See, I don’t think Sylvie/Sylki as a whole would be as bad if it didn’t take a shit on Loki’s entire character to make her look better. Like. Since forever in the comics, Loki has been genderfluid and overall very queer, yet in the show they threw that out the window entirely for… the chance to have a straight selfcest ship? What? Why even have a ship to begin with? Not every character needs one. Or just have Amora be the love interest? Since that’s literally who Sylvie was ripping off with her powers and appearance. Also Sylvie doesn’t have enough mischief or drama to be a Loki. Just make her Amora.

in all ways but physical, I am kissing you with tongue right now

they could at least have committed and made her look like a Loki, by which I mean give her black hair. but we all know why they didn't, don't we? because you don't want your straight selfcest ship to look too selfcest-y. that would turn people off.

also, if this is the show's attempt at a "Loki learns to love himself" storyline, metaphorically, it's a very disturbing way to go about it. learning to love yourself does not involve falling in love with a different version of yourself.

all that said, believe it or not, I don't particularly care if you ship Sylki, I just don't feel it as a romantic pairing. I will still throw the occasional bone in your general direction for shits and giggles. but the fact that I started adding the tag "but also pretty anti Sylki you know how it is" to most Sylki posts is pretty telling. I believe I once pointed out the most of my Sylki jokes are just three anti-Sylki jokes in a trenchcoat. that still feels true.

so yeah, I genuinely prefer my fanon characterization of their relationship, because I think it's super funny to have her show no emotional interest in the whole thing whatsoever. she just wants to get laid and then get on with her revenge plot.

fucking ALSO there's the thing where loki completely supports sylvie on her mad quest until like literally the last fucking moment where he goes "hang on this is a shit plan let's maybe not?" which to be fair to her is also the exact point at which you'd expect a loki to betray you to get all the power for themselves. and yeah the 'chuck him through a time-door whatsit' thing is a betrayal but she had a sword at his throat like one minute before that and she still went with the not killing him option which is pretty good going for how fucked in the head she is.

OK. I need to talk about it (particularly because I rewatched the entire series yesterday) ! Like many, I'm shipping Sylvie & Loki, otherwise known as Sylki, from the Loki series from Disney +.

However, I always manage to come across anti bullshit, each time I go to the tag dedicated to this couple. And it's unbearable. Especially with the bullshit being said there.

So already, people basically don't like Sylki and Sylvie, because Sylvie would treat Loki "horribly" and "use him"…

So… It's forgotten that Loki was probably planning to kill her at the start of Episode 3, but didn't because she was the only one who knew how to recharge the Time Pad. So technically, the two contemplated killing each other, and served each other up in episode 3.

Also, by the end of episode 2 and the beginning of episode 3, Sylvie is completely normal with Loki the rest of the time, and even cares about him. The two actually end up forming a willing partnership. Sylvie even wanted to face Alioth on her own, and for Loki to return to TVA. When he said that if she goes, he goes too, she made it clear that his plan might not work out, so she cares about his life and she always proposes that he go. with Mobvious. Hello for "treat him horribly / only use him".

Then clear me of doubt…

But isn't Sylvie a Loki variant ? So she looks like him in that fact, right ? Doesn't she go through almost the same arc, or rather similar (it's much more correct) to the one that Loki had in the films ? I'm guessing with that logistics, you mustn't like Thor and Loki's brotherly relationship either ? And that it's especially Loki that you should hate in this relationship, considering how he treated Thor at one point (even if Thor is not without fault in this whole complicated family affair) and even tried to kill him in the first movie ? Along the same lines, I guess you don't like the Frigga and Loki relationship, and therefore specifically Loki, since he emotionally hurt his mother in the second film and unwittingly caused her death afterwards…

Seems like these are two very popular relationships within the fandom, and Loki has never been hated for the slips he made in those relationships, not to mention the other bad things he did on the side . There are even a lot of people who ship Thor and Loki together ! So… If you hate Sylvie because she "wasn't nice" to Loki… Why don't you hate Loki himself for a lot of things that happened before the show ?! Because, technically, there is no difference ! And Sylvie did not watch Loki, only what he himself did to his relatives ! He says it himself : He betrayed all the characters he loved and who loved him ! That Sylvie "betrayed" Loki at the end of the series therefore had a certain obviousness, even if compared to what some say, it is not so much a question of betrayal as of being blinded by the need for revenge.

