I've thought about this a lot and I'd really love to hear quimchee talk about it but I don't know if she'll be able to until later, in case it's right and it was an indication of Nol lol
I remember her once saying that there isn't anything to read into re: the title, that it was just something she came up with because she's bad at titles and it wasn't meant to be an indication of anything but... she's also said things to throw us off the trail before or to evade giving spoilers lol so I don't know if that was truthful or not?
Because the romance is such a secondary thing I've always taken what she said at face value because I think the main focus of the story is still so much about those interpersonal relationships, the way Shinae was accidentally drawn into this very complex family drama and how she sort of got centered between these two brothers with a really messed up dynamic, and how becoming involved with that affected her own life. But, yeah lol with a lot of the development we've seen up until now, it sure comes off that way, right?
I have a friend who also reads (though she hasn't caught up in ages and I am dying waiting for her to lol) who ships Dieter and Shinae but when we got to episode 151 when Nol called her Yoo for the first time she was like "Ohhhhh I see it's going to happen huh" lol and I hadn't! Even thought about that? Because I really did take what quimchee said at face value lmao and now I want her to talk about it one day - if she really intentionally named it that or not!
Cos yeah, even now he still continues to call her Yoo, and right, he's the ONLY one who does, and I think he will for a while. Someone I was talking with on reddit pointed out that it was because Shinae had told him if she's not allowed to be familiar with him, he can't be familiar with her and call her by her name - which I had definitely forgotten about lol - and we think that's probably what it is?
Gonna stick some spoilers under this read more now hehehe
Even as VERY FAMILIAR as Nol is acting with her, he's still calling her Yoo and he's probably struggling with that disconnect. He doesn't think himself allowed to be familiar with her yet, after everything that's happened, so he still calls her Yoo, even though he seems to be acting on more familiar instincts. The closeness, the touching, the dance invitation!!! These are SO INCREDIBLY FAMILIAR.
And yet, who he is he to her? Is he ready for her to call him Nol, Nolan? Does he still want to be Yeonggi? If he can't let her use Nol, does that mean he can't call her Shinae? If he goes by Yeonggi, that's still unfamiliar, right, because he's using his mask. So even though he's acting on these wants, being familiar with her in a way they hadn't (consciously) previously been, in his mind he cannot call her Shinae yet, because he cannot be Nol yet.
(I think that will be INCREDIBLY exciting future development, when not only he's able to call her by her name again, but when he will let her call him Nol. The name that once was so precious to him has been marred and demeaned and now feels like a branding of what he means to that family, but I think when he's ready to take that name back, to reclaim it and let it be something special again, and when he lets Shinae use it is going to be a big, BEAUTIFUL moment. I think he's far from that yet - Nol has been used against him for so many years, it will take a lot of undoing for the name to become something special for him again. But GOD when Shinae gets to use it ;~; I will cry. When his friends get to call him Nol, I will cry ;~;)
So!!!! To respond to you basically - I FULLY had not considered it that way because I will believe what people tell me until proven otherwise LMAO but it definitely feels really suspicious at this point now that it's been 50+ episodes and Nol still cannot use her name, and will probably continue to, and who else does it?! But also yeah, because this was so romance secondary I had never considered it to mean anything pertaining to romance? So idk! We'll see in time won't we lol. I'm always interested in hearing what other peoples' interpretations are, because for a while, my working interpretation has been that Shinae has inadvertently gotten involved in so many peoples' lives and, much as Yeonggi did with her, she's grown to become this very special person, so in a sense, so many people have come to love her? But also again I just believed that quimchee threw together a pun and said i guess this works and it was too late to ever change it LMAOOOOOO
ANYWAY DON'T FEEL DUMB! I think a lot of us took what quimchee said at face value and have just never thought anything else of it LMAO so being the first time you're reading it that way definitely isn't dumb!

