Post Fest Round-Up
The fourth edition of the rare pair fest has come to an end! And with 81 submissions, it's safe to say it's been a wild success!!
With so many fics, it's a bit much to do a masterpost so we've summed up the highlights below!
Pairings:
This year, the fest featured 66 different pairings, the most popular being:

Summary: “You’d better hurry up, mate, or all the good ones will have gone.” Fred leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest, clearly thinking that he’d now exceeded his allowance of brotherly wisdom for the day.
“Who are you going with then?” Harry asked suddenly. He looked between Fred and George, a thoughtful expression on his face.
Harry asks George to the Yule Ball because it’ll be a laugh and he’s in dire need of one of those. If George can continue to keep his crush under wraps it should all go swimmingly.

James nodded, his eyes lowering to Lyall’s neck and then back up. “Yeah, Mr. Lupin. I want to help you.”
“How’s that?” Lyall couldn’t figure out how a young man like James Potter could help him grieve his wife. She’d been dying for years, he had known it was coming; he knew, and still it had caught him off guard.
“I want to fuck you,” James said.
Lyall spilled the whiskey across his lap and swore. He reached for his wand and cleaned himself up, placing the glass safely on one of Hope’s coasters. “Excuse me, I must have misheard—?”
James’s expression was fond, “I want to fuck you. I want to lay you in bed, open you up, and fuck you so hard that you forget about everything other than my body. Then, you are going to sleep.”

Hogwarts Fourth Year: While Ron is grateful for Pigwidgeon, he sometimes finds himself wistfully remembering the times he spent with 'Scabbers' -- before the reveal in Third Year, anyway. One such night, he's startled and wary to find a rat scampering around, until Viktor appears, looking for his escaped pet. They eventually bond over pets, grief, comfort, Quidditch, and many other things as they start to develop feelings for each other.

Today, 10 March 2023, is Remus Lupin’s 64th birthday!
To begin celebrating this very important day, we’re releasing the two first works of the Fest!
There will be about four weeks of posting, with an Anonymous round-up at the end of each week. After the last week, we will release a list of reveals with all authors’ names.
Authors will receive an e-mail with the week’s schedule when it’s time for their own works to go up (this week’s should be sent out shorly!). We ask authors to please not divulge which work is theirs before reveals.
It’s going to be a fun and diverse fest, with works for all tastes.

