Stolen Hearts by Aria L. Deair
About the Author: Aria L. Deair is an author who has been writing and (while cursing her excessive comma usage) publishing fanfiction online for more than sixteen years. Freelance writer by day and author every other hour that she isn’t sleeping, she spends her days courting carpal tunnel and “forgetting” to wear her wrist brace.
As a proud member of more fandoms than she can count, Aria can be found blogging about some of the writing that she is avoiding doing at arialerendeair.tumblr.com.
Like a dragon with her hoard, she can be found in her New Hampshire apartment, surrounded by notebooks (most of which are empty), half-filled mugs of tea, and some of the comfiest blankets that have ever existed. Disturb her at your own risk, especially during NaNo Season.

Story Teaser:
“You ready?” Athos asked, pretending to sip the coffee.
D’art sighed and gave him a look. “You hired me for this. You should know that even with all my teasing, I am a professional.”
“So you are,” Athos agreed. “That’s why we’re planning to offer you a position on the team when we’re finished.”
D’art was quiet for a long moment as they stepped into the elevator and hit the button for the 39th floor. He could feel Athos studying him. Assessing his reaction to the offer, maybe. “You have a policy against dating people you work with?”
Athos blinked and sighed. “D’art—”
“Crimson,” Porthos’s voice hissed into the mic.
D’art froze, eyes widening. Over the comms, a crackle and the sound of the earpiece being shattered under a heel came. “Shit.”

I've been wanting to get back into learning languages. I know one person's methods and advice won't exactly work for everyone, but do you have suggestions on how to study and practice?
Alright! I'll preface this by saying that I am by no means an expert in language learning, but rather just very passionate about it. Sometimes people assume I'm some genius or something; I'm really not, it's just that if you do something a lot (I'm talking at least 10h a day) because you love it that much, it will eventually start looking like you're quite good.
I also think that, while linguistic geniuses certainly exist, you don't need to be one to learn even a very "difficult" language. Along your Internet journeys and Discord servers and so on you've almost certainly met someone who has said that they learned English just from using the Internet a lot. They're usually underselling themselves by pretending they didn't need to put in any effort, but even then; they're doing perfectly well for themselves just from chatting online about video games or what have you. This is also to say nothing of refugees who learned the language of their new country, even to the point of thereby receiving citizenship, whether they are "gifted" or not! Everyone struggles a bit, but we all get it done. With maybe a few tears.
Those are some long disclaimers, but I feel they're necessary because even if none of these "tips" work for you, it is imperative you remember that LOTE, while with its challenges, is not some unique cool-kids club where only future Teslas can hang out. When you inevitably run into challenges or even a brick wall, don't think it's uniquely a you problem, or see it as evidence that LOTE is not for you.
The best way to practice is to make friends. Where our ancestors learned languages on the Silk Road or by studying the hot new subject at the fancy school on the other side of the world, it would seem humans have mostly become fluent by hanging out. Yes, that sounds terrifying. You might indeed accidentally meet people who are quite rude about your lack of fluency. But join fandoms for international things that have a LOTE-dominated base, or make a new account on (insert-language-here) twitter, and so on. Make mutuals, reply to their stories, etc etc. Just how you'd make friends on English Tumblr. Do not join gaming servers, gamer-racism is internationally true.
I'll emphasise Twitter again because it's really good for practice in small bites and, failing understanding a tweet, there's always a translate button. Of course, you might pick up some bad grammar, and even incorrect spelling, but in a way that's part of the fun and will teach you how to sound more natural with others in casual contexts.
Make sure your studying is connected to things you like, if the language itself is not inherently enjoyable for you. Write your practice sentences or fake conversations about things you like, or study vocabulary related to your interests. It is far more fun to write a paragraph about why you love a certain movie than How To Order Food. It'll stick in your mind better.
Your journey is very unlikely to be a nice, organised, linear affair, and that's fine. Even if you're, say, like me and prefer to learn grammar, common phrases etc BEFORE jumping into the deep end, you'll probably do a bit of learning-as-you-go, and vice versa if you prefer to just study things as they appear. See language learning as a craft, or a tree being nurtured in various ways according to the elements, rather than a set of tasks. Don't forget to keep the humanities part in this subset of the humanities! LOTE is writing notes at a desk, is vocab lists on Quizlet, is random example sentences, but it's also having to Google something real quick mid-conversation, and learning things just by assimilation rather than ever bothering to check it means what you think it does. Just like when you learned your first!

hellooo i'm back with questions :) 1 + 4 + 11 + 15
hiiii Charlotte welcome back with questions and sorry again that Tumblr ate your ask (literally AS I was going to publish it, it just suddenly. didn't post. and also wasn't in drafts or inbox anymore. Poof!) So, questions! 1. What are 2-5 already published fiction books you think you want to read in 2023? Started to type Alecto the Ninth here before I reread the bolded piece oops. WELL beyondddd the much anticipated conclusion to the TLT series, I will first say, for the benefit of @thetrial, that I do intend to read The Brothers Karamazov next year, so that's one. Beyond that, with determination to work through a mix of books that were gifted to me and which I bought, I intend to read Autonomous by Annalee Newitz, The City and The City by China Miéville, Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel, and Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace!
4. Do you plan to read any genres you haven't read much before? Considering my recent enjoyment of Glass Onion and reminder of silly goofy detectives and mysteries (of the murder variety or others), I think I want to make a more concentrated effort to dive into the Mystery genre! I have read ACD Sherlock stories and Agatha Christie in the past, but it's been awhile and I always read much more Sci-fi and Fantasy as probably evidenced by most of my fiction book choices above. Taking recommendations btw! 11. How do you plan to keep track of your reading? E.g., goodreads, bullet journal, tumblr, etc. I technically have both a goodreads and a storygraph account but I periodically forget these exist or forget my login or simply don't think to update them or really learn and optimize my use of their whole set-up anyway. Every year I tell myself I'm going to use them more consistently and then? I don't. Maybe this year though. In addition to that, however, I actually keep a physical notebook for myself which I also sometimes forget to update. It's very cute and designed to look like the old issued to library check-out pads and I will reblog with a picture because last time I tried to add a picture is when Tumblr ate the ask. I usually write down title, author, page count, genre, if I remember to do so: when I started + when I finished, and then SOME THOUGHTS where I lower the pressure on myself to be coherent about my feelings/thoughts about the book. Yeah. 15. Any other reading you'll do in 2023 that you want to recommend to folks? Newspapers, substack, favorite blog, etc? Your blog ofc <333 But in the last year I read a couple articles I enjoyed on the digital magazine site BloodKnife (this is where Everyone is Beautiful and No One is Horny was published btw) and then I plan on keeping up with investigative reporter Robert Evans substack he made here after twitter started going down the drain.
2023 reading ask game!

Last time I check Malcom X isn’t talked about mic in school because he was a extremist (yeah yeah he change later on before his murder.)
