small brain: the scene where jayce gets it on w mel and the scene where sky asks viktor out and he refuses are paralleled to show that jayce has decided to focus on politics (mel) and neglect his partnership with viktor, while viktor continues to focus on science and experimentation (as well as poiting out viktors growing isolation from those around him).
big brain: the scene where jayce gets it on w mel and the scene where sky asks viktor out and he refuses are paralleled to show that viktor is not interested in women and is gay. and in love with jayce.

honestly i feel like the show should've ended on season 2 and thats it. And instead of all this mess we have it could've been condensed on just two seasons instead of constantly dragging the series down the longer it went on and creating weird plot holes that make everyone confused. Like seriously- what did season 3 and 4 contribute besides doing the same thing its been doing for the past 2 seasons? The mini ship arcs and the fan service were all really pointless since im pretty sure everyone knows how the series will end and that adrien and marinette will eventually end up together. Just how long does Thomas intend to stretch it out? I honestly stopped watching after season 3 cause it got really boring and uninteresting. I really would've preferred if everything ended on Heroes Day finale, it would've at least been a satisfying conclusion instead of the weird sloppy mess we have now. It just makes me sad seeing how much it fell from grace. Season 1 wasnt the best but honestly it was the most fun i ever had watching it, and while season 2 wasnt as great i at least appreciate seeing some character development in it specially regarding chloe. Idk what else to add to this but i'd love to hear your thoughts regarding the matter honestly.
A tiny part of me wishes it stayed 2D, cause it actually looked like things would get more chaotic and really put everyone at the edge of their seats specially after watching the 2D trailer that was floating around tbh, but thats just me.
It’s hard to say just how many seasons the show originally had planned. Supposedly, it was going to end after Season 5, but it’s entirely possible that it originally had fewer seasons, so the writers had to drag out the story in response.
In fact, if it turns out that was the case, I wouldn’t be surprised, seeing how it took almost four seasons for some semblance of an actual conflict to happen beyond stopping the Akuma of the week.
I also think I read something about Astruc saying that animating the show in 2D was easier thanks to all the spots on Ladybug’s costume, but don’t quote me on that.

maybe an unpopular opinion but an opinion i will share nonetheless:
every single update young justice has made to different characters’ origin stories/backstories in general i’ve felt has been necessary and good. i’m thinking of two main examples: how they treated the tara/slade dynamic in season 3, and how babs becomes paralyzed in season 4.
quick aside: i didn’t mind the updates to the cyborg origin story, either. however, those were very universe-specific, so i doubt we’ll be seeing them in any other incarnations of cyborg after this show ends.
i’m terms of the tara markhov/slade dynamic, i really, really enjoyed how the writers handled it. marv wolfman (og creator of deathstroke) actually has said he never really intended for deathstroke to be a VILLAIN per-se, moreso an antihero-for-hire. changing their dynamic to more of a mentor/mentee where it seems as though slade actually cared about tara, even a little, and NOT in a creepy/sexual way was so refreshing. and yes, you could argue that this was largely retconned in the teen titans series from the early 2000s, but their dynamic still, at least to me, had some creepy sexual undertones. young justice did a fantastic job at revising that and making that story more palatable to a younger and broader audience, without sacrificing the integrity of either slade or tara as characters. i am really hoping this influences how tara is depicted in the future, and maybe allows her to BE more depicted in the future.
on babs being paralyzed: i will admit, i am a fan of the killing joke as a comic—however, as i’ve seen other people continually point out, how babs becomes paralyzed is just…lazy, and reduces barbara to simply a chip in joker’s long game with batman. and also…it’s just kind of gross and terrible thinking about it. i doubt, honestly, that we will ever really see young justice’s portrayal of babs’s paralyzing take off into other mainstream iterations of babs (it’s so dependent on cassandra and also idk people love the killing joke)—but i LOVE it, especially in context of young justice. it speaks to that broader message of love and family which has pervaded the entire series from the start. babs allowed herself to take a hit to prevent someone from going down a path of darkness—and, as we see, her being paralyzed hasn’t diminished her importance to the team—it has, perhaps, increased it. this was a huge tell of character for barbara, and really deepened my love for her in young justice. do i think this story will take off? no, i don’t. but hey, it’s not impossible—the mr. freeze origin story most of us know isn’t even from the comics—it’s from batman: the animated series.
all this to say, i’m really enjoying how the writers of young justice are taking old material and modernizing it. hell, they were willing to tackle the BLUE BEETLE origin story in season two, which like…MAYBE three people probably knew before that—and now jaime reyes’s blue beetle is one of the most well-known modern superheroes, and is even getting his own movie. and i’m not saying it’s because of young justice—him becoming a teen titan did a lot of that work as well—but what i like about young justice is the fact that they’re willing to take on any character, well-known or not, and make them into well-rounded, well-developed characters. hell, the runaways which i know are huge fan favorites are all revamped versions of the “diversity” characters from super friends (save virgil). the writers are not afraid to tell well-known stories in different ways—cmon, for a lesser known character, we’ve seen the cyborg origin story dozens of times now, but the writers still found a way to make this well-known story their own. and that’s good storytelling. say what you want about young justice, but at its core, it’s a good story—and i still wholeheartedly believe that.

I don’t even really watch that much gore anymore i prefer SFX in a good horror movie to the real thing but I also didn’t grow up in a house where gore was taboo, my dad watched all sorts of shit in front of me and my mom encouraged me to watch more horror movies when I went through a squeemish phase in my pre-teens and my soulmate’s brother showed it to us as a kid when the grainy  glitchy taliban beheadings were popping up online and I was always allowed to play with roadkill or the neighbor’s cat’s kills or whatever drowned in the pool as a kid and IDK what the science behind this is but when I feel the overwhelming urge to cut watching gore somehow scratches that itch without indulging in my SH urges so I consider it harm reduction.  Its not like the cartel gets a royalties check when I watch them flay a face and as a horror writer it is also a useful medical reference but I grew up thinking gore was more normal than porn (I watched gore in the open on the family computer.  I watched porn hidden in shame in my basement on a laptop that only I had access to only when I was completely alone in the house).  Even in college almost everybody I knew was into gore we used to watch it during speed benders in a jam packed dorm room huddled around the laptop of the one kid who knew how to use tor.  Like nowdays I only really watch it when a particular video sounds interesting or when Im trying to prevent a SH episode or sometimes with @xannexfrank because it is funny to torture her fiancé with it but this idea of gore being taboo is sort of novel to me because Ive always been in households/social circles where it was normalized and even encouraged but id LOVE to see yall come this hard for people who watch porn which is proven to cause neurological damage to the point where they declared it unethical to expose somebody to it for the purpose of scientific study because it causes so much damage (which is not the case for gore, you can still show that in a lab setting) like i bet half of you either watch porn or fuck men who watch porn so you think ur throwing stones from some ivory tower of purity meanwhile ur actually hucking rocks from a ditch.  Also I don’t watch animal, child, or female gore the gore I watch is grown male criminals killing other grown male criminals but yeah gore was something that was never taboo in my household and I was bullied really badly by both family and peers during my squeemish phase so I became obsessed with being able to watch anything without being upset by it and now i have no healthy sense of shock or disgust and honestly if theres something to see I want to see it, if u told me there was a dead body on my lawn id look out the window at the very least to see what there was to be seen if u don’t watch gore IDK what to tell u, ur metal is in the mail and should arrive shortly since ur such a pure angel even though ud never think of asking ur Nigel to give up his porn addiction and still watch movies by Weinstein and Polanski and Hitchcock and Kubrick while patting urself on the back about how pure u are.  Theres nothing that annoys me more than somebody who prides themselves on abstinence because chances are the media ur supporting isn’t as ethically sourced as ud like to believe no matter how PG the content is.  Staying pure is literally impossible if u intend to consume any media at all, if ur too proud to gawk at a spectacle im sorry uve lost ur sense of wonder but im not going to look away just so I can pat myself on the back for being slightly closer to an impossible standard of purity.

Hi ! It’s been a while seeing your fate posts wanting to get into it - but with that last post about fate series levels…! Do you like… recommend getting into it ? And with a particular series ? Or is it the kind of media where you’re like i adore it but i wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy
I wholeheartedly recommend the Fate serie. It is, and I mean this completely unironically, one of the best series I have been given to eat in years.
Usually when I make headcanon or meta posts about a given serie, there is a large amount of wishful thinking and self indulgence involved. I don't think Ariosto intended to write Orlando Furioso as a story about Angelica desperately trying to escape the narrative, but it is a lot more entertaining for me to read it this way. I am well aware that digimon is a children's cartoon and a lovecraftian horror story about the inherent corrupting power of light, it's just more suited to my tastes too imagine stories that involve that.
That's not the case with Fate. I am still very often self-indulgent and horny on main, but generally speaking when I say shit like "the protagonist of Fate/Grand Order is a normal person gradually becoming insane the further the plot goes" or "people die when they are killed means that if you refuse to let someone die when their time comes you are denying them the simple right to be a person" that is. Very textually what happens. The Fate serie allows itself to go all out on bonkers and/or horrifying concepts and themes, which is doubly refreshing in a world where media are slowly being made blander by corporations who don't want to alienate their audience and lose money.
That being said, it is a serie that has been going on for a very long time, so the writers like to reference their old works, make use of concepts they've foreshadowed 16 years ago in an obscure visual novel that never got translated, make full aus of their own stories, ect ect. So the joke of this post is that there are some Fate works you can jump in with 0 knowledge of Fate and you'll be mostly fine save for maybe a couple cameos you won't recognize, while some others will be fucking incomprehensible if you haven't eaten the full wikipedia page beforehand.
If you follow Lance's post, you can probably pick any work from level 0 to 5 and try to work you way out from here.
If you want my personal input, my entry point was Fate/Grand Order, and while I could make a whole post on its strenghts and weaknesses if you need one the important part is that it did a well enough job having a compelling story on its own while explaining the worldbuilding basics to me.
Fate/Stay Night (the visual novel) is the first title of the Fate serie, so it's a good entry point as well, but it is fucking long and frankly the first route has aged a bit so that's up to you. If you want something easier to digest to see what's Fate about and if it'll be up your alley, you can always check out the Unlimited Blades Work anime (which is an anime adaptation of one of the routes of the vn) or the Fate/Zero anime (which is a prequel.) I also know a guy who got in through the Fate/Apocrypha anime, so if you like Mordred specifically it might be your thing idk.
Honestly don't sweat it too much, Fate is very much a serie where you will revisit works you've already eaten and go "oh THAT'S who that bitch from episode 5 came from and that's why they made it into a big deal at the time" once you've got a bit more context. It's worth asking your friends if any of them are already into Fate so they might be able to give you insight on how blorbo #34 actually has SUCH a compelling backstory in an earlier work, but if you don't that's fine just go with the flow.
Oh yeah fair warning tho that Fate sometimes features some Anime Bullshit (that's a polite way to say "lolis") so if that's a dealbreaker for you be aware of it.

