luxiem in hogwarts

word count ! ~800 pairing ! no pairing! just me brainrotting over the luxiem boys in a hp setting :) possible pairing on a (maybe) future part tho w reader being in different houses genre ! fluff
Tumblr media
.。.:*☆ IKE EVELAND !
he's a slytherin !
he doesn't fit the bill of mean dark and brooding but he's just as sly and cunning as the rest of his house
particularly talented in transfiguration and charms, easily becoming a professor's favorite
his patronus is a swan! beautiful and territorial
gets assigned prefect in his fifth year but he went out of his way to write the headmaster requesting to relinquish the role because he doesn't want to deal with first years
doesn't play quidditch but always goes to the matches to support his friends—although he still shows up in emerald green
can often be found in the library reading or studying
somehow managed to get a permission slip to check out books from the restricted section???
he's not planning on becoming the next dark lord but he finds the subject matter incredibly interesting... for better or for worse
Tumblr media
.。.:*☆ LUCA KANESHIRO !
what else could he be but gryffindor ?
loveable and kind, his boisterous laughter is easily contagious and he never fails to draw smiles from those around him
he's an animagus! begged ike to help him after finding out his talents in transfiguration, although was devastated when he found out his animal was a golden retriever and not the lion he so desperately wanted
the amount of head pats he got that day more than made up for it though
naturally gifted in ancient runes and quidditch
plays chaser and got the honor of becoming quidditch captain in his fifth year
constantly pulling pranks and giggling behind corners alongside shu
the first to approach ike and adopts him into his friend group
or was it the other way around?
if luca never notices when ike slips away to deal with some rather distasteful individuals
well
what he doesn't know won't hurt him
Tumblr media
.。.:*☆ MYSTA RIAS !
what a lovely hufflepuff
very skilled duelist and a prodigy at defense against the dark arts, also weirdly good at divination???
became a running gag to ask him which first years would be assigned to which house to the point where his housemates will do bets on it every start of term
turns out his great great grandma was a seer, so there's that
the first to manage a fully corporal patronus which was a phoenix ("so cool!" luca whines)
became friends with the other boys after he got paired with vox in potions and got hard carried
he was a bit embarrassed but thankfully his partner was cool and reviewed everything with him so that he can do it himself later on
he's rather quiet for a hufflepuff but that doesn't make him any less kind
he's protective of this ragtag group of friends and won't let anything as petty as house rivalry to get in the way of that
Tumblr media
.。.:*☆ SHU YAMINO !
ravenclaw, obviously
although he hates studying
talented in arithmancy and charms (and one of the few to take advanced arithmancy too!)
his patronus is a dolphin!
likes to plan pranks with luca, often at vox's expense (shu ran away cackling as the two gryffindors duked it out on the second floor, luca leaving with puke green hair and vox's clothes dyed highlighter yellow)
can often be found chilling in empty classrooms with his friends while working on his own things
even though they're not making active conversation, he enjoys being in their presence anyways
when hanging out with the other boys he's happy to let them take the lead, offering support in the form of joyful laughter and deez nutz jokes
one time in third year he finally caved in to luca's begging and decided to try out for ravenclaw's quidditch team, except the day of the actual try outs was too cold so he ended up ditching it to go play gobstones with his brother in the castle's kitchen (hufflepuff privileges, apparently)
Tumblr media
.。.:*☆ VOX AKUMA !
gryffindor !!
very good at potions (even takes the newt level course!) and oddly enough, actually enjoys history of magic
the only one who manages to stay awake in that class, good for him.
his patronus is a snowy owl!! it's so pretty
helps tutor other students in his free time so it's pretty common to see him in the library or in the courtyard
gets SO many love letters and love potion spiked chocolates on valentine's day that at this point he just doesn't open any mail one month before and one month after the cursed holiday because nothing is safe
very protective of his friends !!!! do not anger him because he WILL come after you especially if it's less than sane admirers who think they can get vox through them
he and ike are a rather terrifying duo
speaking of ike
leader of ike's totally fake very much a joke he he ha ha funny not real fanclub
definitely not serious
no sir

