NEVER HAVE I EVER / CHAPTER 01
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
next chapter
pairing: luke hughes x fem!reader
summary: two college kids trapped in a bathroom
warning(s): underage drinking, idk
word count: 0.8k
author's note: this takes place when our boy is in college, obviously. hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
A sigh of relief escapes your lips as you finally reach the bathroom. The volume of the music and the chatter from the party fades significantly in this quieter sanctuary, offering a moment of respite from the overwhelming atmosphere. It's in this tranquil moment that your mind fills with regrets about your decision to attend this party.
Staring at your reflection in the mirror, you take a moment to adjust your strapless top, which had fallen a bit lower than you'd prefer. Despite feeling like both a physical and emotional wreck, you take solace in the fact that at least you don't look as bad as you feel.
"You're not allowed up here," a stern voice echoes from beside you.
Startled, you jump back, your heart racing, with uncontrolled, heavy breaths escaping your trembling lips. With a mix of fear and curiosity, you cautiously pull back the shower curtain, and your eyes widen in disbelief. There, in the bathtub, lies Luke Hughes, a prominent player from the hockey team, nonchalantly sipping from a bottle of tequila.
"What the heck?" you blurt out, your mind reeling as you struggle to make sense of the bizarre situation unfolding before you.
He casually shrugs, taking another leisurely sip from the tall bottle. He extends it towards you dismissively. "Want some?"
You shake your head, an air of confusion still swirling around you. It perplexed you why he was up here, drinking alone, especially after his team had just won tonight's game by six goals, and he had earned four points.
He chuckles, his gaze shifting from you to the space in front of him. "Figures."
You scoff, bristling at the implication in his words. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means, I knew you wouldn't drink, because you're a good girl," he says, a slight smirk playing on his lips. By God, did you want to wipe it off.
"You don't know anything about me," you tell him, your head tilting slightly to the side, as if trying to get a better read on him. You try not to feel offended by being called a good girl, but his tone implies something else, and that annoyance simmers within you. You knew there was nothing wrong with being a good girl, but he made it sound as if there was, and that grated on your nerves instantly.
"Your name is Y/N Y/L/N. You're majoring in sports psychology, and you love hockey. You used to play volleyball here before you tore your rotator cuff. You used to date that asshole from PHI KAI before he cheated on you with your best friend Anna. Your favorite movie is The Big Short, and you almost never leave the house without your camera."
Your mouth falls agape, and you're left momentarily speechless. Your mind struggles to comprehend how he even knows your name, let alone all that personal information about you. Sure, you attended a lot of hockey games, and you might have passed him between classes, but you've never engaged in conversation before today, and yet, he's just recited personal details about your life with unnerving accuracy.
"It doesn't matter, I'm leaving anyways. Have a good night, Luke," you mutter, your hand wrapping around the door handle. You twist it, but the handle refuses to budge. Frustration building, you bring up your other hand, using both in a hurried attempt to twist and pull at the handle, yet the door remains stubbornly locked in place.
"Luke, I can't open the door," you inform him, your hands still struggling with the doorknob.
You pivot to face him, noticing that he's reclined in the tub, his eyes now shut. "Yeah, it does that," he comments, the tone of his voice making it seem like this happens often.
You shoot him an incredulous look. "Well, can you fix it?"
He clears his throat. "Yeah, you can," you let out a sigh of relief, but it's short-lived. "From the outside."
You let go of the handle, stumbling backwards slightly as you assess the current situation you're in. Your back meets the sink counter, and you wince at the pain but choose to ignore it for the moment. "Can you call someone?"
He lets out a heedless laugh, finally opening his eyes just to raise his brows at you. "My phone is downstairs."
"My phone is dead!" You exclaim, pulling your phone out of your back pocket and waving the device around, but nothing but a black screen appears.
Luke shrugs again, an easy-going smile playing on his lips. "Looks like we're trapped."

Evay QA Bulk Post 3
Here’s the latest assembly of asks, assorted by topics so you can browse only what interests you. Also, some questions refer to the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure game I made, so to avoid spoilers for those of you who haven't played it, I put those asks all the way at the bottom. If you haven't played my game yet, please go play it!
PERSONAL ASKS
Anon asked: E-vay may i ask which tablet mark do you use for your drawings?
And dreamylumi-art asked: Was wondering what is your favorite brushes In Procreate? Your drawings look so fun and bouncy that I’m interested in your process!
A: I use an iPad and I do all my drawings in Procreate now. I like to experiment with brushes, but the primary brushes I use come standard with Procreate. I use the "Procreate Pencil" for my sketches and the "Technical Pen" for linework :)
Anon asked: How are u and ur family doing? ❤️
A: You are so very sweet for asking ❤️ We're all doing really good right now. My dad's surgery went great and he's cancer free and fully healed. My mom is on medication that's helped her a lot. Things are also looking up for my younger sister (she even got engaged this Christmas!). I'm stressed but for good reasons hahaha I'm very thankful and counting my blessings right now.
twistedchaos101 asked: Hey, what’s your MBTI?
A: I just retook the test and I got "INFJ-T Advocate" for myself :)
karura-senpai asked: Have u ever heard of these new bollywood movies like Animal and Dunki which are popular rn around the world because of instagram reels and tiktok videos...
A: I can't say that I have, I'm sorry! My Tiktok FYP is very niche so I don't see many things about movies on there.
edwinflores428 asked: E-vay, since you're also a Beatles enjoyer, did you hear the new Beatles song 'Now and Then'?
A: I had not known about this before you told me! I just listened to it and I really loved it. It has that beautiful, 60's-Beatles feel to me. Thank you so much for point it out to me!
Anon asked: What's your creative process when going into writing / planning for a comic? Apologies if this has been asked before.
A: I normally start by just jotting down any super rough concepts/quotes in my notes app. If the piece I'm doing involves stuff I don't know by heart (renaissance clothing or certain landscapes or anything like that) I'll work on gathering a TON of resource images. That way I'm not interrupting my drawing process by repeatedly stopping to look up references. I try to do it all up front and have it saved somewhere I can easily access.
Once I have more time, I'll write out the script in a Google Doc. I break up the script by each panel. I won't always have all the elements ready in my head, and sometimes I'll combine panels or separate them more, but I can always adjust:
Tumblr media
Once I have a basic script, I can start to rough out the drawings/panels. These are just gestural drawings; I'm not looking to do anything too detailed here. I'm trying to figure out what best captures the emotions/energy of the scene and determine the natural flow of where your eyes will want to read the art and word bubbles:
Tumblr media
Then I move on to the "pencils." This is my opportunity to nail down the expressions and flow. Sometimes I'll realize the page is imbalanced so I will redesign the panels so it has more even weight distribution or make it more dynamic/emotional. I always draw the characters in different colors so it can help me make sure I know what lines belong to which character:
Tumblr media
Then it's on to all the fun stuff: Lines, coloring, shading and adding text!
Tumblr media
I hope this answered your question! It's pretty straight forward :)
Anon asked: have you ever watched the anime fairy tail? if no i think sonamy fits the main couple NaLu (natsu x lucy) really well, like as if they’re similar 🫶🏻
A: I'm sorry, I've never seen it! I don't watch much anime anymore.
Anon asked: Can you make different characters(aka people sonic characters/oc) in your own style
A: When I'm open for commissions, yes! I am not open for commissions at the moment but I plan on doing that this year.