Also do tumblr and Twitter forget that school lgives you the bare bones of a era in the span of 45 minutes classroom. So someone like MLK is much easier to teach to kids vs Malcom X.
And since you said a antisemtic group, Malcom learn who owned a lot of slave ships or something?
That first bit is basically what I said, that last one is totally off base.
Tired old complaint that's meant to be inflammatory and if I wanted to do a rebuttal I could point out the slavery in the Ottoman empire or even just the logical observation that everyone was involved and singling any one group out for special attention is a bad look. __________________
You want to know what NOI has against Jewish people, I'll let you know.
Short version is Wallace Fard Muhammad and his successor Elijah Muhammad are like a black L. Ron Hubbard.
Longer version is. (I'll trim unneeded/redundant bits and TL:DR)
In the beliefs of the Nation of Islam (NOI), Yakub was a black scientist who lived 6,600 years ago and began the creation of the white race/whites. He is said to have done this through a form of selective breeding which is referred to as "grafting", while he was living on the island of Patmos. The Nation of Islam's theology states that Yakub is the biblical Jacob.
Yakub is said to have been born in Mecca at a time when 30% of original black people were "dissatisfied". He was a member of the Meccan branch of the Tribe of Shabazz. Yakub acquired the nickname "big head", because of his unusually large head and his arrogance. At the age of six, he discovered the law of attraction and repulsion by playing with magnets made of steel.
This insight led to a plan to create new people. He "saw an unlike human being, made to attract others, who could, with the knowledge of tricks and lies, rule the original black man.” By the age of 18, he had exhausted all knowledge in the universities of Mecca. He then discovered that the original black man contained both a "black germ" and a "brown germ". With 59,999 followers, he went to an "isle in the Aegean Sea called Pelan", which Muhammad identifies with Patmos. Once there, he established a despotic regime and set about breeding out the black traits, killed all darker babies, and created a brown race after 200 years.
He died his followers finished his work and after 600 years the white man existed finally.
The new race traveled to Mecca where they caused so much trouble they were exiled to "West Asia (Europe), and stripped of everything but the language….Once there, they were roped in, to keep them out of Paradise….The soldiers patrolled the border armed with swords, to prevent the devils from crossing." For many centuries they lived a barbaric life, surviving naked in caves and eating raw meat, but eventually they were drawn out of the caves by Moses who "taught them to wear clothes". Moses tried to civilize them, but eventually gave up and blew up 300 of the most troublesome of them with dynamite.
(Dynamite thing kills me every time, but it's all nonsensical so why not)
"Whites" were defined as Europeans. Elijah Muhammad also asserted that some of the new white race "tried to graft themselves back into the black nation, but they had nothing to go by." As a result, they became gorillas. "A few were lucky enough to make a start, and got as far as what you call the gorilla. In fact, all of the monkey family are from this 2,000 year history of the white race in Europe."
Now to the nitty gritty basis of their Antisemitism
The name Yaqub (Yakub) is the Arabic variant of the name of the Biblical Patriarch known as Jacob in English language versions of the Bible, and as Yaqob in Biblical Hebrew. Fard Muhammad's Yakub has some parallels to the Biblical Jacob's role as the father of the tribes of Israel. The idea that Jews were an "artificial race" created by interbreeding and dependent on "tricks and lies" already existed in anti-Semitic theories of the time. The story of Yakub includes Jews as part of a wider artificially created "white" race. ___________________________________________
TL:DR; The biblical patriarch Jacob the son of Isaac who is the son of Abraham, who became the father of Joseph and the heads of the 12 Tribes of Israel is who their doctrine teaches created the white man in order to subjugate and rule over the black man.
So they blame the Jewish people for absolutely everything negative that's happened to black people for the last 6000 years.
So many others through history have tried to use them as a scapegoat, what's one more group right? ____________________________
one other bit too tack on for anyone that might wonder if they're really supposed to be the same person
In speeches by Malcolm X, Yakub is identified completely with Jacob. Referring to the story of Jacob wrestling with the angel, Malcolm X states that Elijah Muhammad told him that "Jacob was Yacub, and the angel that Jacob wrestled with wasn't God, it was the government of the day". This was because Yakub was seeking funds for his expedition to Patmos,
But ya, black L. Ron Hubbard _____________
One last bit
Last time I check Malcom X isn’t talked about mic in school because he was a extremist (yeah yeah he change later on before his murder.)
Sad you're not mentioning that all signs point to him being murdered on the orders of current NoI leader Louis Farrakhan.
-----------
Honestly I'm really just waiting for the fedora tipping atheist™ squad to start in on NoI, it'd be good for a laugh

Question about reposting to Twitter (sorry if it's silly): by reposting you just mean stuff you post here, right? You're not going to change course and only post there and not here?
I wish I could give advice otherwise, but I don't use Twitter (which is why I'm asking this in the first place) also hope you recovered well from being sick!
i've been good and healthy! thanks for the well wishes!
when it comes to this i prefer posting on tumblr massively, so don't worry about me moving and setting up there as a main platform or whatever! its comfy here! i like the base of lurkers i've cultivated.
tbh it is mostly a "i wanna post art on twitter because the fanbase is largely over there" kind of ego thing. at first, i assumed i would be posting in parallel, but.. honestly tweeting should be a spur of the moment thing for me, and i have no sense for maintaining side accounts and accounts for specific subjects in particular (this blog in and of itself is a miracle). also i feel watched if i'm out of my element. i don't think it's possible for me to suddenly switch my main hub of cell series posting unless i somehow gained a group of people to bounce off of on a daily basis. i can't use twitter just to post mindlessly like i do here, i like to be chatty instead. at least on tumblr i entertain myself. idk what the difference is. i can use my own personal account just fine weirdly enough, but side accounts never tend to work out and i forget they exist quickly.
basically all i've been wondering from anyone who may know or may be interested in seeing it... the methodology of crossposting my art to twitter when its been a while.. tbh all i draw these days are doodles and stuff that's only funny to me so the mental block is a little strong. it's like "eh... it's not worth the effort.."
initially i intended on mirroring my longer text posts too, like on fusetter or something, but eh... ehhh.... i'll just keep it on tumblr... it's the same thing isn't it. so i'm only concerned with my art right now
also i feel kinda dumb tagging most of the art whenever i post it. but i also don't have much reach on twitter yet, so posting art without tagging it and having people follow until i build something up feels pointless. but also back to the point feeling dumb, i don't mind being seen at all, but i don't want anyone to scroll and go "what's this guy doing here" and such... idk why but it's probably mental illness. i just don't like to stand out in a way that makes me look like i'm trying too hard. but idk how to appear effortless (<-see i overthink too much, there's probably nothing of the sort going on)
but i want to at least semi-cultivate a habit of crossposting stuff even if it's not all of it!! idk if that makes sense.
