CAINE:
Well well how the turn tables (writing caines portion last for once)
Very similar to kinger and ragatha in that he supports everything you do; in fact he encourages your behavior as long as no one is getting hurt. Very loudly (and sometimes obnoxiously) cheers for you
While kinger can only cheer and clap, I think Caine sets off sparkles and fireworks... probably has a whole group of bubbles cheering you on too , assuming there can be multiple bubbles at any given time (I personally think there can be, and they all share a hivemind of sorts)
So what was the occasion that prompted that?
A wonky cartwheel, of which you excited called "a sideways front flip"
(Fun fact from the admin, I called my first cartwheel that bc I didnt know it was called a cartwheel yet)
POMNI:
Anxious parental figure and hyper child, a dynamic that's hit or miss at least for me. Really it depends on how its executed
That said I think she struggles to keep up with you
Constantly scrambling around you make sure you dont fall into any danger. Literally and figuratively...
Her attempts to get you to sit down for more than five minutes fail
Your ass is failing the marshmallow test/j
RAGATHA:
No thoughts only that one clip from adventure time where BMO pretends to be a wheathervane before trying to nose dive off the roof, all while calling for finns attention. Thats you and ragatha, basically (in essence, not exact scenario though)... maybe zooble too, but we'll get there when we get there (I am currently having a brain blast)
Says things like "what am I gonna do with you" everyday, always lightheartedly of course and usually accompanied by a tired chuckle
Generally very supportive of you though, just so long as you're not hurting yourself! Sure, this is the digital world and injuries dont really stick, but still! The pain is still there
JAX:
I mentioned the marshmallow test in pomnis part and I feel like jax would do something similar with you. Except the test is rigged and the candy (which he uses in place of the marshmallow( is actually for him and not for you. So if you actually earn the extra candy you dont even get it
That said I do think jax would feel bad when you get upset about the joke
Anyways
I think he finds it funny, as long as you're not tugging on his overalls and screaming at him for something, or interfering with his plans
Hes not a neglectful rolemodel/familial figure, he just has a short fuse with the above I think, regardless of who it is, kid or not
That said he fully embraces your spontaneous nature
KINGER:
Peepaw and his grandchild, that's it that's literally the dynamic
"Kinger is only 48-"
Hush♡
"Oh that's so lovely, (reader)" when you run up to him with your hands full of god knows what
Eagerly claps and cheers when you show him a new trick you learned
Bonus if you try to recreate or one up his embellished stories in order to make him proud of you (hes always proud of you)
ZOOBLE:
As mentioned in ragathas part, the wheathervane BMO thing is basically in essence you guys' dynamic. Except where I think ragatha would be quicker to pay attention to you, zooble may be a little slower. Not because they dont care about whatever you're trying to display to them, but because I think a lot of the times they kind of mentally check out (me too honestly)
Tries to scold you if you do something too dangerous or out of line, may come across as way angrier or upset than they actually are though thanks to their voice being kinda
You know
Zooble gives off "cool older sibling who doesnt care about nothing" energy
GANGLE:
Meekly tries to get you to calm down for a few minutes, especially if theres an IHA going on because she doesnt want you to run off and potentially get hurt. Tries to keep you occupied with arts and crafts. Watches in horror as you impulsively eat the glue
Tends to wrap one of her ribbon hands around yours so she knows you're not running off.. this is more so when theres an IHA going on
As per usual not many ideas for gangle <\3

Dudeee i fr didnt know people publicly like wrote nsfw shit on like tiktok comments about the cast of emh and im so glad I never saw that like i only ever saw stuff like “I can fix him” “writing abt him in my diary and kicking my feet” 😭 like the wildest thing I saw was probably like. Edits w mildly sexual audios!!!
I think most ppl posting these comments and commenting r like kids?? But Jesus it’s so insane it’s so easy for younger ppl to pull ts bc today u have suchhhh an easy access online :// like idc if u write/read fanfics but I gotta say when ppl start writing abt like rape n shit it makes me queasy so I can’t imagine the actors learning abt that, hope ur doing well tho!! Thank you for bringing awareness to this!!! I think people always go too far w actors like fine write fan fictions of the character but actors is wild
Ranted so much I’m so sorry omg I’m so sorry no one I talk to know my niche interests 💔💔
IM DOING WELL I hope u are too!!!
and I'm honestly very happy that so many people are seeing my post about this situation, because it's just starting to get worse especially since some of these edits are getting 20k+ likes from people who DO NOT KNOW THE MEDIA AS WELL... it's so aughh,,,
The actor of Vinnie was just so upset when the fics w rape started to be written, since he was VERY active in the fandom, I mean he even used to answer DMS and shit for questions but. do you see him anymore 😭😭😭 no bc... he had minors being predatory towards him?? it's so. wild.
I try to post about this topic again and again and this is the FIRST time one of my posts has actually gotten alot of attention, I think it might be do to the fact I felt just so frustrated when I wrote it. I had delt with seeing multiple TikToks in a row with sexual audios and videos talking about how big a characters ass his and how they wanna have sex with them and it's just. AUGH. like 😭😭😭⁉️⁉️⁉️ keep that to ur DMS.
and don't be sorry about ranting !!!!!!! I don't mind being a space to dump some thoughts sometimes!!!! if you ever have emh questions or wanna share some of ur thoughts my asks are open!!!! I'll always try my best to answer them,,, it may take me awhile since I've got alot going on in this head of mine, but!!!!!!! I love hearing people talk about things they enjoy!!!

