batgirl 2000 reread bcs I'm crazyy...IM NUTS!!!

her and that damned rose..what does it all MEAN!!! it makes a reappearance l8r...also I missed this dynamic so so bad. me when I'm in a seeing my kids as an extension of myself competition and my opponent is Bruce Wayne

I always forget how fucking potent and tension filled the first arc of this comic is man. it's like, bcs cass can't speak or even have thought bubbles everything's communicated via her actions or the words of the ppl around her. every panel she's in has to be chock-full of emotion and every time she interacted with someone the implications and the ffUCKKKKK‼️

the atmosphere in this damn comic man

I dunno man not to "back in my day!" when it wasn't even my day. but comics these days don't trust the audience even a little. there's always gotta be paragraphs of text having a character explicitly state every detail of their motivation and like not that old comics didn't also do that but at least the words they wrote were pretty like fuck man who are they hiring to write this shit anymorw

this transition is straight out of a movie. I know we say this with literally everything but if ANY comic in the world should get an animated show it has to be this one. top contender. it's formulated like one already, it's episodic w perfect overall themes and bigger plots. even the vibe is perfect, the grainy mtv cartoon thing it has going. every day I pray for a batgirl 2000 cartoon it'd go so crazy jsut adapt the shit straight

batgirl 2000 just keeps hitting you and doesn't let up bcs in the same episode SORRY issue..where cass meets lady Shiva for the first time is also the same issue where babs first begins to address her as Cassandra

^^WHICH IS CRAZY bcs we have to keep in mind that up to this point cass is nameless, she's only been referred to as batgirl. this is one of the first times she goes out as not batgirl too tho, bcs Bruce benched her. it's GAHHHHH that whole thing where vigilantes angst and drama abt titles and legacies and their individual identities is exacerbated so so bad for cass bcs batgirl is the first name she's ever given. like it's all she ever knew and ever was. THIS PANEL RUGHT HERE ohhh my god it makes me crazy. she's only batgirl. she doesn't even have the words to explain it yet. she's only a reflection of the city she's sworn to protect its all she is and at first its lowkey all Bruce let's her be. not to mention. her relationship w babs, I'll speak on them l8r can't do it now I'll explode

a 1:1 animated series man. it's all I can think about so so many iconic moments. I don't kill but I don't lose either is already as cold as cold gets. the way the comic is formatted already fully visualizes as animated in my brain and it's so so fun to watch

both cass and Bruce hit the bullseye like....

Cass's perfectionism is such an underrated character trait of hers (in like the greater batfam fandom and more modern comics not here, never here) bcs she literally sacrifices her life about it. she's so self detrimental about how not perfect she is anymore and Bruce's nonsense doesn't help either. man sees himself reflected in a teenage girl once and looses all his damn sense. I'm just, yea we know "mediocre for a life time or perfect for a year" < god that goes hard, but the true tragedy that is cass's inability to see how unnatural and upsetting it is that her mind works the way it does at all, that she can run into bullets head on but complains that she could do it with more skill when she was 6 or whatever like girl...never evr letting myself become desensitized to her trauma, David cain when I get you...

AND ANOTHER THING AND ANOTHER THING!!! KKKKKKKKK!! the sideplots and b plots and background characters in this comic..each of them are offered so much empathy by the narrative and are written purposefully to reflect or foil whatever cass's current conflic is all while feeling like fully fleshed characters even if they only appear for one issue

THFUCKINH THE ROSE!!AGAIN!!! so sure this is old news but my running theory is that it definitely ties into cass's sense of self and identity outside of her living weapon status. this whole issue is prime babs v. bruce custody battle material bcs babs wants cass to be able to have a normal life, to be someone outside of batgirl bcs where she is now isn't healthy even a little bit but bruce argues that cass doesn’t need that, all she needs is her devotion to the mission < now we don't have time to unpack all that but in this moment we see her make the choice, dropping the rose. in the very first panel of the whole comic cass does the very same thing, she drops the puzzle (representing her childhood) in favor of violence bcs at the time its all she knows THE PARALLELS HELP HELP MEEE

AND AND THIS NEXT WHOLE PANEL is so evocative of the first few issues where cass couldnt yet put her emotions into words. just atmosphere and silence. BECAUSE she's confused!!! bruce says justice is what she needs that it will make her feel better, feel normal but it doesn't!! she looks over the city and still feels..feeling!!!! she picks the rose back up and extends a hand out to barbara bcs she was right, she not Bruce, she can't sit in a cave all alone all day and feel better (<which arguably doesn't even work for him either)

in the next few issues she meets steph and tim which is soo fun bcs letting cass have friends her age opens up so much for potential dynamics. especially her relationship w steph, not just in a stephcass way but in a narrative foil way, to me at least

next post I'll probably talk abt cass's guilt, self hatred, and need for atonement but we move‼️

Hi!!! I have some spare Cater thoughts in my head, so allow me to share them. :D

✧ camboy cater who originally started camming just because it was so popular and he wanted to see how far it could take him. he's surprisingly popular and even managed to trend a few times on the site he streams on. so far he's only done solo streams, but he's been watching you for a while, and he's nearing a major viewership goal. maybe he should give his watchers a little surprise. <3 viewers are a shocked when cater films with someone else. they can't see his or your face, but you're struggling sluggishly in your bindings and groaning about how it hurts. you've been drugged...or have you? it's all role-play, isn't it? right???

