Really enjoying Humans-B-Gone! so far… It’s an indie web series on Youtube, with a blog on Tumblr, and its episodes come in very short, bite-sized chunks! It’s about a world in which the power dynamics are reversed, with bugs being the people, while humans are the tiny pests they look down upon. It’s got amazing worldbuilding based on so much scientific research; Humans-B-Gone! is a glimpse into a truly alien world that nevertheless makes perfect sense from the perspective of those within it, and the way bugs view us is like a mirror of how we view bugs.

The series really highlights how us humans take for granted what we assume is normal, by framing our differences from insects as the weird and strange thing, and even being reductive in how human bodies are described; All of which highlights the absurdity of how we discuss bugs and their anatomies, and really just things and lifestyles that are ‘different’ to us.

I’m having a lot of fun with Sophodra and Rose, and… Maybe I’m just projecting, but I kinda see a lot of parallels between Humans-B-Gone! and The Owl House?

There’s a central dynamic around our main protagonists. You’ve got this older, more experienced mentor who’s running her own business single-handedly, and basically the only one of its kind; Dealing with human-related things, which everyone else views as strange and foreign. This mentor is plenty flirty and definitely has her wiles while advertising, and a business-like attitude regarding her profession; But it’s quickly apparent that she is genuinely interested this human-related stuff, and is a total and utter nerd about it, being low key feral af.

The mentor is different from the rest of society, having an appreciation for life and a particular part of the world around her that most are indifferent to, or even demonize. This thing, she goes out of her way to preserve and learn about, and is deeply passionate and defensive over. The mentor has that lanky build and those kinds of hips (and Sophodra’s voice even reminds me of Wendie Malick, AKA Eda’s VA). There’s the chaotic, F around and find out vibe that’s kinda lax about dangerous things she’s messing with, only to get into the consequences of her actions.

By contrast, you have this younger and inexperienced apprentice, who unlike the more ‘ladylike’ mentor, has a more ‘girly’ vibe and aesthetic to her. She’s still learning and it’s essentially a coming of age story for her; She’s got interests and is actually quite knowledgable, but society discourages what she wants to do and thus she’s forced to settle for something more ‘practical’. The apprentice is introduced engaging with idealistic media about a hero defending the world against a great evil, amidst a familial environment.

The apprentice meets the mentor by chance, due to the mentor’s human-related business, and after showing her knowledge, is invited to be a partner in crime. The apprentice moves in with her mentor, visiting a new place, and is frequently perturbed by some of the things her mentor deals in, to comedic effect. Nevertheless, like her mentor, she has an engagement with the world around her, and is learning.

Said world is VERY biological, a living thing, with many devices and tools also being alive as well; Humans find this place alien, especially for how red it is. Society is divided into different groups, and they are dictated by a uniform, authoritarian police force, ruled by a monarch considered divine. There’s a mysterious masked human who opposes the alien world the viewer is introduced to, on the basis of defending humanity. Hidden lore and backstory is alluded to, amidst the grounds for a greater conflict.

There’s body horror, and the story emphasizes finding beauty in what is considered ‘grotesque’ and ‘unconventional’, how strangeness is all relative. Expectations are subverted, especially with how things that seem intimidating can be quite welcoming, while those once familiar are distorted to a dangerous extent; We even have a benign ungulate reframed as something alien and dangerous to both humans and the non-humans. It’s a celebration of nerds and weirdoes in a sense, people whose interests may seem unusual, as is their way of going about these interests.

…Seriously. At this point, all we need is an equivalent to King for Humans-B-Gone! Maybe… that random Housefly neighbor? Professor Gregorsa? King did have an interest in researching demons. Plus, I’m reminded of how the original drafts for Emperor Belos portrayed him as Emperor Pupa, an insectoid tyrant who claims to speak for the true ruler of the land, whose screams only he can understand, as they have yet to emerge from their cocoon… No thanks to Pupa’s hidden sabotage. You can see the visual remnants of this in how Belos’ mask and outfit resemble a stag beetle, too!

Amane T1 Cover - Positive Parade

Been a while, but we're back to covers! Time for the specialest girl ever, Amane and Positive Parade! I miss her sounding as happy as she does in this song, man. At least she seemed to be having fun in parts of Purge March too, but that was a different kinda fun. Anyways, let's go!

Positive Parade is possibly the one covered song in Trial 1 with no explicit references to romance or sex, which in my eyes is a win for Amane, common best character w.

What also makes this song stand out is just how happy it is! It actually is an extremely optimistic and uplifting song, where the singer encourages someone else to follow their dreams and remain positive in the face of adversity.

Stuff your heart full with all your dearest dreams Go for broke on all the things you wanna do! “We can’t stop” Is this a good feeling? Or is it no good after all? On these never-ending nights, let's talk while dancing with the stars Even when times are tough, the light is always by our sides “We can’t stop” You’ll turn out okay! Because you'll find your smile fits you perfectly

(I'm using this translation because the translation in the Milgram wiki has very odd wording at times, so I think it kinda confuses the meaning a bit)

The 'never-ending nights' I believe represent the struggles of life, which at times feel endless. But the singer suggest to talk while 'dancing with the stars', while engaging with the light in the darkness. "Even when times are tough, the light [of the stars] is always by our sides." Optimism! Happiness!

There is the "is this a good feeling? or is it no good after all?" line which seems like it could imply some lurking horror, but there's a few ways to read that. I actually think the singer is asking if the person being sung to is happy with what they're doing, or if they should stop and move on to something else, which is similar to this line:

This isn’t enough, not yet I need to make sure I don’t mess up the words I want to say “I forbid you from pushing yourself too hard" "I’ll be right here” So you won't be discouraged by what comes tomorrow, if we could laugh together again... That's why you gotta stop those "what'll happen if"s!

The singer wants the other to make sure not to push themselves too hard, and reassures them they can rely on the singer.

The important part there is that the singer wants to be relied on. Not in like a dangerous way necessarily, just a "I'm your friend and I want to help you when you're down" kinda way. At least that's the vibe I get.

Heeeey, aren't you straight up bawling your eyes out? It's not normal for you to pretend that everything's fine. Even though you've got things you want to say Where's that sadness you've been shouldering? Come on, one day it'll just overflow "I'm sorry, I can't do it anymore, please help me" You don't want to imagine it, You don't want to hear it, do you? So before it comes to that, rely on me!

You know, I've seen people say that some people think this song is about toxic positivity, but to me it doesn't really look like it. The singer's literally telling the other that if they hide their pain, it's gonna overflow and that's bad. That's, like, the opposite of toxic positivity. And "you" don't want to hear yourself saying "I can't do it anymore, please help me", right? Just rely on the singer now before it gets too bad!

I guess you could say that sounds like a savior complex, which is definitely a way to read the song:

If someone tells you you're wrong, Even when you're not wrong at all I won't support anything that denies you You can take the opportunity to hold me close and you can share the burden of your worries with me You say it's embarrasing, but I'm embarrased too, you know! Don't laugh and say this isn't like me, It's my answer to meeting you. Rely on me, rely on me, please

Yeah, the "rely on me, rely on me, please" certainly feels a bit too desperate.

However, I still feel it can be read more charitably. Listen, this song was written as a theme song for a collaboration with a theme park named Yomiuri Land (Source, it's in Japanese but Google translate gives you the idea). There doesn't need to be a hidden horror here. While again, it's perfectly fine if you read it as a savior complex or something else, I personally see it as completely innocent positivity.

The line about both of them being embarrased by what's going on is very sweet. No big meaning there, I just like it.

So the singer either does or doesn't have a savior complex; at least they find quite a bit of happiness in helping others. If you're wondering about Miku shedding a tear in the artwork, it's probably a tear of joy from "dancing with the stars." In my personal opinion, there is no hidden horror in this song, it's just a really nice optimism anthem! The only way this would be horrifying at all is if it were being sung by, like, an abused cult victim or something.

... Oh.

Yeah this is where we acknowledge that, even though the original song may not be hiding anything too horrifying, it's being covered by Amane fucking Momose. And nothing this girl does ever fails to make us sad.

So, Amane here has the same "I want to make other people happy" attitude that we see in Magic.

[Magic] Only if, only if, only if I could be a good girl I hope, I hope everyone can be happy and smile Forever, forever together would be a dream

She's even called something akin to "Happiness Support Sister" in the credits. Amane wants everyone to be happy, that's ultimately her goal in everything she does. The thing is that the concept of "happiness" has been so horrendously twisted by her cult that a lot of the time it shows in a very... uh... concerning way.

