Hello! Would you be able to do a hero x villain scene where the villain catches the hero doing something he's not supposed to and the villain uses that to blackmail the hero? I love your snippets, i could literally read them all day like a book lol
"Tsk. Tsk. What have we here?"
The hero froze. They ran through a million different versions of how screwed they were. Then, they swore quietly, and turned. "Is there any small chance that you're not going to make a big deal out of this?"
"You graffitiing the side of parliament? On-" The villain's gaze raked over the colours, the style, clearly matching it to the other acts of vandalism that had been making the news of late, "-multiple occasions." Their eyes it up. "Oh, they'll have your head, hero."
The hero's stomach sank. It wasn't even an exaggeration. "So no biggie. Right? You love a bit of chaos?"
The villain smiled. It was not a comforting smile.
The villain might appreciate chaos, but not so much as power.
The hero folded their arms across their hoodie, like that would somehow cover the bloody scrawl of 'inaction in the face of evil is evil, you bastards' behind them. It was complete with a rendition of the head minister's face with a moustache and devil horns and a list of the dead.
"Why are you even here?" they snapped.
"Consulting with him of the devil horns."
"Of course you bloody are."
The villain shrugged. "This administration is evil, as you say. It's very convenient. They're oh so eager to get me on board, yada yada."
"You in government?"
"Mm. It's horrifying, isn't it?"
Horrifying seemed like too mild a word. The villain was already powerful, with legal and official backing - however unjust - they would be unstoppable. Never mind that...
They were probably using the villain. Or, at least, trying to. The idiots didn't realise that the villain was a different sort of beast entirely; difficult to tame, malice not contained to cabinets and board rooms and cruel detachment. Or, maybe, they knew but were simply too greedy for what the villain could give them.
There was no way it would end well either way.
And now...
The villain's smile broadened, at the hero's expression.
"Relax, hero," the villain said. "I won't tell anyone."
"...you won't?"
"Not if you do a little something for me."
The hero stared at the villain, flat.
"Oh, come now," the villain purred. "I'm being nice."
"By blackmailing me?"
"By giving you a chance to avoid being executed on the front steps. By not instantly taking away the last hope that all these poor..." The villain swept forward, "downtrodden," they captured the hero's chin, "peasants have."
Their eyes met. The hero swallowed.
It didn't need saying that the villain could. Which meant that whatever they were after must be awful, for them to give up the chance of their ultimate victory, of the chance to get rid of the hero forever.
"What do you want me to do?"
"I have no doubt you're aware of the dance tomorrow."
"The one that costs an obscene amount of money that could be used on public infrastructure or the welfare of people who live here."
"That's the one," the villain cooed. "Come with me."
"Excuse me?"
"Come with me to the dance."
"As your accomplice to what?" The hero's eyes narrowed. "You're not going to kill them all, are you?"
"As my date."
The villain dropped their chin.
There was a long pause. The villain was implacable. The hero was having some sort of internal seizure. Emotional whiplash. Possibly an existential crisis.
"...you're blackmailing me to be your date."
"Astute observation."
"I notice you didn't say you weren't going to kill them all."
"I notice you didn't say no."
"Well," the hero huffed, face hot. "I don't have much of a choice, do I?"
"I was half-expecting an 'I'd rather die', I'll admit."
"I mean, it was a close shout. It is..." They looked the villain up and down, then quickly looked away from the disgustingly perfect body. "You."
The villain smiled again. Wild. Savage. No politician's curve of the lips.
The hero wet their dry lips, resisting the urge to clear their throat. "And if I do this...you won't tell anyone about..." They waved a hand at the wall. "I have your word?"
For what is was worth, and the hero had never expected it to be worth quite so much, the villain always kept their word. Unlike some people.
"You have my word."
The hero felt dizzy as the adrenaline in them bottomed out. Shaky. They realised abruptly how clammy their hands were around the cans.
It still seemed too easy. The villain could have finished them. It was a stupid, ridiculous thing to be murdered for...but exactly the kind of thing the current administration didn't tolerate. That along with free speech, empathy and the other hallmarks of a caring society.
The villain turned to look at the vandalism, attention roaming over the names, the words. It was impossible to tell what they were thinking.
"Go on then," the villain murmured. "Finish up."
"You're going to watch?"
The villain didn't deign that with a response. The hero tried - and failed - not to feel self conscious as they got back to work. They'd, for obvious reasons, never had an audience before.
After what it had cost, though, they couldn't leave the job half done.
They felt the villain's eyes on them the whole time, intent and electric. It made the hero feel like they were stripping.
By the time they were done, the hero's hand was shaking.
"Very good." They felt the villain's chest pressed against their back, their breath against the hero's ear. "Remember to wear something pretty for me."
Then, they were gone.
The hero had to get out of there.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They say a girl can't have both brains and beauty; that you can only choose one. From a young age, you were determined to prove the world wrong. And that's exactly what you did.
Sitting at your desk, working your dream job, you open your newly received email. Your heart jumps at the subject: Examination Results.
You had worked so so hard for this. Endless days and nights spent poring over textbooks and screens and notebooks. Sleepless nights and early mornings. Sacrifices and postponements, going so far as to even reduce the time spent with your incredibly loving and supportive boyfriend, Kang Taehyun. All for this - your Masters degree.
As you hover your cursor over the email, you remember Taehyun's life motto: "Hard work will never betray you." He would always tell you that whenever you felt overwhelmed, and it always worked. Not for the last time does it work now too as you click open the email.
A scream erupts from the room, causing your coworkers to jump and find the source. Aka: you.
"Y/n, what the hell? Are you okay?!"
You look at your now assembled coworkers with tears in your eyes.
"...I GOT MY MASTERS!!" you squeak jumping up and down.
"Shut the fuck up!!"
You're so grateful to have such wonderful, supportive coworkers and your heart swells as the 4 assembled in the room engulf you into an excited group hug, everyone bouncing up and down and narrowly avoiding treading on each other's toes.
"What's happening here?" your boss walks in, an amused expression on his face.
"Y/n got her Masters!!!" says the coworker closest to you.
Your boss laughs and claps his hands. "Congratulations, Y/n! We knew you could do it!" he says, giving you a hug.
You bow down to everyone, thanking them profusely with sparkles in your eyes....and some tears.
"You've worked hard enough," says your boss. "Take the rest of the day off. We'll be sure to celebrate you tomorrow with a work dinner, how does that sound everyone?" He flashes a wholesome smile.
God, you're so blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people.
Everyone cheers at the thought of celebrating, and you hug everyone goodbye as you practically skip out of the building.
In the car, you pull out your phone and dial Taehyun. He's currently at dance practice, so you doubt he'll answer but you try anyway.
"Y/n? Hey. Everything okay?" Taehyun asks softly.
Somehow, you smile even wider at your boyfriend's voice.
"Hi, baby! Yeah, everything is great! I actually have something to tell you...I got off work early so I was hoping I can come around now? I'll wait 'til you guys finish practice, don't worry. Then maybe we can grab lunch?"
You can practically hear the smile in Taehyun's voice. "Yeah, of course, baby. The guys have been asking when they'll see you next. You don't have to wait by the way...do you want to come watch us?"
"I'd love to! And tell the guys I miss them. Especially my Gyu-bear! I'll see you guys soon."
Taehyun laughs and you just know he's rolling his eyes at the affectionate nickname you've given Beomgyu.
"Yeah, yeah. Drive safe. I love you. And I'm not telling Beomgyu hyung that," he teases.
"Don't worry, I'll do it for you," you laugh. "I love you."
You put the car into drive and make your way over.
*
As you walk into the practice room, you're taken by surprise. Not just because your boyfriend and his members are sitting on the floor talking instead of dancing, but because BTS themselves are amongst them. This would have freaked you out, except for the fact that you met them once. It was fun...and surprisingly natural. As shy as you were, they were so normal and humble and funny that you immediately fell in with them. All heads turned to you as they heard the door open. Not used to this amount of attention on you, your face burns as you softly say hi.