Really sorry if this is a dumb question but how did dantteri become a thing? Is there some masterpost out there I could read? Thank you and sorry if this is stupid!
long story short is that dantteri became a thing bc daniel ricciardo is incapable of being normal about valtteri bottas. like. physically unable. the rest is under the cut.
here’s a brief rundown of their history by the great ag tumblr user @andreagrimes themselves. i will wait for you to read it. i will also wait for you to read this masterpiece of modern poetry by lo tumblr user @hungerpunch. both are mandatory reading btw!!!!!!!
they basically came up together and their rivalry when they were younger v much dictated where they ended up in formula one (daniel to redbull and valtteri to merc) but they were never friends! this is not pierresteban or brocedes. these two are Something Else
they just raced against each other. and then they’re in f1 (daniel first. valtteri a year later) and daniel’s career starts off more successful than valtteri’s. starting with him getting a race win first and ending with him jumping v quickly into redbull and beating four time wdc sebastian vettel while valtteri is in a williams (and tbf does quite well but like. it’s still a williams) and then goes into merc with lewis. and. ok. it’s lewis hamilton yk. and so he never beat lewis but i will fight anyone who says that valtteri didn’t do a fucking amazing job while in merc. that just anyone could've been put in the position and seat that he was put in and not only handled it that well but also performed to that high of a level. you don’t need to beat your teammate to have done good! esp when said teammate is lewis fucking seven eight time world champion yeah i have over 100 race wins what about it hamilton who says HIMSELF that valtteri pushed him. that valtteri was faster than him in some races. pls be serious!!!!!!!
and as ag says. while this is all happening daniel makes comments about valtteri’s position in merc and being a second driver. there’s an interview with max when he’s in redbull where he’s asked what was the best race he ever did or smth and he names the fucking formula renault race from 2008 where val dominates all weekend and then daniel overtakes him in the last lap and daniel says: thanks, valtteri, nothing has changed. bc he’s fucking insane. (not the interview but a clip of an article talking about that championship). he then LEAVES redbull bc HE doesn’t want to be a second driver. which. fair. and he goes to renault. gets paid a lot of money. gets a podium. dips. goes to mclaren. gets another podium. (which he shares with WHO???? you guessed it. valtteri bottas.) becomes what is essentially a second driver. that shitshow happens. you know the story.
AND DURING ALL OF THIS. smth seems to like. switch on in daniel? idk if it’s bc he seems to be trying to recreate this rivalry he had with val when they were younger and it’s just not there in f1. bc of their circumstances but also bc val does Not Care lmao. or if it’s bc he’s like. omg he’s like. cool i want him to like me. or if it’s both or smth else entirely but he gets Weird. with a capital w.
a v important detail to know is that shoeys are daniel’s thing in formula one. like. they are daniel ricciardo. it’s like seb and the finger. daniel gets everyone who is on the podium with him to do it. literally everyone. he got lando norris who is one of the most squeamish ppl i’ve ever seen on telly to do it. and yet. valtteri and daniel have shared a podium several times and every single time valtteri has dodged it. here is daniel finding out that valtteri has never done it. it’s pure gold.
(also! i just found out from ag that apparently at the end of 2022 bc of daniel’s defending against seb in abu dhabi alfa romeo were able to win p6 in the constructors and so there were some alfa romeo mechanics doing shoeys in celebration. which. god. the layers there! valtteri refusing to do it even when faced with daniel right there but valtteri’s ppl being more than happy to despite daniel not being there….)
as ag reminded me the other day. april fools. 2022. valtteri said that he was going to be coming out with a wine brand. and then after was like. hahaha jokes! jokes! i would never be so cringe and basic 😌. but as we all know. daniel is the most basic of all basic white girlies (gn) and a few days later came out with his own wine and a shoey decanter. the tackiness levels were high and he was soooo delighted with himself.
at one point daniel did ask valtteri to try his wine which it’s like. just fucking ask him out this is getting tiring. and valtteri was like. it’s ok? and daniel apparently nearly swoons at the mere thought of val tasting it. let alone liking it.
jump scene. cue cut. back to 2021 and daniel guessing valtteri for his secret santa bc he was given a bottle of red wine and “i know he likes his red”. spoiler alert: it was not valtteri. and THEN. like a year later i think. valtteri guesses daniel bc and i quote. “someone with taste of, like, funky things, like…it could be daniel?” FUNKY THINGS . is this a compliment. is it an insult. either way i’m fairly sure daniel was buzzin after he heard.
omg and the bottass. so when dts came out in 2021 and valtteri showed his bare ass and balls on tv but netflix only let us see one of them. cheap cunts. daniel had A Moment on twitter. see below:
and then! when valtteri does that whole poster of his ass out in a river for charity thing in 2022? i think? daniel has another Moment but it’s when he’s asked what is smth unusual he wants to do and HE TALKS ABOUT VALTTERI AND HIS ASS PIC ? 🤨 ??? and to add insult to injury. valtteri never once acknowledges this in public but what he DOES do is make a show out of giving a poster to lewis while staring at him like he shits gold after lewis was asked about the poster in an interview and didn’t even know what they were talking about!!!!!! it is literally painful to watch for so many reasons.
you just know daniel was seething. lewis is a fake fan while daniel is a real one!!!!! daniel nearly half recreated the same photo but he’s not in the river and he’s fully clothed. coward. AND he gushed about the pic unprompted!!!! but lewis! who didn’t even KNOW it existed bc he doesn’t have valtteri’s notifs on 🙄 gets a signed copy???? AND A PERSONAL VISIT???? where he has the nerve to say not that he already doesn’t have stuff to remember vb by. all while valtteri is bright pink in the face. i tip my hat off to daniel for not committing vehicle manslaughter right there and then.
and for all that daniel has talked shit about valtteri in the past and more specifically valtteri in mercedes. he had nothing but praise for him going to alfa romeo??? while ppl were like. it’s a step down! what a waste. daniel is like. valtteri isn’t stupid. he knows what he wants and needs and he’s going for it. which!!!!!!! is what daniel tried to do!!!!!!! but it worked out sm better for valtteri than it did for him. which. actually is a running theme throughout their entire careers 😵💫😵💫😵💫 i need three to five business days to recover every time i think about it
and NOW. now. he doesn’t know what to do with that fact that valtteri seems to have adopted australia which has adopted him right back and has an australian gf and has a mullet and mustache and wears flip flops and tanks and is sooo australian but still doesn’t seem impressed by daniel who IS australian ????? his poor brain. bless.
he used to get sooo giggly last year whenever he’d put his camera in val’s face and take a snap. it was hard to watch. literally just go onto daniel's jpg instagram account. there's a few v v close up pictures of valtteri's face. daniel actually captions one with fanboying before - in how eye imagined it went - he chickens out and adds a few more pictures of other drivers to the post after the cover picture of val. disgraceful.