So why is Sylvie getting so much hate for not being "nice / loyal to Loki unfailingly" to Loki ? The only real difference technically is that she's a woman, and… Oh. That's the difference. Obviously !

Then, some hate this relationship for the "incest" aspect…

So…

Sylvie and Loki are not brother and sister. They have nothing to do with family.

Yes, they're technically "the same person", according to the show, but it's a lot more complicated than that actually, and I imagine the rest of the show will expand on that aspect. A variant is not exactly the same person. It's more or less a mutation I think. And if I say no bullshit, even on the DNA level it is different. And Sylvie refuses to truly define herself as a Loki, and rightly so. They are different people, who have had their own lives and experiences on their own. They are not the same, but similar. Two different things.

Then there are other people who don't like it for the "narcissistic aspect", and I refer you for that to this article by the director of Loki which explains what "self-love" really means. through the sylki relationship in the series. Which ultimately has nothing to do with narcissism, you can imagine. There is also talk about the incest aspect that he refutes just as much !

Also, again, there are people who ship Thor and Loki. And they are brother. Yes, not biologically, but for the rest ? They are brothers in every way that matters. However, it doesn't bother anyone to ship them, and I've never seen anyone be scandalized by it like with Sylki, who once again has nothing to do with incest in the end...

And even if it was ! I want to tell you… who cares ? Yes, because, little detail that a lot of people seem to forget… It's gods, isn't it ? Isn't incest common among the gods ? Yes, I know, among the Nordic gods it was not very well seen, unlike among the Greek gods, or we don't care ! But ! However, if you look closely, even if the Nordic gods were not in favor of incest, at least for the Aesir, well it still happened, especially among the Vanir, who were totally in favor of it ! And that I know, like the Greek gods, it had no genetic repercussions ! Because… Well they are gods, again ! And the conventions of mortals and their constraints, who cares for the gods !?

So your moralizing discourse, you can keep it to yourself.

And then… The most pathetic aspect of the returning reviews is about the kiss, which apparently "doesn't make them romantically canon." So, despite the fact that the romance is very assumed throughout the series, it is not canon, and the only thing that could make it seem romantic would be the kiss, but which in fact is nothing romantic ! So it's not canon ! Compiled once again that by the way Sylvie has only used Loki throughout this story…

So, I've already refuted the "Sylvie having used Loki" aspect, so I'm not going to come back to it… But ! I won't refute that Sylvie used the kiss a bit to distract Loki and then send him somewhere else. Except… Well she didn't have to kiss him specifically for that. She could have chosen another method, which implies that she wanted kiss him somewhere. The director also explains that Sylvie actually kissed Loki to say goodbye ! Especially since it's not as if the series had already shown before that Sylvie had feelings for Loki ! People forgot the fucking Nexus in the beginning of episode 4 ?! Because, yes, I remind you that we are not talking about one-sided love in this mess ! It is always insunated that it is reciprocal ! They are referred to as a couple of Loki in the series ! Miss minute offers them a universe where they could be together ! If only the "shared blanket / tablecloth" scene damn it ! Oh yes ! It sure looks like one-sided love... ! Yes, because for some people ; Sylvie is not in love with Loki and has only used her personal feelings to distract him in this moment…

Are you being stupid or blind on purpose ?

Seriously, I keep seeing jerks say "What are Sylki fans celebrating in that kiss! It's not romantic canonization! She's just manipulating it! There's never nothing romantic between them in the whole series!"

It's on the same level as everyone who said Reylo was nothing romantic and the kiss finally shared at the end of all their romantic tension over 3 movies was nothing romantic and was just an impulse to thank him, or even worse a "brotherly kiss" !

The comparison is all the more relevant as some say that "Yes, Sylvie loves Loki, but like a brother ! Or, I prefer that she loves him like a brother!" !

It is pathetic.

Man, I don't even go here (as in I'm not in the Loki fandom) but seriously what is the problem with some people??? It's like, you don't like a character? Fine! Totally normal. But maybe don't say shit like this to actual human beings???