"Sorry, am I interrupting something?" You look at Namjoon and then to your boyfriend. "I didn't know you guys would be here, I'm so sorry."
They chuckle at that and J-Hope is the one to answer.
"Don't worry about it! It's okay. We came in by surprise." He laughs after glancing at the txt members and their red ears.
"Come join us. Y/n, right? It's good to see you again," says Jimin.
You smile and walk towards them. Taehyun stands up and gives you a quick hug, feeling more shy than usual what with his seniors around. He still holds your fingers though as you find a seat.
A bunch of how-are-yous are exchanged and you all quickly fall into conversation. It's funny and natural and you appreciate the way they include you in their discussions, even if it's about idol life. The members of BTS catch up with you since the last time you met, and you update them on your life, seeing as how they're genuinely interested in it.
"She's been studying really hard lately, so we haven't seen her much," Yeonjun pouts.
"Oh? What are you studying?" V asks.
"Same field, I'm just going for my Masters."
"Smart and pretty," says Jungkook quietly as the rest laugh. You blush and look away.
"You can't make another man's girl blush like that, Kook!" Jin shouts playfully.
You cover your face and shake your head, laughing. "No no, it's not that. It's just....I'm a big fan of Jungkook....he's sort of....my bias....so I'm really nervous right now," you admit, slightly embarrassed but finding humour in this.
Various screams erupt inside the room. Jungkook's ears go red and the members manhandle him playfully.
"I thought it was me!" says V, acting offended.
"We should have taken that bet," Suga laughs.
"There was a bet?" Taehyun asks, already knowing about your innocent crush on your BTS bias.
"After we first met her," Namjoon explains, "we were trying to figure out whether she was an army or not and who her bias would be. Most of us thought V. Except Jin hyung, he thought himself."
Everyone laughs even more at that. You don't know what's redder - your face or Jungkook's ears.
The laughter and teasing eventually subsides and Taehyun asks, "You're getting your results soon, right jagi?"
You giggle at the timing. "About that...." you say.
His big brown boba eyes widen just a little at the insinuation. "You got it?! When?!"
"What'd you get?!" Hyuka shouts.
Yeonjun and Soobin stand up, knowing how hard you've been working for this. Even the members of BTS look invested.
You laugh and say to Taehyun, "I was going to tell you over lunch but...I got my results this morning and.......I've officially earned my Masters!" you say with the widest smile.
Once again, screams erupt from the room. You feel sorry for everyone else in the building. Everything happens in a blur. Taehyun picks you up and spins you around, placing you down and kissing you deeply despite his seniors presence. This causes a bunch of "woo"s and "eww"s and before you can even register, Beomgyu picks you up and for some reason runs across the room and back while shouting, making everyone laugh. Your face turns red for the nth time that day. You get congratulated by everyone and do a lot of bowing and hand shaking and hugging.
"At least someone is good in school," jokes Suga. "Good job."
Things eventually calm down and you find yourself more comfortable and more integrated with these idols than ever expected. Conversations continue until eventually the idol life must go on. Taking this as your cue to leave, you bid a sweet goodbye to everyone and hold Taehyun's hand as he walks you to the door. Just as you're about to say goodbye, he hugs you.
"I'm really proud of you, baby. You know that? My clever girl."
You blush and he plants a kiss on your cheek. Before he can pull back, he whispers in your ear, "When I come home, I'm going to show you what a good girl you've been, mmh? My jagiya..."
You unconsciously bite your lip and dip your head so nobody sees your expression. "Okay."
You turn to leave, but not before hearing the boys comment on your flustered expression and Taehyun's suspiciously reddening ears.

Welcome Home Licht
*Giving this a NSFW warning but it's not too bad just rather safe then sorry.*
Rhodolite palace late evening, Emma is alone in the private kitchen.
Ugh I've barely slowed down until dinner these last two weeks and it's even later today. I know everyone promised Licht they'd look after me and keep me company while he was away and it's been fun but I can't wait for tomorrow morning when he's finally home! I hope I have enough time to finish these tonight before I'm too tired.
There that's everything I need now let's get to work on these darioles so that they'll be ready and waiting when he gets back from his escort mission to Jade. I knew there'd be occasions when we'd be separated for long stretches but this is the first one since we got married and even though all the guys in the domestic faction have kept me really busy I still miss him so so much. Hopefully he had fun going with Nokto though and he's friends with Prince Keith so I'm sure that's helped him not miss me as much as I've missed him. No, stop it self! If I keep thinking about how much I miss him I'll start crying and never get these done tonight. Besides it's only for one more night I can do this!
I had just placed the darioles on a rack to cool and was finishing cleaning up when a familiar scent and pair of strong arms enfolded me from behind. I turned over my shoulder to look at Lichts smiling if weary face.
Emma: Licht! I thought you weren't going to be home until tomorrow morning. I'm so happy to see you, welcome home!
I placed a light kiss on his lips then turned in his arms to face him.
Licht: I'm happy to see you too Emma.
Licht returned my kiss then gently stroked my cheek with his thumb. He looks so tired, did he ride straight through to get home early?
Emma: Not that I'm not grateful you're home but I hope you didn't rush or push yourself just to get home early?
Licht: Only a little. I stopped with the others at the inn but soon after we got there Nokto said I was being too depressing & that I should just head back already so I did. I missed you so much & couldn't wait to see you.
Licht nuzzled his face into my neck and squeezed me so tight I could barely breathe.
Emma: Licht..I missed you too. Oh! you must be starving if you left so quickly. I made some darioles for you but they aren't cool yet, why don't you go sit & I'll get you something quick to eat.
Licht: Ok, thank you.
Licht gave me a quick kiss before releasing me from his embrace. It didn't take me long to put together a small plate of meats and cheeses. Licht had taken off his gloves and jacket and was just sitting down at the table when I brought over the plate setting it in from of him. He looked down at the plate for a moment before frowning and pushing it to the side.
Emma: Is something wrong?
Licht: No it's fine, it's just not what I really want right now.
Suddenly Licht was moving faster then I could follow and before I knew it he was out of his chair and had lifted me up onto the table. His warm lips captured mine in a deep and hungry kiss while his rough hands traced my curves sending desire coursing through every inch of me. His lips then moved to my neck slowly making their way down towards my collarbone while one of his hands came up to my chest and he deftly started undoing the top buttons on my blouse.
Emma: Mmm Licht..wait what if ohh..
My thoughts and words scattered as Lichts fingertips ran across the top of my breasts.
Licht: Sorry but I'm too hungry to wait any longer.
Licht kissed me so fiercely I wrapped my arms around his neck to keep myself upright. As our kisses grew hungrier and tongues danced together all the feelings of need and longing I'd been pushing down came crashing to the surface. It no longer mattered where we were the only thing that mattered was that he was finally home.
I slipped my hands under Lichts shirt and slowly raked my fingertips up his back and he let out a low and throaty groan. He pulled me closer to him, pushing my skirts up and caressing my thighs.
Yves: Next time you need me to bake something don't wait so late to to...
We were so lost in eachother we didn't hear Yves voice until it was too late. I'd barely started jumping down from the table when Yves and Leon had entered the kitchen coming to a dead stop. I quickly hid behind Licht and buried my face in his back not wanting to face either of them for even a second longer.
I'm not sure which is worse Yves look of utter shock and his bright red face or Leon's smirk, this is so embarrassing!
We were all just standing there for a moment in awkward silence before Yves voice tried to break it.
Yves: I..I..what were you doing!?
Leon: Isn't it obvious? Emma was just welcoming Licht home.
Great it sounds like Leon's going to burst out laughing any minute.
Yves: I meant out here... activities like that are not appropriate!
