seungmin - minnie is shy!! not necessarily in the giggly, blushy, stuttery way like chan. seungmin is more modest, reserved, and quiet—a lil awkward abt it. out of all the boys, i think he would be the least inclined to try pegging, and he definitely isn’t the one to bring it up, so that’s all in your hands. when you suggest incorporating it into your dynamic, at first he’d probably be pretty unwilling to explore it and just flat out says no bc he just doesn’t think he could feel fully comfortable w smth like that. but, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t spend a lot of time mulling it over in private, even after he’s initially rejected the idea. his lil analytical virgo brain starts to think abt why you’d be interested in pegging in the first place, the new kinds of pleasure it would bring you both, the intimacy of an act like that, and how it might bring you and him closer together to experience. do not be fooled by his composure, kim seungmin is a sentimental softie who is very in touch w his emotions!! his desire to connect w you however he can extends to all facets of your relationship, and as daunting as the vulnerability of subbing can be for him sometimes, that vulnerability is the exact same reason why he values it so much. so, eventually, he decides that the same can be applied to bottoming for the first time and he changes his own mind hehe
he wants to be good for you. he’s so disciplined and obedient, he takes it very seriously and is genuinely a perfect sub (when he wants to be lol, sometimes he’s difficult on purpose) but when trying smth so out of his wheelhouse for the first time, he has some trouble shaking the awkwardness which makes him a lil stiff, a bit less pliant than usual. poor seungmo can’t help but be hyperaware of every sound he lets slip out, every expression he makes, every embarrassing, involuntary reaction his body has to your minstrations. so you can imagine how all of that would be turned up to a 100 when it comes to pegging bc all the focus is on him and his pleasure. he isn’t used to having that degree of attention on his body, esp not…those parts of his body. he’s even shyer than you’re used to during foreplay, just letting a few sighs and grunts slip and looking away timidly when you stare at him for too long. you’d have to be extra observant of his reactions and facial expressions to see what he likes the most, bc he has a tendency to suppress himself. one thing he does make sure to do though is periodically let you know that he’s still okay, through a quick lil nod or hand squeeze. he’d prefer to start out w him lying on his tummy, not facing you. it spares him the embarrassment of you seeing his features twist in pleasure, and he can also push his face into the pillows to mask all his noises. he might wanna wear a big hoodie or sweater to cover up his body too. i think he’d spend extra time adjusting in comparison to the other boys, partially bc he’s nervous n partially bc he wants to bask in the moment a bit. kinda like lix, he really values the closeness of just being connected like that and stays unmoving w you inside him for a while <3 he starts off swallowing down his noises so they only come out as cute, hushed lil whimpers, but as you start to ease in and out of him, even he can’t hold back as much as he wants to. it feels so strange but so relieving, almost like you’re fulfilling a desire he hadn’t even known was there until now. he mostly lets out gentle exhales and mewls, and when you hit his sweet spot for the first time, a full on gasp, which is pretty dramatic for seungmin hehe. even if you can’t see his expressions, you can see his fingers digging into the sheets and his muscles clenching with effort and his hips starting to rock into the mattress. if you leaned down to press kisses down his spine, he would shudder so beautifully n let out the sweetest moan for you. when he’s far gone enough to give in completely to the pleasure, he goes limp beneath you and allows you to flip him over so you can finally get a look at his pretty blissed out face. and when you do, he looks up at you w the most adoring lovestruck puppy gaze like you put the stars in the sky, just pure hearts floating in his big brown eyes that immediately lets you know he’s way more into this than either of you thought he’d be 🥰
jeongin - like binnie, i think there’s a good chance he might be kinda clueless as to what pegging even really is, so he wouldn’t be the one to suggest it first or even consider it an option. when you first introduce the idea to him, poor innie sputters smth like “eh? that’s a thing????” and you can practically see a whole new world of possibilities opening up in his wide, sparkly eyes. it makes his heart race a bit if he’s being honest, but he also feels a lil unsure abt it bc he’s never even really thought abt having anything…go inside of him…just imagining it gets him all squirmy, red in the face, n playing nervously w his ears. he’d probably call you a perv at first for even wanting smth like that and acts like he isn’t interested in trying it…however…just like seungmin, do not be fooled!! he spends the next several days thinking abt it, maybe a lil too often. in innie’s case he keeps going back to it partially out of curiosity, and partially bc he is very much a pleaser who craves your approval deep down, almost to the same degree as chan and jisung. he just doesn’t want you to know that hehe…unfortunately for him it’s kinda obvious in the way he brings it up many times afterwards, mostly through asking questions that he thinks are casual like “so…*clears throat* how big would it even be?” or “is it really supposed to feel that good?” or even nagging you like “seriously, why’d you have to say smth so weird? now i can’t stop thinking abt it” w lots of awkward giggles to make it seem like a joke but when he’s constantly making lil comments abt it unprovoked you quickly start to catch on hehe…he looks so genuinely hopeful and curious without even realizing, you can’t help but tease him a bit for how transparent he is
i think innie really wants to impress you! as you’re leading into the pegging he’s extra nervous and kinda out of his element, bc he feels like he can’t really do anything to appeal to you like usual…he sometimes tends to lean into the role of a service sub bc he feeds off your praises like nothing else. he loves when you teach him how to please you properly, even more so when he does it right and earns a proud reaction from you, a moan or a headpat and a "good boy". but when he’s the one getting all the pleasure…well, as much as he craves being the center of your attention, he inevitably gets a bit bashful. he will be hiding his face a lot, covering his eyes w his fingers or clamping his hand over his mouth trying to stifle himself bc the sounds that are leaving his lips are embarrassingly loud. like channie, he'd need a lot of praise and reassurance through it all! he can't even try to pretend like he's confident or knows what he's doing, and the entire time he's watching you w the widest, most fascinated gaze that gives away how much he really depends on you to guide him through it. he giggles so much, both out of shyness and in an attempt to ease his nerves. he can barely get a sentence out without tripping over his words or letting out breathy lil chuckles, and you have to periodically remind him to loosen up a bit as you're fingering him open bc he stiffens every time a jolt of pleasure passes through him. it’s all so unfamiliar but so good, he feels like he has no control over his body anymore, and that only amplifies once you actually slide your strap inside. he is gasping and writhing and letting out the most shameless moans he's ever heard in his life, but as much as it makes his face burn red, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself no matter how hard he tried. the best way to get him to relax and completely melt into it is to whisper sweet words to him through it all, tell him how pretty he looks and sounds when he’s feeling good, how well he's taking every inch of you even when he’s so tight, how he's such a good boy and a fast learner <3 jeongin quickly learns that the praises you give him simply for getting fucked into a cute moaning mess make his brain short circuit like nothing else, he could get addicted to it. i think he’s one of the most likely to go a lil dumb from it hehe…he leans a lot more into the guilty pleasure side of him that’s used to being pampered n doted on~

How to Write Character Dialogue
Like, in a realistic and engaging way.
Edit: PART 2
Preemptive warning that this extremely long-winded and messy post is designed to be a vague guide to help or prompt beginners with methods they could use in writing, to help people avoid common mistakes, and to hopefully aid in developing unique methods of constructing and presenting dialogue. It's also opinionated, and heavily influenced by my own writing style.
This post will be split up into two posts detailing a macro and a micro view - macro being dialogue in general, and micro focusing on how individual characters and stories will have certain considerations. Reblog and say in the tags if you want Pt 2 on the micro-view.
The 'Macro-View'
Don't start googling that term. I made it up.
The key to making dialogue sound realistic (and, in turn, making your characters appear more like people - making them easier to empathise with) is to think about how real people talk. Very obvious, right? You'd be surprised.