Hello friends! Recently, I participated in the fourth HP Rare Pair fest, and with 81 unique and beautiful entries it was a veritable FEAST for the eyes and heart and soul. (Check out the whole collection here)
I wanted to take a moment to post highlights of the fics that just really brought me to my knees in hopes that you’ll fangirl/boy/person over them with me!
1. Evergreen by @thecouchsofa (23k)- Harry Potter x George Weasley
What would happen if Harry asked George to go to the Yule Ball with him instead of Parvati? This GOF Yule Ball AU is sure to slay you with sheer adorableness. I couldn’t stop smiling and squealing through the whole thing. This rare pair is one of my favorites, and this fic went above and beyond, plus it’s the perfect holiday read! Rating: T
2. Lonely Creatures by @apricitydays-lazynights (5k)- Severus Snape x Giant Squid
The prompt to put these two together could easily have been pure hentai crack nonsense (which is a brilliant option) but this story did things to me that I can’t even put into words. It’s tender, melancholy, and cuts to the heart of Severus Snape’s isolation and longing to be seen and loved. The details of this are so richly woven, and I particularly enjoyed the authors’ focus on Mermlish/Merfolk. Standing ovation to this fic! Rating: E
3. Slice of Night by SquibNation10 (9k)- Aurora Sinistra x Severus Snape
This was the fic that took me the most by surprise. I love the creativity in taking a character who gets very few canon details and making them real and beautiful and believable. Auror Sinistra is divine in this, and I’ll give some honorable mentions to both Argus Filch and Rolanda Hooch as excellent supporting characters that also don’t typcially get a lot of spotlight. What a gorgeous slice of life fic! Rating: T
3. Quick Quotes and Quibbles by RainstormRadish (3k)- Luna Lovegood x Rita Skeeter
Rita and Luna have to work together to cover the wedding of Neville Longbottom and Pansy Parkinson. There’s just something about a story told in unconventional medium that will always ALWAYS pull me in! This unlikely pairing comes together in the sweetest way, their strong personalities balancing each other out until they become a formidable team. I particularly loved the graphics and paper trail memos/epistolary style storytelling. Rating: T
4. Your seat, it’s the best seat by @the-houseryn (17k)- Ron Weasley x Draco Malfoy
MOVE OVER only one bed, there’s a new trope in town and it’s the ONLY ONE SEAT trope!! This was sexy, flirtatous, and hot AF. I’m always down for a Dron fic, but this one is one of the best I’ve read in a while, with some delicious pining and a predictably oblivious Ron. Do yourself a favor and indulge in the lap-sitting fic of the year! Rating: E
5. Vivaldi and Hot Chocolate by @patriceavril (6k)- Percy Weasley x Stan Shunpike
What was Percy up to in OTP/HBP? What a lonely life that must have been! This fic was soft and sweet, giving some much-needed love to a character that we all wrote off in canon for being a stuck-up prick. I love how Percy seeks out the warmth and comfort of the Knight Bus, coming back for more because of the kind-hearted and bubbly Stan Shunpike, who always insists on giving Percy free hot chocolate. I never expected to be so enamoured by this pairing, but I am! Rating: T
6. The monster you feed by @ghostfelicis188 (11k)- Regulus Black x Remus Lupin
This canon-compliant fic tore me to shreds. TO SHREDS. Like, I am such a simp for tragic Remus romances, and this took the cake. Features: pining artist Remus, and shit-eating cruel Regulus who toys with Remus the whole damn fic. If you like hurt no comfort, this is the fic for you. *Chefs Kiss* Rating: M
7. Gilded Web by @emilyrickman AlihotsyTotsy (8k)- George Weasley x Blaise Zabini
I cannot believe that this understated fic packed such a punch in 8,000 words. George agrees to an undercover operation to investigate the mysterious deaths of Mrs. Zabini’s deceased husbands. He is so pure in this, his characterization charming and believable, I just need more of this George! Bonus points for references to “the Sting” Rating: M
8. Sleeping with Ghosts by @ghaniblue (21k)- Harry Potter x Regulus Black x Draco Malfoy
My initial thoughts when encountering this relationship tag was something akin to a bewildered head scratch but OMG the best thing about this fest is having expectations completely upended! This fic slayed hard with a slow burn, found family, semi-sentient house renovation angle that had me completely melted by the end. Rating: M
9. The Last Trial of Peter Petegrew by @sleepstxtic (20 k)- Peter Petegrew x James Potter
If possible, I’d like to ram this fic down the throats of all my mutuals with a plea to PLEASE READ THIS FIC. I can’t begin to describe in a tiny paragraph what this did to me. Often Peter Petegrew is relegated to the traitor bus in fandom (understandable) but this took every mean and traitorous part of his character and made me almost like him despite his treachery! The format of this was also a delight to read, and I love that Hermione presents the case for Peter Petegrew in this meta purgatory-style courtroom drama. Rating: M
10. Anatomy of a memory by @venom0usbarbie (9k)- Ginny Weasley x Tom Riddle
This story was pure poetry wrapped in a sinister diary-shaped package. I love the self-fulfilling prophecy nature of this time loop style storyline, as well as the toxic obsession and manipulation played out between Ginny and Tom. What a mindfuck ending that was, too! Kudos to the “Tom Riddle is his own Warning” tag. Rating: M
11. Sweet Boy by @maraudersaffair (6k)- Narcissa Black Malfoy x Harry Potter
A not-quite-fake dating fic with lots of smut, thirst, and mommy/praise kink? Yes, please! I was literally panting by the end of this, Harry and Narcissa are so hot together! Rating: E
12. Growing Suspicion by nocturn (1.8k)- Neville Longbottom x Marcus Flint
Someone keeps mutilating Neville’s plants, and he’s going to get to the bottom of it OR that time Marcus expresses feelings but doesn’t understand proper plant care. This fic was A-DOR-ABLE. Love me a good Hogwarts professors/staff fic, and this was just a bite-sized delight to read. Rating: G
13. For Your Burning Gaze by SquibNation10 (22k)- Neville Longbottom x Pansy Parkinson
The fic that I most want to see a sequel for award goes to… this Twilight Zone post-war marriage law fic complete with creepy house elves and a very troubled Pansy, who seems to be the only one realizing that something is not quite right! This is one of the best Panville fics I’ve read, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Rating: E

Fellow animal lovers, we're brining you the anonymous masterlist of all the furry/scaly/feathery creations our fest has to offer!
And what a list! Every morning without snow on the ground or rain that turned the land into a slip and slide of mud and wet grass, Ron ran the property with his misfit herd of barnyard animals close behind him. The thrilling tease of watching Ron's solid, sweat-glistening body do its lap around the misty morning pond was just about the only thing that could get Draco willingly out of bed so soon after the summer sun rose. Barn chores and animal butts certainly weren't going to do it.

Draco's Basilisk might or might not be depressed. Whatever the case, he would never ask Harry Potter for help.

Each afternoon, Harry and his cat lounge in their sitting room, make an elaborate snack, and then head out for a walk. When they run into a certain tall, pale-haired man and his scruffy dog, they find their routine shifting.