Leon: Come on Yves they're married now. Besides they still had all their clothes on even if they were in disarray.
And there it is, Leon you laughing like that isn't helping anything! Ugh what I wouldn't give for one of Clavis's pit traps right now.
Licht: Leon you're not helping.
Leon: Ok ok! Come on Yves let's go before you turn permanently red. I'd say have a good night you two but..
Emma & Yves: Leon!
Leon: I couldn't help it sorry!
I listened to Leon's loud laughter fade completely down the hallway before I even dared to lift my head off Lichts back.
Emma: I'm never leaving our room again.
* The next morning*
By the time Licht entered the dinning room his brothers were almost finished their breakfast.
Jin: Hey Licht didn't expect to see you until later, welcome back.
Licht: Thanks Jin.
Licht quickly sat down not glancing at Leon or Yves.
Jin: Where's Emma? After being apart for two weeks I figured you'd be all over her the second you got back.
Yves: Jin! How can you talk like that over breakfast you're such a pervert!
Licht: Yves don't shout over breakfast.
Yves: I...sorry but don't try to defend him. It's attitudes like his that are setting a bad example and corrupting people's morals and common decency around here!
Jin was absolutely lost at Yves's outburst and threw a quick glance at Leon who was leaning back in his chair with his hands over his mouth desperately trying to contain his laughter.
Licht: Yves it's too early for a lecture
Yves: Maybe so but you're all going to get one later, Emma too!
Jin: Hey! Why do we need a lecture?
Licht: Fine but leave Emma out of it. It took forever to get her to calm down.
Leon's composure was gone and he was laughing so hard he doubled over in his chair.
Leon: I would of thought that was..the opposite of what you..wanted.
Leon barely managed to get the words out between his laughter. Yves turned bright red and pursed his lips while Licht just sighed. Jin stared wide eyed at his brothers clearly at a loss as to what was going on with them then he suddenly clapped his hands together.
Jin: Right then, let's change the topic shall we.
Leon managed to regain his composure but nobody said anything after that and the room filled with an uncomfortable silence. Yves finished first and was getting up to leave when Jin spoke again.
Jin: Oh I almost forgot Yves. I was talking to some of the servants before breakfast & they said you woke them up super early & demanded they get rid of the table in the private kitchen, what's that all about?
Yves: Wha!! Never mind what it's all about just order a new one!
Yves face went bright red and he stormed out of the dinning room. Leon was laughing again and Licht shifted uncomfortably in his chair.
Jin: What the hell is going on with him today?
Leon: He'll be fine, he just got a little bit of adult education last night.
Jin: Huh?
Licht: You're still not helping.
Licht got up and left leaving behind a loudly laughing Leon and an even more confused looking Jin.

This was my first college/university au fic on ao3.
I Hope You Remember That I Love You
“Lee Chan, are you done with your essay now?” Seungkwan's voice called out, sounding mildly annoyed. Chan sighed as he looked past his computer at his roommate leaning against his door and peeling an orange. “I'll be done right about now, I think.” Chan answered but the words sounded like a lie, even to him.
“You've been saying that for the past 2 hours! Just do it tomorrow! Let's eat dinner together! We'll both be too busy for it later!” Seungkwan, being a journalism major, wasn't exactly lying about having no time as both Chan and Seungkwan were gonna have to start preparing for their midterms by September. The thing is, Chan knew that he won't be able to work on his essay tomorrow. Hell, he won't be able to work on anything tomorrow.
“Seungkwan-ah, I won't be able to work on my essay tomorrow. Have you checked the pollen count? It's going up by the minute and it's low enough right now that I can take my antihistamines but it'll be too high tomorrow and taking a higher dose is just gonna leave me too drowsy to do anything.”
Seungkwan pouted from the door and Chan sighed. “Don't give me that look, Seungkwan-ah. I promise, if I'm up to it, we can have dinner tomorrow.” That cheered Seungkwan up a bit and he left Chan alone after a quick goodnight. Chan sighed again, knowing full well that he won't be up to it tomorrow.
When tomorrow came, Chan immediately felt the effects of the pollen count before he even fully woke up. Groaning, he sat up in bed, stretching his tired muscles from working out the day before. Even though Chan went through his routine without his allergies disturbing him too much but he knew that peace wouldn't last too long.
Bracing himself, he walked into the living room where he found Seungkwan, eating some buttered toast, and 2 iced americanos on the table. “How're you feeling?” Seungkwan looked worried, knowing just how bad Chan's allergies were. Chan smiled softly as he took a seat next to him, taking a sip of his coffee. “I'm fine right now. But I can feel the pollen getting to me slowly. And I have like 5 classes today!”
Chan buried his head in his arms and Seungkwan ran his hand through his hair comfortingly. “You'll be fine. I hope.” Chan raised his head to glare at Seungkwan before burying it in his arms again. Seungkwan laughed as he resumed stoking Chan's hair. “No, seriously. You'll be fine. You have Mingyu in marketing and Soonyoung hyung in modern dance, right? They'll make sure you survive.” “Why do I even have allergies?!” Chan whined and Seungkwan smacked his head gently. “The question should be why did you move to Seoul? You know there's like double the amount of flowers here.”
“I didn't know that!”
“Sure you did.”
“I didn't!”
“Then you're just dumb.”
Chan lifted his head and leaned his body against Seungkwan dramatically. “Don't you feel any pity for me?” He asked, pouting.
“Nope.”
Chan laughed at that as he finished his breakfast, helping Seungkwan with the dishes. As they were getting ready to leave, Chan put on a mask, hoping that it would lessen the effects of the pollen. But as they stepped out of their shared apartment, Chan felt the pollen trigger his allergies, his eyes growing watery almost immediately.
He felt a tickle build at the back of his sinuses and he felt his nose start to run as well. He sniffled softly as Seungkwan turned to him. “You okay?” Chan just nodded. As they lived in an apartment close to their campus, they walked to their classes most of the time. But that was proving to be extremely difficult today. Chan felt the tickle grow exponentially at the back of his sinuses and it took a lot of his energy to keep from sneezing, despite his breathing getting more desperate by the second. As Chan pinched his nose to stop the upcoming sneeze, Seungkwan turned to him.
“Just let yourself sneeze, Chan-ah!” He sounded irritated and Chan knew it would be useless to argue with him. Instead he pulled down his mask a little, rubbing at his nose and as the air hit his face, Chan felt himself gasp softly, his eyes fluttering shut as he aimed his head to his shoulder.
“hhkChuHhh!- hh'ItShuhHh!- hh'KShuHhh!-”
Chan blinked the tears out of his eyes, sniffling wetly. “Bless you.” Seungkwan's voice was gentle as he put an arm around Chan, pulling him closer. Chan let himself lean into the embrace, just wanting the day to be over. The walk had made his nose ten times more irritable and he just wanted to sleep, already tired out by his small sneezing fit. As they parted ways to go to their respective classes, Chan rubbed his hand across his face. Today was going to be a long day.
Chan walked into his first class of the day and immediately spotted Mingyu who was sitting near a window. Mingyu looked over at him from his laptop, waving brightly. Chan tried to smile but it came off as more of a grimace. Mingyu looked at him sympathetically as he took a seat next to him. “Allergies, huh? You look terrible.” Mingyu deadpanned and Chan rolled his eyes. “Thanks.” He replied dryly as he went over his notes of the class. “Do you need anything?” Mingyu asked, his voice so sweet that it made Chan smile.
“I'll be fine. Just take notes for me if it gets too bad, okay?” Mingyu nodded at that, determined. Chan laughed softly as the professor walked in. The gust of wind that came from the hallway as the door opened and closed was enough for Chan's breath to start hitching. He turned away from Mingyu as he pinched his nose, silently stifling the sneeze.