Ellipsis
And no, not the '...' kind. We'll get to that later.
Ellipsis is a term that refers to how words can be omitted from a sentence, yet it can still be understood. It's something we do all the time (though not often thinking about it). For example:
"Are you going home?"
"You going home?"
The latter is entirely understandable, but is not grammatically correct. However, most people do not speak in grammatically correct sentences, or even sentences. We speak in utterances and focus more on being understandable than eloquent. It's important to consider this when writing, as I've seen time and time again - even in published books - the writer focusing too much on making the dialogue grammatically correct. The characters sound dry, void of personality, and appear to be reading off of a script at every moment.
Ellipsis isn't going to be used in every sentence. You still have to think about which character will use it and when.

The Other Ellipsis
Gonna break every fanfic writer's heart in one statement: using ellipsis to convey pause is grammatically incorrect.
But, good news! Language is made up and I think it works well for dialogue, so it gets to stay.
Ellipsis (...) can be used to convey a pause - usually when a character is considering something, overthinking or too heartbroken to think straight. It can technically be used anywhere, but I'd advise against using it at the beginning of a sentence, like this:
He muttered, "...I can't believe it."
Because, honestly, it doesn't really convey much that you couldn't show through other methods. And, since a pause is silence, placing it at the start of a sentence conveys (in most cases) nothing, as of course there would be silence - the character hadn't started speaking yet.
However, when placed at the end of a sentence, like this:
He muttered, "I can't believe it…"
We report back to the primary purpose of an ellipsis - to convey something has been omitted. Here, the use of the points have created the impression that the character had more to say, but instead trailed off. This is something we do in speech all the time.

Dashes
To me, dashes are a near-essential part of constructing realistic dialogue; they can be used to present characters' spontaneity, the insertion of impromptu remarks, or a 'take it or leave it' comment that can be considered by the other characters or reader based on context (or what's remembered). For example:
"Well," he said, flipping idly through the pages, "we could go to the city and protest there—that might be too dangerous—or try to rally some support from the neighbouring villages."
That's the (largely) grammatically correct version, though. Since language is made up, punctuation is a lie and readers don't notice nor care, you can do whatever. There, I used the 'em dash' (as opposed to the 'en dash', which is '–', or the hyphen, which is '-'). This is what grammarians and dictionaries tell you to do, but you can totally change whatever you want to suit what you think looks best. Such as putting in an en dash or a hyphen instead, putting spaces between the words and the punctuation mark, or putting marks such as '?' or '!' within the subordinate clause (a relatively-new habit of mine).
As you can tell, I usually put a '-' in writing where I don't have to bother. Like here on this blog.
Overall, dashes are a great way of inserting side-comments and impromptu thoughts, making your characters seem much more natural and alive. Moreover, they can be used to give the effect of stuttering. And, as a bonus, they can also be used to show interruption or a stopped thought. For example:
"But you didn't tell me about—"
"I didn't have to tell you anything."
Personally, I use en dashes for interruptions and em dashes for self-obstructed speech (where the character stops themselves) to indicate the following silence. Punctuation can be used creatively to show whatever effect you want. Experiment and find your style!

Contractions
This is a short one, since I'll touch on it in part 2, but contractions such as 'don't' and 'I'm' do not necessarily indicate a character, for lack of a better term, isn't posh. I see people try to write characters that are intended to be posh or highly educated all the time and decide the best way to show that through their speech is to omit contractions. In fact, it just makes them sound a bit like a robot. People can still use contractions in speech if they're highly educated, especially in a context where their education or status is not relevant. There are better methods to show a character's personality or upbringing through dialogue, but we'll touch on that later.

Dialogue Placement
I'm too lazy to think of, or look for, a better term. It's where you put the dialogue, and how much of it you have. Simple as.
Let's be blumt. Don't do this:
He said, "blah blah blah."
She replied, "blah blah blah."
He responded, "blah blah–"
She screamed, "blah blah blah!"
Riveting dialogue, am I right?
Instead, let's try jazz things up. Ensure that your speakers are clear to the reader, that the tone can be understood through either your punctuation, descriptions or dialogue, and you'll be absolutely fine.
Elliot was heartbroken. Taking Elena's hand, he told her, "I can be better, I promise."
"Seriously?" She snapped her hand out from his grip. "If you could be better, then why weren't you better before? Before all this, I– now I don't know what to think."
"But you don't have to think! I'm telling you, Elena, the life we can have–"
"I don't want to hear it!" She screamed, "We're over!"
Even if you replaced that with blahs, it'd probably be a bit more engaging. The content of your dialogue isn't the only thing that matters, it's how it's placed. Here, the placing is diversified; the dialogue is sometimes embedded within the sentence, more so than before, making the words seem a lot more related to the context; a better view of the situation is shown, and we aren't bothering the reader with a constant 'she said, he said' situation. Though, it should be noted that 'said' is your friend, not an enemy.
Also, you know how sometimes in TV you get characters go 'all right!', 'so cool!', 'let's go!, etc, and wonder how much they paid the voice actors to say the same generic one-liner ten times an episode? That happens in writing, too. If it's something generic and unimportant to the plot or adds nothing to the situation, you can describe it instead or leave it out entirely.
Like how you can say 'he screamed in pain' instead of typing out "AUGSHAHSGEJAJAHHHHHHHAAAAAA!!!"

Also, a few other, quick things because I am tired:
Every rule of punctuation and grammar, as well as every piece of advice you'll ever be given, can be broken in certain situations. Always take advise and grammar rules into consideration, but recognise when it may be best to break them.
Avoid empty adverbs. These are situational.
E.g. 'She whispered quietly' is empty - the verb 'whispered' already insinuates the action was quiet. Adverbs should add to a description or circumvent expectations, an example being if she 'whispered angrily'. Adverbs are not always necessary.
Please don't overuse dashes and overdo stuttering. I'm looking at you, My Hero Academia Fanfiction writers. This line is directed at you.

Obligatory 'I'm not a professional, I just do things sometimes and have some education on this'.