✧ sk cater who really wants to be famous so desperately, but nothing's working no matter what he does or how hard he tries!!!! so maybe he documents all of his kills. maybe he live-streams them. or maybe he live-tweets about it!!!!! he has this really obscure secretive account and it feels so dismal and bleak just from a quick scroll through past posts. it's an account where he can actually be true to himself, where he can vent, where he can complain, where he doesn't have to be so cheerful 24/7. he's spiraling, but even on this vent account the few followers he has think nothing is inherently wrong. he's just some person on the internet feeling things. everyone has dreary days; maybe cataloguing them here is his way of coping. but he gets a sudden spike in followers after he posts an update that will forever change the trajectory of his online life: so not cool that the human body has so much blood. :/ ngl it's gonna take forever to get rid of the stain. and then there's a grainy photo attached of a carpet so soaked through with blood it's practically drenched. cater didn't think he'd gain any followers from a simple post complaining about something so...boring. but then he realizes something. people like thrills. people like horror. people can't turn away from a car crash even if they want to because, at the end of the day, we are all creatures drawn in by destruction. and so he gets an idea: wouldn't it be fun if his followers could use the cute, little poll feature on his social media to determine a person's fate? :)

✧ cater who works a summer job at a harbor and falls for the cute mer who often gets tangled in the fishing nets near the shore. he's saved you too many times from netting. at this point, your meet-cutes are more recurring than they are rare. he thinks you're super cute and he takes a lot of pictures for his magicam, but at some point simple admiration becomes more of a terrible attachment when he starts to look forward to seeing you every day he works his not-so-cute or exciting summer job. when he learns you'll be leaving soon for your species' spawning season, he realizes he might never see you again. and he can't let you go; you're the only one who truly understands him! so the next time you find yourself tangled in nets, cater doesn't cut you free. instead, he hoists you over his shoulder, ignoring your frantic protests, and brings you home. you'll live in his bathtub until he can think of a better place to put you. and if you're so worried about spawning season, he can help you out. after all, you can always rely on cay cay! <3

✧ stalker cater who is driving you near insanity. you don't know anything about him or his unique magic, but you're certain you've seen double or triple or quadruple copies of him???? he's everywhere and nowhere. sometimes it feels like his eyes are always pinned on you no matter where you go. and he always knows where you are, where you're going, what you'll be doing. the breaking point is when you try to report it, but officer deuce spade insists that there is no such thing as "a dozen creepy, look-alike men" stalking you. this town is completely safe! he's made sure of it! you're prone to trusting deuce because he means well and has always been so sweet to you. he eases all of your fears and worries when he offers to guard your property for a day or two just in case. after you've left the station, deuce feels so bad. it's wrong to do this. it's corrupt. an abuse of power. but cater is his friend... but you're also his friend... oh, he's in such a bind!

Bunny: kokichi is half-awake and being lazily fucked so he only realizes when he feels a leg wiggle against his lips IF ONLY THERE WAS BOOKS ON HUMAN CARE he's Struggling i jusg think. kokichi being suspended above the forest floor, strange smooth vines stuffed in every hole large enough, dizzily wondering what theyre pumping into him he's having a very blissed out time kokichi accidentally cuts his hand after gripping onto shuuichi's antlers and shuuichi is HORRIFIED he's pretty sure kokichi is Actually Dying

Apollo: He's never seen blood and Kokichi is currently too blissed out to notice that he's bleeding

Bunny: IN HIS EXPERIENCE HUMANS ARE FUCKEASY TO KILL OK HE JUST DROPS THE GROUND OUT FROM UNDER EM A LITTLE AND THEY EXPLODE he should probably have a much more intimate knowledge of death than this being a forest god but. it's funny

Apollo: Okay but Kokichi accidentally gags when his mouth is being fucked and Shuichi freaks out at that because does that mean he did something bad???? Kokichi seemed to like it though??? He's hopeless at caring for his little human but he's trying his best

Bunny: im imagining their first meeting,, maybe shuuichi's forest is extremely sheltered and humans have only recently started trying to "develop" it.. kokichi shrieking and swinging his sword around while vines hoist him higher and higher they start stripping him and he thinks he's about to die but they just end up poking around curiously wherever they can reach, trying to figure him out

Apollo: Shuichi that's not how you properly get a boyfriend smh

Bunny: he doesn;t know that!! he IS the forest there's nothing for him outside of it

Apollo: Shuichi appears but is absolutely zero help because he also starts poking Kokichi in curiosity

Bunny: he thinks shuuichi is there to help but no, he just wanted to feel kokichi's interesting textures more clearly the human makes cute noises when he pokes him there :D

Bunny: yes sometimes death is a natural part of the forest lifecycle but you can't cut him all the way down and expect him to live

Bunny: i think part of the reason he keeps kokichi is because of how INTERESTING he is. he's making offended noises about shuuichi taking him out of his strange false-skin one second and the next he smells like pleasure because shuuichi touched his chest NOT THE HEAD TILT…. with those antlers bro'd probably knock something over

Apollo: Shu can use magic right? Can he make it that Kokichi is no longer human (at least fully) cause humans don't last forever you know?

