this is inspired by a Fred Weasely fic I read a long time ago and can no longer find :(

Jake Seresin did not know how to take care of his hair. That was just a fact, a quintessential reality that rang true no matter the circumstances. Whether it was the 12 pounds of gel he put in his hair every morning — practically slicking the strands back with a cement mixture strong enough to withstand a tornado — or the fact that he didn’t really believe in conditioner, Jake Seresin’s hair had not felt love a day in its life.

“I bought you shampoo and conditioner,” you gestured to one of the bags sitting on the kitchen island as you began unloading food into the fridge.

Jake grabbed one of the bottles, flipping open the cap and giving it an unsure sniff before looking at you questioningly. “I have shampoo and conditioner.”

“Your two-in-one abomination to society doesn't count.”

He pouted, setting the bottle down and moving to help you. “I don’t see anything wrong with it.”

“Well, everyone else does,” you pulled out a bottle of orange juice from the grocery bag. “And I cannot keep defending you when they say you don’t know how to shower.”

“Who’s saying that?” Jake scoffed. “I think you’re the only person who cares this much about my hair, angel.”

“I’m the one sticking up for you,” you protested. “Even Rooster thinks he has better hair than you.”

Jake wrinkled his nose at the thought. “That’s just not true. Pretty sure I saw him scream when Phoenix accidentally put her hairbrush in his locker.”

“See,” you elongated the vowel. “You gotta have better hair than Rooster, baby.”

He plucked the bag off the counter and handed it back to you. “I already do.”

“Please, Jake?” You pouted at him softly. “I just want to be able to play with your hair.”

“I already let you play with my hair,” he argued.

“Yeah, but,” you shuddered, “it’s all crusty and gross. It’s like running your hands through dried pasta.”

Jake let out an offended squawk. “That’s so rude. This is why I don’t agree to do these things.”

“Baby,” you ignored him, trying a different approach as you wrapped your arms around his neck. “To wash your hair, you need to shower.”

He furrowed his brows. “Well, yeah angel, that’s kinda how it works.”

“And I wouldn’t want to shower with my clothes on.”

“Oh— Oh!” His eyes lit up in realization. “You know, I’ve thought about it and I think you’re right. My hair could use a wash. So could your hair actually. And your boobs, now that I’m really thinking about it. And—”

“Jake!” You let out a laugh, securing your grip on the grocery bag and making your way to the bathroom.

You didn’t even have to look behind you to know that Jake was following you.

“There’s something different about Hangman.”

You turned to look at Penny, who was sitting in a lawn chair close to your towel, watching the group of aviators who had begun a game of dogfight football.

“What do you mean?” You lifted your sunglasses up to get a better look at your boyfriend.

“I don’t know…” Penny trailed off. “He just looks—”

“Oh,” you turned to her excitedly. “It’s his hair.”

“Yes! That’s what it is, it’s his hair.”

“Yeah,” you set your sunglasses back on the bridge of your nose, now feeling a smidge more proud of yourself. “I switched up his hair care routine.”

Penny laughed. “That bad, huh?”

Before you could tell her just how bad it was, Jake let out a loud holler.

“Babe, will you grab my shirt!”

The brief eclipse of clouds had passed, meaning the sun was beating down relentlessly and you yourself were grateful for the umbrella Jake had set up for you before he joined the rest of the group. You moved to grab his shirt, shooting Maverick a smile as he jogged over to seemingly sneak off with Penny, before getting up and making your way over to Jake.

“Seriously?” He gave you a look, holding up the light gray shirt— though now it was more dark gray, you’d forgotten you’d used it to dry off your hair after your dip in the ocean.

“Oh, did I accidentally use your shirt to dry my hair?” You looked at him innocently. “Meaning you’ll just have to walk around without a shirt? What a shame.”

Jake froze, processing your words with a blink. “What are you doing?” He questioned you slowly. “I’m the one who’s supposed to do things to try and get you naked, not you. Take it back.”

He lunged at you when you shook your head, only just missing you as you exclaimed, “Jake Seresin, I wanna see your rippling pectorals every day of my life!”

“No, stop it!” Jake tried — and failed — to hold back his laugh. “And don’t say pectorals. What is wrong with you?”

You couldn’t hold back your giggles as you took off down the beach, Jake’s thundering steps sounding off behind you. You’d made it back to your towel before he caught up to you, wrapping his arm around your waist and setting you on your towel before falling on top of you. You let out a soft grunt, but relaxed as he made himself more comfortable on your chest. Wrapping his arms around your waist, Jake lifted his head to look at you.

“How dare you objectify me like that,” he teased you.

“What do you mean?” You laughed quietly, happily threading your fingers through his now much softer hair. “Am I not allowed to love up on you?”

“I can think of other ways we can love up— Mmm.”

Your hands fumbled in his hair and you looked down at Jake in startled surprise. He hardly noticed, his eyes closed in satisfaction. If Jake was anything, he was a menace. For him to stop mid-innuendo? It was unheard of. Testingly, you wrapped a finger around a strand of his hair and pulled softly. He made the noise again.

“Oh my god,” you breathed. “You do have an off button.”

If Jake was aware of your teasing, he didn’t react — yet another thing that Jake did not do — instead letting out a soft sigh as you scratched his scalp. You bit back a smile at the way his grip tightened on your waist, eyes closed and features looking so content as the only sounds that fell from his lips were soft noises of enjoyment. You hardly noticed Rooster coming over to the two of you, Phoenix and Bob not far behind him.

“Did losing to our team really tire you out, Hangman?” Rooster teased and you felt slightly embarrassed at the intimate position they all found you in, but no one else seemed to mind— least of all Jake.

“Don’t know why you’re bragging about being faster on the ground than in—”

Your fingers scratched lightly on his scalp as he moved to get up and Jake practically melted right into you again.

Rooster raised his eyebrows in surprise and you understood his alarm. Starting shit with Bradley was Jake’s favorite pastime. “What?”

“I said, you’re fucking slo—�� To further test your hypothesis, you moved your fingers to muscles of his neck, massaging them softly. Almost immediately, Jake’s face lit up in a blissful smile, whatever insult he was attempting to hurl at Rooster forgotten.

