This might sound depressing or weird, but I just saw Anon hate being sent to a writer I love, and I've realized that of all the HOTD writers whose fics I've followed in the last year, only you and two others are still around. It makes me sad that many others have been driven away.

That is super shitty. I've not seen anything, but it could be a writer I'm not following. Sending anonymous hate is cowardly and a pointless waste of time - you could literally be doing anything else.

If you feel strongly enough about something, say it with your whole chest - I do, which is why I am blocked by so many people lmao

It is a shame to see so many of my favourite people and writers give up and deactivate. It drives me to want to stick around though; I haven't suffered clawing my way through writer's block, hours of research, and then the tedious task of formatting and tagging a fic just let it all go to shit over some petty random's spite and jealousy. The horrors persist, but so will I, etc.

I am a little tipsy on champagne and fighting for my life trying to get the smut scene I am currently writing to go in the direction I want it to, but your words have inspired me to push through, so I am glad for you, and thank you for your kind words! xoxo

Followed @desertfangs' advice and dropped everything I was doing so I could read chapter 2. As usual I thought I was ready and it turned out that I wasn't, not even a little bit. THIS!!! "Daniel didn’t meet his eyes. He was trying to bite back his smile, his teeth trapping his lower lip and holding it still. Armand’s last remaining resolve shattered", queen of characterization I swear. Your words evoke such clear images and capture the essence of the characters so effortlessly. This is one of those moments for both of them I think, specially re: how they play off each other. Daniel making every single victory count and Armand being unable to say no to him. Not when it truly counts at least. And then there was Daniel not knowing how to drive a modern car, Armand WANTING to be petty about it (he would lmao) but not succumbing to his impulses and actually guiding Daniel along. The role reversal to end all role reversals. Daniel's hand on his neck in the car, just perfection. “I certainly hope you’re watching the road" I mean SAME but I also want Daniel to keep petting him like a cat pls 🥹 Every single touch feels so immense, almost hurts to read. These are two people who know each other inside out, quite literally, they're experts on each other's bodies, to quote Anne herself, of course every intimate gesture would feel monumental after years of not touching each other.

And you were NOT kidding when you said they would be taking no prisoners and would get to have every single conversation they needed to have. "And how many of those times did I sit at home wondering if it would be the last, if you were done with me for good? The running, the begging for me to bring you home- do you not understand what it did to me?" LIKE THIS FOR INSTANCE. Yes, Daniel is rightfully angry about many things, but the fact that he pulled that move on heavily traumatized 500 y/o teenager with major abandonement issues time and time again for YEARS and didn't stop to think about the repercutions is worth talking about. Worth bringing up at a Waffle House in the middle of nowhere, USA, in fact lmao. Actually one of my biggest vc fandom pet peeves is how some people claim Armand left/"abandoned" Daniel shortly after turning him like... are we remembering things differently here? Did they read the same books? Are they just parroting stuff they've read on twitter? tf? Armand was nowhere near a perfect partner don't get me wrong but like, that part of the story is pretty clear cut in regards of who left who yk... like pls y'all be serious and stick to the facts. Goddamn. ANYHOW, I digress. They're in pain, I'm in pain, but god they need to talk about this before they can properly heal and get back together and try again. It's very much of a case of "if I loved you any less, I would be able to talk about it more" between them, isn't it? xoxo DA I love this sfm and can't wait for more 🥹

DA 🥹 It took a hot minute to respond because your message struck a chord in me, and I ended up seriously redoing a conversation between Armand and Daniel in chapter four. But we'll get to that!!

I am so so so happy to hear that all of their little touches and expressions and gestures add up to create who they are!! I worry a lot about like...am I describing what Daniel is doing with his hands too much or is this building up the scene? Because I am aware I have a hand fetish and might be gratuitous but I feel like the micro-expressions and gestures are what make the scene come alive!

But YES to your point about role reversals and them knowing each other inside and out! I get so emotional about that, in the next chapter Armand will go on about all the secret things he knows about Daniel and how he changed his body and just. It's so much. It's a lot!!

And even BIGGER YES to the point about nobody getting off easy here, Daniel included.

We're gonna go in pretty hard on some of Armand's mistakes because he's so closed off and Daniel needs to open those wounds and find out what was going on underneath. But Daniel's running isn't getting ignored. I've really tried hard to have them both keep mentioning that they BOTH fucked up, that it's BOTH their faults the relationship failed, and they BOTH have to change. Nobody is a victim. Nobody is perfect.

