Warnings: ??? This is one of the first things I've ever written that isn't a school paper of some kind, which should be a warning in itself; otherwise not much. Implied food poisoning. Excessive use of dashes and semicolons. Self-indulgent angst/fluff bc I've had a stomachache for 3 weeks now (but no spice bc ✨idk how to write it ✨)

It had been nearly a week since you’d seen him last.

Din had landed the aircraft in a secluded meadow on a small, backwater, Maker-knows-where planet a few days ago in pursuit of his latest bounty. You’d absently kissed the side of his helmet before he left, assuring him that you would be more than able to keep yourself occupied while he was gone. There was a small river nearby for you to do the laundry that had been accumulating while the two of you had been in hyperspace, and the climate was conducive to line-drying everything once you were done. Not to mention the mending you knew was piling up (Din was notorious for ripping the arms of his flight suits, much to your dismay), plus you needed to replenish the first aid supplies, and buy food, and…

Even through the impenetrable beskar, you could feel Din’s eyes glazing over as you rattled off your prospective to-do list, and you smirked up at his visor.

“Go on then, I’ll be fine.”

“Be careful while I’m gone.”

“That should be my line.” You glanced over your shoulder and narrowed your eyes at the growing pile of clothing that threatened to spill out of your broom closet bedroom and onto the main deck of the ship. “At least I know that your dirty socks probably won’t kill me in the meantime.”

“Hmph.” The modulator made it hard to tell sometimes, but you thought you could hear the faintest smile in Din’s voice. “I’ll be back as soon as I can.”

“I know.” A beat passed.

“Close your eyes.”

You squeezed your eyes shut, scrunching your eyebrows as you did. A faint hiss let you know that Din had removed his helmet with one hand, and you felt him gently tilting your chin up with the other. Soft lips pressed tenderly against the crease in your forehead, and your heart clenched in your chest at the sweetness of this gesture –the sweetness of this man – you couldn’t see. You tilted your chin up instinctively in an attempt to catch his mouth with yours. Din snorted, and a warm puff of air landed across your nose, causing you to adjust course in your path upward; you sighed into his mouth when you reached it, and your arms snaked up past Din’s scruffy jaw and twined through his soft curls. The two of you stayed like that for a long minute before Din, finally, broke away. You sighed at the absence of his touch, but patiently kept your eyes closed until you heard the hiss of Din’s helmet repressurizing around him. You waited another beat before opening your eyes again, just in case.

“I’ll be back.”

Maker take your kriffing to-do list. You had known it would take a while to mend all the holes you'd noticed lately in Din's clothes (plus one you'd found in your favorite work shirt last week), but you had severely underestimated the amount of time it would take to wash all the dirty laundry you and Din had piled up over the last couple weeks. By the time you’d scrubbed and wrung out every article of clothing to within an inch of its life – and hung it out to dry on a makeshift line attached to the tie-down hook under the wing – the sun was only a handswidth above the treeline and you were never going to make it to the market today. The nearest village on this skughole planet only convened three days a week to sell and barter, and you’d just missed the second day; you hoped Din was safe, wherever he was… and that it would take him at least another day and a half to return, so you could (hopefully) replenish the pitiful store of first aid supplies, caf and food remaining on the ship. It didn’t help that the majority of the bounties whose pucks Din picked up all seemed to have the brilliant idea to hide out on the most miserable planets in the galaxy. Couldn’t one of those kriffing mudscuffers decide to camp out somewhere like Coruscant or Scarif? You supposed you should be thankful, at least, that Din had yet to pick up a puck on a bounty hiding on a planet like Hoth. But still. You were tired of trying to refill supplies on backwater planets that didn't have half the items you needed.

With that, you stomped up the ramp and onto the main deck, the clipped, metallic thunks matching your mood. Food – you needed to eat. You spun left and ducked into the galley – also a glorified broom closet – crouching down to peer into the tiny cabinet and see what options you had. Shit. You really had needed to make it to the market today, as your inspection revealed three ration packs that ranged from slightly to very out-of-date. You picked up the least-expired packet and eyed it suspiciously for a long moment, then shrugged. Beggars can’t be choosers. You dropped the packet into the nano-heater, flipped the switch, then stood up to pull a bowl and spoon down onto the tiny counter.

Once your food was ready, you climbed up into the cockpit — bowl held precariously in your dominant hand as you scaled the ladder — and ran a quick radar scan to make sure that your laundry would be safe outside overnight. You had made that mistake only once before, and the seething fury you felt re-scrubbing mildewy flight suits the next day was more than enough to teach you your lesson. Once you were reasonably assured that the weather would hold, you sat back in the pilot’s seat to consume your dinner and watched the sky fade from orange to crimson to indigo.

The next morning you woke up feeling miserable. You hunched over in your bunk, curling your spine to alleviate the pressure on your stomach, which felt like it was trying to turn itself inside out. The sudden movement made you clap a hand across your mouth, and you had a horrible moment where you considered whether you’d make it to the ‘fresher in time if you got up to make a run for it. You breathed shortly through your nose, willing the spell to pass. In-in-in, pause. Out-out-out, pause. After a long while, it did, leaving you to debate whether getting yourself some water was worth the struggle of sitting up and climbing off the cot. You stretched your legs out slightly and your stomach heaved a second time. Later, then. You retracted your knees to their original position and closed your eyes.

The next time you woke up feeling impossibly worse, with a headache now battling your stomach for your attention. Blergh. You heard footsteps and the distinct clanging of metal handcuffs against beskar get louder, then fade away. A muffled yell, a thump, a loud hissing noise – that would be the carbonite chamber; Din caught a live bounty, then – and silence. You heard Din call your name once, then twice; you groaned out a response that echoed around in your head far more harshly than you had sounded aloud. The footsteps grew louder, and your head throbbed. You heard the metallic slide of the door in its track as Din peered down at you lying in his bunk.

“Sweet girl, I– are you alright?”

“Hnnnnnngh,” you responded, eloquently.

“What’s the matter?”

“Stomach… hurts. Head hurts.” You winced at the sound of his footsteps as he stepped into the small space and knelt down, pulling one of his gloves off to check your temperature. He swiped a few sweaty hairs away from your temple, then gently laid the back of his hand across your forehead.

“You’re burning up. Hang on a second.” He stood up and backed out of the sleeping area.

“Wait,” you croaked, but you could already hear his boots thunking away toward the front of the ship. You laid your head back down.

A few minutes later, you felt rather than heard Din return. He cradled the back of your head up off the pillow slightly and whispered, “Drink.” You sipped hesitantly at the water he tilted for you; and when your stomach gave no signs of revolting, you gulped at it faster.

“Easy there. Don’t drink it too fast,” Din warned.

“Thanks,” you rasped. “Sorry.”

“Hey– it’s okay,” he said. “It’s okay. I got you.”

Once you had finished the cup of water, Din laid your head back down.

“Will you be alright on your own for a few minutes?”

“Yeah, ‘ll be fine,” you mumbled.

“You sure?” His helmet tilted slightly.

“Yeah… ‘m just gonna… close my eyes for a minute.”

“Ok then.” Din reached down to peel his glove off the ground, then stood up with the empty cup and padded away.

You lifted your head up just enough to watch him leave, and noticed that the Mandalorian was dressed in everything but his boots. So that’s how he came back so quietly. Your mouth quirked up at the sight of Din in full armor from his head to, well, slightly above his toes; but as your head dropped onto the bunk again, your heart lurched at the thought that he had taken off his boots just so he could walk a bit quieter. For you.

Outside, Din quickly pulled down the dried laundry waving along your makeshift clothesline. While the forecast yesterday had predicted clear skies overnight, he’d felt the air pressure lowering as he hauled his latest quarry back to the aircraft this morning. He’d been concerned when he saw your clothes still fluttering outside; the last time you’d left the laundry out and it had rained unexpectedly, everyone within a 5-meter radius of you had suffered the consequences for nearly a week. He knew there was no way you would have left anything outside in the increasingly overcast weather, and he had felt uneasy as he’d entered the ship earlier with the quarry in tow. It only grew worse when he’d called out your name and heard only a faint groan in reply; his heart had faltered under his breastplate, and he all but ran toward your voice. When you told him it was just a stomachache, he felt almost queasy with relief. You would be fine. He shook his head.

With a large pile of laundry now spilling up and over his pauldrons, Din stepped gingerly up the ramp and back into the ship. He dropped the clothes down onto a relatively clean crate, then took his boots off again to walk over to his bunk to check on you. You were dozing with your hands tucked around your head, curled in on yourself as if it would ease your discomfort. Under his helmet, Din frowned slightly; he felt as if he'd swallowed a heavy stone. Although perhaps his stomach only ached because he was hungry. After satisfying himself that you were truly asleep, he headed to the galley.

Maker help him. Beneath his helmet, Din scowled at the expiration dates on the two remaining ration packs. He’d told you not to worry about the credits when you’d gone out to buy food last time… was that three bounties ago, or four? Admittedly, he hadn’t been keeping as close an eye on these things since you’d begun handling them. He mostly ate when you were either sleeping or in the ‘fresher, which he only knew because you usually handed him the bowl wherever he was, announced where you were headed, and then left. He had always assumed you ate beforehand, but now he wasn’t so sure. He thought back to before he’d left the ship chasing this latest bounty. If he remembered correctly, the next market would be tomorrow morning. He could buy you proper food then. Din sighed, and turned toward the caf machine instead.

One depressingly watery cup of caf later, he stepped back into his –now your– sleeping area and gently set down some water next to the bunk. He paused for a moment, then spun on his heel to leave – and froze. Din tilted his head down to where your sleeping hand had reached out to grasp at the pant leg of his flight suit. “Stay,” you whispered. “Please.” His heart rate skyrocketed. It’s just the caf, Djarin; she must be dreaming. Calm down.