Rottmnt vs toh: Response to being Cancelled
(Disclaimer: This is all my opinion and my personal analysis of the two shows. The review here on the Rise movie is honestly mostly negative, because of reasons which I will be explaining, but this is just my view and my opinion. You're welcome to think otherwise, obviously. This is not just mindless hate either as I hope I'll have explained my reasonings for disliking the movie decently enough)
Anyone who has been following me for a while knows the insane disappointment I had at the Rise movie. I was so excited for it for months, but then when it came out, I (and a friend) were completely devastated at what they did to Cassandra. While I'm still certainly upset about that, I believe the Casey vs Casey Jr. problem is actually the biggest representation of a bigger problem, one I only fully wrapped my head around when the Owl House season 3 came out.
Both shows were canceled far too early. Both casts and crews put their hearts and souls into their work to create beautiful characters and engaging stories, and both were forced to wrap up their shows far too early in a rushed manner. And, perhaps most importantly, both were given one last chance to present their characters. For the Owl House, this was their shortened Season 3. For Rise, this was their Movie.
And the results they produced show the insane different routes they took: The Owl House unapologetically embraced what had gotten them canceled because they knew it was beautiful, regardless of what Disney said. Rise, on the other hand, dropped all of it in a desperate act to get Nick to bring them back. This conformity ruined everything that was special about the show.
Let's start with the analysing the Rise series.
The plot begins when the turtles and April discover the Hidden City, and then they meet their first big villain: Baron Draxum. Draxum becomes the driving force and main villain of the entire first season. He wants to protect Yokai kind, who live in hiding from the humans, and his ooze-squitos mutate and introduce the majority of the minor villains for the series. It is also soon revealed that he was responsible for not only mutating Splinter, but designing and creating the turtles too. He then goes on to help the Foot resurrect the Shredder. After this goes badly, Mikey befriends him and he becomes a huge ally of the Mad Dogs: he's declared to be family, their second father. He was there in the main group, fighting right besides them as they spoke of family and worked to take down the Shredder.
Tumblr media
And then there's Big Mama: another HUGE villain in the series. Aside from Draxum and the Shredder, she's the next biggest villain. She largely influenced Splinter's past and has been another huge part of the series, one who wasn't mentioned at all in the movie and was basically erased from existence.
Now, I can understand the movie not including Big Mama: her arc was done. She was defeated and it was time to focus on the Krang... but what about Draxum? He was cemented as a member of the family by the end of Rise: there was no reason for him to not be there, helping the turtles. But he wasn't a character that old fans would know - he was exclusive, as far as I'm aware, to the Rise series. He was apart of the unique story Rise was telling, so he was taken away.
But let's look further than just Big Mama and Draxum: what about the yokai and the Hidden City as a whole? There was not a single yokai in the movie (aside from irrelevant cameos at the start). The yokai were HUGE in the series! The Hidden City was one of the most popular locations in the entire show. Furthermore, the Crying Titan and their empyrean, the glowing green substance that originally mutated and formed the yokai people, has a Krang skeleton inside of it. Clearly, the Yokai and the Hidden City have a LOT to do with the Krang.
Yet they weren't featured in the movie at all. Hell, the turtles never even visited the Hidden City or brought up ANY of the Yokai they knew. It was like they were completely nonexistent.
There are countless more exclusively Rise characters and concepts that never made it into the movie, but for the sake of time I'm now going to talk about the biggest, most apparent one of them all: Casey Jones.
Casey (the original one) was an extremely interesting character. She was introduced early on and was a devoted follower of the Shredder. Like previous Caseys, she had wild impulses for violence and loved to fight for what she believed was right. She was stubborn and fiercely loyal. They showed her similarities to April, and hinted at a developing enemies to friends arc between them. In the series finally, she finally joins the right side and turns her weapon into a hockey stick. She joined their team and became a member of the family. She's FINALLY Casey Jones, and I was so excited to see her fully become Casey Jones in the movie!
Tumblr media
And then they immediately get rid of her and replace her with a Casey who looks pretty much exactly like his past selves.
Furthermore, they don't even mention her. The future Casey introduces himself as Casey Jones and no one blinks an eye: the turtles and April don't even find that strange. Casey's (the real one) existence is completely forgotten until the very end, where she just gets a photo and its revealed she was just his mother. Aside from the blatant sexism, it's just disgusting character development and bad writing. They hyped up all this hope for a future development of Casey and maybe we could finally see Raph get her as a friend, April getting her as a love interest (tho lets be honest: Nick ain't gonna do that), and Casey finally getting to become a 6th member of the team just like her past selves. But that was thrown away to introduce a male Casey who was closer to the originals, one Nick could actually make money off of.
Also, let's not forget that they had to have April refer to her as Cassandra in the movie to differentiate her from the future Casey... even though, in the series, Casey literally told them to call her Casey because that's what her friends call her. Guess they're not friends.
And it's not just Casey: everything that made Rise unique was scrapped in exchange for tried and true tmnt concepts and arcs from past reboots. Rise was arguably the most balanced in their developing of each character, yet the movie decided to, instead, focus on Raph and Leo again. They redid the A team and ignored the B team, just like all the past movies did. They got rid of the Hidden City and traded it for the default "protectors of New York and only New York" that's been going on. No more yokai because only mutants and humans matter. No more second father and now only Splinter exists. Hell, they even made the turtles pretty much IMMEDIATELY lose their newly gained Hamato Ninpō - which, ok sure, that'd be fine on its own. But considering all the other things I mentioned, it just adds salt to the wound.
Tumblr media
And why did this happen? Because the producers want the show back. Nick canceled them but they had the chance to be "brought back if the movie did well" (from a tweet by Ron Corcillo). So they made a film without keeping in mind the people who have been supporting Rise from the beginning and, instead, tried to make a tmnt film with enough similarities to the old versions that maybe, just maybe, they could get enough support to be brought back. They made this movie for past tmnt fans to enjoy. Not necessarily Rise ones.
And again, the Casey change is the biggest example of this. Don't think for a second that this change was not a direct reaction to shit like this:
Tumblr media
This is not to say the movie was bad - again, it has plenty of great moments! The Leo angst? Perfect.
But literally most of the great things about it that people are freaking out about were things that were reused from old shows and movies and comics. That's fine, but considering people were so happy that Rise was the first tmnt show "doing things so differently" from its past versions... it's just sad to watch them just rid it of its unique qualities in a desperate attempt to get renewed. Rise had Raph as the leader - that's gone! Rise focused on everyone instead of just the A Team having their stupid fights - that's gone! Rise had unique villains and the most unique worldbuilding I've ever seen - that's gone too!
Now it's just the Krang, Leader Leo vs Raph, New York, and the most bland Casey Jones I've ever seen. The rest is gone.
Tumblr media
Alright. Let's now transition to the Owl House (almost forgot this was a comparison post, lol)
The Owl House is another great cartoon written to be unique in its unapologetic LGBTQ+ representation. They put the main character in a sapphic relationship! Another major character got a nonbinary love interest! And, as a result, Disney canceled the show for "not fitting the brand" since they were having trouble selling this show internationally with its LGBTQ+ content, not to mention just general homophobia in Disney's offices too.
So they got three episodes to wrap up the show in a shortened 3rd season. Only one of these episodes has premiered so far, but even in that one... how did they react to the cancellation?
Tumblr media
The crew embraced these things that made them get cancelled. They gave the main character a coming out scene. They threw bi flags everywhere, put lesbian flag stickers in a scrapbook, added ANOTHER nonbinary character, put the nb flag colors on their nails, and made another character start blushing around them. They featured the main character's mother reading books on raising queer kids! They gave her "gender is not binary" books!
Tumblr media
They pretty much said "fuck it. If we're canceled, we're going out with a bang"
Because they knew these things were what made their fans love the show. They weren't going to favor external audiences over the ones they already have, the people who already love the show. Would adding that in make it more likely Disney would bring them back? Hell no- if anything, they probably cemented their cancelation. But at least they didn't get rid of the things that made their show unique in an act of desperation for their bosses.
The two groups had very different reactions to cancelations... and honestly? I understand why each made their choices. If I had a story that got fucked over like both of these were, I'd be pretty upset too and I'd want to know exactly what I could do to get it brought back. But sacrificing some of your strongest characters, best storylines, and iconic worldbuilding to do it?
I'm sorry, but I just don't believe it was worth it. And that's why I genuinely don't want Rise to get brought back: it's perfect as it is... and I don't want to watch it get turned into just another, generic show that all audiences will like. It was special, and I want it to stay that way.