And I wish Daniel's running got talked about more, though I understand why it doesn't. We never get a single word about their time together from Armand's POV until TVA and he goes into so little detail. You have to piece together the hurt yourself and these books have so much going on I think his wider abandonment issues (aside from Marius not rescuing him) end up falling through the cracks for all but the biggest Armand fans.

You held Daniel accountable here and now you've got me combing my draft to make sure all these loose ends are properly tied up ♥

Thursday we'll get a sweet moment between them so get ready for a break in the clouds. I hope you'll like it just as much!

My feelings on Horan are somewhat complicated: in some ways I think a lot of the grievances people have towards her are legitimate, but those grievances are also sometimes wrong and downright petty. I think Horan has shit politics. There are definite times when she can and should play better.

But - as much as it pains me to say this - she also understands Lyon, and there are times when her values and Lyon's are aligned.

Obviously it's a shorter season for us because of the World Cup, but I think every international [player] is just happy, you know, after - after maybe a little disappointing World Cup to come back here and start a new season.

Horan: Yeah, it was really hard. It was obviously disappointing for us. Everyone looks at the United States and they probably expected more [did they though?]. But we faced a lot of good opponents, and playing Sweden in a game like that, in the Round of 16, is never really what you want. But you know, it was a great game, we went out in a good way, we played the style that, you know, I prefer. And penalties, what are you going to say? They're unfortunate, and it's part of the game, and yeah, it's just part of life.

[How to handle a loss]

Horan: It's kind of what any footballer wants, you know, when you obviously have something disappointing, this feeling of wanting more. I think it was the same last season, with the Champions League. You want to get back into the next season and just be like "we want to achieve something else, we want a new challenge." And now we want to win as many trophies as possible.

[On penalties / the controversial loss to Chelsea]

Horan: Penalties are a part of the game. You know, it's really unfortunate because I think, especially for me, you miss a penalty. You know it's going to happen, someone has to miss. It's not what I wanted, I wanted more for the team, especially because of the way we battled, the way we played, you know, like you said, it was one of our best games. You felt the group, you felt the win coming. There was never a point in the game where I felt we couldn't win. And I think that's the most hurtful thing, because football can really be cruel. To play a game like that, away, at Chelsea, at Stamford Bridge, and still come up short. And you look back and you say, "I wish I scored that penalty," "I wish we didn't have that penalty at the end of the game", etc etc. But it's life, and this is football, it makes you want more, and I think that's now the place where we're all at, because you know you're going to get the best team to go out and win the Champions League.

[On goals / expectations for the season]

Horan: Individually, it's always just like what can I bring to the team? What impact can I have, and more so as a leader in this group now? I've taken on a bigger responsibility with my National Team and I feel like I can have that presence here. It's just a little bit different, with a different culture and everything. But also I just want to be the best player that I can be, I want to keep improving, and that's another reason why I am here at Lyon and I chose to stay. Because I get to play with the best players in the world every single day, and I get better because of them. So what can I bring to them, how can I help some of the younger players and help them improve? But also improve my game, and be the best player that I can be.

[Being away from family / what Lyon has to offer]

Horan: To be perfectly honest, that was the only thing that was really hard for me. Not being close to family, not being close to friends and at home. But when I think about my football career, it's not long, it's short. And if I want to become the best player that I can be, and play with the best players in the world, and challenge myself, I think of Lyon and I think of what Lyon has given me in the past 18 months. And it's very hard for me to sit here and say "I want to go back". I want more. And you know, the trophies that we compete for, the winningness that we have in this club, it's something very difficult to turn down for me. And you know, playing for Champions League titles, it's something that you don't get when you go back to the NWSL to be perfectly frank. For me it's like you have the World Cup, you have the Olympics, and you have the Champions League. This is one of the greatest tournaments in the world and something that has been a goal of mine that I've always had, and achieving that in my first year here was one of the best memories of my life. And I want more of that. So yeah, I think for me it was more of an easy decision than I thought it was going to be. We'll just have to get my parents over here more.

“Here?”

Carver’s breath hitched in his throat. “Yes, there.”

They’d been at it for hours that felt all too fleeting given their most recent brush with death. Every time they made it through another battle with all their limbs intact, the waiting game began—waiting for a moment, a breath in which they could steal a kiss, or a look that said, Thank the Maker you’re still here. Of the two, Felix was far bolder with his affection by nature, but even the mildest gesture—a touch that lingered for just a moment too long—was enough to pique the interest of the others, and piqued interest meant whispers, snickers and side-long glances. It was all good-natured teasing, Felix assured him, but Carver had never grown accustomed to the cheeky winks of his comrades.