June 22nd, 1973
She was delusional to think she had made progress with Sirius Black. After everything that had happened, everything that had come to the surface; after his birthday when he shared his scars, and when he confessed his parents cruelty amongst the seclusion of his bed curtains. At the end of the day, they were opposing forces, her pulling and him pushing away. No amount of spilled secrets or clandestine confidence would change that.
James was upset by how Sirius had acted under the quidditch pitch, apologizing to her on his behalf incessantly.
“You’re not the one that needs to apologize, Jamie,” she said in-between bites of toast at breakfast one morning. She’d been sitting at her house table ever since Sirius’ comment. She had been reminded of her place, and it wasn’t amongst them.
James raked an exasperated hand through his unruly hair, “He’s just…stubborn, and kind of an idiot, I’m sorry.”
Before she could add on more negative adjectives to describe Sirius Black, Professor McGonagall cleared her throat at the lectern at the front of the Great Hall.
“Good Morning students, your attention for just a moment please. As the end of term is fast approaching, could I have all rising Third through Fifth year students see me to receive their Elective Selection Form. Please return these to my office no later than June 28th. A reminder: think hard about your future career path, this will determine which classes to pursue.”
She rose quickly out of her seat as soon as McGonagall took her place on the dais, James following close behind and still trying to talk her down.
Engrossed in the paper chart in her hands, she returned back to her seat and began to read through the course offerings. After a few moments, she felt the familiar lingering presence of James Potter sitting back across the table. Doubling down on the effort to focus on her own selection form, she ignored him entirely.
Third-years were able to choose two new electives, the first of her choices being Care of Magical Creatures. She was re-reading the descriptions of Divination and Ancient Runes when the boy across the table pushed his chart towards her.
“What’d you pick?” The voice did not belong to James Potter.
She looked up, brows furrowed at the familiar yet unexpected voice of Remus, “How long have you been here?”
He shrugged, “Ten minutes, give or take.”
“Where’s James?”
“Went back to our table, mumbled something about Sirius being a prat. Any idea what that’s about?”
She couldn’t tell him the truth, she had made a promise to the rest of the boys to keep the animagus plan a secret. “I mean…he’s always being a prat, so it could be anything.”
Remus smirked, reaching over to grab her chart, “So what’d you choose?”
“Care of Magical Creatures, but I’m stuck on whether to choose Divination or Ancient Runes…”
“If it helps, I chose Runes as well…we could help each other study? Divination is a joke anyway.”
She laughed, “You don’t think it’s interesting?”
Remus scowled, “Predicting the future with tea leaves and cards? It’s absolute rubbish.”
Looking back down at his chart, she looked at his other choice, “…Arithmancy? That’s supposed to be really difficult.”
His eyes flicked to hers, flashing gold briefly in the morning light, “Luckily for me, I love a challenge.”
Looking past his head, she groaned, “Ugh, speaking of challenges…”
Snape was drawing closer with Regulus by his side. He was explaining something to the younger boy, Reggie listening intently and nodding along. As the two Slytherin’s passed, Severus spun around, face filled with unsettling amusement.
“Ah, look Regulus,” he drawled, “the muggle convention is having their monthly meeting!”
Reggie let out a dry laugh while she rolled her eyes.
“Very original, Severus. Truly, some of your best work…” she droned.
“What’s that? I couldn’t hear over the sound of Lupin’s incessant panting over you.”
She looked up at Remus’ face, blushing red and staring intently at the wooden table.
“At least they’re mating with their own kind,” Regulus snarked.
What the fuck was that supposed to mean?
“Don’t you have something else better to be doing, Reg?” She looked him in the eye, choosing to ignore the comment altogether.
Regulus’ face hardened, “What did I tell you before about speaking to me directly, mudblood.”
Remus was standing before Reg could take another breath.
“What the fuck did you call her?” His scarred hands were clenched so hard they were white. The Hufflepuff prefect heard the commotion, quickly walking over to stand between the boys.
“You two,” he pointed at Severus and Reg, “go to your house table. And you,” he motioned to Remus, “if you cannot behave in a civil manner, I’ll have to ask you to leave as well.”
Remus sat back down, fuming as Reggie and Snape walked to their table smirking.
She pressed the heels of her palms into her eyes as Remus turned his attention to her.
“What was he talking about?”
“Hmm?” She hummed.
“Regulus said ‘telling you before’. What happened before?”
The tone of his voice made her breathing quicken.
“He uh…we had a run in on the train…after winter break…”
“…He’s called you that before, hasn’t he.”
The protectiveness in Remus’ voice raised the hair on the back of her neck.
Snapes words echoed in her head: Lupin’s incessant panting over you.
She shook it off, all of it. Snapes comment, Remus’ tone, the increasingly overwhelming question of where to place the emerging feelings in her chest.
Nodding a confirmation, she watched Remus clench his jaw.
“Please don’t say anything, especially to Sirius,” she begged.
“You need to tell him, he needs to know what his brother is doing—“
“It won’t change anything, it’ll just hurt him. Please Remus, don’t say anything.”
He shook his head, gazing over towards the Slytherin table, “If he comes near you again, I’ll kill him.”
———
September 1st, 1973
Remus wrote her constantly. So much that her hand had started to cramp halfway through the summer from holding a pen almost every waking moment. She’d begun to try to respond with her non-dominant hand, teaching herself to write with both just in case. For each full moon that summer, she sent Remus drawings and the usual poem. Doodles of constellations and celestial bodies filled the pages, the stars watching over a sleeping wolf, a crown of wildflowers on his head.
She didn’t hear from Sirius all summer, something that didn’t come as a surprise after what he had told her in secrecy after Christmas, but it still hurt nonetheless knowing they hadn’t spoken since before school let out. The anger was still there, though it was now being clouded by worry. He could hate her all he wanted, call her every name in the book, but at the end of the day she would still lay in bed and hope that he was alright.
James and Peter invited her to Diagon Alley again, shopping for their third year supplies with the help of Mrs. Potter. From the window of every shop, she looked for Sirius.
Little progress had been made in the animagus plan, with James explaining their difficulty in finding dew that had not seen sunlight or been touched by human feet. She didn’t say anything, having already said her piece last year. They were going to do it regardless, but a part of her was little happy that they were finally getting a taste of how difficult the process actually was.
———
The walls of the train compartment were closing in on her. Remus sat beside the window, reading quietly while she tapped her foot nervously. James, talking to Peter about quidditch or something (she stopped listening ages ago), would dart his eyes over to her anxious body every few minutes like he was waiting for a bomb to explode.
Sirius wasn’t there yet. Flashbacks from last year ran through her mind on a loop. Walburga’s pinched expression; Regulus’ cold stare; Sirius’ scars. She wanted to cry, the sensation of which was beginning to choke her to the point of taking strangled breaths.
Remus reached across the compartment and took her hand, squeezing it reassuringly, “He’ll be here, I promise.”
You can’t promise that, she thought, but the words were stuck in her throat. She didn’t know what time it was, but from the way James was checking his watch, it had to be close to 11. Maybe Sirius’ parents had kept true to their word, maybe they really did send him away this time. How would they even know? She couldn’t ask Regulus, not after Remus’ threat from last year, (not that he would tell her anything anyway).
As the crowd on the platform began to thin, the compartment door flew open.
Sirius was grinning from ear to ear.
Like a dam breaking, air filled her lungs.
“Alright lads?” He smiled at them, never landing on her. She didn’t even care, the only thing that mattered was that he was okay.
The atmosphere in the compartment eased greatly, the boys falling into jovial conversation immediately as Sirius sat down next to James. She didn’t involve herself, just happy to sit amongst her friends.
“—I have to say mate,” James laughed, “You seem a lot more…relaxed than you usually do after spending time at home.”
This made Sirius smile even bigger, “I think I’ve turned a corner.”
“…with your family?” Peter chimed in skeptically.
Sirius nodded, “When I first got home, it was the same thing as usual,” he rolled his eyes, “but by the middle of July…it had all just…stopped.”
“They just ignored you?” James furrowed his brow.
“Not entirely. They spoke to me whenever necessary, but the rest of the time they just let me do whatever I wanted.”
Remus shot her a concerned look from across the compartment, “What brought this on? What did you do?”
Sirius crossed his arms smugly, leaning back against the seat, “I may or may not have…redecorated my room a little…”
The four of them stared at him.
“…I put up some Gryffindor quidditch banners with a permanent sticking charm…”
James’ expression was somewhere between shock, alarm, and pride.
“…as well as some…muggle posters,” Sirius’ smile was borderline unhinged, something that wasn’t lost on Remus.
“What kind of muggle posters, Sirius…” he asked slowly.
Sirius waggled his eyebrows, “Muggle women. They’re wearing rabbit ears, Mum had a fit when she couldn’t take them down.”
Remus’ eyes almost shot out of his head, “YOU PUT PLAYBOY CENTERFOLDS ON YOUR WALLS PERMANENTLY?!”
James and Peter were both staring between them confused while she sat in the corner trying to stifle a laugh. Sirius met her eyes for a split second, sparkling with mischief before he quickly looked away.
Remus sighed, running a hand through his hair, “You’re lucky they didn’t kill you.”
Sirius shrugged, pulling some money out of his pocket as the candy trolley stopped outside of their door. He bought them all sweets without asking, tossing boxes around the compartment happily. The last package he threw was to her.
Peppermint Toads, her favorite.
———
As the train pulled into Hogsmeade Station, the five of them stood and began to collect their various bags and items, quickly throwing on their robes in the process. Swinging a leather satchel strap over her shoulder, she gave the boys a small wave as she headed out into the corridor, “See you lot tomorrow or something, yeah?”
Sirius stared at her with mild confusion, following her outside the compartment “You’re not sitting with us for the feast?”
She turned around, mimicking his confused expression, “I—I didn’t think you wanted me to?”
Sirius scoffed, “What?”
“Sirius, we haven’t spoken in months…”
He raked a hand through his hair, which had grown even longer over the summer (an obvious choice to piss off his parents, no doubt).
“I know, I was a complete arse to you, it was unfair of me. I just…talk before actually thinking through things…”His face softened as his eyes fell sheepishly to the floor.
“You can’t keep taking your emotions out on other people, Sirius,” she whispered, and his blue eyes snapped up.
“…I know…” his voice was soft, but an edge of annoyance was begging to break through, “Please, sit with us, it’s not the same without you.”
Any leftover anger she had for him melted away. Sirius seemed to have a way of softening her that none of the others did, not even Remus, and she couldn’t figure out why. It was alarming sometimes, how easily she bent to him, how often she found herself gravitating towards him like a magnet.
The corner of her mouth twitched upwards in a smug grin, Sirius gingerly pointing his wand at her robes and transfiguring them scarlet, and the five of them reconvened to make the journey up to the castle together.
———
To an outsider, you’d never know she wasn’t a Gryffindor, not by the way the rest of the house greeted her when she sat down with the boys. Marlene practically shoved Remus out of the way to occupy the seat beside her, wanting to hear all about her summer, while Lily leaned over to participate (much to James’ pleasure). Just as they all got settled, Mary came over and squeezed in beside Sirius, whispering something in his ear that made them both laugh. The sound caused her to divert attention away from Marlene and Lily, glancing over just in time to see Sirius brush Mary’s hair behind her ear.
The sinking feeling in her stomach from last year came back immediately.
Maybe once she ate something she’d feel better, the only thing she’d had so far was the chocolate on the train.
Mary met her eyes, “Hiya! Good summer?” Her voice was like honey, smooth and sweet.
She nodded, returning a friendly smile as Dumbledore rose to the podium for the start of year address. Every year he gave a speech to kick off classes, mostly a bunch of fluffy sentiments about friendship and academic excellence, but this year it was different. He spoke of unity, of coming together and working towards a harmonious future. The hall was silent as he spoke, the majority of students faces solemn as the headmaster implored them to seek out the light and follow it passionately.
They all knew the implication.
They couldn’t escape the war, not even at Hogwarts.
———
November 3rd, 1973
Mary was becoming a more prominent fixture in their group. It wasn’t a problem, it was just…a lot. It had finally become public knowledge that Sirius and Mary were an item, and soon after, the PDA began. Sirius it seems, had been reduced to a one handed man, his less dominant appendage always attached to her body in some way, shape, or form. When they did separate, which was rare, the other was not so far removed, leaving only a few fleeting moments of normal conversation until they were all over each other once more.
The worst was the snogging.
It started at Sirius’ birthday party, which happened to fall on a Saturday, meaning that he was on another level knowing he didn’t have to wake up early for classes the next morning. After a third go-around of his new record (a band called Queen, who were beginning to make waves in the muggle music scene), the rest of the common room had had enough for the night and were begging for someone to replace the album with something else. Because she had gifted the vinyl to him, she took the responsibility to try and sneak some new music onto the record player. Pushing through the crowded Gryffindor common room, she searched for Sirius to ask if she could go dig through his collection. After two trips around the room, sifting through bodies and dodging drunk 7th Years, she realized he was gone.
“I’m just going to look through his records and ask for forgiveness later,” she said to Remus over the back of the couch.
He looked up from his game of exploding snap with James and Peter, “Do it, I’m sure he won’t care. Dorm door is unlocked.”
She nodded, weaving her way upstairs towards the boys room.
The music was too loud, the fourth rendition of Keep Yourself Alive ricocheting off the stone walls. It was so loud in fact, that she didn’t hear the noises coming from the top of the spiral staircase.
Pressed against the railing was Mary, Sirius seemingly eating her face alive. Their hands were everywhere, and the sight made her stomach flip. Averting her eyes as best she could, she slipped past them unnoticed, sneaking into the boys room and picking up the first record she saw: Aladdin Sane. With the image of her two friends intwined, she ran downstairs and quickly threw the record on, returning to sit beside Remus on the couch.
“Alright?” He looked over, having removed himself from the game with the other two.
She nodded quickly, “Yeah, why?”
“You’re breathing heavy, and keep glancing back at the stairs. Did something happen?”
Feigning ignorance, she shook her head, “No, I’m just—I ran down here, I couldn’t listen to Great King Rat again…”
Remus chuckled, throwing an arm over the back of the couch as they watched a card explode in Peter’s face.
She’d begun to doze off towards the end of Side 1 of Aladdin Sane, sinking further into Remus’ heater-like body on the couch. At some point, another student must have flipped the record, because a short time later Sirius came bounding down the stairs when the opening chords of The Prettiest Star began.
“This is my song!” He leapt over the back of the couch, landing aggressively close to her sleeping body.
The sudden assault jolted her awake, Remus (who was half asleep against the arm of the sofa) reached over to punch the birthday boy in the shoulder.
Sirius laughed, dodging the hit, “Oh come on! There’s no sleeping at my party!”
He began to jump on the cushions, leading to a low groan from her.
“Come on, Yellowjacket, dance with me!” He grabbed her arm and pulled her unwilling body off the couch while she held back a smirk. She could never say no to him.
Her limbs felt heavy as they wound around his neck, the beckoning call of sleep echoing from the couch. Sirius began to sing out loud, though it might as well have been directed at her by the way his eyes never left her face.
“Where’s Mary?” She mumbled sleepily, resting her head on his shoulder as they swayed.
“Went to bed, she’s like you lot—her fun energy expires at midnight.”
She swatted him lightly, “Not all of us strive to live like rockstars, Sirius.”
He laughed lowly, “Damn right!”
Spinning her one last time as the song drew to an end, he placed a kiss to her forehead before they separated.
“Happy birthday Siri,” she whispered before retreating back to Remus’ side.
———
She’d like to say that Sirius’ birthday was the only time she had stumbled upon him and Mary snogging.
She’d like to say that it was a one-time thing and that the two of them had learned their lesson.
But she couldn’t.
It seemed like almost every other day, one of them was running into Mary and Sirius sucking face behind a statue, or in a vacant corridor, or even on the common room sofa. Even James was becoming annoyed, which didn’t happen often, especially with his best friend.
“I need him focused,” he grumbled as he sat down across from her and Remus in the Great Hall for lunch, “He almost fell off his broom the other day during practice because she showed up in the stands. We have a big match against Ravenclaw in a few weeks, he needs to get it together.”
She didn’t contribute, just kept her head down and picked at the food.
“I just wish there was a way to know where they were, like a map of safe hallways, that way I wouldn’t have to walk into them practically eating each other’s faces off,” Peter groaned.
Remus’ perked up beside her, “Pete, that’s…that’s actually a brilliant idea.”
Peter beamed across from them, as Remus dug through his bag for something, eventually resurfacing with a folded up piece of parchment.
“Remember last year, when I told you all about my…problem?” His voice tapered into a whisper as he glanced between her, Peter, and James, who all nodded in response.
“Sirius had said something about wondering if there were more secret passageways throughout the castle…and there are,” Remus unfolded the parchment to reveal a map of Hogwarts, sketched out roughly, with random annotations and comments scribbled throughout in different colors of ink.
The four of them absorbed all of it while Remus continued to speak, “I’ve been working on this since then, adding things as I find them, just for fun—definitely not for nefarious purposes—“ he gave her a quick glance before smirking devilishly, “but Pete, what if we could find a way to add location markers to people in the castle? What if we could actually track where people are coming and going?”
She met his eyes and smiled, “A homonculus charm might work.”
Remus grinned wildly, “You’re a genius.”
“I just—“ she let out a resigned sigh, “—I need you to solemnly swear to me that you’re not going to use this just to cause mayhem all over the castle.”
The three boys looked at each other, telepathically choosing their next words wisely.
“I can promise none of it will be traced back to you,” Remus shot her a wink, the other two giddy with excitement, “there’s actually a new finding I want to test out, if you’re all interested…”
James looked at him through his lashes, clearly intrigued, “What’s your theory Mr. Moony?”
“I think there’s a passageway to Hogsmeade…and if I’m correct, it leads directly under Honeydukes.”
Peter almost jumped out of his seat, James’ eyes sparkled.
———
“I can’t believe you did all of this without me,” Sirius hissed from under the invisibility cloak.
They finally had the chance to tell Sirius about the map, after he had returned from what was clearly another rendezvous with Mary. Though ecstatic about the map idea, he was visibly put out at the notion of the four of them conspiring in his absence.
“Stop whinging,” James shushed him from the front, leading them towards the third floor, Remus squished close behind with the map in his hands.
“…maybe if you came up for air once in a while, you’d be included in things,” she whispered to Sirius beside her, who proceeded to stick out a foot and trip her. Stumbling forward, she quickly grabbed onto Remus’ jumper, who angrily spun around.
“Oi! Knock it off, both of you!” He growled, causing her to shrink back in embarrassment.
“Sorry Moony…” Sirius grumbled, she glared at him.
“Jealousy isn’t a good look for you,” he whispered.
She scoffed, mouth agape as she turned towards him, “Jealousy? Is that what you think this is, Black?”
The smug grin on his face said it all.
“All you do is snog your girlfriend in your free time now, you’ve completely abandoned us, this has nothing to do with jealousy.”
As the words came out, she prayed he believed them.
She prayed she believed them.
———
January 2nd, 1974
After winter break, James called an emergency meeting. They all knew what it was about before he even opened his mouth. The mood had grown incredibly dark, mimicking the desolate icy landscape outside of the castle windows; the war was drawing closer.
“He’s gaining followers at an alarming rate,” James spoke lowly from the end of his bed, the rest of them piled around the dorm room, faces grim as he spilled everything he had found out about the war from his parents.
“There’s been more attacks, more than the Prophet is reporting,” Peter chimed in from his bed, gripping a pillow tightly to his chest.
“Dad thinks they’re afraid to write anything more, scared of retaliation,” James frowned.
Across the room, Sirius was staring at him, stone-faced. She knew he was thinking of his family, and whether or not they were involved in any of this. The urge to go over and sit with him surged forward, but her legs felt like cement, her body heavy with dread.
“What about our side? Can we help?” She frankly had no idea what kind of use a bunch of teenagers would be, but she had to try.
James shook his head, running a frustrated hand through his unruly hair, “No, I ask Mum and Dad constantly. They tell me to focus on school, and enjoying my time at Hogwarts.”
After a few quiet minutes, Peter shifted uncomfortably on his bed.
“Is it true what they’re saying…that you-know-who is recruiting…dark creatures?”
From behind her, Remus bristled, sitting upright from his lounging position on the bed.
She’d never wanted to kill anyone more than she wanted to kill Peter Pettigrew in that moment.
James shot him a reproachful look, and from Pete’s expression he had clearly realized his mistake.
“What do you mean by ‘dark creatures’…” Remus asked cautiously, eyes narrowing.
She reached over and placed a calming hand on his leg, mentally pleading with him to relax.
James cleared his throat awkwardly, “He’s been reported to be recruiting vampires, some giants, and…”
“Just say it, Potter,” Remus growled.
“Remus, please,” she whispered.
“No, I want to hear him say it. I want to hear what other dark, dangerous creatures we should be on the lookout for.”
James held up his hands in defeat, “Mate, it’s not like that—“
“Say it!” Remus stood up, and she could see that his hands were shaking.
“…werewolves. He’s recruiting werewolves. There’s been an increase in attacks—“
Before James could finish, Remus was storming out.
“Way to go, you fuckin knob,” Sirius chucked a pillow at Peter’s head.
She quickly jumped off the bed and followed him down the stairs, calling his name while he exited through the portrait hole.
“Remus, please, wait!” She was out of breath from trying to keep up with his long strides.
“Leave me alone,” he grumbled, never breaking gait to look at her.
She let out a fake laugh, “We both know that’ll never happen.”
Continuing on, she jogged to finally come within arms reach. Launching forward, she hugged him tightly from behind, forcing him to stop walking. They stood in the empty corridor silently, with her face pressed against his back, arms snaked around his middle, while he stared ahead fuming.
Eventually, she felt him soften, hands finding their way to grip hers. She let go, and he spun around to face her, pulling her back in for a proper embrace.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered into her hair, “It’s just…hard to be reminded of what I am sometimes…”
“…and what exactly are you, Remus?” She pressed her cheek into his chest.
“Dangerous. A monster—a dark creature…something that certainly shouldn’t be allowed in functioning society—“
“Remus John Lupin,” she looked up at him, eyes hard and demanding, “You are the antithesis of all of those. You’re my safe person, the one I trust more than anything. You’d never let anything happen to any of us.”
“Those people…the ones they’re attacking. He’s trying to build an army,” Remus’ voice was strained as he said it.
Her blood ran cold.
Forcing herself to speak, she gripped the back of his shirt for stability, “He can’t guarantee they’ll join him though, just because they were changed doesn’t mean they’re automatically on his side. They’re still people, they still have free will and a good conscious—” she looked back up at him, “—even if they’ve been dealt a shitty hand.”
“Regardless, he’s ripping their lives out from under them. There’s no resources for them, there’s no future. It’s not like the ministry is lining up to hire people like me,” his laugh was dry and emotionless, “The only option is to find any semblance of stability and hope it sticks.”
She felt him hug tighter, knowing that along with the other boys, they were the only stable thing in his life. She thought of four-year-old Remus, transforming alone for the first time; his tiny screams of agony ricocheting off the walls of the cage a father built to contain his son. The confusion he must’ve felt, the fear; she didn’t understand how he had survived, more so—she didn’t understand why the rest of world had no sympathy.
“It’ll be different, I promise,” she whispered, burying her face into his chest to stop the tears from forming, “I’ll fix it, I’ll fix all of it.”
Remus shook his head, “You can’t promise that. Werewolf Support Services at the ministry are almost non-existent, and you can’t reap any of them unless you’re registered anyway, which is problematic at best.”
“I know that, which is why I’m going to fix it,” the statement was punctuated with finality as she pulled back to look at her friend, “After school, I plan on working for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, specifically the Being Division. I want to reform the entire Werewolf Support branch, I want to make the actual change that is so long overdue.”
Remus stared down at her, eyes searching hers for any bit of humor or anything to let him know she was joking. He found nothing but sincerity.
“When did you decide this?”
She shrugged, “Last year. You saw my elective choices, remember? How did you not put it together?”
He grabbed her face in both hands, “You don’t need to do this for me…”
“I’m not doing it for you. I’m doing it for all of them, all of the innocent lives altered by this terrible affliction, but also by the stigmatization the ministry enforces.”
Remus smiled slowly, kissing her forehead, “How did I get so lucky to have someone like you?”
“Right place, right time, I guess,” she giggled, wrapping him into another hug.
———
March 9th, 1974
“Ugh, gross—“
“How long is it going to go on for?” “Are they even breathing?”
Sirius and Mary had been going at it by the fireplace for the entirety of Remus’ birthday party, much to the disgust of the rest of the common room. The only person who didn’t seem to mind was James, who was too preoccupied in planning his next move on Lily Evans. From the sofa, he stared dopily at her across the room. She was with Marlene near the entrance, laughing at a joke that Frank Longbottom was currently enchanting them with. When she caught James staring, her entire expression dropped into an icy scowl, spinning so that the only view he would get was the back of her head.
Watching the entire thing, Remus patted James sympathetically on the shoulder, “Tough luck mate.”
“Little does she know, I could stare at the back of her head all day and never tire,” nothing fazed James Potter. He was hopeless.
She rolled her eyes just as Mary shifted to straddle Sirius on the rug, “I need to get out of here, there’s too much…obsession happening in this tower.”
Remus rose when she did, “Wanna go upstairs? I’ve got a hidden stash of Honeydukes.”
“Oh! That sounds great, I can give you your birthday present too!” She grabbed her bag off the floor and followed Remus upstairs.
Flopping down on his bed, she searched the contents of the bag for a carefully folded parcel. From the foot of the bed, Remus tossed boxes of chocolate onto the quilt as he found them buried in his trunk.
Finally procuring the expertly folded bundle of parchment, she held it out excitedly to him as he sat across the bed.
Remus shook it jokingly, “What is it?”
“Just open it, dummy.”
He carefully unfolded the parchment to reveal an intricately inked map of Hogwarts, including the hidden passageways they had found. He traced his finger over a delicately drawn picture of the Whomping Willow.
“No offense, but the original map was extremely chaotic. I figured if you’re going to make it more advanced, the foundation needed to be cleaner and cohesive…none of that frantic sketching you had done,” she explained, reaching over to open a chocolate frog.
Remus stared at the map, speechless. After a few silent moments, he mustered out a muted question, “How did you do it?”
“Oh, easy. The library has tons of maps and illustrations of the layout of the castle and grounds, obviously without the tunnels we know of. I added those in from memory.”
“This is…this is brilliant…” he was still tracing the hallways diligently.
“The best part,” she leaned over to point at Gryffindor Tower, “Look at the common room.”
Tiny dots were inked near where the fireplace would be, each one labeled with a name of their friends: James Potter, Peter Pettigrew, and Sirius Black. She watched as his eyes searched for the dorms, smiling when he saw their names as well on two matching dots.
“I just did us, to see if it would even work. You lot can do the rest, I’m not going to start cataloging the entire student body,” she laughed.
Remus looked at her in awe as he laid the map between them.
“This is amazing, you’re—you’re amazing…” his eyes gleamed in the dim light of the dormitory, the music downstairs seeping through the crack of the door as she beamed back.
“It’s not much but—“ she started.
“—shut up, it’s fantastic,” he grinned, “I love it. I love you.”
“I love you too, Rem, happy birthday.”
Even in the low light of the room, she could see his eyes flash gold.
“You’re beautiful,” he whispered, causing a blush to creep into her cheeks.
Her heart began to pick up speed, as Remus leaned closer.
“Can I try something?” He spoke softly, eyes searching for a confirmation.
She nodded slowly as he placed his lips to hers.
Remus was warm. He was steady, with a mix of delicacy and restrained strength that put her heartbeat at ease. Chocolate swirled with cinnamon and butterscotch. He was solace. He was familiar. There was no rush, no urgency to the kiss. But most importantly: there was no substance. There was no spark.
They pulled back simultaneously, staring at one another in question.
After a few tense seconds, Remus spoke, “Did it—“
“—Feel like you were kissing a sibling? Yes.”
They both burst into laughter.
He reached over and grabbed her hand, “I do love you though, that’ll never change, even if it’s not…romantic.”
She smiled, leaning over to place a chaste kiss on his cheek, secretly thankful that their relationship wasn’t in danger of changing. For a fleeting moment, she thought of Sirius.
She wondered if he felt as hollow when he kissed Mary.