Mingyu nudged him, his eyes holding a clear warning, don't stifle your sneezes. Chan looked straight ahead, choosing to deal with the warning later. As the class went on, it was getting increasingly difficult for Chan to hold back his sneezes. At some point, Chan felt the tickle in his nose peak and he turned away from Mingyu again, bringing his arm up to his face as his breath hitched desperately.
“hhkTChuhhH!- hh'NgtChhhH!- Hhh...hh'NgTChuHh!-”
Chan sniffled wetly as his eyes got even more watery than before. Mingyu silently passed him a tissue and Chan, grateful, took it as he blew his nose softly. It did nothing to clear his sinuses but at least the burning urge to sneeze left him for a while. He tried to focus on the class but all he could think about was how much his nose was itching. As he felt the urge to sneeze again, Chan ducked behind his table, leaning against Mingyu slightly, Mingyu's arm wrapping around his shoulders instinctively. He felt his chest rise and fall with desperate breaths as his eyes closed, hands coming up to cup his nose and mouth.
“hhtKChuhhH!- hih'IKChuhHh!- hhKShuhhH!-”
Chan rested his head on the table, the sneezes having drained a lot of his energy, and Mingyu ran his hand up and down Chan's back. Chan felt miserable. He had known that the day would be tiring but he hadn't expected it to be this tiring. And he still had the entire day left for him to survive through. How fun.
When the class finally ended, Mingyu turned to Chan. “Are you sure you'll survive the rest of the day?” Mingyu asked, raising an eyebrow. Chan groaned, rubbing his hands across his face. “I don't know?! I do need the attendance, though.” Mingyu looked sympathetic when Chan looked back up at him. “Just…take care, okay.” Chan smiled at that despite himself. Soon, both of them were walking into their next class together. Reaching the seat farthest from the door, Chan immediately dropped his head on the table. Mingyu chuckled softly as he took the seat next to him. Chan turned to look at Mingyu, his head still resting on the table. “Could you take notes for me? I'm gonna try and fall asleep.”
Mingyu cooed internally at Chan. “Yeah, I'll take the notes. Just try to sleep, Channie. You definitely need it.” Chan nodded as he turned away from Mingyu and closed his eyes. He felt his eyelids grow heavy as he drifted off, the noise of the classroom fading into the background. After what felt like an hour or so, Mingyu shook Chan awake. “Wake up, Chan-ah! You have a modern dance class, don't you? You're gonna be late.” Chan immediately sat up straight, panicking a little as he packed his belongings and the notes Mingyu made leaving the class in a hurry, shouting out a thank you to him before running to the Arts building.
Thankfully, he was only a few minutes late to his modern dance class. Soonyoung had reached the class before him and was already going through some stretches. Chan gave him an apologetic smile as he dropped his bag and started stretching as well. The run across buildings to his class exposed Chan to the insanely high pollen count, making his breath start hitching again but he was determined to at least get through stretching without sneezing. That thought, however, was basically a lost cause. Chan hadn't been stretching for even 2 mins when his breath started hitching as the tickle in his sinuses piqued and he brought an arm up to his face, his head ducking towards his chest.
“hhAkTChuhHh!- hhKtChuHh!- hhkShuHhhH!-”
Chan's vision blurred as allergic tears filled his eyes. He sniffled wetly, rubbing his wrist against his nose as harshly as he could. That did nothing to make his nose stop running, instead making his breath catch as he brought his arm up to his face again, eyes fluttering shut.
“hhhKShuHhh!- hhkTChUhHh!- hhKtShUhhH!-”
Chan groaned as he sniffled again cautiously, standing up to warm up for class. He spotted Soonyoung, out of the corner of his eye, giving him a look. Before the other could say anything, Chan spoke up. “I'm not sick, hyung. I just have really bad pollen allergies. That's what's causing me to sneeze so much.” Soonyoung took in Chan's words before looking at him incredulously. “Shouldn't you be at home? Preferably somewhere with no pollen?” Chan rolled his eyes. “Hyung, I have my classes. I can't just skip class because of my allergies.” Soonyoung raised an eyebrow at him.
“Chan, I don't think I've ever seen you sneeze that much even when you're sick. How're you planning to dance today? Your sneezes sound really tiring and I doubt you're gonna stop anytime soon.” Chan wanted to argue with him but since their professor walked in, he just sighed.
Learning and practising choreography when he couldn't keep his eyes open for long enough without sneezing was a different kind of hell altogether. Chan was starting to regret stepping out of his apartment, his allergies getting worse by the second. He'd hate to admit that Seungkwan, Mingyu and Soonyoung were right but they were. He didn't think he could survive through any more dancing that day.
When their professor told them to split up and practice in different rooms, Soonyoung took Chan by the arm into another practice room and quickly shut the door. He then proceeded to walk up to Chan and pull him into a tight hug, Chan's body practically melting into the older one. Soonyoung stroked Chan's hair softly, a gesture similar to Seungkwan's as he urged Chan to relax. He did, almost leaning his entire body weight onto Soonyoung, his head on his shoulder. Finally, Chan pulled away from the hug, smiling at Soonyoung slightly. “Thank you, hyung. You don't know how much I needed that.” Soonyoung patted Chan's head.
“Believe me, I do. Do you still wanna practice?” Chan rolled his eyes but didn't stop smiling, Soonyoung smiling back at him. The moment was broken when Chan felt the urge to sneeze again. He cupped his hands over his nose and mouth as his chest rose and fell with hitching breaths.
“hhhkCHuHh!- hhKtShUhhH!- Ugh.”
“You should really get some rest, Chan-ah. And by that I mean, go home. Seungkwan's probably home by now.” Chan didn’t ask how the other knew about Seungkwan's schedule or the fact that he had been thinking about Seungkwan, instead deciding to pack up and go home for the day, for real. After saying his goodbyes to the rest of his batch mates, Chan walked back to his apartment, grateful for finally being able to get some rest.
When he walked into the apartment, he found Seungkwan seated at the table with an iced americano and his phone in front of him. He looked up when Chan walked in. “Hey! Didn't your classes end at 7? Why are you back so early?” Chan slumped on the couch in front of Seungkwan. “Soonyoung hyung told me to go home as I was getting pretty exhausted.” Seungkwan sighed heavily. “Didn't you tell me that you were gonna be okay? Though I can't say that I'm surprised. Just go take a shower. I'll order takeout later.”
Chan moved to hug Seungkwan, craving the comfort the older's hugs provided. Seungkwan pretended to be disgusted but he let Chan cling to him for as long as he needed. Chan whispered a thank you to Seungkwan before heading to his room to take a shower. As Chan entered the bathroom, he immediately turned the shower to the highest heat as he stepped in, the heat helping his tense muscles relax a little. He stood there for a while, the steam helping his congestion lighten. That in turn made his nose run and made the tickle at the back of his sinuses return. Chan rubbed a hand over his face and leaned his head on the cool wall next to him. His breath hitched with the oncoming sneeze and his eyes closed, his head ducking to his chest.
“hhhKtShuhhH!- hh'IkkShuHh!- hh'ItkChuhhH!-”
The sneezes made his nose run even more but at least he could freely breathe through his nose now. Chan quickly finished showering after that, throwing on a hoodie and sweatpants as he joined Seungkwan in the living room again. Seungkwan had moved to the couch as he casually flicked through Netflix, picking something to watch while eating. Chan took a seat next to Seungkwan, immediately resting his head on Seungkwan's shoulder. Seungkwan turned on a drama and Chan yawned widely, the exhaustion from the day fully catching up to him. Seungkwan laughed from his side. “You're that tired, huh?” Chan pouted at that. “I took a nap during one of my classes. I guess it's the constant sneezing that tired me out.” Seungkwan giggled at the indignation in Chan's voice as the drama began to play.