ironically i think there is very little audience on tumblr compared to twitter for the corner/niche i've accidentally occupied (i.e. being obsessed with the interlude+com+characters that barely exist for some reason especially since i don't post about the main game that much anymore). also just in general i feel like my way of thinking is too strange. i can't fathom that people keep coming back to check over here. thank yew🥺🩷 (<-he was shot out back for this)
every day i am perplexed why this blog has people keeping watch on it, i feel very humbled and happy about it but i also scratch my head a little bit. it's very fun even if confusing. i like the level of interaction i have. so i'm not gonna switch over...!!! don't worry!!!
at the very least i have every intention continuing to archive my art in the poipiku attached to the twitter account... the twitter account itself however, is at a standstill, i have no idea what to do with it, which is why i'm doing the last ditch "phone-a-follower" effort

So...I joined Tumblr back when Musk first purchased Twitter and everyone was worried that Twitter would cease to exist. I do not usually post on social media - I mostly just use it to keep up on the things that I follow (KPop / Oregon Ducks / Politics are the main topics). I like Tumblr because it has access to other things that I haven't found on Twitter - specifically the fanfiction (which I probably read way too much of). I like being able to search out an author whose story I appreciated on AO3 and find out more about what they have written, what they like, etc. I am also able to find new authors that I haven't read through other people's recommendations and check out what they have to offer. I also really like to scroll through the pictures. People are so talented on this site - it inspires me!
Anyway, I thought, since I apparently now have a blog, maybe I should use it? I don't expect anyone to read it or notice it, and that's fine, (It's all fine!) but maybe it will benefit me to get the stream of consciousness out of my head and onto virtual paper.
I wanted to add a section to each blog post - What is currently going on ( idea came from a Twitter account I follow):
What I am reading: Fanfiction - A Gilded Cage by BeautifulFiction and on Kindle - Murder at the Bookstore by Sue Minix. What I am wearing: purple sweater and blue jeans - casual Friday attire for work (the Twitter account I followed would use lipstick or perfume for that category, or maybe a designer shoe or something - but I don't wear makeup or have anything designer, so I am trying to make do!). What my plan is for the day - get through work, make ramen for dinner, nothing much else (nothing ever happens to me)
Future blog post (so I don't forget) - what does my blog name mean (I forgot!), hopes / dreams / plans / current events / thoughts to help work through what happens / etc.
Bye for now - see you soon!

Top 9 Newbie thoughts on Supernatural after Six Months of Madness
Tumblr media
I started watching Supernatural a week before the series finale, and full disclosure, it was only because I heard about the gay angel. I loved me some Good Omens, so I decided to check out a series my only previous thoughts about had been, "Is that show still on?" In the past six months, I've watched about fifty percent of the episodes scattered across all fifteen seasons. I've also spent time following the bonkers-in-the-best-way fandom on Tumblr, and here is what I have learned:
1) Everyone who loves Supernatural also hates Supernatural
No one is capable of praising this show without also trashing it. Supernatural is as awful as it is awesome. Watching Supernatural is like hate-fucking your nemesis against a wall; you're totally conflicted about it, but it's enormously pleasurable and you know you're going to do it over and over again. No one has a pure, untainted love for this show. They only have complicated emotions. This is because…
2) The fact that the show needs to be fixed is an essential part of its appeal
Strangely, if this show were better, it wouldn't be as popular. If you love a show that is perfect, you watch it once or twice or thrice, make a bunch of memes, and move on with your life two years later when you find something else to hyper-fixate on. If you love a show that's broken, you spend the rest of your life obsessed with fixing it. It's the crooked photo hanging on the wall that yearns to be straightened (because, you know, this show is bad at making things straight). It's the stray dog you know would be adoptable if you fattened it up and socialized it with your other dogs, and just like some people can't stop rescuing animals, Supernatural fans can't stop thinking about how to fix a show that isn't great, but could be with a flea bath and a trip to the groomers. Supernatural fans are not fans of the actual show, but of the show they imagine it could be, one that only exists in an alternate universe. They are in love with the Platonic ideal of Supernatural. That's also the reason why…
3) The fans understand the characters and themes better than 95% of the people who worked on the show
The people who watch Supernatural have thought about it way, way, way, more than anyone who produced it. I have read complex essays about what the color of people's clothing imply and how the state of the Impala reflects the state of Dean's mental health and other things I'm certain this show did not do intentionally. People can find depth in the shallowest aspects of this series. Any random fan could explain the complicated dynamics of the Winchester family and the overriding themes of the series better than most of the people who worked on it. That includes the LGBTQ stuff, which leads to the fact that…
4) The show is simultaneously too gay and not gay enough
On one end of the spectrum are fans who are offended you would dare to suggest one of the Winchesters might like kissing a boy and they'll shove you in a locker and duct tape your butt cheeks together for it. On the other end of the spectrum are fans who think it's odd that every episode doesn't end with two attractive men dry humping in a dark corner of the bunker library. No one is happy with the level of gayness on this show. It's always got too much "No Homo" or too much queer subtext, which is why I've concluded that…
5) The audience this show wanted is not the audience they got and they are resentful of it
The original pitch for this show targeted a male demographic who’s into toxic masculinity in a non-ironic way. It was about bros and beers and muscle cars and shotguns and hot chicks who will be killed to further the man's storyline. However, when making that show, they accidentally created a show that attracted female viewers who liked speculating about the queer subtext of each scene while looking at pretty men with traumatic backstories fight back their man tears. The show depends on the unintended audience segment to survive, but is bitter about it, which they remind you of time and time again by killing the female and non-white characters and toying with endless queer-baiting. It's like the writers got a plane to Rome, ended up in a gay nightclub in Amsterdam instead, and even though the canals and tulips make it a lovely city to visit, they wanted to go to Rome, damnit, and they'll never let you forget it! I also suspect that…
6) The people who made this show were at constant war with each other
This show has such a split personality. Sometimes it leans into the gay stuff and other times it makes fun of it outright. Sometimes they'll introduce an interesting side character that could make the show more diverse and then they'll slaughter that person for practically no reason. Sometimes they praise free will and other times they force people down pre-destined paths. The writers feel like a dysfunctional family stuck at Thanksgiving dinner endlessly squabbling with each other—who then had to write a TV show together over dessert. That's why it's such a weird hot mess. The show's unevenness makes me think that…
7) Some people's attachment to the show can only be explained by the fact that it imprinted on them when they were young
Some fans have mentioned they started watching Supernatural when they were kids. It's a pretty common experience to go back and watch things you loved when you were a kid and realize they were…not so good. Your memories of them are far better than the reality of them, but you cling to them anyway. The shows you watch when you're young imprint on you in a way you never forget. Supernatural fans are like a baby duck who looks up at a cat and assumes it’s their mother. Then that cat slices open their poor little hearts, leaving them wounded but not dead, forever be toyed with in agony. The only relief is that…
8) The fandom is batshit insane in the best way
I started following the Supernatural fandom on Tumblr in November of 2020 and OMG, it was AH-MAZE-ING. It was total insanity. I didn't understand half of what was going on, but it was more fun than a yard full of puppies doing zoomies. People were posting detailed PowerPoint presentations theorizing how the series would end, citing extensive physical evidence like the background in Misha's hotel room. People learned election results through Supernatural memes. Destiel went canon every other week. When the Spanish dub was released, Tumblr literally crashed! Obama's Twitter was following a Destiel account. There was a Twitter wedding for Destiel on Valentine's Day, which made the one-month anniversary on Pi Day.