i also need it to be known that for years daniel didn't follow valtteri on social media. despite talking about him A LOT (including the bottass tweets from earlier) until valtteri rocked up with a mullet and a 'what's cracking, australia' vibe and then he caved and followed him on insta. valtteri didn't follow him back.
in summary: daniel got a seat both in f1 and later in a top team and a race win before valtteri. tho valtteri ended up with more wins in the end. daniel joined said top team thinking he was going to be top dog and was pushed into second. valtteri always knew he was second driver before all else. daniel jumped from team to team to escape this before ending up in mclaren's shitbox and regulated to second. once again behind a younger driver. that went tits up so badly that he was left without a seat for the 2022 and had to go back to the top team that he left bc he didn't want to be second driver and signed to be their reserve. valtteri left mercedes with ten wins and the longest q3 consecutive streak ever with 103 weekends to join a team that welcomed him with open arms and gave him a multi year contract. they mirror each other as much as they contrast. what if i cried for a hundred years

suicide attempt mention and s7e3 spoilers
ok aaaaa omg episode 3 was insane. im just gonna compile my feelings here.
i absolutely loved the unity episode in season 2 so getting to see it again was a pleasant surprise.
despite thinking he has some weaker episodes, i really like curtis and think this was a great one. he's a little bit insane and i appreciate that about him.
and i think the wong/curtis/rick dynamic was fantastic. "suck my dick and lose my number" "if you invite me to the wedding i'll shit in the punch" (or yknow whatever those lines were, my memory's not great), absolutely hilarious.
"don't talk to them like that" or something when the president called unity bitch. idk what exactly is the deal with unity's pronouns, but you know that line made my nonbinary ass happy. i do sort of wish they committed to it/its or they/them for unity since even though it's a hivemind it's sorta like female coded? like there's been a lot of drama and bullshit about rick being queer even though unity was like his first love interest we got to see. and hey there's nothing wrong with banging hot alien chicks under the control of a hivemind. i just feel like rick's queerness gets danced around a lot, and dating an entity like unity is sort of a cool microcosmic expression of pansexuality and that aspect could be leaned into more.
rick was a tad too quick to put a gun to his head for comfort, but he has clearly made a lot of progress. where the first unity episode ended with him making an attempt on his life after getting dumped, when unity says it doesn't trust him, here he grabs a drink and goes and sees curtis. i need to actually watch the scenes side by side when i get the chance but the end of this episode did feel like a very intentional parallel to the suicide attempt. that scene has stuck with me for a long time, to the extent that even as i didn't think he was going to attempt again, my stomach flip flopped when he was in the garage.
and i am really proud of rick, don't get me wrong, but does anyone else think it's a little suspicious? i don't think the way he's been taking to people or dealing with stuff has been out of character, just that it's been weird timing, yknow? like there's been a lot going on with his personal relationships this season and he's clearly making an effort to treat people better and work on his mental health. but like why now? when the last season ended, rick was having a mental break the likes of which we've never seen. what brought him from how he was doing at the end of season 6 to how he's doing now? it does worry me a bit to be honest.
this is more about the season as a whole so im just tacking it on the end here, but the animation??? as someone who knows nothing about animation and has square brain, i don't know the right words to describe it, but it's feeling real different in a good way.