The reblog of F!Ritsuka in Babylonia got me thinking about how Master is portrayed in adaptations. It feels like whenever M!Ritsuka is there, he’s kind of portrayed as a blank slate protagonist, probably to let fans self insert so they can have the girls fawning over him. that’s why I prefer the adaptations with F!Ritsuka, they actually give her a personality since they think less about fans projecting (look how she’s handled in the Shimosa and Salem manga vs M in Babylonia, its night and day).
I haven’t watched the babylonia anime adaption myself but what I can recognize is that there didn’t seem to be much of an effort made to expand or branch out Ritsuka’s character or personality at all. Everything about all the fgo anime’s scream playing it safe and that includes M!Ritsuka being aggressively reserved as a character.
Idk if the writers for the anime didn’t feel confident adding new quirks to the mc or if they intentionally wanted Ritsuka to be a self insert but the mc seemed to be trapped following the limitations of their in-game dialogue and the way they act and move around in the fgo game singularities.
Self insert characters in books and visual novels work very differently than self insert characters in anime even if it’s the same character but in anime form. When reading, you are on the same tracks as the mc and you are being feed the same information as them so you can visualize situations on your own and fill in the blanks (unless you have aphantasia). You are able to fill in for the missing aspects about the mc unless changes happen in the story. When they interact with another character, it’s from their point of view so you understand the interaction with them. You are going though the story with them so it’s easy to connect and feel for them. But with anime self inserts, what you see is what you get. A strong character is usually depicted through their actions and good story telling but now you aren’t reading as the character, you don’t feel like the one interacting with all the other characters, and you don’t really need to visualize how they physically handle a scene because now its being shown to you. So many vn’s to anime self inserts suffer from this resulting in every character aside from the mc being way more interesting.
While babylonia was airing and people were gifing the shit out of it every Saturday, I hoped to see Gudao to be kinda.. goofy and endearing like my in game choices and the way I play Gudako but it was very much the servants and other characters having fun on screen and driving the plot. The servants are made to be the stars of the show and the mc is there to keep face and follow along which I guess is the safest way they could have adapted fgo into an anime but also the least interesting and I’m afraid the Camelot movies are probably going to be the same way.
With shimosa and the salem manga, they weren’t afraid of doing different things with the characters and expanding upon them in different ways. F!Ritsuka jokes around and has fun with Mash, Musashi and the others, she has crippling nightmares, she does things that they didn’t do in game. Gudako seems to be their own goddamn character and thus its harder to view her as self insert eventhough she is one inside fgo.
Anyway I didn’t intend to write this much about how Gudao is wasted potential in the animes. But it is curious to think about if they used F!Ritsuka instead of M!Ritsuka for the animes then maybe they wouldn’t have rested on their laurels and made an attempt to bring more of a character to the mc.

Why YGO Vrains is such an immeasurable disappointment: a list
First of all, I need to make it abundantly clear that Im a big fan of Vrains – I love Yusaku, Ryoken, Ai, Kusanagi... you see them very often on my dash. I fantasize about the ideal version of Vrains that’s written well, the Vrains that’s fully exploited its potentials, every night in my sleep. I wrote this list PRECISELY because I love Vrains. That’s why I got so frustrated with its cardinal writing issues (and production issues). It physically pains me to hear people calling Vrains the worst and most boring series of YGO – but the fact that I couldn’t argue against that because it’s true pains me more.
And now, an incomprehensive list of the faults of Yugioh Vrains.
1.      What the fuck is wrong with the character designs (beside that of Yusaku and Ryoken???) Everyone looks aesthetically displeasing – characters in real life look incredibly boring they could easily drown in a crowd of background characters, but their avatars are OSTENTATIOUS. Seems like the character designer had no clue what “less is more” means – blue angel, soulburner, and Bohemann for example, look like they were immersed in a bucket of glue and then dumped into another bucket filled with random accessories.
(from a fan artist’s perspective…Im especially salty about takeru, akira, Kusanagi, and the Knights of Hanois’ designs…like, their designs don’t inspire me to draw. Their personalities might be interesting, but their looks lack the vibrant, enthusiastic energy that the 5Ds, Zexal, and Arc-V characters possess)
(imagine how many fanfics and fanarts of Kusanagi x Yusaku there would be had Kusanagi looked HALF as hot as Ryoken)
And don’t even get me started on the colour palette – whoever decided on the colours just cant make up their goddamn mind! Colour saturation is way off the charts, the range of colour is too wide the audience simply dont know where to focus.
2.      Forgotten plotlines. Yusaku’s link sense? Hanoi’s spy in SOL? The Queen and the rest of the chess pieces? Yusaku’s forgotten memories? The rest of the victims of the Lost Incident? Just to name a few.
3.      Character relationships are weak to minimal to none. Bonds and friendships – the vital element in all previous YGO series – is practically non-existent in Vrains. Where’s the camaraderie between our main casts (Yusaku, Aoi, Soulburner, Ema, Onizuka, etc…)? They don’t feel like a team fighting the evil together. They’re completely separate individuals who don’t give a single fuck if one of their…acquaintance…dies in a battle. We don’t have heartwarming moments of friendship blossoming and consolidating. It’s honestly such a let down.
4.      Interesting and debatable topics thrown away. The conflict between artificial intelligence and humans could spark so many in-depth discussions, but then the writer just decided its all Lightening’s fault. No morally gray situations, no ambiguity between the line of good and evil. It’s just all Lightening and his petty jealousy… yeah.
Oh and if Ai lives on the world will blow up. Why? Do we have a concrete reason to back that statement? eh...
5.      Overall quality of the animation. I don’t know if its because the animation staff was short on time or low on budget, but for a megacorporation (konami cough cough) that makes billions every year, they certainly are capable of investing more in this anime series. I can count the number of episodes in which the characters don’t look wacky with a single hand.
6.      Character development, wasted potentials. Ryoken is the only character who received decent treatment. The rest of the Vrains cast are all disappointments. Original concepts are cool and promising – Yusaku, a victim of child abuse with PTSD, embarking on a journey to overcome his reclusiveness and learn to open up to people around him? HELL YEAH. Aoi, a teenage idol with depression developing into a more mature and responsible heroine who saves Link Vrains? IM ALL FOR IT.  Soulburner’s character arc is fine overall but personally I don’t feel like it’s expanded enough. Also, there’s the mistreatment of side characters like Onizuka, Ema, Akira, the list goes on. I got so furious just looking at these characters and remembering that they’re all wasted and sidelined.
7.      Incoherent/ random plotlines. IDK all episodes in season 1 (Hanoi’s arc) felt pretty consistent, focusing on a linear theme – Yusaku’s revenge on the Knights of Hanoi. But after that it felt like the writers gave up writing outlines and just wrote whatever he pleased/ considered more convenient for the sake of…a plot…that he had no idea which direction it was headed for. This is reflected in the amount of forgotten plotlines we listed previously.
8.      Weak villains. Kinda related to point 4. Bohemann, Lightening, Windy, and Haru are all one-dimensional, flat, predictable villains with the cliché goal of “destroying humanity cuz humans are dumb and Ais are superior”. Not likeable, not fun to watch, not morally gray (something I expect from well-written antagonists), they are just there to serve as symbol of evil for the protags to defeat.
Honourable mentions - what I personally want to see in Vrains, really. Very biased.
-        The familial interaction between Yusaku and Kusanagi? Brotherhood, perhaps? Without any mention of Yusaku’s parents, Kusanagi is the closest Yusaku has to a brother figure. I crave for some wholesome brotherly moments between these two.
-        More slice of life episodes please.
-        The friendship between Yusaku and Takeru. Please. Please. PLEASE. From the second opening we can see the animation staff CLEARLY intended for there to be a strong bond between Yusaku and Takeru – Takeru probably was written to serve as a Jounouchi/ Johan/ Crow sort of character. Yusaku and Takeru could bond over their trauma and overcome their PTSD together. AND IT WAS SO HEAVILY HINTED AT IN THE 2ND OP!!! fam what the fuck happened to that friendship, Im so robbed.
-        Yusaku and Ryoken’s duel or tag duel. These two haven’t duelled AT ALL since the first season ended. Isn’t Ryoken Yusaku’s official rival? Isn’t it Yugioh tradition for the protag and the rival to duel like, a trillion times? AND ISNT IT ALSO A YUGIOH TRADITION FOR THE PROTAG AND THE RIVAL TO TAG DUEL?????? The fact that Yusaku and Ryoken never had a tag duel haunts me every night in my worst nightmares afjw4ot9wgrk
-        Topologina Nabee
Thanks for coming to my ted talk, this marks the end of my rant on YGO VRAINS DISAPPOINTMENTS. Again, I harboured no malicious intent when I compiled the list – its more like a vent of frustration than actual criticism. I would pay billions to see a Vrains reboot or, if there exists an alternate universe where none of the writing/production issues above are present in Vrains, I would do a Kaiba and build a dimension travelling machine and immigrate there.
TLDR: wasted potentials. wAsTED PoTEntialS. WASTED POTENTIALS!!!!!!