It's been a ride, y'all. I have no idea how you guys survived fifteen years of this. The fandom has been so much fun that I actually sat down and watched more than 100 hours of this show so I could understand everything better. It's like the show is an extension of the fandom instead of vice versa. If anything sums up Supernatural for me, that's it. It's all about the fandom and the show is secondary to that. It's like the fans willed the show into existence as part of some partially botched spell. And part of that twisted spell is that…
9) The show will never die until someone finds its bones and burns them
This show has been off the air for more than six months now and it keeps trending on Tumblr consistently. Misha recently trended on Twitter simply because he was at the Oscars. That was it! He didn't even do anything there, he just attended, and some people figured it out by the reflection in a photo posted by someone else! And just as I was proofreading this post, Destiel started trending again because John Cena is a stan or something? This fandom is crazy and unpredictable and I love it like Dean loves pie! If there ever does come a time when this show stops trending, that will be the moment when they decide to reboot it or revisit it.
There is a lot more I could say about this show, but these were the elements that seemed most unique and bizarre about it. I wouldn't say Supernatural is a ride-or-die fandom for me, and I have no intention of watching another 100 hours of this series, but it's been hella' fun to drop in for a while. The show is just as much a dysfunctional mess as the Winchester family and I guess that's why people love it, right?

Tumblr media
Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted every Tuesday.
Interview with Tabula Rasa
Tabula Rasa has 8 stories at Gossamer, but there are even more X-Files fics at AO3 and her website. She writes Mulder and Scully in a very lovely way. I've recced 3 of my favorites of her fics here before: Bird in Snow, Fall: East on M St, and Skuamorph. Big thanks to Tabula Rasa for doing this interview.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
I'm always extremely pleasantly surprised to get kudos (or, very rarely, a comment) on my old fic, but I'm always happy to see it! I did post them all (I think) to AO3. I'm not surprised people are still reading fic, though. It's an iconic show and now with streaming, it's really easy to watch older shows and natural to want fic about them!
What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience? What did you take away from it?
XF was my first fandom, definitely my first online fandom, and so it will always have a special place in my heart. Also... I had a great time! I stumbled upon and joined the Scullyfic email list by accident, but it was the best thing I could have done. I learned a lot about how to be a writer and how to be in fandom, and those lessons are still important to me. Foundational. Also, in terms of modern fandom drama, XF was more low-key on the drama (although it didn't seem like it at the time!). But I learned something that's always served me well: find like-minded people, and hang out with them. Don't worry about the rest.
Also... you can't control the show, but you kind of can control the canon.
Because of Scully, I ended up taking a forensic anthropology class in university-- and now I have a Master's in a forensic science! Part of the Scully Effect, and proud of it!
Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?
Definitely mostly email list! I never really got the hang of message boards. Posting fic was exhausting, and tbh I never figured out how to work Ephemeral. I checked it every day, though! I loved, after a new episode, everyone sending in their thoughts and reading everyone's experiences together. Fandom was a lot more work back then, tbh!
What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?
That fic can be just as good, or better, than traditionally published works. There are works of XF fic that have stuck with me for years now, far more than some books I've read. That fan writers can know the characters better than the show writers. The fandom in general was really smart, and mostly more adult than me (I joined fandom when I went away to college, so I always felt at the younger end of the scale. That was good though!).
Also, my first time reading and writing porn. Not gonna lie, I was shocked the first time I accidentally read smut. But I adjusted fast. lol
What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?
I was still a kid (now we would say preteen) when the show premiered- I think in middle school. But I was already into ghosts, aliens, monsters, solving mysteries, and I'd already imprinted on the dynamic thanks to Square One (really)! I was also just old enough to start developing celebrity crushes. Hilariously, I did not twig to the fact that I'm bisexual the entire time I was in XF fandom, despite having enormous crushes on BOTH Mulder and Scully. Ahhhh!
Also, my whole family was into the show, but I was definitely the one with the hyperfixation. I used to take notes and record the episodes as I watched. It just had the right stuff and hit at the right time. And I've always been obsessive.
What got you involved with X-Files fanfic?
As a kid I also really liked Star Trek, and someone had given my dad a book about the history of Star Trek, which I read. This included mentions of fandom and fanfic. As soon as I had a private-- and perhaps more importantly fast-- internet connection (in college), I went looking for XF fanfic, and that was that. Hooked immediately. Also I shipped them A LOT so that's what I went looking for.
What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom?
I tend to not go back to a fandom once I have a new fandom, so I wouldn't say I'm in it. I did hang around the edges for the revival, of course, because I wanted to experience that with the same people, but since the revival was mostly not that great (with a few exceptions), I didn't get pulled back into it. But I still think of the people I knew in the fandom a lot, and always hope they're doing well.
Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?
I've never left fandom, and I've been in a BUNCH: Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Bandom, Supernatural, now CQL/The Untamed and other Chinese-media fandoms, with many smaller ones in between or on the side. I feel like at their core fandoms tend to be similar, although where you host the fandom makes a big difference: Livejournal, tumblr, twitter. I think that because fandoms now tend to be bigger and more diverse (which is good) there tends to be more wank (which is bad). In some of them I was close to a group of people, some of them not. Honestly the best thing is when someone you know from an old fandom is in your new fandom. It's so much fun. I have really good friends thanks to fandom, and I've had them for YEARS. Like. 15 years.
Who are some of your favorite fictional characters? Why?
I tend to focus more on ships than characters, but some of my all-time favs: Scully, Hermione, Sirius Black, Castiel, Lan Wangji, Xie Lian. That's just fandom-oriented ones, otherwise we'd be here all day. :D
Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully?
I don't often rewatch episodes any more, although if I come across an ep on tv I might. I definitely still think about them though! For example, I'm a teacher now, and just a couple weeks ago one of my colleagues mentioned he'd heard the students saying they shipped two of their classmates, and he was like "Ship? I don't get it" and I was like "HOO BOY, do I have a story for you!" And I explained how shipping came from XF fandom, and why. That was fun. I definitely still think about Mulder and Scully too-- I mean, they're cultural touchstones, so they do come up sometimes in greater pop culture. Also, I was in Hannibal fandom for a while, and Gillian Anderson is still The Best.
Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom?
I haven't read XF fic in years, even the ones I remember as being really significant/important to me. I still have my all-time favs saved on an external HD though! Fic in another fandom- every day lol.
Do you have any favorite X-Files fanfic stories or authors?