Saw some people trying to explain this in the replies of another post and other people were coming in with well meaning misinformation, so I’m gonna make my own, hopefully clear, post on it:
If you are uploading a work on ao3, you use:
Character/Character for romantic and/or sexual relationships between the characters
And
Character&Character for relationships outside of romance and sex, so like friends, families, coworkers, etc
If two characters are in a sexual and/or romantic relationship of some kind, but you want to show that it’s not a main part of the fic, you still tag it with the “/“ and then under “categories” you click “gen”, that means a fic is more “general” and isn’t about a relationship
Or you can avoid tagging a couple and just add in the tags “fic includes [pairing] but just in the background” or something else along those lines
If you put “&” and then it turns out the characters are together, even if it’s just mentioned, it’s gonna frustrate people who have that as a notp, and for people who maybe like that pairing, they’re gonna avoid it because they think it’s just a platonic relationship
If you put “/“ and the characters aren’t together, people who clicked on your fic for that pairing are gonna click right out, and people who have that as their notp aren’t gonna click it at all
You could technically tag a fic both ways, but honestly you shouldn’t, because many people will filter out one kind (if they only want platonic fics, they’ll filter out “/“ and vice versa) and many times readers will just get confused about what you’re trying to convey the story’s about and may avoid your work
If your work is more ambiguous on the type of relationship they’re in, then you put that in the tags, I know one common tag for m/m pairings is “pre-slash or gen” because you can read it either as this is before they get into a sexual and/or romantic relationship or they just have a platonic relationship

Can I get real with everyone for a second?
Putting this under a read more cause trigger warnings in the tags.
So, as most of you know I've been on haitus for a minute and I've sort of mostly left the fandom side of Star Wars for the time being. I do have the intention of returning someday, though I have some other things I'm working on that I need to do for a while for a different fandom and those are going to take quite a bit of time.
But also as some of you know, I've been struggling a bit outside of fandom/irl. Actually I've been struggling for a long time, I just hide it really well. (I was also in the deep throes of a manic episode this last year and didn't really realize how much I was struggling until relatively recently.) I haven't really opened up a lot with many people, I haven't even really told my therapist this cause how do you start a conversation like this with a therapist you've been seeing for four months?
I'm gonna get really honest with a bunch of strangers on the internet though because for some reason that's easier. It's a lot easier, actually.
I've been struggling really badly with passive suicidal ideation since about August. I don't really want to live, but I don't want to die either. I have a lot to live for and I know I do and the thought of dying terrifies me, but at the same time things are so hard right now I don't want to go on living. This isn't new. There have been times in the past where I've felt like this but I usually come out of it relatively quickly.
I'm not this time.
I had a plan a while ago. Said goodbye to everyone I wanted to, said passively goodbye to a few others and was ready but I didn't. Honestly I'm beginning to regret it now that things aren't getting better.
My anxiety is at an all time high, my depression is at an all time low and I don't have any hope left. I used it all up trying to get through the last few times this has happened and now I honestly don't see an end to it. I know a lot of people feel this way and this kind of feels like, oh surprise, random person on tumblr is struggling mentally. What's new.
I just wanted to let you know because in a way I feel like I owe everyone an explanation and I also made a pact with myself to start being more honest with others and being honest with complete strangers (mostly complete strangers) on the internet is the easiest first step.
I'm not really expecting anyone to really read this and honestly I don't blame you if you don't want to. I really don't want to be another statistic but honestly it's so hard to avoid. I keep trying to find things to make me hang on but it's getting so much harder as the days drag on. I care about very little because what point is there in caring when it's all for nothing?

Slime HRT - Introduction and initial appointment
So, I've been inspired by @/ayviedoesthings (idk etiquette around tagging people you don't know, so gonna avoid the notif for now) 's dragon hrt, alongside all the other ones (bat hrt, dog hrt, and fish hrt) to try my own.
Unfortunately, I'm not much of an artist, so I can't really do a comic like they all have, so I decided to do a written diary instead. This is the first time I've done writing like this, let along putting it out publicly, so constructive critisim is appreciated, but don't be a dick.
That being said, on with the show.

So, this is the first entry of this diary kind of thing; I've decided to keep this, both since I’ve seen other people doing the same, and because I didn’t do it the first time ‘round and kind of regret that.
Anyway, today I went to the clinic that people have been talking about, the one that I’d heard was handing out non-human/species versions of hrt. It had piqued my interest at first, but I hadn’t been certain, partially believing it might be a joke or a prank or something, but then more and more people began to talk about their own transitions, so I began to research it for myself, eventually working up the courage to seek out my own.
When I reached the clinic I was a typical mixture of nervous and excited, and was running what I needed to say through my head a thousand times, to make sure I got it right, while I waited for them to call me.
My nervousness partially stemmed from the unusual nature of what I was going to ask for. I’d seen people posting about fish hrt, dog hrt, bat hrt, and even dragon hrt, but what I was going to be asking for was even more outlandish.
When one of the staff came to get me, they led me to a room with the name ‘Dr Hans Erian’ on it, and told me to go inside.
My first thought, as soon as I saw the doctor, was that he looked like an evil mad scientist who had turned good - and honestly, given the magic he was working, he might well have been, assuming it wasn’t actually magic. We greeted one another, and he invited me to sit down across from him at the desk he was behind and we began to talk.
Naturally, he asked me what kind of non-human hrt I wanted, exasperatedly listing off a few standard options, a few of which I'd heard of before. Once he had finished, I told him that I wanted to get ‘shapeshifter hrt’.
See, while I had been looking online, I had come across so many cool, different kinds of animals and creatures people were turning into that I couldn’t pick just one, so I was hoping that I’d be able to get a hrt that let me any I wanted.
The doctor’s response wasn’t positive, as he swiftly told me that I would not be able to take the medication. My heart dropped when he said that, and I had to fight back my emotions from showing; I had seen so many amazing stories online, and I had been so hopeful despite what I knew was an extreme ask, but it still hurt to hear it was impossible.
I should, however, have waited for the doctor to finish his sentence (although in my defence, he paused at a very bad time) as he went on to say that ‘shapeshifter’, or ‘polymorph’ as it was properly called, hrt was more like an additional medication taken with a non-human treatment after a period, akin to progesterone in feminising hrt.
This renewed my excitement, it was possible, I’d just need to become something else first, then I could become a polymorph from there. Also, I really like the term ‘polymorph’; it felt right.
He went on to explain that the polymorph treatment needed a base species, one already predisposed to shapeshifting, so that the polymorph treatment would take. The doctor laid out some options, explaining that they were the best options to work as a base if I wanted the shapeshifting treatment later. There were many cool and interesting options, but the two that stood out most were dragon and slime.
Now I’d seen an example of dragon hrt, and while there were definitely many features I liked from it, the end result wasn’t quite up my street. Slime HRT meanwhile was something I hadn’t really seen before, and the idea of being goopy and fluid sounded very appealing, and seemed like a very malleable base for shapeshifting later on, so I decided on that.
He then pulled out another list, detailing the variety of slime hrt’s that existed, and again, I went through the list and selected the one that most appealed to me - a slime made of sap, liking the idea of being somewhat plant-y, and I even asked if that would mean I’d be able to photosynthesize, the returned ‘yes’ making me even more certain in my decision.
The doctor then pulled out some forms, explaining that while originally there was a requirement for you to live socially as your preferred species for 48 months, but due to demand, and many people pointing out the impossibility for some people to do so, (and I swear I heard him mutter something about too many people kicking his door open), that the clinic had moved to an informed consent model. He slid the forms over and I quickly, but thoroughly read through them, before signing off and sliding them back to him.
While I was reading the forms, I noted some of the ‘side effects’ with a small chuckle to myself - ‘Dissolution of bones’ and ‘Loss of skin and organs’ would have sounded a lot worse on any other kind of medication, but given what this was going to turn me into, those were to be expected, and frankly wanted.
I also noted that the hormones I would be receiving would be administered in gel form, which made sense given I was basically going to become like gel, however, it did prompt me to enquire about how this hrt would mesh with the normal, gender, hrt I was already taking, especially given I was taking that as a gel as well. Fortunately, the doctor explained that I could keep taking both together safely for the first few months, but once the treatment had converted half of my body I could stop, given that at that point my physiology would be changing too much for the human hormones to continue to have much of an effect.
After I had signed the forms, it didn’t take long for the doctor to write up the prescription, and to send me off to get the medicine I’d need. As I’m writing this I’ve just taken my first dose, and looking forward to updating when there is next some developments!