You’re fully awake approximately two nanoseconds after the words have left your mouth. Kriff. You’d been sure that you were dreaming, and dream you, apparently, had zero inhibitions about initiating the soft, fluffy, clingy things that awake you only fantasized about. The second your thumb and forefinger touched soft canvas, though, you realized your mistake. You always told yourself you had no ulterior expectations of your relationship with Din; you traveled with him, repaired his ship, mended his clothes, and so on, so that he could focus on hunting bounties. Sometimes he (and you, a voice chimed unhelpfully) needed physical release, and you helped with that too. Long days, weeks, months in hyperspace would do that to anyone, you told yourself. Don’t read into it.

Din still hadn't moved. Pleasepleaseplease don’t realize I’m awake; Maker, I will never let myself get carried away imagining us together during a really boring flight again, I swear— your internal plea to the universe cut off abruptly. He was moving… closer? You felt a gloved hand encompass yours, gently removing its grip from his pant leg and setting it down next to your pillow where the other one lay. No. You couldn’t take this. Kriffing Maker, just leave so I don’t have to keep pretending to sleep through this humiliation. You heard the soft swish of canvas again, felt the sudden, indistinct warmth of a large body hovering somewhere just above your head. You fought every instinct in your body to keep your breath light and even. If you weren’t so determined to keep up your pretense, you’re not sure whether you would be hyperventilating at the hot musk of Din flooding your senses right now, or completely frozen and not breathing at all. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. The warmth moved closer, past your shoulder, and solidified into a physical form easing into the bunk behind you. Din’s weight pushing into the fabric of the thin mattress caused you to slide backwards into his chest with a soft whumph, and this time you did freeze for a second. Exhale. Inhale. The two of you stayed like that for a long moment, your shallow breaths gradually slowing to match his until the two of you inhaled and exhaled in unison.

“Is this ok?” Din whispered.

You debated whether to answer him or not.

“If it’s not, I’ll leave. …I-I’ll sleep in the cockpit tonight.”

“No– yes, it’s okay– please don’t leave–” your words came out in a jumbled whisper.

“Sweet girl. I’ll stay.”

Din has a very long night.

Up until this point, everything the two of you had done had been purely physical. Certainly quite a bit of feeling in the moment, but no feelings, plural. At least at first. If Din was being honest with himself, he’d fallen for you a few weeks into your arrangement, and had been resolutely (and futilely) trying to avoid them ever since. But tonight… he knew he should’ve just left, since you’d probably been dreaming when you’d said the words. He couldn’t, though. He couldn’t leave, just as he couldn’t help the acrid pang of worry he’d felt when he’d returned to the ship. Just as he couldn’t help trying to ease your discomfort now.

Once he’d laid down, he could feel your heartbeat hammering away in your chest; you were awake, then. It had taken him a very long moment to work up the courage to ask you if this is what you had wanted. If he was what you wanted. When you hadn’t answered at first, his heart dropped. I knew it, I shouldn’t have hoped… He didn’t want you to feel uncomfortable, though, and so he had spoken again. The speed of your response to his offer to leave was soothing, but. Don’t read into it, Djarin. It doesn’t mean anything. Just that she doesn’t want to be alone right now.

It doesn’t help him fall asleep any faster, though.

The next morning, you wake up to the faint clink of a cup being set down next to you.

“G'morning… what time is it?” You open your eyes blearily to see Din leaning over you, once again dressed in full armor (and boots, you notice).

“Nearly midday. Here, drink this. How do you feel?”

You nod to yourself and reach for the cup, then freeze. “Shit– the market–”

“Is almost over. Don’t worry– I got most of the stuff on your list.”

You blink at that. “You… what?”

The helmet tilts down at you. “They didn’t have the kind of caf you like, so I got something similar. I’m not sure what rootleaf is, either, and the locals didn’t seem to recognize it…”

“I… thank you.” You take a small sip of the golden drink in your hands. Whatever Din brought you is bright and pungent, but sweet; it burns slightly in the back of your throat. It’s good. You drain the cup. “What is this?”

“Uh… I’m not sure what it’s called. It’s made of a local root and some spices. I didn’t catch the names, but the woman who sold it said it was good for stomach ache.”

Your stomach flips at the thought of Din asking a vendor to make this for you. “Thank you, Din.”

“How are you feeling?” he asks.

“Better today. My back hurts, though. Not sure why.”

Din picks the now-empty cup out of your hands and sets it once more on the shelf beside the bunk. “Roll over.”

Doing as he says brings you face-to-face with the far wall of the small sleeping area. Din stands behind you, and you can hear the clinks and creaks of various pieces of metal and leather being unbuckled and set down. You hold your breath as you feel him ease himself down onto the bunk, and you exhale a little louder than you meant when you feel him place a hand on your shoulder. He slowly rubs up and down your spine, pushing at the tension in the long muscles of your back, and you practically melt into the mattress. When Din pushes at a particularly large knot below your shoulder, you emit a rather... forceful hnnnnnngh. To your embarrassment, you hear AND feel him chuff in amusement behind you.

“Does that feel good, sweet girl?”

“Shut– oooooooh. Shut up. Do that again.” Din’s hand doesn’t move. “Please.” The pressure instantly resumes, and you shudder an exhale.

“You know I’ll always make you feel good.”

That shuts you up for a second. You'll... always? No. Don’t read into it.

The two of you lie in silence, Din’s roving ministrations eventually slowing into long, featherlight strokes up and down your spine. Your breathing slows too, and you are just sinking into a hazy light-sleep when you imagine you hear Din whisper into the back of your head.

“I love you.”

I love you too, you think, dreamily.

“Say that again,” Din rumbles.

You freeze like you’ve just been doused in ice water. Fuck. “I-I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean- it just slipped o–”

“Say it again.”

“I… I said I love you.”

“I love you too, sweet girl.”

You’re glad you’re still facing the wall, because your jaw pops open into a comically round O. In shock, you dig your shoulder into the mattress and flip over so you’re now staring up into the impenetrable black T of Din’s visor. For the second time this morning, you’re at a loss for words.

“You… what?”

“You want me to say it again?” Din’s arm snakes around the small of your waist and hauls you close until you’re pressed flat against him. Even through the modulator, his voice deepens further. “I. Love. You.”

Jay: I’m getting the feeling that those reasons aren’t summer glacier skiing in St Moritz and the melted mountain snow making the Rhine Falls a must visit

Jay: so, which boy has keys to his parents' holiday place and how long have you wanted this scenario to play out?

Mattie: Whilst those are all undoubtedly excellent reasons, definitely worthy of a best-selling beach read, so maybe you should pitch them to dad instead actually…

Mattie: You know our actual mum ended up having those twin girls, when I was like 3 and you were what, 9 or 10? Obviously you know but anyway

Mattie: And we’ve not had contact with them because it might make us super emo and dad and the grandparents didn’t really want us having contact with real mum because it’d be damaging, potentially

Mattie: Well, I’m finally gonna do it, schools over, I’m an adult now too

Mattie: And she isn’t Benny’s mum, they aren’t his sisters, so I don’t feel like I have to wait for him to age up to do this

Mattie: They board in Switzerland, assumedly they’ll be back for the Summer, they have a house here too but I’d like to go see them there, as that’s where they spend most of their time

Mattie: If they want to, grandma has to set it up but she will now I’ve said I want to

Jay: Mattie

Mattie: I’ve been thinking about it seriously since I was about 16

Mattie: but then they would’ve been 13 and I don’t think anyone needs any more potential angst and drama at that age, it wouldn’t have been fair

Mattie: You can’t say you’ve never thought about it, surely?

Jay: What did dad say when you told him?

Mattie: He didn’t say I couldn’t, or shouldn’t

Mattie: Obviously he had plenty of words of warning about her

Mattie: and I respect his experience, of course

Jay: but you’re going to do it anyway

Mattie: It’s different

Mattie: I’m not going to be in a relationship with her, or ask her to raise any children

Mattie: I just want to meet her

Jay: Meeting her is inviting her to have a relationship with you, why would you want to open that door? It’s closed for a reason

Mattie: Because I want to know her, who she is

Mattie: even if it’s bad, she’s still half of me, us

Mattie: And if she was that keen to form a relationship with us, she would’ve tried long before now and we’d know about it

Mattie: That’s evidently off the table

Jay: Off the table when she didn’t want it, but when you show up wanting it, that’s her way in, that’s who she is

Mattie: Like my whole life and I’ll be 19 soon

Mattie: She’s clearly got her own life that she’s happy with, she’s still with the twins dad

Mattie: I’m not saying you have to come if you don’t want to

Jay: People don’t change that much

Jay: she’s happy, they’re bound to be miserable

Mattie: All the more reason to meet them

Mattie: but we don’t know that, Grandma would’ve told me if they were, I think

Mattie: and done something about that, more to the point

Mattie: And Dad changed, people can, I don’t think that blanket statement is fair

Jay: No, she tried to change him and couldn’t, he met Ava and was allowed to be himself

Jay: Grandma has kept us away from them as agreed, if she really thought you should meet, she’d have done something about that

Mattie: She didn’t want us to be jealous, as kids

Mattie: and that makes sense

Mattie: but I’m not now and I’m not trying to steal their life or anything like that

Mattie: I know she did a lot wrong, to dad, to us and in general but that doesn’t change the fact I want to do this

Jay: It doesn’t make sense to me that you’d want to do this

Mattie: I know you feel differently

Mattie: and I get it, for you

Mattie: It’s just weird to me that they’re out there and I’ve basically never met her, never mind the twins

Mattie: Why wouldn’t I do that, if I have the chance to

Jay: Them maybe, but she doesn’t need to be involved if Grandma is helping you

Mattie: I have no idea if she will want to see me

Mattie: but I want to know that I reached out to her too

Jay: Like you said, if she wanted to, she could’ve

Jay: I don’t want you getting hurt

Mattie: and I do appreciate the concern, no sarcasm intended

i am slowly feeling better thank you - i'm still have trouble with sleep but i hope that it gets better soon. 😢😢😢 your words. you are super amazing too and so kind. i feel we have very similar tendencies too and it's a really good thing sometimes but can also be a not so good thing. idk if you've tried this but i'm trying to try less hard? not that like i don't want to work hard but it feels like sometimes i cross that line where it's too much and it actually makes it worse? like to let go enough to be able to appreciate my work as opposed to try and kill myself over it? idk i don't know if it will work but i want to try? i've just moved to a new agent/rep that will hopefully be better for my mental health just cause they seem nicer and will stress me out less.