Timeline 23/01/17 Amane: Happy birthday.Mahiru-san. How is your body feeling? Mahiru: ……ah, Amane-chan. Thank you. Yeah, I’m fine. Now I can move around if I use a wheelchair…… It’s all thanks to Shidou-san looking after me…… Amane: I’ll give you one warning. The two of you are dabbling in something tabooed. If you continue to go against the way of nature like this, you’ll just bring an early death upon yourself. Think hard about this. Mahiru: Amane-chan……? Are you really Amane-chan……?

Like, technically speaking, Amane is trying to make sure Mahiru stays happy. As in, not dead. She does something similar with Fuuta. Notably, she's only shown herself really hostile towards Shidou, who she dislikes for reasons even beyond the whole medicine thing. Long story.

But since this is Trial 1, she's likely not really speaking to anyone in the prison. So, who is Amane talking to? The most straightforward answer is that she's talking to her abusers, more specifically her mother probably. Because they are the "everyone" she's talking about in Magic; Amane thinks that if she can make them happy, she'll stop being punished and thus she'll be happy too.

Of course, this paints the entire song in a horribly grim light. Because now the singer's pleas to be relied on are Amane asking her abusers what she needs to do to make them happy.

You can take the opportunity to hold me close and you can share the burden of your worries with me You say it's embarrasing, but I'm embarrased too, you know!

The "burden" here may very well be the things Amane does """wrong""", so Amane might be asking what she needs to change.

Question: What do you think happens when "it overflows"? When Amane's abusers are frustrated at something? Not Amane, just anything in general. How do you think that goes? In a lot of cases, chid abusers will find any excuse to """justify""" hurting their child when they're frustrated by literally anything. That means it's very possible Amane now tries to make sure her abusers are happy all the time, because it's the only way she can think of to avoid being hurt.

"I need to make sure I don't mess up the words I want to say" sure reads a lot more sinisterly when "messing up the words" could end up with Amane being seriously hurt.

Yeah like that.

And this definitely reads like something she'd say about the cult. She won't support anything that denies the cult or their doctrines, you don't have to worry about that! Please don't hurt her.

The chorus is a bit strange with this reading, since what the "dearest dreams" are is very debatable. It's possible it's just general positivity without referring to anything in particular, but if it is something specific, my best guess would be "following the cult's doctrines and going to [heaven or equivalent]". Apart from that, again, the other stuff is kinda sinister under this reading. "Yeah, focus on the good stuff! Don't worry about the sad things! Please don't get mad! Please please please don't get mad and hurt me!"

But the thing about "chasing the dream" being following the cult's beliefs makes the "we can't stop" line really mortifying. Originally that's just "we shouldn't let our doubts stop us in our dreams!" but now it's "we can't stop following the doctrines because horrible horribe things will happen if we do!"

And wanna know a """fun""" little detail? I haven't been paying much attention to differences between the og songs and the covers, but Amane gets special treatment.

I invite you to listen to the "we can't stop" line from around 2:18 - 2:19 minutes into the song both in the original and in Amane's cover. In the Miku version, that's sung pretty much the same as every other time. However, in the Amane cover, it's sung in a noticeably different way. It's hard to describe, because it sounds a mix of exhausted, resigned, depressed, something like that. Think of it like this: if the rest of the song sounds like Amane is singing with her Trial 1 sprite, this one line is sung like her Trial 2 sprite. So:

Stuff your heart full with all your dearest dreams! Go for broke on all the things you wanna do! “We can’t stop” Is this a good feeling? Or is it no good after all?

Or translated for Amane:

"Follow your dreams of being a great follower and going to heaven!"

"Do all the things God tells you you should want to do!"

"We can't stop, can we? Even if it hurts, even if we are unhappy, we have to keep following that dream. Because horrible things will happen if we don't. And even if we try to change, then what was it all for? What did you hurt me for? There has to be a reason. Please tell me my suffering isn't meaningless. God will save us in the end if we keep doing this, right? That's the only thing I have left to hope for. We can't stop"

"Ehem- Doesn't it feel good?"

Or maybe I just like Amane angst a bit too much.

Anyways, that's the main takeaway from Positive Parade in my opinion. There is another way to read it, though, which I think is equally interesting. Mainly, that she might be singing it to herself, right before killing her mother. The "dreams" would be killing the mom, with the one more sinister "we can't stop" being there because it's a somewhat sinister dream. The "light in the dark" is a future without abuse I guess? The whole "rely on me" thing does come off as a bit weird, unless you go the "council of Amane" route and/or read it with the idea Amane has DID and then it just sounds like an alter, which would be something. "I won't support anything that denies you" and her mom did deny her... the issue there is that Amane also denies herself a lot of "vulgar" pleasures because Gozake ordainment. I don't think it works perfectly because of things like "I forbid you from pushing yourself too hard", but it's still a valid way to read the cover!

— Transformers OC Infodump !!

(( I have no friends who are into Transformers so I'm just gonna share my OC here.. ))

Their name is Tearshot and they are a G1 OC who was created out of my immediate love for Jazz and the need to have a stoic brick of a bot balance out his charismatic personality.

Very early in my watch of G1, I drew an idea I had for a Transformers OC who had a "defect" ( which I later went on to describe as a malformation ) where one of their optics looked like a tear was falling from it. This idea became Tearshot.

At first, Tearshot was essentially this. They were just a normal bot who had a defect and always looked sad. This quickly changed as when I wanted them to be something more unique. Tearshot became much more of an unfortunate bot, an accident happening during their creation that caused their tear malformation and a glitch in their emotional processing system ( I love making stuff up ), this making it difficult for Tearshot to visibly show emotion.

They are able to show some emotion, though it is barely noticeable. Also they can blush, but not too much, because I like blushing yet don't want to disregard their glitch. Essentially, they do feel emotion, they are just unable to show it. And they also have a monotone voice, so they have to rely on body language to convey what they mean.

Beneath all of this, Tearshot really is compassionate, they just tend to feel a bit discouraged as others often misunderstand them.

When I noticed that Tearshot's personality was sounding similar to autism, I decided to make them autistic. ( I'm not sure if I'm wording any of this correctly, but I'm not trying to be offensive )

When coming up with Tearshot's appearance, I struggled. After a quick practice drawing of a basic G1 body, I just went for it. I was drawing up various ideas for what Tearshot could look like, starting with their helm ( head ).

There was no direction whatsoever, I was just looking at various G1 characters and trying to come up with my own thing. I didn't like any of them. Then I finally got something after drawing with pen, something that I thought was going to be a disaster.

I'm not sure how to describe this, but I was pretty satisfied with it at the time. I really enjoyed it. For a bit, like a week, this was what I went with for the look of Tearshot's helm. ( Also for the bottom two drawings, I am referring to @/squidthesquidd's Transformers AU, the squishy baby AU, self-explanatory on what it is. I really like its art for the AU, check it out if you wanna see cool art :3 )

Then I drew up a full body for Tearshot in the style of the squishy baby AU and rambled. ( My handwriting is hard for some people to read, so I'm not gonna scribble any of it out ) I had also figured out an alt-mode for Tearshot: a Lamborghini Countach, except I didn't know that was already Sideswipe's alt-mode along with also being Breakdown's alt-mode. I tried to roll with it and just say it would be a coincidence in-universe, but it bugged me a lot.

By this point I had already developed a special ability for Tearshot. It was originally water abilities ( because tears are water ), I hated it then finally thought of energy absorption to be their actual ability. Energy ( of any kind; like electricity, heat, or even energy from the attacks of others ) can essentially be absorbed by Tearshot and used by them in various ways, mainly for energy blasts.

And for fun, if they absorbed energy but don't use it, then it gets stored in their body, causing them to gain "body fat" because of their stomach-area being made of a stretchy mesh material. ( Mainly because I thought this was a cool idea to imagine what this would be like if there was a figure for Tearshot. Kinda blursed considering what the quality of the 1980's toys was. )

And then I drew a different helm for Tearshot and latched onto it. Been sticking with it ever since and really like it. Also settled on a new alt-mode for them because I refused to have them have the same alt-mode as two other characters. They're a Lamborghini Jalpa now, and as long as it has pop-up headlights, I'm fine with it. ( Insert joke similar to Mia and Tia from the first Cars movie )

Remember when I said at the start that Tearshot was created to balance out Jazz's charisma? Yeah, I want to talk more about them and their relationship.

Tearshot and Jazz have known each other for a while, and because of this, Jazz is one of the few who can accurately read Tearshot's emotions. They are both close friends and Tearshot actually likes being around him. ( Another thing about Tearshot: they crave company, they enjoy being in the presence of others. This tends to lead to Tearshot clinging to someone for a while, often without verbally saying so. Jazz is someone who Tearshot mainly clings to. )

Although Tearshot was created by my love for Jazz, their relationship isn't exactly romantic in my version of the "canon" that Tearshot exists in. They are just friends, but I do like exploring the possibilities of where their relationship could go if it was romantic. I think of them having a sun/moon dynamic ( both in a romantic and platonic way ).