Regarding the incredible royal AU (THAT I LOVE SO MUCH ALREADY🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡) If that’s okay I would love to hear more about andreil and what happens next? Maybe about them becoming official (like official official- being recognised as a prince and his betrothed/ husband(?)) (I guess it depends if in your AU people officially recognise gay relationships (hopefully they do? :D) and just the overall reactions to that event or maybe like the scene of one of them proposing to the other (I don’t really know about engagements in history, do you need to properly court somebody? Or do you just give them a ring and ask?)

As for andreil becoming official - I think yes. When I do royal aus I wouldn’t necessarily call the universe/world “queer normative” because the higher in station you go, the more true “straight until proven otherwise” holds - no one frowns on gay relationships and the setting is perfectly accepting, they just kind of… expect their rulers to be straight for bloodline convenience and all that 🤷 and it’s not like Andrew is trying to be subtle either, he keeps his relationships and ‘affairs’ to himself well but once he actually takes a liking to Abram he’s not really trying to hide it (case in point: here). He just lets the rumors about his sexuality spread and hopes he won’t have to make a big deal about coming out.
The really really fun part about universes like this is that we can kind of make up the traditions to be whatever we want! I love love love the idea of courting, I think it’s got great possibilities (and I’m so certain Aaron courting Katelyn was like the floweriest, cutest thing ever omg) so I’d love to make Andrew actually commit to courting Abram 😂 But like in canon where Andrew and Neil (and this is only a widely accepted head canon) don’t make a big deal about a proposal and wedding, probably having a tiny wedding or just going to the courthouse - Prince Andrew doesn’t make it a grand, super special thing like King Aaron and Katelyn wanted to. He picks the parts he likes and makes sure he meets all the basic expected requirements (because I want SO BADLY for Andrew to secretly be a sap, he likes the romantic stuff he just doesn’t like making it public) and then when Abram wants to, they get married and Abram becomes whatever title is next in line after prince. The people as a general rule love this, people like parties and they like celebration and a wedding is both of those and the prince seems happy so that’s as good as it’s gonna get. No one’s going to be able to say Abram doesn’t make them a tiny bit wary because let’s be real. Abram’s nature before you get to know him can be off putting. But that’s the only real thing anyone would have against their marriage.
ANYWAY. god there’s so many ways it could go, so many little things and fun possibilities to consider when you think about an Abram/Andrew courtship and SINCE WE GET TO MAKE UP THE RULES?? If you guys start putting courtship ideas in the tags and replies I might melt omg 😭🥰 sappy Andrew, Abram picking up on it when he realizes how much Andrew likes it (the only thing he’s actually sappy about is making Andrew blush and making him feel special in ways that aren’t just because of his station), parts they put on for show and the little cute things they do for each other when no one else is there… AUGH

if you send me an ask and I answer it privately, the message appears in your inbox and you do get a notification
if you send me an ask and I answer it publicly, you don't get notified, you can only see it by going directly to my blog
I can't send asks, period, though I'm honestly not sure if that was already a side blog thing before or if that is because of the shadowban
if I try to DM you over chat, I get an error message, you get nothing
I don't even have a chat box as far as anyone looking at my blog is concerned

This Sucks
I can only suspect that the reason my blog was shadowbanned was because almost every post on it includes an external link to AO3 and/or FFN (BECAUSE IT'S A FANFICTION SIDE BLOG), so staff just thinks I'm a bot, I guess. I tried contacting support about it last night, but my Internet connection was abysmal, so I'll have to try again later.
In the meantime, have any other writers on Tumblr encountered this problem? And do you know how to avoid having this happen again when 99.9% of your posts include external links?
EDIT: No longer shadowbanned!! Yay!! But I'm leaving this post up in case anyone needs it so they can tell if they've been shadowbanned or not (and because the link to the Reddit thread that got me in touch with the staff member who fixed it is in the replies).
Also, the not being able to send asks IS a side blog thing and not a shadowban thing.

How do you block and filter fics with rampant racist micro aggression since that's never tagged properly and the writer will have a white meltdown if they're ever confronted with the fact their fic is racist?
I honestly can’t tell if this was in earnest or if it’s meant to be another Gotcha! Attempt from one of the anti-censorship posts I’ve annoyed people with, so I’m going to assume it’s the first and do my best to answer.
As a white woman, I am definitely not someone who should be speaking on racism, since the systemic issues I deal with are very very different.
Unfortunately, though, your experience with such a fic is going to mirror what I’d imagine is also your experience with most other forms of media which don’t flag that kind of behavior: bail. Back out. Don’t finish the thing that is upsetting you. Possibly, (as I’ve done with authors on issues that hit home for me) take note of who’s behind the thing so you know to avoid them in the future, as they’ve broken that trust.
This is also known as curating your space. I don’t remember if I go on that rant in the other two (three?) posts that seem to have picked up, but that’s the READER’s side of the equation. Find your garden and tend it well, keep it how you like it, because it is for you and you alone.
My job as a writer is to tag to the best of my ability so you know exactly what you’re bringing into your garden. I don’t want to spoil your flowers anymore than I want someone to trample on mine.
Hopefully, as people talk about this more, authors will be more open to tagging/ modifying and/or adding a footnote for things exactly like this.
Micro aggressions are especially difficult, since (again, pulling purely from my lived experiences) getting folk to agree on what ‘counts’ is rough. But as an author— I want to share my stories. That’s the point! If I’ve written it, then I damn well better be self-aware enough to tag it, and be willing to ADD TAGS so I’m not breaking trust with the people I’m trying to give nice things to. Hopefully that makes sense?
I’m gonna say that again since I feel it needs it: if you’re comfortable enough to write the Real World problem happening, you’re fully capable of being able to recognize why someone might like the warning. Be kind. Tags only work if you use them.
On AO3, I believe they recently made it possible to block an author entirely, so they no longer show up in the results for your searches.
I’ve run across exactly one author I’d have blocked if it was possible at the time, because he refused to add tags to a story that… really needed tags. And, going through the comments in later chapters, dozens of people have asked him to update tags. He claims that doing so will ‘ruin the story’ despite the graphic raped-to-death-then-magically-revived bit having literally nothing to do with the plot at all. Instead, it comes out of literally nowhere in an otherwise really well written tale, and was deeply deeply upsetting to the point that his response to my first chapter squee was “yeah, tell me if you still like it after chapter X”. (Unfortunately i am a very fast reader and had already gotten that far and bailed immediately. Dude if you KNOW it’s THAT upsetting to so many people ADD THE TAG.)
I’ll never read anything he’s written again, just like I refuse to read anything by JKR ( awful human) or Terry Goodkind (I can’t stand how he handles his female characters. At all.)
Obviously these two examples are not identical, but it’s the main comparison I have on hand.
This isn’t meant to sound like I’m belittling or downplaying that concern at all. But until people get better at tagging—and I really wish traditional books and other media would ALSO tag, because I’m very very tired of running into Specific Things without any fucking warning— you have to protect yourself and your happy place by putting up a fence, and booting unsavory things right back over it.
—side note: for those worried about spoiling the plot you can…skip the tags... just know you’re choosing to walk in blind. OR! And I wish i could figure it out—you can add! A hyperlink! That takes you to the footnote at the BOTTOM to add things that deserve a warning but might be spoilers! There’s even a tag for that! ‘More tags in notes!’ These are good and useful things! Use them so your readers can better curate their spaces!—
The system isn’t perfect by any means. There are a million ways to improve, and we’re trying! But please, please y’all use the damn tags because right now it’s the only system we’ve got. Take care of each other.