Blinded by White Light by DashaK has stuck with me. Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the Ruby-Throated Warbler by I forget I'm so sorry -- that's lasted as my ideal post-canon MSR and as an interesting and different way to tell a story.  [Lilydale note: It’s by rah.] I was always thrilled to see fic by Brandon, JET, MaybeAmanda, Syntax6... and, frankly, everyone on the Scullyfic/ Emuse list. So many talented people in that fandom!
What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?
Things Outside, which is the only thing I've ever written based on a dream, and I'm really satisfied with it. It was hard to write but so much fun to revel in the weirdness. I always kind of wanted to write more because I know a lot more about the situation, but otoh, I like the open, ambiguous ending (usually I am very HEA).
In other fandoms, King & Country in bandom (MCR) and in Supernatural I'm very proud of Hope and Clay. I struggle to write casefics even though I love to read them, but that one really worked out.
Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?
I don't think I'll ever write something new. There is an old fic that may be done but it was smut so I was too shy to post it at the time. In theory if I find it and it's decent, I could post it!
Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work?
I do! I write fic very slowly, but I do write still! I have a million ideas for stories, but I'm so slow at the actual writing part.
Where do you get ideas for stories?
I usually take a jumping-off point from canon, or of course, something I need to fix or expand on. Or sometimes I start telling myself a story as I fall asleep and the idea grabs me long enough I can manage to write it.
What's the story behind your pen name?
I was getting into fandom and realized people didn't use their real names. I flipped through my history book looking for inspiration, and decided tabula rasa was a great name for a writer. I tend to add an X because it's rare to get "tabularasa" as a username, and the X is indeed for X-Files (so I'm something like tabulaxrasa most places). I usually go by Tabula Rasa or Tab, though. And I still use it because 1) it IS a great name for a writer; and 2) it's not fandom-specific so I can keep it in every fandom.
I identify with it so much I have answered to this name in class (oops). I have a "Tab" t-shirt (as in the soda, but I have worn it to Comic-Con for ease of ID-- better than a nametag!). And my mom got me a necklace with a "tab" typewriter key as a charm, which I adore. Yes, I have accidental merch of myself.
Do your friends and family know about your fic and, if so, what have been their reactions?
As you can tell from the above, my family knows (my family being my parents and sister). They are supportive! I think my mom read a couple stories? But obviously she has to know the fandom to get it... I got my sister into fic, and we even wrote a couple fics together (in Gundam Wing). She's a lot more selective about fandoms, but she's joined fandoms on her own, too. She's just not in one constantly, like me. :p
I tend not to tell not-online friends unless I have felt them out and know they're super fannish, or they bring it up first.
Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?
Most of my old fic is now on AO3 and I hang out on twitter a lot, @tabula_x_rasa
Is there anything else you'd like to share with fans of X-Files fic?
I'm really glad people are still in this fandom! It will always be so important to me. Thank you Lilydale, for this nostalgia trip!

Updates on my Socials
Mainly Twitter, Instagram, and DeviantArt (and other sites, but these are my main ones I was formerly active on)
Since my confidence in being a creative has been waverin' and teeterin', I just decided to leave said socials entirely.
Coz for a very long time, I'm just now realizing how much energy social media can take out of me. Like... just scrolling through Twitter or posting art on Instagram has me feeling drained completely after.
And I realize why. Opening Twitter and checking my dA and IG was always the first thing I did when I wake up. Ritually. Like, before I even drank water. Right off the bat, I've already set myself up to have a fatigue kinda day, y'know?
And it just feels like lately I'm going through a social media hibernation period anyhow. And whenever I don't take that detox, I just plow forward and what I get in the end? Creative burnout, fatigue, and perfectionism. AKA, That's That Bullshit!!
I actually wanna take steps (finally lol) into putting myself first, and to make sure I don't distract myself with said sites ever again. I spent the whole day yesterday having my first 24 hours with Twitter and IG uninstalled (and Mario Kart Tour coz wow, I let that be a distraction attraction for me long enough) and I can already feel the difference of feeling well-rested.
On top of that, it just felt like I was sharing my art to the void. Imma keep it real. Lately, I've been getting the good-ol' "underappreciation" illusionary feelery in my headspace. And August 8th was when I had that mental snap and was like "Forget it. I'm done giving to places I feel incomplete in. Peace. ✌🏿". And it's not even that I physically see it – I just feel it. Like an energetic shift, yeah? And trying to live up to the whole "putting yourself out there" and "show the world your light" just felt very exhausting to me.
I plan to initiate a healthy habit of mine and just abandon my Twitter, IG, and DeviantArt altogether from posting artwork.
In terms of Twitter, that includes both my main/personal and my Obey Me! fandom Twitter (I'm still a fan and play the game, I just lost interest in putting my energy into posting art there). The leave was rather abrupt and decided at the turn of a dime, but I feel resolute with all this! I won't hesitate to move on and find something better for me as a creative. I want to go back to how things were for me in the past: before I allowed social media into my life. Where I had no socials to worry about, and just let my imagination and creativity and fun times run rampant. Because I realized my best times creatively was when I never used sites like Twitter (or even knew it existed). I had no interest in seeking outside validation. I shared what I would create, yes, but it would be out of passion and because I personally was proud and happy with what I created and KNEW my worth, and I had a desire to let the world know. But leading up to now, when I do this, it's out of seeking validation... and falling into that trap led me to forget to validate myself from within.
While I will stop sharing my art on those places, I won't entirely stop posting new art – OCs & fanart, both one-off pieces and bigger projects – on the internet.
From now on, my main focus of posting new artwork is on Artfol, Toyhouse, and here!
I feel a lot more comfortable posting on Artfol mostly, and Toyhouse I use an an OC archive. Here, while I do post art, I mostly use this site as an excuse to just ramble on about whatever. Here, not everything I post is artwork.
So yeah, I just wanted to type this all out! While I don't consider Tumblr as a site I'd actively use, you can still expect me to post here every now and then.
I want to post art to Artfol, Tumblr, and Toyhouse, to limit how many places I post at once, but to still have a voice in creative form. Somewhere. I just won't give my attention, energy, or focus to Twitter anymore. Or Instagram. Or DeviantArt.
This came out longer than expected,, but I just wanted to post this uodate here! See ya!

শুভ জন্মদিন, বরিশ!
Twenty-first of July. @thelilacdews
It's finally here! It's really here. Our birthday has officially commenced. Is this happening for real? I couldn't contain my excitement. Happy Birthday, Love!
We're officially 23. It feels weird. Didn't 22 was born yesterday? How did the year-end so fast? What's happening? I really became Hobi at this moment. Everything feels surreal. I'm celebrating my birthday with you for the fourth year. Our seventh year will be the most emotional one. I can't wait for that, forever friend.