Another character Tearshot has a relationship with is Kup, because they are both family members. Tearshot is Kup's ( insert whatever the equivalent of a grandchild is for Transformers ). Kup is also one of the few who can read Tearshot. They like hearing his war stories.

I don't have any digital drawings of Tearshot because I have been mostly sticking to traditional art. The most I have been doing with digital is coloring a traditional drawing to try and find a color palette for Tearshot. A color that I associate with Tearshot is gray-blue, but other than that, I'm figuring everything else out.

[Rant, non-personal and general, and not really that heavy, but definitely still angry]

Having Thoughts again about how much of a negative impact cringe culture has had on people, especially younger artists.

Like it's ALARMING the amount of people I've spoken to who actually gave up on art for a few years (or gave up entirely) as younger artists because some shithead like pkrussl or some other person grabbed their art and tore it apart or passed it around to get laughed at. I've bumped into so many random people who were like "yeah I was featured in one of those videos years ago and it actually made me feel like shit and discouraged me for a long time" and it's low-key horrifying how common this was. Like many are adults now and still have confidence issues from it.

I've never personally been a victim of cringe culture myself tbh (everyone has been insulted at some point but that's the worst i ever got) but like, my heart hurts for people who were.

Like I'm actually genuinely angry by the amount of people who have been affected by this. It's kinda really fucked up how normalized it was to just attack random kids making art for fun online of their OCs or fancharacters and whatever. You expect high art out of some 14 year olds?

Hell, let's take it a step further- you expect high art out of ANYONE? Because plenty of adults who make art aren't exactly professionals either, but they're making stuff anyway and are putting it out there even if they know it isn't perfect. And you think it's okay to tear them down? You're just gonna make people feel shitty for doing pretty harmless, non-problematic, just kinda odd at worst, stuff that they like? It's kinda fucking entitled to hold other people to that standard just because you don't personally approve, don't you think. It's not like they're going up to you and shoving it in your face.

"If you put it out there you're opening yourself up for criticism" News flash, making fun of someone and criticism aren't the same thing. And if you do give legit critique and they reject it, then... so what. Why are you so pressed about whether or not a random stranger is taking your advice? I think more often than not it's just these people looking for excuses to project their own insecurities onto others, especially since people who are unabashedly """cringe""" tend to be happier than these other people.

I'm so glad this phenomenon of normalized rudeness is starting to die out, but boy does it bother me that it was ever a thing in the first place.

Be nice, for fuck's sake.

OMG HIIII!!!! It’s so nice to see you again! If I ever actually start my campaign, then maybe I’ll get some actual “canon” stuff to talk about with cool & funny interactions! But for now I just have my blorbos in the mind to tide me over lmao

But I have so many ideas & stories about them & their friends/family & even future mystery party members!

But Yernad is still one of my favorite oc’s ever, I really but my whole dndussy into his backstory. & then the original campaign he was supposed to show up in fizzled out. I still miss it so much, it’s still my favorite campaign I’ve ever been in, & it was all text based online. I just know he would’ve had so much fun with everyone’s characters, & the campaign was with people from the community, so it was extra fun! If anyone would be interested in doing something like that again… 👀👀👀👀👀

Putting the rest under the cut cause I got carried away

Naomi was my very first dnd oc & Yernad was originally an npc from her backstory before he moved on to an offshoot campaign from the first one. But those two have a bond like no other, they’re besties to the end. He’s like her older brother & practically raised her, so they got in a lot of trouble back in the day

Since she’s a satyr, she loves to roughhouse & wrestle, so they had a lot of tickle fights to tire her out. He’s one of the oldest in his family, so he’s a pretty brutal ler, but he knows how to keep it goofy & playful. He’d let her win more than a few times so that she wouldn’t get discouraged & would act really impressed at how she was able to take him down, regardless of how much she teased him about it later & rubbed it in his face. After their reunion he casually brings it up, because he honestly thought she knew & she’s like “YOU FUCKIN’ THREW THOSE FIGHTS?” & he’s just like “you were a kid, I was being nice!” But she’s like “nuh uh, you’re gonna lose fair & square” & she just pounces. Yes she does this in front of the party

I can’t remember what all I’ve said about him, but since he’s a dragonborn, he has quite a few hoards that he insists are just collections. Everyone collects something, it’s totally normal! But his bed is literally just a massive pile of stuffed animals. He keeps it in a sack & when it’s time to sleep, he dumps it out & climbs on top. If you make fun of his bed he WILL bite you!

Kinda angsty, but he’s got this massive scar across his waist that almost wraps around him completely, but it stops on either side just before it can reach his back. He was almost severed in half by a death slaad he & Naomi were fighting & it’s what killed him. For those not caught up on The Lore™️ Naomi had a funeral for him at the edge of the woods & someone recognized him & took him to a necromancer. So he’s fine & dandy now & his death scar has completely healed. It’s a pretty deep scar & the scales are much softer there & yeah y’all already know where my trash brain is going with this. But the parallel of that being his “death spot” is just too funny I’m sorry I had to do it to him

If anyone pointed this out he’d get so fucking flustered because he never thought about it like that before & now he won’t be able to stop thinking about it

& I feel like I probably mentioned this in my tickle monster post, but I’m not sure, but his character introduction in the campaign is literally in the middle of a fight with a tickle monster & her pups & it’s gonna be the goofiest shit ever. Except Yernad swoops in while it’s distracted & catches it for the party like the smug bastard he is just to make a grand entrance. But all that suave attitude flies out the door when you realize he knows how to catch it because he already got his ass handed to him by this thing

Alright, I’ve rambled on enough, please lmk if you wanna know about more of them! Or even more with Yernad, I have so many stories with him lmao. But I also love my other babies too! Especially my newer ones I’ve barely fleshed out like Magnolia, Tyldiane, & Sylviana

9:47pm: Had a ft call with him and idk it's always fun in the moment bc I truly don't like or respect his gf so I hardly remember she exists.... But does he also forget she exists?? Lol. Idk man life is crazy.

He said he liked that I have him his space and time to be quiet whereas she constantly needs direct attention. But we both agreed the whole not being able to talk to each other is making it like pent up emotion when we do talk to each other, it is like an addiction and like taking a hit of something. We know full well that we're capable of normal conversation with each other but 90% of the time, shit just escalates and it's like a crazy boost to the brain. I think for me, it's literally bc I don't have any other source of this type of attention, but for him? He said it's like compulsive behavior which is wild to me bc he actually could get this from another person? He's putting 100% of the blame on himself though and I'm glad because I don't feel like being responsible for his shit tbh I am not the one that needs to feel some type of way about it, I'm not doing anything wrong. He also said he likes me because (I forget the words he said) he said I'm basically always down or willing which he said really flatters him lmao 🤣 that's kinda funny, he said that's it's like "oh for me? ;)" and that he just enjoys it.

The weirdest part of the call though,,, he didn't remember sending me d pics literally last week? 🤔 I don't know what was up with that. I think he really just goes somewhere else in his mind when he's doing this emotional cheating stuff. I am pretty convinced that he has some type of compulsive disorder at this point. It's cool that he's becoming self aware and everything.... But do I want *this* crazy as my husband, father of my children? Too early to say really. He really does too much and seems somewhat mentally unstable. I think we still want to see him in his single era, definitely want to see him outside of his parent's house again era and also see that post-gf side of him. Very difficult choice but if I had to pick just 1 I’d say world is mine by hatsune miku but actually by (ryo)supercell truly got me through it all <3

Already answered this one, usually I’d say some runner ups but I actually can’t think of that many movies I’ve seen this year I’m sorry. My favorite movie overall is the emperor’s new groove you already knew that you’ve seen my letterboxd. My most anticipated movie of 2023 is Barbie it’s going to either be amazing or absolutely terrible either way I will love it

9. Best month of the year?

This is pretty difficult to answer because it’s hard to remember ofc. An entire month. December has been pretty solid so far but I hate my job (<I don’t it’s moderately annoying) so that brings it down a little. I think I’d say October because although a lot of stuff I hated happened that month it was also highly emotional which I think is very fun. I was losing it for like 2 weeks straight feeling every emotion it was great

24. Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions?