“What’s wrong with him?” Phoenix whispered loudly to Bob, the WSO just lightly shrugging in his own version of shock.

Rooster looked at you accusingly. “Did you tranquilize him?”

You raised your eyebrows at him.

“Leave my girl alone, Bradshaw,” Jake grumbled from on top of you. “It’s not her fault you have the voice of a ban—”

His last word — banshee you assumed — got lost in a soft sigh as the pads of your fingers moved to his temples.

Phoenix almost looked in awe of you, “Can we take you everywhere we have to be with him?”

You let out a soft laugh at the way Bob hastily nodded next to her, Jake’s grip tightening on your waist.

“I agree. You should be with me all the time and never be away from me ever.”

“Okay, I’m gonna be fucking sick,” Rooster let out a melodramatic gag, turning to head back to the beach and away from whatever had happened to his sort-of-rival-sort-of-friend. “But thank you for your service, Y/N. You’re stronger than the Marines.”

You laughed, rolling your eyes playfully at his antics, but when Jake looked up suddenly, eyes full of enamored love for you, everything else quickly faded into irrelevance.

“See how nice it is when you take care of your hair?” You teased him softly.

Jake smiled in agreement. “‘S nice.”

Then he was relaxing back on your chest, closing his eyes as the shade of the umbrella, the sounds of the ocean, and your hands in his hair lulled him. It was quiet for a moment— long enough for you to think he might have actually fallen asleep.

“I have better hair than Rooster, right?”

Wrapping one of your fingers around another blond strand, you smiled. “You have the best hair, baby.”

What do you think about Canon's idea of nations having their own special nation language?

Thanks for the question! Personally, I don’t really vibe with it at all? Genuinely no shade at all to anyone who enjoys it; I can see how conceptually, it’s playing with the idea that nations are different from humans and have some things in common. I’m sure there are many ways to be creative and thoughtful with it. I do think there are other ways nations have things in common and feel other nations ‘get’ them more than humans. But to me it shouldn’t be an actual language—and the idea of a universal language personally doesn’t gel with the type of historical hetalia I usually explore.

The acquisition of a language, who is or is not understood, or who has to learn which languages, is inseparable from power, imperialism and the socio-political relations between nations. I don't take this approach because 'no fun magic allowed in fandom' (because nations are magic and magic is fun) but because I think linguistic difference is fascinating to integrate into nation relationships and adds many human layers to the characters. Linguistic dominance (or erasure) is such a tool of empire; we only need to look at how the British Empire privileged English at the cost various languages all across the empire, from Welsh to Māori. Or how the Spanish did over Nahuatl in Mexico and so on. Since empire is a theme I’m interested in exploring in hetalia, the existence of fictional universal language that provides nations with an alternative forum to be heard and understood…rather detracts from the human, historical reality, imo, of how the ability to speak or write and be listened to is inherently unequal. This is an aspect of humanity that I don’t want nations to be exempt from experiencing, particularly when language is such a key part of their being—like I headcanon that one of Alfred's first languages wasn't just English but Carolina Algonquian, the language of the Croatan people at Roanoke, which Arthur did not speak, and that difference was one divide between them as colony and empire—Arthur certainly Anglicised Alfred's education and exerted power over him that way once he claimed him as his 'son'.

Further, if anything, I feel like the “universal language” is just…a bit redundant and not as compelling, when in historically, there are specific lingua francas that have existed for one reason or another, between countries. Which we can explore. And the politics of that ^nicely encapsulates the history of cultural exchange and power dynamics. For example, between the East Asian nations—it’s classical Chinese. Kiku and Yong-soo learned how to write in Yao’s language because he was powerful and culturally dominant. To me, it’s significant if Kiku and Yong-soo could not actually make Yao understand until they learned his language, and he, conversely, could elect to ignore them. There was no universal language they could use (save of course, general human expressions and body language lol—which are not quite sufficient for the specifics of diplomatic relations, trade…and peace treaties). I do think Yao’s a seasoned polyglot who finds learning languages entertaining, and he does eventually learn Korean and Japanese—but the point remains that who gets to be the lingua franca and why such lingua francas exist in humanity, are compelling to explore.

And so all that’s something I want nations to directly partake in and experience just as humanity did, with no convenience of a universal nation language existing at all, in shaping their interactions with one another. It’s just more interesting anyway, for me to think of Alfred and Kiku speaking Dutch because of his long term relationship with Jan (and in real life, that’s the bridge language the Perry Expedition used).

Lastly...for me the notion of a universal language (not just a sixth sense or instinct) that all nations, big or small, colony or empire, are born knowing without having to learn, and with which they can understand every other nation—imo, detracts from the human reality of how all languages are deliberate constructions created and given meaning by a specific community’s cultural context. My two primary languages are from drastically different language families. Even the way I think and to some extent, see the world, is consequently somewhat different whether I am expressing it in English or Mandarin Chinese. Two totally dissimilar writing systems, with no common origin—English belongs to the Germanic branch of the Indo-European family, Mandarin on the Sino-Tibetan. That’s not to say they cannot both co-exist in my head—they definitely can. English and Chinese have mutually incorporated words from each other. But all languages ultimately make sense only in the context of a cultural community that the user is in contact with or at least has exposure to, even if only third or fourth-hand through written materials rather than a native speaker. Even non-verbal languages like sign language—it’s different in different countries. Language isn’t like being born with a sense of smell or touch; it is so much more specific than that, and how it's acquired is such a vital aspect of humanity that I just want these eldritch fucks to experience the same way that we humans do. I hope that explains my take on it!

A/N: Hiii, thanks for sending this request...so sorry for the delay!! I hope you like it. I have to be honest though, idk how i feel about this (this = my writing today lol). 😘

Matty was standing in front of the mirror hanging on the bedroom’s wall. Y/n’s eyes following every one of his movements carefully.

He had to attend an awards show, to which Y/n was invited, although her period decided to show up that morning and her pains during that time were really painful. Attending a show wasn’t in her ideal plans for the day. Her boyfriend understood after a one-hour-long discussion. Matty threatened her about skipping it and spend the night with her in bed.