Baby, where can I start? You've been an amazing friend, my twin, and my jigar-ka-tukda. I am not that religious, but I am genuinely thankful to God for sending you to me. It's a relief that I won't be alone on my birthday, and also that you're willing to celebrate. People these days don't celebrate occasions, and no wonder they're searching for happiness. Happiness does really exist in our lives in the simplest form. I'm truly glad and relieved that you're open to all the craziest ideas I have come up with.
Being stuck in the constant loop of tragedy, I don't have anything relatively new in my life, but you always bring something new to my life. One of the best things that happened in the last year is Jin Harem. I never thought we three will be a trio of chaos and enjoying every moment with Bangtan. I am typing this letter while listening to Mikrokosmos. I am crying. We aren't alone anymore. We share the sky, the sun, the moon, and the entire galaxy of stars. We have Bangtan in our lives. All thanks to them, our friendship has evolved this much. I want to send you pictures of the sky or anything that reminds us how we are connected with each other irrespective of the odds.
How many people in this world get to have a friend with whom they share their birthday, or even try to share the joy with them? I'm truly gifted in that sense. Thank you, Universe, for sending you to me.
Thanks to Ru, we found a new love for reading. All the nights that were spent reading fiction and crying over the stories are precious to me. Words are very comforting. The stories we read have shown us the ray of hope, sunshine, and light. We have so many stories to read, so many characters to learn about. There is a significant joy in discovering new things with you and Ru. Jin Harem is one blessing I deeply cherish.
The Instagram chat with you is filled with memes and reels of all sorts, the Twitter chats with you are filled with words of hope, and the Tumblr post is filled with the celebration of victories. Do you realize how vast our world is? Our world is brighter, bigger, and vast than the biggest galaxy existing in this universe. I revel in joy knowing our world will continue to grow in love.
Maybe we should do something like "Eight"? We are same-age friends. Do we need to make a series? Let's think about it sometime, yeah?
We promised each other that we will make 23 similarly to JK's 23. I am truly excited just by thinking of that. I genuinely hope our 23 turns out to be the best time of our life. We couldn't do much in 22 because of the pandemic. I hope the winter of Pandemic ends soon, and the spring of happiness blooms in our lives.
It's such an honor to have an unpaid therapist friend like you, who memorize every little thing about me, keeps me grounded, and made today my jolliest birthday ever.
Babe, for this year, I wish you wonderful opportunities flooding your door, a good heath, beautiful moments filled with joy, and 23 like JK. We’re gonna have a blast 23rd year on this planet. I promise I will be an even better friend and always stay by your side. I love you so much, darling.
I have another surprise planned for which you need to check Tumblr quite often. Don’t forget to check, eh? It is better if you turn on my notifications for today on Tumblr. I feel you will end up crying because of what I have planned, but that’s my mission, to make you cry in happiness. I love you so much that the only tears I want to see are tears of happiness. You’re my heart, Barish!
আর একটা বছর এসে গেলো,
বেড়ে যাবে আর একটা মোমবাতি,
কাল ও ছিলাম আজ ও আছি,
তোমার জন্মদিনের সাথী।
~শুভ জন্মদিন~
With love, Me.

(📌 post) welcome to my blog, here are some quick things to know + some FAQ answers! there is also a disclaimer at the end that i would appreciate you reading, especially to my trans followers.
- i keep general info in my blog bio (name, age, pronouns) so check there if you’d like to know those.
- i try to keep blog SFW, on the off chance something posted is NSFW i will tag it as such along with why (nudity, possible gore, etc.). again, the vast majority of this blog is still SFW.
- i try to tag all of my posts with relevant fandoms/topics, and all reblogged posts are tagged under #reblog.
- currently i don’t use tumblr too often outside of checking my (admittedly slow) dash a few times a day, checking notes, etc. consistent posting? queuing posts so followers can get a somewhat constant stream of content? don’t know her <3.
- that being said if i get a message i usually respond asap!
- speaking of which, messages and asks are usually always open. feel free to send something whenever it crosses your mind!
- i try to do an image description of all the finished artwork i post, but if i forget for whatever reason, please shoot me a message as a reminder and i’ll get right on it! i also don’t mind if someone adds a more descriptive version in a reblog.
FAQs
- What art program do you use?
currently i use an ipad pro (2nd gen, i believe) and procreate for all of my digital works. to achieve the pencil look in my work i use a custom brush that was bought within a watercolor pack by maxpack, but it’s also achievable with some tweaks to pre-existing procreate brushes!
- What are your current interests?
currently, most of this blog is dedicated to my dr. carmilla art alongside some mechanisms things. occasionally there will be some xenoblade series and ffxiv content, but that’s pretty rare since i just use my twitter for all that lol.
- Can I use your art as my icon?
yes you may, but please credit wherever you do!
- I want to talk to you more, am I allowed to chat with you?
absolutely, i love making friends with ppl online! shoot me a message on here, my discord (if we’re in servers together), my twitter, etc.
————————————————
An important disclaimer regarding past some beliefs that i want to be more open and transparent about
(content warnings for mentioning: pro-truscum, general lgbt discourse scene from 2017)
i currently identify in a way that younger me would’ve probably hated and made fun of internally, and yet i’ve never been happier and more accepting of myself.
when i was younger in my teen years (15-16 i’d say), i was a truscum, plain and simple. i thought you needed dysphoria to be trans, gender and pronouns are intertwined and should ‘match’, neopronouns were an embarrassment to the lgbt community... the whole nine yards.
i am deeply ashamed that i allowed myself to believe these things while considering myself to be a good person, even excusing it as ‘well, i have multiple trans friends irl that believe the same thing, so even if i am cis (at the time) at least i’m just following what trans people believe’. it was a terrible thing for me to do/believe in and i (along with those same trans friends) have since outgrown those ideas.
while i didn’t ever go out of my way to harass anyone in particular, i would like to say an apology to anyone who was impacted negatively by truscum in those days and even those who still are.
i want this blog to be a safe and welcoming place for all, and though i’ve tried to cleanse it of the views i no longer agree, i am worried some reblogs and comments might’ve slipped through the cracks (in no small part to me failing to tag things for years). just know that i currently believe nothing that i did back then, and if you happen to come across a post or comment of that nature, please let me know.

MDZS Modern AU Fic Tips (Living in China)
So I asked a while back if anyone was interested in some fic tips for writing Chinese modern AUs, and y’all seemed enthusiastic. But…when I tried putting it all in a single post it got…really…really long…
So I split them into a bunch of posts (Yes I copy-pasted this intro on all of them because I’m lazy)! Here are the links:
Names & Stuff
Modern Chinese Cultural Stuff
Superstitions & Beliefs
Festivals
Living in China (You are here)
Anyways, these are based off my experiences living in Singapore and China, and I hope these posts are helpful. On to it.
Living in China
Disclaimer: I mostly lived in Singapore during my existence, and thus I can’t give you extremely detailed info of what it’s like exactly, but I do visit my Chinese relatives fairly frequently, so these are general tips. Also, please keep in mind that the info here is biased towards life in Dalian & Harbin. I’ve been to Beijing but only twice so I don’t remember a lot.