Why does the aot ending seem so...happy?? I was expecting a traumatic ending with like three people alive considering it’s isayama we’re talking about. I think this ending was definitely rushed. I’m kinda like “what the just happened” LIKE ITS ACTUALLY OVER, I FEEL SO EMPTY!
I really really hoped aot would have a good ending because most books/movies/tv shows have a disappointing ending. But not everything can be perfect and I’m still grateful that I got into aot, as it is still my favourite anime/manga.
Oh and this fandom is the most worst best thing that has every happened to me😂 I absolutely adore all content creators that have made fanfics/edits/fanart on aot. They really made everything sm better.
Lastly KW, I wanted to thank you for everything you did. Reading your fan fics late at night is something I always look forward to! Hopefully you find a new fandom to write for (*cough cough* haikyuu) although I do still hope you continue to write for aot as long as you wish. 💕
LMAO HAPPY 🤣. I see why you think that.
I honestly feel like the ending was hollow, and like you said, ABSOLUTELY rushed. It’s a shame. Because my friend and I talk about mangas all the time and how the push to write more (when you intend for your story to be finished at different points) is actually really stressful for the authors. It’s kind of common to see, too? I only have ever followed KNY alongside SNK and I know that writer also faced a lot of pressure to write more but I’m proud of them for writing an ending that still worked for their story and fit their narrative.
I’m with you when you say most things have bad endings. For some reason, it’s really hard for a lot of people to execute a good end. Idk why. But like you said as well, I’m also grateful to have gotten into AOT. I’ve made lots of friends and got to experience so much. ❤️
And thank you so much for that, my love. You are really sweet. I will most likely still write for this fandom here and there if inspired, but I am also absolutely totally jumping to writing for Haikyuu!! 🥰😍❤️ I’m excited to explore new things and new characters, both for AOT and other future fandoms.

mtmte liveblog issue 22
oooh man, its time to feel some EMOTIONS!
I'm BACK after a hiatus, which was due in part to me getting my 1st dose of the covid vaccine! woohoo!
anyways, starting here w/issue 22....we have a great cover w/thunderclash, the legend himself
oof. the covers made me forget how much I don't like the art this issue...I hate to be mean to the artists but this art style just isn't doin it for me chief
god I love this issue though. the framing device of rewind’s movie is so so fantastic
tailgate listing off all his fake awards/accomplishments....ily
rodimus my boy, you're a prime in my heart
the ‘not a decepticon’ label for cyclonus is so much hvbhkjfbskjf
I literally wanna comment on every single panel bc I love all the characters so much but then id be here forever...that being said whirl ily sm
hvbjdfbhsfjhdfshja BRAINSTORM ‘according to perceptor - ships genius’ hvhdkjhbfhjs ily dumb gay idiot
and then the cut to perceptor after brainstorm like, blew up his lab vjbkdsfnbksjf dude
GODDDDDD drift ‘your name...defines you. it’s your soul expressed in syllables. hm? oh, yes, sorry. it’s drift.’ GOD he’s so fucking funny. I love early story hippy drift
god I cant stop thinking about how good this whole issue would be as an animated show...like, specifically rewinds film, it would be SO FUCKING GOOOOOOD mtmte show WHEN
rewiiiiind ;_; I fuckgin love rewind god. fellow video editing enthusiast....
ohhhh rodimus being embarrassed about his big speech at the beginning of mtmte....my boy I love u so much
gjhnbgehjsrkfbjksf magnus being suspicious of rewind oh my god. magnus ily but please, look at the lil guy, he’s a good boy, most of the time
the fuckgin footage that magnus removed hbvhakjbfhskf god. wasn't that intended to be footage of magnus dancing? I love him
minibot squad.....
and here it begins, the mystery stick rung question...
poor rung oh my god he’s just trying to polish his lil spaceship and people r throwing shit at him. taking Ls as per usual it seems
hand grenade tag hvbfjksdnfbkjdf love that callback
noooo rungs ship :(
magnus’s censorship vhbhadkjfhdbhjsakjhfn
oh man I forgot about how they met that race of Transformers But More
the one-upsmanship hbvkajsbehfjks
whirrrrrl lmao I love whirl sm
goddddd whirl just killing that other alien and ending the 16 million yr long civil war bvkjsdbfhjjkafs so fucking much
oh god oh god the ‘are you happy’ page, I'm not emotionally equipped to handle this like, ever
but I will say I feel like it would be EVEN MORE oof if it were milne or someone drawing it bc I feel like this art style takes away from some of the impact bc the expressions aren't really that...expressive? idk how to put it
anyways. every single answer destroys me!!! like even the happy ones, like chromedome and rewind and tailgate - well, in present time, none of those three are doing so hot, so that makes this just hurt
and rung....that is so fucking depressing. jesus. this guy is so fuckng sad, somebody get him a friend stat
and swerve...ouch. this readthru I've really noticed how much early-mtmte swerve is not-so-subtly like, crying out for help bc he’s so alone and shit. jesus
also brainstorms response is just plain ole sad w/context, but at this point in the story without context, it just seems very foreboding lmao. I'm realizing this readthru that brainstorm is very sketchy and ominous in a particular ‘is he evil?’ mad scientist sorta way in early mtmte
and then everyone else is also just so OOF in their own unique sad ways, but I think the worst out of everyone is drift....GODDDDDD. especially considering that at this point in the story, drift is this kinda goofy hippy guy, so seeing him just sit there with his face in his hand, not even answering the question...AND knowing that shortly after this he’ll end up banished...IT FUCKING HURTS M8!
meanwhile, the more upbeat ‘quest to see rungs alt mode’ continues...with an ‘alt mode party’ vhbadkjsdfnabskjf it looks so silly with a bunch of cars just sitting around a table lmao
I cant even tell who everyone is bc they so rarely turn into cars n shit lmaoooooo
rodimus with the bucket on his head hbvhakjbfskjf I CANT
everyone’s reactions to thunderclash...i fucking love it
the fact that TAILGATE doesn't hate him, even though we’ve seen that tailgate tends to dislike people who are universally liked/who have achieved a lot of impressive things
rodimus you petty thot vbdkjbfdjhsakjdf ily
RODIMUS IS SO FUNNYYYYYY ‘I'm not making all these sacrifices and leading these guys into battle and being inspirational - I'm not doing that because it makes me look good’ RODIMUS VBHSKJDFNBKSJF
thunderclash talking about magnus’s article on typefaces....hdbksjfsdbkjgfb bro
AND THEN MAGNUS HUGS HIM....HGBSKJFDSHFKD I CANT
POOR DRIFT bvhajkdfbhjkjsfd rodimus saying he ‘rehabilitated him’ oh my god
the whole spectralism thing...im sorry I cant get over how funny all this is vbakdjfbksjf thunderclash rlly b out here charming rodimus’s entire crew
and then ratchet comes in, calling tc ‘thunders,’ and tc immediately notices ratchets new hands (somehow) hvbkjfhbskjf truly amazing
it cracks me up that rodimus is all 😒😒 at thunderclash, even though as we come to find out, tc really IS That Perfect, and him complimenting rodimus isn't sarcasm at all lmao
AND THEYRE LOOKING FOR THE KNIGHTS OF CYBERTRON TOO HVSDHFJBSHKHDFJS OF COURSE
the vis vitalis being a life support machine spaceship is a really cool concept tho
‘rescuing some orphans from an exploding sun’ I fucking cant
evil guy: [holds a gun to thunderclash’s head]
rodimus: :D finally something doesn't go his way!
he’s so petty I’m..........dkdjhfdabhduifadijgl
and its the aliens from earlier! oooh
GODDD I forgot that swerve used rung in mystery stick mode to SCHWACK the guy
rung casually dropping the fact that the functionists like, experimented on him...there's a lot of implications there, and that'll certainly be explored more later...
the fact that his ID card says ‘rong’ hvbhjakhdsbfakhsjfn
oughufadkfujbsfk the circle of light throwing wrenches n shit at skids...guys cmon vbhsdjkfnslfd
the circle of light is like ‘wtf you all have trauma and a bunch of weird unhealthy coping mechanisms this is wack byeeeee’ lmao
skids calling the lost light his home is rlly sweet tho
cant believe the religious space hippy cult is being so rude about a film made by a guy who died like a week ago. unreal
cd finally figured out how to make the pffft sound, good for him
AUGHHHHH the fact that rewind used ‘little victories’ as the title of the film and that's something that chromedome said in the video ;_; I'm fucking inconsolable
rodimus, despite his obvious posturing for the camera during the whole issue, comes off as surprisingly genuine when he says that he hasn't thought about his own future much, but wants the crew to have a happy ending....im gonna cry
‘who knows what's around the corner?’ tailgate, PLEASE don't say that, oh my god,
OUGHHHH GROUP SHOT
OHHH mannnnNNNNN i love this issue SO MUCH. what a good fun emotional rollercoaster wrap-up to mtmte s1. god.
like, this issue has it all - humor, drama, crippling sadness, intrigue, worldbuilding...it’s so excellent
and getting to see rewind again hurts so bad but also I love him
ok quick mtmte s1 retrospective...god s1 is so fucking good. I'm gonna have to read more to say which chunk of mtmte I liked best but s1 is so fucking excellent that it might be my favorite. though its hard to pick bc there's so much good stuff later on too...whatever, the point is s1 is so so good
the plotlines and characters are fucking stellar. like I cant even believe how well Everything works, its very impressive. I cant really think of anything major that made me go ‘yeah could've done without that plotline/character’
I love how dedicated jro is to connecting everything. I've mentioned it before but basically every single moment in the series has payoff - what you initially think is just a funny moment, or a fluffy character establishment bit, ends up ALSO being an important plot point later, in some way
an example would be here w/rung and his alt mode - it just seems like a fun little B-plot for this issue, and seems to pretty neatly conclude with the reveal that rung was eventually classified as an ‘ornament’ (lmao)...but we later on get to see a lot more about this, both here and in the functionist universe
and like, stuff like tailgate’s autobot lessons w/magnus - at first that can be seen as purely character establishment stuff, showing that magnus is a strict rule-lover and tg is a loveable try-hard good boy - but that becomes plot relevant in remain in light, with tailgate saving the day due to his knowledge of the autobot code (and its also character relevant, with magnus’s arc in remain in light).
and I know this is like. a normal regular thing in writing, but I'm just very impressed about how cleanly jro pulls it off, and how many things he’s juggling at once, especially in early mtmte - it’s very ambitious!
and we gotta remember, this is a comic book. I've read a lot of comic books, and the quality is all over the place. a lot of writers bite off more than they can chew, and the story ends up kinda scattered as a result.
another thing I see a lot in franchise writing like this is a lack of strong early character establishing due to the author assuming the readers are at least somewhat familiar with the characters already - which can be totally fair depending on where it is in the continuity, but other times it can come off as lazy
in mtmte, the cast is extremely well fleshed out, and not only that, the cast itself is unique in that there are a lot of relative unknowns (franchise-wise) - which I think was an absolutely brilliant move, because then jro was able to essentially create The Definitive Version of these characters - characters like swerve, brainstorm, chromedome, rewind, tailgate...mtmte is their baseline characterization, because they haven't really appeared in much else
this also allows for deviation from the franchise norms - again, a comic book classic is good writing being stifled by a need to stick to a certain status quo regard the characters, the world, the powers, relationships, etc
(I've mostly read DC comics, and some marvel, so I'm thinking superheroes w/all these comic comparisons)
so mtmte had a good recipe for genuine creativity in that the characters were relative unknowns, the plot was basically ‘space road trip,’ the status quo of ‘autobot vs decepticon war’ had been demolished throughout the entire franchise...so jro was able to take all that and run, and it turned out so fantastic
and luckily it isn't over yet! so many comics suffer from premature cancellation...and sadly mtmte/ll isn't exempt from this, as we’ll see later, but I've seen some awful ones, where comics are forced to wrap up in like 2 issues while in the middle of an arc. yikes.
but another comic staple...one of my least favorite things about comics books in general...something that was basically responsible for driving me away from comics after reading a bunch...the dreaded crossover event
yep, even mtmte isn't immune to this unfortunate plague on the comic industry. crossover events are the absolute worst, and I'm saying this as somebody who adores crossovers (in concept more than execution usually). they SHOULD be my favorite, but unfortunately they p much always completely suck
they're essentially a ploy to get you to read the other ongoing titles, but they usually only serve to bog down whatever story you're reading to the point where you don't even wanna read that one anymore, let alone read all the other ongoings. at least, that’s been my experience
it doesn't help that reading orders tend to be hard to find/keep track of, and that you need to go read the other series to know what's going on. I just hate it, like, I came here to read THIS series, I don't want a bunch of other series showing up too - even if I was reading two series, I wouldn't want them crossed over, because they're separate stories! augh!
I'm totally losing my focus here but my point is...crossover events suck, and mtmte unfortunately is involved in one. I have not read dark cybertron, and I'm not about to. I've heard nothing but bad things so I have no desire to inflict that upon myself
soooo ill be reading through the tfwiki articles for those issues to give myself a better understanding of what went on - which is more than I've ever done in the past - and maybe ill even make a single post summarizing my thoughts on what I read in the wiki, lmao
but yea ill be skipping to the mtmte s2 stuff next
phew ok I'm super tired, my vision keeps blurring out and stuff lmao. its time for bed, I probably have more thoughts but ill save them for later. for now...peace out!