They stayed like that till the takeout Seungkwan had ordered arrived at their apartment. As Seungkwan moved to open the door for the delivery man, Chan whined, not wanting the other to go. Seungkwan hit Chan lightly on the head as he pulled away from his grasp and went to open the door. Chan was left alone in front of the TV as he waited for Seungkwan to get back. Seungkwan returned with 2 plates full of fried chicken and he handed one to Chan.
Chan took it gratefully, leaning his head on Seungkwan again when he sat down. They ate together in silence only broken by the soft sniffles from Chan. After they had finished, Chan cuddled close to Seungkwan again, yawning again. Seungkwan pulled out a blanket from under the couch and threw it over both of them. The TV continued to play as Chan and Seungkwan fell into comfortable silence again. That was until Chan's breath started hitching again. His chest rising and falling with desperate gasps, he quickly buried his face in the neck of his hoodie, his eyes fluttering shut.
"hh'NgtChuHh!- hh'ItShuhHh!- hh'NgtChhH!-”
Seungkwan looked over at him, concern written all over his face. “Bless-”
Chan shook his head knowing he wasn't even nearly done sneezing. Soon enough his breath started hitching again, his eyes closing, and he cupped his hands over his nose and mouth.
“hhAkTChuhHh!- hhItShUhhH!- hh'KtShuhHh!- Ugh.”
Chan sniffled wetly, blinking the allergic tears out of his eyes. Seungkwan handed Chan a pack of tissues and Chan took it gratefully, taking some out and blowing his nose. "Bless you, Channie.”
“Thank you. And you know, you don't have to keep blessing me. You're gonna get tired of it soon enough.”
Seungkwan rolled his eyes at that. “As if. I've dealt with your terrible allergies for like 2 years since we started rooming together and I'd like to say that I've gotten used to it. Also, shouldn't you try to get some sleep right about now? You look tired as hell.” Seungkwan sounded annoyed yet fond and Chan laughed at his tone. “You're right. I should get some sleep.” He admitted but instead of going to his own bed, he decided to lean against Seungkwan instead, closing his eyes. Seungkwan let out the most dramatic sound he could muster as he let Chan wrap an arm around him, feeling his own eyes closing. As Chan drifted off, he heard Seungkwan whisper something to him.
“What did you say?” He asked groggily. Seungkwan opened his eyes and lightly kissed Chan's hair. And even though the lights were dimmed, there was no hiding the pink dusting Chan's cheeks. “You know I love you, right? Even when I don't show it? Because I do love you, Chan. I hope you remember that.” Chan stilled, Seungkwan's words catching him by surprise. He definitely hadn't expected that. “Thank you, Seungkwan-ah. And I love you too. I always have. Thank you for always being here for me.” Seungkwan pulled Chan closer to him as they both fell asleep and if Chan thought about Seungkwan's words for the entire night, no one would know any better.

Love the headcanons about Icemav moving in together, can I request some more fluffy headcanons (topic of your choosing)? I have a long day tomorrow and this is a happy distraction :)
Aw I'm glad I can help with some nice head canons! I hope your day goes by fast! So much credit to my lovely gf @nb-fearne any head canons I have are always mostly hers honestly
Ice and Maverick have a dog, a collie called Piper after the type of plane, she's one of those dogs who is simultaneously far too clever and incredibly stupid, like she will get herself on the roof somehow or figure out out to open the freezer and throw everything everywhere and theres no way they've yet found to keep her from coming into their room at night. She is a menace and both of her dads adore her and spoil her rotten
They're both Big sports guys, like whenever they're just cuddling on the couch and need something to watch, they'll get ridiculously into any sport thats on the TV, even ones they've never watched before. Their big favourites though are football for Ice and baseball for Maverick
Ice can't sleep without reading a few pages of a book, it's what switches his brain off. Maverick however isn't a big reader (I do headcanon him as having ADHD so thats a contributor) but he needs help switching his brain off. So they've developed something of a tradition where Ice will read aloud to him while Maverick curls up with his head on Ice's chest and it helps them both drift off.
One of Ice's favourite hobbies is baking. One of Maverick's favourite hobbies is sitting on the kitchen counter and Looking Disrespectfully as his husband bakes, specifically at him kneading dough with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and muscles doing that Thing they do.
This is completely an @nb-fearne creation but it's perfect and I love it, but Ice and Maverick always play the radio in the kitchen and if a sappy song comes on, they'll slow dance and Maverick will sing it softly to Ice, specifically Stand By Me
When Jake and Bradley eventually have kids, Ice and Maverick absolutely adore being grandpas. They definitely spoil the hangster kids and will never ever say no to babysitting, even before Bradley says what day he'd need them, the answer is just yes

"I really like you too..."
⇄Pairing: Yuta Aoi/gn!reader
⇆Cw: none! Friends to lovers, fluff, idk what else to tag
⇄A/n: I've been working on this fic for a while and decided now would be a good time to post it, i had some schoolwork so i couldn't post anything so enjoy <33
Tumblr media
"I don't know what to do Nagisa, Kaoru! I really like Yuta but I'm just a friend of his. We barely have things in common and Hinata's always around me" Kaoru sighed, patting your shoulder as Nagisa took a sip of tea, the same one sitting across from you, placed neatly on the table.
"I mean, I've never seen him act strange whenever he comes back from practice"
"Me neither, I think the best you can do is try to spend more time with him" Nagisa commented, smiling as he saw them drink the tea he prepared. Y/n wasn't a fan of tea but, they couldn't turn down such an offer from their friend.
"I could try that, thanks Nagisa....shoot, I completely forgot Yuta wanted me to attend today's practice! I have to go, thanks for all the advice!" With that, Y/n quickly ran towards the practice room.
"Do you think they'll ever get the hint?" Kaoru asked as Nagisa chuckled
"Perhaps, we just have to wait some more"
Tumblr media
"Yuta! I hope i arrived...early?"
"Y/n! Yes yes, we're just setting up the studio" Yuta said as he smiled brightly, not wanting you to do any hard labor by moving boxes, Hinata insisted you stood put until they finished. After what seemed like hours of unloading and preparing everything, it was quite late by the time they finished to begin practicing, so they called it off.
"You guys deserve to rest today, we'll work on everything tomorrow, sleep well!" Y/n bid their goodbyes, exiting the room, not long after a voice yelled from behind them.
"Wait! Can I, at least accompany you to your dorm?" Requested Yuta, who was now clinging onto your arm. You smiled and slightly blushed at his actions, nodding while walking beside each other. Unfortunately, you left your jacket in the practice room, not to mention it was freezing outside. A sudden warmth developed around them as they looked at Yuta who was now giving them his jacket they tried to refuse but before they could utter a word he beat them to it
"You'll get a cold, don't worry about me I'll be fine!"
"Are you sure? I wouldn't want you to get sick as well" He nodded, unsure of wrapping his arm around your waist, without thinking twice, he leaned forward, accidentally meeting halfway. Pulling away in shock, Yuta stared at them touching their lips slightly
"I'm so sorry! I-" Y/n chuckled, pulling their key from their bag, smiling
"It's okay Yuta, I'll see you tomorrow, sleep well!"
Tumblr media
He wanted to die.
Yuta couldn't stop thinking about how embarrassing that was. Still, it was inevitable to think about their smile and slight blush after the 'accidental' kiss. He curled up in his bed as Nagisa and Kaoru couldn't help but worry
"Yuta...what's wrong? You've been acting strange ever since you came back from practice"
"Its just...' -he took a deep breath, taking away the blanket that was covering his body-'we accidentally kissed...it wasn't on purpose or anything, I just didn't realize how close we were"
"Oh my god, so you're officially a couple?" Asked Kaoru who looked happier, more than Yuta it seemed. Yuta ,on the contrary, blushed while wrapping his blanked around him once again.
"We are? I'm not sure, they probably don't like me back" Hearing this, Kaoru chuckled as Nagisa smiled, leaving him even more confused than before.