The currency in China is RMB, or “yuan”. 100 RMB is about $14 USD, and not considered a lot of money
Side Note: The above tip is also another reason why you shouldn’t ever write A-Yuan’s name as just “Yuan”. It makes him look like the local currency djsasldkj
Coin values are (with comparison to US currency):
1 yuan (like a dollar)
5 jiao (Half-yuan - 50 cents)
1 jiao (1/10 yuan - 10 cents)
5 fen (0.05 yuan - 5 cents)
1 fen (0.01 -  basically a penny)
Also related to money, in more urban areas, people don’t really carry cash or even cards around anymore. Practically everything is paid electronically, through WeChat Pay and other cash/bank apps, typically using QR codes on phones. You’ll have a hard time as a foreigner if you don’t have any of those apps in these areas (AKA me when I forget to re-download them before heading to China)
The exceptions to this would be places where tourists and foreigners are very frequent, such as hotels, airports, tourist buildings, universities (though my cousin’s old uni recently went full electronic payment I think???) etc, and more rural areas
Some Chinese social media and stuff:
BaiDu 百度 - Basically Chinese Google. We also use it the way we use “google” as a verb, saying 百度一下 (bǎi dù yī xià) - “Let me BaiDu it”
WeChat - Very similar to Whatsapp in general, also used for money purposes with WeChat Pay
QQ Mail - The most frequently used email platform in China. QQ Mail also has an Instant Messenger last time I checked. Also, I think QQ still uses number-based IDs, so the address would look something like: ([email protected]). Hotmail is fairly common in China too, particularly with those who need have to send international emails
YouKu 优酷 - The most popular video hosting site (most similar to YouTube out of the many video sites)
bilibili 哔哩哔哩 (yes, small caps) - Another video site well-known for animations, games, and comics especially
TaoBao 淘宝 - Cosplayers would probably know this. Something like a Chinese Amazon or Lazada.
WeiBo 微博 - Main Chinese social media platform. Feels like a FaceBook + Twitter fusion
LOFTER - Feels like a Chinese Tumblr
Even in urban areas, it’s easy to find entire streets of literally nothing but restaurants by the main roads (+ maybe a stationary shop, salon, or something in a corner, and you can often drive right up to the front door and park right there (in more populated areas and/or near malls/attractions, there will likely be extra open parking space nearby such restaurant streets)
Some larger restaurants, especially those with seafood specialties, don’t have actual booklet menus. Instead they have a wide selection of fresh ingredients (wrapped up safely in layers saran wrap) such as vegetables, cuts of meat, and tanks of living fish/shellfish/crustaceans near the entrance. They tend to have a list of dishes you can order by the corresponding ingredients, or a server nearby to tell you and take your orders. Apparently this is more common in the North.
You don’t tip in restaurants in China. You COULD slip a particular server or two some cash if you wanted to, but as an overall system tipping does not exist and also it’s not “one server one table”. It’s “whoever’s available to serve you IN THAT MOMENT will serve you” so you’ll likely see at least three different servers throughout your meal. Please. Stop with the “Hi I’ll be your server today” in China-set fics. It’s SOOOOO WEIRD.
I’ve never studied in China, but I checked this guide with my Chinese cousin and it’s pretty accurate about the educational system there
Speaking of schools, you wear uniforms up to Upper Secondary (some to Post-Secondary). As typical gender-conformity strikes again, girls will wear skirts and boys will wear pants. The exception is during the colder months, in which everyone will basically just wear full body tracksuits (school-issued) to school and it’s their uniform for the whole day. This is particularly common in schools with low or no heating systems, especially in more rural areas
Drivers sit on the left side of their vehicle in China. Typically, any foreign cars (such as from Hong Kong - which would have the driver on the right) will need a mainland license plate. (This might be changing in recent times though.)
I don’t know much about the healthcare systems in China anymore, I was hospitalized once at 3 or 4 and don’t remember much, but in general basic healthcare from public hospitals is low-cost to free (depending on the region) for Chinese citizens with their basic insurance plans (individual and employee provided). You get charged (more) for hospitalization and more serious treatments like surgeries, physical/mental therapy, vaccinations (this is a pro-vax blog btw, just saying), and maybe dental. Most of these can be covered by insurance too though. If you go to a private hospital, it’s considerably more expensive of course.
Okay that’s all the info I can think of to be potentially useful in fics lol.

just a heads up, according to shinigami eyes the post about nigeria's 'baby factories' was shared by terfs
I received this ask a few weeks ago and initially ignored it, but I have no idea whether this was sent to me by a passing anon or by a friend/mutual who genuinely wanted to give me a heads up because they have the Shinigami Eyes extension and I don’t. In this case, I’ve received asks like that before and then deleted the post in question because I felt that was the morally correct thing to do. In this case, I want to acknowledge your heads up and would like to give you my current stance on it.
There are obvious parts of TERF rhetorics I disagree with (i.e. that trans women aren’t women). There might be some parts where we might have an overlap (i.e. that cis women face a different kind of discrimination and obstacles that trans women don’t, and vice versa). There are, still, undoubtedly specific topics that we will agree on in the framework of feminism.
One of those topics is the referenced article about Nigeria’s baby factories. While TERFs and I certainly have different takes on what feminism is to us, we will agree on men exploiting women’s bodies for profit is a horrible crime and needs to be eradicated, and TERFS and I both are likely to share information on it. I would likely reblog it again if it crossed my dash, now in the full knowledge that TERFs have shared it too, because I agree with the points that the article made.
So ... that’s it specifically. I feel that the perceived problem in general is that people who don’t identify as TERFS (un)knowingly share stuff that TERFs like and that’s why the Shinigami Eyes extension exists in the first place, to warn us To Not Cross this line, to keep our politics nice and clean and completely separate, so we won’t sully ourselves with anything that the TERFs touched.
The thing is, this “line” doesn’t exist in the eyes of the outer world, mostly doesn’t in the eyes of the people who aren’t neckdeep in Twitter/Tumblr feminism discourse. To them, we’re all feminists, maaaybe of different flavours. And we might feel very strongly about that because we don’t want to be in the same boat, don’t even want to touch elbows, but it won’t change the fact that we have several overlaps in our politics. After all, we all have our roots in very specific main goals of modern feminism. And that’s not likely to change.
2021 ‘enlightened” feminism isn’t feminism that 100% revolves around trans issues only that TERFS and us would typically clash over, it still deals with general women’s issues that are thousands of years old and won’t belong to the past even though we want them to. Therefore, we will have argumentative overlap sometimes. And it’s useless to argue that and even more useless to distance ourselves from that just because we don’t want to agree with TERFs on stuff.