your job sounds really thorough though. do you enjoy it? i 100% agree with you though! i like to buy good quality clothes too, but that's probably because i really don't buy loads either so each piece feels like an investment? what did you get? is it warm where you are? or have you been investing in more wintry stuff? i so so rarely get multiple versions of albums! i always really to but then i wonder if i;m going overboard and if i end up looking at the photobooks? i got the comma and xiesta photobooks last year and now i'm not sure if i wanna sell them on to a monbebe that will appreciate them more? hmm just me overthinking probably? leather platform shoes sound AMAZING. hahah i do the same though if i know i want to spend some money so i usually wait for the following month sometimes even though i know i'm gonna get the thing anyway? haha.

ahhhhh 😢😢😢i love you lots and honestly i was so scared my last year of uni too. i don't think older generations get how much harder it is for people our age when we leave uni and stuff to just start a live that is nice and happy and fulfilling. so you're not alone and honestly even now i feel the same way just after i left uni. my job is just okay !! i won't be doing this in the future but it's nice to know that for a fact i don't think i could work in an office setting like this for the rest of my life HHH but it's okay, i don't mind organizing things for other ppl esp if it will help the company in the long run !!! and about my clothes SLKDFJ i totally agree !!! like we said we don't like our bank account hitting below a certain number so everything i buy is like an "investment" like u said hehe so most of the things i buy for example jeans are over $70 for me but i know i'll probably go a whole year not buying another pair and wearing those most likely everyday lol u know ? it's very warm where i am (most days lol) so i've been buying some light weight clothing !!! i don't like wearing jean shorts or anything like that, my fav material to wear in the summer is linen and cotton so i've been buying a lot of flowy linen pants <3 i got a pair from the store madewell, and bc i was on holiday this week i went to this one swimsuit store called everything but water and they sell pricier swimwear but i get so fed up trying to go to cheaper stores to look for swim tops bc i have bigger boobs hhhh and nothing makes me feel comfortable in my own skin so i don't mind spending money on something i feel comfortable in !! anyways i bought a bathing suit from there and then i think that's it ?? i was going to buy some jo malone perfume but it's so expensive so i didn't ;____;

ngl i really, really want a snake...it was a toss up between hognose and sand boa before, but now I’m positive the one I want is a sand boa.

hognose, while absolutely adorable, are technically venomous (well, like how a tarantula would be, not like a snake that could /kill/ you) but I figure that it’s not a matter of “if” you get bit, it’s a matter of when, even if they are docile.  I just don’t want to have to deal with a swollen hand or possible allergic reaction.

Sand boas on the other hand, are very much like a hognose--slow moving, SMALL, not venomous, and also super docile. They stay on mice, which is nice. And eating only once a week or so makes snakes pretty affordable (I remember my gecko costing a lot of money because crickets).

The thing is, I quit my job because of some things i have to handle up north (its the usual trying to get my grandparents house fixed up to sell--but we are ALMOST DONE) anyway I don’t want to bring up about a snake in a transition period so I think I’ll wait--and hopefully I can get a job/internship by the time we come back.

I want to get one at an expo, because like. I want to make sure it’s captive bred & y’know be able to see the snake I’m purchasing and the one I’m familiar with comes around twice a year so like...I think that’d be a good time to make a goal for one???  

Also my mom /hates/ snakes so much, but I’ve done a ton of research. Idk if I’ll be moving out by 2022 (like if I do, I guess there’d be nothing stopping me from buying a snake myself unless I’m in a location that doesn’t allow pets), so I’ll try to ease her into it over the summer. 

30 Day Thinspo Challenge

Yoooo. . . I haven’t been online in a few days, got a little busy. If anyone missed me, I’m sorry bout that lol. I’ll just try to get caught up.

Day 9: Did people ever make comments about your weight in a negative way?

Oh for sure. The first time I could remember was in fourth grade, I think? And it was the same remark through middle school about how fat my thighs were. Not just schoolmates said it. Why oldest sister and mom even hinted at it with how they wouldn’t let me wear the same type of clothes other kids could wear because I had more fat than they did, which looked sluttier, ig. 

Day 10: What was the hardest thing you gave up during this weight loss?

I can’t really think if much I gave up as far as food or drinks go, but, I’m unemployed because of the virus so I was selling my plasma twice a week regularly and I haven’t been doing much of that because I’m afraid of fainting while there but idk might go tomorrow anyway because I need gas money lmao.

Day 11: Your favorite thinspo blog and why.

I don’t wanna tag her because her blog isn’t weight loss/ed related, in fact, she claims to be recovered so I’ll leave her alone lol.

Day 12: What do you normally eat?

Mainly eggs. Also a big fan of spinach and craisons. I used to be a big green smoothie person before I moved because now I don’t have a blender lol. 

My biggest food weakness is burritos. Like those huge ass burritos you get at like chipotle or costa vida. Those bitches have hella calories but everytime someone offers, I can’t say no :(. Not gonna lie, I had one this week while I was offline.

Day 13: Are you losing weight in a healthy or unhealthy way?

Unhealthy for sure, sorry mom. I don’t have an ed but my diets are always unhealthy because for some reason (I’m lazy), I’m only able to lose weight when I restrict under 900 cals. When I first started losing weight, around grade eleven, I was eating near 800 cal everyday, even while in school.

Day 14: What’s you UGW? When do you expect to reach it?

My goal weight is like 117 llbs. I think it’s a realistic one for me, I could probably maintain that weight, it’s still considered a healthy bmi for my height, and I don’t think I’d have any health problems there. 

Hopefully by this fall I’ll reach it! I could probably reach it sooner but I know damn well my friends and family love to socially eat and that fucks me up the most!

Day 15: Are you vegan or vegetarian? If so, has this helped you lose weight? If not, would you ever consider turning vegan or vegetarian?

Yes! I haven’t eaten meat for about 5 years now. At first I was vegan and I maintained my weight which I’m sure is because I mostly ate potatoes lol. But now I’m just vegetarian and I have more low carb options so that makes it easier for me to lose weight. Recommend for most people tbh, I love it and don’t miss meat at all. . . unless I start thinking about Wendy’s nuggets.

2019 year in review

So… The 2010’s are almost over. Huh. What a decade it’s been. Hard to comprehend how much has changed in 10 years. I can barely believe that I was in high school at the beginning of this decade, and now I’m a college graduate with 2 degrees who’s been working at the same job for the last 3 years. But trying to summarize the past 10 years in a single post is a good way to give myself an existential crisis, so let’s not do that! Instead, let’s just focus on 2019 because there has been more than enough shit that’s happened to me in this year to talk about.

PART 1 OF 2: 2019 AND 2020 GOALS AND RESOLUTIONS

Huh, looking back through my archives, I apparently didn’t make a tumblr post about my goals this year. I definitely had some, though. Lemme list ‘em off real quick, and then we’ll go through them point by point.

Okay, first off, the student loans. I was actually SO CLOSE to successfully completing this one bUT THEN MY CAR HAD TO BE A WHINEY PISS BABY AND HAVE ITS ALTERNATOR DIE ON ME WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN A BLOW OUT THREE WEEKS LATER.

GOD, if I had to summarize this year in two words, for me it would be “Car troubles”. I swear I spent more on auto repair in the first third of this year than I ever have just freakin’ OWNING a car. All four of my tires had to be replaced, my alternator failed and my car literally just SHUT OFF while I was driving, and I was barely able to coast into a gas station. Both my front breaks and rear breaks were worn down the metal and I only learned this when my car was barely able to stop after I had to slam the petal down full force!  I went in for an oil change, and they found some problems and then I didn’t get my car back for three days! I don’t even like owning a car! I hate driving! I hate my country’s refusal to provide universal, free public transportation! I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS!

Oh-kay… number 2. Finish some song comics. I didn’t finish any. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t work on them. I have made tiny progress, but that’s certainly better than no progress. One of these song comics I hope to be realizes is going to be a collab with one of my friends. It’ll be a long-time coming as it’s pretty low priority for the both of us, but if anyone else out there was disappointed with KH3’s ending, we’re gonna have ya’ covered… With SONG!

3. Make some redbubble art. I actually did this one! Not in the way I expected, but I added (technically) 3 new designs to my redbubble in the middle of the year. If you like butterflies and dragons, I got some product for you~!

Number 4, finish a script for a game I want to make. I… thought about this. I thought about this a lot, but I never put pen to paper, so… oops. It almost happened! I debated making this my main writing project for NaNoWriMo this year, but ended up having more inspiration for another story. Maybe next year? (god, I hope not. I don’t want to wait a full year just to write something)

Number 5, practice ASL. I just straight up didn’t do this and I only have myself to blame. Still keepin’ up that Danish Duolingo streak, though. 4 years going strong and not a day missed yet.

Number 6, sew some stuffed animals. Again, another one I just straight up didn’t do, but I have an excuse of trying to save money while my car crashed and burned in every other sense except literal this year. Hopefully 2020 will be different. I’ll definitely be able to pay off this last loan within the first half of 2020, and then I can start saving for whatever I want to buy.