some thoughts about queerbaiting & anime
is it still considered queerbaiting with anime?? i never know whether to call it that bc my understanding is that the situation is a little different in that they’re not baiting the queer rep to queer fans but rather canon ships to a (usually cishet female) fanbase of shippers. but idk what to call that other than like, fuj*baiting which hmm
but then thinking back to where the original term came from, with ur sherlocks and ur teen wolfs and ur merlins, didn’t queerbaiting become A Thing because of shippers wanting their favorite gay ships to become canon? and im like how does that really differ from what happens in anime then? is it because fuj*shi are an established Thing in japanese fan culture and there are literally entire genres that exist to cater to them (yaoi/bl)? over here the term queerbaiting evolved to be associated specifically with queer fans wanting to see queer representation in the media they consume, but who’s to say there aren’t queer japanese people looking for the exact same thing?
i feel like what constitutes queerbaiting lies in the authorial intent, so if the writers of these anime/manga really are trying to tease fuj*shi without ever intending to make the couples canon, and it has nothing to do with queer representation at all, does that really count as queerbaiting as we know it?
and i mean there’s doubtless even more layers to all of this that i will never understand, not being a japanese person living in japan. like i can’t know the nature of the conversation around this kind of thing or if the concept of queerbaiting is even talked about at all over there- this whole thing is just me wondering what i, a westerner consuming anime, should call it when an anime teases a relationship between two same gender characters without actually following through. so maybe it doesn’t matter in the end because the source material was never talking to me in the first place?
so then in our separate bubble of western anime fandom, do we supply our own vocabulary for phenomena that align with our own experiences? is it maybe not accurate to call it queerbaiting from a japanese perspective, but because we have that word we apply it in the way we understand it? idk that doesn’t feel right either, because that’s basically taking a foreign thing and cutting off its source to consume it through our own cultural lens, which is like, textbook appropriation. and since queerbaiting itself is defined by authorial intent, it wouldn’t make sense to cut off the creators from the work and then declare the work queerbaiting by our standards when realistically that’s not what’s happening at all
so idk, to me it doesn’t feel quite right to call it queerbaiting, but the ship teasing is still very much an issue. we just don’t have a word with enough nuance to account for the full depth of the situation i guess

read Barthes ‘death of the author’, I need to digest it a little more but I have mixed feelings... I like that he wants to establish a kind of criticism which isn’t about discovering an authoritative interpretation of the text, but...
[racism tw, literary criticism tw]
okay, he opens with this line from a Balzac about ‘Woman’ (said that way!) and he asks, who says this line? Is it the main character, is it Balzac speaking from experience, is it Balzac philosophizing, is it... and the point is that its actually-- all of these, for “all writing is itself this special voice, consisting of several indiscernible voices”. In order to write I efface myself as the writer, so I can write these multiply encoded utterances which are unique to writing. When I write philosophy, or when I write a blog post, or when I write in my diary, I always write as me, the voice I write in is only & exclusively my own and you can take it as an expression of my thoughts alone, but writing fiction is effacing my voice in order to bring out multiple voices, “multiple writings, issuing from several cultures and entering into dialogue with each other, into parody, into contestation“.
So I can’t read Baudelaire’s poems like I might Baudelaire’s diaries, as a way to understand Baudelaire’s voice or vice versa. I have to instead tease out the play of different voices expressed in the text - in the famous example, how the lesbians in his lesbian poems are standing in for leading French cultural narratives about lesbianism (as an interminably escalating sinful desire), etc. and in only this way we can understand the text’s meaning.
Certainly this is true. But... aren’t there times when the author undeniably intrudes into the text? When I cannot grasp the text, as the reader, without grappling with the author? Here is one such moment: today I was reading Hemmingway’s the Killers. At a certain point, George says the n word. Then, the narrator says it. This is an event in the writing which immediately demands I respond on the level of the author: okay, okay, its issuing from the culture of white American Chicago 1920s social discourses, yada yada, I get it, but do I trust Hemmingway with that? Hemmingway, who goes trophy hunting in Cuba and who tours Africa and when he’s there, his wife records, dresses like a Masai girl when they fuck? What do I say in a conversation later when it comes up? Can I recommend it? Should I mention it? C’mon Barthes! I gotta think about it!
This sort of question became suddenly very relevant when fandom entered the online space, because those ways of engaging with a text - curation, recommendations, ranking and rating, etc. - were so much a part of the culture. Folding Ideas uses a nice paroday of a typical conversation in one of their videos, where somene says ‘I think the violence in Orcs Raping Anime Women was gratuitous’ and someone argues with them saying ‘the orcs do that because they’re made of pure evil’ - they make the point that someone, somewhere made the decision to write a story about evil orcs who rape women & that decision is subject to evaluation. Most of us have probably made an argument like this before. We have to see Barthes on the side of the guy who defends the show here, saying ‘its a play of signs between cultures...’! Folding Ideas is here arguing for the importance & centrality of the author, right? Their decisions & intentions inform what the work ‘says’.
You could potentially argue that this is about evaluating a work & not interpreting it but idk, if you take for example Tarantino’s films, yknow, I think if you don’t grapple with the fact that he has the guys say the n word 100 times because he has some kind of weird... lets not get into it (and this is something Tarantino certainly doesn’t intend to communicate); or that KoRn have so many songs about child sexual abuse because Davies is an abuse survivor, you can misinterpret what it says, or if you don’t know why he’s writing a song called ‘faggot’, right... or: without an awareness of what is being said how do you decide whether or not Campo de Exterminado by Holocausto is nazi propaganda or a threnody on the horrors of genocie? Or, generally, in any satire, without understanding, or at least entering the game of attempting to understand, what the author means, you surely misunderstand the text, or misengage with it. You know..?