Bond to Happen Part 4
Part 4: A Girl's Night Out
Warnings: some discussion of violence, very light suggestive material, alcohol
Word Count: 1600ish
(I know it's a bit short, but a certain key character will make their first appearance so hopefully it's worth it)
“Matt pulls dumb shit all the time, but ‘testing’ you to see how far you’d go was not fucking okay,” Karen says angrily.
“It could’ve been worse,” you shrug.
“How could it have been worse, hun?” She shouts incredulously.
“He could’ve lured me into a trap and left me to deal with it myself, he could’ve straight out attacked me, outed me to a bounty hunter, drugged me, let me get shot or stabbed-”
“Jesus, that’s where your mind goes?” She looks shocked and you nod.
“People do terrible things to my kind, I don’t blame him for being curious,” you say honestly. You were surprised it hadn’t happened sooner.
“Matt shouldn’t have done that, babe,” Karen says softly. “You deserve better, you should expect better, especially from your friends.”
You tilt your head at her in thought. You hadn’t expected her to be this upset for you, when you told her.
Deciding to change the subject, you say, “Well, now that you’re all caught up on the Matt and Frank drama, can we leave?”
“Yeah, as soon as you get ready,” she nods.
“I am ready,” you insist, looking down at your clothes.
“You wear jeans and a t-shirt when you go out?” Karen asks in disbelief. “How do clubs even let you in?”
“I’m almost always wearing the ‘don’t look too close’ spell. They don’t notice what I’m wearing,” you say defensively.
“Sweetie, I love you, but we are dressing up before I take you out,” she insists, turning to her own closet.
You groan. “You aren’t taking me out, you’re tagging along because of the new Buddy System rule. I don’t need to look good or even be visible, to feed, Kare.”
“But if you look ‘good’ and let people see you and focus on you, won’t that increase your energy intake?”
“Screw you for being so smart, Karebear. Where did you even learn about that?” She was right. If people focused on you, their energy would push towards you and make this shit version of feeding more efficient. You just hated dealing with the attention by yourself, sometimes people didn’t take no for an answer and you’d learned that the hard way.
“I’ve been studying soul and body energy theory,” she shrugs as she continues to dig through her closet.
“Really? Why?” You ask incredulously.
“For you, silly,” she tosses the words over her shoulder.
You swallow a knot of emotion trying to make its way up your throat. Karen had looked into something complex and confusing, put in effort without you asking, and used it to try to help you instead of using it against you.
“Here, this should work. We aren’t exactly the same size, but this is adjustable so it should balance out.” She hands you a red wrap dress. It’s a little bright for your skin tone and conservative for a club with a skirt that almost brushes your knees, a high back, and long sleeves. But that was intentional, you wanted to avoid any accidental skin contact in such a crowded place.
You shuffle to the bathroom to try on the dress. Kare was right, it didn’t fit you the same way it did her, but you were surprised that you actually felt pretty wearing it. As conservative as it was everywhere else, the neckline made up for it, plunging a couple inches below your breasts. You step out of the bathroom to a very excited Karen.
“You look hot, babe! I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen you in a real dress. I’m so proud of you for branching out!” She claps.
“I wear skirts and some dresses,” you grumble, ducking your head to hide your blush.
“Yeah, yeah, but those are your casual comfy clothes. They don’t count. Seriously, where have you been hiding those,” she asks teasingly, glancing at the cleavage fully on display.
You blush fully now. “They’re gonna fall out the second I move, Kare.”
“That’s what double sided tape is for, babes. Trust me, I’ve got experience with this dress.”
You let her apply the tape to the dress and your skin. She’s careful to minimize contact, knowing that you are anxious and sensitive right now.
“It’s a good thing your boots match, we’ll have to go shopping before next time. Our shoe sizes are too different for you to wear my shoes.” She looks a little disappointed at that fact.
“I think your shoes would actually kill me if I wore them,” you laugh, looking at the tall heels lining her closet.
“Hah, you’re tougher than that,” she snorts.
You’re happy with your boots, though. They were black and sturdy, with a small chunky heel and laces you’d woven protective charms into. Over your skin toned tights, they were comfortable. You carefully did a little make up, mostly a dark shade of lipstick and mascara, before tucking yourself into the cab next to Karen. The ride to the club was too short as you grounded yourself for the evening.
“I’m here, sweetie. If you need anything or you want to go at any point, say the word and we’ll go back to my place and do some self care with wine and those cookies Mrs. Brown brought yesterday,” she says soothingly, reaching slowly and with purpose towards your hand. You nod and she gently squeezes your hand reassuringly.
“I can do this,” you say, just as much to yourself as to Karen. “It’s okay to be seen, I’m safe.” You carefully relax your hold on your magic, letting it spread like mist and settle as it pleases, your walls are down and the energy of others hits you like a wave of dry summer heat. Intense, a little suffocating, but you’ll adjust. Taking one more deep breath, you removed the spell that kept eyes from focusing on you. “Let’s get a drink,” you say clearly.
“I’m proud of you, babe,” she whispers into your ear. You give a little smile and order something sweet and fruity, light on alcohol to keep your mind clear. You already felt invigorated, like a cup of coffee beginning to hit your bloodstream. More awake, more focused.
After a few minutes of chatting over the music and nursing your drinks, you toss your’s back and suggest with a toothy grin,”Let’s go dance.”

Across the room, your magic was taking note of something you would not be consciously aware of until several months later.
Billy Russo didn’t frequent these places as often as he used to. They were loud and crowded and although he maintained a youthful appearance, he was getting too old to enjoy this sort of thing as frequently. But tonight, he was glad that he decided to go out. Across the room, at the bar was a woman who’s energy was magnetic with a soft glow to it.
She wasn’t necessarily his usual type, not that he would restrict himself to just one type of woman, or person in general. Even so, there was something about her. Maybe it was the way she grinned at her friend. Maybe it was the scuffed black boots laced with multicolored beads and charms, out of place among the stilettos and pumps of those around her. Maybe it was the way her eyes flickered blue or her hair that moved as if she had her own personal breeze around her. Maybe it was the way the sea of people dancing parted for her as she dragged her friend into the mix. Maybe it was all of those things and the fact that he could smell her and only her. Lavender. Something earthy, like the beginning of a desert rain storm. And the sweetness of her drink on her breath. All of those things, wrapped in a tight red dress that had now disappeared into the crowd.
Billy didn’t know what the woman was, but she wasn’t human, that was certain. He sipped his drink and closed his eyes for a moment, focusing on the energies of the people around him. Billy was surprised to find the gentle fog of blue magic wrapping around him as if it was trying to draw out his own, something he kept under a tight control. The only energy others would see was what he carefully crafted for them. The soft blue energy seemed to be testing the boundaries of his own, brushing up against him in search of the real thing. Choosing to ignore it was the wise decision. Pulling away would only suggest he had something to hide, a fact he’d learned years ago. So he let the curious energy drift around him before it settled comfortably in a loose circle around his spot on the semi-circular booth.