Finish some fan fictions was number 7, and I did this! Well, I only finished, 1, but it was a story I’ve been working on for over 3 years, and it came out to over 200 THOUSAND words long, which is the longest thing I’ve ever written, and I’m quite proud of myself. Now that the big story is out of the way, and I’ve gotten into a good rhythm of working on Ghost Switch, maybe I can squeeze in some short writing sessions more frequently. (either that, or just wait for my car to break down again and then go on a writing spree in a pepboys. The lord and the fan fic discord know that’s solely why I finished my other fic this year)

Speaking of Ghost Switch, working on it was a goal this year too, and I did that! I kept it up all year and took a vacation in November and it was wonderful. While the major plot points have been in place since before I started drawing, I still need to script each arc beyond Snowdin, but hey, by the time we get there, it’ll be 2022 so I got time. (Note, don’t do this, kids. Script your stories and comics thoroughly before publishing. The road I’m on is paved with misery and pain and it will only end in tears unless I change lanes soon)

Number 9, amvs. Do people make AMVs anymore? Idk… the last one I made was... Jesus, 5 years ago? (it was a gravity falls/fall out boy crossover, if you were curious) I’ve been wanting to do 2 more for just as long, but in order for me to do that, I’d have to spend time re-watching the shows to find the footage, and then actually edit them together, and I just don’t…. feel like it. Maybe someday, but not any day soon.

10; do some original writing. I did this! For nanowrimo! I wrote the first draft of some original fiction I’ve been planning for a year or two now and it completely sucks! But it’s on paper now and I’m happy. Will I revise and edit it? Sure, but not for a while. I want to let it sit and forget about it and look at it with new eyes months from now so I can be sure I can make it better when time comes to rewrite.

11, make illustrations for my fan fics. Now that You Monster is done, I want to go back and add pictures to it. I didn’t do any this year, but I did keep a list of scenes I wanted to draw, so I have plenty of ideas to do as warm up sketches next year~ I kinda want to stream them~

So, that was 11 goals, and I successfully fulfilled 4 of them! That’s! Not a very good ratio… QmQ So, goals for 2020. Some I’m gonna keep from this year, some I’m gonna drop and some I’m gonna add. In short I would like to,

1)      Finish paying off that last student loan 2)      Put more stuff on my redbubble 3)      Illustrate my own fan fics 4)      Sew at least one stuffed animal 5)      Make an enamel pin 6)      Read one new book a month 7)      Write one page a day/Complete at least one new fan fic 8)      Learn Python or C# for the game I want to make 9)      Finish fully scripting Ghost Switch 10)   Boost my patreon

Most of these I think are pretty self-explanitory, but I’ll go into detail just a bit because I’m on a roll and typing my thoughts helps me feel less alone in the middle of the night when you’re super tired and you know you should probably go to sleep, but the toddler in you is throwing a tantrum and doesn’t wanna go to sleep just yet, but you can’t fight the progression of time either way.

Number 1- I should be able to reach this goal by the end of March. End of June at the absolute latest. Once that goal is met, my secret new year’s resolution will be unlocked as well!

Number 2- I want to put more art of my OCs on redbubble. These OCs are tied to the game I want to make. There’s already some art of them up there, but I want at least one piece for each character.

Number 3- Mostly for You Monster. Embrace the cardinal rule of fan fic and apply it to fan art. If you want to read about see art about certain ideas, scenarios, or what-ifs, you gotta make it yourself.

Number 4- I have 3 potential ideas to sew. One is definitely leagues easier than the other two and will probably be chosen if/when I have the time and materials.

Number 5- This year I got really, REALLY into the idea of making enamel pins. Unfortunately it’s a pretty big investment (like, $350 to make 100 pins you  might not even sell). If this happens, it’ll probably be towards the end of the year, and if I get enough interest. I’m currently torn between making an original enamel pin and one based off Undertale. We’ll just have to see where this goes.

Number 6- Back in 2018 when I paid off one of my many student loans, I rewarded myself by spending over 200 dollars in used books. All these books had a theme; they were focused on dragons because I have a problem. I have not yet read a single one of these books I have bought, and I would like to fix that. I have, like, 20 unread dragon books, and even if I only read 12 out of 20, I would consider that an amazing accomplishment and money well spent.

Number 7- I currently have about 8 different WIPs I could work on. (well, I don’t know if I can even call them wips. More like, a general idea and a title written down.) I want to build good writing habits, and if I can write just 200 words a day, hell, even 200 words a week and just one of my 8 stories done, I would consider this goal met.

Number 8- I’m torn between making my game in unity or ren’py. I know jack shit about both. Ren’py is more user friendly, but unity will allow me more customization. (Lol, can you guess what kind of game I want to make yet?)

Number  9- I really just want the full story to be done and written incase anything goes horribly terribly wrong in my life and I find myself unable to continue making ghost switch in comic form. Then at least I can finish the story by other means, you know?

Number 10- It always surprises me every month when I get that patreon email saying I got paid. Sure, I don’t even make double digits on it, but it still awes me enough to know that people out there like my work enough to throw me a tip. I can’t thank my patrons enough for supporting me and I hope to one day be in such a good place I can update my comic/song comics/writing frequently enough without need for goals or milestones. But until that magical day arrives, money is always a great incentive for anything, I suppose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 ALRIGHT. PART 2 OF 2: SHIT THAT HAPPENED TO ME IN 2019

Cheesus crust what a year. This year started off great! Back in late January Kingdom Hearts 3 FINALLY released, and let me tell you a little story. Back in the summer of 2006 I was a 13 year old middle schooler with no way of making money other than by doing house hold chores at a rate of 25 cents a task. A few weeks ago, I had a sleep over at a friend’s house and they let me play this weird game called “Kingdom Hearts” and god, I was instantly hooked on it. That summer, I did over 800 chores, enough to earn myself 200$ and buy myself a playstation 2 (just in time for the ps3 to come out, gg me) The only games I had for the ps2 were KH1, 2, Re:CoM and Okami, and I beat them all… except Okami. Miffed that the PS3 wouldn’t allow for backwards compatibility, little 13-year-old me made a promise. I looked myself in the mirror and said “I will not buy the next playstation console until KH3 comes out, AND BOY that was probably a good choice for me to make with my level of gaming. I’m even less of a casual gamer than the average casual gamer, but I have been waiting 13 years for this piece of closure, and I even told my friends and family that “the day Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out is the day I will buy a playstation 4”. My dad apparently thought this was the funniest shit, because he literally took the day off from work that Friday to drive me on base to get the game and console (he thought it would be less crowded than a regular walmart, I suppose). I paid $400 on a ps4 pro while he bought me the game. Again, I have an impecible sense of timing seeing as the PS5 is now right on the horrizion, but just like before, I’m not buying a new console until the next KH game is released. See you in 2045, sony~. While I was at the gamestop on base, I also picked up Okami HD and The Last Guardian. For all of February and even early March, I took my time playing through KH3. And…! It was the best disappointment I’ve ever played. After a month away from gaming, I started The Last Guardian and finished it in a couple weeks. I love trico and would die for him, but trying to get 100% completion on that game is udder insanity. Okami, HD, however… again after a month break after finishing TLG, I started replaying Okami. I think I had only managed to get about halfway through the game before I just… stopped playing it on my ps2 version. I am currently SO CLOSE to getting a 100% on the ps4 version. In fact, I’ve beaten the game. I only (techinically) need 2 more trophies to be done; 1st, escape the water dragon without being eaten, 2nd, I need to beat that dumb stupid race with Kai, in order to get the last bead on my rosary, as well as the top dog trophy. I hate her so much. I hate this race so much. It’s awful and bad.

Flash forward to December! Earlier this month I was at Barnes and Noble, buying myself a planner for 2020. I exit the store and notice that there’s a gamestop across the street. For shits and giggles I go inside to look at their game selection, and I find KH 1.5 and 2.5. Now, my PS2 died a few years back (it just won’t read my discs anymore, I don’t know why) and I haven’t been able to replay any of my other kingdom hearts games since. If you had seen me the day I finished kingdom hearts 3, after the ending credits rolled, you would have heard me say “Man…. I wish I could play kingdom hearts 2 again”. AND NOW I CAN, ALONG WITH BBS which I had never even played yet, but knew the story of. I’ve restarted playing kh1, and I was so happy to hear that familiar music when I booted the game up for the first time. While at the game stop, I also picked up Rime and Tearaway, two games that had looked interesting to me. At the time of writing, I’ve finished Rime and am 25% done with tearaway. Rime was…. An interesting experience. I learned about it through Jacksepticeye’s channel a couple years back and thought the art style was enticing. For a super casual gamer like me, I found the puzzles just the right level of challenging and exploring was a blast! The music gave me VERY strong Princes Mononoke vibes, but the overall story left something to be desired. Overall I had fun, and enjoyed completing this game to 100%. Now for tearaway. Can I just say this game is super fucking adorable? I know the original was on the ps vita and the gameplay there was arguably more diverse and imaginative, but this game is just so fucking cute I don’t care?? ALSO, this game’s sound track is ABSOLUTELY incredible and I’ve only heard the first fourth of it! Listen to The Orchards, Pig Riding, and Gibbet Hill Pilgrimage for a taste of their wonderful beats and fantastic use of string and woodwinds! God, I’m so excited to get some more games in 2020. I’m proud to say I currently own more ps4 games than I ever did with my ps2 (and now the majority AREN’T Kingdom Hearts titles!), and I’m still hoping to play Journey, The Witness, and Abzu before everything becomes ps5.

What else happened to me this year. Oh, I went to a doctor for, like, the first time in seven years. I also had my blood drawn for the first time ever, and the nurse said the most disturbing thing to me while she did it. Now, whenever I get shots, I refuse to look. I did that here. So she thought it would be appropriate to say to me “Can you feel your blood leaving your body?” Lady… You can clearly see I am uncomfortable with what is happening here. Why, of all the things you could say, did you choose to say that. Unfortunately, while my doctor is nice, she keeps wanting to run tests on me, that I just cannot afford with my current salary, and my monthly insurance is about to go up to 200$ a month, so I’ve cancelled my next appointment with them, and don’t plan to go back until it’s absolutely necessary. Capitalism is fun, guys. Preventative healthcare is for wusses.