Percy gets a chance to go to an extremely fancy wizard academy/school before his sixth year. Say he won some contest, or his teachers recommended him or something I dunno, it's all paid for a year. Full experience.
(personally, i doubt his parents would let them go, they seem to love Hogwarts too much, but for the sake of this let's pretend Percy wears them down eventually).
He goes to this school that's highly focused on grades, no cheating, arithmancy and ancient runes and other hard subjects are considered the norm to choose. The school by nerds for nerds, one could say. It has lots of clubs and extracurriculars so the kids don't spend all their time studying and get healthy interaction beyond competition.
When he comes back home he is much more relaxed, gets a bunch of friends which he owls all the time, and there's other changes, now that he has come back from somewhere that encourages curiosity, and random facts, and being bookish, etc.
Takes Hogwarts by an absolute-fucking-storm. This other school is leagues better, it has safety protocols. Percy is horrified.
I don't really think Molly & Arthur would let Percy go to a different school, but if they did, it would be a great thing for him!
He would thrive in a school with like-minded peers (hence why he spends time with a Ravenclaw), and it would help him open up and relax more (especially because he's away from the twins/their pranks).
Unfortunately, he'd probably feel just as uncomfortable - if not more - when he returns, because his life goes back to the way it was, aside from owls back and forth to friends, and it's depressing.
He does notice more and more messed up things about Hogwarts, but the more he mentions it, the more he is ostracized and shunned, because Hogwarts seems to encourage an almost cult-like mentality in the books.
Thanks for the comment! 😊