Fairy Tail (fandom), MarsFana (ship), Zora (character)
+ Gaara and Lee ( I can’t post the screenshot of the second ask for some reason, sorry!)
This is about this ask game! Reply under the cut because this is going to be long.
Fairy Tail:
Favorite character: Erza.  Least Favorite character: Oh boy. Zeref maybe? 5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Jerza, Gruvia, elfgreen, Miraxus, and LyonxJuvia. (though I only really ship Jerza) Character I find most attractive: Lyon. Character I would marry: No one honeslty. Most of them are fun to be with but not really husband material.  Character I would be best friends with: I wouldn’t mind be friends with Lucy, I think we’d get along.  A random thought: This is just a vague question. I think Fairy Tail might be one of the best anime, not because it’s Good, but it really let every character develop, even “weak and useless” ones and I’m a sucker for the Friendship and reedemed villains tropes and unlike what most people think I like how it treated its female characters, they always had something to do and were equals to their male companions, they weren’t there just for healing and cheering on the main character.  An unpopular opinion: Natsu is overrated as heck in the fandom and so is NaLu, and they give too much importance to romance when romance was never the point of the show to begin with.  My Canon OTP: Jerza. My Non-canon OTP: I don’t really have one. I mention in other posts that I’m not much of a shipper.  Most Badass Character: Gajeel maybe. I’m also partial to Ultear’s Time Magic, too bad it didn’t effect living things so it wasn’t as badass as it could have been. Most Epic Villain: My fav villain was Cobra and his powers are very cool (he can tell what people think, damn it). Pairing I am not a fan of: Gajevy. Why is it even a thing? He nailed her to a tree and no one sees an issue with that.  Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I’m rather happy with how the characters were handled, but I wish we got to know were Aquarius is (though I feel that’s gonna be explained in the sequel). Favourite Friendship: Saying that I like the Found Family that is the Fairy Tail guild would be too cliché, so I’m going with the Jellal-Ultear-Meredy guild, besides the relationship itself I like the concept behind it.  Character I most identify with: Lucy maybe? Not much but that’s the closest I got.  Character I wish I could be: Natsu. He’s always so carefree and he’s always so confident in what he is doing.
MarsFana:
When I started shipping them: Since pretty early on, since the Dungeon arc. My thoughts: It’s a really cute ship. I feel like I’d ship it a lot more if they’d come back and we got more content for them.  What makes me happy about them: That they finally have a shot at being together.  What makes me sad about them: That they aren’t together.  Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I don’t read fanfics so idk Things I look for in fanfic: As above. If I were to look for one though I’d look for a modern AU.  My wishlist: Getting more of them in canon or in these fillers. That’s really all I’m asking.  Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: No one? Generally, I’d like for them to find someone and be happy I guess, but there’s no character I’d ship them with as of now. My happily ever after for them: After fixing things in the DIamond Kingdom, they leave it and its politics and just see the world together. When they inevitably need to settle down, it would be nice it they became instructors for the army and helped in raising a new generation of magic knights -in the right way, of course.
Zora:
How I feel about this character: I don’t hate him and I don’t like him. He’s okay. Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Age difference aside, I’d ship him with Noelle and with Mereoleona. Now, it’s clear one of these two ships must be problematic from an age point of view but I’m not sure how old Zora actually is.  My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Even non romantically, I like his dynamics with Mereo. I also like his friendly banter with Asta. My unpopular opinion about this character: He could try to be less of a dick. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Show us more BB-Zora bonding moments. For now, it doesn’t really feel like he’s part of the fam. Favorite friendship for this character: I don’t know what to reply to this one help. My crossover ship: Same as above.
Rock Lee ( I assumed you intended it as two separate character and not as in GaaraxRock Lee. Sorry if you didn’t mean it like this. I always misunderstand when there’s two way to read something lol):
How I feel about this character: I really like him!! They did my boy so dirty, he deserved so much more screentime and so much better in general.  Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: I’d say Sakura but since she picked a-hole Sasuke over him she really doesn’t deserve him. So I’ll go with TenTen. My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: His father-son relationship with Gai. My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t believe this is an unpopular opinion, but HE DESERVED BETTER. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I just wish he had any plot relevance after the Chunin Exams, am I asking too much? Favorite friendship for this character: Neji. My crossover ship: Never considered this before, but I’ll go with Asta because they have so much in common (Workout addicts, no magic/no chakra, want to prove you can be strong even if you don’t have magic/chakra etc)
Gaara: How I feel about this character: I luv him. My favorite character in the series. Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: There was a time I shipped him with Fu, but that was long ago and honestly I forgot some parts of Naruto shippuden (that’s why I’m currently rewatching it lol) and besides I only ever watched a filler episode, I think it was a weird Killer Bee’s dream, with the two of them together. My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: The sibling bonds he manages to build with Kankuro e Temari. My unpopular opinion about this character: I love him but he was really a bad person in Naruto, doesn’t matter how bullied or alone you are, you can’t crush people for the funsies. I feel like not enough people think ths is true. Also, whose idea was it to let him lead an army when there are more skilled and experienced Kages? One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I lowkey wanted a canon ship for him. Possibly more screentime. Favorite friendship for this character: Naruto duh. My crossover ship: None really.

Opinion on;
Character in general: I honestly can’t answer this without talking about you so. Let me try first opinions/at first glance. Forgive me cause this might be an arrow to the knee. I…. Actually didn’t care much for Hector. Note I said DIDN’T!! But I mean he’s from a game that I know nothing about? That being said, from the screen shots I’ve seen from mostly you, I’ve come to notice that Hector is very much a mood. I really do like his no filter sort of attitude. That being said, before I met you and witnessed your hector (and idk how i even found you tbh), he’s a character that… I paid little to no attention to. I apparently! have a Hector in my FEH game. I never knew. But that’s how little I really cared for him. It sucks to say that, but he’s from a game I didn’t know soo… I mean, its not hard since, I don’t know many of the older games, but still. I’m relatively new to Fire Emblem. And Hector is one of the rare muses that I’ve come to love because of how somebody portrays him and not because of a game. Anyway…..
From your writing though, I find him to be boisterous kind of guy. He’s like a big old Teddy bear! A Muse I can stand by to be honest. I mean most of the time at least. He isn’t without his flaws for sure.. but stil I want to think that he’s a great man. I always say that Muse A is somebody that the world doesn’t deserve because of XYZ, but honestly, I think for hector? He’s definitely somebody where I’m like. Yea, the world is deserving of you. Hes def a man that I will defend for sure. I think I stan Eliwood just a little bit more! But I also stan Hector too! and yes, I stan him cause of you! Anyway, lets move forward.
I’m gonna put a read more cause its getting long!!
How they play them: Nox, man. Where DO I START? damn, I really don’t know??? I’m also extremely biased too. You’re a wonderful writer in general and your portrayal is honestly one of the best portrayals for any character! I mean this too. I mean, I can say that about a lot of people but.. Honestly, there’s not many that when I see a character, I don’t instantly think of a specific MUN. I’ve done it for a few characters already in various situations. I won’t go into depth about which characters, but I can tell you that it’s less than 10. (as in less than 10 muns – not characters ) These people, while most I’m friends with or talk to (but there are a few in there that I don’t talk to!), have been able to create such great metas and have done a wonderful job at characterisation that it leaves me amazed. I’ll admit that somebody even made me go from hating that character to loving them because they managed to fix the plot holes and bad characterisation that the canon had made him to be. What I am trying to get at though is there aren’t many people that can do that! To make me fall in love with a character? And Nox, I am honestly really happy to tell you that you have that honour. You really do.
I cannot look at hector and not think its you. I know that you say you try, but by the gods, you have. You’ve done so well on him that I think it’s YOUR character. I’ve honestly begun to start reading your other threads/answers that you do for others because I can’t get enough of him. While no i don’t normally read other people’s threads, there are a few that I’m like, yea I wanna see what nox wrote today. It has nothing to do with my interactions with you. While I love and adore our interactions, I love seeing hector outside that sappy/shippy stuff we do! I know this is getting long but you sent me this, I want to tell you. I only wish that I had better words to tell you.
There isn’t any word to tell you how wonderful you do with him. As I said before, I only wish to see him in situations where he’s forced to be OOC. I want to see him in situations that push him out of his limits. You already have to an extent in one answer I’ve seen, and this was since I last told you that. And really? It’s absolutely wonderful. Sometimes I feel like I’m bothering you too much, but sometimes I feel like I want nothing more than to grab a bowl of popcorn and read all of your content. And God, Nox please let me tell you that its really hard for me to fall in love with a character like that. It’s hard cause I end up playing favourites, and I don’t mean to. I want to be fair to everybody. I know I’m supposed to give you concrit, but seriously? I think all the concrit I have for you is nothing but good stuff to be honest.
Like I want to see him at his weakest, where he’s on his knees. I want him to admit he needs help. But then again, I’m sure you do to. He’s a frustrating man. But you do him so much justice to him. Honestly? I just want to say this one last thing. THANK YOU.
The Mun: wELL now that I gushed about how you are as a writer? And how you write him? Perhaps I should go to you! as a person! cause you are a person as well. And you have a heart and feelings, just like me! And honestly? You’re a really great pal! I do hope that we can continue to talk! And talk more often. You got me to play a game if its any consolation. Only 2 people have been able to do that. one of them I have known since High school. He’s been with me through some really rough patches. the other? Hell, I would die for her. I know we aren’t close & that we’ve met not too long ago. At times, I’m still very careful/afraid to step on your toes because I know I can be a lot, but I do care about you! Not because you’re a good writer! but because you care! I do appreciate the fact that you took the time to check up on me. We really should talk more! And we don’t have to talk about our muses either! Hell, you obviously play League, while I don’t play that, I play Smite so I’m sure we can find common ground with that! And I’m sure you will be hearing from me more often as I play the game. If you want I can try to stream it on Twitch! Hell I don’t mind doing that. I’ve been in calls with people and watched anime. While we don’t have to do that, we can still chill and talk. I’m honestly down for anything you wanna throw at me. And please, just cause I’m a bit shy about approaching you at times, don’t hesitate to bother me at any hour of the day. I’m normally really good about responding but sometimes I’m a potato. okay wow tangent but anyway!
You? Nox? I appreciate you! And yes I do wanna talk to you more okay? I’m trash with small talk, so you gotta like… get right into what you wanna talk about. You’re a passionate person for your muse though! and I hope you’re not too bothered by me and my wild antics.
Do I:
RP with them: Yes I do! Just not on here. I do on Emmeryn and honestly, thats become more of a Emm/Hector loving blog than anything. But hell yea, I don’t care. You are what keeps my muse for her alive. I just sometimes wish I had more people want to interact with her. But if its just you on the blog? then alright thats fine too! I’ve made muses only for certain people before. That’s actually how Emm came to be. I didn’t intend her to be wih Hector but my look at us now.
Want to RP with them: Of course! All day every day. And yes! I do actually want to RP with you on Link too! Please dont be afraid to send prompts for him! We can talk about it too. Aside from the hec holding dog boi. But you know! Nox, I will always want to RP and interact with you.
What is my;
Overall Opinion: I’m trash with gifs and I’m running out of time cause I have work soon but I’ll quote my favourite guy MythyMoo: DEN/DEN
**NOTE: Mun’s answer are all to be completely honest. Don’t send url if you don’t want brutal honesty