Kai: connect him to the forest become one with the moss

Bunny: just…don't seek an audience with him. he'll probably grant you whatever you ask, but is it really worth him having a squirming man in his lap the whole time…?? shuuichi doesn't see the problem

Apollo: Does Kokichi still look 100% human or does he have more fae like features now? (I dunno how to explain it lmao)

Bunny: i think he slowly gains them over the years never as much as shuuichi. but enough to be a little unnerving,, he wanders the villages vaguely unnerving everyone around

Apollo: He would though. He just walks away and everyone rushes into their houses because that's the forest's like boyfriend? Husband? Queen? Theyr'e not sure but they know not to mess with him

Bunny: he brings back lost children

Apollo: He has enough common sense to put on at least a skirt when he leaves the house only Shu gets to see him 100% naked

Bunny: he's wearing the same fucking clothes from several hundred years ago they don't age either, don't question it

Apollo: That would sorta suit the forest spirit vibe though

Bunny: it really does! he's killing it by shoving the offerings into his mouth like a goblin though

Kai: dude dressed in ancient samuri clothes who's rumored to be the spouce of the foreset spirit walks into town-

Apollo: He brings his sword around as well despite not needing it. It's badass okay? It's just annoying trying to return these lost kids to their parents while they're trying to mess with the sword He's sorta missed human food okay

Bunny: they ask him to teach them

Beez: what if he gets a new sword that sorta wraps around his wrist n whenever he wants to bring it out it uncurls

Apollo: He saves the kid of like a rich family and finds a shiny new magic sword among the offerings He sends a bird with a thank you note to their house and the village realizes that they don't just have to offer food. Kokichi also likes shiny stuff People start to think Kokichi is like a crow so whenever he comes to the village, he's wearing new shiny stuff they left for him

Bunny: that cave is about to get So Crowded that's why he walks so weird…he's got bird feets….. definitely……..

Apollo: Kokichi plays along with it and Shu says fuck it and like magics some wings for him because he finds it cute that everyone is calling him a crow

Hi! Would you mind making a colouring tutorial? Your control over colours is so impressive! The way you always know how to make vibrant background colours while keeping the skin tones perfectly pigmented. I’m sorry for leaving such a bothersome request :( I always feel lost when it comes to colouring because I never quite achieve the result I have in mind and I don’t really know what setting to modify.

HI! It's not bothersome at all! I do have an old tutorial up about how I color my picspams and I use the same method for gifs so for fear of sounding like a broken record, it might be more useful to check that out here. ^.^

a little more thoughts about the bear edit (i'm assuming this is the post you're referring to, please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong) + if there is something specific you're looking for, it might be easier for me to answer:

scene choices - never underestimate what i'm willing to sacrifice for the color i am aiming for. i wanted the gifset blue so these scene choices were chosen specifically for blue backgrounds with little movement. with that, i sacrificed the # of frames, other scenes that might have matched the lyrics better, other scenes that i thought were prettier but I knew i wouldn't be able to get the blue i wanted etc.

masking layers - this works really well in combination of choosing scenes with very minimal movement. i was only able to bring out the blue in this gif bc carmy didn't move at all. which meant i was able to create a new layer > color the background in > set to soft light > erase parts i didn't like such as blue that covered faces

adjustment settings - as for which layers to edit, i always go through selective colors, color balance, brightness, and curves. with selective colors, if you're not willing to learn color theory (like me bc i'm lazy) then it just comes with messing around with the sliders. for instance, there's a lot of white in the original scenes of those gifs and i know that if i use selective coloring > white > the whites can be turned cyan. then i add another selective coloring > cyan > and ramp up the cyans in there. i also duplicate selective coloring layers multiple times. sometimes i'll end up with 3 of the same layers just to get a vibrant blue. this is how i achieved the blues for this gif. now, i would go back to those layers and use the mask layer to erase all the blues i don't like over carmy & syd.

TLDR; i use a lot of brushing backgrounds and setting those on different modes (soft light, multiply, darken, etc..). i then will brush out all the areas i don't like (over faces, clothes, if it makes a section too grainy). then to enhance the color, i use selective layers. note that you can select for multiple colors in one layer, i personally do it one by one. (ex. if i'm trying to edit the cyan, i just do one layer of cyan and not edit the other colors in the drop down and duplicate to my desire). then finally, a color balance layer to tie it all back together.

whats your process on adding paper/grainy textures to your drawings they look soooooo good

HI so i don't have a super concise process for adding paper textures, i usually just experiment with layers until i get something i like. hold on im putting this in a read more bc im shy

generally though what i do is take one of the paper stock images i have saved and lay it over my drawings + set that to a blending mode. i might do this 2-3 times depending on how grainy i want it. i might also rotate or scale these layers to create more grain.

and/or i might throw the paper in the background underneath the lineart/color layers, and set those layers to a blending mode.

i think the brushes i use are pretty helpful too in replicating analog art. most of my fave brushes that i use all the time are the free ones i got from true grit supply and retro supply co.

here's what all of this looks like in action:

i will say that more recently i've just been using paper textures that came with brushes i bought from true grit, i like em because its basically this ^ but its all set up for you.

that said i think it'd be really easy to set up a canvas like this for yourself to use, the only reason i haven't is because umm. i like to make things odd and difficult for myself.