MISC SONIC ASKS
chrismantike asked: What’re your thoughts on longclaw (the owl from the sonic movie) does she exist in your AU as Sonic’s mom?
A: I liked the relationship we saw between Longclaw and baby Sonic in the movie, but I consider the movie as something entirely separate from the game/comic canon. I don't include any of the movie elements as part of my AU.
essycogany asked: What do you like most about Prime!Sonic?
A: Hmm, I think my favorite thing about him is how open he is with his emotions. In this show, he's very verbal about how much he cares about his friends and he doesn't hide it when he's sad or upset about something. In other media, Sonic has a habit of masking his emotions. I get that that's part of his personality, but it's nice to see this different side of him. (I also like how he showed more emotions in Frontiers, too!)
juli071023 asked: e-vay, what motivates you a lot about Sonic these years, why do you love it a lot, what motivates you about that character?
A: In the words of Young Neil, 'that's kind of a big question' haha. Simply put, the franchise just fuels me with excitement and joy and love! The character Sonic represents happiness and freedom and living in the moment and loving life to the fullest and I think that's such a great outlook to have. From a meta standpoint, I love how good the Sonic Team is to us fans. They engage with us regularly and put out SO MUCH CONTENT for us, more than any other franchise I'm aware of! I mean there are plenty of other great IPs out there, but you don't get the bombardment of games and shows and comics and social media engagement (etc) that you get with Sonic. I just think that's so cool! The fans love Sonic so much and the creators know that and reward us for our commitment. It's awesome.
Anon asked: So who do you think would win in a fight between Mario and Sonic
A: I gotta go with my boy Sonic! But of course it's better when they team up :D
Anon asked: How do you feel about the Dadow theory/au? As in Shadow being Silvers Dad. I honestly like it a lot.
A: If they're related, I think it makes more sense for Shadow to be Silver's grandpa or great grandparent. I think there are plot holes to say that he's directly his dad but I'm definitely open to them being related. Plus I think people can headcanon/au just about whatever they want, so I'm not against that theory :)
Anon asked: Hi e-vay, I hope you’re having a great day!! My question is: if there were to be a Sonic movie that’s only about Sonic and the guys but they were all being played by human actors, which actors do you think would suit them best?
A: Thank you so much, I hope you are too! Oh man this was so difficult but I put a ton of thought into it. And I'm sure there are still tons of actors I'm not thinking of who would be better, but here's what my gut tells me: Older Sonic: Max Greenfield [x] [x] or Jack Quaid [x] [x]. They're so witty and handsome and are built like runners! Younger Sonic: Jack Dylan Grazer Older Amy: Alison Brie. Even if it wasn't a live action movie, I so desperately wish that Alison Brie could be Amy's voice actor. I'm actually working on an animation where Amy is paired with some Alison Brie lines because I think it's such a perfect fit. She's sweet and funny and strong and sexy. She's on the petite side but she has that confidence that just commands a room. Ugh, Amy and Alison are my dream women 💖 Younger Amy: McKenna Grace Older Tails: Justice Smith or Cole Sprouse Younger Tails: Noah Jupe or Jacob Tremblay. Sorry, I don't know many young actors but I think they're both great! Older Knuckles: Terry Crews or Jason Momoa Younger Knuckles: Tyler James Williams [x] [x] Shadow: Jensen Ackles or Michael B Jordan 💖Swoon💖 Older Rouge: Ana de Armas or Charlize Theron Younger Rouge: Jenna Ortega or Sophie Turner
Anon asked: How old are the sonic boom characters in your opinion?
A: Firstly, I've said this before but I don't think Mobian age works the same as human age. I consider the Sonic Boom characters as all being what we'd consider as late teens or young adults. They all act like me and my friends did when were were college age haha
Anon asked: What do u think tails looked/acted during puberty🙂
A: That's what Tall!Tails is all about! I think he shot up in height and outgrew Sonic immediately. Maybe he got a bit more snarky and might mutter about how annoying it is that Sonic doesn't think things through before acting, but Tails is a sweetheart and I think he'd overall still be nice even while he's in that awkward stage of life.
--
MY OCs/AU ASKS
@redbirduniverse13 asked: Hi i love your art 💖 My question is, are your characters aware that other versions of them exist?
A: Thank you so much! No, they aren't aware of any other versions of them out there. Ruff would probably be most hopeful to meet other versions of himself since he's into comic books and would love the concept of the multiverse.
twistedchaos101 asked: What's your ocs MBTI?
A: I have too many OCs to do all of them lol But I'll do it for Aurora and CC. As Aurora, the results from the test were: "ENFP-T Campaigner" As CC, the results from the test were: "INTJ-A Architect"
Anon asked: Question, how is Aurora able to glow ?
A: Aurora has photokinesis, which gives her the ability to manipulate light. This results in a lot of things she's able to do that involve light, but glowing is the easiest thing for her to do (and is the hardest for her to suppress lol). She was born with these abilities but they didn't manifest until she was about preteen age.
charlieangel345 asked: You know everytime I saw Aurora glow up, her photokinesis power changes color. It made me wonder if she feel happy, angry, or sad, her light power might change colors. I can imagine she can create rainbow light.
A: Absolutely! Her powers are severely influenced by her emotions, so the color of her glow would definitely change based on her feelings. I have her inhibitors glow green naturally, but she could do any color under the light spectrum.
freshcreationgarden asked: I like to think Aurora's favorite fairytale growing up was beauty and the beast. Something about a handsome prince who hides beneath a rough exterior who believes they are not worthy of love who is bound to a "Rose"
A: Oh that is just too sweet! That metaphor is very perfect for what I write for her romantic future ;) I have said in a previous ask that Thumbelina is her favorite fairytale, but I like your headcanon too!
Anon asked: Hi, something randomly popped in my head about like the comics of aurora and I wondered, has aurora ever gotten sick?
A: Of course! She's just a regularly lady so she gets sick like average people do. I see her as the type that doesn't get sick often, but when she does it LAAAASTS. (That's how I am and it sucks!)
Anon asked: I know this might be a weird question, but can it be possible if Aurora can do chaos control with a chaos emerald like Sonic and Shadow.
A: I'll be honest, because we don't know much about Chaos Emeralds, I don't know who is capable of using them or not. But because Sonic is capable of using Chaos Control, I'm going to say yes Aurora should be able to as well. I don't think it's a technique either of them can master like Shadow does. Chaos Control seems second nature to Shadow.
Anon asked: if we go by sonic underground lore imagine Aurora finding out that she's technically a princess/duchess. Like sonic always call her princess because that's what dad's typically call their daughters, but then she finds out and her mind just explodes.
A: Honestly, I'm not a Sonic Underground fan. I know a lot of people love it for the nostalgia, but I didn't watch it growing up so I don't have any ties to it and I am not a fan of the story. I'm okay if people want to headcanon tying it in, but it's not for me.
*The next question is a Shadora Ask. Skip if you don't like Shadora*
Anon said: Hi, so glad you’re back! Just reread Boom!Baby where Rouge mentions how hedgehogs have a lot of babies and I think it’s kinda funny in the future Shadow and Aurora have eight
A: Thank you so much, I'm so happy to be back! Yeah, Rouge really knew what she was talking about 😆 I bet she told Shadow the same thing when they were expecting!
Anon asked: Does aroura ever run into her ex again?
A: Aurora spends most of her life in a small bubble, rarely leaving her home town, so she would have run into him now and then. Again though, they were kids when they were "boyfriend/girlfriend" and you can hardly even call them that (Imagine like in the Barbie movie, how Ken and Barbie don't know what it means to be Girlfriend-Boyfriend) so it's not awkward running into each other. It's more of a "Hey there's that person I used to know"
prophecyhyper asked: When Aurora was born and Amy said "She's more perfect than I imagined" What did she imagine of Aurora looking like?
A: She didn't have an exact image in mind when she said that. It was more like an amorphous concept. You know somehow the baby will look like you and your partner, but there are so many different outcomes. So she would have daydreamed about all the possibilities: the baby looking more like Sonic, the baby looking more like her, maybe the baby having elements of their grandparents.
Anon asked: Will Sage exist in your AU?
A: Yes! I adore Sage!
*The next question is a Shadora Ask. Skip if you don't like Shadora*
Anon asked: Hey Evay, I’ve been thinking about this lately. It’s kind of silly question. If there is a naughty and nice list, which of Shadora Kids is naughty or nice.
A: This was a great question and I'm so sorry I missed it before the holidays! This is all in fun, none of them got punished: Piper: Nice but ONLY after Santa had to give her a lecture on how she needs to not be a smartass and boss around her siblings Zane: Naughty (He did too many stunts indoors!) Nova: Nice Aster: Naughty (He and Blitz plotted to kidnap Santa) Blitz: Naughty (She finds it a point of pride) Diamond: Nice Cinder: Nice (He's scared of Santa) Boon: NICE! (He doesn't know the meaning of the word naughty!)
Anon asked: haven’t seen CC in a while, could we have more CC please
A: There will be more CC, I promise! :)
kbluetoons asked: Say, after reading your spindash lesson comic (which was really cute by the way), what if Aurora showed her kids how to spindash like how Sonic showed her?
A: Aw I'm so happy you liked it! Yes, learning to spin dash is vital to a hedgehog's upbringing ;) She'd teach them very young but then immediately regret it because they'd be spindashing all over the house. Now she knows why Sonic was so hesitant to teach her when she was little!
mod-bubamon asked: I know spooky season is over but how do cc and tails handle horror movies? Does cc Criticize every litter thing the protagonist do? Does tails even get scared after all he's been through? IF CC GETS SCARED DOES SHE HUGS TAILS TAILS FOR COMFORT??? THIS IS IMPORTANT
A: Hahaha I loved this question! First of all, Spooky Season is never over for me! ↜(ˈ╰ •ω•)╯ψ So bring on all your Halloweeny ideas! CC would not be fun to watch horror movies with. She would be overly analytical, not only of the actions that the victims are doing but how unrealistic the injuries/gore/battles are haha. I see Tails as someone who originally was afraid of scary movies, but watching them with CC has actually helped him to be less afraid of them. Now he spots the same flaws she does and they like to roast them together! Just to clarify -- CC does get scared of things, just not horror movies.
Anon asked: Hey, I rediscovered your art recently and almost forgot how much I loved it! I love CC and was wondering if you had any small head cannon kinda things you have for her and Tails you would share that you haven't already?
A: Well welcome back and thank you so very much! This question was not related to the previous question, but the previous question sparked an idea for me so I'm going to expand on it here. When Tails and CC first started watching horror movies together, CC noticed that Tails was super on edge. To help relax him, she'd take his tails into her lap and pet them to calm him down. He's not as scared of movies anymore, but he always has her stroke his tails while they watch shows together now :) Also, CC is still getting used to Mobian mannerisms and nuances. They've made a nightly routine where during dinner, she debriefs Tails on all the new conversations and interactions she's had with people and Tails scores her on how well she's adjusting. She likes the challenge and strives for a better "score" every day!

SHIPPING ASKS
essycogany asked: How are you feeling about the new Sonamy material from this and last year? Things are really starting to become more obvious as the years go on.
A: It does my shriveled little heart so much good! I don't know that they'll ever cross that line in canon, but I love how much their relationship has evolved compared to years ago. It means the world to me that Sonic considers Amy as one of his best friends and as someone he can depend on (and is even willing to think about dating ((in reference to that cut dialog line from Frontiers)). And I love that Amy has proven that her feelings for Sonic are more than just a fan-crush; she genuinely loves him for who he is and will always be there for him. UGH IT MAKES ME FEEL SO ALIVE!
Anon asked: I just wanted to say that I love love love your sonamy works! :D Absolutely adorable (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Also, only if you want to answer ofc, what are your thoughts on the ship Metamy (Metal Sonic and Amy)? Thank you for the lovely food you bring and have a wonderful day!
A: Oh gosh, thank you so much! You just made my day wonderful by this sweet message! I do ship Metamy! After all, I believe in my heart of hearts that Sonic has feelings for Amy and Metal Sonic is supposed to be the same as him... ^_~ I think despite his transgressions, Amy has a special place in her heart for Metal. He's one of the reasons she even met Sonic in the first place! But what I'd prefer most is for Metal Sonic to have a Metal Amy. That way everybody wins 💕
Anon asked: Hi e-vay I love ur dr who art!! Question, do tenrose remind you of sonamy? Or do any characters or couples from the whoverse remind you of any sonic character or couples?
A: Ahhh thank you so much! I always thought my Doctor Who art got lost in the void so I'm so glad you found it! TenRose is my favorite DoctorWho ship, so I think by law I have to relate them to sonamy haha. But honestly I think RoryXAmyPond suits sonamy more if you reverse the roles. Rory's absolute dedication to AmyPond--regardless of death--was the definition of love, and that's how I feel Amy Rose is for Sonic. I can't think of any other ships that are good parallels. River Song reminds me of Rouge just that she's savvy and flirty. Forgive me, I stopped watching after Eleven regenerated so I'm not up to date on anything. If you don't like the Shadora ship then don't click this link, but I have drawn Aurora and Shadow as Ten and Rose before :)
Anon asked: Werehog Sonic and Werehog Amy kiss meme or a mini comic about both kissing in their werehog forms?
A: I kind of already drew that :) It's the 10th drawing in this post.
*The next question is a Shadora Ask. Skip if you don't like Shadora*
penguin-evere asked: hello! this is my first time doing something like this. i've loved your art for a while now (probably since 2017-2018), and i love the new style you have! anyways, i wanted to ask if you've seen the frontiers twitter takeover, and the newfound information about shadow's secret like of some good ol' t. swizzle music, and was curious if aurora would be a fan too, and if they would go to a concert together! i think it'd be really cute.
A: Thank you so much! And I'm so relieved you still like my stuff even after all this time :) Aurora loves pop music and so yeah I could see her being a Taylor fan for sure. Although I don't take Swifty!Shadow as canon (lol) it is still fun to think they could bond over that music together!
*The next question is a Shadora Ask. Skip if you don't like Shadora*
Anon asked: what was the shadora confession like? Cause I like to imagine that it was shadow who confessed and that he did it in the most dramatic way possible, cause he's our drama king.
A: I don't want to reveal too much until I've properly drawn it, but yes for my stories Shadow would confess his love first. He's technically loved her longer since he met her when she traveled back in time to save him so once they've "re-met" I don't think he'd be willing to hide his feelings too long. It's Shadow so of course it has to be so romantic and dreamy~!