I started going to a chiropractor on a monthly basis. Story time- I don’t know when it started, but sometime late last November I began to notice that I had a headache that just... wasn’t... going away? And each day it was starting to get a little worse. It made it hard for me to find a comfortable position to sleep, it made it hard for me to be in bright areas or move fast. So I said to myself “Okay, if this headache persist through the month of december, then something is proooobably wrong and I should go see someone about it. And hoo-boy were thing wrong with me. By the time this January rolled around, I couldn’t even stay on my feet for more than a few hours without it physically hurting to just BREATHE. So I started going to this chain called The Joint (A+ name, I know). THey aksed me “How are you doing?” I said “I’m in pain” and they said “We can help fix that!”. I’ve only been to a chiropractor once before in my life a few years back after my freshmen year of college because I began to notice my hips weren’t able to support me? LIke, I would lie on my back, and I couldn’t push my hips up when my feet were flat on the floor. I also couldn’t climb anything steep, because my legs just couldn’t push me up if my knee had to bend more than 90 degrees when I lifted my leg up. (Turned out both my hips were apparently out of place). This time only one of my hips were out of place (which they fixed. they said one of my legs was an inch “longer” than the other because I had been leaning all my weight on one leg when I stand). But two of my ribs were apparently “Stuck” which was why it was hurting for me to just breathe, and one of my shoulders was missaligned too, causing one of my trap muscles to constantly be streched, which was pulling on my skull, and causing the headache. Anyway, after they popped all my bones back into place, I still felt terrible, but by god, that night was the first time in weeks I was able to sleep without a migrane. A chiropractor can’t magically heal your arthritis, or fibro, but I definately think they have merit to keeping your posture good and helping your body with things like circulation. 10 outa 10, would recomend. It’s all the fun of getting your neck snapped without the dying!

Earlier this month I got together with two of my friends and we baked Christmas cookies. It was a lot of fun, as well as a great learning experience. A member of my family has a gluten allergy, so we used rice flour for most of the cookies. We learned this is a bad idea! The cookies will just fall apart! A few member’s in one of the friend’s family have nut allergies. Other friend and I knew this and were careful to avoid cookie recipes with nuts, bUT THEN COMPLETELY FORGOT THAT ALMOND MILK AND ALMOND EXTRACT COUNT AS NUT. IN FACT, ALMOND EXTRACT IS PURE CONCENTRATED NUT JUICE AND WE FELT SO BAD FOR ALMOST ACCIDENTALLY POISONING THE FAMILY.

Earlier this year me and these same friends took a field trip to Hobby Lobby and just dicked around the store for a couple of hours. It was super fun, 11 outa 10, would recommend, a great date idea for your artsy S.O.

Back in May I went to a wedding for the first time in my life. (well, not true, but the first one I could remember) we left at 5am, drove 5 hours to get there, hung out at a zoo and spent the night in a la quinta before the wedding day. I slept on the bathroom floor because my mom was snoring too loud in the main room and keeping me awake, and the rest of the day was just spent me trying to keep myself together because I was pissed off and tired.

Other than all of that, nothing really major happened to me this year. I guess one more thing I’ve tried to do this year is started the process of breaking certain internet addictions so I can use my free time for more personal projects. Seriously, I found myself watching way too much youtube and following blogs that didn’t even make me happy. I had a personal intervention with myself where I sat down and asked myself, “why do you watch these videos and youtubers? Why do you follow these blogs? Do you really enjoy their content? Do you really care? If you stopped watching/following them, would you even notice?” After critically thinking it over, I’ve found myself unfollowing several channels and blogs and suddenly I feel so much happier. I thought I would miss it, but I realized I didn’t really care if I saw their content or not. I wasn’t missing much. And now I feel like I have more time to draw, read and write. If you think you spend too much time consuming and not enough time creating, I suggest you try and de-clutter your internet habits as well. It’s done wonders to un-fuck my headspace.

Maybe I'm just really negative, but I was super surprised to see that the collection is only for sale for two weeks... it just seems so short for it to actually make the impact they want? Waaaaaaait a second, TWO WEEKS? Did I read that right? What a bunch of miserly jerks these companies are. It’s basically free advertising for them and all they have to do is give 1:1 (at cost not retail) for ONE ITEM each and they’re only going to do it for TWO WEEKS???? I hope it didn’t come off as if I was blaming Meghan or her strategy there! While the shift comes in extended sizes, I’m not impressed the jacket and pants only go up to a UK 16. And I’m interested in how the 1x1 will work. Idk it’s all weird // I’m honestly disappointed with the line. It’s a great cause but all the pieces were existing in at least one of the retailers, just re-done for the line, it’s only 5 pieces, sizes go up to 16UK (14US), they’re made in polyester and the campaign for smart works will only last 2 weeks? Idk it just spiralled into a “let’s make it look like we’re good” kind of line // I don’t know why but I thought each brand was launching a “look” for smart works, is it just one place has the shirt, another the trousers, a third the purse etc? // I really want to love Meghan’s idea, I really do. But I can’t.

Ok so I decided to combine all the messages I got about this in to one kind of master post. My plan is to go through what I liked and what I’m not too fond of. I don’t know which one should go first so I’ll put headings and you can read them in your preferred order haha. I should hopefully hit most of the points:

The Good

I talked about this before but I think Meghan’s really underrated skill is being able to spot gaps and understand where she can add value. Having worked with public donations, I related to a lot of the issues she pointed out and I think it’s very astute of her to be able to quickly pick that up for each organisation 

Once again, women of colour were front and centre. The women modelling in the campaign were representative, they had different body types and attitudes too. I think that commitment is really impressive

Although some things are in more limited sizes- I think one of the items anyway- most things go up to a Size 24 which is more inclusive 

I think we’ve already seen that there’s going to be a huge uptake in the clothing line so I expected that they’ll report a really big result

Her behaviour around the collection so far has been pretty adorable. From the behind the scenes videos to today, she has seemed genuinely excited and passionate. She’s obviously worked hard on the project and when you watch videos I think you want to back her up!! 

She’s doing what I have complained about royals not doing in the past. She is doing something with a tangible end result. They will be able to say they gave x pieces to the charity whereas most royal projects have no clear outcomes or outputs. It still doesn’t tell us the impact but it’s better than we normally get from royals!!! More of that please. 

The Less Good

I don’t like the clothes. I’m not going to go into a huge amount of detail because this is exclusively personal preference and nothing to do with the merits of the project but I know someone will ask so let’s get it out of the way. They’re too old for me personally. I do get why they went the basic route and re-used things though as it’s quicker and easier  

“It’s not a hand out, it’s a hand held.” I mean, it is still absolutely a hand out. I know what she was going for but the dictionary exists. And it’s still a project where vulnerable women are supported by the whims of the privileged. I am a bit concerned at some of the narrative emphasising the purchaser which plays in to what I talk about in point 1 

 The things she pointed out when she was at Smart Works were that donations “can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colours, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes.” Now I don’t know if her project actually addresses that issue. It provides high quality clothing but with a one for one model it means that whatever people are buying, that’s what the place gets. It isn’t saying “how many of each item of each size do you want and need to create a more cohesive wardrobe?” and then providing it to them. Something that’s interesting about relationships like this, as a Fundraiser who has managed similar relationships, is that a lot of times when they say “10p from every product will go towards x charity” that’s not true. We have a relationship like that with a corporate organisation and they tell us what they’re going to give us in advance based on projected sales. The money you pay doesn’t come anywhere near us. For smaller projects it might be different but that’s how we do it so we can budget and forecast. It’s possible that Meghan has actually done that but that leads me on to my last point….

The “Doesn’t Fit Into Either Category”

I have quite a few unanswered questions. I’m sure that some of these are answered and please do share links with me but I don’t know where I’m supposed to be going for the fine print, the terms and conditions. So:

I read in one article that proceeds would be going towards the charities rather than just products. Is this true? 

If it’s not true, where is the money from sales going?

Have they had an agreement like the one I mentioned above that guarantees a certain number and mix of items for the local branches and uses the 1 for 1 thing as more of a selling point?

If it is a 1 for 1 model, does that extend to colour choice and size?

Are each of the pieces being sold in a different store or is everything available in every outlet?

This isn’t Meghan’s fault, there’s no reason to think she knew about this, but it is so shady of M&S to put a pink version on that is exactly the same but doesn’t benefit the charity. After Meghan saying they put purpose before profits, that’s a dick move from them 

Overall

Meghan has clearly put a lot of heart and soul in this project and I think identified a real gap where she could have a meaningful contribution. I personally don’t think that a 1 for 1 model is the most effective way of meeting that gap and although there are plenty of positives I think the cook book was a more comprehensive project than this one 

So it took interest rates that were like WE OWN UR SOUL NOW U FOOL HAHA TWILL BE OURS FOREVER, but joke’s on them lol like I never use that thing anyway. But I got the personal loan for $10K in the end after like a month of searching but who knew that obsessively raising my credit score for a year by like....occasionally chilling all night in an IHOP rather than use a credit card too much on a room would like....pay off with a credit score that actually is useful to me in a way that means I don’t even care right now that hahaha credit scores are just pointless imaginary numbers that really only exist because capitalism’s a dick?

Look I’m allowed to be a hypocrite for three weeks let me have this, I promise I’ll go back to ranting about people selling their souls for the sake of strings of binary code on a computer screen, like just cuz I wasn’t using mine doesn’t mean other ppl don’t want theirs.

Because oh yeah so I was like gimme the loan plz and they were like ugh fine and I somehow got my credit card companies to raise my limits because I’ve had them for over a year now and I honestly couldn’t even tell you how I convinced them to do that like did I haggle did I beg did I put out, who knows, it’s been a very long and strange and sleep deprived month and that’s on top of a long, strange, sleep-deprives two years. Point is between raising my limits on those two, the loan of DOOM and getting a CareCredit card with the remaining credit left to me or before the latter realized I’d just massively dinged my credit cuz the raised limits and loan hadn’t been reported yet, I came up with the $12400. Like again most of that is in the form of imaginary money that I’ll probably spend years paying out of future paychecks so if anyone wants to go ahead and put The Revolution on the books for like, say October, that would actually really work for me. I’d even be all pumped and full of rest and vigor and extra fightey and like, you know how fightey I usually am to begin with I’m just saying....