feel free to pick & choose if this is too many, but merrily (as well), trc, and hamlet for the ask game!!
holy trinity of media that makes me insane about tragedy!
Merrily:
Favorite character: a tie between Charly and Mary.... i literally cannot chose between them Second favorite character: Frank, to complete the trio, he's such an asshole but i do love him
Least favorite character: Not a proper answer because I really don't have a least favorite character but gussie was honestly done a little bit dirty by the show.i understand that it's a very easy way of showing how the friendship collapsed overtime but the show makes it seem like it was all gussies fault and i feel so bad for her because it wasn't as if she was deliberately doing it it just sorta happened but whatever.
The character I’m most like: hm. i think maybe Act Two Frank specifically just bc im so so in love with theatre. merrily is so so special to me bc it really captures that magic. not a character but i really really relate to Opening Doors bc thats just what writing a show is like or making any art reallly.
Favorite pairing: Frank/Charly/Mary not just platonic not romantic not sexual but a secret fourth thing (including all the above) they loved each other so much!
Least favorite pairing: theo I totally agree with everything you said about frank and meg. i cant think of anyone else i could say so i might as welll copy your answer
Favorite moment: Opening Doors which has grown on me since i heard that Sondheim said it was his only autobiographic song. as well as the previously discussed reliability of it, it's such an earworm, like ive had it stuck in my head basically alll year its crazy. Also it shows how close they were together which makes it incredibly heartbreaking also
Rating out of 10: 9/10. its one of my favourite musicals ever! obligatory point reduction for whatever was wrong with the original production (Hal Prince wtf were you doing casting children??)
The Raven Cycle
Favorite character: Ronan Lynch <3 Second favorite character: oh god. im just going to say chainsaw bc i love her so much and i don't want to single out any of the other protagonists bc then i feel bad.
Least favorite character: Maggie Steifvater is such a great author I cannot name a single character I'm not 100% invested in, even ones that would be so easy to get bored by, like Mr Gray or Greenmantle I need to learn everything about them ever.
The character I’m most like: gansey tbh. to the point where i try not to think about it
Favorite pairing: all of the guys (aka blue, gansey, adam, ronan, noah and maybe henry, i don't know him so well yet). basically the same as my merrily answer, labels don't really matter: what matters is they all love each other so so much its insaneeeeeee. im also a big sucker for whatever ronan and adam have going on
Least favorite pairing: tbh i wasn't so invested in maura and the gray man at first.
Favorite moment: i love it when ronan is protective of chainsaw.. he loves that bird so much
Rating out of 10: 11/10 aka so good its literally having a detrimental impact on my school results and mental health/sleep :)
Hamlet
Favorite character: Hamlet Thee Dane. truly the character of all time
Second favorite character: i think about ophelia every single day
Least favorite character: depends on the production tbh. like i used to not care about laertes and polonius, but i became obsessed with the former either last year or the year before, and the version i read this year (Nicki Greenberg's graphic novel which i would recommend) had a really engaging interpretation of the latter which was so good i got sad when he died.
The character I’m most like: hamlet is literally me btw.
Favorite pairing: tragic danish boyfriends is a classic and brilliant but hamlet and laertes also upsets me so so much. like they are literally perfect foils
Least favorite pairing: ugh. gertrude and hamlet sexually. freud suck my dick
Favorite moment: yes ive seen/read it 5 times now. no, i've never not been emotionally destroyed by the ending
Rating out of 10: 10/10. one of the best pieces of fiction ever. which is a totally subjective statement but also im right.

Incorrect Quotes Tag!
I was kindly tagged by @rickie-the-storyteller for this one! You can find their post here.
And here is the link to the actual Incorrect Quotes Generator.
(The rules of the tag game involve using the generator to create incorrect quotes of your OCs)
For this one, I will be using characters from The Last Wrath (I might tweak, add to or adapt some of the quotes slightly but most of them will be untouched)
Brace yourselves, cause this one is about to get very long - because I have a big character cast and love chaos. (:
THE LAST WRATH -
VALLERIUS:  Like they say, "If you can't beat them, curl up in a ball and protect your organs."
**
EMRYC:  Well you see, the explanation is perfectly simple and scientific. It was because shut up. Shut up is why.
**
PEREGRINE:  Pros and cons of dating me: Pros, you’ll be the cute one. Cons, holy shit where do I begin -
**
SYBIL: I know what a prism is! It’s where you put bad people.
**
LUKAN (drunk): I hope no one lowkey hates me. Highkey hate me, hate me with every fiber of your being.
ISOLDE: (staring at him with a “I’m dead inside expression”): Go big or go home.
**
TANWIN: I'm hot, I’m tall, I'm gay, and I'm on my theatre kid arc.
**
KADEN (after falling from a tree) : I’m a fool, not an idiot.
NYX: You’re both.
**
SEIRA (after Peregrine accepts the Bloodbind Ritual on himself and fails to realize why she is so upset at him):  What, I can’t be in a bad mood? It’s like people think, “Oh, Seira: is such a nice person, Seira is so happy-go-lucky! Seira can’t be in a bad mood!” Well, you know what? Seira CAN be in a bad mood. And right now, Seira IS in a bad mood.
**
THE HIDDEN ROOM IN THE SORCERER’S TOWER: I give you a cursed amulet!
HELIOS : Cool! It’ll make me look cute, and the shadow that follows me will make me more active, I’ll get out more!
**
DARIAN (while being hunted down across the continent by an Empire and a horde of assassins) :  Well, well, well, if it isn’t the consequences of my actions.
**
MORWAN (already five cups of wine in, still not drunk):  You treat an outside wound with rubbing alcohol. You treat an inside wound with drinking alcohol.
YUNA (chugging a bottle of rum across the table): Honestly, same.
NADINNE (daintily sipping a cup of tea): Should I... be concerned?
MORWAN: Maybe, babe
**
CASSANDER: I was born for politics. I have great hair and I love lying.
**
EMRYC:  I just learned a way to get stuff on the cheap. Steal it!
ANSELL (nearly in tears, chasing down Emryc): It’s the third time this week - put that thing back where it came from!
**
NETHEN (at some point after his father allowed the Emperor to execute Elain): Helpful grammar tip: “farther” is for physical distance, “further” is for methaphorical distance, and “father” is for emotional distance, and emotional damage!
**
JULYAN:  I only have two emotions: exhaustion and stress. And I’m somehow always feeling both simultaneously.
**
BRYN at the slightest provocation: I came into this earth screaming and covered in someone else's blood and and I'm not afraid to leave the same way.
ANSELL and The Squad (deeply concerned, turning to Ellinor and Nethen): Are you still sure this is the right guy for the job?
ELLINOR with a proud smile: Yep, that’s the one!
NETHEN: *looking straight at Bryn* I’m pretty sure that guy is clinically insane... Imma be his best friend!
**
AZRA (at 3AM):  I’m gonna mix a can of Red Bull with seventeen shots of espresso in a fishbowl and then chug it while Kids by MGMT plays in the background so I can perceive twenty-three spatial dimensions and fight my own soul.
RAELEN (with a feral grin and sleep deprived eyes): DO IT
NYX (awakened and confused): Please don’t.
KADEN AND SYBIL: *already chugging down a fishbowl with that precise mix in the background*
JULYAN (torn between pride and deep concern as he stares straight at Raelen and Azra): *quietly* I raised these kids
**
JAMIE: Sometimes, I don’t realize an event was traumatic until I tell it as a funny story and notice everyone is staring at me weird.
**
BRYN:  I scare people a lot because I walk very softly and they don't hear me enter rooms. So when they turn around, I'm just kind of there and their fear fuels me.
(In the background, as Bryn has just popped out of thin air and spoke without prompting, Ansell’s soul has yet to return to his body.)
**
ISOLDE (being physically held back by Arammis):  I have yet to encounter a problem where a sword didn't factor into the solution at least in some way.
PEREGRINE: *nods in agreement to her statement*
**
DARIAN: I've got a weapon, and I'm... admittedly VERY afraid to use it!
**
TRYSTAN (Peregrine’s mentor and brother-figure, has been rambling on about this for more than an hour) -  I’m sick and tired of being called 'mortal' like, you don’t know that. Neither do I. I have never died even ONCE. Nothing has been proven yet. Stop making assumptions. It’s rude.
Imperial Guards that have him Imprisoned: PLEASE SHUT UP
**
ZEPHYR (Age 14, fresh out of the destruction of Eldon and deeply cursed): I am very small and I have no money, so you can imagine the kind of stress that I'm under.
**
BRYN, TANWIN AND ORYON (collectively):  Dear Diary, my teen angst bullshit has a body count
**
JULYAN, an antisocial fire mage:  Do not come over to my house. If the house is on fire you may knock once, if I don’t answer assume I set the fire and I want to burn to death.
**
Also Julyan, an antisocial fire mage:  *sets himself on fire and screams in agony, only to start laughing uncontrollably* Nah, I’m just kidding. Fire does nothing to me.
(In response to that) Oryon, running on 2 hours of sleep, having to deal with being this dumbass’ healer 24/7 in an enemy dungeon: If you do that again, I will personally yeet myself out of the tallest window I can find. No, as a matter of fact, I will yeet both of us out of a window. TRY ME.
**
ZEPHYR (in his time searching for an anti-magic spell in the Liranthian Academies):  Sometimes I wonder if I’m hearing voices. Then I remember that’s the last bit of sanity I have trying to get me to fall asleep at a reasonable time.
**
LUCIYA (yelling at Willen/Raven):   Of course I have a lot of pent-up rage, you fool! I've been the same height since I was twelve! We grew up together, how could you not know this -
**
AZRA, about the feral dragon that has decided to adopt him:  I can't believe there's a dragon somewhere in my house. Amazing feeling. Love dragons. And she's here, in my house! Somewhere! And I may encounter her! What a treat.
**
ORYON (after befriending Julyan and Nesryn) -  I have met some of the most insufferable people! *stops to think, suddenly concerned* But they also met me -
**
MYRAH, at the slightest of inconveniences -  I'm a nice person, but I'm about to start throwing rocks at people.
**
ARAMMIS, done with the bullshit she witnesses on a daily basis at the royal court of Faravvia:  I think I mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apart.
**
ZEPHYR, in the middle of the night, unprompted:  I have one foot in the grave but in a kind of fun flirty way, the way one might slip on a fishnet stocking.
INNARA, writing in her diary with a glitter pen: I'm losing my sense of humanity. Nothing matters. God is dead. There's blood on my hands.
(In the background) JAMIE: *sobs* STOP TALKING AT 2 AM AND LET ME SLEEP, FOR FUCKS SAKE -
**
TRYSTAN (right after Peregrine screws up majorly and almost gets himself killed): My expectations were low, but I guess they can always go lower.
**
NYX:  My ultimate goal is to punch the Emperor in the eye, just to spite him one last time.
SYBIL: Isn’t our mere existence enough to do that?
KADEN: Nah. It isn’t petty enough.
NYX, proud: That’s what I’m talking about!
AZRA: We’re all gonna die, aren’t we?
RAELEN: Yep, but it will be glorious.
**
CIRIEN: The next time I open up to someone, I’ll die and it'll be my autopsy.
BRYN, panicking: Please don’t.
**
(And last but not least)
Tagging (gently): @lassiesandiego @writernopal @lyutenw @clairelsonao3 @elshells @gummybugg @liv-is @repressed-and-depressed @jasperygrace @jay-avian
SEIRA: *takes a free sample twice* Robbery and Fraud. I am a Rebel.