It reminds me of when the last Star Wars trilogy came out and fans of R!ylo started harassing first regular people who shipped ReyFinn or even just liked Finn, and then took it far enough as to harass John Boyega himself on Twitter and threaten people if R!ylo wasn't canon. People I know directly have gotten DEATH THREATS for liking Izzy from OFMD, and I've heard more than one person say about at least two different characters in two different fandoms that they deliberately put their hate posts in the main tag or ship tag because "people who like (x) should have to read this kind of thing, and I force them if they won't" or similar. And being told it's triggering for some people responding with "anyone who likes (x) deserves to be triggered idc"

Fandom is supposed to be fun first and foremost, even with the angsty stuff or deep metas or whatever. I don't know how some people can't get it through their thick fucking skulls that there's a human being behind the screen and they deserve respect. If you don't like a character or a ship it's as easy as blocking the tag and not following that kind of content. What posseses people to harm other actual human beings over liking or disliking a character is beyond me.

People are insane. Or, maybe, they just need to go outside and breathe, touch grass and doing something, you know, real. Social medias are dissociative and day after day I feel the need to stay away from them, even though it’s hard because a good 80% of my job is there. The sylkis continued to repost the tweet and I silenced the post so I can’t see what they are saying about it. And I don’t give a damn about it!

Ok, I'm ship neutral, so no ship hate, but I have never seen people absolutely denying reality and facts this hard and as a logic loving person I cannot stand this level of delusion.

Lokius shippers might as well argue the earth is flat in the main tags, that's what it feels like to scroll trough this weirdness.

So it's gonna be this one rant post, correctly tagged of course, to vent and then I'll have to blacklist this tag (which I have never done before with any tag, cause nothing was ever this bad) for my sanity.

Firstly:

Sylki is the canon relationship of the show.

Still, even if they've broken up.

So, if Loki is in love, it's with Sylvie.

That's that Isaac Bauman interview.

It is not in any way confirmation of lokius.

(Oh and the rainbow as a symbol of hope and new beginnings passes over everybodys face. Because Loki gives everyone hope. Rainbows did have symbolic meaning before the creation of the pride flag and by denying that, shippers sound like weird ass Karens claiming the fashion industry is pushing the gay agenda by printing rainbows on kids shirts.)

Now next interview, the Kevin Wright one:

He talks about Sylki as a romantic relationship and how much Loki still cares about her, even if there is no time to focus on that, and mentions that Loki was only able to do what he did 'because he cares about her, he cares about Mobius, more than anyone he's ever cared about.' Both of them!

So shippers actually took a Sylki interview to make it about Lokius.

The 'it's about who': there's an Eric Martin interview, where he explains that losing Sylvie was the last straw for Loki and then he started to control his slipping and it was about all of the people he cared about.

Which is logical, since he can slip if he focuses on a person. If it was about Mobius only, how would he end up in the citadel again.

And Loki does a full turn, then looks at the space where the audience would be, but not directly into the camera. Because it is about everyone in that room. Full turn.

Tom's interviews:

Tom calls both Mobius and Sylvie mirrors in an interview.

He uses 'passionate disagreement' for both of them.

He had to be informed about Lokius, because he wasn't aware of it, but is obvi ship neutral/ positive here, because he's a decent human being. That's still no canon confirmation.

Oh and the scrapped ep 5? There's no way it was simply 'romcom-like', as shippers love to imagine, that would have impressed nobody and Marvel already did that with WandaVision, so it would not have been a 'big conceptual swing.

It was most likely about Loki going back to the New York invasion, which is why B 15 is in 2012. Or slipping further back even.

That would not have fit the tone of the show and blewn the budget, so it got axed.

Now my inner virgo feels better.

PSA: New Tags

I'm trying to come up with new tags for my posts about Loki S2. And I find it kinda silly because these are just my opinions why should I tag them as positive or negative, anti or pro, or whatever. they can be both. They are both. Ugh.

Anyway, I was awake till 5 a.m. last night and I spent my time making gifs and finishing one of my posts which I'm going to post soon and here's what I come up with for new tags:

Content: Tag

S1 and S2 Criticism: loki tv show negativity, loki series criticism

S1 criticism: loki s1 negativity, loki s1 criticism

S2 criticism: loki s2 negativity, loki s2 criticism

S1 pro/positive content: loki s1 positivity (I don't think I ever use this tag :D but just in case)

S2 pro/positive content: loki s2 positivity

S1 and S2 pro/positive/general content: loki tv show, loki series

Tagging posts for characters and ships are even more difficult. I always try to analyze characters fairly and regardless of my emotions.