Some “news” articles online are debunking it (which is interesting because you’d think they’d run with this) and claiming that getting that kind of video angle from JKs apartment would be very very difficult because of the angles/apartment layout/privacy walls etc

To be honest with you guys , I've already read so much discourse about this topic about windows, camera angles etc that I'm kinda exhausted. From what I've personally seen, the layout matches, the dog and the guy look like JK and Bam and that's about it. The camera angle isn't impossible, especially if we consider that it could have been shot with a drone, hence the quality of the footage. Overall, it's so blurry, grainy and zoomed that noone could tell for sure and I think that's the point. It's obscure and can be interpreted whatever ways.

Personally, I don't think that just bc k-Army don't believe it , it can't be true. Sure, they could know more than us, especially about the apartment, but I doubt they have much more "secret information" than we do.

From what I've saw the only thing that doesn't add up in my mind are the windows. The Brunnen building (where JK lives) have units with different window configurations and Idk on which floor JK lives , but actually none of the windows from the outside seem matching to me with the windows we've seen in the inside of his home. Also, the video is very zoomed, so Idk why people are so adamant about the windows being completely different. I even saw a whole scheme of JKs floor plan, which I think may be going too far.

I don't want to become so obsessed with small, obscure details and loose sight of the bigger picture.

Despite whag k-armys/k-jikookers/netizens opinion is, I still think it is possible that that's JK and I have not seen anything concrete that debunks it yet.

hi, dev! you're like gif royalty in my eyes (the amount of packs and the size of them you put out??? woah!!) so i hope you don't mind me asking a potentially dumb question. i'm pretty new to making gifs. i can get gifs that are close up to look nice, but any that have the person i'm giffing not right up on the camera look super grainy. is there a technique or any tricks for making further away gifs?

OMG anon I am so not worthy of that. I'm still honoured that so many amazing gif makers that legit have the most amazing gifs are my friends/tag me so asdfjdf.

But also!!!! No giffing question is dumb. Like ever. We all had to learn at some point and ngl I am still learning so so much!!!

First off I'd say make sure you have HQ footage 1080p or 4k if you can but 720p is good too. A few of my things are made with 720p footage so its good. Mess around with the levels and curves layers! and the brightness/contrast. Those are usually the culprit in my experience. Sorry I cant like be better at explaining/more helpful bc i just mess around and then get surprised when shit works 😭😭 I'll put this in the tags though in case others are better at explaining/know how to legit fix this for you.

Hiii I just saw your recent gifset and I was wondering if you could share some colouring/quality tips for gifs?? I've been having some issues lately and I'm trying to collect knowledge from people with great skills, thanks in advance!

hiii!! <3 first of all, thanks omg :(( i feel absolutely underqualified to be giving advice but i'll try to tell u some stuff that i think makes gifs look nicer (i'll do it after a read more so that i don't clog up the dash)

idk how much experience you have in making gifs so i'm gonna be all over the place probably lmao sorry!!

first all, in connection to quality, using anything other than photoshop to gif (like websites or stuff like that) is gonna make your gifs look much less hq no matter how nice the actual footage is. sadly no website can beat ps :( also, using 4k/1080p clips is going to make your job much easier. I use 4kdownloader to get videos from youtube and it works great most of the times.

in terms of processing, once i get my video i use vapoursynth but i don't sharpen/denoise there. i think the vs sharpening is a bit too harsh sometimes and the denoising can be too extreme. (i know ppl get great results w sharpening/denoising there tho!! i've never got it to work like that lol) after the clip is opened in ps, i sharpen there. my settings are very basic (amount 500% and radius 0.4px and then i do that again but with amount 10% and radius 10px) if the original clip is too lq and i'm not satisfied with how the gif looks i might use topaz clean / denoise a little bit. but i try to keep that light. in my personal opinion, i think gifs that are too smooth (so much so that their hair gets blurry and stuff) just don't look as nice. i'd rather have a slightly grainy gif over a very very smooth gif where ppl don't look like ppl.

a lil trick i do when i'm not as pleased with the quality and the gifs are from mvs is to add a little bit of grain using the smart filter. so then the grain looks like it's there on purpose and not bc the og clip is bad (other times i just add noise for aesthetics like with my keppie gifset)

another tool some ccs use is high pass. i feel like high pass needs to be used lightly because sometimes it just makes people look like dolls :(( it's like it takes away all texture and it just looks... slightly odd? i tried to use it a few times but in the end i went back to my own sharpening. i just think it's a tool that needs to be used v carefully.