That’s a mindset that has a strong grip on the Internet - not ever to associate with people we disagree with or maybe even personally hate. It’s the root of all this “drop your identity, pronouns, ethnicity, age, sexuality/gender, politics info in your bio” crap. Forget for a moment about how dangerous this is, it’s also what enables this type of discussion. Because if you already have all of that information, you can go ahead and avoid someone or disagree with them on everything out of principle because you perceive them as Other. It doesn’t matter what is said, only who said it. And that doesn’t work on reblogs unless you check every single user’s bio or use the Shinigami Eyes extension. You’re forced to read the argument and (dis)agree before you know about supporters of the argument, and you have to take it at face value.
This is very unusual for, say, face-to-face communication. For written discussions and arguments, for reblogged posts, it really ... isn’t. It’s pretty normal even, to value the argument made over the person who made it.
Yeah, I’ll admit it, I’m not completely free of personal bias. I know that a person’s identity can and will frame their take on everything, that context matters and informs, and that will decide over whether I’ll wholeheatedly applaud someone’s argument or begrudgingly agree with them. For a single argument on a specific topic though, it’s rather unlikely that me learning about their identity or politics will completely upend whether I agreed or disagreed with them in the first place. That’s because in the context of a discussion, I care more about the points made than the people who made them. Some of my friends have a few terrible positions while “the worst person you know just made a great point”.
I could probably make a separate post about how dangerous it is to avoid entire topics because ew, the worst person ever touched it before (see the whole queer discourse), but it’s late and I don’t want to. I also don’t want to methodically check people’s URLs in fear of accidentally agreeing with them on something, because this is my personal blog and not my official campaign for congress, where someone paid for it would do that for me anyway. I’ve made my point why I don’t ideologically see any point in that and therefore won’t get the Shinigami Eyes extension either.

Tag/Ask Game
This is a sort of Check-in Tag game thing? I was tagged by @vikingstrash, so thank you dear!
1. Why did you choose your url?
I used to have a different tumblr, and then my sister saw me on it and literally took the mouse and made me follow her own tumblr, and it made me So Immensely uncomfortable, I immediately went and made a whole new blog, and messaged all my mutuals privately to tell them I was moving so my sister wouldn't find out. As I struggled to come up with something more creative than 'time-lady," I remembered one of my mom's favorite sayings, "Reality sucks, live in fiction" and since livinginfiction was taken, my friend (who was helping with the crisis) and I added an 's.' Voila. Seven years later, it's the only username i have online. XD
2. Any side blog?
Three, actually. We've got @merthurismycrack where I reblog Merthur shit, @samspsychicpowers for some SPN stuff, and the side blog that's basically my main blog at this point: @asterekmess which is where all my Teen Wolf and Sterek stuff goes.
3. How long have you been on tumblr?
Uhhh, I've been on this blog since August of 2014, but my old blog was started in....March 2013. I've been around a fucking while.
4. Do you have a queue tag?
HA. Fuck no. Do I look that organized? Y'all get three hours of spam reblogs, and then I disappear into the aether. How it should be. XD
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?
This is essentially the same as I said for question one. Sister found the old blog, and I needed a new one. I tend to make my side blogs for more pointed material, so that my main blog can have like...the amalgamation of general stuff i like, and then I can keep the fandomy content more concentrated into the side blogs.
6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?
Originally, I did not have this icon. I had this pic I found online with these Beautiful bronze wings against a black background. But then, around the time I decided I wanted to sort of...simplify things and make my username for my online stuff all the same, with all the same pfp's so that I was easily recognized, etc, I realized that....that picture was not mine. I didn't design it or anything. And i couldn't find its source to ask for permission to use it. And it started making me feel shitty for using it in the first place. So I spent like an hour and a half trying to make my Own Wing pic to use, and failed miserably. As a last ditch effort, i went through my 'artistic' photos on my phone and found this one. I adore sky pics, and cloud pics, etc, so it was super my thing, and I just slapped it on there. Still not sick of it. XD I also went to my side blogs and changed out the pfp's for photos that I'd taken, except the sterek blog, because that one is literally just a black triskelion on a white background, and it's a pretty non-specific thing. I would have used a picture of my Own Tattoo, but it's very hard to get a picture of my back that doesn't have weird lighting, and I'm just too lazy.
7. Why did you choose your header?
All my headers are also photos that I've taken or art pieces that I've made. In the case of this blog, it's a picture I made with a 'galaxy maker' online thingy. I love green. I love blue. Ta dah. In general i just try to find something that gives me the right vibes or has the right color palette to match what it's for. (orange and blue for sterek, trees for merlin, and wings for spn)
8. What’s your post with the most notes?
On this blog? I.....just spent two hours digging through all my posts tagged 'personal' bc i wanted the post that I MADE with the most notes...and i have no idea. I mostly respond to other posts, rather than making my own. The highest note count i can find is a post i made abt having friends that aren't in your fandom, which means you can use inspirational quotes to help them through tough times without them realizing ur quoting doctor who or something. 22 notes. *fingerguns* I'm famous, i know.
9. How many mutuals do you have ?
Is...is that a thing i can check?? or do you expect me to hand count??
10. How many followers do you have right now?
Uhghhghghgh, this blog has 439 at the moment, and i'm pretty sure not a lot of those are porn bots, bc i usually screen new followers for it. a lot of them have come over from my sterek blog though.
11. How many people do you follow?
hehe....uh...36.....one of which is my husband....
12. Have you ever made a shitpost?
I don't even know what the requirements for something being a 'shitpost' are....but i think no?
EDIT: I Take it Back, I just found a post I made with "Hot Take: PIneapples are an honorary citrus fruit" and I believe that counts? So YES.
13. How often do you use tumblr?
Uh, nearly every day, multiple times a day. Sometimes i forget it exists for a couple days, though. It's my only social media. I dont use twitter or facebook or instagram. I Have Accounts, but I literally dont open those apps more than once a month.
14. Did you have a fight /argument with another  blog ? Who won?
My sterek blog gets in fights more often than it should. XD I'm feisty. And I dunno who wins, i think no one. it's tumblr. there's no real winning or losing.
15. How do feel about “ you need to reblog  this” post?
Oh 90% of the time I'll fucking ignore it on principle. I come to tumblr to enjoy myself and escape. I refuse to guilt the shit out of myself and my followers for not reblogging something deemed Essential. I don't care how deep the topic is or how heavy. Sometimes that's WHY I'm not reblogging it, because I don't want that shit on my blog. The other 10% of the time, I'll go to most recent reblog that Doesn't have the guilty shit on it, and then reblog that.
16. Do you like tag games?
It sounds narcissistic, but I like being tagged in them and doing them. I just Really Really Really hate tagging anyone else.
17. Do you like ask games?
Yup, I think they're fun, though I really don't think anyone wants to know this much about me.
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
Uhhh...I have no clue. I think...I think I might be the tumblr famous mutual, or at least my sterek blog is....
19. Do you have a crush on a mutual?
Yup. My husband.
20. Tagged?
Uh, no one. makes me anxious. XD If someone wants to do it, go ahead and claim i tagged you, i promise no one'll call ur bluff.