ASKS RE: MY GAME
Anon asked: How did you make the Trick Or Sweet Halloween Game, can you show me what you used or did to make it? If you can do a step by step that would be helpful or just tell me how you did it that would be helpful:))
A: Oh man... Honestly, it was way too complicated of a project to explain in just one answer. And I won't be able to explain any of the technical/coding side. I watched so many tutorials but I just couldn't grasp it, so my husband had to code it for me and I have no idea how he managed it. From a non-technical standpoint, I had to first write out the script for it. That means writing out all the dialog and also writing out every option possible. Even though my game was fairly linear, this was still complicated to write. What helped me was using icons and colors to help me know which actions would lead to which outcomes:
Tumblr media
Then came the longest part, the drawing! I had to draw a variety of sprites and backgrounds and objects. Also, some of the actions you take make certain items go away, so I had to remember to hide them depending on the path you took. Once I had all the elements, I assembled them in a Slides presentation to test it out. If you're not doing anything too complicated, you could probably get away with making your game entirely in Google Slides. Mine was too complicated and I wouldn't be able to publish it to my website but it was good for testing. When it was ready for build, I had to make a comprehensive guide for Ryan showing what clicks lead to where, what sound effects should be played when, when the music tracks should switch, etc:
Tumblr media
He programmed it in Adobe Animate. I don't know how he did it, other than he's just a brilliant babe and I thank god for him lol
Anon asked: Just at a curiosity though, whatever happened to everyone (especially Sonic & Amy) AFTER your truth serum wore off from your ‘Trick or Sweet Adventure’? Also how about Shadow & Rouge? Did they get affected as well?
A: They lived happily ever after, of course! If the two just told each other how they felt then they'd be happy (in my opinion) so they just needed a little magical kick in the butt haha. I didn't have any plans for Shadow or Rouge, but if I could cast a spell to make them happy then I would give Rouge a throne of diamonds and Shadow the chance to ease the pain in his heart (T▽T)

Thank you all for the questions!

its 6am and I'm complaining myself through the ending of purgatory k? This is just the bitching not a full balanced analysis, bits I genuinely enjoyed are missing so it looks like I have a worse opinion than I did, its below a cut because a lot of people don't want that and that's absolutely good. I'm just processing through.
I think purgatory ending feels bad because we were promised by the way it was advertised and treated the end of the arc, and what we got was another fucking mid point instead. A mid point which after this going on for so long nobody really wanted. Setting up new project cool! But it felt miserable to watch the end. Probably could have been helped if the CCs had more info on a meta level - just the timescales and that this wasn't actually the end of the arc - so they could pace themselves and us better. The eggs missing has gone on for far too long, we've been given far too little to work with, and it's just not fun viewing any more. Which is why my engagement is so dependent on the next little while.
That, plus getting to the boat on foot was impossible without near perfection - something they were never going to all have. I like giving qMaxo his big sendoff with the nuke which solves nothing! But people who were legitimately trying to escape (Cellbit, Tina, off the top of my head - Cellbit just legit got lost in the underground. He said after he decided to stay but like... really? We'll have to wait and see next time he plays qsmp. If nothing else he legit had shit to do planned, and I feel like he would discuss it more with Roier if he was going to perma-kill Cellbit as that's massive to put on someone else's character. Pretty sure ccCellbit was just teasing like he fucking does but we'll see. Also changes what Maxo did if any of them die to it /significantly/. I'll be genuinely worried for ccMaxo if his characters actually pretty neat death arc resulted in a fan favourite character permadying in a game without permadeath) should have had a legit chance to do so. If they were supposed to be able to. I really hope the admins smooth that bit over one way or another, because it just made shit feel extremely bad. Kinda expect the /actual/ ruling to be if one person made it they all did, but dear god they needed to tell the players that immediately after or whatever if so. Failing that you could maybe have the others in the Nether or something, but youd need to coordinate everyone who didn't make it and that'd just suck logistically. The sensible answer is if one person got there they all did because this isn't a high legality sort of game. For players.
Like the other eggs were probably kidnapped by something and reported out? And I'm betting on black concrete plot as that's the plot actually associated with them disappearing in the first place, but for all it's cool moments up until then it just... dropped the ball. Tbh the entire thing with the eggs being involved was a massive ball drop which lead to /one/ cool conversation but otherwise just made everything infinitely less enjoyable.
Poor BBH. Like cc wise. He's one of a whole lot of them who have horrific rp safety practices, but also there's not really anyone to teach them that and that's nothing to punish someone for. Hope it gets hashed out with him. All of them but especially him.
Having players of another project as "advertising" for a new project without them knowing more in advance tastes kinda shitty. Very shitty. We'll see how tied it ends up being but that's just not comfy.
Quackity saying about big stuff planned is absolute ass. Like legitimately and out of character the CCs genuinely need a break for a bit you can't just throw them back into heavy stuff immediately. They need space to breath oc and find their footing ic. Most of them have streamed far more than usual this fortnight, and even for those who do stream daily usually it's been intense. You can say if its hurting them they can just take a break but you cannot convince me they can when their literal irl incomes depend on this. Some more than others, but they do.
Also like the tension just genuinely doesn't hold that long. Most of what I run is combat heavy fantasy events, but I've done horror too. And a big bit of running horror events is studying how pacing and tension works, especially over an extended period (horror events locally tend to be multi-day). You /can/ change the usual layout, but you have to know your fucking shit and be really careful if you do, and the admins and Quackity just don't seem to - as a collective whole, some individuals may - have the experience necessary to fuck with the formula. Like. I'm burnt out, the players are ooc burnt out, the fandom generally seems burnt out - not giving the players a win here was already a mistake, but the tension /has/ snapped. Too many people are too burnt out from playing more than usual and all that, under very high stakes circumstances, for very little reward. There needs to be a break where players who do other stuff can play other stuff and players who don't can take the time to find their footing again. Tension levels are not sustainable and they broke them open. If they hadn't revealed the eggs you could have stretched it another few days, but they did. At which point losing the eggs again is genuinely so fucking unsatisfying. They could have only been shown the winning egg. Like sure fuck with people, that's what's going on IC and OC maybe it was supposed to be reassurance, but it just ended up feeling ghoulish. It was so obviously playing on feelings it just fell flat for me. Not even the fun playing with feelings, just a fuck you.
Also communication has been fucking atrocious. Yes keep twists in the bag, I can see arguments for all plot points, but the players needed to know the timescale, the fact it was a PvP not a lore event, and that this wasn't the end of the eggs missing arc rather an interlude waaaaaaaaaaay earlier. Like they found out as these things became obvious, but given the time commitment it demanded they needed to know like weeks before it started. As soon as it was announced. We can tall all we like about trusting the admins, but the admins have got to fucking trust their players to still make good viewing times even if not everything is a complete surprise. It fucked over Cellbit and Roier and their murder plot planning, it fucked over a lot of people ooc and their streaming schedules and their ability to do actual life things. Forever when given the Judas plot should have been told in advance when it would be activatable. The players - not the characters or the audience, the players - should have known it was 15 days, PvP, only 1 egg was on the cards for now, that the chance to save the others will come later (I have no doubt it will), and that they would need to escape fast at the end. Not the why, not the how, not the plot, but you need to know the fucking stakes.
Like okay let's look at shit I run a sec. Its nor perfect, but we've been building on a 20+ year tradition of larp in the same place and learning from what does and doesnt work. Info players have in advance:
date and time. for things run for and at the university, dates generally are announced start of the year, and which system will be which day is the start of every term. For events for the uni but at an unusual place or time (often an IC dinner party or similar), 3 weeks in advance. For stuff not associated with the university (I help with fewer of these, as far fewer happen and theyte the ones i can still play with my disability)... well, they tend to be multi day in a hired venue and players pay a lot of money to be there, so its usually about a year and a half in advance. The stuff below about pitches are for saturday ones - paid for multi day events all that info is announced at least a year in advance, and for single day non-university ones at least 6 months. But like qsmp is a constantly running thing so the university stuff is a fairer comparison.
Every event has a "pitch". This goes up the Tuesday before for Saturday events - theres a couple of different teams running different genres but same place same time theres a larp every termtime saturday just 9/30 are run by my team. The pitch will contain the information the characters know going into a mission or social or whatever. If theres a twist the twist isn't mentioned, ofc, just the initial setup. Then, there's an out of character section, with stuff like date and time and reminders to weather weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes.
If the event is /not/ in the format players expect, in the out of character info including things like the time, we say that. We run combat heavy stuff. If it's purely social, we say so. If it'll be more Freeform than usual, we say so. If the party is getting split we - you guessed it - say so.
Our events have different levels of IC rewards. The basic reward can always be assumed (3 gold, iirc). Theres also 4 and 5 gold days. If its not 3 gold, it says so in the pitch, and players know this is a difficulty rstinf system. 3 is normal, 4 is "this is designed to be challenging for late end high xp characters and is likely to kill lower levels", 5 is "we are actively trying to kill someone". Death is always an option, but the ref team don't usually want it.
Sometimes there are RP rewards too. These are not explicately stated, but are alluded to "you will be paid so long as you eliminate the monster. If you capture it and deliver it to the university, however, the chancellor promises an extra something for you" sort of thing. "The Dowager Duchess is well known for rewarding those in her favour. Impress her, and she may do the same for you".
If there's distressing content that isn't covered by genre and game style, we include a warning. Last time was "this session will include horror elements. A list of content warnings is available from any ref on request", and we DMed players we knew have triggers on that list the same day pitch went out to liase with them. Yes even when the trigger is a plot twist or a spoiler because fuck you player safety will always be most important. One which had content warnings but was not horror "this session contains potentially distressing material. A list of content warnings is available from any ref on request".
And like... call me naive but this is the sort of info the players should have? In advance they should have a summary (yes it's also given IC at the start of the event, but it means they can prep properly), dates and times well in advance (so they can prep their lives and other projects), expected rewards (even if vague), and any particularly common triggers (like say a third party intentionally sewing paranoia and fucking with mental health of characters) should have a "theres triggers here please put a message in your help channel for a list". I'd say also some indicator of where on a plot arc something falls.
We dont give this because our pacing plot arc wise is determined by how we run them. Paid events are all always one offs (I run them with a different group of people but same circle) - except when they aren't in which case this is made clear at the pitching stage- and uni ones its dictated by the university schedule - we run nine main events a year, 3 each term. There's a small climax last linear of every term, and a major one at the end of a year. Yearly arcplots do not always exist but when they do they end with the last linear of term. There are some other plots brewing over longer periods - when those come to a head, they will become the main plot for a year and their climaxes run on yearly arcplot rules. It is never the case that all sessions in a year are arcplot related, to give players not interested in a specific thing something to do.
Other things they could probably do with include a safe word and establishing a way for an admin to indicate a fuck up due to glitch or mistake - probably an "ignore me" emote only admins have access to.
This all being said - the admin team want people to have fun and for it to go well, and the medium is much younger than traditional LARP. Information for their specific media does not exist, and while they maybe should look at rp for ideas they probably look at tabletop and don't even consider LARP - let alone larp styles more common in Europe. I can say things all I want, but I'm just a guy over here. The admins are trying their best and do want the best for their players, and will have a plan. It's just infuriating sometimes.