Deja Vu
Crouch Sr breaks free of the imperius curse early spring. Percy being a good employee checks up on his boss (because no one else is, like what the fuck, he’s known the man a year maybe whatever).
He has the bad timing of walking in on the murder (fuck my life). Who is this rat looking man? That other guy looks like Mr. Crouch. Calls the aurors, and they take him in?
Rude.
In order to save face because how long has the head of a major government department been missing?¿?
They charge Percy with the murder!?!?! He’s going to Azkaban? AZKABAN!
His dad has to call in every favor he has to keep him out of jail.
His mom calls the Prewett family and they throw the family lawyers to work.
Aunt Lucretia are those the Black Family Lawyers!!!!!!!! Oh yeah. (His aunt receives a letter from ¿Lord Black? giving her permission to use anything she needs from the main family vault: power, black mail, gold, family lawyers, Ect. so history doesn’t repeat itself for their poor family).
It feels like deja vu
Bill and Charlie are back in the country rather quickly.
Boys is that legal?
DAD Percy is going to jail! Who cares!
Anyways, Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny are trying to break out of school because how dare they try and hurt their brother. Percy can’t go to jail! He’s the good kid! He’s PERFECT.
Percy’s fall from grace is messy and painful.
Trying to send a teenager to jail is bad. Especially when he and his family are well liked.
Minister! That boy has war heros in his family!
He’s a Weasley and a Prewett!
Oops……
Because he’s watching his re-election go up in smoke like a bad muggle magic trick, Fudge orders Percival Ignatius Weasley to Azkaban until his trail.
Harry is 🤯
Molly cries into her oldest sons arms as they drag off her baby to jail.
Not my baby! How dare you! My Percy is a good boy!
Arthur has to help hold off his other children because he will NOT survive this if he loses another kid.
Before he’s taken, Percy describes the murders to his lawyers and they know exactly who he’s taking about.
The Weasley’s are related to the Crouch’s. They’re cousins.
Ron knows one exact rat man and he prays Percy doesn’t learn who that really is anytime soon.
It will drive him mad in Azkaban! Don’t tell him Harry! NO!
It’s March.
It’s takes all of April and May to get the trail ready. Poor Percy rots away in Azkaban. He’s too skinny and sleep deprived. His curls are long, knotted, and dirty. His family sees him for the first time in months; Percy gives them a small smile. They cry.
It’s the scandal of the year. Great Aunt Muriel and her squad of old ladies paint him as sweet young man. The kind of boy you bring home to meet your mother.
Uncle Ignatius and aunt Lucretia tell their high society friends of Percy’s magical talents and what a well round man he is.
Excellent in charms and transfiguration! All top marks in potions as well. POTIONS! Wow. Ancient runes and Arithmancy too. Loves to study magical history.
His family’s reputation process them: brave and accepting.
How could they do that to Molly and Arthur’s boy? They’re such good people. What a lovely family.
The media and press paint Percy as a naive and overly trusting young man caught up in Politics. A prefect, Head Boy, 12 O.W.Ls & N.E.W.Ts and he’s a pretty pure blood. Oh yeah, he’s a poster boy. All of Percy’s accomplishments will help his lawyers get him out of jail.
The Public’s option is he’s innocent.
How did no one but a fresh Hogwarts graduate know something was wrong? The ministry dodge and deflects pushing the blame on Percy and Crouch’s own department.
The Department of Magical Law Enforcement is in fucking shambles. Amelia Bones and Rufus Scrimgeour can be found at their desk 24/7 because their minister is enemy #1.
The infamous Black family lawyers reek havoc. A group of seven of the oldest wizards and witches Percy has ever seen rip the ministry’s claims apart and throws their incompetence back in their face. Their negligence caused a man’s death, and they’re ruining another’s life.
The Prewett family lawyers provide help where they can but they too are too enthralled and enamored with the Black lawyers. Like wow. 🤩
Anyway, they show them Percy’s memories, the dozens of letter he’s written to the ministry about how there’s something wrong with Crouch. Won’t someone please help him?
Hogwarts is on lockdown. They up security. Their French and Bulgarian guests did not sign up for this? Wtf? Ay, yo where did Moody go? The whole country is looking for the murders.
Once there’s sightings of them both, it’s over.
Percy is found not guilty. They apologize to him, but they’ve destroyed any trust he has.
His lawyers make him a rich man. He’s paid Crouch’s annual salary for every day he was in Azkaban, and for the year he was acting as head of the Department of International Magic Cooperation.
Peter Pettigrew and Bartimus Crouch Jr are wanted for murder.
The Black family Lawyers pull out a file bigger than Percy’s.
It’s for Sirius Orion Black.
You cannot commit a murder if said victim is alive.
They’re taking the ministry to court.
Lucretia Prewett née BLACK sent a note too.
I haven’t forgotten about you little star. Stay strong, it’s your turn.
I love you.