because absolutely NOBODY asked, here’s a list of my top ten favourite warriors characters (SO FAR)
a lot of you are gonna hate me for not including/including certain characters tbh but this is just my opinion
Disclaimer: I’m on Book 1 of Power of Three currently, so these characters are mostly comprised of those from TBP and TNP. i’ll probably make an updated list at some point in the future, but for now this is how it stands:
#10–Longtail. He’s just a good guy tbh. From being a meanie at the start, to choosing not to leave Thunderclan with Dark and Tiger, to being forced into early retirement but taking it like a champ, this guy has just come to be one of my favourite cattos in the series.
#9–Mousefur. The icon, the legend. She’s literally unfiltered and completely rude to everyone without even giving a shit. She’s shown to be very opinionated and headstrong, but also displays a caring side when it comes to Longtail’s blindness. 10/10 character for me.
#8—Ravenpaw. Is there anyone out there who actually dislikes this guy? I genuinely think he is the most chill cinnamon roll ever. He just wants to vibe with his husband in a barn and maybe warn firestar about important stuff sometimes. Even tho he’s a loner, he respects the warrior code and understands the clan ways. He’s just so awesome and i love him.
#7—Stonefur. Yeah yeah i know we only really knew him for a few books, but I just really liked his character. He was really brave and noble, loyal to his clan, generally a good guy. His death was so sad and honestly just the fact that he went down fighting made me respect him even more.
#6—Sorreltail. Omg idk why i like her so much. Just when she was a new warrior and was best buddies with Leafpool made me so happy, and then for her to become mates with Brackenfur (more on him later—) was just a very good ship for me. I just think Sorreltail is cool and generally a nice cat.
#5—Dustpelt. The biggest G in the entire clan. Honestly Dustyboi is so awesome and i love him so much. Like at first i really didn’t like him, what with the way he was rude to Fire and generally an unpleasant guy, but he got so much better and now i stan him.
#4—Tallstar. OK ALRIGHT SETTLE DOWN, hear me out. Reason number one why i love him is that he’s gay and cute with Jake and we love that for him. Reason number two is that he’s actually a decent guy and isn’t passive aggressive and weird like the other leaders are, he just wants to vibe on with his clan and be chill with everyone. Idk i grew very attached to Tallstar throughout the first two series.
#3—Brackenfur. AHHHH where to start with Brackenfur. He’s just an amazing guy honestly. Like he’s chill, gets along with everyone, but also very brave and noble in the sense that he would literally die for his clan. I usually get very attached to the vanilla side characters who have no real plotlines so this is very expected of me, i just really love brackenfur and his character.
#2—Cinderpelt. Not a DAY GOES BY where i don’t cry over her tragic death and the mountains of wasted potential. Fricking Starclan really had to reincarnate her? What was the point of killing her? Ik it probably had something to do with Leafpool being ✨ special ✨ and the only medicine cat, but come on man. Just look at cinder. Look at how cool and awesome she is.

#1—The most amazing cat ever to be seen, my guy WHITESTORM!!! Honestly come at me for not putting greystripe or squilf in here, idc. Whitestorm for me is an example of what a warrior cat SHOULD be. He was smart, brave, loyal, trustworthy, chill…he literally had no flaws. Like what did man ever do that was controversial? I cant think of anything, i mean correct me if i’m wrong. A random headcanon: Yeet and Killa end up kinda loaded by the end of s1 - they even have a house and everything! But I think transitioning to a life where they can just,,, be kids without having to fight to the death every day to put food on the table,,, is pretty difficult for the both of them. I think Yeet probably goes hunting for their food rather than buying it at the various markets around them - frugality is a habit at this point even if they're relatively well-off, and the satisfaction of having a successful hunt curbs his adrenaline cravings. How he manages to be stealthy with a skateboard for feet? Idk but I'll leave that up to your imagination.
General Opinion over said character: BELOVED. He is so cool and pretty,,, if I was a teen in the Forgotten Realms he would awaken the comphet in me I just know it.