"Oh Yuta, you'll know soon enough"
Tumblr media
Just thinking about seeing them again made him even more nervous. Entering the dance studio, Hinata ran towards his brother, an excited look on his face.
"Yuta!! Y/n is looking for you, they're on the roof"
"Oh, thanks for telling me Hinata, i'll head over there" grinning, Hinata bid his brother a farewell, not minding how fast he ran to meet them. Setting a foot in the roof, Yuta watched in awe as he saw Y/n stand there with a bouquet of his favorite flowers
"Y/n...? What's all this?"
"Yuta, we should talk" He agreed, softly sitting beside you, holding your unoccupied hand while blushing
"I've been thinking about yesterday...and i can't help but imagine how good we would look together.." Y/n smiled, handing Yuta the flowers they bought for him, as they kissed his cheek. Feeling confident, Yuta grabbed their chin, pulling them in for a kiss
"I really like you too.."

Mutual Senses (Octopath Traveler II, Agnea/Hikari)
AO3 Link
Simple and rustic though it may be, the sleepy senses of Cropdale were anything but ordinary. The sweet fragrance of sunflowers and morning glories, wafting about and tickling one’s nostrils. The glistening dew of its prized produce, begging for a taste. The sound of giggling children and yelping dogs, promising another uneventful day. The delicate grass crunching beneath one’s feet, the bountiful earth swelling beneath dirt-caked footwear. The breathtaking sight of its glowing fireflies, dancing their nightly waltz amongst the trees.
All this and more buoyed their stolen moments together – found in the hidden meadow just outside the village. The flowery scent of her hair mixed amid the smell of foreign sands laced within his regal garments. His warm smile beheld in her big blue eyes wide as the sky. The bells of her laughter mingling with the rumbling of his chuckling throat. The strength of his grip clutching close her silk-soft frame.
The taste of each other’s lips, joined together in kiss after kiss.
It’d become routine, these trysts of theirs. As they regularly stole each other away from their duties -- her, pursuing the glitz and glamour of stardom; him, reigning over a reborn kingdom – they spent these treasured respites doing nothing but indulging upon the other. Talking. Singing. Laughing. Playing. Dancing. Observing. Embracing.
It was all wonderful, simply too much, yet just enough for one dark thought to invade their paradise – stretching across the twilit rays of the setting sun until it grew unavoidable.
“Hikari,” Agnea dared to whisper, “do you think this’ll last forever?”
The fingers threading through auburn locks ceased in their movement, and when they suddenly clutched her head – nestled against his shoulder – did she know he’d thought the same.
But she met his golden eyes then, as firm and arresting as they ever were – melting the worries festering beneath her bubbly exterior, just as they’d done over and over in their journey.
“It doesn’t matter,” said Hikari, his thumb tracing the soft curve of her bottom lip, “because I have you, Agnea Bristarni.” He leaned down to kiss the shell of her ear. “And you, me.”
“O-oh! Hikari!” giggled Agnea as he continued kissing down her jaw, indulging upon the sweet flavor of her skin.
In this moment right here, right now, in this secret meadow of theirs, they had as long as they needed – for here, there was only Agnea Bristarni, singing promises of tomorrow as Hikari rested upon her lap; for here, there was only Hikari Ku, the steady heartbeat beating beneath his strong chest that lulled Agnea into still reverie.
Within the confines of calculations and deductions their companions adhered to, “how long could this last” had no logical answer – but as their lips came together, they knew they had their answer.
Because it was love that brought them together; again and again, without fail. Love that persisted even within the rigors of their responsibilities. Love that made promises true in treasured touches, silly sounds, sweet smells, tender tastes and spellbinding sights. Pure, passionate, overflowing, idyllic, perfect love.
----------
In the interest of upping my writing output, I've embarked on a short-form writing venture that I'm hoping will regularly bear fruit. Took a little too long to materialize for my tastes, but at any rate, you've witnessed the first step of this undertaking.
It's a wonder just how *alive* HD-2D is in spite of itself -- which I suppose is the goal -- so you could say my theme here was illustrating that juxtaposition in written form. (Truth be told, this originally gestated as a bigger idea regarding Agnea and Hikari's respective stations as commoner/royalty -- perhaps that'll come into the world one day?)
I can't promise they'll be as fluffy as this, but here's to more Agkari in the future! #OctopathTraveler2 #AgneaBristarni #HikariKu

Day Two: Favorite Interpretation
Death takes a while.
The body doesn't surrender easily. It labors and struggles through blood spilling from wounds in rivulets; through age and infection and mutation; through ischemic cell damage and faltering brain tissue and the insurmountable armory of death—the body endures, until it can't anymore.
The mind endures as well. Or it tries.
People are stubborn. Bullheaded. Stupidly convinced that eventually, they'll push past the wall and find themselves in some transcendent tomorrow. She's stubborn too, she supposes. Clinging to false hope of some grand, sweeping change that will give her the life she wants, some karmic reward for—what exactly? Doing what was asked of her? Not throwing her own family to the wolves? Does she really think she deserves some splendid future of music and passion for doing the bare minimum?
A stupid hope. She clings to it still.
Her dreams of ancient concert halls, reverberating with symphonic majesty, have not yet been snuffed out. Not for lack of trying. She throws herself into her work, tries to make housework her art, redirect her passions to something sensible. Nevertheless, her mind always wanders, caught up in fantasies of keys beneath her fingers, handwritten sheet music before her, and a gentle hand upon her shoulder. A voice in her ear saying “look, dear, at what we have created together”.
When she crawls into bed after a long night of hand-scraping dishes and frowning over bills, her brain betrays her, casting her in the role of a talented up-and-coming musician, respected and liked by her peers. Living in a modest but cozy apartment, composing by day and playing to hushed crowds by night. She imagines herself in a larger, nicer bed than this one, still replaying the sonata she played that night, safe in the arms of a kindred spirit.
She tries to kill these dreams, but deep down she wonders if they're not, in turn, killing her.
Death takes a while.
Morning comes. She rises. Cooks. Drives her siblings to school. Works. Picks up her siblings. Comes home. Cleans. Cooks. Helps with homework. Works through the family's finances after the others have gone to bed (they don't need to worry, they don't need to know). Sleeps.
Rises.
Cooks.
Cleans.
Sleeps.
Rises.
Cooks.
Cleans.
Sleeps.
Rises.
Cooks—
A theater hidden away from the world, decked in red and black and green. Secluded and splendid. A place no one knows. No one but you. You could stay there, for a while. For as long as you wish. Stay, and create, alone in this perfect refuge. Stay, and retreat from the endless procession of identical days. Stay. Stay. Stay.
“Scarlet?”
She pulls herself free from the fantasy. In her distraction, she’d minced the vegetables they were supposed to have for dinner into an inedible dust. The knife, clean and sharp, gleams in the flickering fluorescence of the kitchen.
She turns away from the counter and looks down at her sister. Rose’s brow is furrowed. She hugs herself and grimaces as she looks up at her de-facto (distant, foolish, absent-minded, poor-excuse-for-a) guardian.
“What’s the matter, Rose?”
“Is everything okay? You seem a little” Rose gestures absently, fumbling for the right word. “…Troubled.”
She considers, for a single insane moment, telling her the truth.
No, Rose, everything isn’t okay. Your siblings are acting out, I'm having to choose between rent and Ruby's medicine, and your grandmother is probably dying. Everything’s falling apart and I can’t even bring myself to care because the only thing that feels real anymore is the fantasy I can’t kill.
But she stops herself, and forces her face into a convincing smile.
“Everything’s fine. I’m just a bit tired, that’s all.”
Rose looks as unconvinced as Scarlet feels.
That night, she dreams of a duet. Of a lilting dance of harmonies so perfect, so sublime, that she wakes up in tears. It’s an odd sensation. She hasn’t properly cried since she was ten. Feeling childish, she goes to the bathroom to splash some water on her face and school her expression into its usual placid mask. As she’s heading into the kitchen and start breakfast, the phone rings.