just rewatched Trigun for the first time in probably 10 years or so?
Trigun is often extremely compelling, except when its writing becomes very bad, and by bad I mean dissatisfying in terms of internal logic.
production-wise, i get the sense that they blew the majority of the animation budget on the first two or so episodes, because they’re absolutely gorgeous, but in many of the later episodes they take a lot of shortcuts to the point where some scenes are basically slideshows.
writing-wise, there’s a number of really key moments that are intended to be emotional, but they’re so intent on discussing THEMES and making ON-BRAND CALLBACKS that characters start spouting dialogue in moments that are absolutely unfitting for the situations that were set-up, and a lot of the social issues in the later episodes is due to the fact that absolutely none of the main characters ever explain to anyone else, “Okay so there’s this guy named Knives, and he’s totally the reason why bad things happen around Vash”
and i’m not saying everything would be resolved because they’d be automatically believed, but everything Meryl and Vash say in lieu of that rightfully serve only to infuriate all the scared, misguided people precisely because they’re desperately asking for an explanation and instead they’re told some sanctimonious bullshit about how killing is bad, or so it sounds because it has not been explained to them that Vash is not who they think he is.
in hindsight, i mostly stuck around with this rewatch because of how good the first two episodes were, and the richness of the premise they promised. the idea of a pacifistic but extremely skilled gunman with a legendary reputation who is actually a dork IS interesting, especially when combined with the supporting cast.
If someone pitched to me an RPG campaign idea set in some sci-fi wild west world where we’d be playing as insurance claims agents sent to make contact with an outlaw so fearsome he’s on the verge of being classified as a natural disaster or act of God, i’d tell them to sign me the fuck up. out of all the backgrounds for a supporting cast in this type of setting, that’s a very fresh one.
the way that all the drama in Vash’s backstory which took place aboard giant spaceships intended to colonize other planets effectively turns his past into that planet’s own Creation story in a way, and how this somewhat subtly casts himself and Knives as angels or demigods is actually way cooler to me now than i ever registered the first time I watched Trigun.
but i just don’t find that the whole Vash-Jesus-Job analogue exactly resonates. There’s no tension because Knives and the Gung-ho Guns are effectively all-powerful, and if they’d been even slightly more competent they’d have succeeded in their goals. But it’s also left completely unexplained why the most loyal of the Gung-ho Guns are loyal to the point of death to Knives, and at this point I’m actually just talking about Legato because the rest of them barely exist. but Legato, wow, what a hot mess of a plot device masquerading as a character.
early on a question is raised: does Vash manage to get out of life-or-death scrapes with zero fatalities (though lots of property damage) due to dumb luck, or because he’s just that good? But the thing is, it’s never truly answered. Legato, in particular, is central to the least satisfying parts of the story. His powers are the most overtly supernatural and staggering in scope. It’s never explained why he has so little regard not only for the lives of other humans, but for his own life, allowing himself to be a total pawn to Knives despite probably being the most powerful character in the setting. Legato’s arc could have been used to help definitively answer the prior question, but it’s resolved in a different way that i’d call a swerve, but ultimately not a good swerve.
there are certain things i don’t mind not being explained, so long as the lack of information doesn’t turn into plot holes. So for example, i don’t really need to know what the Plants are. They’re humanoid and seemingly-sentient, and somehow provide all the resources humans need to survive on a desert planet. That’s fine. Not knowing how they work is fine. That mystery does not distract from the narrative’s comprehensibility.
But the show is very blatantly one wherein the fate of all humanity always falls on Vash’s shoulders, which is a bit too egoistic a story for my tastes--yet this wouldn’t be a problem if it were done well. i don’t think it is, though, not in its totality anyways.
Legato isn’t the only problem, he just happens to be the biggest problem. Legato isn’t so much a character as he is a plot device, a deus ex machina--not one that *resolves* the problems caused by the plot, but rather *creates* the problem that the plot requires so that the story arrives at the resolution the author wants.
Legato was the *facade* of an interesting character--an immensely powerful psychic with no regard for human life who also enjoyed eating sweets in his spare time. He can mind control hundreds if not thousands of people at once. Cool. Why can he do that, and what does he want? The answers to those two questions respectively are, (1) because shut up, that’s why, and (2) because he wants everything Knives wants because of reasons.
and that second part is infuriating, because in failing to address this, the writers miss an opportunity for exposition that would enrich not only Legato but also Knives as characters, at the same time. *how* did Knives convince Legato and also the saxophone guy to do his bidding loyally until death? Why is it that Legato is absolutely devoted to Knives, whereas Saxophone Guy shows some bitterness as they meet their ends to fulfill Knives’ plan? How has Knives secured their loyalty despite hating humans so much? See, those would have made for interesting moments, if they weren’t absolutely shunted off to the side in favor of varied scenes of Vash coughing up blood as he spouts his beliefs in a way that’s usually out-of-context for his audience.
Now, in other fighting superpower anime, i would normally expect a character such as Legato to be defeated once the protagonist figures out a weakness or limitation in his psychic powers and adopts a strategy to target that vulnerability. In a good fighting superpower anime, i might expect that a powerful psychic might have some vulnerability based on a psychological issue or two. that’s intuitive, and would not only be satisfying for the protagonist’s development to figure all that out, it would simultaneously provide an opportunity for deeper characterization of said psychic villain.
the swerve that instead Vash wins by losing, that is, by finally being forced into a situation where he has to (temporarily) violate his own moral code and shooting Legato dead was somewhat dramatic but only because of the buildup. Actually, one thing I unreservedly applaud Trigun about is the restraint they demonstrated in having Vash not even fire a gun for like the first five or six episodes which, in a 26~ episode show is quite an investment. It also spent even more time building  up like 24-25 episodes of Vash not killing anyone, and then suddenly he did. But that’s the only reason it was remotely dramatic. Legato was an enigma and and obstacle but ended up being an empty contrivance, which was disappointing.
in many early episodes, it was very clearly laid out what the villain and guest protagonists’ motives were and why they had them. the writer(s) clearly knew how to do that even within the span of a single mostly self-contained episode. and that makes the bundles of unanswered questions that Legato’s role in the story and also his existence altogether raise that much more grating on my suspension of disbelief.
As soon as Legato’s whole dilemma was resolved, i couldn’t really engage with the story anymore, save to watch the last few episodes for the sake of doing so, and also out of curiosity for where the writers were going with everything. but i was no longer invested in the characters, because at some point they started saying and doing things in a manner meant to tie a bow on the themes the writers had been harping on the whole series, but not in a way that demonstrated any internal consistency or believability as far as the characters themselves.
Vash and Meryl never tell anyone who Knives is because the writers need Vash to forever be a falsely-accused and persecuted Christ analogue. it’s so freaking transparent, and that’s one of a number of similarly unsatisfying elements to Trigun, and it’s a darned shame. because so much of the show is interesting and promising, but it doesn’t really have the follow-through. idk maybe the manga explains everything.
Finally, there’s no good reason why Knives didn’t just kill Meryl and Milly after Legato died. I’m not saying this because I wanted their characters dead or anything. I’m saying it because if Knives’ whole motivation is to hurt Vash, and if Knives thinks of humans like cockroaches, then why wouldn’t he kill Meryl and Milly not long after Vash breaks his own code against killing just to save them? Why not drive that final nail in the coffin just to spite Vash?
All we know about Knives is that he’s Vash, but evil, he wants to wipe out humanity because he thinks they are inferior to them, and he wants to break Vash emotionally. Everything he does is motivated by spite towards Vash, and misanthropy, so killing Meryl and Milly while Vash is sulking over the abstract notion of taking a human life due to killing Legato would be the final insult to injury and would be 100% consistent with everything we know about Knives.
And this is why I couldn’t stay engaged with Trigun. Vash only adheres to his beliefs because the villains don’t do everything that’s within their power to break him. I’m not saying I wanted a grimdark downer ending. I’m saying that the only reason Trigun doesn’t have one is because the writers wanted a good ending, which clashed with everything they set up. Vash’s reaffirmation of his beliefs simply isn’t earned, not in my book, because the only reason they remain intact is because of either laziness or neglect on the part of Knives or the writers.

