the new minecraft community is so wack lmao. i always avoided any dream smp/adjacent content like the plague until recently, despite the fact that i am an avid minecraft enjoyer because they were the internet's current most insane fandom. i've just now gotten brave enough to watch some of those content creators and poke my head into some main tags and HOO, shit is weird!
first off, i ended up liking a lot of the content made by most of the creators i was scared of. i was always terrified of tommyinnit, tubbo, wilbur soot, and then dream team. now, after actually watching their content, i enjoy them! sans dream team, did not like their vibes. the new wave of brits and europeans though, they were a lot of fun.
fan spaces though??? they're about as bad as i expected but still good lord lol i got used to not seeing content like that and then boom suddenly we're back in the phan frerard spn trenches except there's a bunch of factions and all of the factions hate each other. i think i will also main tag this post with a bunch of ccs just to see what happens

Ah , the frank mythology. idk if it's intentional or not but a lot of the frank rumors make gerard look like the biggest asshole too. everything is frerard angst
bro i know lmao people love a narrative where frank is the undeserving victim skdkfjdk. i honestly think it's a combination of frank pretty consistently being the most emotionally open one - both in interviews (and number of interviews given) and in the (sorry) frankness of his lyrics. especially after the breakup he's undeniably been the fan-facing spokesperson of mcr, and i think it makes him a prime candidate for emotional projection yk. like you see all the comments about him being mcr's biggest fan (which he encourages obvs) but honestly i think people, subconsciously or not, take that a step further and see him as basically on the same 'level' as us. like when the band broke up and the fandom did that whole insufferable 'gerard v frank' thing which, besides erasing all the other people and circumstances involved in that decision, was just so immature lol. like i get it that's what happens when you get a fandom comprised largely of depressed teenagers who have had something that makes them a little bit happier taken away from them, but it's representative of a larger pattern where, for example, kids will listen to frank's sad music and feel their sad teenage things about it and in their world things are more black-and-white, right-and-wronged, victim-and-perpetrator, and that's where the boring Big Frerard narrative originates lmaooo. like there was so much genuine anger towards gerard after the breakup and frank was an easy person to project that onto and that's set the tone for so many things since.
i will say i do find it interesting that emotional distance and privacy is often perceived (albeit unintentionally i'd say) as a negative thing - something that indicates apathy towards the band and the fans at best, or ill will at worst. i think it's pretty telling that all through 2021 a lot of people were convinced that gerard was unenthusiastic about the reunion tour and only doing it out of contractual obligation, and that lots of people were surprised to see that mcr...enjoyed being back together and were good friends with each other, even though there was literally nothing to imply that there was ever bad blood besides fan-driven narratives largely fabricated from overanalysing frank's lyrics and finding meanings that they wanted to see lol. let's face it, for frerard reasons. because yeah honestly this was a lot of words to say it's also definitely primarily a frerard thing LOL. people want there to be a narrative and for shipping reasons they especially want there to be a narrative involving neat two-party angst, so they'll go looking for one. it's one thing to have fun with it and another when it dominates and colours literally all conversation in the fandom lolll

i literally am writing so many fics right now its a problem and im gonna tell u all about them bc who else do i have to tell.

hi mack i just need to say this and get your opinion because it really bothers me i read fanfiction and that's not bad in itself but i read stuff involving real people frerard in this instance and i feel ashamed about it even though i dont ship them in real life i only like the concept of it if that makes sense like i absolutely adore their families and would never ever bring real life into fiction but with all the discourse about it and how im just a perverted person it makes me feel disgusting
i have talked a lot about this in the past but i will rehash for u. i’m ok with fanfic and i still reread the ones that i love bc they’re just good stories. for me fanfic doesn’t translate into real life. it’s not the same people. when i talk to frank he is so far extremely removed from any frank that i’ve read about in fics. same with gerard. it’s just taking more literal inspiration from real life to put into your art i think. idk if that makes sense. the chraracters in fics look the same and share some of the same characteristics but they’re not real people. i don’t read fic and think god i wish this would happen in real life. you know? to me it’s just a story, same as if i was reading harry potter.
gerard himself said he had made peace with fanfic long ago and didn’t care if you wrote him into a human centipede with escape the fate skdjfsd like. he literally live tweeted himself reading a fic of a milk enema of people who were basically colleagues of his if you can think of the music industry that way.
as long as you don’t bring it into the present i think it’s fine. like. i do personally think there is history there between them that goes beyond friendship it is no secret that i feel this way! its based on many years of observations. its just my opinion. but i don’t think anything of the sort is going on now, i know they both have families that they love very much and they’re happy. that’s what matters.
i don’t think you’re perverted for liking rpf. i know a lot of people are against it and thats fine but i think i you’re respectful about it and aware that its fiction it doesn’t really matter. plus we have gerards blessing lmao.

yo my name is nat and i really like stingrays and mcr. I made this blog last year in late october when I realized that mcr is a blessing, literally the day frank released new music so that was p cool. yeah believe it or not but mcr used to scare me before that and I only had a couple songs by them — I hated teenagers especially because curse words !!1 scary !! I was such a prude oh my god what happened. I’m 15 y/o and I have too much ambition for someone who greatly lacks motivation (planning to go to harvard med school to be a military trauma surgeon — a person can dream I guess.) I don't care about my pronouns rn bc tbh I have no idea about my identity but !! and I am demisexual! I think!! I'm not sure about that either lmao! I plan on writing once my writer’s block fucks off and I also realllyyy wanna learn bass guitar — still kinda broke rn so it’ll have to wait. my only other fandom is mcu (marvel cinematic universe) and words cannot express my love for pietro maximoff ok. I don’t do a lot of shipping but frerard and stucky are my only otps and I would die for them. Also I’m an entp and I like spicy memes (the most important information rlly.) This about me is really awkward and cringe-worthy but !! aren’t all about mes kinda awkward tbh. If you ever want to talk just hmu!!
