I won't say much, of course, but it was a game with heft. Love me a hefty game.

FOUR OR FIVE TIMES FOR REASONS#AND WHYYYYY COULDNT I USE AN ESCAPE TALISMAN THERE????#i beat the neclord months ago t-t#i dont mind the random encounters and stuff as a concept but when ur at the end game just tryna finish up some odds and ends.#they are so. frustrating#i think the frequency of them is the problem#esp since suikoden isnt a grindy game like it is so easy to level up characters super fast#which i love love loveeeee i love that ur actaully kind of able to play around with using a variety of ur. 100+ characters#but then its like. why so many random fights theyre just wasting my time#hoping suikoden 2 is a lil better in that regard but we shall see#reeeaally really hyped for suikoden 2!!#spoilers for a 30 yo old game lmao

i. get the vibe that the more mainstream zelda fans are allergic to the idea of liking characters who like. do bad things

RIGHT?!?!
I mean, yeah, the Megas also have their takes on Skullman's theme ("Cracked Skulls"; inspired by MM4) and Chill Penguin's theme ("Chill XMas"; inspired by MMX), and I guess there's also one based on Storm Eagle's theme ("Rougmer Storm"; MMX), but I haven't listened to that one yet.
Like, I get that they have a good story arc to cover the first 3 classic games, but it would be so cool if they explored some of the themes of the following games, y'know? Or flesh out the MMX or other series music! Or hell, pick and choose some Robot Masters and make a new narrative, or like literally anything, please, people are starving over here! And it's not like they aren't still active. Don't get me wrong, I love their Castlevania stuff under the Belmonts label, but it would be nice to get Mega Man content outside of just remixes/remasters of their existing songs. Plus, they're still doing concerts, so like the audience is there for it!
And as for the Protomen, I hope that they actually end up releasing Act III at some point. Having listened to The Fight, it makes me crave it to an unhealthy degree. I love the grimdark kinda take on Mega Man that focuses more on the role that humanity takes in all of the conflict. I feel like that angle gets extremely neglected in Mega Man media.
Idk, as a fan, it's just kinda frustrating how neglected mega man gets. Like, it feels like the rare times whenever we do get content, it focuses on the first three or four games (if we're lucky), and then it just dies off! Or goes dormant for a decade or more. The franchise has so much creative potential that just isn't realized and it's so sad!
#hoping praying everyday for more#oh god and like just how foundational both bands have been for the creative efforts for the classic series#the archie comic even references The Megas a few times!! 'indefinite hiatus'? bro we know the sonic stuff brought MM down with it just say 'dead'#let IDW take up the license and get Ian Flynn to come back. i know we likely wont get ArchieOCs like Tempo back but like#idk.... it hurts bc i know how good of a job the archie comics were. its hard to imagine a reboot that isnt basically identical in story to#archie. esp bc how much love was put into tying in with the side content like the hand held games. but surely something could be done#somehow it could be continued. find some kind of Genesis Wave-esque mcguffin to change the OCs out. retcon the sonic stuff out completely#i really dont want to see MM1—MM3 needing to be revisited *again*. its like a Dr.Wily/Sigma in their own right for how much it comes back#like thats prob what kills a lot of creative endeavors tbh. the themes and events are so foundational that theyre nigh inescapable#I'm just.... tired..#i have so much love for mega man and so many chains holding that love down

hmmm. i don't really imagine Boe with any kind of weapon beyond a Scythe, so that's a hard one to tackle, unless we're including scrapped TF2 weapons. and Budd is a hell pooch, he'd eat anything you'd put in his mouth.
now if we're talking like... Boe's playing TF2? i guess he'd like using the Loose Cannon, since i imagine he'd like to use a gun that takes some thought and timing into account, even if it's technically weaker than stock. i think he would've enjoyed the old sandman back when it use to stun players. absolutely not projecting my own preference onto him or anything. Budd would eat the mouse. and the keyboard. atleast if left unsupervised.
#ask#anon#and by the old sandman i mean the one that allowed you to move around while stunned. not the original where you'd stop in your tracks#or i mean it still did the latter if you got a moon shot but. point still stands#the whole point to the sandman was to allow the Scout to get close to an enemy without the risk of taking damage#plus it also denied snipers from using their weapons for a little bit#plus as the enemy you could dodge it to avoid being stunned#plus... by the time the Scout got close after stunning you. you'd be out of the stunned state#or atleast at the bare maximum you'd be stunned for a second by the time he reaches you#though idk. i also feel the Dead Ringer is perfect in the way it does what it does#Spies want to be on the battlefield more. so they have a chance to trick the enemy into thinking they died. allowing them to escape#im not saying it's current version is perfect but. the bare basics ARE perfect#i.e. the spy gets shot -> ''dies'' -> allows him to live longer#and im speaking from a game design and execution standpoint#you want to trick the enemy into thinking you died so you have another chance at something? thats it!!! perfectly!!!#i dont think it needed the resistances or a lot of the buffs to feigning death#if anything i feel like you'd want to make the Spy vulnerable to all damage. and i guess to make up for it. keeping the speed boost#but simply. im just some guy on tumblr.#anyway yeah i dont know what else Boe would want to use! esp since he's both me and not me at the same time#hard to truely say!#thank you for the ask :)

the typical way to respond to a harmless prank is to feign some level of upset because to be pranked is to be the butt of the joke. it is saying "you got me, I Have Been Had." a smirk and a "you son of a bitch," and the prankster gets to feel proud for pulling that off. good pranks make both parties have fun w it, but whats good for some is just annoying to others. repeated pranks become in jokes where the pranked isn't necessarily tricked but playing along to be nostalgic for the time they were w their friend. its a bit of a script, esp with The Game which expects a particular punchline, and ppl are absolutely assholes for being dicks if u dont know, get, or care about the gag theyre trying to get u to participate in. it'd be like trying to talk about Updog and then getting mad cause the target Will Not Say "What Is Up Dog?" and it means They Also Are Not Doing It "Right". the prank isnt inherently shitty but being a dick when u dont get the reaction you Want is.
and it is Very common, esp among kids, for harmless pranks to crossover to "this person is just being an obnoxious ass and blaming u for not celebrating it." doing that is bullying.
I agree with this for the most part, but I will say that I don't actually think The Game qualifies as a prank? like, you've been "tricked" into performing an imperceptible non-action ("haha! I've tricked you into perceiving me saying The Game out loud, or writing it somewhere! gotcha!"), and the closest thing to a tangible effect "losing The Game" has is the social script that comes with it. it doesn't naturally or logically follow from "the rules" that losing The Game is a negative experience, you're just socially expected to act as though it is.
