Becoming an adult is realizing how many family members have undiagnosed adhd
#i mean of course i cant diagnose them........ but#im the first in my family to be diagnosed that i know of#then my sister#i suspect my brother has it too tho. i suspected it of him before i suspected it of myself#but this made me realize something interesting#the only person on my dads side of thr family diagnosed with any mental disorders is my dad#he has dyslexia#but he was never treated for it in any way and ended up dropping out of high school partially bc of that#which was in the 80s#and i think..... he got diagnosed bc they wanted a reason for why he was '''''''stupid'''''''#even tho. ofc hes not. hes told stories about how he'd sleep through entire classes or just not pay any attention#and then pass the finals with no preparation especially math#but. in the 80s. younger brother of a more 'normal' child. has struggles?????? reading?????? and writing???????#what is this monstrosity??????????#so he got diagnosed and his mom and teachers felt better bc there was a reason. but no one helped him with it#and no one has been diagnosed with any mood disorders except maybeeeeee my older cousins but that would've been on their own#not their parents actually caring 💀💀#idk how my brother hasn't been diagnosed with adhd tho???? bc he had like. classic adhd boy child in school problems#idk when it started getting recognized more tho maybe he was just too old lol#but now. as an adult. with multiple mental illnesses. im like. wow. this is GENETIC#my dad and grandfather especially#and that's the thing like. i remember my dad cycling through hobbies a lot when i was younger#hed get really into models. then not touch one for years. really into building guitars. not touch one for years. really into train sets. n-#but i remember my mom joking like ahahaha my husband cycles through his hobbies then he just drops them ahahahah#hes silly like that#now im like. bro. hes hyperfixating. and he does it exactly the same as i do 😭😭😭#anyway. that's my thoughts for the night

Danny is a member of the JL and has been for a awhile now, Danny get's sick as one does and Dani or Ellie as some call her is like 'nah man don't worried I'll replace you for a bit no one will notice (note that I see Danny and Dani as closer in physical age and chaos twins) Danny semi delusional from his fever is like sure what can go wrong.

Evie should be meaner, actually??? But also, a) Jay has totally fine handwriting in the spellbook, the font they chose for his writing is way more legible than the one they chose for Mal, and b) is this what the kids are mean about these days???
#me writing a silly little fic where Jay has genuinely awful handwriting due to like. undiagnosed dyslexia.#which is important for his school character arc because he genuinely believes that he’s bad at school#and also relies almost completely on his verbal memory of whatever they went over in class#he can debate just fine!! His logic is sound#he’s just#really slow at reading and his handwriting is genuinely atrocious#he dictates essays to the school laptop they ‘stole’ from the library#the others read assignments out loud for their shared classes#and like. He’s not stupid. He can cover for it. But the thing about being in school full time and covering for a learning disability#is that it’s exhausting and unsustainable#and going to lead to a breakdown eventually#even if that’s just failing a test#and being found out#anyway if anybody is still reading my older fic this is why Jay’s in the offset testing blocks in my ongoing cinderellaverse#he gets extra time on tests because of the dyslexia#he probably also uses a red filter over the page when he reads because that’s the breakthrough that helped my irl dyslexic sister#anyway someday I’ll actually write all of my school thoughts into a real fic

1. Holy shit I am so happy I found another person who gets how smart Percy is, and gets that every instance of Percy looking/getting called stupid is due to his dyslexia or people not telling him anything.

3. We really don't talk about how good a mom Sally is? Like yeah she's badass and gentle but like. She respects Percy. When the school system failed Percy, she's the one who still not only believed that he was smart but still acted like it and probably taught him too. Queen mom Sally Jackson right there.
1.) YEAHH EXACTLY. Or his ADHD 😭 It drives me NUTS whenever Percy is treated as the dumb + comedic guy. Like I get what they're saying and why they're saying it, but sometimes his character gets reduced to JUST that and it hurts my soul. I get that he's funny as a narrator and as a character and sometimes he can be a little "clueless" but it just feels like some people like to think of that as either all he is or a huge part of who he is. I believe I've also seen Leo get this treatment despite literally being insanely smart at such a young age so. that's...fun. They can be funny and smart too 😞
2.) It's from the 10th Anniversary edition of The Lightning Thief! It's Rick's cover letter for the first readers of the manuscript & a note from the narrator. I don't have a copy of that edition myself, but I've seen some pictures of it on Rick's blog and someone posted one of the pages on Reddit (where I got it from).

3.) YEEEAHHHH I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!! What I would do to get adopted by her rn. The way she talks to him makes me kinda teary-eyed because she's just so...you can just tell how much she loves Percy and that she would do anything to make sure he grew up resilient and kind in a world that's always out to get him. She believes in him so much that it just makes me lose my mind a little. It's just so sweet and I can't help but feel so moved by it.
I'm not sure if you've read Chalice of the Gods, but there's this scene where (spoilers, kinda) Sally talks to Percy after the whole thing with Hebe and honestly this scene makes me want to sob and cry and weep