No, and I never make them because I know I’ll forget or get discouraged. I feel like it’s better to learn as you go along then try to stick to a plan like arbitrarily. Bc if you feel bad for messing up that’s just discouraging when really fluctuations in resolve and motivation are normal ykwim? Oh wait actually I liked I wanted to read at least 1 book a month this year and I have <3 sometimes multiple even. It’s not that impressive lol but it was nice to make progress since I read like even less last year.

25. Did you make any characters this year?

Let me think of someone I haven’t talked abt before…. No I think I’ve talked about everyone so far. Gabriel I haven’t talked about him. He existed prior to now but I only just gave him like an actual personality and motivation. It’s not that deep he’s basically a foil to Rocio, very similar motivation but warmer and way more social when he was alive. Quest for knowledge due to a mix of entitlement and childish innocence. Kind of old fashioned. Fantasy German <I have yet to come up with a last name for him what’s a German last name. I haven’t developed him all that much bc he’s not too important (sorry king 😞) but I like the idea of him and Rocio meeting briefly and finding kinda kindred spirits, before he fucking dies. Originally he was going to be fantasy British but then I decided it would be funnier if British people didn’t exist so I changed my mind.

so, being a curious young person— you wanted to make a tiktok, where you went on omegle just to speak to people for fun

and inside of your head, you’re kinda thinking that “this is dumb, omg im going to get flashed on there.” also while you were setting up your laptop

but you just used the appropriate tags and !! you were set off for an adventure

you set your phone aside, and you filmed most of the experience— cutting out the not so interesting encounters out of your tiktok

and then came on a dude, who had a,, unique reaction. he didn’t seem all that fishy— until he asked you for your snap (your social medias, essentially)

“you’re kinda cute, y’know. how did i not see you before?”

you shake your head, “oh no no! i appreciate your compliment, but i’m very much taken!” your mind immediately flashing back to the image of your icyhot boyfriend

“nahh you’re lying! i don’t see any dude back there”

oh,, and that was because shouto was out getting snacks 🧎 “no really dude, i appreciate it! i’m very much taken and being disloyal is out of the question!”

this dude just kept insisting and insisting, and due to the struggle— you weren’t able to hear the door knob jiggle

it seemed to be that his advances came to an end, and your lover made an entrance— a mop of red and white peaked out from the door frame

and the dude literally got scared and ended the conversation 💀 because you really weren’t lying!

you also figured that it was time to end your omegle shenanigans, and finish the tiktok— because your boyfriend was already there “hi love, who were you talking to?”

you show him the tiktok, “the tiktok did well.” he’ll comment calmly, but shouto’s lowkey MAD ?? that a dude had the audacity. but he’s just glad that you’re happy just maybe,, don’t go on omegle anymore 💀

“love— next time, let me in on your tiktoks.” he says, running a thumb along your cheek lightly. because he was actually quite entertained, putting everything aside

bakugou katsuki

as if bakugou katsuki would let you go on OMEGLE, a place that’s known for having the sketchiest people to ever exist— but make it virtual

but being with you made him realize that well,, if you want to do something, you’ll go through lengths just to do it.

even the great bakugou katsuki can’t really stop you. whatever makes you happy— but oh, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t highly discourage it

which lead you to go on omegle for a tiktok in the other room, while bakugou exercised in the very next room.

when you told him that you wanted to film a tiktok, bakugou only shrugged— “don’t do overly dumb shit.” was what he only told you and he left the door open too

you then set up your phone and laptop, applied the appropriate tags— and went off to make your tiktok

you only filmed the interesting encounters, and the people you met on there were very diverse in personality and just,, in general.

after the 4th encounter, then came a rather interesting dude. he didn’t seem all that ordinary but he wasn’t spectacular. he was just nice

and the conversation was rather normal— until he started asking for your socials “putting everything aside, do you have social media? you’re really cute.”

you reject immediately, “oh no, i appreciate your words but— i already have a boyfriend.”

you just have to hope that he noticed bakugou walking back and forth with equipment, but with his next words— that doesn’t seem to be the case

“i didn’t see anyone back there, a simple no would’ve been sufficient instead.” uh oh

“no really, i—” and before things escalated, katsuki’s head peaked through the door frame, freshly out of the shower “are you almost done, idiot?”

the dude literally looked behind you, and thought “oh shit, their boyfriend is bakugou fucking katsuki.” because bakugou is famous for,, multiple different reasons

the dude’s camera shakes in terror, “oh uhm,, it was nice meeting you!” not long before he dips from of the conversation, never to be seen again.

closing your laptop— you end the tiktok while bursting into laughter, and this action just confused katsuki ever further. he heard you speaking to someone, and when he looked, the person was nowhere to be seen

“what are you laughing at??”

“nothing katsuki, i was laughing at the tiktok i just made.”

then— you figured that it would be best to tell katsuki now that you were on omegle (long story short, he wasn’t pleased)

he scolded you that you shouldn’t be on omegle, but let’s be honest, he couldn’t stay mad at you— so he just cuddles the frustration away

when you upload the tiktok the following hours, it blows up pretty quickly—with comments like “LOL IS THAT BAKUGOU KATSUKI??” “he had guts until he saw bakugou katsuki 💀” “tbh i’d be scared too”

and when you report the news the katsuki, he smirks— “as he should be.”

midoriya izuku

at this point, izuku is very much used to your shenanigans on tiktok. he’s very supportive of whatever you do all in all

but, about omegle,,, yeah,, as much as he trusts you— he does not trust omegle. he’s aware that it’s a shady place, and he doesn’t advise that you do go on that website bc he cares

so when you brought up the tiktok idea, he proposed that he’d be there, right beside you just to monitor if anyone’s being weird :)

and that’s great! because you also wanted to ask if he wanted to be a reoccuring guest in your tiktok— and of course, what kind of boyfriend would he be if he opposed?

he helps you set up your laptop and phone— all of that sort of stuff, and then you guys were off to make an interesting tiktok

oh, but izuku did apply the appropriate tags because he didn’t want you to see odd things he was secretly nervous but,, you were very ethusiastic, so he was too.

the first several people were interesting in their own way— especially with their reactions to your boyfriend appearing on screen

usually, they’d back off with, and comment on how cute your boyfriend is— wishing the both of you well before calmly leaving to meet new people,

that was how it was, until you met this person in particular.

he sounded very,, egotistical— i wouldn’t say that because you’ve just met the dude, but he acted like everyone wanted him or it sounded like that

then he says, “you definitely have a phone number, right? you’re cute, just my type.” wkdksmd this is awkward since izuku’s right beside you, but he’s just outside of the frame

then, izuku pops out of the frame— in all his cute ass glory, he gives a small wave to the not so pleased stranger

“please, that’s your boyfriend?” he scoffs, “with those arms, he looks like he could be your little brother! now let me ask again—”

it’s really weird?? because have you seen izuku’s gainz?? and this dude’s audacity is extraordinary.

but little did this guy know, he’s looking at midoriya izuku— and,, you’ve seen his performance in the sports festival.

the dude takes another glance at your boyfriend, who’s sitting there right beside you— and he realizes who he was talking to

“oh shit, you’re—” and before the both of you could realize it, he nopes out of the conversation.

after that encounter, you burst into a fit of laughter— the look on izuku’s face being priceless. “you should’ve seen your reaction!”

“haha, i guess he knew who i was,” he says bashfully, cheeks warming up. because it registered in his mind that people actually knew who he was. “can you,, upload the tiktok later? i want to hug you— i mean! if that’s fine.”

of course it’s fine! you oblige, and give him all the hugs he could ever need

after cuddling with izuku, you do upload the tiktok— and an hour later, your tiktok notifications blow up

the tiktok all in all gathered 1M views, 780K likes, and over 1,500 comments— most of them saying stuff like

“your boyfriend’s reaction was so cute?? i know he looked like he was going to punch him through the screen but 👀” “last dude was just not it.” “LMAO HE REALLY TRIED IT” “is your boyfriend IZUKU MIDORIYA??”

when you excitingly showed him the tiktok’s results, he was certainly pleased— because most of the comments were positive, and also because the tiktok’s results made you happy

Brothers anon back again. I had a sort of writers block for the last like 2 days which made it really hard to do some questions, but I got em done finally. Sorry about the wait. This one is split between the numbered questions, and next ask is the other questions you asked!

I think I accidentally skipped a question in the last one. I honestly don't completely remember but in case I did skip it by mistake, the groups first travel out of the city's limits and even further beyond in a carriage. When they reach the end of how far the driver is willing to go they then get out and start walking. With Jackie screaming about how their finally going on a adventure.

1: It thankfully doesn't get to to bad before the others notice. And he immediately told them about Dream, wanting to be very clear with what happened and what they where getting themselves into. But they accepted him anyway and helped him.