A smattering of general updates:
I played Tears of the Kingdom. I didn't really enjoy it. I understand why it was popular though; I'm just not the demographic for these types of video games anymore. I didn't find it creatively rewarding and after a time I sat there thinking 'I would rather be writing right now', and since then I have learnt that writing is made easier by doing things which are not writing, because it makes me miss it. My dad also doesn't really like it but for some reason has played hundreds of hours in it. I don't know either - I think he will take anything called Zelda at this point.
I spectated the Doctor Who David Tennant Special and watched some clips of the new season. I'm not a fan of RTD, and not a DW fan anymore (not for a long time), but it was an interesting study in how studios try to attract old and new fans.
I read a lot of books, and that lie people tell you about all books being good for you is a lie, because a cyberpunk anthology of short stories made me so angry I got heartburn. I think people who say that are saying so because they wish that they could read a lot, in which case I say, yes I think reading is a gift and we should engage with it, however, sometimes I get so physically angry from something stupid/bad I've read because bad writers exist that it gives me actual pain. I am reading Howl's Moving Castle right now and it's very joyful; I am very surprised by the liberties the animated film took! However so far I do think both experiences are worthwhile, and if you enjoyed the Ghibli film, I very much recommend checking out the original book if you want to revisit that world again. The prose is straightforward but a little whimsical, and Howl is very, very funny. I have laughed aloud a few times.
Well, you know I rewatched Dark, and it's funny that during my exile I said 'this is like if RWBY got the ending it deserves' and then, er, I found out it's not renewed yet, and that's still up in the air, which for the entirety of RWBY I have only had one true moment of doubt of such a thing, and that was a while ago.
On that topic, yes, I still ship Jaune/Cinder, believe Cinder's redemption is likely, etc., although there are some more external concerns I would wager now than before. Before I thought it very possible to do without any commercial influence, and it depends what compromises they do or don't end up making or having already made. My analysis of Jaune's arc in V9 may not hold water as much (e.g. if you lean towards the view there were rewrites to cater to growing the audience, or perhaps it's two ideas married? I'm not sure) so I'm going to think about it more, and there always has been a tension in RWBY between what is being expected/baited and what is foreshadowed/said/actually happens.
I figured out how to write again and what was blocking me, so there's that. To talk about it a bit more, since my break I have worked every single day on writing. My key takeaways are that you need a delicate balance of delusion and self-doubt to get anything done - you don't know you can do something until you actually do it - and every excuse I invented for not writing was not the reason I was not writing. I can write with a migraine beginning to set in on an uncomfortable desk where I can't even rest my elbows properly on the end of a bed with no back support without aircon in the middle of summer before I've even taken my hair out from bedtime plaits in my pyjamas. I didn't even expect to get my fic done right before midnight, actually I was like 'well lol that's not going to happen, I'll write anyway though, fuck New Year's' because I wasn't doing anything, and then I finished and looked at the time and was like ooooh. I actually completed my goal! So I'm very proud of that. Anyway writing is breathing, to me, I go crazy if I don't do it, no matter what it is, and every single piece of nonsense advice of productivity was not helpful, ever, but I did figure it out. Also admittedly I got a fire burning under me again because I found out I was actually right about Raven, in which case I took that as a sign from heaven I was on the right track. One should hope.
I am excited about Dune Part Two, yes, although I am trying to avoid Villeneuve talking about the film because I know all the marketing is basically directed at people who aren't Dune fans, and I have to see it for myself to see what it's worth. I enjoyed the first film, and Villeneuve seems excited to direct Dune Messiah, in which case I am willing to do whatever possible to make that happen. Because that's about as complete a story you're going to get in a major motion picture adaptation and it would be So Fucking Good.

Hey who wants a Star Wars/Bridgerton crossover? Too bad, you're getting one because I finished S2 the other day and I'm having Thoughts about "Regency but actual historicity only matters when it gives us cause for drama" and, of course, Ahsoka Tano.
(You probably don't need to have watched Bridgerton to understand this.)
We take some post-war no-66 AU Disaster Trio+Padme-and-the-twins and have them do a 'diplomacy' visit to a rather old-fashioned planet that was hit by Separatists (mostly they set up a base in Antarctica, but a few ships did get shot down over populated areas so...) and the sapient population is mostly humans that have been cut off from the rest of the galaxy for so long that they didn't know other planets were even inhabited, let alone so widely.
Now that they know, they'd like to trade, etc. The safest way to do that, in order to do things like 'acquire spaceships and not be raided by space pirates' is to reach out to the recovering galactic republic.
For the purposes of plot, we'll say that Earth (Terra) does have some raw materials that are useful for whatever reason. IDK. Space needs all the coal they can get for raw carbon to make bacta or some similar nonsense.
Obviously, they need to be assessed to see if they can abide by Republic law in order to be viable to trade with and gain ship access etc. This is complicated by the fact that there is not a singular planetary government, but many, many, many fractured ones. Most of the bigger ones appear to have gotten that way through imperial conquest, which is... not great. The solution is to send some senators and Jedi to make overtures to multiple governments, convince them to hold some sort of global congress (proto-UN) in order to set up at least a representative body that the Galactic Republic can interact with, in order to do things like Make America (and many others) Stop Doing A Slavery.
Padme, bringing along her former-Jedi husband Anakin (and through him, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka, who are there as The Jedi, since Anakin isn't officially a Jedi anymore, because he has a wife and children, and also some clones there as support, and a few handmaidens), is the Senator chosen to go to Regency England.
Who, since the king is... not well (he's old and has days where he thinks he's forty or thirty or twenty again, due to dementia or Alzheimer's or something), is ruled primarily by Bridgerton's interpretation of Queen Charlotte, who dresses a few decades out of style purely to be dramatic and extra af in 1800s court dress, and is also mixed race, which has led to Bridgerton-the-show's England being racially egalitarian, even though the classism is still a huge issue.
Anyway, this is Queen Charlotte:
Tumblr media
The core of the awkward plot is that in order to get Queen Charlotte to work with them, they have to play by her rules and engage with London's court games, with all the ballroom dances and promenade, etc.
Since Ahsoka is Of A Marriagable Age, she has to attend things, and dance with people, and she can't just tell people that Jedi Don't Marry (and she's a Jedi again, she's finishing her padawanhood with Obi-Wan, the war is over and she's back and she is going to be a knight, dammit) because that would ruin Queen Charlotte's fun, so she has to play along for at least a few weeks.
There is a lot of Hot Gossip about how she's... well, she's not human, sure, but her brother seems to be wealthy, so maybe the dowry is good? And for anyone who wants to explore, marrying her would be a ticket off planet! Ahsoka at one point tells everyone that any man who wants to marry her needs to beat her at fencing, arm wrestling, or straight up brawling. Anakin and Obi-Wan and Padme all approve, and the Queen thinks it's hilarious so nobody can like... stop her.
Much drama is had about her wanting to just bring along one of the troopers as her socially-necessary escort to things, because those are men! Who could take advantage of a young lady like herself! Someone does try to get her alone for an entrapment plot but when people walk in on them as planned, she's got him in an armbar and refuses to explain why but. Whatever was happening, it wasn't that kind of inappropriate.
Eventually the Queen deliberately lets slip that actually, Jedi can't marry, and all of the money in Skywalker's hands is actually Amidala's (there might be some switcheroos going on where people don't realize that Padme's the senator instead of Anakin, because gender things in Regency England, and also she's definitely swapping out with the handmaidens to get servant secrets), and so if anyone wants a dowry, it'll have to be by getting her good favor, not just Skywalker and Kenobi's.
Something something "but you're a general, Kenobi, shouldn't you be a man of wealth and taste, like all of our great military leaders?" "...we're monks." (Various marriage-minded mamas try to get their daughters into his affections. They do not succeed. Anakin eventually drops a joke that if Obi-Wan was ever going to marry, it would have been to Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore, who is definitely still alive here, and who has basically proposed to him twice, and the instances were twenty years apart, and since that hasn't happened, Obi-Wan definitely isn't marrying, ever.)
Someone asks Ahsoka whom she would marry if she did have to follow Regency England rules, where she's got to marry Up, and she lists off just. Boys that she's managed to save the lives of, since apparently she can only marry a boy with these rules.
1. Lux Bonteri (Anakin counters that she's too good for him)
2. The Prince of Mon Cala (shot down because togruta and Mon Calamari can't procreate, and an heir is necessary for Regency rules, which they are required to follow here)
3. Korkie Kryze (Anakin decides this is the least objectionable option)
Ahsoka finishes by saying that if she had to marry but didn't have to follow Regency Rules, she'd just marry, like, Rex or something. Rex gives her a fist bump for this declaration.
"Whaddaya say, Rexter, you wanna get hitched?" "Well, I don't have anything else on my schedule for tomorrow. Senator Amidala can probably officiate. Think I can get a lightsaber if I'm married to a Jedi?" "Worth a shot!"
(They don't actually get married but man do I love Rex and Ahsoka being Absolute Besties.)
There are also Bridgerton-character-specific plots in my head that probably don't make sense unless you've seen the show but I'll describe a few with hopefully enough detail to work for the people who are only here for Star Wars.
Tumblr media
This is Colin Bridgerton. He is the third son of a Viscount (though his father died, so now the Viscount is his eldest brother), and his big thing was that he wanted to go traveling. He did a trip to Greece and greatly enjoyed it. His primary role in the show is as a potential love interest for two young women, Marina Thompson and Penelope Featherington. He would be interested in Ahsoka possibly due to the opportunity to See The Stars. He's a much more genial kind of guy than most of the men we see, though there's still some casual Rich Boy moments. He's generally polite, kind, and even funny.
Tumblr media
This is Penelope Featherington. She is secretly the author "Lady Whistledown," who anonymously pens a gossip column that the ton reads religiously. She is young (mid teens, though the actress is mid-thirties) and clever, but she's a wallflower who currently has no marriage prospects. She'd be invested in the opportunity to enter a society where she can earn money etc. without it causing her to lose her status and possibly being able to do things like Inherit, which she can't in Regency England.
Tumblr media
Eloise Bridgerton! Colin's younger sister (she's the fifth child of eight) and Penelope's best friend (until an incident late in the second season), a budding activist. She's very 'baby's first step into feminism,' and she gets into a decent amount of trouble in the second season by 'consorting with political radicals' who advocate for women's emancipation, etc. She'd be very interested in Padme and the handmaidens, and learning that Padme is the chosen representative (either directly elected, or picked by an elected queen) of an entire sector.
Tumblr media
Benedict Bridgerton (second son) is an art student who is... you know what Gil's like in Paris (Girl Genius)? Like that, but for real. I don't think he has any interest in leaving the planet or marrying one of the SW cast, but he is probably pretty interested in scoring with a Nabooan handmaiden.
Tumblr media
Genevieve, the modiste. She's a dressmaker by trade, pretending to be French because the ton is fickle and people won't buy if she admits she's English. I feel like she'd strike up a friendship with Padme's team on the basis of providing guidance on what the Rules Of Propriety are in this period to the wardrobe team.
Tumblr media
The Prince (whose name I forget), a Prussian royal that is Queen Charlotte's nephew. She keeps trying to set him up with an English noblewoman so he spends more time in the country instead of going back to the continent. I don't think she'd try to set him up with a Star Wars person, but I do think it would be very funny if he falls for one of Padme's girl gang.
Tumblr media
Portia Featherington, Penelope's mother. Her family's fallen on some hard times (her now-dead husband gambled away most of their money, including the dowries), and she's very conniving and scheming and all such things in order to get her family back to a good place. She's a bitch about it, but she's also usually right, and S2 ends on a note that has her putting her daughters before everything. I'm not sure what her exact plot would be here, but getting one of the girls married off to a Star Wars person probably features.
Tumblr media
The Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton (the mother of the aforementioned Bridgertons) and THE BITCH HERSELF, Lady Danbury.
They like to matchmake (they've twice gotten one of Violet's kids married off to Lady Danbury's... charges? Her godson, and then a family she was 'sponsoring' due to a scandal from twenty years earlier).
Lady Danbury is also something of a friend? Ish? To the Queen, and one of the only people that gets to talk back and get away with it. She is magnificent.
Anyway, I think they'd be delighted with the idea of like. Joining forces with Padme and Anakin to matchmake local girls who want to Get Out Of Here with one of the clone troopers.