March 14th-March 20th, 2020 Creator Babble Archive
The archive for the Creator Babble chat that occurred from March 14th, 2020 to March 20th, 2020.  The chat focused on the following question:
How do you react to readers predicting your plot twists?
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
Depends when they do. A page or two before it happens? Both of us get to feel clever. Yay! Months ahead? Well, obviously the thing I thought a a big twist ain't it, so I get to decide what other thing to focus on. I usually don't change the plot on reader predictions, but I can always change how a twist is presented from "Big surprise! Bet you didn't expect that" to "Well, ain't it neat to FINALLY have confirmation about that thing?"
Funnily, the best plottwist I ever wrote was in my now defunct comic. I thought it was obvious, but my few readers went "WOAH, didn't see THAT coming." So these days I try to just write the story and let the twists fall where they may.
Pistashi
ASDFPHIaewpf a friend of mine was reading my comic and he was making a lot of theories, a bunch of them was way off but he managed to be 100% accurate about one of his theories and I just started laughing nervously when he talked to me about it before it happened in the comic. This was years ago and the thing already happened and it's not a big deal anymore, but at the time I felt proud to write something that was obscure enough to not be on the reader's face but at the same time having someone figure it out after connecting the dots
I have little twists that happen in a more funny way, and it's usually used for comedy, and my readers seem to like it
but that's probably because of the expectations in humor coming from my writing style
which is usually bad puns and character reactions to absurd situations
and I agree witch chalcara, sometimes we can feel like we failed a plot twist when people see it from miles away
which is true, but sometimes even when they figure it out it's best to leave it as it is
I've seen a lot of writers fucking up their stories by changing plot twists that were stablished just because "people found out too early", and retconing a lot of the story in result
like, making a plot twist consists in creating some kind of foreshadowing
to make the twist not seem too forced and taken from nowhere
also to make it rewarding for those who searched deep for those clues
idk I love these little foreshadowing/clues we can leave for our readers
to make the twists even more powerful and meaningful
RebelVampire
I want to second a lot of the above. A plot twist should not be completely unguessable. Because if nobody guesses it, it means to most readers it's gonna feel like it makes no sense and came out of nowhere. The goal of a true twist is to have as few people as possible guess it but then when it's revealed, the reader smacks their head going "how could I miss all these clues."
Pistashi
exactly
Deo101 [Millennium]
Readers predicting things usually makes me lead with "oh no, I'm predictable!!!" And then makes me thing "wait, no, it means they're picking up on the hints I've left behind." Though sometimes it's predictable, like if someone guesses the actions of the next few pages, that's less of the readers picking up on hints and more just guessing right. But guessing big plot things, j think, is a reflection that I'm making things as clear as I need to, and I'm rather fond of it
Tantz Aerine (Without Moonlight)
99% of the times I am delighted if they guess the plot twist. I like it when I feel like my readers are on the same page as me (pun ...maybe not intended?) and see where things are going. Since my stuff is character driven, it tells me they can read the characters and their personalities well enough. However there was this one time when I had intentionally depicted something that was not going to be the historical norm (namely the p-51 mustangs' coats of paint on a cruiser in the opening scene of my WWII webcomic Brave Resistance). A war history buff called me out on it IMMEDIATELY saying "wait, these aren't how they're supposed to be!" and nearly spoiled the entire plot on page 2! I had to DM him to tell him to tone it down, and explain to him why the planes where the way they were. He apologized and stopped, but I'd wanted to throttle him for a while there
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I agree with Rebel re: the purpose of a plot twist. In that sense, though, I don't think my story even has plot twists. There is no moment anywhere in the story where I want the readers to go "how could I have missed all the clues!!!" ... On the spectrum of brainy vs hearty, my story is very close to the extreme end of hearty. Like, think of stories like The Little Prince or My Sweet Orange Tree. Even when unexpected things happen, it's never about the brilliant reveal. The most shocking thing in My Sweet Orange Tree comes out of nowhere, and it works for that book. Heart of Keol is a lot like those two in this regard. Not exactly the same, but pretty dang similar!
So back to the question, honestly? I want people to be able to guess. The usual bane of my existence is the opposite problem: people not knowing wtf is going on. My story isn't supposed to draw its strength from its surprises, so guess away (edited)
eli [a winged tale]
I love it when the reader guesses the gist of the plot twist a few pages just before the reveal. I sort of follow the novel structure idea that the reader should see what’s coming next right before it hits them, hence rewarding their investment in the story. Wild speculations without the clues I’ve planted are interesting. It does make me wonder if I relied too much on tropes or left too big of the crumbs. That being said, I’m not too fussed by readers predicting the general directions of the plot because it’s all about the character reactions. Could they predict that too? Maybe, to a degree. But there are a lot of subtext I try to write in my characters that give some nuances that I feel may entertain even those who guess correctly how the story would go. TL;DR: guess away. Love reading theories. The story is set so I won’t be changing anything big but perhaps layer the reveal with subtleties.
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
I've actually never had readers guess what's coming next. I mean, unless you count obvious, broad stuff (such as "the MCs get together"). I mean, it IS a romance. But in regards to big plot events, no one has gotten remotely close with their predictions (which kind of surprises me, because I drop clues everywhere). To be fair, I'm only a chapter in, so I guess it makes sense. But I am excited for the day when people finally guess
eli [a winged tale]
Same Cronaj! The predictions I’m speaking of are from my betas reading the entire script I love it when then go—- “omg this [plot point] must mean [reveal!]” .... right before the reveal
Feather J. Fern
If anyone does pick out certian plot twists I will be like "Yesssss people do think like me, I am not crazy" XD because most of my twists are all shown from the start through hidden background things so if people found them I am excited they took time and effort to figure out twists
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
I love it. I haven’t been disappointed about it yet, and I don’t think I will be. It doesn’t make me change the twists at all - in fact, I’ve even shifted some story elements around to give the readers even more confirmation that they’re right, earlier on in the plot. I want to reward them with a treat, and now they can revel in their cleverness a bit longer Hee hee.
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
I love it too, but I don't change things to make readers more right like LadyLazuli does. Sometimes I'm tempted to, though! My readers have good ideas!
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
I like plot twists so I like to set a hint of them off early tbh (edited)
but I try not to make it too obivous :3c
tho for those who like to guess, I welcome it. I like hearing folks and their interpretations even if it's not what I'm going for too lol
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
Admittedly, a lot of it is due to the nature of the medium. I know that webcomics take ages to get to major reveals or spoilers - I can wait to totally-confirm things, but I can't wait to... almost-confirm things? I don't want people to get tired or frustrated. I know I've gotten angry at anime shows that take 20 episodes to confirm something we guessed at episode 1, so I like when these things are all but confirmed early on. It can be really fun to know a secret that, maybe, the heroes don't know. It gives an extra layer of STOP, NO, DON'T GO IN THERE! in times of danger
But given my propensity to practically s c r e a m my spoilers to people who I can trust with the plot... a lot of it is just me bursting at the seams wanting to say YES YOU'RE CORRECT.
Patience and restraint. Essential things in webcomics
eli [a winged tale]
Indeed! So much patience needed I do love some excellent plot twists executed just chefs kiss
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
Yes! I just want to tell readers, "Oh God, you're right! Good job!" But instead I usually respond with a ":)" or "I like this analysis!" Which I think is basically just confirming it. But if it's a real life friend? I cannot resist from telling them everything. I've even spilled spoilers in this chat before, trusting that most people here haven't read my comic. Kind of backfired when I reached a major plot point and someone commented, "She's been waiting to bust out this plot point for so long." Oops, guess someone did read my forum posts. But even if I did spoil things in the comments, is it really that big of a deal? I'm the kind of person where spoilers don't detract from my experience of things and sometimes even adds to it. But some people care about spoilers, so.(edited)
eli [a winged tale]
Haha yeah it’s honestly so freeing to just tell someone about the spoilers
Here’s what I have planned that will wreak the readers muahaha
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Past me could super relate to that! But these days I don't really want to TELL people? I'm not sure if that's because I've changed as a person, or if it's because this story is different from my previous ones. That being said, my patience is not infinite. I am itching to SHOW people. Can't wait to get to those Big Scenes
"Big" is a weird adjective here because they're very small scenes in some ways. Very intimate/personal
But... you guys know what I mean. The scenes that every longform webcomicker is dying to get to
Mei
Oh gosh, I agree that plot twists shouldn't be entirely out of the blue, since it's nice to have the hints that give people the crumbs to follow a trail. But like, since I write a lot of these chapters way in advance, and if I had the chance I'd love for them to be readable in one go as opposed to a page per week, I fear that I'm boring people with a predictable punchline? That being said, I get so many comments that predict the end of the chapter or the punchline or the joke. And I'm always like "haha maybe????" but inside i'm like "oh my god, they got me, THEY GOT ME"
Ohh yeah keii I get what you mean
the scenes you're like, checking your watch, checking your current pagecount, and thinking "soon I'll get to draw it, and it will be marvellous"
eli [a winged tale]
Oh gosh those scenes for me are at the finale
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
TBH last time I got to one of those scenes (which was very recent), my anxiety skyrocketed because I was expecting someone to say something harsh. Because it happened in all of the previous ones. But this time it went well, so hopefully the future ones will, too?
eli [a winged tale]
Yay!
Deo101 [Millennium]
I think for me, I worry more than anything that it will ruin things for other readers, rather than me worrying so much about someone guessing right or me sharing spoilers.
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Someone DID say something harsh, but it was right before the actual scene and not about the scene and a lot of people got fed up with their attitude so I felt like it wasn't my fault, lol
eli [a winged tale]
Ruin things for other readers? Oh like someone predicting correctly in the comments?
Deo101 [Millennium]
Also yay! I always get anxiety about those kinds of scenes
Yes, someone predicting Something
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Well thought-out predictions are a lot of fun to read though, as a reader going through the comment section
eli [a winged tale]
I guess I stopped minding it and now embrace it they could be wrong or right and who knows until we get there~
Oh totally!
Deo101 [Millennium]
Oh I don't mind so much, but that doesn't mean I don't worry a bit too!
J like reading them for me, but I still think "I wonder if this will ruin it for someone else"
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Occasionally there are problems with Korean webcomics that were originally webnovels? Because people who've read the novel version sometimes spoil things in the comic comment section, and that's not cool. They're not even theorizing, they're straight up spoiling.
Deo101 [Millennium]
:(
eli [a winged tale]
Oh no that’s bad
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
But if people are theorizing, and the theories turn out to be right, that's all very fun IMO!
Mei
ugh when people spoil things it irritates me to no end. Let people enjooy it for what it is!
and yes!! that's one of my fave things too
Deo101 [Millennium]
Yeah, every reader is different though. I have some people who explicitly have asked me not to share spoilers, and others who kinda beg for them! So I worry if some people don't like to see predictions (I know my dad doesn't like when I guess things in a movie)
Mei
theorising, discussing with other fans, just chatting about what you think may or may not happen
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Sometimes you even see comments like "Hurry up, Konans! I'm too tired to think, so post some good interpretations/theories!" lol (Konan as in the detective... in Korea, it's a term for hardcore theorizers in webcomic comment sections)
Oh, I think movies are different
I don't want any form of verbal remarks while I'm watching a movie
Or like, if I'm marathonning a show with my bro, we're entirely silent except between episodes.
But comment section is like, you have to actually go there.
Deo101 [Millennium]
Some people might be like that for comics, too. Idk. I'm not trying to say i don't like to see theories I'm just trying to think of everything that makes me worry about them is all.
And for me, the biggest worry would be that someone seeing a prediction would make them enjoy my comic less. It doesn't mean I necessarily think it's all that common, but I refuse to say it won't happen I think
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Personally, I think that's not an issue unless you confirm the commenter's theories
like I've seen theories for things online where my first reaction is "that's dumb, that would never happen" and then it happens
some people will latch onto another person's theory, others will reject it, but i don't think people will take it as a spoiler in advance
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Yeah, theories are just theories
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I mean I know some people don't even want to hear other readers' theories, but if they are that extreme, they need to avoid the comment section on their own IMO?
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
^^
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
like... cool, I respect your preferences, but you can't hold me responsible, pal!
Deo101 [Millennium]
Again I'm not trying to say I don't like theories or I don't want them I'm just trying to think of all potential issues with them
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Granted, I'm one of those people who will scroll through the comments and read theories because I like to see all the smart people reveal the clues to dumb people like me
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I can relate to that
@Deo101 [Millennium] Understandable! Just don't be too hard on yourself for things that you can't control
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Those geniuses that remember details from 30 chapters ago and somehow manage to connect the dots
Mei
Exactly! The comment section is there, but it's their choice to read it, and also like it's not your fault either? like they're not YOUR comments
haha in our RPG games sometimes people drop character plot hints way at the start of the campaign, and my friend will turn up, 7 months later, " remember when Character A said this? I remember"
and everyone's like "what the heck?!" some people are just detectives
they can see it, they see the matrix
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Anyway, I love when my readers theorize! I don't believe any reader has guessed any of the major plot twists in the first two books, despite there being enough evidence beforehand to make a guess (closest was "whatever zebugu's doing, it's not evil this time" but not the specifics of what he was doing). Though, if they had, I wouldn't mind, since that's max two years they gotta wait before the reveal (and that's assuming they guess it on the cover page lol). Book 3 is a different beast - strictly speaking, there's enough evidence for someone to predict both twists at the end of the book, right now. And... that may be an issue, given that this book will take over three years to reach those twists. So... we'll see if anyone guesses them. What's weirdest is when people guess things almost correctly with absolutely NO hints. And it's some super specific and minor thing like "Mizuki is secretly the reincarnation of a thousand-year-old dragon". Like... there haven't even been dragons mentioned in the comic up to this point. Nor any events from a thousand years ago. And like, that's not exactly the truth, but how do you get THAT close???(edited)
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
They see E V E R Y T H I N G
eli [a winged tale]
Sometimes it’s a trope thing? But yeah wild speculations can be so wild but so spot on
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
but there aren't any fantasy creatures in the comic, at all!
except a squid with feet!
eli [a winged tale]
Lol whaaaat then yea not sure where the dragon part came from then
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Sherlock Holmes readers lol
eli [a winged tale]
Yeah detective Conan lol
Deo101 [Millennium]
Joke gone awry
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
basically
Feather J. Fern
Well I mean I have crack theories about random people being random things too so...
I can see where they come from XD
sagaholmgaard
tbh I think my comic is fairly easy to predict as it has a pretty straightforward narrative xD but I don't have that many readers yet so maybe in the future! I would have fun reading people's guesses and predictions :D
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
AAA my readers right now are so accurate. They're so smart. They make me want to post my entire buffer right now and prove them right.
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I wonder if anyone would be able to predict the next things happening in joe is dead
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
I at least have no idea what's going to happen next but am looking forward to it anyways(edited)
🌈ERROR404 🌈
i know that it's only because TH is still quite new, and I haven't gotten to the meat of the story yet, but i like reading some of the really out there predictions and worries i get in some of the comments lol
AntiBunny
I will never tell someone if their guess is right or wrong, but if they do guess it, it probably means I'm foreshadowing well.
Then again I also find myself writing by the seat of my pants, so plans are subject to change.
kayotics
The original question mentions “plot twists” but I’m never trying to make a plot twist personally. I may intentionally obfuscate things, but I don’t ever try to do wild twists and turns. So when a reader predicts what will happen, I actually don’t mind, and I’m pretty happy that it’s following a logical chain of events. On the other hand, when readers are totally off base, I think that’s REALLY fun.
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
Most of my readers feel that my comics are twisty and surprising, but I often get at least one reader who correctly guesses what will happen, even if sometimes they’re joking or think their theory is wild and out there. Honestly it feels pretty awesome to have a reader shrewd enough to puzzle out the clues, because that means they’re really paying attention. I don’t have a very big audience and most of the time they’re silent, so anytime someone leaves a comment that is carefully thought out, it makes me really happy. As for the times readers joke or wildly speculate but inadvertently hit the nail right on the head, I find those very amusing. I really love stories with well done twists and turns, and so I try very hard to execute good plot twists that have enough foreshadowing to be ‘Aha!’ moments rather than ‘Where did that even come from?’ moments. So I love when readers are both properly misdirected AND when they pick up on the clues and deduce the twist.(edited)
DanitheCarutor
Does my comic have plot twists? I don't really think about it. People have correctly guessed things that will happen in a chapter, someone even guessed correctly on the climax when a character named Daniel was introduced... well, it was more like "I hope things don't turn out like -blank-!". I don't mind, just because they guessed something correctly doesn't mean they know how the story will go for sure, it just means that they're theorizing and that is something I always encourage. I don't think that means the story is boring or predictable either, some people are just really good at that stuff. Even though I don't think my comic is very mysterious/unpredictable it's still impressive when someone pays attention to all the little visual and dialogue details, then guessing correctly about a future event based on them. Nothing more flattering than someone enjoying your comic enough to analyze it.
Lmao! I can't tell you how many movies I've ruined for people because I guessed a plot twist correctly.
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
Haha, honestly same. I’m not allowed to make predictions during movies or TV shows anymore bc I almost always get it right. XD Webcomics I find a bit more unpredictable, though, because most of them aren’t nearly as formulaic as mainstream film.
DanitheCarutor
Yeah! Even if it's not obvious most of the time movies go by a pattern or set of traits, once you learn how they go a film or TV show becomes a lot more easy to figure out right away. The only time I'm stumped is when the movie is really surreal or absolutely awful. That's the nice thing about webcomics in a way. I assume a lot of creators haven't had professional training, and we want to tell a story more than be entertaining to the masses, so stories are less predictable. They don't always go by a formula, which can be refreshing.
Capitania do Azar
Aw man I would love to have some theories, but for the time unfortunately I don't I'm always super curious about how readers interpret things given they don't have an inside view of things