Unaware of your magic’s bold and autonomous behavior, you dance with Karen. Sometimes goofily, other times practically grinding on each other as you feed off the room. You feel different, safe in a way you didn’t usually when feeding. You attribute it to Karen’s presence and thank her for accompanying you as you collapse on her couch when the night is over.
“I’m glad we did that, I’m exhausted, but it was super fun. It’s been a while since i had a proper girls’ night,” Karen agrees, flopping down next to you as she kicks her heels off. “How do you feel?”
“Better, like I had a cup of coffee and took a nap. I don’t feel as exposed right now.”
She hums in acknowledgement. “Good, we’ll do this again before the end of the month.”
“Sounds good,” you say, not bothering to argue that you usually wait longer in between outings. It was nice to have people who cared about you.

Billy Russo had watched as you left the club, making a careful mental note of your appearance, scent, and the feel of your power. Instinct told him that you might be something special. Something he should find and hold onto. Hopefully something he could use to deal with Rawlins.

the battle at trost, most definitely. like you’re being super jittery , and then you and eren have a cute moment where he’s teaching you how to use your gear—bc nobody’s died yet and he’s in high-ish spirits—and like you’re competent ; you wouldn’t have passed the training if you weren’t , you were just nervous so he’s being “supportive”
like this dude would probably push you off the building so you would be forced into fighting—and then you discover that you’re actually pretty good at it
“eren!” he’s the first one you call to as you stand, still zipping above you, “my first kill!” you nod in the direction of the subjugated titan on the ground below.
“you’re doing it!” he lands beside you, “but stay frosty,” his smile fades, “we’re not done yet!”
“never will be!” you quip, your expression matching his, ( his heart squeezed when you looked at him like that ; dumbass probably wrote it off as ‘nerves’ ) and you ditch your dulled blades.
you turn to him, “let’s go!”
so yes , you guys were fighting titans together , looking like a real power couple
you try your best to keep everyone alive, but once things become unpredictable, you start to lose it and you can’t get it together
eventually—and honestly, at no complete fault of your own, the “randoms” ( i am so not sorry ) eventually end up dying, as they did in the episode
“we’re gonna fall back.” you sigh
“what?”
armin blinked, “but the higher ups said—“
“—what would they say if they knew there were three of us left?”
“there’s an outpost toward the. . .” you picture a compass in your mind, “. . .west.”
“there, we can refill our tanks” you turn your back to the two
“if we meet up with another group. . .maybe we can tag-along with whoever is there but if it were up to me, we’d be retreating” you don’t wait for a response before heading off in that direction, knew they would be following
( eren hates when people on his level boss him around, but as someone who writes my readers to be anxiety prone , he’d probably see you as passive—so seeing you like this was kind of. . .attractive? )
you hear armin and eren behind you, and you turn to ensure that it was in fact them.
by the time you turned back, an abnormal had come out of absolutely nowhere.
you shoot your anchors down, and slam into the roof, narrowly avoiding getting swallowed whole.
unfortunately, you end up tumbling down the side and into an alleyway.
“[y/n]!” armin called after you, giving chase and leaving eren behind.
he grit his teeth, “dammit!”
eren. . .well he goes berserk. and that’s when he gets his dumbass eaten
when he comes back as the attack titan—like you know it’s him , but his eyes were a dead giveaway. he was driven by instinct and you can see that.
then when you’re talking on the roof after pyxis bails you guys out , and eren isn’t the most verbal person , so he’ll probably just pat your head or something when he notices that you’re anxious
it worked , by the way.
SEASON TWO
there’s so many here oml ; okay so when he took back the wall and you were the first face he saw when he tore himself from the nape
“you did it, eren!” you look down at him with warm eyes, the dying light illuminating your skin.
on the brink of unconsciousness, he looked up at you, blinking slowly; his lips parted as he tried to say something.
his eyes trailed down to your lips, “you must be tired right?”
“rest. . .i’ll be here when you wake up”
ngl he was probably whipped atp, because how can he not be—when you looked like a literally goddess in that moment—like you know you were glowing because that golden hour lighting is ✨divine ✨on brown skin
and then when eren gets “arrested” and put on trial , he did actually shut up when he saw your face in the jury/audience
then the female titan appears; you probably weren’t with him , but did most likely follow mikasa to retrieve him with her and levi.
at which point , eren wakes up to find you and mikasa , but what made him smile was seeing that you had taking off your cloak for mikasa to use as blanket , and let her lay down on your lap while you took the uncomfortable seated position
“[y/n]?” he called to you; he almost thought you were awake from your seated position
when you didn’t respond, he noticed your closed eyes and the gentle rise and fall of your body.
jade eyes scanned your form, gentle fingers resting in the sea of ink that is mikasa’s hair
lips slightly parted, your hair was freshly washed and braided; evidence of your boredom while waiting for him to wake up—your face stained with tears from the devastating loss you suffered and yet,
you were so beautiful.
dumbass is still like “yeah she’s just one of the people i grew up with , that’s it—yep, stops there”
this happened earlier in the season/the end of season 1 but i forgot to put it until now , so the graduation ceremony and the “initiation” into the scouts
it’s a triumphant moment , but most of 104th regiment are terrified out of their mind
and so are you. . .
“you should’ve went to the garrison regiment if you were going to cry” he raised a brow at you
knowing that pretty much everyone in the show shits on the garrison, you took personal offense to that.
you snapped your head in his direction, body still stuck in the ‘salute’ position, “i’m not crying”
“i’m staying because want to be with you guys”
he blamed the humid night and hot uniform for the red in his face.
so when y’all went up into the mountains , and while you’re trying to enjoy everything , but you know reiner , bertholdt , and ymir’s betrayal is imminent.
unfortunately , you’d actually grown to care about those three—and you see them in a sympathetic light after knowing all of what they’ve been through—but you felt like shit.
you knew there was nothing you could do—not even mikasa could stop the two from kidnapping eren.
you snuck away to be alone with your thoughts, sitting down on an old dead tree. you sighed; you looked tired, resting your face in your hands
“[y/n].” he called to you, and you didn’t turn back—you knew it was him. he sat down next to you, and you guys were silent for like ten minutes
again , eren isn’t the most verbally affectionate person , so he’ll just kinda coax you into laying against his shoulder until he finally works up the nerve to ask you what was wrong
“[y/n], what—“
but he got interrupted when mikasa and armin finally found the two of you
inevitably , eren got kidnapped , but you and mikasa were on timing—and thanks to your knowledge of the episode , you lead the brigade to their exact location.
you also kept mikasa from getting her ribs crushed , which set off a chain reaction of things that didn’t happen
eren still discovered that he held the coordinate , though ; also thanks to you
“wait!” you stop mikasa from going for the kill, “eren has to be the one do it!” you gestured toward him
the way you looked at him , like you understood just how much it was true : it did have to be him
he was alone—rendered useless—feeling useless , and then you were there , looking at him with pure trust as you untied him from his bonds
“you can do it, eren” your eyes told him,
you single-handedly gave him the will to live in that moment and finally he started to realize how he felt.
now this is where reader and eren switch places in terms of being oblivious ; like you see how he acts around you but are in denial because you’re like “he likes mikasa—sure the confession scene didn’t happen , but that’s because mikasa wasn’t about to die—their feelings for each are the same as they were in the show”