I don't hate Sylvie, I sympathize with her a lot of times but I don't deny that she has a lot of flaws and she wasn't well-written especially in S1.

I don't like Mobius. Ok I hate him. But there were a lot of times that I liked him in S2. Still my perspective on him is negative. And imo with good reason. I acknowledge that he has good characteristics though. And I think one of the reasons I hate this character is because Owen Wilson played the role so well, and not mentioning that this character is very flawed isn't fair to his portrayal.

So I don't know whether to tag my analysis of these characters. Tell me if you want or don't want the analysis about them to be tagged according to the content.

About ships. I'm neutral about sylkie so you can find content on it on my blog. Lokius is a NoTP for me. There will be no content or meta about it. But you also won't find posts hating on ships on my blog. Because I hate ship wars and I find them useless.

i know that term emerged out of a ton of backlash to season 1 and therefore i shouldn't like the distinction of using that tag to indicate that you care about the disney couple as if it's a hot button issue but also like. i am pro sylki. i am a professional at this shit. i'm going competitive actually.

You know I love anytime Sylvie and Mobius get some time to shine on their own so I have to ask about “Meeting Like This (Sylbius, Lokius/Sylki overtones, nsfwish)”

This doc, so far, just says

"It isn't fair, is it?"

I had this idea right after the finale and seeing Mobius and Sylvie standing together and having FEELINGS.

I remember thinking there's just no way Sylvie will be able to stay away. There's no way either of them will be able to stay away from the other. Sylvie especially I think would want to just forget about the TVA and everything that happened but she'll find that she can't- and Mobius is the only one who shared that experience with her of watching Loki make the decision to go out and save the branches.

So it's basically like "we have to stop meeting like this" because it's somewhat unhealthy, or at least it starts out that way, they just go over and over and over these bad traumatic things that happened whenever they see each other, and eventually they probably end up fucking but it's sad.

Ultimately, and you know this is how I roll, it turns out to be vaguely hopeful but nowhere near resolved.

Anyway, I haven't made any progress as you can see, and it's a pretty ambitious idea. I'm not giving up on this one yet, though! I've really had so many Sylbius feels since that scene.

I do think they are living a bit in denial but I wish I could say this surprises me, but its not new, they've always taken sylki moments and tried to warp them into being l*kius moments. The 'its about who scene' although it is about the whole gang collectively it was confirmed that Sylvie was the last trigger that helped him control his time-slipping, when asked very explicitly if that line was about a specific person or the group as a whole the response the head writer said was it was both, meaning it was specifically directed and about Sylvie but also encompassed the rest of the group who were his found family, so you could argue that scene is a sylki scene but they always use it as 'proof' that L*kius is canon. Other scenes they use in this way are the 'for you' scene which as many have pointed out is a throwback to thor when he said the same thing. Again others have pointed this out but the structure of the original line was the 'for you' was directed at a singular person, his father, the 'for all of us' was to include thor and the people of asgard. Seeing as this line is a mirror of the original it makes sense that the 'for you' is directed at a singular person. It also makes sense with everything we've seen in the show, the fact that its the canon ship, that this 'for you' is directed at Sylvie. Especially as the line just before it is him saying 'I know what I want, I know what kind of god I need to be' which are continuations of conversations Loki had with Sylvie alone, the one in the bar where she asks him what he wants, and the one where he visits her to tell her about the loom being a failsafe and him possibly having to kill her and she says he'd be taking everyone's free will from them and asks him if that is the kind of god he wants to be. I'm not going to say this line is one hundred percent definitely directed at Sylvie alone, we'd need confirmation from a writer, producer or tom who improvised the line, for that. But logic tells me its most likely directed at her. But again any time a sylki makes a post about that scene you'll have l*kius shippers jumping in to scream that mobius was there too. Well thor was there too in the original scene but nobody will deny that the 'for you' was directed at only Odin. Sylvie was the more prominent figure in that scene, she was (literally) front and centre.

