There's one thing I didn't really understand about Zoya's chapters in KoS and RoW.

That thing is the number of times Harshaw was mentioned.

Like he was never close with Zoya or someone who she sympathised, so why does she mention him so much?

And she also has some sort of bond with Oncat, but we never told why.

Does anyone has any theories?

okay damn starting off strong

If the war hadn't exploded and Zoya hadn't formed a relationship with Alina, Genya and Nikolai, I think she and Harshaw would have hit it off. I had a feeling in RaR that they would if not end up together at least hook up. I imagine their relationship being sort of nonchalant on her end, but in a playful way, acts mildly annoyed at him but finds his chaos and enthusiasm cute. I don't think this relationship would be formal or too serious, but everyone knows they're sort of an item and root for them. They would be kind of endearing. In this timeline she and Nikolai defintely eye each other, maybe have a flirty banter and playful tension, but not the kind of deep relationship they end up having in KoS. I also like to think she would continue to teach young etherealki, since shes not only talented but also passionate about her craft. I imagine her akin to Baghra, grey haired and stern, severe, hard on them, but ultimately good and well intentioned. She might have ended up single, unattainable, mysterious, almost like a leyend among studenrs and workers in the palace.

Ultimately I think she's destined to be famous in every timeline. For her beauty, her skills, her cruely and icy eyes. In every timeline shes talked about like an entity, a saint, who will give you what you want for just long enought for the abstinence to be painful, an ethereal figure in a dream, far in a hallway.

I dont think this is the best ending for her. I prefer for her to be known, loved, cherished, understood. I like her finding friendship in Genya, sarcastic comments in Tamar, tenderness in Nikolai, I like her daring to break and be vulnerable.