Starting my Case Files Compendium liveblog here, starting with chapters 1-6
I'm definitely enjoying myself already, I love how immediately He Yu is revealed to be a completely sociopathic manipulative little nepo brat- it's reminiscent of the way meatbun introduced mo ran immediately establishing him as a contemptible and cruel idiot (which he isn't) so it has me wondering how meatbun will develop him from here.
I like how both male leads are absolutely immediately immensely less objectively likeable than mo ran and chu wanning (I'll be comparing bab to 2ha repeatedly btw), between being homophobe4homophobe, He Yu's demented and careless prank to Xie Qingcheng's genuinely frightening and violent raging at Xie Xue and his (horrible) date... I Love Them.
(YUWU CRIT AHEAD) I definitely like them a lot more off the bat than I did Mo Xi and Gu Mang, though I did end up really warming to Gu Mang when he WASN'T lobotomized. Mo Xi is kind of just nothing to me unfortunately, even less character and intrigue than Lan Wangji (who despite people's complaints I find very enjoyable- his silent daddyisms once he's grown up and found his man again, the way he's kind and generous and chilled out from the complete narc he used to be, the way he's overwhelmed and distressed by his own violent lust, the way he acts when he's drunk, he's a fun character) and nothing in the story really changed that for me. I understood why he was so upset with Gu Mang but the way Mo Xi treated Gu Mang when he couldn't remember anything was not charming. He lightly fits into the meatbun mold of younger gong that needs to be taken care of by his older shou but he has none of the charisma or cuteness or charming naughtiness of Mo Ran and He Yu. He provides no textural quality to the constant misery and stifling sweet potato pain of yuwu, and the most unforgivable sin? He's just not mentally ill enough. Neither is Gu Mang- they just don't have the compelling push and pull of complicated mental states that mr&cwn have nor what hy&xqc are very much evidently showing to have. The most mentally ill character I can think of in yuwu is murong lian but i find him completely contemptible for where he allowed gu mang to stay after he got wolf spirit lobotomized. Honestly the way gu mang, my favorite character among the cast gets treated is one of the biggest reasons yuwu falls flat for me. I don't want him to suffer i want him to be a fun and happy daddy and maybe he gets that by the end but wow did he get treated horribly by the two people he ends up happily living around. (YUWU CRIT END)
Back to bab, He Yu and Xie Qingcheng are both saying and doing a lot of things that make me feel like I'll get to laugh at them in the end, in particular Xie Qingcheng's inner monologue about not believing in or understanding love, that it's a disease. You're going to catch that disease eventually my brother. You're in a danmei. You're a homophobe? My dear friend, you are in a danmei. If the sirens aren't blazing for you they soon will be.
One of my biggest points of enjoyment so far with all the danmei I've read so far (mxtx, yuwu, 2ha) is the way that they're love puzzles. How will these two characters end up together with everything resolved? In what ways will they find what they need and love in each other? In bab meatbun presents quite a twisted puzzle so far it almost feels like a challenge: how are this demonic homophobic nepo baby who hates doctors and this cold paternalistic homophobic doctor going to end up together?
Well, I can already see the roots of He Yu's derangement towards xqc beginning especially most prominently in the insane words of "he basically belongs to you, so if you don't help him be successful he might take you as his wife) his mom said to him which I have to imagine warped his mind with simultaneous feelings of ownership and terror towards him- as well as the derangedly florid descriptions of xqc's cold and devastating beauty.
Anyways, Xie Qingcheng is absolutely a daddy, a fussy and mean daddy. Compared to his contemporary meatbun shou (and i do feel that gong and shou distinctions are more meaningful to the actual characters and their temperaments in meatbun's works) Chu Wanning who is a fussy and only really incidentally mean failmommy, Xie Qingcheng is by far more of a daddy (repeatedly being referred to as paternalistic)- he also seems more socially competent and outspoken about his morals but similarly just as incompetent in understanding his own feelings. He's a cute fussy princess of a daddy.
Whereas Chu Wanning's mommyisms have a counterpart in Mo Ran's (esp Mo-Zongshi) daddyisms, I can't help but suspect He Yu is just going to be Xie Qingcheng's bratty baby boy and I'm excitedly rubbing my hands together for that dynamic. I already like the intimacy of "he's seen me at my worst and already knows i suck so i'll lose my manipulative outer front in front of him and end up showing him my more authentic self". I kind of want to see He Yu calling him daddy while rearranging his guts
I don't think at this point that Xqc harbors the same feelings towards He Yu that Chu Wanning did towards Mo Ran, but I also suspect his thoughts about him are more benign than He Yu thinks. I really love the "don't bother me i'm homophobic" "OH YEAH? IF YOU'RE HOMOPHOBIC THAN I'M WAYYY MORE HOMOPHOBIC THAN YOU THAT IT BASICALLY MAKES YOU LOOK GAY" nevermind the paragraphs he yu spends thinking about xie qingcheng's urethral cold beauty and the paleness of his skin and the way his brows are so dark and his lips thin and perfect and like red blossoms frosted over-
I'm also betting against the house that Xie Xue is genuinely just a kind dummy and not a demented mastermind like the last two effeminate false romantic leads.
I'm writing this while eating fried rice because the description of Xie Qingcheng's cooking made me drool. An entire page of fried rice decadence. I like that between him and He Yu, he's the one who can cook well- He Yu, Mo Ran is going to laugh at you for having nothing to charm your ethereal and bitchy old man with