Draco befriends stray animals in his back garden, unknowing that one of them is actually an animagus.
Two cute foxes, one embarrassing rant (Harry/Fred/George, 1k, G) Fred and George needed a role of their own, even considering how they were Fred & George and not Fred and George. And, if no one had made the effort to recognize them, to distinguish them, they would have managed to be seen and noticed. At least that was his due to them. This didn't mean they wouldn't want to be appreciated for who they were.
Waiting for the Moon to Rise (Draco/Harry, 8.9, E)
When Harry and Draco move into Grimmauld Place straight out of Hogwarts, the last person they expect to find taking up residence is Bill ‘divorced, dishevelled, and dangerous’ Weasley. But what if their new, furry little problem is the help they need to finally bring them closer? Stranger things have happened, Draco supposes.
Wings and Slings (Draco/Harry, 24k, T)
After the war, Draco Malfoy decides to turn over a new leaf and in doing so, opens an animal sanctuary for sick and homeless magical creatures. Everything is going well, until he is given a feral herd of hippogriffs and has to ask for outside help to be able to get anywhere near them. Only, it's the very last person he would have asked for help from.

How claiming works
Claiming runs the same as it always has, and how most fests operate.
In case you're unfamiliar with the claiming process, the gist is:
⚓ Claiming is "first come; first serve" - we'll grant prompts in the order they're received.
⚓ You'll submit your first, second, and third choice prompts; whichever is the first one available on that list is the prompt you'll have!
⚓ We'll update the gallery as prompts are claimed, and reply to your form via email to confirm which of your selected prompts you got.
⚓ There is a section on the claiming form for self-prompting!
⚓Participants are allowed to claim multiple prompts, but are only allowed one prompt at a time. If you want to fulfill multiple prompts, please complete and submit your current submission before filling out the form to claim another prompt.

Introducing a new kind of Harry Potter fest…
Ready to prove how much you love your favorite Silver Trio Slytherins?
Then join us in participating in the first ever fest hosted by The Writing Heirs of Slytherin Discord Server!
Silver Trio Fest is a Harry Potter fanworks fest dedicated to the main Slytherins in the Lightning Era of the Wizarding World!
Fest Information
Originally, the Silver Trio, the Slytherin version of the Golden Trio, referred only to Draco, Pansy, and Blaise. However, with our fest, we decided to include characters such as fan-favorite Theodore Nott as well as Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle.
The premise is simple: Create any fanwork (fic or fanart) you like! However, and this is where the challenge comes in, the main characters of the ship you include in your fanwork must be a Slytherin from the Silver Trio crew!
The Slytherins you can choose from are the following:
Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, Theodore Nott, Blaise Zabini, Gregory Goyle, and Vincent Crabbe!

Fest Rules
All genres, tropes, and pairing types (platonic, couples, and polyships) are allowed in this fest.
All levels of writers and artists are welcome too! Even if this is your first fest!
Your main characters and the main ship/pairing in your fanwork can only be Slytherins from the Silver Trio as outlined in our rules doc listed below! No exceptions!
Authors: there is no maximum word count for your work. But we do encourage you to submit a fic that is at least 1,000 words.
Artists: As long as you follow the guidelines above, you may submit any form of fanart you like, including moodboards! However, AI-generated work and commissioned work from other artists may NOT be submitted!
This fest is an Author/Artist Revealed event. Your fanwork will be revealed on the dates listed above. When the fest is over, we will highlight your fanwork on our discord and our tumblr throughout the month of March.
You do not have to be a member of The Writing Heirs of Slytherin Discord to participate in this fest. However, we do recommend joining so that you can be in contact with other Silver Trio Fest participants! It’s also the quickest way to get a hold of the admin team!

Kinks of Knockturn Alley wants to start 2024 off hot, so we’re back with another iteration of one of our favorite fests! Devious & Diverse New Year looks to highlight body positivity, how it intersects with both fandom and sex-positivity, and to celebrate another devious year to come!
Body positivity refers to the belief that all people should have a positive body image—no matter how society, cultures, or generational ideals view shape, size, and appearance. Some of the goals of the body positivity movement include:
💿 Challenging how society views the body
💿Promoting the acceptance of all diverse body types
💿Helping people build up their confidence and acceptance of their bodies
💿Tackling unrealistic body standards
Body positivity also recognizes that judgments are made based on other contexts such as - race, gender, sexuality, and even disabilities. Body positivity aims to help people understand how media messages contribute to how people perceive their bodies and their relationship with themselves in how they feel about food, exercise, clothing, health, identity, and self-care. By understanding the effects influences have, people can develop a healthier and more realistic relationship with themselves.