ok, coloring time!! coloring can literally fix a gif sometimes hahah. like a gif that looks kinda grainy suddenly u color it and it becomes ten times better. when i color, i start by messing with the curves and i tend to do this (this pic is just me messing with a random gif hahah)

i obviously play around with that but i love doing this because it makes my blacks darker. i also play around with exposure and i tend to bring the exposure up a little, bring the offset down a little and the gamma correction up (again, me messing around randomly just so u can see how my settings might end up looking visually. the numbers change all the time because it's not that i do it exactly like this all the time)

i've been told (and i can attest to it myself) that having gifs with a lot of contrast is good for quality so i feel like doing these prev things (and also messing with the blacks in selective color) allows me to bring out that contrast and also make gifs that i enjoy (i'm a high contrast gif lover) but you also have to be mindful not to make your subjects too white by upping the exposure or messing with curves too much. whitewashing is a no no, even if whitewashed gifs always end up looking less grainy >:( for skintone i play around with color balance and selective color mostly. if the whitewashing in the original video is too much, i might go to color lookup, use the preset 3strip, set the layer as 'darken' and mess with the opacity and then if it ends up looking too red i might do the same with a 'fall color' layer and lower the opacity even more for that one (or else the gifs looks too yellow). i also play around with the reds and the yellows in hue/saturation

finally, when i export the gifs, i make sure that i pick the saving mode (i'm sure this is not the proper way to call this but anyways sdfasd) that makes the gif looks better. like sometimes i find that with green gifs some settings make the gif look atrocious so i have to use adaptable for those but anyways i usually mess around w that hahah

how do you do your gifs?? can you share how you edit them; like the sharpen levels or smth like that?

hey, i sure can ! i'll focus on my current sharpening settings for this ask, if you want more information on how to get started with giffing i have an ask i answered that goes more into detail about the programs i use here. but the basics are that i use vapoursynth and photoshop, and i do all of my sharpening in photoshop. with that out of the way, i'll share my settings for getting from this to this below the cut:

i use 3 smart filters for my current sharpening which are unsharp mask, high pass, and gaussian blur. i always do these last, after i do my coloring. i'll put the settings for each and the results following the step below. first i do the unsharp mask:

the unsharp mask has a similar effect to the smart sharpen at high percentage and low pixel range, but i prefer unsharp mask bc it doesn't add the sometimes like ... grainy ? look that i often find happens to my gifs w the smart sharpen (personally anyways! i know many people who use it and their gifs look AMAZING). next i add the high pass:

as you can see the high pass really makes detail pop, and you can just stop here if you like the look. also, this sometimes really doesn't work for lower quality videos, and in those cases i will just use smart sharpen at a low percentage and higher pixel range instead. in both cases, i like to add this last step so that the edges don't look too hard:

and that's it for my current settings ! so you can also see how coloring can add to dimension and perceived quality of gifs, i'll add these comparisons below. if you want more info on my coloring process i have an ask i answered about it here, but also i'm always happy to answer more specific questions and/or give you any psds you're interested in as long as i've saved them.

any tips on fixing gifs that appear grainy? the layers and such are amazing, it just looks too pixilated.

i struggle with this a lot too and i don't have any specific tips that i know fixes grainy gifs. but gifs always look worse on mobile than on desktop. and that's just bc the app lowers the quality so the app can load faster or something.

but i'd check out this post and this post as starting points on how to fix grainy gifs. also looking more into the different settings in the save for web window can be useful. mine look like this right now:

for me specifically: i always try my best to gif a video with the highest quality there is. it's not always possible ofc when making concert gifs but i try anyway. also when i sharpen, i sharpen with smart sharpen and high pass. i find that the high pass filter is very useful in making the gifs seem smoother and not so grainy. another tip is to not make the gifs too big. the smaller they are the less grainy they are (i don't always follow this rule. sometimes you just want to make a bigger gif. but i find that if they're bigger than 540x450px they start to look bad if your video quality isn't the best). lastly is the coloring. overexposed gifs become grainy in my experience. so when you're coloring, be aware of how you're coloring the gif and how you use levels, curves and exposure. if you're brightening dark scenes the gifs will always be a little grainy.

anyway, I get you and anon so much. I hate her too, not that I would send her hate like other ppl do, and I can't even explain it. idk if the accusations are true and idc bc her vibes are just off for me and my vibes rarely lie 😭 but yeah, cropping her out is perfectly normal.

sometimes I wonder bc his presence has changed so drastically from before they were together and then immediately when they got together yk, and maybe it's all her, to me it is definitely her a lot. just look at how much he used to post on insta, all the funny shit and then they got together and it got less and less and then he deleted all of those posts last year and even more like a month ago or so, was fairly recent. people say it was his management who told him to but I don't really believe it. a lot of those posts he deleted weren't something that would've caused issues from a media/marketing perspective.

I don't even wanna look at the mess that is his basically ruined friendship with Madison bc that's mostly been a fan issue of those ppl shipping the two imo, but she probably had her hand in there two just by looking at how close Rudy and Madi were in the bts of s1 and then just the change that came slow first and then very drastic.

I also have a big issue with the whole production of the show bc so many ppl who are working on it are in there bc they have connections. like her being friends with one of the Pates daughters (who is also a reoccurring extra on OBX with her brother) long before the show started and then she got the job. you cannot tell me that there wasn't a way better photographer on line that could've done a way better job than her. but she has the right connections, so ig talent isn't that necessary in that case. (seriously her pics are always grainy. that can't be a realistic style choice bc it makes 90% of the pictures look worse than they could be)

There is so much to unpack here. Because yes my main reason for not liking her is my gut feeling. Something in my gut just tells me the same thing, something is off with her.