I don't see them talked about a whole lot but I think their dynamic could be soooo interesting! Like you've been fighting for the majority of your life and all of a sudden this new kid gets shipped in and he's clearly not from anywhere you've ever been and he's wearing strange clothes but you can see the relief in his face when he spots you and your brother for the first time. And this kid is so clearly out of his depth and he's anxious and scared and he gets kinda sad sometimes but goddamnit, you want to see him get out of this alive. Even when his brain function seems to shut down around Yeet. Perhaps especially then, because it's nice to see someone besides you caring about your sibling for once.
A NOTP I have with said character: I'm pretty open to anything, but I definitely couldn't see Killa with any of the kiddads. Sorry!
A random headcanon: Killa is pretty good with hair! She always does Yeet's for him and helps him out on wash days - I imagine it's pretty hard to style your own hair without a mirror, so Killa and Yeet will help wash and style each other's. A small amount of Killa's portion of award money always goes toward hair products and cute little hair accessories like cuffs and beads and such - it's something that can remind them both that there's more to life than just the games. And, of course, it gives both of them a few more cool points, which is very important. Gotta slay while you slay, yk!
General Opinion over said character: CRIMINALLY underrated. I love her so much and I need to know more about her. Please please please bring her and Yeet back for s2 Anthony. Please it would be so cool,,,

or well, at least he had a friend like that, you know, before he pushed them away

it was sad to be honest, or more specifically lonely. the friend they had supported all their life, the friend they had turned to whenever they were sad, the friend whose side they stood by through thick and thin had pushed them aside
their blue haired friend was going through a "phase" as you could call it, he wanted to be perceived as a troublemaker, a tough guy who did mischevious deeds. and being friends with someone who had the reputation of a sweetheart was not really fitting for that reputation. and so the two unspeakable friends were suddenly separated
meanwhile the friend kept coming back

they were a fool to put it simply. a fool attached to their childhood dream of having a close friend. and they tried so hard to stay by his side. to keep supporting him through every one of his decisions
but in every relationship, friendship or not, there needs to be mutual affection for it to work. not just one sad fool, a jester in their own castle, who clings to every pice of affection shown towards them as if they'll fall into the abyss if they let go

they considered themselves a smart person. someone who can realise when they are unwanted and yet, they couldn't seem to be able to step away from their friend. they were unable to stop themself from checking at their phone, waiting for a text that would signal them hanging out with deuce

everyone was worried about them. "it's fine" they claimed. "he's just been busy, so have i" they said. how many excuses have they come up with so they could lie to the ones who cared about them? or maybe they were lying to themself, they needed those lies to be happy
imagine a flower hidden from the sun. it needs the sunlight, but it is not given to the flower. it tried to find it, but someone placed it in the shadows and therefore it can do nothing but try to get close to its beloved sunlight before it dies
except their sun was not rising just so he wouldn't give sunlight to them

the truth was quite simple, once they were friends, shared every moment together, sad or not, they had made plans together for the future. and now? now they were nothing more than mere strangers, just like they had started
years of friendship down the drain for the sake of being "cool". pretty funny, isn't it?

the worst thing in all of this was probably watching him with his friends at school or outside
for so long it had been them standing by his side, only for them to be replaced?
call them dramatic but losing such a close friend of theirs affected them a lot. it was as if their whole world had crashed down around them and someone was keeping them from rebuilding it
and the years passed like that, with the well-known sweetheart avoiding one person in particular as they focused on everything but him
and then it was time for both of them to be enrolled at the same college, NRC. and -you wouldn't guess- their luck is so good that they were put in the same dorm as deuce
but speaking of deuce, what about him?