Hi Sebastian just two questions!! A boy in the corridor asked me if I liked 69. I don’t know why he was talking about numbers all of a sudden, do you know what he was talking about?? Can you let me know because he started laughing and I feel like I’m missing something.
Second question, what NEWTs are you taking?
Lots of love!!
H
*nibbles on the end of my quill as I ponder how to respond* Dear H,
I suggest you seek out a house elf named Deek. He is quite the worldly elf and ought to be able to answer your question.
As for your second question...at great risk of sounding like an overachiever, I am taking DADA, Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Arithmancy, and Ancient Runes.
--Sebastian

Before Hogwarts
✦ Born September 23rd, 1957 on a stormy fall night ✦ Father was a pureblood with five generations of purity when he married her mother, thinking he could simply move on as though nothing happened and his choice didn't affect anything ✦ Emmeline grew up raised like the other purebloods but early on noticed she was treated differently at times. Despite that she holds the same education as the other purebloods ✦ Due to the events of her childhood in which her mother was seen as the issue, Emmeline developed a hatred for her mother and begun to see her as the issue and reason why things were bad ✦ Absolutely adored her father and lived to make him proud while being her own person ✦ Mother was Hufflepuff while her father came from a line of Slytherins ✦ She spent years playing in the gardens of the manor, always finding something new to explore. Whenever she wasn't out in the gardens, she could be found in the library, trying to learn all she could about magic
During Hogwarts
✦ When the letter to Hogwarts arrived she was absolutely thrilled and ready to go ✦ Was sorted into Slytherin without the hat giving much a second glance toward any of the other houses ✦ Got along splendidly with her house mates, fitting in with the usual crowd and while she wasn't a bully due to being quieter at times, certainly hung around the standard group ✦ Lost her mother during her second year as a potential victim of early purist actions but was to disconnected from the person that gave her life to care much about it. It simply became something slumbering under the surface as she moved on with life. Seeing her mother pass on allowed her to see thestrals. ✦ Joined the Slytherin Quidditch team in her third year, playing as a chaser for the team ever since ✦ Made sure the fact that she's a half-blood wasn't known to everyone. Eventually keeping it quiet simply became not talking about it which leaves her amused every time someone mistakes her for a pureblood ✦ Excelled at Potions, Herbology and Defense against the Dark Arts while absolutely hating Divination ✦ During her eight year she lost her father with rumors claiming that it was Death Eaters during the early day. It was too early to know anything for certain and so it was passed off as a tragic accident. It changed how Emmeline viewed the world around her. ✦ Afterward, she started siding with the Order. At first out of anger and a need to take down whoever took her family away but gradually she learned that the world wasn't entirely black and white as she originally thought. She is still a snake, despite it all ✦ Every now and then days come during which she struggles with the choice as she sees those she considered friends still as her friends and family. At times it makes her choice quite odd and view rather twisted ✦ When the time to pick a major came, Emmeline opted for Potions. Always having had an affinity the art of brewing all kinds of concoctions, it seemed like the obvious choise ✦ More recently she's played with the idea of swapping majors to Herbology or doubling down on both, though as she finds it may be the more useful since both align with her interests and work together hand in hand.
Future Plans
Emmeline is currently considering a career with the ministry. While she certainly has a love for herbology and a tendency to delve into the dark arts and other areas she should not be in, curse breaking for the ministry in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement seems the most suited to her liking as it brings her closer to the Dark Arts while allowing her to work with the aurors.
Headcanons (more here)
✦ Emmeline chose the Order after what happened to her father but every now and then struggles with her choice as she feels torn between the world she called her home and the world she's now facing ✦ Her favorite flowers are lavender and tulips, making purple and yellow her favorite colors ✦ Emmeline always has a scent of lavender about her. Not a day goes by when one could go by without picking up the soft touch of the floral scent in the air ✦ Owns a Great Horned Owl called Barnaby that she's had ever since she started her time at Hogwarts. It was an early birthday present from her father ✦ Emmeline hasn't been back to her father's manor ever since she lost him in her seventh year ✦ When Emmeline connects with someone, be it friendship, kinship or love, she becomes someone entirely loyal to them with a fierce need to protect while allowing them their own space. When feelings arise therefore, it is not uncommon for the witch to simply not speak of it at all ✦ For a while after her father's death, Emmeline kept looking into various people around her to see if she could find a connection with those allying with the other side. By now that knowledge is used in part to protect them

"Come on, you can do better," Yuki mocks, trying to get a rise out of her opponent. "You practised this before, come on, dodge!"
Aoi is, contrary to what his peers would expect of him, not having a good time. Yuki is an excellent teacher―she's also a slave driver, and someone who likes pushing him to the limits of his abilities. Not that he's complaining: she's the best thing that's ever happened to him, his new-found brotherhood with that Gryffindor Third Year notwithstanding.
The onslaught of jinxes and spells Yuki throws his way are keeping him on his toes, and it's exhilarating, way more than Quidditch or, Merlin forbid, gobstones. He shudders just by thinking about it.
Their rather one-sided duel comes to an end about half an hour later, when Yuki's alarm goes off. She enjoys tutoring Aoi, and recruiting him for the Duelling Club is still one of her best decisions to date.
"Your strategy will be a lot more effective if instead of following an Impedimenta with a Bombarda, you go with a Leek Jinx, especially if your opponent is still on the defensive," she says, gathering her things before heading out, the lesson over. With a flick to his forehead, she adds: "Also, dodge. Just because you can take hits doesn't mean a Bat-Bogey Hex won't get to you."
Aoi nods, grinning at her even with that bloody nose he's still sporting, and she snorts. What a cocky Fifth Year. She wouldn't have him any other way.
In any case, she's got Advanced Arithmancy soon, so she bids him goodbye and disappears through the corridors with a bit of haste in her steps.
She would like to say it's a coincidence, that she's taking the long route towards the classroom because her legs hadn't been properly stretched out after that workout with Aoi and, really, why not walk for a bit―
But she's not in the habit of lying to herself, and she knows exactly why she's hurrying up and why she's going through the backyard instead of just taking the stairs to the seventh floor.
She knows he's going to be there. There's nothing about the way she takes a left instead of going up the stairs that's a coincidence.
Her heart, traitorous and greedy, jumps when her eyes lay on him. Messy black hair, eyebags, yellow tie, it couldn't be anyone else. He's leaning against the wall, talking casually with one of his friends, Hanami or something, and he's just―so fucking pretty.
It's unfair, really.
"Yuki," he says, voice deep and surprised, and by Merlin, she shouldn't be affected like this every time she hears his voice. But he smiles, and Yuki forgets her grievances. "I thought you were tutoring Tōdō?"
She steps nearer, skin erupting in goosebumps once his hand surrounds her waist. "We just finished. I'm on my way to Arithmancy, now," she waves her hand around. "I have to talk to you about something. Are you down for meeting up later?"
He makes a noise of curiosity, tightening his grip on her, and Yuki wishes she could say it doesn't send her heart racing as if it were the first time, but, again, she doesn't lie to herself.
"Sure," he answers, a bit confused but plenty casual. They don't tend to meet up on Wednesdays, since they're both busy: her, with tutoring and Arithmancy right after, and him with his Advanced Ancient Runes class not much later. "After dinner?"
Yuki grins and pecks his lips, unable not to, revelling in the faint red that tints his cheeks. "Sounds good." She turns her head towards his friend, and nods in acknowledgement. "See you later."
She can feel Chōsō's eyes as she walks away, and if she sways her hips a little―who can fault her, really?
What's left of the day passes quickly, her mind latching onto anything that can serve as a distraction for the conversation she wants to have with him. As great as she is at duelling―one of the best in Hogwarts, actually―the nerves she feels piling up until her meet-up with Chōsō are beating her.
Not that she lets anybody see it.
By the time she's finished with her dinner, she notices Chōsō's not on the Hufflepuff table anymore. He's probably already on his way towards their preferred meet-up spot, or waiting for her in some dark corner of the corridor outside the hall.
Okay. Let's go.
It'll be fine.
Right?
She greets him with a kiss on the cheek when she notices him a few meters away from the hall's door, and guides him towards the grounds. It's not curfew yet, so they won't be punished, and, anyway, she's a prefect. It's not like she's not allowed.
"How was your day?" He asks, walking besides her and gently rubbing her hand with his thumb. It makes Yuki's heart melt, and really, it's unfair.
She shrugs. "Like usual, mostly. The only interesting thing that happened today was Mei's extortion of Zen'in, who was boasting this morning about his prowess in potions or something. He's lucky he's got decent brains, otherwise all that ego would be for nothing." She rolls her eyes. Her fellow Slytherin are entertaining, sometimes, but Merlin can some of them be a headache and a half. Zen'in especially, that sexist prick. "What about you?"
Her boyfriend snorts, a chuckle escaping him. "My morning went well. Yūji got detention again after lunch, though. Eso told me he was pranking some Fourth Years who were bothering one of his friends, Junpei, I think?" He pauses his words, but not his steps nor his gentle caresses to her hand. "And I talked to Hanami about tutoring Kezichu for Herbology, the girl I was with this afternoon."
As always, when he talks about his brothers, his whole being brightens up, a smile playing around in the edges of his lips. She adores his love for his family, half-bloods and bastards from pureblood families that they are, and how he strives to protect them and prepare them for the outer world.
"Did she say yes?" Not that Yuki thinks she didn't. From what Chōsō's told her about his friend, she's kind. However, she's also in her Seventh Year, just like them, and Yuki knows with exceeding accuracy how stressful it can be to manage their workload and tutor someone at the same time.
But Chōsō nods. "I thanked her. She's a good friend, and an even better person."
They talk for a bit more, chatting about their days, before arriving in front of the Great Lake. It's time, then.
She's nervous. It's not the first time he makes her feel like this―she remembers the gymnastics her heart was making when she confessed she liked him for real, unsure of what his answer was going to be―but this concerns their future, and although she knows what reaction she wants him to have, it's not like that's the guaranteed outcome.
They sit down on the grass, moon reflected by the lake. It's a clear night, all the stars are out, and Yuki can identify a couple of constellations the Astronomy Professor managed to drill into her brain.
"So," she starts, the black-haired boy silent by her side. "Headmaster Tengen asked for me this morning." He nods, urging her to continue. She breathes in, and does so. "They were contacted by an old friend of theirs, a Duelling Master, after my last tournament. They said Miguel Santos wants me as his apprentice."
Yuki can't help the amusement she feels when Chōsō does a double take. "Miguel Santos? The twice over World Champion?"
She nods. "Yeah. I―" Yuki pauses, searching for the right words. "I know you already have your internship with St Mungo sealed. And that you want to stay here for your siblings. If I accept the internship, I―" Merlin, she thinks. This is frustrating.
"It won't be here," Chōsō ends the sentence for her.
"Yeah," she exhales, and the words taste like defeat. "It would be, at the very least, two years. Headmaster Tengen said it would give me the opportunity to see more of the world, since he travels a lot. I'm not sure," the blonde feels her breath shorten, eyes tearing up. "Of what should I do."
He hugs her, taking her body along and positioning her between his legs. They stay like that what seems like hours, Yuki comforted by the warmth and familiarity of his body against hers, his heart beating soothingly beneath her touch.
Yuki adores him. Loves him enough to waver on her dreams. She wants his reassurance, and she's sure he knows her well enough by now to know what she's looking for, bringing this up with him.
But she's also unsure if it's what he wants, to continue this relationship of theirs and become long-distance, with minimal chances to see each other during months.
She loves Chōsō enough to try. Even when she's only seventeen. Maybe because she's only seventeen, and she still loves with the recklessness of someone who's never had their heart broken before.
"I think you already know what you want to do," he starts, curling a piece of her hair in his index. "Or we wouldn't be having this conversation right now."
Of course, he is right.
Her hands tighten their hold on his uniform, and he doesn't lose time hugging her closer. "Yuki, if it's because of me," because of us, "I wouldn't worry that much. I love you. That's why, if you have this amazing chance on doing something you love, I want you to do it."
She knows that. But why does it feel like letting go?
"I love my brothers, and they're not ready to stand on their own two feet. I can't leave just yet," he explains, voice serene, even with the slight wobble that betrays his own doubts. "But there are letters, and two-way mirrors, and portkeys," he leans back to make eye-contact with her, a hand coming to hold her cheek and clear out a tear Yuki won't admit she let fall. "I know you want to say yes to Mr Santos' offer. Do it," and he kisses her, right this moment. A quick peck, chaste, but so very loving. "I will love you from miles away if that's what it means."
Yuki laughs. She can't help it. It's choked off and ugly, this laughter of hers, full of relief and love and maybe a couple of tears, but she doesn't care. Impulsing herself with enough strength onto him to make them both topple over and fall, she hugs him tight and doesn't let go.
"You're such a sap," she teases, now at ease. Looking at his eyes, a dark purple so enticing she's lost herself in them multiple times, Yuki leans down to kiss him. Once, twice. Searching closeness instinctively, moving her lips against his, not wanting to let go. Asking silent permission to deepen them, letting her whole self concentrate on the point where their breaths intertwine.
Ah, she thinks, I love you.
It's not the first time she's come to the revelation, and yet―each one feels like her love is growing bigger, stronger, to the point where, soon enough, her chest won't be able to contain it.
I love you. I love you. I love you.
I want to keep loving you.
"I love you," she whispers, breath directly above his.
He smiles at her, that gentle smile she wants to keep to herself, bottle up and never let go of. With his hair dishevelled, the poor light from the moon illuminating his features, dark purple holding a love for her she doesn't know what she did to deserve, Yuki has never seen a more beautiful sight.
He closes his eyes and guides her right back to their kiss, millimetres separating them when he murmurs her confession right back: "I love you, too."