So now I am literally just waiting for my loan check to clear in my bank account cuz my doctor doesn’t accept checks. Second it does, probably Monday, I’ll go down to my doctors office, pay the $6200 upfront and finish the insurance paperwork for them to submit the claim for the insurance company’s part of it, and they can officially schedule my surgery, possibly in as little as three weeks??!!

Which is absolutely surreal to me, like after literal years of treading water and setbacks and everything dragging out endlessly and he’ll even just yesterday, it’s utterly bizarre finishing my stuff at my bank and doctor’s this morning and hearing how matter of fact they all are about how quickly things could happen now and like. Finally be over. Or like, start lol in the sense of holy shit I could actually maybe have an actual life again.

They can’t confirm a date until my first payment is processed, only then does she officially put me on the books at Cedar Sinai when they can get me into an open OR, but it hopefully could be the 20th. She’s already got another surgery scheduled for that day and an OR booked for it with potential slots before and after it but I can’t count on the 20th as a given just yet. Could still be one, two or even three weeks after that before they actually fit me in, so I’m trying not to set my thoughts and hopes too much on that three weeks from now appointment but that’s easier said than done. LOL.

But whenever it’s actually set for, I go in the day of, pay the second half of the payment, and the surgery takes a few hours but they send me home the same day. My high school friend from San Diego hopefully is going to be able to take enough time off to look out for me while I recover, we’ve been tentatively planning for that for most of a year but couldn’t guarantee anything with her work until we had actual dates which I mean we still don’t technically have. But my jaw will be wired shut for ten days so there’s no way I can manage on my own, esp the way I’ve been getting by day-to-day, and I’ll be on a liquid diet and having to drink everything through a special straw and stuff and completely unable to talk the whole time and oh yeah also apparently in agonizing pain that I’ve been extensively warned could put anything I’ve experienced thus far to shame, so I’m really REALLY looking forward to that part lol. Currently pondering the viability of just knocking myself unconscious every day. We’ll see how it goes.

But after that I go back in ten days later and they unwire my jaw, check that everything looks okay and I’m healing the way I’m supposed to, and I have two weeks of physical therapy and....that’s it. It’s over. I’m just. I’m just leaving that right there for now because I honestly don’t even know what to do with that thought after all this time, it’s. Like I can’t quite wrap my head around it and even really picture how that works. Idk my brain just fizzes out and it’s like wait, are you sure, that doesn’t sound right.

But like I made them go over it multiple times to make sure I wasn’t missing anything or understanding it wrong or whatever, like my doctor was this combination of kinda amused but also exasperated when I finally stopped asking to go over it all again. LOL look I just really really really needed to be sure there wasn’t something else involved that like I was supposed to already know or have been told by someone else, I don’t know okay? Anyone who’s been following me the last couple years knows that this isn’t how this sort of things go, they’re supposed to get my hopes up and then tell me they have no clue what’s wrong or send me off to someone else or tell me oh yeah you also need another thirty thousand and an MRI and some headgear that’s like made of platinum, but we just thought you already knew that. LOL.

But. I mean. Yeah. That’s it. I checked. A lot. Theoretically though unless there’s some new bizarre development in which case I will most likely detach my spirit from my body and evolve into my ultimate great rage power Digimon form, AreYouFreakingKiddingMeMon, and go like, fight god or the physical embodiment of the universe or whatever like I keep threatening....like, that really is what’s left. And then it’s all over. My jaw should by all accounts be restored to its full functionality from before all this. No more pain, no more eternal headache, no vertigo, blind-outs, no problems eating any particular food or swallowing or 45 degree slope to my lower jaw, none of the shit that’s been my day to day existence for well. Years. LOL.

Yeah. Really don’t know what to do with that yet. I just. Can’t. Haha.

Anyway, as I’ve said before, I literally couldn’t have made it to this point without the support of people here, both emotionally and financially. I hate to ask it because you’ve helped so much already, but I’m definitely going to have to ask for your help a little longer, there’s just no way around it. I am completely wiped and tbh overwhelmed so I’m probably going to try and sleep the rest of the day - I was pretty much up all night, unable to sleep while I waited to hear back on all this.

Then when my head’s fully processing things again and not friztzing our because I’ve forgotten how to process good news, lol, I’ll probably be putting together a post asking for your help paying my insurance premiums one last time, and on Monday or once I get the official set in stone date for my surgery I’ll be doing another, basically begging you guys to help keep me afloat the hopefully no more than three weeks til then.

I really really hate having to do that when I know you all have helped and given so much already, and it’ll literally be nothing more than my basic expenses of motel room and food, I don’t need anything beyond that, but I truly don’t see anyway around it. I exhausted every possible avenue available for me to try with my credit in order to get this loan and raise my limits enough, and I milked every cent I could out of those. There’s just no more money to be pulled out of any of that, it took everything I had to get what I needed for the surgery. And I’m afraid of the very real possibility that if I don’t ask for this help because of pride or because of how much I’ve asked for already, I’ll end up using one of my credit cards to pay for my room and such and end up stuck without enough money at hand to cover the second half payment on my day of surgery and I truly literally can not afford that. I have no idea what will happen with my insurance if I have to reschedule, how long it would take to reschedule, etc.

And the other side of this is there’s really not a whole lot left I can do for work at the moment. I’ve finished off all my existing projects except for one last cover and they already paid for it in advance. I honestly don’t know that I could take on new jobs if it ends up with my surgery on the 20th in just three weeks. Searching for more jobs and clients has become more and more time consuming these past months as is, and the simple truth is I couldn’t in good conscience or in honesty guarantee any new clients that I could finish their job in that time frame. Not with my present state physically and mentally and the uncertainty of my day to day expenses and stress about potential complications hanging over my head and not, truthfully, mixing all that well with my pre-existing mental health conditions lol. And yeah, if I can’t guarantee getting any new projects done in three weeks, I can’t afford to take them on for any potential client’s sake, not to mention the sake of my professional reputation, which I will really need to be, y’know, intact, in order to rebuild my life basically from the ground up, once my previous physicality and quality of life comes back after my surgery and recovery (knock on wood). With at least two or three weeks of recovery after the surgery even assuming it goes well and has no other complications, that’s way too much time to leave clients hanging and not be available to address any needs, concerns, revisions, etc. Especially if they’re not returning clients but brand new ones.

So yeah, as much as I would love to not have to ask for any more help than I already have and have been given, I sincerely just don’t see any alternatives that don’t jeopardize or risk wasting all the help I’ve already been given. You know I am fully aware of just how much that is and what its cost some of you, and I already could never repay you for this, not even in terms of just the money itself, but the fact that I know some of you have given at your own very real expense, sending me money that you really could have used yourself, that wasn’t any kind of surplus. I am already beyond grateful and humbled and overwhelmed how many of you have stepped forward to help me in ways that even though I’m older than many of you, I honestly have no precedent for, in ways and to an extent I’ve never received help or support from family. So I just needed to say that again, because I have not asked for any of this lightly, and I don’t now either. Really, really thank you. I’m not exaggerating or being dramatic or hyperbolic or silly for a change, when I say you guys most likely saved my life. Its simple fact. Hell, I was genuinely hours away from sleeping outside freezing my ass off in December, that first time I posted asking for help and you guys came through for me. So, yeah. I will never ever forget this, and never ever be able to give back as much as I’ve been given these past few months, though I will always do my best to pay it forward.

Sorry, I’m being very umm, sentimental over here but like its your fault I’m overwhelmed lol, like omg you guys, you can’t just throw love and affection and support at a guy with so much childhood traaaaaaaaauma, his brain doesn’t know how to handle it, look, you broke him. [cat]: and he's apparently hired Alec for the summer work-study the Classics department does FOUR YEARS IN A ROW, even though he's not even an undergrad anymore so Ragnor had to fill out extra paperwork FROM THE DEAN'S OFFICE

[tessa]: Ragnor voluntarily subjected himself to more Aldertree? Isn't the summer program mostly for putting a student between him and the Dean so he has *less* Aldertree?

[dot]: He still refers people over there if they're looking for books beyond what we've currently got in stock, or if they're fine with later editions, since we usually just keep firsts or seconds. the only reason i’m answering this is to hopefully avoid more asks like this in the future since i have no intention of ceasing advertising commissions any time soon. i understand i advertise commissions a lot for various reasons and that looks bad, but i have always used the money i’ve earned for exactly what i said i was going to use it for (moving, paying bills, food, replacing ripped work pants, copays, etc).

even though i work 36 hours a week (if i don’t lose rock paper scissors and get sent home early to cut labor) i’m only bringing in like $650 per paycheck because of taxes and insurance, and the costs of living keep piling up (and no, we’re not allowed to cash in PTO anymore unless it’s over a certain amount). i moved recently and my rent is almost $200 more per month (and the move exhausted my savings). internet went up, too. it’s winter and i’m anemic af, so my heating bill’s been in triple digits since November. because of whatever weird fucking lung malfunction i’ve been having (which still hasn’t been figured out btw) i haven’t been able to walk home in the 10 degree/-5 windchill weather without fucking up my breathing, so add uber expenses. and now i’ve got to pay ssa back over $1,000 bc they overpaid me for 9 months and didn’t??? bother to tell me i was no longer eligible?? (they’ll be sending me some paperwork for that and yes i WILL be posting it when i get it so y’all know i’m legit so don’t @ me) but i could go on a whole other rant about that bullshit. instead i’m going to respond to your message

1) point me to a single post where i beg people for money. all i’m doing is advertising a service (drawing) in exchange for whatever people deem that service is worth. all the pieces used in the example took me several hours to complete. i could be asking for $30 for them (since min wage $7.50 x 4 hours = $30) but the absolute most i’m asking for is five dollars. in fact in that post i’m actively discouraging people from donating?? i don’t want a handout. i don’t want free money. i just want to be able to pay my bills and still afford a box of ramen afterwards, and selling my art is the only way i can earn a bit of extra income without selling off all my possessions 

2) pizza is a rare treat and i only ever order online deals. yesterday my roommate and i both had awful days and we decided to treat ourselves. also i eat like a bird so a large pizza is like...5 meals for me. it’s not like i’m ordering a pizza every other night and finishing it off within hours. as for the coffee, it’s also a treat that i get maybe once a week. the ebar where i buy my coffee i get a 50% employee discount so it’s hardly ever more than $3. a friend that works at the ebar will also sometimes give it to me on the house, so i’m probably spending less than $10 on coffee per month. not that i really have to defend buying small treats that take some of the edge off, but i forgot poor people aren’t allowed any kind of luxury at all. excuuuuuse me for wanting to have a somewhat decent meal and bean juice every once in a while

3) i hate avocados ;p toast is nice tho. have you ever tried it with pepper? just...plain ol bread and butter but with pepper? it’s good.