2: Isaac is the leader cause Cletus is too much of a wildcard and too impulsive to lead safely, Charles is too shy to lead, and while Benjamin is perfect for leading he doesnt really like leading and is more of a follower than a leader. But Isaac can joke around and gets along with everyone but also be able to take things seriously and know when something needs to be handled.

5: They do not, they last for a few minutes and unless its a healing or regeneration potion (in which it can take a few days for it to fully go away) they have no long lasting affects. They do know of eachothers past to an extent, they know enough to avoid triggers and enough to know what not to do when around eachother. They know through telling eachother, and they feel awful Grievous and Jackie had to deal with that, but leave it in the past and focus on making their current life better.

6: Yes and no, while Jackie did mean to throw it at Ran, he ment for it to just hit nearby him, not directly hit him. It was ment to be more of a scare/intimidation tactic than anything else honestly. Grievous's luck is for basically everything, he has won the lottery twice before actually but only those 2 times, he's correctly guessed how many items are in a container more than a few times as well.

7: I use the height charts and they help mostly for comparison, problem is I have trouble applying it to real world stuff and because of that I still have trouble knowing if something or someone is to tall or short. Jackie can get very mean, like he can make fun of someone who just lost a loved one or experienced a traumatic event at the worst. But he usually doesn't get nearly that mean, most he does normally is making fun of how someone looks or how they do certain things. The others comfort him the best they can when he gets sad, and when he gets mean they either encourage it (Grievous), or discourage it and stop him (Watson. Ran is between either encouraging or discouraging it).

8: He was! He spent most of his life adventuring actually! He misses it somedays now since he lives in Subbin, but he believes giving up his adventuring life for a family and friends who needed him is a more than far trade and would happily pick his family over adventuring again. For around 4 years after Ran left Mizu (including the day he left), Ran traveled everywhere, and learned how to survive himself and taught himself different things, like sewing. Ran has made new socks, fixed clothes, and made blankets for everyone at least once. Watson also designs bows and arrows for show, for top functionality, and for just simple (training) gifts to the others. Ran (and Watson) has visited the nether, though Ran tended to stay in it longer than Watson cause he could withstand the temperatures better. And while digging a new tunnel across the nether he ran into ancient debris, which he then messed with until he figured out to mix it with gold and coat his sword in it. He tried to find more ancient debris but sadly hasn't found any, leaving his sword permanently damaged and at risk of breaking. Jackie isn't good at all at painting, its more of a hobby he's trying out. They try to camp out there at least once a week, where Grievous will sometimes build a pillowfort and either force everyone inside or play a game of capture the fort with them. Sometimes Ran will also read during the pillowfort nights, but not to often. Jackie wants to vist a Snow, Savanna, Jungle, Tagia, and if possible, a Ice Spike biome. He also wants to vist the nether but he'll have to fight Ran on that. Ran and Jackie's secondary titles are in Javanese!

9: Ran just kinda went "Hey Jackie, stand still for a second." "Ok?" And then he just picked him up and threw up.

10: When he's first given dinner after already eaten lunch, he just kinda stares at the food. Then asks if they meant to give him food, and when the others say yes, he asks why because he thought people only ate once every few days. His answer shocked the others and they ask him to explain, and he explains futher that he was only allowed to eat and drink once every 3 days. Their horrified by this answer but explain to him how theres 3 meals a day and he can drink whenever, he doesn't believe them at first but eventually accepts it.

11: When the fishermen first come to Ranbob about their worry, he expresses the same worry as them. But says that it's unlikely Ran will hurt the fishermen specifically, because Rans haunting are already friends with them, and Ran wouldnt risk breaking the friendship unless he deemed it necessary for their safety.

12: Ranbob is sad that Ran goes to such lengths to avoid him and keep people away from him, but he has resigned himself to it. As he knew that if Ran was alive it was greatly unlikely that he would trust him and knew he would be avoided. Which is actually particularly why he believes Ran will never trust him again and why he views Ran as a kind of lost family member. One he'll never get back no matter what he does.

13: Their first stop is a nearby flower biome, and after that Watson has planned to lead them to a waterfall he found with a shattered Savanna somewhat close to it. They plan to travel for a minimum of 6 months, they can actually travel for as long as they want to, but Prokius made them agree that they must be back before the next General Pit Battles (which happens once every 5 years).

14: He would 100% run himself into the ground until he's barely alive while searching for them. Benjamin compares Ranbob wanting to go back to Dream, to an abused person wanting to go back to their abusive lover. They believe they've changed and that they truly do love them and want the best for them, but in reality that's not it at all and others have to help them see thats not true and help them save themselves. So it doesn't surprise Benjamin or Isaac that much (it surprises Charles and Cletus though), and after its explained to them, their all more than willing to help Ranbob get over Dream and help him be himself again.

15: Oh definitely. Once they hear the Green-Eyed Enderman is back from hiding they all set out again, and after the group gets attacked and once word spreads that its in a group and there's another enderman with them, they all get targeted. With the Gladiators and Fishermen being targeted as bait or hostages to try to trick the enderman into following a trap. Ran wasnt affected like his brother was. Im talking about trauma and maybe even a bit of PTSD that came from Mizu, caused by Dream. Though both of the brothers have gained different amounts of trauma and PTSD from Dream. I may give the raven to either Watson or Ran, I think its fits both of them really well. I want to have them come across ruins of other Tales but im not sure which ones. Maybe they could find the remains of the Wild West Tale and the Haunted Mansion?

1: The perfect start to an Adventure. And a funny mental image. Imagining these two groups cramped into carriages is pretty amusing. How ready was everyone to get out by the time they could?

2: The fishermen are really great, and Ranbob is very lucky. I love them.

3: Isaac sounds like he’s a pretty good fit for it then. But nobody’s perfect! What are some flaws of his, leadership-wise?

5: Interesting. What makes Regeneration and Healing last longer? I suppose it’s not relative to the AU, but I am a bit curious. What’s the world’s potions mechanisms, if you don’t mind me asking? And that’s good! They may not know everything, but they know what to avoid, and that’s important. Everyone’s moved forward and are making the best of life, and honestly, that’s pretty cool of them.

6: Welp, Jackie, it seems intimidation tactic failed. However, you have managed to anger Ran, so..there’s that. He won the lottery? Dang. Well, if they ever need money, they can just send him to the nearest casino, I suppose.

7: Aight, so I may have a solution for you there. Whatever height you’re going for, find something in real life that’s just about the same height. Like a tree, or something. Or not, we can always just leave it at short enough to be tossed and tall enough to be the tosser. Jackie sounds like he knows where to hit to make it hurt, honestly. It’s good that they comfort him, though I am curious why they all react as they do to him being mean. Why does Grievous encourage it? And is it more of a depends on the day thing for Ran, or a depends on what was said to Jackie, and what Jackie’s saying thing?

8: Nice! What kind of places did he go? Does he have any particularly interesting knickknacks from that time period? And Ran personally sounds like he knows what he’s doing. Watson’s weapons sound really cool, where did he learn to make them? Is visiting the Nether not a common occurrence these days? Or is it simply that the others never got around to it before? Well, hobbies are always fun to try. Does Jackie keep at it and get better or get bored and try something else? How does Capture the Fort go with these guys, considering they’re gladiators? Why does Jackie want to visit those particular biomes? Is there a reason, or do they just sound cool to him? And why would Ran not want them going to the Nether? Because of the danger?

9: FDXGHJ- He just- tossed him?? No warning?? Oh my gods, I’m dying. How did Jackie react to that? Heck, how did Porkius react to that? I doubt anyone was expecting that display.

10: Oh, no. Now I really want to punch Dream in the face. What the heck, Dream?! He legit asks if they meant to give him food...If one of the fishermen or gladiators doesn’t eventually find a way to punch Dream, I will be forced to travel realities and do it myself.

11: Kind of sad that Ranbob was equally concerned about it. But hey! He won’t have to be, one day!

12: Poor Ranbob. I hope he’s proven wrong, eventually. Do the fishermen know that he thinks this? If so, how do they feel about it? Or does he kind of just keep those thoughts to himself?

13: Flower biomes are really pretty. What did everyone think about it? Did they bring any flowers with them? So this roadtrip could possibly go on for a few years. Did they leave just after a General Pit Battle, or do they have like, less than five years? Speaking of General, is Jackie still the General in this AU? Does he have extra duties because of it? Or is that not something that happened in this AU?

14: Yikes. Reactions to this? Why does Ranbob believe Dream’s changed, as you put it? Is Dream still able to talk to him, or is it because he just misses being there? So Benjamin and Isaac aren’t all that surprised about it. Do they take the reins in helping out? And how do they all do so? It’s good that they’re helping him though.