Then there is the scene you've mentioned here, with that final look loki gives over his shoulder, which honestly that look gave me goosebumbs. But as you pointed out Sylvie was the one they focus on the most in this moment, her reaction. But they edited her out completely in that gif set, though to be fair to the op of that gif set they have tagged it correctly so its up to them if they want to edit her out, shippers are going to ship. But what I love about that scene was how it parallels the one in 1x5 when they are facing alioth and Loki decides to be the distraction so Sylvie can enchant it, she shakes her head at him the same way because she doesn't want him to sacrifice himself, she doesn't want to lose him but he goes anyway because he knows there is a greater purpose and lives to save. To me the culmination of Loki's arc, of him making this sacrifice, comes back to that line in 1x6, he just wants Sylvie to be ok, this sacrifice is how he ensures that happens.

I'll admit I've never quite seen this amount of denial from a fandom before, like I've seen people ship non canon ships before, I've shipped plenty of non canon ships before myself, but usually the fandom will enjoy the ships scenes and content but still recognise that the ship isn't canon. Having antis try and gaslight me into believing that I misinterpreted the canon ship is also a new experience for me but, all of this being said, if they are keeping it in their own tag and not harassing sylki shippers, then I just leave them to it, if that's what makes them happy, why should I worry about what they ship or post? I find I am happier just enjoying the content from my ship and trying to ignore any negativity, though I appreciate that is sometimes hard to do especially when it features prominently in the main loki tag and some of the takes are, at best, really bizarre or, at worst, very insulting to sylki shippers.

Prompt by Anonymous on Wattpad: Hi could you please write Sylki fluff when they reunite

Summary: Loki finds Sylvie working in McDonald's, joining her on her lunch break, spending time with her after searching for her for so long.

Loki's eyes instantly began to tear up upon seeing Sylvie after all this time. He never expected to find her working at McDonald's of all places, being the first face the customers see, the red and white striped uniform with a name tag pinned to her chest made her look almost human. Far from the leathers and cape he was used to.

Mobius pat's Loki on his back for support, in return Loki slightly nodded his head in gesture of thanks, then he took a deep breath before slowly and purposely approaching the service counter. Sylvie's smile slipped from her lips as he approached after her last customer she served stepped aside waiting for their order.

"Hi." Loki says softly, his eyes still teary and hopeful too. He hopes she doesn't run, if she did, he knows it would hurt him deeply.

Sylvie looks over his shoulder at Mobius, who just gives her a small wave and smile, before he takes a seat at one of the nearby tables. Then Sylvie's gaze is back on Loki. "I'm just going on my break!" Sylvie announces to the other employees, as she grabs her knee length cardigan, which causes Loki to sigh heavily thinking she's going to duck out on him. Instead Sylvie grabs some food, bags it up and fills up two cups of Coke, then she bumps into his arm on her way out as if inviting him to follow her.

Loki didn't have to be asked twice, but he had to check in with Mobius first, he looked towards him with puppy dog eyes. Mobius mouthed, "go get her." Loki smiled at that before he left the fast food restaurant to catch up with Sylvie in the parking lot.

He found Sylvie sitting on the back of a green truck with the brown paper bag beside her as she began to unpack one of the boxes, before she held it out to Loki once he was close enough, and he graciously accepted it. He hesitated a moment before he sat down on the back of the truck too, the brown paper bag with the big yellow m on the side was all that separated them. He carefully watched Sylvie as she opened a second box that she'd taken out of the bag. Watching her take the first bite, before he opened the box she handed him, and he too then began to eat.

They ate in silence. A silence that was a little awkward initially, but it soon turned into a peaceful moment between the pair. The slight breeze past their faces and through their hair, the air cool and the sky a little cloudy, yet not dark. It was decent enough.

It took Loki half way through his Big Mac to move the brown paper bag out of the way, placing it further back, catching Sylvie's gaze briefly in the process. He then scooted closer towards her, their shoulders then touched, and he gave her a soft smile. Deep down he knows she's worried about what he will say about being pushed through the Time Door, except for the time being he didn't want to talk about it, nor about what she did to Kang. He just wanted to enjoy this moment, being able to spend time with her, with his Sylvie. Even if it will take time for her to get where he is emotionally and physically, he will wait, he will wait a lifetime for her.