4) i have a real job, and i work my ass off, and i’m good at what i do. it pays well, i get medical and dental, PTO, i get along with everyone, my managers are really cool and easy to approach if i have an issue or a question, and i enjoy it. right now my only issue is my hours being cut to save on labor (it’s slow right now so obviously our budget for labor is smaller). i might not wear a tie and heels to work and sit in an air conditioned office and type at a computer 9 to 5 or whatever you think a real job entails, but i can assure you, i have a job. in fact, i have two now! that’s right this lazy entitled snowflake millennial has just gotten a second job to pay for their expenses. i began applying the second i got off the phone with ssa because i knew i’d need the extra income asap, but it’s been on my mind for the past few months. the manager is still working out my schedule but i’ll definitely be working even more 12 hour days soon enough. idk how to get much more real than that

Becoming - Part Two Jason Todd x Bat!Reader

Summary: You had been best friends with Jason Todd for as long as you could remember, things changed when he became Robin for sure, but they changed even more when he became the Red Hood.

Bruce was waiting for you both once you got to the bat cave and he didn’t waste any time with pleasantries before asking you everything you knew. 

You told Batman and Robin everything you could. How you got involved because you had no where to live and Falcone promised comfort and shelter and food. How you started out just helping organise the drug trades and supplying dealers. How as you got deeper into his world he started to trust you more, eventually seeing you almost as a daughter, and you couldn’t help but see him somewhat as a father figure. How you managed to convince him to try and avoid selling drugs to kids, it wasn’t much but it was a start. How he wanted you to be strong so he had you trained. How he decided you should be doing more than just drug trading and trusted you with more confidential business. How he had invited you for dinner at his home. How he had forced you to kill three men before you decided enough was enough. Three men that you hadn’t even seen the faces of, although you guessed that made it easier. How when it came to a forth man you ‘missed’ and shot him in the arm before turning the gun on his men and running for your life. How’s he’s put out a hit on you and you’ve been hunted for the past week. But most importantly you told them where Falcone was hiding, where and when the next drug shipment was coming in, and how to stop him. 

They devised a plan, one that ultimately used you as bait.

“Are you sure you’re ok with this Y/N?” Jason asked you concerned. 

You nodded, “I’d do anything to bring Falcone down.”

“I don’t want you getting hurt.”

You smiled, “I’ll be fine Jay, I was trained by some of Falcone’s best hitmen, I can defend myself.”

That night the mission was a go. The plan was for you to distract Falcone while Batman and Robin take out his men at the docks and destroy the shipment, then they would come and take-out Falcone, hopefully before he did any serious damage to you. 

You knew Falcone would be at a warehouse on the docks overseeing the shipment so you were dropped there before Bruce and Jason went to destroy the shipment. You walked directly below the window he was standing at and waved, catching his attention. 

“Hey Falcone! Heard you put a hit on me? $1 million? You must really want me dead!” You shouted as you saw him yelling instructions to his men. Within seconds 10 of his men had you surrounded,  guns pointed. Slowly you raised your arm in surrender and two of the men grabbed you, dragging you inside.

They started patting you down, removing the dagger strapped to you leg and the gun strapped to your hip which batman had leant you incase things got nasty seeing as it was the weapon you knew how to use best - rubber bullets of course. When one of the men got a little too handsy you kneed him in the stomach and made a forceful kick to his chest, sending him to the ground. It wasn’t your smartest move because the remaining men came after you. You managed to fend of about three more men before they had you on chair, hands and feet tied to it - you weren’t moving anytime soon. 

Falcone came up to you and without a word slapped you harshly across the face. There should have been an explosion by now. Jason should be here saving your ass once again. But you only heard silence and you started to worry that the mission isn’t quite going to plan.

“Why’ve you done this to me Y/N, I don’t want you dead. I trusted you, I cared for you when no one else did. You knew the risks that came with getting involved with me and yet, as soon as I make you do one measly little killing, you turn on me. You let one of my prisoners get away, you killed my men, and you ran away. I had no choice but to come after you, what kind of crime lord would I be if I didn’t? Hmmm? Now, I really don’t want to kill you Y/N, you’re almost like a daughter to me but alas, blood is blood, and you must pay for the blood you’ve cost me.”

You sat there wordlessly as he stroked your cheek and kissed your forehead before he aimed his gun at your head. Staring down the barrel you realised you no longer feared this death. You knew that Batman and Robin, even if they didn’t save you would at least take down Falcone, and that was enough for you to be at peace with it. 

A tear slipped down your cheek at the thought of never seeing Jason again, at the thought of not being able to be in his life anymore, to be his friend. But what hurt the most was the thought of never being able to kiss him again because, well, you really wanted to kiss him again. 

As Falcone cocked his gun and released the safety you closed your eyes tightly, waiting for him to pull the trigger. 

BOOM

Your eyes shot wide open and you saw the explosion where the shipment would have been. Finally, you thought. The explosion thankfully distracted Falcone and he walked over to the window. “What the fuck was that?!” He exclaimed, looking around at his men for answers. 

In the franticness of it all with his men running around trying to find out what had happened you sat there smirking. When Falcone noticed your smug silence he turned to you and gripped you by the shoulders. 

“Did you do this?!” He yelled in your face.

“How could I have done that? I’ve been right here the whole time.” You replied teasingly.

Just as Falcone was about to swing at you, Batman jumped out of the shadows and tackled him to the ground. Unfortunately, in the process he had knocked your chair and you had toppled sideways to the ground. Ouch.

Jason was quick to come untie you whilst simultaneously fending of the men closing in on you. 

“If you took any longer I’d be dead you know?” You found the time to to scold him for worrying you. 

“I know I’m sorry, I’m sorry. There were more men there than we thought there’d be, it took a bit longer to take them out.” Jason rushed out as he cut your final rope before spinning and kicking the legs out form underneath the man sneaking up behind him. Quickly standing up you ducked away from a punch coming at your head and brought your knee up to the mans stomach before bringing your elbow down onto his back, effectively winding him. 

“I’m never being your bait again.” You huffed out, over the fear of your near death experience and now just annoyed that it made you emotional. You quickly grabbed the gun and the knife they took away from you and started to shoot at the men coming towards you. Even though rubber bullets didn’t kill, they still hurt like a bitch, you could tell by the men screaming out in pain and stumbling backwards. 

“Perfectly understandable, I’m surprised you even agreed to it in the first place.” Jason nodded, throwing a batarang at someone coming towards you from behind that you hadn’t seen coming. 

“Would you two stop bickering and hurry this up?! And Y/N, no serious knife wounds, we don’t kill.” Bruce shouted at us, seeing that you were swiping your knife at the guy in front of you. Rolling your eyes you spun around the man on your knees and swiped the knife through the back of his thighs, crippling him, instead of going to stab his abdomen. 

As Jason took out the last of Falcone’s men, you saw Falcone unconscious next to batman. “So what are you gonna do with him?” You asked Bruce curiously. 

He smirked, “Oh, I’ve got an idea.”

That’s how Falcone ended up tied to a flood light and left for the police to find him.

Bruce and Jason had bought you back to Wayne manor so that you could shower and Bruce was kind enough to buy you some fresh clothes. When you came out of the ensuite bathroom and into a guest room you jumped, not expecting to find Jason sitting on the bed waiting for you. He was no longer in his Robin costume but in jeans and a black t-shirt that fit his form perfectly. His dark hair was even darker from being freshly washed, you didn’t even know that was possible. Your eyes zeroed in on the purple bruise forming on his cheekbone from where one of Falcone’s men must have punched him, you had a similar one forming on your own cheek from Falcone’s slap. 

“You startled me,” you muttered out quietly as you moved to sit next to him. 

“Uh, sorry.”

You were both quiet, both thinking about the night you had just had, thinking about how Falcone had almost killed you. But you knew that really you were both thinking about the kiss, and about what it meant. 

Jason sighed, as if gaining the courage to say what’s on his mind. “Tonight scared me you know? Seeing you tied up to that chair, with Falcone’s gun pointed at you. You were so brave but, I don’t know what I’d do without you Y/N.” His head was hung low, looking at his hands as they fiddled on his lap. 

“When you guys were late I thought something bad had happened to you, and I feared that more than facing death in that moment,” you said in a low whisper, staring at the wall while trying to organise your erratic thoughts.

Jason raised his head to look at you as you turned to look him in the eye. “So what does this all mean?” He asked slowly. 

You sighed, this was the hard part. “It means that the past is the past, that we’re best friends. Friends who would do anything for each other but… also friends who live two seperate lives. I can’t just sit around waiting for you to get hurt Jason, and I couldn’t bare if I was the reason that it happened.”

“So that kiss meant nothing to you?” He had anger in his voice, and you didn’t blame him.

“No Jason, that kiss meant everything to me, I want to be with you, I do but… but I just can’t right now ok? Everything is too hectic at the moment for me to even think about being in a relationship. But I love you, I really do. Just as a friend for the moment.” You felt tears in your eyes and you sniffed to keep them at bay. 

Jason closed his eyes, thinking about what you said. He knew you were right, that the life he lived as robin was too dangerous for you, that it risked your life as much as his own. But that didn’t mean he wanted you out of it so friends it is. “Ok.. friends then.” He nodded and you couldn’t help the smile that was forming on your face, he smiled back.