We all do what we have to. We all walk the path we think is right. One day you may realize that said path had lead you into a fiery inferno but even then, all you can do is keep going. That all I've ever done. All I'll ever do.

BIOGRAPHY: (tw death, violence)
Emmeline was born to Ismelda and Alusius Vance on September 2rd, 1960 on a stormy night shortly before midnight. Her parents were an unusual pair as Aluisus believed in the ideals of the world he lived in and felt himself part of the pureblood society as much as the next one. While he had known that marrying Ismelda would be looked upon as odd, he'd been drawn to her from and simply pushed himself to believe that his one sidestep could not ruin the future of all there was. It had been a mistake that would eventually come to cost him dearly as with each passing day, and later the birth of Emmeline, society made it very clear that they did not in fact approve of his choice. Even though it wasn't the most widespread fact, their family still paid the price for it. Ismelda herself never found her place in pureblood society and in return disliked the purists and their idea of life. With Alusius' firm belief to raise Emmeline the way him and his friends had been raised, the young witch grew up resenting her mother as everything she learned caused her to believe things were very much her mother's fault. How else could on explain the way things had gone downhill? It started with her, surely it would end with her. Thus, the witch felt drawn to her father, doing her very best to impress him while growing up into a competent witch, who would upon being sorted find herself within Slytherin. For the very first time she truly felt at home, fitting right in with the crowd. The loss of her mother during her second year almost didn't bother had, was it not for the uncomfortable attention for the two weeks after. It wasn't until her seventh year that Emmeline began to change her view. The loss of her father, allegedly due to Death Eaters caused her world to crumble. For a while she isolated herself, graduated and joined the ministry and Gringott's for their training program of curse breakers before eventually finding herself at a loss for what to do. In those dark hours she found her way to Dumbledore, asking for a way out. The Order of the Phoenix became her new home and although she felt drawn toward her old life, loyal to those she'd once called family and friends, with each step she made forward, new loyalties began to grown on the side of the Order. Some bonds became strong enough that the fight began to make sense. Now that the war is won, the witch has moments in which she desperately yearns for either side as she misses the people more than anything. A part of her doesn't quite know what to make of a world without conflict, as she feels that it was all the world had ever been to her; a choice between light and dark, right or wrong. Emmeline is still very much getting used to the idea that people now know her as a former member of the Order; a fact she'd tried to keep under wraps for the duration of the war as it allowed for her to slip through the shadows. Over the course of the war her interest in potions increased, her passion for the brewing of those as well as alchemy settled with a part of her wondering if the path of an alchemist or perhaps even healer could be something for her. Emmeline is still figuring out who she is in this new world but she is no longer the girl she left behind at Hogwarts, during her darkest days.

what happened isn’t he fifth year of the hogwarts au?
asdfASDF have i not mentioned it??? in their fifth year, Ben almost dies and Luther becomes a werewolf
needless to say... it’s a very eventful year for everyone
I figured a good way to mirror the show and Luther’s issues slash ape body would be to make him a werewolf
It definitely brings the siblings closer together in a way because here’s what they know about the wizarding world and werewolves: a) the wizarding world is like, super awful to werewolves and have a bajillion laws regarding them, b) an old DADA teacher was lowkey fired for being outed as a werewolf even though he was on wolfsbane potion and taking care of himself, and c) the only werewolf who attended hogwarts (according to Fred) was said professor who kept it a secret due to worrying he would be kicked out of Hogwarts
the family have no proof that Luther wouldn’t be kicked out of Hogwarts for his werewolf-ness so obviously they have to keep it a secret
on the bright side, they have access to a secret basement thanks to Five poking around that has been mainly cleared of booby traps and other unsafe things, that is also impossible for Luther to escape from considering his wolf form can’t exactly speak parseltongue
(because portrait!Dolores probably teaches the squad how to at the very least say “open” and “close” in parseltongue considering i’m pretty sure canon hp has non parseltongues being able to vaguely mimic enough to get in)
further bright side - Ben and Five are very good at potions and are capable of very very difficult potions, such as the Wolfsbane potion
(downside: Five is a very experimental potions maker and likes to try and improve upon current formulas. Ben complains but is secretly the same. The other siblings don’t think they should be experimenting with Luther’s anti-werewolf potion guys, come on what the fuck)
“This would be so much easier if you didn’t have a reputation for being such a goody two-shoes.” Five informs Luther crossly, because getting a mannequin to transfigure into a sleeping ‘Luther’ was harder than it should have been smh, if Luther had cultivated a reputation for never being where he should be like Five everything would be fine but no, Luther’s dorm mates would be suspicious if he was gone on every full moon night
(Diego, as the team resident bonus Gryffindor, gets to stay behind and make sure no one ‘wakes up’ Luther in the morning before everyone can smuggle the real Luther back into bed)
Ben blames himself honestly, because it’s theoretically his fault that they were in the Forbidden Forest on the full moon that night
(Ben has excelled in potions and herbology, he gets along with Neville like a house on fire, and he spends lots of time in the greenhouse. He wanted to gather some various plants and potions ingredients that you can only get on the full moon and - well - let’s just say the trip didn’t go as planned)
Five ends up doing a lot of the... I guess caretaking work?? He’s the one best equipped to go down into the Chamber of Secrets when Luther is wolfed out since he can just teleport if Luther tried to bite him or something (which he doesn’t because he’s docile on the wolfsbane potion
“I dropped care of magical creatures, this shouldn’t even be my responsibility.” Five complains, loudly
“Well Luther has the best grade in that class out of any of us.” Klaus points out, gesturing between him and Diego, who looks sour at the reminder that Luther does better at him in any class at all (though that rivalry died down a lot when Diego made the quidditch team tbh)
“Luther can’t take care of himself.” Allison says crossly.
“Hey.” Luther protests, “I mean, I know, but hey.”
“Well Fred says that the marauders - that’s the dudes who hung out with Lupin when he was a baby werewolf - became animagi so they could hang out with him on full moons and stuff.” Klaus interjects excitedly, “There’s this potion which should be totally easy for Five and Ben and - ”
“Absolutely not.” Ben cuts Klaus off, “We need to be focusing on getting ingredients for the Wolfsbane potion, and they’re not easy to come by. Plus the ones we can’t get are expensive.”
“We’re orphans, it’s not like we have our own money.” Diego points out grumpily, ignoring the weird look on Luther’s face that pops up every time Reginald is even vaguely referenced.
“The money isn’t a problem.” Five says dismissively, because he’s been squirreling money away in weird places for years and has a solid ring of tutoring, essay writing, and homework providing in place to get them at least some funds, “The issue is disguising our orders so that people won’t look at our lovely list of ingredients and be like ‘who the fuck is making this quantity of wolfsbane at hogwarts, where there aren’t supposed to be any werewolves’.”
“We could buy other potions ingredients as well and hide the wolfsbane ones among them?” Luther suggests tentatively.
Ben grimaces, “The expense...”
“I already told you it’s not an issue.” Five snaps, “Besides, I can always just steal some of the super expensive ones from the potions cupboards.”
“Why do you always jump to stealing.” An aggrieved Vanya complains, even though all of them know it’s because Five’s ability to ‘apparate’ within Hogwarts grounds makes him the best person they have for moving unseen around Hogwarts
“Ha, jump.”
“It’s not like we have the resources though.” Allison muses, because she’s a slytherin and resourcefulness is important to her, “I mean, what are they going to do if they find out? Throw us in Azkaban?”
Diego shrugs, “This is Hogwarts, probably the worst that will happen is detention.”
“We can handle detentions.” Ben says firmly, “We do what we have to do, to keep Luther safe.”
“Thanks guys,” Luther may actually sound a little choked up at the loyalty shown by his siblings.
Luther gets,,, very good at watching the moon ;3c
you could say... it’s very important to him in this au ;3c ;3c
“Wait guys. Guys.” Klaus slams his hands on the table during a study session, “We can finally figure out the answers to one of the age old questions!!”
“What?” Allison sounds more exhausted than Five feels.
“What happens if you put a werewolf on the moon.”
“I don’t think Luther will be able to be an astronaut.” Ben points out delicately, “You need like, really good science grades and stuff and... I mean, potions is sort of a science but not exactly one you can put on your muggle applications.”
“One more dream crushed.” Vanya mutters.
“Hear hear.”
#five is the reason some of his classmates are passing their classes#five has an underground homework ring going on#he's excelling in all his classes#but i'mma be real with u the only reason he's passing herbology is bc of ben#five is great with potions ingredients#they're like math formulas !!#but actually growing that shit? get out of here#dolores tutored him in charms and taught him a bunch of jinxes and curses#he's GREAT at ancient runes and loves arithmancy#is only passing astronomy thanks to luther's lengthy lectures#five forces his siblings to practice dueling with him where he can use his jumps bc he can't in class :/#sadly because the sibs don't have any contact with reggie (who was probably obliviated honestly) luther doesn't get to go to the moon#but he gets to be a werewolf so the moon does have significance in his life#idk what would happen to a werewolf on the moon tbh#maybe they'd explode??#or they might just be fine because their werewolfness is linked to the position of the moon rather than how much is visible?#hogwarts au#diego is very very good at quidditch#thank you ability to curve anything thrown#he's the teams best chaser in fucking years#five is also a brilliant flyer and would make for a fucking great seeker#if five had any desire at all to play quidditch which he thinks is a waste of time#klaus is an absolutely exceptional flyer but can't catch a ball to save his fucking life#i think allison might be on the quidditch team actually but i haven't decided a position for her#beater maybe????#she just seems athletic to me and would enjoy the attention that quidditch players get#the closest to a celebrity that she can be#Anonymous