“Hate this.” Matty mumbled, applying gel to his hair.

“Are you going to have fun and not think about me, right?” Y/n lift herself to rest back on the headboard.

“I’ll try…” he said, side glancing at her. His curls were hard to tame.

She protested, “Matty.”

“I’ll be back early.” Matty stated, combing his hair all the way back. Y/n scrunched her nose, annoyed with his answer.

“I’ve told you, you don’t have to! I promise I’ll be okay.”

Matty turned around, with his white shirt tucked inside his black pants, showing his upper chest because his shirt wasn’t completely done. Y/n stared up at his hair shining wet under the bedroom lights.

“I’m a different man now. I have a girlfriend to come home to.” he winked at her, going back to his task in hand. She was aware he would be texting her constantly to check how she was feeling, stressing over her feeling bad.

Y/n moved slightly, uncomfortable. “You should go and celebrate with the boys, I know it’s going to be a big night for you guys.”

“What if I want to come and cuddle my hot girl instead?”

“Why you hide your curls?” Y/n decided to drop the party topic

Matty took one last glanced at his hair, checking everything was as he wanted. He moved to sit on their bed.

“I look bad?” he reached for her hand.

Y/n brought it to rest her face on his palm. “No…of course not.” his handsome man. “I just hate that hair gel.” her voice full of disgust.

“Why?”

“Because I want the mop.”

“I look like a child who doesn’t know what a comb is when I set them free…” he explained.

“Liar.”

“And they’re reserved for you.” Matty approached his face to hers, taking Y/n’s lips in a sweet kiss.

Y/n mumbled, “Double liar.”

A week later.

Matty was running around the house, worried he was going to arrive late to his early meeting. The last thing on his list was taming his wild hair, even though the gel hair was nowhere to be found.

“Y/n?” he shouted from the bathroom, down on his knees searching under the sink. Nothing.

“Yes?” replied from under the blankets.

“Have you seen my hair gel?”

Y/n tried to sound really innocent, “No.” failing miserably.

She heard his heavy steps, appearing in the bedroom door.

“Y/n…” he arched his eyebrows at her.

“What?”

“Give it back.”

“I don’t have it!”

“Y/n, come on…I have to go.”

She tried to change her strategy, “You look good.”

“Y/n Y/l/n.”

“I swear…” Y/n started laughing without being able to avoid it. “I don’t have it!”

Her sweet laugh making Matty chuckled loud.

“Okay, you asked for it.” he rubbed his hands, jumping into the bed. Y/n giggled trying to escape his tickles. “Tell me where is it.” Matty insisted.

“I- Stop! Matty!”

“Just tell me!”

“I threw it away, it’s long gone!” Y/n finally admitted.

Matty stops, prompting himself above her form. “For real?”

“For real.” Y/n said, taking a big breath in.

“Y/n!” he complained.

“I don’t feel bad about it! You look better like this.” she let her hands reach his messy hair.

Matty fell all the way down on top of her, speaking on the skin of Y/n’s neck, “Can’t believe you.”

“Fans are going to thank me later.” she said, proud of herself.

“Don’t think so.”

“Oh, mister. You don’t know what your fans want…”

“I do!” Matty fought back, backing up to stare at her eyes.

“Are you going to keep the curls free? Let them breathe.” Y/n pouted visibly, trying to convince him.

“Are you serious about this?” Matty brushed her hair back.

She nodded, “Very serious.”

“Okay then.”

“I love you, Matty.” Y/n hugged him.

He pinched her hip,“I love you, curl enthusiast.” Y/n answered with a belly laugh.

A bunch of clones visit a horse farm

Don’t ask me why I’m writing this. I just am. I love clones and horses.

This got long, so whoops. Thanks @kixs-husband for letting me bounce this around yesterday. You get a special shout out.

- Tech immediately notices someone trimming their horse’s hooves, comes over to them and starts asking how they know how much to trim off and asks detailed questions about hoof anatomy

- Hunter picks up a hoof knife and tries to twirl it. He spends the whole day trying to learn this because hoof knives are balanced differently and he likes a challenge.

- Kix notices a cute boy brushing a horse and wants to say hello, but is distracted Fives walking in a random horse’s stall. The stall has a caution sign on it.

- Wrecker is obsessed with how much food a horse gets to eat every day. It happens to be lunch time and he helps feed hay to the horses. He loves the way their muzzles feel on his hand.

- Omega tries to make friends with each horse, but really starts to bond with the oldest horse on the farm

- Crosshair watches everyone from a corner of the barn. He’s approached by the grumpiest cat on the farm and makes friends with him.

- Fives convinces Echo that it would help everyone if they filled grain buckets and fed the horses dinner. Echo holds the buckets while Fives fills them, not really knowing who gets what despite directions being clearly marked on the white board in the grain room

- Hardcase opens a medical locker for equine emergencies and picks up a box with a tube in it. Instead of reading what it is, he opens the tube of Dormosedan gel and decides he has to touch it. “This gel feels so cool!” is the last thing he says before passing out. Kix runs over, picks up the box the tube came in, and reads “For sedation of horses” before he rolls his eyes and tries to prop Hardcase up.

- Dogma and Tup take their time meeting the quietest horses. They decide to brush all the horses. Tup is particularly good with manes and tails.

- Omega wants to go on a horse ride and so a horse is saddled. Tech grills this person on the details of saddle fitting and takes notes.

- Everyone is jealous that Omega gets to ride the horse (except Kix who is busy) so more horses are saddled.

- Fives wants his horse to go fast. He immediately has regrets.

- Hardcase starts to wake up and Kix makes him drink some water before dousing him with the hose for being such a pain in the ass.

- Hardcase also insists he can ride despite still having horse sedative in his system

- Crosshair pretends he doesn’t want a ride but rolls his eyes and gets on at Omega’s continued prompting and admits to not hating it

- Gregor giggles around a horse and then gets worried that the horse will spook at the sound. He then finds out that horses can learn certain sounds are comforting and by the end of the day, the horse he’s with has learned to relax at the sound of a giggle because it means kind pets and a nice person is near

- Rex is napping in the hay loft

- At least half of the farm workers flirt with Howzer

- Jesse puts a fly mask over his head and chases Omega around

- Before they go, Hardcase gives Kix a hard time for not asking that cute boy out on a date. “Why haven’t you asked him yet,” Hardcase drowsily complains. “Because I’ve been taking care of you, Hardcase!”