Ranting about the new Borderlands movie under the cut
Okay I'm just gonna say it
The Borderlands movie trailer? Doesn't look AS BAD as I thought it would, but still awful.
Most of the characters are extremely miscast
But honestly? I don't think Kevin Hart is that terrible of a miscast.
If it was Borderlands 2 and pre sequel Roland then yeah he'd be awful and I feel like that's what most people are thinking of.
But if you're going based off of first game Roland? He's not that bad. Just listen to the voice lines from Roland from the first game. Can find it on YouTube easy enough.
On to everyone else!!
Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina: Honestly, I'm gonna just say that it's both miscast and miswritten, but I acknowledge that it's probably gonna be pretty damn hard to find someone who could pass as a younger teenager (since Tina in the 2nd game is 13) who could also feasibly act as Tina. She's a very very unique character and I feel like acting as her, even if she WAS written properly, would be incredibly difficult. Getting that combination of batshit insane, childish naivety, and actually knowing what she's doing would be TOUGH. Ariana Greenblatt, from what I've seen, does well enough as bratty snarky teens. Tina was written as that for some god forsaken reason.
JLC as Tannis (aside from the fact that JLC is a fucking zionist. I'm only critiquing casting based on how they are as actors, not whether or not they're decent people.) isn't...terrible? It's odd, and I can't give a definitive opinion on it because hardly anything is heard from her in the trailer.
Jack Black as Claptrap: Honestly, personality wise, not a bad fit for Claptrap. However, voice wise, absolutely a terrible fit. Claptrap's voice I'd supposed to be shrill, nasally, and just overall ear grating. That's part of his CHARM. The rest of the fault in how awful they did with Claptrap lies in the writing. I will admit, I'm not certain who I would've cast as Claptrap instead, but I at the very least would have tried to see if Jack Black could try and at least imitate Claptrap's voice??? Or just...like I said, found someone better.
Cate Blanchett as Lilith: Yeeeaaaah, very miscast. I'm not even all that upset by the age thing. That's like....a tiny tiny gripe that tbh I think people are focusing way too much on. When the real problem is the fact that Lilith was HORRIBLY written for the movie. Lilith, in the games, is this hotheaded, snarky, cocky woman. She's the woman who's told "hey, for strategy reasons, we need you to stay behind for this fight" and responds with "no I'm going >:(" and shows up anyways. She's the one who goes "I...liquefied a guy. It was AWESOME!! This eridium stuff is the TITS!!!". She is not the stone cold badass bitch that she seems to be in the movie. I will admit, I haven't seen anywhere NEAR Cate Blanchett's full filmography. I've only seen a tiny handful of movies. But from the ones I've seen, she doesn't tend to play characters like Lilith. Her characters tend to be more serious. Less snarky and sarcastic. She just....doesn't seem to fit in the Borderlands universe at all really to me??? She'd be miscast in pretty much any role. The only one I could MAYBE see her managing would be like....Athena. Again, not her fault, just...the vibes. Lilith was terribly written for the movie, and was also terribly miscast.
I can't really say anything regarding anyone else, as I didn't really see enough of them to form even the barest hint of an opinion. Either way, the movie is going to be awful, even if it might not be as terrible as I'd thought it would be before the trailer.
If you're gonna watch it, pirate it if you care about Palestine. The director and at least a couple of the actors (JLC, Edgar Ramirez) are zionists, and yet more of them (Jack Black, Gina Gershon) are of the mind that it's a two sided conflict and they want both sides to make peace and their hearts go out to both sides.

The fact that James Cameron used legit great directing of cinematic visuals to tell a stories that do not work as movies (that is if you actually do want to go deeper than "environmental and cultural destruction for profit is sad :((" which...I legit couldn't tell if he did try to go deeper than that or not lmao) is fascinating and hilarious to me. You took potential great stories. You took great skill in this story telling medium. You deeply failed to smash them together skillfully. I'm almost in awe of it.
Tbh the visuals are great but I want the novels which is also hilarious to me. There are basic ideas set in this big world and a cast of characters that each have different conflicts and relations to the Big Picture ideas. You could have a series of novels with entire books set with a different character POV!! All the good meaty stuff I think would be better served with the more internally driven narratives of novels tho which is why I keep leaning that way.
How about a novel of Neytiri struggling with the cognitive dissonance of her love of Jake and her children conflicting with the rage that the trauma from the first movie left in her?? How about we go more into her character than "fierce angry wife." How does she feel about the child of a sky people avatar having this deep connection to Eywa? With the anger we see her directing towards Spider wouldn't we see her struggle with Jake using human military language with their kids???
How about a novel with the whales and their societal struggle with them now being violently hunted vs their pacifist values?? How does this new conflict affect the relations of their sister culture of the islanders???
The movie mentions that the avatar bodies don't set off the planets defenses. We see the commando avatars able to bond with the dragons (I ain't gonna remember all these names ok!!). This IMPLIES that just by having the Navi biology they are connected to the planet now. How does this effect them?? How about a novel from the baddies pov where they make more and more avatars to conquer the planet and slowly find that it backfires as the two way connection changes THEM. Who can handle it?? Does it drive some of them insane?? How about we have a failed redemption arc with Colonel Full Ass Throttle as he feels this two way connection with his dragon. What if that whale hunting really disturbed him and he's fucked up over the fact that he is disturbed now?? Wouldn't he be viscerally disgusted at this mental connection to this planet?? How does that contrast with seeing his son WANT that connection that he hates?? What if we get a visceral rejection scene where he cuts off his braid/connection?? (Honestly thought they were doing something like that with him and I was like ?????? when nothing happened there dkdjdk I guess we had to keep it at a basic mumbled something about father and son dynamics)
I promise this isn't a fixation that'll last long I just need this day to process how baffling this movie was as a grand image of one man refusing to actually dig into his own themes bc he'd rather keep it to the most bland of takes that don't go beyond "isn't this upsetting and bad? What if unobtainium but more bluntly evil?"