Wand-quality redwood is in short supply, yet constant demand, due to its reputation for bringing good fortune to its owner. As is usually the case with wandlore, the general populace have the truth back to front: redwood wands are not themselves lucky, but are strongly attracted to witches and wizards who already possess the admirable ability to fall on their feet, to make the right choice, to snatch advantage from catastrophe. The combination of such a witch or wizard with a redwood wand is always intriguing, and I generally expect to hear of exciting exploits when I send this special pairing out from my workshop.

this is a gift for @dewybyul ilysm, youre the sweetest + thank you for being such a great moot! i aways enjoy speaking to you and im so happy we’re friends <3 i really hope you enjoy these! they were so much fun to write <33
❥akaashi keiji
☽ ravenclaw- he’s a model student that every teacher and student knows and adores
☽ probably becomes a prefect in fifth year + head boy in seventh year
☽ he and his hufflepuff best friend bokuto kōtarō are iconic- akaashi always helps him out in potions so bokuto doesn’t get on snape’s bad side with his exploding potions
☽ well-rounded student who’s good at all subjects but believes divination is bs. his favourite subjects are Transfiguration and Ancient Runes
☽ the only one who doesn’t fall asleep in Professor Binn’s History of Magic lessons + can actually write a good essay on goblin rebellions + risings (bokuto tries to copy)
☽ his favourite place in the castle is the library. always somehow has access to the Restricted Section because no professors question him
☽ striving for a career in the Ministry of Magic
☽ has a big beautiful owl that has everybody jealous and the prettiest quills
☽ seeker on Ravenclaw Quidditch team- he has a sharp eye and Lee Jordan calls him ‘the prettiest seeker’ during his commentary
☽ his favourite place in Hogsmeade is the Three Broomsticks- he loves butterbeer and cauldron cakes
❥atsumu miya:
☽ he has a rivalry with Peeves + can be found often yelling at the poltergeist. but he’s a pranker himself + is obsessed with Zonko’s
☽ claims he snuck into the Shrieking Shack and had to fight 3 zombies single-handedly to protect a crying osamu. osamu denies this
☽ the most vicious Gryffindor seeker- he’ll crash into the stands if it means he can catch the Golden Snitch first
☽ loves Hogsmeade and tries to illegally order firewhisky every time but gets denied and has to settle with butterbeer instead (kita once caught him trying to order it at the Hog’s Head)
☽ really good at Defence Against the Dark Arts but a menace at Herbology- he can’t keep the plants alive for the life of him and Professor Sprout kind of dreads every lesson with him
☽ will probably make it as a professional Quidditch player. wants to play for Puddlemere United
☽ gets into fights all the time with Slytherins yet somehow still always tries to start a conversation with Slytherin student sakusa kiyoomi
☽ he and osamu are always hungry even after the glorious feasts in the Great Hall so they have a habit of going to the kitchens and getting the house-elves to make them more food
☽ OBSESSED with honeyduke’s
☽ makes Moaning Myrtle cry for fun. aran whacks him on the head for this
❥kageyama tobio:
☽ accidentally took divination + calls it stupid right in front Professor Trelawney. she hates him now and predicts that he’s going to die a horrible death from choking on a liquorice wand (he doesn’t even eat them)
☽ Slytherin’s new seeker- he’s a younger student but a prodigy with the shortest record time of catching the snitch + has the best Firebolt broomstick
☽ he’s notoriously bad at his studies- Snape is always having meetings with him and somehow he just about scrapes his O.W.Ls
☽ but it’s okay because he’s a future pro-Quidditch player for Falmouth Falcons
☽ every dinner in the Great Hall kageyama can’t even speak because he’s too busy gorging himself on food
☽ he and Gryffindor’s hinata are always squabbling in potions but somehow always still sit together
☽ the first train ride to Hogwarts he sat alone and hinata stumbled across him. they end up in rival houses but they’re still lowkey friends
☽ doesn’t know shit about the Muggle world and doesn’t want to- not because he hates them but because he just doesn’t care and doesn’t see why a wizard needs to know about the Muggle world
❥kenma kozume:
☽ goes to the Room of Requirement for peace and quiet when he thinks kuroo or lev is bothering him too much
☽ hates early morning practice with the Gryffindor team- he’ll go if hinata’s going but genuinely really wants to sleep in
☽ brings along his Muggle gameboy- all the other students are confused but intrigued about it but he swears by it, even if yaku insists exploding snap is better
☽ good friends with hagrid. nobody knows how they became friends but they are and kenma goes to his hut to drink tea
☽ practically a cat whisperer- all the cats in the castle adore kenma, even Mrs Norris which nobody understands
☽ effortlessly good at Astronomy- it’s his best subject but kuroo thinks its because he’s the only one who’s not sleepy in the lessons
☽ he cannot be bothered with the talkative ghosts- Nearly Headless Nick always tries to speak to him but kenma will act like he can’t even see him- he doesn’t want to be perceived
☽ knows all of hogwarts’ secret passageways and tunnels but nobody knows how but he does- he’ll pop out of some portrait hole and when people ask him about it he just simply says ‘shorter and quieter route’
☽ is really good at speechless spells- he’s the first one to master them in sixth year in DADA
❥oikawa tōru:
☽ the most popular boy- he’s known all over the school for his looks + charm and has girls asking him to be their date to the yule ball months in advance
☽ he’s a model slytherin student that snape adores. becomes prefect + strong candidate for head boy
☽ literally good in all subjects? but excels particularly in Charms and Potions
☽ gets free drinks at the Three Broomsticks with just a smile from madam rosmerta (which really pisses off his Gryffindor best friend iwaizumi)
☽ knows all the nastiest hexes to immobilise someone and turn their legs to jelly and does not hesitate to use them on someone *cough kageyama cough*
☽ hanamaki + matsukawa always play pranks on him with Zonko’s products and he hates it so much he really strives to get the stuff banned
☽ one of the best seekers in the entire school- but he despises his underclassman kageyama who easily rivals him. during practise they compete to see who can find the snitch fastest and oikawa tries to poke him with his broomstick
☽ but he’s an amazing Quidditch captain and Slytherin are often at the top of the league
☽ definitely has a fancy phoenix feather wand core
☽ ends up playing in Quidditch world cup as a top international player
❥semi eita:
☽ in ravenclaw- he’s a calm, decent student who isn’t always in the spotlight but he’s a good student that gets along with everyone
☽ except shirabu- he and shirabu often argue at Quidditch practise and often avoid each other in the Ravenclaw common room
☽ hangs around a lot with Hufflepuff student tendou and Gryffindor ushijima- semi helps them study a lot in the library but usually tendou is too loud so they get kicked out
☽ really good at Defence Against the Dark Arts and Muggle Studies- but Potions is one subject he struggles in
☽ loves Hogsmeade trips- it’s his favourite part of the school year and he saves his money for it to spend in the Three Broomsticks and Honeyduke’s
☽ always stays at Hogwarts for Christmas with ushijima and tendou; he buys them nice gifts + goes exploring through the castle with them
☽ huge Weird Sisters fan- ends up going into a musical career to rival theirs whilst also working for the Ministry of Magic
☽ he’s pretty good at his subjects but cannot fight off a boggart
❥shirabu kenjirō:
☽ ravenclaw student- he’s really talented at all his studies + gets the highest grades in O.W.Ls and N.E.W.Ts
☽ but Ancient Runes and Arithmancy are his favourite subjects + he despises Divination
☽ because he’s such a good student he ends up getting a Time-Turner from the Ministry of Magic + gets to take extra lessons
☽ really respectful towards other students but squabbles a lot with Hufflepuff’s goshiki and his upperclassman semi
☽ he’ll never get caught using them but he knows a wide range of hexes which can be quite terrifying
☽ has read most of the books in the library, including in the Restricted Section- he can often be found studying there
☽ ends up working as a healer for St Mungo’s Hospital
❥sugawara kōshi:
☽ definitely gets a lot of detentions- but it’s always for dumb shit like trying to go into the Forbidden Forest out of curiosity (he’s so pleased when his detention is to go into the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid)
☽ talking of which, he’s super good friends with Hagrid. he loves hanging out with him but freaks out at whichever creature Hagrid is raising now, often warning him of the trouble he’ll cause
☽ gives the teachers nicknames and accidentally calls Professor Dumbledore ‘Dumby’ to his face one day (much to daichi and asahi’s horror)
☽ Hufflepuff seeker- he’s an amazing player who doesn’t get the most attention but he always takes the crowds’ breath away when he does play
☽ his favourite subject is Charms and Divination- he’s actually really interested in the latter and buzzes off Professor Trelawney’s weird predictions
☽ really good friends with the ghosts like Nearly Headless Nick and the only one that doesn’t make Moaning Myrtle cry
☽ a really good prefect to the younger students- they all really like him and he doesn’t care for house rivalry
☽ after graduating hogwarts he returns as a charms teacher + all his students love Professor Sugawara who gives his best-performing students Honeyduke’s chocolates + answers questions about the Chamber of Secrets because he’s just as curious too
❥ukai keishin:
☽ owns the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade but also works part time as Quidditch coach at Hogwarts
☽ yells at students when they come in on Hogsmeade trips + make too much noise
☽ definitely has to break up atsumu’s fights with slytherins whenever he comes in + threatens to ban him if he uses a hex (but never does)
☽ sells the nicest cauldron cakes and pumpkin pies and the students love his butterbeer
☽ really good friends with Muggle Studies Professor takeda- takeda often comes to the Three Broomsticks and they drink firewhisky together
may have ‘accidentally’ sold firewhisky to some of the seventh years before (‘it’s not actually illegal if they’re seventeen, is it?’)