As you were leaving Wayne Manor you saw Bruce down the corridor talking to Alfred. Quickly you ran to him and without warning wrapped your arms around his waist, squeezing tightly. He froze for a minute, not expecting this kind of affection from you, before he slowly wrapped his arms around your back and gave you a short squeeze. 

Pulling away you grinned up at him. “Thank you, for saving both of us.” You turned to Alfred and hugged him too, gaining much of the same reaction, “You too Alfred.” 

As you walked away to meet Jason, who was waiting for you by the front door, you stopped at the sound of Bruce’s voice. “Y/N, I’ve paid the rent of your apartment for a year and got you a job as a waitress in the narrows. Hopefully from there you can fend for yourself, but I’m here if you need. You’ll also find your new bike waiting for you out front, no more stealing them ok?”

You couldn’t help but run up and hug him again, “thank you thank you thank you thank you!” You were basically crying from happiness. 

When you got to the door Jason was waiting with he keys to your new motorbike dangling on his fingers. You grinned and hugged him as he handed them over to you. 

“You better take me for a spin sometime,” he murmured in your ear.

You laughed, “you can count on it.”

As you both walked outside, Jason stopped you with a hand on your arm before you got on your bike. “I need you to do one last thing for me.” He said.

You frowned, confused, “Anything for you Jason.”

“Kiss me.”

When he said it your heart stopped but you couldn’t help but smile. With a nod you carefully leant in and closed your eyes, placing your lips on his awaiting ones. The kiss was short and sweet, only lasting a few seconds but it meant the world to both of you. 

You slowly pulled away and mounted your bike, “I’ll see you around Jay.”

By the time he opened his eyes you were speeding down the driveway.

So I’m currently sitting on a plane somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean, typing this in the notes section of my phone. It’s 9 pm Chicago time where we left, and 3 am London time where we’re going. We have about 3 and a half hours left, getting in at like 6:30 am. I took my pills like half an hour ago so hopefully I’ll start getting tired soon, I kinda have to pee but I’m at the window seat and Jess and the guy in the aisle seat are asleep and I don’t want to wake them up....we’ll see I guess. At best I’m only getting a couple hours of sleep, but it’s better than nothing for sure.

So, today has been pretty wild. My alarm went off at 9:20 am and I got up, had a message from Jess asking if it was time for her to come over and I said sure, and brushed my teeth, and Jess was there a few minutes later. The goal of the morning was to get BTS concert tickets, even though neither of us particularly like them this is what Jess wanted to do so that was fine with me. I ordered us breakfast which came shortly afterwards. The tickets were supposed to go on sale at 10 am, which was the same time I was supposed to start a quick phone interview. So we had both laptops opened up to each of our Ticketmaster’s accounts and in the “pre-queue.” The deal was that the people in the pre-queue when it starts get assigned a randomized place in line, and if you come in after you go to the end. So it became 10 am and both laptops reported 2,000+ people in front of us, so we weren’t going anywhere fast. A few minutes later I got my phone call and stepped away.

It was just supposed to be a quick phone screening and then they would talk to their hiring people about who they wanted to bring in for an in person interview. I articulated last night how I felt I had decent enough experience to sell myself for the position but didn’t think it would be realistic for me to get it. Well, the phone screening went really well, I talked about my experience and what kinda work I want to do and it was really good! Maybe like 15 minutes after it ended I got another call from them saying they wanted me to come in for an in person interview next week, so we scheduled that and I’m very excited! Apparently they think I’m qualified enough, which I will take lol. But yes, that taken care of, back to the BTS tickets.

Over an hour with nothing, about 11:10 it still says 2,000+ but my progress bar is getting towards the end and it eventually progresses to 80 people in front and then 1, and finally brought me to the massive blow up of the field where you had to pick your seats. Jess got in shortly afterwards. It was already very widely picked over, and there must’ve been a ton of people in there with us because every time we’d click on two seats together it would say they were already taken and make us try to find different ones, over and over again, and I’m talking to the point where there was like, 10 open spots in the entire giant football stadium. And like, we tried and tried and tried, but it just wasn’t happening. The good news is that Jess’ coworker that stans BTS was able to get two floor seat tickets and is willing to take Jess with her, so she’ll get to live out her BTS dreams after all (and me who literally knows one BTS song will be just fine).

So after all of that was figured out, I changed quickly and we walked over to Walgreens so Jess could print some pictures (I think like ones people sent her to have celebs sign?) and I wanted to get a tiny bottle of spiky hair gel and a small thing of acne cream to take with me, and ended up grabbing a few snacks for the plane since we didn’t buy the inflight meals that were $45 each, per meal (yeah, no thank you). Jess went home after that to pack, and I went home and got the last of my things together and picked over my snacks and candy collection for what I wanted to bring with us.

A little after 1 I got a message from Jess saying she was ready, so I grabbed all of my stuff, said goodbye to my cat, and called an Uber, which came and got me and then got Jess and took us to the airport. We were getting there super fucking early (flight was at 5) because international flights and airports and you know all of that good stuff. We checked in very easily, and security wasn’t bad at all, so we progressed to the gate fairly quickly. And then of course we had time to kill. So we just sat for a while and just chilled out before deciding to go see what our food options were, which had us go partially down the one end of the terminal before remembering we already did this the last time we were in this terminal (it’s the international flights one but also currently houses Frontier so we’d been there before) and there was nothing, so we went back to the main food court area and ended up with some Mediterranean food that was quite good.

Once we finished eating we went to our actual gate, which was swarmed with people from two flights in adjacent gates, so we ended up sitting on the floor. We got slightly delayed in boarding but they said we’d still probably take off the same time. As luck would have it, the other flight was also to London, although a different airport and airline, but I had to go and make sure we were in the right place, lol. Somehow Jess started sending memes to people in the near vicinity who had their airdrops on in their phones which resulted in a lot of laughter as other people started sending things back (or turning off their airdrop 😂) and things got increasingly ridiculous and we ended up getting identified by at least two iPhone users because we were constantly bursting into laughter. So that was a fun little distraction.

We were of course in the last boarding group, because we are cheap(tm) but eventually we got called and made it onto the airplane. There’s a USB port thankfully, meaning we can keep our phones charged and not relying on our portable batteries, which is very good. They also have a screen set up where you can watch movies and such, much like the plane I took to London in 2014 (and at least two flights we’ve had in the last year). I discovered quickly that I managed to not pack my earbuds, which I was very pissed about, but when they were doing the passenger announcements they said they had headsets available for purchase for like $3 along with blankets and like drinks and food stuff, so once we got into the air I ordered earbuds along with two cokes which were brought to us shortly afterwards, which I was very happy about since my plan up to that point to watch Crazy Rich Asians on subtitles was less than thrilling so far. So I got the earbuds and actually listened to the rest of the movie (Jess had started it like ten minutes before me, so she was slightly ahead) so I watched that and I really liked it a lot! A very well done movie, and I really loved how much it was infused with Asian culture and was truly an Asian story, not an attempted one made my white people. So I liked that a lot. Once we finished that we flipped through the available movies/tv shows but very few of them had captions (which Jess wanted since one of her ears still isn’t fully working and she won’t go to the goddamn doctor about) so we ended up starting to watch teen titans go to the movies, but it was pretty awful so we turned it off about 15 minutes in and decided not to just stick to our phones for now. I had to fish my adapter out of my bag to charge my phone and listen to music at the same time (though I think it stopped charging a few minutes ago??? Idk weird) and I spent a little bit proofreading some fanfic before starting to write this, and now I am here. I’ll probably try to go to sleep now, we’re exactly 3 hours out at this point. I’ll post this once we get on the ground at 6:30 am London time, which will still be fairly night time in the US. So that’s what I’m gonna do now. Goodnight babes. Happy weekend.

With the last lingering bits of BronyCon still slithering in my system. I’m finally able to get back to business.

First off, I have less than a dozen Starlight Glimmer charms left from the con. I’m considering putting it up on my Etsy Store as the one & only item for sale this weekend. They will only be on sale for a week so be sure ‘em before they’re out~

Also, due to time constraints, I didn’t post an official 'Featured at Bronycon’ in time for the convention, so here it is posted above!

Let me start off by saying, thankyou thankyou thankyou to everyone who stopped by the booth & offered kind words to me. Even if I don’t seem like it, I’m forever & always a bundle of nerves & panic when it comes to BronyCon. There’s always so much to do & so many points of failure, it makes me go nuts for a couple weeks!

But all of that is laid to rest once the set goes up, the lights come on, and guests ushered in. We got prints & pins, sculptures & plushies. T-shirt designs that go as high as the ceiling.  Lets not forget the dakis. Oh god nvm lets forget those. Its a show! About adorable ponies! What’s not to like?

@ubros - Hotdiggitydang was it a blast meeting you! It was a year in the making as I’d skipped last year but I finally got to see you in your full European glory! BronyCon has always been a tentpole for dustysculptures. Being about half way through the year its a good gauge to see how I’m doing as a sculptor & how you guys are doing as well. There are also the milestones only achieved thanks to BronyCon: My first vendor opportunity, my first panel hosting, even my one time daily deviation was me putting together all the BronyCon ponies. So to see it leave next year will be a hard pill to swallow for sure. But like all good things are bound to end eventually. We’d joked about it from the beginning, the tenuous balance this community had in the beginning won through sheer exuberance & fraternity. Its hard to see the event go.

But I know we’ll make its send off a good one. We’re a community. Some would say the best one! Out lasting Homestuck & striving past Undertale, we’ve got a lot left in us. I know that should BronyCon go, there will be others. Should those go to then we will have each other & the memories we shared.

When I was young, my parents bought Variable Universal Life (VUL) for me from a haggling cousin. A few years ago, I took over the payments. Now, I have another family member telling me to switch to term life (30 years) because it is supposedly better and cheaper... However, the monthly payments will be the same. With the Term Life, I will be insured more than double than the VUL plan. My issue is i'm fairly young, and if I don't pass away within 30 years, my family gets nothing.