SEASON THREE
there’s not really too much here , considering not a lot of the season until the end focuses on eren.
you two return from eren’s basement, an uncomfortable and painful distance wedged between you by the weight of eren’s presence—the youthful and determined glow to his eyes had faded due to the revelations he faced.
but while he was brewing on everything during the beach trip, his feelings for you became crystal clear , shining brightly in front of all his other thoughts.
SEASON FOUR
season four eren is not here to bullshit , so he’d have realized that he is in love with you by the time the scouts make it across the sea
he’s in the middle of pretending to listen to the others complain about sea sickness when he sees you, leaning against the railing silently watching the sea
you’d been through hell and back and had the weight of the world on your shoulders at this point so you were brewing on things just as much as eren was.
“hey.” he greeted dryly as he joined you, “hey.” you said, just as dry.
“what are you doing alone?”
“just reminiscing—“ your expression was blank but your mind was racing
back when you were a kid—when attack on titan was just a show, getting here seemed so simple—but now you’ve seen the toll war takes on someone.
you were just sixteen—you all were, it wasn’t fair—you’ve sacrificed so many of your friends—so many relationships for this.
if anyone deserved to be here, it’s not you.
“it’s not your fault.”
you blinked, turning to look at him—for a moment he looked like his old self as he stared at the horizon
“all the ones we’ve lost. . .those that have betrayed us. . .”
“. . .that’s not your burden to bear.”
you leaned against eren’s shoulder, crying quietly beside him
yes that moment right there is what gave him hope—well that and his knowledge of this timeline , along with others.
he’ll get you alone and give you the opportunity to confess.

Gizmo? :0 you mean the Geek, or did they adopt another kid when I wasn’t looking lmao
Assuming we’re talking about Geek, god, I feel like she’d be so exasperated over the whole thing xD maybe the world gets Blissified while she’s busy hanging out in her lab and she’s protected from it bc the place is lead-lined or what have you, and she steps out for lunch only to find that the entire planet got brainwashed while she was busy. And immediately she’s like “how much you wanna bet my dads are wrapped up in these shenanigans” so she goes to find out and discovers all the vices and virtues running around willy nilly lmao. This is just kind of a Tuesday for them so it’s not like it would shock her too much but it is a real hassle to start tracking them all down and rounding them up, even with the help of the like, two that actually want to be put back together. Actually I take that back I think Temperance is trying to help her bc he wants to be whole, but the only other one tagging along is bliss Max and he’s really just vibing with no thoughts in his head lmaooooo. She finally puts them back together and fusses at them like “some of the parts of you tried to eat me and shoot me and stuff, you two idiots owe me for bailing you out >:(“ maybe after the whole caper’s over they take her to go get ice cream as an apology hjdhsjshjshs
But man, it sure is interesting to think of how those interactions would look :0 I mean all the vices get to be kind of violent and rude to Sam because he and Max already mess with each other 24/7 but they’re always polite to the Geek bc she baby (not really ofc but like that’s their kid they love her!), so I’m really not sure how some of the crazier ones would treat her. Honestly Wrath and Gluttony might just stay the same and it’s up to Geek to play it safe and keep her distance from them, with help from Temperance of course. And I’m really not sure how sin Sam would treat her…I guess he’d mostly be doing his own thing in this scenario because bliss Max’s happy-go-luckiness is driving him crazy, so he’d probably just avoid them as much as possible. That said, if she did manage to catch up to him, I still don’t think he could be rude to her. A bit dismissive, maybe, but if she pressed him to cooperate with getting his virtues back he couldn’t be mean to her, he’d just complain like mad about it. He’s lucky Geek is so stern and practical. And also so goddamn smart.

Hey I was just wondering, so you have any tips for pacing when you’re writing your fics? I only ask because I’m having a bit of trouble with it at the moment, and you never seem to linger too long or gloss over things too quickly in yours. Anyway that’s all, hope you’re having a great day!
Yeah! I mean, I'm sure as hell no expert on pacing, god knows I struggle with it A LOT, but I feel like I've learned some things over the years that I can share, and then maybe it'll help somebody!
The advice I've seen a lot in variations is "always have everything planned". Every scene has to make sense. Every bit has to contribute. Every line needs to be important. Always have an ending in mind. Yadda yadda yadda. Well, I'm some type of neurodivergent and I really can't do that at all, I rarely have any more than a setup, a bit in the middle, and a vague idea of a fade-out 90s song ending - if not less.
The way I go around this is: if you don't know how to write a scene, don't write it.
Characters are at Point A, but I need them to travel to Point B. The scene of them traveling is a goddamn pain in the ass. How do I write it? I don't. I say "At Point B, they-" and continue the story.
Another good trick is to remember that you are writing in a non-linear space, meaning you can skip over things and then come back.
Sometimes when two things don't work one after the other, I swap them and see what happens. Sometimes I combine them - like, in the last chapter of Blank Slate, I was supposed to write Heavy meet Pyro, the Scout, but I thought Pyro and Scout at the same time would be more exciting. Dunno if it worked as intended, but I like it better.
Setup and payoff is also good. When you introduce something - that's setup. When that thing resolves - that's payoff. Thespace between them is like a circle, the setup and payoff are giving your text a li'l hug. For a good example of this see my fic Close Call, it's packed with these. For a simpler example see Speak Up, it's got like three or four circle, like a matreshka. I can do a detailed breakdown sometime but it feels kind of obnoxious, I'm a bit, uh, shy about my writing.
Another thing I love is using sentence length to communicate scene energy. Short sentences for action, long structures for instrospection. Long to short for sudden stops and accents, short to long for scene transitions and timeskips. Also, intersperse long dialogues with action blocks to create smaller sections with more contained dialogue topics that are easier to follow.
Cutting useless dialogue is always good. I like to say a line is no good if you can't tell who's saying it without a dialogue tag, but you can't always follow that rule. Still. Good to keep in your head.
Dialogue order, too! If Character A and Character B are talking, and A is saying a line in Paragraph 1, A's next line will be on Paragraph 3. If you have A's line on 1, B's line on 2, action on 3 - well, you can't put A's on 4, you need another action on 4 so A lands on 5. I hope this makes sense. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll go more in detail. I try to always follow this rule, at least within one scene, sometimes across scenes - it really helps cutting out unnecessary dialogue tags that clutter the text.
I think I do this thing where I overexplain everything. Honestly still not sure if the dialogue between Spy and Sniper near the end of Close Call was obvious to everybody or so obscured in round-about hints that nobody got it. But it's fine! Generally I think you want to have your audience figure some things out, I think. Not restate the same clever plot point many times beause you fear people won't get it. Just say it once and pray to god. It takes some major balls tho, if I'm being fully honest.
This is getting long so I'm gonna close with: write what you're excited to write! If you're not excited about writing a scene, don't think "How am I going to write this?", think "How am I going to avoid writing this?". Kill the first draft servant in your brain, it's only malicious non-compliance from here onward.

percy jackson is the one i consider my first ~proper~ fanfiction. earlier attempts were a final fantasy x retelling with pokémon but i only went through the first chapter and hated it, a guild wars fanfiction which was about my own characters which i abandoned after a few chapters, and fanfiction of a (likely) troll fanfiction. i consider them disqualified for various reasons. others may not.