And yes, someone else that notices the HUGE change in Rudy. He is used to be goofy, always being in the BTS shots dancing, just full of life. It's not even him cleaning off his posts, it's his demeanor. Like if it's still there, he hides it well. I miss our goofy and full of life Rudy.

I try not feed into rumors, but I honestly do feel something happened between Rudy and Madison that changed their friendship. I don't know if it was fight about Elaine or her causing the issues, but it isn't even the BTS. It is interviews, BTS of course, but just body language. But that's on them, the still should be professional and do the job, which for the most part they do. Although to me I can't feel the chemistry between jiara.

And I can't with her and her supposed photography. I don't see it, don't think that she is that good. All I see with her constant vacation pictures is her mooching off Rudy and not having a job.

And as much as I hate the Pates showing favoritism, that unfortunately is pretty common in Hollywood.

it's not like a bad thing or even really that notable but the group of "cougars have a breeding population in the northeastern us/new england (and fish and wildlife/similar groups are intentionally covering it up)" people is so fascinating to me. idk sometimes I will just like look for a news article abt it and read the comments or find a facebook page for it and it's just. so interesting to me. I don't even necessarily think that 100% of sightings are misidentifications (though I mean.. probably most of them are) but the sheer confidence is so fascinating? idk. I've always wondered what I'd do personally if I ever saw an animal that I was completely convinced was a cougar (as in, got a clear look at it and also specifically saw the tail, because ofc the tail is a crucial factor lol), if I'd become one of the 'truthers' or not. something something human 'eyewitnesses' + memories are notoriously unreliable and all but like I am definitely sympathetic to "no, I saw this animal and I KNOW what I saw", it's definitely not.. easy to convince yourself that you're fooling yourself!

I will say though it's really really funny seeing people insisting they know so much about cougars and other animals and they'd never make a mistake etc. but then those same people will start talking abt black cougars (the black cougars thing is def a fun subset of this. 'giant black cat' sightings are such a Thing like.. everywhere..and I find it interesting although not surprising how here they get wrapped up into cougar sightings despite that being like. not a thing.)

or they'll be like responding credulously to or sometimes they themselves will post stuff like a repeatedly debunked piece of historical 'evidence', or grainy trail cam pic of literally a bobcat, or like a video of a feral cat ("I don't care what the so-called 'experts' say, no house cat has proportions like those, that's a cougar for sure!!") or, v funny one that I just saw, a pic from a trail cam that was just the top part of the head of a coyote!

it's also funny when they have a bit more integrity I guess and they DO push back against these things and start a fight within a group (just read a bunch of fascinating conversations among several people who all believed cougars live here but the point of contention was black cougars specifically, it got a bit heated lmao)

one of my favorite comments that I see over and over and over is people talking about "I've heard about lots of black cougars in (area) in particular" and I've seen this repeatedly in conversations about all sorts of different areas, like I think literally every single page or article I read about many different places all had a comment like this! and the reason for it is not because there are lots of black cougars (<- not a thing) in every single one of these areas but because giant black cat sightings are . sort of popular everywhere lol.

ugh ik this is a bad habit and I always start to feel a bit bad when I get too absorbed in something that's basically.. reading something to point and laugh. but idk it's also not like I'm directly linking to these people or responding to them or telling others to go mock them etc. as far as 'reading about people being silly on the internet' goes ig this is a pretty benign example but it's still something I try not to do too often. and admittedly like I said I AM somewhat sympathetic to a lot of these people/sort of understand where they're coming from! but anyways yeah idk why I find these particular conversations soo fascinating but I do. definitely part of it is bc it's possible to find conversations concerning the specific area where I live, it's still like.. interesting when it's about a place I'm not familiar with but it's substantially more fascinating when people are talking about like. places I've seen in real life, roads that I've been on before, or even neighboring towns/in one case the tiny little town that I live in.

a much longer than i anticipated halloween psa on hallucinations, sleep paralysis, and horror. the point of it being that you don't have to engage in horror if you don't want to, hallucinations are culturally influenced so people "seeing" the "same" thing doesn't mean it actually exists, horror videos are easy to make and not real, and having psychosis doesn't make you scary

since halloween is approaching rapidly i would like to take a moment to say that i am not putting up scary things/jump scare videos this year or any year!

also please respect and don't question why someone doesn't want to read/watch/interact with horror, and don't push someone into watching/reading something with horror elements bc it's "funny and not scary."