So, they waited. They said what they could with curt nods and knit brows and shallow breaths, until the world was theirs for a time. And tonight, it was, in the last empty room at an overcrowded inn, where a blessedly loud and drunken crowd drowned out the sounds of their love-making—though Felix would’ve relished in the opportunity to see his lover blush upon realizing the entire tavern heard his moans.

“Don’t stop,” Carver breathed.

A devilish chuckle rumbled in Felix’s throat. “I wouldn’t dare.” He pushed his fingers in deeper, and a strangled groan left Carver’s lips.

“Felix, please…”

“Go on, then.” Felix grinned and tucked a stray strand of sweat-soaked hair behind Carver's ear. “Tell me what you need.”

He wrapped his free hand around his lover’s cock. Carver whined, arching his back into Felix’s grip.

“Please,” he said. “I need you to—”

The sound of a glass breaking didn’t register for either of them as Carver watched, enraptured, as Felix unlace his trousers. They were so close, and it had been so long. Nothing short of an earthquake could keep them apart in this moment.

Unless you counted the tangled trio of brawling drunkards who burst through the bedroom door and knocked it right off its hinges.

Felix snapped to action first, shielding Carver with his body, his own modesty be damned. “Are you alright?”

Carver ignored him to shout at the intruders. “For fuck’s sake—do you mind?”

Whatever frustration or awkwardness Felix felt upon being caught in flagrante gave way to a fit of barely stifled laughter over the quickness of Carver’s transformation from putty in Felix’s hands to the most commanding presence in the room. He laced his trousers and kept eyes on the brawlers, who stood up from their tussle on the floor to continue beating one another in the doorway.

Carver threw his hands up and shouted, “Yes, by all means continue working out your petty, drunken grievances! It’s not as if we were in the middle of anything impor—”

A flash of light so bright it nearly blinded them filled the room. Carver and Felix hit the floor seconds before a mage’s lightning bolt whizzed by and hit the wall behind them, leaving a trail of smoke behind.

Felix held the legs of Carver’s trousers open and gestured for him to step into them. Another bolt—this time of the flaming variety—zipped past, narrowly missing the tops of their heads.

Carver eyed the doorway as he got dressed. The men who started the fight were still going at it in the doorway, blocking his line of sight to the rest of the action. Pushing past them was an option, but a stupid one if the mages were to continue their bickering, and neither he nor Felix were equipped for combat.

“Flip the bed,” Felix said.

Carver’s brow furrowed. “What?”

“I said, flip the—”

“I know what you said. Why?” A third bolt far bigger than its predecessors nearly clipped one of his ears. “Right, then. Let’s flip the bed.”

He and Felix each took one end and flipped the bed on its side, pulling it against the wall until they were nestled between it and the mattress. Felix wrapped the blanket around Carver’s shoulders, but he smacked his lover’s hands away like a petulant child. “Can’t you throw something back at them? It’s not as if this will hold up to their spells if we’re hit.”

Felix chortled and pulled Carver close. “I’m so dreadful with magic my own grandfather paid to have me assassinated, remember?” He took hold of Carver’s face, one thumb stroking his cheek until it blushed crimson. “It will at least afford us some privacy.”

The Wardens in the surrounding rooms emerged from their slumber, shouting at the brawlers and demanding everyone stand down. Through the din, Carver heard his comrades searching for their missing men.

Smiling, he pressed his lips to his lover’s mouth. “For now.”

when i tell you once I read that she unexpectedly feel down, I just knew that Ava was behind bc my heart DROPPED! And then she apologized, my heart felt so sad :( I mean I can't blame her because I do the same thing too and it's a hard habit to break! Then them talking about the eggs... PAIN PAIN PAIN ALL AROUND! But I like it, it keeps the story moving!

Also I am not mad at here for wanting to be friends with him at all! Like personally I would have just been stubborn and guarded but I know I would have folded soon lol BUT THATS WHY I AM NOT HER, SHES HER OWN SELF! And Niall is gone so I don't blame her and shes in love so yeah lol oh and that "munchkin" part 💔💔💔 so good!

I'd say my loudest traits are that I don't give up easily, I put way too much faith in people (even when they don't deserve it), I'm a bit eccentric, and I love studying anthing and everything.