Do you think Saeyoung and Saeran find their way back to each other in every timeline regardless of which route the MC picks? I like to think so. But, I don’t know how that would happen lol.
If we are going by the confines of what happens canonically, unfortunately, I have to answer they do not always find their way back to each other. Is that a popular answer? It is not a popular answer, my friend.
It is also a reason why some people beat themselves up over the nonsense of "True" or "Real" Ends. I have said it once and I will say it a hundred times, there is no such thing as a definitive ending in an Otome game.
The only ending that truly matters for you is the one you get with your favorite character. You are the one that decides what happens after the curtains close. I sure hope that nobody beats themselves up over feeling like they're wrong for loving a character that's not one of the twins.
You are not wrong, my friends.
Here's the great thing about this game and many other games like it, the reality is that things aren't always going to be perfect. You're not going to get a cute little bow on every possible ending because there's always going to be something amiss in your life. At best, you'll always have some kind of conflict or this and that.
It's why you get "better" outcomes in certain routes for different characters and why other characters might be "less fortunate".
A less drastic example might be how Jumin and Zen engage with each other.
Those two are really only able to have a proper heart to heart in Zen's Route. Sure, in every other timeline, they will find some common ground and be able to be friends, but it will never be the same as it is in Zen's timeline. That's because of the way the circumstance played out. Zen was able to realize that he and Jumin not only had a lot in common—but he was projecting his older brother and the person his parents wanted him to be onto Jumin. He was only able to have that epiphany because of the severity of the situation.
As depressing as it might sound, it's one of the reasons why I enjoy the game for what it is. Because things aren't always going to be perfect and you're not going to be able to help everyone the way you want to. That's life.
Even though I play this game for escapism, it's still nice to have that reinforced because things can't always be perfect. It is a painful fact, but we can strive to do better despite all of that. Even if we get cracked and bruised along the way, all of those imperfections make us who we are. Are we really human if we're not imperfect? We are not infallible creatures. Nobody's perfect. I love these characters because they're not perfect. They make me feel better about being myself.
As difficult as it can be for me, there are just some timelines where the boys don't get to be reunited. I hate it. I don't enjoy it. But... it's just something that can happen. Do I think it's inevitable that they will run into each other? Oh, in no uncertain terms, I do think it's likely that they are bound to collide in some way, but the manner in which it happens may not always be in person, and it may not always be in good health.
Jaehee's Route? V lies through his teeth about Mint Eye and tries to sacrifice himself. Saeyoung is going to realize sooner or later that his friend lied to him and something is wrong. He'll end up at Mint Eye in the future, and he'll encounter his brother, and God knows what he'll find because we don't know how much punishment Unknown faced for failing to bring MC to Mint Eye. He already knows where the location is so it's only a matter of time.
Zen's Route? V is nowhere to be seen, to the point where Jaehee says that if Jumin can't find him, it might be time to give up. So, we know that he's been missing for a while but no such information is given on Saeyoung. He's not going to let V disappear. However, I think the outcome in this situation would be dreadful for Unknown. He got much closer than he did in Jaehee’s route, and failed. I don't know what condition he'll be in when he's found, but I know his brother will be looking for him... if he can even find him and V.
Yoosung's Route? Saeyoung's not going to leave his brother in Mint Eye. God knows how he's going to get him out of there, but hey, we know the brothers meet there and something will have to change as the curtains roll, but we are not privy to it since Yoosung and MC are not aware of Saeyoung's possible steps to save his brother. I don't know how that's going to play out. Will they be reunited or will it end poorly?
Jumin's Route? You know, there is not a lot of information on the significance of Mint Eye in this timeline. A lot of the work Unknown does is in the shadows. So, frankly, I have no idea if the boys would ever be reunited in this timeline. Mint Eye gets put to the wayside in this situation because of Glam and Sarah. I try not to think too hard about Jumin’s timeline… because of BE3, and knowing the way that Unknown feels in that situation... I fear the worst before Saeyoung has a chance to find him.
For the most part, there is a chance for the boys to be reunited, but there is no guarantee that the reunion will be a happy one.

Okay so I picked up another demo, now that I'm done with Unicorn Overlord demo. I am a wee bit late to the party on this, but decided to try Triangle Strategy. And this is. A very different experience.
I played for about an hour and a half. Approximately 10 minutes of that was the one (1) map. The entire rest of the game was scenes, and a bit of exploration. In comparison to Unicorn Overlord, which is incredibly fast-paced, this game is veeeeery slow.
The story itself isn't bad by any means. But it's also not that interesting? Like it's fine, but I'm not wowed by much. the protagonist is fairly bland, his friends are fairly bland, Frederica is cute but not particularly interesting, your dad having Old Man Disease at 40 is tragic I guess. The background cause of the war and the fact that all parties seem pretty on the level right now is the most interesting angle. But it hasn't exactly gripped me.
Which is really weird! I'm like an hour and a half in, with barely any gameplay, and despite all this story and character stuff, I have very little to say about them. I don't feel like they're any more developed than the Unicorn Overlord crew, which wasn't exactly a hugely developed group either. It's just an odd, slowly paced experience that doesn't have a whole lot to show for that.
As for the minor gameplay I did engage in, it's fine. Fire Emblem-esque grid movement, but you only attack on your turn (barring counter skills), and positioning matters. After each turn, you need to determine which way your character faces, and the direction you attack from matters, in as much as striking from the back is a sure-crit. There's elevation tactics as well, but that didn't seem to save the cav dude who got fucking annihilated when opponents got behind him and wombo comboed his ass to high hell. Was probably supposed to use healing items but it's map 1 and permadeath isn't a thing, your ass is grass dude. I admit that I think it's a little more involved than I think it needs to be, but I did at least recruit a girl whose stealth tactics are interestingly integrated by having two actions to facilitate getting behind the opponent to attack, and what I assume is the armor knight who moves less distance having the counter skill. Oh, and if you surround them, your ally that attacks from the other side will combo for bonus damage.
The...I forget what they're called. The 3 point stock things you can spend for skills. They're...odd. For characters like Frederica and butler-man, you need 2 for your special, and recover 1 every turn, so you can't do that every turn. But then you have the protagonist's delay attack, or Heal. And these are 1 point free actions. So I seem to be allowed to do this infinitely without any kind of issue. And...maybe it's just me, but nonstop infinite heal seems really fucking good, dude. it's also very...reminiscent of Octopath Traveler, in that it very, very feels like endgame is a matter of maximizing these points for a specific character to spam their big attack to deal with huge HP values on bosses.
I did take a peek at the forge system. Fun fact, I generally don't like forge systems. I dunno, man, just trade out the weapon. The system eats a lot of money, and takes consumable resources, which...okay. Depending on the availability of resources, I might hate this one. We'll see.
I still need to get more gameplay to feel like I have a sense of how the gameplay is. And hilariously, am still waiting for the story to actually ramp up. I'm guessing that will happen at exactly the moment the demo ends.

Okay I have something on my mind....!
Everyone always writes fics about Steve finding he enjoys dnd as long as he is playing with his boyfriend. That Eddie gave him that time to learn to do the things and didn't call him stupid like the kids would.
But now consider... Eddie learning about sport.
Not to play it, god no. His exercise is limited to carrying bandeqquipment and that's more than enough torture for him (absolute drama king). But Steve and Wayne will sometimes watch a sport of their choice. And well, Eddie knows Steve is not all that interested in dnd but still tries. And Eddie knows this is something important to Steve. So he wants in on the bonding time, of his own accord without anyone prompting him because he's a good boyfriend. Now, yes, Eddie did totally go to a few of their schools games, but did he learn any of the rules no of course not! He skipped gym all the time. Those events were for jock-in-shorts purposes only. And now he has his own jock sooo....
Basically, Eddie will try to engage, asking about rules, why Steve and Wayne just shouted, was that a good cheer or a kill the referee kind of cheer? And Steve will explain it all to Eddie, returning the favor of Eddie being so patient when Steve was learning dnd unintentionally. Steve is just so happy he now gets to talk sports with someone he loves, because he sure couldn't with his parents. He loves Eddie a little bit more every time he asks a "dumb" question (Steve knows better than anyone there aren't any dumb questions when first learning about something new, no matter what people say. Hence why he would be a great kindergarden teacher :D ) And Eddie will still get the rules wrong a lot of the time... on purpose!
He just loves hearing Steve talk about his passion, in his element. Finds it very sweet. And pretty hot. Because he is smitten.
Tell me they would not be this disgustingly sweet hah you can't I'm right!!!