deuce knew he had fucked up. he knew that what he did was horrible, and now that he had gone out of that delinquent phase of his, he wanted to do nothing more than apologise to his old friend
he missed how they took care of any injuries he had after falling, he missed them sharing their lunch cause he forgot his, he missed them listening to him talking. and most of all, he missed their presence. he missed the warm smile they gave him and their melodic laugh
he thought that enough time had passed so that they would move over what happened, forgive and forget and all that. except he hadn't considered how hurt his old friend was, and how stuck on the past they were, for a good reason that is
and so every time he tried approaching them they turned away, avoiding him like that plague

was he asking for too much? he just wanted his friend back! he knew he had wronged them but they could talk it over and make up, just like that! they weren't children anymore, were they? there was no need for petty arguments!
except of course if one of the two had years of pent up anger and pain caused by the other, then petty arguments were the way to go I suppose

and so it went, argument after argument, one each day. there were countless times when they were collared by their dorm leader because they were causing a ruckus, and he was right to do that
their fights were messy. no insults were thrown at eachother, there was a time when they cared for eachother so they didn't have the heart to be mean to eachother
but there were some ugly remarks being made
"You've got to act your age, darling"
"can't you just listen to me for one second?"
"couldn't you have, you know, not pushed me aside for literally no reason?"
"grow up"
yet another screaming match between the two. not the first one, and probably not the last one either
they say that, if two people are trying to solve a problem, there needs to be proper communication between them. can you see what the two heroes of our story are lacking? just that, exactly
"I was a kid, I was dumb, I get it and I'm sorry" yelled the ravenette, desperate to have his friend back. "good thing you realised you were dumb, but I was also a kid! and I was there for you since we were babies! you pushed me aside deuce, without any reason. you looked at me as if I was a stranger! you ignored me and never even gave me a reason why!" they screamed at his face, their eyes glossy, tears threatening to spill from their anger.
"do you k own how much that hurt? I was lying to everyone -i was lying to my own self for seven's sake- saying that 'oh no we're still friends. he still cares about me'. bullshit!" they kept on yelling as tears started running down their face
and then he realised how much he had hurt them. how much his own stupid actions had fucked up his most valued friendship
"Before you fall back in"
"I'm sorry" was the inky thing he could say the feeling of guilt running through his mind, like a virus infecting a body and making it weak, only able to respond to said virus
guilt, shame, regret, despair
he realised he had opened pandora's box, and he didn't know if there was hope at the bottom of it.

ORILLIUM’S MAGIC SYSTEM
(For reference, Orillium is the name of the kingdom the trilogy is set in — the whole series is called The Orillium Saga, because there are multiple stories within the kingdom I plan on publishing eventually! The Code Trilogy is the main trilogy and takes place primarily from the perspective of Ikah Ghild, Brei’s younger sister. Her name used to be Ilse until someone here recommended a cooler name GDKDHKS)
To explain the magic system, I’m gonna start by explaining the world and how the magic works before delving into specifics. The whole world that The Orillium Saga (aka The Code Trilogy) exists in a state of binary code — think of it like a website!! The average user of a website, or average citizen in this series, sees the website only. But if you know where to look and what to click, you can see the binary code that creates the website: if you’re really good and knowledgeable, you can alter the code to varying extents. This is how the world works in The Orillium Saga — a majority of people can’t work the code, but for those who can, they can manipulate the world in different ways, to different power levels.
Most people in the series have limited abilities: coding is hard work, takes a lot of concentration, and often works best when taught by expensive tutors. For a majority of coders, their abilities stop at very basic, but useful, alterations: if a machine stops working, they can access the code to fix it; if they want to heat something up/cool something down, it takes seconds to rewrite part of the code to do so; if they run out of a basic household item, they can duplicate a revised version of its code to give them a lifetime supply. Basic, but so useful: most content themselves with coding that’s been taught to them by their family, and don’t push for more.
For those with the money or status to get training, however… The story changes entirely. For example, Brei has the ability to rewrite entire chunks of world code — not just the code of objects, but the code of the world, or of other people. They’re not alone in this — many other coders associated with money/power can also do this — but Brei’s powers veer into a different type of coding I’ve called hacking, until I can think of a different name for it. Hacking is the most powerful version of coding: it involves duplicating part of the world code, and using it to create “pocket worlds,” that exist outside of the normal world. Brei is the only person to have done this in recent times, and the first time they DID, it was an accident: it also almost resulted in their death.
Coding is reversible. Hacking is not. Brei’s pocket world remains no matter what, and their futile attempts to get rid of it only result in glitching, error, and further injury. There’s a reason Brei is so against anyone else trying to use hacking. Unfortunately for them, Ryn Altenchild has plans of her own, and so does Ikah.
Tldr; coding = legal but rare, hacking = illegal and rarer.
DEITIES + OTHER CHARACTERS
Brei is hands down my favourite character, but the most complicated character to write by FAR is Ghild. She’s actually changed a lot across drafts / plans — she came from a Technoblade-esque character to Death to what she is now, which is a weird glitch in the code that Brei very accidentally created. She’s the closest thing to a Deity that truly exists, and I can’t talk too much about what she actually is because spoilers, but she’s sooooo so interesting. Between you and me, she’s a lot more sinister than she appears, and I think a lot of ppl are going to underestimate her as a character :D
Ikah, Ryn, and Ameian are the other three main characters aside from Ghild and Brei. Ikah (formerly Ilse) and Ameian are best friends: Ameian is the son of the rulers of Orillium, and Ikah and Brei (alongside their now deceased parents) worked with them to keep the kingdom running. Both Ikah and Ameian join Ryn’s rebellion, and Ryn is VERY interested in keeping her hacking from the two of them — probably for the best, because ignorance is the best form of bliss. Ameian has no coding abilities, Ikah has significantly advanced coding skills, and Ryn’s hacking is praiseworthy, but not quite at the height of Brei’s. Not yet, anyway.
BREI AS A CHARACTER
Ghild may be the most complicated to write, but Brei steals the show for the most fucked up. The advantage of hacking a “pocket world” is that Brei (or whoever hacks) has control over every aspect of that world! The disadvantage is that you have to be relatively stable to keep the world itself stable. Brei has NOT been stable in a long time, and thus their subconscious has significant sway over what happens in that world lmao - hence the killing of their sister BJDLDJDK. I’m writing a chapter right now that happens halfway through the first book of The Code Trilogy where Ikah finds her own dead body in the forest of a pocket world: it’s surreal and fucked up and horrible and she has no idea how or why it’s there until halfway through book three when Brei reveals it to her ^_^
these are probably bigger spoilers than i should be posting however. i LOVE talking about the orillium saga and appreciate the chance to ramble about it !!!! brei is c!dream coded and initially was way more happy until i made them worse - tysm again anon i loved this <33