15: Well, this sounds like it can’t end well. They try to use the hauntings as bait? Is anyone actually captured? Rescue missions? And alright, that makes a bit more sense. I can see how they’d both be effected differently, and honestly, they’d probably both have very different perspectives of the event, all things considered. Ravens for the win! And it’d be really cool for them to come across the ruins of old Tales buildings. Can you imagine the kind of things they’d find? Diaries, faded photographs, moth-eaten clothes, blood stained floors...Like a walk in the past, but they’ll never know what came to be for the people of that time.

Hang on I need to lay down on my office floor for a minute and just kinda cry for a bit because I don’t know where this came from but I can only assume it was the actual honest universe looking out for me because I lowkey needed this and I just need to be one with my carpet for a second. It’s very cozy it’s very warm I wish to become it. Th-Thank you for this. I have been in a weird slump most of the night and. I dunno like. I. Creating Blue was very much a move of guilty pleasure --- the favorite faceclaim meets favorite subject matter meets current obsession and writing him has been. Incredible. It’s been so much fun I cannot even begin to describe it. I hate him. I mean that so lovingly. He’s terrible and it’s already been interesting to see what trouble he’s been able to get into and I know that as time goes on he’s only going to grow into something even more amazing. I’ve barely started on this boy but people have been so welcoming and they have been so excited and they have literally been so kind like you and I don’t know how to handle it I just wanna cry, so much. I think my main frustration stems from the fact that I am not personally at 100%. I have been sick for over 2 weeks and my blood pressure stuff is so discouraging. I think it’s way better than it was but it still all slows me down and I just. I really want things to go back to normal. I want to be able to write my heart out and produce better things and really just have a blast with people and I promise that I am trying and that things will be a lot more wild, soon. I appreciate this so much. I can’t wait to dig deep and find out more about this ... very bad dog.

Guide Me Safely To Shore (Chapter 3)

Peter’s on the floor in a pile of broken glass, wearing the Spider-Man suit, blood leaking from cuts and various injuries on his body. His eyes are drawn to a particularly nasty looking split on his leg, and for a moment he sees red. Rhodey’s hand on his shoulder steadies him, giving it a gentle squeeze that snaps him back into reality. “Bad,” he completes, finishing his thought from the table. “I told you it was going to be bad.”

Notes: So it’s come to my attention that I’m a dumb bitch, and I haven’t updated this here in ages. So. Uh. Yeah. Doing that now. Happy New Year to all my fellow people that follow the general calendar; congrats to everyone for surviving this long. Hopefully it’s all going up from here.

It is more than a few days, but not by much.

To say that he’d mostly put their meeting out of his mind would be… well, a flat out lie, if he’s being honest. Frankly, he’s spent every free moment practically stalking Peter from a distance. Having men assigned to follow and protect him, watching him himself through the cameras as he goes about the city and during his patrols.

Because of course he’s still patrolling. He wasn’t lying when he told Peter his suit would be waiting for him at home; he’d repaired and done some minor tweaks to it before having it deposited by a drone on the young omega’s bed, but he’d made sure it was returned, all the same. He’s a man of his word, after all, if nothing else. And he hadn’t interfered with his patrols at all, besides monitoring them closely now. Even when the boy interfered with some of his operations. Even if it was pretty irritating.

He’d also began making some basic changes around the tower. Peter is his soulmate; whether they like it or not, nothing either of them will do can change that. So he may as well start reflecting it. He doesn’t want him finally deciding to come after him and being shot down by one of his numerous security measures.

So he inputs Peter’s name and DNA into all of the security, and decreases the safety measures around his personal floors of the tower from above, just in case he decides to come swinging in randomly instead of taking the more normal way up. And on the off chance he actually does decide to take the normal way, he makes sure his name is added to his list of personal contacts, people that are allowed to see him without an appointment and have access to his private elevator to his floors whether he’s there or not.

On his actual floor, he starts setting up a room for him, making sure he has a place to go if he needs it. He doesn’t want to discourage him from showing up by thinking that they have to be sleeping in the same bed immediately; and frankly, he thinks that’s probably a bad idea. He only has so much self control, for starters. But there’s also his night terrors to consider, and he hasn’t slept regularly beside anyone in years, and… yeah, until they’ve gotten to talk in some detail, that’s probably not a fantastic idea. Besides, he wants him to have his own space, to some extent, even if it is where he can keep an eye on him. And he’s still young yet; he may want to have friends over, or at least a personal space to keep the stuff for his hobbies. Tony doesn’t have to be seeing him every second of every day, after all. He just needs to know that he’s safe and taken care of. Preferably in his space, where he’s sure it’s secure, and he’s not much more than a flight of stairs away if something were to happen.

As it turns out, maybe he needn’t have worried so much about the first part.

He hadn’t really considered, admittedly, even for all his genius, that meeting his soulmate might have some physical effects on the young omega. Some… very physical effects. At least, he doesn’t until Peter comes crashing in through his window.

He might have had more of a heads up if he was still stalking him quite as intensively. But the need started to fade a little after the first few days, when he started to figure out more about Peter’s routine: who he was with, what he was doing, whether his family and friends were trustworthy, the area he was living was safe, that he was eating, that he had everything he needed. And for the most part, everything checked out. His friends were clean; his aunt was busy but seemed like a good woman; he lived in a safe enough neighborhood… So by the weekend, he’d backed off, just a little, starting to mainly check in on him at different intervals, and only really watching actively when he went on patrol.

That was his first mistake, probably.

The second was abandoning his normal post watching him almost altogether on Saturday night, when he had company show up unexpectedly.

It’s his own fault, of course. He has precious few people he trusts in the world, and most of them have almost equal access to his security, his information, that he does. So of course, one of them was bound to notice the changes he’d made to his security.

The third was letting that company stay long enough to notice something was seriously up.

He’d say the fourth was having a drink, but the thing is, alcohol doesn’t really affect him anymore, not since the serum. He still occasionally finds himself drinking socially, or reaching for a glass of something strong when he’s particularly stressed or emotionally in turmoil about something, but it’s more of a placebo than anything now. The motion and familiarity of it soothes him more than the alcohol ever could, especially now.

So yeah, he has a drink in his hand when he opens the balcony door, and blinks in surprise when he sees Rhodey, his suit melting away as he takes the invitation to come inside. “I thought you were in California.”

“And I thought alcohol didn’t do anything for you anymore.”

Tony shrugs, taking a long drink of the whiskey in his hand, heading back to the kitchen to refill it. “It doesn’t. I just like the taste.”

“Bullshit. You drink when you have something on your mind.” Rhodey follows him back inside, tilting his head and watching him fiddle with the bottle. “This have anything to do with the kid you added to the security system?”

Tony glances up at him, surprised for just a moment before he shrugs. “Am I getting so easy to read?”

“It’s not a far leap to make. Though the alcohol indicates it’s something bigger than I thought.” Rhodey watches him. “You know I prefer you only set up dangerous traps like this with backup on hand. Why are you trying to make my job harder?”

“Maybe I just like inspiring you to randomly drop in on me. Making your job harder is the only way I get to see you, honey bear. You know I get lonely,” Tony deadpans, deflecting. On the inside, his mind races. He trusts Rhodey with his life, that’s for certain. But is he ready to reveal his hand so soon? He could, but where’s the fun in that?

Rhodes scowls at him. “Tony… really. Come on. Who is he?”

He shrugs and sips his whiskey. “He’s Spider-Man.”

Rhodey’s eyeshadows shoot up on his forehead. “Really. So you thought the best course of action now that you’ve figured out his identity was to make it easier for him to break into your building?”

“Well, he’s also my soulmate, so.” Tony quirks a shoulder again. “Yeah.”

“That’s all well and good, Tony, but you know how I feel about-... wait. What?” The words seem to take a long moment to fully register, and he’s halfway through beginning to lecture Tony about stupid, unnecessary risks just to make captures with a flair when he realizes exactly what he’d said. “He’s your soulmate?”

“Yep.”

“He’s barely an adult.”

“It’s not like I chose it, Rhodey.” Tony sighs, setting his glass down and folding up his sleeve just enough to expose his wrist, the tender skin where the previously ghostly words are now etched in stark black. “Look.”

Rhodey carefully takes his arm to get a better look, then lets out a low whistle as he releases it and leans back. “Damn. I can only assume it didn’t go well?”

“Well, I almost killed him before he said it, so you could say that.”

Rhodey settles down on one of the stools and motions for a glass, apparently deciding that he needed alcohol to continue this conversation. Tony doesn’t blame him. He slides a tumbler across to him and continues as Rhodey pours himself a glass, telling him the full story of the hunt and chase and the revelation as they drink.