ThisFanfiction Questions
Wow that is a lot of questions, nosy much? Jk thanks friend :D
7. List your NoTPs from each fandom you’ve been in.
I don’t know that I have proper NoTPs just ones I am not really fond of - especially in fanworks. Idk why but for some reason fanfiction about a canon couple is just boring to me, I already know they are together so why would I need more stories about it?
One Piece: Luffy and well... anyone. He is too in love with adventure to have a romance and lets be real, always feels like a little kid unless he is in one of his “gotta win or everyone is screwed” serious moments.
Fairy Tail: I do not like Ju.via and Gray, enough that I don’t even want to chance her name ending with this in her tag because many people in that fandom are toxic and last time I dared say I don’t like this ship I got bitched at for it. Sorry, I just don’t find stalking someone until they give in to be romantic.
Naruto: I do not get people liking Sasuke with pretty much anyone, but especially Sakura or Naruto. He is an ass to them repeatedly and they both deserve better - and being very honest, he deserved much stricter punishment for all the ship he pulled.
Star Wars: I am going to preface this with this: I haven’t seen Clone Wars. Not all of it. Probably won’t. But I don’t like the Obi-Wan and Satine relationship. Everything I have seen of it just doesn’t jive for me, even though both voice actors are adorably sweet and meeting them was a blast.
Swtor: I have not done all the romances yet, so this may change, but the SW and Jaesa is just... disappointing. Its mostly about her being possessive and manipulative and very little actual romance. The other SW relationships prove is doesn't have to be that way, so why is she? I get that they were probably going for the whole “fallen Jedi going balls to the wall crazy” but yeah, didn’t need to happen and I hated it so much I cut the romance planes I had for her and Tully even though I already planned to write it differently.
8. How did you get involved in your latest fandom?
I started playing Swtor and didn’t know about the romance options so when I could suddenly flirt with Doc I even stopped playing to turn to my husband and go “omg I can flirt with this guy?” He knew this of course and was just like “yeah...” (Honestly I had made a trial account for swtor when it first came out and if I had known about the romance options in the stories I probably would have staying with it instead of forgetting about the game). It was only a matter of time before I wanted to write a story about Noara and Doc, because I did totally ship them until a certain blond Mandalorian made his presence known.
17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?
First otp... I think that would be Nami and Trafalgar Law from One Piece. I love them so much, even now despite not being active in the fandom and soooo behind on both the manga and the anime. They are not my current favorite though, that has to be Noara and Torian.
23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.
Oh goodness a fic I am especially fond of? And why? Thats a tough one because I have little bits of love for all of them but I mean.... A Poor Stand In is probably one of my favorite things I have ever written for many reasons, the subject matter, approach and reactions mainly. Plus it just makes me laugh, I find it very funny on a lot of levels. Still waiting for someone to ask me wtf is wrong with me that I wrote this but since no one has maybe people are more into Khem then they like to admit? ;)
On a more serious note I am very fond of Well Played Cadera because I like the blend of Noara’s anxiety and fears, the arguing, the humor. Torian is a little shit in it and is so right to be, and it works too. He is figuring out how to get his Jedi to listen to him, even if it means taking off all his clothing.
41. List and link to 5 fanfics you are currently reading:
I have been terrible about reading fanfiction lately but  seeing as how my Goodreads challenge is sitting at 98/30 for the year I am going to cut myself some slack and just say I am on a sicfi romance novel kick that is taking precedence over fanworks. That being said there are some that of course I am following and even if I am a little behind on I totally intend to catch up.
Heart on a Trigger by @cinlat
Part 4 of the Meet Me On The Battlefield series about Mandalorian turned Republic Trooper Fynta Wolfe and Aric Jorgan, plus a large cast of other amazing characters (like Cormac, I love that big fluffy teddy bear). I am sure anyone paying attention to my blog is surpsied I am keeping up with this one, I get sneak peaks at updates before they come out (or are even edited properly) and my girl Noara is a small background character.
Something Better by @shimmersing
This was recently finished and omg, I need to go read it all but I just know it’s going to be good. I adore the way Shimmer writes Aitahe and Erithon and, honestly, it being a non-canon couple availabe in game makes it just that much more appealing to me (because no matter how this JC and Trooper end up together, it’s new to me and not just rehashing the game, makes it exciting!).
Abundance of Faith by Laivaaja
The Summary: Star Wars Fan Comic: Emperor Palpatine's suspicions of Darth Vader grow intolerable, which will cause the Empire and the Imperial Navy to be torn into two separate directions. Several officers will step up in this time of confusion, and Darth Vader will form new surprisingly faithful alliances.Yeah that’s it, great art, comic book story telling, Vader being surprised by his men. It’s a fun ride.
Chaos and Opportunity by @inquisitorhotpants
I haven’t read it in a while, but anything I have read as many times as I have this one needs to be on this list. I love the dynamic between Marr and Kryn and how their relationship develops and the way this story doesn’t accept canon (I was so concerned about Marr’s in game death and at least in this story about them that didn’t happen and I for one am thankful for it).
The One That Got Away by @punsbulletsandpointythings
Another SW but not Swtor one, this one has so much wonderful angst, fluff, humor and love in it and every update has left me dying to know what was going to happen next. Give me some time travel possibly doomed from the start romance any day.
46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend  to them and why?
Humm... of works only written by me probably I’ve Got You even though I haven't updated in ages (I have been working on it the last few days though, that has to count for something) because it is what really got me back into writing after not doing it in a long time and the main story really exploring how a Jedi and a Mandalorian can work out in a relationship.
Of things I wrote with @cinlat Thunder and Scars for sure. The whole undertaking of this fic was both so much fun but also such a labor of love and heartache. There is one scene in it that even thinking about it now makes me tear up a little and I am not usually that emotional. Exploring those emotions through Noara and the family she found with Fynta, Cormac and Aric was a wonderful learning experience both for her as a character and me as a writer.