Let's keep it rolling babes, EP 5 The Lassos
--....why? Would they lower the door to the entrance to the club??? Ted's not insanely tall that's just weird
-- ah yes the appearance of Oklahoma, such a great trope in the show. Also Ted's 'constant optimism' is why we love him. Like yes it means he masks his anxiety with this...veneer of cheer almost. Honestly? Relatable. I can see now why my old boss says I remind her of Ted too much to enjoy the show lmao.
-- Ted literally sees himself as a character in a cartoon. He did the whole sunset run across the field to see his family without any care for how long it actually is. To borrow terms from the Our Flag Means Death fandom, Ted is slowly but surely muppetifying the entire cast one by one. He was the OG muppet and he's infecting them. And Yes Beard is Sam The Eagle why do you even need to ask
-- the fucking. Henry playing darts in the bar just like Ted used to when his dad was drinking ❤️‍🩹
-- y'all just know that Ted insisted against Michelles protests that they didn't need a hotel, that they could bunk with him in his fucking full-sized bed bc hes afraid theyre gonna disappear if he doesn't hold on with both hands and holy hell their whole episode is just. Hurting my heart.
-- Nate's dad was a cartographer. Nate's dad made the map to ask out his mom. ❤️.
-- it really uh. Says something that Michelle and Ted's couples therapist was the one who recommended Ted should give her some space, and then later we learn that when Michelle moves on its with that same therapist which is uh. Not great, actually. Can't blame Ted for getting super upset about that, that's an absolute shit situation actually.
-- Jamie's clearly hurting from Keeley breaking up with him, Ted's hurting from Michelle basically saying it's over, and neither of them are good at processing their emotions so predictably it only gets worse from there. Gotta say that's some star fucking writing there, how the plotlines overlap and impact their emotions and their backgrounds feed into this fundamental...misunderstanding? Butting of heads for sure.
-- Ted really must be in amazing shape. He outran half the footballers - professional runners! - a few episodes ago, he ran half the pitch to see his son without breaking a sweat, climbed an amount of stairs that a seasoned pro footballer called impressive without even getting too out of breath....he's damn fit
-- Ted monologues to himself to work out his problems and no one can convince me otherwise (see: the changes marriage metaphor halftime speech)
-- ok more of a personal note I've never heard English commentators cover football before watching this show (yes i understand this makes everything about me more confusing, esp given the mix of slang and the typing and spelling style, I'm an enigma what can I say?) But they treat it less like a job and more like a podcast than I'm used to. I enjoy it, but it feels weird and made up
-- Michelle finds it so fucking hard to hurt Ted even unintentionally, even to benefit her and her son, which is kinda a theme here. Ted's crafted this persona (which yes had become in a sense his true self but that's a whole other essay) that makes it nearly impossible to get hurt because everyone is so reluctant to do anything mean to him so when people are unfazed by this (see: Jamie) he's so caught off guard? It's almost sad how he's made himself so impervious to hurt by making himself so much more vulnerable to it and vice versa, he's just an exposed nerve that can't be cut and it's almost painful to watch

hey it's the same anon - I was reading your comic (fall warmed cider I think) where the humanoid character says that he's in love with the feral character (which I'm assuming I misinterpreted) and it really triggered me and sent me into a massive ocd attack and I was convinced that you were an animal abuser and if I didn't message you then you'd abuse animals. I know that sounds insane it's just how my subset of ocd works, and I'm really sorry I know this is a really bad apology I just really want you to know that it's totally me and not you at all and the way you draw furries is so unique and beautiful. I'm really sorry for upsetting you
I don't really know what to say honestly. I understand having mental illnesses that drastically warp your perception of reality and how you behave I really do but this was such an upsetting set of messages to receive. The character you're talking about in Fall warmed, Spring, isn't feral, he's a stylized anthro like the rest of the cast because I would not write something otherwise.
I don't want to kick you down or make you feel worse when you've found yourself triggered by something I've made but sending messages saying you thought I was abusing or sexualizing animals isn't fair and you do have to monitor your own reactions so they aren't impacting other people this way; I'm literally also susceptible, this triggered my delusions and trauma responses that I also have to keep in check because that's what you have to do when you struggle with things like this. You're not insane, this isn't fully your fault just like triggering you wasn't mine but this can't happen again ect.

RSC Wars of the Roses
SO. i'm on vacation in stratford right now and i got to see the rsc production of wars of the roses live on closing night and hooooooly shit holy shit. tldr: play good and i'm fucking insane. i have many thoughts.
so it was basically henry vi part 3 but with a liiiittle bit of part 2 tacked on at the beginning. we open on york arriving with his army to fuck shit up and ultimately claim the throne over the somerset issue and then go until the end of part 3
they used cameras and projections in a really cool way, there was this translucent curtain kind of thing where video was projected at different points. sometimes it was a scene going on backstage (like henry conferring with his men before confronting york in the throne room), sometimes something happening onstage but out of the audience's view (rutland cowering behind a set piece before he was killed), sometimes a close-up of something going on onstage (often when characters were killing or dying), sometimes a separately filmed scene of something related (richard killing clifford while other characters talked about it). during tewksbury edward iv and margaret's monologues were filmed like speeches bieng projected to the whole battlefield. and sometimes they would show other things, like still shots of york as his sons found out he was dead.
AND at one point in the son who killed father/father who killed son scene henry put his hand on the back of the cameraman who was filming and i don't know if that means anything but it made me kind of crazy
THE CAST WAS ALL AMAZING. mark quartley had essentially my dream henry vi vibe i wanted to hug him so much in every scene he was in. his mannerisms were so nervous and uncomfortable and sometimes he would just turn away from the conversation going on and look out at the audience like he was so conflicted and didn't know what he was doing. he made me so fucking sad and that's all i want from my poor little meow meow english monarch
ARTHUR HUGHES RICHARD. HOLY SHIT. first of all he actually has radial dysplasia of his arm which is cool, i really appreciate the casting of a disabled actor in that role. and his energy was fucking FANTASTIC. my controversial take is that i like 3h6 richard more than r3 richard as a character and this prod was absolutely an example of why. he's so scrappy and high-energy and he really feels so YOUNG. and then about a third of the way into the play he started revealing his Evil Intentions and had such a fantastic rapport with the audience, there were tons of great little nod and wink moments when we were privy to his reactions to things while the characters onstage weren't. he was soooo likeable in that evil way, i may have bad taste but he's my best friend. i'm like actively angry i won't be around to see him in r3.
minnie gale was also a great margaret! she was a little bit more overtly emotional than i've seen the role played before, in the "i here divorce myself" scene she seemed more genuinely grief-stricken than angry. she upset me so much in prince edward's death scene with her sheer desperation
honestly there wasn't a weak link for me! oliver alvin-wilson had amazing presence as york and ashley d gayle was the perfect horrible little slut (affectionate) as edward but when his emotionality came out it was. h.
WHAT THEY DID WITH THE PAPER CROWN. PAIN AND AGONY. in 1.2 rutland was wearing this paper crown as he played around with his dad and his brothers and then it got left behind onstage as he ran to escape when the army came in. and then. well. that was the paper crown they put on york's head CHECK OUT HOW HARD I CAN CRY
when margaret was waiting for york to speak in that scene she FULLY DID THIS POSE ON THE FLOOR. HELP ME
Tumblr media
the throne was part of the set that stayed onstage the whole time and york died clinging onto it which mentalled my illnesses
richard DID cry when he heard that york was dead which made "i cannot weep" later in that scene so much more insanity-inducing. he does feel intensely he's just trying to pretend he's not grieving. god i think about the richard and york relationship it makes me so upset HE LOVED HIS DAD AND HIS DAD LOVED HIM
when margaret told henry to "unsheathe your sword" so he could knight prince edward he wasn't wearing a sword so margaret actually had to hand him one. and then he actually dropped the word and just touched his son on the shoulders instead and hugged him. henry :(((((((
king louis and bona were so french (derogatory). they were the comic relief and they just had the stupidest most over-the-top accents and gestures and costumes. watching british/french hostility in action and eating popcorn
when the watchman talked about "lord hastings, the king's chiefest friend" he coughed and did a suggestive voice. a win for bi edward truthers. also when he got captured in that scene he was shirtless and the screen projections had showed him thotting it up with three women. slut
they cut the scene where edward is trying to persuade the mayor to let him into york but there WAS a scene where he was debating with richard and hastings if he should claim his crown or just his dukedom and at one point he screamed "I CAN'T I CAN'T I CAN'T" and just. fully broke down. was not expecting edward to hurt me like that but oh god
the henry vi death scene went OFF and hurt me infinitely as usual. however my one gripe was that they cut "for this amongst the rest was i ordained" which is one of my favourite richard lines EVER. it fucks so hard why would you do that. but GOD the killing of henry was so violent and took so long, most of the onstage deaths didn't have fake blood (people had a lot of blood on their faces but it didn't appear during stage-combat) but then henry was soaked in blood as richard stabbed him over and over and over. and the banger of all bangers speech went off as usual.
the yorkists came onstage and started celebrating and dancing as richard was still standing over henry's body which was such a good representation of where richard is at going into r3, still stuck in war and violence mode while the world around him has moved on to peace and celebrations. and just the reminder that it's all only possible because of henry's death
they did the classic "end on richard holding the baby SO threateningly" thing which. vibes. and the last image was the camera close on his face as he turned toward the audience before it cut to black
ALSO i meet rosie sheehy who was king john in the recent rsc prod! i got to talking to some people sitting next to me about king john and it turned out she was in the audience so they offered to introduce me. she was super super nice (and told me that apparently eating a raw egg on stage every night wasn't that bad). she'll be anne in the rsc r3 which once again i would fucking kill to watch now
GOD WHY CAN I NOT SIMPLY LIVE AT THE RSC FOREVER AND EVER THAT IS MY QUESTION