Anons asking about drarry kids but what about Percy/Oliver kids 🥺 THEY WOULD BE GREAT DADS
We have seen some glimpses of them as Dads here and here although that was a very specific scenario.
I will just skip the details on how they become parents. I don’t think there would be much difference whether it’s adoption or some magical device. (For them. Molly would be something else).
The wizarding world seems to put a lot of pressure in guaranteeing the continuity of line and producing babies as soon as possible, even in liberal families. Weird, considering the live long lives, but that’s my impression. In this context, I imagine Percy and Oliver become parents relatively late. Well in their thirties at the very least, which isn’t that old, but it is a full decade later for what seems to be the norm in wizarding society. It would also be when they are both secure in their professional careers and in their relationship.
They wouldn’t have many kids because Percy is well aware of the effects of having a big family. Sure, he loves all of his siblings, loves his family, there is something special in never being alone in the house and always having someone around… but look at him. And look at Ron. Do they seem well adjusted to you? No. And if they seem well adjusted, you are not looking closely enough. Percy has trauma, all right? And he won’t have any of his kids suffer the experience of being the lost middle child. He will have one, two at most. Oliver is an only child so he defers all sibling relations to Percy.
The kid would go to a primary muggle school, because Oliver went to one and Oliver got an O in Arithmancy even though he never worked on the subject for more than 20 minutes. (“It’s just basic logic relations and proportions, Perce.” “No, it’s not. It’s the one subject everyone struggles with. Bill had to pay a tutor.”) If Harry also has children I imagine Percy would latch on the idea of not sending them to Hogwarts, to everybody’s surprise except Oliver’s.
The things is, Percy didn’t like going to Hogwarts. He liked Oliver, he liked that he could eat as many eggs and meat as he wanted, but he didn’t enjoy the experience. He had the pressure of being a Weasley (with the expectations it carried regarding grades) and of being poor and people noticing he was poor (Malfoy wasn’t the only prat pointing and laughing. This is England we are talking about). Doing well in school isn’t synonymous with liking school. Percy excelled in it, but he didn’t like it. It’s not that in retrospect Percy realizes those weren’t happy years, it’s that he didn’t like it back then. He took whatever little joy he could in earning academic achievements and that was it.
Besides, Percy is pretty sure that with summer school and some spell work at home, his child will be able to pass the OWLs without attending Hogwarts. Oliver is not so sure, which is rich because he passed all of his OWLS and Percy never saw him open a book.
“That’s not true! You saw me study. And you got much better grades than me.”
“I saw you asking me what the chapter was about in between Quidditch sessions. You did not study and you passed all subjects, you infuriating loon.”
Percy is right, of course. Muggle schools are just better. Even the bad ones are better. In muggle schools you are taught how to succeed in school and how to learn. There is no reason to stop at eleven.
(And indeed, their kid is freakily good in Arithmancy and Ancient Runes).
Other than that, Oliver is the strict parent. Percy is the academic oriented parent. There is no chill parent because parents are supposed to give you structure and offer safety. They are not your friends.
They are both equally good with domestic tasks because Percy was involved in raising his younger siblings and Oliver is an un-spoiled only child which means being quite independent. Oliver wants the child to practice sports. Percy wants them to learn a language. They settle with taking music lessons, because that’s what the kid wants.
The child grow up normal (which is such a gift in itself). They are happy and they are allowed to become whatever they want. Not a copy of their parents but their own selves. At the NEWT levels, they get the highest recorded grade in Arithmancy and then pick up a career that has little to nothing to do with it. You don’t have to do something just because you are good at it.
(Harry wholeheartedly agrees).

Dear Sebastian,
I'm glad the chocolate frogs arrived safe and sound. Herodotus is a gem of an owl, as you may have noticed, but he's quite old now and sometimes may lose part of the mail on the way. Nonetheless, I love him very much and won't trade him for any other owl !
I'm happy to have met Iris, she's very cute and goes along very well with Herodotus. I took the liberty to give her some treats before sending her back to you.
You needn't repay for the chocolate, as I said, it is a gift to welcome you back. And I firmly believe sweets help alleviate the mind in not-so-great times.
I believe we have most of our classes together this term. Feel free to borrow my notes or join me to the Library if you need to catch up on something. Not to brag, but I'm quite good at Arithmancy and Ancient Runes.
-- Elisabeth
P.S. : Jelly slugs are always much appreciated during study sessions !
[Iris arrives with a moderately-sized parcel wrapped in silver paper, a letter tucked securely under emerald green ribbon] Elisabeth,
Herodotus is a most noble creature, and I hope you do not mind that I spoilt him with treats on his return visit. I simple could not help myself. I am pleased to hear that he and Iris get on so well, as I imagine they will be seeing more of each other with our regular correspondence.
I know that I needn't repay for your gift, but my manners and general sense of honour demand it. In the parcel you will find an assortment of Honeydukes best sweets, including jelly slugs. I do hope you enjoy them.
Save me a seat in class,
Sebastian

Background
Frederick comes from a pureblood family of a french origin. The Lavignes are known best for their wealth, their good-looks and, most importantly, for their wands. The Lavigne’s wand making business was started by Frederick’s great-grandfather and carries on with the family ever since. Although he is not the one who’s expected to continue the tradition, as he is a middle child. He has two brothers — Bertrand who is four years older than him and it’s expected to inherit the business, and Marcel, who’s three years younger than Frederick. He gets along well enough with both of them, despite the age difference and the constant need to compete with eachother.
Frederick gets sorted into Slytherin, as his brother before him. Being in Bertrand’s shadow slowly becomes a theme in his school life as well. He gets good grades and behaves well enough to become prefect and eventually a head boy. In his third year he starts playing quidditch as a Seeker. He becomes a star player in no time, being the cause of many wins for Slytherin and quickly gains popularity. He’s also a member of the duelling club in later years and is verry skilled in the matter. He’s respected by not only students but also teachers and have a well established social status at school, when his younger brother begins Hogwarts and gets sorted into Ravenclaw.
His overall peaceful life changes significantly when he turns thirty. It stars with letters from his mother. She expresses a big concern for Bertrand, explaining that he started behaving very odd and not quite like himself. Frederick decides to pay him a visit, but when he comes to his home he founds it empty. He doesn’t want to worry their mother any more than she already is, so he contacts Marcel instead. They begin to search for their missing brother but he seems to disappear completely. After a year of unsuccessful doings they’re afraid that the worst might’ve happened to him. That is until Bertrand brakes into Frederick’s house and attempts to attack him. Years of being a Hit Wizard don’t go in vain and he is able to defend himself and disarm his brother. Frederick is shooked, looking at the ruined man standing before him. He talks as if he’s already mad, yelling that it wasn’t his fault, that it was all because of the damn wand, he cries and he laughs, and he apologises all over again. Frederick has no clue what they got themselves into, but he feels the wand burning in his hand and he feels it’s dark energy. He knows it’s not going to end well. What he doesn’t know though is that soon a certain wizard would be looking for that wand made from elder wood and that he won’t stop at nothing to get it.

Good evening, CH! I was just flicking through my favorite parts of TLE1 and discovered that Lily does Ancient Runes and Divination as her options! I think James does Arithmancy, right? I’m wondering if you ever decided what his other option was… and how about the other Marauders? Also, I love your TLE muggle clothing scene! Out to interest, do you see the uniform as just robes or like muggle uniforms as in the movies. Thanks! I love TLE so much — it’s my favorite ever ever ever fanfic!
James does Arithmancy and Muggle Studies (until 6th year when he drops Muggle Studies).
Sirius also does Arithmancy and Muggle Studies.
Remus does Arithmancy and Ancient Runes.
Peter does Muggle Studies and I think he signed up for Arithmancy because all the other boys did but he failed it almost every year because eep that’s like the hardest class. (I can’t remember if I changed that though and I’m not at my computer to check lol. It’s not really important to the story though so we’ll just go with it.)
And Marlene does Arithmancy and Divination!
At one point everyone took care of magical creatures but I scrapped that for plot reasons, but I do sort of regret it because James Potter is an animal lover. This has yet to make any appearance in TLE but I headcanon that James has always regretted not signing up for care of magical creatures as he once harbored great ambitions of stealing a niffler. (Buddy never learned his lesson the first time round)
Oh and regarding uniforms, I write them as wearing robes like in the books, mostly because it fit my little Muggle clothes plot, but sometimes I prefer to imagine them in their little movie uniforms because they’re hella cute and robes just ain’t sexy.
(I actually struggled with this a lot when writing the scene in which Lily falls in the lake because I didn’t want her to be in boring school robes lol. Eventually I just gave her a skirt and a blouse and decided if anyone called me out that I’d just say it was a weekend and she does what she wants. No one called me out. This is me calling me out hahaha.)