- Kix manages to approach said boy. “Sol, right?” He’s super nervous, but he’s not going to let his day be totally ruined and takes a chance. “Do you wanna go get dinner sometime?” (The answer is yes, of course)

- Echo calls the farm later to confirm that none of the horses have colicked due to overfeeding

Undead Honeymoon - The end

Pairing: Husband!Levi x Wife!Reader

Genre and tags: Modern AU, married life, honeymoon, zombies, gore, survival, fluff, romance, dad Levi.

Concept: You and Levi get to see a scan of your baby as you wait to leave the Island. You suffer from a nightmare months after being on the island and Levi provides you with comfort and a surprise. You go to the wedding of your best friends and talk about the healing process after what happened.

No tagging due to zombie fics not being for everyone.

You sat on the deck of the hut as you watched Levi talking on the phone with his mother for the one-hundredth time since the phones came back. You smiled as he kept talking to her and winked at you. You were happy you were going home soon, but you were stuck in quarantine for a bit. The island was being cleaned up of remaining zombies and the last of the survivors elsewhere were being picked up and sent somewhere safe.

Erwin had explained to the scientists and army who came what had happened here. He let them know every single thing except for the experiments to make more people like Levi and Zero. You and Levi faced facts that it was likely you were changed forever, but the scientists were interested in helping you both. Erwin was glad that nothing bad would happen to you and Levi. He just wanted peace for everyone.

You lifted your head when you heard someone moving closer. You stood up and walked inside the hut to see the scientist who regularly tended to you and Levi. “Hello, Dr Reed.”

Reed smile at you as she held a case with her. “Hello, Mrs Ackerman. How are you today?”

“Well.” You sat down on the sofa. “I am worried about a few things. We’ve been here a long time before you and after. I just…I don’t want to be an experiment and Levi doesn’t want to either.”

“We’ve promised you both that we’ll never hurt you. We want to help cure you both. The virus elsewhere has been cured, but you two are different and the things here have a twisted version of the virus in them. We just want to help you.” She smiled and opened the box. “I have something fun for you!”

“What is that machine?”

She smiled. “Well, you can have your first scan. Want to see your baby?”

You welled up. “Yes! LEVI!”

Levi sprinted into the hut. “Who hurt you!?” He held his breath when he saw your tears. “Who made you cry? I’ll kill them!”

“Levi, I’m okay.” You held your hand out to him. “Come here. Do you want to see our baby?”

He sat next to you with tears in his eyes. “Yes!”

You turned on the sofa and lay back so you used Levi’s lap as your pillow. You dragged your shirt up to reveal your baby bump. “Ready.”

Dr Reed put the gel on your stomach before she ran the sensor over your belly. “All right, let’s find the little one.” She gazed at the screen and grinned. “There they are. I won’t be able to see their sex yet, but they are looking very healthy.”

Levi grabbed your hand and squeezed tightly. “Look at them.”

You welled up and touched the screen. “Baby…”

“They’re so cute and small.”

Dr Reed hummed a laugh. “Actually, they are a bit big for what they’re supposed to be. I guess you’ve been keeping well and it is likely due to your husband’s genes.”

You blushed a little. “Sounds like it.”

She cleaned you up and packed the machine away. “We’ll get a better look at them next month.”

Levi frowned. “Next month?”

She smiled a little. “Because of what you are, Mr Ackerman, we need to keep a close eye on your baby and wife. It’s mainly for their health.”

Levi nodded and helped you sit up on his lap. “I understand.”

She picked up the kit and smiled. “I’ll leave you both alone.”

“Thank you. Oh, do you have an update?”

She walked to the door and paused. “Looking at two more weeks here.”

“Seriously?”

She leaned against the door. “I know, it’s frustrating but we have to make sure that everyone left isn’t infected. It’s looking good for you all and the plant that caused this all? It is being destroyed.”

Levi rose to his feet and approached her. “Can you assure me that they won’t use it in the future?”

“Yes. This zombie outbreak destroyed a whole island in a single day. It’s too powerful to control.”

“Good.” He released a long sigh. “Because I will rip apart anyone who uses it.”

“Mr Ackerman, we’re all well aware of what you can do and honestly? A lot of us fear you. So, if you don’t want this drug getting out and us using the virus, we won’t.”

You hummed a laugh and made Dr Reed jump; she hadn’t noticed you sneaking up on her. “Good, I’m glad we all understand because he’s not alone.”

“I understand.” She bowed to you both. “I will see you both soon.”

You held her hand in both of yours. “Sorry if we scared you, it’s just we’ve spent months here and we’ve seen what these things can do and we almost lost each other.”

Dr Reed smiled. “It’s okay. I know you two are my friend and you’re just worried for others.” She opened your door and waved. “See you soon, you two.”

You waved as she left you and Levi alone. “Bye-bye!” You hummed a little before turning to Levi. “We should check on the others.”

Levi picked you up. “No.”

You squeaked as he kicked the door closed. “Levi.”

“No.”

You pouted. “Leviiiii.”

He carried you to the bedroom. “No.”

You huffed a little. “Come on, Levi.”

He threw you on the bed and admired how you bounced. He crawled up the bed and smiled as you gasped a little. “Worry not, little honeybun. I’m not going to ravage you.”

You frowned. “Then what are you up to?”

He lay between your legs and held your waist. “I want to talk to our baby.”

You played with Levi’s hair. “Talk all you want.”

He kissed your stomach. “Hey, my little muffin, it’s daddy.” He nuzzled your stomach. “I know you’ve been through a crazy time, but we’ll be going home soon and you’ll be safer there. You blushed a little. “Thank you.”

He leaned up and gazed at you. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

He kissed your belly again. “Don’t hurt your mummy too much when you arrive, okay?” He released a long sigh. “You know, I can’t wait to meet you. I’m looking forward to holding you and showering you with kisses. I’ll dress you up in all the cute clothes. You’ll have lots of toys. We’ll go on so many adventures. We’ll go swimming, fishing, camping and everything you could dream of.”