A few moments of each girl commenting on how Sky can be kinda a dick, a jokingly slightly snide comment about how "at least Riven isn't hiding he's a jackass", make a little Brandon glaring a hole though Sky's head all though out s1 on the top for flavor.....tbh I don't know what anyone was expecting. My favorite characters are Riven and Musa, I like it when characters are kinda bad people and have to learn to be better. Thats fucking god tier

ok so yeah these werewolves r more the ugh terrible curse that ruins ur life flavour, they cant transform at will, no benefits in human form like cool retractable claws or anything. they transform on the full moon & whenever they get extremely angry or scared, & its the gross horrifying painful kind like you get a new set of teeth every month kinda thing. they can avoid turning if they stay out of the moonlight BUT they feel extremely obligated to go look at it, and will get violent if kept from it, so its safer for the person to just turn than to throw themself at a basements brick wall relentlessly, all night- so you cant actually avoid it unless you wanna break all your arms every month, i mean the arms break either way but they heal when they turn back if theyre broken by turning. will eat anyone and anything except vegetables while a wolfh
weakness 2 silver in both forms, similar to a vampire. other injuries heal quickly but if u like killed it hard enough with a non silver weapon itd probably still die? it depends. like if u put a werewolf into a stainless steel blender, and the blender didnt break... itd probably stay dead, whereas if u put a vampire in a blender, i mean its hard to say, what counts as decapitation... if putting a vampire in a blender doesnt count as decapitation the vampire survives just fine. im trying to say werewolves are technically weaker than vampires, but theyre probably in a practical setting harder to kill, bc u cant just stake it and theyre huge. avery wouldnt know where to start with a werewolf.
depends on the vampire hunter! its not in the job description, but the kind of person who decides to become a vampire hunter is probably more likely to have a problem with werewolves. avery doesnt care about werewolves at all & wouldnt go out of her way to find and kill one, she's a little bit scared of them bc they spread their curse much easier than vampires (one bite is all it takes 2 pass it on) & she would find being a werewolf SO embarrassing.
(but she doesnt have to worry about that anymore bc i dont think vampires can become werewolves, i think werewolves can become vampires though. 4 a vampire the bite would heal immediately and i think vampires are a little bit too much of their own creature for werewolfness or whatever to recognise them as a suitable curse haver)