How does the general population feel about Luz taking over as Empress?
GOD this is such a good question. had to sit on it for a few days to ponder. am STILL pondering honestly. and if i end up writing proper fic set after the transition everything i say here will likely be scrapped and/or retooled but
the first question is what luz's reputation is outside the castle BEFORE belos dies. inside the actual castle she has a reputation for eccentricity and being very weird and saying weird shit and being impossible to read due to her chaotic personality.
(she isn't even TRYING to be a Crazy Unpredictable Eccentric type. but it manages to work in her favor because no one fukkin knows what her Deal is)
she has spent very very very little time outside the palace though, and when she HAS been outside she hasn't interacted much one-on-one with the general population. so i think that it's likely that the belos propaganda machine has worked, i think he probably made an active effort to establish luz as The Chosen Human Here To Save The Realm According To The Titan's Will because.... he's an asshole enamored with colonialism and cultural genocide. and this is a great way to cement a human supremacist legacy in the isles or whatever, without ever outing HIMSELF as human
What An Asshole .
after belos's death there's about a week of extremely public succession-oriented events and whatnot that luz navigates as carefully as she can. she already KNOWS that she puts her foot in her mouth when talking to people, so i imagine she does a lot of Active Listening and notetaking when she's conversing with people. so that she can compare notes with hunter later and figure out who's an ally and who's a two-faced monster. she's already covering up a murder and all of this extra performance fucking EXHAUSTS her, but i think she's actually better at it than she expects.
like, she already knows that everything the coven heads and corporate business types say has a double or triple meaning, so she's good at keeping her cards close to her chest and not making them promises
and then when interacting with more common people she is like. WAY more engaged and active and questioning than belos had been in like fifty years combined. she's not even playing a role she's just THRILLED to get to talk to NORMAL PEOPLE for like the FIRST TIME EVER. EVERY CONVERSATION IS SO NEW AND EXCITING
so like. i think it probably varies by individual and there may be variations in different towns based on whether she's committed any major faux pas....
but my INSTINCT is that. all of the coven heads and other powerful people find her fucking terrifying because they're like. 92% sure she killed belos (she did in fact kill belos) & they can't figure out what kind of game she's playing. everything she does seems so whimsical and calculated at the same time, this girl is a social chameleon political genius, she's way more enigmatic than belos, also she will probably murder anyone who gets in her way. and then go back to smiling and chatting very friendly-like with all the survivors
(there are elements of truth here and there in all of this but.... the idea that luz is faking her weird chaotic personality or her friendliness is 100% false. she really is just that excitable and ADHD.)
MEANWHILE. the general population are of course mourning the emperor they had for 50 years, most of them are too young to remember pre-belos times so it's like. losing a universal constant. but luz already had this reputation as a ~*~*~divine chosen one~*~*~ and then she ACTUALLY SEEMS TO CARE SO MUCH AND BE SO NICE. WHAT. average boiling isles resident thinks that the new empress is awesome and if anything happens to her they'll kill everyone in this room and then themselves
as for how people react when luz starts openly implementing more anti-empire laws or undoing certain laws already on the books or forming alliances with prior fugitives/undesirables..... that's a thornier political tangle that i'd probably need to unspool in actual fic. there are too many different variables involved like the coven heads, general propaganda, outside threats, wild witches, the emperor's coven, the titan himself, the on-the-books laws, school curriculums, etc etc etc. figuring out exactly how luz interacts with these factions & exactly how she uses her power & exactly what ripple effects this causes would require a VERY detailed plot outline.

BSD Analysis: Ch. 107
(now that I've gotten the screaming out of my system.)
Okay! Lot to unpack here. Let's see what I can make of this chapter besides "oh man, next month really better pay off everything being shown here".
Beginning with Atsushi's indecision. The translations seem to have differing opinions on exactly how to take his state of mind here, but 'confused and in doubt' is a safe bet. I actually don't think we need to read too much into this. He's been given a weighty piece of knowledge (the goal of the Decay of the Angel), and he's being called on to make a decision. One which will likely have Consequences he can't predict or control. Atsushi's grown a lot over the arcs, but nearly anyone would be at least a little shaken by having to make such a decision. So it's no wonder that Atsushi's wrangling Doubts.
Akutagawa is missing his coat. The coat is the item of clothing given to him by the member of the Port Mafia that inducted him - Dazai. That he isn't wearing it suggests he's abandoned any affiliation with the mafia (or been ordered to abandon it). Alternatively, it may be a statement of rejection of Dazai, and Dazai's hold over him. (I do note that Chuuya-vamp kept HIS article of clothing, but then he kind of needs it to control his power, so I'm not sure how much to read into that.) I will, however, say that it's an interesting parallelism in the text that Atsushi is lamenting his "inner Dazai" isn't telling him what to do, at the same time we see Akutagawa lacking the symbol of his own allegiance to Dazai - the longcoat.
Cut to Sigma, who's thinking his way through everything he's just experienced. I actually don't think Sigma is off the mark in his conclusions, by the way. I think he read things correctly, even to the point of accepting that the whole thing IS a manipulation. But that's not the most interesting bit just now - that note is.
The reason the note is interesting is it made me remember this prison wasn't built just for Dazai and Fyodor to play mental chess in. There's other prisoners in here. Lots of them, rumor suggests. I am going to put forth my own crack theory here. My theory is that note has nothing to do with Gogol's game. My theory is that it came from another prisoner. Because lemme tell you I really, really want to see Leo Tolstoy turn up in this bitch and War And Peace mister Crime and Punishment. Please let me see that. I want to see that soooo much.
Atsushi and Akutagawa...but Aku's fighting is all wrong. Kinda like he WANTS to be beaten, no? What did he say? The tiger's claws can rip through the very fabric of Ability. Wonder how they'd fare against vampirism...
And on that note, Dazai! Who has survived! I doubt anyone is really surprised, although I'm sure more than a few of us had the "wait, HOW" reaction. It seems it's not been without cost; broken feet, broken legs. Probably, given the coughing, some damage to his ribs, too. And yet. He's got a little smile, and his eyes are drawn much lighter than usual. He's not unhappy with his current situation, even if there's a lot of pain in it. (Which. I mean. There has to be.) He crawled to the view of that camera. He asks for Fyodor to help him die, and Fyodor sends Chuuya to kill him.
Okay. I have to say at this juncture that I 100 percent believe Dazai is tricking Fyodor here. Playing on his own stereotype, in fact. Yeah, he hates pain, and yeah, he wants to die. And he knows Fyodor knows that - and, moreover, that Fyodor has to kill him to win the game Gogol's set up. So he is, basically, using Fyodor's own tactic in conjunction with his own methodology here. He's set up a situation that Fyodor really can't refuse to engage in, though 'refusing to engage' would be the smarter option and just as effective.
Why? I can see two good reasons right off the bat.
The first is that if he gets close to Chuuya, or Chuuya touches him in any way, there's a chance that Dazai's power will snap Chuuya out of the vampiric state. It's not a guarantee, but it's possible.
The second's the real one though - by doing this, Dazai has made sure Chuuya is not by Fyodor. Meaning Sigma doesn't have to defend himself against vamp!Chuuya to get to Fyodor (which is good, because I don't think Sigma would've survived that).
And now we've got Fyodor's little speech about "of course Dazai manipulated you". Which, lbh, Dazai totally did. But the thing that Fyodor misses here is that Dazai's manipulations aren't about forcing people to do what they don't want to do. They're about pushing people into doing things they secretly totally want to do but hold themselves back from. Sigma wants to matter. He wants to have friends. He wants to be useful. Dazai never lied to Sigma, and treated him as an equal, an ally, and basically showed Sigma that that's what Sigma wants. Not to be a flunky or lackey but a partner in a worthy cause. Sigma's choice here is his own, as is his courage. Fyodor can't believe in that, because his manipulations prey on human weaknesses; fear and greed.
We're led to believe that next month we might, might, MAYBE, find out what Fyodor's ability is. (I dunno. I kinda think he'll lie, what do you think?) Who the hell knows, y'know?

Saw mystery talk on the dash last night - Specifically about how most mysteries do give you enough space to solve it yourself, by the end - and of course my brain went to ttrpgs so i'm going to talk about that!
Because see, how to actually run a mystery in a tabletop game - usually d&d but honestly a lot of them have the same problems - has been a persistent bugbear in the medium, to the point where i've seen more than one person say "you can't run good mysteries in ttrpgs"
And like, i kinda get it? Imagine trying to do a typical gathering evidence scene, right? The GM prepares all this evidence and has the players roll to find it! Cool!
..Oops. They all rolled low. Now what? Do you have them roll again? give it to them anyway? Give up?
And like, the obvious solution is "don't have them roll for that, have them roll for other things" but sometimes you DO want to engage with the mechanics for the main premise of your game, so that doesn't really work either...
Enter: The system made for investigation. The biggest example of this is probably Gumshoe, which does operate on the logic of "yeah just give them the important clues", but still allows player input. Namely, the player has certain topics they're knowledgeable in, and if they go "I have Architecture as a skill and want to use it on this locked room" they always succeed, and you can tell them "yeah, you can see that this door is newer than the others in the building - it was replaced recently" with no chance for failure.
Which you know, i've never played and i've heard good and bad things about, but it does solve the issue!
But recently there's been another wave of mystery games, that take a very different approach. You see-
Hm. Actually. Let me start with this.
So in Blades in the Dark a core conceit is that the player characters are good at this in a way the players never will be. You don't plan, you just assume your character planned ahead - because they know what they're doing! - and do flashbacks if necessary. You don't even decide ahead of time what items you bring, you just (if you haven't hit your item limit) decide "Ah ha! I had the perfect tool for just this moment!" when needed.
And like, that does recreate the experience of watching a heist movie! Seeing these cool super badasses be hyper competent and come out just ahead against impossible odds, pulling out a surprise tool right when they seem backed into the corner!
...But a lot of people don't like that. They want to plan. They want to choose the right tools. They don't want the character to feel competent, they want to feel like they were competent. And hey, that's fair. I love Blades, but I get that.
Anyway, as I was saying before: in 2022 a game called Brindlewood Bay - about elderly women solving small town mysteries with some eldritch shit going on under the surface (seriously. and i love that concept dearly) - was released with some very... Interesting mechanics.
Because Brindlewood Bay - and the games inspired by it, usually called Carved from Brindlewood, although some games are more standard PbtA using the mystery mechanics like Apocalypse Keys - is not a game about solving mysteries, as a player.
It's a game about the characters solving mysteries, sure, but the players don't solve them because there is no solution.
The core mechanic of the game is that the players have a mystery to solve, investigate to find clues over the course of a session or two, then together the group formulates a theory and rolls to see if it's correct. Up until that point, it could've been anyone. It's only when the players succeed at the roll that it becomes true that yes, X person did it.
Which is... interesting! I mean it does fit the PbtA "play to find out what happens" ethos, that's for sure. And for non-mystery games that's not even unusual - you set up a situation and only decide what's really going on behind the scenes as it becomes relevant to the story. And it's not like the players have free reign - more clues make it more likely to succeed, it has to make sense with what's happened to far, etc.
But it's... I mean it's the same problem as Blades, but worse. Because for the kind of person who loves heist movies, "My character is cool and flashes back to their prep" and "We plan ahead and think of something cool even if it goes wrong" are both ways of engaging with the same fantasy, yeah?
But with mysteries... I mean, sure a lot of people just love to see the detective figure out something that feels impossible, but for a lot of people being able to figure it on for themself is core to a good mystery. Even if they don't actually do it, know that they COULD have is important.
Which to be clear: I don't think is actually a flaw with the game. I'm certain the creators understood that and and made a conscious decision to make this kind of game - one where the question is never "do they solve the mystery" because you know the answer will be "yes", so the fun is more "how do they get there and what conclusion do they reach" - with that in mind...
But it's still interesting, you know? I'm not surprised these kinds of games are controversial among a lot of people, since PbtA can be controversial in general among some, and stepping so far outside the core appeal of the genre for many will make it worse, but I do find them fascinating.
...Need to actually play one one day though, lmao.