“He’s afraid of me now, of course,” Tony murmurs. “But then, who isn’t, really.” He sighs. “I don’t know what to do, Rhodey.”

“Yeah, that’s kinda a shitty situation, Tones. I don’t know.” He shakes his head, swirling the remains of his whiskey around the glass with a thoughtful look. “Is he here, then?”

“No. I released him Sunday.”

Rhodey looks surprised. “ Why would you do that?”

“He didn’t want to be here, Rhodey. He wanted to go home.”

“This is his home now.”

“Maybe legally. But that’s not exactly the way to gain his trust, is it?”

“So? He's your soulmate. Legally, you’re responsible for him now. As his alpha and his elder, concern for his safety should come before anything else. Besides, he’s a liability in about twelve different ways out there. Did you ever consider that?”

“Of course I did! But keeping him prisoner here isn’t going to solve anything. He has to come to me on his own, Rhodey. It doesn’t mean anything if he doesn’t want it. And right now I just want to give him enough time for him to realize I’m not going to murder him outright. He’s already scared of me; any kind of pushing on my part is going to make that worse instead of better, and that’s not what I want.”

Rhodey exhales a long breath, rubbing his forehead. “Yeah, alright. Whatever you say. You’re a reckless, romantic fool at heart, you know that? Just watch yourself, Tony. And you might have to consider the possibility that keeping this... arrangement isn’t going to benefit either of you, let alone both of you.”

Tony shakes his head. “Yeah, yeah, I know. Believe me, my tender heart already hurts,” he deadpans, joking to cover up the fact that it’s not that far from the truth. The bond has a serious pull, even unconsummated, and were he a lesser man in terms of strength of will, things might be looking very different right now. He doesn’t want to acknowledge how close he is to doing something irrational anyway.

“I’m serious, Tony. You know horrible things can happen if you’re apart for too long, especially since you haven’t solidified the bond in any permanent way, yet. You’re supposed to be together more than ever at the beginning, not separate again within hours. The recoil of that is going to be-”

Glass shatters.

They both jump to their feet. Rhodey’s suit reappears in an instant, but while Tony gets up, he doesn’t summon his armor. There was no alarm before the glass broke, which means…

Tony jogs out to the living area with Rhodey hot on his heels. They both stop at the sight.

It’s Peter — of course it’s Peter, no one else would have been able to get so close or so high up without the alarms going off. And the sight of him makes Tony’s instincts scream.

Rhodey’s hand on his shoulder steadies him, giving it a gentle squeeze that snaps him back into reality. “Bad,” he completes, finishing his thought from the table. “I told you it was going to be bad.” He heaves a sigh. “I’ll start on cleanup. You take care of your boy.” And with that, he flies out.

Tony spends another moment just staring, unsure how to respond to that for a moment. Peter actually is his boy. Weird.

Then he jumps into action, crossing the floor to him. He’s not wearing shoes, having been in the tower for hours and not intending to go back out, so he lets the suit form just around his feet and ankles, so he can walk on the shattered glass without worry as he approaches him. “Peter? Are you alright?”

The younger man’s head snaps up. “Mr. Stark?” he asks, sounding almost tentative, lenses on the suit indicating his eyes are wide. He’s almost glad he can’t see them, knowing those Bambi eyes would ensnare and distract him in a second.

He wants to tell him to drop the formalities, but it seems like there’s bigger problems at hand right now. “That’s me,” he says instead, forcing a light little half-smile so he doesn’t scare him, furious as he feels. “C’mon, let’s get you out of all this glass, yeah?”

He almost expects the boy to resist, but instead his body practically melts into Tony’s as soon as he reaches for him. He’s surprised, for a moment, and has to readjust his grip to actually take his full body weight instead of just helping him up. He scoops him up, carrying him out of the mess and back into his bathroom. He needs a place to set him where he can get him cleaned up and assess his injuries, and in the middle of the room with all the broken glass seems like a bad idea.

Peter doesn’t move except to curl a little tighter into his chest, and he suddenly realizes the boy is shivering against him. That cold fury rises up in his chest again, but he forces it down, forcing himself not to focus on it, because if he feeds it right now it’ll grow until he can’t hide it and even a hint of it might terrify his young soulmate even more than he already has. And right now he needs him not to be afraid as much as possible, so he can get him taken care of with minimal fighting.

Not that Peter is fighting. In fact, he’s frighteningly pliable in his hands. He sits him on the bathroom counter, gently, tilting his head back to him and watching the lenses widen and close like his eyes are flickering open and closed, in and out of focus. That’s not good.

“Peter.” The lenses flare and fix on him. “I gotta take the suit off to check these injuries out, alright?”

The little whimper that comes from his throat goes straight through him in more ways than one. “Don’t… can’t take it…”

He isn’t sure what he means for a minute, but when he understands, it makes his chest ache. “I’m not taking it. Did I take it from you last time?” Peter shakes his head. “I just want to make sure you’re okay. I can’t do that like this, alright?” The lenses flicker again. “Peter?”

Too late. The boy slumps forward into his arms with a little groan. Tony jumps to catch him, pulling off the mask and frowning when he realizes he’s passed out. Great.

Well, at least it makes his job easier, if not happier.

He moves him to the floor, knowing he won’t be able to effectively hold him up and check him over. Carefully, he gets the suit off again, draping it over the hamper for him to deal with later. It’s going to need cleaning, and a whole list of repairs again. Does he deal with that level of damage to his suit and bodily injuries every time he goes out as Spider-Man? No wonder it takes him so long between patrols sometimes.

From there, he fishes out a first aid kit from somewhere, too focused now to pay much attention to anything besides the unconscious omega on his floor, and sets to work. He has Jarvis scan him so he’s sure he doesn’t miss anything and that he’s not in immediate danger. He’d take him to the hospital wing if necessary, though he’d rather not do that again.

It doesn’t seem to be. There’s a lot of blood and embedded, little shards of glass, but overall the injuries are superficial. Only the cut on his leg looks particularly bad. He probably won’t be able to walk properly until it heals, but Tony isn’t worried about his ability to clean it, so he sets to work.

It’s a tedious process, carefully picking out all the little shards of glass in his skin and then delicately as possible cleaning all his wounds. First with peroxide, sanitizing them, and then getting a warm rag from the tub and effectively sponge-bathing him. He was covered in blood, sweat, and probably some other things Tony didn’t want to acknowledge. He leaves his underwear on — a pretty little pair of panties that don’t leave much to the imagination, though he can hardly focus on that right now with bigger problems obviously at hand — but otherwise cleans him thoroughly before taking off his shirt and draping him in it. It’s huge, goes down to the omega’s knees nearly, but it’s got to be warm and it’s clean and it satisfies that little possessive rumbling inside him, seeing him in his clothes, smelling the way their scents mix. Peter’s is just so soft and sweet — like warm vanilla, with a hint of something that might be strawberries, maybe his shampoo, and something else distinctly omega and Peter that calls to him, though he wouldn’t dream of doing anything about it while Peter is asleep.

He washes his hands and makes quick work of cleaning up most of his mess before returning to scoop the omega up. He’s suddenly extremely thankful for his foresight when he realizes he has a place to take him that isn’t his room, and that he’s actually going to get to put it to good use.

He carries Peter to the room he’d began setting up for him, depositing him on the bed and watching him for a moment. He’s just moving to tuck him in when there’s a quiet tap on the doorframe.

“How is he?” Rhodey asks, quietly, seeming to realize he’s not awake.

“He passed out before we could talk at all,” Tony admits. “So I have no idea what happened to him or how he’s feeling. But I cleaned him up and took care of his wounds. He’s not in any immediate danger.”

Rhodey nods. “I finished cleaning up the mess and blocked off the hole. It’s not gonna be good, of course, you’ll need it professionally fixed, but it’s not a gaping hole now.”

“Thanks, Rhodey.” Exhaustion suddenly slams into him, and he sighs, putting a hand to his head.

Rhodey senses it immediately. “I think it’s time for you to get some rest, man. I know you’re superhuman now and all, but you need sleep still.”

“I know. I just…” Hardly ever sleep. Hardly did in the first place. He does even less, now that his body actually requires less of it, but these past few days… well. Rhodey is right; the recoil effects of this are nothing to scoff at.

“I know.” He claps him on the shoulder. “I’m going down to my room for the night. I’ll see you in the morning.”

Tony just nods. He waits for him to disappear, the door closed behind him, before turning back to the bed. He reaches down to tuck Peter in, and is surprised when a hand closes around his wrist, stronger than he had expected.

