting her needs; struggles with hygiene sometimes

💙 Eats a lot of take out and instant food cause she forgets to cook

💙 Newly diagnosed cause Nadine kept mentioning ADHD, she took it as a joke at first but then realised it was a little too accurate.

THISTHISTHIS summarizes my thoughts after watching Mitchells vs. The Machines. Other stuff that's not in the article:

(Spoilers ahead ofc!)

Katie n Aaron are autistic as hell and THATS why they get along together and Aaron infodumps to Katie and Katie UNDERSTANDS.

UM KATIE has a GAY pride pin and a GF aaaaa

Hirsch played a minor role in the movie?! as in the alex hirsch from gravity falls?

The dad is CLEARLY an undiagnosed autistic

"don't let the world change you" as in don't mask your autistic traits

"it took a while for me to understand myself" because you're autistic!

Also autism runs in families

"Don't hide who you like" from Katie to Aaron. That line is so clever because Katie has experience with it because she's gay! Idk if the filmmakers meant it like that... but WAHTEVER

also Katie's gay but there's not a BIG DEAL made about it.

The theming is about their family being weird and not fitting in... because they're neurodiverse! and its about accepting your weirdness and embracing it in their case neurodiversity.

the ending is so clever!! I could go on about it but that would be long rant (/pos) so I'm not going to.

in summary 3/4 main characters are unintentionally autistic-coded as hell and you could read the theme as relating to autism.

also, the movie is so fricking good. go watch it.

Do you see Thirteen as having ADHD? She was the first face of The Doctor this face saw. I have ADHD and possibly ASD as well, and I absolutely LOVE her and relate to her. She helped me through tough times. Always had me stimming from excitement every episode. I always looked forward to watching her new episodes. After five years of waiting for her boxset, I finally have all of New Who on DVD. I am currently binging her era. Still so exciting! I can see myself in her and I saw she was written intentionally with ASD traits. I saw a Reddit post from a med student who listed out the ADHD traits. I saw your post on Ten and Eleven being Neurodivergent so I figured I'd ask your input :)

Oh, absolutely she's neurodivergent!!! I consider all of the doctors to have Autism & ADHD. I wrote This post about her ADHD & autism after series 12 I need to update it to include the specials & flux. I'm sorry it's not more up-to-date!

I'm currently writing about her C-PTSD & BPD symptoms analysis which I'll finally have done years too late 🙃. But I'm liking what I have so far on that! I'll post that here and when I update her ASD & ADHD chapter I will post that too. Though like seriously I have NO idea how long that will take. (I have so many writing projects it hurts lol)

My neurodivergent Doctor Who-related writings are posted under the tag The Doctor Study here & On AO3 under the same name! If you look through tag/series there is an alysis of 9 in it as well! along with most of the classic doctors if that sounds interesting to you at all