please don’t let kathony go, i love your essays ! i aint gonna watch s3 in no way (other that kanthony clips)
This is such a sweet ask!! Thank you so much anon <3 I am so so happy a good number of yall enjoy my essays, it really makes it worth it
To put your fears to rest, I will never fully let them go! They were my first and all time favourite HR couple and book I ever read (I skipped TDAI when reading the Bton books cos I already watched the story on screen first lol).
What I meant here:
Tumblr media
Was that letting go of them and S2 did me a WORLD of good. Especially reading more HR, it just made me less insane (derogatory) and upset about how badly they adapted TVWLM. However, this is my personal choice of course! I just suggested it if anyone wants to feel less angry all the time about this show.
This is definitely an unpopular opinion with Show Kathonys and I will take that but it is my opinion: I do love Jimone and their interpretations of the characters, as well as some of the better changes of the show (See: The Bee Scene and Accident) but disrespectfully, the plot and storytelling was SHIT.
I just adore the book far too much and always pictured Jimone when I read the book (fun fact: I called Simone's casting a couple weeks before it was announced while reading TVWLM for the first time!!). This is probably why I was so upset with the progression of S2 especially the end of Episode 4 onwards and I have never rewatched S2 since that first week. I think I've only seen the whole season three times. After internalising how shitty Kathony was treated alongside the character assassination of Bookwina and sidelining the best stepmom ever Mary, it's just too painful to watch now. I don't mind edits and compilations though. But the actual full season (Featherflops and all?) gives me psychic damage. Hence why, I'm 'letting go' of the show. Never Kathony, especially not the ones from the books and a mishmash of the book and show version! They'll always have my heart for being the very first HR couple and characters I saw so so much of myself in for the first time in my life.
I may have a new fave HR couple - AlexGen from What I Did For A Duke by Julie Ann Long - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! - but Kathony and TVWLM will always be Top 5 of my lists. Don't worry, there will always be essays - just more on HR and films in general moving forward because honestly I don't really see myself blogging about S3 even to criticise it. I prolly won't even watch tbh but I will be putting out a post on how to watch and not engage with it before it drops! I cannot be bothered and do not want give the show anymore exposure anywhere.

Honestly I think the appeal of DRV3 (at least for me) is that there is no concrete answer. We don't know how much Tsumugi lied. We don't know if these are the characters "true" nature's, what the outside world is like, how much our characters backstory and identity is even REAL. We know Tsumugi does lie, because she contradicts herself, but we don't know how MUCH. And I like that. I kind of find it pointless to debate how much Tsumugi said is true or if the characters personalities were overwritten or whatever. The truth is what you make of it. Even if the characters we know ARE lies, they're still meaningful. I liked that message, idk. That lies and truth can be equally impactful, so I don't really feel the need to debate how much is true and how much is a lie, because either way, it still mattered to me. Even if it is lies, it became the truth, so why debate if it was a lie or not? I think everyone is going to have their own headcanons about how much of V3 is true or not, and what was lies, and I think that's fine! I think that's kind of the point of the game. Personally, I like the idea that the V3 cast IS implanted with fake/false personalities, but those lies still matter, and are still them. It's probably because when I was younger, I had a lot of identity issues, so the idea is comforting to me. But that's just me. Honestly, the prologue does call a lot of what Tsumugi said into question... which I also actually liked! I liked that you couldn't know for sure, if Tsumugi was lying or not and how much. I think the ambiguity of V3 would be pretty frustrating to some people, and maybe even to me in other games, but I do think V3 pulls it off well. And it was an important message to me especially when it came out, you know? So I definitely have a soft spot for V3, though I do understand how some people could find the lack of trustworthy/concrete answers frustrating!
I'm really glad that you found such meaning and importance in it. :) And especially comfort. We can all use that.
Shortly after the game first came out in NA, I posted something similar to what you're saying now. Although obviously, I don't feel that it's pointless to debate how much of Tsumugi said is true or false. Partly because I always love a deep dive into what makes a fictional world work, and partly because I'm the kind of person who feels like evidence and facts really, REALLY matter. I get so passionately upset when people ignore BLATANT evidence (or a total lack thereof) in favor of just plugging their ears. It drives me insane.
But still — even if we can nail down "The characters were very clearly put into this game against their will", that still leaves a lot of vague wiggle room where you can pretty much just headcanon your personal interpretation. To cite one obvious example: The real nature of the outside world beyond the dome is totally unknowable to us. And obviously, a lot of fans are choosing to believe whatever they want to believe about this game, even if the evidence is against it. :P But like, maybe you could argue that even the evidence we've got is somehow faked, because Tsumugi's lies are multiple levels deep! There's a lot of freedom there. (And in the world of fanfic where AUs are king, you can take it even further and just toss out whatever evidence doesn't suit you.)
But I have to mention that even if none of the others were as open-ended as V3, all of the Danganronpa games have had ambiguous endings, only to get the canonical results spelled out to us in later installments. So at least some ambiguity is right in the DR tradition. When DR1 ends, we leave on a note of uncertainty of how much Junko said is true and what the outside world is really like. When DR2 ends, we don't exactly know what the ultimate fate of the various comatose DR2 characters will be or even what Makoto's act of defiance will mean for him, Kiri, and Togami. And even UDG is just... a great big pile of open-ended questions. So to me, V3's open-endedness is sort of taking that tradition into a bigger scale.
And there's always the possibility that V3 will eventually see a canonical follow-up. If the previous track record is anything to go by, it might even be more "likely" than "possible." But... I also tend to agree with you that it might be better to just never go back there. Would I be interested in seeing what happens to Shuichi, Maki, and Himiko (and maybe Keebo) next? Of course. But I'm not confident that I'd be satisfied with an answer, either. It's probably better to just leave them where they are, and let us fill in the rest for ourselves.
Thanks for this detailed and thought-provoking ask. :)