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024!
9:47pm: Had a ft call with him and idk it's always fun in the moment bc I truly don't like or respect his gf so I hardly remember she exists.... But does he also forget she exists?? Lol. Idk man life is crazy.
He told me basically no matter how happy his partner makes him, he's always going to compare the partner to me. He said he liked that I have him his space and time to be quiet whereas she constantly needs direct attention. Idk this isn't the first time he's said this to me, it also doesn't really sound like a bad thing/ dealbreaker? I mean jeez you got what you wanted man and it's still not enough 🤷♀️ I think we just think differently tbh. But we both agreed the whole not being able to talk to each other is making it like pent up emotion when we do talk to each other, it is like an addiction and like taking a hit of something. We know full well that we're capable of normal conversation with each other but 90% of the time, shit just escalates and it's like a crazy boost to the brain. I think for me, it's literally bc I don't have any other source of this type of attention, but for him? Oof that’s a good question. I didn’t really plan anything out and just kinda wrote that as is came. No clue about character stuff, but trying works right! …I can’t tell if this version of Bowser is too kind or too mean compared to his regular one though ^^;

Ok, so, Luigi actually went on evil escapades as Mr. L in Super Paper Mario, where he was very cocky and showoff-y, always hyping himself up. Given how Luigi is normally, I always interpreted the way Mr. L acts as compensating for a hidden inferiority complex in Luigi. (At least in the older games, nowadays my man’s gained some confidence)
But anyways, combine that with Bowser‘s arrogant selfishness (and being Kamek‘s obvious favorite kid of the two), I imagine AUigi‘s complex gets cranked up by 10. I think he would’ve looked up to him as a kid and still kinda does. Dude secretly just wants his Turtle Bro‘s approval, man. (But like…in a "haha of COURSE I did I‘m great! >:3“ and not an "Omg you think so? :D“way, if that makes sense? The latter only when they were kids maybe). Meanwhile Bowser just gives peak "older mean brother antagonizing the younger“ vibes. Where Mario sees and treats his green brother as an equal, Bowser doesn’t.
However, since Bowser has a very well known caring side towards folks on his own team, that with his now Big-Broness means that if anything happens to Auigi, Bowser will personally come fuck you up. There is only ONE person who can be mean to Auigi and it’s HIM, ya hear. Bowser canonically has Proud Dad energy, you can’t tell me he wouldn’t have Big Bro energy too.
Idk, I think Bowser would treat him like he does his underlings most of the time, but it also often more towards how he acts with the Mario Bros whenever the three are teaming up, but nicer. Never downright adoring like Bowser is with his kid, more like "hey you weren’t doing half bad there Green Guy!“. Perhaps in certain situations even so far as to go along the lines of "of course the Great King of Koopas has a capable bro too (not as great as him tho but you can’t beat perfection)“. Those vibes.
Also since Mr L’s shown to be a mechanic building mechs for himself, I think Bowser‘d want him to build stuff for him too. Bowser does the designs (which are very him-centric) while Auigi does the building and puts Luigi-ness into the design. Maybe they argue on how it should look. In any case it’d be very extra >v< maybe even more so than Bowser‘s stuff looks normally, because they try one-upping each other’s designs.
They’d also definitely trade insults as banter all the time lol
Meanwhile Mario would be pretty curious about the one random human who’s apparently brothers with a giant turtle somehow?? …Neither mAUrio or AUigi would have enough brain cells to recognize the other looks like them tho. Absolutely that they look familiar, but not that they are, too. Auigi would downright be offended of anyone suggesting he had anything in common with this dude living in the woods with Yoshis. They’d probably be annoyed at each other but after the whole "Kamek is not his dad“ thing I think Aurio‘d still comfort him. Like, it’s the end of another boss battle where Auigi got defeated and he starts venting about all of this and Aurio‘s going "there there“ patting him on the shoulder or smth. Auigi ends up hyping himself up again and goes "yea maybe you’re pretty decent after all“,declares him worthy of being his rival, and dips to come back to help in the final battle. However he’d stop Mario from landing the final hit on Bowser because while they might be brothers, Bowser is still his bro.
Maybe he leaves of his own accord, maybe Bowser banishes him from Koopa Castle for going against him, but in any case, AUigi doesn’t stay there and goes off to chill either at Toadstool castle or with Aurio. He’d be a very annoying roommate in both cases lol
…after Auigi leaves Koopa Castle I think Bowser would start to miss him but be super defensive about it if pointed out, and the sequel becomes Bowser kidnapping Auigi as "revenge for betraying him" :)