You smiled. “Don’t spoil them too much, we don’t want a spoiled brat on our hands.”

Levi pouted a bit. “Just a bit of spoiling.”

“Levi.”

He crawled up your body. “Tiny bit?”

You hummed a laugh. “Tiny bit.” You grabbed your phone and smiled at the messages from your mother and Kuchel, both had been buying baby things for you and Levi. “Speaking of spoiling.” You turned your phone around. “Look at what my mum and yours have sent me in the group chat. They made a baby group chat and filled it with pictures of things they’ve bought.”

Levi took your phone and chuckled. “They look amazing. A lot of bunny-themed things.”

“Well, you do call me bunny and honeybun, so that probably inspired them.”

He locked your phone and kissed you. “Because you’re cute like a bunny.”

You cupped his face. “Two weeks and we’re home.”

“Yeah.”

You flopped back on the bed and hummed. “I know it’s strange to say, but I will miss it here.”

Levi rested his head on your breasts. “I will miss it as well. We’ve been through so much here that it became another home.” He pressed his face into your chest more. “I do really want to go home though and set up the baby room and then go shopping for a house where we can raise our many babies.”

“That sounds like the perfect plan.”

Levi kissed you and sighed through his nose. “I love you.”

You wrapped your arms around him. “I love you too.”

Levi purred a little. “Honeybun?”

You hummed a laugh when Levi started covering your neck and chest in kisses, his semi pressed against you. “Sweetheart? Are you hungry for me?”

Levi moaned against your skin. “I crave you.”

“Then have me.” You smiled at him. “I’ve been desperate for you all day.”

You sat up in bed and screamed as you were surrounded by zombies biting at your flesh. You kicked and fought as much as you could. You screamed and cried out in pain as you felt the bite on your shoulder over and over again. You pressed your hand on your big baby bump and dove off the bed and slammed onto your side. You tried to crawl away but a zombie crawled onto your back and bit you over and over.

“LEVI! HELP ME!” You reached back and smacked the zombie. “HELP!” You screamed in agony. “MY BABY!” You curled up into a ball to protect your baby. “LEVI!”

Levi woke up at the sound of you trashing around. He sat up and groaned a bit from being pulled from sleep. He looked over at you to see you moving around in bed and then falling out. He shouted your name and dove for you. He grabbed you and shook you, but you were out like a light and you were sweating as you cried and screamed.

Levi cradled you in his arms and rocked you. “Come back to me.” He kissed your forehead. “Come back to me.”

Your eyes flew open as you gasped. You stared up at the dark room and felt tears sting your eyes. You shifted your gaze and looked at your husband. “Levi.”

Levi wiped your tears away. “I’m here. I’m right here.”

You shivered. “They were everywhere. The zombies. They bit me.”

He hugged you tightly. “They’re all gone, my sweet. We’re not on that island anymore. We’re home.” He kissed your temple. “We’re safe.”

You whimpered a bit. “N-No we’re not. We’re back there.”

Levi picked you up and carried you to the wall with ceiling-to-floor windows. He pressed the panel on the wall making the dark colour in them go and allowing you to see the city you lived in together. “Look, we’re home.”

You stared out at the city. “Home…”

“That’s right.”

“But, this could be a dream.”

Levi carried you through the dark penthouse to a room filled with baby things. “You’re safe and at home.” He sat you in the nursing chair and walked over to the drawers with the clothes in. He picked up a onesie and handed it to you. “See?”

You played with the onesie. “Oh…oh…” You welled up. “Home.”

Levi knelt before you. “You are safe.” He placed his hands on your big baby bump. “So is our baby.”

You placed your hand on your belly and smiled. “Yeah…” You looked up at Levi and felt love surge through you. “Levi.”

He smiled and leaned up. “I’m here.”

You slipped off your seat and wrapped your arms around Levi. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be.” He squeezed you. “You’ve helped me through nightmares too.” He released a long sigh. “It doesn’t help that people keep reminding us of the past with people following us around.”

You nuzzled up to Levi. “Mm, I wish they’d go away.”

“Me too.” He sighed. “Want to have some hot chocolate and watch some movies?”

You nodded. “Yes. Oh, I need help getting up.”

Levi put his hand under your armpits and lifted you and placed you on your feet. “There you go.”

“Thank you.”

He held your hand and pulled you along to the bedroom. “Sit and I’ll make the hot chocolate.” He handed you the remote. “Put something fun on.”

You squeezed the remote. “Umm…”

He kissed your temple. “I’ll put a light on for you.”

You blushed a bit. “Mm…thank you.”

Levi flicked on the bedroom light. “It’s safe.”

You nodded as you looked around. “Yes.”

“I’ll be in the kitchen.”

You waved to him. “Okay. Love you.”

Levi winked at you. “Love you too.”

You giggled as he walked away. You slipped out of bed and raided the walk-in closet. You swapped your dress for a shirt of Levi’s and paused a moment when you caught your reflection in the mirror. You pouted when you saw your seven-month belly stretching Levi’s shirt. You shifted out of the closet and climbed back into bed. You browsed the few apps you had and found a fun movie both you and Levi loved and never failed to make you laugh together.

Levi returned to you with a tray. “I’m back. Did you pick something good?”

You nodded. “I picked one we love laughing at.”

He sat on his side of the bed and placed the tray down. He kissed your neck a few times before he noticed what you were wearing. “That my shirt?”

“Yeah.”

“It looks delicious on you. I could just eat you up.”

You pouted a little. “I’ve stretched it though.”

He frowned at your words. “You have? How?”

You pulled at the top. “Baby belly.”

He stared at how the shirt stretched over the baby bump. “Cute.”

“It’s not cute.”

“It is.” He pulled you close and held you. “I love it.”

“But it’ll forever be stretched.”

He grabbed your hot chocolate for you. “I like that because when I look at it in the future I’ll forever be reminded of you being pregnant.”

You sipped your drink and hummed in delight. “You’re so sweet to me.”