honestly i’m not against giving spoilers, i’m more just worried about posting them and anyone who may have wanted to avoid them getting upset? it happened a few times back when i wrote reddie fics (the reason i stopped writing for the it fandom is because i would get a lot of messages and asks that were in general not nice and very demanding about what i write and how often i post and it just took all the fun out of it) so i’m just like… overly cautious probably lmao

okay, so here’s some transparency about the series: i don’t have the whole thing planned out.
i have a lot of ideas and i have certain things decided and vague ideas about the other parts, but past the last three chapters of the first fic, i don’t have like proper outlines or anything just yet. i didn’t even have a plan for the first fic when i posted the first like two or three chapters—i was coming up with it as i wrote it and it wasn’t until i was a couple chapters in that i started planning ahead because it was at that point that i realized how massive i wanted the fic to be and it was around that time that i started thinking about making it a series instead of a stand alone fic.
i’m still trying to decide who the antagonists of the second fic are gonna be (i know one, but i’m debating adding more and am ironing out subplots and such)
basically: i don’t know how the series is going to end yet. i’m planning on having the four main fics that will basically be the main story, and then having additional one shots/short fics that kind of fill in gaps and provide moments after college, as the four fics are supposed to encompass one of their school years. this might change, i might make it three fics or add a fifth one or something, but as of now that’s my plan.
while i don’t have the actual ending figured out, i can say with certainty that i want it to be a good ending. maybe not necessarily a super happy one, but it’s not going to end in tragedy. harley and peter are going to have a future together. the spidey squad is going to remain a found family and support system for each other. (also the spidey squad is going to consist of more than the core four we currently have, but i’m not going to spoil that part. it’ll start to be clear who else will be in it group as the series continues. matter of fact, the last chap of the first fic starts that process!)
the one shots that i plan to write based after the end of the main fics will have a lot of snapshots of moments as they all grow up — ups and downs, highs and lows, relationships taking next steps and having fights and making up and everything in between.
this answer is kind of long and rambly, sorry, let me try to summarize my answer in a few sentences:
while the ending of homeward bound has not been officially decided, it is not going to be a bad ending. it’s not going to end in sadness or tragedy. that being said, it might not be a super upbeat ending either, because life will always have its struggles, but the ending will be hopeful and happy in whatever way is most fitting of the series once it ends.
hopefully that answers your question well enough? idk i don’t wanna make it sound like it doesn’t have a happy ending at all, because i definitely want the best for these characters and their futures, but homeward bound has, at its core, been the embodiment of being a realist—not an optimist, not a pessimist, but a realist. the reason i started writing the first fic was because in the emotional turmoil following nwh, i wanted to try and take a realistic approach towards what peter’s story could be following the spell and may’s death and the loss of everything that his life used to be. and also wanted to explore how harry and gwen could be introduced and how harley could be brought into the loop. and of course as a parkner shipper how to make it into parkner as well lol.
life is hard. these characters have been through a lot (and will go through a lot more as the series progresses) but they are strong and they are full of love for each other and that will get them through it.

honestly! i genuinely don't mind if writers wanna intentionally write works for a thinner reader, it'd just be nice for them to write in a little warning at the beginning of the fic <3 i write chubby readers and mark 'em with chubby!reader so my audience knows, nothing wrong w doing it the other way around!
i also wanna say, i remember looking up "seventeen x chubby reader", "svt x chubby reader", or smth along those lines on tumblr but just knowing almost nothing will pop up 💔. until i saw a little fanfic called "tiger stripes" and was baffled that someone actually wrote something that had someone like me in mind. i remember feeling and being so happy about it. just thank you for your svt x chubby reader works because u make us chubby carats feel so seen 🫶🏼 - 🐱 anon
aaaa ty lovely!! im a chubby gal myself so i love writing chubby!reader fics from time to time when inspiration strikes <3 usually i try to keep everything body neutral so that anyone can enjoy my fics (even in my chubby reader fics, i try not to specify how big reader is so that anyone bigger can enjoy them), but sometimes i just gotta aim something for the chubby gals out there <3 tiger stripes is one of my most beloved fics and it genuinely makes me happy to think of my own stretch marks as tiger stripes hehe <3

oh yikes! i think like... its worth it to sometimes address fatphobia in writing, but that kind of stuff 100% needs a warning! one of my current fic ideas involves a reader who is confident in her body but kinda relapses back to a previous mindset of 'maybe i Should be ashamed of it' after being fully insulted for being a bigger gal and the fic would absolutely have a warning.
i do agree that you def do not have to be a bigger person to write chubby/fat reader fics, but its definitely something you need to be mindful of when you wanna handle the heavier topics. im always happy to weigh in with my own thoughts + experiences, and im sure other people would be, too! no shame in trying to address it in themes/plot, but there's def a difference between endorsing those ideas and discussing them (and i'll say i have no idea which was being done in this fic)

1. Heather Chandler: owns me atm. Have never once been a fan of just downright mean and nasty characters—never got why people really liked Catra or even Regina George—then this bitch strutted and sang her way into my life and I have not been the same since. She steals every scene. There are 2 beasts inside me, one that wants her to become a better person, and one who wants to keep her in character. Kicked me in the asshole to start writing fanfic again. I am in love with her ghost. May she haunt me (and Veronica) forever.
2. Gideon Nav: just barely wins out over my beloved hideous bone witch, because I don’t think I would’ve gotten into The Locked Tomb at ALL if we hadn’t started from Gideon’s POV. Butch. Goofy. My personal gym motivation. Smarter than she’s given credit for. Unexpectedly noble. I love her choice at the ending of the first book, and get hideously upset at folks who say it was a nice gesture and certainly meant a lot in relation to #griddlehark, but was ultimately pointless in the face of [x]’s setup and lies. I refuse to believe it doesn’t matter, or that every either/or is a false dichotomy that can be turned into a both/and, as is popular in recent narratives. No. Gideon’s choice mattered, and not just as thematic or romantic relevance. I fckn WILL BE VINDICATED in Alecto.
3. Edalyn Clawthorne: owl mama. Aspirational. Love her voice and her snaggletooth and her penchant for adopting weird kiddos. Great disability metaphor. The type of old surprisingly foxy hag I hope to become.
4. Kara Danvers: pretty sure the last time i answered one of these, I chose Lena Luthor, whom I still love! But I think Kara won out today because of her duality. I have always, always loved characters who use their sunny optimism to hide and avoid their trauma and pain, and Kara has that in SPADES. On a personal level, she inspired me to try getting back into working in news again, after a bad internship that included covering a school shooting that left me horrified. I think now that the show’s over, I really appreciate Benoist’s acting more and more, especially in the earlier seasons when everything felt so fresh and new and delightful. She is pretty, she is handsome, she is traumatized, she is hopeful, she is grieving, she is joy personified.
5. Glimmer: the real complex character of SPOP, and the majority of fandom didn’t even give her a chance. The greatest fusion of the Feminine Aesthetique and Pure Raw Badassery. She is both confident AND anxious, combative AND kind, reckless AND fearful, selfish AND selfless, the prettiest magical princess AND an absolutely brawler, and all of these traits play off each other seamlessly to continually raise the tension. I will literally never understand why the fandom shoved her to the side. Her season 4 arc is a juicy highlight of the show as she deals with grieving her mother, taking on the role of queen far too young, and her tension with her strongest soldier, her right hand, her friend, Adora. Plus her character re-design in s4 onwards? 😘👌. She is my Queen.