19 years ago today (September 23 2003) One Tree Hill premiered on the WB.
To celebrate I thought I'd post yet another opinion thread about my favorite show of all time.
Nathan Scott is quite possibly the best teen drama boy/man to ever exist. He had his flaws, but was ultimately the best husband, father, brother, and son anyone could ask for. Despite having a rough childhood, he managed to overcome and stop the toxic cycle of neglect/abuse. He made his children's lives something he had wished for himself. It takes a strong person to do that. Forever will love this man.
Tumblr media
Lucas Scott aggravates me to no end.
3x20 is TV excellence. That no look shot is iconic and nothing will ever top that moment in TV.
Nobody does music like OTH. All those performances? Amazing.
Nathan and Haley >>>>> every other couple on the show. Idc what anyone says they were the #1 ship to come out of OTH. They went through hard times, but came out stronger in the end. I don't think there's any other TV couple with this much of a hold on me. And I've watched a lot of TV shows lol. They make me feel so comfy and warm inside. They're safe and overall written so damn well.
Tumblr media
Going with what I said above, James and Joy's chemistry is what made Naley work tbh. They had such insane chemistry and it's mind boggling that they never even had a chemistry read when auditioning. OTH writers struck gold with them.
Dan is one of the best villains in TV show history.
Grandpa Dan....an angel lmao

It legit infuriates me that CMM was looked at as the heartthrob of the show when James Lafferty was right there. That man was and is still gorgeous. And if I'm being honest, his acting felt more natural to me than CMM. But that's a conversation for another day lol
We should've got more Skills than Mouth
Brooke's best seasons were the adult seasons tbh. Yes, she had iconic moments in the high school years, but her actual development doesn't really hit until the adult years imo
I'm convinced they only did the Nathan/Brooke sextape because they wanted the audience to sympathize with Peyton. Also Nathan and Brooke are quite possibly the most liked characters, the writers probably thought why not try destroying their development 🙄🙄
I loved Jamie 🤷🏻‍♀️ it seems like so many people find him annoying but I loved him lol I can understand why he might be annoying to some, but I really enjoyed him and thought he was a great addition to the show. He had great chemistry with all the core characters
6x03 is the saddest episode in TV history and if you don't cry watching it, you're not human

Nathan's NBA story arc is amazing storytelling. I loved every minute of it and believe it's one of, if not, the best story arc to come out of the show
Tumblr media
Peyton was so much more likeable when she wasn't with Lucas. I honestly enjoyed her and Lucas being friends way more than when they got together
I didn't mind Lucas and Lindsay
Season 9 was so chaotic, but I loved it
I loved how Julian went from this hot mysterious producer to an absolute dork that loved chasing butterflies. Best development lol

This cast deserved an award for 3x16. The acting was on point. The storyline was on point. One of the most well done sch*ol sh*oting episodes I've seen a TV show pull off. It's a shame they barely got any credit for it
Never got the appeal to Karen/Keith. I honestly shipped Deb/Keith more lol
Nathan's depression storyline deserved better. The writers dropped the ball on a lot of mental health storylines, but this one in particular upsets me. First it was the race car incident in season 2. He should've gone to therapy. Then it was season 5 and his back injury. It felt as though he was being told get over it and "man up" when that sends a pretty toxic message. The scene with Peyton and him in the hospital pissed me off. As if seeing a child with cancer is supposed to make him feel better. I get what they were trying to get across, but it could've been done differently. Also Haley throwing dishes/bottles???? Why? Great acting moment from Joy, but unnecessary for Haley's character. I also applaud James for his acting throughout this storyline. Just wish it was written better.
Continuing with the above statement, Haley's depression storyline was done much better. It was a bit rushed, but it wasn't as frustrating to watch.
I always preferred Brooke and Haley's friendship to Brooke and Peyton's

Brooke and Nathan's friendship deserved more screen time. That scene when Nathan goes to check on her before Quentin's funeral will forever break me
Tumblr media
Nathan getting harassed in the shower doesn't get talked about enough. Absolutely foul.
Although I loved Brooke getting her happy ending, I kinda wish they settled with her adopting instead of miraculously being able to have kids. Her adopting would've been more relatable.
Rachel deserved better
Quinn deserved better writing. I feel like she was treated more like eye candy than anything. Justice for Shantel VanSanten
FUCK M*RK S*HWAHN
I have many more opinions, but this is already long enough lol. Anyways, this show will always and forever have a place in my heart.

"seriously wonder what the people who worked on this genuinely think, especially the ones who were there for the first movie." Chiwetel is such a kind soul, bless him, but when he was asked about Multiverse of Madness he looked like he wanted to say "mate, no clue, I'm barely in it 🤷🏾‍♂️" and I may be reading too much into it, but Liz Olsen looked almost upset when she was asked about Wanda's arc. Ben C also looked so tired and disappointed. The actors knew the script and plot were shit.
I watched a few of the interviews after seeing MoM and man...you can really see how tired the cast is when they're doing solo interviews. If they have someone else there to play off of they're more lively and jovial but when it's only one actor and the interviewer you can tell something is up.
Chiwetel was extremely gracious I think. He's just always so sweet and engaged with his interviews. It's that smile of his. It can light up a room. He can deliver the worst news with that smile and it'll zap the malice right out. Such is the power of the beautiful.
I definitely saw irritation in Lizzy Olsen's mannerisms when an interview pointed out how violent Wanda was and that she had a body count. The way she said "and I was supposed to kill more," just sounded really...mad and sad? It could just be me reading too much into it of course. But I honestly don't think it gave her much joy seeing Wanda become this insane where she's slaughtering people. She does defend it in interviews but I honestly think it's just part of the job since she's trying to promote this film and get people to see it. What's she gonna do? Outright say she hated it during a press junket? I'm not a fan of her at all but I felt very bad for the situation she's in. Cause no matter what people will aim their disgruntled rage on her rather than where it rightfully belongs....to the writer.
And as for Benedict C.....
Guys. I just want him to take a few days off and fucking sleep. He looked so drained in some interviews. And then there was one interview where he said that he hopes that they can delve more into Stephen as a character in the next sequel. That's when it was confirmed, in my mind anyways, that this movie really disappointed him deep down. This was his time to shine as Strange and though he did have some pretty spectacular parts the character arc was......where the fuck was it? I just felt so bad for him. And with all the reshoots I feel like they probably made him play a different version of Stephen each time he got the script. Like they didn't even know what to do with him is so fucking sad.
I feel like they should have just asked these actors what they thought their characters would do and build an arc around that. Like no one in that cast is stupid. They've all been with their characters for years in multiple projects so wouldn't they know themselves more than anyone else? And as good as the actors were there were times were I felt like the lines were spoken with stress and pressure? Like they were actively trying to push out those lines cause they didn't really want to?
Idk. Maybe I misinterpreted things. At the end of the day though I genuinely hope the cast gets a nice long break from this and that they don't get burned out. And I really hope they have a good support system around them.