He kissed your cheek. “I’m just madly in love with you.”

“Me too.”

Levi placed his hand on your belly as you watched TV. He smiled as he felt his daughter move against his hand. He couldn’t believe he’d be meeting his precious daughter in two months. He was so happy and excited to be home with you. He hugged you tightly as he felt joy and happiness consume him about being with you and soon being a father. He kissed and nipped your neck and then nuzzled against you.

You changed to the normal TV and saw the news talking about you and Levi, yet again. You sighed and felt tired but then they mentioned the Island and how they were going to bring life back into it and make it a holiday place and a large part a memorial site for those who passed away. You fought tears when you saw a long list of names on the screen of those who died on the Island.

Levi kissed the side of your head. “I’m glad they’re going to do something with the Island.”

“Me too. Sadly, a lot of people died there, but I am glad that they’re not going to lock up the Island and throw away the key.” You put your cup down and sighed. “I have to remember what our therapist said, it’s okay we survived.”

“You’re right.”

You yawned. “I think I’m okay now.”

Levi shifted on the bed and held you against him as he lay down. “I’ll be right here all night long, okay?”

You smiled and snuggled closer. “Yes, Levi. Thank you.”

Levi played with your hair and smiled a little as he felt you drift off. He fell asleep not long after you. He woke up early and saw you had a gentle smile on your face as you slept, meaning you were having a nice dream. He gave you a loving kiss on the cheek before he went about his special day. He made sure the home was clean before he put up the cute decorations for the little party he had planned for you.

He hurried to the door when he heard the bell. He opened it and smiled at Erwin and Kate. “Hey both, good to see you.”

Kate lifted a box. “We brought lots of food.”

Erwin lifted a bag. “And gifts.”

Levi blushed a little. “Oh, you didn’t need to, but thank you.”

Kate slipped her shoes off and hurried inside. “I’ll help you set everything up as well.”

Erwin winked. “I’ll greet the guests. You go wake up your wife.”

Levi blushed hard as he thought about you. He loved that you were his wife. You were his world and he was so lucky to be married to you. He moved into the bedroom and just felt himself swell with love as he looked you over in bed. He released a long sigh and moved closer to you. He sat on the bed and played with your hair as he admired you. He leaned closer and covered your face in kisses.

You hummed a laugh as you woke up. “Morning Levi.”

“Good morning.”

You sat up and sighed. “Thank you for last night.”

“No need to thank me, okay? I’ll do anything for you, you know that.”

“I do.”

He got off the bed and picked a cute dress for you and some comfy underwear. “We have a fun day today.”

You got out of bed and hummed a laugh. “You been plotting things?”

“I have.”

You giggled as he helped you change. “Exciting.” You smiled as Levi helped you change. “I can change on my own.”

He shook his head. “No, I’m helping.”

“Thanks.”

He wiggled your dress on before kissing you. “Perfection.”

You hummed a laugh. “Thank you.”

He sat you down and started combing your hair. “You look wonderful.”

“I look tired, but I appreciate the kind words.”

He helped you stand and held you. “You look more beautiful than you realise.”

You squeezed Levi back. “Thank you. You’re so incredibly handsome.”

He whined. “Thanks.”

You put your slippers on. “So, are we going out?”

Levi held your hand and pulled you along. “That’d be telling.”

You pouted. “Levi.”

He said your name back at you with a little smirk. “Patience.” He pushed you along. “Trust me, okay? You’re going to love this.”

You let out a long sigh. “Uh-huh.” You stepped into the living room and flinched when everyone shouted surprise. “What in the world?”

Kate hugged you. “Levi put this together. It’s like a wedding redo again and a baby celebration!”

You laughed and looked over at Levi. “This is…thank you.”

Levi pulled you close. “We didn’t get much to celebrate in those months there, so I thought we’d get some sense of normal again.”

“It’s amazing. Thank you so much.”

Your mother tackled you into a hug. “I can’t believe how wonderful this is. I’m so glad we’re all together again. Levi is so amazing to plan this.”

Levi blushed. “Thanks.”

Kuchel flapped her arms. “BABY!”

Sebastian pulled her back. “Calm down.” He chuckled at his wife’s pleading look. “I know you’re excited, but a bit at a time, okay? They’re recovering.”

You opened your arms to Kuchel. “Hug?”

Kuchel hugged you tightly. “I’m so happy for you both.” She kissed your cheek. “Let’s not dwell on the past and look forward to what’s going to happen.”

You hummed a laugh. “Yes. We’d love that.”

You looked back at your precious daughter Daisy in the back of Levi’s car. She was a perfect bundle of joy at five months old. You smiled at her making her squeal in delight and reach for you. “In a bit, my little flower. Daddy has to drive us to the wedding.”

Levi looked up in the mirror. “Few more minutes, okay?”

You turned and looked ahead and sighed. “I can’t believe it. I’m so excited.”

Levi chuckled. “Me too. I’ll keep Erwin calm.”

“I’ll make sure Kate is not having a little panic attack as well. I know Daisy will lighten her day.”

Levi pouted. “I want Daisy to be with me.”

You hummed a laugh. “We’ve talked about this. I’ll have her first and then you come around and take Daisy for a bit.”

He let out a long sigh. “Yeah.” He pulled up into the parking space and sighed. “Let’s do this.”

You gulped hard. “It’ll be safe, right?”

Levi held your hand. “Yeah, it’ll be okay. This wedding will go perfectly.”

You did a few breathing exercises with Levi before getting out of his car. You opened the back door and helped your daughter out. You held her against you and smiled as she clung tightly to your dress and her bunny toy. “You ready to see your auntie and uncle today?”

Daisy gazed at you before she laughed a little. “Aboo! Ba, ba, ba!”

Levi kissed Daisy’s head. “I think she is ready to go.”

You hummed a laugh and carried her inside as Levi grabbed her bag of things. “I can imagine Kate and Erwin are worrying about the same things we are.”

Levi hummed. “You’re right, but the virus has been dealt with.”

You squeezed your daughter. “Yeah.”

Levi stopped with you in the hall. “It’s going to be okay. We’ll have a wonderful time and it’ll be a cute wedding.” He kissed you and smiled. “Have fun with Kate.”