Mother.
Someone needs to bring food and wine to their grandmother. She’s not feeling well, you see, and she would just be over the moon to get a visit from one of her lovely grandchildren.
Well.
She could use the exercise.
The drive to the path is uneventful. The soft morning sun and the cries of countless birds don’t even register as she walks the familiar path without straying.
Until.
Until, a stone’s throw away from her grandmother’s house.
She hears the music.
The duet from her dream.
In the woods. Close enough to taste.
Before she knows it, her feet are off the path, and her mind is a thousand miles away, wrapped up in sonatas and symphonies that promise to silence her every agony.
Into the forest she walks.
To a theater hidden away from the world, decked in red and black and green.

Her Song part 6
LED lights flash on beat with the electric guitar. Everyone is practically screaming, singing along with the band's cover of "Heaven's On Fire" by KISS. VIP night was technically supposed to be over an hour ago, but everybody is having way too much fun for me to end it now. Plus, I'm getting mad tips.
And I'm fairly certain that a few people snuck in alcohol, but I'm going to pretend I don't notice. Ash took Syd home an hour ago and agreed to watch her, so what do I care if people get a little rowdy. Except Zach. I'd be alright if he dialed it back a notch and kept his hands off Florence's body for five seconds.
God, I wish I could be drunk right now.
"Y/N, hey! These nights don't usually go this way!" I hear someone yell from behind me. I turn around to face them, and see a beautiful woman giving me a hazy smile.
"Oh, hey, Willow! I didn't know you were here!" I yell back over the music. Willow goes to school with Ash, and we may or may not have worked together at a certain club in the past. I've always loved hanging out with her, but I guess I've never thought of pursuing anything more.
"Yeah, I got here a couple of hours ago. It's been way too long since we've hung out. You wanna go grab a drink after this?" she asks as she steps closer to talk over the music.
"Uh, I don't know if I should. I mean, Ash is watching Syd and..."
"Come on, they'll be fine. Knowing them, they're probably already asleep. Just one drink."
I mull it over as my eyes travel across the room, spotting Florence dancing with Zach. With a sigh, I reluctantly agree. "Yeah, okay. Why not?"
"Yes! I promise you won't regret it," she celebrates.
"You better hope not," I joke with a small smirk. "I'll have the band wrap up and then close down, okay?"
"Deal," she says with a wink, sauntering back off into the crowd.
Laughing, I cross the room and beckon over one of the band members. I tell them to play one more song and they agree, so I walk back to the cafe bar to shut everything down. When the music stops, David turns the lights back on and I send Ash a text.
Me: Hey, I'm going out for a drink with Willow. I don't know when I'll be back so just put Syd to bed, please.
Ash: Willow as in the hot chick you used to work with at the club?!? Get it, girl!
Me: I'm gonna kill you. It's just a drink.
Ash: Oh, right. I forgot you have your heart set on the Brit. Don't worry about Syd, she's already out for the count. Don't forget to use protection! ;)
Me: That's not how that works. But thank you.
Florence comes up to the counter and says, "Hey, we're gonna head out. Tonight was a lot of fun."
"Good, I'm glad. Will I see you tomorrow?"
"You can count on it," she promises with a sweet smile.
Just then, Willow waltzes over to the counter and drawls, "You ready to go? I believe I promised you a night of fun."
Florence smiles bitterly at Willow, sending her a glare before turning around and walking away. She stops at the door and says, "Don't miss me too much," with a flirty wink. What the hell was that about?
"Damn, my bad. Didn't mean to piss off the illicit affair," Willow quips.
"Wait what?"
"She was totally jealous. Look, I don't wanna step on anyone's toes here-"
"You aren't, I promise. She has a boyfriend."
"Well in that case, can I buy you a drink?"
"Maybe once we actually get to a real bar. You might wanna save some of your moves for later, cowboy."
"Oh, don't worry. I've got plenty of moves I'd like to show you," she practically whispers, her eyes darting between my eyes and lips.
I clear my throat and say, "Yep, that's- that's good. Great, so we should get going."
Fumbling with my keys, I lead her out of the store and lock the doors behind us. We spend the next few hours at a bar downtown, laughing and singing and drinking way more than we probably should.
I walk her to her apartment since it's only a few blocks down from mine. Pausing in front of the doors, she looks down at her feet and says, "I had a lot of fun tonight, Y/N. It's nice hanging out with you outside of...that environment."
"Yeah, it's nice to be fully clothed and not have creepy men slipping dollar bills in our thongs," I deadpan. "Honestly, though, tonight is the first time I've gone out in a long time, and it was really fun, so thank you."
"Anytime," she whispers with a smile. I take a step back to walk away, but she asks, "Wait, can I- can I kiss you?"
Instead of answering verbally, I cup her cheek and pull her into a gentle kiss. It's slow and sweet, and everything a first kiss should be, but there just isn't that feeling of fireworks and warmth. It doesn't feel the way Florence makes me feel every time she looks at me.
I pull away and say, "Goodnight, Willow," before walking away.
"Goodnight, Brandy," she teasingly calls after me, using my former stripper name.
I spin on my heels and yell, "No way. Do not call me that, asshole! If my legs aren't wrapped around a metal pole, then Brandy is not my name."
She laughs and I flip her off, walking backwards down the street toward my apartment.
~
The next morning, I awake with a loud groan, followed by, "Ash, turn off the fucking lights!"
"That's the sun, sweetheart. Can't exactly turn it off. But I can give you advil," she says, plopping down next to me on the bed and handing me a bottle of ibuprofen.
"Ugh, you're a godsend. I could kiss you right now," I mumble as I take the pills with a swig of water.
"I know. Speaking of which, how did last night go?" she asks, wiggling her eyebrows.
"It was fine. We had fun. Hence the hangover."
"Don't hold out on me now, Brandy. Did you kiss? Fuck? Buy a house and get married?"
"Oh my god, what is it with everyone calling me Brandy lately? And we kissed goodnight. But that was it."
"Really? You don't sound very excited."
"Yeah, I mean...it was nice. But-"
"But you'd rather be locking lips with the hot blonde Brit?" she finishes for me.
"God, you're so weird. C'mon, I need to get ready for work."
"I had David open it up, since you were slightly incapacitated. So take your time."
I took a quick shower and got ready for work before waking Syd up and forcing her to get ready. I ended up having to carry her to the car because she fell back asleep.
Eventually, we made it to the store. And only an hour late. I really need a better alarm clock...
"Morning, David. Sorry I'm late," I greet him.
"Mom refused to wake up. It's all her fault," Syd accuses me.
"Yeah, right. Don't lie; we're late because you wouldn't get your ass out of bed," I correct her.
"You said ass! That's a dollar in the swear jar."
"We don't have a swear jar. And you said it, too."
"It's fine, guys. And don't worry, your favorite customer hasn't stopped by yet," David interjects from behind the counter.
"Thank you, David," I sigh, ushering Syd to go do something while I put my bags in the back room and get ready for the day.
The bell above the door rings as I walk back out into the main area, and I look up to see Florence with a tired smile adorning her face.
"Good morning, Florence," I greet cheerily, before noticing that she looks kind of upset. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah, it's nothing. Just tired, that's all. How was your night?"
"It was alright. Not worth how tired I was this morning, though," I joke as I make her tea.
"So...Willow, huh? She seems nice. She's very pretty."
"Uh, yeah, she is. We aren't- I mean her and I aren't, like, together or anything," I stutter uncomfortably.
"Right," she mumbles under her breath.
I turn around and grab a sharpie, writing "I Wanna Be Yours by Arctic Monkeys" on the paper to-go cup. She barely even looks at me as she pays. She leaves without so much as saying goodbye, and I sigh heavily. Why is she so upset?