oh you found a really good FE ask list, but since it would be a bit crazy to ask for every question let's go with...13, 24, 25, 31, and 37
Thanks Lore, made it myself😂
13) What do you like most about Fire Emblem?
Oh, that's... suprisingly hard to say because Fire Emblem's one of those series who's more than the sum of its parts.
But then again, I think I'd say the fandom. Or at least the niche circle I found here on Tumblr.
I found a lot of new friends here and really helped me open up at least in this space online wish i'd work irl too, but most of all... this series really opened my creativity in a way that no other piece of media ever did. Something about it feels... really approachable from a transformative standpoint.
Thanks to it I opened this blog, which led me to make lots of new friends (love you Lore btw <3), made some essays and thought pieces and most of all, I wrote fanfiction and art! Two things I always thought I was too talentless to make! And no matter what, Ill always be grateful to this franchise for me, despite how much the mainstream fandom sucks ass. Fuck 'em anyway, ignored them ever since before 3H release.
Speaking of this franchise inspiring creatvity, I always admired from afar the lovely folks at Feuniverse. The amount of hacks and fangames is astounding and I can't believe how many people made straight up fully fledged games from hacks! Maybe one day I will join her if I ever feel motivated enough. Maybe. I want to play more hacks at the very least, especially because FEE3 is one of my favorite fan events.
24) An FE title you wish would be remade?
Geneaology would be the obvious answer and don't get me wrong, I absolutely do want to see it remade and believe it inevitably will one day...
But if I have to be honest I want a rerelease of the Tellius games first because they're the hardest to play even through... illegitimate means if you're say, like me and only have an old laptop to emulate them with. Whether they'd be remakes or simple remasters, I don't really care as long as they play as they should.
25) Any general or specific headcanons you have?
Dragons have a lifespan of 100 times that of the humans.
It's never stated how much longer dragons live compared to humans, but given that Tiki is 1000 years old as a child and 3000 as an adult, i find the 100x multiplier fits really well and helps keep track of dragons' age more clearly, even if Fòdlan and Elyos dragons do seem to live longer than even that.
So by that logic in dragon years, Tiki is 10 in Shadow Dragon and in her thirties in Awakening, Nowi is 12 and Myrrh is 14.
Doesn't completely fit, but it sure helps visualize things more clearly.
31) Some moments of Fire Emblem you keep thinking of?
Speaking of the new things, um, the Twisted Joke, Engage ch11 and 17, most of the Engage endgame really. And Slayde bravely taking on a bunch of children in the Echoes prologue traumatizing the shit out of them and still getting his ass kicked (by Mycen, but still)
37) What's a weird theory or headcanon you have?
Rhea copes with her daily life through recreational drug use given that quest where she gives weed herbs to distressed students

Fazbear Frights Ranking
Now that I've read all the Fazbear Frights stories (I'm super late, I know), I decided to briefly record my thoughts on them. (under the read more)
I don't care about ridiculous premises, because if you don't engage with them, you're not gonna like the story no matter what. I don't care about lore connections, and I especially don't care about epilogue connections. I also don't notice most pacing issues if I am interested in the characters. I don't care about gruesomeness as long as I find it engaging, and I love tragic stories.
When I made the tierlist (at the bottom), I consulted the wiki for the epilogue summaries, but I can't be bothered to do that for the ranking, so just assume if it's higher it's because of Jake, and if it's lower it's because of Eleanor.
36. "The Breaking Wheel" I didn't like any of the characters, and the pacing was too slow for me to be invested. Also what's with all these advanced science classes? Did I just miss out on a common public school thing in my private school?
35. "Prankster" Jeremiah sounds like a Nice Guy, and the ending was confusing. It's also hard to take things seriously when the protagonist thinks it's a prank (I still don't know if it is).
34. "Kids at Play" What is up with the signs following Joel around? That ending came out of nowhere. At least his internal conflict is kinda interesting.
33. "In the Flesh" Matt is so hateable it's entertaining, but the plot is too dull, and the ending is just gross and pointless.
32. "What We Found" This story started off really well, and I was really interested in Hudson, but all the hallucinations made the story difficult to follow. I couldn't tell if Springtrap actually did anything or not. The second half was just so disappointing.
31. "Sergio's Lucky Day" It was kinda neat to see how Sergio became increasingly reliant on Lucky Boy, even to his own detriment well before the ending, but I just didn't like it. I can't explain why.
30. "1:35 AM" I just felt sad for Delilah, but it was also frustrating how she wouldn't even explain to Harper exactly what was wrong. The ending was also underwhelming and made my claustrophobic ass uncomfortable in a bad way.
29. "Count the Ways" I don't understand why this one is so beloved. If not for the portions showing Millie's life before she climbed in Freddy, it would be much lower. I was just distracted the whole time wondering how big Funtime Freddy, who I have always perceived as one of the smaller Freddy models, would have to be to fit a 14 year old in his stomach with enough room for her to move at all. He was also incredibly irritating to listen to.
28. "The New Kid" I was so mad at Devon for involving poor, innocent Mick in his horrible shenanigans. The springlock scene was just so terrible, and the ending was so confusing? Apparently the corpse might be Andrew, but I find problems with this, especially since I don't know for sure if Jake was Eleanor or not. If he was, that's stupid, especially since Jake didn't act malicious at any point, only Devon did.
27. "Together Forever" I always mix up this title with "Alone Together." Most of this story is just stereotypical mean girl stuff, until the gore at the end. Everyone says Fazbear Frights are super gorey, but I didn't really notice most of it. This story though. This one actually made me sick (literally not figuratively), but the last paragraph is really good.
26. "Hide-and-Seek" I could not visualize the game. If it's as big as it sounds, why is it in a pizzeria? As someone with a lot of siblings, I could relate to the competitiveness between Toby and Connor, and the ending was a pretty good message against relapsing into harmful behaviors (at least that how I interpreted it). The majority of the story was too slow for me to be invested when I didn't care much about Toby though.
25. "To Be Beautiful" Putting aside my loathing for Eleanor, this story isn't that bad. It did have a bit of gore at the end, but it wasn't nearly as bad as "Together Forever." Sarah's struggle with self-image and popularity is relatable to a young teen audience. I was moved when she made up with Abby.
24. "Felix the Shark" The first half of the story is really good, but then it drags its feet. It's not interesting to read about a protagonist putting clues together when we don't know what half the clues are. The ending was really good though.
23. "Dance with Me" Kasey's attempt to start over being thwarted by her falling back into bad habits was really realistic. I was routing for her to redeem herself. I was a bit confused by the ending though. Was the girl dancing because of Ballora, or was she dancing because she wanted to? Are we meant to know?
22. "Room for One More" I felt bad for Stanley, but I don't understand the logistics of Minireena vore. How were they spread throughout his body? That's not how ingesting things works.
21. "Gumdrop Angel" Angel's family problems were very relatable. I don't have a step-dad, but I could understand her resentment toward Ophelia for the difference in treatment. Dominic crying for Angel was a really humanizing moment.
20. "Pizza Kit" I can't really explain why I like this one so much. Maybe it's because this story was always misrepresented to me in summaries/other rankings I've seen. Payton and Marley's dynamic is exactly like my dynamic with my childhood friend, so I found Payton extremely relatable. Her death due to her own guilt was pretty poetic.
19. "Sea Bonnies" Mott didn't do a single bad thing, and he did everything he should have. It makes me so mad that he got completely overtaken by the titular creatures for literally no reason, but I like Mott and his dynamic with Rory so much that I can't put it lower.
18. "Lonely Freddy" This dynamic is kinda reminiscent of Angel and Ophelia's, but Alec and Hazel have moments of getting along, which only makes the ending more tragic. I felt so bad for Alec when he realized how badly he had messed up with Hazel.
17. "The Puppet Carver" I like how the portions of Sage's book reflect on what's happening to Jack. I don't know if Jack actually died, but it's compelling to me either way.
16. "Fetch" All the technical, scientific talk went completely over my head, but the concept was good enough, and Fetch was an entertaining enough antagonist that I can forgive it.
15. "The Man in Room 1280" I hate the lore implications for this, even as a denier of Stitchline games, because the personal hell explanation makes way more sense than a nightmare. Regardless, I really liked Arthur, and I especially liked his dynamic with Mia. It was also fun to read about the nurses trying to kill an unkillable patient.
14. "He Told Me Everything" While Chris was kinda terrible, I found him entertaining. The last bit when he realizes the Faz-Goo is going to replace him was so good.
13. "Jump for Tickets" This one gets so misrepresented. "Why didn't Colton just steal the console?" "Why didn't he just get a job?" Did you even read the story? Both questions are answered. Anyway, if not for the ending with Aidan and Colton, this would be lower, but that little bit made my heart ache, so here it is.
12. "Out of Stock" No way! A protagonist who did something bad, got his friends involved, and mouthed off to his mom, but made up for his mistakes by being brave, saving his friends, and apologizing to his mom? In my Fazbear Frights? The happy ending was well-earned.
11. "Find Player Two!" This one was just really solid, and much needed after the first two. The realization that Mary Jo's death was Aimee's fault, but not in the way she thought, only for the same thing to happen to her, was just so poetic.
10. "Step Closer" You may have noticed that I like the exploration of sibling dynamics. I like how we get a bit of the family's reaction to Pete's fate. Maybe I'm just dumb, but I've never heard of an arm transplant. Unless that's just something that's somehow possible in the FNAF world.
9. "Blackbird" This is a lot like "Dance with Me," but I think it's better executed. Not much to say here; it's just really solid. Happy for Christine though.
8. "The Scoop" A very meta story, but I quite liked it. I can see why it was scrapped though. Relatable protagonist and a bittersweet ending.
7. "Friendly Face" "Another story where the protagonist is haunted by their guilt?" Well yes, but this one is different. This time, the "threat" is real, and the last paragraph was one of the best. I actually almost cried when Jack and Faraday died since there's so much buildup, which was helped by how realistically Edward's grief was portrayed.
6. "The Cliffs" Yeah I like tragedy, but I also love a happy ending. Robert and Tyler's dynamic was just so sweet. Justice for Tag-Along Freddy though. He was just doing his job!
5. "Bunny Call" Bob was a great protagonist. Despite being annoyed by his family, he emphasizes how much he still loves them, and he's willing to put his life on the line to protect them when he realized his mistake.
4. "The Real Jake" Jake, Margie, and Evan deserved to be a happy family together dammit. This injustice will not stand. I cried.
3. "Into the Pit" This was such a good start to the series. Someone you love being replaced by some unknown thing with only you knowing the difference is a terrifying concept. Oswald's family dynamic is also really well done.
2. "You're the Band" Timmy is so me. I guess I could basically stick my comments about "Into the Pit" here, just replacing "start" with "end" and "Oswald's" with "Sylvia's." I just like it more here I guess. Also hi, Mike.
1. "Coming Home" I called that Susie was already long dead from the start, but that just meant I didn't need to reread to get a full impression, since I was already considering both sides. I wish we got more stories about the other victims, because as it stands, only the girls have any substance to them. Gabriel, Jeremy, and Fritz are just names, and that makes me sad. Anyway, this story made me cry.