“Have fun with Erwin.”

“Yes, my love.”

You ran down the hall with Daisy giggling away. You opened the bridal door and smiled at Kate in her wedding dress with your mother helping. “Hello. I’ve brought our expert.”

Kate gasped. “Baby!”

You stepped inside and handed Daisy over. “She’ll help you out.”

Kate cuddled your daughter. “She’s the best. I feel at peace now, thank you.”

You helped Kate with her hair once she sat with your daughter. “How are you feeling?”

“Nervous.”

“Erwin will be there.”

She let out a long sigh. “I know that…it’s the whole…”

“Zombies.”

She hummed a bit. “Yeah.”

You sat in front of her and smiled. “We’re safe. They won’t come here. No more zombies, okay?”

She bounced Daisy on her lap. “Except for this one here.”

You giggled. “Yeah. The doctor said she’s developing incredibly. There are no signs of infection. She is a bit stronger than other kids.”

“What have the doctors said about you?”

“I’m like Levi and Daisy, we’re different and we’ll always be like this. They have tried hard for a cure, but because it’s changed our DNA they think it is impossible.”

Kate held your hand. “I’m sorry.”

You shrugged. “It’s okay. I’m happy that all my children will be stronger.”

She hummed a laugh and kissed your daughter’s puffy cheek. “And cute as hell. My God Daisy is so beautiful. She has this glow about her.”

You took Daisy off Kate and showered her face in kisses making her giggle. “She’s my precious flower.” You looked over at the door and smiled at Levi as he snuck it. “Hey, is Erwin okay?”

Levi nodded. “He’s doing great. He does want baby time though.”

You carried Daisy to Levi. “Here she is.”

Levi held his daughter close and kissed you. “I’ll see you in a bit.”

You winked at him. “Sure thing, sugar.”

“Love you.”

“Love you too.” You waved to Daisy. “Bye-bye little flower, I love you.”

Levi carried Daisy down the hall to Erwin’s room. “I have the little flower.”

Erwin opened his arms. “Daisy!”

Levi handed his daughter over to his friend. “Feel better now?”

Erwin cuddled Daisy. “I feel incredible. She’s so cute and perfect.”

Daisy looked up at Erwin and squealed with laughter. She reached up and patted his face. “Mm, ba, ba, boo.”

Erwin kissed her cheek. “So cute. I can’t wait to have kids with Kate. We’ve talked about it and our first one will be Lilly.”

Levi smiled. “It’s a cute name. Two little flowers.”

Erwin chuckled. “I hope they’ll be good friends.”

“I know they will.” He looked at his watch. “We should get going.”

“Can I hold Daisy the whole time?”

Levi walked with Erwin. “Of course, but it might make Kate broody.”

Erwin looked at Daisy. “Well, you need a friend, right?”

Levi laughed. “I’m supposed to work on a friend for her.”

“You want an army of kids.”

Levi shrugged. “Possibly. If my wife is okay with it, she has to carry them to term and give birth to them.” He let out a long sigh. “She’s an incredible woman.”

Erwin chuckles. “She is.” He smiled at Daisy. “Your mummy is amazing.” He walked past his friends getting their seats and stood by Levi and waited for Kate. “I am still a little nervous.”

“I think everyone who was with us on that Island is. I haven’t seen anyone acting weird.”

Erwin squeezed Daisy. “I haven’t either.” His eyes widened when he saw Kate. “Like a goddess.”

Kate blushed hard. “Oh god, he looks so handsome with a baby.”

You giggled. “Right?! Just imagine what your baby together would look like.”

“So beautiful.”

You walked with her and took her flowers. “You two are cute.”

Levi took Daisy from Erwin. “Perfect couple.”

You smiled in pride as your friends got married and shared a passionate kiss. You moved together to the eating area and watched Levi feed his daughter. You laughed as she made a bit of a mess and got very excited each time the spoon was presented to her. You pulled your gaze away from your daughter and watched your two friends share a romantic dance.

You released a sigh. “I’m glad everything went well.”

Levi hummed a laugh. “Me too.”

You cleaned Daisy’s little face. “Shall we dance?”

“Yes please.” He stood up and held Daisy with one arm as he put his other around you and began slowly dancing. “So, I’m thinking for our tenth anniversary we go do another zombie infection island and do some fun survival stuff.”

You laughed. “Good joke.”

Levi laughed. “Thanks. Never again though. We’ll stick to video games.”

You nodded. “Damn straight.”

“Oh, looks like we have a sleepy girl.”

You felt your heart swell when you saw your daughter clinging to Levi as she fell asleep. “Adorable. Let’s get her home.”

Levi smiled. “I think a family naptime is needed.”

Vriska is a no items/Final Destination girl, and Tavros’s ‘escapes’ probably feel like getting killed by a janky stage hazard. People aren’t allowed to win against her - even if, by her standards, it doesn’t count as a real win.

Given what we now know about her home life, any kind of loss probably sets off alarm bells in her head.

That’s actually a good point. We haven’t really talked about gender on Alternia - I’ve been saving it for later on, when we have more cultural context - but all of what I’d call the most dangerous trolls are girls.

The only exception - sort of - is Sollux. But his destructive abilities seem to be a outlier - and the only time he’s used them is when Aradia’s own machinations required it. He doesn’t seem all that dangerous by nature.

Or even my sprite.

I’m picturing the tech-flavored Midnight Crew sitting in Gamer Chairs on Derse, scanning everything on my land for vulnerabilities. Jack hates it - it’s such an indirect way to attack someone, that he cringes when someone even calls it an attack.

What if you just straight-up prototyped an AI? It would be interesting to see how the kernel’s ‘intelligence-boosting’ effect which we saw with Jaspers would work on an artificial mind.

My intuition is that even the best contemporary AI models would result in an inert sprite, but I do wonder if this could turn something that’s almost an AGI into the real thing.

Maybe the fireflies are actually related to Sollux’s computing bees, and they also interface with technology in some way.

I like the idea that they could act as data relays, blinking to each other in binary code to transmit data wirelessly. It’d be a good ‘biotech’ answer to short-range communication technologies, like Bluetooth.