"Hot damn. Trouble in paradise?" David says with a low whistle.
I scoff and mutter, "What paradise?"

Snuggly Len
(A little Hello, Sunshine prequel)
August, 1961
It's Midge who picks him up in a hired car when he gets out of the treatment center. She'd flown across the country to do it, and Lenny's whole heart hurts with that knowledge, because it feels like love, but he's only been clean for two-and-a-half months.
But here she is.
"Look at you all sunny and tan," Midge teases gently, beaming at him from under her sun hat.
"They make you go outside a lot at this place," he explains. He wrinkles his nose. "Nature walks, shit like that."
"You look good," she tells him.
"I look good? You look good in your pretty dress and your floppy hat," he tells her.
"Oh, well thank you," Midge laughs softly. "The TV gig pays very well, so I get to keep up with my hats."
"I know it's going well, I watch every week," Lenny tells her, and he's rewarded with that big, happy smile. "You're so good, Midge. I knew you would be."
She nods. "Yes, you did."
They stand in silence for a long time after that, before both shaking loose from the feeling of being in each other's orbits yet again. They get dinner out, Lenny enjoying a glass of scotch with his meal and a couple of cigarettes as they sit outside near the water at the little outdoor café, watching the sun go down before they head back to his house.
"Sally took Kitty to the beach," Midge says. "They'll be back tomorrow afternoon."
"Oh," Lenny says quietly. "I guess I was kind of hoping Kitty'd be here..."
Midge takes his hand and squeezes it. "Sally thinks it's best to ease everybody in. You get a good night's sleep tonight, start getting used to being home again, and then you get to go into dad mode."
"No. Right. Yeah." He shoves his hands into the pockets of his jeans and scuffs his foot. "I bet you've gotta get going though...big fancy life back in New York. Kids. Parents. Jell-O molds," he teases lightly.
"My flight leaves tomorrow night," she tells him. "So I'm going to stay the night here with you, and we can get some breakfast in you in the morning, and you can have a meltdown about being out of rehab before Kitty and Sally get here."
"I'm not gonna melt down. I swear," he promises, before relenting. "Though I might possibly...get a little melted. But not much. Just a little sticky."
Midge looks up and shakes her head. "How many ejaculate jokes just ran through your head?"
"Three and one about personal lubricant," Lenny confesses.
"Nice to know treatment didn't change you too much," she grins.
"I have a reputation to uphold, after all."
They both laugh softly at that, and then there's an awkward sort of dance about getting ready for bed. Midge claims the guestroom down the hall as Lenny takes a shower - a real at-home shower with privacy and a real razor to shave his stubble with, and his own towels.
It all feels so good. In a perfect world he wouldn't have taken that shower alone, but as much as he wants Midge - wants her so badly - he knows he's not ready, and it's unlikely that she's ready to considering she's the one who found him mostly dead on his apartment floor back in June.
She swore to him that he was forgiven, and he's not sure she'll ever forgive him enough to be with him. Not like that. Not really.
So he slips into fresh undershorts, but decides against the undershirt. It's hot after all, and then taps on the guestroom door.
She opens the door, wearing her own version of 'it's too fucking hot here' clothes: a little pink camisole and matching shorts.
And now they're both staring at each other like idiots.
Good. Well done.
"I just- wanted to make sure you didn't need anything before I turned in," he tells her.
"I'm okay," she promises. She hesitates for a moment before leaning up with a hand on his bare chest, kissing his cheek. "Goodnight, Lenny."
When she pulls back, neither of them move.
Until they do.
A lot.
It's like a fucking car crash, the way they kiss each other, the way they stumble back into the guestroom and onto the bed.
"This is all your fault," he tells her as they wrestle each other out of their clothes. "With your cheek kisses and your tiny fucking shorts."
"It's hot here," she argues breathlessly. "And I was- Oh god, Lenny-" he's slipped his hand down those tiny shorts after getting her onto the bed. "I was trying to be affectiona-" she doesn't get the rest of the word out because it comes out as a wrenched squeak when his fingers connect with just the location he'd been searching for.
Thank god he keeps condoms in the guestrooms, because things escalate quickly. It turns out neither of them have done this since just before Carnegie Hall the year before and it makes for some truly desperate lovemaking. He uses his fingers to drive her through her first climax, and they make good - great, really - use of the condom after that.
And when it's over he cannot seem to make himself let go of her. He just can't. Midge is soft and pliant in his arms, and it feels so good to be with her again like this.
He finds his voice a few moments later as her fingers twist through his hair lovingly. He thinks. It feels like love.
"Can I stay in here with you tonight?" he asks quietly, his arms tightening a little around her.
"I think it's funny that you thought I'd want you to leave," Midge tells him, smiling and kissing him gently.
He kisses her back and relaxes bonelessly into the mattress. "I...I want you to know Midge, that this...I can't..."
Be with her.
Not really.
Not yet.
"I know," she says softly, her voice a little sad. "I know you can't. But at least we got to have this. Tonight. I really missed you."
Lenny buries an almost inaudible "I love you" into her neck, and closes his eyes, and hopes that tomorrow never fucking comes to take her away, even though it inevitably will.

hey!! i’m kinda sad today, do you have any snippets that are very silly or maybe wesper kissing or … both? alternately, any favorite fics or bits of fics you’ve already posted that you think fit that energy? do you come back to any of your own fics when you’re sad? any other wesper writers you love for those moments?
ohh hello love i'm sorry to hear that! here's my pick of ficlets on tumblr that are soft and fluffy:
(1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8)
also because in the hopes this cheers you up a bit i wrote this for u:
They aren't drunk, not really. Wylan knows he isn't, at the very least, and he can tell by this point in their relationship that Jesper's clumsy fumbling and half-slurred words because he's just feeling jolly is no indicator of his sobriety. He's a lightweight, that's just a fact, but now -- he isn't drunk.
He's smiling, though. He's laughing at every other silly little thing, and has his arm thrown over Wylan's shoulder to keep him close. Wylan doesn't mind.
They aren't drunk, but they aren't quite sober, either. Just pleased to be with each other. There's rain outside like there always often is, and the candles are all burning low. Tomorrow they're expecting Inej, and have every reason to believe she'll bring Kaz. A dinner party, of sorts, a gathering, a night.
But now, it's just the two of them, standing together in the middle of the parlour. Wylan's mother has retired, and their staff are up in their quarters. They'll wait to listen for a bell if either Wylan or Jesper ring, but Wylan doesn't think they'll bother. They're okay as they are, just the two of them.
They stood to go to bed themselves, and Wylan certainly felt the floaty haze of all that gin start to settle over him. He isn't entirely sure that that's the only reason why they're both now just standing in the middle of the room, almost dancing but not quite. More so swaying -- but that's not something he's going to complain about.
"Isn't it strange," he says, then cuts himself off to hum. Wylan wants to giggle, wants to laugh, but he rolls his lips together to stem the flare of liquour fueled impatience and hear what Jesper has to say. "Isn't it strange," he starts again, "that we're just a family? The two of us, I mean. And your Ma. But-- we're a family, Wy."
Wylan feels his heart stutter. His face goes warm.
Oh, they are a family, aren't they?
"Yeah," he says, and he can't say it without a smile. Jesper grins down at him, wide enough that it's a bit silly -- but so Jesper that Wylan's chest aches.
So he doesn't complain when Jesper turns, keeping his wrists resting gently on the curve of Wylan's shoulders. He wouldn't complain anyway, but he certainly doesn't when Jesper leans down and kisses him, deep and permanent but soft and caring, too. Wylan doesn't stumble or waver, even though Jesper rocks forward just a bit to kiss him a little bit more.
Wylan kisses him back. He giggles, too, and feels Jesper's lips spread in a grin that's undeniable and absolutely, utterly adoring.
They're a family, the two of them, and what's better than that?