He tries to pry his hand off as gently as he can, but the omega is having none of it, apparently, grip tightening to the point he can feel the finger-shaped bruises starting to form. A quick glance at his face is enough to confirm that Peter isn’t actually awake. He’s just instinctively seeking him, whether for his heat or by scent or maybe their bond.

It doesn’t really matter. Awake or not, if he wants him to stay, then he’s not going anywhere.

Getting into bed with Peter is probably his final mistake, but it feels too damn right to regret it.

At least until one of them wakes up screaming, and things begin to spiral again.

Alright, so I beat Metroid Dread, and I'm gonna put a bunch of spoilery thoughts underneath the readmore.

I liked it a ton tho can't wait to play it again at a harder difficulty and a faster time.

EMMIs

So the EMMIs? Kinda eh in the sequences. Observed from others though, I'm kinda "desensitized" to horror in video games. I do definitely like their animations and the music associated with them. By all means they should be a scary entity, but I think the trouble in making that "dread" for designated EMMI zones is just that, you know when you're gonna face them.

The zones are one big section that the EMMI never leaves, but also has access to tunnels and ports that you don't, so as you explore the map, you'll pop in and out of those EMMI zones and have some mini encounters before the final showdown.

These encounters are still good on their own, as you don't have a clear idea of where you're going, and you just kinda have to wing it with your decision making because that thing can hear you and better hope you don't turn down a dead end tunnel, it's just that again, you know when you're approaching them.

Perhaps I'm comparing it too hard with Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission's chase sequences. I like the ones in Fusion because while they were all very scripted and planned out encounters, it felt way more organic when you played it the first time. Just minding your business and getting through the map when suddenly you hear that ice beam go off and the tension just skyrockets.

Really, the dread felt in this game is knowing you HAVE to go through the EMMI zone and find a way through it to progress and hope you just don't get fucking Got by the EMMI for the 14th time in a row because the quick time event is so goddAMN FRAME PERFECT. I seriously only parried these motherfuckers like 6 times. Didn't even KNOW you could get a second chance to parry them if you failed the first.

While I kinda get it that this is to discourage bravery and trying to fuck with the things for laughs, a horror game becomes way less scary when the enemy can just instantly kill you, because after the 10th time you're not scared, just frustrated.

Now I DO acknowledge this as not doing the EMMI sections "properly", they're intended to be stealth sections with baiting and switching. And once you do that, you'll have a lot of fun dodging around the EMMI's detection. It's just annoying how frame perfect those parries are in the game when the final boss had SO much more forgiving parry windows.

Best advice for the EMMI sections is use your stealth cloak a lot. Like even to the point of draining health, you'll be surprised what you can get away with.

THE GAME MECHANICS

Enough about the EMMIs, I'll get into the more normal stuff you expect out of a Metroid game. It feels solid and the movement feels great. There was a little bit of a mastery to it in memorizing all the things you can do, but I got the hang of it.

This game has one of the most fun maps to traverse through. It's changing and shifting constantly. What I mean by that is that when you complete major goals in the game, such as killing bosses, it'll affect the map, and some places will be locked out, requiring a very late-game ability to get back to. In a way this kinda make it more linear, but I'm definitely curious on how speedrunners and gonna optimize routes to get everything when you need to have late game abilities to get items in the first zone you start out in.

Item pickups face a new but welcome change, missile expansions only give you 2 missles, and you need to find "Missle + Tanks" to get an additional 10. A similar thing for energy tanks: some are scattered like Heart Peices, and you need to collect 4 to make another E-tank. They're still a lot of pick ups to get, but because of this, your overall resources remain valuable, as you don't actually have a whole lot of health in this game.

Bosses will hit like a truck and punish you greatly if you don't learn their pattern fast. It was a bit frustrating to die so quickly, but in the least, the parry windows for these boss fights can be forgiving as well as looking absolutely amazing. This game completely lands the attitude Samus should have as a seasoned bounty hunter that's seen it all and then some.

I'm gonna leave another post for all the story details but I'll still share some of it here because it pertains to the game mechanics. So one of my favorite moments in this game is when you reach a small sector in the game. Like it's a very tiny zone, only 3 item pickups to get everything. But it unleashes a big change in the game.

So in the beginning when they advertised this game, every fan had absolute no trust in the Galactic Federation. They faked the video of the X parasite and they want Samus' DNA, so they set her up.

Close. We were all real close.

Something wants Samus' DNA, but it's not the Federation.

And the X are still alive.

When playing in that small zone, it's a quarantine zone. You make your way through, fighting clones of Chozo soldiers, who start act like The Thing when damaged enough. Upon leaving the zone, you see all those X globs leaving the area with you. They start to infect all the enemies in the game. It's just like the outbreak situation in Fusion, except on a planetwide-scale.

THAT is where I got to feel dread. And also the joy of seeing familiar mechanics of Metroid Fusion take place. All enemies you kill now will goopify as a death animation and release the X parasite blob. There's even micro enemies you can kill that leave micro-sized X that look even more familiar to the Gameboy version.

No longer do enemies drop the purple health blips and missile refills, its's all yellow, green (and rare red) X. And what's more, now all enemies are POWERED UP. The X mutate them into deadlier forms. What was an easy enemy is now 5 times more dangerous with a sudden difficulty curve. Coupled with the music of that underground jungle, it's a perfect mix of apprehension.

Bosses aren't spared either. Anything you fight from now on is an X parasite, which also includes bringing back the X-core fight mechanic.

It's good man, Metroid Dread is good and I'm gonna continue making posts for it cause I had such a fun experience with it in 2 days. I want to make faster runs on it and unlock all the other splash screens and endings like I did with Zero Mission.

Hi! So, I’ve been really discouraged lately about being aro. I actually kinda hate that I don’t feel romantic attraction to people, and everyone else makes romance sound so great, I just wish I was normal. But Since I can’t change it, I was just wondering, as a way to look on the bright side, if you could list some advantages or good things about being aro? Thanks!

Okay! There are a lot of similar posts out there, so I’m gonna end up repeating some of those (meaning you may of seen them before), but I’m going to try and have as many original points as I can! Without further ado;

The following is a[n incomplete!] list of the Good Parts of being aro:

You’re not straight! (Unless you are, but you’re not straight, ya feel?) I count that as a bonus :P imagine being Straight oh god

You’ve got that sweet sweet outsiders perspective! A neutral point of view! Relationship analysis (I’m thinking in fiction, because that’s the only time it’s ever come up for me but it could also apply to friends’ relationships) is a lot easier when the big Sentimental Thing is just... a non issue

Romance sounds Very Confusing, And Also Hard. Don’t gotta deal with that!

Unless you want to, of course, that’s a different story! But I feel like taking away the... big fuzzy anxiety would make is less Hard? As far as I can tell romantic attraction is like big fuzzy anxiety, which, I already have enough anxiety thank you very much, don’t need more

Oh! One less thing for Anxiety Brain to obsess over! If you have anxiety brain. I mean there’s still stuff, but anxiety brain will obsess over anything

Okay actually time is a big one. If you aren’t dating, or worrying about dating, or thinking about romance, which allo people seem to spend a lot of time on you just. Can do more fun things? Invest in hobbies! Draw! Learn a language! Practice whistling! When your friends are going speed dating at a bar, or something, work on that sweater you’ve been knitting! YOU HAVE SO MUCH TIME!

I’ve been so much happier with my relationships after I figured out I was aro. I’m not worried about whether I’m “in love” with my friends anymore, or if it’s going to ruin our relationship, and I’m generally just so much more secure in my platonic relationships. It’s so nice! I’m not worried about it anymore! (I hope you get to that point soon!)

Actually I feel like I appreciate my platonic relationships a lot more? Culturally, especially, friendships are devalued a lot (which is sad :( ) but I just.... love my friends....... os muchm,.......... AND for those bits of media that do appreciate their platonic relationships? Hoooo boy. Mine now.

OH my gosh I can’t believe I almost forgot this one, your future can be ANYTHING! And of course even if you’re allo your future can be whatever you want it to be, but amatonormativity is one hell of a drug and so many allo people do genuinely want to find someone and settle down and do the whole white picket fence thing. But!! Since you’ve figured out you’re aro, you can figure out your alternate reality! This was actually very exciting for me, I did NOT look forward to the get married have kids algorithm, but I, had, to want it??? Everyone wants it??? But NO! You could want ANYTHING! You could HAVE ANYTHING! Exciting!!! Three kids and a dog? Go for it! Live with your friends in a farming commune in the woods? Sounds fun! Living alone with your six cats? Kitties!! DREAM BIG!!

There’s a lot more, obviously, but these are the immediate one’s I could think of that definitely affect my everyday life. If you’ve got more, add ‘em!