"I don't like that" is enough of an answer to give or to get!

there are medical conditions and certain medications that can increase or cause hallucinations, and those hallucinations can be shaped by horror movies/scary images even in a "funny" setting, so please just leave people alone about the "why"

and this year with the addition of:

horror videos are very, very, very easy to fake! the lower quality the video is, the easier it will be to pull off things like "objects flying around" etc. fishing wire is barely visible in a clear video, let alone a black and white, poor quality "surveillance camera"

blood and gore is so easy to fake in dim lighting/low quality too because it can be water-downed ketchup (and fake blood is so realistic and so easy to buy now!) and would still look "real" enough

(seriously people have mistaken gore for being "real" on vhs tapes that when remastered look like the gore is made of playdough)

it's so easy to play with dim lights and make jump scares with that! you're programmed to be be wary of predatory animals that might hurt you at night (like bears and lions or something) so that's why you freak out even if you "know" it is coming because your brain is thinking "oh no there's a danger here" and when the scare happens you think "that's the danger right there!"

it is so so so so so so so so easy to fake objects moving with fishing line or stop motion or just magnets or sticking a doll on top of a drill

you can so easily adjust contrast to make "too bright" eyes or something and filming in low light with a bright light on a human's eyes will already make them look "unreal" (I have low quality, in the dark, unsteady photos of myself where my eyes look like gollum's pretty much and I know it's not real because it's me. it just looks weird because it was really dark and the photographer was shaky and it's grainy with a high contrast)

editing is moving so fast now that people can make convincing-enough "monsters" or "demons" or something at home now! because it doesn't have to look like anything in particular and even it looking "wrong" and the movements not being "right" makes it scarier to us, so someone could fake a ghost in an afternoon I have seen so many "ghost" videos where I'm just like yes it looks scary but I can tell you it's not real because I studied video/photo editing and know how it's done

like I have made some pretty scary horror myself so I know, I /know/ it is fake

seriously if these things were real they would be in our textbooks

the most likely reason we freak out about "demons" and "ghosts" and such are diseases that we didn't understand and gave "supernatural" stories to to explain sick people. that's why they'll kill you, since you're going to catch the disease from them. (it's an instinct to protect ourselves from the disease by avoiding infection even when we didn't understand viruses and bacteria)

most "universal" stories like that can be traced back to certain illnesses from rabies to brain tumors

there is so much going on with humans and audio that we don't even realise or fully understand! just putting low enough sounds in the video can make you feel complete dread! probably because your body thinks something like an earthquake is coming? (like at the fastest that i can get into explaining it!)

a lot of "haunted" houses/places can be explained by underground ground movements! the plates moving make a sound we can't hear but can /feel/ and it scares us. this is why so many "haunted" places were called "haunted" by people who lived there even though they had different stories for what caused the "haunting"

sleep paralysis "demons" or "aliens" are influenced culturally and change over time! some people don't want to watch horror because it can shape what they see! just because a lot of people see the "same" monster does not mean it's actually real! memories are also not reliable. if you see a weird shadow thing and remember it as that and then see a picture later and say "the creature looked exactly like that" it's because your brain fills in the gaps to match so it can make sense. this again does not make it real! it did not look "exactly" like that but your brain wants to match pictures so it lies to you. this bad memory response explains so many stories of seeing the "same" "supernatural" thing

(I have a very good memory and find this happening to me all the time where my brain just wants everything to "match up" and "make sense" so it looks at something ehhh maybe similar and says good enough. I look out for it so I can catch it now, but I'm sure lots still slips by)

like seriously with memories and hallucinations so much is shaped by external influence. it does not mean that there is "proof" that these particular "demons" exist

you do not have to share anything personal about yourself to say why you don't want to do anything scary

you can watch charlie brown and eat candy if you want and anyone who respects you will be fine with that. they can even join after they do their own thing if you both want to

again you don't have to share anything personal about yourself! I am going to because I am an adult who feels comfortable doing so because I do want to share that I have experienced hallucinations (they can be caused "just" by stress and sleep deprivation too, so some people might experience them once or twice in their life and never again) that are really terrifying and feel 100% real when they are happening.

I did a lot of research into things like why sleep paralysis hallucinations are often described in the same way which is why I have a lot of this information.

when I became more aware of how my brain was processing information it was easier to explain things like why I and so many people will see shadowy figures in sleep paralysis. humans search for humans/faces on instinct because they are social, and a bookcase or shadows on the ceiling can look "close enough" to your brain when you're half asleep

it is really frightening to experience, but it does help to explain to yourself that what you are "seeing" is being influenced by the culture around you and your sleepy brain trying to fill in details

memory is not perfect and is so easily changed by external influences. but because your brain wants things to be "certain" it will lie to you completely.

I'm on a medication that causes auditory hallucinations which I never experienced before the medication. because I was read that warning beforehand when it started happening I could assure myself that it was just an auditory hallucination. a couple have sounded really creepy because my brain was trying to sort out nonsense syllables and got them mixed up with my fan. but they weren't real, so I was able to tell myself that.

grounding yourself and saying "this is not real" during a hallucination can be much easier when you know /why/ your brain is working the way it is working!

if you're working your way through this, you are being so brave already, and not wanting to scare yourself more isn't being a coward, it is acknowledging how you need to take care of yourself and sticking up for yourself, which is really brave

having psychosis or hallucinations or DID or anything else that media likes to make the "monster" or "horror" of horror does not make you scary or a bad person. a lot of it is just thoughts that you can't control. especially when you've been raised in an unstable environment, your mind is always jumping to "prepare" itself for bad situations, which itself can cause hallucinations.

there are treatments and medications that can help. getting out of a stressful situation can help. getting older even can help, as your brain stabilises when it is fully developed.