I have seen just enough of Sollux to know that.

He would be so mad if he had to dance the Carmelldansen.

He would do it. Not all the time, and not just for anyone, but he’d absolutely do it if one of his friends caught him in the right mood. You’d never know in advance how he was going to react, but if the stars aligned and you asked him to join in, he’d just stand up and start, albeit complaining the whole time. His dance choreography is perfect.

Love it. That’s how I approach complex story ideas like this - just throw out all the ideas you have, and see how they gel with the evidence!

Nepeta is interesting to me, because, moreso than any other troll we’ve seen, she really acts like an early 2000s internet archetype. The fact that she actively roleplays suggests one of two things.

Alternia, despite the massive cultural differences between itself and Earth, has an online RP scene roughly analogous to ours. Do you think they roleplay as lusi?

Alternatively, Nepeta invented roleplay.

Could be either, could be both. The fact that a non-corpse kernelsprite is rare suggests that something is actively preventing it from happening, but I guess that could just be good old-fashioned predestination at work.

Maybe the Harlequin's mischievousness is just how the ‘usually a corpse’ rule was enforced in this case, and other sprites were discouraged from breaking it in other ways.

One Homestuck fanfic (in Russian) called "metatime" what you call "Pebble Theory". Traveling though time is predestined by metatime, but some entities with super powerful control over time can theoretically change the metatime itself, from a hypothetical previous iterations of events. [] - RM

‘Metatime’ is a good framework to understanding a lot of time-travel plots, I think. It’s a good example of how a simple change in perspective really can drastically aid your understanding of a concept.

Lovin’ it! One thing I am looking forward to is, when I’m finished the comic, looking back on the original reactions and theories when the comic was posted live. It’ll be fun to compare my interpretations to other people’s.

It’s another one I’m kind of happy I didn’t guess. It’s fun to be thrown for a loop in this comic, especially when it’s with a twist that makes total sense in hindsight!

I dunno, it just feels right to me? Maybe it’s my accent, or something, but I’m definitely parsing it as though there’s a ‘h’ in there. I’m notoriously kind of bad at pronouncing things, but I’ve arbitrarily decided that I’m going to die on this hill.

RE: his man 2. I love your long rant because I agree with every point. I can tell everybody’s type by the man they pursue. Seonwoo- intimidating, assertive men. Yonghee- mature, older gays. aghhhh thank you lovely anon im having so much fun talking about this show nonstop bc I really am that obsessed and I need to stop my mind from buzzing while we wait for next friday.

but wow I think your ideal types are kinda spot on!!! which is interesting when you compare it to what they initially presented their ideal types as, bc some of them are pretty different. take seonwoo, he said he wanted an introvert that he can just have a chill, relaxing relationship with and yet he’s come into this house and seemed to start drama wherever he turns, which says to me he doesn’t actually prefer the quiet life like he says, otherwise he’d at least be handling the affection he’s received more like minsung, keeping it lowkey and being introspective, thinking seriously about who he likes, but no he seems too busy buzzing around everyone to actually address his own thoughts and feelings. and he does endlessly keep saying he wants to be chosen, to be pursued, which tells me you’re right, he wants someone more dominant and assertive. I think what’s stopping anyone from fulfilling that ideal type for him is that he wants the person he’s receiving attention from to be someone he likes, and it’s either that the people he likes aren’t like that, aren’t forward or chasing after him, and those that are aren’t people he has feelings for.

and similarly with yonghee, he came in saying he wanted someone small, cute, very much implying he wanted to be dominant and assertive, very much the kind of person seonwoo wants. but I think the people he’s gravitated towards are people that are older and more mature and yet still have some softness and cuteness to them, that’s why he worked so well on both his dates with jungwook and hyungjin, bc he can still feel like he’s taking care of someone and be kind and dominant in that way, but in return he gets taken care of in a more emotional way, he has someone then looking out for him, who cares about him and wants the best for him, someone he can find comfort in which I think is wonderful.

Of course cas would do that for him”.

I’m not really sure – I think I’m maybe quite focussed on what I want to be talking about, which could be either a good or a bad thing, in different places. Like I’ve noticed that I tend to do description to set the scene less than other people often, instead just bringing in details when I feel like they’re relevant, which on the one hand avoids extraneous stuff, but also might be kind of jarring, if I’m just plopping my readers somewhere without explaining it, effectively. Not really sure would other people would think of this, but yeah that’s the main contrast I’ve been noticing.

19) Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

I know I make people cut themselves off in dialogue quite a lot in order to try and convey emotion / thought processes, and am never quite sure if I’m overdoing this. Also a lot of breathing commentary to the same end – skimming through my god!jack fic just now, cas let out a breath twice in two paragraphs (one was “shuddering” and one was “shocked” and “little”). Oops.

Okay so very fun to me is that the (hopefully reasonably poignant) water motif in my god!jack fic is actually directly prompted by a clichéd throwaway buckleming line in 15x19. Like how I ended up writing the fic logistically (as opposed to why it’s the way it is and where all the thoughts come from) was thinking along the lines of “oh so Jack’s every drop of rain now? That doesn’t sound very fun” and thinking about what that might be like, and then we get into “oh well tears are water too” and eventually linking it to crying away godhood, which itself was an idea I’d had for ages. Like what the fic itself is about is godhood as a culmination of everything Jack’s gone through, and his self-destructiveness and how he rationalises everything to himself etc, but the vehicle for exploring that did come from a pretty lazy buckleming line, and this tickles me greatly.

23) What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?

It doesn’t really gel anymore with how I think about planning stories, but a thought I was playing with for a while from when I was a late teenager was someone who was a mindreader being used by a malevolent government/corporation to read the minds of people opposing them – unwillingly – and then having to deal with the guilt and trauma of that (possibly partially inspired by angel btvs iirc? Dealing with guilt for something that wasn’t your fault. And then obviously now I realise that’s also cascore). But yeah, “put a person in a situation and see what happens” is never something I got all that much mileage out of as a story writing approach, and isn’t how I really think about things anymore, so I’d have to find some different angle to actually do something with it, but there could be interesting potential there.