I really loved your coming out fic but I was just curious if you meant the Europa League (the 2nd flight of Europe, as opposed to the top flight Champions League) or the CL when you said Europe League? Or did you mean the Euros with England? Do you imagine Jamie having played for Richmond his whole career, or moving on to other top flight teams to pursue more trophies? I would love to know what his life has looked like during that time, as well as the image of Phoebe at what must be about 18!
Also, interestingly - the UK doesn't actually enter a football team in the Olympic Games. This is not meant as a critique, but it's a fascinating factor of English football that I'm not sure many people who watch the show are aware of. The UK does the Olympics, for all sports, as Team GB, so England, Wales, Scotland and NI, but FIFA treats those countries as individuals. British football has resisted the Olympics because there's big fears that if they concede to being Team GB at football in the Olympics, it'll open the door to FIFA revoking individual country status for England, Wales and so on in other competitions. When London hosted in 2012, there WAS a Team GB at football, basically because they had to represent the national sport, but it wasn't made up of major professional players, there were like three veteran players and mostly youth players. It isn't something that pro footballers are involved in, especially because it falls the same year as the Euros. Roy, in 2012, for example, wouldn't have been in the Olympics, he would have been focused on winning the Champions League with Chelsea and then playing in the Euros with England. It's just a weird thing about English football, the Olympics is not an important part of it the way it is for other sports.
Hi, and thanks for the question!
(Also thanks for bringing football knowledge my way, it will be useful as I give said coming out fic a proper round of edits xD)
So, I know barely more than nothing around football, and my sport ancestry is a family full of basketball players, where competitions go from France Championship to Europe to World Championship, as far as I can tell (they're not pro players, though two of my cousins are angling for that) and so I figured it might be similar in football... turns out, nah xD
(Also I researched this fic for a grand total of ten minutes and five of those were spent on Mancunian grammar and accent, so. There's that :P)
All this to say, thanks again: I'll be modifying some stuff in the cleaned up fic x) Now, for the rest of your questions:
While I see why people like the idea of Jamie staying with Richmond his whole career, I can't say that's something I can really picture happening.
First of all, Jamie is competitive (as all high-level athletes are) and good enough to play with/against the biggest team, which AFC Richmond is not. It's presented as a medium club for the Premier League, and this is not something that easily changes in a perennial way, I think (both because they don't have the same resources as clubs like Manchester City (or United) to help maximise their players' potential, and because the funnel effect of bigger clubs will draw a lot of aces away.)
Second, this is a job, and Jamie has been shown to be a hard worker and fairly ambitious. Eventually, as he grows better, I think what Richmond asks of him will cease to be engaging enough for his taste, especially as the team changes with our current cast retiring or going to other clubs (Sam for example seems the type who would be happy to continue progressing as well, though of course that's probably true of all the teammates)
As to where Jamie goes...I don't think I know enough about Football to make an educated guess x) I don't think he would go back to City, if only because of the bad associations that already drove him away. I think by the time he makes peace with that, he'll probably have found another club to settle in. I do like the idea of him playing with the PSG or the Olympique de Marseille, purely because I like the idea of him spending time in my country and learning my language :P
(Also, Marseille would mean he wouldn't have to be freezing all the fucking time xD)
Poetically, I could see him ending in either Chelsea (closing the circle in his paralleling of Roy) or Manchester United (if you assume he's attached to his birth city enough to want to go back there, if not with the club he thought he would.)
Ultimately, I do think in a universe where he's in a stable relationship with Roy and Roy keeps training Richmond, Jamie would want to stay close by and probably not venture beyond Spain/Northern Italy so he could stay close to his loved one, but England is the endgame I see him work towards the most. I can still give him a stint in France so I can have him insult Richard and Van Damme in their birth language from time to time.
I do think he eventually grows close to Roy's sister (whom I named Ruth because I like the headcanon of the Kents as a Jewish family to mimic Brett Goldstein) and becomes a beloved surrogate uncle for Phoebe. My headcanon is that she remains a passionate football fan and player her whole life, and maybe even briefly entertains a professional career in the US (mostly because afaik women's football isn't as well paid in Europe, could be wrong), but ultimately decides she values the sport for its connection with beloved family rather than for itself, and remains at the amateur level.
I do think she's driven enough to actually end up a wildlife veterinarian, or her artistic aptitude (she draws those boobs real good y'all) take her in a bit of a different direction. Either way, I like to headcanon her as queer in some way, also because of the fascination with breasts, though in real life this isn't necessarily indicative of anything xD
Roy stays in Richmond, I think, unless Chelsea calls and begs him to get there. Mostly because my headcanon is that he picked Richmond as a retirement club because it's close to Chelsea and his family, and I don't think he'd want to move too far away again, especially if Ruth doesn't remarry.
This is about the extent of my thoughts on the subject tbh, although I never say never to writing more in any given universe so, who knows... we'll see if inspiration strikes xD

Scrunkore Media "Thread" 2023: Part 5
I got burnout and never got back into it so I'm hella simplifying it lol shit happens
Tumblr media
the scrunko core has burned out, rebooting
50) Wendell & Wild (Movie, 2022)
A lovingly crafted stop-motion animated movie with some good old kid-friendly horror vibes and a punky attitude, even starring a pretty nice transmasc character that I'm super happy to see. It's a nice story with a good visual style and a lot of heart, and I think Key and Peele being involved is pretty funny honestly. [4★]
51) Murder by Numbers (Switch, 2020)
Decent enough Picross game with a basic detective narrative stringing it together that I'm not really a huge fan of, but it does its job and I appreciate the adorable robot as well as some of its representation. And no idea how they got the composer from Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick, lmao [3★]
52) Pokémon Picross (GBC, Unreleased)
Yeah, this was better than the 3DS one, it's just basic Picross that doesn't do much (only real mechanic it adds is being able to change the music) but that's still better than the shitty mobile game model. They really should have just released this, it was straight-up finished and I even got a cart that works on original hardware because I think that's neat. [3.5★]
53) Paper Mario: The Origami King (Switch, 2020)
Going to be killed for playing this as my first Paper Mario but who cares, this game is cool in spite of its awkward battle system (which DOES kinda suck). Just a fun adventure with typical quirky writing and some surprisingly powerful moments, plus an excellent soundtrack, I'm sure some of the earlier games are better but I did play this one and did enjoy it. [4★]
54/55) Knives Out/Glass Onion (Movies, 2019/2022)
Incredible pair of detective movies, both full of really engaging writing and directing work that keeps you invested and never stops being entertaining to watch, surely still really good on a rewatch too. They also really fuckin' hate rich people, especially the second one which is woke as hell and has one of my favourite endings in anything, so that's what some might call "based". I can't wait to see what Rian Johnson does for the third Benoit Blanc movie, which is apparently meant to be a 2024 release. [5★]
56) Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW Comics, 2018-Present)
These are some damn enjoyable comics, telling some fun and generally quite well-written stories set after the events of Sonic Forces with a cast of really cool characters. Honestly kind of ride or die for Tangle and Whisper, but original villains like Dr Starline are great to read too. Early highlight is definitely the Metal Virus arc, but the more recent stuff with Surge was excellent too. Safe to say the team behind these stories know their shit. [4.5★]
57) Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Movie, 2023)
They really did it, they went out of their way to make a bigger and better sequel to one of the greatest animated movies I've seen, and it's very possible that they succeeded... but we won't know until the second part comes out, which looks unfortunately unlikely to be any time soon because production sucked. Still, what we did get is yet another gorgeously animated spectacle with a cool storyline, everyone knows that. [4.5★]
58) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Movie, 2023)
One of the only parts of the MCU that I cared about more or less concluded with this movie, and fuck it might be the best one in the trilogy. Rocket's harrowing backstory really hits out with that theme of some jerkass playing god, and the core adventure of the film is pretty engaging too, just as cool as ever. Plus it's now confirmed Vocaloid exists in the MCU lol [4.5★]
59) The Suicide Squad (Movie, 2021)
Another instance of James Gunn making an actual good superhero movie, this time making a good adaptation of something that previously had a bit of a shit one. I appreciate the kinda edgy nature of the titular squad that was handled solidly here, and their antics are honestly pretty funny. Fun action sequences too, and it's honestly really cool how much the movie thinks rats are awesome (they kind of are tbh). Peter Capaldi, the best version of Doctor Who, playing a mad scientist role is also just... really good. [4★]
60) Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (Movie, 2022)
Man fuck Disney, this is obviously the best version of the Pinocchio story and their attempt to overshadow it was lame as hell. I quite like the darker take on the story with themes of death and war around Italy's rise of fascism (Tom Kenny Mussolini is crazy btw), and of course the stop-motion animation is really quite excellent. Always love to see movies made in such a way. [4★]
61/62) Sonic and the Secret Rings/Black Knight (Games, 2007/2009)
Yeah, I get why the storybook duo of games have a bad reputation, because the motion control gimmicks kinda suck, but Secret Rings suffers from it far more than Black Knight, and that still has the cool ideas and solid writing combined with a great soundtrack (both games have this). Maybe the mission-based level structure isn't great, but there's some fun stuff to be found in these. Wish they were better though. [2.5★/3.5★]