another thing to mention is that you can disable images from loading on webpages, which might be something you want to do around this time of year if you're feeling like you don't want to accidentally see anything scary. it varies browser by browser, but most of the bigger ones will have the option. (I've disabled images myself on firefox and chrome when doing some research on sleep paralysis)

even if there is no reason besides you don't like being scared, you still aren't a "coward" and you don't need to prove you're brave. again you already are brave by recognising how you need to take care of yourself and then taking care of yourself

also if you are a kid! it also often does change year by year what is scary and less things are the older you get, so be sure to be careful about something that isn't scary to you might be scary to your little sibling even if they are only one or two years younger (that was me growing up being the scared younger sibling. please don't be that kid who scares the younger ones.)

and again because I'm okay saying I've had experiences like this, that were really terrifying, I want to assure you that none of them ever hurt me. there was no demon or ghost or monster come to get me, and I am okay and alive. they were frightening experiences, but I was not in danger from them, because there weren't any real 'Bad Things" coming to get me. you'll be okay too, even though it is really scary. it was a real experience in that it happened to you, but not real in that the things you saw or heard actually exist and could hurt you. they can't. they can't hurt me. they can't hurt you.

but always remember that it's really brave and strong of you to get help if it's too much to go through on your own! you shouldn't have to be alone in this! do what you have to do to take care of yourself, and look out for others!

completely up to you, the choice is yours to make! from a technical point of view 4k (2160p) is always better, its bitrate is much higher (since 1Mb is 1024 kb!). from my point of view: i only use them if i want to gif a single scene and i want to make big gifs, or if the scene is really dark. e.g.: here's my druig set (not to self promote 😭💀) everything is giffed in 1080p except the sixth gif. can you REALLY tell the difference? i don't think so... i only needed the 4k here bc it was a really dark scene, so it wasn't too grainy when i made it brighter. but if you're using bigger gifs, the quality really is noticeably better, and you can actually see it! however, my computer is not the best when it comes to handling 4k (really slows down my gifmaking process from screencapping to loading in the caps into ps etc.) so i usually stick with the standard 1080p like 95% of the time. if your computer is better though (and have at least 8gb ram!) this shouldn't be a problem. at least i guess, but when i have a better pc hopefully in the next couple of years i can say for sure.

this is a really long answer idk how to close it jsagdkha maybe try out 4k, see how your pc can handle it and stick with it if goes well! but i think it requires different kind of sharpening technique bc whenever i used 4k video it never looked that sharp? or idk not sure about this, since i don't use them that often.

verdict: 2160p is always better but usually much slower (if you don’t have a good pc)

(we could also sit here all day and talk about how they use different codecs (x264 for 1080p and x265 for 2160p) but i feel like that would just confuse you at this point (since some 1080p videos also have x265 codecs lmao) and this information is not THAT important tbh. but if you want to, we can absolutely have that conversation next time you’re here!)

is 1080p.BluRay the best?

well yes, but actually no. BluRay.REMUX is the best. remux simply means that it’s untouched and lossless media file, without any compression. i don’t usually bother with this cause they can be really big files (up to 100gb and worse lmao) and i don’t have all day waiting for it to download. blurays are honestly perfectly good and fine as they are, no need for a remux. also, not every media has a remux! and you have to wait for someone to even upload it for a very long time! so yeah, bluray is your best bet! BUT and i can’t stress this enough, be aware that warez groups (they are the ones who do the nice work for you and upload torrents) sometimes compress their bluray files. like for example i just searched up ghostbuster afterlife and there are at least eight different 1080p bluray files there, some is only 2gb but others are 40gb. again, if the file seems too small don’t even look at it, it’s probably compressed to hell. e.g.: ghostbusters afterlife comparison here:

1080p.BluRay.x265-RARBG - size: 1.93 GB - bitrate: 2 001 kb/s

1080p.BluRay.x264 - 12.53 GB - bitrate: 9 594 kb/s

1080p.BluRay.REMUX - size: 35.14 GB - bitrate: 26.9 Mb/s

that is a HUGE difference!! the bigger the file the better the bitrate! so, yeah, look out for size and bitrate, both are important, even if it says bluray in the title, don’t just download it right off the bat.

so the hierarchy of files in short: - bluray remux - bluray (sometimes also called BDrip) - web-dl - web-rip - HDrip (pls never use this)

is rarbg good?

yes! (except its search engine* which is literally drunk all the time 🥴) it’s one of the best torrent sites out there tbh with you. especially if you want something that just came out. seeds are usually good so downloads are fast. i can also recommend torrentgalaxy or 1337x. however, if you’re searching for something older rarbg is not the best since older files aren’t seeded well. i use rutracker if i want something a little bit older. now, this is a russian site and i can explain how to use it if you want to (bc you need to have an account there if you want to use it, and the site is in russian, obviously) but i don’t want to go into this rn cause this is a whole another deal, and this answer is so long already 💀

*pro tip for using rarbg search, if you don’t already know this: instead of just typing in the name of the movie/show into the search bar (which can bring out totally unrelated things), first search it up on imdb, and then in the url copy the part that starts with “tt” and looks something like this “tt0361748″ (this is inglorious basterds, btw), and now copy this into the search bar of rarbg. you’re going to get much more accurate results!
